The Environmental Performance Of New And Existing Buildings
BREEAM
BREEAM is the British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. It is used to
assess the environmental performance of new and existing buildings.
Standard types of BREEAM assessment scheme exist for common building types:
п‚· Courts
п‚· Eco Homes
п‚· Education
п‚· Healthcare
п‚· Industrial
п‚· Multi residential
п‚· Offices
п‚· Prisons
п‚· Retail
The assessment relates to eight areas:
п‚· Overall management of the building
п‚· Energy use
п‚· Health and well being
п‚· Pollution
п‚· Transport
п‚· Land use and ecology
п‚· Materials
п‚· Water
Assessment put a brief light on all of these areas, and grade them according to the influence of
these areas in the building. These all gradings then added together to give overall credits to the
building, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Building regulations are closely connected to Code, which are the least building standards required
by LAW. The Code flags the future heading of Building Regulations in connection to carbon
outflows from, and vitality use in homes, giving more noteworthy administrative sureness to the
home building industry.
From first May 2008 it has been compulsory for all new homes to have a rating against the Code
(this may be a nil rating showing no evaluation was embraced). Likewise, since April 2008 all
new social lodging must be assembled to at least Code level 3. Prerequisites for gathering certain
Code levels will be ventures up about whether to help meet the Government s 2016 focus for all
new homes to be assembled to zero carbon norms.
The Code Scoring System
The Code for Sustainable Homes evaluates homes in nine outline classifications:
п‚· Energy and Co2 emanations
п‚· Water
п‚· Materials
п‚· Surface water run off
п‚· Waste
п‚· Pollution
п‚· Health and prosperity
п‚· Management
п‚· Ecology
The issues are evaluated against an execution target and honored one or more credits.
Execution targets are more requesting than the base standard required to fulfill Building
Regulations or other enactment. They speak to great or best practice and are thought to be

Ckd Essay
A Team Based Approach to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) According to the US Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention s (CDC) Chronic Kidney Disease Surveillance Project (2016),
approximately 15% of the population suffers from some stage of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD),
with an estimated expenditure of $22.83 billion for stage 4 CKD alone in 2000 (Joy, et al., 2005,
1106). As such, this is among America s greatest health challenges, requiring a fundamental
rethinking of treatment strategies to address the worrying proportions. There is an increasing depth
of literature which recommends the application of team based interventions for the suitable
treatment of CKD, emphasizing the implementation of programs and regiments which employ

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Aops
In most of the AOPs a combination of these oxidation effects occur. In FentonВґs reagent for
example; Fe(II) is used as a catalyst, in the process Fe(II) is brought to the other oxidation state of
Fe(III), in this process OH* radicals are formed that are able to completely mineralize organic
compounds. It is clear from the standard redoxpotential data that hydroxyl radicalis the strongest
known oxidant (2.06 V), second to fluorine (2.23 V) (Table 1). Therefore, the complete
mineralization of most of the organic matters is possible, when the hydroxyl radicals are the main
oxidizing species in the solution. This is one of the major advantages of AOPs, since other
chemical oxidation processes mostly lead to partial oxidation of the target compounds, ant thus, the
generation of new hazardous compounds is possible. The other advantage of AOPs is the
generation of neglible amounts of residues and their applicability, in case of very low... Show more

The use of ultrasound technology is shown to be very promising for the degradation of persistent
organic compounds in wastewater as it is proven to be an effective method for degrading organic
effluent into less toxic compounds. The advantages of this technology include potential chemical
free and simultaneous oxidation, thermolysis, shear degradation, enhanced mass transfer processes
together etc. Overall, sonochemical oxidation uses ultrasound to produce cavitation phenomena,
which is defined as the phenomena of the formation, growth and subsequent collapse of
microbubbles, releasing large magnitude of energy, and induces localized extreme conditions. The
sonochemical destruction of pollutants in aqueous phase generally involves several reaction
pathways such as pyrolysis inside the bubble and hydroxyl radical mediated reactions at the bubble

Pros And Cons Of Blablism
With Japan s economy coming in at the third largest in world its economic success has often been
credited to the distinctive corporate business systems that it favours. Following the First World
War Japan experienced huge economic growth which was known as the post war miracle due to
the increased focus on industrial and economic goals rather than defence spending. However, this
era of booming economic growth passed with its growth of gradually beginning to slow down and
stabilise. This, in turn, led to Japan s economic recession and so called bubble economy which led
Japan into its lost decade, with Japan struggling to sustain economic growth since the burst of the
bubble economy. Although having recovered Japan s economy has never seemed to return to what
it once was, with the unemployment rate steadily climbing and national debt increasing.
Consequently, could this slowing of growth be due to Japans reluctance to engage in major
organisational restructuring and avoid radical innovation? In this essay I will be exploring this idea
further by looking at key features of the traditional Japanese businessmodel and exploring some of
the darker sides of BLABALBL. I will then go on to look at the vari TOYOTISM FORDISM?
Since the post war economic miracle Japan has heavily relied on its distinctive corporate business
system with JOHN stating that it has been widely praised for its massive contribution to Japan s
strong economic growth. JOHN argues that the key to this business

The History of Metallica Essay
The History of Metallica
As the nineteen seventies came to a close so did many of the musical styles of that decade.
While some faced what seemed to be extinction others went through a sort of evolutionary
process. The bands that were at the top of the heavy metal ladder during this time were such acts
as Motorhead, Iron Maiden, and Tygers of Pan Tang. These groups would be just some of what
the new crop of heavy metal bands would consider inspirational. This style, which is typically
referred to as The New Wave of British Heavy Metal, would fuel and empower many acts to
stardom. (Marshall 3) At around this time, almost halfway across the world, Lars Ulrich got his
first drum set in his home in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was ... Show more content on

Ron McGovney. Ron s mother owned several houses, and the vacant one James would be
moving into was doubled as a rehearsal space since Ron was learning how to play the bass

looking for musicians that shared the same taste in music they each had. Lars decided to place
an advertisement in a South California paper called The Recycler. The only other ad that came
close was James and so the two decided to meet. Their first practice together was anything but
smooth, considering the fact that Lars was still learning and could not even keep his drum set
upright. (Krgin 51) Even though Lars was clearly unprepared to make a career out of music he
had made some connections. He befriended a man named Brian Slagel, who was in the process
of forming his own record company named Metal Blade Records. Brian was in the middle of
doing a compilation project where his goal was to expose up and coming bands to the general
public. He pretty much guaranteed Lars a spot on his project if Lars could form a band. Lars got
the information back to James and so they decided to give it a try. James, Lars, Ron, and a friend,
guitarist Lloyd Grant went into a recording studio and recorded what would be Metallica s first
song, Hit The Lights. Slagel was clearly impressed and did not hesitate to place

