Napoleon the Leader
Eagle Success
Napoleon The Leader
I chose Napoleon Bonaparte for my report for being an outstanding emperor and officer for the
French. Even though he was very short, at the height of only 5 3 , he showed that size doesn t
matter and had his wide range of accomplishments support his thought. One of his more famous
achievements was him developing The Napoleonic Code or Civil Code. The Napoleonic Code or
Code Civil still forms the basis of French civil law. Another one of his amazing was escaping from
certain death and returning to emperor for his last 100 days.
Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15,1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. He was the fourth child
out of a total of 7 brothers and sisters. His parents were Carlo Buonaparte and Letizia Buonaparte.
His father was a Corsican lawyer and his mother was a stay at home mom that had a very strict and
down to earth view on all things. Then once Napoleon had turned nine, his father sent him to a
French military academy. At the age of 16 he had finally joined the French army.
Just recently introduced into the French military he was commissioned as an artillery officer, this
was only after 1 year of training. His first assignment as an artillery officer was to capture Fort
Mulgrave. His successful capture promoted him to Brigadier General in December 1793. Shortly
after his promotion he was tried for treason against his country. He was later released for lack of
evidence and returned to command an artillery unit on the Italian

Comparing The 1971 White Paper On Defence And The 2008...
The purpose of this paper is to compare the 1971 White Paper on Defence and the 2008 Canada
First Defence Strategy. More specifically, this paper will compare the strategic environment,
Canada s greatest allies, the alliances Canada supported, and Canada s security and defence
priorities in the 1970s and under the CanadaFirst Defence Strategy (CFDS). As this paper will
demonstrate, the key differences witnessed in the 1971 White Paper on Defence and in the 2008
Canada First Defence Strategy is in terms of the specificities of the foreign and defence policy
presented, the perceived types of threats to national and international security, and the Canadian
Forces capability to respond to such major challenges. However, both the 1971 White Paper and the
2008 CFDS clearly demonstrate that the Canadian Forces are there first to defend Canada and
Canadians, then to defend North America in cooperation with the United States, and finally to
contribute to international security. Furthermore, both papers emphasize on the importance of
defence policy in achieving foreign policy objectives.
Global Strategic Environment
When assessing the global strategic environment, the major changes between 1971 and now is the
types of perceived threats to national and international security. In 1971, when the White Paper on
Defence was released, the world was dominated by the United States and the USSR, and there was
a consensus that the major threat Canada feared the most was a nuclear war

Speech On Street Food In Mumbai
Welcome to the land of words, where taking you on this journey of street food is going to leave
you hungry and definitely as excited as Pavlov s saliverating dog.
In this city the languages you don t speak are the cuisines you eat. If you must summarise the
diversity of street food in mumbai it could be something like; Dhansaks living next to the Dhoklas,
and the dhoklas living next to the dosas, and the dosas living next to the parathas, biryanis,
manchurians, which is living next to the original fish curry. Focusing on the history of food in
mumbai for a second takes us to the fishermen and fisherwomen. What was on their plate was quite
straightforward and simple, they helped themselves to fish curry and and rice with a portion of

CJ Mclaine s Deli and Bakery, LLC, a family claimed little business endeavor, worked in the town
of Evergreen, Colorado. The Italian style shop and pastry kitchen concentrated basically on its
lunch business additionally offered a restricted breakfast menu, a supper takeout menu, and general
providing food administrations. The businesswas propelled in 2004 and increased noteworthy energy
in its first year of operation (Giapponi, C.McDevitt, 2014). This starting achievement energized the
family managers. Amid its second year, on the other hand, changes in the aggressive environment
and a financial retreat made new impediments that influenced the business and primary concern. To
a degree demoralized, the managers perceived that key plan B must be considered if the business
was to survive. The case shows the trouble of beginning a business and maintaining its development
and force. It highlights the weakness of the little business to changes in the macro environment,
particularly changes in financial variables, and changes identified with industry and aggressive

Causes And Effects Of Video Games
1 LastName Name Course Professor 5 December 2017 Video Game Addiction and Its Harmful
Effects Playing video games is a pastime that many children enjoy. It has been found that
National surveys of American youth ages 8 to 18 by the Kaiser Family Foundation ... found that
in 2005, 49% of children had a game console in their bedroom (Olson et al. 55). From this
information, it can be assumed that after school about half of the children come home and start
playing video games. The duration of time that children play these video games varies. In recent
times it is estimated that, ...adolescent girls played video games for an average of 5 h a week
whereas boys averaged 13 h a week. (Gentile et al. 5). Gaming, therefore, has become more than
just a fun activity, it has become an addiction. Addiction can be defined as ... with an
uncontrollable urge, often accompanied by a loss of control, a preoccupation with use, and a
desire to continue with the activity even though it creates problems (Skoric et al. 568). These
children feel the need to play video games, and it is taking over their lives. This addiction to video
games impacts many aspects of a child s life. As a result of this addiction, video games cause
difficulties at school, detrimental impact to relationships and teenage development. There has been
a link between poor school performance and difficulties at school with high usage of video games.
It has been reported that, ...high school students who report spending more time

The Meditation Health Benefits Of The World
Mediation is an ancient method that practices deep concentration of the mind and it has recently
made its way back into our modern society. By participating in the age old activity one opens their
mental and physical wellbeing to multiple benefits. It did to my mind what going to the gym did to
my body said Dr. Hedy Kober, a neuroscientist who studies the effects of meditation, it made it both
stronger and more flexible. (Meditation Health Benefits). Meditation is a practice that may train
one s mindto be at a state of consciousness and wholeness. Throughout history Buddhist monks and
other eastern religions have been utilizing this practice for religious purposes, however recently
individuals have been testing it out for themselves. One does not have to mediate for religious
purposes, this phnaoman can be used to lower stress levels, cure anxietyand panic disorders, learn to
handle stressful situations better, and help to control anxiety, sharpen one s mind, improve memory
and critical thinking and reverse depression. The Buddhist religion is what shined the light on the
process of mediation from the start. Buddha, the head of the Buddhist religion, first began to spread
his teachings in 500 B.C (Iml.jou.ufl.edu). His teachings did not begin to educate the rest of the
world until the mid 20th century (Iml.jou.ulf.edu). After Buddha s teachings became more
widespread other religions begun to incorporate different forms of mediation into their own
teachings as well

Character Analysis Of Mae Holland In The Circle
Mae Holland is an ambitious, intelligent young woman and the main character in Dave Eggers
novel The Circle. Although her character is paramount to telling the novel s main story (detailing
the prominence of the monopolistic, power hungry tech company known as The Circle ), she is
hardly a protagonist, with her being ill informed at best at the book s beginning, and complicit in
the Circles nefarious doings by the novel s conclusion. Mae is an exceptionally bland character
who offers little interesting internal dialogue and who s only notable overarching character trait
is her ever present insecurity and her need to please others. Arguably, it could be said that Mae
truly is not the main character of The Circle at all; Rather The Circle company itself, or more
precisely Mae s relationship with the The Circle (and by association its dystopian philosophies)
are what take center stage. As a character, Mae is malleable; a clean slate waiting to take orders
and eager to agree with her superiors, she yearns for attention from others, is figuratively trapped
inside The Circle s elaborate campus, and acts as a mouthpiece for the The Circle s leaders;
repeating whatever they want her to say. Due to the fact that Mae Holland possess these
characteristics, she is comparable to a parrot.
The same way a parrot enters its cage with a blank mind, devoid of any calls or phrases, Mae
approaches her job at The Circle with an open mind, not influenced by any previous work
experiences. When thinking of the occupation she previously held prior to working at The
Circle, Mae expresses extreme discontent. Her final day at the public utility in her hometown
had been only three weeks ago they d been stupefied when she gave notice but it already seemed
impossible that she wasted so much of her life there. Good riddance, Mae thought, to that gulag
and all it represented (pg 4). The passage above indicates that Mae loathed her previous job,
considering it a waist of her life and likening it to a gulag . This shows that Mae felt little passion
or allegiance to her old job, and thus approaches her new job at The Circle with a blank mind, not
considering her previous experiences valuable to her in any way.

