Wasted Time In High School
Emily Sellers
Composition 1301 332
Mrs. Kinkead
24 September 2017Wasted time in High School
Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at
all. It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra
credit points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious
classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is
wasted in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in
that environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to
Compton High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they
desire. Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has
encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to
establish logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low
income students have not been given the right education.
Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class
schedules can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for
their assignments (Mathews). Mathews establishes ethos through stating the facts of wasted time in
low income schools. Mathews states that at Compton High

Danaus Plexipus
The Decline of Danaus Plexippus The Danaus plexxippus, also known as the Monarch butterfly, is
spread all throughout North America during various parts of the year. In the summer they can
migrate as far north as Canada, and during the winter months they can migrate as far south as
Mexico. Because Monarchs cannot withstand low temperatures, they make use of different habitats
during summer and cold months. They spend the spring, summer and fall months in various
places throughout the United States and Canada, and they overwinter in central Mexico.
Monarchs lay their eggs on a species of plant known as a milkweed. Because of this, Monarchs
can be found wherever there is an abundance of milkweeds. Monarchs are very ecologically
important because they provide the service of pollination to many flowers and plants. While it is
true the bees are the more prolific pollinators, Monarch butterflies are... Show more content on

For example, in 2009 during the dry season of their overwintering grounds, the Monarchs were
hit with record breaking levels of precipitation. From October through March, the overwintering
ground of Sierra Chincua was hit with 577 mm of precipitation. This was a huge increase in the
precipitation level, as the previous two seasons had only produced levels of 40 mm and 20 mm
over the same time span. With the rain, came heavy winds that blew down hundreds of oyamel firs
in the Reserve core zone and scattered the butterflies from their bough and trunk clusters. The
storms also brought major flooding, landslide and structural damage to the area. What ultimately
led to the demise of 5 10% of the wetted butterflies was the drop in temperature. Fortunately, the
severe drop to 6 degrees Celsius occurred the second morning after the storm, after the butterflies
had dried. It is estimated that 90% of the Monarchs could have died had the drop taken place while
the Monarchs were still

Executioners Way Short Story
Executioners Way was not far from Alistair s shop and they arrived at the hut in question just as
the last rays of the sun left the sky and night proper began. It was a large two story house with
bamboo walls and a palm frond roof. No light shone through and of the windows and the place
looked completely abandoned. As they approached the front door they found it shut tight and
locked. Belgarion squatted in front of the lock and, producing a small tool set, attempted to pick
the lock. Unfortunately, with night close all around them, and the heat of the jungle making
absolutely everything slick with moisture, he simply could not flip the clasp. While Belgarion
silently cursed at the stubborn lock, Lucia went around back of the hut to search for another
entrance. It was there she came upon a hidden cellar door, free of any lock or bolt. Calling out to
her companions, they descended the stairs into a small dark... Show more content on

The center of the eastern wall had folded back into itself leaving a dark hole to another room.
Tentatively, the party moved through the wall only to find another empty cellar room. Once
again, they spread out searching for another secret passage or clue as to the rooms purpose. This
time three engravings were found, each one identical to the first. Deducing the key to be the
same for this room as the last, Lucia, Belgarion, and Reginald each traced the symbols in different
sequences until the wall opened to the south. The party found three more room like this. Each one
devoid of any trappings, save the small engravings, and each one required the proper sequence to
advance. As they progressed, Drax couldn t help but notice it seemed to be getting cooler. While it
was certainly a welcome change from the suffocating jungle heat, the chill didn t feel entirely
natural. Draxes scales began to tingle and he sensed they were approaching something completely
unholy as the final wall moved

Health Literacy Paper
An understanding of literacy, and health literacy is crucial to understand their impact on client
health outcomes. Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding
of these terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy
is a set of skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to
acquire knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Literacycan be understood through
various theoretical lenses. Keefe Copeland also highlight five principles we must keep in mind
when thinking about literacy (2011). Firstly, all people are capable of acquiring literacy, however
methods of acquiring literacy vary greatly. Literacy is also a human right, given its ability to shape
human experience Literacy also serves as a crucial empowerment tool. Social interaction also
contributes to literacy; it is developed through human ability to build relationships. Lastly, literacy
is not the responsibility of an individual alone. Community, and human interaction nurture literacy
as well.
All clients possess a degree of health literacy, and like literacy, it is a human right. It is a client s
ability to understand written, spoken or numerical information, and make health care related
decisions based on the information (Eadie, 2014). A client s health literacy also has a social
component, often being influenced by their socioeconomic status, immigration status and language

Comparison Of Heaven And Lotte s Death
Edge of Heaven is a two scene film that connects as one, Yeter s Death and Lotte s Death. Both
scenes focus on six main characters. In this film, it is difficult to pinpoint a specific protagonist but
there are multiple protagonists. The characters in this film pass along the same crossroads and from
one path to another it has an influence on the individual. The scenes are connected by loss of
family and dysfunctional families, father and son and mother and daughter.
Furthermore, we see in the film that father and son, mother and daughter, are not necessarily next of
kin. For example of mother and daughter, Ayten becomes Susanne s daughter and Susanne begins
to love her as she loved her own daughter, on the other hand Ayten has previously lost her mother so
Susanne substitutes. Too in the film the return to the birthplace is seen, the first time, Yeter s
corpse is brought back from Germany, and later,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three interlocking stories take place in the same city yet the characters do not share the
same social class. Moreover, the stories become intertwined by the accident, violence, and
betrayal. How the boys fight the dogs mirrors violence, the dog fights begin to dehumanize the
humans and they become just as violence as the dogs, the violence in Ramiro and his wife s
relationship, and as well as Valeria and Daniel s verbally violent relationship. Then there is gun
violence with El Chivo, he is a hitman, and he gives the gun to the two partners. Octavio betray
his brother by trying to get his wife, Daniel betray his marriage, the two partners betray each other
and El Chivo betrays his daughter as a child. The scenes are connected through the violence and
betrayal because all the characters suffer from these elements, then the scenes become one by the
accident scene. The ending result for, if not all, then most of the characters ends,

