The Ethics Of Being Earnest Essay
As I understood, The Importance of Being Earnest is on the ethics of the British high society, and it
utilizes comedic drama to do so. For instance, the use of comedy taunts the measures to which the
high society holds themselves. The gentry had faith in orchestrated relational unions, unions between
families to contain the riches among the few. Moms searched out courteous fellows of that particular
high society quality for their sensitive little girls. Woman Bracknell solicits a number from questions
that she accepts are fundamental for a decent spouse for her little girl: what is his pay, how old is he,
where does he live, what are his governmental issues. The most vital inquiry, in any case, is who is his
family, on the grounds that the family name is what is imperative in an enduring marriage among the
high society. Wilde, be that as it may, spoofs the circumstance, as Jack does not have a family. Jack
originated from a to some degree substantial, dark calfskin purse, with handles on it, rather than
having guardians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cecily, Jack s ward, herself accidentally derides the establishment of marriage, whimsically making an
anecdotal storyline based off of the books of the period. In her journal (diary), she composes of her
engagement to Earnest, after a few breakups and her own buy of a ring for him to give her, since that
is normal in a sentiment. Through Cecily s defined engagement, I studied the detail of the high society,
that as opposed to honing German or finding out about financial aspects, the privileged wastes away
their opportunity

Puerto Rico Women Research Paper
In the 1930, Puerto Rican women were fighting for childcare, maternal care, birth control and control
over their reproductive rights (Colon Ortega, 1998). To make matters worse, Puerto Rican women
were used like lab rats. They were blamed for the poverty that existed, In 1937, the government passed
Law 116, which allowed permanent sterilization, here in the United States and Puerto Rico as well. It
was intended to control the rapid growth in population and unemployment. They called this, la
operacion (Colon Ortega, 1998). Many women were deceived in getting tubal ligation, hysterectomy,
birth control pill, EMKO, IUD and Depo Shots, not knowing the procedures, side effects or that the
changes could be permanent (Colon Ortega, 1998).

Inequality Faced by Christians in Today s Society Essay
This study shows an increase in inequality of Christians in other Countries. There is a increase in the
amount of restrictions and laws put on Christians and their Human Rights in other Countries with
more Government leaders putting guidelines on other religions and not liking the freedoms that the
people in the western Countries have, like the United States. What we can do to help with this
problem
The United Nations passed a Declaration that states:
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion; this right includes freedom to
change his religion or belief, and freedom either alone or in community with others and in public or

Paul s Glasses In Out Of Focus By Tangerine
Paul Fisher has had glasses for at least half of his life. The cause for most of the story was he looked at
an eclipse, but that wasn t the case. We later figured out it was his brother Erik. The effect of Erik was
glasses. Having glasses caused some not so good things to happen to Paul. All together, Paul s glasses
fit perfectly in the center of a cause and effect chart. Before Tangerine technically started, the reader
was told what was said to have happened to Paul. In the section called Out of Focus , which does not
have a page number, it says, The fact is we did have an eclipse that summer, around three weeks
before school started. Based on that, Erik was telling his friends this story: The reason for the Coke

50 Minute Multidisciplinary Narrative Live Performance
Proposal for a 50 minute multidisciplinary narrative live performance. Techniques of physical theatre,
dance, improvisation, poetry, aerial, video projection are used, style rules negated. Live voting/audio

as a concrete group of individuals and the here and now of the performance . The audience s

addressing them directly. A colleague wrote after the show: I wasn t sure if you did want us to

The Experimental Side Of Documentary Practice
Introduction
This project aims to further develop the experimental side of documentary practice, with special focus
on ethnography. It will take the form of an experimental documentary juxtaposing enactments of the
past with depictions of the present, through a case study focusing on North Eastern Romanian villages,
engaging villagers into re enactments of traditional life from the past as method of documenting their
self reflection on the transition to the present.
The setting of the re enactments is based on the Romanian ballad The Little Ewe and more specifically
on the journey described in the Mihail Sadoveanu novel inspired by it, The Hatchet (1930). These two
texts are widely known in Romania having become compulsory reading material in schools as one of
the four fundamental myths of Romanians and a monographic representation of the Romanian village
and its customs respectively. The main themes of the two stories are transhumance and death, both
highlighting the traditions and the way of life of shepherding communities. Furthering the reasons for
this choice, these texts have become engrained into the collective consciousness of Romanian people
as to become an unconscious memory.
Its relevance within ethnographic practice is given by the documentation of the transition process from
traditional to modernity within the Romanian village, as well as its universal exploration of humans
facing change and their ways to adapt to it.
I will interrogate documentary practices

The Coldness Of Women In The Play Trifles By Susan Glaspell
At the beginning of the play, Trifles, a play by Susan Glaspell the characters enter the farmhouse of
John Wright and immediately rush to the stove for warmth. It is cold outside and inside the house
which immediately reflects the barren and rigid nature of the home and life of Mrs. Wright. Glaspell
uses the female characters in this play to demonstrate the harsh life of women in society during this
time period that was forgotten about and not taken seriously (Al Khalili, 132). The coldness of Mrs.
Wright s life was reflected in many ways throughout the play. First, through John Wright who was
described by Mrs. Hale as a hard man / Like a raw wind that gets to the bone. (Glaspel, line 113). John

