Specifically the Strigidae family have specialized feather structures, most are
nocturnal, and most are considered as predators and are very skilled hunters. These
owls have feathered legs and are colored to camouflage themselves during the day
when they are resting. The Eastern Screech Owl fits into this family, because it has
the color of most trees, nocturnal, feathered legs, and have a special feathered
structure.
Genus Megascops Kaup, 1848 Screech owls are in this Genus, Megascops Kaup.
Sreech Owls tend to live only in the Americas and very rare occasions other places.
The Eastern Screech Owl is placed in this genus, because it is an Owl, lives in the
Americas, and is a screech owl. Also many screech owls are lighter colored.
Species Megascops asio (Linnaeus, 1758) Eastern Screech Owl Megascops Asio is

Viking Women Roles
An ancient Scandinavian civilisation, known today as The Vikings, explored Europe
and Scandinavia by sea, in order to trade, raid, pillage and conquer. During a period
referred to as The Viking Age, the Vikings settled and colonised in Greenland,
Newfoundland, The Faroe Islands, Iceland, Normandy, Scotland, Ukraine, Ireland,
England, Russia and Anatolia. There is evidence that Viking women reached the
majority of the Viking World, from Russia in the east to Newfoundland in the west.
Although, it is difficult to separate the voices of Viking women from the
predominantly male chorus, women played various fundamental roles in Scandinavia
during the Viking Age. Despite the Viking s partial endorsement of female rights and
gender equality, there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The duty of a Viking woman was to successfully equip her family with sufficient
nourishment throughout the irksome winter months. Viking women would create
food products, construct garments of clothing, brew ale, care for her children and
collect milk from livestock. If the family was of a high ranking position, the Viking
women would have slaves to assist her in the completion of the household duties. The
Viking women were responsible for caring for the wounded, ill and elderly due to
their extensive knowledge of herbs and their medicinal properties. In addition, within
her family unit, a Viking woman also controlled the religious rituals, sacrifices and
offerings that were made to the gods. Moreover, when the Viking men were
marauding through uncharted terrain, participating in raids or hunting, the women
were trusted with the responsibility of tending to the farm land. Thus, the Viking men
controlled the elements of the Viking life that occurred outside the home, and the
Viking women organised the matters that took place inside the home. However, some
Viking women chose weapons over cooking utensils and became warrior women or

Watching The Pbs Frontline Film Titled, Losing Iraq
Earlier this week we were privileged to watch the PBS Frontline film titled, Losing
Iraq . In the beginning of this film, General Keane believed that the United States
shouldn t invade Iraq. Keane noticed that the war plans didn t include adequate plans
for securing the country. At the same time, General Franks announced that by
September 2003, 110,000 troops would be prepared to leave and that a division of
30,000 would stay and handle Iraq. At this point of time, this was huge news for the
United States, they truly believed that the major combat phase of the war in Iraq
was over. United States next step was to send Jerry Bremer to Iraq to attempt to fix
20 years of dysfunctional government. Jerry Bremer was a very interesting candidate

My answer is, bring em on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security
situation.
The plan to send more than 100,00 troops home by September 2003 was now
absolutely out of the question. As the war continued, thousands of Iraqis were
swept up in raids. The reality became that you d go into a village and just arrest
everybody. Things were beginning to get out of hand, the Defense Department
decided it wanted Iraq to be given back to the Iraqis as soon as possible. Soon after
the discussion, the US Army captured Saddam Hussein and he shared that he was
willing to negotiate. Many believed that this would lower the tension in Iraq, but
they were absolutely wrong. Four American contractors were murdered and two of
the bodies were hung from a bridge. This upset George Bush very much and he
demanded that the Marines retaliate. The Marines took the order and moved into the
city, killing people. Once the Marines were ordered to stop fighting, they were now
ordered to simply surround Fallujah and contain the insurgents. Soon after this,
Bremer formed a new government, and handed Iraq back to the Iraqis.
As the war continued, the United States Army was fighting the Mahdi Army. They
pushed the Mahdi Army into Sadr, but the White House didn t want to risk
destroying the mosque so the Army was ordered to cut a deal. The deal was to have
their militia not oppose the Americans. The United States

Industry analysis:
The restaurant industry was projected to have $604 Billion sales in 2011, which is
approximately 4 percent of the projected total GDP of the United States according to
the estimate from National Restaurant Association. The industry has been expanding
since the 1960s, mainly due to the boom of quick service restaurants such as Yum!
Brands Inc. and McDonald s. The long term expansion of the restaurant industry is
expected to continue as the major players in this industry are focusing on providing
healthier and less expensive food for both Americans and customers abroad. The
restaurant industry provides two categories of services: fast food and full service
restaurant. The fast food restaurants mainly serve products including sandwiches, and
pizza. Those restaurants attract customers by offering
Reflection On The Study Of Theology
REFLECTION PAPER
My educational background is not Theology. The Theological knowledge I receive
through the teaching from the church and by reading theological books. The desire
to study theology is because I realized it is very important to strengthen the basis of
my faith and for my spiritual growth.
Before coming to IGSL, I had read many Theology books and I found many books
were conflicting with teaching from one another. Sometimes I felt no interest to read
theology books anymore because there are contradictions and contrasts in thoughts
and made me confused, and disorganized my known theology. That s why I am
interested to learn Systematic Theology. Now, I could understand theology better,
and I am not confused with my theology.
I realized that the study of theology is not easy because it means learning about
doctrine, biblical theology, and systematic theology. This is closely related to
understand the infinite mind of God through the finite human mind. I will have
difficulty to understand the mind of God, perfectly. ... Show more content on