The Monkey s Pow Comparison
The stories of The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish are both very similar to each other, but they
are also very unique in their own ways. One of the differences is that in The
Monkey s Paw the theme expressed is that, money, greed, and power will lead to all evil.
While the theme expressed in The Third Wish is that, if you love someone you should let them go.
These are two very different themes, but there are other elements that are similar in these short
stories.
One of those elements would include the mood displayed in each of these stories. In both The
Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish there is a gloomy presence over the characters that gives off
the vibe that it is a more depressing story. But, there is also a differencein the ... Show more content

considered part of the mood.
The next elements in these stories that are similar but also different and unique in their own ways
are the wishes that are wished and the resolutions of the plots. The first wishes of the main
characters are both things for themselves. From The Monkey s Paw it is for two hundred pounds,
and from The Third Wish it is for a wife as beautiful as the forest.
The second wishes made by the main characters in the two stories are both for someone else s
benefit besides their own. In The Monkey s Paw the second wish made by Mr.
White was for their dead son, Herbert, to come back to life to end his wife s grieving and sorrow. It
s the same concept with The Third Wish . In this story Mr. Peter s second wish was for his
beautiful swan wife to be turned back into a swan so she would no longer be grieving over not
being with her swan sister.
Finally the third wish made in both stories, which would resolve the plot is the wish for death, but
used in different ways. In The Monkey s Paw Mr. White wishes for his son to

How Does Lan Samantha Chang Use Symbols In Housepainting
An author often uses symbolism in order to give the reader a clue into a deeper meaning behind
the story. A symbol is an object, person, place, or experience that represents something else, usually
something abstract. Symbols challenge the readers simple explanation while relating to the
everyday experience. In order to add depth to their stories, authors often use symbols to help the
reader gain a greater understanding of the story. In the Housepainting, the author, Lan Samantha
Chang, uses the house to represent Frances happiness. When Wei tries to paint the house, Frances
begins to realize she does not want her life to change. This house is a constant in her life and as
Wei paints it, she sees her freedom fade away. She struggles with... Show more content on

A symbol that is an important part of the story is the clock. When the author is describing the
rooms he says, It was in this apartment, also, that there stood against the western wall a gigantic
clock of ebony (Poe 370). The clock symbolizes the readers lifetime. The numbers on the clock
symbolize our age. When the clock strikes 12:00 we are born and when it makes it full circle
then we die. This symbol adds to the suspense in the story, especially in the instance of when the
clock struck at each hour. The whole party went silent and the choir stopped singing. This make
the clock an important symbol in the story because it relates an everyday to have a deeper
meaning. The final symbol in The Masque of Red Death is the character Red Death. In the
introduction of the story Red Death is described as fatal and that, Blood was its Avatar and its
seal (Poe 369). Using extreme detail to describe Red Death adds to the dark and suspenseful
atmosphere of the story. When Poe uses the description, The mask which concealed the visage was
made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have
had difficulty in detecting the cheat, it adds to the creepy atmosphere of the story (Poe

Reflection About Depression
Only a handful of people know this about me, however one year ago I was diagnosed with
moderate suicidal depression. Depression is a mental illness that not only affects how you
mentally perceive reality, it affects how your brain processes and executes your actions as well.
Depression has not only changed my ways of contemplating my everyday complications , but it
has changed my belief about inner and self strength completely. Let me tell you, my depression
is the reason I am writing about my belief, in gaining strength from desperate times. Now, I m 14
years young, and have lived in two different countries, one province, and two states in a matter of
two and a half years. Which is part of the reason why I am a completely different person now.
Moving is aggravating and exasperating for really anyone who goes through it, but it has a whole
other perspective when you are a student in high school. Moving was upsetting and set my anxiety
and depression off like a firecracker, but at the same time it was an adventure that I was lucky to
have had. Why? Because it made me get out of the house and meet people. Sure, I could have
stayed inside and slept all summer, but then I might not have been here typing this as of right now.
Moving gave me strength by making me get out and find new things and new people. My
experience with depression turned my whole life around. I didn t want anything to do with school,
my family, or even myself. I didn t understand how I would try so hard

