Compassion Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Nurses Essay
Pediatric oncology nurses are given the unique opportunity to make connections and build long
term relationship with their patients and families. Standard treatment protocol for many childhood
cancers span over the course of years, with long term surveillance and follow up visits after
treatment has finished. Due to their patient s chronic diagnoses and the acuity of their conditions,
pediatric oncologynurses work in an environment of increased stress. The high stress environment
puts the nurses at an increased risk for compassion fatigue; so it is the responsibility of both the
nurse, and the institution to be aware of the symptoms and to effectively manage the condition
should it arise. Without proper attention to the stress... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses also provide end of life, and post mortem care. When a patient dies, the nurse often grieves
alongside the family and helps to provide them with emotional support (Hecktman, 2012). Although
the prognoses of childhood cancer have improved drastically over the last 30 years, many children
still succumb to the disease. Nurses are the ones who provide constant bedside care, and often must
confront the limits of what medicine can do for people (Schuster, 2013). This can prove to be
difficult and bring on feelings of hopelessness and as though they are not helping their patients at
all. Patients can leave lasting impacts on the nursing staff, and when multiple children die while in
their care, the nurse may begin to experience cumulative loss. Childhood cancer is the leading
cause of non accidental death for children in Canada, and therefore, pediatric oncology nurses are
often exposed to death on a routine basis, with little time to grieve between the deaths. It is
imperative that nurses are aware of their stressors and how they respond to stress in order to
effectively care for their patients.
Patient care may be at risk if a nurse is experiencing compassion fatigue. Nurses can start to exhibit
distancing or desensitizing behaviors in order to cope with their stressors; thus leading to a
decreased satisfaction in patient care and an ineffective therapeutic relationship. The failure of the
nurse to identify their stress, can

My Reflection On My Capstone Rotation
1.Some of the emotions I experienced at clinical were a sense of self confidence and excitement.
In previous semesters, I feel as if I am typically a little more nervous on the first clinical
experience. However, my emotions were very different starting my capstone rotation. I think
this is because I know I am nearing the end of nursing school and I have much more knowledge
than I did at this time two years ago. I have learned that nursing is a profession of life long
learning and each day is an opportunity to learn something new. Therefore, having those ideas in
mind I feel that I didn t make myself worry about what I didn t know, instead, I was excited and
focused on what I was going to learn. These feelings held true for both shifts... Show more content

Two nurses were continuously talking negative about a nurse s aide on the floor. They felt that she
didn t help them as much as she could have and that she picks and chooses who she helps. After
taking a recent workplace violence module in our leadership class this semester, I have a better
understanding on how this impacts patient centered care and that this situation is a very negative
workplace behavior. Initially, I felt that it was best to ignore the situation because as a student I
didn t want to get involved. However, after the gossip continued, attempts to resolve the issue
were to state that the floor was busy and as a PCT I often get behind as well, the nurses then
agreed that the unit was busy and moved on to a different conversation. Throughout the whole
ordeal I continued to have my patient s best interest at priority and didn t let the behavior of these
nurses impede on the care being provided. (2 points)
4.Safety concerns that I encountered during the experience were in regards to a patient admitted for
unrelieved chest pain. The patient was in his late seventies and had end stage renal disease.
According to Lewis and colleagues (2014), after age seventy five, renal clearance of medications
declines substantially, which places elderly individuals at risk for medication toxicity (p. 73).
However, since the patient also had end stage renal disease the risk for toxicity was even greater.
Because of the patient s

Motor Recruitment Theory
1. Ok so the sliding filament theory is basically the contraction of the sacromere. Calcium released
from an ion channel bind to troponin which lies on the thick filament known as the actin. This then
causes the tropomyosin to reveal on the actin. The myosin head then releases a phosphate from an
ATP which causes then forms a cross bridge attaching both thick and thin filament. Causing one
musclecontraction.
2. The motor recruitment theory explains the use of multiple muscle fibers such as type 1, type 2,
and type 2 b muscle fibers during different physical activities. Each person has all three of the
fibers but, they may be more versatile in one then the others. For example, I have more type 2 b

The prayer of the petitioner is that the respondents be directed to stop feeding Aruna, and let her
die peacefully. 4. We could have dismissed this petition on the short ground that under Article 32
of the Constitution of India (unlike Article 226) the petitioner has to prove violation of a
fundamental right, and it has been held by the Constitution Bench decision of this Court in Gian
Kaur vs. State of Punjab, 1996(2) SCC 648 (vide paragraphs 22 and 23) that the right to life
guaranteed by Article 21 of the Constitution does not include the right to die. Hence the
petitioner has not shown violation of any of her fundamental rights. However, in view of the
importance of the issues involved we decided to go deeper into the merits of the case. 5 5. Notice

Children Of Dust By Ali Eteraz
Children Of Dust Ali Eteraz is a smart and thoughtful writer. He also has a way of adding a bit of
comedic value in his writings when needed. His book Children of Dust is a memoir of his life in
Pakistan and America. This book also reads more like a story as opposed to a book that just
states facts. This book Children Of Dust is broken down into five parts. Each one of these parts
signify a different name he takes for himself. Meaning, each of these names or parts identify a
certain stage in his life, that he comes to terms with something. Such as Pakistan, Islam, and
America and how he belongs to each.
The first part of this book is called The Promised Abir ul Islam. This means the Perfume of Islam,
and is about Ali as a child in Pakistan, who learns of his destiny and attends a maraca (Eteraz, 1).
Before Ali was born, his father enters a mannat, or a Covenant with God. He said that if God were
to give him a son, then he would promise that the family will become a great leader and a servant
of Islam. After Ali was born, his mother went to Hajj and brought Ali with her. She then rubbed the
baby s chest on the wall of the Ka ba in Mecca. This was a way for him to be blessed by God, or
Allah. He grew up in a small Pakistan village and has fond memories of his family. However, he did
grow up in a strict Muslim household. After a brief but hard madrassa education, this chapter in
his life is over. His father, who is a doctor, gets a work visa to

Since most aspects of the Habits of Mind as well as the WPA Outcomes are self evident. But if I

work in other classes this semester. As a result the Rhetorical Knowledge skill transfer was
lessened. Except when it comes to the idea of using key rhetorical concepts through analyzing and

Similarities Between Egyptian And Greek Women
To be a woman in any civilization is not an easy task. Even in today s century woman keep
having difficulties and differences with equality and rights. It is not surprising that those
problems come from many centuries ago. The best ancient civilization to be a woman was Egypt.
They treated women better than Roman Empire or Athens. That is why Egyptian woman became
an example of female autonomy in society for other civilizations. Egyptians view women and
family as a crucial fact for happiness and delight, they looked women as invidious with respect
and not as objects like other civilizations. In the first place, comparing contemporary women of
Rome, Greece (especially Mycenaean); Egyptian women live with a certain freedom, respect and
free will, which put them in many ways as equal as men. They could own property, borrow money,
sign contracts, divorce, inherit, be involved in religion and even appear in court. These rights did
not make women wanting to be better than the man, on the contrary it prevailed the will and
obedience to man but always respecting their autonomy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minoan had more rights than Mycenaean; Minoan society granted women equality and freedom,
but it was only some rights and only in this society. Athenian men married younger girls so they
were easier to control and dominated. Outside of Minoan, women were restricted to organizing the
household, supervising the slaves, and performing domestic labor. They were also excluded from
public affairs and the majority lived separate from their husband s and did not had the privilege to
eat dinner with them. Husbands spent most of their free time with women known as hetaera;
foreign but educated woman employed as entertainers, prostitutes or courtesans and were the only

