Police Privacy Concerns
1.3 Privacy Concerns
While police are utilizing body cameras, it is vital to ensure privacy and confidentiality for any
information or person videotaped. That is why it is necessary for police departments to have detailed
guidelines in place. Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier recently cautioned that the video
footage will capture a broad range of information including police communications, passwords and
interiors of private residences that would need to be redacted before releasing video (Vega, 2015, par.
7). This will take a good deal of time and resources as millions of hours of video recordings will need
to be stored and analyzed (Vega, 2015). Also, body cams worn by police could result in a great deal of
mass surveillance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the National Institute of Justice, at the end of 2013 only 25% of the 18,000 police
departments in the United States were using body cameras (Maney, 2014). This number has increased
greatly since 2013 as one third of police departments are now outfitting policemen with wearable
cameras (Delong, 2015). The American Civil Liberties Union has voiced concerns about privacy
regarding footage recorded on body cameras and has asked questions about whether the scene like that
of a suicide or domestic battery be made public (Vega, 2015). In response to concerns about privacy,
the President of Citizen s for Privacy authorized this study to determine if the benefits of police worn
body cameras outweigh the impact on people s privacy and to establish some recommendations to
further protect citizen s privacy with the ever growing use of this

Popularity In The Word Vulgar
The main points made by the article is what kind of opportunities does this contemporary cultural
phenomena shown to geographers by looking at the pop culture that is present and how technology
presented by the pop culture fit within cultural geography. As part of the first question addressed,
Kinsley takes the term vulgar and see how it fits into cultural geography. Recognizing that the
implication of disgust and distaste in the word vulgar (Kinsley 793) are what most consider when
hearing the word, but that is not the point in case of this situation. That instead of seeing that the word
in a negative connotation, but when it comes to looking deeper into this new wave of cultural
geography, it should instead be seen as a useful (if challenging) means when speaking about cultural
geography especially when popular has started to take place within cultural geography. Analyzing the
notion of popular cultural geography, Kinsley talks the different arguments that ... Show more content

Sports Are The Way Of Life
To many Americans sports have been the way of life. The people think that sports are one of the main
reasons why the different cultures and backgrounds have come together. Sports tend to make people
put all of their differences aside and make them communicate and possibly became friends with
people they would have never thought of. The effects of sports on people lives are good because they
teach good values and habits along with bringing people together as one. Sports are at the center of
our country and teaches a lot about good values. The U.S. citizens often tend to take sports too far
which was stated when President Clinton talks about how the country is insane about sports and that
they use sports as a way to how we act. Most Americans would say that the only good thing about the
country is the sports. They think sports is the only place for people to get the same chances and where
people work the hardest and it brings all the people together (Saunders). Sports were probably the best
thing that happened to the people in the United States because Sports had become more of a way of
life in American in which everyone tried to involve with complex issues (Starr). Although it took a
while for sports to change sports affected some changes in American society in ways including an
increase in ethnic interrogation, the rise of feminism, and the growth of new media technologies. In
the mid to late 19th century, most sports were played for purposes of social networking and

The concurring judgment of 2:1 was pronounced by the SC on 20th January, 2012. The decision has
been widely discussed because of interesting point of law and huge revenue involved of Rs. 11,000 (
plus ) Crores for the Government of India. The loss of revenue is not limited only to Government s
losing the Vodafone s case, the stand of the Govt. has weakened in other similar cases. The legal issue
related to the interpretation of provisions of section 9 of the Income tax Act, 1961 (Act), read with
section 5 of the Act. In the first round of litigation, the matter primarily related to the issue whether
any income accrued or arose to Vodafone in India on entering into agreements between two companies
for acquiring controlling interest, which one foreign company held in an Indian company, by another
foreign company and, hence, Vodafone was obliged to deduct tax at source on such acquisition. The
basic question involved was whether Indian tax authorities had a right to impose tax in respect of a
transaction where both the transacting companies were based outside India, but the subjectmatter of
transfer was in India. Hence, the notice issued was challenged.2 DECISION AGAINST THE IT
DEPARTMENT The Supreme Court has decided the case against the IT Department holding that no
tax is leviable in the situation when the transaction of outright sale happened between two
nonresidents of a capital asset outside India, though the capital asset (share) was

Compare And Contrast Dee And Everyday Use
In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, it is a family of three living in a small house, and the
story is told by Mama s perspective. In the beginning of the story, Mama awaits her eldest daughter
Dee to return home from college while Maggie her youngest daughter is at home. Mama is aware that
Maggie will be shy and nervous when Dee arrives, while Dee will be happy, free spirited, and worry
free. Dee arrives and interacts with her family and it is clear the obvious differences that the two
daughters have. Dee lives a more liberated, confident and carefree life while Maggie is self conscious,
shy, and reserved. In other words, Dee is an extrovert while Maggie is an introvert. Maggie s burns