The And The Doctrine Of Salvation
Soteriology or the Doctrine of Salvation is perhaps the grandest and greatest them in Scripture. If
we look at our world it s easy to see man s condition in sin. Mankind is completely helpless when
the message of salvation is ignored. Our world remains shattered and town by the condition of sin,
but Gods gracious rescue plan through salvation and JesusChrist will redeem us all and provide a
solution to man s problems. () This union with Christ is called the magical exchange in which
Christ assumes our debts and we inherit his wealth so that nothing (Horton pg.271) will be able
to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ro 8:39) (Horton pg. 323 324) Let s
visit the different layers of salvation.
In our textbook, Horton starts with the blessing of Justification. God justifies the wicked.
Justification is a legal act, wherein God deems the sinner righteous on the basis of Christ s
righteousness. Horton tells us on pg. 280, God justifies the wicked not those who have done their
best yet have fallen short, those who might at least be judged acceptable because of the sincerity,
but those who, at the very moment of being pronounced righteous, are in themselves unrighteous.
This means full repentance, which is defined as such, as a change of mind, or a conversion from
sin to God. And the relinquishment of any practice from the conviction that has offended God.
When we accept salvation we are also testifying to God that we are a changed person from

How Did The War Measures Act Affect Canada
On August 22, 1914, the War Measures Act was put into place. The Act allowed the federal
government to do anything it felt was necessary, for the security, defence, peace, order and
welfare of Canada (Breti). The War Measures Act could get put into use when the government
believed that Canada was about to be invaded or go to war. The reason the War Measures Act was
made was so that the government could push things like bills and decisions through faster. That
way if Canada does get invaded or goes to war they would not have such long waits for something
to come through while the pressure of war is on their shoulders. However, while the Act is put in
place the government obtains powers that turns them into something that would not be... Show more

The power that had been given to the government turned it into something that did not resemble
what could be recognized as democracy today. The Act also allowed for the civil liberties of the
people to be taken away. Also, the Act was abused quite a bit by the government. The War
Measures Act was used only two times after this: during World War Two, and during the October
Crisis. During its use in World War Two Canada once again had internment camps, but this time for
the Germans and Italians. After the bombing of Pearl Harbour many Japanese were also placed into
the internment camps. During the october Crisis Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau used the War
Measures Act to be able to arrest people without having to give proof of wrongdoing. He did this
because he was searching for members of the terrorist group, Front de Liberation du Quebec,
because they had kidnapped, British trade commissioner James Cross, and kidnapped and
murdered Quebec Labour Minister Pierre Laporte (Smith). Trudeau used the Act for a good
reason, but it was still a serious infringement of the people s rights. Once again there was a
suspension of civil liberties in both World War Two and the October Crisis. However, since 1988
the War Measures Act has been replaced by the Emergencies Act. This Act limits and specifies the
certain powers the government has so that the government

Comparing the American Presidential System and the...
Comparing the American Presidential System and the Parliamentary System
As at present constituted, the federal government [of the United States of America] lacks strength
because its powers are divided, lacks promptness because its authorities are multiplied, lacks
wieldiness because its processes are roundabout, lacks efficiency because its responsibility is
indistinct and its action is without competent direction. Although this statement, by Woodrow
Wilson, was made in the 1920 s, it can still be argued today on account of the fact that not much
has changed in the way the United States government operates. Still existing in the American way

parlance). These ministers are usually not simultaneously members of the legislature, although their
appointment may require the advice and consent of the legislative branch. Because the senior
officials of the executive branch are separately elected of appointed, the presidential political
system is characterized by a separation of powers, wherein the executive and legislative branches
are independent of one another. Presidents have greater control over their cabinet appointees who
serve at the President s pleasure, and who are usually selected for reasons other than the extent of
their congressional support (as in parliamentary systems). The U.S. represents the strongest form of
presidentialism, in the sense that the powers of the executive and legislative branches are separate,
and legislatures (national and state) often have significant powers.
The parliamentary system, unlike the American presidential system, is recognizable by a fusion of
powers between the legislative and executive branches. The Prime Minister, who is the chief
executive, may be elected to the legislature in the same way that all other members are elected. The
Prime Minister is the leader of the party that wins the majority of votes to the legislature either de
facto, or in some cases through an election held by the legislature. The Prime Minister appoints
Cabinet Ministers. However, unlike in the presidential system, these members are typically

It would be beneficial for the president to meet with the founders of the movement, to discuss
what they are advocating for and how the president can intervene. Let s look back at the early
1900s. Our countries history of slavery is no secret. Although slavery was abolished decades
prior, the mindsets of those who lived during those times were stagnant. While they were freed
from slavery, for long after, African Americans were not privileged with the same freedom of
white Americans. It is common when racism is discussed that people mention when slavery was
abolished however limitations were still put on ex slaves that limited their possibility of
growing and achieving more. Foner stated, Nor could blacks, the majority desperately poor,
participate fully in the emerging consumer economy, either as employees in the new department
stores (except as janitors and cleaning women) or as purchasers of the consumer goods now

recognized. When blacks did not abide by Jim Crow laws created to keep black and whites

Diesel Burned Fuel
These engines are more powerful than regular engines and produce more power. Diesels are
slow to rev and have much lower max rpms that a gas engine. Cause of this diesels like turbos so
the air can be taken in quicker and the motor can burn the fuel better (Truck Trend). Diesels used
compressed air which is heated then fuel is shot in and combusts (Truck Trend).Because diesels
run of combustion the motor runs cooler. This means that the radiator and cooling fan can be

