Creeley s Poetry
Thoreau once said, Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! This is the basis of Creeley s poetry and parts of
his life. He is well known for teaching with the Black Mountain Poets in North Carolina and leading a
poetic style that focuses on the minimization of words that provides a larger effect for the reader. The
simplicity also leads to a very open window to his own feelings without the poetic labyrinth of rhyme
and meter. Creeley s poems fully encompass human strife and the pondering question of how it should
be solved, which relates to his life as it relates to the twentieth century in areas such as wartime strife,
political ideology and lessons in life. First of all, Creeley really focused on the humanistic aspect of
the troubles during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a lot of his major works coming from times of war as well as golden advancement he did focus
on what was the current political stance of the major parts of the world. He, like many minds, found
communism to be ill fated with nothing coming from it but ruin. The Names , published in 1959 is a
nod to communism rising in Vietnam. The main government figures, All five of us...(Creely 3) took
their own holds on government together under the name of the dictator and ...sat in the broken seat
(Creeley 4) which Creeley would easily say as he noticed the fractures in the seat of government with
ease. His political diction is simplistic yet hitting to the thoughts that the unspoken wish to speak up.
His connects to his life because he associated himself with many intellectuals which would almost
inevitably lead to the world of politics. His primary associations were with the Black Mountain Poets
as well as some figures related to his Harvard education where he did publish works for a while
despite his dislike of the professors due to their cynical nature. Another example of his political
writings would be during 1968 which one poem would assumedly focus on the peace talks between
America and the North Vietnamese and the later assassination of president Kennedy which took place
slightly over a month before the issue of Poetry that this poem was published for. To Robert he was
hoping that the peace talks that were taking place would lead to the Lake of clear water (Creely 1 I ll
be here ) which symbolizes the fate of the foreign tensions that Creely hoped would be achieved. Why
don t you go home and sleep and come back and talk some more(Creely 5 6) clearly shows his opinion
that the peace talks are essential and his clear hope for a perfect ending. He wants the negotiators to
ensure that even after a night falls they will still seek peace instead of viewing them in a murky way

Joanne Beard s The Fourth State Of Matters
Personal Statement: It happened when I was a first semester senior in high school. I do not remember
the exact day, time, or what the weather was like, but I remember the moment. I gripped the over
annotated, photocopied packet in my eager fingers so that my sweaty fingers made print marks on the
black speckled page. And I read. I cried. And my dream changed. Before reading The Fourth State of
Matter , a New Yorker personal history piece by Joanne Beard, I decided I wanted to be a writer,
specifically a journalist. I wrote countless sports articles for our high school newspaper, The Crimson
Sun, and by my junior year I was the editor of the Sports and Advertisement sections. However, a little
over halfway through Beard s piece, the

The Continuing Immigration Debate Summary
Mark Rosenblum, US IMMIGRATION POLICY SINCE 9/11 Mark Rosenblum s U.S Immigration
Policy Since 9/11 does not provide an argument but rather he describes challenges, and identifies
questions central to the future of the U.S immigration debate. Overall, it seems that prior to 9/11 it
seemed migration negotiations were stalled every time. Whether this was done purposely or is merely
a coincidence is my concern.
Rosenblum states that migration negotiations going well until 2001, post 9/11 period, when migration
negotiations with Mexico collapsed (1). Rosenblum goes on to illustrate how policy changed after
9/11, resulting in five sweeping antiterrorism measures that fall into three groups (4). No matter which
category the measures fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Garcia uses surveys to examine various aspects of immigration policy, behavior, and settlement. It is
refreshing to hear that immigrants do not let policy influence their destination of settlement. I would
imagine that policy would have an immense impact on dynamics such as this. In addition, it was not
surprising that economic and social factors more prominently shape immigrants settlements and
residency patterns (1). This perspective was refreshing and different compared to others. Research

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Person Focused Pay Programs
Although, person focused pay programs present many advantages, there are some highly significant
disadvantages to person focused pay programs. The main disadvantages are person focused pay
programs can encompass increase in hourly labor, training, and overhead costs, the system s many not
connect and interlock well with existing incentive pay systems, they depend on well designed training
programs, and because companies have a problem with determining the monetary value of skills and
knowledge (Martocchio, 2013).
Some obvious disadvantages of person focused pay systems that need to be considered. The first is the
pay rates they tend to produce. The very essence of the system encourages individuals to become more
valuable to the organization. This conveys that they have to be paid more than they would under a
traditional pay system that limits growth, development, and therefore, value.
Hence, person focused pay systems typically have higher average hourly wages than traditional pay
systems. Since skill based pay systems give everyone the opportunity to learn multiple skills, a large
investment is made in training and, of course, training is costly in terms of paying trainers and losing
production time. Furthermore, the more serious problem is that when individuals are constantly
learning new jobs, production losses and problems result because inexperienced people are performing
the work. Because employees are always trying to leam new skills under this kind of pay system,

The Oscar Whiteness Machine, By Richard Brody
The Oscar Whiteness Machine, written by Richard Brody, was published in the online The New
Yorker January 21st, 2016. The author has written for the New Yorker since 1999 and has been one of
their white movie critics, one of the subjects of this article, since 2005. In the Article Brody takes the
stance of a social justice warrior, proclaiming war on all those complicit in the disparity between
white and black; especially in the film arena. His subject changes with paragraphs, movie critics,
Oscar nominees and watchers, readers of the article, and anyone discriminatory. The Oscar Whiteness
Machine is a mix of genres but it gets its main point across, black people have been discriminated
against in the Oscars, and in life, and the film business plays a role in the suppression of black culture.
We honor the best and whitest. Neil Patrick Harris s opening line at the Oscars in 2015 does a good
job at pointing out one of the flaws of the award show that Richard Brody so passionately writes
about. The article, while aimed at the Oscars, however, encompasses a wider issue. According to
Brody this issue is the whiting out of movies about black experience. and looking at the past two years
of nominations and winners, I wouldn t say he s wrong (Brody 1). Brody uses logos to point out the
overwhelming evidence of the best movies by black filmmakers have gone utterly unnoticed by the
Academy (Brody 2). He names actors like Danny Glover and Alfre Woodard who have never been

