Religion Is Not A Problem With Religion
Religion can unquestionably establish bonds amongst communities and societies. The encouraging
role of faith has tended to be overlooked due to other world affairs. Emile Durkheim summarised
religion as body of practices and beliefs that act as a basis of identification. Therefore theoretical
understandings can demonstrate that terrorism is not a problem with religion. Durkheim went
further by declaring that religion maintains social order and allows for social cohesion
(Boundless, 2015). According to Emile Durkheim all societies have religion which offers meaning
to life as well as enforcing religious morals and norms respectably. Similarly German sociologist
Max Weberconcluded that religion brings meaning to life through specific codes of conducts.
Guidelines are set in order to follow the desired behaviour. This becomes a central element as
Weber believes that humans have always been challenged by crisis which is logically acceptable
(Priya, 2014). As opposed to religion being a problem, scholars have forwarded the idea that
faith controls order and impacts how one is to live in the expectation of a successful afterlife.
Religion also makes us put up with inequalities because of the concept of afterlife. This questions
if terrorism is a problem with a religion. A database was gathered showing terrorist attacks on
American soil from 1980 to 2005. In response to the media effect, data presented considerably
different findings. A figure of 13% was the amount in which

Radio Communications For Public Safety
Radio Communications for Public Safety

Introduction
Standards need to be set in order to handle current capabilities and handle the demands of what is
to come. Standards that come with radio communication have been around for a while and one
of those standards includes Public safety radio services. This standard was created for a given
scenario were the government would have to send out a message to inform the public. Any
agencies that deal with public safety are required to meet this standard. You may here these
messages come across the radio in states of emergency and see tests on your television. This
standard is known as SO 04 005 for communications involving radio. The standard has to meet all
of the ANSI/TIA/EIA 102 standards, also has to have the capability of using the existing 800 MHz
bandwidth, and has to work with interface devices that are present know and to come in the future.
This paper will cover ANSI/TIA/EIA 102 standards that are to meet. Section 1 will discuss the Open
Systems Intercommunication (OSI) model for communication systems. Section 2 will look at
Analog to Digital Converters for transmission and reception using digital communication. Section 3
will include modulation standards. Section 4 will contain linking and Section 5 encryption
standards.

Examples Of Class Structure In Sons And Lovers
D.H Lawrence s Sons and Lovers takes us back to the heart of industrialization the age where
people were more concerned with money, power and class. In the first chapter the use of THE
BOTTOMS , Hell Row and Bestwood signifies different areas where people belonging to
different ranks lived. We come to know that Mrs. Morel is being forced to move into a new
residence at The Bottoms and for her this is a great loss. Bestwood might not have been a great
place for her but at least it was a better place than The Bottom which was now on the edge of its
destruction. Mr. Morel and Mrs. Morel are the perfect example of the tragedy that the class
system brings. The first chapter gives us an insight into Mrs. Morel s class we discover that
Mrs. Morel came of a good old burgher family (Lawrence 33) thus pointing out that Mrs. Morel s
ideal s and manners were completely different from those of Mr. Morel. We also get to know that
the thing which pleases Mr. Morel most about Mrs. Morel was When she spoke to him, it was with
a southern pronunciation and a purity of English which thrilled him to hear (Lawrence 36). The
word purity holds great significance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The class difference ends up ruining Mr. and Mrs. Morel s marriage. William ends up getting
engaged to a girl he can t really tolerate and he does not want to call of the engagement because
he feels it is too late. Industrialization ends up transforming Mr. Morel from a healthy person into
the picture of an ugly human. He has to work in unsanitary conditions and he often becomes a
victim of accidents. Even Paul ends up becoming pale and weak after a while because he has to
work in the factory. Lawrence through this novel tells us how dangerous industrialization can be
and what kind of harmful effects it can have since Lawrence himself worked in a factory therefore
through Paul he might be relating his own

Stereotypes In The Blind Side
Film Analysis: The Blind Side When we are born into this world, her have no self identity.
Through years of personal relationships we develop our self image. Throughout the move The
Blind Side, relationships are developed that help create a new self concept for Michael Oher, an
African American teen stuck in a detrimental environment. By the breaking of stereotypes,
improving self esteem, first impressions, and the opening of the self concept, Michael, with help
from the Touhy family, is able to escape his old past and his old self. By using effective
communication, Michael is able to create a new positive image about himself. Early in the movie
we find out that Michael s self esteem is basically destroyed by his past home life. Michael has no
true guidance from his parents or guardians. The people around him gives him no hope in
improving either himself or his life. The situation in which he lives causes Michael to have a bad

Michael, within the family, was able to develop interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships with

the importance of teamwork and that if he wanted to succeed in life that he could no longer go
through life alone. He would have to reach out to people and ask for help. Through these

Harvey Milk And Its Impact On The Gay Community
A man by the name of Harvey Milk has left a mark on those in support of and the community of
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) worldwide. Harvey Milk served as the first
openly gay individual to be elected into public office. Harvey Milk left a positive impact on the
gay community and the Castro district of San Francisco through his contributions in politics and
stance as an openly gay man. He can also be attributed to being the most influential gay individual
to hold political office in United States history.
Harvey Milk was born in Woodmere, New York to a Jewish family. He played football and
enjoyed opera in high school, however he hid his love for opera from his friends (Shilts 1982:
8). Although he acknowledged himself as a homosexual in high school, he kept it a secret from
everyone else. He attended the New York State College for Teachers in Albany where he majored
in Mathematics and minored in History. Upon graduation, Milk entered the United States Navy
serving during the Korean War. He served the nation for four years and was then discharged from
the Navy as a junior grade lieutenant for suspicion of homosexuality.
Homosexuality was looked down upon in this time period. A person could be arrested, even on
suspicion of homosexual status. A homosexual risked a police raid by going to a gay bar during
the 1950s. The fear and anxiety of being raided by the police, pushed many into nearby parks and
many retreating to parties in private homes. Harvey did

Summary and Critique of The Gift of Sex Essay
A Book Review of The Gift of Sex University Abstract This paper is a summary of the book The
Gift of Sex along with my responses for each section in the book. Along with the physical aspect
of sex, there is a spiritual aspect of sex, which is mostly neglected by today s culture and even by
Christians. The authors believe that sex is also a spiritual and emotional act, involving the total
person, the body, soul and spirit. There is a connection with the sexual relationship of a husband
and his wife, and the intimate relationship of God and man. Revelation of this reality would bring
freedom and fulfillment in God and in marriage. There are many aspects to a sexual relationship
between a husband and wife,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scriptures such as Jeremiah 7:9, 23:10; Isaiah 62:5; and the entire book of Hosea reveal that the
relationship of God and His people is compared to a marriage relationship. The symbolism of the
bride and groom is depicted in the New Testament in scriptures such as Ephesians 5 and
Revelation 19:6 7. The authors believe that sex is not just for unity and procreation, but also for
pleasure in the marriage relationship. The Song of Songs is poetry of the erotic relationship
between a man and his wife, which is filled with passionate feelings. Christ has broken down the
barriers between men and women, and therefore they do not have to live by different standards
of sexual pleasure any longer. Men and women are equal in terms of value, ability, and position
before God. Therefore, both husband and wife are commanded to give themselves to each other
in marriage, with love being the guiding principle for sexual behavior. Penner and Penner (2003)
believe that, it is important for Christian couples to understand the Bible s pro sex message
(Kindle Location 425). I agree that sexuality reflects an aspect of the image of God in us and I
believe that the church should openly speak out about the biblical perspective of the gift of sex.
The concept of marriage is portrayed in the relationship the church has with Christ. God desires an
intimate relationship with each one of us; one that reflects the depth of a sexual relationship
between a man and a woman. Sexual

