Everyone Has An Obligation To Give Back
Everyone Has An Obligation To Give Back
In modern age, the idea of doing something for free might sound strange and accepted in different
means by different individuals. However, it strongly depends on how you accept it, for instance,
volunteering, which has become popular in recent decades, is one of the greatest examples of giving
or doing something for free without getting paid. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding
experiences that individuals can have. Volunteering is a responsible work which requires time, effort,
and talent but gives an exciting impressions, helps to meet new people, acquaintances and gives an
opportunity to help those in need. In addition, there have been countless studies to show the benefits

The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your
overall psychological well being. While no monetary compensation is received, many will tell you
that their work and experiences gained as a volunteer were worth way more than any money they
could have earned from another work line. It builds self confidence and lifts the spirits. You are doing
well for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a
volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. And the better you feel about yourself, the
more likely you are to have a positive view of your life and future goals. Older adults, especially those
who have retired or lost a spouse, can find new meaning and direction in their lives by helping others.
Whatever your age or life situation, volunteering can help take your mind off your own worries, keep
you mentally stimulated, and add more zest to your life. Moreover, Studies have found that those who
volunteer have a lower mortality rate than those who do not. Older volunteers tend to walk more, find
it easier to cope with everyday tasks, are less likely to develop high blood pressure, and have better
thinking skills. Volunteering can also lessen symptoms of chronic pain and reduce the risk of heart
disease; this is because during the volunteering hours, you mind is enriched inversely with the joy

Descriptive Essay On A Safari
Top Luxury Tented Mara Camps
A fun way to spend this summer is to go on a luxury safari. There are many places that offer this
package, but none comes close to what the cradle of mankind does. The cradle of mankind, East
Africa, has a lot to offer for any tourist looking for fun, adventure and luxury all combined into one.
The best place to enjoy a full safari in East Africa is to go visit the Mara. The Mara is a breath taking
place where you will get to see all the big five (lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino) and at the
same time you get to enjoy the tropical weather. As the tourist will be a luxury traveller here are a
couple of luxury tented camps in the Mara for him or her to enjoy.

Weapons Of Mass Destruction Research Paper
Ever since the tragic events that took place on 9/11, the looming fear of terrorist organization opting to
use a Weapon of Mass Destruction has manifested itself into the biggest concern for our nation s
Homeland Security. To prevent such destructive weaponry from ever falling into the possession of a
hostile extremist group, the United States government must continue to be active and remain persistent
in their counterterrorism efforts. Several major terrorist organizations throughout the middle east, are
vigorously attempting to obtain and even develop these weapons so they can be used against their
enemies. Even the very thought of a terrorist group, such as ISIS, successfully obtaining or developing
a Weapon of Mass Destruction alone, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The incredible amount of danger associated with the use of any Weapon of Mass Destruction is the
reason for why it s become the biggest concern towards the safety and security of the United States
and its citizens. The term Weapon of Mass Destruction is used to identify and categorize an assortment
of extremely devastating weaponry, as each of the weapons placed into this category have two unique
traits: their potential for large scale destruction and the indiscriminate nature of their effects, notably
against civilians (Reed, n.d.). Since the despicable attacks made against the United States on 9/11, no
other major attacks involving a Weapon of Mass Destruction being used by a terrorist organization to
target the United States have been documented. This is primarily due to the governments focus on
increasing the level of Homeland Security and arrangements made with other foreign nations to
effectively monitor and control the manufacturing of these weapons. By effectively applying theses
new strategic measures, it has made it very problematic for terrorist s organizations to even be able to
obtain the materials required to develop a Weapon of Mass

Relationship Between The European Union ( Eu ) And The...
Abstract This paper analyzes the multifaceted and ever evolving relationship between the European
Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO). With the globalization of security
concerns and with the series of major terrorist attacks beginning on September 11, 2001, cooperation
between these two major powers is becoming increasingly important and hotly debated. In this day
and age international security is of the utmost importance. The world leaders in international security
are the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU). This paper explores
the relationship between these two institutions in the context of security policies, members, global
effect, and the participation and influence of the United States.
Introduction A separation has existed between the EU and NATO since there founding s, however,
with the growing realization that the concerns facing the international community can no longer be
managed by these organizations individually the issue of how the relationship between these
organizations will progress is being pushed into the forethought of political debate. Given the extent
of the transatlantic relationship, congressional foreign policy activities, and interests frequently
involve Europe, the relationship between the United States and the European Union (EU) has become
increasingly significant in recent years. This relationship is likely to grow even more important. In this
context, Members of Congress

Negligence, Liability, And Liability
QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law known
as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to be
properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what
circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area.
SHORT ANSWER
In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and liability
refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can only be at risk
if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following elements are met and
proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not met, damages have
occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed to the damages that
occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable and having to pay for
damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use to deflect or lessen
liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary assumption of risk.
PRINCIPLES/TOOLS
Negligence
Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of care.
Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the standard
of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the

Compare and Contrast the Attitudes and Values of the Two...
Compare and contrast the attitudes and values of the two speakers of the poems and how the poets
have used language to convey these between  To His Coy Mistress” by Andrew
Marvel and  My Last Duchess” by Robert Browning Both the poems have the theme
of love, written from a man’s point of view, and explores the way men treat woman in
relationships. The former does this by a male narrator writing a poem to a female, using imagery to
entice her. The latter by using a duke, explaining the story of what happened to his previous wife
whilst looking at her picture. Both the poems use imagery and other poetic devices but in different
ways. The first uses them more often to impress her. The second uses them in a ... Show more content

