Analysis Of The Book Venezuelan Crisis

INTRODUCTION He had nothing to fear; he knew he still had a measure of control over the
situation. He just had to spin the story the right way and these people would again adore him.
They had to understand that as long as they remained on land, under his wing; they were safe.
The air felt soft with the after caress of the mid day rain. Tiny droplets darkened his white suit.
The irony in the atmosphere made him crack a smile so wide he had to bend his head down to
hide it; it was perfect weather, but definitely not his definition of a perfect day. The sudden silence
meant it was time for him to make his speech. He stood, straightened himself, and... Show more

We saw a chance at greatness and we took it. And now, there is no turning back. His tone was
sharper now, more demanding, I see your faces and through them I see your hearts. You have
questions, I am the answer, I have always been... as he spoke, the fire in his voice ignited the
people; looks of curiosity were replaced with adoration. It spurred him on, he beat his chest and,
letting the moment take him, spoke like a roar, ... this is not the time to be timid; there is no
time to falter. Stand with me, stand strong because I assure you, I have a plan. The more he
spoke, the more even he began to believe his words; if the atmosphere hadn t become so tense, he
would have paused to laugh at how impressed he was with himself. But he bellowed on, all the
while sweating and breathing heavily, This insolent foreign foot has profaned the sacred soil of the
fatherland. An unusual deed in the history of civilization without precedent, without possible
justification, a barbarous act, because it infringes the most rudimentary rights of men. You all
have just witnessed an immoral and cowardly collusion of force and betrayal. The battle is
unequal because two of the most powerful nations of Europe have conducted an attack against our
country, which has barely made it out of a long and painful convalescence. He paused to catch his
breath, his words were like ecstasy

Juana s The Pearl
The impression that you get from a character may be really different from what you find out they
actually are at the end of the story. In the first chapter of The Pearl , Juana seemed to be a strong
maternal character. She seemed very brave and strong. However, as the story unfolded, her
character turned out to be weaker than she seemed to be at the start. Juana falls behind Kino s
shadow. The impression Juana gave in the beginning of the story was that she was brave and
strong. She risked her life by sucking out the scorpion s poison from Coyotito s shoulder. ...she
was like a strong man. (7; ch. 1). Reading the first few chapters, I believed that Juana was really
someone strong, someone who would have a voice. As I continued reading onto the next chapters, I
was proved completely wrong. Juana s husband Kino is the dominant person in the relationship. The
speakeralways mentioned how Juana... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end of chapters 3 and 4, I doubted my own thoughts. Juana tried convincing Kino to get rid
of the pearl. She kept telling him awful things about the pearl but he never listened to her and
refused to do what she said. Juana said,
This thing is evil...This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy us...Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it
between stones. Let us bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back into the sea. It has brought
evil. Kino, my husband, it will destroy us...Even our son. (38 39, ch. 3)
Juana kept telling Kino about how the pearl was evil. She told him twice and you can tell she
was very emotional about it because she cried as she said those words. Kino never listened to her
and refused to obey what she told him. If Juana was really a stronger character, Kino might have
listened or at least thought about obeying her rather than immediately going against her point. I
believe that this shows how Kino is more superior to Juana, hence why I believe that she falls
behind his

Students text in class while the instructor is teaching, subsequently, missing vital information,
which could lead to low GPA. According to Harman Brittany, GPA negatively correlates with the
number of text messages that student text and send in class; the more an individual text the lower
their GPA is likely to be . So, students should learn to focus and communicate with their
instructors and peer and not texting on their phones. Drivers have brought about numerous
mishaps by texting while driving. In fact, most people unconsciously text while in class, driving,
and talking to a person. The proliferation of mobile phone and its enormous use to text has given
rise to a lot of questioning whether abusing it could lead to addiction and displace one on one

addiction as any activity, substance, object, or behaviour that has become the major focus of a

title: a macro economic analysis on the health of the economy of trinidad amp; tobago
methodology employed:
Data for the economy of Trinidad and Tobago was collected from the CSO (Central Statistical
Office) Information was collected for the period (1995 2005) in the areas of economic growth as
represented by changes in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) as well as GNP (Gross National Product),
unemployment, inflation and the balance of payments. This data was then evaluated and analysed
to determine major trends or findings and make recommendations.

WHY SHOULD GDP DATA BE COATED FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO RATHER THAN
GNP DATA
For example in the reading of the budget the finance minister used GDP figures to talk about the
government s management of the economy in the year (2010 2011). GDP statics however does
state to a population listening to the budget about the efficiency of the government in
stimulating or increasing production from locally owned factors of production. GDP statics for
Trinidad and Tobago however are always more attractive than GNP statics as demonstrated in
table 1.3 and graph 1.2. Because GDP statics look and sound superior they are the choice of
politicians who always aim to impress. From graph 1.2 we see that when consideration is given
to net property income from abroad GNP is always less than GDP for the Trinidad and Tobago
economy. This is because of the large multinational (MNC) presence in

Military Career Essay
Many jobs exist within the broadcasting field. Some of these jobs include: news anchors,
cameramen, production specialists, journalists, and writers. Also, all of these jobs exist in news
agencies, regardless of the size. Furthermore, the military has its own public affairs section within
each branch. Essentially, the militaryequivalent completes the same tasks, but reports on different
types of stories. All in all, the civilian component focuses on the widespread news. Examples of
widespread news are: presidential elections, crimes, weather, or other important community events.
These stories revolve around the safety, or educating the general public on current events. On the

The mission statement for combat camera follows:
The mission of COMCAM is to provide the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), the Military Departments (MILDEPs), the combatant
commands, and the joint task forces (JTFs) with a directed imagery capability in support of
operational and planning requirements during wartime operations, worldwide crises, contingencies,
and joint exercises.
Overall, the mission is relatively simple: gather footage of combat situations on the group and
present the footage to various levels of command. The footage will then be analyzed to determine
combat effectiveness, situational status in the area, and provide historical documentation of wars
the United States is involved in. Furthermore, the footage can be used on a strategic level for
planning. All in all, the COMCAM mission is vital to the success of the U.S. troops. Also,
footage taken from Haiti or other areas destroyed by natural disasters are recorded by combat
camera. Then, this footage is shown on the news networks, which contributes to a better
understanding of the situation. Aside from the mission, combat cameramen have contributed
historical documentation as well. In fact, most of the war footage from World War I, World War
II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan was recorded by COMCAM. For example, the flag
raising at Iwo Jima was recorded by a combat cameraman. This footage is a landmark in the
history of the United States and it shown often in history books or on T.V. From a historical
perspective, this job is truly important. Overall, if the area is too dangerous for conventional
reporters, combat cameramen can retrieve footage for use on T.V., planning, or historical