The Worst Computer Crime Of Children

However, the rise of the internet allowed for a new way for child pornography to flourish, with
simple websites being distributed to those who could see it from the safety of their own homes.
However, as the law matured and came to battle this, new ways to distribute the pornography
were also invented, a tit for tat war that always had each side claiming victories and losses.
Though, now it seems that newest feature on the internet to allow for child pornography to be
distributed easily is the Deep Web. This is a part of the World Wide Webthat is not discoverable by
means of standard search engines, including password protected or dynamic pages and encrypted
networks. It was created by the US government and has legitimate and useful purposes, including
journalistic freedom in repressed nations, activists on freedom of speech and the leaking of
secrets that are having an adverse effect on others. However, the anonymity presented by the Deep
Web and it s search engine, TOR (The Onion Router), has allowed for criminal means to occur
with perhaps millions of users across the world being undetected. Naturally, the argument for this
paper is not if we should be allowing this, but how strong we should be going against this. As such,
the evidence will be given that total war should be taken against these networks, to flush out the
pedophiles on these sites, take them down permanently and arrest the individuals who both create
this smut and view it. As shown by Elise

Essay on Freudian Analysis of Marigolds
Freudian Analysis of Marigolds Most of the time there is a moment in life where one realizes they
have lost all innocence and gained some compassion. Marigolds shows how one young girl
transferred from a child to young adult through her life experiences. Throughout this story another
young, but at the same time old in her prime, lady s experiences are revealed: the author s. In this
short story, Marigolds, Eugenia Collier s subconscious is unmasked through symbolism, diction,

Obviously the author has lived through the depression and was black because one could not
write something so accurate in accordance to that time period and have one feel the deep
emotional impact of her writings without experiencing it personally. In the first sentence she
writes ...all I seem to remember is dust the brown, crumbly dust of late summer arid, sterile dust
that gets in to the eyes and makes them water, gets into the throat and between the toes of the
bare brown feet. In this phrase the words give a harsh, cruel feeling of how the depression was,
which could then explain how she remembers the depression and that it was a hard time for her.
Most likely it was a significantly hopeless moment in her life. In the next paragraph she writes
When the memory of those marigolds flashes across my mind, a strange nostalgia comes with it
and remains long after the picture has faded. Knowing the marigolds symbolize hope the word
nostalgia gives a feeling of longing, since the denotative meaning is yearning. When stating the
marigolds give a strange nostalgia the author could be thinking how she, sometime in her life,
longed to have hope. She needed to have something to look forward to or just something to look
at to give her hope. Later, towards the end of the story she explains ...Innocence involves an
unseeing acceptance of things at face value, an ignorance of the area below the surface. The words
she uses give a sense of wisdom

Sympathy In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letter
Evil is Not Worthy of Sympathy Could anyone feel sympathy for a groveling, sly demon? The
demons did have a hard job, but it was a despicable job of choice. In The Screwtape Letters, by C.S.
Lewis, Screwtape busily instructs his nephew, Wormwood, who scrambles to trip up his patient,
and bring the man to hell. Throughout the book, everyone should plainly realize that neither
Screwtape nor Wormwooddeserved pity or sympathy in the least. The first reason for this is that the
demons malevolence revealed itself plainly in the book. Secondly the demons hate for all that is
good and innocent reared its ugly head, snarling in the reader s face. Finally, the pitiable, vile, cruel
plans of the demons wiped out any lingering sympathetic feelings in the reader. The demons were
purely cruelty. In chapter eight and nine, the demons mention the trough periods through which

into a purposeless, repeating roll play. He wanted to slowly and despairingly tear the Christian
from God and so tear him from the only true hope and life and joy there is in this world. Do not
be alarmed, though, because God is stronger that the demons and He, having oddly destined these
mere animals to life in His own eternal world, has guarded them pretty effectively from the
danger of feeling at home anywhere else. Screwtape admits that God insures his children a place

Channeling Communication Between the World and Us Through...
By definition, sense perception is whereby the idea of sense is referred to the external stimulus in
which we perceive our knowledge through while perception is defined to be the awareness towards
something through our senses. Long before we learned how to use language, reasoning, faith, or
emotions, we have already been making use of our external stimuluses to make senseor even be
conscious of the world. This makes sense perceptionour primary source of obtaining knowledge
since it is the only way for us to interact with the world around us. However, though it plays a

This is similar to the way in which knowledge is deduced in human sciences. For example, in
Anthropology, anthropologists make claims based on the observations they make of a particular
community. These observations can range from the clothes the people in the community adorn, to
the way in which they interact with one another. Without observing the community while being
immersed in it, theories of communities or about their culture will never surface.
While sense perception serves as our fundamental way of knowing, its strength of it being our
predominant method of acquiring knowledge is its weakness as well.
Due to the imperfection of our sensory organs, it generates inconsistent information gathered
which subsequently affects the way we perceive knowledge. In the case of natural sciences,

in a variation of the data obtained. In such a case, how can one deduce that the data collected by

everything, subconsciously or consciously. This results in us never being able to grasp a situation

Psychological Adjustments for Hirschsprung’s Disease
Hirschsprung Disease Occurring once in approximately 5000 live births, Hirschsprung disease is a
congenital abnormality characterized by the absence of autonomic parasympathetic ganglion cells
in the colon preventing peristalsis and resulting in intestinal obstruction and abdominal distension.
Also known as congenital aganglionic megacolon, this medical malady is an unfortunate anomaly
of a very vulnerable population infants and children. Hirschsprung disease can occur in otherwise
healthy babies, but is commonly diagnosed in combination with Down s syndrome and congenital
heart defects. Functional outcomes, thanks to contemporary medical advances, are generally
successful. As medical professionals, nurses play a significant role in helping patients achieve
therapeutic goals. Therapeutic goals also include a level of psychological wellness in living with
persistent bowel dysfunction after Hirschsprung surgery but few, if any, studies have addressed
this likelihood. Focusing on the results after definitive surgical repair of Hirschsprung disease, the

The influx of immigration in the past twenty years has adjusted the economy surrounding the
United States work force. According to the 2016 Current Population Survey, immigrants and their
U.S. born children now number approximately 84.3 million people, or 27 percent of the overall
U.S. population. (http://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/frequently requested statistics immigrants

27.0 billion foreign born persons occupied jobs in the United State s workforce, making up 16.9%
of the total. (https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/forbrn.pdf). These statistics have sparked a
debate surrounding the allowance of immigrants into the United Stateswork force and the
consideration of the short and long term affects immigrants have on the economy surrounding the
US job market.
One disputed topic pertains to immigrants decreasing available jobs and negatively affecting wages.
According to an article published on Penn Wharton Budget Model, written in June 2016, influx in
immigration in recent years has no long term affects upon the salaries and the quantity of American
jobs. The article states that immigration has no affect on wage growth for Native born citizens due
to companies responding to influxes of immigrant participation with increase investments; thus

The Fall Of The House Of Usher And Other Tales
Many authors try to focus on one thing in their works, and some do succeed. However, others try
to bring out multiple faces of life through their creativity and styles of writing. In the Romantic
period of American literature, several ink slingers bring out specific motifs in their works. Edgar
Allen Poe in his collection, The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales , writes in a form that
betrays the Romantic style with his use of symbolism and his focus on the individual in his short
stories.
A major idea in Poe s tales is symbolism. He displays his penchant for this in his story The Cask of
Amontillado with his character named Fortunado. In this story, Fortunado is a man who has
somehow wronged the narrator. The narrator leads Fortunado