This shows he knows how to write a love poem and he again he has all the right techniques for
persuading a person. The second poem does also use imagery, however in a different way and for a
different purpose. The narrator is describing the duchess to the emissary  That’s my
last duchess painted on the wall”. This shows he is only describing the painting but as he is
using the imagery he describes what she was like and how she made him angry. However as he
describes her it makes her seem like she is just an object, which she was to him. This is his view of
woman, that they belong to a man which was very common belief at that time. From the poetic
devices used their attitudes are different because in the first he shows his sensitive side and tries to put
a bit of romance into it. However the imagery in the second goes against him as he believes that she
was his object and belonged to him. In both poems there is the recurrent theme of irony. In  To
His Coy Mistress” the poem’s entire first section is ironic in the sense that the
speaker knows he isn’t being genuine. The speaker uses words to his advantage and we can
take little of what he says to be truthful. In Line 1,  Had we but world enough, and

In the recent years, General Dynamics has begun an expansion to expand their market reach in many

Child Workers During The Industrial Revolution
There were child workers part of the Industrial Revolution and there were some kids that worked in
mines, and after this time the Africans became part of the Berlin Conference. After the Berlin
Conference Africa s lad became useless, and the Africans were left with nothing. During both these
time the child workers were more negatively impacted.
The children started working when they were four or five years old, and they were working full time
jobs. They would wake up at five o clock in the morning to start walking to work, and they would
walk all the way to work and back by themselves. In the coal and iron mines which are worked in

them by their aprons. Our regular time was from five in the morning to nine or ten at night; and on a
Saturday, till eleven, and often twelve o clock at night, and then we were sent to clean the machinery
on the Sunday. John Birley was interviewed by The Ashton Chronicle on 19th May, 1849. Most
children didn t get to go to school, they didn t even get to learn to read or write at home. Some women
lost the chances of having a child, because of the positions they sat in all day and most of the night.
The women seem to suffer especially from this work, and are seldom , if ever, as straight as other
women. There is a testimony here, too, to the fact that deformities of the pelvis and consequent
difficult, even fatal, child bearing arise from the work of the women in the mines. As they took the
pain of not being able to have a child of their own, so did the African women and men, just in a
different way. They got their children taken away and some were killed or raped. They got attacked
and everyone was suffaring. They are armed in by the government and sent into various African
villages where they proceed to kill civilians of target vital infrastructure, and commit wide scale rape.

Language In Animal Farm
Throughout George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, the accumulation of power results from language
and the use of rhetoric. Through language and the authority of words, the expulsion of Mr. Jones
transpires and the undemocratic ascension of Napoleon s dictatorship is made possible. The
remarkable rhetorical and articulation ability of the pigs and their skillful manipulation of language for
any situation that questioned their integrity dictated the fate of the farm. The novel demonstrates,
through the animals on the farm, humans susceptibility to the manipulation of language, the illusion of
integrity created by powerful words and the influence of persuasive oratory without fully
comprehending its meaning. After the rebellion on Manor Farm and the banishment of Mr.Jones the
animals set up seven guidelines in which to govern themselves by, known as the Commandments . All
the animals on the farm help devise and inscribe them on the side of the barn to ensure their visibility
to all. The pigs manipulation of these commandments to gain control over the other animals is an
evidence of the power of language manipulation demonstrated in the novel. To begin, the pigs broke
the commandment Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy and through the use of powerful speech
justify their actions to the other animals. Napoleon announced that he had decided upon a new policy.
From now onwards Animal Farm would engage in trade with neighbouring farms: not of course, for

Barbara then looked directly at the moon and said, Do you think that bright beautiful moon, casting its

Cassie, at the time, wasn t thinking of her self but about Robert Cody and, I wonder what Robert Cody

Racism In Gran Torino
Gran Torino, directed by Clint Eastwood, is a very moving and captivating drama. It s a simple story
about tolerance and cultural differences, but also one of hope, self sacrifice, and unlikely friendships.
A former auto worker at Ford, Walt Kowalski has just had to put his longtime wife to rest when the
story opens. From his scowl, it looks as if he would like to join her. Instead he sits on his front porch
chugging can after can of cheap beer in the company of his yellow Labrador, Daisy, while watching
the world at a safe distance with a squint and a stream of bitter commentary. The remaining members
of his family, including two sons with big houses, big cars, big waistlines, have no choice but to let
him stew alone.
Gran Torino tackles racism head on. Although the main character Walt Kowalski, played by Clint
Eastwood, is prejudiced against almost everyone, the film focuses on an Asian neighborhood,
uncovering racism and violence. The neighborhood has gone down hill since it has become immigrant
dominated. The house next door is now owned by a Hmong family, a widespread South east Asian
minority, and Walt does not trouble to distinguish them from the Koreans he fought in the 1950s.
Throughout the film, we learn Walt had to kill many Koreans as part as his duty as a soldier during
that period of time. The film takes a twist when the bitter old war veteran s life takes an unexpected
turn after Thao, a shy, teenage boy who lives next door to Walt is bullied by his

The Importance Of Public Open Space In Public Health
Public open space (POS) plays a significant role in maintaining public health. It has been positively
connected with the improvement of residents physical health due to the opportunities provided for
physical activities, which reduce the risk of a wide range of common disease that threaten people s
life.
With a population of 4 million, Jeddah is Saudi Arabia s second largest city. Due to its rapid
population growth, alarming public health issues and natural disaster such as flooding, public open
space in Jeddah has become an important issue. The provision of current POS in Jeddah is minimal
and is not adequate to serve the needs of those 4 million people of the city. It also does not affect any
environmental urban services to encourage walking or physical health,
The paper will give a scope in depth to urban design strategies and its influences in public open space
to promote the urban health of a rapidly growing Saudi Arabia city.
It has been argued that open space plays a significant role in maintaining public health by acting as a
green lung in urban environments (Cranz 1982; Woolley 2003). In United States, in the latter half of
the 19th century, elements of open space such as levelled walkways and pleasant view were used as
adjuncts in the treatment of patients with tuberculosis ( McBride 1998). The US Department of Health
and Human Services (2008) highlights that there is strong evidence that physical activities reduce the