Diesel engines are able to burn much dirtier fuel and deliver more fuel energy diesel engines are
the engine of choice for most industrial jobs(Blackwell). Diesels soot is un burnt fuel. The
reason for the un burnt fuel is that the motor didn t have enough oxygen to mix with the fuel
(Truck Trend). High output diesels use more fuel than air which produces soot. As more fuel is
injected into the motor more soot is formed. The air/fuel ratio in diesel must be lean for
excessive amounts of black smoke not to be formed (Truck Trend). Soot is formed when all the
fuel in the cylinder is not burned (Truck Trend). Diesels that put out no smoke use less fuel than
air which causes the mpg to be better (Truck Trend). Diesels get better fuel economy than gas
engines because they use a leaner air/fuel ratio meaning more air is taken in than fuel (Truck
Trend). Diesel automobiles were popular in the 1970s and 1980s for their fuel efficiency. They are
become more popular again for the same reason(Blackwell). The reason diesels get better mpg than

The first reason why John C. Calhoun was important is because he decreased debt. For example,
during his time as U.S Secretary of State, the department s operations and accounts had many
problems involving debt. Calhoun knew this and suggested some ideas of change. Congress
agreed to those changes and ratified the army s staff structure, improved the accounting and

The Significance Of Re, The Ancient Egyptian Sun God
Re, also called Ra, was the ancient Egyptian sun god and one of the creator gods. This deity took a
multitude of forms that varied depending on his location and function. Most frequently, Re was
identified as the mid day sun, travelling by boat high in the sky above. His influence permeated all
strata of Egyptian society and culture, as his continual visible presence in the sky reinforced his
preeminence in the ancient Egyptian pantheon of gods. Throughout Egyptian history, despite the
rise and fall in prominence of other deities, Re s influence in the sky, on the earth, and in the
underworld remained intact.
In art, Re is identifiable as the solar disk, shown frequently encircled by a protective cobra, and
sometimes depicted with outstretched wings. Re was also depicted as a falcon, with a sun disk
crowning his head or portrayed with a human body and the head of a falcon. As the sun, Re had
varying forms which represented the sun at differing times of day. As the morning sun, Re was
represented with a scarab head, and as the evening sun, he was represented with the head of a
ram. At noon, he was portrayed as a falcon headed deity. Moreover, in later period of Egyptian
history, Re was merged frequently with other ancient Egyptian gods to become other forms of the
sun. For example, Re Horakhty was a combination of Re and Horus that represented the morning
sun, while Atum Re was a combination of Re and Atum that represented the evening sun. In these

A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was
no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing
games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt
I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am
passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I
was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of

Cassirer, Nietzsche and NiccolГІ Machiavelli s The Prince
When the word Renaissance is mentioned, an image of love for antiquity learning and fine arts
usually springs to one s mind. Yet this perception, however legitimate it may be in many areas of
Renaissance human achievements, shatters in the face of NiccolГІ Machiavelli s masterpiece The
Prince. Unlike his contemporary Baldassare Castiglione who exemplified subtlety, Machiavelli was
ruthlessly practical, nonchalantly callous, and admirably seamless in his logics about the bloody
art of political power.
By all accounts The Prince, is a handbook on the acquisition and maintenance of political power.

(p164, New Theory of the State ) The keen observer that was Machiavelli merely organized and
publicized the thoughts that once were only whispered amongst the political elites.
However, while The Prince can hardly be convicted of being a product of malice, what the
readers cannot forget is that Machiavelli based his Political Ruler 101 on his fundamental and
unshakable personal philosophical conviction that men are inherently self serving. Cassirer
recognizes Machiavelli for his cynical side: we shall never understand [man] as long as we are
suffering from the illusion of his original goodness (p163, New Theory of the State ). Much like
Thomas More who had the fictional More and Raphael Hythloday two halves of his same
philosophical self arguing about the practicality of an ideal society in Utopia, Ernest Cassirer
attempted to draw a distinction between Machiavelli the idealist who cherished dreams of a
Republic and Machiavelli the pragmatist who was necessarily pessimistic about the natures of
human and politics alike. The liberal Machiavelli ventured that the aim of the common people is
more honest than that of the nobles (p28); while the cynical Machiavelli claimed that any man
who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not

Growing up mischievous kids are very common to say the least. No one taught them to be like this

The theory I most agree with is the original sin, which states that all children are born with the
desire to sin. My reason for this is not only because of my religious views which plays a huge
part in my beliefs, but because of things I ve witnessed in my life. After studying the original sin
it truly made sense to me why kids are taught to do good things, but they do bad things such as

as human resource management (HRM), ensures that an organization produces maximum output
with the greatest efficiency. The role of HRM covers selecting and hiring the right employee,

Thus, masculinity proves to be strongly evident in Brunei due to the job scopes each gender
undertakes. The socio culture in Brunei s organizations stresses the importance of upholding the
national heritage to pass down to generations to come. Islamic values and teachings have been
endorsed since 16th century, which differentiates Brunei from other South East Asian Islamic or
Malay countries (Zanko amp; Nugi, 2003). Hence, Brunei is skewed towards a collectivist culture
as they are influenced by the MIB, which instills a family like culture in the workplace. Loyalty to
family and the Sultan is expected of Bruneians (Minnis, 1999). The Sultan, in a bid to improve data

Essay Health Care Reform
Health Care Reform
There has been a lot of talk and debate lately over Health Care Reform, as people are trying to
answer the question Should a universally accessible health care system be implemented in the
United States (US)? This ongoing highly debatable issue remains a hot topic among US citizens
from all walks of life, from the very poor to the very wealthy. Health Care Reform affects
everyone. The vast majority of the US population is very dissatisfied with the current state of
health care. According to the ABC News and Washington Post cooperative poll, 57 percent of
Americans aren t satisfied with the overall system of health care (Langer, 2009). Consequently, the
issue of the Health Care Reform was born, but before analyzing the ... Show more content on