Did the Romans civilise Britain
This essay is about how Britain changed Britain, and how they brought civilisation to it. The
definition of civilisation has been questioned over the centuries. There are many different
meanings of the word but in the Romans case it is The type of culture and society developed by
a particular nation or in a particular era or time. In other words, this is what the Romans did to
Britain. In particular, I will discuss the Roman invasion and the effect the Romans had on
housing and roads. Before the Romans invaded, Celts lived in Britain. There were no towns so
most people lived in villages and were farmers. People were separated into tribes ruled by kings or
chiefs. Chiefs were the leaders in battle; they would lead warriors into battle in... Show more

The Romans brought lots of things that we take for granted every day. For example calendars,
the census, indoor plumbing, fruit and vegetables, the police and even cats! One of the most
influential things the Romans did for Britain was build roads. When the Romans established in
Britain they built lots of high quality straight roads. The main roads that the Romans built were
from London to York (via Lincoln), London to Wroxeter (a village in Shropshire), London to
Dover and Exeter to York via Bath, Cirencester and Lincoln. The new roads meant that it was
much easier and simpler for the emperors to control their empire. This was because they could
send messages and orders quickly. The roads helped Romans to trade with each other. They also
provided people with a much easier option than to walk. The roads were mainly built by Roman
soldiers as the authorities could guarantee that the Roman soldiers would do the best they could
for the sake of Rome. The Roman roads were used a lot but many had to walk as chariots and
horses were expensive. In spite of all the work that was put in with the Roman roads, when they
left Britain the Britons did not make use of the roads. The Britons did not use the villas or baths
either because of their close association to the Romans. Moreover the Britons did not have any
knowledge of how to repair the roads because they

Exotic Pet Ownership
Humans should be allowed to do anything that they re capable of doing. Therefore, if humans can
tame/control an exotic animal to satisfy our own needs humans should be able to. It s believed that
the ownership of exotic pets should either be banned, or it should have increased license
requirements to own an exotic pet. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts,
why not to place restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution
placed in order to ensure that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone
looking to own an exotic pet should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban
the ownership of these exotic petsfor that s restrictive on human aspirations. Restricting human
choice shouldn t be acceptable unless a human s choice(s) reduces another s capabilities. Humans
are at a point where nothing is above our species, therefore, if the capabilities of these exotic
animals aren t enough to keep them from us, then humans do whatever they like. Currently, the
issue isn t what it seems. The licences to own exotic pets vary widely in terms of requirements
placed on the owner and the amount of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Farmers In The Late 1800s Essay
In the late 19th century, farmers all over the country were filled with discontent due to the rough
financial and agricultural conditions they were experiencing on the farm. As far back as the
Homestead Act of 1862, which gave families land grants west of the Mississippi, farmers have
been migrating West. Manifest Destiny was driving these families west creating jobs and
opportunities, which had greatly impacted the time. This period before the late 1800s had
produced high numbers of wheat, agricultural technology, and success for hard working farmers.
The perfect life started to disintegrate with the increase of farmers, and the high amount of wheat
being sold. With wheat prices dropping, farmers going into debt, and businesses controlling the
economy, the farmers were starting to experience hardships like never before. This was the start
of the depression of 1893. Farmers had experienced a number of problems during this time, but the
conflicts of the Bimetallic Standard in currency, the overpowering big businesses, and the lack of
government interference had contributed greatly to the validity of the farmers argument. Currency
during the late 1800s was always a topic of great conflict between the different classes of people.
The document The platform of the People s Party 1892 stated The Newspapers are largely
subsidized or muzzled, public opinion silenced, business prostrated, homes covered with mortgages,
labor impoverished, and the land concentration in the hands of

Honey Bee Virulence Report
Discussion With this information, it can help build the foundations needed to find anti virulence
factors against P. larvae to reduce the need for antibiotics. The current treatments options available
for AFB are becoming progressively obsolete due to antibiotic resistance. Honey bee colonies are
constantly exposed to these antibiotics until approximately two weeks before the honey is collected
(Caron and Connor, 2013). As mentioned previously, this is the only effective way of killing the
vegetative cells, but not the spores. The spores still persist within the colony and once the
bacterium becomes resistant to treatment, it results in disastrous outcomes (Caron and Connor,
2013). Therefore, treatments that could neutralize these virulence factors should be sought after.
Also, with the use of antibiotics, there are possibilities of toxic residues being found in the honey.
This could take a devastating toll on the individuals who consume this hive product. Therefore, the
need for natural treatments are becoming popular because of regulations related... Show more

It provides the necessary knowledge of whether or not honey bee larvae can survive and develop in
a laboratory setting. Once possible treatment options begin to emerge, the uninfected larvae could
be exposed to these alternatives. These larvae can be observed for any anomalies throughout the
developmental period to determine the effects of these potential treatments. Unfortunately, during
the experimental process none of the larvae made it to the adult stage in the control plate. This was
partly due to the development of mold during the larval stage. With the elevated humidity levels
and the presence of condensation within the incubator, it provided optimal conditions for mold
growth. The mold caused undesirable larval death for almost half of the larvae; therefore, it may

customers in this industry, which makes the customers not very powerful.
b. I believe the customers do make high volume purchases, which would make them powerful.

e.The tobacco growers (suppliers) do not have differentiation in their product. This weakens their
power because the tobacco industry does not have to pay more for the tobacco because it is
basically all the same.
f.It is not costly to switch suppliers. Some companies choose to switch to a less expensive supplier
in order to lower the cost of their products. This weakens the power of the suppliers.
g.The suppliers can not easily vertically integrate forward and become their own customer because
of the many costs in manufacturing tobacco.
h.Overall, I believe the suppliers are highly powerful in the tobacco industry.
Existing Industry Competitors
a. Overall, the growth rate of the industry is moderate. Tobacco consumption is rising rapidly in
developing countries. However, in the U.S. cigarette consumption has been slipping by about two
percent per year. This means that there is a moderate level of competition for the existing tobacco
industry competitors.
b.There is a mixture of fixed costs and variable costs associated with this industry. This keeps
competition at a moderate level because the companies want to increase sales possibly by lowering
costs and still earn a profit.
c.There is a high

Boredom Is A State Of Mind
Boredom is a state of mind that hinders everyone at some point in life. I find that I encounter
boredom most during the summer when I am free from the constraints of school and social life.
This state of mind could lead someone to do some pretty outrageous things, whether that be very
small or life changing. Life could completely change because of one stupid mistake made when
bored. When looking back before the mistake, it seems a lot better than it does now. I have
experienced an instance similar to the one described. It was during the summer of 2016, and I was
going through a state of boredom. I had the mindset that anything is better than the feeling of
boredom, even pain. There was a week, during the summer in particular, when my thoughts and
mindset really affected me. I felt like I was wasting my life by not doing things with my time. I
know this is a drastic response to a couple weeks of boredom; however, I tried to spend time with
my best friend, but she was busy working and our plans always seemed to fall through. All I
wanted was to be alone to sulk about my boring and uneventful life. I found the perfect spot to do
just that; it was the roof of my house. There was a different atmosphere when I sat on the roof; I
felt truly alone with my thoughts. I visited this spot multiple times during the week when life
seemed too heavy to hold.
Thursday was the day of the accident. I was frustrated with my life. I spent the majority of my time
in school, and when I finally