Chickenpox lesions can become infected, usually from scratching and most frequently with bacteria
called Staphylococcus These secondary infections may be severe enough to require hospitalization.
The virus is contained in the body fluids and in the lesions of skin and mucosa. It is transmitted from
person to person by droplet infection through the respiratory tract. Rarely the condition may be caused
by exposure to a case of Herpes Zoster. Once the virus enters the body it rests and reproduces in the
lymph nodes of the body for about 3 to 4 days before it travels to the blood to infect the spleen and
liver. It finally rests in the nerve roots near the spinal cord till it is activated. No trigger maybe needed
for its activation, but sometimes it waits for events like stress or diminished immunity before it
attacks. [9]
How chickenpox spread
Chickenpox is one of the most readily communicable diseases. It can be spread from person to person
by direct contact with fluid from the blisters or with secretions from the respiratory tract or by
handling an infected person s clothing or bedding. Airborne transmission is possible through sneezing
and coughing. Susceptibility to chickenpox is universal among those not previously infected. The
greatest number of cases occur in the winter and early spring. [1] The

The Man Who Was Almost a Man
I am going to write a sequel to the short passage, The Man Who Was Almost A Man, which was
written by Richard Wright. I am going to start from the time where Dave received the pistol, to the
time where he got in trouble. After buying the pistol, Dave walks around the fields with it, admiring
the gun but too scared and unsure of how to fire it. He is very anxious about firing the gun. He waits
until it s dark and he s sure everyone has already fallen asleep before going home, and he puts the gun
underneath his pillow instead of giving it to his mother as he d promised. Mrs. Saunders approaches
him in the middle of the night and quietly asks for the gun, but Dave tells her that he stashed it outside
and will give it to her in the morning. When he wakes up, Dave removes the gun and holds it in his
hands, realizing that he now has the power to actually kill someone. He quietly gets out of bed and
hides the pistol in his clothes. He then heads out to the fields where he works, and he accidentally runs
into his boss, Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins knows this is very suspicious of Dave being out s early and
Dave tells him he is just out trying to enjoy the nice breeze outside. Mr. Hawkins tells him to carry on,
but deep down inside Mr. Hawkins knows something is wrong. Once Dave gets far away from where
anybody can see him he finally gains the courage to actually pull the trigger. He doesn t take the
proper aim and is not even holding the gun the right way and he accidentally

early age when he would help his father out by working on his 5 acre kiwi farm. Dan loved farming

half of his time in the office and the other half out in the fields or working with people in other
industries of agriculture. I was surprised to find out how much interaction he has with lower level
employees and how much time he actually spends in the fields with the product. I learned about the
unpredictability and fast pace of this job as well. He stated that he never has the same day twice and
really doesn t know what he is going to do each day until he gets his first phone call in the morning. I
found this interesting because it forces you to adapt to situations very quickly and think on your feet. I
also learned that in agriculture you have to be a price taker. This means you cannot be set on a price
because competitors, changes in the market, and quality of each harvested produce can change the
price consumers are willing to pay. Negotiating and financially doing the best things for the company

Sewage Reclamation And Wastewater Reclamation
Introduction: Need for wastewater reclamation
Wastewater reclamation is the process whereby wastewater is treated using physical, chemical and
even biological methods, so that the effluent obtained can be used again, providing that it meets a
series of parameters which varies according to its use. The need for wastewater reclamation has
increased due to the ever increasing demand for water which has led to a rise in water stress both in
terms of quality and quantity of water (Gerke S., 2001). With wastewater reuse the water stress will be
alleviated. Constructed wetlands provide a cheaper and environmentally friendly means of treating
wastewater so that it can be reused (Kivaisi K. A., 2001). Constructed wetlands makes use of the

T. C., 2006).
The wastewater reclamation can also be classified based on the constructed wetlands used for their
treatment. Constructed wetlands can be divided into two major groups, namely surface flow or sub
surface flow. The latter can be further sub divided into vertical or horizontal flow. There are many
more types of wetlands available but the ones above are the main ones currently in use.
Criteria for wastewater reuse Wastewater contains a host of physical, chemical and biological
components, it is therefore primordial to have standards which govern the usage of the treated
wastewater. Since the treated wastewater can have different uses such as for irrigation, in industries or
even aquifer recharge, different standards are required. The restricted agriculture irrigation means that
the crops irrigated must imperatively be cooked before consumption and therefore require less
stringent parameters. Another use which does not require stringent parameters is industrial cooling, as
there is less chance of humans coming into contact with the treated wastewater.
The origin of the wastewater is another determining factor in terms of criteria which must be met
before wastewater can be used again. For example, wastewater obtained from certain industries
(textile) may contain heavy metals which may be harmful to humans and other organisms alike

Brett Ratner Research Paper
Chances are most people have seen at least one film by Brett Ratner. He is a film director. A fun and
interesting fact about his films is that the opening scene always has one of the characters singing (Add
Citation). He became famous when Steven Spielberg helped him with his senior project at Tisch
School of the arts. What really sets Brett Ratner apart from other movie directors is his Spanish
heritage and influence. His mother was Cuban, and he was born in Miami, Florida; an area still
heavily influenced by Spanish culture (Add Citation). Brett Ratner is an important figure in the
entertainment industry, who continues to bring moves like Red Dragon, Tower Heist, and most
recently, Hercules to theaters everywhere. One of Brett Ratner s better known films was Red Dragon.