The Fission Theory
An object of fear is one that isn t understood, however, how is one to understand when one doesn t
even know the object s origins? To understand an object that was created far before any other being
is simply impossible; when one is so determined to understand something, we create theories that
will satisfy our tasteless fruit of a mind. When one looks up at the night sky and ponders about all
but our beautiful and unique moon, how foolish must they be? The moon is our tide keeper, the
stabilizer of all that is in this world, yet the common person will look past it and instead look at the
stars! The stars are nothing in comparison to our beautiful moon! Oh, misunderstood moon, fear not

The most popular theory of the moon s origin is the giant impact theory; this theory is that a giant
mars sized space rock struck young earth and knocked a chunk of it out. This theory proves to be
fallacious because, no scientist knows where that mars sized rock is; however, the earth and the
moon are made with very similar elements (Editor). The fission theory is another theory that
doesn t quite make sense in the eyes of science; the fission theory states that the earth was
spinning a rapid speed and a chunk of the earth broke off and now that chunk is called the moon.
This makes no sense because if the earth was spinning that fast before, it d be likely that more
pieces would come off. The theory of which that should be accepted in the eyes of science is the
capture theory. The capture theory is that there was this rock wandering through space and then got
caught in the earth s orbit. This theory proves to be more understandable because the moon has a
different chemical compound than the earth. The moon has had her woes brought forth, now the
human race must choose for ourselves and ask this question: what truly happened to the moon? To
that I say that one must decide for themselves. Let them believe what they want to

especially in terms of language and Asian mind difference. As a matter of fact, we cannot examine
all the cultural barriers due to the scope of the paper. On the other hand, some differences emerging
from different thinking behavior between US and China are exemplified in the second part of the
paper. In the first part, the company information and the SWOT analysis of GM are given before
going further with the Asian operations of the company. A Company Information: First of all,

The reason of the increasing sales is increasing sales of Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac. The target
of 2 million car sales is achieved according to GM website as of November 2010. (GM fact sheet,
GM website 2010) GM has a dreadful strategic alliance with Daewoo Company (GM Daewoo) in
South Korea as far as the Asian Pacific market concerned like the case indicated. GM Daewoo
has started to increase sales, yet, it needs way to go. GM Daewoo is the low cost production
base with its facilities in South Korea and Vietnam for some GM brands such as Hummer and
Saturn and Opel of European Operations. The subsidiary made some moves to expand its
operations in Europe by purchasing former Uzbekistan and Romania plants of Daewoo and Polish
car maker Fabryka SamochodГіw Osobowych (FSO) (GM Daewo Company overview, Hoovers
website, 2010, December 5). GMAC INC. This incubation is the financial subsidiary of the
General Motors Company through which the dealers of GM offers credits or lease financing,
vehicle insurance and extended service contracts (10 K annual report, 2010 April 7, GM
website) . GMAC (General Motors Auto Insurance) was the most financially strong subsidiary of
the old GM Company. Yet, GMAC is not wholly owned by GM since 2006. GMAC agreed with
Chrysler to provide auto finance services for the Chrysler dealers in 2009, which made the
company to leverage its core strength of auto financing. On the

Market share
Market share is defined as companies sales as a percentage of total sales volume in a specific
industry, market or product area. In the local region, Qantas managed to outweigh its competitor
by gaining a toll of 65% compared to its competitor. Evidently this shows Qantas is the number
one preferred airlines compared to other competitor airlines like Virgin, Tiger Airways and
Emirates airlines. However the situation is not the same in South East Asian region as Qantas
only managed to obtain about 15% of market share compared to likes of Air Asia who leads the
market share with 60% in this region. Conversely, this is not a concern for the airlines as the
airlines managed to generate revenue of 5 billion dollars, with a predicted passenger growth of
4.9% which is equivalent to 2.9 billion passengers by 2034.

Criminal Statistics
Introduction:
The accuracy and reliability of criminal statistics is something that has been of great discussion
through criminology for decades. Whilst some are of the belief that criminal statistics are a misuse
of time and resources, others believe that there is some use for them within the criminological
community. The inaccuracies of criminal statistics come highlighted in abundance within academic
articles and research, many of which highlight the main source as the dark figure of crime. Many
also suggest other inconsistencies within official statistics to be influenced by various other factors
from both the criminal justice system (i.e. police), society and communities. But whilst there is
much research to suggest that criminal statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

statistics in some instances (eg, homicide or motor vehicle theft) give us a good guide both to the
total volume of crime and trends in its incidence. In relation to motor vehicle thefts, the almost
100 percent reporting rate may have some relation to the fact that most people have car insurance
and that in most cases to be able to claim insurance for a car that has been stolen an official report
must be made to the police. Therefore, the vast majority of car thefts would be reported to the

Let Gays Marry and Leave Marriage Alone Essay
I will summarize some of the key points from the essay, Let Gays Marry, by Andrew Sullivan, and
the essay, Leave Marriage Alone, by William Bennett. Some of these main points are taken from
mutual beliefs of both authors and others are derived from the opposing opinions of the two.
The first summary of Andrew Sullivan s essay is a reflection of Andrew Sullivan s stance of the
issue. The original essay was in favor of allowing same sex marriage in America. My summary will
dictate some of the arguments that I found to be the most persuasive and important to Sullivan s
case. The second summary is of Bennett s essay, Leave Marriage Alone. I will, again, try to point
out the most influential pieces of argument in the essay.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a basis for these arguments, Sullivan believes that marriage is an important key to the
progression of homosexual equality in America.
Sullivan is aware of certain churches and religious affiliates that would be in opposition to the
marrying of gay couples. Sullivan explains that homosexuals pushing for the permission of gay
marriage do not intend to change the doctrines or traditions of any church. The movement s actual
desire is the fundamental right to marriage.
Sullivan reiterates the hopes of the gay community by expressing their longing for recognition
before the law as a married couple. Gays are essentially making the simple request that they be
given the same marriage license as any other couple in America who wishes to be married.
Advocates of homosexual marriage say they are aiming to strengthen and become a part of the
institution. Bennett disagrees and implores that if they were allowed to follow through, and be
accepted as an active part of the institution of marriage, they would be, in turn, destroying the very
foundations of marriage.
Bennett deems that allowing gays to marry would have a profound influence on society. The
change from the traditional ideals of marriage would completely redefine the conventional
definition of marriage. Simply allowing gays to marry would contradict some of the worlds major
religions that play

The Tragedy Of Ferguson, Missouri

On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot
to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town
just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police
brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even
the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many
things that led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend
Dorian Johnson were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a
$48.00 box of Swisher Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting
the crime, a strong armed robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed
robbery ... occurs when there is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in
mind, we cannot assume that Michael Brown had a gun. We can also not say that he may have had
a gun, but just decided to not show it to the convenience store clerk in order to intimidate him or
her during the robbery. When Brown and Johnson left the store, they had a ten minute walk to get
back to where they lived. When they were walking home, they were walking in the middle of the
street when Officer Darren Wilson ordered