Epilepsy Is A Central Nervous System Disorder ( Cns )
Introduction
Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder(CNS) causing recurrent seizures and can only be
defined when there is at least one epileptic seizure.[1][2] John Hughlings Jackson, a notable
British neurologist proposed that epilepsy is an occasional, an excessive and a disorderly
discharge of nervous tissue . About 65 million people(1% of the human population) in the world
have epilepsy and the cases account for 80% in developing countries. [3][4] In this essay, the
normal physiology of nerve transmission in cerebral cortex and pathophysiology of epilepsy will
be discussed. The mechanism of action of valproate is also studied and how it leads to the
treatment of epilepsy.
Normal Physiology of Nerve Tranmission in Cerebral Cortex
The body system that is affected by epilepsy is CNS which is consisted of the brain and the spinal
cord.[5] (Figure 1) Figure 1 The major divsions of CNS[5]
The brain has a part called the cerebral cortex(gray matter) which is made up of 3 to 6 layers of
neurons.[7] A neuronhas three parts namely axon, dendrites and cell body.[6] Neurons are classified
as principal(projection) neurons and interneurons. Principal neurons transmit information to other
neurons in the brain and form excitatory synapses. Interneurons in the CNS transmit impulses
locally and form inhibitory synapse.[7] Two common types of pathways for these neurons include
recurrent feedback pathways and feed forward pathways.[9](Figure 2) `

A Dance Studio Is Hectic Time Of Year Essay
A dance studio is hectic this time of year. The excitement of young girls putting on their tutus for
the first time to the honor and pride of graduating seniors who are about to perform in their last
dance recital. The energy is high and complex. As the seniors rehearsed their senior piece, I
watched with other instructors and younger dancers. The younger students looked at them in
amazement, dreaming to be in their shoes one day. But something was missing. Someone. I
walked back into the lobby and saw her. She sat in a chair behind the front desk in track shorts
and a Pittsburg T shirt. Parents of other students walked by congratulating her on her graduation.
She smiled graciously and thanked them. Life is unpredictable. One minute you re the star of
the studio. A prima ballerina. And the next moment you find yourself in a cast, sitting behind a
desk, folding programs. I walked over and sat next to her. Hi, Ms. Kori. Hey, Ashley. Do you mind
if we talk for a minute? I have to do an interview for a class. We could go grab some ice cream or
coffee. Her face lit up and she had only one word to say. Starbucks. I helped her into Starbucks
and took her order. She hobbled over to a table, struggling with her crutches. I walked over to the
table with our coffee and sat across from her. Now, let s get started. I said with a smile. I took out

Lowering The Bourbon Supply Chain Is A Shortage Of Barrels
Anyone familiar with the alcohol industry knows that bourbon is urging at the moment. Production
has steadily increased over the past 15 years and there seems to be no sign of it slowing in the near
future. However, this does not mean that the bourbon industry has maximized the potential of its
supply chain (Lariviere, 2015).
One significant risk impacting the bourbon supply chain is a shortage of barrels. There is a federal
law requiring that for a whiskey to be called bourbon it must age for two full years in a new oak
barrel. One would think that this law would cause an issue in that the supply of lumber to create
the barrels was not sufficient. That, however, is not the case. The actual issue at hand is that there
is a shortage of loggers. While the bourbon industry is urging at the moment and it does create
significant revenue for the lumber industry, that alone is not sufficient to keep logging companies
in business. Thus, a lack of loggers has resulted in a reduction in the amount of new oak barrels
available for aging bourbon (Lariviere, 2015)..
Another potential risk that could significantly impact the bourbon industry is climate change.
Climate change has the potential to severely alter weather patterns that are vital for the process of
aging bourbon. Barrel expansion and contraction is dependent on the changing of the seasons.
Barrels are rotated throughout warehouses as the seasons change. This process helps to successfully
mature the bourbon. If significant

Essay About The Middle Ages
Since the beginning of the world, there have been a various types of time periods such as Classical
antiquity, Archaic Period, Macedonian Era, Ancient Rome, and more. All the people who lived in

Middle Ages. Middle Ages, also known as Medieval period, is the period in European history
starting from the collapse of Roman civilization to the period of Renaissance. These people who

Unlike modern times, transportation systems in the Middle Ages were not diverse. On land,
people usually traveled by riding on horses. Aristocrats usually rode on the wagons, and
commoners rode on horses. People usually did not transport through sea, but when they did,
they used ships. Ships were usually used during the war, or trade between Middle East
countries. Military technology in the Medieval period was discrete from other generations.
Because there were knights during the Middle Ages, they used the swords and arrows to fight.
Other than these weapons, they had special kinds of weapon, biological and psychological
weapon. Biological weapons such as dead bodies and dead animals were used to spread the
disease over the enemy camp. Psychological weapons were used to arouse fear of the knights to
the enemy lines. For example, they would make an armor that is several times larger than the
normal size. Then they would put the armor in the scene of victory to show the enemies. By
doing this, rumors would spread throughout the enemy camp and those rumors would arouse fear
of the knights. Agricultural tool was also distinct in the Middle Ages. The plow was considered to
be one of the most important technologies developed especially in the Medieval period. During
this period, the plow was used with multiple oxen teams. By this, farmers were able to plow the
heavier and wetter soils, leading

It is pretty well known that hollywood likes to dramatize things. Viewers want more romance,
more action, more violence, and filmmakers know to play this up for audiences. This is a
common occurrence. They are movies, not documentaries, so the movie is it expected be

Heaven is based on historical events that happened during the Crusades. While it is more accurate
than other movies, there are still some things that should have been different. According to a

Whether or not a film is accurate or not to history is important.Since this essay ties in with
English Language Arts and HIstory. Here is some science, just for the heck of it. In order to
have a positive future, we must treat life like the experiment it is. After each test life sends your
way, you must revise and edit your plan, and adjust. In order to do this, you must reflect on the
past, not just yours personally, but history as a whole. It s impossible to do that correctly
without the right information. For example, in the film, Saladin is portrayed as a respectful and
merciful leader, despite being the antagonist. Had he been different, you would apply the
knowledge and lesson differently towards dealing with the antagonist in your own story, who
may be a lot less understanding or more cruel than Saladin. History applies to everyday life,
whether it is dealing with someone with opposing views, or trying to make an important decision
about your future. An easy way to be successful is to learn from history and use it to your
advantage, and in order to do that, we need accurate portrayals of history in the media, like this

was the period where art was based on emotion; the Romantic Period . She was also born in the
Victorian Era, where women had to be shackled to their pedestals and most had to be married by

Dickinson thought of what format to use to express her emotions; Quatrain (four verses). This

The Functions of Griots
Djeli Mamoudo Kouyate is a griot in the country of Guinea, West Africa; he lives in the village
of Djeliba Koro, on the Niger River, and is the main source of information for the book Sundiata:
An Epic of Old Mali. The book focuses on the trials and tribulations of Sundiata, a legendary
warrior, king, and founder of the Mali Empire; and the functions of griots in serving their king.
Sundiata is born to Sogolon, and is supposed to become the king of Mali, but Sundiata cannot