Spoon River Anthology Summary
In Edgar Lee Masters Spoon River Anthology, Margaret Fuller Slack is an aspiring writer, whose
notions of future greatness are foiled by, on a surface level, her marriage, and children. As a result,
Margaret is bitter, resentful, and accusatory. In actuality, Margaret and her notion of personal
privilege destroy her future. Masters poem is a cautionary tale regarding entitlement and laziness,
an acknowledgment of the necessity of personal responsibility, and an example of a wasted life.
Masters opens this poem with Margaret discussing her fantasies, her delusions. Margaret compares
her own greatness to George Eliot, famed female novelist. This allusion that Margaret wanted to be

Margaret was wooed and John was luring her into the relationship, into the trap (8, 9). The
connotation of these words creates an air of trickery around John, developing the emphasis that
even though Margaret could have said no, her failure is now his fault. She discloses that the way
he lured her was through the promise of leisure for [her] novel (9). The couple gets married and they
have eight kids. This allows the reader to see that John had genuine intentions, but Margaret s
bitterness interrupts this. Even though it takes two people to make a family, Margaret blames
something she should be thankful for, but resents, on her husband. Her facade further crumples
when she addresses the fact that she did not have time to write, but many people who have and
care for children are able to make something out of themselves. Essentially Margaret is playing
victim to things she is not a victim of. The only factor standing in Margaret s way is her own
ego. She might think she is too good, that her talent supersedes practice and experience, or she
might just be lazy, but in the end, it is she who chooses not to write. If one has a genuine goal,
regardless of inconveniences, time and effort will always be applied; ergo, Margaret does not have
a goal, only an illusion. Consequently, Margaret s world unravels with her death. Margaret is
tremendously nonchalant about her demise: It was all over... anyway (12). This word choice

Adaptation In The Tempest
The Tempest is believed to be the final play written by English playwright William Shakespeare
(Arnold 2009: 1). This allegorical play takes place on an exotic island and describes the master
slave relationship between Prospero the virtuous ruler and Caliban the ugly evil. Approximately
three and a half centuries later, French poet and author AimГ© CГ©saire, who objected to
colonialismand was concerned about post colonial issues, published A Tempest ( Une TempГ
Єte ),
a post colonial adaptation of Shakespeare s work.
While the two plays share the same characters and provokes similar ideal dichotomies of master
and slave; colonizer and colonized; natural and supernatural (Chan 2008: 1), there are differences,
for instance, Caliban becomes a Black slave and the ending is changed in CГ©saire s version.
Based on these alterations, some consider A Tempest not a translationof The Tempest but rather an
adaptation that stands on its own, independent of the original. In response to this view, this paper
attempts to examine the relationship between the two versions and analyze in what ways A
Tempest can and cannot be regarded a translation of The Tempest. The reason to view CГ©saire s
work not as a translation of Shakespeare s but as an adaptation only will first be presented. How the

The association of length of residency with attitudes toward publicly provided community wide
services has long been documented in the literature outside of economics (Kelsy 1998; Spain 1993).
Within economics _and despite the ubiquitous studies in the valuation literature that address
preference heterogeneity as it relates to measures of socioeconomic status (e.g. age, gender,

The first approach uses years of residency in the town as a continuous predictor. The second
approach categorizes this continuous predictor and create indictors to allow for discrete shifts

The Little League Event I Was Very Hot Day For Everyone
The little league event I was working at was very hot day for everyone. I received a call from
Helen regarding that she needed scissors to cut off zip ties that were holding a canopy that she
was told to bring back with Bryson. I had not been informed that Mr.Winn told our ambassadors
that he had sent them on their own to go pick up the canopy on their own, without supervision. I
was currently watching the game, while keeping my eyes on Amber and Dajah who were policing
people from coming inside the baseball area with outside food. When I went to give the scissors to
Helen and Bryson, I had notice that the gate was shut to enter the dugoutarea where they were
retrieving the canopy. I had asked them how did they get through the closed gate. They had told me
that they had climbed over to get to the other side. At that point when they told me, I felt very
concerned because they could have gotten hurt and I had not know where they were because
Mr.Winn had got out of his way to use his authority to have our ambassadors complete a task
without my supervision or by my word. I told Helen and Bryson to climb back over and not to
worry about the canopy anymore because it was to complicated for them to retrieve it. The
canopy was also broken and they were using sticks to hold it open. That is also an issue because
the ambassadors could hurt themselves trying to take down the canopy and no was there their to
help them out because they need 4 people taking down a canopy to hold each

Thousand Cranes Research Paper
The novel Thousand Cranes by Yasunari Kawabata exposes the emerging movement from tradition
to westernization in post war Japan. Kawabata enriches his novel with a variety of intricate
relationships between children and their parents, exposing how the loss of tradition begins at home.
Ironically, Kawabata then depicts how even teachers of tradition manipulate it with their hate and
jealousy to achieve their sinister motives, tainting the new generation s knowledge of tradition and
thus moving them away from it. The movement away from tradition allows the new generation to
easily recognize and be influenced by the newfound westernization in post war Japan. Through

From the beginning, Kikuji is portrayed as a non customary individual who Mrs. Ota recognizes
as a perfect example of his father, although he does not perceive himself this way. He states that
he had been led easily into the other world...in which there was no distinction between his father
and himself (Kawabata 62). The other world symbolizes the western world that he was led to by
the loss of tradition, which is provoked by his father s lack of teaching and Chikako s misuse of
the tea ceremony. Kikuji s loss of tradition provokes him to further recognize the westernization
surrounding him as he becomes more familiar to the western culture and less with Japanese
tradition. He illustrates that as the western sun poured into [Tokyo]...[he looked] down from the
crowded train, he felt that the avenue alone floated in this strange time of evening, that it had been
dropped here from some foreign country (Kawabata 45). The western sun represents the western
influence on the infrastructure of Tokyo that is so strong Kikuji feels that he is in a foreign country.
Therefore, as Kikuji begins to lose his tradition and recognize the western influences on Japan s
infrastructure, it successfully exposes the shift from tradition to westernization in postwar Japan.
Kikuji is not the only individual of the new generation to portray and recognize

The Factors Of Life Decisions And Bad Eating Habits
The Factors Of Life Throughout this activity I have learned that the life decisions and bad eating
habits that you make do not only affect your health, but trickle down and become hereditary
health problems for people in your family. In which some hereditary health problems can be
controlled and some are uncontrollable. It was also very relevant that weight and your work
place have a huge factor to play with your longevity of your life. If you don t work out and
maintain a healthy lifestyle it takes tremendous years off your life. This is due to movement
being life and constantly staying active to insure the healthiest state of your body so that it may
thrive. Being sedentary without a lot of movement is more common today in people who work
at desk jobs. The effects of sitting most of the day seem to be that more people are obese, than
someone who s always on their feet moving around. I ve also noticed that women also have a
longer life expectancy than man do which was very surprising. This was surprising because I
thought that men and women s longevity was around the same, based on their environment and
lifestyle. Though in every category I reviewed their projected longevity was 3 or more years.
Throughout this paper I will be talking about some of the leading factors and trends that effect and
advance the longevity of life from this activity. Some factors of hereditary history that can affect
your longevity can be things like diabetes, which are very prominent in