One fails to see how his work can stand the test of time. With top actors like Eddie Murphy, Dwayne
Johnson, and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, it could be argued that casting is Brett Ratner s sole
talent. I believe Brett Ratner will not be remembered through time because the majority of his movies
are remakes and lack creativity. On the other hand, if he is remembered, it will most likely be for his
mediocrity, similar to the way people mock Twilight and Sharknado today. If I were in Brett Ratner s
shoes, I would stop trying to reinvent the wheel, and stick to original movies. That much is obvious,
seeing as how only the original movie of all three movies discussed rates above a two. Aside from an
ending that fails to tie up loose ends, Tower Heist was fantastic. If he absolutely must do remakes,
perhaps he would achieve greater success by taking classic tales and putting a spin on them, like
Disney s Once Upon a Time. For example, he could have combined two Greek hero stories and made
Odysseus vs. Hercules, I for one would have loved

The Things They Carried by Tim O’brien
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien
Plot:
1. RISING ACTION In the summer of 1968, Tim O Brien receives a draft notice. Despite a desire to
follow his convictions and flee to Canada, he feels he would be embarrassed to refuse to fulfill his
patriotic duty and so concedes to fight in Vietnam.
CLIMAX During their tour of duty, the men of the Alpha Company must cope with the loss of their
own men and the guilt that comes from killing and watching others die.
FALLING ACTION After he returns from war, O Brien grapples with his memories by telling stories
about Vietnam.
2. MAJOR CONFLICT The men of the Alpha Company, especially Tim O Brien, grapple with the
effects both immediate and long term of the Vietnam War.

O Brien gains a new perspective on his experiences in Vietnam when he thinks about how he should
relay the story of the man he killed to his impressionable young daughter.
Kathleen also stands for the gap in communication between one who tells a story and one who
receives a story. When O Brien takes her to Vietnam to have her better understand what he went
through during the war, the only things that resonate to the ten year old are the stink of the muck and
the strangeness of the land. She has no sense of the field s emotional significance to O Brien, and thus
does not understand his behavior there, as when he goes for a swim.
Linda
Linda represents elements of the past that can be brought back through imagination and storytelling.
Linda, a classmate of O Brien s who died of a brain tumor in the fifth grade, symbolizes O Brien s
faith that storytelling is the best way for him to negotiate pain and confusion, especially the sadness
that surrounds death. Linda was O Brien s first love and also his first experience with death s senseless
arbitrariness. His retreat into his daydreams after her funeral provided him unexpected relief and
rationalization. In his dreams, he could see Linda still alive, which suggests that through imagination
which, for O Brien, later evolves into storytelling the dead can continue to live.
Linda s presence in the story makes O Brien s earlier stories about Vietnam more universal. The

XFL Case Study
In just one season, the XFL turned from idea to failure. While there are many reasons to failure, I
believe the lack of talent and leadership, being a fox in relationship to the hedgehog concept, as well
as positioning, were the main issues. Vince McMahon, the owner of the WWFE and XFL showed very
few level 5 leadership characteristics. He was very loud and attention loving, always taking
responsibility for the success of his company. He showed very little personal humility or professional
will. When creating the XFL, McMahon followed the what first, then who mentality. He created rules,
teams, and a general attitude of the league and broadcasts before having any players, coaches, owners,
or announcers in place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The XFL s partnership with NBC was a severe positioning mistake. The network s primetime
audience was a steadily aging, urban, well educated group. Viewer s median salary was $60,000 and
no other network had as many viewers with income over $75,000 as NBC. They had strength in
sitcoms and drama, staying away from reality shows. Sporting events included golf, the Olympics, and
Wimbledon all appealing to the middle to upper class. The XFL s brand was the complete opposite of
the network s brand. WWF fans were offensive, degrading young males (12 34), resembling the
cartoon nature of the sport. They were drawn to the sexuality, aggressive commentary, and individual
characters that the XFL was producing. XFL team logos and names were even chosen by 13 16 year
old male focus groups. On the other hand, NFL fans were primarily older (over 35), male, and middle
class. They believed in rules and structure, team play and being able to take sides. Football fans
quickly took offense to the raunchy happenings of the XFL and the boring on field performances.
Rules were changed week after week, showing no consistency. Announcers were unknowledgeable,
angering fans who tuned in to hear professional commentary. There was a reason why Las Vegas was
the only successful team when it came to the XFL. It was sin city, a place where the image of the
league was portrayed. Football fans wanted to see good

American School System
The American school system is absolutely broken. A product of terrible teachers and administrators,
horrible districts, and our country s inability to fix the inherent flaws of the system. We sit back as the
youth of our proud nation spend their days in the factory we call school. Factory because schools are
not designed to teach our children. These factories throw knowledge at the kids left and right. There
are so many bits and pieces of information being hurled around at once. With the vast expanse of
knowledge entering the minds of young people during the day, one would assume the child would rise
to become educated. But the problem is, schooling by itself creates no intelligent people. Schools are

But something we do not think about is merely pure luck. We look at smart and successful individuals
and attribute their success to themselves. It is the fantasy like concept of the American self made man.
This dreamlike concept is completely shattered by the idea that successful individual are, above all
else, lucky. If we look at Nobel prize winners and their backgrounds, we see that many of them are
from areas with good schools. These communities with lots of support, minimal drug use, and
basically zero murders, nurture great minds. That is the luck of the intellectual at play. Take into
account this hypothetical example. Two boys are born in the same time periods with the same drive to
succeed. Both boys go about schooling with the same initial enthusiasm. The difference between them
is that one lives in a clean district with a great school. This child never stops performing. Partially
because of great teachers, and partially because of the support from home. This child is not influenced
by all of the harmful things of inner city environments. But the other boy is. The other boy was
unlucky enough to be born into a family who does not love him. This boy lives in poverty, has seen his
mother doing bad things, and the schools barely teach him a single thing. Frustrated with school the

The Importance Of Romantic Literature
In conclusion of her famous Letter to the Women of England, on the Injustice of Mental Subordination
(1799), Mary Robinson listed in alphabetical order the names of over forty contemporary women
writers who by the prevalent injustice and literary subordination were not or only partially recognized
for their contributions to the British literary community of the romanticism era. The list contained the
names of well known and relatively obscure women writers, poets, novelists, essayists and dramatists,
including the likes of well known Mary Wollstonecraft, Ann Radcliffe, and the relatively unknown
author of Biography, letters, c. Mrs. Thickness . In her closing assertion, she stated that there are men
who affect, to think lightly of the literary productions of women: and yet no works of the present day
are so universally read as theirs . This assertion resonates with Stephen C. Brehrendt s position on the
fate and honor accorded to women writers, novelists, essayists, dramatists and particularly poets of the
romanticism era, and the need to rewrite and remap the concept of influence, and the structuralism
literary and cultural theory that tends to want to place women at the periphery of romantic poetry
rather than the center where they truly belong in his article the New Romanticism for Old: Displacing
Our Expectations and Our Models . In his article, he opined like Mary Robinson, that the activities
and literary works of British women authors were as influential as

