Marketing and Cunard
Background
Cunard Line Ltd is one of the most famous and oldest luxury cruise companies in the world. Providing
high level luxury service to its clientele, Cunard s name is associated with elegance, excellence, and
tradition. Its seven ships (5 luxury and 4 premium) follows Cunard s high quality service pattern,
giving to the company 50% of the market share in the luxury segment and 90 % of occupancy in 1990.
The success and performance of the company is considered high for the cruise industry. Based on their
corporate culture, the company has two main targets to provide excellence and elegance as the value
of their service, and to employ these concepts into their marketing communication in order to sell the
experience of traveling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Direct campaigns will target costumers focusing on prices and promotion, whether mass campaigns
will focus on a corporate campaign (Cunard brand). This campaign will show the company expertise,
trustworthiness, and likeability with powerful visual appeal linked with a strong slogan (ex: Cunard,
the life experience). This approach may open the opportunity to link the attributes of the brand
(excellence and elegance) with a celebrity (ex: Cindy Crawford), allowing the audience to remind the
brand s name. Communication Channels
Mass Media: Advertising in mass media will be focused only in the corporate image (brand equity),
using the same visual appeal, but with a strong message and portraying different Cunard s ships,
places, food, and activities. The idea is to create desire in the audience s minds for the experience of
traveling in a Cunard s luxury cruise. Macro scheduling for seasons will drive the portraying of
advertisement in television and magazines, targeting those who have never been in a luxury cruise, or
those who never experience the elegance of a Cunard cruise.
Sales Promotion
Since 95% of consumers book their cruises through travel agents, sales and promotions will target
travel agencies. Cunard will offer better promotion discounts to travel agencies to stimulate the
preference for Cunard packages. Because 65% of the travelers pay full tickets, the agency can choose
to sell or not the full package with a discount. Having a better margin of

The Great Communicator By Ronald Reagan
As stated in an article from Newsmakers, Ronald Reagan was known as the Great Communicator
because he was able to clearly speak to the public due to his unusual experiences before presidency
(Newsmakers). Every president of the United States has a unique story, but Reagan possessed many
remarkable characteristics. Today, many people recognize Reagan as a former president, but few know
about the struggles he faced and his success before presidency; his political party transition, handling
economic fluctuation, and his attitude throughout his terms in office made him an unforgettable
political figure. Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois and grew up in Dixon, Illinois. Dixon is a
typical small town in the midwest. Unlike many other presidents, Reagan had a rough upbringing.
According to a book titled Up Close: Ronald Reagan, his father Jack was an alcoholic. At 11 years
old, Reagan witnessed his father passed out on the porch one evening after returning from the YMCA.
He had to drag his father into the house and put him in bed. Jack was constantly fighting alcoholism
for most of his life causing him to struggle at work, fight with his family members, and disappear
from home. Reagan s mother, Nelle, continued telling him and his older brother, Neil, that their father
was addicted to alcohol and he could not control it. Nelle even sent Ronald and Neil to live with
relatives when Jack s alcohol addiction worsened. Reagan explained that he enjoyed his childhood,
but others

Man At The Crossroads
The Man at the Crossroads
Did Nelson do right in destroying Diego Rivera s mural The man at the crossroads ? The man at the
crossroads was located at the center of Rockefeller center in New York. He was right in destroying
Diego s mural because of several reasons. The first reason is that Rivera didn t achieve Nelson s vision
in how the mural would turn out. The second reason why Rockefeller was right in destroying the
painting was because it was too controversial. The last reason is that Nelson s reputation would have
been ruined by the mural. Overall Rockefeller was right in destroying Rivera s mural.
In addition, why Nelson was right about destroying Rivera s mural was that his vision wasn t achieved
by Diego. Rivera didn t achieve Nelson s vision in his work of the mural Man at the Crossroads.
According to destroyed by Rockefeller, mural trespassed on political vision(2014), She wonders what
made the Rockefeller think that Rivera s vision would be the same as theirs. According to the text, it is
saying that the Rockefeller vision was different forms Rivera s vision of Man at the Crossroad. Rivera

Hemophilia Research Paper
Hemophilia The definition of hemophilia is that it s a rare disease housed in the body. What happens is
the blood does not clot normally due to the fact it lacks the sufficient blood clotting proteins. Also,
when having this disorder of hemophilia, the person can bleed for a longer period of time after a
wound of cut. Depending on the person with hemophilia so small cuts or injuries for the most part do
not become much of a problem in their day to day lives. In most cases the risk comes in when there is
deep bleeding inside the body, especially in the knees, ankles and elbows and most times this can
appear as bruising. This type of injury can lead to damaged organs and tissues, and for the most part

The process can be done by infusing prepared factor concentrates and people who have hemophilia
eventually learn how to use these infusions on their own in order to stop their bleeding episodes and,
by doing the infusions regularly this for the most part can even stop most bleeding episodes from even
happening. But it s going to take good medical care from doctors and nurses who have experience in
dealing with people who have the disorder in order to administer preventive solutions. The disorder of
hemophilia is a genetic one which means it is inherited, and to this day there is still no cure but
treatment to live with this disorder. Hemophilia can and does affect all racial and ethnic groups of
people and within those groups it has been found that majority of those with hemophilia are men. Now
being that this is inherited let s look in to the chromosome theory of inheritance, this theory brings
forth the idea that the genes are located on chromosomes. This line of thought was based on the
experiments of Thomas Hunt Morgan using fruit flies. So, with those findings from the data given it
can be deduced that

Sugar Cultivation During The Nineteenth Century Essay
In the British Caribbean during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, sugar cultivation came into
existence as the Europeans slowly moved away from the production of tobacco. This was done for two
main reasons; the first being, the Europeans saw how lucrative the production of the sugarcane crop
can be for them and secondly, it would have significantly reduced the cost of sweeteners for both men
and women of British descent. Honey, being the only substitution for sugar at the time, was considered
to be very expensive and as a result an alternative was needed. In order for this production system to
be fully adopted, the Europeans required a labour force that could endure the hardships associated
with toiling in the sugar plantation. This is where the enslaved Africans were introduced. To the
Europeans, Africans were considered to be much more effective because in their view they were seen
as having no soul. These Africans were taken from the West African coast primarily around the
Senegal River and Angola, (Campbell 1) placed upon slave ships and brought into the Caribbean to be
sold to different estate owners or managers. From then onwards, this was the introduction of slavery
and as such this essay would be based upon the book entitled Beyond Massa. This book was written
by John F. Campbell, a historian and current History lecturer at the University of the West Indies,
which is located at the St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad. In addition to, Mr. Campbell also received

Life Is A Tragic Loss Of A Classmate
No matter how old or young we are, we have all had adversities to face. Whether good or bad, some
are more difficult than others. Mine just so happens to be a tragic loss of a classmate. In 2013, Dillon
Jamal Neal was just starting his junior year of high school. Proudly wearing number fifty five on
Friday nights, Dillon played defensive end for the Ouachita Parish Lions in what we call, The Lion s
Den. He had such a lighthearted spirit that you cherish knowing someone like him forever. He was an
angel who walked amongst the Earth, that God called home to honor Dillon with a pair of wings he
earned. It has been four years since he left the Earth and there is not a day that goes by that I do not
think back on the crazy conversations we had or all the laughs we shared over the years. After Dillon
passed away, I realized that death does not wait on anyone so you should get your life right with God
while you still can. On November 1, 2013, the day of Friday night football, Ouachita Parish High
School and West Monroe High School went head to head in the biggest rivalry football game of the
season. Everyone is super excited about the game; we could barely focus on our school work. Finally,
game time approached slowly but surely, and the pressure has increased extremely. The long awaited
matchup was about to play out before the student body s eyes. Sitting in the stands watching the game
with eager, the crowd felt the tension between the rivals. The football players played

The History for Control over the Pacific Northwest
Throughout the history for control over the Pacific Northwest many battles were fought. We found the
ancestors of our families to be taken by surprise of the many actions we took. Many different tribes
had established long lasting communities in the 18th century. Such as the Chinook, Salish and Nez
Perce etc. The land was spread throughout the cascades through the Rocky Mountains. Years of
torment and battle began from the Spanish and British explorers looking for the land. They searched
for what they could not find at home, most of them having no idea what to expect when they arrived.
In 1792, Captain George Vancouver was the first explorer to sail the waters of Puget Sound, claiming
British sovereignty over the entire region. But he was not the only captain to have found the Pacific
Northwest. Captain Robert Gray found the Columbia River and soon after Lewis and Clark made their
way down the Rockies and the river as well. Many different explorers wanted to capture and take
control of the land they didn t own. They knew that the task was not one that would be easy. Lots of
different explorers faced the task of removing the Natives as well as the other Countries fighting for
the land. The settlers soon began to realize the opportunities they had in front of them. Explorers from
Spain, England, Russia, and the new United States, looked with interest toward the Northwest. A
major goal of the explorers was to discover the so called Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean.