The history of kings is also important information for the griots to have so they can tell kings of
their ancestors battles, to make sure the king knows what he is capable of and to give him
inspiration for the battle ahead.
Second, griots have a passion for music, and this is also one of their most important
contributions to their king and culture. The griot uses song for many purposes, and is very
skilled at creating emotion with their songs. A song can be to praise, to celebrate, to raise spirits
of warriors, or to control. When Sogolon, Sundiata s mother, first came to the town of Nianiba,
the griots in the crowd sang songs of praise (10). An excellent example of the griots using a song
to celebrate is on p.21, when Sundiata first stood up and bent a metal bar into a bow, Balla
Fasseke, Sundiata s griot, sang Hymn to the Bow , a song created to celebrate and inform the
townspeople of the young mans power. Page 54 contains a song by the griots with the specific
purpose of inspiring Sundiata s warriors to victory. They had won their battle earlier that day, but
Sundiata s army was fearful for the future. This song helped ensure victory for Sundiata, another
essential attribute of griots. Griots have found yet another use for song, to control or persuade.
This is best seen when Balla Fasseke is playing king Soumaoro s balafon (40). King Soumaoro is a

Cynthia Belar, the current interim chief executive officer. Dr. Belar revealed her story of how
she became a part of the APA, after working in several different setting related to clinical
psychology and mental health problems. While her career was truly a spectacular one, she gave
the intern a valuable advice. She stated that even when she was young, she was not completely
certain about which path to take, or what she would do in the future. Nevertheless, she found
herself along the way and was able to contribute to the best of her ability to psychology. Thus,
she believes that is it perfectly acceptable for students to be confused and uncertain of their
futures; through their experience, they will figure out their strength and weaknesses, as well as
their choice of career. Indeed, sometime college or even graduate students can be nervous and
afraid when they experience uncertainty towards their future. Life should be viewed as a journey,
where one will learn about themselves and others, to decide what they want to do, or who they
want to be. It is extremely accurate for those who study psychology, as it is a major that enable
people to study about human as a whole. On the other hand, Dr. Belar encourage the students to
propose ideas and observations about psychology and the APA. A notable suggestion revolved
around how psychology can be more accessible to the population. The author pointed out the fact
that psychology can be apply to any issues and problem presented that is related to human, and

Bobbie Ann Mason Research Paper
Southern writer Bobbie Ann Mason was born on May 1, 1940 in Mayfield, Kentucky to her
parents Wilburn and Christina Mason along with her four other siblings. It was when she was
still a child that her interest in writing emerged and she began writing stories influenced by
children s mystery novels (Bobbie Ann Mason). These works would continue to influence her
writing even in her later years. Bobbie Ann Mason is still alive today, and is approaching her
older years of life, but she still publishes work, and travels around doing book reading and
signings (Bobbie Ann Mason). Her entire life has been dedicated to writing, she attended school
for it, pursued a teaching career in it, and dedicated herself full time as a writer (Bobbie Ann

In her criticism of Mason and comparison of these three stylistically different writers, she is
quoted on an important aspect of the meaning of their, and especially Mason s, stories, Why do
we read novels and short stories? For pleasure; for instruction; for the solace of seeing others in
familiar dilemmas; for the opportunity to see what is unfamiliar, perhaps strange; for hope.
These writers, in different ways, satisfy these requirements. (Becker). Not only does she raise
incredible praise for these writers, she also gives us an opportunity to see how Mason s writing
fits into the other writers of her time. She shows us what the purpose of the short story is in
Mason s world, for hope (Becker). Mason in particular inspires this hope because although she is
introducing her readers to the characters of rural Kentucky, change is something that, on some
level, every reader can relate to and understand (Becker). This idea of understanding can even be
compared and seen throughout the criticisms of character presentation by Michiko Kakutani, who
has an appreciation for the way she lays out her characters to her audience, and the commentary by
Robert Newman on how she relates to her readers through her characters. The way these two
appreciate Bobbie Ann Mason s character development is the same way that Robin Becker

Narrative Essay On Sooulsca Place
This weekend was one of the best weekends I ve had in College. This weekend I attended
something called SOULscape, a 2 day program about your life; purpose, vulnerability and gratitude.
SOULscape took place at Minnowbrook Conference Center, near Blue Mountain Lake.
I first heard about SOULscape through a friend of mine. She sent me a link to the application
and it seemed amazing, so I applied. A few days ago, I got an email saying that spots this year
were full, but I was placed on the alternate list. I wasn t sad or upset about it because I hadn t
really given it much thought. On Thursday, October 20th, I received an email saying that a few
spots had opened up and if I was still interested in going. I went through the e brochure and website

A bowl of french onion soup and mashed potato really ticked the box for comfort food. After
lunch, we sat in a circle near the fire place at the main lounge and introduced ourselves to our
fellow soulscapers and also spoke about why we applied to SOULscape. It was really inspiring
because people really opened up about why they were there. I mean, it does take something to
open up about your personal life to a group of people you barely know. As people spoke about
serious issues like self harm, mental health and depression as reasons for themselves, I began
questioning my reason for being there. It made me come closer with reality. It made me realize
that things like violence, abuse, self harm that I read about are actually real issues that people
struggle with. That moment I realized that, that experience was going to be extremely enriching. I
wasn t afraid to open up about why I was there, I spoke about anxiety and how I sometimes
struggled with anxiety. It wasn t awkward or uncomfortable to open up to a group of strangers,
especially in that environment. I honestly felt as if people could understand me and they could

Tracking and Finding Patterns to Earthquakes
Marmara Region of Istanbul has a history of catastrophic earthquakes such as the ones that struck
on 17 August 1999 (Mw=7.4) and12 November 1999 (Mw=7.2). This led to the introduction of
Istanbul Earthquake Rapid Response and Early Warning System (IERREWS) as a preventive
measure for future earthquakes occurrences. This system consists of a dense network of 100 strong
motion recorders located in the metropolitan area of Istanbul, 10 near the Great Marmara Fault and
40 more located at important structures (Mert et al 2004). The early warning systemof the
(IERREWS) is based on exceeding of predetermined thresholds values for the peak ground
acceleration (PGA) and Cumulative Absolute Velocity(CAV) it has three alarm levels. If the value
of CAV exceeds the threshold value it is considered a vote and within a specified time interval if
the threshold value is exceeded in 2 or 3 stations the first alarm is declared. The original CAV
has been modified to Bracketed CAV (BCAV) which is a summation of the maximum
acceleration value exceeding a threshold value within a specific time domain generally at a one
second interval. A recently modified version of the BCAV called the Windowed Bracketed CAV
(BCAV W) has been suggested which integrates the maximum acceleration values for a window
length of 8 seconds. For the bracketed CAV window the threshold values suggested for the three
alarm levels are 0.20, 0.40 and 0.70 m/s (Alcik et al 2009).