The Platonist Tradition and the Ordering of Knowledge...
The Platonist Tradition and the Ordering of Knowledge
ABSTRACT: I argue that the contemporary crisis in education that nothing appears valid as a
discipline unless it has a utilitarian value may be challenged from the perspective of the Platonist
tradition. The ascent through philosophy to the vision of Beauty in itself in Plato s Symposium
affirms the perception of beauty or nobility as the ultimate end and value of all knowledge.
Marsilio Ficino s adaption of Plato in the Renaissance articulates a more metaphysical ascent which
broadens the objects of knowledge in order to include the cosmos and the arts as well as philosophy.
Together, these two accounts provide a foundation for understanding the ordering of all knowledge

Of course, they are disappointed to discover that philosophy has more questions than answers, and
that there is no answer which has not been disputed. Nevertheless, they approach the subject in the
same spirit as traditional philosophical inquiry. In this spirit, then, it is appropriate to seek an
answer to the question, What is the value of education? Indeed, this question presupposes an
answer to an even more basic one: What is education?
It is difficult to articulate responses to these questions. Can liberal education today be really non
utilitarian, as it was for Aristotle, motivated by pure curiosity and a concern for excellence? (3)
Such a response has the merit of joining battle directly with the modern mentality, but it
presupposes the system of moral and intellectual virtues as defining human excellence. On the
other hand, it is impossible to follow the classical tradition and find a moral value in literature and
the fine arts without drawing critical distinctions regarding the moral value of particular works.
This, however, has long been foreclosed by the Kantian doctrine of the autonomy of aesthetic
judgment. (4) In any case, it is unclear what might be the source of moral judgment in the modern
world; the classical concept of virtue presupposed both a concept of the soul and a concept of
citizenship in a particular locality. (5) All three concepts have largely disappeared in the modern

Analysis Of Blair Witch Project
Semiotic Analysis on Blair Witch Project Blair Witch Project is regarded the first of its time, a
horror film in a documentary style movie. The release of the film in 1999 marked a new phase
in the creation of films. The Blair Witch Project set a benchmark for production of films of
different genres, especially for horror movies. The fixtures of the genre, horror films, have long
being characterized by the presence of graphical violence and torture by villains like monsters,
ghosts, demons and madmen or psychopaths. Prior to the release of the Blair Witch Project, most
horror movies were developing in many ways especially in the storyline and justifications of the
supernatural characters and scenes. Blair Witch Project was very special in many ways, using
mystery, suspense and foreshadowing to create the intense fear and scare in the audience. Since the
1980s, the horror movies have changed dramatically. With every new experience through
innovation, in the filmindustry, the horror films are expected to change with time, and in a whole
new dimension. The film Blair Witch Project, produced in 1999, has had an incredible impact and
influence, which very few films have had over the years. It is arguably among the scariest and most
frightening horror filmto date. It is a one of a kind on the basis that it being a horror film, it does
not possess the characteristics of generally known horror movies. Throughout the whole film, we

History of Early North American Colonies Essay
The European conquest for establishing North American colonies began with various motivations,
each dependent on different, and/or merging necessities: economics, the desire to flee negative
societal aspects, and the search for religious freedoms. Originally discovered by Christopher
Columbus in 1492 in search for a trade route to Cathay (China), North America remained
uninhabited, excluding the Native American establishments. Following this discovery, Spain along
with other European nations such as France, England, Sweden and the Netherlands soon began the
expedition to the new land with vast expectations. Driven by economic, societal, and religious

When traveling to London from urban areas created overpopulation in the city, and increasingly
horrendous conditions, the move to a more prosperous land seemed more and more inviting. This
idea was further enhanced by the works of English Richard Hakluyt in novels such as The Principal
Navigations, Voyages, and Discoveries of the English Nation, and Voyages, where readers were
given false insight into a vastly successful New World, theoretically open for prosperous settlement.
Those which moved to London with abortive attempts to find work, or which experienced the
scarcity of food/land supplies between 1580 and 1650, found these inviting opportunities as an
escape to otherwise, inevitable poverty. Conversely, those living in stable, prosperous societies,
with satisfactory social statuses, were less likely to be motivated by the influential works of
Richard Hakluyt and the overall conquest of America. Those experiencing religious unrest among
the Catholic Church and the Protestants embraced the opportunity to establish new settlements in
the New World. For years, the Protestants and Catholics battled for territory; during the reign of
Edward VI, Protestants attempted to exterminate Catholic origins, and following his death, Queen
Mary s rule involved the execution of Protestants. To escape religious conflicts, Plymouth, for
instance, rose from Pilgrims fleeing England to form primarily a religious settlement of Puritan
Separatists. Despite the successful formation

Albatross Anchors usually do small batch production order due to plant antiquation and safety
issues. With the limited manufacturing area and warehouse space the limited space to store raw

of order is very important to the retailers the less time to produce the more units can be produced to
increase the production and bring down the cost of production. Speed in production is the new
competitive edge in production as quick as the order is placed by the customer; the customer is
expecting the manufacture to have it delivered to them. The way a manufacturing company can
meet the challenge of speed by employing the tools and techniques that produce speed in design

This distinct feature allows for the development of a story line that orbits around the protagonists

Psychodynamic Approach And The Existential Approach
Psychotherapy and counselling are inseparable. The effectiveness of a counselling program is not
just based on the connectedness and interaction between a therapist and a client, but also the
framework of the counselling approach in helping the client improving his mental health or
overcoming personal problems. There are an extensive number of psychotherapies developed by
past researchers, with each therapeutic concept offering unique contributions in understanding
human behaviour and useful implications for counselling practice (Bedi et al., 2011). Among
these therapeutic approaches are the psychodynamic approach and the existential approach. An
example of existential approach psychotherapy is the person centred therapy that was introduced
by Carl Rogers in the 1940s. Person centred therapy (PCT) focuses on the quality of the person to
person therapeutic relationship; it places faith and gives responsibility to the client in dealing with
problems and concerns (Corey, 2009, p. 30). On the other hand, for the psychodynamic approach,
Sigmund Freud, the core founder of this approach developed psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a
therapy aimed to treat mental disorder. It is a set of techniques for treating the unconscious causes
of mental disorders; as well as to explain the underlying factors of how human personality and
abnormality develop from childhood (Corey, 2009, p. 30). This paper examines the similarities and

Glioma Brain Tumor
On April 14, 2012, my husband was diagnosed with a Glioma Brain Tumor. Even three and a half
years after his diagnosis, I still don t really know much about Gliomas, so I have decided to
research this topic. Gliomas are primary brain tumors, which mean they start in the brain. They are
a fairly common type of braintumor. These types of tumors originate in the glial cells. Glial cells
in the brain surround and support neurons. Because Gliomas often intermix with normal brain
tissue, they are called intrinsic brain tumors. Gliomas show up in three different types of cells:
astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and ependymal cells. Astrocytomas will be produced by an
astrocyte, an oligodendroglioma will be produced by an oligodendrocyte and epedymomas will be
produced by an ependymal cell. If there is a mixture of these cells, then it is called a mixed... Show

Type, size, grade of glioma, location of glioma, age, and overall health of a patient helps to
determine a treatment. Surgery to remove the glioma is commonly the first step in treatment.
Sometimes, the tumor is small and surrounded by healthy tissue and can be surgically removed.
Other times, gliomas are not easily separated from healthy tissue and are located in or around areas

My Trip To NYU Pediatric Dentistry
Alright class, we re going to take a visit to the NYU Pediatric Dentistry. That was my preschool
teacher s voice ringing through the 4 year old me before our trip. It was an unusual trip because
when permission slips were handed out, we thought it was a tour of the facility but we were
wrong. It was a dentist appointment for each of us who attended. Upon arrival, it didn t occur to
me that fear crept into the minds of the others because I was so amazed at what lied ahead of me.
The neat structures of every machine, the unity of the staff, and the knowledge of each dentist
amazed me. It felt like I entered somewhere I see myself in fifteen years. Growing up, I was
limited to certain schools due to distance and my mom s rating list.