Willy Loman Out Of Work Analysis
Both Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and the poetic voice of out of Work by
Langston Hughes share the common trait of unsuccessfulness. Both chose to take their path from the
choices they have taken. When given an occupation, they will stubbornly refuse, create problems for
himself and people around him and try to get a better deal off the employer than take what is given.
Firstly, both chose to ignore any job offers that were given directly to them. Nevertheless Willy from
the play and the voice from the poem assumed that those jobs will bring them more compared to their
place already. For instance, in Death of a Salesman, Charley attempted to offer [him] a job. [He can]
make fifty dollars a week so Willy may stop paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two have proven to be in need of money desperately because of either needing things to eat or
they must be able to pay off their last debts. However was not easily accomplished. For instance Willy
had the need of money to pay off his last debts to his house. So he went to his boss, Howard to ask for
a raise of sixty five dollars a week, [he] could swing it (Miller 56). Nonetheless Howard disapproved
because he did not know where am [he is] going to put [Willy] (57). Eventually Willy gets erratic and
starts talking about the past which agitates his boss since it was about his father. In the end Willy gets
fired and Linda manages to scrummage some money to finally pay off the last dues of the house. This
shows when Willy gets frustrated, he had not been able to handle himself properly which eventually
led to his own downfall. Similarly the speaker has the same crisis for food and survival. However
when [he] went to the WPA , that employer said he has to stay in that town for a year and a day, Lawd
(Hughes). [He] might starve for a year but/That day might get me down . It is shown how the beggar
has chosen to not take the job and frustrate himself and his employer because he tried to move his
position to his conditions even though any job had to do in order to get what he truly desired, money

Thinking Ahead Contingency Planning And Managing The...
Thinking ahead contingency planning and managing the unexpected are core skills for a perioperative
nurse. Alfredsdottir and Bjornsdottir (2008) describe how prevention is a core component of the
perioperative nurses work. Perioperative nurses consider how the background of their patient may
contribute to their susceptibility and instability and how these may be risk factors during their patients
surgery, this means trying to imagine everything that could go wrong and taking reasonable steps to
manage these scenarios.
In this case study Mr Knight, a 55 year old man is presenting to the operating room to undergo an
exploratory laparoscopy for a suspected bowel obstruction, with his history of body mass index (BMI)
of 35, Type 2 diabetes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These conditions can have a negative affect on surgical outcomes (Bellanger Bray, 2005). Obesity also
has surgical implications largely around wounds and their management. As an obese patient Mr
Knight is at an increased risk of having his laparoscopic operation converted to an open procedure,
largely due to expose and dissection problems (Makino, Shukla, Rubino, Milsom, 2012).
Knowing Mr Knights previous surgical history is particularly important when preparing for
laparoscopic abdominal surgery, this is because previous abdominal surgery creates adhesions.
Adhesions are a known risk factor for laparoscopic procedures being converted to open, this risk is
increased when the patient is obese (Barleben et al., 2009). There are a number of risk factors that may
contribute to the predictability of a laparoscopic procedure converting to open these include patient
comorbidities, type of surgery, illness pathology, and surgeon skill (Tekkis, Senagore, Delaney, 2005).
Patient positioning is an integral part of surgical preparedness; the whole perioperative team has a
responsibility towards the patients regarding surgical positioning. Mr Knights position will depend on
the type of laparoscopic surgery being performed and the surgeons preference for this procedure,
positioning is often a compromise between surgical access, airway management and patient safety.
The very act of surgical positioning can lead to injury and with laparoscopic surgery injuries

Protectionism in global banana market Good or bad?
The present crisis being faced by the company seems to be a result of protectionism in the global
banana market. Ideally there should be no restriction for free flow of goods and services but this is not
true. There is hardly any field where restrictions are not present in trade as the nation/region imposing
those restrictions wants to protect local economies from tough international competition. Banana
industry is no exception to this general rule. The world is still in a transition phase as regards real
integration of the world trade into an ideal single market. Undoubtedly the protectionism has played a
spoil sport for big players in banana market but at the same time provided much needed support to
developing nations especially ACP region that formed former colonies of Britain and France. The
trade barriers proved successful for the less efficient producers as they got protection against bigger
players. Such a strategy can provide control to smaller entities in growing bigger and providing tough
competition in the market.
Despite the protectionist policies of European region as regards banana trade the US companies and
those from other parts of the world have made good money out of it. The trade has been quite
profitable through all these years and has rather stopped this industry from becoming a home ground
for one or two big players only. The fact that this business needs a

Dealing with Conflicts in the Workplace
Conflict Management Styles
Conflict occurs in organizations whenever a difference of opinions exists. People disagree over many
things including but not limited to, policies and procedures, the overall direction of the company, and
distribution of rewards. This type of conflict is substantive conflict, as described in our reading text
organizational behavior as a, fundamental disagreement over ends or goals to be pursued . The second
type of conflict is emotional conflict; which involves, interpersonal difficulties that arise over feelings
of anger, mistrust, dislike, fear, resentment, and the like. This type of conflict occurs when two or

In our company many of the technicians have never been anything other than the technician. They
have never experienced what it is like to be the customer depending on someone else for technological
knowledge and expertise. I try to get my employees to place themselves in the shoes of the customer
and treat them, as they would expect to be treated. This works both ways; I have never been a
technician and do not understand a lot of the problems and frustrations that they experience. So in
turn, we share our thoughts, our experiences and our ideas on how we can make our organization a
more profitable one. We each realize our limitations and together strive for the common goals of the
organization. Another one of my particular strengths is my ability to perceive conflict in situations
before and as they arise. I can sense that if we are to implement a particular policy and/or procedure
how my staff will react to it. This helps us to plan ways to eliminate conflict before it even begins.
Conflict is inevitable when diverse people from different circumstances and backgrounds work
together. Everyone had different visions and ideas as to how various situations should be dealt with. If
conflict is not managed in an appropriate manner it can become time consuming and a waste of
management resources. By acknowledging this and dealing with conflict in a forthright and
straightforward manner, conflict can

States standardized test score rankings among other countries. The country has been scoring incredibly

It is clear that summer seems to be causing a huge gap in education. The students remember more
when they spend less time out of the classroom. This is why year round school is a better option for
students. A common misunderstanding of the year round school year is that the school has more days
than an original school year. In all actuality, students in both types of schooling only attend around
180 days. The only difference is that students in year round attend school with different arrangement
in breaks. It is called the 45/15 plan. This is allows students to spend 45 days in the classroom and
then take a 15 day break. By following this plan students do not forget as much material they learn.
There is not much time to forget it. Students take a short break from school and then roll right from
one grade to another. By students remembering more, teachers do not have to spend weeks reviewing
the material students should have remembered from the previous year. Year round schooling adds on
time to the learning year without literally added more time. Not only does the year round school
system improve memory recall for students, it also eases transitions for them. The

Voltaire s Candide And Swift s Gulliver s Travels
From someone deciding to snooze their alarm an extra time in the morning to deciding if they should
marry their significant other, every decision a person makes will create either a positive or negative
effect on their life. This statement is evident in both Voltaire s Candide and Swift s Gulliver s Travels.
Candide is a satire that was published in 1759 by the French author and philosopher, François Marie
Arouet, better known as Voltaire. Gulliver s Travels is also a satire that was published in 1726 by
Anglo Irish author, Jonathan Swift. In these two stories; no matter how big or small a decision is, it
will inevitably have an effect on the character s quality of life, even if it is not completely apparent at
the time.