Oppression In Lolita
In Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Humbert Humbert is a disgusting pedophile who took Lolita s self
worth as he realizes his mistake as he is locked in prison until he dies. People are mistreated every
day, but still rely on the abuser. Lolita may seem like a victim but she is really in control of everything
which is seen in her controlling where they go, her manipulation of Humbert, and leaving right as
soon as Humbert was not of any use to her.
Reading through the story, people will think or see that Lolita is an innocent little girl who is a victim
of Humbert. She was just a child who knew nothing (43). She is seen as any other child who likes to
play around and goes around doing what they want, not knowing anything. Doing things that she ...

All along during the story, Lolita knows that Humbert does attempt to violate her several times when
he was her mother s husband (147). She wanted to escape from him and when she had the chance
from Quilty, she took it. She takes advantage of any kind of moment she can get, so she can have the
life she wanted and she knows that she does not deserve the life she is having. By starting over would
mean she will have a happy life and she thought she did when her and Humbert began their extensive
travel all over the States (102). The life she wanted was showing and that is why she did everything
that Humbert wanted him to do and she thought it would work out like she thought. By travelling, she
will be able to go to places and will see where she wanted to go live at and start the life she wanted.
She is like that, because of how Humbert is firmly resolved to pursue my policy of sparing her purity
(89). She notices that Humbert treats her as an object instead of an individual and she does not like
that, that is why she is trying to get away from him. Trying to get away from Humbert is a first step
for her, so she can find a new person who can actually treat her like she deserve it and will treat her
like a person. This is why Lolita is the way she is, because she knows her childhood is being ruined by
Humbert and she just wanted to leave him so she can start

Classical Vs. Neoclassical Theory
Value is a concept that has played a major role in the development of political economy and
mainstream economics, however, in today s context it is not often discussed. This being true, the
debate surrounding value and how to define it remains an important one for today s society. The
debate when looked at from the classical and neoclassical perspective centres on whether value is
inherent or whether it is an outcome of human desires, comparing Ricardo s labour theory of value
and Smith s adding up theory with the neoclassical school s focus on demand and supply, marginal
utility and equilibrium price given maximising individuals. The classical model, especially with its
focus on scarcity is strong, however, it is the neoclassical argument that is most relevant today as it
complements the highly globalised and technological economy of the present day.
Classical Political Economic theory can be traced back to the late seventeenth century, when demand
for commodity production was rapidly increasing. Following 1670, Sir William Perry came close to
defining the exchange value of a commodity by the amount of labour needed to produce it. Richard
Cantillon went beyond this by separating the intrinsic value of a commodity, being the labour and land
needed to produce it from its market price. This resulted in the foundation for Adam Smith s Wealth of
Nations where he developed three distinct methods for determining a commodity s true value. The

Psychoanalytic Theory And Depth Psychology
Claudia Segal
Question #1
1. Write a short essay in which you describe and discuss what you consider to be at least one major
strength or intellectual contribution and at least one major weakness of Freud s version of
psychoanalytic theory and depth psychology. In your essay, show your understanding of key Freudian
concepts 20 pts. (2 pages)
Sigmund Freud s primary version of psychoanalytical theory presented in the late 19th century is one
that has withstood the tests of time; with just a few exceptions. Freud s psychoanalytical theory which
is comprised of many of Freud s very unique and great theories like the tripartite mind, psychosexual
developmental stages, and defense mechanisms gave insight into the inner workings of the mind that
until then had not yet been discovered nor explored. After all, psychoanalysis centers on exposing the
human unconscious by viewing human behavior through a deterministic lens, meaning that the mind is
governed by the unconscious, instinctual drives, and other forces.
Some of his theories such as his concept on the existence and meaning of psychosexual developmental
stages fall under being deterministic; this is because Freud was a strong believer in psychic
determinism, which is a type of determinism that theorizes that all mental processes are determined by
the unconscious or preexisting mental complexes. There lies one of Freud s greatest weaknesses in my
opinion, as over time the popularity for determinism has shifted to humanism,

The Impact Of Marketing On Consumer s Choice And Behavior...
Methodology Literature Review
Abdullah Almarzuqi
Central Michigan University
Introduction Consumer s decisions are mainly influenced by how well they know the product. The
appearance of the product too influences the consumer s choice and behavior. This makes the firms to
use branding as a way to increase customer s awareness on their products. Branding is tending to be
inevitable for the firms these days. Branding has a great influence on consumer s decisions. Firms are
getting a greater challenge to ensure that they continuously remain up to date when it comes to
different forms of advertisement and marketing strategies. This ensures that they acquire consumer s
loyalty, increase the market share of their brands and increase the volume of their brands they sell. In
my research, I will use interview as a methodology that I can use to get more information from the
consumers. I will use interviews to conduct research to come up with a summary of how well
branding impacts the decisions of a consumer. Branding can be defined as packaging of a product in
different ways so as attract more consumers by making it look more appealing. It helps create a name,
symbol or design of a product that differentiates it from the others. The consumers can identify a
product by its branding features. Interview is research methodology that is used to acquire information
from the respondents. It involves asking the consumers questions directly and giving them a chance to