Unlike Maggie, Dee has more opportunities than Maggie which makes Dee more free willing and
secure in her own ways. With Dee s confidence, Mama says Dee, though. She would always look
anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature (Walker par. 6). Dee is held on a high pedestal
because of her education and her age. Since Dee is older she is viewed wiser, a full grown woman, and
not a child anymore. Dee is full of experiences due to college and age. The story represents the era of
The Black Power Movement and with this era, Dee has carried of new attitude of being liberated and
not oppressed by others who feel superior. In that period, many African Americans, disappointed by
the failure of integration, gravitated to the philosophy of cultural nationalism as the means to achieve
liberation (Christian 492). In addition, Dee desires to use a different name to ensure she was not
named by one who oppressed her or her grandparents. Dee is very proud of her roots and heritage that
she is hopeful to keep the quilts to represent her background and show them off to the world.
Everyday Use is, in part, Alice Walker s response to the concept of heritage as articulated by the black
movements of the 1960s (Christian

Peanut Butter Cup American Culture
Since 1928, the H. B. Reese company s been making the irresistible combination of chocolate and
peanut butter known as the Reese s Peanut Butter Cup. The significance of this artifact in the american
culture and history is, without a doubt, vastly significant. As a confection, both peanut butter and
chocolate pack a strong punch in their own right. They are often main ingredients in cookies, cakes,
ice creams, and other desserts and treats. They re familiar... there s something instinctively American
and close to home about them both. It is no wonder they need very little persuasion of the American
people to become the number one most popular candy in the United States by a wide margin.

Analysis Of The Film Quo Vadis
As demonstrated in the 1951 film, Quo Vadis, the lives of Christians during the 1st century were very
difficult and painful. They lived in hiding and persecution, being ridiculed, tortured, burned, and
crucified by Roman emperors, soldiers, and even citizens. This idea is expressed in the film through
the multiple characters and themes throughout the movie. The people of Rome, especially the
Christians, had strong faith in what they believed in. This is demonstrated when Nero was burning
people in the arena, and the others kept singing. It signifies that they are willing to die for their faith,
and will not be intimidated into worshipping someone else. In the end, the Christians are triumphant
when they rebel against Nero, and are no longer persecuted. These events prove that if one believes in
something enough, it will last longer than anything else. After Nero was defeated, the Christians
continued to practice their faith and worship God, and because of this, Christianity and Christians still
exist today to spread God s word and keep the faith alive. In addition to this idea, the film insinuates
that faith of the people can last longer than any civilization or empire. The 1st century Christians
fought and rose up against those who persecuted and tortured them so they could continue to practice
their faith and spread the Word of God. The old Roman empire has fallen, but Christianity and those
who worship it still exist. This further expresses that God and His love and

Modern non human anthropoids consist of New and Old World monkeys and the great and lesser apes
that inhabit a range of environments throughout North and South America, Africa, and Euroasia. At
least 90% of the anthropoid population consists of monkeys. There are two distinct Parvorders of
anthropoids that have been evolving independent of each other for at least 30,000,000 years: the
Platyrrhine and the Catarrhine. These two diverse groups of species can be distinguished from each
other most easily based on the form of their noses and by the number of specific types of teeth. Today,

Current ideas suggest that the common ancestor of humans and African apes lived only about 5 8
million years ago; so, for more than 50 million years, humans and the African apes have shared
primate ancestry. Within this ancestry, a new level of movement began to come into existence known
as bipedalism: the ability to walk and run upright on two legs. There are various theories about when
our ancestors started walking upright, but a popular view is that perhaps about 7 million years ago,
early hominids began to adapt to a climate that was cooling globally. The huge rainforest expanses in
Africa were being replaced with savannah and patches of woodland, requiring the tree climbing apes
to become more adept at walking on land. Our ancestors who ventured out into the savannah were
rewarded with roots, shrubs and occasional animal carcasses, ensuring that those who walked on two
legs were more likely to survive. Even so, the jump from trees to land is not all that significant
because some of the early hominids anatomical structures may have already been pre adapted to
bipedalism while climbing trees and stretching for fruit. Bipedalism primarily allowed hominids to
free their arms completely, enabling them to make and use tools efficiently, stretch for fruit in trees
and use their hands for social

Use Of Voice Inside Our Minds
There are many ways of self expression. We may express ourselves through music, written and oral
interpretation, our political affiliation, and lastly, our voice. Though we may not realize it, we are
under the constant influence of the power of voice. Whenever we read an article, type an essay, or
even think, we are likely to employ the use of voice inside our minds. It could be our own, a friend, a
favorite actor s voice, or for some people, all of them combined. Another factor we typically associate
to a voice is an image. While subtle, image plays an amazingly crucial role in how we are to appear to
our audience. No one would want to pay for expensive tickets to see an artist live with otherwise
lackluster cadence. Individuals also, probably, might not vote for a candidate if they were to use their
voice to spread oppressive, immoral, or even awkward and unprofessional values; it would affect their
public image. In this essay, we will analyze how our legitimacy (public image; authority) effect how
our voices, and ideas, are heard. In all four cited monologues, each of the narrators has some pre
conceived notion of how they want to be viewed and heard among their audience. In The Candidate ,
Bill Peduto stresses the importance of his voice and all the variables that play into how he utilizes it.
Elaborating further, Peduto paints a stressful picture of the responsibilities and burdens of running for
public office, as Peduto states, When you re running