To reiterate Pangloss s beliefs that this world is the best of possible worlds he also claims that there is
no effect without a cause. Pangloss uses simple examples in the beginning of the story to demonstrate
what he means. He states: that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for all being created for an
end, all is necessarily for the best end. Observe, that the nose has been formed to bear spectacles thus
we have spectacles. Legs are visibly designed for stockings and we have stockings (18). This
statement is illogical and quite humorous, as one would think spectacles were made for the nose and
stockings were made for legs, not vice versa. Anyway, this whole story is based on cause and effect.
Every single decision Candide makes affects him in some type of way later in the story. Nevertheless,
it is not obvious what the outcome of the majority of his decisions will be, as this story has many
twists and random outcomes.
It all starts at the castle of Thunder ten tronckh where young Candide lays a kiss on Cunégonde. One
might believe kissing your love would lead to good things to come, however, it is the complete
opposite. The effect of this cause results in Candide being banished from the castle to defend himself
alone. When Candide and Pangloss treat the earthquake victims, Pangloss attempts to comfort the
victims by telling them the earthquake was for

The Success Rate Of Your Business
In a world full of business there are many opportunities, some that could bring you lots of success.
The success rate of your business depends on the profits or losses of your business. Every business
wants to satisfy their customers and gain profit but sometimes that s not always what the turnout is.
The satisfaction of your customers is dependent on the products or services they have obtained.
However there are nonprofit organizations that are not seeking profit, an example would be an animal
rescue shelter. When it comes to a profitable business, for example a salon, the difference between the
costs and the prices the clients pay is extremely important. A salon is a business with goals. A salon

Businesses are based on the people and the activities going on inside the business. Inside any
successful business there are owners, employees and customers. Then there are the activities that
occur inside which would be management, marketing and finance. Think of a business as a bunch of
classes where there are different groups and roles for each. The employees and management are
actually in the same class because the management is coordinating with the employees to achieve the
satisfaction of the customers. For example the managers of a salon would be there coordinating with
their stylists to make sure that they are performing the services on their clients with good quality and
that they are being efficiently. Then another class group would contain marketing and consumers.
They would be in the same class because the focus of all marketing activities is to satisfy the
customers. For example the marketers of a salon would be collecting information about the services
they provide. They also would figure out changes that should be made to the salon to make sure the
customers are satisfied. Another part of marketing is advertising which for a salon could be deals on
services and creating an email group to notify the clients. Marketing can be a great thing when it
comes to expanding your business. The third and last class would be owners and finance. This is

International Typographic Style Essay
The focus of this essay is to explain why the International Typographic Style or Swiss style was so
important to the mid twentieth century and how it got started. Firstly, it is an art movement that
internationally began in the 1950 s, but the origins can be traced back at least thirty years. It can be
thought of as a combination of elements from other movements such as Constructivism, De Stijl and
the Bauhaus. According to Richard Hollis book Swiss Graphic Design, there are at least three factors
that account for the Swiss style (Hollis, R. 2006, P9), these being the country s location, the language
and the culture. There is evidence to prove that there are at least 2 other factors, especially for the
origin of the style, which is shown in the book, along with several others. Although not directly linked
to the foundation of the style itself, these 2 other factors include the designers and the typography,
after all, it is known as the International Typographic Style. In this essay we will be discussing each of
them in turn, and explaining views as to why they were important and what effect they had on graphic
design in the mid twentieth century.
We begin with one of the most important factors, the designers themselves. Without the designers to
create the style, there would be no style. Josef Müller Brockmann was a leading figure of Swiss
graphic design in the 1950 s and 1960 s. He began his path towards the Swiss style in the early 1930 s

a) Seeing as how Alton Towers is an amusement park, factors that could effect could affect customer

they are hungry, are they enough lavatories around the park, and, most importantly, are the rides in the
park easily accessible. Other things such as how queues are managed and navigation around the park

pubs for older customers. They have plenty of lavatories in the amusement park, with bathrooms for
disabled customers and changing areas for parents with young children. They are many places for

and sometimes you may feel as if life isn t worth living. So this quote explains why depression is
significant and problematic to an individual. Depression is a recurring theme in the two stories
Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Franz Kafka s A Hunger Artist . The stories have a
connection of depression because each character develops similar tendencies such as loss of appetite,
lack of motivation, and insomnia. The authors of the short stories experienced similar effects in their
lifetime so the stories were influenced by their personal lives. Herman Melville, famous American
writer, [D]eveloped debilitating physical and psychiatric disorders in middle age after writing,
perhaps, the greatest of American novels, Moby Dick. Melville suffered shortly after writing Moby
Dick and wrote Bartleby, the Scrivener few years later. Melville s personal life was relatable

The Causes Of The American Revolution And The English...
The English Revolution from 1640 to 1660 Although the English Revolution began in 1640, there was
discontent and conflict during the Stuart dynasty which lasted between 1603 and 1640. Between 1603
and 1625 King James I ruled England. He was unsuccessful in unifying Scotland and England, there
was steep religious division between the Church of England, which was Anglo Catholic , and the
Protestant Nonconformists, political division between the crown and parliament consistently
disagreeing over the constitution, fiscal policy, taxation, religious policy, and foreign policy, and
England s beginning colonization of North America and the Caribbean. In 1625, King James I dies
and King Charles succeeds him. King Charles begins his reign with lack of money, religious
disagreement and a European war, the Thirty Years War which King James I attempted to keep out of.
From 1629 to 1640, King Charles I tries to rule without parliament and raises revenue outside of
Parliament through his prerogative powers. This revenue was mainly through customs taxation,
granting monopolies, and ship money. This not only irritated parliament, but also many of his subjects.
Parliament and the landed elite that it represents see his actions as the exercise of arbitrary power , a
power which threatens their personal liberties and private property. He adopted a non Calvinist,
ritualistic form of Protestantism that seemed to have similarities to Catholicism. This infuriated radical
reformers, such

The Movie, Good Will Hunting Essay
The movie, Good Will Hunting (1997), is about a young twenty year old man named Will Hunting.
Will Hunting lives in a rather impoverished area in South Boston and is a young janitor who typically
drinks with his friends in his free time, however, Will is actually an indiscreet self taught genius.
During the first week of classes at MIT, Will solves a difficult graduate level math problem that one of
the math professors left an extremely difficult problem on the board to challenge his students, in hopes
that someone would solve it by the end of the semester (Van Sant, 1997). However, Will solves the
problem but does not want to let anyone know that it was him that solved the difficult equation,
therefore it came to everyone s surprise when they discovered it was actually Will who solved the
problem in such a short matter of time, indicating his hidden intellect (Van Sant, 1997). Outside of
work, Will got into an argument with a group of boys who previously tried to bully him (Van Sant,
1997). Because of this incident, Will was arrested after hitting the officer who responded to the fight
(Van Sant, 1997). Throughout Will s trial, the math professor who initially wrote the problem on the
board, began intervening with his trial, after realizing Will s potential when he notices Will s intellect
in defending himself (Van Sant, 1997). The professor arranges a deal with the court and Will was
offered a choice, he could either go to jail, or he could be released into the professor s

Comparison Between Greece And Greece
Persia (550 BCE 330 BCE) and Greece (480 BCE 323 BCE) were two strong and prosperous empires.
For over two centuries, persia and Greece have been waging war on one another. Although Persia and
Greece gave men more power than women, both empires developed different social structures and
unalike religious beliefs.
Persia and Greece both have dissimilar social structures that consist of certain individuals. In early
western Iran, the society was categorized into three social classes. The classes consisted of warriors,
priests, and peasants. Warriors had the privilege in gardening, hunting, and fighting. The priest was in
charge of supervising sacrifices. And the peasants or common people were farmers and shepherds. The
Persian King had his groups of people as well. There were the son of Persian aristocrats, noblemen,
the central administration, the king s bodyguard, and many servants/slaves. On the other hand, the
Greeks had two societies: Athens and Sparta. Athens was divided into four classes. The top classes
were allowed to hold state office while the lower class could not. Sparta was separated into three
classes: Spartiate, perioeci, and helots. The Spartiate could participate in politics, serve the military,
and run Sparta. The perioeci could own land, serve in the military, and they were in charge of Sparta s
communication and trade. Last but not least, the helots were at the bottom and the most disliked. They
were slaves and they were only allowed to serve in the

Description Of A General Strategy
I used a general strategy throughout the entire simulation. Fist I calculated whether to overstock or
understock each of the phone models. Next, I found the demand estimates based on the standard
deviation and the stocking levels of each model. Also, I picked the design features based on the
opinions of the members of my team, or using a consensus forecast. I did however constrain the
number of features so it didn t decrease the uncertainty in demand. The board members all had
different objectives that I took into consideration throughout the simulation.
I used cost as the basis for my decision of production distribution. I gave precedence to on shore
production facilities. Production of both Model A and Model B was distributed in favor ... Show more

In order to minimize the overstocking, the forecast estimates for Model A were reduced; this caused
continual understocking throughout the year and resulted in no inventory at the end of the year.
The Market Survey was used this year to help successfully estimate the demand.
Similar to year one, a change order was necessary to avoid understocking of Model A.
Year Three
In year three, forecasting was altered to prevent stockout of Model A. As a result, both Model A and
Model B stocks were unutilized.
I did not change order in year three. Looking back, a change order would have helped decrease
production of Model B due to outside factors that foresaw the decrease in demand.
Year Four
During year four, I chose a careful forecast for Model B. The main reason for this was due to the high
standard deviation in forecast demand.
The on shore production facilities had a 100 percent utilization, which meant the demand for Model B
would not increase immediately. Therefore, outsourced facilities had to be utilized, resulting in a big
lead time. Furthermore, I needed to use the extra production facility that I had not used in the previous
years.
In this year, Model B saw a big amount of stockouts, therefore, there had to be a decrease in
production of Model A to make room for Model B; this was not effective.
Final Observations
The simulation was challenging for many reasons.

