Primary and Secondary Socialisation
Discrimination and equality
Introduction
Within this study report I will look at how young people can be discriminated against within the wider
society and how I could and would challenge this within my youth work practice.
This study report will also highlight current legislation and give a critical reflection on how the youth
service can use the legislation to practice equality and diversity. Within this report I will also analyse
and evaluate my own knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity.
There are various types of discrimination that can affect all those in society and the work place.
Direct discrimination happens when a person is treated less favourably than another person would be
treated in the same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Staff are also required to undertake training as a part of their formal induction programme to the
service and when changes have been made to policies and procedures. Policies and Procedures are
also on the agenda of all team meetings, service meeting, one to one supervisions and Performance
Review and Development (PRD) of all staff.
All services are required to evidence what groups of individuals are using the centres by completing
individual registration forms and sessions evaluations. By undertaking this practice the centre can
monitor not only the racial origin of its users but also the gender and age groups. This review would
ensure that the service is meeting a wide mix of the community, exactly what the aims of centre such
as Northwood Community Centre.
How this could be improved would be to look to integrate new members of the Kirkby community
more specifically in Northwood, as there has recently been a number of east European families move
to the area for work. At the moment we don t have any evidence that the young people from these
families are accessing community facilities.
Some examples of where the centre could have instances of possible discrimination include:
Ensuring young females can have the same access to activities in the club depends on there being a

Paper On Flint Water Crisis

Flint Water Crisis Who knew that Flints water could be deadly? Everyone should be allowed to have
the same clean water to bathe in, drink, cook with, and to have fun in. Unfortunately, residents in Flint
could not do this for quite some time. These residents were bathing and drinking from this water
before the founding of high lead levels in it. Not only was it because of the high lead levels, but the
pipes were very old as well. Due to actions made by the city council this caused a lot of problems for
the residents in the city of Flint. This effected children, pregnant women, and the elderly the most.
Many lawsuits were filed against the city of Flint. It was so serious to the point that Governor Snyder
had to declare a state of emergency. This took place January 5th of 2016. High levels of lead in the
water and old pipes lead to lawsuits, the sickness of Flint residents, and the city of Flint not doing their
job. Before the water crisis, Flint was receiving water from Detroit s water pipes which gave out very
healthy water. Detroit had enough water to share with other cities. Doing this was not free though and
it was not very cheap. Flint had to pay Detroit in order to use the water. After so long, Detroit s water
system had begun to cost too much for Flint. Flint then switched to another water system. The Flint
city council voted to switch their supply of water from Detroit to the Karegnondi Water

Strengths Finder Case Study
According to the Strengths Finder Survey which identified my top five strengths by analyzing my
answers to the questions asked of me on a website they are as follows: Strategic, Deliberative,
Context, Adaptability and Learner. Being employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee for
fourteen years this has taught me how to use those strengths to my advantage and also to the company
s advantage. For Strategic my first strength it has taught me to try and ask every possible question and
pull all information for the member that I can possibly get so I will understand exactly what they need
taken care of. In turn this helps the company with member satisfaction and peace of mind knowing
that everything that the member feels needs to be done is being done. For my next strength which is
Deliberative this would help take care of anything that may come up such as authorization for a home
health visit being denied due to doctor not giving the home health agency enough information to prove
it is a medical necessity. In this case I would need to contact the doctor and fill in that piece of
information for the nurse to be able to approve the visits in turn the member would be taken care of. ...

Example would be if the home health agency wanted to do physical therapy on member in their home

physical therapy. This critical piece of information is what the nurse would need to know so they
could approve home health physical therapy due to there was only one person available for

Chinese people are used to a relatively strong hierarchical structure. Promotions at work are in many
cases based on age before ability. The young, in turn, are deferential and
respectful to their older co workers and business associate, the advice and opinions of an older
worker are generally valued more than the words of a younger person. In Lithuania there are
differences between young entrepreneurs and older businesspeople. Younger businesspeople generally
have a less bureaucratic approach. Management style in China tends towards the directive, with the
senior manager giving instructions to their direct reports who in turn pass on the instructions down the
line. It is not expected that subordinates will question the decisions of superiors that would be to show
disrespect and be the direct cause of loss of face (mianzi) for all concerned. In a business negotiation
or meeting setting space orientation will be private more physical distance between individual
participants and no physical contact but office situation space is more large open spaces are filled with
many desks. ï‚· Management strategies As a manager you should act in a more flexible, improvised
manner. If one wants to successfully coordinate work with a Chinese, one tends to have more
communication to stay in his mind. They tend to be conservative in management and slow to change
those things that are tied to the past. Lithuanian managers