There they sat and waited for the sunset. The temperature outside dropped dramatically and clouds

The Success Of The Moon Landing
The 1969 Apollo 11 mission, which was the first landing on the moon. This mission can be seen as a
success and/or a failure. Although not all agree it was a success due to the lives lost, it was an
accomplishment for mankind, because of the success of the actual moon landing. Due to the high
attraction of the moon landing, there were many articles on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. Many of
these texts were very efficient in its appeals and in achieving its purpose.
In the first article, Man Takes the First Steps on the Moon, the speaker is the Times of London and
some mentioned are; Neil Armstrong, President Nixon, President Saragat of Italy, and other leaders.
The 1969 Apollo 11 mission was a success and keeping everyone on their toes. The primary audience
for this text was those who are interested in the moon landing. Its appeals to pathos were effective due
to the emotional and excitement of the moon landing. For example, ... our deep wish for a safe return
at the end of what has been a most historic scientific achievement in the history of man. This explains
how much of a breakthrough the moon landing was causing emotions of what else mankind can do.
Following this would be the appeal to ethos, That s one small step for man but one giant leap for
mankind. Having these appeals together make the impact of the accomplishment of mankind even
more of an excitement.
Following this great accomplished, a tragedy could have come. During a time of tragedy, we search

Maya Angelou s Poems Essay
Maya Angelou s Poems
Maya Angelou s poetry occupies a very special position in her development as a writer (Chow 1). As a
child, Angelou went through five years of complete silence after she was raped at the age of seven
years old, by a man named, Mr. Freeman. As a result of telling about her traumatic experience, her
uncle s literally kicked the man that raped her to death. Beings she spoke of her traumatic experience
and the result of the man dying, she then imagined that her voice had the potential to kill. Thanks to
her teacher, Bertha Flowers, at school Angelou started writing poetry as a means of expression of her
life events through her poetry (Chow 1). Poetry thus played an essential part in the recovery of her
voice, which in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also conveys in this poem that hard times and painful past experiences aren t reasons to avoid
living life, but yet is a part of what makes one s life . She uses death as a metaphor for life s battles in
her recurring phrase I keep on dying , but adds the idea of starting over and having another chance to
overcome battles that are recurring in her life (12). The title of this particular poem, The Lesson is
very significant to the poem within itself. The lesson that is preached in this poem is about the
constant courage and determination in one s life to defeat and her refusal to be overwhelmed by the
challenges of life. Her hope as a determined woman will get her through her personal and physical
tribulations, and even though each challenge in life offers her up a small dose of death, every time, it
cannot keep her or anybody technically speaking down permanently. When there is a will, there is a
way and Angelou always made a way to get back on her feet and keep it moving.
Mayo Angelou explains the reality between struggles and the beauty of overcoming them in her poem
called Woman Work . This poem is about a mother, preferably, a single mother that has children that
she takes care of. The poem starts off by saying, I ve got children to tend / The clothes to mend / The
floor to mop / The food to shop / Then the chicken to fry / The baby to dry / I got company to feed /
The garden to weed / I ve got shirts to press /

will there be enough water for future generations? The population is growing by 80 million each year,

the importance of helping others. The unfortunate people living in the streets have passed through
difficult times and appreciate small or big things. Homeless is a person without a home, and therefore
typically living on the streets. Some homeless people have become abusive of drugs, alcohol, and
other different type of drugs. Homelessness is a major problem in our society. Homelessness
contaminates our city, makes our city look dirty, and it is priority to fix this problem. To begin,
homelessness contaminates our city and spreads diseases like Hepatitis A, HIV/AIDS of sexually
transmitted infections, virus and Tuberculosis. For example, when the unhoused go to the public
bathroom, sometimes they do not clean themselves or wash their hands. During, the homeless pass it
on to their neighbors or other living creatures and spread or contaminate with different types of
diseases. Homeless contaminate our city by littering on the ground with plastic, foil, and other types of
things that contaminate. Based on what I have seen, one example is when I go down to the Santa Ana
Public Library my mom, sister, and I see that there are various amounts of trash on the ground. To
include, when my family and I pass through the Angels Stadium in Anaheim I see that there are
numerous homeless people that are contaminating our environment with plenty of diseases. To add, in
the short story ¨What do Fish Have to do With Anything¨ by Avi, it states that ¨his matted, streaky gray
hair hung like a ragged curtain over his dirty face when describing the homeless man. As a matter of
fact, the author states, his shoes were torn; he had rough hands that lay upon his knees; and his hand
was palm up. No one seemed to pay him any attention and he begs for money. Because he is filthy,
most likely he is carrying bacteria that may cause diseases. In my community, near the riverbed you
can tell that the homeless leave their feces