The European Union And The Treaty Of Western And Eastern...
On January 1st 2007 while the world was celebrating New Year s Day, twenty five state members
of the European Union (EU) welcomed almost 30 million people from Romania and Bulgaria to the
union. Massive celebrations were held in Romania and Bulgaria to mark this accession. This
historic event also marked the fifth enlargement of the EU and the peaceful reunification of Western
and Eastern European countries since the end of the Cold War. The path to membership was long
and sometimes challenging but in the end these two countries arrived to the road of Europe and
the future. Romania has been searching integration since the times of Nicolae Ceausescu (and
even before). Historical evidence demonstrated that Romania did not want to remain only part
of the Warsaw Pact or the Soviet Block. It has always been in pursuit of a greater role in the
world and in Europe, but in order to become part of the EU several reforms were needed. The
cost of gaining access to the EU was high but in the end Romania and the EU would benefit of
this mutual relation, especially in areas of defense, security, economy, energy and technology. The
aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of the EU accession on the economy and society in
Romania. Chronological and comparative analysis of pre EU membership and post membership
are used to assess if the accession has been positive or negative.

An Analysis Of Anne Rice s Interview With The Vampire
Good and evil each have multiple definitions and could be used to refer to many different situations
involving people, ideas, products, or places. Depending on which situation someone is referring to,
the definition of the term that is used will be altered slightly in order for people to understand the
severity of the situation. According to the Mirriam Webster dictionary, evil
is defined as immorally
reprehensible . This definition would typically be used to describe an action or a feeling that a
person possesses which are hateful or sinful. This definition of evil would be the perfect definition
to describe the main characters in Anne Rice s Interview With the Vampire
. The three main
characters are vampires who spend their time trying to conceal their urges to bite people s neck an
suck their blood until death has almost fallen upon them, but never until death actually occurs.
Louis, Lestat, and Claudia struggle throughout the novel to suppress their urges to killand battle
with their evil desires. Lestat is the first character in the novel to become a vampire. He was
changed early on in his life and will live eternally as a vampire. Lestat went around sucking the
blood of so many humans, converting them to vampires. Anne Rice writes portrays to the reader
that Lestat could not live alone, so he took any opportunity he saw to bring humans to the immortal
side of life as vampires. This is exactly what happened when he chose his victim, the second main

Gaston Leroux s Phantom Of The Opera

The Ghostly scares of the Terror Beneath The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston Leroux is a quite
terrifying, suspenseful, and mysterious book that will definitely keep you on your feet. This book
is about a Phantom, who has been told for doing horrible things inside the opera house in Paris.
Many tragedies happen and everyone flees from fear. No one believes anyone about this ghost,
there is only one person in the opera house who knows the real truth.
Gaston Leroux s novel starts out with a scene in the opera house. Christine Daae was singing on
the stage, and afterwards the managers were going to have a party, because it was their last night
at the opera house. Christine happens to be the protagonist of the book. Christine fainted in the
middle of her show and was dragged off stage like she saw a ghost. Raoul, has a crush on

men held their breath. They were still trying to find Christine, by going to every cellar. The third
cellar was the monster s home. They finally reached the third cellar and it was lit very dimly. Next,
the Foreign Stranger led Raoul down two staircases to the fifth cellar, because they thought they
heard something. A flaming head was following them as they started to run, and then they ran into a

The Solutions Of The 2015 Rohingya Crisis
The 2015 Rohingya Crisis is one of many ongoing humanitarian crises, but it is notable for the
general apathy of the international community regarding their desperate need for aid. In fact,
Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have pushed back incoming Rohingyan refugee boats, while no
country has offered widespread asylum (as Germany has done with regards to the Syrian
humanitarian crisis). In this essay, I will argue that Singapore should do all that it can to rescue
these refugees from their boats (without regards to offering them citizenship) this is to save them
from the immediate threat of drowning. In arguing for this, I will make use of arguments (by
Joseph Carens) for open borders. Subsequently, we have to address their needs for membership in a
state (as put forth by Hannah Arendt), which ought to be done by giving them Singaporean
citizenship. Granted, there will be discomfort and opposition to immigration on such a large scale,
particularly by nationalists. I will thus contend with proponents of Nationalism (such as David
Miller), and show why having a national identity does not preclude immigration. I will also address
potential cosmopolitan arguments that argue for a world order , which seeks to guarantee these
refugees rightsregardless of the whims of states.
Firstly, I will argue for the rescue and incorporation of these Rohingyan refugees into Singapore
society. There is no doubt that they are in dire straits, and in need of immediate assistance to prevent

With a battle cry through the kingdom of heaven and earth, she sprang from the head of
Zeus. She is one of the most powerful goddess on Mount Olympus, representing war and the
immortal spirit of wisdom. She never had a consort or lover, therefore, she is known as virgin
Athena. She was the goddess of justice, wisdom, and protector and arts and literature. Her symbol
is the owl which represents her wisdom. Athena was very unique in many different ways than other
greek goddesses.
The goddess Athena was not birthed by any women. According to The Encyclopedia of the

The owl was a known representation of Athena s wisdom, knowledge, and inner light. The owl
was to illuminate Athena s blind side and allowing her to seek the entire truth. Owls were
widely associated with Athena s blessings, and Greek soldiers viewed the sight of owls before a
battle as a symbol that the goddess was on their side. According to William Justus Raup from
The tales of an Upstate NY birder, The Owl became associated with Athena because, the light
that reflects off their eyes in the dark gave the appearance of an inner light or Wisdom and this is
the most likely cause, a particular species of Owl was common on top of the Acropolis of Athens.
Since that hilltop was dedicated to Athena, the Greeks took the fact that there were so many owls

Blood Pressure Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment is to test how how different water temperatures affect blood
pressure. The first step of the experiment s procedure was to create a baseline. We did this by
taking the normal blood pressure of the subject. We then submerged the subject s feet in three
different water temperatures; cold. room temperature, and warm. The experiment showed that cold
water increases blood pressure while warm water and room temperature water causes blood
pressure to decrease. In conclusion water temperature does have an effect on blood pressure.
Background:
Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the blood on the artery s walls. Blood pressure
readings are written by putting a person s systolic pressure over diastolic pressure. Systolic
pressure is the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart is beating. Diastolic blood pressure is
the pressure in blood vessels when the heart is resting between beats. It is measured in the unit of
millimeters of mercury or mmHg. The normal blood pressure for an adult should average at about
120/80 mmHg. Anything grammatically higher than that number is considered high blood pressure
and anything below is low blood pressure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cuff is wrapped around a person s arm and is inflated. The cuff applies pressure on the
brachial artery and cuts off circulation to the arm as it inflates. The systolic pressure is measured
once blood begins to flow into the arm again.
Hypothesis:
When feet are submerged in cold water they will cause blood pressure to rise and when feet are in
warm and room temperature water blood pressure will stay at normal levels.

Modern Definition of Rule of Law
Introduction to the Rule of Law amp; the modern definition. Rule of Law in the layman
perspective is the principle that nobody is above the law and that every man s act is subject to
the law. The law referred, in our context, is the Malaysian Constitution which embodies the
definition, expressly in many of its provisions. The constitution has the absolute power as
against the arbitrariness and discretionary power of the government. This concept is commonly
practiced in democratic countries. Rule of Law and Rule by Law should be distinguished as the
latter is merely a government s tool for the purpose of ruling and governing only. It is not a good
approach as compared to the Rule of Law because law is made by the people, for the people....

