Fantastic Workshop at Homunculus Theatre Group Essay
After opening ten years ago Homunculus Theatre Group has been focused in providing
workshops and shows for todays youth. Assisi Catholic College s drama class got to experience
their Commedia dell Arte workshop they also performed spirit of the mask , which was a
modernized version of the classic Commedia Theater.
During the performance Clint Bolster and Ben Cornfoot showed us many different examples and
elements of the Commedia characters, which both engaged and entertained the audience. All of
which was enhanced with elements from the physical theater genre. This was shown during the
scene when there were two Capitano characters, because Capitano is someone who always boasts
about his greatness but in reality a giant coward. Enhanced ... Show more content on

The way that they transitioned to different characters looked completely natural, every time they
would put on a new mask and costume they were becoming that character which really set the
mood, a prime example of this was when the doctor (Dottore) who is a smart yet confused old man
noticed that the students in the other room was looking at him, and in turn he began to talk to them
and describing how they appear to be in a fishbowl.
Even though Commedia dell Arte is a rather old style of theatre Clint and Ben were able to
modernise it by adding multiple elements which can be considered normal within teenage life.
Things like using words like lol , yolo and talking about general things like Justin Bieber and Miley
Cyrus. Which made the performance relatable for the audience which inturn was hilarious.
Like with all dramatic performances most pf the time there is a backdrop of some sort. What
Ben and Clint used was a basic yet classic backdrop that featured portraits of the two masters.
Which gave the set a classy feel to it. In comparison the props that was used was also of the basic
functionality which in this style of theatre worked quite well due to the other elements being so
refined a key example of this was when they used a basic wig for the lovers scene, even though the
wig fell off a couple of times Ben and Clint continued to make the scene believable through voice
and movement.

Important Place In My Life
One of the most important places in my life is a quiet place in Cook County, Illinois.
That place would be a cemetery called St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. To many, this may be a
weird place to choose, but to me it is a safe place to vent and think. You see, St. Mary is the
resting place of my mother, Kimberly Bitsie. Those reasons, are why it is the most important place
in my world.
Cook County is not a place I have ever lived, but my family and I try to visit as often as we can.
My Dad, little brother and I usually try visit once every two to three years, because we visit our
grandparents while in Illinois. When we visit though, we always try to make time to visit the
cemetery because we don t know the next we will be able to see her. It s about a thirty five
minute drive from my grandparent s house, but it s worth the drive. We spend on average thirty
to forty minutes at the cemetery. Before we go into the cemetery, we always stop by this one
store near the cemetery, that sells flower and decorations, to buy a spinner to put on mom s
grave. I was only four when my mom died of cancer, and I only have a few memories of her. So,
being able to visit and try to connect is what makes it special to me. When we go to visit the
cemetery, it is usually around midday. Unlike other cemeteries I have seen or visited, this cemetery
I would put on the better side of the list, with upkeep and location. When you first drive into the
cemetery, you see a big gate and a beautiful stone white

Holden Caulfield Symbolism
In The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger, Salinger places a significant amount of importance on
the title. The tile itself The Catcher in the Rye is a symbol of Holden Caulfield s love of
innocence and children, and his willingness to protect them from becoming the monster that
Holden Caulfield has become. This is evident in Holden s admiration for children, the symbolic
meaning behind Holden s definition of a Catcher in the Rye , and Holden s hatred of adult s
unawareness of protecting the innocence of the youth. Holden Caulfieldthroughout the Catcher in
the Rye has this admiration toward children, which is a direct contrast to his view of everyone
being a phony. This is evident in Holden s double standard that he has toward his... Show more

However, something that particularly bothered him was the treatment of children by adults. This
is evident in Chapter 16 were he states The cars zoomed by, brakes screeched all over the place,
his parents paid no attention to him, and he kept walking next to the curb and singing. This abusive
behavior of adults on children is what ruins the innocence of children, and is what strips them from
their innocence. This in turn ultimately leads to a disastrous transition to adulthood, one that
Holden Caulfield is currently facing. Catcher in the Rye , is a symbol of preserving the innocence
of the youth and stopping the abusive and phony , behavior of adults and ultimately living in

Logarithms During The Scientific Revolution Of The 17th...
Though the Scientific Revolution of the 17th century produced many inspiring inventions and
discoveries, one of the greatest contributions of the period, at least in the field of mathematics, was
the introduction of logarithms. Mathematically, a logarithm is denoted as follows logb(x)=y,
where y is the power to which b must be raised in order to produce the answer x. However, simply
explained, a logarithmis a quantity representing the power to which a fixed number, the base, must
be raised to produce a specific number. Therefore, to give just one computational example,
log2(32) = 5 because 25 =32.
The term logarithm was derived from the Greek words for ratio and number. Conceptually speaking,
logarithms are the inverse operation of exponents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The combined efforts of Napier, Burgi, and Briggs contributed to the invention of a mathematical
calculation that is used daily in our modern life. By referring back to the logarithm tables, large
and tedious calculations can be avoided and simplified by simply performing two steps by using
the logarithm laws. This discovery arose in the time period when there were several mathematical
and scientific discoveries being made, and resulted in a highly convenient and faster method for
completing complex

Objectives Of Inventory Management And Management
Objectives of Inventory Management including warehouse management
Inventory management is part of the warehouse management and both of them are part of a bigger
entity which is the supply chain. The objective of supply chain is to minimize annual system wide
costs and maximizing the service level. To reach the goal or objective of supply chain, Inventory
and warehouse management have the following objectives that will help increase return on
inventory (ROI) and return on assets (ROA):
1.Maximizing customer service: Customer service refers to the firm s ability to satisfy the needs of
its customers. In Inventory and warehouse management, inaccurate customer demand forecasts,
changes in the original orders of customers, and the lack of management leads to poor customer
service level in terms of long delivery times, delivering the wrong product to customers ... Show

Inventory management: Inventory management is the total control of the inventory and lacking
this fundamental understanding can lead to big overstock, or backorders. Inventory management
includes: I.inventory accuracy: Without an automated warehouse management system, it is hard
to for a firm to be fully aware or accurate of the inventory it has on hand. Poor stock visibility can
cause excess or obsolete inventory which causes a problem if there is a demand and product
shortage which leads to unfulfilling or delaying the order of the customer. Also, excess inventory
leads to the lack of cash flow, wasting warehouse space, higher storage cost and poor customer
service.
II.inventory location: If the people working in the warehouse do not know where inventory is
located, they put the company at risk. Failing to know where the inventory is, can results in
delaying shipments because it will take the workers time to find the items which results in slowing
operations and increasing

Why Cats Lose Their Antlers
One day a little kid asked me why do bucks lose their antlers? So I decided to tell him a story. On
a cold day during February, Artemis was out in the woods walking with the deer. She was the
goddess of animals, and she would help them out night and day. Every hunting season she would
hide them until it was safe to go out, and she helped the deermore because they were a sacred
animal to her.
But one day every year everyone in the village nearby would go out and hunt the bucks because
they had more meat on them. They did this because they needed a lot of food for the festival for
when they made their town. Every year Artemis did her best to hid the deer but the hunters always
find the majority of them, and there are Consequences that come

Keys to Win the Cola War with Innovative Marketing Strategies
Product Mix: Key to Winning the Cola War Pepsi and Coca Cola have stood the test of time

one of these beverage giants makes an innovative move to conquer a new or existing beverage

each of these companies have heralded fabulous discoveries and absolute flops as they continued