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Alzheimer s Disease
Aging is an inevitable process that every human being goes through. It is very important to see how
people change as they age and the various experiences they go through. One of the most common
diseases among older people is dementia. Among the different types of dementia, the most prevalent
one is Alzheimer s disease (AD). It is important to look at all of the signs and symptoms of each type
of dementia to see which specific type best describes a person s condition. There is one patient in
particular, Betty, who has many signs and symptoms related to dementia. Betty is a 65 year old
woman who has dementia running in her family. She has been living at home with her husband,
Robert, who is 70 years old. The physicians are doing many tests to see which specific type of
dementia Betty exhibits. After looking at each type of dementia and its signs and symptoms, it is fairly
easy to tell which disease best describes her condition. Examining the various biological theories of
aging is also very important because it helps to better understand dementia and how it affects older
people in their lives. Overall, it important to look at all of the signs and symptoms of all of the types of
dementia, along with the biological theories of aging, to see if an individual has any disease and the
severity of it.
Biological Theories of Aging
There are some biological theories of aging that are important to look at especially when dealing with
dementia. One of them is the cellular aging theory,

Pluto Should Be Promoted From Pluto s Original Planet Status
Outer space is a realm of new discoveries and possibilities. There is one particular planet in our solar
system that is brimming with these possibilities. However, for nine years it has not actually been
considered a planet. The dwarf planet , Pluto, has been overlooked and misrepresented in astronomy
and planetary science. Since being demoted from planet status to dwarf planet status, little Pluto has
raised some big questions about what defines a planet and what does not. In this paper, I will attempt
to persuade you that Pluto should be promoted back to its original planet status. First, I will give you a
brief history of Pluto, from its discovery to what prompted its reclassification. Next, I will explain the
definition of a planet as given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the definition s
flaws. Finally, I will discuss the recent discoveries of the New Horizons mission and how these new
discoveries should lead to the reclassification of Pluto to its original planet status.
History of Pluto
Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh and was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
This means that for almost eighty years, all of mankind knew that Pluto was a planet. The real trouble
for Pluto came in 1992 when David Jewitt and Jane Luu discovered the first celestial objects in a
region now called the Kuiper Belt (Weintraub, 2015). Pluto is considered one of the largest celestial
objects in the belt (Redd, 2012). However, there are some objects in

Introduction Inside of each body contains two kidneys which are bean shaped, and are found on the
right and are found on the right and left sides of our body. Kidneys filter all the blood in the body
which ends up making urine and removing wastes. The kidneys also release and retain water. The
excretory system consists of the kidneys, ureters, urethra, and urinary bladder. Each kidney processes
urine out into the bladder, through the ureter tubes. The kidneys maintain acid base and the balance of
ions and electrolytes in the blood so the body maintains homeostasis. Blood enters through renal ...

Kidney injuries happen fast, serum creatinine levels will be elevated along with a low urine output,

by low renal perfusion. Intrinsic renal is damage to the glomeruli and renal tubes. Pre renal causes
depleted blood flow to the kidney and lowers the glomerular filtration rate. Pre renal symptoms are
blood and fluid loss, and hemorrhaging. Blood pressure medications also can cause pre renal disease.
Pre renal disease also leads to heart attack, heart disease, liver failure, severe burns, dehydration, and
severe allergic reactions. Intrinsic renal disease causes blood clots in veins, arteries, blood flow in and
kidneys. Cholesterol deposits block blood flow in kidneys.
Toxins such as alcohol, and cocaine also effect the kidney. Intrinsic is direct damage to the kidney.
Post renal disease is mainly from urinary obstructions such as kidney stones and tumors. Prostatic
enlargement is also another form of post renal disease. Post renal kidney injuries include kidney
stones, obstructed urinary catheter, benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder stones, and cancers of the
bladder, uterus and prostate. Kidney injuries happen fast and the kidneys can lose function as fast as 2
7 days. Kidney symptoms such as hypotension, kidneys becoming exposed to bad substances, and
blockage in the urinary tract. Kidney inflammation

