Guy de Maupassant Writes in Third Person
In third person, the narrator is like another character that can see everyone in the story s point of view.
This way, the author can tell you what all of the characters are thinking. A writer s choice of a type of
narrator is crucial for the way a story is perceived by the reader. Guy de Maupassant uses a third
person limited perspective and the narrator reveals the thoughts and feelings of one character. Explicit
narration directly reveals the main character s internal and external conflict. Guy de Maupassant s
limited third person narrator creates a vivid character, struggling to acknowledge her lower class and
teaches a powerful theme about the dangers of envy . The symbolism throughout the story strengthens
Mathilde s internal conflict about being in a lower class. Guy de Maupassant uses a third person
limited narrator to characterize the depressed, ungrateful character, Mathilde, who is consumed with
envy. Mathilde is described as pessimistic and jealous of wealthy, elegant women. Beautiful Mathilde
Loisel was born into a family of clerks, and her utter conviction that her place in life is a mistake of
destiny leads her to live her life in a constant rebellion against her circumstances. Her desire for
wealth is a constant pain and distress. She cannot visit her wealthy friend Madame Forestier without
being overcome with jealousy, and the idea of going to a party without expensive clothes drives her to
tears. Mathilde is a jealous woman who will do anything in her

Some companies try to implement new ideas and ways to increase efficiency and productivity in the
workplace. This is a great idea for companies to increase the output of the product or service they are
performing for the consumers. However, not everything goes so well when implementing new ideas.
There are hardships that need to be overcome, the costs of implementing a new system can be
overwhelming at first, and many others. I will describe to you some of the hardships of adding new
groupware to a system that is already in place. Also have you ever wondered what a wiki does or what
it could do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can cause problems for the company with the loss of potentially critical information that was
needed for a project. As you can see there are many problems that can unravel just from using
groupware. These problems are extreme but a good example is myself at work. I work for the Navy in
a hospital for a basic training for the Marine Corps. We use groupware as a form for a follow up log to
determine which patients need to come back and on which day for their personal safety. Anyone that
works in the hospital has access to this log. If someone was to go into it and delete the information it
becomes potentially dangerous for the people involved in being erased if we cannot have them come
back in. Luckily this does not happen, however not everybody likes the system and they do not
implement the peoples name into the system. This can cause the superiors to get upset when it is not
up to date than someone gets in trouble causing more work for everyone else in the clinic. It also
reduces the morale of all the workers that do remember to add the names but now have to work harder
because someone did not do their job. Even with all of these challenges it allows us to be more
effective as a clinic and our efficiency is better with a lot less people being missed in coming in for a
follow up. A scorecard is a type of report that displays a collection of key performance indicators
together with performance targets for each key performance indicators. These are usually a

Arguments For Banning Books
Throughout time, countless great children s books have been published and then loved by many. To
name a few, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene and The Hunger Games by
Suzanne Collins. What do these three books have in common? They were all published as children s
books, then kept out of their hands for numerous reasons. Parents and teachers claimed these books
were unfit for children s reading. They either introduced topics that were not open to them yet or went
against their lifestyle. All around the world, great books are being kept from children for doltish
reasons. They are being censored, then banned from their eyes. Taking this literature from them is
ruining their childhood; it is preventing children from learning about the world and being ready for it.
Censoring in children s books needs to become less harsh or else they are going to grow up in a sealed
world. For years now, censoring has been limiting the public s freedom in literature, films, media, and
plenty of other categories. A big section being censored today, that troubles a lot of people, is children
s literature. Books are the most common thing to be censored, especially children s. They continue to
ban books across the world, meant to be enjoyed, for reasons they call valid. A popular excuse for
banning books is the diversity displayed in them. According to How Banning Books Marginalizes
Children , 52% of the books banned in the last 10 years were called diverse context

Air Pollution and Global Warming
Air Pollution and Global Warming

Air pollution causes global warming through the greenhouse effect, according to the United States
Environmental Protection Agency. The greenhouse effect occurs when greenhouse gases trap and heat
energy from the sun and prevent it from escaping Earth s atmosphere and entering space. (EPA, 2012)
Atmospheric pollutions are caused by gasses and solid particulates released into the atmosphere. The
most hazard atmospheric pollutions are man made by the production of products. Pollutants are
released into the air include carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and sulfur dioxide.
Side effects from global warming can be apperceived across the globe. ... Show more content on