Pepsi and Coke have also been targeting this growing consumer market in their soda lines with
new innovations of low or no carb drinks such as Pepsi Edge3 and Coke s C24, as well as
reinvigorations of their already no carb diet drinks. So where do the sports drinks fit into this
low carb craze? The answer is they don t. Each of these sports drinks is packed with enough
carbohydrates to equal a liquid potato, making them nothing but a memory for people whose
daily carb intake is down to 20 60 grams.5 Thus, we have a void in the beverage market that is
not being filled. Further deepening this void is the fact that people losing weight tend to be
more active, craving something besides water or diet soda after their workouts. This is a perfect
example of how a shift in product mix for either company could give them distinct competitive
advantage. By simply creating a no carb line of Gatorade or PowerAde sports drinks, the
company will have altered its product mix and filled the market void with brand loyal users,
adding to the overall market resiliency and strength of the parent company.6 Further analysis of
this product line could also reveal strong needs for having different strengths of sports drinks for
different levels of activity (i.e. zero carbs for slightly active, 15 grams of carbs for moderately
active, and up to 120 grams for marathon runners) enabling a kind of mass customization to ensure
that the product line can suit any and all

Dillon V. Jogbra
Employers that do not follow their disciplinary policies, and related procedures, may get sued for
breach of contract or wrongful discharge. Courts have ruled that disciplinary policies can be
contracts, even when employers include at will statements in them, if the policies contain
provisions promising that the employer will follow specific disciplinary procedures. So, in Dillon
v. Champion Jogbra, Inc., the Vermont Supreme Court found the disclaimer printed in an employee
manual was in conflict with the employer s elaborate discipline and discharge system, which the
employer said would be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. The Court ruled that the

handbook were conflicting with the at will employment relationship and the disclaimer language.
Second, the conduct and oral statements from the employer were given that gave the employee
reason to believe that her job was safe. The oral statement made by the employer was it will take
you four to six months to feel comfortable with [the] position which gave the impression that she
would have that time to settle in with the new job. 3. Explain how the employer breached the
implied contract. The employer breached the implied oral contract because in less than two months
Dillon was called into her supervisor s office and was terminated from that position in which the
employer stated that it was not working out. The written contact, according to the Champion Jogbra
s policy, was that actions will be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. Concerning the
disclaimer at the start of the manual, it was inconsistent with the terms of the Corrective Action
policy. The Champion s employees, including Dillon, could interpret an implied contract because of
mixed messages they received from the written manual, the disciplinary action policy, the at will
relationship explained, and the oral statements given. 4.

Effect Of Divorce On Children
Over the last couple of decades the rate of marriages that end in divorce has been steadily
increasing. When a marriage ends children are impacted and it s not only emotional and
devastating the couples but this also has a huge effect on the children of all ages involved. Many
parents go through a divorcedisaster with little knowledge of the effects that the children may go
through. Some of the most common impacts that divorce has on children include the fact that
children tend to start to blame themselves for the divorce, adjusting in areas of social relationships,
there are behavioral issues that arise, and there often becomes a challenge to balance the feelingof
stability between the separate parents. These are just a few of the most common challenges that
children face when presented with the reality of divorce in the family. When we understand the
negative effects in which children are impacted by divorce, the hope is that couples will devote
time and energy toward any opportunities to savage the marriage.
Caught in the Middle 3
While there are many people who go through divorce these days, there are also many children
who suffer from the impacts of divorce on their mind and emotions. (McConville, D. 2013 p 4)
One of the most common impacts of divorce on children is the element of the child feeling like it
is his or her fault. In the initial stages of divorce it can be very important to prevent resentment
toward the other parent. Parents should know about the

The Question Of Being Is The Darkest Of All Philosophy
The question of being is the darkest in all philosophy. So concluded William James in thinking
about that most basic of riddles: how did something come from nothing? The question infuriates,
James realized, because it demands an explanation while denying the very possibility of
explanation. From nothing to being there is no logical bridge, he wrote. In science, explanations are
built of cause and effect. But if nothing is truly nothing, it lacks the power to cause. It s not simply
that we can t find the right explanation it s that explanation itselffails in the face of nothing. This
failure hits us where it hurts. We are a narrative species. Our most basic understanding comes
through stories, and how something came from nothing is the... Show more content on

The ancient Greeks suggested that empty space is filled with substance a plenum, an ether.
Aristotle conceived of the ether as an unchanging fifth element, more perfect and heavenly in its
invariance than earth, air, fire, or water. True nothingness was at odds with Aristotle s physics,
which said that bodies rise up or fall down as dictated by their rightful place in the natural order
of things. Nothingness, however, would be perfectly symmetric it would look the same from
every angle rendering absolute spatial directions like up and down utterly meaningless. An ether,
Aristotle figured, could serve as a kind of cosmic compass, an ultimate reference frame against
which all motion could be measured. For those who abhorred a vacuum, the ether banished every
last trace of it. The ancient ether stuck around for millennia until it was re imagined in the late
19th century by physicists like James Clerk Maxwell, who discovered that light behaves as a
wave that always travels at a particular speed. What was waving, and speed relative to what? The
ether was a handy answer, providing both a medium for light waves to travel through, and, as
Aristotle originally imagined, a reference frame against which all

There are five lobes in the lung, three on the right and two on the left. Each lobe is divided by five

Essay On Raiders Night
Long nights playing football
The book, Raiders Night by Robert Lipsyte was a very different book compared to other 9th

At the same time it was a great book, I loved the intensity on how Matt has everything he needs

nothing else. I liked the book a lot because of its intensity, its interesting organization of the book,

Rhetorical Analysis Of `` The Necessary Art Of Persuasion ``
Today s business environment is fundamentally the same as it s always been. An individual gets
into business to provide goods and/or services in exchange for a premium. That could be many
things ranging from other goods, services, money, or an agenda. In the article, The Necessary Art of
Persuasion, the author, Jay A. Conger, attempts to illustrate to the readers that one must learn and
become fluid in the art of persuasionin the business environment. I believe this argument in favor of
persuasion is relative now more then ever.
In the past persuasion has had a place in sales and marketing. Attempting to use persuasive
techniques in other areas of business could have been deemed as devious or manipulative.
However, certain aspects of how we do business and conduct ourselves has changed over the years.
Although the fundamental purpose as to why we do business is still the same how we get to the
end goal is not.
Persuasion definitely has its place in the business world. A great use for persuasive techniques is
communicating internally within ones organization. Conger describes in his article that in order
for one to be successful with the use of persuasion one must first redefine what they consider
persuasion to be. This article also dives into why persuasion is good to motivate ones subordinates
and get them to become more effective and efficient at what there function is. The old way to
manage individuals is similar to how military organizations do. These types of

Normality And Pathology Of A Christian Therapist
Normality and Pathology The first factor that a Christian therapist needs to consider is the
demarcation between what is considered a sinful action and psychopathology, or normal and
abnormal behavior. However, some authors believe abnormal behavior cannot be so concisely
defined (Bennett, 2011), because assessment of abnormal behavior is affected by numerous
factors, including social and cultural norms and biases. All cultures have their own formal and
informal rules for behavior. These rules delineate the laws governing socially acceptable behavior
and moral standards, usually within clear boundaries. When a particular social or moral behavior
exceeds the norms of a specific culture, that behavior is viewed as abnormal (Butcher, 2007)....