Conflicts During The Cold War
During the Cold War, there were many elements leading the United States and Soviets into a
conflict and almost into another World War. The Cold War lasted from 1945 to 1991 and invented
many things, for example the doomsday clock which counts down to humanity destruction of
nuclear war, glady never reached midnight. Many of these causes were because of basic
philosophical differences between the US and USSR. Another reason would be broken promises
and unsettled arguments made during World War II or shortly after. Also the spread of communism
creating the Iron curtain building up aggression within the USA and USSR.
The First objective would be there basic philosophical differences as in how their economy and
whole government system works. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book it said that Eastern Europe had already lost to the communist and that this calls the U.S
to help out. This basically meant that communism was spreading and taking down democracy and
that the U.S is needed to stop the threat. So U.S does start helping and we start off by
experimenting on Turkey and Greece.
As the result the United State did something to stop communism spreading and so the Truman
Doctrine was formed. In 1947, Greece and Turkey were in threat by the Soviet Union and were
about to become communist but Truman tells congress for their help so they stabilize their
economy by transferring 400 million dollars and preventing them from becoming communist. This
showed nations that the United States would do anything to stop communist aggression.
In the End, no bullets were fired nor bombs were dropped but this cold war could have lead to the
next World War which would have left the world in shambles of the nuclear power each nation
had in there deposit. Each nation was close to war because of basic philosophical differences and
many broken promises but luckily the doomsday clock never reached

The Athenian Assembly Of Build A Fleet Of Triremes
According to Herodotus Histories book he states Themistocles convinces the Athenian assembly
to build a fleet of triremes , which will be explained more as you read on. Both sides had very
similar ships the Triremes which were 40 50 ton wooden warships up to 40 m long. Light,
streamlined, and manoeuvrable, they were powered in battle by 170 oarsmen split in three
ranks down each side of the ship. They were able to rapidly accelerate, break, zigzag, and turn
360 degrees in just two ships lengths, good seamanship could place the vessel to best advantage
and employ the principal strategy of naval warfare at that time which was to ram the enemy. The
way the Greeks prepared for the battle was, they had 371 triremes and pentekonters which were
smaller fifty oared ship, successfully under Themistocles, but officially led by the spartan
Eurybiades. According to Herodotus he mentions that The Athenians with 182 ships, half the
whole fleet, 40 from Corinth; 30 from Aegina; 20 from Megara; 20 from Chalcis; 16 from
Lacedaemon (Sparta), 15 from Sicyon; 10 from Epidaurus; 7 from Ambracia; 7 from Eretria; 5

Rhetorical Analysis Of Abigail Adams Letter To Her Son
On 12 January, 1780, Abigail Adams writes a letter to her son, John Quincy Adams, who is
traveling to France with his father. She encourages her son to take advantage of his travela and use
his skills and knowledge to help better himself and experience growth. Throughout her letter, Adams
uses ethos, allusion, pathos, and other rhetorical devices to encourage her son John to continue
traveling. Abigail Adam s emotional appeal was the main rhetorical strategy in her letter. When
writing, she uses a maternal tone to encourage John to make his parents and country proud. She
uses the words my dear son to address John in the beginning, and continues using the words my son
throughout. She speaks formally, with attention to detail, but this helps... Show more content on

Adams asks her son the rhetorical question, Would Cicero have shown so distinguished ...of
Catiline, Verres, and Mark Anthony? (ln 30 32). This allusion helps express that every great
man has had some sort of opposition to encourage them to go beyond their limits and do great.
After, she writes war, tyranny ... to ages yet unborn (ln 41 49) to allude to America s beginnings,
which shows her son that he can become great in the face of hardship, but only he can will it so.
Furthermore, Adams uses a reference to an author she met with, comparing her son s travels to
a river. She writes, ... To a river, that increases its stream the further it flows from its source (ln 17
18). This metaphor helps to teach her son that the more he travels, the more he can improve
himself. Adams establishes her credibility by not only being John Quincy Adams mother, but by
also being the wife of the soon to be President of the United States. Her ethos helps reassure John
that he is following the right path because he is following his mother s advice. With her ethos, she
clearly expresses how important his travels are, but she won t have to worry about him not
listening or not following her advice. She is able to put in the allusion to the past without it
sounding like a lecture. She uses her pathos to encourage her son, knowing that the respect at the
end of his travels would be worth the

Male Deception In Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a study of male deception, taking varying forms of their deceit,
betrayal and treachery. So the phrase, Men were deceivers ever, proves to be a very accurate
representation of Much Ado About Nothing. Moreover, characters such as Don John, Borachio and
even Don Pedro and Claudio prove Balthasar s phrase to ring true, through their respective roles and
intentional actions in the play. Don John, who is notably the main antagonist, is a stagnant portrayal
of Balthasar s quote. Not only does he spend his every waking moment stirring trouble, but most
importantly he takes satisfaction in it. He contingently makes it his mission and purpose to reign
havoc, and to deceive characters of another s false wrongdoing. For reference,

Essay on Teaching No, but Saying Yes
Teaching No, but Saying Yes America has the highest number of teen pregnancies with 750,000
teenage girls becoming pregnant each year and HIV, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, a leading
cause of death in young people, infects America s youth everyday (Sun). The lives of ordinary
young men and women are abruptly interrupted when they learn they will soon be parents or must
now live with an incurable disease. With this information in mind, American public schools need to
be teaching middle school and high schools students the importance of safe sex. Many programs

Schoolchildren do not know that by having oral sex, you can still contract STDs. How can
parents and teachers expect them to know when the health teachers just explain abstinence is
the key? Is talking about sex a bad thing? In society today it seems that people are afraid to speak
about teenage sexual behavior because it is something teens are expected not to do. As if just
telling teens to not have sex will just solve it all. But teenagers rarely do as they are told. Some
researches would make you believe handing out condoms and enlightening teens on sex in like
giving a pass to be promiscuous, but in all honesty this is not the message advocates and
educators are sending. Telling teens about what happens, the emotional aftermath, and the risks
involved with sex will cause them to think about it more and be more open to talking to their
parents or guardians. Many of America s young people are afraid to speak to their parents about
sex because they feel embarrassed or feel like their parents will lock them away to be sure they
abstain from sex, but talking about sex with people who have been through what teens are going
through will help. New reality television shows are depicting life as a teenage mom or what it is
like to live with HIV/AIDS. A show called, Teen Mom, a spin off of its original, 16 and Pregnant,