A Secret Sorrow Short Story
In the story A Secret Sorrow by Karen Der Zee the main character Faye is having a man vs. himself
conflict. The conflict the story is having is a very common personal conflict many characters have
where they experience their selves being the root of their own problem. Faye is suffering with the
aftermath of how the car accident affected her very badly and her life would not really be how she
ever imagined with children of her own flesh and blood because it is revealed that Faye is unable to
reproduce and have kids. In result to her not being able to give birth Faye became fearful, insecure and
hopeless through out the story. In the story Faye was very fearful. Faye s desire to portray the life of a
women that was faced to comply with the roles set for them is what made her so scared that she would
never find love and that she would never be good enough. Though out the story Faye had a desire to
fit into a housewife stereotype where she would give up the ownership of her body belonging to not
only her but her husband. As Kai and, Faye spoke about the therapist and as to why Faye had to see
one when Kai asked things like Why did Doctor Martin want you to see a psychiatrist? and, asked her
why did she need therapy for where people who lose their significant other go through a less
predictable pattern of emotions such as depression, mourning and acceptance. In fear Faye quickly got

Relationship Between The Live Event And The Document...
This paper will explore a range of perspectives on the relationship between the live event and the
document within performance practice, specifically focus on in relation to body, time and space.
Performance art is commonly known as a performance presented to a viewer within a fine art context.
Through performance artists emphasize the body s role in artistic production. Historically,
performance archive has been characterized as an unfaithful representation of the momentary art
experience. Yet, in contemporary art the relationship between live performance practices and
documentation has progressed towards reconciliation. Whether, the performance is scripted or
unscripted, the performer s body is present or absent. Performance art can happen in any type of venue
and for any length of time. Documentation of performance practice documents the actions of an
individual or a group at a particular place and in a particular time.
A fascination with the human body, body were an experience that could somehow be held in common.
The ways in which we might experience the body as connected or represent it as disconnected in a live
performance. Shifting attention from traditional art object to the artist s physical action further
proposed that art existed in real space and real time. Marina Abramovic, a pioneer of performance art
began using her own body as the subject, object, and medium in the early 1970s as she said, In
performance my body is object and subject. For the exhibition

In 1997, chairman August Busch III vowed to make his company a leader in mining its customers
buying patterns. The key to Anheuser Busch s real time analysis of marketing effectiveness is timely
data: getting information back from wholesalers and retailers on what is selling where and when.
Wholesaler and store level data has become the lifeblood of our organization, said Joe Patti, Anheuser
s vice president for retail planning and category management. Therefore, Anheuser Busch created
BudNET to connect to wholesalers, retailers, and other Anheuser Busch business partners. The system
handies sales reporting, customer development, retail promotion notices, and weekly sales forecasting,
as well as a wide array of logistics related functions. BudNET is the information channel for an
Anheuser Busch system called WEARS (Wholesaler Equity Agreement Reporting System). Through
BudNET, the delivery people of the 700 U.S. distributors of Budweiser can become the eyes and ears
of the brewer. WEARS and BudNET do much more than just keep tabs on the flow of icy cold Bud off
retailers refrigerated shelves. Using portable transaction computers, the delivery people also log data
on competing products, identifying what else is on the retailers shelves. At the end of the day,
Anheuser Busch gets the data and looks for trends. If Anheuser Busch loses shelf space in a store in

Nonverbal Communication Involves The Processes Of Encoding...
Nonverbal communication involves the processes of encoding and decoding. Encoding is the act of
generating the information such as facial expressions, gestures, and postures. Decoding is the
interpretation of information from received sensations from previous experiences. Nonverbal
communication between people is communication through sending and receiving wordless cues.
It includes the use of visual cues such as body language, distance and physical
environments/appearance and of touch. It can also include chronemics and oculesics. Even eye contact
and the actions of looking while talking and listening, frequency of glances, patterns of fixation, pupil
dilation, and of course blink rate.
Just as speech contains nonverbal elements known as paralanguage, including voice quality, rate,
pitch, volume, and speaking style, as well as prosodic features such as rhythm, intonation, and stress,
so written texts have nonverbal elements such as handwriting style, spatial arrangement of words, or
the physical layout of a page. However, much of the study of nonverbal communication has focused
on interaction between individuals, where it can be classified into three principal areas: environmental
conditions where communication takes place, physical characteristics of the communicators, and
behaviors of communicators during interaction. Only a small percentage of the brain processes verbal
communication. As infants, nonverbal communication is learned from social emotional
communication,

functionalism
Functionalism has given a useful understanding of society, despite its limitations. Functionalists
describe society using an organic analogy; they say society is like a biological organism. Parsons
found three similarities between society and an organism. System organisms such as the human body
and society are both self regulating and inter related, independent parts fit together in fixed ways. In
the body these are organs; in society they are institutions, such as family and education. Both
organisms have system needs for example an organism needs nutrition without which it would die.
Social systems have basic needs for example members of society need to be socialised. Both society
and organisms function to contribute to meeting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parsons describes adaption and goal attainment as instrumental needs, to the means to an end, such as
producing food to sustain the population. He describes integration and latency as expressive needs as
they involve channelling emotions. By carrying out their respective functions the four sub systems
ensure that society s needs are met and social stability maintained. Parsons identified two types of
society, traditional and modern. Each type has its own typical pattern of norms. Within each type the
variables fit together, for example in modern society students are expected to pursue their own self
interests, achieved status through efforts in education, attained through deferred gratification. They are
all judged by the universal standard of exams. Contrastingly in traditional society an individual s
status is ascribed at birth and they re expected to put their kinships interest before their own, called
collective orientation. Parsons argues change is a gradual, evolutionary process of increasing
complexity and structural differentiation. The organic analogy is relevant here. Organisms have
evolved from simple structures to complex organisms with different parts performing its own
specialised function. Similarly societies move from simple to complex structures. For example in
traditional society a single institution, the kinship system, performs many functions. It organises
production and consumption, provides political leadership, socialises members and