Lord of the Flies Commentary
Passage Commentary: Lord of the Flies, Pages 109 111 In this passage from Lord of the Flies by
William Golding, the reader gets deep insight into Ralph s mind and how the boys are adapting
to life on the island. Occurring around the middle of the novel, this passage dives into the
thoughts of Ralph to see what he is really feeling about being stranded. It shows how the other
boys are coping, and it demonstrates the two different sides of the island; the reader now sees the
dangerous, wild side representing the savagery of the boys, and the safe, light side representing
their innocence. When the reader looks at the passage with an inquisitive eye, one will see that
Golding s choice in tone and content gives the passage many levels of... Show more content on

The island has the light and the dark side. This is a symbol for the light and dark side of the
boys on the island. The safe side is described in a happy and hopeful tone using words such as
filmy enchantments, mirage, dream of rescue, and irresistible. But as the reader dives into the
other side, one feels the hope drain out and the author begins to use words such as cold, clipped,
hard, and condemned. The ocean is characterized as having Shining hair, arm of surf, fingers of
spray, and rising with a roar. Here the reader sees how Golding personifies the ocean and one
watches as the sea taunts Ralph, showing the power of nature over man. The emphasis of the
dark tone used by the author adds to the feeling of the passage. The words chosen by Golding
were clearly chosen thoughtfully to give the darkness meaning, layers and depth to the
description. As the reader ends the passage, the dark tone continues with words such as, painful,
gripped, and stiff. This dark description leads up to the last sentence of the passage said by
Simon: You ll get back to where you came from. The emphasis of the quote is clearly on the word
you as in the later chapters the reader sees the death of Simon. Simon has insight into Ralph s
thoughts here. The reader can see, with a close read, that Simon has insight into what Ralph is
thinking without Ralph even speaking aloud. Here,

There is something alluring about traditions. No matter how far away from home one gets, they
will always cherish the manner in which things are done back at home. They retain even the
slightest things that will help them hold on to the past or the way of life that they have left
behind. They will cook or serve food in a certain way because it is their sentimental way of
remaining attached what they were familiar with. This is also the case with my choice of music. I
came to study in United States a while back and I have come to pick up a few things about the
way people do things but I am yet to let go of my old ways. I have come to learn and accept the

came in just in time for the commencement of the first piece. I sat and stared at the front at this
lady who was doing a solo performance. I could already tell that the night was only going to pick

all the people wanted to do was look at her and share the same calmness that she portrayed. It was

Began my journey into the field by studying in Physics and Microelectronics department of
Hunan University, where physics ranks in the top 1% of ESI global discipline. Studying on this
topic, which I am very much interested in, led me to excel in my program, earning me a GPA of
90.3 on a 100 point scale, which ranked me as the top student out of the 112 who are in my
program. My life over the last three years have revolved around attending lectures and making
projects, I know that this has aided me in gaining solid knowledge and proficient researchskills.
During my freshman year at university, I implemented a system based on C programming
language of student cards, which is was suitable for consumption and helped the system with
complete functions. During this time, I was very new to the world of physics and did not have
relevant experience and because of this inexperience, I found that the most complex and
challenging part of the project was coordinating all the C++ Source Files and making sure that
they work together as a Win32 Console Application. To try to resolve these hurdles, I bombarded
myself with books and articles that guided me through the process of building my desired
application, spending 8 days studying in the library during the summer semester to ensure that I
build the best one possible. Although it was very challenging, I pushed myself to start by

Organization Overview
Knowledge management is a concept that is widely known in many organizations but despite the
concept being around for more than two decades, a universally accepted meaning of the term is
yet to be outlined. Knowledge management is a concept that is concerned with the aspect of
learning something before putting it into action. The concept is also involved with creating a
platform which will allow exploration of new types of knowledge. The created knowledge may
then be incepted in the minds of the employees to add value to the products or services they deliver.
What is important to note is that as far as KM is concerned, it does not go beyond storing and
manipulating data or information. Knowledge transfer to decision makers will need the
development of a structured approach to ensure that it is available on demand. When considering
the department of labor, you would appreciate the need for implementation of this strategy. Many
departments hoard information thus making it tough to access

Assess the Contribution of Leni Riefenstahl to Her Period...
Leni Riefenstahl was one of the most revolutionary and certainly most controversial filmmakers of
the early twentieth century. The lasting influence of her innovative filmmaking techniques on
twentieth century cinema is undisputed by scholars throughout history, but the exact nature of her
work is surrounded by ongoing controversy. Riefenstahl s production of the feature films Triumph
of the Will (Source 3) and Olympia (Source 1) have left a lasting imprint on history; these films
established Riefenstahl s influential career as a film director under the years of the Nazi regime.
Although these films are attributed by scholars and critics to be Riefenstahl s greatest achievements
they are also considered to be her greatest fault, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Hitler came into her life, Riefenstahl was already an accomplished actress and director. Like
many Germans living in economic despair at the time, she found the Fuhrer charismatic and praised
his efforts to build National Socialism, by her own words unaware of his ultimate intentions.
Although Riefenstahl denied all accusations, connections with the inner circle of the Nazi Party
meant she was often accused of having a romantic or sexual relationship with Hitler. Riefenstahl
held that her relationship with him was purely professional. (Source 4)
Riefenstahl s significance as a historical figure can be further seen as a powerful female pioneer.
Riefenstahl excelled in a career dominated by men, which transcended Nazi Germany and impacted
on an international level, questioning gender roles of the time. She was able to obtain the
admiration of Hitler, who viewed her as a great artistic talent, at a time when society confined
women to strict roles (Kinder, Kirsch and Kutch). Leni Riefenstahl was able to significantly impact
history through challenging gender roles by becoming a female pioneer not only in her field but
also in society as a whole by becoming one of the most prominent figures in a male dominated
society.
The influential career of Leni Riefenstahl has been a point of great contention amongst scholars
and filmmakers over the last few decades. The legacy Riefenstahl leaves behind are her

The Importance Of Animals In Zoos
Imagine yourself just chilling around in the wild, the only place you are familiar with, and the
next thing you know, you get taken and put inside a small enclosure which becomes your home.
Well, that is what animals who are taken out of the wild and mostly put inside a zoo feel like.
Animals can receive serious health issues when kept in a zoo, most of the times not treated properly
and used for entertainment rather than educational purposes. I believe that this is an urgent issue
and I think that it is essential for wild animals to stay in the wild and not kept in enclosures.
I believe that animals should not be in zoos because animals will have a high chance of
developing a health issue. Animals, especially Elephants, are not used to being by themselves or
in small groups. In the wild, they usually stay in a pack of 30 or even 40. This can cause animals
to feel lonely and bored without being with their pack. Also, animals are not used to the
environment that they are set in. Yes, yes I know that it can be extremely hard for zoos to remake
the natural environment that animals are usually in, but won t it be much easier for the zoo to
remake the wild if they just left the animals back in the wild? Animals in captivity actually start to
develop this health issue named Zoochosis. In 1992, Bill Travers first used the term Zoochosis to
describe an obsessive, repetitive behavior and described zoo animals behaving strangely as
Zoochotic . Behaviors that are symptomatic of

