Dissociative disorders are one of the most controversial disorders that exist. It is often argued that the
disorder does not actually exist and that people are over diagnosed. Dissociative disorders is a type of
psychological disorder that involve a sudden loss of memory of change in identity due to the
dissociation (separation) of the individual s conscious awareness from previous memories and
thoughts. A common example of a dissociation is when an individual daydreams and becomes
unaware of the passage of time. However, this is just a very mild case of dissociation and is normal to
experience. The NAMI (National Alliance on Medical Health) declares that approximately half of
Americans have experienced a dissociative episode in their life but only two percent of those cases are
severe enough to meet the full criteria of chronic episodes. This disorder is more often found in
women rather than men.
There are three main types of dissociative disorders along with a fourth type that is less often
categorized. The types of dissociative disorders are dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue,
dissociative identity disorder (DID), and depersonalization or derealization. Dissociative amnesia is

African American males in higher education have captured the attention of researchers; sadly,
exhausted amount of research has focused primarily on the failing black male, while little has been
done to address the problem. This paper focuses on factors that influence the perceptions and self
esteem of African American males in higher education, and explore why their educational
achievements are overwhelmingly lower than any other racial/ethnic group. Specifically, this review
focuses on how research in education or the lack thereof has contributed to this particular issue. The
review of literature in this paper leads to two research questions: (1) What efforts if any have been
directed to address the negative outcomes of black males in higher education? (2) What other external
factors have prevented black males from achieving their objectives at a lower rate than any other
racial or ethnic group? The following 10 reviews attempt to answer the above questions.

society for decades, but maybe the issue relies on society instead of biological differences. While
these biological differences and research show that there are small differences in cognitive brain
activity between the sexes, they also propose a theory that this is the way it s supposed to be (Pollitt
2549). Although these differences exist it does not mean that sexes should have permanently assigned
roles in society. Katha Pollitt, a feminist author and high profile activist wrote the essay Why Don t
Boys Play With Dolls, published in 1995 in The New York Times Magazine. In the essay, she argues
that biological determinism may reassure some adults about their present, but it is feminism, the
ideology of flexible and converging sex roles, that fits our children s future (2549). Pollitt raises
important ethical problems in her essay, gender roles and stereotyping. Throughout her essay she
provides several claims to her argument and builds credibility with her audience by using rhetorical

government of Among the Hidden will affect citizens, baron or farmer. Either way, there will be
attempts to voice other sides of the story. The government is spreading lies about the population
police; their deceptive ways will change citizen s lives.
Luke is the third child of a farmer s family, and propaganda deeply interfered with his life. Ever since
he was a toddler, he was obliged to a strict set of rules from his paranoid parents. Then they started
running all that on TV about the Population Police, how the Population Police had ways of finding out
everything, how they d do anything to enforce the law... And your dad started hearing rumors in town,
about other babies... (10 11) Luke s mother replied to his questioning. His mother was telling him
about the government s propaganda, the propaganda they had believed. Luke s parents fell right into
the government s trap of lies. Therefore, Luke was forbidden from watching TV, using the computer,
or calling someone on the phone, blocking him from the outside world. Being a farmer s third child
practically meant Luke was clueless when it came to real life. The doctrines of the government

and where everyone is on the field. But when you play softball you always have a rush of enjoyment,
and nerves. Softball shows friendship by how the team comes together, we laugh, smile, and joke
around all the time. Softball without friendship is almost like you are going into a war zone.
Sometimes a team full of friendships, is a team that s not ready for big the big game, or a team that
will be ready ever second for anything that could happen. A team like this will help each other
improve on the simple things, like the perfect swing, or the perfect play. Friendship can win
championships, because everyone knows what your strong point is, and talk to you when you aren t
trying that hard. And when you know how to talk with everyone they will soon find out how important
this is for everyone. And want to help win the championship for the ones that want it most. At the end
of each day its more than a friendship, it s more like a family. Everyone comes together at the end of
the season, it sad to see the good players go. And even after the season is over everyone will still talk