Mary Church Terrell Speech
What It Means to Be Colored in the Capital of the United States is a speech that was delivered to
a woman s club in 1906. The speech, delivered in Washington D.C, addressed prejudice and
humiliation the African Americans encounter in the capital city. The speeches author Mary
Church Terrell was born in 1863. Her parents were slaves, but she was born the year of the
emancipation of proclamation therefore she never was a slave herself. After getting married she
was forced to give up her job as a school teacher due to laws that prevented married women from

Stalin s Achievement of Total Power in the Ussr
Why was Stalin able to achieve total power in the USSR by the end of the 1920 s? Stalin s rise
to power was due to many different factors. Firstly, on Lenin s funeral day Stalin had given the
wrong date to Trotsky which meant that Trotsky never turned up. Stalin took great advantage of
the Lenin Levy and how they worshipped Lenin. Stalin had written a short book which had
summarised all of Lenin s ideas and plans. From the side of the new Bolsheviks, this showed
Stalin as the true heir or natural successor of Lenin which made it increasingly difficult for his
opponents to criticise him and his decisions. The absence of Trotsky at Lenin s funeral created a
large amount of political damage for him. Trotsky also had weaknesses and made... Show more

The role of the Politburo also helped Stalin achiever total power in the USSR by the 1920 s. This
is because when Lenin was bed ridden, power was passed onto the Politburo which consisted of
Trotsky, Stalin, Kamenev, Zinoviev, Tomsky, Rykov and Bukharin. The Politburo had decided
that Stalin should be the only person allowed to see Lenin, this was to reduce the pressure put
on Lenin. However rather than this helping Stalin s career, it almost ended it, this was because
Lenin had grown to hate Stalin. As a result of Stalin having a disagreement with Lenin s wife,
Lenin had written a Political Testament which portrayed Stalin as too rude, someone who would
abuse his power and someone who should be removed from his post. The real concern of the
Politburo was not actually Stalin, it was Trostky. Kamenev and Zinoviev never wanted Trotsky to
take power and so they formed an alliance called the Troika with Stalin. The Politburo had decided
not to make Lenin s testament public as it not only had criticisms of Stalin but of the rest of the
leading communists. Also it is highly unlikely that Stalin would have remained General Secretary
of the Communist Party if Lenin s views had become common knowledge. This all resulted in
Stalin s achievement of total power in the USSR, he used many factors and tactics such as
factionalism, the strength of his position in the Communist Party, his politically cunning skills and

Thucydides Peloponnesian War
The Peloponnesian War was an exceptionally predominant war that had consequential outcomes for
both Athens and the opposing side of the Peloponnesian League led by Sparta. The Peloponnesian
War was an ancient Greek war that began in 431 to 404 BC. Thucydides was an Athenian historian
who wrote the account of History of the Peloponnesian War, which became the most immeasurably

that Sicily was not much smaller than Athens conquering all of it would have brought Athens an
immense amount of resources. The Athenian force consisted of over 100 ships and some 5000
infantry (Crystalinks.com 2015). When the armada landed in Sicily, Lamachus recommended to
attack immediately as to take the main city when it was still unprepared despite that the other two
commanders suggested different approaches. The Athenians created a base in Catana and defeated
the Syracusans in battle, nonetheless illness, political sabotage and death had struck the three
commanders causing crucial complications. Hermocrates convinced his men to extend the city s
fortifications and reformulate the structure of command. The new system failed and the Athenians
laid siege to Syracuse. Athens sent reinforcements to Syracuse, and very burdensome, Sparta
declared war on Athens, this made spreading the required resources difficult. It did not take long
until the Athenian Expeditionary Force was conclusively destroyed. Thucydides however states
that the Sicilian Expedition contained some of the greatest action in Greek history To the victors

A Country Using A Central Government
Running a country using a central government has always been a topic of debate.
How do a handful of people govern the free will of millions of others? The details of the
word govern used in the previous statement have evolved into a seemingly endless
quantity of laws, acts, policies, taxes, rules, parties, and on goes the list. Though
government is growing evermore punctilious in it s outward appearance, these
meticulously crafted rules or guidelines are the tools used by the government to
promote the well being of the nation. Whether or not these tools are used effectively and
frequently enough is a question that arises many different responses, often differing
vastly. Personally, I believe the government does well in some aspects of the well being
of our country but not so well in others.
At the very basis of the federal government s involvement in privacy lie the
Fourth and Fifth Amendments. The fourth amendment was composed with one sole
purpose: to guarantee security in one s rightful domain. So long as a citizen is law
abiding, this amendment provides legal privacy of their property. The Fifth Amendment
guarantees that private property shall not be taken for use of the public, without just
compensation. In regards to private property, these two Constitutional Amendments
create a crude yet stout foundation to protect one s property. The Federal Government
enforces these amendments through the due process ; typically meaning the

Tax Law and Accounting Paper
Tax Law and Accounting Paper In today s financial world, preparation and reporting of income
taxes has become one among the other main reasons why individuals and businesses are keeping
and maintain their financial records. However, there has been some controversy between tax laws
and accounting under the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Simply because IRS
is not always agrees with GAAP s principles and thus creates its own taxlaws. This paper will
discuss the objectives of modern income tax statutes, compare and contrast the GAAS and tax
accounting, and differentiate between tax avoidance and tax evasion.