The third factor in defining normal and abnormal behavior is the ambiguity of the breakpoint. There
is no clear center point for the division between normal and abnormal. Butcher (2009) argued that
there is no universal agreement with regard to when a behavior crosses a line from normal to
abnormal, and irrespective of any definition there is always some kind of flaw present. He
continued that the more a person demonstrates difficulties in particular areas of his/her life, the
greater the likelihood of abnormality. Nevertheless, the term mental disorder is applied to a set of
categories and classifications of abnormal human functioning. Millon (1969) grouped perspectives
on mental disorders into four different categories. First, there are biophysical theories, which
assume that physiological processes are the primary determining factors of psychopathology.
Second, there are intrapsychic theories which assume that psychological factors determine
abnormal psychological behavior. Third, there is phenomenological theory which talks about the
unique experience and perception of each individual, and how that perception is lived out. Lastly,
behavioral theories assume that the process of learning through reinforcement shapes pathology in
the individual. In the end, the categorization of mental disorder is inadequate because it does not do
justice to the complexity of cognitive, emotional, spiritual, behavioral and relational factors that are
at work in the development

The German Workers Party was formed on the 5th January 1919. It was set up by Anton Drexler,
Karl Harrer, Dietrich Eckart and Gottfried Feder. It later became the National Socialist German
Workers Party in 1920 and was called the Nazi Partyas a nickname. Drexler was the Chairman of
the Party from 1920 1921 and was succeed by Adolf Hitlerfrom 1921 1945. Within the Party there
were other organisations: the Sturmabteilung(SA) and the Schutzstaffel (SS). The SA were also
known as Stormtroopers and they were the military for the party. The SS started out as private
bodyguards for Hitler but then became the parties military force. Hitler became Chancellor,
appointed by President Paul von Hindenburg, in 1933. In the 1933 General Election, the
Communist Party were banned and the Nazi Party got a majority so had power (1). Hindenburg
died in 1934. After this Hitler then made a combined role of Chancellor and President which was
called Fuhrer (2). On the 1st September 1939, the Nazi s invaded Poland and two days later France
and Britain declared war on Germany. This was the beginning of World War Two (1). Heinrich
Himmler was the Nazi Propaganda Leader from 1926 1930. He became the head of the SS in 1929
and in 1936 he was the head of the new national police (3).

Willy Loman As A Tragic Hero
In the play The Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman is a very troubled and
distraught character. He is an ordinary man with nothing to show for himself. This leads him to a
constant internal battle. A tragedy, being defined as, a play dealing with tragic events and having
an unhappy ending concerning the downfall of the main character. The Death of A Salesman can be
thought of as a tragic play because the main character sets out to achieve something that will
inevitably lead to his downfall. While trying to live out a perfect version of the American dream
but falling very short. Often, Willy Loman is debated as a tragic hero, a character who makes a
judgment error that inevitably leads to their own destruction. When people think of a hero, they
automatically turn to kings or people of high nobility. The author, Arthur Miller, believed that the
common man makes the best tragic hero. In his essay, Tragedyand The Common Man , Miller
argues for Willy Loman by stating, a tragic hero does not need to be of high nobility, it can be in
an average person who possesses a tragic flaw . Arthur believed that there were many heroes in
the world, and tragedy can affect even the lowest of the classes. A tragic hero often makes the
decision to end his life due to his tragic flaw. Willy Loman can be defined as a tragic hero
because he exhibits excessive pride, is noble in nature, but imperfect so that the audience can
relate to him, and is faced with a very big decision that he has to make. The first characteristic
provided by Aristotle is that the hero must exhibit excessive pride. Willy shows this by repeatedly
rejecting jobs that are being offered to him and stating that he already is employed. CHARLEY:
You want a job?
WILLY: I got a job, I told you that. [After a slight pause] What the hell are you offering me a job
for?
CHARLEY: Don t get insulted.
WILLY: Don t insult me. (Act 1). He feels as though the people offering him the job are inferior
to him. Nevertheless being laid off several times, he continues to turn down offers. In his mind, he
will eventually make a sale and does not need charity. Not being employed proves fatal to his life,
because Willy should be the one

Examples Of Hypocritical Flaws In The Great Gatsby
Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone... just remember that all the people in this world haven
t had the advantages that you ve had (Fitzgerald 1). In Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, the
portrayal of the characters in the novel show them as hypocritical. This claim that can be shown
through examination of three of the main characters and their actions: Nick s honesty and
judgement, Tom s affair, and Gatsby s nobility. Each of these character s hypocritical flaws can be
reflected by someone in Fitzgerald s life, whether it be him or just someone participating in it. To
begin with, Nick hypocritical in the fact that he is a judgemental person and refuses to acknowledge
that like any average human, he is capable of judgement, yet continues... Show more content on

When being introduced to Gatsby at one of Gatsby s parties, Gatsby tells Tom that he already
knows Daisy to which Tom replies, I wonder where the devil [Gatsby] met Daisy... women run
around too much these days to suit me. They meet all kinds of crazy fish (Fitzgerald 103).
Herein lies his hypocrisy hypocrisy because while he judges Daisy for running around too much
, he himself, is running around with Myrtle, unbeknownst to Daisy. Later, while all riding into
the city together, Tom confronts Gatsby about Daisy in front of everyone saying, I suppose the
latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from Nowhere make love to your wife (Fitzgerald
130). Once again, this is hypocritical because he is so angry about Daisy having an affair with
Gatsby, however at this point he, once again, having an affair with Myrtle so there really is no
room for his complaints. Lastly, while fighting over Daisy s love against Gatsby, Tom says to
him, [what s] more, I love Daisy too... in my heart I love her all the time. (Fitzgerald 131).
Perhaps, if he really loved Daisy, he wouldn t have to go behind her back to secretly cheat on her.
Outside of the book, Tom represents Fitzgerald s stereotype of all the men who take the trophy
wives . They take their trophy wives for exactly the reason that they are trophy wives , prizes he
didn t believe debutante marrying fraternity boys could ever properly love a woman. The
unfortunate truth is, many people end up just as Tom did; Fitzgerald wrote Tom as an arrogant,
angry, burnt out football player who peaked in high school and is only rich through inheritance,
and sadly, Toms are not an uncommon sight, even in modern days. Tom is cheating and abusive
and only married his wife so he would show her off and is hypocritical with the anger he lets out on

The Infamous Patchwork Mouse Case
The universal principle that underlines all work conducted in the field of science is that the
knowledge yielded from scientific discovery can never be considered to be indisputable truth as it
is derived solely from the human perspective of the world and, to the greater extent, the tangible
universe. As a result, theories brought forward that are considered to be factual one day can be
justly discarded the next if enough evidence is produced to form a realised contradiction. It is due
to this, therefore, that scienceholds great authority over how society is able to perceive its
surroundings and consequently, how it allows human society to progress.
Science is far from perfect . As it is conducted by human beings, it is only natural that mistakes
and inconsistencies are likely to occur. However, there is a distinct line between work that is
genuine and that of work that has been purposely falsified to produce a desired result. This is
known as pseudoscience (or scientific misconduct) and is largely responsible for the wealth of
controversy that has been brought upon science.
In particular, this report will focus on a widely criticized and notorious case of scientific fraud,
consisting of how it was perpetrated, what events transpired because of it, the motives of the
accused, how the case is likely to bring harm to science and what measures can be employed to
rectify any possible instances of future misconduct.