Snowball Short Story
One day, in 4th grade during winter time, me and my friends were playing in the snow. Me and
my friends were athletic, so we spent a lot of time outside. The air was biting at our noses, and
snowmen with orange noses and piles of snowballs behind snow walls littered the area. Snowballs
zoomed across the yard, occasionally decapitating a snowman, or exploding on someone s jacket. I
threw my hardest snowball, aimed directly for someone s back. As he reached down to get
another snowball, the snowball kept going. My snowball had shattered a window. Everyone
quickly dispersed and ran to the end of the street, and met up. I was nervous and embarrassed.
You almost hit me with that! My friend exclaimed. I m sorry, but please don t say anything, I
pleaded, The snowball will melt, and our parents won t know what happened. This isn t gonna
work, you re going to get us in trouble. My friend retorted. Nobody s gonna find out. I repeated.
After a day or two, my parents had heard that our neighbor s window had broken. They asked me
if I had heard anything about it, but I simply said no. When I got to school, my friends continued
to urge me to confess, but I would not budge. Another couple of days passed, and me and my
friends were hanging out again. This time our parents were there and seemed angry. They knew
where we were when the window broke, and so they knew one of us had broken it, but they didn t
know who. Everyone glanced at me, but I still did not talk. This went

A Tale Of Commodities And Relevance
A Tale of Commodities and Relevance In Margaret Atwood s book, The Handmaid s Tale, the
women in the book often find themselves at the mercy of men and being used for the purpose of
fulfilling man s needs. They are more seen as property, than as humans themselves. The women
are systemically ranked for amount of use in the household and women who can give birth are
often high ranked, but not given much freedom. Over they do everything and are allowed
nothing. The woman are not allowed to read, have their own money, or to normal jobs outside
of being maids or cooks. The woman are often ranked in terms of colors with wives wearing
blue, handmaids wear red, Maratha s wearing green and Ecowives wearing stripes. The women
are often seen as commodities and only relevant to the needs of man. The Ceremony is the act in
which the Commander, his wife(Serena Joy), and the Handmaid(Offred) attempt to make a
baby. While the women are both needed to be present, nether are required to enjoy the act or to
orgasm, the man s orgasm is the only important part of the act, seeing as he need s to orgasm to
get Offred pregnant. When in turn the act for all three of them is simply a duty to be done.
Offred see s the act as her duty, because she is a Handmaid and that is her single goal: To get
pregnant, but she does recognize it is a goal and duty for the Commander also, This is not
recreation, even for the Commander. This is serious business. The Commander, too, is doing his
duty.

Mass Migrations During The Harlem Renaissance
The mass migrations of blacks into Harlem happened around the early 1900 as living conditions
worsen in other parts of the country. Specifically, the KKK in South Carolina, and racial
segregation and biases across the south enforced by the Jim Crow Laws, forced black families to go
north in search of better housing, jobs and education for their children, and more so, to move away
from a culture of lynching and violence. They did not anticipate the violent situations they would
face in the North. Due to discrimination they were pushed further and further up Manhattan and
into neighborhoods that were over concentrated with blacks and minorities. At times, they faced

In spring 2003, the Sudanese government promised land to Arab tribes who agreed to control the

Benefits Of A Unified Salary Schedule
There are many advantages and disadvantages to a single, unified salary schedule. These types of
salary schedules only recognize years of service and amount of education to determine salary
amounts for all certified staff. Each salary schedule has strengths and areas of improvement, and
analysis of the salary schedule will highlight these areas. Salary schedules, including Hollister
RV School District s, only require teachers to remain employed thorough the school year to earn
a raise in pay for the next year, automatically moving to the next step on the salary schedule. Pay
increases also are earned by moving to the next lane or column based on the hours of graduate
credit completed toward an advanced degree, such as a Masters, Specialist, or Doctoral degree.
Hollister RV School District s certified staff s salary schedule discloses several areas of
exceptionality, highlighting what is important to the District. However, there are also areas to be
improved, including recruitment and retention (Hollister RV School District, 2016). One
exceptional characteristic of the salary schedule is that the vertical steps carry the same monetary
value as the horizontal columns with the exception of completing a Master s degree or a
Specialist degree. This salary schedule indicates an equal value is placed on service and completed
education. Upon completing a degree, staff salaries increase $960 instead of the $480 earned by
simply accumulating additional hours of education.

Tybalt Capulet In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Running head: TYBALT ANALYSIS IN ROMEO AND JULIET PLAY 1
Tybalt Capulet s Contribution to the Overall Theme of the Play
James Madison High School
Richard Altman
Tybalt Capulet s Contribution to the Overall Theme of the Play: Romeo and Juliet.
The title of the play is Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. Love and fate is the
major theme outlined in the play. TybaltCapulet, Juliet s cousin, is a secondary character to the
play with overwhelming contributions in the play. He was known for his testosterone motivation
and his handiness with the sword. He killed Mercutio, who was Romeo s friend, in a street brawl.
In return, Romeo stabbed him to death. This led to Romeo being banished from Verona. After
Romeo s banishment, Juliet s parents arranged her a wedding with Paris. She, in turn, made a plan
to fake her death for 42 hours. Romeo came back and found Juliet dead and killed himself
(Shakespeare, 1597). Tybalt Capulet, although a secondary character, started the chain of reaction
that turned the happy marriage of Romeo and Juliet into fateful occurrences. He created the theme
of fate and vehemently, built the theme of love between Romeo and Juliet. ... Show more content on

was started by Tybalt because, if he couldn t have killed Mercutio, Romeo won t have committed

Socrates Wise Endurance Quote
1.
i.Socrates argument: Endurance must be wise to be courage.
a.Endurance of the soul is courage.
b.Courage is very fine (192c7).
c.Endurance and wisdom is fine and noble (192c9).
d.Endurance and folly is harmful and injurious (192d).
i.This premise contradicts his argument therefore folly can never accompany endurance and must
be deleted as a premise.
I agree with this logic since Socrates uses terms that Laches defines. By Laches definitions Socrates
accurately describes premises that disprove Laches argument. One can clearly see how the premises
result in that conclusion. ii. Socrates argument: Courage is foolish endurance. This refutes Laches
revised argument, courage is wise endurance of the soul. The point of the refutation is to prove that
courage has nothing to do with endurance regardless if it is wise or foolish and that another
definition must be devised.
a.Not all wise endurance is courage (192e). In the example of the man who perseveres in spending
his money wisely, Laches states that man is not in fact courageous despite fitting his definition of
courage.
b.Those with less wisdom (fools) who still choose to endure a situation are courageous. ... Show

Socrates asks Nicias to revise his statement to include the idea that knowledge entails the past,
present, and future. This is necessary because fear and hope only regards the future goods and
evils whereas knowledge itself regards the good and evils at all times and that knowledge is the
same at all times. Therefore it is not necessary to single out a particular time regarding knowledge.
By doing this, he also manages to clarify what fear and hope means so that everyone is on the same
page. Additionally, they can eventually connect courage to virtuethrough the revised definition
since that is what courage is claimed to be a part of. I believe this is necessary because you cannot

Social Media is used to provide information about a particular disaster and in turn receive
feedback, messages, comments and posts from users. The use of social media as an emergency
weapon for communication is increasing and readily available to post emergency information in
turn receiving assistance requests from affected people, using images uploaded to estimate the
damage caused and how to come to aid with these conditions.
But is social media actually capable of helping those affected in disasters through the Internet
forum?
The use of social media during natural calamities at all levels local or international has
successfully widened and expressed interest concerning how social media very soon will be used to
come in terms with recovery of affected regions and cultural monuments because of disaster.
Taking the recent natural disaster, an earthquake with massive magnitude that affected Nepal as an
example we examine the benefits of using social media as a platform with its implication in context
to natural disasters.
Introduction:
The use of social media is not restricted by geographical boundaries; it is used to interact with