Design Of The City Using Acrylic On Canvas
Lee Beaton created Colours of the City using acrylic on canvas. The painting is currently on
exhibit at Cre8ery Gallery located in Winnipeg s Exchange District. Beaton focuses on creating
architectural themed paintings or energized abstracts. This particular painting has a large size of
48 x 36 which can only be entirely viewed when standing several feet back. Beaton does not have
a specific audience she is aiming towards when creating her paintings. She wants to share with the
viewers how we are all beautiful and also wants to show that it is what is inside that makes us
beautiful . In Colours of the City, Beaton uses form, content, and style to capture the ideas and
design of the city that gives this art piece an interesting well worth seeing aspect. This large canvas
is mostly filled with warm hueof green, orange, red, and white, but the saturation is very dull. The
dullness surrounding the city represents the state in which our society is currently living in; from
the pollution, climate change, and the negative impact of urbanism on the environment. The
aspect that is most emphasized is the city, which is centred in the middle and only takes up a
small portion of the canvas. The city is represented by nine buildings which looks figure 1
corrupted due to uneven and lightly painted lines. On each side of the city lays two plant forms
showing that they are barely surviving due to their small black figures. Draining from the bottom

Monkey s Quest For Immortality In Journey To The West
Immortality has been made into this ultimate goal. Literature and films have often painted
immortality as a gift only given to the few who have proven themselves worthy of it. A life full of
great wisdom, experience, and many other joys. In Journey to the West, it opens up with the birth
of Monkey and follows him as he tries to achieve immortality. Monkey wants immortality and is
willing to do anything to get it; thinking immortality will bring him a an enlightened life. After
reading Journey to the West, I believe immortality should not be something that is prized as the
ultimate gift. I think living an immortal life would be far worse than a mortal one and throughout
this paper I will discuss why. Why would someone want to be immortal if they cannot share their
life with others? Sharing with others is what life is about. Making connections and relationships...

So many experiences that anyone with the luck of getting to experience one would be grateful.
Monkey became king of his people, he learned great skills from the Patriarch, he went to the

All in all, in my opinion, immortality is worthless. With immortality comes selfishness. Immortals
seem to take everything for granted because they know they will most probably experience it

Prevention Of Hospitals For Methicillin Resistant...
Article #5 In a study Herrmann, Petit, Dawson, Biechele, Halfmann, von Müller ... and Gärtner
(2013) conducted a widespread screening in the admission of patients to hospitals for methicillin
resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The purpose of this study is to show that to help control
the spread of MRSA in hospitalby having admission prevalence screenings. MRSA is a major
nosocomial infection in hospitals and has become a problem that can be hard to manage in
patient safety. There are certain risk factors that a patient can possess when they become
infected with MRSA or are positive carriers. So, if there can be a prevalence screening for these
risk factors upon admission hospitals would be able to tell if the MRSA was acquired while in
the hospital or if the patient was already infected. In the other case studies discussed they examine
steps that can be taken in the case of MRSA already infecting patients and then treating, isolating,
and preventing from infecting many more. The study administered by Herrmann et al. examines
patients upon admission meaning this could help reduce the spread of MRSA other than finding
that it infected patients already admitted. Since this study was focusing on prevalence screening
they needed participates from all over the region. During this study 24 hospitals participated: 12
hospitals had less than 200 beds, 10 hospitals that had up to 500 beds, one hospital with 600 beds,
and one with close to 1300 beds (Herrmann et al., 2013).

The Effects Of Yellowstone Volcanic Complex On The World
Introduction
Yellowstone volcano is one of the most explosive, active silicic volcanic fields in the world and is
classified as a super volcano . Its Late Quaternary history, in terms of ages, sizes and frequency of
eruptions, has been well documented (Farrell et al., 2014). Understanding its properties will help us
to better understand the hazards it poses, both now and in the future. As it is protected from
geothermal energy or mineral exploration and development, Yellowstone provides a unique
opportunity to research an undisturbed major volcanic system and the temporal and spatial changes
that occur naturally (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014).
This report discusses the history of Yellowstone volcanic complex over the past 2.1 million years,
eruptive style, compositions, associated hazards and the structure of the magma chamber. In
addition, we look at areas into which research is currently occurring or should in the future, and
discuss a strategy for monitoring and forecasting of future activity.
History
Over the past 2.1 million years, three large eruptions with widespread effects have occurred in
the Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field (YPVF) (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). The first of these was
2.059 В± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), and produced the 2450 km3 Huckleberry Ridge Tuff.
The second was at 1.285 В± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), producing the 280 km3 Mesa Falls
Tuff and the Henrys Fork caldera. The most recent of the three occurred 0.639 В± 0.002

Easy navigation and flood control encouraged trade along the river, which boosted the economy
and led to an increase in jobs for traders, deckhands, etc. (US History TVA). In addition to
providing increased trade opportunities, large amounts of money that would have been spent on

program, stations were created in the area to monitor flooding. Reports from these stations, in
addition to computer calculations, show that the total cost of the flood damage up until 2007

/ Rule Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves: / Britons never will be slaves (James Thomson and

Analysis Of Health Of Health And Wellness Essay
Analysis of Health Views Health is defined by Straub as, a state of complete physical, mental,
and social well being. It involves physical as well as psychological and social well being (2012).
The well being of an individual also includes social conditions, biological factors, and personality
traits (Straub, 2012). Both healthand wellness is highly looked over by individuals, this is until they
understand how an illnessdestroys their body. However, to understand the views individuals have
towards the concept of health and wellness one must first be aware of the definition of the term.
According to the Sage Handbook of Health Psychology, Sutton, Baum, Johnston (2004) explains
the term health refers to a range of positive states of mental, physical, and social wellbeing. The
term is not only determined by the absence of disease and illness but also by the variation of
healthful signs composed of a person s lifestyle. In addition, to physician s findings of the illness,
there are an assortment of environmental, opinionated, and behavioral factors that add to the
possible reasons behind the individual s health and illness. The purpose of the paper is to go over
the many different views of health, events that made change come true, I ll also provide the
description of the biomedical model, the transition of the biomedical model into other fields of