Therefore, when Christ is brought to Asia, the Gospel deals with the culture where
the gospel is brought. When someone who brings Christ to a region and does not
understand how the culture prevail in that area, he/she will cause problems in
presenting the gospel in the area. Culture has an important role in the human
relationships and it is a tool that unites an individual against other individuals in a
community. When Jesus was as an incarnate human being, he also participated in the
culture within the Jewish community. In Indonesia, most of the existing churches are
tribal churches. This means the church cannot be separated with the culture that
exists in every tribe. The church needs to give its place to the richness of the local
culture in terms of language, music, art, dance, and other elements which are of
course more meaningful to individuals associated with his/her respective

ENGR: 2110: Engineering Fundamentals 1: Statics Introduction
Engineers ought to maintain commendable design and implementation standards in
the development of any project. In fact, doing the contrary jeopardizes the welfare of
the people utilizing the materials created. As such, the knowledge on static concepts
needs to be prioritized in the development and implementation of engineering
projects to minimize the possibilities of failure due to poor planning. In 1978, the
Hartford Civic Center coliseum collapse raised concerns on the need for proper error
identification in the engineering process. This tragedy occurred when the roof
collapsed after a heavy snowfall in the region. During the event, no casualties were
experienced since no one was at the stadium in the time of the catastrophe (Martin
Delatte, 2001). Nonetheless, the lack of casualties does not alleviate the errors made
by the engineers in the design process. Additionally, the failure of this structure
sparks numerous controversies on the ethical responsibilities of engineers in the
design and maintenance of structures. For a fact, the collapse of the Hartford Civic
Center has many ethical implications and it was a design and management blunder by
the engineers tasked with this responsibility.
Description of failure
The collapse of this structure was mainly attributed to improper calculations and
anticipation of the possible errors in the design employed. According
The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court
The purpose of the Supreme Court is to review or address cases that involve issues
on a federal level or of constitutional law, just as appellate courts hear cases on a
state level. Their responsibilities include deciding how to apply the principles of
constitutional law to new matters and issues that arise in today s day to day legal
process; they also play the role of the parent to lower federal appellate courts when
their decisions on legal issues are contradicting to one another, overlap, goes against
constitutional rights, or allows room for confusion as to whose decision takes
precedent. Bottom line the purpose of the Supreme Court is to provide the rules and

In my opinion this rule is of fairness because without drawing the line and having a
court to reach a final decision and establish authority legal matters could stay in
appeal courts for years, constantly being argued and picked apart. The part to the
Supreme Courts process I will disagree with is being able to decide what cases to
hear and the justices serving for life terms. In my opinion both of these factors
allow room for bias and prejudice which should always be one of our constitutional
rights that are highly upheld, giving the supreme Courts random cases to address
during their term, increasing the length of their term allowing for more cases to be
reviewed, and decreasing the term of each judges years of service by switching
justices after a given period of time will allow for justice to be bigger than the
messenger.

White, a chemistry teacher, who starts cooking Methamphetamine to provide
money for his family. In an interview with The New York Times, creator Vince
Gilligan said the larger lesson of the series is that actions have consequences . He
elaborated on the show s philosophy: If religion is a reaction of man, and nothing
more, it seems to me that it represents a human desire for wrongdoers to be
punished. I hate the idea of Idi Amin living in Saudi Arabia for the last 25 years of
his life. That galls me to no end. I feel some sort of need for biblical atonement, or

Douthat went on to say that Walter White and Tony Soprano represent mirror

upward to the light. [31] Gilligan intimated he would inject undertones of black

Racism and American History
From the civil war era to 1900, strong barriers were created between different racial
ethnicities. The racial barriers against various ethnic groups cast limitations on their
full rights and citizenships. Typically, racial barriers were created for more than one
factor. What eventually led to the creation of racial barriers against working class
African Americanand Asian was not simply racism but the combinations of racism
with other social, political and economic factors. One of the most crucial factors
that had contributed to racial barriers was definitely the racism among working
class African Americans. The racism is best shown in the Plessy V. Ferguson case
established in 1896.[ 100 milestone documents, U.S. Supreme Court Plessy V.
Ferguson, National Archives, http://www.ourdocuments.gov/. ] This petition was
originally filed by Homer Plessy to the supreme court of state against John H.
Ferguson, the judge of the criminal district court for the parish of New Orleans.
Plessy was a legal citizen of Louisiana, of mixed descent with a proportion of
seventh eighths Caucasian and one eighth African blood. With this being said, Plessy
was still considered as an African race. On June 7, 1892, he paid for the first class
passage on the East Louisiana Railway and took a seat that was designated for
white people upon entering the passenger train. Due to Plessy s refusal to take
another seat, he was imprisoned in the parish jail of New Orleans. He was fined for

Iran And Iran On Iran

How does Iran continue to resist US sanctions?
This paper will seek to identify three key aspects of US sanctions imposed on Iran.
First the paper will briefly introduce the reasons as to why US and Iran relations
have worsened since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Secondly, this paper shall outline
some of the key sanctions imposed on Iran which have influenced Irans s behaviour.
After sanctions are reviewed, the paper will then summarise the impact of sanctions
on Iran. Last but not the least and most importantly, the paper will elaborate how Iran
is resisting stringent US sanctions. This paper will argue that despite punitive
measures adopted by the US, Iran has found alternative mechanisms to fight them and