It is basically a legal process of avoiding paying too much taxes through finding tax loopholes, by
using the existing tax laws at own advantage (Murray, 2008). One example of tax avoidance was
shown by Browning in her article, IRS Aims to Curb Offshore Tax Avoidance Tactic, where she
showing on how internationally trading companies try to avoid taxes by using the transfer
pricing tactics. The transfer pricing tactic stands for companies transferring their income back
overseas by undercharging or overpaying foreign subsidiaries for goods and services (2008, p.
6). While such companies are supposed to calculate those prices as if they were between
independent entities and pay taxes, typically 35 percent, on profits brought back to the United
States (Browning, 2008, p. 6). Other examples of tax avoidance include but not limited to
various tax allowances for education, medical bills, to reduce some amount for each depended,
etc. Tax evasion, on the other hand, is the other side of the tax avoidance and is considered to be
a crime. It is a willfully attempt to evade or defeat the payment of federal income taxes (Lectric
Law, 2008). The tax evasion involves failing to report an income, or improperly failing
deductions which are not authorized by the IRS. Stark (2008), provides some examples of tax
evasion. First example includes sales tax evasion, when a retailer offers to let a customer pay cash

On the Waterfront and how Religious Figures are Supposed to Affect their Community Through
the character of Father Barry, On the Waterfront argues that the implementation of Catholicism in
the workforce allows for the improvement of workers physical lives through the exposure of
corruption of power. At the beginning of the film, Miss Doyle confronts Father Barry s apathy
towards his flock s physical conditions with an angry exclamation of, Did you ever hear of a saint

Software Engineering Vs. Federal Aviation
The author of the article mainly discusses about the two approaches that are useful for Software

As technology is increasing on a rapid scale there is much need for the different software
development approaches to be modified and enhanced in order to face the present customer
requirements and blooming Technology market. Believers of the old approach of software
development finds its best in developing with planning, reusability, predictability that helps to

XP is one of the agile methods which is defined as Extreme Programming, many new developers
and designers are tending to follow these methodologies than the age old techniques. But managers
who are accustomed to the traditional way of software development are finding it difficult in
accepting these new approaches. Furthermore the plan driven approach also has many underlying
advantages such as focusing on the major goals of the project which is named as major milestone
on the contrary to micro milestones or inch pebbles . In the plan driven approach more planning is
emphasized which pressurize the development teams to follow the pre specified documentation
even at the minor levels of modification at technology, commercial and personal aspects. The author
of the article suggests that there should be at least three milestones in the software development
process. Firstly for the progress of the project in order to know the current status of the project.
Secondly for the stakeholder s checkpoint i.e. to check the progress on the development process
form the stakeholders point of view whether the commitment given to them is fulfilled or not. The
planning spectrum demonstrates the models on straight line where the unplanned hacking is on the
left of the spectrum and the inch pebble in on the extreme right.
Now after brief discussion of the different approaches the author tries to explain the advantages and

Puberty Rites Of Passage
In many cultures around the world, ceremonies are held or rituals are undergone to mark the
passage of adolescents into adulthood. These are known as rites of passage. Rites of passage, is a
term first coined by Arnold Van Gennep in 1909 to describe the universal transition of adolescents
by maturational progression, a phenomenon that is cross cultural (Gibson, 2007). Indeed, the term
puberty rites and rite of passagecan be used interchangeably. Because puberty is an experience all
humans have, the rite of passage may reflect cultural evolution as co occurring with bodily
changes (Weisfeld ,1997, as cited by Gibson, 2007). Rites of passage can also signify changes of
status in other stages of life, and these transitions seem to be demarcated... Show more content on

It is theorized that the adolescent rite of passage has lost its importance because of a change in
focus from communal concerns to individuality, or exposure to varied belief systems (Gibson,
2007). Some youth, who lack the completion of these semblances of rites, create their own
through activities such as the use of substances, body modification, or gang initiation (Sande,
2002; Vigil, 1996; Wall, n.d., as cited by Gibson, 2007). A possible reason for the fading of formal
rites, is a societal move away from the importance of sexual maturity for reproduction reasons to a
society that instead imbues status for financial and vocational gains (Gibson,

Attending the psychology lecture has been an interesting experience for me, which I learn about
different psychological theories explaining how our behaviors and thoughts are changing by the
surrounding stimuli and factors. While I attain the theoretical knowledge, I also understand the
important to convert this knowledge into daily applications. Among the theories I have learnt in the

somehow relate it to myself and the psychological development of my little brother. Moreover, it
seems a more controversial theory when compare to other psychologyperspective.

Why Is Peter Pan Uncovered
Peter Pan Uncovered After reading Peter Pan, any well minded person will acknowledge that
Peter is not a normal character. What is Peter? Is he a ghost, a spirit? Peter is a thought that the
Lost Boys have planted in their minds and imagine him there. A few reasons why this is true is
he can t be touched nor does he have weight. All physical things can be touched have, weight and
are real and are not produced by the mind. Peter is not normal, he is special and needs explaining.
In the story it clearly states that Peter is not to be touched.Obviously, if you are real you can be

FEASIBILITY STUDY
Feasibility reports describe one or more design solutions to a specific problem and determine if the
proposed solution is practical and feasible. Preferably, more than one solution is offered, in which
case the report compares the various designs and determines which option is best. Design and
feasibility reports are essentially the same type of document, differing only in the amount of
emphasis placed on practical and economic viability of the design in comparison with other possible
solutions. A design report, often very similar to an internal proposal, focuses on describing one
specific implementation. A feasibility study, on the other hand, also emphasizes the investigation
and comparison of alternative solutions. Design reports and feasibility reports are crucial for
decision making and product development in almost any technical organization. They document an
engineer s thinking through a solution to a problem, a description of the solution, and the reasons
why that solution should be implemented. Managers need accurate and comprehensive feasibility
and design reports to decide where to commit scarce resources. In addition, an accurate and
comprehensive design report helps in developing other documents, such as formal proposals,
specifications, and work plans.