Animals commonly fall victim to acid rain which is created by sulfur in the air caused by the burning
of coal. Sulfur is conducted in vesicles of rain poisoning streams, drinking water supplies, soil, and
injuring wildlife.
Transportation modes, industrialization and power plants are also major sources of air pollutants from
human activities. Furthermore, natural causes contribute to air pollution. For example, volcanic
eruptions release large amounts of gases and particulate matter in the air, storms producing pollen
grains, and methane gas from marshes.
The US contains 4% of the world s population but produces about 25% of all carbon dioxide
emissions. By comparison, Britain emits 3% about the same as India, which has 15 times as many
people. (BBC, 2009) We, as Americans, must have strategies and solutions for reducing and
eliminating pollution and in turn global warming begin on an individual level. Each person must first
be responsible for his or her own action. For example, disposing of household chemicals properly,
recycling and living as energy as efficiently as possible are effective ways for individuals to reduce
pollution. Also, people should hold the federal government and local state governments accountable
for monitoring and mandating industrial company s actions. For example, the EPA is responsible for
constituting unassailable and equalizes clean air levels. In 1967, Congress passed the Air Quality Act
that set forth outlines for air

The Origin Of Electricity And Magnetism
The Origin of Electricity and Magnetism
This paper is mainly about the origin and discoveries of electricity and magnetism. It is solely a
summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and has
ushered us into a remarkable new age.
First and foremost, it is about the fundamental idea of how electricity and magnetism came about,
then, the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and
the latter discoveries of mega production.
When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I
sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is like
two short circuited power cables.
At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a
nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The
electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively
charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is
surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of
orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most
orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable
configuration.

Vital Performance Measurement System Analysis
Brief audit of applicable writing
Vital Performance Measurement System (SPMS) can be both practical and broken for associations.
SPMS can help associations characterize and accomplish their key targets, adjust practices and
mentalities and, at last, positively affect hierarchical execution. Notwithstanding, SPMS has likewise
been scrutinized for a few reasons, for example, empowering unreasonable practices, smothering
development and learning, and having little impact on basic leadership forms. On the off chance that
both points of view are legitimate, by what method can associations make SPM a greater amount of an
advantage and to a lesser degree an obligation?

Besides, SPM can add to the distinguishing proof of new open doors and to invigorate authoritative

feedforward circles. In this manner, SPM can be utilized to assemble information about past
execution, additionally to actualize key goals. This majority of parts is not as a matter of course
positive or negative, but instead stresses how diverse SPMSs satisfy distinctive requirements and how
there is no one size fits all estimation framework. As a result, the drivers and motivations behind each
execution marker and of the entire SPMS ought to be expressly characterized during the time spent

The Clouds by Aristophanes Essay
The Clouds by Aristophanes Relevant in Today s World
The Clouds by Aristophanes, is a play centrally concerned with education. Aristophanes employs
satire to illustrate his conservative beliefs. It is intended to show readers that in the tendency to
philosophical subtleties lies the neglection of the real needs of the Athenians. According to
Aristophanes, philosophical speculation only acts to shake the established foundations of accepted
religion, gods, and ideals of morality.
Specifically, as it was even discused in The Apology,
Aristophanes believed that philosophical attitudes held by the
Sophists enabled those who held them to convince others of wrong or weaker beliefs simply by
sounding as if they knew what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In doing some background research into why this would be, I discovered that Aristophanes religious
undertones could stem from the fact that Athenians were trying to harmonize science and religion.
When new scientific theories were starting to surface and be questioned, many people couldn t even
consider them without sounding as if they were committing treason against the state. Aristophanes
turns to religion in order to remind his audience that both religion and science have to be equally open
to questions, critique, and even in Aristophanes case, satire. This suggestion, that certain things need
to be equally suceptable to to critique and questions can also be seen through the way that
Aristophanes suggests there is both a problem with the accepted model of a well rounded education,
and the newer model brought about by such philopophers as the Sophists. Aristophanes saw the
danger in not questioning an accepted theory or belief. Despite the fact I agree with Johnson in that
Aristophanes may be a
staunch defender of old values, Aristophanes saw that if something widely accepted was left
unquestioned for too long, it would become idle. Basically, an idea that I believe should be applied

Justification For A Qualitative Methodological Approach
3.0 Introduction
Following a critical overview of the literature, this chapter outlines the research methodology. It will
provide a justification for a qualitative methodological approach and specification of methods
employed. Highlighting the appropriateness of interviews and focus groups in relation to the
methodology and overall research. It will also provide recognition of their relative strengths and
limitations.
3.1 Methodology/Methodological approach
Research methodology and methodological approaches that is, the structured process of conducting
research and the overall concepts and theories which underpin research respectively (Bryman, 2008),
occupy a central position in the research process as they are both shaped by and translate the
researcher s epistemological position. Epistemology then refers to a researcher s philosophical stance
about the nature, derivation and scope of knowledge (Gilbert, 2008). These positions are seldom spelt
out but rather understood in the matter of research methodology and approach (Sarantakos, 2005).
As this research is exploratory in nature that is, it sought to explore and examine decision making,
morality and sense making amongst human participants I was naturally orientated towards an
interpretivist epistemological position. The central thesis of interpretivism is that knowledge, its origin
and interpretation is founded on human subjectivities and as such complemented my own world view
that knowledge is indeed