This coup was a crucial turning point in US Iran relations. Sixty years on, the coup
continues to loom large in Iran s national psyche and remains a thorn in the country s
relations with the West. (Bezhan, 2013)
Iran s nuclear programme has in recent years worsened US Iran relations. The
United States accuses Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons (Bahgat , 2009).
Other reasons for mistrust include USA s support for Iraq during the Iran Iraq War
in the 1980 s. Specifically, Iran continues to resent the US supplying Iraq with the
chemical weapons it used during the war. Adding fuel to the fire, in 1988, US guided
missile Cruiser the USS Vincennes on station in the Persian Gulf mistakenly shot
down Iranian Airlines flight 655 killing 290. (Milinski, n.d.)
In recent times a critical point of conflict is the US sanctions imposed on Iran. The
key recent financial sanctions in place against Iran include: the Comprehensive Iran
Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010 (CISADA); the USA
PATRIOT Act money laundering designation of 2011; the National Defense

Personal Response For The Book Thief
The Book Thief I believe that the theme of the book thief is the power of words. I
chose this theme specifically because one, it was the theme that was repeated in
the book and two, because without words there wouldn t be a story. For example,
Lisle learning how to read and define words with her father made them have a closer
relationship. From there, I believe is where the usage of words began to have a big
impact to the plot. Knowing how to read not only allowed Liesel to read her first
stolen book but it gave her additional desire to steal other books. Words introduce
Liesel to Ilsa Hermann. They became close as well, giving Liesel more variety to the
collection of her stolen books. Towards the end of the story, Ilsa gave Liesel a journal
which saved her life. If it wasn t for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Meminger s heroic traits allowed Max to have shelter, for Jews who passed by

able to bring peace to the people of Hamilton Street in a basement during a raid

example, when Liesel came down she found the book sitting next to him, slanted
against his thigh, and curiosity got the best of her (Zusak 278). Liesel s way of
seeing the world I believe is that words have an enormous amount of impact on
humans, which can be used for bad and good. The bad use of words led to hatred
and war while using words wisely can help humans
Why Should Music Be Censored
In this day and age almost everything has to be censored in one way or another. It
has gotten to the point that music even has be censored on the radio because its
use of profanity. In my opinion this is some type of infringement on our freedom
of speech. The definition of freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as
one wants without hindrance or restraint. If this is to be held as true, then why ban
books, songs, and even movies because someone may get offended by either the
words or actions displayed in them? There is no need for censorship, but maybe fear
of what is to be said or done is the real restriction.
Music is an art form that almost everyone in the world experiences on a daily basis.

Use of Disguise in Homer’s Odyssey Essay
Use of Disguise in Homer s Odyssey
The difference between a wise and a foolish decision is often found in discerning
when to conceal and when to reveal. This discretion in concealing and revealing is
a major theme within The Odyssey. There is a proper time to deceive and a proper
time to tell the truth; thus, it is crucial that one act accordingly. This importance is
exemplified in Odysseus life. When he is discreet in his timing, he achieves his goal.
One example of this is the Trojan War. While the other men in the horse want to
expose themselves when they hear their wives voices being mimicked by Helen,
Odysseus forces them to stay hidden within the horse (Book IV, lines 306 311).
Because of this discernment and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recognition scene and the introduction to the story are found within the same
sentence as represented in the text, But when she bared her lord s leg, bending near,
she knew the groove at once. An old wound a boar s white tusk inflicted, on
Parnassos years ago. He had gone hunting there... (Book XIX, lines 458 462).
Because of this combination within a sentence, the story of the scar is structurally
indistinguishable from the recognition scene. Although the story exists, it is
inconspicuous. Since the hidden story is about a scar particular to Odysseus, the
identity of Odysseus is also kept concealed within the text. Thus, Homer hides the
story to stress the need to maintain Odysseus disguise as a beggar.
Another literary technique that Homer uses to conceal the story of Odysseus identity
is repetition. The repetition found in the recognition scene (Book XIX) is like a
mirror image. The recognition scene is followed by introduction to the hunting
incident, which finishes with an introduction to the hunting incident followed by the
recognition scene. To better visualize this, the text takes on the mathematical
format: (...recognition scene][scar story][recognition scene...). The brackets in the
model indicate separation and are mirrored on each side so that the story of the
scar can be slipped in more casually. The first green bracket occurs at lines 458 459,
But when she bared her lord s leg, bending near, she knew the groove at once. The
God And The Holy Spirit
God has revealed himself in many different ways throughout Christian faith.
Centuries ago, he gave Christians insights in ways they could understand and can
be used with common every day activities and chores. He has let the people see
him through his divine creations. Christians can see God at church weekly when he
comes through the priest. Another way to see God daily is when someone prays
and ask for his forgiveness, strength, and love. No one can see God, but he can be
seen through in his works when he sent the grace of the Holy Spiritto the world.
Christian faith is about trusting God, and God is with someone through the
satisfactory days and the deceitful days. His revelation relates to the theological
sources humanity can rely upon to know the truth.
God has shown bits and pieces of who he is through prophets, apostles, and Jesus.
God would reveal himself in ways each person could understand. This helped the
chosen people to describe God in the scriptures. Jesus talked in parables so his
followers and/or people who would be a by stander could comprehend what he was
preaching about. Today, God talks to Christians through the priest of the Catholic
Church during mass or any other Christian mass. God is also there during the
Eucharist when Catholics receive his body and blood.
So what is revelation as it pertains to God? It is how God reveals himself each and
every day. God reveals himself through the beauty of nature. God can show himself in

Summary Of John Knowles The Separate Piece
Symbolism resides in plenteous amounts of works. The Separate Piece is no
stranger when it comes to using symbols, John Knowles, the author, weaves an
elaborate tale that emphasizes the coming of age. The story follows main character
Gene and his friend Phineas (Finny) through their time at Devon Boarding School.
In order to show how Gene leaps from childhood to adulthood, Knowles creates
many symbols. WWII may be going on outside but another war is being fought
inside Gene s head; the symbols Knowles writes about, help prove how such an
internal battle is needed to enter the realm of adulthood. From the Devon s summer
and winter sessions that carry the event of Phineas fall to Finny s actual death, one
will realize that moving towards adulthood reveals an internal war, requiring
emotional strength to battle.