Liberalism and Conservatism
Nearly all Americans identify themselves with ideologies that don t discount another existing
ideology. Most people are Liberals or Conservatives because they have their own attitude regarding
our society. Liberalism and conservatism handle their issues with entirely different philosophies.
Liberals and Conservatives beliefs cover a wide range of issues that are influenced or established by
the kind of principles they embrace. The two most common ideologies in American politics are
Liberalism and Conservatism. Liberalism believes that they are people in the world that needs help.

practices by supporting certain religious or spiritual groups over the other.
In conclusion, Liberalism and Conservatism both have the same goals for prosperity, but have
complete different ways of accomplishing them. The differences between liberalism and conservatism
are vast, but they center on the basic beliefs within each ideology. Both liberalism and conservatism
beliefs support the status quo. Both liberalism and conservatism beliefs are deep seated in America s
principles of fairness, equity, and equality. The ideology of Liberalism and Conservatism has kept this

Ultra Running Essay
Running is the purest form of exercise. Its simplicity requires minimal equipment or experience, as the
running motion is an innate movement for the human body. More specifically ultra running is beyond
the marathon distance of 26.2 miles and incorporates distances of 50, 100, and 200 mile races. While
it takes any novice athlete to take part in the simple act of running a few advanced individuals turn
running into an art form and expand their expertise to endurance running as seen in ultra marathon
competitions. Running is currently applicable to society as the proportion of obese to healthy
individuals continues to increase. As a result of the obesity epidemic health and wellness has hit major
media headlines running in general has transformed into the most popular mode of exercise. The
increasing popularity in running has brought more attention to the specific world of ultra running and
researchers, health practitioners, and the media have become critics of the how running extreme
distances can be detrimental to health. While many argue that ultra running will pose greater health
risks for the competing individuals, historically distance running has been a crucial component of
human survival and evolution further supporting the development of biomechanical and physiological
health benefits. Despite the skepticism, ultra running provides holistic health benefits and does not
subject the competing individual to increased health complications or risk of injury.

Some control of blackberry and watsonia was achieved with assistance from Environmental
Management students from Joondalup TAFE in September 1999, shortly before a hot fire burnt the
area on 15th December 1999. Follow up control by staff from the Department s Perth Hills District on
resprouting and germinating weeds has been ongoing, and to date, control of blackberry and watsonia
is having a marked effect, and weed numbers are in decline.
A fence was erected around the habitat of Population 1a in early 2000. This has served to prevent
trampling of the area while the vegetation re establishes after the fire. Regeneration has been good,
with some native species emerging that were not evident prior to the 1999 fire.
Seed was collected in December 1998 and 1999 from the wild population, and approximately 2700
seeds are now stored in the Department s Threatened Flora Seed Centre (TFSC) at 18C. The 1999
collection was made immediately prior to the wildfire. The TFSC tests viability of the seed initially,
after one year in storage and again after five years. The initial viability of these collections ranged
from 84% to 97%. After one year in storage the germination rate ranged from 11% to 75%

But, it is always important to deal with the cases in the best way possible because the economic

It is very important to control emotions during moments of happiness, sadness and anger because they

thinking of the future and the circumstances but a slip of tongue might cost a lost. Facing the lawsuit
would be one very critical and important thing to consider. This might lead to a lot of disturbance and
chaos in the organization which could probably also lead to the downfall of the organization. Paul
should personally talk to Dean and try to explain to him what happened and how the process worked
and try to calm him down or he should offer him a position in the organization which could make
Dean happy and would prevent him from filing a lawsuit. If this is done, Dean would not take any
drastic steps and it could also make him feel better because he already feels bad about his disability.
The best fit solution would be to come up with a mutual understanding so that both Dean and the
organization are happy and nobody is affected by the decision. This matters a lot and will play an
important role in this case

How To Create Suspense In Rattarake
RATTLESNAKE is a very compelling action thriller with a hit of a modern western. The plot keeps
the audience engaged.
The goal is clear and the stakes are deadly. The tone is gritty. There are solid themes about second
chances and survival. The perceived protagonist has to overcome many obstacles to survive. There s a
feeling of a nicely crafted ticking clock tension. The action is also well constructed. There s good
visual storytelling, such as when Marcos is shot.
The script uses some of the techniques that make for a compelling thriller, including an isolated
setting, being cut off from communication, the sense of being stalked, and the threat of being harmed
or killed.