Essay on Abstinence is Not Always the Answer
Teenage pregnancy is a new form of epidemic that is sweeping across the nation worldwide. No one
can actually point fingers on who is to blame or why this situation has increased in numbers over
the past years. As years progress and society changes, people have been adjusting to the fact that
teenagers are getting pregnant, and that there is nothing we can do to change it. Although many
think that teenagers make mistakes and that pregnancyis an automatic consequence, there is a way
to prevent this outcome from happening. By introducing different kinds of sex educationprograms at
an earlier age, the teenage pregnancy rate will decrease. Even though we cannot eliminate the

Therefore, sex education should be taught to students at the age of ten or in the fifth grade. Within
the sex education curriculum, fifth graders should begin the journey by learning about their bodies
and how it works. Since most kids in this age group start going through puberty, they should know
why these changes are occurring. As they move onto middle school, their sex education courses
should focus on the abstinent method. The reason is because most parents fear that if their child is
exposed to a comprehensive method too early they will engage in that sort of activity. In the
seventh grade, a more comprehensive method will be administered, rather than teaching solely
about abstinence. According to Eli Coleman, director of the program in human sexuality at the
University of Minnesota Medical School, comprehensive sexuality education approaches are
effective in delaying the onset of sexual activity and have the advantage of increasing the likelihood
of individuals acting responsibly by protecting themselves and their partners by using condoms and
other forms of contraceptives to prevent sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies

Capssaicin Research Paper
Capsaicin is a chemical that is found in chili peppers which causes the heat when you eat spicy
foods. In order to detect the capsaicin that is found in the foods that you eat, your body has
receptors on sensory neurons. The receptors are known as capsaicin receptors and found in the
dendrites of the sensory neurons better known as nociceptors. (Caterina) When your body receives
that feeling of pain or heat, it is due to capsaicinreceptor recognizing capsaicin, but also the ability
of the capsaicin receptor to act as an ion channel, which is found in a category known as the
transient receptor potential channels. (Fox) Capsaicin will stimulate and excite the capsaicin
receptor. When the receptor is excited it allows the entrance of Calcium (Ca+2) and Sodium
(Na+). (Fox) When the calcium and sodium rush into the cell it will cause the cell to depolarize.

Challenges Facing the Youth in Today s Society
Most of the problems facing today s youth are not restricted to any one ethnic or religious group,

As such the family and religion now have a minimal impact on the average youngster. The values
emphasized today include individualism, Godlessness, materialism, secularism and rationalism. It
is the youth who are encountering the most serious challenge to his/her faith under the impact of
godless culture of modernity.
Best minds in our society are not socialized by religious institutions. The emphasis is on
competitiveness, academic success, career goals, income and social mobility Little or no attention

We are preparing followers, imitators conformists, and not leaders, innovators or problem solvers.
The youth is being asked to give up certain family and social values that were an integral part of
their identity, and adopt in its place a sense of self alienation, and become a self estranged imitator

We need to pay close attention to the effects of secularism: confining the role of religion to the
private domain of the individual and creating a dichotomy between religious and worldly, between
private and public. It denies religion and its mediating institutions any public function and influence

Analysis Of The Grumbling Hive, By Bernard Mandeville
The renowned economist Milton Friedman once said, Innovation comes from self interest, not
government agencies. This idea, seen as controversial and offensive to many, is at the core of
Bernard Mandeville s argument in his poem, The Grumbling Hive: or, Knaves turn d Honest. The
poem compares the working of society to a busy hive. The hive is flourishing until suddenly the
bees become honest and righteous leading them to live simple lives without a thrive community.
Through this analogy, Mandeville argues that pursuit of private vices generates public
improvements and economic prosperity, meaning, individuals tendencies to pursue their own vices,
such as lust and greed to innovationfor society as a whole. This is demonstrated through the benefits
of marijuana legalization.
Mandeville addresses many aspects of degeneracy and selfishness within private life, highlighting
vice as an intrinsic and unavoidable part of . Vice, by Mandeville s standards, is an action that
fulfills the individual in some respect but is immoral, selfish, and unfair. The seven deadly sins
provide a framework for behavior that would be considered detrimental and self regarding.
Mandeville, in the poem, provides examples of such actions within all echelons of society.
Mandeville writes, Physicians valu d Fame and Wealth/ Above the dropping Patient s Health (71
72). As example of greed, medical professionals pursuit of capital gain and social stature are the
driving factor in treating patients rather than an altruistic desire to aid humanity. Again,
Mandeville displays occurrences of vice within society by demonstrating instances of individual s
pursuit of wealth at the expense of others, Their Kings were serv d, but Knavishly,/ Cheated by
their own Ministry;/ ...Robbing the very Crown they saved (113 117). The King s own advisors
and officials steal from him, greedily pursuing their own self interests over that of the Kingdom.
Mandaville is a realist in the sense that he acknowledges humanities inherent drive to serve oneself
before others and engage in immoral and corrupt behavior. He addresses greed and dishonesty in
private life without hesitation or resentment. It is this self pursuit that Mandeville argues actually

Analysis Of The Air Commerce Act Of 1926 (ACA)
From the first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, safety was one of the primary concerns of the
public. Within 11 years, aircraft as a form passenger travel was expanding rapidly. As a result,
the skies quickly became crowded and accidents were occurring both in the air and on the
ground. Fearing that air transit would not reach its full economic potential, the Air Commerce
Act of 1926 (ACA) was enacted (Dilger, 2003). The ACA established uniform safety rules for
carriers, required pilot licensing, and standardized routes. As a result, deaths from aircraft
accidents reduced from one in every 1.4 million miles flown in 1927 to every 13 million miles
(Dilger, 2003). The ACA paved the way for the Federal Aviation Administration

names and boundaries. Some of the names used are the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the
Six Kingdom period. The former refers to the fact that this period saw China broken into a clear
north and south division while the latter refers to the fact that this time period saw Six Dynasties

eastern Jin lasted longer in the south but China was no longer unified. This Northern and Southern

northern and southern dynasties for the larger time period as I feel it would be improper for us to
use the term Six Kingdom Period to refer to the north which ultimately reunified China. The

In August of 2015, quickly approaching the September 30th renewal of the Federal Aviation
Administration s policies, many regional airlines questioned the amount of time required for
commercial pilots to have under their training belt. As of 2013, it is an FAA standard that pilots
training for their commercial license must accumulate 1,500 hours before they are considered to
have completed the program. While 1,500 hours of flying time, especially for pilots of a
commercial airplane, does not seem like much, the minimum amount of hours that they had to
accumulate before the rule change was just a mere 250 hours of fly time. With an increase of
1,250 hours, many of the executives from these regional airlines are upset because of one effect...

In some cases, an airline has even had to remove themselves from an airport due to the
unpopularity or the inability to fund said airline flying out of that airport. While losing routes,
and therefore revenue, is a big deal to most of these major airlines, the pilots of these airlines
seem to have a different take on the problem. They believe it is the salary they get from the
airline themselves that deters pilot from flying commercial planes. Pilots pay $150,000 to
$200,000 to obtain their commercial license, while some airlines are only offering $21,000 or less
as a starting salary. All in all, potential candidates for a commercial pilot s license are having a hard
time believing that their significant training expenses will be rewarded in the long run.
Whatever the case may be to the shortage of pilots, there is one group fighting against any
amendment or new legislation that would require, or encourage, pilots getting 1,500 hours before
piloting a commercial plane for an airline. These are the families of the 50 people that died in a
2009 Colgan Airlines crash that happened in Buffalo, New York. In this case, the pilots were flying
through a snowstorm, and on an improper response to a turboprop maneuver, the plane stalled and
crashed, consequently. While the pilots lack of training was documented as the ultimate cause to
this crash, the pilots of this flight had 3,379 and 2,244 hours of flying.
So that begs the question,