The summer and winter sessions at Devon symbolize how childhood turns to
adulthood; one will play and not have a care in the world when young, but with
growing old comes responsibility and strictness. However, in order to make that jump
from young to old, one must discover their own war and it must require strength,
emotional, intellectual, and heartfelt strength. Gene s mental struggle is brought on
by Phineas fall off the tree. The fall also represents the transition from young to old,
furthermore, to accept that fact, Gene needs to overcome and win his war. Childhood
is not invincible, nothing is, and that is brought about and symbolized by Finny s
untimely death. If one cannot create enemies and find a true emotional war to fight
internally, they cannot make it into adulthood. The death of Finny proves that. Even
though Phineas death is upsetting it allows Gene to win his war and move on. A
Separate Peace gives an overall look at how one must fight an internal war in order to

Comparing Business Etiquette in France and Greece
Business Etiquette: France and Greece Engaging in the proper business etiquette is
absolutely essential when travelling abroad: not only is it considered polite, but
engaging in such a habit will empower one to accomplish what one wants with a
higher degree of success. The proper etiquette will reassure your new European
business associates (in this case French and Italian ones) that you understand and
respect their cultural norms and that you re prepared to adhere to them to make
dealings more comfortable for all people involved. Furthermore, the French in
particular value rules and propriety; thus it becomes even more important to
demonstrate that you have a command of these rules and codes
(foreigntranslations.com, 2013). When conducting business in France, it s important
to place a premium on formality and respect. The following pillars of business
etiquette are extremely important in France. For instance, avoiding exaggeration is of
the utmost importance; the French almost never find it charming or amusing, but

that one can make logical arguments and offer up a cohesive understanding of all
viewpoints of a given issue (foreigntranslations.com, 2013). It also demonstrates to
the one s business associates that one has command of a given issue. Bear in mind
that the French have highly critical and highly analytical minds and can often change

Reaction Paper About Florida
Florida has been in the news and analyzed over and over again after the debacle of
the 2000 election results of Gore/Bush. Now that I am a new resident of the state I
thought I would take a look at its history. Florida is an incredibly diverse state.
Florida is now the third largest state in terms of population with just over 20
million residents. Florida is a popular state for people to relocate to, and two thirds
of Floridians were born somewhere else. While Florida is known for having a lot
of Puerto Rican and Cuban immigrants it also receives a lot of new citizens from
Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. While English is the predominant
language spoke in Florida, at 73%, there are many dialects of English that can be
heard. The New York City area dialect along with North New Jersey English are the
most often heard, followed quickly by various types of New England English. This
reflects the 2013 stats that show new migrants from America come from 1) New
York, 2) New Jersey, 3) Pennsylvania, and 4) Midwestern States. A common saying
in political circles in Florida is, the farther north you go, the deeper south you get.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Digital Technology
Introduction:
Diagnostic Radiography has advanced and developed since its early discovery in
1895, by Wilhelm Roentgen. In recent years, its dynamic development has progressed
from conventional analogue to computed, and digital radiography. The wealth of
changes in the past two decades has seen many departments in Gauteng convert to
digital units. This report compiled on the Multix Fusion system, from Siemens
outlines the machine with specific attention to: terminology, equipment, capabilities,
advantages and disadvantages, image acquisition, applications, as well as the long
term benefits regarding to workflow, time and cost.

This machine also includes a stationary grid that is fixated to the wall and patient
table as well as a moveable grid that can b used on patients that are X Rayed directly.
Application Capabilities
This system may be used for examinations on both children and adults. The table
can be used to acquire images of the patient in a recumbent, sitting or prone position.
The wall stand can be used for patients that are standing or sitting. The digital images
displayed on the system thereafter are of excellent quality due to the proper
understanding of the radiographer in terms of how to set exposure factors needed to
attain the level of contrast needed. (Siemens 2010; 39).
The Wall Stand
The wall stand contains the grid and has a holder for the detector. The detector unit
can be manipulated vertically or horizontally. The tube can be centred to the middle
of the wall stand and FFD adjusted to the required position depending on the type of
examination being done at the time. Examinations on the skull, spine, shoulder
girdle, pelvis, abdomen, chest, as well as extremities can be done on the stand
provided that the patient is positioned accordingly and optimal exposure is used.

Examine the main characteristics of both visions and conversion experiences [30
marks]
Visions and conversions are both a type of religious experience it s a subjective
experience where an individual reports contact with a supernatural reality, an
encounter or union with the divine, Religious experiences are preoccupied by
extraordinary psychological state and no one can give real evidence about it.
According to William James, a 20th century philosopher; every religious experience
has four characteristics. Ineffability, meaning that these experiences can t be
expressed or it is challenging to express them; people often gain an insight or they
learn something from the experience of how to carry on with their life. Transiency,...