Also, to make Claire a stronger character, give her more inner conflict and struggle about her
stepfather and/or mother. This is touched upon, but not fully developed. In addition, give Claire a fear
i.e. spiders or snakes. The snake is foreshadowed, but it s not clearly established that this is an
overwhelming fear for Claire and that she will have to overcome this fear in the climax to defeat the
foe. Remember, what works best in these types of stories are when the hero or heroine has to
overcome their inner fears, before they can defeat the foe. So if Claire has a strong fear of spiders or
snakes, in the climax she will have to be seen overcoming this. For example, the totem that she uses to
attack Ajax with might be next to a snake.
However, if indeed Hank is truly the main protagonist and hero, then set up the robbery, the digging

characters at the ranch including, perhaps even Claire as to not confuse the audience about the true
protagonist. She can still be from a rehab.
Or make the scene at the rehab brief as, again, not to confuse the audience about the true protagonist.
Consider moving up the catalyst when they find Ricky s body and then Marcos is shot. Don t spend

Social Issues In Fahrenheit 451
Ray Bradbury wrote the novel Fahrenheit 451, which is a story about a society that believed books
were for burning and where thinking was discouraged to fulfill one s achievements.
Throughout the novel there are several incidents that can be considered a social criticism for today s
standards.
Subjects that refer to 1) schooling knowledge, 2) the way society is conformed, 3) the diminishing of
family values.
These incidents help establish the overall concept of complacency and the atmosphere for the society

Baseball Memoir
I have loved baseball for years, but by the time I was a freshman at Laurel High School, I had precious
little experience. The chances of me playing baseball in most high schools were slim, but this was
Laurel. America s favorite pastime was treated there as a vestige of years long forgotten. The athletic
director ignored us, the students didn t support us, and the school funded us just enough to say that
they had a baseball program. Tucked away in a forgotten corner of the campus in the gloomy shadows
of the tower from which football games were announced, the baseball diamond was the school s
disgrace. The dugouts were dismal cinder block bunkers with peeling paint and a propensity to flood.

In the spring of my freshman year I tried out for and made the JV squad. My first season was painful. I
finished with no hits, having spent most innings on the bench. I knew I would never play if I did not
improve my hitting.
The problem I had was that there was no place to practice. The batting cage was a chest high jungle of
weeds imprisoned by chain link fence. The school saw no point in restoring it, and everyone clearly
understood the message that baseball and its players just weren t worth the effort. Everyone, that is,
except for me and a handful of my teammates. We would not let them determine our worth.
One summer s day in 2014, I borrowed my neighbor s lawn mower and met my teammates at the
batting cage. I began mowing down the weeds, while they raked. Others restretched the netting back
across the top of the cage. By the time the afternoon came we had a batting cage and a real sense of
pride. From that day forward, we began practicing every day, year round. We talked baseball, walked
baseball, lived and breathed the stuff. We shared our equipment and made do with what we had. We

Essay on The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory
Why is the Universe expanding? What is Cosmic Back Ground Radiation (CBR)? There are many
questions asked about our Universe, which we know so little about. Scientists, in their attempt to
answer these and other confrontations, have found one idea that seems to explain much of what we
don t understand: The Big Bang Theory.
An explosion of incomprehensible speed was the beginning of our known Universe and existence. At
that time matter as small as the head of a pin inflated to become larger than the visible Universe of
today in less than one millisecond. The newly born Universe cooled very quickly and continued to
grow. Still, the heat was too great for normal elementary particles like protons and neutrons to ...

There were many people who worked together to come up with the present theory of creation. Edwin
Hubble, Arno Penzias, Robert Wilson and Alan Guth all contributed greatly to the formation of the
Big Bang theory.
Edwin Hubble used his large telescope to see far away stars and galaxies. He knew that the elements
in the stars reflected back specific colors, and you could tell what a star was made of by its color ?
DNA?. Hubble noticed that this pattern had been slightly shifted to the red side of the spectrum,
otherwise called a red shift. He knew, based on the Doppler effect, that a red shift was caused by the
stretched wavelengths of an object moving away from a point. If the galaxies he had observed had
shifted to the red side then it meant that they were moving away from Earth. He also discovered that
the galaxies were moving away from each other, as well.
With these observations in mind, Hubble announced that the universe was expanding. He then came to
this syllogism: If the universe is expanding, then at one point it was smaller. The result of his
postulations was the Big Bang theory.
Another mystery of the universe was the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR). CBR is made up of
photons throughout the universe that are floating for no apparent reason in space. Arno Penzias and
Robert Wilson spent their lives trying to explain the origin of this radiation and why it is still existent
today. Their discoveries