Jackson. My paper consists of interesting facts about Mr. Jackson. It isn t like what you read about in
regular history books. Although some are random there fun facts that you may or may not know about
my topic.
The Life of Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson was born Friday March 15, 1767. He was raised in Waxhaw, North Carolina. His
parents had three children, him, Hugh, and Robert. Before he was born they and his parents emigrated
from Ireland almost two years before he was born. He was named after his father that had died before
he was born.
He was raised by his mother in which was a widower. She raised him on a settlement near the North
and South Carolina border. He had a large family of Irish immigrant farmers. His mother wanted him
to become a minister but he went in a completely different direction at a young age. Young Andrew
began to cuss, fight, and even pull pranks on different people in the town.
The American Revolutionary War was now all around him and his two brothers. The effect it had on
his life was devastating. He and his brothers joined the war to fight for the cause. Jackson was only
thirteen years old. His brother Hugh soon died of heat stroke in Battle of Stono Ferry in 1779.

Out, Out by Robert Frost Essay
Out, Out
Out, Out, by Robert Frost is a gruesomely graphic and emotional poem about the tragic end of a
young boy s life. It is a powerful expression about the fragility of life and the fact that death can come
at any time. Death is always devastating, but it is even more so when the victim is just a young boy.
The fact that the boy s death came right before he could Call it a day (750) leads one to think the
tragedy might have been avoided and there by forces the reader to think, What if. This poem brings
the question of mortality to the reader s attention and shows that death has no age limit.
It was powerful poems such as Out, Out that gave Robert Frost the reputation as one of America s

This was the start of Frost s reputation as one of the great American writers of the 20th century.
Out, Out is a great example of a typical Robert Frost poem. This narrative poem tells a story of human
tragedy through the death of a young boy. The poem shows how fragile life can be and how it can be
taken from people in an instant. The boy s tragic death is illuminated for the reader by a commentator
watching the incident from the outside looking in. There is a lot of detail given to the reader early on
describing the saw and the way it snarled and rattled. These details and the emphases on the boy s age
and his wanting to leave work early made the situation destined for tragedy. It was as if Frost was
preparing us for the tragedy to come, And nothing happened: day was all but done (9). This suggests
that something is definitely going to happen. Another clue that something awful is about to happen is
the way the saw is personified it: leaped out of the boy s hand (16). As it is described, the saw jumped
out of the boy s hand when he is called for supper, As if to prove that saw knew what supper meant
(15). Through the use of onomatopoeia, the saw is also made to sound vicious like an attack dog when
it is heard to snarl and rattle. The personification and description of the noises of the saw makes
defiantly it seem like a major character in the poem.
The theme of this poem is the boy s

There are many significant reason why there have been numerous issues or complaints in the field of
nursing over the past several years. The issue that has been more common over the years is what I
would considered to be the most important issue that nurses have to put up with on a regular bases is
what effects does the working environment have on nurses that work in the environment they either
have to conform to or find a way to put a stop to the issues the working environment has caused.
There are positive and negative aspects that effect the working environment in the nursing field,

Structural empowerment Purdy et al. state is the notion that removes conditions that foster dependence
and powerlessness within an organization that will result in a positive employee behavior and improve
performance (Effects of work environments on nurse and patient outcomes) which would cause a
better working environment to work in. That being said I agree that being able to feel as you have
power as a nurse to be able to be able to say things and control a little of how you work makes a nurse
feel great about themselves as if they don t just have to watch and write down all that the patient does
or what the doctor say, it is like they actually have a voice in the matter. Psychological empowerment
is defined as the psychological state employees must experience for empowering interventions to be
successful (Smith Lesley, Andrusyszyn and Laschinger Effects of workplace incivility and
empowerment on newly graduated nurses_ organizational commitment). I would have to agree
because if you have a good mind set about things even if it the worst thing in the world it will not
seem like it is. Having a good mind set conquers all things. Smith et al. say that the empowering
interventions are as followed meaning, confidence, autonomy and impact (Smith, Andrusyszyn and
Laschinger Effects of workplace incivility and empowerment on newly graduated nurses_
organizational commitment). It is so true the mind if you really think of it is made up of these things,
and these are the things that get most people through the day. For example having confidence in your
work will make you feel as if you can do anything at work as long as it is legal and you are able to do.
I would say that they are on to something and that something would be that if you have empowering
employees the nurses work environment would not be so difficult to do with and there would be a

A Necessary Condition For The Storage Of Information
A necessary condition for the storage of information in the computer s memory is the ability to
transform this very information in the appropriate form for your computer. In the event that this
condition is satisfied, it is necessary to determine the structure, it is suitable for information is present,
one that will provide a set of capabilities required to work with it. Here, the structure refers to the way
the information by which the aggregate of individual elements form a unity, due to their relationship