Woodchucks by Maxine Kumin Essay
Woodchucks by Maxine Kumin
Maxine Kumin?s, Woodchucks provides an interesting and creative perspective into the mind state
of those influenced by nazi warfare. What begins as a seemingly humorous cat and mouse hunt,
reminiscent of such movie classics as Caddyshack, soon develops into an insatiable lust for blood.
Kumin?s descriptive language provides the reader with the insight necessary to understand to the
speaker?s psychology as they are driven beyond the boundaries of pacifism.
The poem does indeed have a rhyme scheme, yet doesn?t conform to conventional forms of rhyme
such as A, B, A, B, etc. Rather, each stanzaseems to follow the order of A, B, C, A, C, B, which
may not be apparent to the reader at first, but doesn?t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
?They brought down the marigolds as a matter of course and then took over the vegetable patch
nipping the broccoli shoots, beheading the carrots.? This is especially evident in the reference to
the carrots being ?beheaded? which provides an appropriate transition into the next stanza.
The third stanza is the inevitable ?fall from grace? as our speaker has finally ?taken off the
gloves? and resorts to the vengeance of cold steel. The speaker utters one last phrase of motivation
as he/she eerily takes pleasure in holding the tool of his nemesis? destruction. ?The food from our
mouths, I said, righteously thrilling to the feel of the .22, the bullets? neat noses.? The killer now
takes a moment to lament on his/her course of action, acknowledging that her pacifism is a thing
of the past; that he/she was once comparable to Darwin and his pension for non violence.
However, this does little to dissuade he/she from swiftly taking the life of the pests. ?I, a lapsed
pacifist fallen from grace puffed with Darwinian pieties for killing, now drew a bead on the little
woodchuck?s face. He died down in the everbearing roses.? This stanza marked the turning point
of the narrative as our speaker has been pushed beyond their boundaries into an unfamiliar realm of
pleasure. A side of them has been exposed that has remained dormant for what appears to be the
duration of their life. It is now a newfound sensation that has thrilled them beyond

Question 2.
Use an extended example to critically discuss how a company s annual report and accounts are
useful in understanding and analyzing its market, productive and financial performance.
Annual report and accounts like the income statement, the cash flow statement and the balance sheet
, are financial accounting statement. They comprise numerical data over the past year and indicate
the company s prospect for future financial performance. The information would allow user groups
to understand and analyse the company s performance and to make decisions of their own interests.

Let s compare the figures in chart 1.6 and 1.7; in 2007, Nokia s had a market share of 35.1% in
the China mobile phone market (2G) which dominated the market. But in 2009, its market share
dropped by 7% to 28.4%. Although Nokia s sales in China have increased, but the rate of
increase of its sales is slower than the market itself, hence the decrease on market shares. Like
the CEO of Nokia, Olli Pekka Kallasvuo said in 2010, the global market has continued to grow at
a healthy pace; the only problem for Kallasvuo is that while the market might be growing at a
healthy pace, Nokia s sales aren t. Since resources are limited, it is vital to maximize output using
the least amount of labour and capital. Like measuring market performance, we can use data on the
annual report to measure a company s productive performance physically and financially.

What to Do in Case of a Pandemia
There are many pandemics that could happen to most Americans. Such as Black outs, zombie
apocalypse, government collapse, nuclear fallout etc. if one was to survive the pandemic here
are some skills that might be a necessity. Knowing first aid is a priority. In a situation that calls
for first aid it is important to remember the Three C s Calm Cool and Collected. You must stay
calm cool and collective in order to not escalate you hart rate making you bleed more or spread
poisoning faster than normal. Even though one is calm cool and collective one still must move
at a fast pace in order to address the problem at hand. In a survival situation a person should not
take any risk that is not necessary or helpful to his well being. If it is a large epidemic one should
look for survivors around him for help. Even though one might want to survive on his own it is
better to survive as a unit, and it will be more productive than doing it on his own[Dual
Survival]. If one is assessing others around he should ask what they are feeling then checks his
breathing, and look for any visible wounds on the body. If there are wounds on the body apply
pressure with a shirt or gauze if available, apply the material available till the bleeding is no
longer visible. If the persons leg is broken or fractured, one can use a branch to stabilize and
create a make shift cast in a survival situation [the complete sas survival manual]. If sunburned

Discussion On Abortion
US POSITION
The US and UNPA
The U.S continually supports UN programs and there are many national and international debates
about the subject. But the relationship between the U.S. government and UNFPA has followed a
path similar what is known as the gag rule (Guttmacher, (2015); Jones, (2011). The global gag rule
(also known as the Mexico City Policy) is a rule that prevents any organization (including UN
agencies) receiving U.S. international family planning funds from providing counseling or referrals
for abortion or advocating for access to abortion services in their country even with their own
money (PIA, (2015); Guttmacher, (2015); Jones, (2011). Though it has political connotations, I say

Someone might be against abortions on moral grounds but still support the legalization of it,
because criminalizing abortion will bring more hard to the mother (Brannigan Boss (2011). The
UN believes that denying access to family planning will hurt women and create a poorer social
outcome for the families, women, and girls (PIA, 2005). It is better to provide women with the
necessary tools to prevent unwanted pregnancies and abort if necessary in a safe fear free
environment. Legal barriers will lead to denial in access which will lead to unsafe abortions. The
United States does not support coercive abortion or forced sterilization. The U.S. has funded and
defunded UNFPA from time to time depending on how the administration of the day interprets the
gag rule. Regardless of the moral status of the fetus, my moderate view is that abortion might be
morally wrong, but making it illegal will create more harm to society, especially to women. My
perspective is therefore a utilitarian moral

GPS Tracking As most technologies are started from some sort of military operations, the Global
Positioning System (GPS) was used for tracking troop locations and evolved to precision guided
bomb and missile attacks. Today, the use of GPS has converted into everyday use by the
average person. The GPS is a 24 satellite based navigation system. The first satellite went into
orbit in 1978 with the last one going into orbit in 1994. In the 1980 s, GPS was released from the

With a shipping theft rate on the rise at approximately $30 billion a year, the logistics industry
was forced to find better ways of tracking. As with any security device, the criminals will find
ingenious methods to work around them. (Heyn, 2014) Global Positioning System tracking in
logistics has helped the industry tremendously by adding benefits such as improved supply chain
security, meeting the customer needs by knowing exactly where shipments are, reduction in lost
shipments, and aiding law enforcement with recovery of stolen goods. As technology has
improved, GPS units have shrunk in size and now can be covertly placed within shipments. As
criminals have learned to dismantle GPS systems, often a multiple units have been put on
shipments. (Heyn, 2014) This enables a GPS receiver to be placed for tracking of a single load
like a shipping container with multiple items linked to the container, or a single value item for
individual traceability. A simple solution for shipping and transportation companies has been found
with GPS. On average, a shipment can be protected and real time traceability provided at just five
dollars unit. This is quite a return on investment with the huge theft and loss rate of shipments. (

Angelina Grimke Research Paper
Angelina and Sarah Grimke were legends in their lifetime. The sister made history, speaking to
mixed crowds of men and women. They advocated some of the most powerful anti slavery paths,
and the rights to a women s public role. Their movement was not only aimed to end slavery, not to
help racial discrimination throughout the United States. These ideas made them more sincere than
many other reformers who advocated to end to slavery. Other advocates did not believe in equality
for freedom and women. The Grimke sisters were also one of the first abolitionist to recognize the
importance of women s rights, while speaking and writing about the cause of female equality.