Foreign Affairs And The Pursuit Of Liberty Essay
Foreign Affairs and the Pursuit of Liberty Should America strengthen ties in foreign nations, or remain
neutral when external conflict arises? This question has faced every United States President who has
served, and will continue to stare the chief executive in the face. Whichever way the United States
decides, neutrality or involvement, there are certain pitfalls and triumphs that come from either
decision, but in some incidents the wrong decision can be detrimental. At the start of the nation,
George Washington led the country through times of both involvement and neutrality, eventually
bidding his country a goodbye with his Farwell Address, in which he warned his fellow citizens to
remain neutral if at all possible. As time goes by and the face of war has changes, Washington s advice
may have lost its relevance. In his time, Washington s advice to remain neutral was a word of wisdom,
but as new threats against American liberty arises, the United States President cannot avoid foreign
involvement, but rather engage in it for the sake of the American independence. As President George
Washington addressed his country one last time, he included many warnings in his address. One of
which was the dangers of becoming overly involved in external conflict. The President informs the
people ...nothing is more essential than that permanent, invertebrate antipathies against particular
nations, and passionate attachments for other, should be excluded; and that, in the place

Characters of Sir Walter Elliot and Anne Elliot in Jane...
The Characters of Sir Walter Elliot and Anne Elliot in Persuasion
In Persuasion, by Jane Austen, there are many exceptional characters. Perhaps two of the most
memorable are Sir Walter Elliot, and his daughter, Anne Elliot. These characters are well shaped and
have something about them that transcends time and social class, enabling readers of the all ages, to
feel they have something in common with them.
Jane Austen has created a very silly, vain man with immense family pride in Sir Walter Elliot. Sir
Walter is extremely proud of his good looks, his family connections and above all, his baronetcy.
The reader is introduced to Sir Walter at the beginning of the novel. Immediately his family pride is
seen and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, Sir Walter has very unusual opinions of people. Sir Walter s opinions of people
stem from: their personal appearance and their family connections. Because of his concern for
personal appearance, Sir Walter has a low opinion of anyone belonging to the navy, the reason being :
[it] cuts up a man s youth ... Admiral Baldwin s age.
He holds both Admiral and Mrs. Wallis in the highest regard, however, as they are both very
handsome. The reader is not impressed with Sir Walter s ideas.
Sir Walter is also impressed by people s family connections. He is eager to meet Lady Dalrymple, not
because she is family, but because she is a Viscountess. These opinions Sir Walter holds and his
reasons for acquainting himself with others very much emphasizes that Sir Walter is very conscious of
his baronetcy. His pride is also apparent, as he is condescending to people whom he sees as of lower
social class.
Austen further develops Sir Walter through the actions and dialogue of others. Through the characters
of Admiral Croft and Elizabeth Elliot, the reader s impression of Sir Walter is strengthened. Admiral
Croft remarks to Anne that Sir Walter must be rather a dressy man for his time of life and Elizabeth,
again to Anne, says:
One would imagine ...but he abominates them.
Sir Walter s extreme obsession with personal appearance is again emphasized, making him not well
liked.
Finally, Sir Walter s own dialogue condemns him further.

Tree Ecology In Battle Park

Tree ecology on two slopes in Battle Park
Introduction
Forest communities like Battle Park have different environmental factors within their area. On
different slopes, depending on the direction it is facing, the soil and area could be wetter or drier. This
study is looking to see if the north facing and south facing sites have differences in basal area, density,
species richness, and diversity. Also, there may be some similarities in the area since both are from the
same park.
Much of the forest in Battle Park predates European settlement that occurred in the area around 1740
(North Carolina Botanical Garden 2014). Battle Park is a forest of continuity which means that it is a

invasive species, but many of the large trees growing there have remained untouched. The area was
never cut down for human use, but some of the fallen logs were used for firewood (Vandermast,

To see the differences of the two sites, basal area, density, species richness, and the Shannon diversity
index were used. Basal area and density is the average amount of space of trees in hectares. Basal area
is taken using the tree diameters while density uses the number of trees. Species richness is the
number of species found. Abundance of each species is used to find the Shannon diversity index. The
Sorensen similarity index compares the areas based on the number of the same species. Also, different
species were looked at to find the relative basal area, relative density, and importance value of the
trees. There were differences and similarities in both

Hazard Identification Essay
Hazard Identification
Contaminant Description
Lead is a naturally occurring element and was the main toxicant found contaminating the soil at the
West Calumet Housing Complex. Hazardous levels of arsenic were also identified.1, 2 Lead is found
in air, soil, and water. Most lead exposure results from the use of fossil fuels, it enters the environment
from past and current uses.2 Sites located near mining and smelting sites like West Calumet have
shown substantial increases in lead levels in the environment.2, 3 Prolonged exposure results in more
detrimental health effects with children being at the highest risk. Lead exposure can lead to harmful
effects even in low doses, no safe blood level has been identified in children.4