The Effects Of Malaria On The World s Poorest
CUNY Nobel Science Challenge Around 300 600 million people suffer from malaria each year,
and over one million people die from this disease every year, mostly children younger than five.
This disease is endemic to over 100 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and
the South Pacific, almost 40% of the world population. Malariais caused by a parasite that is
transferred by the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. The most deadly form of
malaria is known as Plasmodium falciparum because almost all deaths from malaria are caused
by this specific one. In addition to being the deadliest form of malaria, Plasmodium falciparum
destroys red blood cells along with causing complications with the kidneys, lungs, and brain. In
more serious cases, it can cause permanent neurological effects and even death. As the Nobel
Assembly said at the announcement of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Diseases
caused by parasites have plagued humankind for a millennium and constitute a major global health

Understanding Native Americans and Western Medicine
Essential Knowledge for Providing Culturally Competent Care to Native Americans
Brittany Schelitzche
Writing for Healthcare
Hennepin Technical College Native Americans and Western Medicine:
Essential Knowledge for Providing Culturally Competent Care to Native Americans
Many Alaskan Natives and Native Indians, also known as American Indians, share the same or
similar views on health and medicine. Their definition of traditional medicine incorporates
medicine and religion, various chants and rituals, and being one with Earth (Broome, B., Broome,
R., 2007). In the United States we are challenged to think about health care from our tradition as a
cultural melting pot. Therefore, we must address the large range of individual health care needs
from populations living the inner city and suburbia to those in rural environments. (O Brien,
Anslow, Begay, Pereira, Sullivan, 2002). It is important for healthcare workers to understand the
views of American Indians in order to integrate their traditional medicine as well as western
medicine. Examining areas such as common health conditions, treatments, and attitudes towards
health, natural and alternative health will lead to a better capability of providing culturally
competent care.
Introduction and Background Native Americans, such as Navajo and Cherokee, have been in the
United States for the past 12,000 years (Horowitz, 2012). Although those are the two most

Abu Sayyaf Research Paper
It is suspected that early funding and organizational support of Abu Sayyaf was provided by
Osama Bin Laden associate and brother in law Muhammad Jamal Khalifa. In 1997, the U.S.
State Department designated Abu Sayyaf a foreign terrorist organization. In January 2002,
Filipino police arrested Indonesian Islamic extremist Fathur Rohman Al Ghozi, a self confessed
member of Jemaah Islamiyah and an Al Qaeda explosives expert. Following his arrest, Ghozi led
Filipino authorities to a large cache of arms and explosives in Mindanao and told a Filipino
court that he planned to use the explosives for jihad attacks in Asia. He was sentenced to 17
years in prison. In July 2003, Al Ghozi escaped from prison and in October 2003, Philippine

The Strange Death Of Silas Deane Analysis
The Strange Death of Silas Deane shows us many different aspects of the so called American
Dream. At the beginning of this story Silas was headed to a perfect life or what we would call
an above average led lifestyle in terms of wealth and such. Over the course of his school years
Silas was able to perform extremely well and eventually attended the prestigious Yale University
and chose to study law, which later allowed him to become a lawyer. During this time period, the
American Revolution also started to arise and Silas found himself to be in the center of it. His
occupation as the head ambassador towards France allowed the country to form a strong
relationship. It developed so well that France was able to help America out in the situation, despite
proving to be aloof in most of these types of situations. Unfortunately to Silas demise, his vacuous

The desperate plea and strange departure of Silas served as an enigma to his tragic death. I, as a
reader, was brought to many conclusions starting with when Bancroft specialized in poisons.
The voyage back to the Americas brought Silas to an unexpected death. I believe mostly in the
theory of Bancroft poisoning him, which can tie into the murder of Deane Silas. Lastly I believe
the author tried to portray that the moral of greed and desperation can kill certain love or
affection you have for someone, in this case it was his longtime friend Edward Bancroft. Serving

William Blake Essay example
William Blake William Blake was born in 1757, the third son of a London hosier. Blake lived in
or near to London, a city which dominates much of his work, whether as the nightmare London
of the Songs of Experience, or the London which Blake saw as the New Jerusalem , the kingdom
of God on earth. As the son of a hosier, a generally lower middle class occupation in late
eighteenth century London, he was brought up in a poor household, a preparation for the relative
poverty in which he would live for most of his life. He also received little formal schooling, which
is all the more remarkable given both the depth and range of his reading of the Bible, of Milton and
Greek and Latin classic literature, evident throughout his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From 1779 he was employed as an engraver for a local Bookseller, and Blake continued to earn
an often precarious living from contracted engraving until, with the help of his friend John
Flaxman (1755 1826), he was able to set up his own engraving business at 27 Broad Street,
which proved not to be a successful enterprise. It is from this point, 1784, that Blake s career as
an engraver poet prophet began in earnest. Working with the help of his dedicated wife Catherine
Boucher (the daughter of a market gardener, whom he married in 1782), Blake divided his time
between composing and engraving illustrated poetry, and eking out a precarious living as a
contract engraver. His first works in illustrated painting All Religions Are One and There is No
Natural Religion (1788) followed on from the satirical verse of An Island in the Moon (1784 5),
but it was in 1789, the year of the French Revolution and the Storming of the Bastille, that saw
Blake s early masterpieces, The Book of Thel and Songs of Innocence. Between 1789 and 1800,
when the Blake s moved to Felpham, Blake was ferociously active, composing The Marriage of
Heaven and Hell (1790 93), The French Revolution (1791), America: A Prophecy (1793), Visions
of the Daughters of Albion (1793), The Book of Urizen (1794), the Songs of Experience (1793 4),

Egon Schiele, Self Portrait with Spread Fingers, 1911 (see below) Without the title or other
information provided, how would you interpret the image? How I see the image is an image of
man sitting in the foreground with his hands placed on his chest making a gesture similar to the
peace sign. His wrinkly skin, suggests he is an old man and the red scar on his cheek bone
seems like he may have been in a physical fight. As my eye wonders to the background, there is a
thin black line indicated a plant that has withered may be due to lack of water and sunlight. The

that the external circumstances are not the best living condition. The signs observed in this image,

The hand gesture in North America may mean peace but it may be change depending on the
amount of fingers used and the facing of the palm. The withered plant in the background could
foreshadow death since it can be considered a bad omen in other cultures of having dead plants in
the home. Since there is not suggestion of the location of this image, the dark brown shade on his
cheek bone may just be interpreted as a makeup trend in 1911. How does cultural knowledge
change how we make meaning from an image? The positioning of the fingers would the be first
thing that the viewer makes interpretations about. Perhaps this could have been a code or a sign
used by someone in the minority group to pass on to another group without the authority knowing
about it. The viewer s place in society, could have different interpretations of either the hand