Examples Of Figurative Language In Porphyria s Lover
The early nineteenth century poem by Robert Browning, Porphyria s Lover , is filled with examples of
figurative language. Browning uses metaphors, similes, and personification to bring the poem to life.
The use of figurative language allows Browning to raise from the dead a poem with the unemotional
tonee of the speaker. He exposes the mind of a psychopath, an insane lover, mastering the art of the
dramatic monologue. Porphyria s Lover opens with a scene of a warm cozy cottage during a raging
storm. Amidst the storm, a young, yellowed haired woman named Porphyia comes calling on the
speaker. The poem starts with the simplicity and purity of a young lover and a cozy cottage in the
countryside. The poems tone abruptly changes as Porphyria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Line 32, the speaker describes her eyes as Happy and proud , or does this describe the speaker s
feelings. The statement is ambiguous, but what is clear is that he sees the love she has for him in her
eyes. The speaker also compares Porphyria s closed eyes to the bud of a flower with a bee inside, in
Lines 43 44. Is this because he is afraid of being stung by her eyes upon their open, or is this a sexual
metaphor? Bees pollinate flowers, so is this meant to represent the desire in her eyes? He continues in
Line 45, using synecdoche to make her blue eyes represent her as a whole woman. In the line, it states,
Laughed the blue eyes without a stain ; the stain could be used as a metaphor. The eyes could be filled
with broken blood vessels due to the strangulation, or the stain of his sin of killing her is visible in her
eyes. This poem had, and continues to have its fair share of critics. Amongst them, a Victorian critic
named John Ruskin. Ruskin scathingly ridiculed Browning s use of figurative language in his
literature. Ruskin argued that his form was bad craftsmanship, calling it a pathetic fallacy . He argued
that something such as the weather cannot reflect the inner state of the characters. Ruskin had a
problem with the weather depicting mood such as rain being indicative of sadness or the sun being

The Characteristics Of Intellectual Disabilities
Definition: The term intellectual disability has gone through a series of modification along the years.
For instance, at first mental retardation was the terminology intellectual disability was referred to as
(Gargiulo Bouck, 2017, p. 162).Nonetheless, Intellectual disability is defined by Gargiulo and Bouck
as a disability characterized by significant limitations in both in intellectual functioning and in
adaptive behavior as expressed in conceptual, social and practical adaptive skills (Gargiulo Bouck,
2017, p. 165).In other words intellectual disability is not only primarily focusing on cognitive
impairment but also in a child s behavior.
Characteristics: To start with, intellectual disability is not specific enough to narrow down specific
characteristics that members of this group share. Meaning that not every single person placed under
intellectual disability will share similar characteristics (Gargiulo Bouck, 2017, p. 181). Impaired
cognitive functioning is the most prevalent characteristic displayed by students affected with this
disability (Gargiulo Bouck, 2017, p. 181). Cognitive functions include: individual s ability to learn,
acquire concepts, process information, and apply knowledge in various setting such as school
(Gargiulo Bouck, 2017, p. 181). Furthermore, attention is another feature students with intellectual
disability experience the individual struggles to focus their attention and often become distracted

Hindu Temple And Yoga Service
From the Hindu Temple and Yoga service, surprisingly, the people I interviewed had a lot of
similarities in their thoughts and responses. For Hinduism, rituals consist of visiting the Hindu Temple
to chant prayers and participate in events such as singing Kirtans, songs in praise of God. Radhika
Ramesh and Raje Sathasivam both stated they attend Hindu rituals because it helps them to connect
with their religion and their community; most of the devotees can converse in Indian language and
connect with each other since people share the same heritage and culture. Through this connection, I
feel the dimension of ritual and aesthetic are the most important to the interviewees. The ritual

From Hinduism, I realized that religion plays a pivotal role for people since there are prayers and
rituals for each and every aspect of everyday life and special occasions. Religion not only connects
people to their Gods, but it also connects people spiritually through gatherings at the temple.
According to yoga instructor Lynne Boucher and Julie Tette, people oftentimes take part in yoga as a
means to become calm, peaceful, and centered through physical movement. The yoga service that I
attended was offered for Dance Team members as team bonding day right before our competition. For
yoga, I think the ritual and emotional dimension is most important for the interviewees. The emotional
dimension is strongly present since yoga is primarily about self reflection of one s own emotions such
as love, stress, or fear. During yoga, Mrs. Boucher guided our thoughts us by asking us to reflect about
what our biggest fears are for the upcoming competition. Mrs. Boucher also guided our session by
telling us think about the stresses that occur within the dance team; then as we acknowledged our
stresses, she told us to breathe out and let go of worries, pressures, and anxieties. For the ritual
dimension of yoga, it plays a central role since it consists of collectively gathering to support each
other in a spiritual and physical way. When we held the tree pose, we realized how hard it was told
hold the pose by ourselves. Then as we were instructed to utilize each other for

Reasons And Results Of The Civil War
Reasons and Results of the Civil War
The Civil War was a very critical event in American History. It started by many disagreements
between the North and the South. For blacks as for other Americans, the Civil War was a strong voice
preaching the needs for devotion and allegiance to form a justified nation. After the war ended there
were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world. The South was known
as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the Union. The
seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and conflicts
between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive act.
Situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand the South wanted to withhold all undetermined powers to the individual states and
to withhold all these projects. The predominant issue why the South seceded was the slavery issue.
The South wanted and called for slavery and would do anything they could to keep it. Cold heartedly
the slaves were items and if taken away would put a huge dent in investments towards Southerners.
The value to the slaveholding planter class was immeasurable. Northerners demanded for collective
bargaining to develop goals such as free education, better salaries and working conditions for workers,
and better rights for woman. Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free
person. The subject of slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in
the Civil War. Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more
segregated society than we already are. This war was needed in order to produce a stronger and more
stable country for everyone.
Slavery was abolished in the Union during Abraham Lincoln s presidency. Lincoln called it
Emancipation Proclamation. This movement was definitely a day of awakening for America as a
whole, which finally realized what free meant. All the Southern states would soon rejoin the Union.
After the war concluded

Scripture Paragraph Text:
Colossians 1:24 2:5
Book Purpose:
Paul s purpose in writing this book is to teach against the false teaching s being taught there.
The main theme of the book is that Jesus Christ is God and the only true way to heaven.
Subject of Paragraph:
Sacrificial Service for Christ
Scriptural Context:
Immediate: The Passage before this one deals with the Supremacy of Christ. It tells that Christ is God
and how he reconciled us to him. The passage after this one deals with living in him. It tells of the
fullness that can be found in him. Paul also writes of our forgiveness and how he was triumphant over