Their use was banned in the United States in 1996 which limits organic lead exposure to primarily
occupational sites.8,9 Organic soil matter binds lead very tightly. The availability of soil lead also
depends on its solubility.5 The half life of lead varies from about one month in blood, 1 1.5 months in
soft tissue, to about 25 30 years in bone.14 Lead has the ability to enter the environment at any stage
from its mining to its final use and once it is introduced it continues to persist. Lead does not
biodegrade; it can remain in soil for thousands of years.8,5
Exposure Assessment
Exposure Routes The major routes of lead exposure are absorption from contaminated foreign bodies,
inhalation, and ingestion. Some examples of ingestion include chips from wall paint, ingestion of
contaminated food and water.3,4 Tobacco smoke is also a source of lead exposure.4,9 Dermal
absorption only occurs due to exposure of organic forms of lead.9 Lead exposure from soil can result
from direct contact with soil, in addition to tracking in dust on shoes, clothing, and pets are all forms
of possible exposure.5 Young children are at higher risk for exposure from ingestion, they consume an
estimated 200 mg of soil per day.5 Exposure via ingestion is magnified in children who engage in
pica, an eating disorder characterized by the consumption of nonnutritive

Breathing Rate Lab Report
Aim: To investigate the relationship between exercise levels and respiratory functions.
Hypothesis: If respiratory functions are measured after different exercise levels are completed, then
there will be an increase in those functions which include heart rate, breathing rate and carbon dioxide
production levels.

Safety glasses
Measuring cylinder
Dropper
Balloon
Large test tubes
Stopwatch / timer
Glass pipette
20 ml of water
Bromothymol blue
Up to four group members
An exercise

If a pulse was measured and recorded as student 1 s results, the same person is to be used again as
student 1, or therefore results would be inaccurate. If it were to be two different people being
measured for student 1 s results column, results would be inaccurate because two people may have
different pulses, breathing rates and carbon dioxide productions. One person may be more calm, or
more energetic than the other, and those factors would give uneven results. There was not enough time
to complete the full investigation, therefore results for table 3, the carbon dioxide production, was
taken from another group. This has affected data, making it inaccurate, because these results were
measured on other group members. Another factor that could have affected this investigation is the
exercise type. The same exercise is to be completed by all members of the group throughout the whole
investigation. If one member was to do 1 minute of simple star jumps, while another chose to do
sprints, that would affect the the results, because more intensity would of been put into sprinting than
star jumps, and that person would have a more increased function, making the results somewhat

A Description Of Bayesian Rational Selection Methods
2.5 Full Bayesian set up j Using residual information from the pde as prior for basis selection a
Bayesian variable selection method can be devised. Posterior estimates are computed at each time

The Fortune at the Bottom of Pyramid
Lessons from the Field:
Sales at the Bottom of the Pyramid
By Heidi Krauel and Joel Montgomery, 2009 Acumen Fund Fellows April 2010
Summary
Enterprises serving bottom of the pyramid (BoP) markets have tremendous opportunity to create
commercial and social impact, but are often illequipped to do so. A particular question that needs to be
studied is: how can we sell more effectively to BoP consumers? In this piece, Acumen Fund Fellows
Heidi Krauel and Joel Montgomery draw on their field experiences and research to explain how we
can build more effective sales organizations to serve the BoP.

Returning to School Essay
Wanting to return to school has been a dream for a long time. I am starting out a little late, at 45 years
old, but I have finally found my passion, working in education. Since the age of thirteen, I have been
working multiple jobs day and night, only to still be below the poverty line; stuck in survival mode for
so long now that I need to have a permanent positive change that will help me accomplish more than I
ever have. The reason for me going back to school is to get certified so I may become a teacher. Our
low income was the culprit on pushing me to get started. I have been struggling for so long that now it
is time for me to make a real difference in my life and those around me, hopefully resulting in an
increase in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While doing everything, I have been the only income, and support for my family, working three jobs,
and volunteering for the PHS Band Boosters. Stress is high at home, and I just do not feel welcome.
Our power was turned off, the phone and internet have already been disconnected, the house is a mess,
the cars are breaking down, and we have no clothes, or shoes that are decent, and no money to buy
any. I cannot afford to have the trash hauled off, so we live with piles of garbage outside and inside. I
am two months behind on the rent, and we live out of the local food banks for our food. I m so
embarrassed of how we live that I won t let anyone come over to visit. I hear the kids and my husband
saying that they blame me for how we live. It s my fault that I am not home to keep things clean, or
help with their homework, or that I am not bringing in enough money to pay the bills. I have to fight
each day just to prove myself, to those closest to me. At this time the best that I can do, is to talk with
one of the counselors at school, to see if they may be able to help us out as a family. Working with so
many different types of people throughout the years, has taught me that there is a way if it is important
enough to you. Giving up is not an option In order for this to work a serious change at home will need
to take place, getting everyone back on track, and setting their priorities straight. I will need