This essay will be about how the perspective of Roswell/UFO s have changed over time. How after

It could lead to different shocking outcomes that only the government could imagine. But of course
why, will first if someone is very religious, they can say there is now way one planet in billions of

does not want us to be scared or alarmed (THE UFO COVER UP). It s a very protective reason for the
world to not go into panic and havoc (The UFO COVER UP).Because of the reasonings, this shows
that aliens exist. For example. it s like hiding something that you know you ve done wrong but can t
hide. Giving new explanations and cover up proving it doesn t exist when all these occurrences have
already taken place. There s no way of hiding that the government is just blinding the public from
UFO s, making us worry about our own lives, and our own self belief. (The UFO COVER UP).
In conclusion, Roswell s incident has been proven that a UFO has crashed near this area. From why
the military had covered up this situation so quickly, with all the new sightings, evidence proving
aliens have been encountered with at Roswell. Also with the government secrecy, Area 51 being so
secretive, military never giving out word about aliens from all the occurrences that have taken. These
all gives reason for people to believe that aliens do exist. Proving that this incident might have been

Employee Empowerment in Flat Organizations
A flat organization is a culture of ownership and partnership, it is an organization that uses teams to
increase efficiency, responsiveness and flexibility. The focus is on customer satisfaction, work is
directly connected, to customer processes. Employees in a flat organization know the business, they
have been delegated the power to think for the whole company.
Flat organizations are giving lower management more responsibilities; they are expected to make

By lending structure, it facilitates the identification and resolution of problems that can arise during
the course of the decision making process. This facilitation in turn can assist in improving the group
decision making process. Group decision making is the process of arriving at a judgment based upon
the feedback of more than one individual. Group decision making is a key component to the
functioning of a Flat organization, because organizational performance involves more than just
individual action. Besides having good processes for decision making, employees need to realize that
the immediate managers are the key link to communication. Managers serve the organization by
creating understanding; managers are now coaches not bosses.
Managers need to develop listening skills so they can learn about their employees. Knowing their
employees will help the manager?s structure, motivate and delegate their team members. The
performance of the team relates directly to the performance of the manager. The performance of the
employees relates to their skills and knowledge, both which can be taught. When the manager knows
their employees they will know what skills and knowledge their employees possess. Knowing what
the employees lack, will allow the manager to conduct training and learning programs appropriately.
While the employee is gaining the knowledge he lacks, the manager can assign them jobs that will line
up with their strengths.

The Pros And Cons Of AI And AI
The phenomena of computers have most certainly become an indispensable part of everyday life and
have inevitably revolutionized the way in which we live. Although their presence is made visible in
the small everyday aspects of life, computers more often than not mark their presence in the fields of
mathematics and science, where numbers become the language in storing and working with vast
quantitative data and information. It can then be said that in crunching numbers and processing such
vast information, computers are able to exhibit forms of knowing and understanding. Does this mean
then, that due their ability to process such large amounts of data, computers are able to attain a degree
of knowledge and understanding which far surpasses the human mind? While there may be numerous
and varying views to this claim, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is true that some Al programs are more flexible, with recent innovations regarding abilities of

form of intelligence than that of a human s, as even if the AI is able to further evolve, it might not
necessarily mean that it would be able to gain the intelligence of an adult human. Human intelligence,
after all, cannot be defined by mere programming and algorithm. Thus, it could perhaps be said that
the AI lacks the ability to fully rationalize and reflect on its decisions. Therefore, as computers, and
ultimately AI are designed and programmed in a systematic way, they are in a sense still not fully

Scene Analysis of The Green Mile Essay
The film The Green Mile was originally written by Stephen King and later directed by Frank
Darabont. It is based on the guards and inmates of a penitentiary s Death Row during the great
depression. There is a certain monotony that comes with working on Death Row and Paul Edgecomb,
played by Tom Hanks, has become numb to the fact that he is paid to take lives; that is until John
Coffey gets sentenced to death and is sent to Paul s green mile . John Coffey is a very large black man
that was accused of rape and murder of two little girls, and in the 1930 s having charges like that

they were all covered in dust. Just that screen shot of the two elderly people juxtaposed together to
create a composition that plays off of each other is very powerful in itself. The book The Philosophy

Real Estate Investing Research Paper
To many people, real estate investing sounds like an old man s game. It s not something the average
person gets involved in and it s difficult to do. Well, all of these statements are complete myths. More
people are learning the value of buying and holding on to real estate as an investment. It is certainly
not a venture reserved for old people either. College students who are wise with the money, have been
known to buy a property and start collecting rental income before they walk across the stage with their
degree. With determination, savvy and wisdom, anyone can and should invest in real estate. Consider
these four reasons:

Once you purchase a property and become a landlord, there will be times that tenants will need help
with maintenance issues, but the income is consistent and reliable. It is one of the most sure fire
businesses to invest in because people will always need a place to stay and call home. Owning several
homes and renting them out to various tenants will allow you to pay off those properties quickly and
then continue to enjoy the cash flow.
3. Builds Assets
It is important to have assets outside of an income from a singular job. When you invest in real estate,
you simultaneously increase your net worth. Net worth is very helpful and important especially if you
are trying to leave a legacy. If you d like to leave money to your children and grand children, real
estate is one of the best ways to do this. They can decide to keep the properties and continue renting
them out for cash flow. Or they can sell the properties for one large, lump sum and invest that money
in another way. It s not always about how much money you have but it s also about building assets and
creating wealth.
4. Tax Benefits
Taxes are one of the main things people hate to pay. However, as a real estate investor, you can do a

seems that, as a society, we should be striving to attain the optimal status of food production and
preparation we have done so for years, through technological advances in refrigeration, storage, and

economical aspects of the food consumer market by decreasing the overall cost of food production,
genetically modified species are beneficial to the environment in which they are raised. According to

of the damage already caused. Research is underway to create plants that can grow in these damaged
lands and provide nutrients and life to the seemingly deadened soil. Finally, among the benefits of

Analysis Of Stephen Ambrose s Band Of Brothers
Regardless of where they were dropped, many of the American paratroopers grouped with whomever
they found, often times finding soldiers from different squads or companies than their own. This was
especially the case for the 101st airborne as they were the most scattered of the three Allied airborne
divisions. An example of this is portrayed in Stephen Ambrose s Band of Brothers and is based off the
real events of June 6, 1944. Lieutenant Richard Winters landed off course somewhere west of Ste
Mère Eglise when his assigned landing zone was actually southeast of the French village. He
regrouped with twelve friendlies, both from his squad and not, on the way southeast and led them
towards four artillery guns. The guns were firing on the beaches and were doing damage to the men on
the beachhead. Lt. Winters received orders from his commanding officer to take the guns out with
whatever men he could. The attack was a unique example of a small, well led assault force
overcoming and routing a much larger force. It was the high morale of Easy Company men, the
quickness and audacity of the frontal attack, and the fire into their positions from different directions
that demoralized the German forces and convinced them that they were being hit by a much larger
force, said squad member Sergeant Carwood Lipton. By making the Germans think that they were
being attacked by a larger force, Lt. Winters s strike team and other American airborne units were able
to draw attention away from the beach while still holding their own. The British 6th airborne division
was tasked with the important duty of protecting the eastern flank of the beach invasion by capturing
bridges on the Orne river and the Caen Canal and destroying five bridges East of the Orne. The British
dropped much more accurately than their American counterparts as they had been training for two
years for objectives that were almost identical to the one they were assigned to. It was the increased
accuracy of their airborne drops that let them suffer less casualties than their American counterparts.
While they were more accurate with their droppings, it still took some time for the paratroopers to
regroup safely with one another. The British deployed both their

Stonehenge Vs. Easter Island
Stonehenge vs. Easter Island Stonehenge and Easter Island are two very old and interesting mysteries
and monuments of the world. Stonehenge is outside of Salisbury, England and is consists of lots of
grass and giant, grey stones. This site was made between the times of 1520 B.C.E 3000 B.C.E. There
are many reasons why people think Stonehenge was built. Stonehenge was built it using precise stages
of construction. Archaeologists said it could have been used for rituals, traditions or even used as a
burial site. Easter Island, itself is off the coast of Chile. The Easter Island statues or Moai as called on
the Island are big black rocks with long slim faces. The statues seemed to have been used in many
different ways such as rituals, worshipping and traditions. While the Easter Island statues were used
for worshipping and were carved and then moved, Stonehenge may have been used as a burial site or
for ritualistic traditions and was made in different stages in one place. Stonehenge is complex yet,
simple place. The name Stonehenge comes from the name Stonehengen meaning stone hanging or
gallows. Stonehenge was believed to have been created during 3000 1520 B.C.E. This was during the
Neolithic period and Bronze age. The people who created Stonehenge were very advanced. By the
time came to make Stonehenge the Mesolithic and Neolithic people already found a spot that was

How Discipline Is Not Easy
Discipline has always been, to me, a thought of growing in yourself or in this case growing in your
relationship with Christ. Discipline is not easy, in fact, it is hard, but the results are what we discipline
ourselves for. Celebration of Discipline was a very eye opening and insightful book in many aspects.
Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality. Meaning, the inner
and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to describe fasting, prayer,
worship, and even celebration. When Jesus spoke of spiritual discipline, he hardly gives instruction of
how to discipline ourselves spiritually. This book book gives more of an outline/guidance to types of
disciplines that could help you in your spiritual journey. There are three types of disciplines discussed
in this book, along with many sub categories within each type. All these groups are used to help one
form a more well rounded spiritual life. The types are inward, outward, and corporate discipline.
Inward discipline is a type of discipline that focuses on your inner self/spiritual life. This involves
things like praying, meditation, fasting, and studying. Outward disciple is more of what you can do as
an individual to discipline yourself spiritually, such as simplicity, solitude, submission, and service.
These are still self centered but more focused on the outside actions rather than the inside actions.
Finally, we have the corporate discipline. This