By Article 149, it permits the suspension of the Fundamental Liberties, since it validates any
legislation otherwise outside the legislative power of Parliament. The Proclamation of
Emergency provided in Article 150 permits Parliament and YdPA to override all provisions of
the Constitution. This is not to say rule of law is not stable, but that the regular law operates
alongside a system of emergency law which is much more draconian. An example is the powers
of preventive detention, or International Security Act, which will be discussed further.
Constitutionalism Crisis: International Security Act The International Security Act or more

School Board Meeting Paper
School board meeting are essential to the everyday operation of school districts. The meeting was
called to order by the school board president, the conservator himself, where a quorum was present
to start the meeting. Our school board members are elected and can serve a 4 year term, but the
district is under the state leadership currently. This is great, because with one individual making the
decisions and voting, makes the process of getting things done a smoother approach. With too many
individuals making decisions sometimes, they cannot agree or reach consensus.
Cunningham Cordeiro (2009) stated that in the past, board members were white males with a
college degree ranging in age from 40 50 years old. Today, there are more women and minorities
seeking board positions, especially in urban areas. Well in Leflore County all of our board
members is one individual, the conservator himself. The agenda was adopted and the meeting

Dualism In Korea
The poverty rate amongst the elders in Korea s especially aging population is very high, it has
been a very high contributor to income inequality over the past few decades . As of OECD
reports in 2011 have indicated 49 percent of the population above the age of 65 lived in relative
poverty. The figure in Korea is extremely high compared to the OECD average which is 13
percent. The BOAP was introduced relatively late in 2008 which covers roughly about 70 percent
of the population with the benefit of 97 thousand KRW which is 16 percent of the minimum cost of
living in 2014. Although there is a relative generosity in covering a large number of population for
the welfareprogram, the BOAP has not been able to prevent a significant rise of elderly poverty
rate and the GINI coefficient since 2007 .
In addition to the introduction of BOAP, there was an introduction to the National Pension
System (NPS). In 2013, only 29% of the age group 65 and above have benefited from the

Cerebroarterial Amyloidosis
Proteins play a critical role in normal human function and are made up of a sequence of amino
acids that have to be precise, to allow for proper folding to a functional three dimensional structure
(confirmation). This sequence is coded in the DNA in genes and hence any changes through
mutation or allele combinations can cause a change in the protein(s) coded, resulting in a diseased
state. Such a case is a disease called Cerebroarterial Amyloidosis, Icelandic type (CAI) that arises
from a mutation on chromosome 20 in the CST3 genelocated in the short arm of the chromosome
(20p11.21).1 It is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease and the mutated gene leads to the

Crime And Containment Theory Analysis
Reflecting back on when I was 18 years old I walked out of a pizza place without paying. It was
over the summer before school started up again, and I was with two of my best friends from high
school. After this class and covering many different understandings of crime and delinquency, I was
able to integrate some ideas on why I committed the crimeand possibly why others commit crime.
Focusing on Jack Katz Chapter 2 Cheap Thrills, Cohen, Reckless, and Hirschi s theories I was

In my understanding, there is no true way of knowing why people commit crimes, but there can
be explanations or inclinations to show a process or system that is not working or shows patterns

different theories and how some overlap with one another and even contradict shows that human
behavior can simply be just sporadic, in the moment with no real intention. Katz discusses this
sporadic moment in which people steal for the thrill as a general overarching idea, which can
lead to looking more specifically at Cohen s idea that in my case there was some peer influence
that could have lead me to committing the crime. There was also a connection between Reckless
and Hirschi in how they both talk about family, school, and community which again can relate
back to peer influence or subcultures that could occur when people feel secluded or how the

Summary Of When Theodore Roosevelt Saved Football
Bruce Watson, author of When Theodore Roosevelt Saved Football, writes in chronological order
the events in which he describes how football was saved from the notorious brutality the sport was
once known for. The intervention and involvement by President Theodore Roosevelt would
become a key element in the restructuring of football. While Roosevelt had never taken an interest
to playing football during his time at Harvard, he had great respect for the game. Furthermore,
Roosevelt believed the roughness nature of the game was necessary. Because of this, injuries
ranging from severe to fatal became standard. However, as stated in the reading by Watson,
pressure on Roosevelt built rapidly to take action as death tolls among players continued

Reflections on Research Based Writing Essay
If we understand library users as readers who write, we should reflect on when and why they write.
Generally, most users in academic libraries engage in writing based on research or research based
writing. How are we to understand this particular genre that consumes so many users time and
instructors assessment.
Consider first what research based writing is not. It is not creative writing, although creative writers
will often research some aspect of their subject. It is not journalistic writing, although the journalist
makes steady use of sources. It is not writing for publication, since it seldom finds an audience of
more than five. It is not an essay, although it has a beginning, middle, and end. Eliminating these
options, what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author s opinions will be based on reasons and evidence, not emotions or hearsay. The author
s reasoning will follow the principles of Western reasoning, if only informally. The evidence used
will have a logical link to the reasons they support. Evidence itself will be a verifiable fact.
Furthermore, research based writing seeks a plausible (not conclusive) answer to a question of
interest to the readers. The overarching purpose for writing is to show why the reader should
accept that answer. This includes acknowledging and responding to possible alternative answers to
the question. Others ideas are used to find or support claims, reasons, or evidence but cannot to be
presented as the writer s own. Even though the writer may come to the same conclusion as others
who have addressed the issue before, he or she must present the answer and its supporting reasons
as the product of an one s own investigation, being careful to acknowledge when and how others
contributions have been utilized. The reader expects to see all this written in standard edited
English with few (or no) errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation.
Often research based writing is a solitary exercise. For non academics and many librarians,
research based writing has been rarely practiced outside the classroom, and many of the processes
may not be familiar or practiced only informally. It requires a basic skill set that new students may

Homecoming Week Essay
Homecoming
Students strut through the hall looking as if they are from another planet. A sea of bright blue flood
the Wilke. Ear piercing cheers rattle the bleachers. Homecoming week is among the most
memorable times of high school. Students are able step out of their comfort zone; whether that is
by dressing in flamboyant costumes, or meeting new people during Edgewood in the Community.
No matter which event is your favorite, homecoming week is an enjoyable and memorable time for
all. The week starts off with its annual homecoming week mass. As students and faculty gather,
the gym feels as if it is bursting at the seams with excitement to finally start the festivities.
Seniors involved in powderpuff were so excited to begin the week, that they arrived at school
before the sun rose. Shoes were soaked with dew, and shirts were dripping with sweat as the battle
for the championship continued. Braids, bows, and bruises can best describe the competitive flag
football league. As the sun slowly filled the sky with its warm rays, students filtered into school
wearing their best rodeo attire. Cowboy boots clunked down the stairs, country music blasted
outside of classrooms, and plaid shirts were sported by almost everyone. During lunch mods,
students were entertained with sign painting. An overwhelming number of people gathered around

Second of all, many accidents occur with not wearing a seatbelt, my mom was able to witness
one. About a month ago, my mom was on jury duty for a car accident. The driver had been
drinking along with the other passengers in the car. None of the people in the car had been
buckled. They hit a tree, the front passenger door flew off the car and the girl in the passenger
seat became badly paralyzed. She had been a basketball player and now she can t even move her
body. The girl in the back seat had been her sister. She got flung many feet away from the car
and died. It took the police many days to recover her body and they said if she had been buckled
she would still be alive today. There s a quote by John Gvare that states, Oh, I never wear my