Essay On King Cobra
Here s the new ride, the King Cobra (not to be confused with the King Cobra, the similarly
themed/colored water ride)! This cobra themed Red and Brown monster can achieve a velocity of over
85 mph, an amazing altitude of over 300 feet, and a fall that brings you weightlessness and/or nausea.
It can cycle through over 1,500 riders an hour with 3 carts fitting 8 rows of 2 people. In addition, the
starting area provides a beautiful view of the attractions below. Also, please ensure that you place all
minuscule items and/or personal property in the storage area before riding. Any possessions you lose
while riding the King Cobra are not our responsibility. The King Cobra has a giant cobra twisting
around the track with its head in front of a cavern, and it s tail enwrapping the area where the train
gets a second burst of speed. This minute long beast starts off with a sudden inertia jerk (via our
powerful hydraulic launch system), accelerating you through a turn. Then you go up a gargantuan hill
at a constant speed, giving you a scenic view of the surrounding area. Then, you take a long drop into
the gaping maw of the king cobra himself, free falling. The tumble ends suddenly, but then you take
another drop, entering the stomach. You wind through the dark, perplexing labyrinth of his insides,

Bilingual Phenomenon
1. Introduction What is bilingualism? It is very difficult yet problematic to define bilingualism
because many people with different bilingual characteristics might be classified as bilingual (National
Association for Language Development in the Curriculum, 2011). What we can simply clarify is that
bilingualism is the ability to use two languages. As we all know, Hong Kong, a modern city of the
world, is a well known bilingual city based on historical, economic, political and social factors. And in
our daily lives, it seems really common to see people have bilingual communication under different
circumstances, which is also known as the bilingual phenomenon.

Take the GovHK as an example. The information and contents given in the GovHK are bilingual,
which means people can switch the language as they know better. What s more, formal language and
high variety of language should be used in terms of instructions and government, which means code
mixing and code switching are not allowed to occur in the government websites.
4.3 Bilingual phenomenon in education As mentioned above, due to the high demand of bilingualism,
students, as social instructors in the future, should have a good command of bilingualism. Thus, the
government has been promoting the biliterate and trilingual society for many years. So English has
been the medium of instruction in all the universities in Hong Kong and many primary and secondary
schools. In those EMI schools, both teachers and students speak English in class while they might still
speak Chinese in their daily lives. In this case, bilingual communication is common in their daily
lives.

P1- Describe the travel and tourism component industries...
P1 Describe the travel and tourism component industries and provide examples of domestic, inbound
and outbound organisations within them.
There are three types of tourism which is domestic, inbound and outbound tourism.
Domestic tourism
When a tourist travels around the same country, as they live in. For example when you live in London
and decide to go for a tour in the palace of Westminster, then you are a domestic tourism. A domestic
tourism traveller does not have to book a place to stay because they can go home on the day they went
to visit.
Inbound tourism

Other roads are normal local roads linking to other local places such as Hayes to Uxbridge. This
would be used by some tourists who want to discover local areas and wanted to travel to another local
city or places.
Rail
Network rail operates and owns the national rail network in UK. People or tourists can travel from
different country by trains, such as Euro star which operates UK to France. This shows that you can
travel to some certain countries by train; it is cheaper than other ports and inbound and outbound
tourist would use euro stars. There are city trains such as virgin trains (http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/)
which link London to other major cities such as Manchester and Birmingham; the cost depends on the
destination. This train would be mostly used by domestic tourist. On the other hand, there re London
underground (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/) which operates London to different and larger parts of London
such as Northolt, leisure square, Oxford Street, Marbella arch, Luton, Modern, Croydon etc. however
it can be very busy in some times due to the works times and etc. inbound and domestic tourists would
use the underground because its faster and it s a nice experience to travel underground trains.

Marigolds Short Story
At a young age, children do not understand the importance of having compassion as for they hold
innocence within themselves. Growing up and maturing into an adult, children begin to progressively
lose their innocence as they become more of a compassionate person because one can not have both
innocence and compassion simultaneously. In fact, a coming of age short story called Marigolds
written by Eugenia Collier, tells about a young girl named Lizabeth who grows up to become a
compassionate person. For the most part, Lizabeth tells her childhood experience in a flashback on
how she mostly remembers Miss Lottie s marigolds. Ultimately, Lizabeth decides to destroy Miss
Lottie s marigolds out of anger because she hears about her parent s economic struggles. Shortly after
Lizabeth realizes what she had done, she realizes the meaning of why Miss Lottie plants the
marigolds. Throughout the short story, Marigolds, the characterization of Lizabeth helps develop the
author s argument that one can not have both compassion and innocence. The three events that show
this is, when Lizabeth hesitates before throwing the rocks at the marigolds, hearing the sounds of her
father s sorrowful cries, and eliminating Miss Lottie s marigolds. Collier s argument in Marigolds was
that one cannot have both compassion and innocence and this is revealed through the event where
Lizabeth decides to throw rocks at the marigolds. Her character develops to becoming a
compassionate person