Mormon Beliefs Of The Mormons
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints also known as the Mormons was formally organized
in a small log cabin in upstate New York in 1830 (Worldwide Statistics, 2017). By 1947, the initial six
member church had grown to one million members. Today, current church members are over fifteen
million.
One of the Mormons religious belief is missionary work. The Mormons missionary work is based on
the New Testament. They serve in pairs and teach the gospel and try to attract believers to the name of
Jesus Christ. Mormon Missionaries love what they do and love to share the message of God and His
plan and the divine mission of Jesus Christ. Mormon missionaries can be seen throughout the streets
across the world spreading the word and their faith. Companionships are usually either both males or
both females, never one of each. Companionships are established to look out for one another as most
missionaries live far from home (10 Things to Know, 2017).
According to Mormonism 101 (2017), The fundamental principles of our religion are ... concerning
Jesus Christ that He died was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; all other
things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it. Some other beliefs of the Mormons, are
that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, Christ allows us to be saved from our sins and the original
Church as read in the New Testament has been restored. To further go into detail of these three, the
first is that Jesus

22 November, 2014 A Voice in Music: The Messages in Music of the Classic and Romantic Eras
Many aspects of the way people lived have changed between the times of the Romantic era and the
Classic era. Music and the Enlightenment were very big helps to this major change between eras and
in the way the world worked and how society functioned. The Enlightenment and the curiosity of man
was the cause of the exploration and discovery of new lands all around the world. These historical
landmarks were never forgotten due to the evidence being put into the literature and musical
compositions that were written at the time. These stories, songs, and operas contain hidden messages
and aspects in the music, such as certain rhythms and dynamics, that specifically refer directly to the
eras stated previously. Artists like Mozart and Haydn, and composers of opera like Giuseppe Verdi, all
have contributed to putting details of the events of the time period into their works. These genius
designers have succeeded in displaying the Romantic and Classic eras in their music. Giuseppe Verdi
was one of the greatest and most famous opera composers to live during the Romantic era. His operas,
which take place in Italy, perfectly painted a clear description of the events and social life of the time
period in which his musical pieces were written. His two most most known operas were La Traviata
and Rigoletto. La Traviata follows a woman

The structure of We The Animals, by Justin Torres, has some patchy qualities to it. In other words, it is

only reveal certain parts of the narrator s life to the readers. As a reader, I felt like there were pieces
that I was missing from the story because of the lack of transitions. It is like someone giving you a
cake with one slice already taken out. The structure of the novel contributed to my understanding of
the story because it left many things open ended for me to conclude on my own. Additionally, the
narrative of the story was coming from one individual s point of view, Whether my reasonings were

Analisis of Human Exposure to Chloroform in a Hot Tub
Abstract Hot tubs are very popular across America due to their relaxation as well as health benefits.
Hot tubs have been attributed health benefits ranging from relief of muscle and joint pain, to help in
treatment of HIV and other viral infections. Because of this, many people own hot tubs and many
more go to health spas where they can use them. On the other hand, hot tubs are not that easy to
maintain. A consistent disinfectant level must be maintained in order to inhibit the growth of bacteria
which could cause infections to the people who use them. The disinfectant of choice for most hot tubs
is chlorine, mainly because of its effectiveness, persistence in the water, and the familiarity with its
properties. Since the 70 s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with chlorine is that it reacts with organic matter in water to form chloroform, a known
carcinogen. The efficiency of chlorines disinfection capabilities depends on the free chlorine in the
water. Free chlorine refers to the amount of chlorine in the water after the demand for chlorine in the
water has been satisfied. In other words, the free chlorine is the one that s available to disinfect or kill
microorganisms. Since the free chlorine in hot tub water is recommended to be around 3 5 ppm, this
means that there will be a higher concentration of chloroform in the tub water than in for example tap
water that has free chlorine level of only 1 2ppm when leaving the treatment plant. In addition the
high temperature of the water combined with the aeration by the jet bubbles will enhance the 2
volatilization of the chloroform into the air and this increases the exposure due to inhalation. The high
temperature of water will also increase dermal absorption of chloroform. Of special interest, are
wooden hot tubs. In this case, there is a constant source of organic matter(wood) for the chlorine to
react with, and therefore increased concentrations of chloroform. This study will try to prove the
hypothesis that using hot tubs, results in elevated exposures to chloroform due to various factors that

moved her fingers in front of Helen s eyes and then desperately moved her hand in search of a