Theoretical Analysis Paper
Theoretical Analysis This section aims to give a platform in understanding the human
communication that occurs in the workplace. As we discuss, people with high apprehension would
likely to have a tendency to avoid communication with others. Therefore, when a person
communicates with another person, sometimes it may involve some uncomfortable feelings
between them. This situation might be related or could be examined by using communication
theories, in particularly, Cognitive DissonanceTheory and Expectancy Violations Theory.
Cognitive Dissonance Theory
According to cognitive dissonance theory (Festinger, 1957), individuals feel uncomfortable when
they gain information which does not match the existing pattern or inconsistent. West Turner (2010)
explained that the dissonance as inconsistent between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if they were not able to avoid and withdraw from the unfavorable communication
situations, then the dissonance would not be reduced and consequently, they become less satisfied
with their jobs (Gibbs, Rosenfeld, and Javidi, 1994).
There are three ways of reducing the dissonance between actions and attitudes: selective exposure,
post decision dissonance, and minimal justification (Griffin, 2012). First, Festinger believed that
people tend to avoid information that increases dissonance and find out the information that is
consistent with their attitudes and behavior. The selective exposure hypothesis could explain why
the high CA members still choose to avoid communication, even though it was necessary and
compulsory in the workplace. For example, high apprehensive workers were fear of negative
evaluation (Winiecki and Ayres, 1999) and this emphasized that they refuse to gain information
from others, as they would avoid the dissonance and become consistent with their aversive
behaviors. According to Festinger (1957), after people made a decision, they could produce a huge
amount of internal tensions. The theory mentions that the more important the

Avengers Costuming
Marvel s Avengers: Age of Ultron has revolutionized the age of costuming. The film directed by
Joss Whedon was an action packed super hero film that will make you sit on the edge of your seat.
Elaborate costumes with the marvelous acting from the characters makes the movie a must see.
Intricate costuming like Captain America combined with the fantastic acting of Chris Evans
(Captain America) fabricated the interesting character which makes the movie even more enticing.
The thrilling film starts out the marvelous suits of the heroes in action. The suits really describe
and represent the character. For example, Black Widow is wearing a dark black suit which
mirrors her personality. The black suit represents how she is a spy and is skilled in the art of
fighting. It also represents that she is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acting is also required for an exceptional movie. Great acting from Iron Man (Robert Downy Jr.)
plus acting from the romance of the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Hulk (Mark

never fails to make jokes to lighten up the mood. You can see his funny personality through his
acting. He uses hand motions and different tones of talking to increase to realism of the movie.
Probably one of the best actors in the film, he makes the movie so much better, with his ability
to change tones in the middle of scenes. There is also the romance of Black Widow and the
Hulk. I couldn t tell that they were acting. In scenes when it is just the two of the alone, they both
use soft tones and body language to get the romantic fell. Even though Black Widow doesn t like
romance I thought she liked the Hulk. The way they act around each other, gentle and sweet,
creates a beautiful, romantic façade, and just adds a more realistic feel. Overall these two people
were really convincing in their acting and added a touch of romance that the movie

Managing a diverse workforce assists in creating a vivacious and assorted business team with
opportunities and challenges for people of all aptitudes and experiences, besides host country

country s normal operating business practices. According to Hofstede s dimensions of culturemodel,
one could better understand the challenges faced by multinational managers in regards to human
resource management, leadership style, motivational assumptions, decision making, organizational
design, and how culture can affect strategy implementation (Cullen Parboteeah, 2014, p. 52).
Furthermore, one can imagine how important manger actions and behavior are in educating future
business leaders on how important it is to have a global mindset ( Social, 2014). Lastly, although
some consider the challenges mentioned obstacles, one could also consider finding opportunities in
learning and progressing as a manager by being flexible and knowledgeable about different
business possibilities and styles.

Stanhope s character. The opinions that are given of Stanhope by the other characters are fairly
accurate. Hardy s description appears to be correct at first, when Stanhope enters; his first words

around him. The quick temper that Osborne described is also shown to the audience in this part of
the scene.

The Issue Of Team Self Management Essay
Literature Review: Self Management
The issue of team self management is one of great interest in today s complex environment, it seems
many businesses are restructuring themselves in an attempt to modernize and stay relevant. Some
of the most successful organizations in modern times were nothing more than an idea a decade or
two ago, with names like Facebook and Zappos. Part of this successful startup culture includes
decentralization of decision making, often leading to a more flexible and employee friendly work
environment. More traditional organizations are taking note of this trend and studying it or
implementing it themselves.
Other common terms for the idea of organizational decentralization include: team self management,
self management, shared control, distributed leadership (Lambe, Webb, Ishida, 2009) and holacracy
(Robertson, 2007). While these terms may have small differences they all describe the common
theme of distributing power across organizations. Several concepts help to explain why
decentralization and the encouragement of teamwork throughout an organization are often superior
to traditional management structure.
Many types of studies have been conducted and share the common outcome that performance is
often better within the workplace when outcomes are judged as a team rather than specific
individuals. Additional studies have been shown than teams are more likely to come up with
effective and necessary management tactics than appointing a

Chronic Renal Failure Research Paper
Acute renal failure occurs when your kidneys suddenly become unable to filter waste products
from your blood. As a result, dangerous levels of wastes may accumulate and your blood s
chemical makeup may get out of balance. It is usually caused by an event that leads to kidney
malfunction such as dehydration, blood loss from a major surgery or injury, or the use of certain
medications. Symptoms of decreased kidneyfunction, such as fluid buildup or electrolyte imbalance
are more likely to develop with acute renal failure, regardless of how long the kidney itself has been

Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which are then excreted in your
urine. Initially, there may not be very many signs or symptoms present. As a result, chronic renal
failure may not become apparent until kidney function is significantly impaired. It is not
uncommon for signs and symptoms to develop over time if kidney damage progresses slowly.
With that being said, signs and symptoms of renal failure are often nonspecific and can be caused
by other illnesses. Chronic renal failure usually occurs when a disease or condition impairs kidney
function such as diabetes or hypertension, which causes kidney damage to worsen over several
months or years. Unfortunately, this can potentially lead to other problems including anemia and
increased levels of phosphate in the blood. There are several different forms of treatment for
chronic renal failure, consisting mostly of medications. These medications are used to treat the
following: high blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, anemia, relieve swelling and protection

have the thick forest to protect against the wind, and you were stuck sitting still. It is one of the

Relationship Between Equity And The Common Law
Equity has been described as a mysterious creature that lies distinctly alongside the common law. In
considering the statement, there is an almost linear reversal in which the remedies in equity procure
a type of right not necessarily available in the common law. This peculiar jurisdiction has created
consistent controversy especially in regards to the fusion of the common lawand equity. To
understand further, this essay will consider the relationship between equity and the common law.
The development of equity alongside the common law through its history and intention, and
application in case law will be imperative in the discussion of the statement. In conjunction with an
analysis of fusion, it will become apparent that equitable damages were enlivened, separate to, in
unfair circumstances where no rights/damages existed within the common law. In trying to tread
the murky waters of the distinction yet the procedural fusion of equity and common law, the
contention of this essay becomes apparent. Effectively, this essay aims to highlight that the history,
intention, application and fusion fallacies regarding equity, all which point to an assertion that
rights in equity are indeed the product of its remedies. Whether they are merely two streams of
jurisdiction, though they run in the same channel, run side by side and do not mingle their waters ,
is yet to be seen.

business wants them to act. The effects of non human technology in supermarkets illustrate how
they are controlling customers wants and needs. The idea of a rationalized system can also
become inefficient when there are too many regulations, which leads to irrationality. Although
Safeway supermarkets find it efficient to stock up on all products, it is not efficient when you
have to wade through the mini departments of the deli, the bakery, the fresh produce section, and
aisle after aisle just to find what you are looking for. Another example of irrationality is that
people know fast food is not good for their health but yet they still eat it, because it is efficient,
cheap, and fast. People have taken McDonaldization to the next level where if they cannot have
their dinner made within fifteen minutes they find something else that is quick and easy such as
going to Safeway and purchasing frozen microwavable