Education Advisor Reflection
Dr J.
My understanding from my Education Advisor was that you approved the Incomplete Request for this
course to provided me few extra time to submit the pending assignments.
Today, I went to look into the details of the pending units, and I found out an F grade for this course
and block for accessing the course resources to continue my work.
On my previous emails; I mentioned to you that I worked hard to get to this point demonstrating my
enthusiasm and desired to achieve my goals with satisfying grades. The additional days will be the
window for me to catch up and present a valuable work; In addition, as I mentioned to my Education
Advisor and you due to events with my daughter and work I got delayed from the usual schedule.
Because this is not my first program with Kaplan, if I dont pass the course I will be dismissed from the
University; under that circumstances will be very hard for another institution to allow me to complete
my program. I am a responsible student, mother, and professional that just need a few more days to
submit the rest of the assignments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, if you gave just one more week to complete everything; I will take that time. I hope you can
help me to expedite the correction of the fail grade for an incomplete grade on the system; so the

and enable my functionality to submit the pending work.
In advance, many thanks for your attention, support and prompt respond in this situation.

League Of The Iroquois Research Paper
The League of the Iroquois is a historic confederacy comprised of the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga,
Oneida, Mohawk, and later the Tuscarora tribes. Coming with the message of peace, Deganawida tried
to convince the tribes to become one mind, one heart, one law. He saw the advantages of coming
together as a united people and the foolishness of the constant infighting. Upon the formation of the
league, the Mohawk chief Hiawatha made strings of wampum as a symbol that became significant in
diplomatic meetings and treaties.
The tribes came together to form the league for several reasons: because of their devotion to the law of
retaliation, tribes were constantly at war with each other. In addition to internal warfare, Europeans
were beginning to appear in North America, and it is speculated that the tribes agreed to form the
confederacy in order to seem united to the foreigners encroaching on their land. They could not defend
their land from the Europeans while fighting with each other at the same time. It is still being
discussed today, however, whether the league formed before or after European contact. To this day, the
Iroquois maintain that they formed pre contact. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The league was matrilineal, they traced their lineage from mothers rather than from fathers, and each
clan had clan mothers. Clan mothers controlled many things in their clans; they controlled the land,
deliberated over who was chosen as chief, and loaned power to the men of the tribe. In situations of
war, the clan mothers determined whether or not it was worth it to actually fight. If the men of the
tribe disagreed with their decision and still wanted to go to war, the clan mothers could withhold food,
water, and any other necessary supplies required for the warriors to be able to