Helen reacted in a physical manner. For instance, it states Helen topples Martha on her back, knees
pinning her shoulders down, and grabs the scissors, Martha screams (Gibson 9). This quote shows
how out of control Helen has gotten. It shows the lack of discipline she receives because of how she

every time she starts acting up. This leads to her misbehaving often proving that this isn t the best
option in dealing with her. 4. Captain Keller was not easy to persuade into contacting the oculist. He

Dionysus and the Unraveling of Ideologies in The Bacchae
Dionysus and the Unraveling of Ideologies in The Bacchae
Some evaluations claim that the Dionysus appearing in The Bacchae is fairly true embodiment of the
ideals of ancient Athens. He demands only worship and proper reverence for his name, two matters of
honor that pervaded both the Greek tragedies and the pious society that viewed them. In other plays,
Oedipus consultations with Apollo and the many Choral appeals to Zeus reveal the Athenian respect
for their gods, while Electra s need for revenge and Antigone s obligation to bury Polyneices both
epitomize the themes of respect and dignity. Yet although Dionysus personifies these two motifs, his
clashes with the rest of Athenian tradition seem to make him its true adversary. ... Show more content

The Chorus first alludes to the traditional place of Athenian women with the statement, driven from
shuttle and loom, / possessed by Dionysus! (118 199), and Pentheus later employs the same motif
when threatening, I shall have them sold as slaves or put to work / at my looms (513 514). Such a
deliberate analogy amidst the clash of divine and earthly power seems to highlight the woman s
domesticated place and to call attention to her role as a pawn in the struggle between the king and the
god. Though women were almost excluded from Athenian public life and women s presence in male
company [was] surrounded by many taboos in Athenian culture, the frenzied Bacchae serve a
necessary and conspicuous function in this drama.
Women in The Bacchae not only leave their traditional place within the home but are thrust into a
promiscuous position that contrasts sharply with the usual characterization, [of] submissiveness and
modesty. The proper conduct of a Greek woman can be seen in another of Euripides dramas, Iphigenia
at Aulis, where the blameless wife is portrayed as chaste with regard to sexual matters. Certainly the
indulgences of the woodland orgies break from such secluded and silent positions of respectable
Athenian women, a challenge to traditional

I knew about music therapy before my paper because I was actually going to major in it for college. It
is interesting because I honestly knew so little on how and what music therapists really do in their
sessions. One thing I learned and found extremely interesting was how music therapy can help
children with autism identify emotions. Music therapy can help individuals identify the correct
emotions and expressions of themselves and others around them. An example is if the music therapist
plays a sad song, the child will internally feel a little sad inside, they can sing words or say
expressions that relate to sadness, and then they can look in the mirror and see their own sad face
while also looking at the music therapists sad face (Music Therapy Center of California, 2005, p. 4). I
thought it was so interesting to know that music can help children understand emotions. Music therapy
can help to lessen negative self stimulation and it can increase participation and social skills among
peers in more acceptable ways (American Music Therapy Association, 2012, p.1). Another big thing I
learned from my research is how much music therapy can help a child with autism s language skills.
Music therapy can help children who do not have verbal language express themselves and
communicate. The music can also let them participate freely. The connection between the actual music
and the interaction of play, such as listening, taking turns and responding helps them with their
communication skills (American Music Therapy Association, 2012, p.1). Some personal experiences
that I can account for is when I volunteered for a musical theater production called Razzle Dazzle.
This was a music production with adults with disabilities. Their disabilities ranged from Down
syndrome, to autism, to simply just an intellectual disability. One man by the name of UNKNOWN,
was a dancer in our show.

The Kudler Fine Foods Compensation Rates
The Kudler Fine Foods Compensation Rates The labor market of retail industries Introduction The
retail sectors are specializing in the selling of products that the consumers need in specific times and
places. However, it is hardly the retailer s responsibility to produce the goods. The retailers just act
agents, as they get the products to the consumers. Industrial retailing will focus more on the sale of
small quantities of the products to the buyers. Transformational processes are not integrated in the
retailing processes, as the retailers neither produce nor manufacture any goods. Initially, retailing was
just transacted in stores and shop. Presently, technological upgrades and developments have affected
the retailing process positively, leading to the use of electronics to do transactions. In most cases, the
retailers will transact with cash specifically during payment of the products (Retail Council of Canada,

In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons for
success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new
emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this
framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons
for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal
trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready
to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire
for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys
nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers
(Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry
required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small
firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks
developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true
for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in
his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the last paragraph, as a

requirements of the organization. When discussing and planning your organization s future, it s

combine to keep an organization on the leading edge. These components are: Strategic Employee