The Rise and Fall of Ford Motor Company Essay
The rise of multinational companies and increased global diversification by even small companies
has resulted in people of diverse backgrounds and cultures working together in the same office or
for the same organization. Conflict in such situations is predictable, but understanding the diversity
issues can help companies implement programs designed to keep conflict at a minimum and to take
full advantage of the many benefits which such diversity brings to an organization. Key to
understanding how diversity is managed in multinational organizations is understanding the
concept of corporate culture (which defines organizations), diversity programs and their use to
minimize conflict among employees, and the unique problems that employees... Show more content

Knowledge And Shared Knowledge
Knowledge is defined to be facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education.
There are two categories that fall under knowledge; personal knowledge and shared knowledge.
Shared knowledge refers to what we know because. It can also be defined as communicated and
constructed knowledge; within culture, social norms, and semiotics. Personal knowledge refers to
I know because. An expanded definition of personal knowledge refers to personal experiences,
values, and perceptions. Shared knowledge changes and evolves over time because of methods
that are continuously shared. It is assembled by a group of people. Personal knowledge, on the
other hand, depends crucially on the experiences of a particular individual. It is gained... Show more

He was an Italian physicist, astronomer, mathematician, philosopher, and engineer who played a
large role in the scientific revolution (1564 1642). Galileo was often faced with controversial
arguments about his findings. Based on the shared knowledge of the Catholic Church, it tried to
compress the personal knowledge of Galileo. This is where the idea of personal and shared
knowledge shaping each other comes into perspective, as Galileo was continuously faced with the
knowledge of the Church. Continuously his personal knowledge was rejected, because shared
knowledge had such an influence among the people. His hypothesis frightened both the Protestant
leaders and Catholic Church because it went against their teachings and authority. If people
believed that the church could be wrong about this, they would question the church teachings as
well. The Church warned Galileo of his theories, however silently he continued to research. The
Church s greatest fear was that Galileo s personal knowledge would ultimately change the shared
knowledge of the Church. In 1632, he published a book which presented both of the ideas of
Copernicus and Ptolemy, and it was clear that Galileo supported the Copernican theory which stated
that the Earth moved around the Sun. Galileo was sentenced to court and found guilty. Under
torture, he admitted his findings were false. Only in 1992, the Catholic Church

Culture And Cultures In India
India is a country divided by its people, cultures and norms. Every state in the country hold its
own different values and beliefs. Being the 7th largest country in the world, it is home to over a
billion people. The country has said to have a total of 1652 languages spoken, where only 31 of
them are official. Let s not even get started on the number of casts and cultures that exist in the
country, because the state I m from, alone has over at least 10. Lack of respectfor each other, the
failure of the educationsystem, and lack of empathy are what s keeping Indiafractured. How can we
expect so many people, who speak different languages, believe in different gods, eat different
food, wear different clothes, and who believe in different rituals, to ever be united as one whole
nation? India not only has too much going for it, but people don t respect each others cultures.
People can be seen disrespecting other states and their beliefs all around the country. When I was
in India, I remember some of my uncles laughing about the way Maharashtrians talked, and how
their education system is ages behind ours. Not only are rituals performed differently in every
state, there is ignorance about how their way of doing something is the right way. People in
northern India drink massive amounts on weddings, and are known to be very loud. Where
people in the west don t appreciate drinking on weddings, whereas people in South India don t
dance at weddings because it s perceived as

October 21 the date that has hunted me for 9 years now. When I was 17 I went with my sister to
the woods outside of our home in Ypsilanti, MI I heard the stories of the old church in the 1700s
and how it was burnt down by demons or Lucifer himself I don t believe it because I m pretty
sure lucifer has more important things to do than burn down a church in Michigan. I went
through the cemetery because it is said the demons who burned the church down found home in
the dead bodies that are six feet under. I went with my 16 year old sister which was a mistake. I
started walking we heard noise in the trees, I just assumed it was a fox or raccoon or something, it

Title: Three Stages of Culture Shock
Specific Rhetorical Purpose: To inform my audience about the three stages of culture shock and
some tips of how to adjust and accept the different culture.
Thesis: A better understanding of what culture shock is can help people to get over culture shock
easily.
Introduction
Attention getter: In Bulgabia, nodding left and right means yes, nodding up and down means no;
In Sweden, people use folk and knife to eat their burgers; In Germany, people do not table talk.
These are some proprieties that I find interesting, since it is different than my common sense of
nodding, eating a burger, and talking while eating a meal, which give me a sort of Culture shock.
That is a common phenomenon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this stage, travelers are more interested with the new environment, the curiosity of a new
language or dialect, a new society, and a new kind of food. At this point, everything about this new
place seems awesome.
For example, when I first come to America, I find that American people are very nice, whenever I
need help they would try their best to help me. I lived with my host family, they would take me to
sports games, and explain the rules to me and help me have a better idea about what I was
watching. They would cook very nice food for me (a lot cheese, which I really like), and my host
family are very willing to help me develop my English. Not just my host family, people from my
high school, people from the gas station, they always have smile on their face. And tell me have a
nice one .
[Transition: Once you start get used to the new environment, things start getting frustrating.]
пЃ¬The Frustration Stage
That is the second stage of Culture Shock, The Frustration stage. For example, get used to a
different lifestyle can be a big challenge for travelers. Without knowing the do s and don ts of the
new place, travelers might accidentally make local resident upset and don t even know why. Also
as the time goes, the longer the visitor stay in the new environment they are more likely to get
homesick. [Transition: there are two stories I want to share with you all.]

the nature of mortality and of man s inherent ignorance of the inevitable. Berman s advice brings to
mind the questionвЋЇin the face of an intolerable existenceвЋЇshould one have the right to choose
the last day of their life? Should a person be subjected to the anxiety that accompanies a physician s
estimation that nothing can be done? To allow suffering with no choice of reliefвЋЇis this not

A prominent feminist, novelist and sociologist, Gilman, in her final year, 1935, chose death over
terminal cancer. Rather than suffering any longer, she made the decision to commit suicide, and
made her decision public. She began to receive letters from fans, family and friends. Regarding
these letters, in her article, The Dying of Charlotte Perkins Gilman , Denise D. Knight notes that,
Despite the fact that Gilman s death took place nearly sixty five years ago, long before society
became receptive to such issues as assisted suicide and dying with dignity, not a single
correspondent attempted to dissuade her from carrying out her plans. On the contrary, the letters
demonstrate not only an unconditional support for Gilman s philosophical position but also an
extraordinary amount of compassion, respect, and acceptance during a time when it was widely
considered that suicide would virtually guarantee eternal damnation

What Is Davis Use Of Evidence In The Return Of Martin Guerre
During the 16th century peasants held agriculture, farming, and sex as important. Intercourse was
not viewed as pleasure but rather a way to create heirs to the family. Peasants married for money
not love. Throughout the book The Return of Martin Guerre, Natalie Zemon Davis uses sex and
sexual references were used to support the claim that Bertrande knew Arnaud was not her husband,
but with knowledge brought up in Robert Finlay s argument it becomes aware that Davis
argument contains assumption and lacks evidence which raises the debate of whether or not
Bertrande knew Arnaud was her husband. Bertrande and Martin s sexual relationship is one of
Davis main pieces of support to her claim that Bertrande knew that Arnaud was not her husband. It
was made clear that there were facial and body features that were not identical between Martin and
the fake Martin . There were no portraits to help recall what Martin looked like... Show more

Davis works around the problem of not having many primary sources by interpreting information
and making educated assumptions about how Bertrande and others were feeling at the time. Finlay
acknowledges Davis lack of evidence and sheds light on the idea that Davis knew something that
others did not know at the time, she has recognized a truth that apparently remained hidden from
both the villagers of Artigat and the judges of Toulouse. (Finlay 558). If what Davis thought
Bertrande was feeling at the time was accurate or important it would have been brought up in the
trial which was documented. Since it was not it is hard to interpret Davis information on her claim
as accurate. With this being known, it is aware that Bertrande did not know that Arnaud was not
Martin. Finlay is able to support this idea with basic knowledge on peasants, which makes his
argument