Gentiles Strong s

Theme:
Paul s theme is to tell about his labors for the Gospel and encourage them in their faith.
Original Meaning:
The meaning of the passage to Paul is to strengthen his brothers in the faith. Paul wrote this to show
them that things will not always be perfect and that some times they will face trials but with Jesus all
things are possible. Paul also encourages himself through the encouragement of the church of Colosse.
I think that when Paul writes to the church s and tell them what he thinks, encourages them , prays for
them, or even just telling them what he face for the gospel, that it gives him a sense of
accomplishment or even a sense of why he is doing what he is doing.
I think the meaning of this passage to the Church of Colosse is to be reminded of who Jesus is and
what he went through for them. They needed to be reminded of Christ s Deity and that there a people
who care for them and like Paul are willing to go through extreme percussion for

Piaget Vs Vygotsky
From the beginning of time and still to present day, people have always been curious as to how we
develop from little tiny helpless humans into the fully functioning members of society. Two
psychologists, Piaget and Vygotsky, developed different theories about cognitive and language
development. Piaget s theory says that children try to understand the world around them in different
phases as they grow. As children, they want to make sense of everything that is going on around them.
Piaget says that there are four stages of cognitive development that we go through as we age; sensory
motor period, pre operational period, concrete operational period, and finally the formal operational
theory. According to Piaget, we should be through all of these ... Show more content on

The first one being that his research was biased. He only used a very small sample of children to
complete the study, and he also used his own kids in his experiments (Cherry, 2017). Piaget also did
not take into account what children are capable of. He often asked the children too difficult of
questions and/or made them very confusing for children to understand. Piaget also did not realize that
many people never reach the final stage (formal operational period), he stated that we should all reach
that stage between age 11 and adulthood (Kail, 2016). He also thought that the social environment and
culture that someone is raised in did not affect the cognitive and language development of a child, this
is a big weakness since he did not explore all options for why we develop the way we do. Piaget was
also flawed in thinking that language comes after thought, when most other psychologists think
development is a combination of both. Piaget said that developing thought was more important than
developing language, which caused his findings to be skewed and biased (McLeod,

Model Minority Stereotypes
Everyone feels pressured to excel in school, and this is especially true for Asian American students.
The stereotype that all Asians are smart is a common label that defines the model minority stereotype.
It consists of Asians being labeled as one group where they are all intelligent in the sense of being
naturally good at math, science, and technology, as well as being hard working, self reliant,
uncomplaining, and never in need of help from anyone ( Model Minority Stereotype ). This racial
stereotype has an adverse influence on college admissions, increases academic struggling, and raises
mental health issues. Although the model minority stereotype may seem positive because it portrays
Asian Americans as geniuses, it is actually quite harmful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to college officials, Asian American college students state that they feel deeply pressured to
succeed. For example, Wai Kwong Wong, a counselor at Cornell University explains that he has
witnessed depressed students having difficulties coping on their own, which leaves them in a
predicament. Wong explains that students stop attending class because they are so overcome with
embarrassment over the fact that they do not have work to submit. Instead, they turn to avoidance
where they remain at home, hoping that they will be able to catch up; however, this fails to happen
because the students are too depressed. They fall further and further behind instead, reaching to the
extent where they completely shut down and hole themselves in their rooms. Imagine being so
consumed by anxiety and the pronounced, looming fear of embarrassment that it forces one to miss
class; it is truly terrible. Not only that, Wong elaborates that not many of these students tell their
families about their problems: They don t want their family to worry, or they don t think their family is
going to understand ( Depression ). These issues are significant because students cannot go to their
own family for help and support due to being overwrought with unbearable shame. Likewise, students
are clearly experiencing worrisome effects of this

Rowan Williams Argument For The Existence Of God
Rowan Williams is the current Archbishop of Canterbury and leader of the Church of England wrote a
book based on Christian belief. He is the chief religious figure of England as such he is responsible for
leading the life and witness of the Church of England in particular by his teaching and oversight, and
promoting and guiding the communion of the world wide Anglican Church. He knows his audience,
they are Christians, seeking answers about God s existence. Williams does not come across as a
lecturer rather it reads as if he is having a conversation with his audience. He allows for the reader to
pause and reflect what he has written. In his writings, he explains that he explains that, The Bible has
no arguments for the existence of God , and never has a person entered into faith because of a

her an answer. After asking friends and family to help, he sent the letter to Williams and was surprised
to get a response. There is clearly a shift in audience between the first and second text. The first text
was directed to a general audience of varying ages, and the second text is addressed to a six year old
girl, Lulu. The first text focuses more on the complex topic of the existence of God and the possibility
that he interferes with our world. The second text, is a personal letter addressed to a

François told them they had to go because they were more than a team now, they were the hope for a

the poor neighborhood and played with the kids. It was a transforming experience for them and for all
the country. Now people were realizing how black and white people must be in the same places and
live the same life. Everyone has to be represented and only now black people knew how that was like.

after all Miss Brill nearly laughed out loud (100). This realization eventually moves Miss Brill to
tears. Being a part of something as full of life as the park scene gives her a sense of belonging.
However, by this point in the story, the reader is aware that Miss Brill has deluded herself. Actually,
no one at the park is even aware she s around, and the truth is that if she weren t there, no one would
miss her at all. Happiness built on an illusion can only last so long. In the story, Miss Brill s happiness
is shattered by a single chance remark when the young couple who she has cast as the hero and

remark; instead, the point of view shifts so that we observe her actions as she goes home. However,
these actions are enough to illustrate that her self view has been destroyed. The first example of her
change in perspective is when she fails to go into the bakery, the usual climax to the Sunday park visit.