Business Opportunities, Challenges, And Trends Essay
4. Discuss the business opportunities, challenges, and trends prevailing in the Indian ecommerce
market.
The business opportunity for eBay as of right now is not great although there is a lot of potential
growth in the future. In 2014, the Indian ecommerce industry showed a tremendous growth. This
growth is driven by the rapid adoption of technology such as smartphones and tablets (ecommerce in
India Accelerating growth, 2015). There are opportunities for eBay to expand its market and invest
more in the future. But there are also their competitions that they need to worry about. A company like
Amazon is a well known international online shopping superstore where you can buy almost
everything. There are Flipkart and Snapdeal that started their online store in India. eBay is losing its
battle with their competition. For example, eBay Inc. pumped in about `650 crore into the India
business last year. In comparison, Flipkart raised about $1.4 billion from institutional investors in the
last 13 months, while Snapdeal mopped up $1.1 billion in about the same time. Amazon also
announced in that the company will pump in $2 billion into India. Amazon has infused `2,437 crore
into its India arm. (live mint, 2016). Although eBay is not making as much revenue as they wanted the
future generation in India will become more online. The Indian youth will dominate the county s 130

Compare The Passionate Shepherd To His Love
Renaissance poet Marlowe, within The Passionate Shepherd to his Love, and the Restoration poet
Marvell, within To His Coy Mistress, present love as a necessity. Despite the differing contexts, with
their incompatible ethical and moral attitudes, they still concern themselves with the same
fundamental idea that men will assert their patriarchal dominance onto women in order to have sex.
By focussing on the tone of the two poems one can draw similarities within how the male imperative
and female reluctance mirrors the social context of time and religious morality. Marlowe evokes this
message through the utilisation of the hyperbolic use of the possessive pronoun my in accordance with
imperatives; Come live with me and be my love, / And we will all the pleasures prove . ... Show more

Unlike Shakespeare, who wrote romance, Marlowe is attempting to create passion and the half rhyme
depicts this passion. At times, the person will not understand the desire and it will just simply be there
and come to fruition through chance. The line further allows for this female subservience to the man
with the possessive pronoun my depicting that she is the man s property and the lack of identity to the
woman throughout the poem reiterates this point of view that the male has to assert his dominance
through the manifestation of every materialistic aspect of life. The utilisation of my love is paradoxical

In today s society, the rush of supply and demand runs the ever living world that many people call

most will never see. To understand this mountain and incorporate a successful plan, society needs to
understand how this mountain was built. It begins with a covering known as economics that leads to a
multitude root system known as microeconomics only to be fed by the morsels of supply and demand.

The Internet has also changed the way students learn. Online classes are more readily available
compared to several years ago. By means of online classes more adult students pursuing higher
education are able to make that dream become a reality. Students attending online classes offer
different viewpoints with fellow students and are able to communicate without feeling that a correct
answer needs to be given.
Of course the Internet brings lots of competition among retailers, which affects the supply conditions
within an industry. Companies overseas are able to place their products on the net, which in return
expands their market, and therefore sell to a larger area this causes force of lower prices and creates a
greater incentive for sellers to set apart their products or services.
The article emphasized on how changes in information technology can influence supply conditions in
the market with the following example, Encyclopedia Britannica. Encyclopedia Britannica at one
point was a very expensive set of research books that parents would purchase to help their child s
education, however now with the internet available with many free online encyclopedias, Britannica
has had to market their product other ways. They now have a CD ROM available, which contains
things such as video clips, audio clips, and pictures. This new Britannica format is less expensive as
the books.
The Internet offers so many different things to many different people.

depth look at the slavery existence in the state of Texas. He provides the factors that explain the
establishment and growth of slavery. Campbell also explains the economic and legal institution of
Texas, and explores the physical and psychological effects of both slaves and their masters prior to the
Civil War, during, and after emancipation. Campbell provides clear detail of slavery s impact on Texas
slaveholders and society, and how the Civil war affected slavery prior to its destruction. Slavery came

He provides unique insight and depth which is hard to refute because of the laws that allowed slavery
to exist. In January of 1824, Stephan F. Austin issued the Criminal Regulations, which provided Texas
with its first slave code. The Criminal Regulations seemed to be the basis for the first codified slave
code in 1836. The code involved five essential principles which allowed for slavery to exist in Texas.
These principles included the right to own slaves, criminal conduct regarding slaves, the law afforded
to the slaves, slave escapees, and free blacks respectively. With the Constitution of 1845, slave law
had matured into an extensive system dedicated to the management of slavery. The extent of the laws
by 1845 toward slavery were so vast it is hard to dispute the point that slavery was not a vital aspect in
Texan life. Under the law, slaves were still afforded certain privileges that would allow them to gain a
measure of responsibility. Campbell brings up the many responsibilities that slaves in Texas have in
chapter 6. He states that a vast majority of slaves work in the fields, while around 30% of the slave
population work in the towns and as cooks and butlers. He also brings up several instances where
skilled slaves hired themselves out to make money using their skills as carpenters or blacksmiths.
Campbell s provides a unique look into slavery that most author s do not convey. Slavery in Texas,