Assisi Catholic College s drama class got to experience their Commedia dell Arte workshop they also performed spirit of the mask , which was a modernized version of the classic Commedia Theater. During the performance Clint Bolster and Ben Cornfoot showed us many different examples and elements of the Commedia characters, which both engaged and entertained the audience. The way that they transitioned to different characters looked completely natural, every time they would put on a new mask and costume they were becoming that character which really set the mood, a prime example of this was when the doctor (Dottore) who is a smart yet confused old man noticed that the students in the other room was looking at him, and in turn he began to talk to them and describing how they appear to be in a fishbowl. Even though Commedia dell Arte is a rather old style of theatre Clint and Ben were able to modernise it by adding multiple elements which can be considered normal within teenage life. Things like using words like lol , yolo and talking about general things like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. Which made the performance relatable for the audience which inturn was hilarious. Like with all dramatic performances most pf the time there is a backdrop of some sort. What Ben and Clint used was a basic yet classic backdrop that featured portraits of the two masters. Which gave the set a classy feel to it. In comparison the props that was used was also of the basic functionality which in this style of theatre worked quite well due to the other elements being so refined a key example of this was when they used a basic wig for the lovers scene, even though the wig fell off a couple of times Ben and Clint continued to make the scene believable through voice and movement. • 4. Important Place In My Life One of the most important places in my life is a quiet place in Cook County, Illinois. That place would be a cemetery called St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. To many, this may be a weird place to choose, but to me it is a safe place to vent and think. You see, St. Mary is the resting place of my mother, Kimberly Bitsie. Those reasons, are why it is the most important place in my world. Cook County is not a place I have ever lived, but my family and I try to visit as often as we can. My Dad, little brother and I usually try visit once every two to three years, because we visit our grandparents while in Illinois. When we visit though, we always try to make time to visit the cemetery because we don t know the next we will be able to see her. It s about a thirty five minute drive from my grandparent s house, but it s worth the drive. We spend on average thirty to forty minutes at the cemetery. Before we go into the cemetery, we always stop by this one store near the cemetery, that sells flower and decorations, to buy a spinner to put on mom s grave. I was only four when my mom died of cancer, and I only have a few memories of her. So, being able to visit and try to connect is what makes it special to me. When we go to visit the cemetery, it is usually around midday. Unlike other cemeteries I have seen or visited, this cemetery I would put on the better side of the list, with upkeep and location. When you first drive into the cemetery, you see a big gate and a beautiful stone white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The tile itself The Catcher in the Rye is a symbol of Holden Caulfield s love of innocence and children, and his willingness to protect them from becoming the monster that Holden Caulfield has become. This is evident in Holden s admiration for children, the symbolic meaning behind Holden s definition of a Catcher in the Rye , and Holden s hatred of adult s unawareness of protecting the innocence of the youth. This abusive behavior of adults on children is what ruins the innocence of children, and is what strips them from their innocence. • 6. Logarithms During The Scientific Revolution Of The 17th... Though the Scientific Revolution of the 17th century produced many inspiring inventions and discoveries, one of the greatest contributions of the period, at least in the field of mathematics, was the introduction of logarithms. Mathematically, a logarithm is denoted as follows logb(x)=y, where y is the power to which b must be raised in order to produce the answer x. However, simply explained, a logarithmis a quantity representing the power to which a fixed number, the base, must be raised to produce a specific number. Objectives Of Inventory Management And Management Objectives of Inventory Management including warehouse management Inventory management is part of the warehouse management and both of them are part of a bigger entity which is the supply chain. The objective of supply chain is to minimize annual system wide costs and maximizing the service level. To reach the goal or objective of supply chain, Inventory and warehouse management have the following objectives that will help increase return on inventory (ROI) and return on assets (ROA): 1.Maximizing customer service: Customer service refers to the firm s ability to satisfy the needs of its customers. Poor stock visibility can cause excess or obsolete inventory which causes a problem if there is a demand and product shortage which leads to unfulfilling or delaying the order of the customer. Also, excess inventory leads to the lack of cash flow, wasting warehouse space, higher storage cost and poor customer service. II.inventory location: If the people working in the warehouse do not know where inventory is located, they put the company at risk. Keys to Win the Cola War with Innovative Marketing Strategies Product Mix: Key to Winning the Cola War Pepsi and Coca Cola have stood the test of time through one of the strongest competition rivalries ever seen in the business world. Each time that one of these beverage giants makes an innovative move to conquer a new or existing beverage market, the other is quick to respond with even better innovations or products. Through the years, each of these companies have heralded fabulous discoveries and absolute flops as they continued their endless search for the right mix of products that might someday give them the largest market share in an ever growing and ever needed market. Pepsi and Coke have also been targeting this growing consumer market in their soda lines with new innovations of low or no carb drinks such as Pepsi Edge3 and Coke s C24, as well as reinvigorations of their already no carb diet drinks. So where do the sports drinks fit into this low carb craze? The answer is they don t. Each of these sports drinks is packed with enough carbohydrates to equal a liquid potato, making them nothing but a memory for people whose daily carb intake is down to 20 60 grams.5 Thus, we have a void in the beverage market that is not being filled. Further deepening this void is the fact that people losing weight tend to be more active, craving something besides water or diet soda after their workouts. This is a perfect example of how a shift in product mix for either company could give them distinct competitive advantage. By simply creating a no carb line of Gatorade or PowerAde sports drinks, the company will have altered its product mix and filled the market void with brand loyal users, adding to the overall market resiliency and strength of the parent company.6 Further analysis of this product line could also reveal strong needs for having different strengths of sports drinks for different levels of activity (i.e. zero carbs for slightly active, 15 grams of carbs for moderately active, and up to 120 grams for marathon runners) enabling a kind of mass customization to ensure that the product line can suit any and all ... Courts have ruled that disciplinary policies can be contracts, even when employers include at will statements in them, if the policies contain provisions promising that the employer will follow specific disciplinary procedures. So, in Dillon v. Champion Jogbra, Inc., the Vermont Supreme Court found the disclaimer printed in an employee manual was in conflict with the employer s elaborate discipline and discharge system, which the employer said would be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. The oral statement made by the employer was it will take you four to six months to feel comfortable with [the] position which gave the impression that she would have that time to settle in with the new job. 3. Explain how the employer breached the implied contract. The employer breached the implied oral contract because in less than two months Dillon was called into her supervisor s office and was terminated from that position in which the employer stated that it was not working out. The written contact, according to the Champion Jogbra s policy, was that actions will be carried out in a fair and consistent manner. Concerning the disclaimer at the start of the manual, it was inconsistent with the terms of the Corrective Action policy. The Champion s employees, including Dillon, could interpret an implied contract because of mixed messages they received from the written manual, the disciplinary action policy, the at will relationship explained, and the oral statements given. 