Sisterhood Of Prickwillow Place
The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place is a crazy romp of an adventure featuring seven
strong ladies as the protagonists, all of them possessing unique skills and interests. The premise is
ludicrous, the resulting charade insane, and the likelihood of success increasingly infinitesimal and yet
it is impossible not to cheer these ladies on. Julie Berry offers a fresh, fun boarding school mystery
that celebrates sisterhood and dares girls everywhere to dream the impossible.
I knew from the beginning that I was going to love this story. When the headmistress of their school
and her younger brother both fall dead during Sunday dinner, the young ladies neither scream nor
faint, but immediately jump into action, checking for signs of life, gathering evidence of the crime,
and planning their future. Smooth Kitty, the planner and business woman of the group, proposes that
the seven girls hide the murders so they can continue living together, rather than return home to the
parents who do not want them and the siblings who torment them. These girls desire the freedom to
pursue their own interests and to live their own lives, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to
achieve that. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clack! Clack! Clack! Is the echo of two nerve wracking phalanges popping as if these two divisions of

the top figures in education, such as principals and teachers compared with students carry this heavy

Does Rome Have Too Much Power Essay
Winston Churchill once said, History is written by the victors. Humans are so consumed with what is
spoken, written, or otherwise presented of themselves; who presents it however, controls how the
situation is perceived. From ancient Rome to modern America, countries of great power have
perfected the art of telling stories from one side, the winners view. The Roman Empire was possibly
the most successful and influential empire to ever exist. The empire s success was a result of military
conquering extending throughout most of southern Europe and northern Africa. After overcoming the
opponents Romans would inhabit new territories and instill their culture upon the unwilling new

Efficient Society or Vacant Humanity
Extended Definition
Preventing the wasteful use of a particular resource is one of the definitions of the word efficient. The
most common thought when people hear the word efficient is that when something is efficient it is
better than something that by comparison is not as efficient. Now we have gas efficient cars, energy
efficient appliances and as many highly efficiently people would say we are working to have a more
efficient society. What is the cost of more efficiency, in many things of course the more efficient the
better, with more energy efficient cars and appliances we are saving our planet reducing car emissions
make for cleaner air that we all breathe and will make us less reliant on fuel and other natural
resources. Can a real value or cost be put on the human mind and spirit, what happens to people when
they are set aside or determined to be of little or no use, what happens when people begin to question
their own worth in the world.
In Jeremy Rifkin s book Time Wars includes the reading selection The Efficient Society he is
analytical in his explanation of what is being considered to be an efficient society. In the critical
analysis he details the time management scenarios that are addressed to make more efficient workers.
Corporations need to produce more work from each of its workers and the way that the companies

program. At the current moment I work at the Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) in
downtown Orlando as a patient sitter and many staff members have recommended this nursing
program to me and shared how great the program is. After much research I have decided that JU
accelerated nursing program is perfect for me. I could not find anything wrong or dislike anything
about this program or even the area the program is located in. I have had the opportunity to talk to a
few nurses that have graduated from JU nursing program and are currently working as nurses. They ve
expressed how great the program is and it changed their lives. I love the small classes that JU has to
offer, which gives the professors a little bit of time to have one on one time with the students and
allow the students to have time to ask questions. Another aspect I love about JU is, as of 2015, 83.50%

Customers may consider to not purchase our product first until their income is stable.
Below is a graph on Malaysia s inflation rate
(International Monetary Fund 2011 World Economic Outlook)
In year 2010 the inflation rate in Malaysia has increase to 1.7% from 0.6% in 2009. Irobot is hoping
the inflation to decrease in 2011 and 2012.
Increased fuel price
The current increased price in fuel since 2 years causes irobot Company to have a slightly lower profit
margin as now we have to increase our fuel expenses.
For every litre of RON 95, the actual price is RM2.75, and the price of RM1.90 at the pump translates
to a subsidy of 85 sen, or 31% of the actual price. (Anthony, 6 October 2011)
Therefore, starting from 2012, the decrease price of fuel will allow our company to spend lesser on

Children s Testimony Of Judicial Proceedings Throughout...
Abstract
This research paper investigates children s testimony in judicial proceedings throughout the past few
decades. An increase in child abuse allegations in the 1980s resulted in mass allegations throughout
the United States. As a result, a child is interviewed by law enforcement and social workers regarding
what happened during specific incidents. Tactics to acquire the testimony of the children has been up
for debate by the judicial system and psychologists. These tactics include suggestibility, repeated
questions, or stereotyping that may alter the testimony of children to accommodate interviewers
biases, knowingly and unknowingly, resulting in false arrests and imprisonments. Psychological
research has initiated a growing concern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children s testimonies have serious implications for the accused and the question of whether or not
children are reliable sources of information have been brought to the attention of judges and cognitive
psychologists. The history of court proceedings allowing child witnesses to testify has seen an
increase in false accusations against teachers, friends, and family members, bringing to question as to
why or how a child may come up with false memories. Psychological research into the subject has
shed some light on some possibilities as to how some children may be susceptible to manipulations.
Research into children s memories has serious implications to society an individual s involved in a
specific case. Three outcomes are possible (a) the researchers may discredit the children s testimony in
real abuse cases and strengthens the defenses case against a real perpetrator; (b) the child who has
witnessed or experienced a crime testifies accurately and truthfully, resulting in a perpetrator going to
prison and not committing another crime; or (c) the child has given false accusations as a result of
faulty interview tactics by law enforcement or social service workers that result in false charges and
imprisonment. Cognitive psychologists take these instances into consideration when creating studies
regarding children s memories and relating them to the judicial system (Ceci Bruyn, 1993). One may
be wondering why interview tactics that allow room for

Bells tolled and Poles exclaimed as their native son, Karol Jozef Wojtyla, returned to his homeland on
June 2, 1979 for the first time as Pope John Paul II. Upon his arrival to Okęcie, the location of the

The will of the Polish people now led the state. The Polish people realized during Pope John Paul s
first papal visit to Poland that the communist state had legitimacy only through fear and propaganda.
Many Poles came to this realization when following the television coverage of the papal visit because
the communist state covered the event as if the visit was only a small gathering. The communist
officials covered the event in such a way to control the public s reaction to the pope s visit, but the
Poles in attendance realized the deception the communist officials were using in the television
coverage of the event. Pope John Paul s visit to Poland seemed prophetic to the Poles. They now had a
world leader willing to oppose the ills of their communist state. Pope John Paul expressed the positive
outlook he had for the Polish people when he said, I am asking all of you, through the great
Eucharistic prayer, that Christ will not cease to be for us an open book of life for the future, for our
Polish future . Pope John Paul invested in the Polish people and his language of love eventually broke