The Self Assessment Test Assessment
The self assessment test that is offered in unit 2, is a great help in understanding the areas that we
re both strong, and weak in.Taking a self assessment is the first step towards becoming proactive in
our learning. Becoming proactive in our learning (Bethel University, 2014), can help us make
greater strides in the learningprocess. The Organizational Leadership program removes barriers to
success that adult learners face (Bethel University, 2014). As a student in the Organizational
Leadership Program, I took the assessment as well.I was surprised in the areas that I did well
in.One area that I did well in , was management and leadership of people. I am a retail store
manager, therefore I feel that this skillis a natural skill, that I embrace. Goal setting, is another
skill that I feel confident in. Given my career as a manager, I have to set goals by the shift, and
the day, as well as the week, and month.Planning, is another skill that I did well in, along with
organization. The two go hand in hand in my daily activities, and you cant be an effective planner
without being organized. The last of my top five skills would be, speaking.I am confident when I
address others, and take the opportunity to do it often. As far a the five weakest skills, I would say
that Mathematics would be at the bottom of the list, mostly due to lack of interest in math, that I
have not put forth a lot of effort to succeed in this subject. Understanding technology, is my second

We need to know the normal range of movement of the muscles and joints so when moving,

Old Fractures
Torn Muscles
Rheumatism and Arthritic conditions.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church
Spirituality has a unique definition for every individual. As for myself, my spirituality is the path to