Career Development, and Succession Planning. Strategic Employee Planning is the practice of
developing your organizational goals and strategic plan. It is also knowing how to achieve your goals
and implement the plan. Another responsibility of employee planning is identifying the key roles and
personnel who will assist you in attaining them. Talent Acquisition and Retention is hiring new talent
into your organization and recognizing and cultivating talent you already have in the organization.
Promoting from within your organization is more cost effective and encourages employee engagement
and loyalty. Performance Management is when the right person is aligned with the right role and
position within the organization. Its end goal is to make sure that roles align with your business
strategy to achieve its goals. It develops goals for success, supports employee development, and

Individual Autonomy Essay
In this report the tensions between the claim to individual autonomy, and the obligation to conform to
community expectations will be identified and examined. Tensions arise due to incompatible ethical
and moral principles. Personal rights, and the desire to be accepted are the main causes of these
tensions. The cornerstone of communitarianism is the individual being socialised into conforming to
the foundation beliefs which contribute to the common good . Individualism on the other hand, states
that every person is of equal standing and has the inalienable right to do with his life what he desires.
It is this belief that clashes with the principle of socialisation, this is because autonomous individuals

The Red Badge Of Courage Literary Analysis
War can either forge or destroy the many that are subjected to it. Some may say that the only true
honor a man can receive is through the heat of battle. Soldiers become obsessed with the idea of
embodying the legends of the ancient Greek warriors. Although bloodlust is not the only way for this
relative glory to be achieved, it is a rather simple way. All one has to do is dedicate himself or herself
to fighting with all of his or her strength possible. There have been many wars and battles that have
molded men into legends, and the Civil War was no different. In Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of

Redemption In Henry IV By William Shakespeare
Redemption often manifests itself in those who seek affirmation from those around them due to their
own actions. During the 14th century, as the Christian influence continues to spread across Europe,
self awareness begins to increase among the population, and with it, the need for acceptance. When
acceptance paired with self awareness welds itself to the hearts of a nation, people increase the need of
redemption, rather than forgiveness. Especially common in royalty, the need to prove one s worth
often guides the choices made in sporadic moments. Throughout Henry IV, written by William
Shakespeare, the theme of redemption weaves itself into the life of Prince Hal as he seeks approval
from his father as well as from himself, to demonstrate that redemption becomes necessary in order to
truly be at peace with oneself.
Viewed as useless and a curse, Prince Hal ruins his princely reputation according to his father, King
Henry IV. As riot and dishonor stain the brow, of the Prince, King Henry IV grows increasingly
impatient with his son, even entertaining the idea that Hal not be his son (I.I). Drinking, pranks, and
utter disregard for others all culminate into the average day of Prince Hal, and none of which reflect
well on him, clearly. To make matters worse, the young Harry Percy, or Hotspur, continues to excel in
battle, and so, by comparison, making Hal look even more undesirable. The true royal duties include

These are influenced by the degree of leverage each company is using (recall that higher leverage

These diamonds taken from war zones create mad rushes for power from rebel organizations as well

Analysis Of I Hear America Singing, By Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman is viewed as the father of free verse, in spite of the fact that he didn t concoct it. Free
verse is verse without normal examples of rhyme, beat or meter. Note: free verse has musicality and
meter. The example, nonetheless, is unpredictable. Beat is regularly made using other lovely gadgets,
including redundancy, similar sounding word usage, and other sound gadgets.
The type of Whitman s verse coordinates the substance. Whitman praises the flexibility of the
individual and a festival of opportunity delighted in the United States. Since the demeanor toward
singular freedom in America was a break from European standpoint, he felt his own unique verse

Whitman expounded on normal individuals, which isn t, by and large, a break from European

was a break from conventional structures also.
Whitman commended the body and felt that the body was a door to the spirit, like in the poem I hear

The Role Of Traditional Household Gender Roles
Gender relations are not confined to the domestic arena although households constitute an important
institutional site on which gender relations are played out but are made, remade and contested in a
range of institutional arenas (Changing Gender Relations In The Household). In parallel to this
statement, women and men have always had their own perceive norm within the household. Women
are traditionally homemakers and men assume the sole status of breadwinner. However, in modern day
society men are becoming more open to the idea of gender equality in regards to family roles. Mothers
and society are socializing individuals with this norm. Currently, there is a gradual transition from a
male dominant society to gender equality. This paper will look at the impact of traditional household
gender roles by analyzing the following questions:
1. Why is there a gender shift in household gender roles?
2. What is the impact of balancing work and a family?
3. What are the benefits for the family?
4. Is gender equality within a family positively affecting society?
By understanding how this change has come about, predictions can be made to determine how this
will impact the future, to see if this will change situations outside of the home that are gender