First Amendment In Schools
As the First Amendment protects the freedom of speech to all Americans, there needs to be some sort
of limit on when students go overboard. There are many different types of speech in which it can
cause disruptions in the classroom when teachers and students state their own opinions that don t
always go with what the others agree with. Things such as the place of where they speak these things
are affective to whether their claims are legal or illegal on any school campus. When students cause a
disruption, even across the street from a school supervised event while promoting illegal drug use like
Joseph Frederick did, it needs to be stopped as soon as possible whether it goes against the freedom of
a student s speech or not. In the court case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter what people do, everybody will have their own opinions on things and will have their ways
of how they want to communicate it to other people. The different communications involve politics,
problems, religion, talking over the phone, etc. In You ve Been Warned: Speech Under Fire, it says, A
majority of college students believe universities should restrict which kinds of expression are allowed
on campuses (Robby Soave). There is a lot of talk that happens on college campus that offend people
and even students believe that we should be limited on the things that they say. Another issue that has
occurred with college campus freedom of speech is said by Catherine Rampell when a college
professor was speaking of her opinions politically and a student had recorded her in the classroom.
That student had posted it on the internet where it had gone viral and even got onto Fox News where
they referred to the words she told the students to be an assault. This professor received threats and
riots to get her fired which required her to flee her state for safety. When she was teaching her class
and claiming her opinions it was obvious that she was a liberal so according to the Knight Foundation
Survey, it claims that, colleges should be able to restrict campus speech that expresses political views
that are upsetting or

My Study Of Landscapes And Landscape Theory
The sublime when involved specifically within nature and landscapes, concerns itself with
representing a dark scene that usually shows the uncontrollable power of nature. The focus on storms
as moments when the sleepy grandeur of nature is stirred up... arouses the inner force of the subject...
and laid the groundwork of the sublime tradition . (B.Beckley, 2001) This became my main area of
focus for my work; to create a series of paintings showing the power and unpredictability of nature
over a landscape. In my previous project I began my study of landscapes by focussing on our
everyday surrounding and variances in landscapes being dependant on individuals social and cultural
differences. In Landscape Theory, Jackson suggests landscapes ... Show more content on

This contradicts my intentions of representing the sublime in nature. This directed my work into a
more focussed outcome; to show landscape that represents both the picturesque s control and the
sublimes unpredictability. I started to experiment with various maps, specifically a familiar landscape
for me (where I grew up), and how I could incorporate or contrast these with the sublime in landscape.
I see the maps within my work as a way to represent order, and so experimented with various methods
in layering over the top to cover the controlled element in a free manner to represent the
uncontrollable aspects of the sublime creating contrast. The direction for my work was initially
inspired by my research into David Hockneys paintings in the previous term. David Hockney uses
colour theory to determine his choice of contrasting and complementary palette in his paintings. This
unique style, paired with the vast scale of most of his work, creates an immersion for the viewer into
the landscape being depicted. I wanted to recreate this within my work with scale but also colour
palette. I had little concern with specific use of colour theory, but experimented with blocks of bold,
bright colours to create the landscape; while leaving enough visual connections to allow the viewer to
depict an aerial view or map of a landscape. While reading I came across an article using the phrase
degree of abstraction . Although the article had no connection

The Next Levels Of Sympathy In Music
Sympathy is just feeling for someone else s problems whether that be in sorrow, pain, anger, etc.
Empathy could be said to be the next level of sympathy, as feeling empathy is knowing and
understanding someone s feelings on a subject, It is a lot easier to feel sympathy for someone than
empathy, but just feeling sympathy for someone doesn t make you a bad person. It might be for
someone you see across the street who just dropped their ice cream cone.
I feel as though empathy will not focus entirly on the subject of art itself, but rather on the person
creating the art and their feelings while creating it. Many song writers create songs with varying
tempos, intensity, and volume soley based on how they are feeling and what the song is about.

Female Power In To Kill A Mockingbird
How much power do women have in our society? Many people argue that women do not really posses
much power or contribute to our society. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee tries to emphasize the
ways women in the novel control and contribute to their society. Female power is when a woman has
or lacks control of herself or others. Moreover, female power in the novel is seen through the three
perspectives of Scout, Mayella, and Miss Stephanie. Throughout the county of Maycomb, the theme
of female power is seen through isolation, fear, and education. Scout Finch, an innocent girl, lives in
Maycomb County, where she attends school and spends her summer playing games, antagonizing her
mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley, and learning lessons from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is seen in the novel when Scout is forced to join Aunt Alexandra s missionary circle and Miss
Stephanie tries to teach Scout to act like a proper lady. Miss Stephanie asks, Don t you want to be a
lawyer? I answered mildly enough, Nome, just a lady... Miss Stephanie eyed me suspiciously... well
you wont get very far until you start wearing dresses more often. (308) This shows education because
Miss Stephanie believes it is important to learn to act like a proper young lady. This shows female
power because Scout is forced to act like a stereotypical girl and wear dresses. Although, she
continues to act and dress like she pleases despite these lectures. Female power and education are
correlated with one another because some women are forced to learn society s rules about how to act
like a woman instead of having the ability to choose the kind of person they want to be. This is in
contrast to Miss Maudie, who does not care who Scout is as long she continues to be an intelligent
girl. Therefore, the theme of female power can be seen through

George Crumb s Black Angels have influenced the birth of an American string quartet, the Kronos

He commented and said that Crumb s work was scary and wild. Black Angels were the first

of massive instrumental sound along with vocals such as percussion battery and there were no less
than four conductors. There were a mass variety of sounds to portray the progression of despair to
spiritual realization. The first movement of this piece composes hums, low gongs and slow sustained
chord progression in the strings that were consistent throughout the work. Shortly after, the soul
torment depiction of the vocal strains appeared in the second movement. Star Child was filled with