Effect Of Bracing Or Surgical Treatments On Balance Control
Effect of Bracing or Surgical Treatments on Balance Control in Idiopathic Scoliosis: Three Case
Studies In adolescents, scoliosis is the most frequent spinal deformity. About 80 percent of scoliosis
cases are idiopathic, meaning there is no known cause, although some believe that impairment in the
sensory processing could be the cause. The purpose of this particular study is to see if orthopedic
treatments can help people who have scoliosis have more balance control. It can be infantile (birth to
three years), juvenile (two to ten years old), and degenerative (adulthood) scoliosis. The kind of
scoliosis is determined based on the age of when someone is diagnosed. Scoliosis is detected when
biomarkers are used to predict deformation of the spine or a progression risk. Scoliosis can be caused
by one of six ways. It can be genetic, neurological, hormonal and metabolic, skeletal growth,
biomechanical, and environmental. Three studies were done with one person per case. Case one was to
see the effect of spine surgery and the control of the person s balance. Case two was to see the effect
of bracing on balance control. Case three was to see the effect of spine surgery in adult s balance
control. In the first case, a 17 year old male had a surgery that consisted of reducing the curves and
vertebrae rotations using transpedicular screws. Eighteen months after surgery, the curve of his spine

Theories Of Sales Promotion
CHAPTER3
THEORETICAL
BACKGROUND
Rapid Growth of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion tools are used by most organizations, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers,
and not for profit institutions. They are targeted toward final buyers (consumer promotions), retailers
and wholesalers (trade promotion). Today, in the average consumer packaged company, sales
promotion accounts for 74 percent of all marketing expenditures. Several factors have contributed to
the rapid growth of sales promotion, particularly in consumer market. First, inside the company
manager face greater pressures to increase their current sales, and promotion is viewed as an effective
short run sales tool. Second, externally, the company faces more competition and competing brands
are less differentiated. Increasingly efficiency has declined because of rising costs, media clutter, and
legal restraints. Finally, consumers have become more deal oriented, and ever larger retailers are
demanding more deals from manufacture. In developing a sales promotion program, a company must
first set sales promotion objectives and then select the best tools for accomplishing these objectives.
Objectives of Sales promotion:

In the stories, The Tell Tale Heart , The Black Cat , and The Cask of Amontillado two of the stories
have unnamed narrators with one friend that has a named narrator that tell their point of view. But,
many of them are unreliable narrators and we cannot always trust what they say and think of other

In The Tell Tale Heart the narrator is a young male that is taking care of an old man by living with him

The Old Testament And New Testament
The names Old Testament and New Testament are inherently theological in nature. Because there is a
difference distinctly built into giving them different notations, it implies that there are differences
between each the Old Testament and the New Testament, whether it is subtle in nature or obvious in
nature. To Christians, the difference means that the Old Testament contains dealings between God and
the world and even some of the rules made are made irrelevant by the interactions of Christ Jesus with
the world. One of the differences between the New Testament and the Old Testament is the way each
of the Testaments describe God and God s nature. The Old Testament describes an angry God, one
who only created the world and was obsessed with laws and rules. The New Testament describes a
loving God who redeemed the world. The different ways the Old Testament and New Testament
describe God and his nature are very much influenced by their perspective of God. By the rules,
actions, and laws God made, the early writers of the Old Testament made their judgements about God
and wrote those perspectives into the books of the Old Testament. The writers of the Old Testament
did the best they could with the information they had and got some things about God right, but also
got things wrong. The writers of the New Testament and therefore, Christian believers understand God
better. The New Testament and the Old Testament are similar in that they both speak of fulfillment for

Colonial Empires Of The New World
Colonial Empires of the New World
Lea A Bradford

4th Period Abstract
In my paper I will be discussing the different colonies in the new world. I will talk about the main
settlers in the new world including; the Europeans, the Spanish, the Dutch, the French. How these
settlers interact will be the main topic of my report. I will also discuss the effect these settlers had on
the Indians that lived in the territories they claimed.
Empires and Colonies in the New World The first foreign settlers that came to the new world were the
Spanish. Many countries seeked trade with Asia but had to go around the tip of Africa to get there. In
1492 the king of Spain at the time King Ferdinand funded the voyage of a Christopher Columbus to
sail across the ocean to find a better rout than what was being currently used. While he never set foot
in North America he opened the door for English exploration.
By the time the English made it over to the new world the Spanish had already explored a lot of North
America and encountered three major groups of peoples; the Incans in present day Peru, and the
Mayans and Aztecs in present day Mexico and South America. With their exploration they found
wealth in the form of gold and silver. They brought guns, horses, and armor that made the local
peoples view them as gods. But along with foreign technologies they brought illness. Smallpox,
influenza, malaria, measles, typhus and syphilis were transported to the