Essay On Satyam Scandal
RECOMMENDATION
The 2009 Satyam scandal in India has highlighted the shameful potential of an improperly
governed corporate leader. Some recommendations can be made from the mistakes learnt from the
scandal to further avoid such mishaps. First, all inaccuracies are to be investigated as a lot of fraud
schemes initially start out small, with the thought that small changes here and there would not
make a big difference, and is less likely to be detected. The fraud scheme at Satyam started very
small that eventually grew into $276 million. Second, Corporate Governance needs to be Stronger

Depression Among Older Adults
Alcohol is often associated as a mild case among substance use disorders despite that there are
many persons diagnosed with alcohol use. Based on the survey conducted by the World Health
Organization (2005), the worldwide per capita consumption of alcoholic beverages equaled 6.13
litres of pure alcohol consumed by every person aged 15 years or older. Likewise, it was
reported that each person consumes 28.6% or 1.76 litres of homemade and illegally produced
alcohol and is considered unrecorded alcohol. Since most studies on alcohol abuse focuses on
the younger generations, only few literatures were found on cases among older adults. Elderly
people are hospitalized due to alcohol abuse due to higher sensitivity and poorer ability to

Cooperative Learning Is A Revolutionary Style Of Teaching...
Cooperative learning is a revolutionary style of teaching that offers students a chance to work
together, communicate, build social skills, and acquire self confidence. It is important to inspire
students to be excited about learning and to encourage their involvement in the learning process.
There are many studies that offer important information and have determined that cooperative
learningnot only helps students improve academically, but that it also shows that students take
pride in the fact they can cooperate and complete something together. Educators need to open the
doors for students to have the opportunity to understand cooperative learning and become efficient
with it. Offering students a chance to grow socially, academically, and understand the values of
communication and teamwork is important for their future.
Our educational system is one of the most influential molds for young members of our society.
How children learn and grow influences the future and it is important for them to learn as much
information and skills as possible. However, education is not just about learning facts and
classroom material. One of the most important lessons students can learn is to work together,
which will be very important as they grow and enter the working world. The process of teaching
how to utilize groups and hands on activities is called cooperative learning. Cooperative learning is

Essay on Analyis of Knowledge of a Possibility by JUllary...
The value of literature as a source of knowledge is a timeless debate that varies depending on
how knowledge is defined. I will adopt Hillary Putnam s theory of Knowledge of a Possibility
(Putnam 488) in Literature Science, and Reflection (1976), and focus on the value of literature as a
source of conceptual knowledge. The emergence of the novelbrought with it conventions for a
more realistic writing style that aimed to appeal to the common readers. Variations of the degree
of realism ranged from writing that tried to present a fully authentic experience of life, known as
Formal Realism, and writing that offers some authentic aspects of life but also conserves
characteristics of classic genres of epics and romances. These... Show more content on

The criterion for knowledge is rather complex and Putnam addresses literary knowledge in both
the empirical and conceptual elements (Putnam 488). On the one hand, there are the conceptual
elements of knowledge, those that can be considered knowledge of possibility (Putnam 488) that
allow us to think of new possibilities through conceptual discovery (Putnam 488). Conceptual
knowledge allows readers to get a sense of what something is like or provide insight to another
person s beliefs. There are not necessarily claims to truth in this form of knowledge, but in some
instances the hypotheses we obtain from literature may be tested confirmed through personal
experience, and consequently may be confirmed or falsified. On the other hand there is empirical
knowledge, which is gained through observations, scientific experimentation, and evidence. In this
context, Putnam rejects the ability of literature to provide readers with empirical knowledge. In
his example about The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing, Putnam suggests that the book
provides knowledge of what it was like to be a communist in the 1940s (Putnam 489) but offers a
disclaimer you may say to yourself this is what it must have been like; but...you have no right to
say I know what this is what it was like (Putnam 489). Despite this distinction, Putnam still asserts
the value of knowledge in literature Dorris

The Lottery Short Story Analysis
Shirley Jackson s short story The Lottery is about an unusual traditionalistic small town that
ironically gives the lottery a bad meaning. In the beginning of the story Jackson makes sure to
describe the setting of the story. Jackson starts the story off by saying The morning of June 27th
was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day (1). This quote is very
misleading because Jackson gives her audience a false sense of a welcoming environment. The town
seems to be stuck in this traditionalistic way of doing things. When you think of the lotteryone
automatically thinks of money, but this story focuses more on the tragedy of the town. The
story sets place in the town square with the towns people all gathered to carry out the lottery.
The year is not stated but based on the description of the town s people one can assume that it is
post war time. We learn that the lottery is not a one town event, but it is conducted across
several towns. We expect it to be familiar to everyone since it seems to be a fun time for all the
town members. The story talks about how children in the town are collecting stones before the
lottery begins. Mr. Summers the conductor of the lottery is responsible for getting everything
ready for the lottery. The lottery takes about 2 hours but some towns take sometimes even days.
Once all the slips of paper are mixed in the box all the people from the list come up and draw a slip.
During the lottery everyone

Differences And Comparison Of A Discourse Community
A discourse community is a group of people that share a set of values and goals. Members of a
discourse community have their own way of communicating within the group and with the public.
Although the communities may differ in subject matter and appearance, they do share varying
levels of similarities. The three discourse community that we will be focusing on are: art, research
biology and finance: specifically, the financial service sector. Furthermore, we will be comparing
the three discourse communities on: similarities among all the groups, similarities between each
group and the differences among all three. As stated in the preceding paragraph, all three discourse
communities share surprising similarities. They include: intercommunication within the
community, common public goals, methods of information, dispersion, critic, development of
goals, and levels of members with relevant discourse expertise.

When it comes to specific discourse communities, many have a preferred way of communicating.
For example, in the art community, emails are used more frequently than phone calls. Simply
because it is more convenient for many artists to email than to call other occupied artists. Like the
art community, emails are means of communication in the financial service sector, other channels of
communication comprise of: teleconferencing (webinars, Skype), written communication, Instant
messaging, texting and computer conferencing. The type of communication implemented varies
based on the richness (the amount of information available in a given channel), control (the degree
to which the communication process can be managed) and speed (the quickness a message
exchange occurs). Intercommunication is an integral part of discourse communities since it allows
people in a similar profession to communicate

Life Of Pi Rhetorical Analysis
1. Reason One of the most enjoyable aspects of the novel was the way Pi presents his point of
view in his telling of the story. In the earlier stages of the book Pi tells us of his discovery of
religion which he turns to for hope later on when the cargo ship him and his family travel on
sinks, leaving him orphaned and lost. Throughout the novel he retells the story of his survival
with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker and the situation of their survival. In the early days on
the boat there is a hyena, orangutan, and a zebra on the boat as well. The animals do not last
long as all three ends up dead as measures get more desperate. Pi s telling of the story has both
realistic and unrealistic elements. The actions of Richard Parker are typical of a Bengal tiger but
things such as a blind man in the middle of the sea or a carnivorous island make Pi s story less
believable. Once rescued, two insurance agents come to speak to Pi about the case of the ships
crash. During this time Pi tells them his story of survival on the lifeboat. They find it... Show more

This quote shows how belief has been present in Pi s life throughout his life and how he used it
in his survival. It is also a comment on how currently people have problems with belief in such a
time of reason. The mood of this quote seems to be one of frustrated confusion. Pi has always
had a strong set of beliefs and for someone not to believe what to him is clear frustrates him. He
speaks as though belief is right around the corner and the men are actively ignoring it. Pi knows
his beliefs and strives to show others its strength. Throughout the book Pi develops in several ways,
but his beliefs are the one thing that stay throughout his life. Pi deals with an immense amount of
loss and through his faith became a stronger person. Pi, just like most people has central morals and