Defining Freedom in Eric Foner s The Story of American...
In Eric Foner s book, The Story of American Freedom, he writes a historical monograph about how
liberty came to be. In the book, his argument does not focus on one fixed definition of freedom like
others are tempted to do. Unlike others, Foner describes liberty as an ever changing entity; its
definition is fluid and does not change in a linear progress. While others portray liberty as a pre
determined concept and gradually getting better, Foner argues the very history of liberty is constantly
reshaping the definition of liberty, itself. Essentially, the multiple and conflicting views on liberty has
always been a terrain of conflict and has changed in time (Foner xv).

The redefinition of property not only affected the very meaning of freedom but also those entitled to
enjoy it. Because economic resources, like civil rights, possessions, and land, is easily accessible, the
limitations for men expanded. Nonetheless, the qualifications were still the same and in order to vote
one had to be white, male, and own property. As civil rights were being expanded, it also played a role
in the meaning of religious freedom. Because government were not allowed to interfere in personal
matters, religious decisions were free from governmental interference. During the 18th century, the
meaning of freedom has changed in so many ways.
In Chapter three, we can also continue to this change. Social conditions such as the three process that
occurred during the revolution also affected the meaning of freedom. The first was territorial
expansion, Manifest Destiny being the underlying idea behind it, and moving westward to acquire
more land meant more property could be own. It also reinforced the promise of economic opportunity
given that with more land one was able to own a farm and participate in the market revolution. And
with the revolution reaching its highest point, property owning qualifications for voting was
eliminated and political democracy, the second process, mean not ownership of property, but
ownership of one s self (Foner 52). Voting was still the very meaning of freedom. However, voting
was not the only definition of freedom

The Pros And Cons Of Racism
According to a teacher at Louisiana s top public high school, the n word is no longer racist and has
utterly lost its negative connotation due to overuse. His students (and millions of Americans) seriously
beg to differ.
According to the Times Picayune, the Benjamin Franklin High School teacher identified in the video
as Coach Ryan got into a heated exchange with one of his black students about why he is entitled, as a
white man, to use the racial slur. A video of the argument was originally posted on Twitter but has
since been protected.
That s racist as sh*t, the student tells Coach Ryan. Why can you not understand that it s racist for a
white man to say n****r to a black man? It s f***ing racist.
Raw Story reported that the student asks a white classmate if he would ever use the n word and the
classmate affirms that he wouldn t, after which the student opens the question to the entire class. They
agree that they would not say the n word. Coach Ryan then proceeds to dig himself into a deeper hole
while giving his students a disappointing lesson in white denial.
It s a word that s used so many times that it doesn t mean its original meaning, he insists. The word
has been commoditized so that anyone can use it, and it s not a negative connotation.
Not about to indulge an outright falsehood, the student tells Coach Ryan that the word would
absolutely have negative connotations if he used it it would be racist. Then, perhaps sadly inevitably,

Summary Of Why Max Was Right By Karl Marx
Karl Marx is considered a very controversial figure. On the one hand, he was a figurehead for the
common worker worldwide. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of
capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In
David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David
shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global
scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism
and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource
providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw
material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by
placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral
development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the
United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based
on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and
documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from
developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in
their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the
article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone,
in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference
between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom
99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist
exploitation actually turns out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the
fact that the 1,426 richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more
than the combined gross domestic product

The adoptive family may ignore or make little effort to incorporate into the family the cultural heritage
of the adopted child (Adamec,136). This decision to leave the culture behind, outside the family, does
not suggest that the child is neither accepted nor loved or cherished as their own. However, when the
adoptive family also adopts and embraces the cultural identity of the child s birth culture, it enriches
not only the adopted child but also the entire family and extended family as well. Another factor is
attachment is the child s age when they were adopted. The older the child when adopted, the risk of
social maladjustment was found to be higher (Simon, 188). Most children when adopted at younger
ages have a better chance to adjustment normally, than children adopted over the age of ten. An infant
learns to trust quicker, than a ten year old child does, but all of this depends on each case.
Developmental theorist Eric Erikson, discusses trust issues in his theory of development. Erikson s
first stage of development is Trust versus Mistrust , which states if needs are dependably met, infants
develop a sense of basic trust (Myers, 149). For an adopted child, placing the child early in a key
ingredient to successful attachment of child to parent and vice versa (Cox, 1). Such an attachment,
which is strong among the majority of families throughout the paper, is an important