Analysis Of The Film Notorious
Any avid Hitchcock fan has undoubtedly seen the film Notorious. Notorious tells the story of
Alicia Huberman (Ingrid Bergman) who gets recruited by government agent Devlin(Cary Grant) to
infiltrate the house of known nazi supporters in the hopes of uncovering their master plan. At the
end of the movie, the final shot is Alexander Sebastian(Claude Rains) walking back to his group of
nazi supporters, denoting his demise is soon to follow. However, what the filmdoesn t show is what
will happen with the relationship between Devlin and Alicia, which fluctuates throughout the
movie. This uncertainty has been under constant debate among viewers as to whether or not these
lovers were meant to last, or if the lovefor each other will soon fade. While some people believe
their love will not last since the they are polar opposites of each other and through some cinematic
choices in the film, such as the long kiss they share in the beginning of the movie, I believe that by
looking at the narrativestructure of their relationship, as well as cinematic choices in relation to the
development of the plot, you can see that their love is indeed, meant to last.
In all conventional films, there is a cinematic formula most pictures live by. All conventional film
follows a three act structure; The first act being an introduction of characters and conflict, the
second act is when the complications arise, causing there to be a setback or additional decision, and

Robert Frost s The Oven Bird Essay
Robert Frost s The Oven Bird
In his 1916 poem The Oven Bird (Baym, Vol. D 1188), Robert Frost chooses a title that presents
a single, natural image of a particular species of bird. The title not only identifies this mid summer
and...mid wood bird as the singer everyone has heard in the first line, it also establishes the nature
image as a main theme in the poem. The bird s song presents images of solid tree trunks, flowers,
and pear and cherry bloom, while imposing its individual voice on the landscape. This motif is a
defining characteristic of many romantic writers, including the transcendental writers of the
nineteenth century American Romantic period. In his little book Nature, Emerson writes, I am the

Frost specifically chooses the oven bird as his singer to establish a connection between the poet
and the bird. During the nesting season, the oven bird inhabits Eastern North America, including
the New England countryside with which Frost is associated. His choice of a specific species is
also important because of the more general correlation he creates between the song of a bird and
the verse of a poet. By separating the singer in his poem from the many other types of songbirds,
he gives the oven bird in the poem a unique voice with which to frame his song. Frost uses the
unique song as a metaphor for his own poetry in order to separate himself from the romantic notions
associated with other writers of nature poetry, while also distinguishing his own modernist views on
nature.
Frost also uses the form of the poem to establish himself as a nature poet. He encloses the subject of
nature inside the traditional sonnet form, connecting himself to one of the foremost nature poets,
Wordsworth. While he uses the same form and subject as Wordsworth, he creates his own rhyme
scheme, breaking from the Petrarchan form used by Wordsworth and showing that the material
inside the casing of this sonnet is not a traditional nature poem.
While the rhyme scheme does not correspond with the Petrarchan or Shakespearean forms, its does
divide the poem into the two parts found in the

Oracle Of Delphi To Chaerephon About Socrates
Study Question One: What is the message from the Oracle of Delphi to Chaerephon about
Socrates? Early in Socrates testimony he refers to a witness by the name Chaerephon, he is
described as an early friend of Socrates and to all those present at the trial. It is mentioned that he
was exiled; however, he returned. According to Socrates, Chaerephon acted in a rash manner; thus,
Chaerephon boldly asks the oracleof Delphiwhether any man is wiser than Socrates. The Oracle of
Delphi, also known as the Pythian prophetess, responded saying there was no man wiser (Pojman
and Vaughn). We then learn that Chaerephon was dead, but his brother, who was present in court,
could testify in support of the claim.
Study Question Three: How does Socrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think of arrogance as excessive pride or dramatization with one s own achievements. The only
blatant case of arrogance to me is when he proposes maintenance in the Prytaneum to be a just
return (Pojman and Vaughn). Looking more into the Prytaneum, I found this is where
victorious Olympic athletes ate for free; for Socrates to say he deserves free meals for the rest
of his life does sound conceited. This feeling must have been shared by the jury, by comparing
the first vote, determining if he was guilty, to the second vote, which determined his punishment,
nearly 80 of those who voted for him to be not guilty supported the death penalty shortly after he
made that remark. It s hard to say if he was serious though, all we get is a synopsis, his
gesticulations could have indicated that he was trying to lighten up the atmosphere with a joke.
Some may consider the anecdote about him finding out he was the wisest man alive from the God
of Delphi to be arrogant; however, he wasn t the one who seeked the answer, it was his friend
Chaerephon. Moreover, he was skeptical to find out that was the case, so he immediately set out to
provide counter evidence to the Oracle. Lastly, emphatically advocating to reproach those who
pretend to know something when they know nothing makes it hard to say he was arrogant; I see his
behavior as a healthy skeptic who was hungry for the truth. The death penalty was absolutely
unnecessary; unfortunately, he had more enemies in the jury than friends. As history shows
unconventional views are generally suppressed by those with a vested interest, those who brought
charges against him along with his other enemies enjoyed the superior social status that came with

Historical Gender Roles
Over the past decades, gender roles and family relations have changed, specifically in marriage
and in family relations. Men and women now have equal rights, which means women can work
at any job they would like, have a right to vote, and do not have to live under any rule of their
family. Back in 1450 2000 circa people would live under very tight ruling where you either
follow the rules or die. There were a few similarities as well as differences during this time in
Western Europe and the Middle East. In 8000 600 CE in Greece only men are capable of
perfection; women secluded. Rome would have Paterfamilias. Paterfamilias are strict authority
centered around the oldest male. Women have influenced family and public lives as a mother or
daughter. Around 600 1450 CE women could own and inherit property, enter religious life as
nuns, run households, while men were away, and lower class women had more freedom. Upper
class women increased in education and divorce easier for women to file. In 1914 present men