Moreover, Americans have quite a diverse outlook on health insuranceand its applicability in
different situations. The Washington Post poll stated that 49 percent of people affirm the idea of
overall health insurance (if it is required). More importantly, the majority of respondents agreed on
certain major points that insurance must contain and they are: special aid to the poor (70 percent),
coverage of those, who have pre existing conditions such as disability or chronic diseases (68
percent), must be offered by the employers (62 percent), and underinsured mustn t pay into
government funds (52 percent) (Langer,2009).
Most Americans are provided with some form of insurance either through their employer or an
individual plan which is part of a public program such as Medicaid or Medicare. However, there
are still 45 million people who lack coverage (Melisa Paradis, Janelle Wood, Mary Cramer, 2009).
According to the governmental insurance plan, people who are underinsured must be protected and
have an opportunity to buy suitable medical coverage through the insurance exchange. Yet the
actual utilization of such an exchange is scheduled in the beginning of 2013, which indicates a
considerable period of waiting. America s Affordable Health Choices Act informs that people
should be provided with standardized benefit packages in order to compare the

Traditional Surrogacy And Gestational Surrogacy
HOW
Surrogacy is the arrangement of a birth of a child when the parents are not actually childbearing.
This involves a legal agreement between the surrogate and parents, that puts the child under the
care of the parents immediately after birth. The surrogate has no legal ties to the baby and formally
renounces her rights as a parent to the child. There are many different types of surrogacy and ways
in which one can do this procedure. Traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy are two of
the most popular and well known forms of surrogacy. Traditional uses intrauterine insemination
to implant the biological father s sperm into the egg of the surrogate. This procedure is typically
used when the mother s eggs or father s sperm is no longer viable. Also, this procedure is less
expensive and complex than in vitro fertilization. This procedure allows the father of the child to
be the biological sperm donor, and feel possessive over his kin. Due to the genetic relation of the
baby to the surrogate mother in this situation, the surrogate is often a relative or friend of the
parents. This can make matters more complex if there is a disagreement during the pregnancy or
after the baby is born. Although, this way the baby is still biologically related to the father and
possibly the mother, if a family member becomes their surrogate. The first legal case of
surrogacy was in 1970 with a baby by the title of, baby M. The lawyer who arranged the baby and
mother went on to develop

The Importance Of Securing Data On A Computer Device
Security is a broad term covering many aspects of the computer technology industry.
The importance of securing data on a computer device issued to an employee within a corporation
is of the utmost importance to ensuring data integrity. The data held on computer devices is the
lifeblood of the corporation. If the data on these computers is unsecured, the success of the
corporation is at risk. In order to protect the data held on computer devices within a corporation, a
security suite of applications protects against and acts upon viruses, malware, and other malicious
attacks. Corporations may also adopt a standard operating system security patching cycle to ensure
the security of the operating system code. The focus of this exercise is the Intel (McAfee) Suite of
tools and the Windows 7 Enterprise operating system.
According to the Gartner Group, Intel (McAfee) is one of the leading vendors offering endpoint
protection platforms (EPP) solutions. What is an EPP? The enterprise endpoint protection platform
(EPP) is an integrated solution that emerged in the 2006 time frame composed of previously
separate capabilities. These include Anti malware, Personal firewalls,
Host based intrusion prevention, and Port and device control. (Firstbrook et al.). The following
tables shows the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms. The Magic
Quadrant for Intel (McAfee) shows that the company resides in the Leaders quadrant.

A social system is a special order of systems... composed of persons or groups of persons who
interact and influence each other s behavior. Within this order can be included persons families,
organizations, communities, societies, and cultures (Robbins, Chatterjee amp; Canda, 2011). The
systems theory allows us to examine the focal system from a micro, meso, or macro perspective.
Keeping all of the individual systems autonomous, while still being able to conceptualize the
interrelatedness of the systems together.
Similar to the systems theory, the ecological theory embraces many of the same concepts, but has
narrowed the focus, so that it does not include such a broad view of the system. The Ecological
theory is an adaptive, evolutionary view of human beings in constant exchange interchange with all
elements of their environment (Germain amp; Gitterman, 1980, p. 5). The idea that person and the
environment are inseparable and must be considered jointly, is primary assumption of this theory.
The person and his or her environment form a unitary system in which each is dependent on the
other and directly shapes each other.
Application of theory and key concepts The sample of population of this study was derived from a
population in the urban areas of Milwaukee. Even though this study did not disclose evidence
concerning the ecosystem and the environment of the subjects, it would be fair to assume that they

Sean Mcgraw To Perlon Case Study
On Monday 04/23/17, Sherri Guidry submitted the resume of Sean McGraw to Perlon. This is
candidate that Sherri sourced through her own efforts. Sean relocated from New York to
Columbia, SC. His employer at the time (Cintas) offered to transition him to a driving position
at a rate of $12.00/HR. In New York, he was earning roughly 80K. Since he was relocated for
personal reasons related to his family and because of the difference in cost of living (SC vs NY
is about a 60% reduction), he was willing to interview for positions that paid between $10.00 to
$15.00 an hour. While Perlon did not feel he was a fit for the position Sherri submitted him for,
they did feel he was a fit for another job and offered it to him. Sean accepted the position.