The Importance Of Teacher Attrition In Education
Twenty three percent of teachers leave the teaching profession during their first five years of teaching
(Elisa Shernoff, Ane Marín ̃ ez Lora, Stacy Frazier, Lara Jakobsons, Marc Atkins, Deborah Bonner,
2011, p. 465). Teaching has been a career before writing was established, however there has never
been such a high attrition rate in teaching. Attrition is defined as a reduction in workforce without
firing of personnel, as when workers resign or retire and are not replaced (CITATION Dictionary
.com). While the current flow of students training to become teachers is still strong, novice teachers do
not find enough encouragement in their first few years of teaching to remain in the profession. Instead,
their experiences cause them to feel discouraged and disrespected to the point that they do not believe
that teaching is where they belong. This crisis regarding education sustainability needs to be redefined
to include the sustainability of teachers. Sustaining future education relies on creating and hiring
teachers who enjoy being part of a learning environment. The use of student teaching, teacher
collaboration, and less mandated learning goals can lower the teacher attrition rate and sustain
education. Also, although some people believe that other resources are more important to sustain,
education is going to be detrimental to the success of future societies.
Student teaching can help lessen teacher attrition by giving the pre service teacher experience in a
classroom,

What is management..?
Management plays a vital role in developing and promoting success to any business. There are various
definitions for management by different scholars. According to Henri Fayol (1841 1925),
Management is to forecast and to plan, to organise, to command, to co ordinate and to control (Iim

Why Writers Change Their Names
Why do you think people change their names? I ve never thought about changing my name but people
like George Orwell and C. S. Lewis have changed their names. There are many different reasons why
writers would change their names to get published. People want to publish more and more books each
year so they have to change their names to be able to write more books. J. K. Rowling and S. E.
Hinton is a couple of good examples to show why authors changed their names. They have changed
their names by putting their initials instead of their actual names. In the article, What s in a Name? it
states, Susan Eloise Hinton, who is famous for young adult novels, is a example author who adapted
her name. S.E. Hinton s first book The Outsiders includes a male narrator. This shows how the author
S. E. Hinton abbreviated her name so no one knew she was a woman s writing about a young boy in a
gang. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article, Introducing Jane Eyre: An Unlikely Victorian Heroine it states, Considering Brontë s
position and her desire for literary achievement given that context, we are able to see why she felt
compelled to write Jane Eyre and to publish it under a male pen name, Currer Bell. This statement
shows how Charlotte Brontë changed her name from a woman name to a guy s name. She wrote about
strong Victorian women in her book without anyone knowing she was also a strong Victorian woman.
Robert Southey, the Poet Laureate of England in 1836, told Charlotte Bronte that she shouldn t be a
writer because she was a woman. In his letter to her it states, Literature cannot be the business of a
woman s life, and it ought not to be. This quote shows that Robert Southey doesn t think that women
should write. He thinks women should spend all their time on cooking, cleaning and caring for the

Descartes Ontological Argument For The Existence Of God
Section 6

Descartes Ontological Argument for the Existence of God
The Ontological Argument for the existence of God is an a priori argument that aims to demonstrate
that God s real world existence follows necessarily from the concept of God. In Meditation V of
Discourse on Methods and Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes presents his version of the
Ontological Argument for the existence of God. In this essay, I will argue that this argument fails
because necessary existence for a concept does not entail its real world existence.
Descartes argument for the existence of God relies on two key assertions:
1. His understanding of God as an infinite, independent being.
2. His claim that existence is a perfection.
In Meditation III, Descartes clarifies his understanding of God to be a substance that is infinite,
eternal, immutable, independent, supremely intelligent, supremely powerful, and which created both
myself and everything else (if anything else there be) that exists. It is important to note that in
speaking of God as infinite, Descartes seems to mean that God is infinitely perfect. He asserts God, I
take to be actually infinite, so that nothing can be added to his perfection. (p. 32) Descartes
understands God as a uniquely infinite and independent entity that exists by its own nature. By
contrast, all other entities are finite and contingent beings that must depend on another entity for their
existence. This

Richard St. John Research Paper
Richard St. John did not know how to answer the question: how does one become successful? . Just
like many people on this earth struggle to answer that question. Humans all strive for success but
many do not know how, by following St. John s 8 points: Passion, work, practice, focus, push, serve,
ideas, and persist, then one can be lead to the road of success. I was intrigued that the common
similarities of becoming successful are the 8 main points. They are basic things that many have been
doing all their life, so many will be confused as to why they are not successful, but they will need to
combine all 8 of these in order to be successful. I agree that all of the 8 points are necessary to
succeed, but it will be very hard to become successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

St. John had joked that our mothers were there to push us, but it is true that we need our family and
close ones to push us so that we can rise to success. The people that want us to succeed in life will be
there for us to encourage us to not give up even though it may seem like a lot of work. We should not

and only work for self gain, then it will be harder to achieve their goal of becoming successful as they

The Helmet Of A Motorcycle Car
The History of helmets go all the way back to 1966 and earlier. The first helmet for a
motorized vehicle was made in motivation. The man with the brilliant plan was Dr. Hugh Cairns.
He was determined to come up with a solution to make motorized vehicles safer when his dear
friend T.E Lawrence who died from a motorcycle crash.
After that idea a man with the name of Professor C.F Lombard of Southern California
made and patented a helmet made of layers of leather to disperse and absorb the impact of a
crash. Well that was the theory any ways sadly, the first models were ineffective, due to lack of
materials to use. It would take years for research in materials and design of the helmet to make
it successful.

to form the shell of a helmet. These helmets are not that hard and require extra padding (which
is usually foam) to meet safety standards.
2: Fiber Glass These shells cost more than plastic. This is because they are harder to make. To
make these helmets it requires layer and layers of fiber cloth. The advantage of these shells are
they are harder and lighter than plastic. This shell is also good at absorbing impact.
3: Kevlar These helmets shells are very strong which then means there doesn t need to be as
many layers. Since there are less layers there is more room for padding. This concludes with the
result that Kevlar helmets are very light weight and smaller which makes these helmets the
best on the market. (Nine, 2014)

Description Of A Night Of Sleep Essay
Snezhana Longwell
RESP 240
September 12, 2016 During a night of sleep, we pass through 5 cycles, with 4 stages being non rapid
eye movement sleep (NREM) and the last being rapid eye movement sleep (REM). The sleep cycle
follows a pattern where it starts over every 90 minutes.1 When in stage one, you are in a very light
state of sleep, and you can be very easily awakened. Eye movement just starts to slow down and
muscles begin to relax.2 Then entering stage two, brain waves become slower and eye movement
ceases, sometimes displaying spindles on the epochs.2 During this stage your heart rate and breathing
remain the same, but your body starts to cool down as your temperature begins to decrease.1 Upon
entering stages 3 and 4, you enter a deep sleep and it is hard to be awakened. In stage 3, your brain
waves are very slow, or known as delta waves on the epoch.2 During these stages, you begin to breath
slower, your blood pressure falls, and your muscles are fully relaxed. The last and final stage is known
as REM sleep, and it occurs about every 90 minutes. You start to breathe faster, your eyes move very
rapidly, heart rate goes up, and muscles are paralyzed.2 This is the stage where you dream.1
Polysomnography is a sleep study test that is used to identify any sleep disorders. During the sleep
study, thing such as brain waves, oxygen levels, eye movement and heart rate are recorded throughout
the entire sleep.3 Snap electrodes are used to record things like heart rate

Russell s Theory Of Denoting In The Principles Of Mathematics
2.1.2. Problem with the Theory of Denoting in The Principles of Mathematics:
Russell s theory of denoting as exposed in The Principles of Mathematics considers that whatever can
be mentioned is a thing or a term i.e., an object. Thus, things, whether exist(like, the present queen of
England) or not (like, the golden mountain) have being if it can be used as the logical subject of a
proposition. This view of Russell is closely akin to that of Meinong s. However, there are some points
of disagreement too. Two main theses of Meinong s theory of object ( Über Gegenstandstheorie) are i)
There are objects that do not exist. (T1) ii) Every object that does not exist is yet constituted in some
way or other and thus may be made the subject of a true predication. (T2) This is, in fact, the doctrine
of Aussersen independence of sosein (character) from sein (being). Meinong thinks, even if an object
happens to be unthinkable, it is something having at least the property of being unthinkable. And,
whether or not something exists or has any other kind of being, it is an object i.e., something about
which one is conscious, according to Meinong. Russell s view at the time of The Principles of
Mathematics, resembles Meinong s in that Russell also holds that every object of thought has some
being. In The Principles of Mathematics , Russell says