  • 2. Compassion Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Nurses Essay Pediatric oncology nurses are given the unique opportunity to make connections and build long term relationship with their patients and families. Standard treatment protocol for many childhood cancers span over the course of years, with long term surveillance and follow up visits after treatment has finished. Due to their patient s chronic diagnoses and the acuity of their conditions, pediatric oncologynurses work in an environment of increased stress. The high stress environment puts the nurses at an increased risk for compassion fatigue; so it is the responsibility of both the nurse, and the institution to be aware of the symptoms and to effectively manage the condition should it arise. Without proper attention to the stress... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nurses also provide end of life, and post mortem care. When a patient dies, the nurse often grieves alongside the family and helps to provide them with emotional support (Hecktman, 2012). Although the prognoses of childhood cancer have improved drastically over the last 30 years, many children still succumb to the disease. Nurses are the ones who provide constant bedside care, and often must confront the limits of what medicine can do for people (Schuster, 2013). This can prove to be difficult and bring on feelings of hopelessness and as though they are not helping their patients at all. Patients can leave lasting impacts on the nursing staff, and when multiple children die while in their care, the nurse may begin to experience cumulative loss. Childhood cancer is the leading cause of non accidental death for children in Canada, and therefore, pediatric oncology nurses are often exposed to death on a routine basis, with little time to grieve between the deaths. It is imperative that nurses are aware of their stressors and how they respond to stress in order to effectively care for their patients. Patient care may be at risk if a nurse is experiencing compassion fatigue. Nurses can start to exhibit distancing or desensitizing behaviors in order to cope with their stressors; thus leading to a decreased satisfaction in patient care and an ineffective therapeutic relationship. The failure of the nurse to identify their stress, can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Reflection On My Capstone Rotation 1.Some of the emotions I experienced at clinical were a sense of self confidence and excitement. In previous semesters, I feel as if I am typically a little more nervous on the first clinical experience. However, my emotions were very different starting my capstone rotation. I think this is because I know I am nearing the end of nursing school and I have much more knowledge than I did at this time two years ago. I have learned that nursing is a profession of life long learning and each day is an opportunity to learn something new. Therefore, having those ideas in mind I feel that I didn t make myself worry about what I didn t know, instead, I was excited and focused on what I was going to learn. These feelings held true for both shifts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two nurses were continuously talking negative about a nurse s aide on the floor. They felt that she didn t help them as much as she could have and that she picks and chooses who she helps. After taking a recent workplace violence module in our leadership class this semester, I have a better understanding on how this impacts patient centered care and that this situation is a very negative workplace behavior. Initially, I felt that it was best to ignore the situation because as a student I didn t want to get involved. However, after the gossip continued, attempts to resolve the issue were to state that the floor was busy and as a PCT I often get behind as well, the nurses then agreed that the unit was busy and moved on to a different conversation. Throughout the whole ordeal I continued to have my patient s best interest at priority and didn t let the behavior of these nurses impede on the care being provided. (2 points) 4.Safety concerns that I encountered during the experience were in regards to a patient admitted for unrelieved chest pain. The patient was in his late seventies and had end stage renal disease. According to Lewis and colleagues (2014), after age seventy five, renal clearance of medications declines substantially, which places elderly individuals at risk for medication toxicity (p. 73). However, since the patient also had end stage renal disease the risk for toxicity was even greater. Because of the patient s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Calcium released from an ion channel bind to troponin which lies on the thick filament known as the actin. This then causes the tropomyosin to reveal on the actin. The myosin head then releases a phosphate from an ATP which causes then forms a cross bridge attaching both thick and thin filament. Causing one musclecontraction. 2. • 8. Children Of Dust By Ali Eteraz Children Of Dust Ali Eteraz is a smart and thoughtful writer. He also has a way of adding a bit of comedic value in his writings when needed. His book Children of Dust is a memoir of his life in Pakistan and America. This book also reads more like a story as opposed to a book that just states facts. This book Children Of Dust is broken down into five parts. Each one of these parts signify a different name he takes for himself. Meaning, each of these names or parts identify a certain stage in his life, that he comes to terms with something. Such as Pakistan, Islam, and America and how he belongs to each. The first part of this book is called The Promised Abir ul Islam. This means the Perfume of Islam, and is about Ali as a child in Pakistan, who learns of his destiny and attends a maraca (Eteraz, 1). Before Ali was born, his father enters a mannat, or a Covenant with God. He said that if God were to give him a son, then he would promise that the family will become a great leader and a servant of Islam. After Ali was born, his mother went to Hajj and brought Ali with her. She then rubbed the baby s chest on the wall of the Ka ba in Mecca. This was a way for him to be blessed by God, or Allah. He grew up in a small Pakistan village and has fond memories of his family. However, he did grow up in a strict Muslim household. • 10. Similarities Between Egyptian And Greek Women To be a woman in any civilization is not an easy task. Even in today s century woman keep having difficulties and differences with equality and rights. It is not surprising that those problems come from many centuries ago. The best ancient civilization to be a woman was Egypt. They treated women better than Roman Empire or Athens. That is why Egyptian woman became an example of female autonomy in society for other civilizations. Egyptians view women and family as a crucial fact for happiness and delight, they looked women as invidious with respect and not as objects like other civilizations. In the first place, comparing contemporary women of Rome, Greece (especially Mycenaean); Egyptian women live with a certain freedom, respect and free will, which put them in many ways as equal as men. They could own property, borrow money, sign contracts, divorce, inherit, be involved in religion and even appear in court. However, the rise of the internet allowed for a new way for child pornography to flourish, with simple websites being distributed to those who could see it from the safety of their own homes. However, as the law matured and came to battle this, new ways to distribute the pornography were also invented, a tit for tat war that always had each side claiming victories and losses. Though, now it seems that newest feature on the internet to allow for child pornography to be distributed easily is the Deep Web. This is a part of the World Wide Webthat is not discoverable by means of standard search engines, including password protected or dynamic pages and encrypted networks. It was created by the US government and has legitimate and useful purposes, including journalistic freedom in repressed nations, activists on freedom of speech and the leaking of secrets that are having an adverse effect on others. However, the anonymity presented by the Deep Web and it s search engine, TOR (The Onion Router), has allowed for criminal means to occur with perhaps millions of users across the world being undetected. Naturally, the argument for this paper is not if we should be allowing this, but how strong we should be going against this. As such, the evidence will be given that total war should be taken against these networks, to flush out the pedophiles on these sites, take them down permanently and arrest the individuals who both create this smut and view it. Throughout this story another young, but at the same time old in her prime, lady s experiences are revealed: the author s. In this short story, Marigolds, Eugenia Collier s subconscious is unmasked through symbolism, diction, and Lizabeth s actions. Obviously the author has lived through the depression and was black because one could not write something so accurate in accordance to that time period and have one feel the deep emotional impact of her writings without experiencing it personally. In the first sentence she writes ...all I seem to remember is dust the brown, crumbly dust of late summer arid, sterile dust that gets in to the eyes and makes them water, gets into the throat and between the toes of the bare brown feet. In this phrase the words give a harsh, cruel feeling of how the depression was, which could then explain how she remembers the depression and that it was a hard time for her. Most likely it was a significantly hopeless moment in her life. In the next paragraph she writes When the memory of those marigolds flashes across my mind, a strange nostalgia comes with it and remains long after the picture has faded. Knowing the marigolds symbolize hope the word nostalgia gives a feeling of longing, since the denotative meaning is yearning. When stating the marigolds give a strange nostalgia the author could be thinking how she, sometime in her life, longed to have hope. She needed to have something to look forward to or just something to look at to give her hope. Later, towards the end of the story she explains ...Innocence involves an unseeing acceptance of things at face value, an ignorance of the area below the surface. • 14. Sympathy In C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letter Evil is Not Worthy of Sympathy Could anyone feel sympathy for a groveling, sly demon? The demons did have a hard job, but it was a despicable job of choice. In The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis, Screwtape busily