Before successfully preventing teen pregnancies among teenage girls, there are many underlying
causes and facts about the dilemma that must be first exposed. Children from homes run by teenage
mothers have to face almost insurmountable obstacles in life. The incidents of depression and mental
health problems, the lack of father figures, and the high rate of poverty often connected to children in
homes run by teenage mothers put them at serious disadvantages when compared to children raised in

for early sexual exploration. Or, a father s absence early in life may trigger doubts in girls about male
reliability that hasten sexual activity and reproduction, as well as promote a preference for brief
relationships.
Juvenile abuse of alcohol and other drugs is strongly associated with risk taking behavior, including
promiscuity. According to the 1999 National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) study
quot;Dangerous Liaisons, quot; increased promiscuity leads to a greater risk for sexually transmitted
diseases and unplanned teenage pregnancy (National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse 1999).
Adolescents aged fourteen and younger who use alcohol are twice more likely to engage in sexual
behaviors than non drinkers; drug users are five times more likely to be sexually active than youth
who are drug free. Teens between the age of fifteen and nineteen who drink are seven times more
likely to have sex and twice as likely to have four or more partners than those who refrain from
alcohol. Furthermore, more than 50 percent of teenagers say that sex while drinking or on drugs often

Things Fall Apart Order And Stability Essay
A form of order and stability are essential for the continued existence of any society. Order and
stability are often maintained through religious traditions and societal expectations. Conflicting
ideologies however, can lead to a society s stability being jeopardised. Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel
Things Fall Apart explores the concept of societal stability in reference to the West African Ibo
society. Through the use of omniscient narration, characterisation, juxtaposition and novel structure,
he examines how order can be achieved through religion and societal expectations, and how instability
can arise from conflicting ideologies.
Religion and sacred tradition often play an integral part in the structure and stability of a society. The

His persona serves as a template of an ideal individual in Ibo society, which acts as a goal for others to
strive towards. Achebe contrasts the success of Okonkwo with his father Unoka, who serves as an
example of failure to conform to the Ibo society s expectations. Achebe evaluates this through the
characterisation of both Unoka and Okonkwo, When Unoka died, he had taken no title and was
heavily in debt. Any wonder then that his son Okonkwo was ashamed of him? The rhetorical question
revealing Okonkwo s shame for his father s lowly status prove Unoka s position as the antithesis of
success in the Ibo society. His contemptible circumstances serve as an example to others in the clan of
what to strive against; the reverse effect of Okonkwo s persona. Okonkwo and Unoka are consistently
depicted as opposites by Achebe, serving as examples of success and failure within the Ibo society.
Their differing positions within their clan outline the traits the Ibo society value within the individual.
It is from these values that the Ibo people derive their societal expectations, which in turn act as
guidelines for behaviour within their society, contributing to their continued stability. The expectations
that a society places on individuals support the preservation of stability by providing a framework for

The Whaling Of Whaling Nations
1. What is the IWC? In 1946, whaling nations established the International Convention for the
Regulation of Whaling in order to prohibit the killing of certain endangered whale species, set quotas
and minimum size for whales caught commercially and regulate the whaling seasons. This convention
was not an environmental agreement, but a club of whaling nations to regulate the practice of catching
whales. The International Whaling Commission, (IWC), was the decision making body in charge of
the regime and was tasked with the duty of protecting this marine species. Unfortunately, not only was
the IWC largely toothless in terms of enforcing their rules, many of their actions were actually
counterproductive. The IWC would met in secret to haggle over quotas that were set so high more
whales were being killed than before the convention and the total number of whales killed doubled
between 1951 and 1962. Even worse, while the major whaling nations were members of the IWC,
many developing countries refused to join or abide by its decisions and even went so far as to allow
pirate whalers who sold their products to Japan to operate within their territories. Overall, the IWC
was largely ineffective until the blue whale became endangered in the 1960 s. 2. What is land
degradation neutrality? Land Degradation Neutrality was defined at COP12 (12th meeting of the
Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity) in 2015 as A state whereby the
amount and quality of land