An intellectual vision causes the person to become aware of an abstract concept such
as the grace of God a numinous experience. These are often followed by a sense of
inner peace or a call toward religious life.
A conversion experience is one in which the goal is to change one set of beliefs.
This process is called a double action; this is because one must turn away from a
previous lifestyle and turn to a new state of being. The development of conversion
can be a sudden experience or a gradual one and the end result is usually a greater
understanding of faith. People may convert for several reasons; It may be about
years of searching for a spiritual home, or about a moment of inspiration that has
caught them by surprise; sometimes it involves the pain of breaking away from a
previous path, a sense of loneliness and wrestling with doubt. Some may say that a
conversion takes place when one s identity is perceived to be inadequate and so
they move to being in a state when adequacy is met, and the knew life they start is a
holy one. There are four main stages identified which can lead to a conversion
experience; a prior interest in religious questions and other related issues, the
influence of other cases of conversion, a situation which may involve physical and
emotional upset, and the moment of conversion which brings about a radical change
in feeling and outlook of the persons life. There
Life Is Beautiful And The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
When watching historical fiction, there are certain features that will pop out at the
viewer to show that it is a movie worth praising, with a plot that grabs and holds
attention and a strategic use of humor, which keeps it from straying into a simple
documentary. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, based off of the book by the same
name by Boyne, has a haunting plotwith somewhat relatable characters and
considered a tragedy that will be loved by generations to come. La vita e bella
(English: Life is Beautiful) is a tragicomedy of the same genre with a compelling plot
of love overcoming any obstacle, a risky and unconventional use of humor, and
characters as deep and complex as the sea. Life is Beautiful and The Boyin the Striped
Pajamas are excellent films and are often given the same if not similar reviews by
professional critics, Life is Beautiful ultimately comes out on top with its brave
usage of humor for its topic, which is still as funny now as it was nearly a decade
ago. There are several ways to evaluate the plot of a movie such as how it puts
together an appropriate story with back story and continuity, the appeal of the story,
or how it is structured. Life is beautiful constructs a wonderful story with strong
themes of love above all, complete with a backstory and continuity there are no
unimportant details in this movie, and characters met early on would come back to
haunt him, or he they. The opening lines of Life is Beautiful, translated into English,
Analysis Of The Article Authorship And Genre
After reading the article, Authorship and Genre written by Kitses, it explores why
the western genre in American cinema became so popular. Western films explored
places that have been explored, which made the audience feel like they are exploring
this vast new land. In western films, you can see a slow growth of social forms such
as how someone should react after saying something. Additionally, westernfilms tend
to display the struggle of good and evil, such a wanted man saving the town from the
bad guys. Kitses argued [...] its being placed at exactly that moment when options are

in American life and culture. The filmStagecoach (Ford, 1939) was a classic
The Horror Of The Vietnam War
Well Done
Since the Vietnam War was fought in Southeast Asia, it is difficult for many
Americans to imagine what the people of South Vietnam experienced during the
Vietnam War. To better understand, the American people had to rely on eye witness
accounts, film clips, and photographs. One photograph in particular captures the
horror of the Vietnam War. It is the image of Phan Phuc, a naked, nine year old, South
Vietnamese girl, taken on June 8, 1972, by Nick Ut. The photograph shows the
horrors of napalm, the emotionless soldiers, and photo journalists, and children
suffering.
Jets tear through the air over a green jungle in Vietnam. What is a beautiful,
peaceful, thriving jungle, with villages and families will soon be a charred ash pit
with nothing but the lingering feeling of what once was. As bombs drop and the
liquid fire races through the jungle, everything in its path is destroyed. Trees that
have stood the test of time, burned over. Resource providing plants turned to ash.
People s homes and everything they have, destroyed. They flee, screaming for
their lives. Mothers and fathers separated from their families. Children left to die
in a burning jungle. While some make it out, most are likely charred to crisp. Left
homeless, with nowhere to go. Bodies lie on the scorched jungle floor like burnt
pines in a California wildfire. The smell of burnt flesh burns your nostrils. Thick,
black smog fills the air and begins to flatten out over the acreage. As if it is chasing

Coal Mining Pros And Cons
NorthMet Mining Project
Polymet Mining is a mining industry that is proposing to create Minnesota s first
sulfide mine. The company is wanting to create an open pit copper and nickel mine
that is located north of Hoyt Lakes in the Superior National Forest (BC Hydro).
They plan to call this project the NorthMet Mining Project. There is a dire need for
nickel and copper in America, and building this mine will help obtain these
resources. There are many pros and cons to the mine being built in one of Minnesota
s National Forests. The building of this mine would help obtain the necessary
resources that the United States is lacking, but will also destroy the natural state of
the Superior National Forest and many habitats of the animals living within the forest.
In my opinion, I do not think that building this mine will benefit the United States
because of all the damage to the natural land that it will cause. Contrary to iron mines,
sulfur mines release sulfuric acid when water comes in contact with tailings or other
mining wastes during the mining process. Sulfuric acid has ... Show more content on

Creating this mine will create 1000 permanent jobs and many others will be
employed to construct this mine (BC Hydro). While creating jobs for people is a
benefit to this project, it still does not amount to the amount of other living things that
will lose their home in order for the mining to take place. Another small benefit to the
mine would be the resources that we can obtain from this region ( Investing in our
region and state for substantial economic returns ). While mining in this area would
create revenue for PolyMet, there are plenty of other areas that they could mine that
would not destroy the land and habitats of many northern Minnesotan species. There
are benefits to building the mine in this location, but the number of consequences that
come from mining outweigh the

Otto Frank Essay
On Anne Frank s 13th birthday, she received a journal and immediately fell in love
with it. Despite her loving family, numerous companions, and a throng of admirers,
Anne felt that she has no true friends. Thus, Anne wanted the diary to be my friend,
and named it Kitty. Anne dived into her journal by providing a brief description of
her life, including the discriminatory behavior that Jews faced in Amsterdam. A
month later, the Frank familywas shocked when they received a call up notice from
the German SS for Margot (Anne s older sister). Due to the call up, the Frank family
packed hurriedly and left a false note that they would be in Belgium. In actuality, they
hid in a disused laboratory in Otto Franks (Anne s father) office. Otto s coworkers
(Miep and Bep) were aware of the situation and provided food, clothing, and other
necessities. Due to the increase in searches for Jews, Mr. Kugler, one of Otto s
colleagues, installed a bookcase at the entrance of the secret annex.... Show more