The Food Stamp Program And The Supplemental Nutrition...
Formerly known as the Food Stamp Program (FSP), The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP) is the largest federal nutrition assistance program and exists to protect low income Americans
from hunger and its associated consequences by increasing access to food. Approximately 44 million
people received SNAP benefits this year as of August of 2016.1 Due to the fact that low income
Americans tend to have problems with obesity and poor diet2,3, it would make sense that there would
be interest to endorse healthy choices by means of federally nutrition assistance programs.4 However,
there is insufficient evidence to require SNAP participants to spend a certain percentage of their
benefits on healthy foods because food stamp participation may not contribute to poor diet quality,
restrictions may not be effective in changing what food stamp participants purchase, and there is no
solid evidence that exists that Food Stamp Program participation directly leads to obesity.
This policy is not necessary for a variety of reasons. For one, participation in the Food Stamp program
may not necessarily contribute to poor diet quality. A statement released by the USDA claims that food
stamp recipients are equally likely to choose foods with minimal nutritional value as those who do not
receive food stamp benefits4. In a recent evaluation and analysis of many instances of data about the
quality of SNAP participant s diet differences from those with a similar income who are not

The Physical Pain Of The Worst Pain
Up to now, I have only described the physical pain. Which as it turns out was and is not even close to
being the worst pain. The worst pain resides way back in that dark place you do not want to go,
because you know if you allow yourself to crawl there, you may never come back. All along the way,
through this journey through pain, I have always allowed time to beat myself up and question
everything about whom, why and how come I made the choices I have made. I questioned my
manhood. I questioned my dedication. I questioned everything but the truth. I was physically unable to
do it. The mental exhaustion from the physical limitations were impeding my judgement. Admitting
this would mean acknowledging I was not a man. I would be unable to provide for my family. I was
pushing myself closer to that dark spot. I was getting down on myself. I had already pushed people
away with my attitude and misery. As each day passed, and I realized another person I had hurt or bad
decision I made, I became more distant and reclusive. More bitter, more angry and I could not stop it.
What I was failing to realize was I was already on the spiral slide down the dark abyss to hell. I would
go through this never ending cycle. The center of the circle is pain and circling around it are
depression, anger and anxiety. It was a never ending cycle. Always in one of those dark places.
The pain, as is my leg, is gone. I am not sure how eight years of pain wound up disappearing that
quickly. The hard part

Custody Of Child Custody
INTRODUCTION
Marriage is a union of two humans. More often than not marriages result in children. Some might
even say reproduction is main aim and objective of the union through marriage. Parents take immense
care of their children; they put them on a pedestal and dedicate their entire lives to the upbringing of
their children.
But what happens in cases of divorce? When parents have exceeded their threshold and divorce is
inevitable the settlement of child custody is very important. When we use the term custody we must
understand its legal meaning. Custody of a child, when parents divorce, only implies as to who the
child will physically reside with. Both parents continue to be natural guardians. The custodial parent
will be the primary caretaker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By saying that older children are given the choice of custody the court does not neglect the welfare of
the child aspect. Even though the courts believe that male children of age sixteen years and above and
female children of age fourteen years and above should not be compelled to live in a custody they
dislike it is also important that this factor alone cannot determine the custody of the children. This is
because in Venkataramma v. Tulsi the court found that the wishes of the children are found to be
induced by persuasion and even torture in some cases.
Other than these, in certain exceptional cases it is noted that the custody of minor children may be
granted to third persons if that is what the welfare of the child requires. In Baby v. Vijay, granting
custody of two minor children to their maternal grandfather, the court observed that, even if the father
is not found unfit, custody might be given to a third person in the interest of welfare of the

Monarchy Vs. Democracy In Ancient Rome
The Roman government is very unique compared to others. While many places had either a monarchy
or democracy the Romans found a way to have both. The Roman empire had both a senate and an
emperor. The Senate made up the Democracy part having elected officials who although made laws
couldn t without approval of the emperor. The Emperor made up the Monarchy part having the final
say in all important objectives. The Roman Emperor was very much like our modern day president.
He oversaw the senate often conducting the meetings. Before Rome was an empire, it was a republic
with a long history of democratic rule. After ousting the Etruscans and their king, city state was ruled
by a Senate and/or an assembly with elected magistrates consuls ... Show more content on

The speaking order was similar to that of the seating arrangement, in which the princeps senatus held
the first chair, followed by the consuls, censors, praetors, aediles, tribunes and finally, the quaestors.
There were no limits to debating and various methods of delay and subversion were employed.
Among these, the practice of the filibuster, or speaking at incredible lengths to derail the opposition
and delay voting, was a popular one. Voting in the Senate could be taken by voice or show of hands in
unimportant matters, but important or formal motions were decided by a quorum, or an actual physical
division of the house to either side of the floor. In these cases even non voting members were allowed
to take places on either side of the issue, lending their support to a particular cause or motion, or to

Ophelia Laertes Character Analysis
Sometimes for an individual the most important thing for them is their values. However those values
can sometimes restrict what actions a person can do. Values like loyalty, family, and power can result
in people having to meet certain requirements to uphold those values. When I was in elementary
school, being loyal to my friends meant that I could not do things like play with other students, sit
with different people during lunch, and it was expected of me to keep their secrets. There was a
moment in which a friend told me that he had broken the rules by playing on the side of the
playground that was hidden from the view of the teachers. A teacher noticed some students coming
from that area and she knew that they were from my class. She stopped ... Show more content on

There also seems to be a focus on the honor of Ophelia. This means that Laertes has a sense of
importance for the honor of his family. Laertes also states that with too credent ear you list his songs.
His concerns are focused on Ophelia and the damage that might come about from her interaction with
Hamlet. This concern comes with the many warnings that Laertes gives to Ophelia. Among these
warnings include her heart and chaste treasure open . This concern that Laertes has for Ophelia goes
beyond the norm by also going into the sexual life of Ophelia. There seems to be a strong relationship
and a sense of connection between Laertes and Ophelia in order to openly talk about this topic with
her. He also tries to give this information before leaving for France. This means that protecting
Ophelia is one of his priorities. This sense of loyalty towards his family, especially his sister is what
drives him to discuss and try to warn her. The devotion towards his family can be seen by the way
Laertes tries his best to warn Ophelia before leaving and even though it might be the hard truth. There
is a sense of responsibility for Laertes to warn Ophelia about the dangers that her actions can have to
her honor. Laertes concern for honor results from his loyalty to his family and it actually strengthens
that sense of responsibility that Laertes feels he has to protect the honor of his family. This
unconditional love for his family results in Laertes revealing the strong senses of devotion that he has
towards his family. The strength of the unconditional love is so big, that his value of family can be
used against Laertes. The intentions of Laertes actions are also clarified by his value of honor as he
reveals a big concern for it. This means that Laertes value of honor

Secondly use the comb to section off a piece of hair that is about 1 inch wide. Then apply you setting
product, preferably mousse, thoroughly though the hair. Next you will wrap the hair around the Flexi
rod in a spiral downward motion and curl the rod upward. After that bend each ends of the flexi rod in
opposite directions to secure the rod. Repeat steps 2 5 on entire hair until finished. Once completed

The issue of power will always be present, however this needs to be addressed through building
healthy trusting relationships between staff and service users and ensuring there are adequate reporting
systems should this become an issue. Staff and service user belief and value systems can cause
communication issues. It is important to put your own beliefs and values to one side and be open
minded to others. If we rigidly place upon others our beliefs and values this will effect
communication.
When communicating with family members it is important to respect confidentiality both from the
family member and the service user. Knowing so much about a service user over a period of 6 months
can cause complacency in what staff know about a client and where communicating with family can
become controversial. I always check out who is calling or enquiring about a client before disclosing
any information. Client confidentiality contracts are signed by service users and next of kin is
identified. Staff members also sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure there are procedures should
confidentiality be broken.
When communicating with outside agencies, issues occasionally arise. It can be very difficult to get
hold of specific people. Phone calls and/or paperwork may not be returned. Simply marking an e mail
URGENT can help. Logging any communication between organisations can be useful as it provides
evidence of calls, e mails, texts etc. Service

The Assassination Of President Kennedy s Assassination
President Kennedy s assassination is one of America s most fascinating and infamous conspiracies.
Though we still do not know who is actually responsible, evidence points towards the communistic
Cubans as being the killers of our nation s young president. Even Lyndon B. Johnson, the President
inaugurated after Kennedy s death said, I ll tell you something about Kennedy s murder that will rock
you...Kennedy was trying to get Castro, but Castro got to him first. President Kennedy s mysterious
assassination can be revealed through the political assassin Herminio Diaz Garcia, the German film
Rendezvous with Death and the Cuban mobster Santo Trafficante s allegations as these prove the
Cubans were the ones responsible for the theft of President ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While Herminio was in prison, Cuesta told him about the night of an abortive raid against Castro.
After his story, Diaz uttered words that Cuesta would always remember. When sharing his story,
Martinez said Herminio confessed to Tony Cuesta that he had taken part in the death of the US
president. Many years later, in Florida, Reinaldo heard the same evidence from another person, a
fellow Cuban exile, Remigio Arce, who said, Listen, the one who killed the president was our little
friend. Investigative writer Anthony Summers believes that what Martinez is the truth. Martinez struck
me after two days of tough interviewing of a man in his eighties as someone with nothing to gain, who
appeared to be credible. Diaz seems to be the killer, he was a known political assassin, a marksman
and an employee for Santo Trafficante, one of the two suspects in the assassination. He was also
involved with one of the more dangerous and extreme anti Castro groups. The Mafia had every motive
to do away with President Kennedy because they were being pursued as never before by the
government. At the same time, a large part of the anti Castro movement felt betrayed by Kennedy. It
[Diaz] is an important development that should be taken seriously. Hermino Diaz, one of the great
crack shots for the Cubans, has been labeled as one of the deadliest Cuban political assassins, and
therefore can be seen a point in how the Cubans killed President Kennedy. Secondly, the German film