The Importance Of Work-Life Diversity In Life
The type of environment one works in can greatly influence the risk involved and the level of
satisfaction within that career. When working in an environment with others, I prefer one that is task
driven, open to diversity, and one that promotes work life balance. With this type of work environment
a career can grow to be enjoyable and innovative. I believe work life balance is something all
individuals should strive for in careers and knowing how to balance the scale between life at work and
life outside of work is a key factor to being successful in life. Not many people know how to
incorporate and structure work life balance into their everyday lives making their jobs both stressful
and often unsatisfying. Meanwhile, having job diversity can provide the opportunity for being open to
change and the advantage of knowing how to work with various type of people. In the past, I have
worked at jobs that have incorporated work diversity and it has taught me how to be a better employee
and co worker by examining others work ethics and understanding how they view work life.
According to Waldron and Kassing (2011) having diversity in the workplace can lead to many benefits
such as an even distribution of power, commitment within the organization, and a career fulfillment
(p. 139). I feel that work relationship are not always as important as it is to understanding those

Gratitude has become defined as deeply appreciative attitude for kindnesses or benefits acquired.
Several parts of gratitude have been identified. First, a person experiences a warm sense of
appreciation toward an individual who performs a generous or desired kind act. Second, appreciation

whom appreciation is expressed, sensing the goodwill, is inclined to act positively and/or

The Puzzle Of I Will Go Back Home
Since arriving and taking the hard decision to stay in USA, I have been dreaming and envisioning the
moment I will go back home. This country with millions of miles of highways, crowded metropolises,
sunny beaches, lush rainforests and endless possibilities has been a foundation for a new beginning. It
wasn t easy to preserver and succeed all alone in this new world. Falling in love, getting married and
starting a family has been a blessing which gave me a purpose for all those countless days of hard
work and endeavor to achieve my dreams. Even though after five years everything was coming in to
place and I felt truly happy, something was still missing. The puzzle of joyful life was not complete. A
vivid memory is the day that me and my wife took the spontaneous decision to take a trip to the land I
call home. It was a beautiful and chilly Sunday morning in Orem Utah. Quiet and piece was
surrounding our apartment complex. The thick shadows of the tall pine trees were covering the terrace
screens. Our doors were open to clear out the heavy smell of burned bacon still sizzling on the stove.
It was that morning, which in a split second, me and my wife took the spontaneous decision that we
are going on a trip.
It is a torturous seventeen hours flight from Utah to Eastern Europe. Arriving at the Salt Lake City
airport suddenly hit me that my feelings of joy and excitement were exactly the opposite for my wife.
I could see her staring outside the shuttle windows with an

Should Shakespeare Be Taught In Schools
Shakespeare died 400 years ago. He is the only required author in the 9th grade Common Core. Why
is that? Shakespeare is a world known English, actor, playwright, and writer. He wrote 38 plays,
poems, and sonnets. He is being taught in freshman English classes in high schools, and making these
freshmen miserable. Shakespeare should not be included in the 9th grade curriculum because it is hard
to understand, not relevant, and meant for the theatre and not a classroom. To begin with, Shakespeare
is very hard for most 9th graders to read. Shakespeare uses language that is not modern and students
most likely did not learn. As said by Powell, the director of Salisbury Playhouse, Shakespeare had
made them feel stupid rather than empowered. (Powell). Most 9th graders do not get the language and

As Shelina Janmohamed said, The aspiration to love and be loved is present in all times and places
(Janmohamed380). There are plenty of modern authors who covers the same themes. Force feeding
children can only induce nausea and a lifelong aversion (Robshaw402) If teachers wait, students will
approach the Bard more willingly and openly. Then they will be able to appreciate him rather than
hating him. Shakespeare is difficult to read, being taught in a way that does not give him justice, and
is outdated. For these reasons Shakespeare should not be taught in the 9th grade. Do Shakespeare and
students a favor; throw him out.

Caged Bird Persuasion Essay
Authors use different kinds of persuasion to influence the reader or the person listening. They use
those modes of persuasion to get their purpose across to the intended audience. The poem Caged Bird
by Maya Angelou and Hillary Clinton s Women s Rights Speech use logos, ethos, and pathos to get
their purpose across to a wide variety of individuals.
In Caged Bird written by Maya Angelou, She has two different perspectives in the poem, one being a
caged bird, and the other being a free bird. The poem might not seem like it has much depth, but the
true meaning of this text is inspiring. This poem was able to bring hope to Americans who were
fighting for civil rights. She uses the caged bird in the poem to show the battle that many Americans
faced during this time. In one stanza, Angelou states, his wings are clipped and his feet are tied, so he
opens his throat to sing (Angelou). Although the caged bird has obstacles, like his tied feet, he sings
for freedom and to access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was there that she shed light on the accomplishments that women overcome on a daily basis. She
also talks heavily about the greatness of women coming together. At the beginning of her speech, she
states, It is also a coming together, much the way women come together every day in every country.
We come together in fields and factories, in village markets and supermarkets, in living rooms and
boardrooms (Clinton). Hillary uses the coming together as her purpose of the speech, and emphasizes
the importance of it. She uses the examples, such as coming together in fields and factories to extend
this purpose. During the time of this speech, the 1990 s, celebrating women was extremely focused on.
In 1998, the 150th anniversary of the Women s Rights Movement was celebrated, bringing much more
attention to women. It was also in the 1990 s that women s history month was created. These events