Peter van Daan was extremely shy. However, these small squabbles were resolved and
the two families maintained their platonic yet strained relationship. Throughout this

Mental Illness Is A Social Problem
Mental illness is a health condition that affects an individual s moods and thinking
in a way that changes how that person relates to other people in society. The
functioning of the affected person is also altered and usually results in the person
failing to perform some of the daily activities that the person has previously
engaged in. Mental illness can be considered a combination of both social and health
complications, affecting the social life of the people who fall victim in many ways
(Elliott Huizinga, 2012). There are some health complications that are also
experienced with mental disorders. It is also important to note that medical attention
forms part of the therapies that try to correct or control this condition. More recently
most concern has been on the fact that mental illness is a major social problem in the
world (Gonzalez Rosenheck, 2014). It has been reported that the number of people
with mental disorder is increasing in our communities at an alarming rate.
Environmental and social changes are among the most mentioned causes of the

How To Build An Auto Body Shop
It is easy to own a vehicle for many years and never need to take it into an auto
body shop for work. If you just received an estimate or bill from your auto body
shop, this guide will help you understand the industry specific terms used on your
auto body bill.
R I
R I is the shorthand term for remove and install. When you see this on your auto
repair bill, it means that part had to be removed off your car in order for work to be
performed, and then have to be re installed later. Generally, this part is not damaged,
but has to be removed in order to access the damaged area.
For example, the molding around your door would need to be removed and re
installed if your door panel needed to be painted. Or if your fender needed to be
painted, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if you needed to the side panels replaced on your vehicle and you also
needed to have the suspension fixed due to an accident, the auto body shop may
sublet out the suspension work. This is not a bad thing; they are making sure the
work gets done by someone who has more experience in that area. Every shop that
does auto body repairs is not necessary an expert with other auto repair issues.
Rpr
Rpr stands for repair. This is one cost that may vary from one auto body shop to the
next. This is the amount of time that an auto body shop estimates it will take to
repair items that are not as straight forward. For example, one auto body shop may
look at your vehicle and quote you 3.5 worth of work to get out a dent, and another
auto body shop may quote you 4.5 hours worth of work to get out the same dent.
This is the part of your bill that may change once the work is done. Most repair
shops, by law, are not allowed to charge you more than your estimate. However, they
can charge you less. So if it turns out that the repair actually only takes 2 hours to
complete, they will not charge you for the time that they overestimated to get the
repair work
The Campaign Of 2016 Campaign
In modern campaign races, candidates must find new and unique ways to connect
with United States citizens. In the United States, the campaign of 2016 started off
and continues to show a shift in issues citizens currently find important. The
campaign has been unique for who ran and continue to run for the title of nominee.
There are some veterans such as Hillary Rodham Clinton and some new to the race
such as Ben Carson. The Republican Nomination for 2016 more than the Democrat s
has brought a large spectrum of different candidates with distinctive rhetoric and
stances on issues to the public eye. An individual that stood out greatly against the
grain was Donald John Trump. Trump s work with The Apprenticedid help to get his
face known in the public, but may not the reason he attained a large support on the
campaign trail. Other factors such as personality traits and social media contribute
additionally to how well Trump campaigned. Trump contain some traits such as an
appeal to voters through his rhetoric, an association with the Republican party, and
utilization of social media. Trump s effective usage of these two methods allowed
him to become the Republican Nominee.
Trump s appearance on social media platforms gave potential voters an idea of where
they know him prior to running for the presidential office. Donald Trump s television
show, The Apprentice, depicts many of the similar skills and traits the Republican

Discovering The Concentration Of Sodium Hydroxide And...
Discovering the Concentration of Sodium Hydroxide and Citric Acid
Introduction:
This laboratory experiment focuses on determining the quantity of a substance that is
existing in a certain solution, by using titration in the experiment, (French et al.
2014). A hypothesis for this experiment is that the unknown concentration of a
solution will be identified. The objectives are to identify the concentration of citric
acid and the concentration of sodium hydroxide in solutions of unknown
concentration. In order to discover the concentration of a solution, acid base titration
must be executed during the experiment, (French et al. 2014). The standard solution
(known concentration) is reacted entirely during titration due to stoichiometry
located in the equation, and because the chemical reaction is between a base and
an acid, the products formed from the reaction will be salt and water, (French et al.
2014). The equivalence point occurring in an acid base titration will have the same
amount of moles in H+ as in OH . The equations that are used for this acid base
titration are as follows:
HCl(aq)+NaOH(aq)в†’NaCl(aq)+H_2 O(l)
H_2 SO_4 (aq)+2NaOH(aq)в†’гЂ–NaгЂ—_2 SO_4 (aq)+2H_2 O(l)
To determine the concentration of acid in the solution, the number of NaOH moles
supplemented to equivalence point must be discovered, (French et al. 2014).
Because sodium hydroxide takes in water and is hydroscopic, the discovery of the
concentration is required that sodium hydroxide is titrated against a

Portugal And Brazil Essay
Both Brazil and Portugal share an intense bond with Africa. Portugal held African
colonies since the era of overseas exploration. The first violent occupation from the
Portuguese took place in Ceuta in 1415, in the north of the African continent,
however, the real discovery of the continent took place little over the 15th century,
expanding also to the Latin America (Brazil) and Asia (China and India). In the 17th

the first wave of the Returned were in fact black Portuguese, who were looking for a
new way of life, many of them who had never seen Portugal