Providing high level luxury service to its clientele, Cunard s name is associated with elegance, excellence, and tradition. Its seven ships (5 luxury and 4 premium) follows Cunard s high quality service pattern, giving to the company 50% of the market share in the luxury segment and 90 % of occupancy in 1990. The success and performance of the company is considered high for the cruise industry. This campaign will show the company expertise, trustworthiness, and likeability with powerful visual appeal linked with a strong slogan (ex: Cunard, the life experience). This approach may open the opportunity to link the attributes of the brand (excellence and elegance) with a celebrity (ex: Cindy Crawford), allowing the audience to remind the brand s name. Communication Channels Mass Media: Advertising in mass media will be focused only in the corporate image (brand equity), using the same visual appeal, but with a strong message and portraying different Cunard s ships, places, food, and activities. The idea is to create desire in the audience s minds for the experience of traveling in a Cunard s luxury cruise. Macro scheduling for seasons will drive the portraying of advertisement in television and magazines, targeting those who have never been in a luxury cruise, or those who never experience the elegance of a Cunard cruise. Sales Promotion Since 95% of consumers book their cruises through travel agents, sales and promotions will target travel agencies. Cunard will offer better promotion discounts to travel agencies to stimulate the preference for Cunard packages. Because 65% of the travelers pay full tickets, the agency can choose to sell or not the full package with a discount. Having a better margin of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Great Communicator By Ronald Reagan As stated in an article from Newsmakers, Ronald Reagan was known as the Great Communicator because he was able to clearly speak to the public due to his unusual experiences before presidency (Newsmakers). Every president of the United States has a unique story, but Reagan possessed many remarkable characteristics. Today, many people recognize Reagan as a former president, but few know about the struggles he faced and his success before presidency; his political party transition, handling economic fluctuation, and his attitude throughout his terms in office made him an unforgettable political figure. Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois and grew up in Dixon, Illinois. Dixon is a typical small town in the midwest. Unlike many other presidents, Reagan had a rough upbringing. According to a book titled Up Close: Ronald Reagan, his father Jack was an alcoholic. At 11 years old, Reagan witnessed his father passed out on the porch one evening after returning from the YMCA. He had to drag his father into the house and put him in bed. Jack was constantly fighting alcoholism for most of his life causing him to struggle at work, fight with his family members, and disappear from home. Reagan s mother, Nelle, continued telling him and his older brother, Neil, that their father was addicted to alcohol and he could not control it. Nelle even sent Ronald and Neil to live with relatives when Jack s alcohol addiction worsened. Reagan explained that he enjoyed his childhood, but others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The man at the crossroads was located at the center of Rockefeller center in New York. He was right in destroying Diego s mural because of several reasons. The first reason is that Rivera didn t achieve Nelson s vision in how the mural would turn out. The second reason why Rockefeller was right in destroying the painting was because it was too controversial. The last reason is that Nelson s reputation would have been ruined by the mural. Overall Rockefeller was right in destroying Rivera s mural. In addition, why Nelson was right about destroying Rivera s mural was that his vision wasn t achieved by Diego. Rivera didn t achieve Nelson s vision in his work of the mural Man at the Crossroads. • 5. Hemophilia Research Paper Hemophilia The definition of hemophilia is that it s a rare disease housed in the body. What happens is the blood does not clot normally due to the fact it lacks the sufficient blood clotting proteins. Also, when having this disorder of hemophilia, the person can bleed for a longer period of time after a wound of cut. Depending on the person with hemophilia so small cuts or injuries for the most part do not become much of a problem in their day to day lives. The process can be done by infusing prepared factor concentrates and people who have hemophilia eventually learn how to use these infusions on their own in order to stop their bleeding episodes and, by doing the infusions regularly this for the most part can even stop most bleeding episodes from even happening. But it s going to take good medical care from doctors and nurses who have experience in dealing with people who have the disorder in order to administer preventive solutions. The disorder of hemophilia is a genetic one which means it is inherited, and to this day there is still no cure but treatment to live with this disorder. Hemophilia can and does affect all racial and ethnic groups of people and within those groups it has been found that majority of those with hemophilia are men. Now being that this is inherited let s look in to the chromosome theory of inheritance, this theory brings forth the idea that the genes are located on chromosomes. This line of thought was based on the experiments of Thomas Hunt Morgan using fruit flies. So, with those findings from the data given it can be deduced that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sugar Cultivation During The Nineteenth Century Essay In the British Caribbean during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, sugar cultivation came into existence as the Europeans slowly moved away from the production of tobacco. This was done for two main reasons; the first being, the Europeans saw how lucrative the production of the sugarcane crop can be for them and secondly, it would have significantly reduced the cost of sweeteners for both men and women of British descent. Honey, being the only substitution for sugar at the time, was considered to be very expensive and as a result an alternative was needed. In order for this production system to be fully adopted, the Europeans required a labour force that could endure the hardships associated with toiling in the sugar plantation. This is where the enslaved Africans were introduced. To the Europeans, Africans were considered to be much more effective because in their view they were seen as having no soul. These Africans were taken from the West African coast primarily around the Senegal River and Angola, (Campbell 1) placed upon slave ships and brought into the Caribbean to be sold to different estate owners or managers. From then onwards, this was the introduction of slavery and as such this essay would be based upon the book entitled Beyond Massa. This book was written by John F. Campbell, a historian and current History lecturer at the University of the West Indies, which is located at the St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad. In addition to, Mr. Campbell also received ... Mine just so happens to be a tragic loss of a classmate. In 2013, Dillon Jamal Neal was just starting his junior year of high school. Proudly wearing number fifty five on Friday nights, Dillon played defensive end for the Ouachita Parish Lions in what we call, The Lion s Den. He had such a lighthearted spirit that you cherish knowing someone like him forever. He was an angel who walked amongst the Earth, that God called home to honor Dillon with a pair of wings he earned. It has been four years since he left the Earth and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think back on the crazy conversations we had or all the laughs we shared over the years. After Dillon passed away, I realized that death does not wait on anyone so you should get your life right with God while you still can. On November 1, 2013, the day of Friday night football, Ouachita Parish High School and West Monroe High School went head to head in the biggest rivalry football game of the season. Everyone is super excited about the game; we could barely focus on our school work. Finally, game time approached slowly but surely, and the pressure has increased extremely. The long awaited matchup was about to play out before the student body s eyes. Sitting in the stands watching the game with eager, the crowd felt the tension between the rivals. • 8. The History for Control over the Pacific Northwest Throughout the history for control over the Pacific Northwest many battles were fought. We found the ancestors of our families to be taken by surprise of the many actions we took. Many different tribes had established long lasting communities in the 18th century. Such as the Chinook, Salish and Nez Perce etc. The land was spread throughout the cascades through the Rocky Mountains. Years of torment and battle began from the Spanish and British explorers looking for the land. They searched for what they could not find at home, most of them having no idea what to expect when they arrived. In 1792, Captain George Vancouver was the first explorer to sail the waters of Puget Sound, claiming British sovereignty over the entire region. But he was not the only captain to have found the Pacific Northwest. Captain Robert Gray found the Columbia River and soon after Lewis and Clark made their way down the Rockies and the river as well. Many different explorers wanted to capture and take control of the land they didn t own. They knew that the task was not one that would be easy. Lots of different explorers faced the task of removing the Natives as well as the other Countries fighting for the land. The settlers soon began to realize the opportunities they had in front of them. Explorers from Spain, England, Russia, and the new United States, looked with interest toward the Northwest. A major goal of the explorers was to discover the so called Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, both chose to ignore any job offers that were given directly to them. • 10. Thinking Ahead Contingency Planning And Managing The... Thinking ahead contingency planning and managing the unexpected are core skills for a perioperative nurse. Alfredsdottir and Bjornsdottir (2008) describe how prevention is a core component of the perioperative nurses work. Perioperative nurses consider how the background of their patient may contribute to their susceptibility and instability and how these may be risk factors during their patients surgery, this means trying to imagine everything that could go wrong and taking reasonable steps to manage these scenarios. In this case study Mr Knight, a 55 year old man is presenting to the operating room to undergo an exploratory laparoscopy for a suspected bowel obstruction, with his history of body mass index (BMI) of 35, Type 2 diabetes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These conditions can have a negative affect on surgical outcomes (Bellanger Bray, 2005). Obesity also has surgical implications largely around wounds and their management. As an obese patient Mr Knight is at an increased risk of having his laparoscopic operation converted to an open procedure, largely due to expose and dissection problems (Makino, Shukla, Rubino, Milsom, 2012). Knowing Mr Knights previous surgical history is particularly important when preparing for laparoscopic abdominal surgery, this is because previous abdominal surgery creates adhesions. Adhesions are a known risk factor for