Earth Is A 1998 Indian Period Drama Film Directed By Deepa...
Earth is a 1998 Indian period drama film directed by Deepa Mehta. The story is set in Lahore in
the time period directly before and during the partition of India in 1947. The film recounts the
holocaust of Partition through the eyes of Lenny, a crippled Parsi girl. Lenny s parents live in
Lahore with an army of servants, including the delectable ayah, a beautiful Hindu woman, Shanta.
The movie starts with Lenny revisiting her childhood days as a student coloring her drawing, and
remembering the downfall of British Empire in India as she states something which indicates the
theme of story that it will portray for next 101 minutes and upon which the story will build
around. The words she stated accounts as Hindu, Muslim and Sikhs who had lived together as
one entity for centuries suddenly started to clamor for pieces of India for themselves. The
arbitrary line of division the British would draw to carve up India in August of 1947 would scar
the subcontinent forever. This dialogue clearly states that India was very near to getting its
independence from the British Rule and for the final time the nation might have to become a victim
to British s much famous DIVIDE RULE policy which will blow the nation into partition forming 2
separate countries INDIA PAKISTANand in the dialogue she clearly predicts the ill effects people
will have to face at the time of partition as she says that it would scar the subcontinent forever.

The Apartheid Of Apartheid And Apartheid
Colonial inheritance has had a serious effect on all Africans lives and has irreversibly changed the
continent and its people forever. The impact of apartheid is evident when analyzing Mxolisi and
Nelson Mandela s lives. Both men were exposed to similar oppressive environments as they lived
in South Africaduring apartheid, though their stories show generational differences. Mandela was
an activist early in the apartheid regime and then spent a significant period of his life in jail until
the end of the regime as he took part in reassessment of apartheid and negotiations. Mxolisi was
born and raised during Apartheid and much of his experiences growing up took place while
Mandela was in jail. These two men were both victims of colonial inheritance and apartheid, which
lead them to extreme measures as they acted in protest of an oppressive government with the hope
that they might gain back power, rights, and freedom for themselves and the South African people.
Decolonization was sweeping across the African continent during the 1950 s and during this time in
South Africa, apartheid was being solidified by a white minority government. Early anti apartheid
struggles were predominantly non violent until the 1960 Sharpeville incident when police opened
fire on an unarmed group of demonstrators (Reid 292). Activists and groups such as the African
National Congress(ANC) became more violent because the government in charge was using violent
means to control them and their

The Alternatives Of Makeup Testing On Animals
Makeup testing on animals is when animals are utilized to test the safety and hypoallergenic
reaction of the products. In the United States animal testing is legal but regulated by The United
States Department of Agriculture (USDA) or the Animal Health Inspection Services (AHIS).
Regulations include the handle and care of the animal among all stages of life, and not being able
to use pets such as dogs, cats, horses, etc. for testing purposes. When makeup is tested on animals
they are harmed. Animals with harm include: inflamed skin, dry skin, bleeding, swollen eye,
blindness, and sometimes death. When a product does not go as planned, or the products is not
okay to use, it is usually told by the reaction of the animal being tested. Animals that are usually
used for makeup are smaller animals such as rats, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits. The reason
scientist uses animals to test makeup products, is because their skin and hair are so similar to
humans. According to the Humane society international, ...100,000 200,000 suffer and die every
year due to cosmetic testing. (Zuazua). There are alternatives for testing makeup on animals. Some
alternatives include methods that use human blood, cell lines, and artificial skin. Society is
beginning to become eco friendlier which is turning people s outlook on using products that test on
animals or not. Cosmetic testing is harmful due to the chemical reaction of a certain product. When

Essay On Broroca s Area Of The Brain
One important area of the brain that some would say is very important, would be Broca s area.
Broca s area is a functionally defined structure in the elft frontal lobe of most humans. It is involved
mainly in producing speech, writing, and also in language processing and comprehension. This part
of the brainwould be stimulated when a certain group of friends ask you to come over for pizza and
thoughout the night when the individuals are communicating. Without this portion of the brain
functioning as it should, one would not be able to communicate with others, the indivudal would
understand everything being said to them. However, when the indivual would go to speek, it would
sound as if the indivual was saying random words, making converstaion a excessivly harder.
Another region of the brain that would be stimulated would be the hippocampus.... Show more

limbic system, the hippocampus, and allows for the person to think back and determine if he or

Punishment In The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, there were different kinds of punishments that were used as a solution to
crimes that were being committed from theft to adultery. The three main types of punishment used
in the medieval times, were trial by ordeal, trial by jury and trial by combat. Some of these
punishments were unfair because sometimes, the accused wouldn t get punished, but the innocent
would. The most injustice punishment would be trial by ordeal.
A form of punishment during the middle ages was often a trial by ordeal. Trial by ordeal was a
method where the accused was given a rather brutal, and often deadly test to determine if they
were found innocent or guilty. Trial by ordeal, in my opinion was an unjustified way of deciding
guilt. For example, if someone was accused of doing witchcraft, they would be burned at the
stake. If the person miraculously survived, he or she would be found guilty and was to be
executed. But, if he or she burnt to death, the person would then be proven as innocent and
subjected to a proper burial. This is where the illogic of trial by ordeal comes in. Either way, this is

Before Charlemagne became king, the Frankish court system used a system called trial by ordeal.
An example of trial by ordeal would be if a peasant was accused for a crime, they would have to
hold a red, hot metal rod and walk around. They would then get their hand bandaged and if after
three days, your wounds weren t healed, you were guilty of the crime. Charlemagne didn t like
that system. He thought it unfair to expect a miracle to occur to prove your innocence. So
Charlemagne created a new system called trial by jury. Under this system, a group of learned men
would listen to the testimony and look at the evidence and then pronounce guilt or innocence. I
personally think trial by jury was the fairest of all the punishments, as it wouldn t involve illogical
ordeals and combats to determine who would win the

The And Of The Metal Ammonia
The rapid decreases in 5V as TMD, FeSc or host material is added to the metal ammonia,
10 suggest that the fraction of solvated electron is radiply decreasing. This means that these free
solvated electrons started to immigrant to host samples valence band or fermi band(see section
2.3.1) after that the guest spicies are nestled in the centers of the crystal structure of host spicies.
The intercalation of metal ammonia (if this clarication is correct) enhances the lattice match,
thereby advancing the intercalation process. To enhance the lattice match, the ions size of guest
material and the d spacing or c0 of host guets should be proportional to each others. Thus, the rst
one(ioniserted guest material) should be smaller than the later one, host material. Ions size may be
larger or smaller than the neutral atom, contin gent upon the ion s charge.
At the point when an atom loses an electron to edge a cation, the lost electron no more contributes
to shielding other electrons from the charge of the core; thus, alternate electrons are all the more
rmly pulled in to the core, and the diameter of the ion decreases. So also, when an electron is added
to an atom, framing an anion, the added electron shields alter nate electrons from the nucleus, with
the outcome that the extent of the atom increments[7].
In this report, the ion s size was estimated by using X ray s data and table 2 in section 2.3 con rms

Feminised Cannabis Seeds: An Emerging Sensation Among Marijuana Enthusiasts!
Feminised cannabis seeds have slowly but sturdily climbed to the top as being the best cannabis

seed is such, that to some extent the entire marijuana industry is predicated upon growing these
female plants. Furthermore, the name feminised comes from the fact that with the help of these
cannabis seeds only female marijuana plants can be grown.
These feminised seeds generally signify premium quality and in genetics of marijuana seeds.
Another reason for feminised cannabis seed s popularity can be attributed to the fact that, Unless
the grower is breeding marijuana strains, there s literally no use for male marijuana plants.