The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand Franz at Sarajevo
It was a peaceful day at Sarajevo. The town had gathered to see the parade, but in the end,
witnessed a crime. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo
and expected to arrive peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family.
The assassination of Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth
century. The series of unfortunate events, the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and
the troubles that ensued because of this event were key to the beginning of World War I
.
Franz Ferdinand was traveling to Sarajevo in June 1914 to inspect the imperial armed forces in
Bonzia and Herzgovina. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian
nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back
their vehicle and injured a few officers and a few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it
to a safe place. Later in the day, Duke Franz Ferdinand went to visit the people injured. As they
turned down the street not expecting anything, BANG, the royalty had been shot. The
assassination that occurred caused two world wars, eighty thousand deaths, the Rise of Hitler.
This may not have happened if Princip had not have been hungry for a sandwich. Gavrilo looks
up from his lunch and notices his opportunity for all the fame and glory he could get from his
terrorist group, the Black Hand. He saw Franz Ferdinand just a few

After the Second Battle of Ypresthere was no longer any doubt of the courage and strength of the
Canadian troops. On May 2nd, McCrae #8217;s close friend and one time student, Lieutenant
Alexis H. Helmer was killed by a German shell. McCrae performed the burial himself in the
absence of a chaplain service that night to avoid any enemy detention. The next day during a
lull in the fighting, McCrae took a break and stared at the cemetery where his friend was buried
the day before. He noticed that each day the rows of white crosses grew longer and the field of
Flanders #8217; was carpeted with blood red poppies. John McCrae then spent twenty minutes
scribbling fifteen lines of verse on a scrap piece of paper. When he was done he took the piece of
paper and gave it to Cyril Allinson, a twenty two year old sergeant major who was delivering
mail that day. Allinson describes the seen: #8220;The poem was exactly an exact description of
the scene in front of us both. He used the word blow in that line because the poppies actually
were being blown that morning by a gentle east wind. It never occurred to me at that time that it
would ever be published. It seemed to me just an exact description of the scene. #8221; General
Morrison wrote, #8220; #8230;this poem was literally born of fire and blood during the hottest
phases of the 2nd Battle of Ypres. #8221; The poem was eventually sent to England. The

How Does Jesus Meet The Samaritan Woman
Jesus Meets the Samaritan Woman
God values every person, and He wants all of mankind to know Him personally. God is love, and
all people are worthy of His love. In John 4, Jesus encounter with a Samaritan woman
demonstrates that a believer s testimony is a powerful tool in leading others to Christ. The
Samaritans lived in an area located between Judea and Galilee. Animosity between the Jews and
the Samaritans existed for more than 400 hundred years. Samaritans had Gentile and Jewish blood.
The Jews believed that the Samaritans were a mixed breed whose religion was not true Judaism.
The Jews despised the Samaritans and Jewish travelers took a detour around Samaria in order to
avoid the Samaritans. Jesus disregarded the cultural traditions of ... Show more content on

His encounter with an insignificant Samaritan woman at a Well transforms lives and sparks a
village wide revival. The woman at the Well became a pure vessel and allowed God s living
water to flow through her to others. It does not matter that the woman is a Samaritan. Gender and
nationality are not important. The discussion between Jesus and the Samaritan woman is the
longest recorded conversation between Jesus and another person. No one is shunned in God s
community. By ignoring cultural traditions and choosing to travel through Samaria, Jesus
demonstrates that his mission is to save the entire world, not just the Jews (Freeman). God
wants everyone to receive new life in Jesus Christ and never thirst again. God s living water is
available to everyone, and it is off limits to no one. The Samaritan woman met Jesus, learned
about Him, came to believe in Him and shared her experience with others. Every Christian should
be bold and confident enough to share the Word of God with strangers, neighbors, family, and
friends. Be a vessel that God s living water can flow

Hedge Fund Vs Mutual Fund Essay
Hedge Fund vs Mutual Fund, Understanding The Differences
Dwayne Strocen
By Dwayne Strocen
Apr 30, 2010
In 1949 Australian Alfred Jones was credited with the term hedge fund . Historically it derives its
name from the use of hedging to manage risk while achieving superior returns. Today, a hedge fund
is an un regulated investment vehicle designated for sophisticated, also known as the Accredited
Investor .
Mutual funds gained popularity in the 1980 s. Prior to this time, the problem of the small investor
was in obtaining sufficient knowledge to make informed investment decisions, and so the average
person avoided stock market investing. Instead money was held in traditional savings accounts or
placed with a bank in a Guaranteed Investment Certificate ( GIC ) or Certificate of Deposit ( CD ).
What to do. The small investor was not able to obtain a professional money manager without $10
million or more to start. But what if he could pool his money with other small investors to reach this
minimum threshold. And so the mutual fund was created to address these exact concerns.
The mutual fund concept was simple, allow the un sophisticated investor access to the strategies of
the professional money manager. This was done by pooling small sums of money, as little as $20.00
deposited monthly. In return, the fund company would use professional money managers using
professional investment strategies to easily out perform traditional bank savings products.
The mutual fund investor