How Does Rebecca Grand Use Irony In The Labyrinth
Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that child be taken, I took him. You cowered
before me and I was frightening. I have reordered time, I have turned the world upside down, and I
have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn t that
generous? These words spoken by Jareth the Goblin king perfectly describe how the main character
felt throughout the Labyrinth a movie made from a story by Rebecca Grand. In the story Labyrinth the
author, Rebecca Grand, uses many different literary devices such as irony to surprise the audience.
The first type of irony type of irony the author uses in Labyrinth is dramatic. Dramatic irony is the
type of irony where the audience knows what is going to happen but the characters don t. One
example of dramatic irony is when Jareth, the Goblin king, tells Hoggle that if Sarah kissed him that
he would become the king of stink. This is dramatic irony because Sarah didn t know about what
Jareth said but the audience is aware. Another example, of dramatic irony is when Jareth s goblin army

Situational irony involves a discrepancy between what is expected to happen and what actually
happens. One of the best examples of situational irony is when Jareth said to Hoggle don t lose your
head right before Sarah entered the forest with the fiery creatures, because the audience expects the
fiery creatures to take off Hoggles head but they actually try to take Sarah s head. In addition, another
example of situational irony is when Jareth gives Sarah another chance to get her brother back. This is

Low Voter Registration
One of the primary causes for low voter turnout in the United States is low voter registration. In order
to vote in state, local, or federal elections, citizens are required to be registered by a certain date before
the election. People can register in person, by visiting a state affiliated election facility, or by mailing
their registration forms, postmarked no later than the registration date. Additionally, only 31 states
including the District of Columbia give voters the option of registering online. Considering this fact
and that we are living in an age with great technological advances, 31 states is far too few. Hence,
New York s inability to modernize voter registration and reach out to new voters effectively lowers the
number of registered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad news is that all of these policies need to be approved by the state legislature which
notoriously has had a track a record for stalling and not allowing many of these changes to be
implemented. For instance, in 2014 the Democrat controlled State Assembly passed legislation that
would establish 2 weeks of early voting, but the Republican controlled State Senate blocked the
legislation from passing. Similarly, the battle for same day registration in the state legislature has been
ongoing since 1988, when current Governor Andrew Cuomo s father, Mario Cuomo was the Governor
of New York and had suggested making registration deadlines as late as possible. He had also
appointed a special task force to study voter turnout and come up with a solution to resolve low voter
turnout. The special task force ultimately proposed implementing same day registration to the state
legislature. The existing power struggle between Democrats and Republicans in the state government
have made it all, but impossible for voter registration reform. However, New York s future looks
bright as there are more and more state officials speaking up and getting on board with many of the
proposed registration

A Human Papillomavirus Vaccine
asil: A human papillomavirus vaccine
[GENERAL INTRODUCTION] The modern world is considerably lucky in the fact that vaccinations
have been created and made readily available thanks to Edward Jenner and his development of the
first vaccine for smallpox in 1796. Since the 18th century, there have been about fifty different
vaccines created to protect humans against bacterial and viral diseases. A vaccine is a substance that
can be administered through needle injections, by mouth, or by aerosol to stimulate the production of
antibodies and supply immunity against one or a few diseases. The vaccine is prepared from the
causative agent of a disease and is used to act as an antigen without activating the disease. There are
many different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vaccinations to an individual are extremely beneficial, but there are many individuals who do not
believe in vaccines, too. This is when the vaccine herd effect becomes a vital role in vulnerable
populations at a high risk for obtaining infection. The vaccine herd effect, refers to the indirect
protection of unvaccinated persons, whereby an increase in the prevalence of immunity by the vaccine
prevents circulation of infectious agents in susceptible populations. (Kim, et al. 2011) The herd effect
has been a major reason for the abolition of smallpox and the protection against influenza and
pneumococcal disease since the vaccinated individuals have spread the vaccine benefits to
unvaccinated people. Early vaccinations were primarily attenuated or inactivated, but over time and
with advancements in immunology, biochemistry, and molecule biology, there have been new
strategies implemented in the development of vaccines. An article in the Brazilian Journal of Medical
and Biological Research discusses the use of recombinant proteins which allows the targeting of
immune responses focused against protective antigens. There are, a variety of expression systems with
different advantages, allowing the production of large quantities of proteins depending on the required
characteristics. Live recombinant bacteria or viral vectors effectively stimulate the immune system as
in natural infections and have intrinsic adjuvant properties. (Nascimento and Leite, 2012). The

Media Influence On Mental Illnesses
Vincent Van Gogh, Marilyn Monroe, Emily Dickinson, Beethoven and Buzz Aldrin are all renowned
professionals in their field of work, recognized and respected by people all around the world.
Although their incredible accomplishments are most memorable in people s minds, what few people
realize is that all of these inspirational, historical figures also showed signs of having bipolar disorder.
When prompted about their opinion on mental illnesses, it is common for most people to use words
such as violent, erratic, or unpredictable. Hearing people jump to such harsh conclusions about mental
illnesses raises the question about where these stereotypical, and inaccurate views came from. The
simple answer is the media. With the world as technological as it is today, people often become
influenced or gain certain opinions due to what the media and press show as well as hide from the
public.
Often times the media s inaccurate portrayal of individuals with bipolar disorder is all that the average
person is exposed to. In television shows and movies the characters with mental illnesses are created
as people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this show is a crime drama, the majority of the criminals have some degree of a mental
illness causing them to perform such heinous crimes. Seeing hundreds of mentally ill people destroy
the lives of others, the viewer gains a very specific and generalized view about mental illnesses. This
causes viewers to jump to the conclusion that every person with bipolar disorder must be prone to
violence. The reality of this is that, according to statistics, less than 20% of individuals with bipolar
disorder have ever actually had a violent episode. As with other acts of violence, there are numerous
contributing factors other than mental illnesses causing individuals to act out, such as drug and alcohol
abuse, poor influences, as well as lack of crucial