Hypercritical Analysis Of Beauty And The Beast
In recent years, Disney has begun concerted efforts to adapt several of their animated classics
into live action movies. Though this move has garnered new interest in the original versions from
new audiences, older audiences that grew up watching these beloved classics have had mixed
reactions to the remakes of their childhood favorites. This year s Beauty and the Beast, an
adaptation of the animated movie of the same name originally released in 1991, was received
warmly by nostalgic audiences, highly criticized by those that disliked the changes to the plot or
the casting, and even boycotted by those that believed there were controversial themes included
(Han). Josh Spiegel, co host of the Mousterpiece Cinema podcast and a member of the Online Film
Critics Society (OFCS.org), was one of the many respected reviewers that disparaged and
nitpicked to find fault in the live action version. While his analysis on Slash Film was well
written and contained a few valid points, I disagreed with much of his Beauty and the Beast movie
review. As I read Spiegel s often hypercritical analysis of the film, I found that my opinions were in
direct contrast to many of his points. One such point of contention was his strongly held belief that
including additional backstory to the movie to provide answers for the previously unanswered
questions distracts from the appeal of the mystery surrounding the unusual circumstances of the
plot. He attempts to persuade the reader of his point by making

in many ways it is the same discussion that led to the end of prohibition. Generally, the opposing
arguments are geared toward moral standards and focus on correlation as causation; the arguments
for legalization are generally based on university studies and case studies from other countries and
states that have already legalized marijuana. This essay will attempt to dispel the... Show more

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life;
however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his
famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be
observed as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen.
Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first
concerto at the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian
courts and in the houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from
God. He traveled all over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he
was even ten years old. By the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began
touring with his Italian operatic style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the
Church was entitled, Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of
styles and was known for using fugues and dramatic expressions.
At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend.
Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all
genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte.
In 1791, he contracted the rheumatic inflammatory fever and passed away early at the age

psychopathy paper, I saw it in theaters when it was originally released and it has been one of my

bona fide psychopath. I will go into greater detail about the reasoning for this later, after discussing
what exactly being a psychopath entails and the different traits that are used to characterize them.
Believe it or not, many people in today s society cannot really distinguish between the two terms,
psychopath and sociopath. Back in the early 1800s, the doctors that were working with mental
patients began to realize that some of their patients who appeared outwardly normal had what they
termed a moral depravity or moral insanity . These patients seemed to have no sense of the rights of
other people, or even of ethics in general. The term psychopath was initially applied to these
individuals around the beginning of the twentieth century. In the 1930s, the term switched to
sociopath to focus more heavily on the detrimental effect that these people can have on... Show

Lactose intolerant individuals experience many uncomfortable symptoms after consumption of

The Effects of Warfare has changed drastically since World War I. No longer are we set to just
rifles and explosive weaponry. We are to the point of new extinction with the weapons we have

Lockouts refer to when owners or management closes their doors to their employees. A strike is
when employees refuse to work. In most cases labor unions are born out of unfair working
conditions and wages were salaries that may be minimal. One might not think of poor working
conditions minimal salary when it comes to the three major sports of professional baseball
professional basketball in the National Football League. You look at athletes like Michael
Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Peyton Manning, and Alex Rodriguez and see the amount of money that
these individual have earned through the years of playing professional sports you would have a
hard time finding anyone feeling sorry for them. When it comes to these perks that today s
professional athletes enjoy is do to those who came before them that had the audacity to challenge
the owners. What is diplomacy, knowing how to deal with people in a particular way to ultimately
get what you want. That s my interpretation of the diplomacy as it pertains to negotiations. In
sports one may ask how negotiations spiral out of control to the point where you get some type of
work stoppage by strike or by lockout. Fans are getting upset and disgruntled and question, it s all
about greed millionaires battling billionaires. What could be leading to the lockouts what factors
would get in the way of some tough but rational negotiations. Fundamentally when it comes to the

Kraft Foods, Inc.
Case Topic, Setting, and Perspective Kraft Foods, Inc. pursued an aggressive launch of coffee
pods in the United States, but had less than a month to decide whether Kraft should proceed with
a similar launch in Canada, or await the U.S. results. However, a Canadian launch withholds
several decisions. A suitable branding strategy is necessary, wholesale and suggested retail price
for coffee pods, choose which flavors to offer, and decide whether Kraft should use traditional
distribution channels or direct to store (DSD). Also, the development of an effective advertising
and promotion strategy on a relatively limited budget is necessary. From a consultant perspective,
Kraft has chosen to pursue the Canadian market. Kraft has chosen a Canadian test market
because a test market assumes less risk, less cost, and insightful information regarding the
purchase of coffee pods in a foreign country. History and background Kraft is an innovative
company that started over 100 years ago, in 1903, by a man named James Lewis Kraft. This man
decided to get into the cheese business and purchased wholesale cheese. He then began selling this
cheese to small stores in Chicago, Illinois. With the help of his brothers, the business grew
exponentially and they eventually began manufacturing their own cheese. With its continued
expansion and growth, Kraft quickly became a common household name, and by 1926 sales were
$36 million. Over the years Kraft expanded its product line to Philadelphia cream

Analysis Of saturn His Son, At The Museum Of El Prado...
I first saw this painting, Saturn Devouring His Son, at the Museum of El Prado alongside the other
Black Paintings. My initial reaction was of fear. These are artworks that should not be simply seen
in front of a computer screen. The thickness of the paint and the careful attention to details; these
are things that are missed if not seen in person. Upon walking into the small room the first painting
that draws the attention of visitors is this painting. Not only is this a grotesque piece in an
otherwise frightening room, Saturn also looks like he s rather enjoying this action, and his
intense glare from his bulging eyes gives the impression as if you (the viewer) are the next target.
The goal for this essay is to show Goya s way of depicting events that have affected not only
society but him personally.
It is a mythological subject that literally shows Saturn devouring his son. Light is very important as
it focuses directly on the face of Saturn and the body of his son. It is a blinding light that leaves
the dark background with a feeling of gloominess. The composition revolves around a single plane
in which Saturn is placed devouring his victim. The dark background marks the sense of depth.
Violent motion appreciates both his posture, and his mouth. His face reflects an expression of
drama and tenebrism. The predominant color on the drawing emphasizes the dark tones that
contrast with the clarity of the body of the victim. His deformity produces more drama in the scene.