Police Chief Cathy Lanier recently cautioned that the video footage will capture a broad range of information including police communications, passwords and interiors of private residences that would need to be redacted before releasing video (Vega, 2015, par. 7). This will take a good deal of time and resources as millions of hours of video recordings will need to be stored and analyzed (Vega, 2015). • 11. Analysis Of The Film Quo Vadis As demonstrated in the 1951 film, Quo Vadis, the lives of Christians during the 1st century were very difficult and painful. They lived in hiding and persecution, being ridiculed, tortured, burned, and crucified by Roman emperors, soldiers, and even citizens. This idea is expressed in the film through the multiple characters and themes throughout the movie. The people of Rome, especially the Christians, had strong faith in what they believed in. This is demonstrated when Nero was burning people in the arena, and the others kept singing. It signifies that they are willing to die for their faith, and will not be intimidated into worshipping someone else. In the end, the Christians are triumphant when they rebel against Nero, and are no longer persecuted. These events prove that if one believes in something enough, it will last longer than anything else. After Nero was defeated, the Christians continued to practice their faith and worship God, and because of this, Christianity and Christians still exist today to spread God s word and keep the faith alive. In addition to this idea, the film insinuates that faith of the people can last longer than any civilization or empire. The 1st century Christians fought and rose up against those who persecuted and tortured them so they could continue to practice their faith and spread the Word of God. The old Roman empire has fallen, but Christianity and those who worship it still exist. This further expresses that God and His love and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Current ideas suggest that the common ancestor of humans and African apes lived only about 5 8 million years ago; so, for more than 50 million years, humans and the African apes have shared primate ancestry. Within this ancestry, a new level of movement began to come into existence known as bipedalism: the ability to walk and run upright on two legs. There are various theories about when our ancestors started walking upright, but a popular view is that perhaps about 7 million years ago, early hominids began to adapt to a climate that was cooling globally. The huge rainforest expanses in Africa were being replaced with savannah and patches of woodland, requiring the tree climbing apes to become more adept at walking on land. Our ancestors who ventured out into the savannah were rewarded with roots, shrubs and occasional animal carcasses, ensuring that those who walked on two legs were more likely to survive. Even so, the jump from trees to land is not all that significant because some of the early hominids anatomical structures may have already been pre adapted to bipedalism while climbing trees and stretching for fruit. Bipedalism primarily allowed hominids to free their arms completely, enabling them to make and use tools efficiently, stretch for fruit in trees and use their hands for social ... • 14. Use Of Voice Inside Our Minds There are many ways of self expression. We may express ourselves through music, written and oral interpretation, our political affiliation, and lastly, our voice. Though we may not realize it, we are under the constant influence of the power of voice. Whenever we read an article, type an essay, or even think, we are likely to employ the use of voice inside our minds. It could be our own, a friend, a favorite actor s voice, or for some people, all of them combined. Another factor we typically associate to a voice is an image. While subtle, image plays an amazingly crucial role in how we are to appear to our audience. No one would want to pay for expensive tickets to see an artist live with otherwise lackluster cadence. Individuals also, probably, might not vote for a candidate if they were to use their voice to spread oppressive, immoral, or even awkward and unprofessional values; it would affect their public image. In this essay, we will analyze how our legitimacy (public image; authority) effect how our voices, and ideas, are heard. In all four cited monologues, each of the narrators has some pre conceived notion of how they want to be viewed and heard among their audience. In The Candidate , Bill Peduto stresses the importance of his voice and all the variables that play into how he utilizes it. The title of this particular poem, The Lesson is very significant to the poem within itself. The lesson that is preached in this poem is about the constant courage and determination in one s life to defeat and her refusal to be overwhelmed by the challenges of life. In our community, we take things for granted and not worry about the importance of helping others. The unfortunate people living in the streets have passed through difficult times and appreciate small or big things. Homeless is a person without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets. Some homeless people have become abusive of drugs, alcohol, and other different type of drugs. Homelessness is a major problem in our society. Homelessness contaminates our city, makes our city look dirty, and it is priority to fix this problem. To begin, homelessness contaminates our city and spreads diseases like Hepatitis A, HIV/AIDS of sexually transmitted infections, virus and Tuberculosis. For example, when the unhoused go to the public bathroom, sometimes they do not clean themselves or wash their hands. There is one particular planet in our solar system that is brimming with these possibilities. However, for nine years it has not actually been considered a planet. The dwarf planet , Pluto, has been overlooked and misrepresented in astronomy and planetary science. Since being demoted from planet status to dwarf planet status, little Pluto has raised some big questions about what defines a planet and what does not. In this paper, I will attempt to persuade you that Pluto should be promoted back to its original planet status. First, I will give you a brief history of Pluto, from its discovery to what prompted its reclassification. Next, I will explain the definition of a planet as given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the definition s flaws. Finally, I will discuss the recent discoveries of the New Horizons mission and how these new discoveries should lead to the reclassification of Pluto to its original planet status. History of Pluto Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde W. Tombaugh and was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006. This means that for almost eighty years, all of mankind knew that Pluto