laparoscopic procedures being converted to open, this risk is increased when the patient is obese (Barleben et al., 2009). There are a number of risk factors that may contribute to the predictability of a laparoscopic procedure converting to open these include patient comorbidities, type of surgery, illness pathology, and surgeon skill (Tekkis, Senagore, Delaney, 2005). Patient positioning is an integral part of surgical preparedness; the whole perioperative team has a responsibility towards the patients regarding surgical positioning. Mr Knights position will depend on the type of laparoscopic surgery being performed and the surgeons preference for this procedure, positioning is often a compromise between surgical access, airway management and patient safety. The very act of surgical positioning can lead to injury and with laparoscopic surgery injuries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The present crisis being faced by the company seems to be a result of protectionism in the global banana market. Ideally there should be no restriction for free flow of goods and services but this is not true. There is hardly any field where restrictions are not present in trade as the nation/region imposing those restrictions wants to protect local economies from tough international competition. Banana industry is no exception to this general rule. The world is still in a transition phase as regards real integration of the world trade into an ideal single market. Undoubtedly the protectionism has played a spoil sport for big players in banana market but at the same time provided much needed support to developing nations especially ACP region that formed former colonies of Britain and France. The trade barriers proved successful for the less efficient producers as they got protection against bigger players. Such a strategy can provide control to smaller entities in growing bigger and providing tough competition in the market. Despite the protectionist policies of European region as regards banana trade the US companies and those from other parts of the world have made good money out of it. The trade has been quite profitable through all these years and has rather stopped this industry from becoming a home ground for one or two big players only. The fact that this business needs a ... The students remember more when they spend less time out of the classroom. This is why year round school is a better option for students. A common misunderstanding of the year round school year is that the school has more days than an original school year. In all actuality, students in both types of schooling only attend around 180 days. The only difference is that students in year round attend school with different arrangement in breaks. It is called the 45/15 plan. This is allows students to spend 45 days in the classroom and then take a 15 day break. By following this plan students do not forget as much material they learn. There is not much time to forget it. Students take a short break from school and then roll right from one grade to another. By students remembering more, teachers do not have to spend weeks reviewing the material students should have remembered from the previous year. This statement is illogical and quite humorous, as one would think spectacles were made for the nose and stockings were made for legs, not vice versa. Anyway, this whole story is based on cause and effect. Every single decision Candide makes affects him in some type of way later in the story. Nevertheless, it is not obvious what the outcome of the majority of his decisions will be, as this story has many twists and random outcomes. It all starts at the castle of Thunder ten tronckh where young Candide lays a kiss on Cunégonde. One might believe kissing your love would lead to good things to come, however, it is the complete opposite. The effect of this cause results in Candide being banished from the castle to defend himself alone. The success rate of your business depends on the profits or losses of your business. Every business wants to satisfy their customers and gain profit but sometimes that s not always what the turnout is. The satisfaction of your customers is dependent on the products or services they have obtained. However there are nonprofit organizations that are not seeking profit, an example would be an animal rescue shelter. Inside any successful business there are owners, employees and customers. Then there are the activities that occur inside which would be management, marketing and finance. Think of a business as a bunch of classes where there are different groups and roles for each. The employees and management are actually in the same class because the management is coordinating with the employees to achieve the satisfaction of the customers. For example the managers of a salon would be there coordinating with their stylists to make sure that they are performing the services on their clients with good quality and that they are being efficiently. Then another class group would contain marketing and consumers. They would be in the same class because the focus of all marketing activities is to satisfy the customers. For example the marketers of a salon would be collecting information about the services they provide. They also would figure out changes that should be made to the salon to make sure the customers are satisfied. Another part of marketing is advertising which for a salon could be deals on services and creating an email group to notify the clients. Marketing can be a great thing when it comes to expanding your business. The third and last class would be owners and finance. This is because it s the owner s responsibility to provide financial resources for the business. For example ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. International Typographic Style Essay The focus of this essay is to explain why the International Typographic Style or Swiss style was so important to the mid twentieth century and how it got started. Firstly, it is an art movement that internationally began in the 1950 s, but the origins can be traced back at least thirty years. It can be thought of as a combination of elements from other movements such as Constructivism, De Stijl and the Bauhaus. According to Richard Hollis book Swiss Graphic Design, there are at least three factors that account for the Swiss style (Hollis, R. 2006, P9), these being the country s location, the language and the culture. There is evidence to prove that there are at least 2 other factors, especially for the origin of the style, which is shown in the book, along with several others. Although not directly linked to the foundation of the style itself, these 2 other factors include the designers and the typography, after all, it is known as the International Typographic Style. In this essay we will be discussing each of them in turn, and explaining views as to why they were important and what effect they had on graphic design in the mid twentieth century. We begin with one of the most important factors, the designers themselves. Without the designers to create the style, there would be no style. Josef Müller Brockmann was a leading figure of Swiss graphic design in the 1950 s and 1960 s. He began his path towards the Swiss style in the early 1930 s as a student of Ernst ... Being in such a depressed neurological state makes people act certain ways and do certain things. According to the medical research group Mayo Clinic: Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. The English Revolution from 1640 to 1660 Although the English Revolution began in 1640, there was discontent and conflict during the Stuart dynasty which lasted between 1603 and 1640. Between 1603 and 1625 King James I ruled England. He was unsuccessful in unifying Scotland and England, there was steep religious division between the Church of England, which was Anglo Catholic , and the Protestant Nonconformists, political division between the crown and parliament consistently disagreeing over the constitution, fiscal policy, taxation, religious policy, and foreign policy, and England s beginning colonization of North America and the Caribbean. In 1625, King James I dies and King Charles succeeds him. King Charles begins his reign with lack of money, religious disagreement and a European war, the Thirty Years War which King James I attempted to keep out of. From 1629 to 1640, King Charles I tries to rule without parliament and raises revenue outside of Parliament through his prerogative powers. This revenue was mainly through customs taxation, granting monopolies, and ship money. This not only irritated parliament, but also many of his subjects. During the first week of classes at MIT, Will solves a difficult graduate level math problem that one of the math professors left an extremely difficult problem on the board to challenge his students, in hopes that someone would solve it by the end of the semester (Van Sant, 1997). However, Will solves the problem but does not want to let anyone know that it was him that solved the difficult equation, therefore it came to everyone s surprise when they discovered it was actually Will who solved the problem in such a short matter of time, indicating his hidden intellect (Van Sant, 1997). Outside of work, Will got into an argument with a group of boys who previously tried to bully him (Van Sant, 1997). For over two centuries, persia and Greece have been waging war on one another. Although Persia and Greece gave men more power than women, both empires developed different social structures and unalike religious beliefs. Persia and Greece both have dissimilar social structures that consist of certain individuals. In early western Iran, the society was categorized into three social classes. The classes consisted of warriors, priests, and peasants. Warriors had the privilege in gardening, hunting, and fighting. The priest was in charge of supervising sacrifices. And the peasants or common people were farmers and shepherds. The Persian King had his groups of people as well. There were the son of Persian aristocrats, noblemen, the central administration, the king s bodyguard, and many servants/slaves. On the other hand, the Greeks had two societies: Athens and Sparta. Athens was divided into four classes. The top classes were allowed to hold state office while the lower class could not. Sparta was separated into three classes: Spartiate, perioeci, and helots. The Spartiate could participate in politics, serve the military, and run Sparta. The perioeci could own land, serve in the military, and they were in charge of Sparta s communication and trade. I did however constrain the number of features so it didn t decrease the uncertainty in demand. In order to minimize the overstocking, the forecast estimates for Model A were reduced; this caused continual understocking throughout the year and resulted in no inventory at the end of the year. The Market Survey was used this year to help successfully estimate the demand. Similar to year one, a change order was necessary to avoid understocking of Model A. Year Three In year three, forecasting was altered to prevent stockout of Model A. As a result, both Model A and Model B stocks were unutilized. I did not change order in year three. Looking back, a change order would have helped decrease production of Model B due to outside factors that foresaw the decrease in demand. Year Four During year four, I chose a careful forecast for Model B. The main reason for this was due to the high standard deviation in forecast demand. The on shore production facilities had a 100 percent utilization, which meant the demand for Model B would not increase immediately. Therefore, outsourced