As such, this is among America s greatest health challenges, requiring a fundamental rethinking of treatment strategies to address the worrying proportions. • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Aops In most of the AOPs a combination of these oxidation effects occur. In FentonВґs reagent for example; Fe(II) is used as a catalyst, in the process Fe(II) is brought to the other oxidation state of Fe(III), in this process OH* radicals are formed that are able to completely mineralize organic compounds. It is clear from the standard redoxpotential data that hydroxyl radicalis the strongest known oxidant (2.06 V), second to fluorine (2.23 V) (Table 1). Therefore, the complete mineralization of most of the organic matters is possible, when the hydroxyl radicals are the main oxidizing species in the solution. This is one of the major advantages of AOPs, since other chemical oxidation processes mostly lead to partial oxidation of the target compounds, ant thus, the generation of new hazardous compounds is possible. The other advantage of AOPs is the generation of neglible amounts of residues and their applicability, in case of very low... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Pros And Cons Of Blablism With Japan s economy coming in at the third largest in world its economic success has often been credited to the distinctive corporate business systems that it favours. Following the First World War Japan experienced huge economic growth which was known as the post war miracle due to the increased focus on industrial and economic goals rather than defence spending. However, this era of booming economic growth passed with its growth of gradually beginning to slow down and stabilise. This, in turn, led to Japan s economic recession and so called bubble economy which led Japan into its lost decade, with Japan struggling to sustain economic growth since the burst of the bubble economy. Although having recovered Japan s economy has never seemed to return to what it once was, with the unemployment rate steadily climbing and national debt increasing. Consequently, could this slowing of growth be due to Japans reluctance to engage in major organisational restructuring and avoid radical innovation? In this essay I will be exploring this idea further by looking at key features of the traditional Japanese businessmodel and exploring some of the darker sides of BLABALBL. I will then go on to look at the vari TOYOTISM FORDISM? Since the post war economic miracle Japan has heavily relied on its distinctive corporate business system with JOHN stating that it has been widely praised for its massive contribution to Japan s strong economic growth. While some faced what seemed to be extinction others went through a sort of evolutionary process. The bands that were at the top of the heavy metal ladder during this time were such acts as Motorhead, Iron Maiden, and Tygers of Pan Tang. These groups would be just some of what the new crop of heavy metal bands would consider inspirational. This style, which is typically referred to as The New Wave of British Heavy Metal, would fuel and empower many acts to stardom. After graduation James moved back to Downey and was offered a place to live by his friend Ron McGovney. Ron s mother owned several houses, and the vacant one James would be moving into was doubled as a rehearsal space since Ron was learning how to play the bass guitar. (Doughton 15 16) As nineteen eighty one rolled around both James and Lars were looking for musicians that shared the same taste in music they each had. Lars decided to place an advertisement in a South California paper called The Recycler. The only other ad that came close was James and so the two decided to meet. Their first practice together was anything but smooth, considering the fact that Lars was still learning and could not even keep his drum set upright. (Krgin 51) Even though Lars was clearly unprepared to make a career out of music he had made some connections. He befriended a man named Brian Slagel, who was in the process of forming his own record company named Metal Blade Records. Brian was in the middle of doing a compilation project where his goal was to expose up and coming bands to the general public. He pretty much guaranteed Lars a spot on his project if Lars could form a band. Lars got the information back to James and so they decided to give it a try. James, Lars, Ron, and a friend, guitarist Lloyd Grant went into a recording studio and recorded what would be Metallica s first song, Hit The Lights. Epilepsy Is A Central Nervous System Disorder ( Cns ) Introduction Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder(CNS) causing recurrent seizures and can only be defined when there is at least one epileptic seizure.[1][2] John Hughlings Jackson, a notable British neurologist proposed that epilepsy is an occasional, an excessive and a disorderly discharge of nervous tissue . About 65 million people(1% of the human population) in the world have epilepsy and the cases account for 80% in developing countries. [3][4] In this essay, the normal physiology of nerve transmission in cerebral cortex and pathophysiology of epilepsy will be discussed. The mechanism of action of valproate is also studied and how it leads to the treatment of epilepsy. Normal Physiology of Nerve Tranmission in Cerebral Cortex The body system that is affected by epilepsy is CNS which is consisted of the brain and the spinal cord.[5] (Figure 1) Figure 1 The major divsions of CNS[5] The brain has a part called the cerebral cortex(gray matter) which is made up of 3 to 6 layers of neurons.[7] A neuronhas three parts namely axon, dendrites and cell body.[6] Neurons are classified as principal(projection) neurons and interneurons. Principal neurons transmit information to other neurons in the brain and form excitatory synapses. Interneurons in the CNS transmit impulses locally and form inhibitory synapse.[7] Two common types of pathways for these neurons include recurrent feedback pathways and feed forward pathways.[9](Figure 2) ` ... The excitement of young girls putting on their tutus for the first time to the honor and pride of graduating seniors who are about to perform in their last dance recital. The energy is high and complex. As the seniors rehearsed their senior piece, I watched with other instructors and younger dancers. The younger students looked at them in amazement, dreaming to be in their shoes one day. But something was missing. Someone. I walked back into the lobby and saw her. She sat in a chair behind the front desk in track shorts and a Pittsburg T shirt. Parents of other students walked by congratulating her on her graduation. She smiled graciously and thanked them. Life is unpredictable. One minute you re the star of the studio. A prima ballerina. And the next moment you find yourself in a cast, sitting behind a desk, folding programs. I walked over and sat next to her. Hi, Ms. Kori. Hey, Ashley. Do you mind if we talk for a minute? I have to do an interview for a class. We could go grab some ice cream or coffee. Her face lit up and she had only one word to say. Starbucks. I helped her into Starbucks and took her order. She hobbled over to a table, struggling with her crutches. • 13. Lowering The Bourbon Supply Chain Is A Shortage Of Barrels Anyone familiar with the alcohol industry knows that bourbon is urging at the moment. Production has steadily increased over the past 15 years and there seems to be no sign of it slowing in the near future. However, this does not mean that the bourbon industry has maximized the potential of its supply chain (Lariviere, 2015). One significant risk impacting the bourbon supply chain is a shortage of barrels. There is a federal law requiring that for a whiskey to be called bourbon it must age for two full years in a new oak barrel. One would think that this law would cause an issue in that the supply of lumber to create the barrels was not sufficient. That, however, is not the case. The actual issue at hand is that there is a shortage of loggers. While the bourbon industry is urging at the moment and it does create significant revenue for the lumber industry, that alone is not sufficient to keep logging companies in business. Thus, a lack of loggers has resulted in a reduction in the amount of new oak barrels available for aging bourbon (Lariviere, 2015).. Another potential risk that could significantly impact the bourbon industry is climate change. Climate change has the potential to severely alter weather patterns that are vital for the process of aging bourbon. Barrel expansion and contraction is dependent on the changing of the seasons. Barrels are rotated throughout warehouses as the seasons change. This process helps to successfully mature the bourbon. If significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because there were knights during the Middle Ages, they used the swords and arrows to fight. Other than these weapons, they had special kinds of weapon, biological and psychological weapon. Biological weapons such as dead bodies and dead animals were used to spread the disease over the enemy camp. Psychological weapons were used to arouse fear of the knights to the enemy lines. For example, they would make an armor that is several times larger than the normal size. Then they would put the armor in the scene of victory to show the enemies. By doing this, rumors would spread throughout the enemy camp and those rumors would arouse fear of the knights. Agricultural tool was also distinct in the Middle Ages. Here is some science, just for the heck of it. In order to have a positive future, we must treat life like the experiment it is. After each test life sends your way, you must revise and edit your plan, and adjust. In order to do this, you must reflect on the past, not just yours personally, but history as a whole. It s impossible to do that correctly without the right information. For example, in the film, Saladin is portrayed as a respectful and merciful leader, despite being the antagonist. Had he been different, you would apply the knowledge and lesson differently towards dealing with the antagonist in your own story, who may be a lot less understanding or more cruel than Saladin. History applies to everyday life, whether it is dealing with someone with opposing views, or trying to make an important decision about your future. A recently modified version of the BCAV called the Windowed Bracketed CAV (BCAV W) has been suggested which integrates the maximum acceleration values for a window length of 8 seconds. Well, that is what animals who are taken out of the wild and mostly put inside a zoo feel like. Animals can receive serious health issues when kept in a zoo, most of the times not treated properly and used for entertainment rather than educational purposes. I believe that this is an urgent issue and I think that it is essential for wild animals to stay in the wild and not kept in enclosures. I believe that animals should not be in zoos because animals will have a high chance of developing a health issue. Animals, especially Elephants, are not used to being by themselves or in small groups. In the wild, they usually stay in a pack of 30 or even 40. This can cause animals to feel lonely and bored without being with their pack. Also, animals are not used to the environment that they are set in. This large canvas is mostly filled with warm hueof green, orange, red, and white, but the saturation is very dull. The dullness surrounding the city represents the state in which our society is currently living in; from the pollution, climate change, and the negative impact of urbanism on the environment. The aspect that is most emphasized is the city, which is centred in the middle and only takes up a small portion of the canvas. The city is represented by nine buildings which looks figure 1 corrupted due to uneven and lightly painted lines. • 32. Monkey s Quest For Immortality In Journey To The West Immortality has been made into this ultimate goal. Literature and films have often painted immortality as a gift only given to the few who have proven themselves worthy of it. A life full of great wisdom, experience, and many other joys. In Journey to the West, it opens up with the birth of Monkey and follows him as he tries to achieve immortality. Monkey wants immortality and is willing to do anything to get it; thinking immortality will bring him a an enlightened life. After reading Journey to the West, I believe immortality should not be something that is prized as the ultimate gift. I think living an immortal life would be far worse than a mortal one and throughout this paper I will discuss why. Why would someone want to be immortal if they cannot share their life with others? All of these experiences can be considered once in a lifetime events but to Monkey they are nothing. All in all, in my opinion, immortality is worthless. With immortality comes selfishness. Immortals seem to take everything for granted because they know they will most probably experience it again. I think living a mortal life is the best and people should stop wishing to be immortal. Article #5 In a study Herrmann, Petit, Dawson, Biechele, Halfmann, von MГјller ... and GГ¤rtner (2013) conducted a widespread screening in the admission of patients to hospitals for methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The purpose of this study is to show that to help control the spread of MRSA in hospitalby having admission prevalence screenings. MRSA is a major nosocomial infection in hospitals and has become a problem that can be hard to manage in patient safety. There are certain risk factors that a patient can possess when they become infected with MRSA or are positive carriers. So, if there can be a prevalence screening for these risk factors upon admission hospitals would be able to tell if the MRSA was acquired while in the hospital or if the patient was already infected. In the other case studies discussed they examine steps that can be taken in the case of MRSA already infecting patients and then treating, isolating, and preventing from infecting many more. The study administered by Herrmann et al. examines patients upon admission meaning this could help reduce the spread of MRSA other than finding that it infected patients already admitted. Since this study was focusing on prevalence screening they needed participates from all over the region. During this study 24 hospitals participated: 12 hospitals had less than 200 beds, 10 hospitals that had up to 500 beds, one hospital with 600 beds, and one with close to 1300 beds (Herrmann et al., 2013). ... • 34. The Effects Of Yellowstone Volcanic Complex On The World Introduction Yellowstone volcano is one of the most explosive, active silicic volcanic fields in the world and is classified as a super volcano . Its Late Quaternary history, in terms of ages, sizes and frequency of eruptions, has been well documented (Farrell et al., 2014). Understanding its properties will help us to better understand the hazards it poses, both now and in the future. As it is protected from geothermal energy or mineral exploration and development, Yellowstone provides a unique opportunity to research an undisturbed major volcanic system and the temporal and spatial changes that occur naturally (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). This report discusses the history of Yellowstone volcanic complex over the past 2.1 million years, eruptive style, compositions, associated hazards and the structure of the magma chamber. In addition, we look at areas into which research is currently occurring or should in the future, and discuss a strategy for monitoring and forecasting of future activity. History Over the past 2.1 million years, three large eruptions with widespread effects have occurred in the Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field (YPVF) (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). The first of these was 2.059 В± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), and produced the 2450 km3 Huckleberry Ridge Tuff. The second was at 1.285 В± 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), producing the 280 km3 Mesa Falls Tuff and the Henrys Fork caldera. The most recent of the three occurred 0.639 В± 0.002 ... Their definition of traditional medicine incorporates medicine and religion, various chants and rituals, and being one with Earth (Broome, B., Broome, R., 2007). In the United States we are challenged to think about health care from our tradition as a cultural melting pot. Therefore, we must address the large range of individual health care needs from populations living the inner city and suburbia to those in rural environments.