  • 2. Creeley s Poetry Thoreau once said, Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! This is the basis of Creeley s poetry and parts of his life. He is well known for teaching with the Black Mountain Poets in North Carolina and leading a poetic style that focuses on the minimization of words that provides a larger effect for the reader. The simplicity also leads to a very open window to his own feelings without the poetic labyrinth of rhyme and meter. Creeley s poems fully encompass human strife and the pondering question of how it should be solved, which relates to his life as it relates to the twentieth century in areas such as wartime strife, political ideology and lessons in life. First of all, Creeley really focused on the humanistic aspect of the troubles during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a lot of his major works coming from times of war as well as golden advancement he did focus on what was the current political stance of the major parts of the world. He, like many minds, found communism to be ill fated with nothing coming from it but ruin. The Names , published in 1959 is a nod to communism rising in Vietnam. The main government figures, All five of us...(Creely 3) took their own holds on government together under the name of the dictator and ...sat in the broken seat (Creeley 4) which Creeley would easily say as he noticed the fractures in the seat of government with ease. His political diction is simplistic yet hitting to the thoughts that the unspoken wish to speak up. His primary associations were with the Black Mountain Poets as well as some figures related to his Harvard education where he did publish works for a while despite his dislike of the professors due to their cynical nature. Another example of his political writings would be during 1968 which one poem would assumedly focus on the peace talks between America and the North Vietnamese and the later assassination of president Kennedy which took place slightly over a month before the issue of Poetry that this poem was published for. To Robert he was hoping that the peace talks that were taking place would lead to the Lake of clear water (Creely 1 I ll be here ) which symbolizes the fate of the foreign tensions that Creely hoped would be achieved. Why don t you go home and sleep and come back and talk some more(Creely 5 6) clearly shows his opinion that the peace talks are essential and his clear hope for a perfect ending. • 3. Joanne Beard s The Fourth State Of Matters Personal Statement: It happened when I was a first semester senior in high school. I do not remember the exact day, time, or what the weather was like, but I remember the moment. I gripped the over annotated, photocopied packet in my eager fingers so that my sweaty fingers made print marks on the black speckled page. And I read. I cried. And my dream changed. Before reading The Fourth State of Matter , a New Yorker personal history piece by Joanne Beard, I decided I wanted to be a writer, specifically a journalist. I wrote countless sports articles for our high school newspaper, The Crimson Sun, and by my junior year I was the editor of the Sports and Advertisement sections. The Continuing Immigration Debate Summary Mark Rosenblum, US IMMIGRATION POLICY SINCE 9/11 Mark Rosenblum s U.S Immigration Policy Since 9/11 does not provide an argument but rather he describes challenges, and identifies questions central to the future of the U.S immigration debate. Overall, it seems that prior to 9/11 it seemed migration negotiations were stalled every time. Whether this was done purposely or is merely a coincidence is my concern. Rosenblum states that migration negotiations going well until 2001, post 9/11 period, when migration negotiations with Mexico collapsed (1). • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Person Focused Pay Programs Although, person focused pay programs present many advantages, there are some highly significant disadvantages to person focused pay programs. The main disadvantages are person focused pay programs can encompass increase in hourly labor, training, and overhead costs, the system s many not connect and interlock well with existing incentive pay systems, they depend on well designed training programs, and because companies have a problem with determining the monetary value of skills and knowledge (Martocchio, 2013). Some obvious disadvantages of person focused pay systems that need to be considered. The first is the pay rates they tend to produce. The very essence of the system encourages individuals to become more valuable to the organization. This conveys that they have to be paid more than they would under a traditional pay system that limits growth, development, and therefore, value. Hence, person focused pay systems typically have higher average hourly wages than traditional pay systems. Since skill based pay systems give everyone the opportunity to learn multiple skills, a large investment is made in training and, of course, training is costly in terms of paying trainers and losing production time. Furthermore, the more serious problem is that when individuals are constantly learning new jobs, production losses and problems result because inexperienced people are performing the work. Because employees are always trying to leam new skills under this kind of pay system, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Oscar Whiteness Machine, By Richard Brody The Oscar Whiteness Machine, written by Richard Brody, was published in the online The New Yorker January 21st, 2016. The author has written for the New Yorker since 1999 and has been one of their white movie critics, one of the subjects of this article, since 2005. In the Article Brody takes the stance of a social justice warrior, proclaiming war on all those complicit in the disparity between white and black; especially in the film arena. His subject changes with paragraphs, movie critics, Oscar nominees and watchers, readers of the article, and anyone discriminatory. The Oscar Whiteness Machine is a mix of genres but it gets its main point across, black people have been discriminated against in the Oscars, and in life, and the film business plays a role in the suppression of black culture. We honor the best and whitest. Neil Patrick Harris s opening line at the Oscars in 2015 does a good job at pointing out one of the flaws of the award show that Richard Brody so passionately writes about. The article, while aimed at the Oscars, however, encompasses a wider issue. According to Brody this issue is the whiting out of movies about black experience. and looking at the past two years of nominations and winners, I wouldn t say he s wrong (Brody 1). I am going to start from the time where Dave received the pistol, to the time where he got in trouble. After buying the pistol, Dave walks around the fields with it, admiring the gun but too scared and unsure of how to fire it. He is very anxious about firing the gun. He waits until it s dark and he s sure everyone has already fallen asleep before going home, and he puts the gun underneath his pillow instead of giving it to his mother as he d promised. Mrs. Saunders approaches him in the middle of the night and quietly asks for the gun, but Dave tells her that he stashed it outside and will give it to her in the morning. When he wakes up, Dave removes the gun and holds it in his hands, realizing that he now has the power to actually kill someone. He quietly gets out of bed and hides the pistol in his clothes. He then heads out to the fields where he works, and he accidentally runs into his boss, Mr. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins knows this is very suspicious of Dave being out s early and Dave tells him he is just out trying to enjoy the nice breeze outside. Mr. Hawkins tells him to carry on, but deep down inside Mr. Hawkins knows something is wrong. • 10. Sewage Reclamation And Wastewater Reclamation Introduction: Need for wastewater reclamation Wastewater reclamation is the process whereby wastewater is treated using physical, chemical and even biological methods, so that the effluent obtained can be used again, providing that it meets a series of parameters which varies according to its use. The need for wastewater reclamation has increased due to the ever increasing demand for water which has led to a rise in water stress both in terms of quality and quantity of water (Gerke S., 2001). With wastewater reuse the water stress will be alleviated. Constructed wetlands provide a cheaper and environmentally friendly means of treating wastewater so that it can be reused (Kivaisi K. A., 2001). Constructed wetlands makes use of the naturally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... T. C., 2006). The wastewater reclamation can also be classified based on the constructed wetlands used for their treatment. Constructed wetlands can be divided into two major groups, namely surface flow or sub surface flow. The latter can be further sub divided into vertical or horizontal flow. There are many more types of wetlands available but the ones above are the main ones currently in use. Criteria for wastewater reuse Wastewater contains a host of physical, chemical and biological components, it is therefore primordial to have standards which govern the usage of the treated wastewater. Since the treated wastewater can have different uses such as for irrigation, in industries or even aquifer recharge, different standards are required. The