instructs his nephew, Wormwood, who scrambles to trip up his patient, and bring the man to hell. Throughout the book, everyone should plainly realize that neither Screwtape nor Wormwooddeserved pity or sympathy in the least. The first reason for this is that the demons malevolence revealed itself plainly in the book. Secondly the demons hate for all that is good and innocent reared its ugly head, snarling in the reader s face. Finally, the pitiable, vile, cruel plans of the demons wiped out any lingering sympathetic feelings in the reader. The demons were purely cruelty. Do not be alarmed, though, because God is stronger that the demons and He, having oddly destined these mere animals to life in His own eternal world, has guarded them pretty effectively from the danger of feeling at home anywhere else. By definition, sense perception is whereby the idea of sense is referred to the external stimulus in which we perceive our knowledge through while perception is defined to be the awareness towards something through our senses. Long before we learned how to use language, reasoning, faith, or emotions, we have already been making use of our external stimuluses to make senseor even be conscious of the world. This makes sense perceptionour primary source of obtaining knowledge since it is the only way for us to interact with the world around us. Without observing the community while being immersed in it, theories of communities or about their culture will never surface. • 17. Psychological Adjustments for Hirschsprung’s Disease Hirschsprung Disease Occurring once in approximately 5000 live births, Hirschsprung disease is a congenital abnormality characterized by the absence of autonomic parasympathetic ganglion cells in the colon preventing peristalsis and resulting in intestinal obstruction and abdominal distension. Also known as congenital aganglionic megacolon, this medical malady is an unfortunate anomaly of a very vulnerable population infants and children. Hirschsprung disease can occur in otherwise healthy babies, but is commonly diagnosed in combination with Down s syndrome and congenital heart defects. Functional outcomes, thanks to contemporary medical advances, are generally successful. As medical professionals, nurses play a significant role in helping patients achieve therapeutic goals. Therapeutic goals also include a level of psychological wellness in living with persistent bowel dysfunction after Hirschsprung surgery but few, if any, studies have addressed this likelihood. According to an article published on Penn Wharton Budget Model, written in June 2016, influx in immigration in recent years has no long term affects upon the salaries and the quantity of American jobs. However, others try to bring out multiple faces of life through their creativity and styles of writing. In the Romantic period of American literature, several ink slingers bring out specific motifs in their works. Edgar Allen Poe in his collection, The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales , writes in a form that betrays the Romantic style with his use of symbolism and his focus on the individual in his short stories. A major idea in Poe s tales is symbolism. He displays his penchant for this in his story The Cask of Amontillado with his character named Fortunado. To understand an object that was created far before any other being is simply impossible; when one is so determined to understand something, we create theories that will satisfy our tasteless fruit of a mind. When one looks up at the night sky and ponders about all but our beautiful and unique moon, how foolish must they be? The moon is our tide keeper, the stabilizer of all that is in this world, yet the common person will look past it and instead look at the stars! The most popular theory of the moon s origin is the giant impact theory; this theory is that a giant mars sized space rock struck young earth and knocked a chunk of it out. This theory proves to be fallacious because, no scientist knows where that mars sized rock is; however, the earth and the moon are made with very similar elements (Editor). The fission theory is another theory that doesn t quite make sense in the eyes of science; the fission theory states that the earth was spinning a rapid speed and a chunk of the earth broke off and now that chunk is called the moon. This makes no sense because if the earth was spinning that fast before, it d be likely that more pieces would come off. The theory of which that should be accepted in the eyes of science is the capture theory. The capture theory is that there was this rock wandering through space and then got caught in the earth s orbit. This theory proves to be more understandable because the moon has a different chemical compound than the earth. The moon has had her woes brought forth, now the human race must choose for ourselves and ask this question: what truly happened to the moon? To that I say that one must decide for themselves. Some of these main points are taken from mutual beliefs of both authors and others are derived from the opposing opinions of the two. The first summary of Andrew Sullivan s essay is a reflection of Andrew Sullivan s stance of the issue. The original essay was in favor of allowing same sex marriage in America. As a basis for these arguments, Sullivan believes that marriage is an important key to the progression of homosexual equality in America. Sullivan is aware of certain churches and religious affiliates that would be in opposition to the marrying of gay couples. Sullivan explains that homosexuals pushing for the permission of gay marriage do not intend to change the doctrines or traditions of any church. The movement s actual desire is the fundamental right to marriage. Sullivan reiterates the hopes of the gay community by expressing their longing for recognition before the law as a married couple. Gays are essentially making the simple request that they be given the same marriage license as any other couple in America who wishes to be married. Advocates of homosexual marriage say they are aiming to strengthen and become a part of the institution. Bennett disagrees and implores that if they were allowed to follow through, and be accepted as an active part of the institution of marriage, they would be, in turn, destroying the very foundations of marriage. The Platonist Tradition and the Ordering of Knowledge ABSTRACT: I argue that the contemporary crisis in education that nothing appears valid as a discipline unless it has a utilitarian value may be challenged from the perspective of the Platonist tradition. The ascent through philosophy to the vision of Beauty in itself in Plato s Symposium affirms the perception of beauty or nobility as the ultimate end and value of all knowledge. It is difficult to articulate responses to these questions. Can liberal education today be really non utilitarian, as it was for Aristotle, motivated by pure curiosity and a concern for excellence? (3) Such a response has the merit of joining battle directly with the modern mentality, but it presupposes the system of moral and intellectual virtues as defining human excellence. On the other hand, it is impossible to follow the classical tradition and find a moral value in literature and the fine arts without drawing critical distinctions regarding the moral value of particular works. This, however, has long been foreclosed by the Kantian doctrine of the autonomy of aesthetic judgment. • 37. Psychodynamic Approach And The Existential Approach Psychotherapy and counselling are inseparable. The effectiveness of a counselling program is not just based on the connectedness and interaction between a therapist and a client, but also the framework of the counselling approach in helping the client improving his mental health or overcoming personal problems. There are an extensive number of psychotherapies developed by past researchers, with each therapeutic concept offering unique contributions in understanding human behaviour and useful implications for counselling practice (Bedi et al., 2011). Among these therapeutic approaches are the psychodynamic approach and the existential approach. An example of existential approach psychotherapy is the person centred therapy that was introduced by Carl Rogers in the 1940s. Person centred therapy (PCT) focuses on the quality of the person to person therapeutic relationship; it places faith and gives responsibility to the client in dealing with problems and concerns (Corey, 2009, p. 30). On the other hand, for the psychodynamic approach, Sigmund Freud, the core founder of this approach developed psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a therapy aimed to treat mental disorder. It is a set of techniques for treating the unconscious causes of mental disorders; as well as to explain the underlying factors of how human personality and abnormality develop from childhood (Corey, 2009, p. 30). This paper examines the similarities and differences between psychoanalytic therapy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even three and a half years after his diagnosis, I still don t really know much about Gliomas, so I have decided to research this topic. Gliomas are primary brain tumors, which mean they start in the brain. They are a fairly common type of braintumor. These types of tumors originate in the glial cells. Glial cells in the brain surround and support neurons. Because Gliomas often intermix with normal brain tissue, they are called intrinsic brain tumors. Gliomas show up in three different types of cells: astrocytes, oligodendrocytes and ependymal cells. Astrocytomas will be produced by an astrocyte, an oligodendroglioma will be produced by an oligodendrocyte and epedymomas will be produced by an ependymal cell. Frost specifically chooses the oven bird as his singer to establish a connection between the poet and the bird. During the nesting season, the oven bird inhabits Eastern North America, including the New England countryside with which Frost is associated. His choice of a specific species is also important because of the more general correlation he creates between the song of a bird and the verse of a poet. By separating the singer in his poem from the many other types of songbirds, he gives the oven bird in the poem a unique voice with which to frame his song. Frost uses the unique song as a metaphor for his own poetry in order to separate himself from the romantic notions associated with other writers of nature poetry, while also distinguishing his own modernist views on nature. Frost also uses the form of the poem to establish himself as a nature poet. He encloses the subject of nature inside the traditional sonnet form, connecting himself to one of the foremost nature poets, Wordsworth.