Everyone Has An Obligation To Give Back Everyone Has An Obligation To Give Back In modern age, the idea of doing something for free might sound strange and accepted in different means by different individuals. However, it strongly depends on how you accept it, for instance, volunteering, which has become popular in recent decades, is one of the greatest examples of giving or doing something for free without getting paid. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding experiences that individuals can have. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your overall psychological well being. While no monetary compensation is received, many will tell you that their work and experiences gained as a volunteer were worth way more than any money they could have earned from another work line. It builds self confidence and lifts the spirits. You are doing well for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. And the better you feel about yourself, the more likely you are to have a positive view of your life and future goals. Older adults, especially those who have retired or lost a spouse, can find new meaning and direction in their lives by helping others. Whatever your age or life situation, volunteering can help take your mind off your own worries, keep you mentally stimulated, and add more zest to your life. Moreover, Studies have found that those who volunteer have a lower mortality rate than those who do not. Older volunteers tend to walk more, find it easier to cope with everyday tasks, are less likely to develop high blood pressure, and have better thinking skills. The cradle of mankind, East Africa, has a lot to offer for any tourist looking for fun, adventure and luxury all combined into one. The best place to enjoy a full safari in East Africa is to go visit the Mara. The Mara is a breath taking place where you will get to see all the big five (lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino) and at the same time you get to enjoy the tropical weather. To prevent such destructive weaponry from ever falling into the possession of a hostile extremist group, the United States government must continue to be active and remain persistent in their counterterrorism efforts. The incredible amount of danger associated with the use of any Weapon of Mass Destruction is the reason for why it s become the biggest concern towards the safety and security of the United States and its citizens. The term Weapon of Mass Destruction is used to identify and categorize an assortment of extremely devastating weaponry, as each of the weapons placed into this category have two unique traits: their potential for large scale destruction and the indiscriminate nature of their effects, notably against civilians (Reed, n.d.). Since the despicable attacks made against the United States on 9/11, no other major attacks involving a Weapon of Mass Destruction being used by a terrorist organization to target the United States have been documented. This is primarily due to the governments focus on increasing the level of Homeland Security and arrangements made with other foreign nations to effectively monitor and control the manufacturing of these weapons. By effectively applying theses new strategic measures, it has made it very problematic for terrorist s organizations to even be able to obtain the materials required to develop a Weapon of Mass ... Abstract This paper analyzes the multifaceted and ever evolving relationship between the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO). With the globalization of security concerns and with the series of major terrorist attacks beginning on September 11, 2001, cooperation between these two major powers is becoming increasingly important and hotly debated. In this day and age international security is of the utmost importance. The world leaders in international security are the North Atlantic Trade Organization (NATO) and the European Union (EU). This paper explores the relationship between these two institutions in the context of security policies, members, global effect, and the participation and influence of the United States. Introduction A separation has existed between the EU and NATO since there founding s, however, with the growing realization that the concerns facing the international community can no longer be managed by these organizations individually the issue of how the relationship between these organizations will progress is being pushed into the forethought of political debate. Given the extent of the transatlantic relationship, congressional foreign policy activities, and interests frequently involve Europe, the relationship between the United States and the European Union (EU) has become increasingly significant in recent years. This relationship is likely to grow even more important. In this context, Members of Congress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Negligence, Liability, And Liability QUESTION PRESENTED Concerns have arisen of a possible lawsuit involving an area of law known as negligence and liability. This memo outlines the principles of this area of law in order to be properly prepared should the firm face any legal consequences. It aims to illustrate under what circumstances can the firm be affected with potential legal action in this area. SHORT ANSWER In legal context, Negligence is behaviour that falls below the reasonable standard of care and liability refers to who can be held accountable for any damages occurred. Legally, the firm can only be at risk if there is evidence that suggests negligent conduct and all four of the following elements are met and proven: a duty of care is owed to an individual, the standard of care is not met, damages have occurred, and the failure to meet the standard of care significantly contributed to the damages that occurred. Along with negligence, there is a possibility of being deemed liable and having to pay for damages. However, even if found negligent, there are tools that the firm use to deflect or lessen liability such as vicarious liability, contributory negligence or voluntary assumption of risk. PRINCIPLES/TOOLS Negligence Negligence, in its legal definition (common law), is behaviour that falls below the standard of care. Negligence can only be attributed if all four elements are present: a duty of care is owed, the standard of care is not met, there is evidence of considerable damages and the ... Compare and contrast the attitudes and values of the two speakers of the poems and how the poets have used language to convey these between  To His Coy Mistress” by Andrew Marvel and  My Last Duchess” by Robert Browning Both the poems have the theme of love, written from a man’s point of view, and explores the way men treat woman in relationships. The former does this by a male narrator writing a poem to a female, using imagery to entice her. The latter by using a duke, explaining the story of what happened to his previous wife whilst looking at her picture. Both the poems use imagery and other poetic devices but in different ways. This shows he knows how to write a love poem and he again he has all the right techniques for persuading a person. The second poem does also use imagery, however in a different way and for a different purpose. The narrator is describing the duchess to the emissary  That’s my last duchess painted on the wall”. This shows he is only describing the painting but as he is using the imagery he describes what she was like and how she made him angry. However as he describes her it makes her seem like she is just an object, which she was to him. This is his view of woman, that they belong to a man which was very common belief at that time. From the poetic devices used their attitudes are different because in the first he shows his sensitive side and tries to put a bit of romance into it. However the imagery in the second goes against him as he believes that she was his object and belonged to him. In both poems there is the