restricted agriculture irrigation means that the crops irrigated must imperatively be cooked before consumption and therefore require less stringent parameters. Another use which does not require stringent parameters is industrial cooling, as there is less chance of humans coming into contact with the treated wastewater. The origin of the wastewater is another determining factor in terms of criteria which must be met before wastewater can be used again. For example, wastewater obtained from certain industries (textile) may contain heavy metals which may be harmful to humans and other organisms alike (Salgot M., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, if he is remembered, it will most likely be for his mediocrity, similar to the way people mock Twilight and Sharknado today. If I were in Brett Ratner s shoes, I would stop trying to reinvent the wheel, and stick to original movies. That much is obvious, seeing as how only the original movie of all three movies discussed rates above a two. Aside from an ending that fails to tie up loose ends, Tower Heist was fantastic. • 20. Classical Vs. Neoclassical Theory Value is a concept that has played a major role in the development of political economy and mainstream economics, however, in today s context it is not often discussed. This being true, the debate surrounding value and how to define it remains an important one for today s society. The debate when looked at from the classical and neoclassical perspective centres on whether value is inherent or whether it is an outcome of human desires, comparing Ricardo s labour theory of value and Smith s adding up theory with the neoclassical school s focus on demand and supply, marginal utility and equilibrium price given maximising individuals. The classical model, especially with its focus on scarcity is strong, however, it is the neoclassical argument that is most relevant today as it complements the highly globalised and technological economy of the present day. Classical Political Economic theory can be traced back to the late seventeenth century, when demand for commodity production was rapidly increasing. Following 1670, Sir William Perry came close to defining the exchange value of a commodity by the amount of labour needed to produce it. Richard Cantillon went beyond this by separating the intrinsic value of a commodity, being the labour and land needed to produce it from its market price. This resulted in the foundation for Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations where he developed three distinct methods for determining a commodity s true value. The First, reflected Petty s ... Write a short essay in which you describe and discuss what you consider to be at least one major strength or intellectual contribution and at least one major weakness of Freud s version of psychoanalytic theory and depth psychology. In your essay, show your understanding of key Freudian concepts 20 pts. (2 pages) Sigmund Freud s primary version of psychoanalytical theory presented in the late 19th century is one that has withstood the tests of time; with just a few exceptions. Freud s psychoanalytical theory which is comprised of many of Freud s very unique and great theories like the tripartite mind, psychosexual developmental stages, and defense mechanisms gave insight into the inner workings of the mind that until then had not yet been discovered nor explored. After all, psychoanalysis centers on exposing the human unconscious by viewing human behavior through a deterministic lens, meaning that the mind is governed by the unconscious, instinctual drives, and other forces. Some of his theories such as his concept on the existence and meaning of psychosexual developmental stages fall under being deterministic; this is because Freud was a strong believer in psychic determinism, which is a type of determinism that theorizes that all mental processes are determined by the unconscious or preexisting mental complexes. There lies one of Freud s greatest weaknesses in my opinion, as over time the popularity for determinism has shifted to humanism, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my research, I will use interview as a methodology that I can use to get more information from the consumers. I will use interviews to conduct research to come up with a summary of how well branding impacts the decisions of a consumer. Sisterhood Of Prickwillow Place The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place is a crazy romp of an adventure featuring seven strong ladies as the protagonists, all of them possessing unique skills and interests. The premise is ludicrous, the resulting charade insane, and the likelihood of success increasingly infinitesimal and yet it is impossible not to cheer these ladies on. Julie Berry offers a fresh, fun boarding school mystery that celebrates sisterhood and dares girls everywhere to dream the impossible. I knew from the beginning that I was going to love this story. When the headmistress of their school and her younger brother both fall dead during Sunday dinner, the young ladies neither scream nor faint, but immediately jump into action, checking for signs of life, gathering evidence of the crime, and planning their future. Smooth Kitty, the planner and business woman of the group, proposes that the seven girls hide the murders so they can continue living together, rather than return home to the parents who do not want them and the siblings who torment them. Now we have gas efficient cars, energy efficient appliances and as many highly efficiently people would say we are working to have a more efficient society. What is the cost of more efficiency, in many things of course the more efficient the better, with more energy efficient cars and appliances we are saving our planet reducing car emissions make for cleaner air that we all breathe and will make us less reliant on fuel and other natural resources. • 45. Things Fall Apart Order And Stability Essay A form of order and stability are essential for the continued existence of any society. Order and stability are often maintained through religious traditions and societal expectations. Conflicting ideologies however, can lead to a society s stability being jeopardised. Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel Things Fall Apart explores the concept of societal stability in reference to the West African Ibo society. Through the use of omniscient narration, characterisation, juxtaposition and novel structure, he examines how order can be achieved through religion and societal expectations, and how instability can arise from conflicting ideologies. Religion and sacred tradition often play an integral part in the structure and stability of a society. The Ibo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His persona serves as a template of an ideal individual in Ibo society, which acts as a goal for others to strive towards. Achebe contrasts the success of Okonkwo with his father Unoka, who serves as an example of failure to conform to the Ibo society s expectations. Achebe evaluates this through the characterisation of both Unoka and Okonkwo, When Unoka died, he had taken no title and was heavily in debt. Any wonder then that his son Okonkwo was ashamed of him? The rhetorical question revealing Okonkwo s shame for his father s lowly status prove Unoka s position as the antithesis of success in the Ibo society. His contemptible circumstances serve as an example to others in the clan of what to strive against; the reverse effect of Okonkwo s persona. Okonkwo and Unoka are consistently depicted as opposites by Achebe, serving as examples of success and failure within the Ibo society. Their differing positions within their clan outline the traits the Ibo society value within the individual. It is from these values that the Ibo people derive their societal expectations, which in turn act as guidelines for behaviour within their society, contributing to their continued stability. The expectations that a society places on individuals support the preservation of stability by providing a framework for proper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Whaling Of Whaling Nations 1. What is the IWC? In 1946, whaling nations established the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling in order to prohibit the killing of certain endangered whale species, set quotas and minimum size for whales caught commercially and regulate the whaling seasons. This convention was not an environmental agreement, but a club of whaling nations to regulate the practice of catching whales. The International Whaling Commission, (IWC), was the decision making body in charge of the regime and was tasked with the duty of protecting this marine species. Unfortunately, not only was the IWC largely toothless in terms of enforcing their rules, many of their actions were actually counterproductive. The IWC would met in secret to haggle over quotas that were set so high more whales were being killed than before the convention and the total number of whales killed doubled between 1951 and 1962. Even worse, while the major whaling nations were members of the IWC, many developing countries refused to join or abide by its decisions and even went so far as to allow pirate whalers who sold their products to Japan to operate within their territories. Overall, the IWC was largely ineffective until the blue whale became endangered in the 1960 s. 2. What is land degradation neutrality?