Persuasive Essay On Redemption
In the Bible there is a story about a cruel and hateful man named Saul. He would track down and
kill anyone belonging to the then new Christian faith, and he hated anything to do with Jesus.
He would put both men and women into prison, and he was responsible for approving the
stoning of one of the seven disciples told to go out and tell people about Jesus, Stephen. And he
is probably one of the most classic examples of redemption known to Western Christian
civilization. To put his long story concisely, he was traveling to Damascus and then Jesus
approached him from heaven, blinding him with light and telling him he needed to do what
Jesus said. Blind and helpless, he didn t eat or drink anything for three days, and then Jesus sent
a man named Ananias who was actually very much afraid of Saul to heal his blindness, because
God had chosen him to be a disciple. When Saul was healed, he turned away from his genocidal
ways, and eventually became known as Paul, a messenger of the Good News of Christ and the
main writer of a chunk of the New Testament of the Bible. This Saul to Paul effect, while one of
the earlier examples of redemption from evil acts, has certainly not been the last. Redemption has
always been a controversial topic, particularly if one s crimes are numerous and/or horrific part
of the reason the death penalty is so often debated in America for its morality. But what people
have really never agreed on is where the breaking point is of what can be forgiven and

  • 4. Wasted Time In High School Emily Sellers Composition 1301 332 Mrs. Kinkead 24 September 2017Wasted time in High School Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all. It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire. Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income students have not been given the right education. Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class schedules can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for their assignments (Mathews). Mathews establishes ethos through stating the facts of wasted time in low income schools. Mathews states that at Compton High ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Danaus Plexipus The Decline of Danaus Plexippus The Danaus plexxippus, also known as the Monarch butterfly, is spread all throughout North America during various parts of the year. In the summer they can migrate as far north as Canada, and during the winter months they can migrate as far south as Mexico. Because Monarchs cannot withstand low temperatures, they make use of different habitats during summer and cold months. They spend the spring, summer and fall months in various places throughout the United States and Canada, and they overwinter in central Mexico. Monarchs lay their eggs on a species of plant known as a milkweed. Because of this, Monarchs can be found wherever there is an abundance of milkweeds. Monarchs are very ecologically important because they provide the service of pollination to many flowers and plants. While it is true the bees are the more prolific pollinators, Monarch butterflies are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From October through March, the overwintering ground of Sierra Chincua was hit with 577 mm of precipitation. This was a huge increase in the precipitation level, as the previous two seasons had only produced levels of 40 mm and 20 mm over the same time span. With the rain, came heavy winds that blew down hundreds of oyamel firs in the Reserve core zone and scattered the butterflies from their bough and trunk clusters. The storms also brought major flooding, landslide and structural damage to the area. What ultimately led to the demise of 5 10% of the wetted butterflies was the drop in temperature. Fortunately, the severe drop to 6 degrees Celsius occurred the second morning after the storm, after the butterflies had dried. It was a large two story house with bamboo walls and a palm frond roof. No light shone through and of the windows and the place looked completely abandoned. As they approached the front door they found it shut tight and locked. Belgarion squatted in front of the lock and, producing a small tool set, attempted to pick the lock. Unfortunately, with night close all around them, and the heat of the jungle making absolutely everything slick with moisture, he simply could not flip the clasp. While Belgarion silently cursed at the stubborn lock, Lucia went around back of the hut to search for another entrance. It was there she came upon a hidden cellar door, free of any lock or bolt. Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding of these terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy is a set of skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to acquire knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Let me tell you, my depression is the reason I am writing about my belief, in gaining strength from desperate times. Our world remains shattered and town by the condition of sin, but Gods gracious rescue plan through salvation and JesusChrist will redeem us all and provide a solution to man s problems. () This union with Christ is called the magical exchange in which Christ assumes our debts and we inherit his wealth so that nothing (Horton pg.271) will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ro 8:39) (Horton pg. 323 324) Let s visit the different layers of salvation. In our textbook, Horton starts with the blessing of Justification. God justifies the wicked. Justification is a legal act, wherein God deems the sinner righteous on the basis of Christ s righteousness. Horton tells us on pg. 280, God justifies the wicked not those who have done their best yet have fallen short, those who might at least be judged acceptable because of the sincerity, but those who, at the very moment of being pronounced righteous, are in themselves unrighteous. This means full repentance, which is defined as such, as a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God. And the relinquishment of any practice from the conviction that has offended God. Comparing the American Presidential System and the Parliamentary System As at present constituted, the federal government [of the United States of America] lacks strength because its powers are divided, lacks promptness because its authorities are multiplied, lacks wieldiness because its processes are roundabout, lacks efficiency because its responsibility is indistinct and its action is without competent direction. Although this statement, by Woodrow Wilson, was made in the 1920 s, it can still be argued today on account of the fact that not much has changed in the way the United States government operates. Because the senior officials of the executive branch are separately elected of appointed, the presidential political system is characterized by a separation of powers, wherein the executive and legislative branches are independent of one another. Presidents have greater control over their cabinet appointees who serve at the President s pleasure, and who are usually selected for reasons other than the extent of their congressional support (as in parliamentary systems). The U.S. represents the strongest form of presidentialism, in the sense that the powers of the executive and legislative branches are separate, and legislatures (national and state) often have significant powers. The parliamentary system, unlike the American presidential system, is recognizable by a fusion of powers between the legislative and