In the beginning of this film, General Keane believed that the United States shouldn t invade Iraq. Keane noticed that the war plans didn t include adequate plans for securing the country. At the same time, General Franks announced that by September 2003, 110,000 troops would be prepared to leave and that a division of 30,000 would stay and handle Iraq. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My answer is, bring em on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security situation. The plan to send more than 100,00 troops home by September 2003 was now absolutely out of the question. As the war continued, thousands of Iraqis were swept up in raids. The reality became that you d go into a village and just arrest everybody. Things were beginning to get out of hand, the Defense Department decided it wanted Iraq to be given back to the Iraqis as soon as possible. Soon after the discussion, the US Army captured Saddam Hussein and he shared that he was willing to negotiate. Many believed that this would lower the tension in Iraq, but they were absolutely wrong. Four American contractors were murdered and two of the bodies were hung from a bridge. This upset George Bush very much and he demanded that the Marines retaliate. The Marines took the order and moved into the city, killing people. Once the Marines were ordered to stop fighting, they were now ordered to simply surround Fallujah and contain the insurgents. Soon after this, Bremer formed a new government, and handed Iraq back to the Iraqis. As the war continued, the United States Army was fighting the Mahdi Army. They pushed the Mahdi Army into Sadr, but the White House didn t want to risk destroying the mosque so the Army was ordered to cut a deal. The deal was to have their militia not oppose the Americans. The Theological knowledge I receive through the teaching from the church and by reading theological books. The desire to study theology is because I realized it is very important to strengthen the basis of my faith and for my spiritual growth. Before coming to IGSL, I had read many Theology books and I found many books were conflicting with teaching from one another. Sometimes I felt no interest to read theology books anymore because there are contradictions and contrasts in thoughts and made me confused, and disorganized my known theology. That s why I am interested to learn Systematic Theology. Now, I could understand theology better, and I am not confused with my theology. • 7. Failure Is Always And Option Failure is Always and Option Shenshuai Chen ENGR: 2110: Engineering Fundamentals 1: Statics Introduction Engineers ought to maintain commendable design and implementation standards in the development of any project. In fact, doing the contrary jeopardizes the welfare of the people utilizing the materials created. As such, the knowledge on static concepts needs to be prioritized in the development and implementation of engineering projects to minimize the possibilities of failure due to poor planning. In 1978, the Hartford Civic Center coliseum collapse raised concerns on the need for proper error identification in the engineering process. This tragedy occurred when the roof collapsed after a heavy snowfall in the region. During the event, no casualties were experienced since no one was at the stadium in the time of the catastrophe (Martin Delatte, 2001). Nonetheless, the lack of casualties does not alleviate the errors made by the engineers in the design process. For a fact, the collapse of the Hartford Civic Center has many ethical implications and it was a design and management blunder by the engineers tasked with this responsibility. Description of failure The collapse of this structure was mainly attributed to improper calculations and anticipation of the possible errors in the design employed. According
  • 8. The Supreme Court The Supreme Court The purpose of the Supreme Court is to review or address cases that involve issues on a federal level or of constitutional law, just as appellate courts hear cases on a state level. Their responsibilities include deciding how to apply the principles of constitutional law to new matters and issues that arise in today s day to day legal process; they also play the role of the parent to lower federal appellate courts when their decisions on legal issues are contradicting to one another, overlap, goes against constitutional rights, or allows room for confusion as to whose decision takes precedent. In my opinion this rule is of fairness because without drawing the line and having a court to reach a final decision and establish authority legal matters could stay in appeal courts for years, constantly being argued and picked apart. The part to the Supreme Courts process I will disagree with is being able to decide what cases to hear and the justices serving for life terms. In my opinion both of these factors allow room for bias and prejudice which should always be one of our constitutional rights that are highly upheld, giving the supreme Courts random cases to address during their term, increasing the length of their term allowing for more cases to be reviewed, and decreasing the term of each judges years of service by switching justices after a given period of time will allow for justice to be bigger than the messenger. The racial barriers against various ethnic groups cast limitations on their full rights and citizenships. Typically, racial barriers were created for more than one factor. What eventually led to the creation of racial barriers against working class African Americanand Asian was not simply racism but the combinations of racism with other social, political and economic factors. One of the most crucial factors that had contributed to racial barriers was definitely the racism among working class African Americans. The racism is best shown in the Plessy V. • 13. Personal Response For The Book Thief The Book Thief I believe that the theme of the book thief is the power of words. I chose this theme specifically because one, it was the theme that was repeated in the book and two, because without words there wouldn t be a story. For example, Lisle learning how to read and define words with her father made them have a closer relationship. From there, I believe is where the usage of words began to have a big impact to the plot. Knowing how to read not only allowed Liesel to read her first stolen book but it gave her additional desire to steal other books. Words introduce Liesel to Ilsa Hermann. They became close as well, giving Liesel more variety to the collection of her stolen books. Towards the end of the story, Ilsa gave Liesel a journal which saved her life. If it wasn t for the... The definition of freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. • 15. Use of Disguise in Homer’s Odyssey Essay Use of Disguise in Homer s Odyssey The difference between a wise and a foolish decision is often found in discerning when to conceal and when to reveal. This discretion in concealing and revealing is a major theme within The Odyssey. There is a proper time to deceive and a proper time to tell the truth; thus, it is crucial that one act accordingly. This importance is exemplified in Odysseus life. When he is discreet in his timing, he achieves his goal. One example of this is the Trojan War. While the other men in the horse want to expose themselves when they hear their wives voices being mimicked by Helen, Odysseus forces them to stay hidden within the horse (Book IV, lines 306 311). Because of this discernment and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An old wound a boar s white tusk inflicted, on Parnassos years ago. He had gone hunting there... (Book XIX, lines 458 462). Because of this combination within a sentence, the story of the scar is structurally indistinguishable from the recognition scene. Although the story exists, it is inconspicuous. Since the hidden story is about a scar particular to Odysseus, the identity of Odysseus is also kept concealed within the text. Thus, Homer hides the story to stress the need to maintain Odysseus disguise as a beggar. Another literary technique that Homer uses to conceal the story of Odysseus identity is repetition. The repetition found in the recognition scene (Book XIX) is like a mirror image. The recognition scene is followed by introduction to the hunting incident, which finishes with an introduction to the hunting incident followed by the recognition scene. To better visualize this, the text takes on the mathematical format: (...recognition scene][scar story][recognition scene...). The brackets in the model indicate separation and are mirrored on each side so that the story of the scar can be slipped in more casually. The first green bracket occurs at lines 458 459, But when she bared her lord s leg, bending near, she knew the groove at once. The
  • 16. God And The Holy Spirit God has revealed himself in many different ways throughout Christian faith. Centuries ago, he gave Christians insights in ways they could understand and can be used with common every day activities and chores. He has let the people see him through his divine creations. Christians can see God at church weekly when he comes through the priest. Another way to see God daily is when someone prays and ask for his forgiveness, strength, and love. No one can see God, but he can be seen through in his works when he sent the grace of the Holy Spiritto the world. Christian faith is about trusting God, and God is with someone through the satisfactory days and the deceitful days. His revelation relates to the theological sources humanity can rely upon to know the truth. God has shown bits and pieces of who he is through prophets, apostles, and Jesus. God would reveal himself in ways each person could understand. This helped the chosen people to describe God in the scriptures. Jesus talked in parables so his followers and/or people who would be a by stander could comprehend what he was preaching about. Today, God talks to Christians through the priest of the Catholic Church during mass or any other Christian mass. God is also there during the Eucharist when Catholics receive his body and blood. So what is revelation as it pertains to God? It is how God reveals himself each and every day. God reveals himself through the beauty of nature. God can show himself in a