International Marketing Report
International Marketing Report The 21st century has led the commercial organizations to the
era of cut throat competition where the existence and survival of organizations is at stake. The
competition is further increased with the wave of globalization which has promoted trade
across borders. This trend has raised the quality standards as the consumers are aware of their
rights on the manufacturers and the society. Every year, brands of the years are awarded to the
most successful and favorite organizations of the world in every industry. This paper is about
BMW, one of the best global brands in the modern 21st century (Interbrand, 2012). BMW is a
brand of vehicles which is considered a symbol of quality and status among its customers
(Gantriis, 2008). The brand offers variety of products ranging from motorcycles to cars. The
brand is famous for high quality engines installed in the BMW vehicles. The reason of engine
strength lies in the fact that the idea of BMW car manufacturing was conceived from the
practice of producing aircraft engines. There was a time when BMW was only an engine
manufacturer and the engines were installed in various vehicles. The success in the field of
powerful engines led BMW to start its own manufacturing plant for vehicles. The production
started from motorbike in 1923 (BMW, 2012) and the dawn of 1929 witnessed the first ever car
produced by BMW (Wired, 2007). The headquarters of BMW are located in Munich, Germany

Analysis Of The Crucible And Half Hanged Mary
The Crucible and Half Hanged Mary were written and based off of the Salem Witch trials. The
Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200
people were accused of practicing witchcraft and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony
admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. This is
similar to today in that today, people are being accused of things they haven t done just because
they look a certain way or are similar to the people who actually did something bad. Being
falsely accused of something can send people into hysterics and send them into a downward
spiral. While both Atwood and Miller both seek to reveal the injustices incurred by the victims
of the Salem witch trials, Miller focuses on the effects of hysteria and religious zealotry on
society, while Atwood aims to commemorate the excruciating experience of a single victim. In
Half hanged Mary, the use of first person allows the reader to read the thoughts of the person
speaking or thinking and allows the connection between reader and character to grow. While in
the crucible, having the reader be told the story from the narrator s perspective allows the reader a
window to see into each and every character s thoughts. Miller wanted to show everything going on
from the thought of every character to what the character says. Miller writes, (laughing bitterly)...
(He turns suddenly toward a sound outside. He starts for the door as Mary

The Word Nigger
Words Cut Deeper Than a Knife The word nigger is a word of many and various meanings with
plentiful purposes. It is like no other word. People use this word to criticize, harm, exclaim, and
even to sound cool to others. There are so many variations of the word nigger that could seem
less harmful like nigga , nig , etc, that are used to disguise true intentions. To determine the
meaning of the word nigger it is crucial to look deeply at the scenario because it can be used in
so many ways for so many reasons. For instance, overlooking the time period, the geographical
location and the acts unfolding could lead to a misunderstanding of the true meaning of the word
nigger . The two biggest things to consider when determining the true meaning of the word is to
recognize who is using the word and who exactly the word is being targeted towards; but failing
to recognize other factors also help when determining the connotation. Race is a huge part of how
this word is defined. Because this word has a greater effect on black peoplethan white people, it is
very common for a black person to be more offended when the word is used. I, personally, have

The Roman Family Essay
The Roman nuclear family, composed of parents and children, shared lives intimately and
influenced each other in ways outsiders did not. Livy, in a quote debating the legal status of
children between patricians and plebeians, stated Of course, the children follow the father. In
Roman society, fathers were considered the most powerful. Romans believed in a theoretical
concept of a father s absolute control, but in reality, all family had power and fathers could be
challenged. Traditionally, fathers could discipline their children harshly, but by the late Roman
Republic, society discouraged extreme measures. In legend Titus Manlius beheaded his son for
leaving his military post against orders. Livy condemned it since such violent punishments were
rarely utilized with other options available. Fathers could kill their children in theory, but this
was not typical or even desirable to society, despite traditional support. Cato the Elder claimed
striking a wife or child was sacrilegious, so violent punishments were disagreeable to many
Romans. When a man called Cicero effeminate, he quipped that his son, known for prostitution,
needed to be spoken to that way by the father instead. While the father had to exercise leniency, he
exerted power too. After marriage, the father s control was transferred to the husband. Cato not
only controlled his wife s life by making her only take approved medicines, he also forced her to
nurse both her children and slaves, an undesirable

How To Write A Robotic Basketball Essay
Tiarra Rodrigues and Ryan Hunter
Robot Basketball Essay #1
In order to actually make a basket, you have to understand the basic fundamentals of shooting
which involve simple mechanics. Firstly square your shoulders towards the target whether it is a
wall or the actual basket. Place your dominant shooting fingers under the ball, tuck your elbow
close to your body and balance the ball lightly to achieve a greater percentage of success. The
horizontal and vertical alignment of the person to the court needs to be at a reasonable distance to
start off if you are a beginner. The most common shot is known as the free throw shot (used by
mostly younger individuals) in which the person should lack the strength/ability to shoot the ball
with one hand. Rick Barry, the former NBA player, was an advocate of channeling... Show more

After the final dribble, the ball should meet the person s hand and shouldn t cross their mid line.
There is a shot also called a jump shot in which a person is to jump straight up and perform the
basic shooting form. One of the more famous shots is known as the dunk; also the most popular
person to perform this particular shot Michael Jordan. Dunk totals represent a general
aggressiveness needed by a player to access this shot: a willingness to persevere through people
and down the court, pick up your place from fouls, and to try for the offensive rebound, and athletic
ability must be prominent all things that a good team should have. Dunks are attained by a negative
stigma from basketball purists because many have no compassion when their head is in the game
such as players like Andre Iguodala: star players on bad teams whose score and dunk has garnered
them more media attention from the public which helps the team but also turns one against his
team mates also their financial compensation is endowed more than their actual natural basketball
skills. Centers and power forwards are the types of players who

The Thematic Intentions of
Sunset Boulevard
The film Sunset Boulevard directed by Billy Wilder and staring the main characters of Norma
Desmond, Joe Gillis, and Max Von Mayerling is ideal example of how important film making
techniques help depict a movie s core theme intentions with vivid clarity. Classic Hollywood is the
first thing that comes to mind when one speaks about this film s style. This signature category
combined with the visual style of realism and it s continuity editing; detailed mise en scene and all
of its characteristics; and lastly the use of reoccurring motifs with formalistic qualities make the

He says, ...poor sucker, he always wanted a pool. This here is our first look at one of the motifs
involving the idea of a dream. Throughout the movie that motif is seen in several different ways,
this is just one of them. In almost all of the depictions this dream is some how linked with being
shattered or simply not being what it s thought to be all. The jest of it is the fact that it does draw
a parallel to extreme negativity and it also begins to show specifically how Wilder uses formality
in parts of his direction.
For this establishing scene the realism is viewed simply through the continuity editing that I have
already touched on in some detail about the actual shots, angles, and camera movements involved
here. This invisible style that is seen in so many Classic Hollywood films makes it seem like what
is shown definitely could happen in real life. The only thing here that might not go hand in hand
with that is the fact that this type of depiction was definitely not what the industry and the audience
in their own reality was used to. Therefore, the superior thing about this fact is that because we
know that it was not normal for its time, it takes that central theme of industry decryption and
makes it even more poignant by itself and especially to the people that first saw this