4. ... So concluded William James in thinking about that most basic of riddles: how did something come from nothing? The question infuriates, James realized, because it demands an explanation while denying the very possibility of explanation. From nothing to being there is no logical bridge, he wrote. In science, explanations are built of cause and effect. But if nothing is truly nothing, it lacks the power to cause. It s not simply that we can t find the right explanation it s that explanation itselffails in the face of nothing. This failure hits us where it hurts. We are a narrative species. The ancient Greeks suggested that empty space is filled with substance a plenum, an ether. Aristotle conceived of the ether as an unchanging fifth element, more perfect and heavenly in its invariance than earth, air, fire, or water. True nothingness was at odds with Aristotle s physics, which said that bodies rise up or fall down as dictated by their rightful place in the natural order of things. Nothingness, however, would be perfectly symmetric it would look the same from every angle rendering absolute spatial directions like up and down utterly meaningless. An ether, Aristotle figured, could serve as a kind of cosmic compass, an ultimate reference frame against which all motion could be measured. For those who abhorred a vacuum, the ether banished every last trace of it. The ancient ether stuck around for millennia until it was re imagined in the late 19th century by physicists like James Clerk Maxwell, who discovered that light behaves as a wave that always travels at a particular speed. What was waving, and speed relative to what? The ether was a handy answer, providing both a medium for light waves to travel through, and, as Aristotle originally imagined, a reference frame against which all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An individual gets into business to provide goods and/or services in exchange for a premium. That could be many things ranging from other goods, services, money, or an agenda. In the article, The Necessary Art of Persuasion, the author, Jay A. Conger, attempts to illustrate to the readers that one must learn and become fluid in the art of persuasionin the business environment. I believe this argument in favor of persuasion is relative now more then ever. In the past persuasion has had a place in sales and marketing. Attempting to use persuasive techniques in other areas of business could have been deemed as devious or manipulative. However, certain aspects of how we do business and conduct ourselves has changed over the years. Although the fundamental purpose as to why we do business is still the same how we get to the end goal is not. Persuasion definitely has its place in the business world. A great use for persuasive techniques is communicating internally within ones organization. Conger describes in his article that in order for one to be successful with the use of persuasion one must first redefine what they consider persuasion to be. This article also dives into why persuasion is good to motivate ones subordinates and get them to become more effective and efficient at what there function is. Abramson then later starts writing about how Kushner s recent behavior of being seen less by the public (Parker). Abramson questions why and what he s doing in secret. She does this to arouse the public s curiosity since she does have valid questions that others may formulate. In addition to this, the writer also brings up facts about Kushner to make him look bad. In the past, Jared Kushner had tried to set backchannels and communicate with russians even before they were admitted to office (Abramson). He then later denies this story completely. • 20. Normality And Pathology Of A Christian Therapist Normality and Pathology The first factor that a Christian therapist needs to consider is the demarcation between what is considered a sinful action and psychopathology, or normal and abnormal behavior. However, some authors believe abnormal behavior cannot be so concisely defined (Bennett, 2011), because assessment of abnormal behavior is affected by numerous factors, including social and cultural norms and biases. All cultures have their own formal and informal rules for behavior. These rules delineate the laws governing socially acceptable behavior and moral standards, usually within clear boundaries. When a particular social or moral behavior exceeds the norms of a specific culture, that behavior is viewed as abnormal (Butcher, 2007).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third factor in defining normal and abnormal behavior is the ambiguity of the breakpoint. There is no clear center point for the division between normal and abnormal. Butcher (2009) argued that there is no universal agreement with regard to when a behavior crosses a line from normal to abnormal, and irrespective of any definition there is always some kind of flaw present. He continued that the more a person demonstrates difficulties in particular areas of his/her life, the greater the likelihood of abnormality. Nevertheless, the term mental disorder is applied to a set of categories and classifications of abnormal human functioning. Millon (1969) grouped perspectives on mental disorders into four different categories. First, there are biophysical theories, which assume that physiological processes are the primary determining factors of psychopathology. Second, there are intrapsychic theories which assume that psychological factors determine abnormal psychological behavior. Third, there is phenomenological theory which talks about the unique experience and perception of each individual, and how that perception is lived out. Lastly, behavioral theories assume that the process of learning through reinforcement shapes pathology in the individual. In the end, the categorization of mental disorder is inadequate because it does not do justice to the complexity of cognitive, emotional, spiritual, behavioral and relational factors that are at work in the development ... • 21. Leadership Skills During The Nazi Party Essay In this essay I will base leadership skills on how effective the pair were with what they did within the Nazi Party as well as partially on the qualities that made them both respectively good leaders. The German Workers Party was formed on the 5th January 1919. It was set up by Anton Drexler, Karl Harrer, Dietrich Eckart and Gottfried Feder. It later became the National Socialist German Workers Party in 1920 and was called the Nazi Partyas a nickname. Drexler was the Chairman of the Party from 1920 1921 and was succeed by Adolf Hitlerfrom 1921 1945. Within the Party there were other organisations: the Sturmabteilung(SA) and the Schutzstaffel (SS). The SA were also known as Stormtroopers and they were the military for the party. The SS started out as private bodyguards for Hitler but then became the parties military force. Hitler became Chancellor, appointed by President Paul von Hindenburg, in 1933. In the 1933 General Election, the Communist Party were banned and the Nazi Party got a majority so had power (1). Hindenburg died in 1934. After this Hitler then made a combined role of Chancellor and President which was called Fuhrer (2). On the 1st September 1939, the Nazi s invaded Poland and two days later France and Britain declared war on Germany. This was the beginning of World War Two (1). Heinrich Himmler was the Nazi Propaganda Leader from 1926 1930. He became the head of the SS in 1929 and in 1936 he was the head of the new national police (3). The SS and the ... • 22. Willy Loman As A Tragic Hero In the play The Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman is a very troubled and distraught character. He is an ordinary man with nothing to show for himself. This leads him to a constant internal battle. A tragedy, being defined as, a play dealing with tragic events and having an unhappy ending concerning the downfall of the main character. The Death of A Salesman can be thought of as a tragic play because the main character sets out to achieve something that will inevitably lead to his downfall. While trying to live out a perfect version of the American dream but falling very short. Often, Willy Loman is debated as a tragic hero, a character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to their own destruction. When people think of a hero, they automatically turn to kings or people of high nobility. The author, Arthur Miller, believed that the common man makes the best tragic hero. In his essay, Tragedyand The Common Man , Miller argues for Willy Loman by stating, a tragic hero does not need to be of high nobility, it can be in an average person who possesses a tragic flaw . Arthur believed that there were many heroes in the world, and tragedy can affect even the lowest of the classes. A tragic hero often makes the decision to end his life due to his tragic flaw. Willy Loman can be defined as a tragic hero because he exhibits excessive pride, is noble in nature, but imperfect so that the audience can relate to him, and is faced with a very big decision that he has to make. The first characteristic provided by Aristotle is that the hero must exhibit excessive pride. Willy shows this by repeatedly rejecting jobs that are being offered to him and stating that he already is employed. CHARLEY: You want a job? WILLY: I got a job, I told you that. [After a slight pause] What the hell are you offering me a job for? CHARLEY: Don t get insulted. WILLY: Don t insult me. (Act 1). He feels as though the people offering him the job are inferior to him. Nevertheless being laid off several times, he continues to turn down offers. In his mind, he will eventually make a sale and does not need charity. Not being employed proves fatal to his life, because Willy should be the one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Herein lies his hypocrisy hypocrisy because while he judges Daisy for running around too much , he himself, is running around with Myrtle, unbeknownst to Daisy. Later, while all riding into the city together, Tom confronts Gatsby about Daisy in front of everyone saying, I suppose the latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from Nowhere make love to your wife (Fitzgerald 130). They take their trophy wives for exactly the reason that they are trophy wives , prizes he didn t believe debutante marrying fraternity boys could ever properly love a woman. • 24. The Infamous Patchwork Mouse Case The universal principle that underlines all work conducted in the field of science is that the knowledge yielded from scientific discovery can never be considered to be indisputable truth as it is derived solely from the human perspective of the world and, to the greater extent, the tangible universe. As a result, theories brought forward that are considered to be factual one day can be justly discarded the next if enough evidence is