Fetal Tissues And Its Effects
Fetal tissues are advantageous in medical therapy for a myriad of ways. Most commonly, the fetal
tissue cells would be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson s, Huntington s
disease, and Alzheimer s disease. More recent breakthroughs show possibilities of the use of fetal
tissues for diabetes and an assortment of blood and immune disorders. (Bachoud, 2000) Fetal
tissues divide more rapidly than matured tissues, making them better candidates for the
experimental medical therapy. (Fackleman,1995) In addition, by using fetal tissues in the
transplant, the possibility of the host rejecting the transplant is significantly lower than that of the
use of matured tissues. (McCloskey) The objective behind the transplant is to restore the lost
functions in a person ridden with a neurodegenerative and otherwise incurable disease.
(Bensoussan, 2002) There are billions of nerve cells in a human brain. Neurodegenerative diseases,
like Parkinson s and Huntington s disease cause the selective loss of approximately 500,000 cells
in the brain which once performed critical functions. (Bachoud Levi, 2000) The loss of these cells
results in result in devastating, oftentimes fatal symptoms. The course of these disease is often
gradual and occurs over many years, producing an overall deterioration of motor skills and brain
function. While the cause of neurodegenerative diseases has been theorized, the specifics of the
causes are unknown. (Ezzell, 1992) Less than five percent

Why Pro-Choice Is The Right Choice
Why Pro Choice is the Right Choice
With the evolving moral standards of society, abortions are becoming more and more justified.
Abortions, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother, has become a controversial
issue in American society, but should be generally supported because women should have the
choice on how they choose their eggs to go on, whether it be to end further growth of the fetus or
not. Women have a right to control what happens in and with their body.
Being a pro choice defender means taking sympathies to this woman while she then gets called a
murderer by pro life supporters. Abortions sometimes results in the woman being harassed because
of the choice she has made about her own body. That s what pro life supports. ... Show more content

This young girl had been raped and was 25 weeks pregnant when she found out she was
pregnant. The father of the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claims she became
pregnant in February after her doctor injected her with sedatives and then raped her. His petition
for her to be allowed an abortion after the 20 week legal limit was turned down by two regional
courts before the Supreme Court on Tuesday gave the go ahead if medics deemed there was a
serious threat to her life if the child is not aborted. M. M. Prabhakar, one of the doctors
appointed to the case, said that the girl was not in a fit state to have the baby and the procedure
would be carried out on Friday in Ahmedabad, which is the main city in western Gujarat state.
Prabhakar states The girl is not physically fit and her mental condition is also not stable. She was
found to have suicidal tendencies, as he told AFP. Therefore it has been decided to abort the fetus.
This case should have been taken care of as soon as brought to the attention of doctors ( Protect
Girls Pregnant Through Rape from Abortion )
Some abortion cases are due to being too young to support the child. According to Abortions In
America , Women give an average of 3.7 reasons why they are seeking an abortion including the
following: 21% Inadequate finances, 21% Not ready for responsibility, 12% Problems with
relationships, unmarried, 11% Too young and/or immature, and 35% other.

Art In The Tempest
Art In Shakespeare s The TempestArt in The Tempest is experienced in three different forms as
music, drama, and indeed, rhetoric. Moreover, magic is accepted as a form of art in the play.
Various characters manifest these three different forms for various purposes. However, the greatest
one of them all is Prospero s magic. While this magic is the element that makes the plot going in
the first place, drama intertwined with rhetoric is the actual art form behind Prospero s power.
Throughout the play, Prospero carries out a grand plan on the people who have betrayed him
years ago. This grand plan reminds the reader of a play, as if Prospero is assuming the role of a
playwright and the characters of The Tempestare the characters of his play. The island is his stage,
and his cave with his stuff is the backstage. However, he seems ... Show more content on

He sets his traitor brother up for a big face off, yet in the end he decides the rarer action is in
virtue than on vengeance (5.1.27), and doesn t complete his plans. At this point, it can be
thought that the story of this man who gives up his art is highly relevant with Shakespeare s
own life as a playwright, especially when the fact that The Tempest is the last play he wrote
without someone else s collaboration is taken into account. He holds the power of changing his
characters fate in his hands as a writer, but that doesn t change the fact that he may lose control of
his art (be it magic or rhetoric) from time to time. For instance, during the wedding scene of
Miranda and Ferdinand (4.1.140), which is another remarkable example for Prospero/playwright
theory with all the spirit actors, Prospero is seen to lose his focus and forget about the threat to his
life. This incident can be interpreted as a similar

The University of Michigan Fab Five Essay
There seems to be a fine line, a three point line, between pushing the envelope and pushing a
revolution. In 1991, five freshmen from the University of Michigan brashly stepped over that line
redefining the world of college basketball as we knew it and in the process, revolutionized the
relationship between style and sport. These men were fresh in more ways than one, causing an
entire nation to dub them fabulous. They brought a hip and a hop to a game that was previously
flat. Anyone following college basketballloved or hated to love the Fab Five, evincing that either
way five things were on people s minds or television screens. Whether you were a kid begging your
mom to take you to a sporting goods store, like I was, to get those... Show more content on

With a grin on his face and hands over knees, Juwan explains how they became five: Back then
high school basketball players weren t legitimate pro prospects so blue chip recruits would call
other blue chip recruits in order to sway their decision. The more details about his pursuit of the
other four, the more his grin grows, I knew if I could get Jalen I could get Chris since they were
both from Detroit. Ray, on the other hand, was a whole different story. Being from Texas and the
son of a Preacher, Ray s decision really wasn t his. Ray s father made it clear that school and
family come before basketball. Impersonating his father s initial response Ray can t help but get
animated Michigan? Ray you ve never seen snow! But when decision making time came
Michigan s prestigious academic history, a full scholarship, and combined with the Ray s constant
badgering was the right choice according to the Preacher. The fifth guy was Jimmy. Juwan didn t
even have to call him. Before Jimmy was even off the phone with Coach Steve Fisher he made his
decision to attend Michigan. It was out of habit that the Fib Five displayed style, when they
dunked over someone they danced and talked trash to them because that was how they were used to
playing. They all grew up playing street basketball. Taunting, trash talking, and flashiness are all
characteristics of playground basketball

Questions On The Mediation Resolution
Reporting and Responding
My first assessable item of Dispute Resolution was to conduct a mock facilitative mediation role
play. Mediation is as a self determinative and typically voluntary process which encourages
disputing parties to negotiate, with the support of a mediator, based upon conflicting interests. The
ultimate function of mediation is to gain a mutually agreeable outcome. Facilitative, as opposed to
advisory, or evaluative, mediation is a self determinative dispute resolution process which
encourages involvement.
In a practice role play of this model, which was carried out one week prior to the assessment due
date, the composition of groups were assigned. My group consisted of two mediators, James
Musgrave and Jake Lengui, and two parties which were allocated to Lauren Bicknell and myself.
The scenario was uniform for all groups in my tutorial, revolving around a conflict of interest
between Sam and Pat. Sam, who was a violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and
Pat, who had a full time job as a writer, were neighbours who rented an apartment a conflict
subsequently developed over noise. Both parties in this scenario require uninterrupted work on
their respective jobs, with Pat working against the clock to finish his latest manuscript and Sam
practicing for an important upcoming concert. Lauren and I agreed that I was to play the role of
Sam, and she was to play the role of Pat.
Following the opening statements of the mediators , I had to