  • 2. The Ethics Of Being Earnest Essay As I understood, The Importance of Being Earnest is on the ethics of the British high society, and it utilizes comedic drama to do so. For instance, the use of comedy taunts the measures to which the high society holds themselves. The gentry had faith in orchestrated relational unions, unions between families to contain the riches among the few. Moms searched out courteous fellows of that particular high society quality for their sensitive little girls. Woman Bracknell solicits a number from questions that she accepts are fundamental for a decent spouse for her little girl: what is his pay, how old is he, where does he live, what are his governmental issues. The most vital inquiry, in any case, is who is his family, on the grounds that the family name is what is imperative in an enduring marriage among the high society. Wilde, be that as it may, spoofs the circumstance, as Jack does not have a family. Jack originated from a to some degree substantial, dark calfskin purse, with handles on it, rather than having guardians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cecily, Jack s ward, herself accidentally derides the establishment of marriage, whimsically making an anecdotal storyline based off of the books of the period. In her journal (diary), she composes of her engagement to Earnest, after a few breakups and her own buy of a ring for him to give her, since that is normal in a sentiment. Through Cecily s defined engagement, I studied the detail of the high society, that as opposed to honing German or finding out about financial aspects, the privileged wastes away their opportunity ... To make matters worse, Puerto Rican women were used like lab rats. They were blamed for the poverty that existed, In 1937, the government passed Law 116, which allowed permanent sterilization, here in the United States and Puerto Rico as well. It was intended to control the rapid growth in population and unemployment. They called this, la operacion (Colon Ortega, 1998). Many women were deceived in getting tubal ligation, hysterectomy, birth control pill, EMKO, IUD and Depo Shots, not knowing the procedures, side effects or that the changes could be permanent (Colon Ortega, 1998). ... There is a increase in the amount of restrictions and laws put on Christians and their Human Rights in other Countries with more Government leaders putting guidelines on other religions and not liking the freedoms that the people in the western Countries have, like the United States. It will take the form of an experimental documentary juxtaposing enactments of the past with depictions of the present, through a case study focusing on North Eastern Romanian villages, engaging villagers into re enactments of traditional life from the past as method of documenting their self reflection on the transition to the present. The setting of the re enactments is based on the Romanian ballad The Little Ewe and more specifically on the journey described in the Mihail Sadoveanu novel inspired by it, The Hatchet (1930). These two texts are widely known in Romania having become compulsory reading material in schools as one of the four fundamental myths of Romanians and a monographic representation of the Romanian village and its customs respectively. The main themes of the two stories are transhumance and death, both highlighting the traditions and the way of life of shepherding communities. Furthering the reasons for this choice, these texts have become engrained into the collective consciousness of Romanian people as to become an unconscious memory. Its relevance within ethnographic practice is given by the documentation of the transition process from traditional to modernity within the Romanian village, as well as its universal exploration of humans facing change and their ways to adapt to it. I will interrogate documentary practices ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper will explore a range of perspectives on the relationship between the live event and the document within performance practice, specifically focus on in relation to body, time and space. Performance art is commonly known as a performance presented to a viewer within a fine art context. Through performance artists emphasize the body s role in artistic production. Historically, performance archive has been characterized as an unfaithful representation of the momentary art experience. Yet, in contemporary art the relationship between live performance practices and documentation has progressed towards reconciliation. Whether, the performance is scripted or unscripted, the performer s body is present or absent. Performance art can happen in any type of venue and for any length of time. Documentation of performance practice documents the actions of an individual or a group at a particular place and in a particular time. A fascination with the human body, body were an experience that could somehow be held in common. The ways in which we might experience the body as connected or represent it as disconnected in a live performance. Shifting attention from traditional art object to the artist s physical action further proposed that art existed in real space and real time. • 13. Nonverbal Communication Involves The Processes Of Encoding... Nonverbal communication involves the processes of encoding and decoding. Encoding is the act of generating the information such as facial expressions, gestures, and postures. Decoding is the interpretation of information from received sensations from previous experiences. Nonverbal communication between people is communication through sending and receiving wordless cues. It includes the use of visual cues such as body language, distance and physical environments/appearance and of touch. It can also include chronemics and oculesics. Even eye contact and the actions of looking while talking and listening, frequency of glances, patterns of fixation, pupil dilation, and of course blink rate. Just as speech contains nonverbal elements known as paralanguage, including voice quality, rate, pitch, volume, and speaking style, as well as prosodic features such as rhythm, intonation, and stress, so written texts have nonverbal elements such as handwriting style, spatial arrangement of words, or the physical layout of a page. However, much of the study of nonverbal communication has focused on interaction between individuals, where it can be classified into three principal areas: environmental conditions where communication takes place, physical characteristics of the communicators, and behaviors of communicators during interaction. Only a small percentage of the brain processes verbal communication. As infants, nonverbal communication is learned from social emotional communication, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. functionalism Functionalism has given a useful understanding of society, despite its limitations. Functionalists describe society using an organic analogy; they say society is like a biological organism. Parsons found three similarities between society and an organism. System organisms such as the human body and society are both self regulating and inter related, independent parts fit together in fixed ways. In the body these are organs; in society they are institutions, such as family and education. Both organisms have system needs for example an organism needs nutrition without which it would die. Social systems have basic needs for example members of society need to be socialised. Both society and organisms function to contribute to meeting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parsons describes adaption and goal attainment as instrumental needs, to the means to an end, such as