More control over breeding and cloning There is more freedom over cloning with feminised
plants, as the odds of getting a female plant are much higher compared to male seeds. Furthermore,
there s also an advantage of better control on breeding with feminised seeds.
3. Greater genetics Almost every strain, which is sold as feminised seeds, have their genetics
carefully controlled by the breeder for bringing out the defining characteristics of each strain.
Moreover, this helps the consumers to get more options to sink their teeth into. Add to that, these
plants will be more productive, powerful and aromatic compared to the male plants.
4. Less effort with the plants With feminised seeds, you are guaranteed that every plant grown
from the seed will produce a large amount of bud. Consecutively, you will get more yield from a

  • 2. Religion Is Not A Problem With Religion Religion can unquestionably establish bonds amongst communities and societies. The encouraging role of faith has tended to be overlooked due to other world affairs. Emile Durkheim summarised religion as body of practices and beliefs that act as a basis of identification. Therefore theoretical understandings can demonstrate that terrorism is not a problem with religion. Durkheim went further by declaring that religion maintains social order and allows for social cohesion (Boundless, 2015). According to Emile Durkheim all societies have religion which offers meaning to life as well as enforcing religious morals and norms respectably. Similarly German sociologist Max Weberconcluded that religion brings meaning to life through specific codes of conducts. Guidelines are set in order to follow the desired behaviour. This becomes a central element as Weber believes that humans have always been challenged by crisis which is logically acceptable (Priya, 2014). As opposed to religion being a problem, scholars have forwarded the idea that faith controls order and impacts how one is to live in the expectation of a successful afterlife. Religion also makes us put up with inequalities because of the concept of afterlife. This questions if terrorism is a problem with a religion. A database was gathered showing terrorist attacks on American soil from 1980 to 2005. In response to the media effect, data presented considerably different findings. A figure of 13% was the amount in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Examples Of Class Structure In Sons And Lovers D.H Lawrence s Sons and Lovers takes us back to the heart of industrialization the age where people were more concerned with money, power and class. In the first chapter the use of THE BOTTOMS , Hell Row and Bestwood signifies different areas where people belonging to different ranks lived. We come to know that Mrs. Morel is being forced to move into a new residence at The Bottoms and for her this is a great loss. Bestwood might not have been a great place for her but at least it was a better place than The Bottom which was now on the edge of its destruction. Mr. Morel and Mrs. Morel are the perfect example of the tragedy that the class system brings. The first chapter gives us an insight into Mrs. Morel s class we discover that Mrs. Morel came of a good old burgher family (Lawrence 33) thus pointing out that Mrs. Morel s ideal s and manners were completely different from those of Mr. Morel. We also get to know that the thing which pleases Mr. Morel most about Mrs. Morel was When she spoke to him, it was with a southern pronunciation and a purity of English which thrilled him to hear (Lawrence 36). • 7. Summary and Critique of The Gift of Sex Essay A Book Review of The Gift of Sex University Abstract This paper is a summary of the book The Gift of Sex along with my responses for each section in the book. Along with the physical aspect of sex, there is a spiritual aspect of sex, which is mostly neglected by today s culture and even by Christians. The authors believe that sex is also a spiritual and emotional act, involving the total person, the body, soul and spirit. There is a connection with the sexual relationship of a husband and his wife, and the intimate relationship of God and man. Revelation of this reality would bring freedom and fulfillment in God and in marriage. There are many aspects to a sexual relationship between a husband and wife,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scriptures such as Jeremiah 7:9, 23:10; Isaiah 62:5; and the entire book of Hosea reveal that the relationship of God and His people is compared to a marriage relationship. The symbolism of the bride and groom is depicted in the New Testament in scriptures such as Ephesians 5 and Revelation 19:6 7. The authors believe that sex is not just for unity and procreation, but also for pleasure in the marriage relationship. The Song of Songs is poetry of the erotic relationship between a man and his wife, which is filled with passionate feelings. Christ has broken down the barriers between men and women, and therefore they do not have to live by different standards of sexual pleasure any longer. Men and women are equal in terms of value, ability, and position before God. Therefore, both husband and wife are commanded to give themselves to each other in marriage, with love being the guiding principle for sexual behavior. Penner and Penner (2003) believe that, it is important for Christian couples to understand the Bible s pro sex message (Kindle Location 425). I agree that sexuality reflects an aspect of the image of God in us and I believe that the church should openly speak out about the biblical perspective of the gift of sex. The concept of marriage is portrayed in the relationship the church has with Christ. God desires an intimate relationship with each one of us; one that reflects the depth of a sexual relationship between a man and a woman. Sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Did the Romans civilise Britain This essay is about how Britain changed Britain, and how they brought civilisation to it. The definition of civilisation has been questioned over the centuries. There are many different meanings of the word but in the Romans case it is The type of culture and society developed by a particular nation or in a particular era or time. In other words, this is what the Romans did to Britain. In particular, I will discuss the Roman invasion and the effect the Romans had on housing and roads. Before the Romans invaded, Celts lived in Britain. There were no towns so most people lived in villages and were farmers. People were separated into tribes ruled by kings or chiefs. For example calendars, the census, indoor plumbing, fruit and vegetables, the police and even cats! One of the most influential things the Romans did for Britain was build roads. When the Romans established in Britain they built lots of high quality straight roads. The main roads that the Romans built were from London to York (via Lincoln), London to Wroxeter (a village in Shropshire), London to Dover and Exeter to York via Bath, Cirencester and Lincoln. The new roads meant that it was much easier and simpler for the emperors to control their empire. This was because they could send messages and orders quickly. The roads helped Romans to trade with each other. They also provided people with a much easier option than to walk. The roads were mainly built by Roman soldiers as the authorities could guarantee that the Roman soldiers would do the best they could for the sake of Rome. The Roman roads were used a lot but many had to walk as chariots and horses were expensive. In spite of all the work that was put in with the Roman roads, when they left Britain the Britons did not make use of the roads. The Britons did not use the villas or baths either because of their close association to the Romans. Moreover the Britons did not have any knowledge of how to repair the roads because they ... Therefore, if humans can tame/control an exotic animal to satisfy our own needs humans should be able to. It s believed that the ownership of exotic pets should either be banned, or it should have increased license requirements to own an exotic pet. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts, why not to place restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution placed in order to ensure that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone looking to own an exotic pet should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban the ownership of these exotic petsfor that s restrictive on human aspirations. Restricting human choice shouldn t be acceptable unless a human s choice(s) reduces another s capabilities. Humans are at a point where nothing is above our species, therefore, if the capabilities of these exotic animals aren t enough to keep them from us, then humans do whatever they like. • 10. Farmers In The Late 1800s Essay In the late 19th century, farmers all over the country were filled with discontent due to the rough financial and agricultural conditions they were experiencing on the farm. As far back as the Homestead Act of 1862, which gave families land grants west of the Mississippi, farmers have been migrating West. Manifest Destiny was driving these families west creating jobs and opportunities, which had greatly impacted the time. This period before the late 1800s had produced high numbers of wheat, agricultural technology, and success for hard working farmers. The perfect life started to disintegrate with the increase of farmers, and the high amount of wheat being sold. With wheat prices dropping, farmers going into debt, and businesses controlling the economy, the farmers were starting to experience hardships like never before. This was the start of the depression of 1893. Farmers had experienced a number of problems during this time, but