  • 2. Guy de Maupassant Writes in Third Person In third person, the narrator is like another character that can see everyone in the story s point of view. This way, the author can tell you what all of the characters are thinking. A writer s choice of a type of narrator is crucial for the way a story is perceived by the reader. Guy de Maupassant uses a third person limited perspective and the narrator reveals the thoughts and feelings of one character. Explicit narration directly reveals the main character s internal and external conflict. Guy de Maupassant s limited third person narrator creates a vivid character, struggling to acknowledge her lower class and teaches a powerful theme about the dangers of envy . The symbolism throughout the story strengthens Mathilde s internal conflict about being in a lower class. Guy de Maupassant uses a third person limited narrator to characterize the depressed, ungrateful character, Mathilde, who is consumed with envy. Mathilde is described as pessimistic and jealous of wealthy, elegant women. Beautiful Mathilde Loisel was born into a family of clerks, and her utter conviction that her place in life is a mistake of destiny leads her to live her life in a constant rebellion against her circumstances. Her desire for wealth is a constant pain and distress. She cannot visit her wealthy friend Madame Forestier without being overcome with jealousy, and the idea of going to a party without expensive clothes drives her to tears. Collaboration Systems at Isuzu Australia Limited Collaboration Systems at Isuzu Australia Limited By: Christopher Folz Jr. Instructor: Nancy Romero Management Information Systems 3/3/2012 Some companies try to implement new ideas and ways to increase efficiency and productivity in the workplace. This is a great idea for companies to increase the output of the product or service they are performing for the consumers. However, not everything goes so well when implementing new ideas. There are hardships that need to be overcome, the costs of implementing a new system can be overwhelming at first, and many others. As you can see there are many problems that can unravel just from using groupware. These problems are extreme but a good example is myself at work. I work for the Navy in a hospital for a basic training for the Marine Corps. We use groupware as a form for a follow up log to determine which patients need to come back and on which day for their personal safety. Anyone that works in the hospital has access to this log. If someone was to go into it and delete the information it becomes potentially dangerous for the people involved in being erased if we cannot have them come back in. Luckily this does not happen, however not everybody likes the system and they do not implement the peoples name into the system. This can cause the superiors to get upset when it is not up to date than someone gets in trouble causing more work for everyone else in the clinic. It also reduces the morale of all the workers that do remember to add the names but now have to work harder because someone did not do their job. Even with all of these challenges it allows us to be more effective as a clinic and our efficiency is better with a lot less people being missed in coming in for a follow up. • 4. Arguments For Banning Books Throughout time, countless great children s books have been published and then loved by many. To name a few, Harry Potter by J.K. They were all published as children s books, then kept out of their hands for numerous reasons. Parents and teachers claimed these books were unfit for children s reading. They either introduced topics that were not open to them yet or went against their lifestyle. All around the world, great books are being kept from children for doltish reasons. They are being censored, then banned from their eyes. Taking this literature from them is ruining their childhood; it is preventing children from learning about the world and being ready for it. Censoring in children s books needs to become less harsh or else they are going to grow up in a sealed world. For years now, censoring has been limiting the public s freedom in literature, films, media, and plenty of other categories. A big section being censored today, that troubles a lot of people, is children s literature. Books are the most common thing to be censored, especially children s. It is solely a summary of two natural phenomenon which have changed everything about our way of life and has ushered us into a remarkable new age. First and foremost, it is about the fundamental idea of how electricity and magnetism came about, then, the development and discoveries of sources of electricity and magnetism by many inventors and the latter discoveries of mega production. When I was a little boy, I used to wonder what causes lightning and thunder. When rain comes, I sometimes see intermittent lightning for a while before you can hear the sound of a spark which is like two short circuited power cables. At school, we all learnt about matter, which consists of atoms and molecules and every atom has a nucleus and electron(s), inside the nucleus contains an equal number of protons and neutrons. The electrons revolve round the nucleus of the atom in order to keep it stable. Protons are positively charged particles, neutrons are neutral and electrons are negative charge particles. The nucleus is surrounded by shells; these are simply orbitals in which an electron(s) can be found. The number of orbitals depends on how many electrons the atom has. The electrons which are in the outer most orbitals have a tendency of being lost or shared by another atom in order to create a more stable configuration. Long before any knowledge of electricity ... Aristophanes employs satire to illustrate his conservative beliefs. It is intended to show readers that in the tendency to philosophical subtleties lies the neglection of the real needs of the Athenians. According to Aristophanes, philosophical speculation only acts to shake the established foundations of accepted