producing food to sustain the population. He describes integration and latency as expressive needs as they involve channelling emotions. By carrying out their respective functions the four sub systems ensure that society s needs are met and social stability maintained. Parsons identified two types of society, traditional and modern. Each type has its own typical pattern of norms. Within each type the variables fit together, for example in modern society students are expected to pursue their own self interests, achieved status through efforts in education, attained through deferred gratification. They are all judged by the universal standard of exams. Contrastingly in traditional society an individual s status is ascribed at birth and they re expected to put their kinships interest before their own, called collective orientation. Parsons argues change is a gradual, evolutionary process of increasing complexity and structural differentiation. The organic analogy is relevant here. Organisms have evolved from simple structures to complex organisms with different parts performing its own specialised function. Similarly societies move from simple to complex structures. For example in traditional society a single institution, the kinship system, performs many functions. It organises production and consumption, provides political leadership, socialises members and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Stephen Ambrose s Band Of Brothers Regardless of where they were dropped, many of the American paratroopers grouped with whomever they found, often times finding soldiers from different squads or companies than their own. This was especially the case for the 101st airborne as they were the most scattered of the three Allied airborne divisions. An example of this is portrayed in Stephen Ambrose s Band of Brothers and is based off the real events of June 6, 1944. Lieutenant Richard Winters landed off course somewhere west of Ste Mère Eglise when his assigned landing zone was actually southeast of the French village. He regrouped with twelve friendlies, both from his squad and not, on the way southeast and led them towards four artillery guns. The guns were firing on the beaches and were doing damage to the men on the beachhead. Lt. Winters received orders from his commanding officer to take the guns out with whatever men he could. The attack was a unique example of a small, well led assault force overcoming and routing a much larger force. It was the high morale of Easy Company men, the quickness and audacity of the frontal attack, and the fire into their positions from different directions that demoralized the German forces and convinced them that they were being hit by a much larger force, said squad member Sergeant Carwood Lipton. By making the Germans think that they were being attacked by a larger force, Lt. Winters s strike team and other American airborne units were able to draw attention away from the beach while still holding their own. The British 6th airborne division was tasked with the important duty of protecting the eastern flank of the beach invasion by capturing bridges on the Orne river and the Caen Canal and destroying five bridges East of the Orne. The British dropped much more accurately than their American counterparts as they had been training for two years for objectives that were almost identical to the one they were assigned to. It was the increased accuracy of their airborne drops that let them suffer less casualties than their American counterparts. While they were more accurate with their droppings, it still took some time for the paratroopers to regroup safely with one another. The British deployed both their ... Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality. Meaning, the inner and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to describe fasting, prayer, worship, and even celebration. When Jesus spoke of spiritual discipline, he hardly gives instruction of how to discipline ourselves spiritually. Austin issued the Criminal Regulations, which provided Texas with its first slave code. The Criminal Regulations seemed to be the basis for the first codified slave code in 1836. The code involved five essential principles which allowed for slavery to exist in Texas. These principles included the right to own slaves, criminal conduct regarding slaves, the law afforded to the slaves, slave escapees, and free blacks respectively. With the Constitution of 1845, slave law had matured into an extensive system dedicated to the management of slavery. The extent of the laws by 1845 toward slavery were so vast it is hard to dispute the point that slavery was not a vital aspect in Texan life. Under the law, slaves were still afforded certain privileges that would allow them to gain a measure of responsibility. Campbell brings up the many responsibilities that slaves in Texas have in chapter 6. He states that a vast majority of slaves work in the fields, while around 30% of the slave population work in the towns and as cooks and butlers. • 40. The Old Testament And New Testament The names Old Testament and New Testament are inherently theological in nature. Because there is a difference distinctly built into giving them different notations, it implies that there are differences between each the Old Testament and the New Testament, whether it is subtle in nature or obvious in nature. To Christians, the difference means that the Old Testament contains dealings between God and the world and even some of the rules made are made irrelevant by the interactions of Christ Jesus with the world. One of the differences between the New Testament and the Old Testament is the way each of the Testaments describe God and God s nature. The Old Testament describes an angry God, one who only created the world and was obsessed with laws and rules. The New Testament describes a loving God who redeemed the world. The different ways the Old Testament and New Testament describe God and his nature are very much influenced by their perspective of God. By the rules, actions, and laws God made, the early writers of the Old Testament made their judgements about God and wrote those perspectives into the books of the Old Testament. The writers of the Old Testament did the best they could with the information they had and got some things about God right, but also got things wrong. The writers of the New Testament and therefore, Christian believers understand God better. The New Testament and the Old Testament are similar in that they both speak of fulfillment for God s ... I will talk about the main settlers in the new world including; the Europeans, the Spanish, the Dutch, the French. How these settlers interact will be the main topic of my report. I will also discuss the effect these settlers had on the Indians that lived in the territories they claimed. Empires and Colonies in the New World The first foreign settlers that came to the new world were the Spanish. Many countries seeked trade with Asia but had to go around the tip of Africa to get there. In 1492 the king of Spain at the time King Ferdinand funded the voyage of a Christopher Columbus to sail across the ocean to find a better rout than what was being currently used. While he never set foot in North America he opened the door for English exploration. By the time the English made it over to the new world the Spanish had already explored a lot of North America and encountered three major groups of peoples; the Incans in present day Peru, and the Mayans and Aztecs in present day Mexico and South America. With their exploration they found wealth in the form of gold and silver. They brought guns, horses, and armor that made the local peoples view them as gods.