Equilibrium Lab
The purpose of this lab was to be able to identify the factors that contribute in allowing carbon
dioxide to exist as a solid, liquid, and gas. By performing this experiment, we were able to have a
better understanding of the three phases being in equilibrium with each other. In its natural state,
carbon dioxide exists as a solid. In order to exist as a liquid, the pressure required to make this phase
change must be at minimum 5.11 atm. Once the solid carbon dioxide melts, the triple point is
achieved through the energy that was absorbed. This point demonstrates that the three phases are
now in equilibrium with one another. This experiment allowed us to determine that both pressure
and temperaturehelped carbon dioxide exist as a solid, liquid, and a gas. The first step needed to

When securing the pipette we noticed that it was hard to tie because of the built up of the
pressure. The water also contributed in this process because as the solid carbon dioxide was
placed into the room temperature water, it was able to turn into a liquid then as a gas. In addition
to an increase in pressure, we learned that an increase in temperature also took place. The starting
temperature of the solid carbon dioxide was 78 degrees Celsius but after reacting with the room
temperature water to reach the triple point, it increased to 56.6 degrees Celsius. When comparing
our data with other groups, we found that they also noted the same changes in pressure and
temperature when they performed the experiment. This proved that our evidence and data was
correct and the experiment was a success. Ultimately this lab was significant because we learned
that temperature and pressure were the forces that contributed to the existence of carbon dioxide in
a solid, liquid, and gas