the conflicts of the Bimetallic Standard in currency, the overpowering big businesses, and the lack of government interference had contributed greatly to the validity of the farmers argument. Currency during the late 1800s was always a topic of great conflict between the different classes of people. • 11. Honey Bee Virulence Report Discussion With this information, it can help build the foundations needed to find anti virulence factors against P. larvae to reduce the need for antibiotics. The current treatments options available for AFB are becoming progressively obsolete due to antibiotic resistance. Honey bee colonies are constantly exposed to these antibiotics until approximately two weeks before the honey is collected (Caron and Connor, 2013). As mentioned previously, this is the only effective way of killing the vegetative cells, but not the spores. The spores still persist within the colony and once the bacterium becomes resistant to treatment, it results in disastrous outcomes (Caron and Connor, 2013). Therefore, treatments that could neutralize these virulence factors should be sought after. Also, with the use of antibiotics, there are possibilities of toxic residues being found in the honey. This could take a devastating toll on the individuals who consume this hive product. Therefore, the need for natural treatments are becoming popular because of regulations related... These larvae can be observed for any anomalies throughout the developmental period to determine the effects of these potential treatments. Unfortunately, during the experimental process none of the larvae made it to the adult stage in the control plate. This was partly due to the development of mold during the larval stage. Some companies choose to switch to a less expensive supplier in order to lower the cost of their products. I find that I encounter boredom most during the summer when I am free from the constraints of school and social life. This state of mind could lead someone to do some pretty outrageous things, whether that be very small or life changing. Life could completely change because of one stupid mistake made when bored. When looking back before the mistake, it seems a lot better than it does now. I have experienced an instance similar to the one described. It was during the summer of 2016, and I was going through a state of boredom. I had the mindset that anything is better than the feeling of boredom, even pain. There was a week, during the summer in particular, when my thoughts and mindset really affected me. I felt like I was wasting my life by not doing things with my time. I know this is a drastic response to a couple weeks of boredom; however, I tried to spend time with my best friend, but she was busy working and our plans always seemed to fall through. All I wanted was to be alone to sulk about my boring and uneventful life. I found the perfect spot to do just that; it was the roof of my house. There was a different atmosphere when I sat on the roof; I felt truly alone with my thoughts. I visited this spot multiple times during the week when life seemed too heavy to hold. Spoon River Anthology Summary In Edgar Lee Masters Spoon River Anthology, Margaret Fuller Slack is an aspiring writer, whose notions of future greatness are foiled by, on a surface level, her marriage, and children. As a result, Margaret is bitter, resentful, and accusatory. In actuality, Margaret and her notion of personal privilege destroy her future. Masters poem is a cautionary tale regarding entitlement and laziness, an acknowledgment of the necessity of personal responsibility, and an example of a wasted life. Margaret was wooed and John was luring her into the relationship, into the trap (8, 9). The connotation of these words creates an air of trickery around John, developing the emphasis that even though Margaret could have said no, her failure is now his fault. She discloses that the way he lured her was through the promise of leisure for [her] novel (9). The couple gets married and they have eight kids. This allows the reader to see that John had genuine intentions, but Margaret s bitterness interrupts this. Even though it takes two people to make a family, Margaret blames something she should be thankful for, but resents, on her husband. Her facade further crumples when she addresses the fact that she did not have time to write, but many people who have and care for children are able to make something out of themselves. Essentially Margaret is playing victim to things she is not a victim of. The only factor standing in Margaret s way is her own ego. She might think she is too good, that her talent supersedes practice and experience, or she might just be lazy, but in the end, it is she who chooses not to write. If one has a genuine goal, regardless of inconveniences, time and effort will always be applied; ergo, Margaret does not have a goal, only an illusion. Consequently, Margaret s world unravels with her death. Margaret is tremendously nonchalant about her demise: It was all over... anyway (12). This word choice continues to reveal how ... • 17. Adaptation In The Tempest The Tempest is believed to be the final play written by English playwright William Shakespeare (Arnold 2009: 1). This allegorical play takes place on an exotic island and describes the master slave relationship between Prospero the virtuous ruler and Caliban the ugly evil. Approximately three and a half centuries later, French poet and author AimГ© CГ©saire, who objected to colonialismand was concerned about post colonial issues, published A Tempest ( Une TempГ Єte ), a post colonial adaptation of Shakespeare s work. While the two plays share the same characters and provokes similar ideal dichotomies of master and slave; colonizer and colonized; natural and supernatural (Chan 2008: 1), there are differences, for instance, Caliban becomes a Black slave and the ending is changed in CГ©saire s version. Based on these alterations, some consider A Tempest not a translationof The Tempest but rather an adaptation that stands on its own, independent of the original. In response to this view, this paper attempts to examine the relationship between the two versions and analyze in what ways A Tempest can and cannot be regarded a translation of The Tempest. I will adopt Hillary Putnam s theory of Knowledge of a Possibility (Putnam 488) in Literature Science, and Reflection (1976), and focus on the value of literature as a source of conceptual knowledge. The emergence of the novelbrought with it conventions for a more realistic writing style that aimed to appeal to the common readers. Variations of the degree of realism ranged from writing that tried to present a fully authentic experience of life, known as Formal Realism, and writing that offers some authentic aspects of life but also conserves characteristics of classic genres of epics and romances. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The criterion for knowledge is rather complex and Putnam addresses literary knowledge in both the empirical and conceptual elements (Putnam 488). On the one hand, there are the conceptual elements of knowledge, those that can be considered knowledge of possibility (Putnam 488) that allow us to think of new possibilities through conceptual discovery (Putnam 488). Conceptual knowledge allows readers to get a sense of what something is like or provide insight to another person s beliefs. There are not necessarily claims to truth in this form of knowledge, but in some instances the hypotheses we obtain from literature may be tested confirmed through personal experience, and consequently may be confirmed or falsified. On the other hand there is empirical knowledge, which is gained through observations, scientific experimentation, and evidence. In this context, Putnam rejects the ability of literature to provide readers with empirical knowledge. In his example about The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing, Putnam suggests that the book provides knowledge of what it was like to be a communist in the 1940s (Putnam 489) but offers a disclaimer you may say to yourself this is what it must have been like; but...you have no right to say I know what this is what it was like (Putnam 489). Trial by ordeal was a method where the accused was given a rather brutal, and often deadly test to determine if they were found innocent or guilty. Trial by ordeal, in my opinion was an unjustified way of deciding guilt. For example, if someone was accused of doing witchcraft, they would be burned at the stake. If the person miraculously survived, he or she would be found guilty and was to be executed. This means that these free solvated electrons started to immigrant to host samples valence band or fermi band(see section 2.3.1) after that the guest spicies are nestled in the centers of the crystal structure of host spicies. The intercalation of metal ammonia (if this clarication is correct) enhances the lattice match, thereby advancing the intercalation process. To enhance the lattice match, the ions size of guest material and the d spacing or c0 of host guets should be proportional to each others. Thus, the rst one(ioniserted guest material) should be smaller than the later one, host material. Ions size may be larger or smaller than the neutral atom, contin gent upon the ion s charge. At the point when an atom loses an electron to edge a cation, the lost electron no more contributes to shielding other electrons from the charge of the core; thus, alternate electrons are all the more rmly pulled in to the core, and the diameter of the ion decreases. So also, when an electron is added to an atom, framing an anion, the added electron shields alter nate electrons from the nucleus, with the outcome that the extent of the atom increments[7].