New Terminology in Criminal Justice
We use research methods in our every day life and not even know it. Research methods play a
very important part in the life of someone who is in the criminology field. Without some of the
research methods that we have, many cases would never get solved, and they would be in the
cold case files. In this paper, I will discuss new terminology and how it helps one who is in the
criminology field. Methodology or methods involve the collection of accurate facts and/or data
regarding the nature of crime and criminal justice policy. In my reading I learned about

I think since I am in the field of criminology, that knowing all these terms will help me be an
asset over someone who does not know what they are. Knowing a different language of research
will also help me with researching things from homicide to burglary. If I were going to hire
someone to be on my police force, and I had two people to choose from. I would most definitely
pick the person who knew more about the force and what goes on inside the force over someone
who did not. People do not think that Jargon is something very important to know, but in all
reality it is very important. Jargon in any field helps the people in that field know what is going
on without letting other people who aren t suppose to know. It is almost like it is a secret code
and you had to be initiated in to know what is going on. I believe that knowing the language of
research is one of the most important methods in criminal justice or criminology that a person can
know. It is something very helpful that no one can take away from you. It is the knowledge of
knowing what is going

Lab Report Biodiversity
INTRODUCTION
Biodiversity presents occurrence of variety of species and their natural community in which they
live. By the definition it is The degree of variation of life forms within a given species, ecosystem,
biome, or an entire planet. It is a measure of the health of ecosystems and is in part a function of
climate. (Rutherford) Ecosystem is on the other hand, community and its abiotic environment (
Rutherford). Biodiversity exists in every ecosystem, weather it is big one, or just ecosystem of one
garden, it has the same importance because without it nature loses its ability to perform major
functions needed for life on Earth, as it is oxygen production. Trough this investigation, two
different ecosystems will be explored and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

index is not low. As the maximum value is equal to the number of species in the sample, we can

Executive Summary The United States wine industry is a 12 billion dollar industry and is
composed of 7,000 wineries and around 1,800 different companies. The three major companies
within the industry are Constellation brands, E J Gallo, and The Wine Group Inc. The industry has
made its way through the economic crisis at a better rate than some of the other U.S industries
however in order for them to continue to see any type of growth it is important that they
acknowledge their issues and find ways in which they can rectify them. The majority of the issues
among the industry are problems that cannot be directly controlled by individual winecompanies.
Therefore it is imperative that wineries find away to use these issues to their... Show more content

Not only does the U.S. produce wine to be sold in the U.S. but last year they exported around 403
million liters of wine, the majority was exported to Canada and the United Kingdom.
The price of grapes depends based on how the grapes were treated prior to being sold. This has
an effect on how much it cost to produce the wine, but it also affects how much the wine will
cost to the consumer. There is a price different between fresh grapes and grapes that have been
processed. In 2009 the average price for one ton of grapes was around $505. When examining the
cost of producing wine there are many factors in which you have to look at. Factors many include
but are not limited to, the grapes, the process of fermentation, the storage, the labor and time, the
bottling/packaging, and of course the shipping of the products to the customers. The total cost of
wine in California in 2009 was around 1.7 billion dollars, which included the production of 3.4
million tons of wine grapes.
The pricing for the products themselves are harder to approximate. There are many factors that go
into deciding the price for a certain type of wine, with a certain name, from a certain company,
containing a certain type of grape, that was processed a certain way. Many wine companies
throughout the US have a high end wine and a low end wine. This allows the company to enter the
market at all angels. Especially with the down turn of the economy, many companies have had to