Primary and Secondary Socialisation Discrimination and equality Introduction Within this study report I will look at how young people can be discriminated against within the wider society and how I could and would challenge this within my youth work practice. This study report will also highlight current legislation and give a critical reflection on how the youth service can use the legislation to practice equality and diversity. Within this report I will also analyse and evaluate my own knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity. There are various types of discrimination that can affect all those in society and the work place. Everyone should be allowed to have the same clean water to bathe in, drink, cook with, and to have fun in. Unfortunately, residents in Flint could not do this for quite some time. These residents were bathing and drinking from this water before the founding of high lead levels in it. Not only was it because of the high lead levels, but the pipes were very old as well. Due to actions made by the city council this caused a lot of problems for the residents in the city of Flint. This effected children, pregnant women, and the elderly the most. Many lawsuits were filed against the city of Flint. It was so serious to the point that Governor Snyder had to declare a state of emergency. This took place January 5th of 2016. High levels of lead in the water and old pipes lead to lawsuits, the sickness of Flint residents, and the city of Flint not doing their job. Before the water crisis, Flint was receiving water from Detroit s water pipes which gave out very healthy water. Detroit had enough water to share with other cities. Doing this was not free though and it was not very cheap. Flint had to pay Detroit in order to use the water. After so long, Detroit s water system had begun to cost too much for Flint. Flint then switched to another water system. The Flint city council voted to switch their supply of water from Detroit to the Karegnondi Water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Strengths Finder Case Study According to the Strengths Finder Survey which identified my top five strengths by analyzing my answers to the questions asked of me on a website they are as follows: Strategic, Deliberative, Context, Adaptability and Learner. More specifically ultra running is beyond the marathon distance of 26.2 miles and incorporates distances of 50, 100, and 200 mile races. While it takes any novice athlete to take part in the simple act of running a few advanced individuals turn running into an art form and expand their expertise to endurance running as seen in ultra marathon competitions. Running is currently applicable to society as the proportion of obese to healthy individuals continues to increase. The goal is clear and the stakes are deadly. The tone is gritty. There are solid themes about second chances and survival. The perceived protagonist has to overcome many obstacles to survive. There s a feeling of a nicely crafted ticking clock tension. The action is also well constructed. There s good visual storytelling, such as when Marcos is shot. Also, to make Claire a stronger character, give her more inner conflict and struggle about her stepfather and/or mother. This is touched upon, but not fully developed. In addition, give Claire a fear i.e. spiders or snakes. The snake is foreshadowed, but it s not clearly established that this is an overwhelming fear for Claire and that she will have to overcome this fear in the climax to defeat the foe. Remember, what works best in these types of stories are when the hero or heroine has to overcome their inner fears, before they can defeat the foe. So if Claire has a strong fear of spiders or snakes, in the climax she will have to be seen overcoming this. For example, the totem that she uses to attack Ajax with might be next to a snake. However, if indeed Hank is truly the main protagonist and hero, then set up the robbery, the digging scene and then transition directly to the ranch, revealing Hank working there. Introduce the other characters at the ranch including, perhaps even Claire as to not confuse the audience about the true protagonist. She can still be from a rehab. The chances of me playing baseball in most high schools were slim, but this was Laurel. America s favorite pastime was treated there as a vestige of years long forgotten. The athletic director ignored us, the students didn t support us, and the school funded us just enough to say that they had a baseball program. Tucked away in a forgotten corner of the campus in the gloomy shadows of the tower from which football games were announced, the baseball diamond was the school s disgrace. There are many questions asked about our Universe, which we know so little about. Scientists, in their attempt to answer these and other confrontations, have found one idea that seems to explain much of what we don t understand: The Big Bang Theory. An explosion of incomprehensible speed was the beginning of our known Universe and existence. At that time matter as small as the head of a pin inflated to become larger than the visible Universe of today in less than one millisecond. The newly born Universe cooled very quickly and continued to grow. Still, the heat was too great for normal elementary particles like protons and neutrons to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were many people who worked together to come up with the present theory of creation. Edwin Hubble, Arno Penzias, Robert Wilson and Alan Guth all contributed greatly to the formation of the Big Bang theory. Edwin Hubble used his large telescope to see far away stars and galaxies. He knew that the elements in the stars reflected back specific colors, and you could tell what a star was made of by its color ? DNA?. Hubble noticed that this pattern had been slightly shifted to the red side of the spectrum, otherwise called a red shift. He knew, based on the Doppler effect, that a red shift was caused by the stretched wavelengths of an object moving away from a point. If the galaxies he had observed had shifted to the red side then it meant that they were moving away from Earth. He also discovered that the galaxies were moving away from each other, as well. With these observations in mind, Hubble announced that the universe was expanding. He then came to this syllogism: If the universe is expanding, then at one point it was smaller. The result of his postulations was the Big Bang theory. Another mystery of the universe was the Cosmic Background Radiation (CBR). CBR is made up of photons throughout the universe that are floating for no apparent reason in space. This question has faced every United States President who has served, and will continue to stare the chief executive in the face. Whichever way the United States decides, neutrality or involvement, there are certain pitfalls and triumphs that come from either decision, but in some incidents the wrong decision can be detrimental. At the start of the nation, George Washington led the country through times of both involvement and neutrality, eventually bidding his country a goodbye with his Farwell Address, in which he warned his fellow citizens to remain neutral if at all possible. As time goes by and the face of war has changes, Washington s advice may have lost its relevance. In his time, Washington s advice to remain neutral was a word of wisdom, but as new threats against American liberty arises, the United States President cannot avoid foreign involvement, but rather engage in it for the sake of the American independence. As President George Washington addressed his country one last time, he included many warnings in his address. One of which was the dangers of becoming overly involved in external conflict. On different slopes, depending on the direction it is facing, the soil and area could be wetter or drier. This study is looking to see if the north facing and south facing sites have differences in basal area, density, species richness, and diversity. Also, there may be some similarities in the area since both are from the same park. Much of the forest in Battle Park predates European settlement that occurred in the area around 1740 (North Carolina Botanical Garden 2014). Battle Park is a forest of continuity which means that it is a good representation of an old growth forest (Vandermast, personal communication). It has some invasive species, but many of the large trees growing there have remained untouched. The area was never cut down for human use, but some of the fallen logs were used for firewood (Vandermast, personal communication).