executive branches. The Prime Minister, who is the chief executive, may be elected to the legislature in the same way that all other members are elected. The Prime Minister is the leader of the party that wins the majority of votes to the legislature either de facto, or in some cases through an election held by the legislature. In this essay, we will be looking into a case study of HRM in Brunei and will cover three topics. The Sultan, in a bid to improve data entry efficiency, transparency and eliminate the use of paper, is implementing a new form of technology. The system, also known as Government Employee Management System (GEMS), is being implemented in three main sectors: government employees, human resource administrators and the public. GEMS will permit the sharing of documents, leave applications and benefits entitlement to be accessible any time, anywhere. There has been mixed reactions toward the implementation of GEMS, with some preferring to stick with the old system, as it is in Malay, which is their national language. It may cause stress to older employees who have difficulty keeping up with technological advances and learning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Traditional Surrogacy And Gestational Surrogacy HOW Surrogacy is the arrangement of a birth of a child when the parents are not actually childbearing. This involves a legal agreement between the surrogate and parents, that puts the child under the care of the parents immediately after birth. The surrogate has no legal ties to the baby and formally renounces her rights as a parent to the child. There are many different types of surrogacy and ways in which one can do this procedure. Traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy are two of the most popular and well known forms of surrogacy. Traditional uses intrauterine insemination to implant the biological father s sperm into the egg of the surrogate. This procedure is typically used when the mother s eggs or father s sperm is no longer viable. Also, this procedure is less expensive and complex than in vitro fertilization. This procedure allows the father of the child to be the biological sperm donor, and feel possessive over his kin. Due to the genetic relation of the baby to the surrogate mother in this situation, the surrogate is often a relative or friend of the parents. This can make matters more complex if there is a disagreement during the pregnancy or after the baby is born. Although, this way the baby is still biologically related to the father and possibly the mother, if a family member becomes their surrogate. The first legal case of surrogacy was in 1970 with a baby by the title of, baby M. The lawyer who arranged the baby and mother went on to develop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The importance of securing data on a computer device issued to an employee within a corporation is of the utmost importance to ensuring data integrity. The data held on computer devices is the lifeblood of the corporation. If the data on these computers is unsecured, the success of the corporation is at risk. In order to protect the data held on computer devices within a corporation, a security suite of applications protects against and acts upon viruses, malware, and other malicious attacks. Corporations may also adopt a standard operating system security patching cycle to ensure the security of the operating system code. The focus of this exercise is the Intel (McAfee) Suite of tools and the Windows 7 Enterprise operating system. A social system is a special order of systems... composed of persons or groups of persons who interact and influence each other s behavior. Within this order can be included persons families, organizations, communities, societies, and cultures (Robbins, Chatterjee amp; Canda, 2011). The systems theory allows us to examine the focal system from a micro, meso, or macro perspective. Keeping all of the individual systems autonomous, while still being able to conceptualize the interrelatedness of the systems together. Similar to the systems theory, the ecological theory embraces many of the same concepts, but has narrowed the focus, so that it does not include such a broad view of the system. The Ecological theory is an adaptive, evolutionary view of human beings in constant exchange interchange with all elements of their environment (Germain amp; Gitterman, 1980, p. 5). The idea that person and the environment are inseparable and must be considered jointly, is primary assumption of this theory. The person and his or her environment form a unitary system in which each is dependent on the other and directly shapes each other. McCrae performed the burial himself in the absence of a chaplain service that night to avoid any enemy detention. God is love, and all people are worthy of His love. In John 4, Jesus encounter with a Samaritan woman demonstrates that a believer s testimony is a powerful tool in leading others to Christ. The Samaritans lived in an area located between Judea and Galilee. Animosity between the Jews and the Samaritans existed for more than 400 hundred years. Samaritans had Gentile and Jewish blood. The Jews believed that the Samaritans were a mixed breed whose religion was not true Judaism. Today, a hedge fund is an un regulated investment vehicle designated for sophisticated, also known as the Accredited Investor . Mutual funds gained popularity in the 1980 s. The small investor was not able to obtain a professional money manager without $10 million or more to start. But what if he could pool his money with other small investors to reach this minimum threshold. And so the mutual fund was created to address these exact concerns. The mutual fund concept was simple, allow the un sophisticated investor access to the strategies of the professional money manager. This was done by pooling small sums of money, as little as $20.00 deposited monthly. In return, the fund company would use professional money managers using professional investment strategies to easily out perform traditional bank savings products. The mutual fund investor ... • 51. Persuasive Essay On Redemption In the Bible there is a story about a cruel and hateful man named Saul. He would track down and kill anyone belonging to the then new Christian faith, and he hated anything to do with Jesus. He would put both men and women into prison, and he was responsible for approving the stoning of one of the seven disciples told to go out and tell people about Jesus, Stephen. And he is probably one of the most classic examples of redemption known to Western Christian civilization. To put his long story concisely, he was traveling to Damascus and then Jesus approached him from heaven, blinding him with light and telling him he needed to do what Jesus said. Blind and helpless, he didn t eat or drink anything for three days, and then Jesus sent a man named Ananias who was actually very much afraid of Saul to heal his blindness, because God had chosen him to be a disciple. When Saul was healed, he turned away from his genocidal ways, and eventually became known as Paul, a messenger of the Good News of Christ and the main writer of a chunk of the New Testament of the Bible. This Saul to Paul effect, while one of the earlier examples of redemption from evil acts, has certainly not been the last. Redemption has always been a controversial topic, particularly if one s crimes are numerous and/or horrific part of the reason the death penalty is so often debated in America for its morality.