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Venezuelan Crisis Name: Olatunde Ayo Ogunlana Title: Venezuelan Crisis 1902 Date: May 2, 2014 INTRODUCTION He had nothing to fear; he knew he still had a measure of control over the situation. He just had to spin the story the right way and these people would again adore him. They had to understand that as long as they remained on land, under his wing; they were safe. The air felt soft with the after caress of the mid day rain. Tiny droplets darkened his white suit. The irony in the atmosphere made him crack a smile so wide he had to bend his head down to hide it; it was perfect weather, but definitely not his definition of a perfect day. The sudden silence meant it was time for him to make his speech. He stood, straightened himself, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We saw a chance at greatness and we took it. And now, there is no turning back. His tone was sharper now, more demanding, I see your faces and through them I see your hearts. You have questions, I am the answer, I have always been... as he spoke, the fire in his voice ignited the people; looks of curiosity were replaced with adoration. It spurred him on, he beat his chest and, letting the moment take him, spoke like a roar, ... this is not the time to be timid; there is no time to falter. Stand with me, stand strong because I assure you, I have a plan. The more he spoke, the more even he began to believe his words; if the atmosphere hadn t become so tense, he would have paused to laugh at how impressed he was with himself. But he bellowed on, all the while sweating and breathing heavily, This insolent foreign foot has profaned the sacred soil of the fatherland. An unusual deed in the history of civilization without precedent, without possible justification, a barbarous act, because it infringes the most rudimentary rights of men. You all have just witnessed an immoral and cowardly collusion of force and betrayal. The battle is unequal because two of the most powerful nations of Europe have conducted an attack against our country, which has barely made it out of a long and painful convalescence. He paused to catch his breath, his words were like ecstasy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Juana s The Pearl The impression that you get from a character may be really different from what you find out they actually are at the end of the story. In the first chapter of The Pearl , Juana seemed to be a strong maternal character. She seemed very brave and strong. However, as the story unfolded, her character turned out to be weaker than she seemed to be at the start. Juana falls behind Kino s shadow. The impression Juana gave in the beginning of the story was that she was brave and strong. She risked her life by sucking out the scorpion s poison from Coyotito s shoulder. ...she was like a strong man. (7; ch. 1). Reading the first few chapters, I believed that Juana was really someone strong, someone who would have a voice. As I continued reading onto the next chapters, I was proved completely wrong. Juana s husband Kino is the dominant person in the relationship. The speakeralways mentioned how Juana... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end of chapters 3 and 4, I doubted my own thoughts. Juana tried convincing Kino to get rid of the pearl. She kept telling him awful things about the pearl but he never listened to her and refused to do what she said. Juana said, This thing is evil...This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy us...Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it between stones. Let us bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back into the sea. It has brought evil. Kino, my husband, it will destroy us...Even our son. (38 39, ch. 3) Juana kept telling Kino about how the pearl was evil. She told him twice and you can tell she was very emotional about it because she cried as she said those words. Kino never listened to her and refused to obey what she told him. If Juana was really a stronger character, Kino might have listened or at least thought about obeying her rather than immediately going against her point. I believe that this shows how Kino is more superior to Juana, hence why I believe that she falls behind his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Rhetorical Analysis Of Abigail Adams Letter To Her Son On 12 January, 1780, Abigail Adams writes a letter to her son, John Quincy Adams, who is traveling to France with his father. She encourages her son to take advantage of his travela and use his skills and knowledge to help better himself and experience growth. Throughout her letter, Adams uses ethos, allusion, pathos, and other rhetorical devices to encourage her son John to continue traveling. Abigail Adam s emotional appeal was the main rhetorical strategy in her letter. When writing, she uses a maternal tone to encourage John to make his parents and country proud. Adams establishes her credibility by not only being John Quincy Adams mother, but by also being the wife of the soon to be President of the United States. Her ethos helps reassure John that he is following the right path because he is following his mother s advice. With her ethos, she clearly expresses how important his travels are, but she won t have to worry about him not listening or not following her advice. As if just telling teens to not have sex will just solve it all. But teenagers rarely do as they are told. Some researches would make you believe handing out condoms and enlightening teens on sex in like giving a pass to be promiscuous, but in all honesty this is not the message advocates and educators are sending. Telling teens about what happens, the emotional aftermath, and the risks involved with sex will cause them to think about it more and be more open to talking to their parents or guardians. Many of America s young people are afraid to speak to their parents about sex because they feel embarrassed or feel like their parents will lock them away to be sure they abstain from sex, but talking about sex with people who have been through what teens are going through will help. Firstly, on Lenin s funeral day Stalin had given the wrong date to Trotsky which meant that Trotsky never turned up. Stalin took great advantage of the Lenin Levy and how they worshipped Lenin. Stalin had written a short book which had summarised all of Lenin s ideas and plans. From the side of the new Bolsheviks, this showed Stalin as the true heir or natural successor of Lenin which made it increasingly difficult for his opponents to criticise him and his decisions. The role of the Politburo also helped Stalin achiever total power in the USSR by the 1920 s. This is because when Lenin was bed ridden, power was passed onto the Politburo which consisted of Trotsky, Stalin, Kamenev, Zinoviev, Tomsky, Rykov and Bukharin. The Politburo had decided that Stalin should be the only person allowed to see Lenin, this was to reduce the pressure put on Lenin. However rather than this helping Stalin s career, it almost ended it, this was because Lenin had grown to hate Stalin. As a result of Stalin having a disagreement with Lenin s wife, Lenin had written a Political Testament which portrayed Stalin as too rude, someone who would abuse his power and someone who should be removed from his post. The real concern of the Politburo was not actually Stalin, it was Trostky. Kamenev and Zinoviev never wanted Trotsky to take power and so they formed an alliance called the Troika with Stalin. The Politburo had decided not to make Lenin s testament public as it not only had criticisms of Stalin but of the rest of the leading communists. Also it is highly unlikely that Stalin would have remained General Secretary of the Communist Party if Lenin s views had become common knowledge. This agency will oversee the implementation of legalization, furthermore, it will function as the standing agency for all marijuana related commerce and practices. The policies enforced by the FMRA will include but are not limited to the following: All THC containing products will be marked as such and present a warning of the negative effects. Furthermore, all THC containing products will display an ingredient list and potency information. The manufacture and production of any THC containing products will be subject to all OSHA regulations, and all safety and standards practices in the FMRA guidance manual. Any discrepancies found during annual inspections will incur a fine of up to $25,000, based on annual sales. No person under 21 will be eligible to work in direct contact with any THC containing products. Any merchant selling/serving marijuana must have the required permit and no persons under 21 will be allowed inside. A permit must be acquired at the expense of the grower, distributer, vendor, or merchant. This permit will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life; however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen. Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues and dramatic expressions. At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend. Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die ZauberflГ¶te. In 1791, he contracted the rheumatic inflammatory fever and passed away early at the age ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nightcrawler A Sociopath Analysis It was a pleasant surprise seeing that NightCrawler was one of the film choices for this psychopathy paper, I saw it in theaters when it was originally released and it has been one of my all time favorites ever since. Even after rewatching it countless times since, the movie still never fails to keep my attention. One thing is for sure, Jake Gyllenhaal s character, Louis Bloom, is a bona fide psychopath. I will go into greater detail about the reasoning for this later, after discussing what exactly being a psychopath entails and the different traits that are used to characterize them. Believe it or not, many people in today s society cannot really distinguish between the two terms, psychopath and sociopath. Back in the early 1800s, the doctors that were working with mental patients began to realize that some of their patients who appeared outwardly normal had what they termed a moral depravity or moral insanity . These patients seemed to have no sense of the rights of other people, or even of ethics in general. The term psychopath was initially applied to these individuals around the beginning of the twentieth century. In the 1930s, the term switched to sociopath to focus more heavily on the detrimental effect that these people can have on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A suitable branding strategy is necessary, wholesale and suggested retail price for coffee pods, choose which flavors to offer, and decide whether Kraft should use traditional distribution channels or direct to store (DSD). My initial reaction was of fear. These are artworks that should not be simply seen in front of a computer screen. The thickness of the paint and the careful attention to details; these are things that are missed if not seen in person. Upon walking into the small room the first painting that draws the attention of visitors is this painting. Not only is this a grotesque piece in an otherwise frightening room, Saturn also looks like he s rather enjoying this action, and his intense glare from his bulging eyes gives the impression as if you (the viewer) are the next target. The goal for this essay is to show Goya s way of depicting events that have affected not only society but him personally. It is a mythological subject that literally shows Saturn devouring his son. Light is very important as it focuses directly on the face of Saturn and the body of his son. It is a blinding light that leaves the dark background with a feeling of gloominess. The composition revolves around a single plane in which Saturn is placed devouring his victim. The dark background marks the sense of depth. Violent motion appreciates both his posture, and his mouth. His face reflects an expression of drama and tenebrism. The predominant color on the drawing emphasizes the dark tones that contrast with the clarity of the body of the victim. His deformity produces more drama in the scene. ... The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft and 20 were executed. Eventually, the colony admitted the trials were a mistake and compensated the families of those convicted. This is similar to today in that today, people are being accused of things they haven t done just because they look a certain way or are similar to the people who actually did something bad. Being falsely accused of something can send people into hysterics and send them into a downward spiral. While both Atwood and Miller both seek to reveal the injustices incurred by the victims of the Salem witch trials, Miller focuses on the effects of hysteria and religious zealotry on society, while Atwood aims to commemorate the excruciating experience of a single victim. In Half hanged Mary, the use of first person allows the reader to read the thoughts of the person speaking or thinking and allows the connection between reader and character to grow. Livy, in a quote debating the legal status of children between patricians and plebeians, stated Of course, the children follow the father. In Roman society, fathers were considered the most powerful. Romans believed in a theoretical concept of a father s absolute control, but in reality, all family had power and fathers could be challenged. Traditionally, fathers could discipline their children harshly, but by the late Roman Republic, society discouraged extreme measures. In legend Titus Manlius beheaded his son for leaving his military post against orders. Livy condemned it since such violent punishments were rarely utilized with other options available. Fathers could kill their children in theory, but this was not typical or even desirable to society, despite traditional support. Cato the Elder claimed striking a wife or child was sacrilegious, so violent punishments were disagreeable to many Romans. When a man called Cicero effeminate, he quipped that his son, known for prostitution, needed to be spoken to that way by the father instead. In order to exist as a liquid, the pressure required to make this phase change must be at minimum 5.11 atm. Once the solid carbon dioxide melts, the triple point is achieved through the energy that was absorbed. This point demonstrates that the three phases are now in equilibrium with one another. In addition to an increase in pressure, we learned that an increase in temperature also took place. The starting temperature of the solid carbon dioxide was 78 degrees Celsius but after reacting with the room temperature water to reach the triple point, it increased to 56.6 degrees Celsius. When comparing our data with other groups, we found that they also noted the same changes in pressure and temperature when they performed the experiment. This proved that our evidence and data was correct and the experiment was a success. Ultimately this lab was significant because we learned that temperature and pressure were the forces that contributed to the existence of carbon dioxide in a solid, liquid, and gas ...