  • 2. Napoleon the Leader Eagle Success Napoleon The Leader I chose Napoleon Bonaparte for my report for being an outstanding emperor and officer for the French. Even though he was very short, at the height of only 5 3 , he showed that size doesn t matter and had his wide range of accomplishments support his thought. One of his more famous achievements was him developing The Napoleonic Code or Civil Code. The Napoleonic Code or Code Civil still forms the basis of French civil law. Another one of his amazing was escaping from certain death and returning to emperor for his last 100 days. Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15,1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. He was the fourth child out of a total of 7 brothers and sisters. His parents were Carlo Buonaparte and Letizia Buonaparte. His father was a Corsican lawyer and his mother was a stay at home mom that had a very strict and down to earth view on all things. Then once Napoleon had turned nine, his father sent him to a French military academy. At the age of 16 he had finally joined the French army. Just recently introduced into the French military he was commissioned as an artillery officer, this was only after 1 year of training. His first assignment as an artillery officer was to capture Fort Mulgrave. His successful capture promoted him to Brigadier General in December 1793. Shortly after his promotion he was tried for treason against his country. He was later released for lack of evidence and returned to command an artillery unit on the Italian ... • 3. Comparing The 1971 White Paper On Defence And The 2008... The purpose of this paper is to compare the 1971 White Paper on Defence and the 2008 Canada First Defence Strategy. More specifically, this paper will compare the strategic environment, Canada s greatest allies, the alliances Canada supported, and Canada s security and defence priorities in the 1970s and under the CanadaFirst Defence Strategy (CFDS). As this paper will demonstrate, the key differences witnessed in the 1971 White Paper on Defence and in the 2008 Canada First Defence Strategy is in terms of the specificities of the foreign and defence policy presented, the perceived types of threats to national and international security, and the Canadian Forces capability to respond to such major challenges. However, both the 1971 White Paper and the 2008 CFDS clearly demonstrate that the Canadian Forces are there first to defend Canada and Canadians, then to defend North America in cooperation with the United States, and finally to contribute to international security. Furthermore, both papers emphasize on the importance of defence policy in achieving foreign policy objectives. Global Strategic Environment When assessing the global strategic environment, the major changes between 1971 and now is the types of perceived threats to national and international security. In 1971, when the White Paper on Defence was released, the world was dominated by the United States and the USSR, and there was a consensus that the major threat Canada feared the most was a nuclear war ... By participating in the age old activity one opens their mental and physical wellbeing to multiple benefits. It did to my mind what going to the gym did to my body said Dr. Hedy Kober, a neuroscientist who studies the effects of meditation, it made it both stronger and more flexible. (Meditation Health Benefits). Meditation is a practice that may train one s mindto be at a state of consciousness and wholeness. Throughout history Buddhist monks and other eastern religions have been utilizing this practice for religious purposes, however recently individuals have been testing it out for themselves. One does not have to mediate for religious purposes, this phnaoman can be used to lower stress levels, cure anxietyand panic disorders, learn to handle stressful situations better, and help to control anxiety, sharpen one s mind, improve memory and critical thinking and reverse depression. • 8. Character Analysis Of Mae Holland In The Circle Mae Holland is an ambitious, intelligent young woman and the main character in Dave Eggers novel The Circle. Although her character is paramount to telling the novel s main story (detailing the prominence of the monopolistic, power hungry tech company known as The Circle ), she is hardly a protagonist, with her being ill informed at best at the book s beginning, and complicit in the Circles nefarious doings by the novel s conclusion. Mae is an exceptionally bland character who offers little interesting internal dialogue and who s only notable overarching character trait is her ever present insecurity and her need to please others. Arguably, it could be said that Mae truly is not the main character of The Circle at all; Rather The Circle company itself, or more precisely Mae s relationship with the The Circle (and by association its dystopian philosophies) are what take center stage. As a character, Mae is malleable; a clean slate waiting to take orders and eager to agree with her superiors, she yearns for attention from others, is figuratively trapped inside The Circle s elaborate campus, and acts as a mouthpiece for the The Circle s leaders; repeating whatever they want her to say. Due to the fact that Mae Holland possess these characteristics, she is comparable to a parrot. The same way a parrot enters its cage with a blank mind, devoid of any calls or phrases, Mae approaches her job at The Circle with an open mind, not influenced by any previous work experiences. When thinking of the occupation she previously held prior to working at The Circle, Mae expresses extreme discontent. Her final day at the public utility in her hometown had been only three weeks ago they d been stupefied when she gave notice but it already seemed impossible that she wasted so much of her life there. Good riddance, Mae thought, to that gulag and all it represented (pg 4). The passage above indicates that Mae loathed her previous job, considering it a waist of her life and likening it to a gulag . This shows that Mae felt little passion or allegiance to her old job, and thus approaches her new job at The Circle with a blank mind, not considering her previous experiences valuable to her in any way. ... • 9. The European Union And The Treaty Of Western And Eastern... On January 1st 2007 while the world was celebrating New Year s Day, twenty five state members of the European Union (EU) welcomed almost 30 million people from Romania and Bulgaria to the union. Massive celebrations were held in Romania and Bulgaria to mark this accession. This historic event also marked the fifth enlargement of the EU and the peaceful reunification of Western and Eastern European countries since the end of the Cold War. The path to membership was long and sometimes challenging but in the end these two countries arrived to the road of Europe and the future. Romania has been searching integration since the times of Nicolae Ceausescu (and even before). Historical evidence demonstrated that Romania did not want to remain only part of the Warsaw Pact or the Soviet Block. It has always been in pursuit of a greater role in the world and in Europe, but in order to become part of the EU several reforms were needed. The cost of gaining access to the EU was high but in the end Romania and the EU would benefit of this mutual relation, especially in areas of defense, security, economy, energy and technology. The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of the EU accession on the economy and society in Romania. Chronological and comparative analysis of pre EU membership and post membership are used to assess if the accession has been positive or negative. 1.Soviet Era, Nicolae Ceausescu and the Romanian Revolution of 1989: 1.1Soviet Era After World War II, most ... • 10. An Analysis Of Anne Rice s Interview With The Vampire Good and evil each have multiple definitions and could be used to refer to many different situations involving people, ideas, products, or places. Depending on which situation someone is referring to, the definition of the term that is used will be altered slightly in order for people to understand the severity of the situation. According to the Mirriam Webster dictionary, evil is defined as immorally reprehensible . This definition would typically be used to describe an action or a feeling that a person possesses which are hateful or sinful. This definition of evil would be the perfect definition to describe the main characters in Anne Rice s Interview With the Vampire . The three main characters are vampires who spend their time trying to conceal their urges to bite people s neck an suck their blood until death has almost fallen upon them, but never until death actually occurs. Louis, Lestat, and Claudia struggle throughout the novel to suppress their urges to killand battle with their evil desires. Lestat is the first character in the novel to become a vampire. He was changed early on in his life and will live eternally as a vampire. Lestat went around sucking the blood of so many humans, converting them to vampires. Anne Rice writes portrays to the reader that Lestat could not live alone, so he took any opportunity he saw to bring humans to the immortal side of life as vampires. • 12. The Solutions Of The 2015 Rohingya Crisis The 2015 Rohingya Crisis is one of many ongoing humanitarian crises, but it is notable for the general apathy of the international community regarding their desperate need for aid. In fact, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have pushed back incoming Rohingyan refugee boats, while no country has offered widespread asylum (as Germany has done with regards to the Syrian humanitarian crisis). In this essay, I will argue that Singapore should do all that it can to rescue these refugees from their boats (without regards to offering them citizenship) this is to save them from the immediate threat of drowning. In arguing for this, I will make use of arguments (by Joseph Carens) for open borders. Subsequently, we have to address their needs for membership in a state (as put forth by Hannah Arendt), which ought to be done by giving them Singaporean citizenship. Granted, there will be discomfort and opposition to immigration on such a large scale, particularly by nationalists. I will thus contend with proponents of Nationalism (such as David Miller), and show why having a national identity does not preclude immigration. I will also address potential cosmopolitan arguments that argue for a world order , which seeks to guarantee these refugees rightsregardless of the whims of states. Firstly, I will argue for the rescue and incorporation of these Rohingyan refugees into Singapore society. There is no doubt that they are in dire straits, and in need of immediate assistance to prevent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to William Justus Raup from The tales of an Upstate NY birder, The Owl became associated with Athena because, the light that reflects off their eyes in the dark gave the appearance of an inner light or Wisdom and this is the most likely cause, a particular species of Owl was common on top of the Acropolis of Athens. • 14. Blood Pressure Lab Report The purpose of this experiment is to test how how different water temperatures affect blood pressure. The first step of the experiment s procedure was to create a baseline. We did this by taking the normal blood pressure of the subject. We then submerged the subject s feet in three different water temperatures; cold. room temperature, and warm. The experiment showed that cold water increases blood pressure while warm water and room temperature water causes blood pressure to decrease. In conclusion water temperature does have an effect on blood pressure. Background: Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the blood on the artery s walls. Blood pressure readings are written by putting a person s systolic pressure over diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure is the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart is beating. Diastolic blood pressure is the pressure in blood vessels when the heart is resting between beats. It is measured in the unit of millimeters of mercury or mmHg. The normal blood pressure for an adult should average at about 120/80 mmHg. Rule of Law in the layman perspective is the principle that nobody is above the law and that every man s act is subject to the law. The law referred, in our context, is the Malaysian Constitution which embodies the definition, expressly in many of its provisions. The constitution has the absolute power as against the arbitrariness and discretionary power of the government. This concept is commonly practiced in democratic countries. Rule of Law and Rule by Law should be distinguished as the latter is merely a government s tool for the purpose of ruling and governing only. The meeting was called to order by the school board president, the conservator himself, where a quorum was present to start the meeting. This is great, because with one individual making the decisions and voting, makes the process of getting things done a smoother approach. As of OECD reports in 2011 have indicated 49 percent of the population above the age of 65 lived in relative poverty. The figure in