recurrent theme of irony. In  To His Coy Mistress” the poem’s entire first section is ironic in the sense that the speaker knows he isn’t being genuine. The speaker uses words to his advantage and we can take little of what he says to be truthful. In Line 1,  Had we but world enough, and time”. • 10. Language In Animal Farm Throughout George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, the accumulation of power results from language and the use of rhetoric. Through language and the authority of words, the expulsion of Mr. Jones transpires and the undemocratic ascension of Napoleon s dictatorship is made possible. The remarkable rhetorical and articulation ability of the pigs and their skillful manipulation of language for any situation that questioned their integrity dictated the fate of the farm. The novel demonstrates, through the animals on the farm, humans susceptibility to the manipulation of language, the illusion of integrity created by powerful words and the influence of persuasive oratory without fully comprehending its meaning. After the rebellion on Manor Farm and the banishment of Mr.Jones the animals set up seven guidelines in which to govern themselves by, known as the Commandments . All the animals on the farm help devise and inscribe them on the side of the barn to ensure their visibility to all. The pigs manipulation of these commandments to gain control over the other animals is an evidence of the power of language manipulation demonstrated in the novel. To begin, the pigs broke the commandment Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy and through the use of powerful speech justify their actions to the other animals. • 12. Racism In Gran Torino Gran Torino, directed by Clint Eastwood, is a very moving and captivating drama. It s a simple story about tolerance and cultural differences, but also one of hope, self sacrifice, and unlikely friendships. A former auto worker at Ford, Walt Kowalski has just had to put his longtime wife to rest when the story opens. From his scowl, it looks as if he would like to join her. Instead he sits on his front porch chugging can after can of cheap beer in the company of his yellow Labrador, Daisy, while watching the world at a safe distance with a squint and a stream of bitter commentary. The remaining members of his family, including two sons with big houses, big cars, big waistlines, have no choice but to let him stew alone. Gran Torino tackles racism head on. Although the main character Walt Kowalski, played by Clint Eastwood, is prejudiced against almost everyone, the film focuses on an Asian neighborhood, uncovering racism and violence. The neighborhood has gone down hill since it has become immigrant dominated. The house next door is now owned by a Hmong family, a widespread South east Asian minority, and Walt does not trouble to distinguish them from the Koreans he fought in the 1950s. Throughout the film, we learn Walt had to kill many Koreans as part as his duty as a soldier during that period of time. This was the start of Frost s reputation as one of the great American writers of the 20th century. Out, Out is a great example of a typical Robert Frost poem. This narrative poem tells a story of human tragedy through the death of a young boy. The poem shows how fragile life can be and how it can be taken from people in an instant. The boy s tragic death is illuminated for the reader by a commentator watching the incident from the outside looking in. There is a lot of detail given to the reader early on describing the saw and the way it snarled and rattled. These details and the emphases on the boy s age and his wanting to leave work early made the situation destined for tragedy. It was as if Frost was preparing us for the tragedy to come, And nothing happened: day was all but done (9). This suggests that something is definitely going to happen. Another clue that something awful is about to happen is the way the saw is personified it: leaped out of the boy s hand (16). As it is described, the saw jumped out of the boy s hand when he is called for supper, As if to prove that saw knew what supper meant (15). Through the use of onomatopoeia, the saw is also made to sound vicious like an attack dog when it is heard to snarl and rattle. The personification and description of the noises of the saw makes defiantly it seem like a major character in the poem. The theme of this poem is the boy s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is this because he is afraid of being stung by her eyes upon their open, or is this a sexual metaphor? Bees pollinate flowers, so is this meant to represent the desire in her eyes? After the war ended there were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world. The South was known as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the Union. Northerners demanded for collective bargaining to develop goals such as free education, better salaries and working conditions for workers, and better rights for woman. Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free person. The subject of slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in the Civil War. Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more segregated society than we already are. Piaget Vs Vygotsky From the beginning of time and still to present day, people have always been curious as to how we develop from little tiny helpless humans into the fully functioning members of society. Two psychologists, Piaget and Vygotsky, developed different theories about cognitive and language development. Piaget s theory says that children try to understand the world around them in different phases as they grow. As children, they want to make sense of everything that is going on around them. Piaget says that there are four stages of cognitive development that we go through as we age; sensory motor period, pre operational period, concrete operational period, and finally the formal operational theory. He only used a very small sample of children to complete the study, and he also used his own kids in his experiments (Cherry, 2017). Piaget also did not take into account what children are capable of. He often asked the children too difficult of questions and/or made them very confusing for children to understand. Piaget also did not realize that many people never reach the final stage (formal operational period), he stated that we should all reach that stage between age 11 and adulthood (Kail, 2016). He also thought that the social environment and culture that someone is raised in did not affect the cognitive and language development of a child, this is a big weakness since he did not explore all options for why we develop the way we do. Piaget was also flawed in thinking that language comes after thought, when most other psychologists think development is a combination of both. Piaget said that developing thought was more important than developing language, which caused his findings to be skewed and biased (McLeod, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wong explains that students stop attending class because they are so overcome with embarrassment over the fact that they do not have work to submit. Instead, they turn to avoidance where they remain at home, hoping that they will be able to catch up; however, this fails to happen because the students are too depressed. They fall further and further behind instead, reaching to the extent where they completely shut down and hole themselves in their rooms. Imagine being so consumed by anxiety and the pronounced, looming fear of embarrassment that it forces one to miss class; it is truly terrible. Not only that, Wong elaborates that not many of these students tell their families about their problems: They don t want their family to worry, or they don t think their family is going to understand ( Depression ). These issues are significant because students cannot go to their own family for help and support due to being overwrought with unbearable shame.