facilities had to be utilized, resulting in a big lead time. Furthermore, I needed to use the extra production facility that I had not used in the previous years. In this year, Model B saw a big amount of stockouts, therefore, there had to be a decrease in production of Model A to make room for Model B; this was not effective. • 25. The Importance Of Teacher Attrition In Education Twenty three percent of teachers leave the teaching profession during their first five years of teaching (Elisa Shernoff, Ane Marín ̃ ez Lora, Stacy Frazier, Lara Jakobsons, Marc Atkins, Deborah Bonner, 2011, p. 465). Teaching has been a career before writing was established, however there has never been such a high attrition rate in teaching. Attrition is defined as a reduction in workforce without firing of personnel, as when workers resign or retire and are not replaced (CITATION Dictionary .com). While the current flow of students training to become teachers is still strong, novice teachers do not find enough encouragement in their first few years of teaching to remain in the profession. Instead, their experiences cause them to feel discouraged and disrespected to the point that they do not believe that teaching is where they belong. This crisis regarding education sustainability needs to be redefined to include the sustainability of teachers. Sustaining future education relies on creating and hiring teachers who enjoy being part of a learning environment. The use of student teaching, teacher collaboration, and less mandated learning goals can lower the teacher attrition rate and sustain education. Also, although some people believe that other resources are more important to sustain, education is going to be detrimental to the success of future societies. Student teaching can help lessen teacher attrition by giving the pre service teacher experience in a classroom, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Descartes Ontological Argument For The Existence Of God Section 6 Matthew Shields Word Count: 10/30/2014 Descartes Ontological Argument for the Existence of God The Ontological Argument for the existence of God is an a priori argument that aims to demonstrate that God s real world existence follows necessarily from the concept of God. In Meditation V of Discourse on Methods and Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes presents his version of the Ontological Argument for the existence of God. In this essay, I will argue that this argument fails because necessary existence for a concept does not entail its real world existence. Descartes argument for the existence of God relies on two key assertions: 1. His understanding of God as an infinite, independent being. 2. His claim that existence is a perfection. In Meditation III, Descartes clarifies his understanding of God to be a substance that is infinite, eternal, immutable, independent, supremely intelligent, supremely powerful, and which created both myself and everything else (if anything else there be) that exists. It is important to note that in speaking of God as infinite, Descartes seems to mean that God is infinitely perfect. He asserts God, I take to be actually infinite, so that nothing can be added to his perfection. (p. 32) Descartes understands God as a uniquely infinite and independent entity that exists by its own nature. By contrast, all other entities are finite and contingent beings that must depend on another entity for their existence. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sleep cycle follows a pattern where it starts over every 90 minutes.1 When in stage one, you are in a very light state of sleep, and you can be very easily awakened. Eye movement just starts to slow down and muscles begin to relax.2 Then entering stage two, brain waves become slower and eye movement ceases, sometimes displaying spindles on the epochs.2 During this stage your heart rate and breathing remain the same, but your body starts to cool down as your temperature begins to decrease.1 Upon entering stages 3 and 4, you enter a deep sleep and it is hard to be awakened. In stage 3, your brain waves are very slow, or known as delta waves on the epoch.2 During these stages, you begin to breath slower, your blood pressure falls, and your muscles are fully relaxed. The last and final stage is known as REM sleep, and it occurs about every 90 minutes. You start to breathe faster, your eyes move very rapidly, heart rate goes up, and muscles are paralyzed.2 This is the stage where you dream.1 Polysomnography is a sleep study test that is used to identify any sleep disorders. Problem with the Theory of Denoting in The Principles of Mathematics: Russell s theory of denoting as exposed in The Principles of Mathematics considers that whatever can be mentioned is a thing or a term i.e., an object. Thus, things, whether exist(like, the present queen of England) or not (like, the golden mountain) have being if it can be used as the logical subject of a proposition. This view of Russell is closely akin to that of Meinong s. However, there are some points of disagreement too. Two main theses of Meinong s theory of object ( Über Gegenstandstheorie) are i) There are objects that do not exist. (T1) ii) Every object that does not exist is yet constituted in some way or other and thus may be made the subject of a true predication. (T2) This is, in fact, the doctrine of Aussersen independence of sosein (character) from sein (being). Meinong thinks, even if an object happens to be unthinkable, it is something having at least the property of being unthinkable. And, whether or not something exists or has any other kind of being, it is an object i.e., something about which one is conscious, according to Meinong. Russell s view at the time of The Principles of Mathematics, resembles Meinong s in that Russell also holds that every object of thought has some being. Approximately 44 million people received SNAP benefits this year as of August of 2016.1 Due to the fact that low income Americans tend to have problems with obesity and poor diet2,3, it would make sense that there would be interest to endorse healthy choices by means of federally nutrition assistance programs.4 However, there is insufficient evidence to require SNAP participants to spend a certain percentage of their benefits on healthy foods because food stamp participation may not contribute to poor diet quality, restrictions may not be effective in changing what food stamp participants purchase, and there is no solid evidence that exists that Food Stamp Program participation directly leads to obesity. This policy is not necessary for a variety of reasons. For one, participation in the Food Stamp program may not necessarily contribute to poor diet quality. A statement released by the USDA claims that food stamp recipients are equally likely to choose foods with minimal nutritional value as those who do not receive food stamp benefits4. In a recent evaluation and analysis of many instances of data about the quality of SNAP participant s diet differences from those with a similar income who are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Physical Pain Of The Worst Pain Up to now, I have only described the physical pain. Which as it turns out was and is not even close to being the worst pain. The worst pain resides way back in that dark place you do not want to go, because you know if you allow yourself to crawl there, you may never come back. All along the way, through this journey through pain, I have always allowed time to beat myself up and question everything about whom, why and how come I made the choices I have made. I questioned my manhood. I questioned my dedication. I questioned everything but the truth. I was physically unable to do it. The mental exhaustion from the physical limitations were impeding my judgement. Admitting this would mean acknowledging I was not a man. I would be unable to provide for my family. I was pushing myself closer to that dark spot. I was getting down on myself. I had already pushed people away with my attitude and misery. As each day passed, and I realized another person I had hurt or bad decision I made, I became more distant and reclusive. More bitter, more angry and I could not stop it. What I was failing to realize was I was already on the spiral slide down the dark abyss to hell. I would go through this never ending cycle. The center of the circle is pain and circling around it are depression, anger and anxiety. It was a never ending cycle. Always in one of those dark places. The pain, as is my leg, is gone. I am not sure how eight years of pain wound up disappearing that quickly. The hard part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Custody Of Child Custody INTRODUCTION Marriage is a union of two humans. More often than not marriages result in children. Some might even say reproduction is main aim and objective of the union through marriage. Parents take immense care of their children; they put them on a pedestal and dedicate their entire lives to the upbringing of their children. But what happens in cases of divorce? When parents have exceeded their threshold and divorce is inevitable the settlement of child custody is very important. When we use the term custody we must understand its legal meaning. Custody of a child, when parents divorce, only implies as to who the child will physically reside with. Both parents continue to be natural guardians. The custodial parent will be the primary caretaker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By saying that older children are given the choice of custody the court does not neglect the welfare of the child aspect. Even though the courts believe that male children of age sixteen years and above and female children of age fourteen years and above should not be compelled to live in a custody they dislike it is also important that this factor alone cannot determine the custody of the children. This is because in Venkataramma v. Tulsi the court found that the wishes of the children are found to be induced by persuasion and even torture in some cases. Other than these, in certain exceptional cases it is noted that the custody of minor children may be granted to third persons if that is what the welfare of the child requires. In Baby v. The Emperor made up the Monarchy part having the final say in all important objectives. The Roman Emperor was very much like our modern day president. Among these, the practice of the filibuster, or speaking at incredible lengths to derail the opposition and delay voting, was a popular one. After his story, Diaz uttered words that Cuesta would always remember. When sharing his story, Martinez said Herminio confessed to Tony Cuesta that he had taken part in the death of the US president. Many years later, in Florida, Reinaldo heard the same evidence from another person, a fellow Cuban exile, Remigio Arce, who said, Listen, the one who killed the president was our little friend. Investigative writer Anthony Summers believes that what Martinez is the truth. Martinez struck me after two days of tough interviewing of a man in his eighties as someone with nothing to gain, who appeared to be credible. Diaz seems to be the killer, he was a known political assassin, a marksman and an employee for Santo Trafficante, one of the two suspects in the assassination. He was also involved with one of the more dangerous and extreme anti Castro groups. The Mafia had every motive to do away with President Kennedy because they were being pursued as never before by the government. At the same time, a large part of the anti Castro movement felt betrayed by Kennedy. It [Diaz] is an important development that should be taken seriously.
