EHR STANDARDS:
DEFINITION:
Is refers to a set of guidelines, rules, and technical and specifications that define
how electronic health information is structured, organized, and exchanged between
different EHR system.

DATA ELEMENTS:
It referred to a specific piece of health information, such as patient demographic,
medical history, medications and lab results.
CODE SETS:
Standardized code that are used to clarify and identify different health information
such as ICD codes for diagnosis of CPT codes for procedure.
MESSAGING STANDARDS:
It defines how health information is communicated and share between different
EHR systems and healthcare provider.
SECURITY PROTOCOLS:
It ensured that health information is protected from unauthorized access and
disclosures, and that the privacy of patient is maintained.

It is important for improving the quality and continuity of care, as it enables
healthcare providers assess a patient’s complete health records.

FUNDAMENTAL INTEROPERABILITY:
This levels allow different systems to send and receive health information. But the
information may not be formatted in a standard way, and may not be able to be
interpreted by order system.
STRUCTURAL INTEROPERABILITY:
This level enable health information to be exchanged in a standardized messaging
format.
SEMANTIC INTEROPERABILITY:
This levels enable health information to be exchanged in a way that it is meaningful
and can be understood by order system, such as through the use of standardized
technique, terminologies.