religion, gods, and ideals of morality. Specifically, as it was even discused in The Apology, Aristophanes believed that philosophical attitudes held by the Sophists enabled those who held them to convince others of wrong or weaker beliefs simply by sounding as if they knew what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In doing some background research into why this would be, I discovered that Aristophanes religious undertones could stem from the fact that Athenians were trying to harmonize science and religion. When new scientific theories were starting to surface and be questioned, many people couldn t even consider them without sounding as if they were committing treason against the state. Aristophanes turns to religion in order to remind his audience that both religion and science have to be equally open to questions, critique, and even in Aristophanes case, satire. This suggestion, that certain things need to be equally suceptable to to critique and questions can also be seen through the way that Aristophanes suggests there is both a problem with the accepted model of a well rounded education, and the newer model brought about by such philopophers as the Sophists. Aristophanes saw the danger in not questioning an accepted theory or belief. Despite the fact I agree with Johnson in that Aristophanes may be a staunch defender of old values, Aristophanes saw that if something widely accepted was left unquestioned for too long, it would become idle. It will provide a justification for a qualitative methodological approach and specification of methods employed. It will also provide recognition of their relative strengths and limitations. 3.1 Methodology/Methodological approach Research methodology and methodological approaches that is, the structured process of conducting research and the overall concepts and theories which underpin research respectively (Bryman, 2008), occupy a central position in the research process as they are both shaped by and translate the researcher s epistemological position. Epistemology then refers to a researcher s philosophical stance about the nature, derivation and scope of knowledge (Gilbert, 2008). These positions are seldom spelt out but rather understood in the matter of research methodology and approach (Sarantakos, 2005). As this research is exploratory in nature that is, it sought to explore and examine decision making, morality and sense making amongst human participants I was naturally orientated towards an interpretivist epistemological position. Because of this, many people own hot tubs and many more go to health spas where they can use them. On the other hand, hot tubs are not that easy to maintain. A consistent disinfectant level must be maintained in order to inhibit the growth of bacteria which could cause infections to the people who use them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with chlorine is that it reacts with organic matter in water to form chloroform, a known carcinogen. In other words, the free chlorine is the one that s available to disinfect or kill microorganisms. • 17. Dionysus and the Unraveling of Ideologies in The Bacchae Dionysus and the Unraveling of Ideologies in The Bacchae Some evaluations claim that the Dionysus appearing in The Bacchae is fairly true embodiment of the ideals of ancient Athens. He demands only worship and proper reverence for his name, two matters of honor that pervaded both the Greek tragedies and the pious society that viewed them. In other plays, Oedipus consultations with Apollo and the many Choral appeals to Zeus reveal the Athenian respect for their gods, while Electra s need for revenge and Antigone s obligation to bury Polyneices both epitomize the themes of respect and dignity. Yet although Dionysus personifies these two motifs, his clashes with the rest of Athenian tradition seem to make him its true adversary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such a deliberate analogy amidst the clash of divine and earthly power seems to highlight the woman s domesticated place and to call attention to her role as a pawn in the struggle between the king and the god. Though women were almost excluded from Athenian public life and women s presence in male company [was] surrounded by many taboos in Athenian culture, the frenzied Bacchae serve a necessary and conspicuous function in this drama. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I knew about music therapy before my paper because I was actually going to major in it for college. It is interesting because I honestly knew so little on how and what music therapists really do in their sessions. One thing I learned and found extremely interesting was how music therapy can help children with autism identify emotions. Music therapy can help individuals identify the correct emotions and expressions of themselves and others around them. An example is if the music therapist plays a sad song, the child will internally feel a little sad inside, they can sing words or say expressions that relate to sadness, and then they can look in the mirror and see their own sad face while also looking at the music therapists sad face (Music Therapy Center of California, 2005, p. 4). I thought it was so interesting to know that music can help children understand emotions. Music therapy can help to lessen negative self stimulation and it can increase participation and social skills among peers in more acceptable ways (American Music Therapy Association, 2012, p.1). Another big thing I learned from my research is how much music therapy can help a child with autism s language skills. Music therapy can help children who do not have verbal language express themselves and communicate. The music can also let them participate freely. The connection between the actual music and the interaction of play, such as listening, taking turns and responding helps them with their communication skills (American Music Therapy Association, 2012, p.1). Having set this framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys nowadays.