Anne dived into her journal by providing a brief description of her life, including the discriminatory behavior that Jews faced in Amsterdam. A month later, the Frank familywas shocked when they received a call up notice from the German SS for Margot (Anne s older sister). Due to the call up, the Frank family packed hurriedly and left a false note that they would be in Belgium. In actuality, they hid in a disused laboratory in Otto Franks (Anne s father) office. Otto s coworkers (Miep and Bep) were aware of the situation and provided food, clothing, and other necessities. Due to the increase in searches for Jews, Mr. Kugler, one of Otto s colleagues, installed a bookcase at the entrance of the secret annex.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were already enough fights between Anne and her mother, Edith Frank but Mrs. van Daan made the situation worse. Anne fostered a strong dislike of Mrs. van Daan due to the fact that Anne believed that Mrs. van Daan was too talkative and extremely petty. Furthermore, Mrs. van Daan had a habit of complaining about Anne and flirting with Otto Frank. During this time, Anne faced the brunt of nitpicking by the Frank and van Daan family because Margot was considered the perfect child and Peter van Daan was extremely shy. However, these small squabbles were resolved and the two families maintained their platonic yet strained relationship. Throughout this period, Anne began to study various subjects including French, history, and mathematics. In her journal, Anne delved into various aspects of her daily life, including the bathing system, food rationing, and current

For the floating debt, we considered the 1 year Gov. rate applying to both Lodging and restaurants divisions. Furthermore, after taking the average of both floating and fixed debt rates for both divisions respectively we added the premium above Gov. Rate to the result and arrived at the pretax cost of debt. Cost of Equity Lodging and Restaurant divisions Following the footsteps of the framework used in this analysis earlier, we would utilize the CAPM in order to calculate cost of equity for both Lodging and restaurant divisions. re = rf + ОІ (MRP) For Restaurants division we ll continue considering the risk free rate of 8.72%, based on the 10 year Gov. rate. For Lodging division we ll consider the 30 year Gov. rate of 8.95% as the risk free rate. This approach would quantify the effect of duration differences between the investments in each division. We ll consider the MRP (Market Risk Premium) of 7.43% based on the average spread between S P 500 composite returns and long term US Gov.

The U.S. boasted of the fastest internet speed, highest penetration rates, and the lowest prices in the market. The United States was then recognized as a leading knowledge economy. However, today, things have suddenly changed, a situation attributed towards lackluster government legislations that have given rise to new monopolies hence allowing countries such as Singapore, Japan, and Europe to overtake the U.S in terms of average broadband speed, penetration rates, and prices. Discovering the Concentration of Sodium Hydroxide and Citric Acid Introduction: This laboratory experiment focuses on determining the quantity of a substance that is existing in a certain solution, by using titration in the experiment, (French et al. 2014). A hypothesis for this experiment is that the unknown concentration of a solution will be identified. The objectives are to identify the concentration of citric acid and the concentration of sodium hydroxide in solutions of unknown concentration. In order to discover the concentration of a solution, acid base titration must be executed during the experiment, (French et al. 2014). The standard solution (known concentration) is reacted entirely during titration due to stoichiometry located in the equation, and because the chemical reaction is between a base and an acid, the products formed from the reaction will be salt and water, (French et al. 2014). The equivalence point occurring in an acid base titration will have the same amount of moles in H+ as in OH . The equations that are used for this acid base titration are as follows: HCl(aq)+NaOH(aq)в†’NaCl(aq)+H_2 O(l) H_2 SO_4 (aq)+2NaOH(aq)в†’гЂ–NaгЂ—_2 SO_4 (aq)+2H_2 O(l) To determine the concentration of acid in the solution, the number of NaOH moles supplemented to equivalence point must be discovered, (French et al. 2014). Because sodium hydroxide takes in water and is hydroscopic, the discovery of the concentration is required that sodium hydroxide is titrated against a