produced to form a realised contradiction. It is due to this, therefore, that scienceholds great authority over how society is able to perceive its surroundings and consequently, how it allows human society to progress. Science is far from perfect . As it is conducted by human beings, it is only natural that mistakes and inconsistencies are likely to occur. However, there is a distinct line between work that is genuine and that of work that has been purposely falsified to produce a desired result. This is known as pseudoscience (or scientific misconduct) and is largely responsible for the wealth of controversy that has been brought upon science. In particular, this report will focus on a widely criticized and notorious case of scientific fraud, consisting of how it was perpetrated, what events transpired because of it, the motives of the accused, how the case is likely to bring harm to science and what measures can be employed to rectify any possible instances of future misconduct. Therefore, sex education should be taught to students at the age of ten or in the fifth grade. Within the sex education curriculum, fifth graders should begin the journey by learning about their bodies and how it works. Since most kids in this age group start going through puberty, they should know why these changes are occurring. As they move onto middle school, their sex education courses should focus on the abstinent method. The reason is because most parents fear that if their child is exposed to a comprehensive method too early they will engage in that sort of activity. In the seventh grade, a more comprehensive method will be administered, rather than teaching solely about abstinence. According to Eli Coleman, director of the program in human sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School, comprehensive sexuality education approaches are effective in delaying the onset of sexual activity and have the advantage of increasing the likelihood of individuals acting responsibly by protecting themselves and their partners by using condoms and other forms of contraceptives to prevent sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies (Pan). This idea, seen as controversial and offensive to many, is at the core of Bernard Mandeville s argument in his poem, The Grumbling Hive: or, Knaves turn d Honest. The poem compares the working of society to a busy hive. The hive is flourishing until suddenly the bees become honest and righteous leading them to live simple lives without a thrive community. Through this analogy, Mandeville argues that pursuit of private vices generates public improvements and economic prosperity, meaning, individuals tendencies to pursue their own vices, such as lust and greed to innovationfor society as a whole. This is demonstrated through the benefits of marijuana legalization. Mandeville addresses many aspects of degeneracy and selfishness within private life, highlighting vice as an intrinsic and unavoidable part of . Vice, by Mandeville s standards, is an action that fulfills the individual in some respect but is immoral, selfish, and unfair. The seven deadly sins provide a framework for behavior that would be considered detrimental and self regarding. Mandeville, in the poem, provides examples of such actions within all echelons of society. Mandeville writes, Physicians valu d Fame and Wealth/ Above the dropping Patient s Health (71 72). As example of greed, medical professionals pursuit of capital gain and social stature are the driving factor in treating patients rather than an altruistic desire to aid humanity. Again, Mandeville displays occurrences of vice within society by demonstrating instances of individual s pursuit of wealth at the expense of others, Their Kings were serv d, but Knavishly,/ Cheated by their own Ministry;/ ...Robbing the very Crown they saved (113 117). The King s own advisors and officials steal from him, greedily pursuing their own self interests over that of the Kingdom. Recently Taiwan elected a pro independence party. Even though Taiwan is not part of the people s republic of Chinait has always maintained that it intended to be part of a democracy China. That is now put in doubt add to this some provinces wish to leave China and form their own countries. China is hardly breaking apart but it might help us to look at a different China than today s. The time frame is also easy to mark start and end with the rise and fall of the dynasty. Yet in the time following the Han and until the Sui there were only one dynasty that ruled all of China the Jin and it lasted only till the death of its ruler. This has lead to the time period being given different names and boundaries. Some of the names used are the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Six Kingdom period. The former refers to the fact that this period saw China broken into a clear north and south division while the latter refers to the fact that this time period saw Six Dynasties controlling the southern part of the country. Others will divide the time period into three separate eras, these being the Three State or Kingdom Period, the Western Jin, and the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The first refers to the three kingdoms that formed after the fall of the Han also called the three kingdom period. The western Jin was the name of the brief uniting dynasty the eastern Jin lasted longer in the south but China was no longer unified. This Northern and Southern Dynasties refers strictly to time after the fall of the Jin until the rise of the Sui. I will use the term northern and southern dynasties for the larger time period as I feel it would be improper for us to use the term Six Kingdom Period to refer to the north which ultimately reunified China. • 43. Federal Aviation Administration s Policies In August of 2015, quickly approaching the September 30th renewal of the Federal Aviation Administration s policies, many regional airlines questioned the amount of time required for commercial pilots to have under their training belt. As of 2013, it is an FAA standard that pilots training for their commercial license must accumulate 1,500 hours before they are considered to have completed the program. While 1,500 hours of flying time, especially for pilots of a commercial airplane, does not seem like much, the minimum amount of hours that they had to accumulate before the rule change was just a mere 250 hours of fly time. With an increase of 1,250 hours, many of the executives from these regional airlines are upset because of one effect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some cases, an airline has even had to remove themselves from an airport due to the unpopularity or the inability to fund said airline flying out of that airport. While losing routes, and therefore revenue, is a big deal to most of these major airlines, the pilots of these airlines seem to have a different take on the problem. They believe it is the salary they get from the airline themselves that deters pilot from flying commercial planes. Pilots pay $150,000 to $200,000 to obtain their commercial license, while some airlines are only offering $21,000 or less as a starting salary. All in all, potential candidates for a commercial pilot s license are having a hard time believing that their significant training expenses will be rewarded in the long run. Whatever the case may be to the shortage of pilots, there is one group fighting against any amendment or new legislation that would require, or encourage, pilots getting 1,500 hours before piloting a commercial plane for an airline. These are the families of the 50 people that died in a 2009 Colgan Airlines crash that happened in Buffalo, New York. In this case, the pilots were flying through a snowstorm, and on an improper response to a turboprop maneuver, the plane stalled and crashed, consequently. While the pilots lack of training was documented as the ultimate cause to this crash, the pilots of this flight had 3,379 and 2,244 hours of flying. So that begs the question, ... The Rise and Fall of Ford Motor Company Essay The rise of multinational companies and increased global diversification by even small companies has resulted in people of diverse backgrounds and cultures working together in the same office or for the same organization. Conflict in such situations is predictable, but understanding the diversity issues can help companies implement programs designed to keep conflict at a minimum and to take full advantage of the many benefits which such diversity brings to an organization. Key to understanding how diversity is managed in multinational organizations is understanding the concept of corporate culture (which defines organizations), diversity programs and their use to minimize conflict among employees, and the unique problems that employees... He was an Italian physicist, astronomer, mathematician, philosopher, and engineer who played a large role in the scientific revolution (1564 1642). Galileo was often faced with controversial arguments about his findings. Based on the shared knowledge of the Catholic Church, it tried to compress the personal knowledge of Galileo. This is where the idea of personal and shared knowledge shaping each other comes into perspective, as Galileo was continuously faced with the knowledge of the Church. Continuously his personal knowledge was rejected, because shared knowledge had such an influence among the people. His hypothesis frightened both the Protestant leaders and Catholic Church because it went against their teachings and authority. If people believed that the church could be wrong about this, they would question the church teachings as well. The Church warned Galileo of his theories, however silently he continued to research. The Church s greatest fear was that Galileo s personal knowledge would ultimately change the shared knowledge of the Church. In 1632, he published a book which presented both of the ideas of Copernicus and Ptolemy, and it was clear that Galileo supported the Copernican theory which stated that the Earth moved around the Sun.