was a planet. Moreover, female power in the novel is seen through the three perspectives of Scout, Mayella, and Miss Stephanie. Throughout the county of Maycomb, the theme of female power is seen through isolation, fear, and education. Scout Finch, an innocent girl, lives in Maycomb County, where she attends school and spends her summer playing games, antagonizing her mysterious neighbor, Boo Radley, and learning lessons from ... Miss Stephanie asks, Don t you want to be a lawyer? I answered mildly enough, Nome, just a lady... Miss Stephanie eyed me suspiciously... well you wont get very far until you start wearing dresses more often. (308) This shows education because Miss Stephanie believes it is important to learn to act like a proper young lady. This shows female power because Scout is forced to act like a stereotypical girl and wear dresses. Although, she continues to act and dress like she pleases despite these lectures. Female power and education are correlated with one another because some women are forced to learn society s rules about how to act like a woman instead of having the ability to choose the kind of person they want to be. This is in contrast to Miss Maudie, who does not care who Scout is as long she continues to be an intelligent girl. Therefore, the theme of female power can be seen through ... • 32. Defining Freedom in Eric Foner s The Story of American... In Eric Foner s book, The Story of American Freedom, he writes a historical monograph about how liberty came to be. In the book, his argument does not focus on one fixed definition of freedom like others are tempted to do. Unlike others, Foner describes liberty as an ever changing entity; its definition is fluid and does not change in a linear progress. While others portray liberty as a pre determined concept and gradually getting better, Foner argues the very history of liberty is constantly reshaping the definition of liberty, itself. Essentially, the multiple and conflicting views on liberty has always been a terrain of conflict and has changed in time (Foner xv). The redefinition of property not only affected the very meaning of freedom but also those entitled to enjoy it. Because economic resources, like civil rights, possessions, and land, is easily accessible, the limitations for men expanded. Nonetheless, the qualifications were still the same and in order to vote one had to be white, male, and own property. As civil rights were being expanded, it also played a role in the meaning of religious freedom. Because government were not allowed to interfere in personal matters, religious decisions were free from governmental interference. During the 18th century, the meaning of freedom has changed in so many ways. In Chapter three, we can also continue to this change. Social conditions such as the three process that occurred during the revolution also affected the meaning of freedom. The first was territorial expansion, Manifest Destiny being the underlying idea behind it, and moving westward to acquire more land meant more property could be own. It also reinforced the promise of economic opportunity given that with more land one was able to own a farm and participate in the market revolution. And with the revolution reaching its highest point, property owning qualifications for voting was eliminated and political democracy, the second process, mean not ownership of property, but ownership of one s self (Foner 52). Voting was still the very meaning of freedom. However, voting was not the only definition of freedom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Pros And Cons Of Racism According to a teacher at Louisiana s top public high school, the n word is no longer racist and has utterly lost its negative connotation due to overuse. His students (and millions of Americans) seriously beg to differ. According to the Times Picayune, the Benjamin Franklin High School teacher identified in the video as Coach Ryan got into a heated exchange with one of his black students about why he is entitled, as a white man, to use the racial slur. A video of the argument was originally posted on Twitter but has since been protected. That s racist as sh*t, the student tells Coach Ryan. Why can you not understand that it s racist for a white man to say n****r to a black man? It s f***ing racist. Raw Story reported that the student asks a white classmate if he would ever use the n word and the classmate affirms that he wouldn t, after which the student opens the question to the entire class. They agree that they would not say the n word. Coach Ryan then proceeds to dig himself into a deeper hole while giving his students a disappointing lesson in white denial. It s a word that s used so many times that it doesn t mean its original meaning, he insists. The word has been commoditized so that anyone can use it, and it s not a negative connotation. Not about to indulge an outright falsehood, the student tells Coach Ryan that the word would absolutely have negative connotations if he used it it would be racist. • 35. Summary Of Why Max Was Right By Karl Marx Karl Marx is considered a very controversial figure. On the one hand, he was a figurehead for the common worker worldwide. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone, in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom 99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist exploitation actually turns out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the fact that the 1,426 richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more than the combined gross domestic product ... The adoptive family may ignore or make little effort to incorporate into the family the cultural heritage of the adopted child (Adamec,136). This decision to leave the culture behind, outside the family, does not suggest that the child is neither accepted nor loved or cherished as their own. However, when the adoptive family also adopts and embraces the cultural identity of the child s birth culture, it enriches not only the adopted child but also the entire family and extended family as well. Another factor is attachment is the child s age when they were adopted. The older the child when adopted, the risk of social maladjustment was found to be higher (Simon, 188). Most children when adopted at younger ages have a better chance to adjustment normally, than children adopted over the age of ten. An infant learns to trust quicker, than a ten year old child does, but all of this depends on each case. Developmental theorist Eric Erikson, discusses trust issues in his theory of development. Erikson s first stage of development is Trust versus Mistrust , which states if needs are dependably met, infants develop a sense of basic trust (Myers, 149). For an adopted child, placing the child early in a key ingredient to successful attachment of child to parent and vice versa (Cox, 1).