Korea is extremely high compared to the OECD average which is 13 percent. The BOAP was introduced relatively late in 2008 which covers roughly about 70 percent of the population with the benefit of 97 thousand KRW which is 16 percent of the minimum cost of living in 2014. Although there is a relative generosity in covering a large number of population for the welfareprogram, the BOAP has not been able to prevent a significant rise of elderly poverty rate and the GINI coefficient since 2007 . In addition to the introduction of BOAP, there was an introduction to the National Pension System (NPS). In 2013, only 29% of the age group 65 and above have benefited from the pension system. The pension coverage was also very small with only 310 thousand KRW which is about $298 per month. Moreover, there is a wide gender gap in its recipients, with 40 percent of men receiving it compared to only 15 percent of women. The selective exposure hypothesis could explain why the high CA members still choose to avoid communication, even though it was necessary and compulsory in the workplace. • 36. The Issue Of Team Self Management Essay Literature Review: Self Management The issue of team self management is one of great interest in today s complex environment, it seems many businesses are restructuring themselves in an attempt to modernize and stay relevant. Some of the most successful organizations in modern times were nothing more than an idea a decade or two ago, with names like Facebook and Zappos. Part of this successful startup culture includes decentralization of decision making, often leading to a more flexible and employee friendly work environment. More traditional organizations are taking note of this trend and studying it or implementing it themselves. Other common terms for the idea of organizational decentralization include: team self management, self management, shared control, distributed leadership (Lambe, Webb, Ishida, 2009) and holacracy (Robertson, 2007). While these terms may have small differences they all describe the common theme of distributing power across organizations. Several concepts help to explain why decentralization and the encouragement of teamwork throughout an organization are often superior to traditional management structure. Many types of studies have been conducted and share the common outcome that performance is often better within the workplace when outcomes are judged as a team rather than specific individuals. Techno-Romance in the Film Her Essay Her (2013) is based on a futuristic premise that sets the stage for an unusual love story between a lonely, nebbish, professional letter writer, Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) and his artificially intelligent computer operating system, Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). In the movie, Spike Jonze, the writer and director, touches upon the larger questions surrounding the human condition and how our desire to be loved and accepted has led us to seek technological substitutes for our most basic emotional needs. Importantly, the movie also comes with an embedded caveat for the future based on our current socio cultural obsession with technology if we were to continue our zeitgeist y love affair with technology and artificial... She (it) ushers in a breath of fresh air into Theo s life, draws him out of himself and helps him get back to being the optimistic schlemiel he once was. At first, Theo thinks of himself as an outlier to be dating a disembodied operating system, but as he looks around, he finds that he is not alone pursuing a relationship with an OS. Similarly, Amy (Amy Adams), his friend, who has also recently ended her marriage, is getting caught up in a new relationship with an OS left behind by her estranged husband. What follows is a cautionary tale of a love affair between a man and his smartphone. Another element used in the film that adds strength to its characters is the choice of actors. It is hard to imagine anyone other than Joaquin Phoenix playing the poetic melancholic role of Theodore. Joaquin s clever costume design by Casey Storm, complete with his tragicomic mustache, is used to convey the director s belief that fashion recycles itself. The choice of Scarlett Johansson over Samantha Morton as the voice of Samantha during post production was a momentous decision. • 42. Relationship Between Equity And The Common Law Equity has been described as a mysterious creature that lies distinctly alongside the common law. In considering the statement, there is an almost linear reversal in which the remedies in equity procure a type of right not necessarily available in the common law. This peculiar jurisdiction has created consistent controversy especially in regards to the fusion of the common lawand equity. To understand further, this essay will consider the relationship between equity and the common law. The development of equity alongside the common law through its history and intention, and application in case law will be imperative in the discussion of the statement. In conjunction with an analysis of fusion, it will become apparent that equitable damages were enlivened, separate to, in unfair circumstances where no rights/damages existed within the common law. In trying to tread the murky waters of the distinction yet the procedural fusion of equity and common law, the contention of this essay becomes apparent. Effectively, this essay aims to highlight that the history, intention, application and fusion fallacies regarding equity, all which point to an assertion that rights in equity are indeed the product of its remedies. Whether they are merely two streams of jurisdiction, though they run in the same channel, run side by side and do not mingle their waters , is yet to be seen. • 43. An Analysis Of George Ritzer s Five Components Of... McDonaldization McDonaldization is a term used by sociologist George Ritzer in his book The McDonaldization of Society (1993). Ritzer uses McDonaldization to describe a sociological phenomenon that is happening in our society. He explains that it becomes demonstrated when a culture adopts the principles of a fast food restaurant. Essentially, the term McDonaldizationis the process of rationalization. When Ritzer titled his book The McDonaldization of Society he is actually referring to the rationalization of society. Thus, the use of the word McDonaldization simply indicates that the fast foodrestaurant is one of many great examples of rationality. Ritzer discusses five components of McDonaldization: efficiency, predictability, control,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Safeway supermarket employees use non human technology to scan food in barcodes. Non human technology does not only controls the workers but customers as well. For instance, customers face a variety of structural barriers and they follow the norms when they enter a Safeway supermarket for they have to walk down aisles to obtain their desired goods. All of these are ways to control customers at the Safeway supermarkets to act in a manner in which the business wants them to act. The effects of non human technology in supermarkets illustrate how they are controlling customers wants and needs. The idea of a rationalized system can also become inefficient when there are too many regulations, which leads to irrationality. Although Safeway supermarkets find it efficient to stock up on all products, it is not efficient when you have to wade through the mini departments of the deli, the bakery, the fresh produce section, and aisle after aisle just to find what you are looking for. Another example of irrationality is that people know fast food is not good for their health but yet they still eat it, because it is efficient, cheap, and fast. People have taken McDonaldization to the next level where if they cannot have their dinner made within fifteen minutes they find something else that is quick and easy such as going to Safeway and purchasing frozen microwavable ... • 44. Fetal Tissues And Its Effects Fetal tissues are advantageous in medical therapy for a myriad of ways. Most commonly, the fetal tissue cells would be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson s, Huntington s disease, and Alzheimer s disease. More recent breakthroughs show possibilities of the use of fetal tissues for diabetes and an assortment of blood and immune disorders. (Bachoud, 2000) Fetal tissues divide more rapidly than matured tissues, making them better candidates for the experimental medical therapy. (Fackleman,1995) In addition, by using fetal tissues in the transplant, the possibility of the host rejecting the transplant is significantly lower than that of the use of matured tissues. (McCloskey) The objective behind the transplant is to restore the lost functions in a person ridden with a neurodegenerative and otherwise incurable disease. (Bensoussan, 2002) There are billions of nerve cells in a human brain. Neurodegenerative diseases, like Parkinson s and Huntington s disease cause the selective loss of approximately 500,000 cells in the brain which once performed critical functions. (Bachoud Levi, 2000) The loss of these cells results in result in devastating, oftentimes fatal symptoms. The course of these disease is often gradual and occurs over many years, producing an overall deterioration of motor skills and brain function. While the cause of neurodegenerative diseases has been theorized, the specifics of the causes are unknown. (Ezzell, 1992) Less than five percent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abortions, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother, has become a controversial issue in American society, but should be generally supported because women should have the choice on how they choose their eggs to go on, whether it be to end further growth of the fetus or not. Women have a right to control what happens in and with their body. Being a pro choice defender means taking sympathies to this woman while she then gets called a murderer by pro life supporters. Abortions sometimes results in the woman being harassed because of the choice she has made about her own body. That s what pro life supports. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 46. Art In The Tempest Art In Shakespeare s The TempestArt in The Tempest is experienced in three different forms as music, drama, and indeed, rhetoric. Moreover, magic is accepted as a form of art in the play. Various characters manifest these three different forms for various purposes. However, the greatest one of them all is Prospero s magic. While this magic is the element that makes the plot going in the first place, drama intertwined with rhetoric is the actual art form behind Prospero s power. Throughout the play, Prospero carries out a grand plan on the people who have betrayed him years ago. This grand plan reminds the reader of a play, as if Prospero is assuming the role of a playwright and the characters of The Tempestare the characters of his play. Mediation is as a self determinative and typically voluntary process which encourages disputing parties to negotiate, with the support of a mediator, based upon conflicting interests. The ultimate function of mediation is to gain a mutually agreeable outcome. Facilitative, as opposed to advisory, or evaluative, mediation is a self determinative dispute resolution process which encourages involvement. My group consisted of two mediators, James Musgrave and Jake Lengui, and two parties which were allocated to Lauren Bicknell and myself. The scenario was uniform for all groups in my tutorial, revolving around a conflict of interest between Sam and Pat. Sam, who was a violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and Pat, who had a full time job as a writer, were neighbours who rented an apartment a conflict subsequently developed over noise. Both parties in this scenario require uninterrupted work on their respective jobs, with Pat working against the clock to finish his latest manuscript and Sam practicing for an important upcoming concert. Without some of the research methods that we have, many cases would never get solved, and they would be in the cold case files. In this paper, I will discuss new terminology and how it helps one who is in the criminology field. I would most definitely pick the person who knew more about the force and what goes on inside the force over someone who did not. The price of grapes depends based on how the grapes were treated prior to being sold. This has an effect on how much it cost to produce the wine, but it also affects how much the wine will cost to the consumer. There is a price different between fresh grapes and grapes that have been processed. In 2009 the average price for one ton of grapes was around $505. When examining the cost of producing wine there are many factors in which you have to look at. Factors many include but are not limited to, the grapes, the process of fermentation, the storage, the labor and time, the bottling/packaging, and of course the shipping of the products to the customers. The total cost of wine in California in 2009 was around 1.7 billion dollars, which included the production of 3.4 million tons of wine grapes. The pricing for the products themselves are harder to approximate.
