The Impact Of Social Technology On The Workplace
Social Technology in the Workplace
The exploding growth of social technologies has drastically altered the way people communicate. As a
result, the utilization of social technologies to move a business forward has become widespread.
Software tools such as blogs and wikis and social network platforms like Facebook and Twitter and
other communication technologies are helping to advance businesses. These new technologies
improve the way that tacit and explicit knowledge is recognized, categorized and distributed
throughout a firm. Knowledge in organizations is classified into two types, tacit and explicit. Knowing
the differences between explicit and tacit knowledge is key to understanding how knowledge is
shared. Explicit knowledge is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowledge sharing is of vital importance for the success of organizations. So in order to successfully
share both types of knowledge, tacit knowledge must be articulated. With the advantage of Web 2.0
technologies, organizations are able to achieve this objective.
The use of Web 2.0 technologies in organizations has introduced innovative ways of collaboration,
communication, and knowledge sharing. The result of which is a more productive and engaged
workforce. The term Web 2.0 is controversial, but plainly used to describe a new wave of Internet
technologies that allows users to do more than just access information online. (Gardner, n.d.) Blogs,
wikis and social media technologies are examples of the Web 2.0 applications that businesses can use.
These social technologies deliver benefits by multiplying the opportunities for collaboration and by
allowing knowledge to spread more effectively. (Bughin, Chui, Miller, 2009) Lets take a look at these
new tools used for collaboration and knowledge portals in organizations and the benefits they create.
The introduction of Web 2.0 has given companies the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas
within the company and also externally with customers. Blogs have become a social media tool for
organizations that promotes internal collaboration between employees as well as developing

Feeding American Food Bank Essay
Have you ever donated food to a local food bank? If you haven t or don t know what a food bank is, I
am hoping that you will by the end of this paper. Did you know food banks have their own type of a
free market? While reading this article, Sending potatoes to Idaho, I discovered many interesting facts
about food banks that I didn t know. I have learned what a free market is and how foodbanks have
been able to apply this economic principle to run more efficiently. Before 2005, Feeding America food
banks would just keep what was donated to them or new donations went to the food banks that had
been waiting for a long time. This method of collecting and distributing food seemed to work, but they
didn t consider what certain food banks needed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are also able to barter items. Bartering is when someone trades goods or services that they have
for goods or services they need. By bartering, then can negotiate equal values of goods or services to
trade. For example, if a food bank has extra canned goods, they can barter with another food bank that
has excess fresh produce. There are food banks all over the United States, and they each can grow or
specialize in different things. This variety is critical to the free market system being used by the food
banks. This way everyone sort of shares what they have, and it gets distributed equally. Feeding
America started its own market and they made their own type of currency. Making your own currency
is difficult because there are many factors that you must consider. How are they supposed to decide
who gets how much, or how do they make it so the prices can fluctuate and have the price level
remain somewhat stable? Switching over to a free market system came with a lot of those questions,
but for the most part everyone seems to like the system. They have had no major problems with the

Persuasive Speech On Racism
I haven t had a good rant in a while, and now seems to be a perfectly good time for one. I don t think
in his heart, Trump is a racist he might be a misogynist but not a true racist. I do think his was, and is,
unprepared for the rigors of being the President of the United States of America. I also believe he is a
coward because speak out against inequity but fuels the fire with Building Walls and now the repeal of
DACA. I just taught a class today, 95 percent Hispanic, and many of these students use DACA to get
an education and stay in this country. I have talked to many of these students, and not one of them
came over on their own when they were one or two years of age, but all came here with the parents
who were fleeing economic degradation in Mexico NAFTA to find a better life. They, and their
families, work and pay taxes, buy goods, support our local economy, want to get an education, and
want to become citizens, but the process is too expensive, and time consuming. They are just as
American as you and me. I had a student, who was undocumented, came over when he was one, but
didn t qualify for the Dream Act, so he worked, and put himself through Community College two
classes at a time. I asked him why he doesn t become a citizen (I had just started moved to California,
so this was all new to me). He said he wanted too, but the only way he could do so was to go back to
Mexico for ten years. My family left because of the cartels, he said in tears, I

previous the Detroit powers have dealt with a number of unfavorable business and economic issues;
however, each has shown a great deal of resilience in recent times with reestablishing the corporations
and products in the market. Structure of the Industry
Currently, the automotive industry within the United States is going through major changes and an in
depth overhaul. The demand for smaller more fuel efficient automobiles that has been brought on due
to ever increasing fuel costs is the driving factor for these changes of dynamics in production. The
continually rising fuel costs are not the only driving force in the changes of demand by the American
people. People are also much more environmentally friendly which has recently been a steering force
for American consumers away from the traditionally owned pick up trucks and sport utility vehicles.
American manufacturers have also been able to improve the market and its structure through
technology such as electric cars and hybrid technology, which are proving to be factors in the

Isaac Newton
Isaac Newton. One of the major flaws with the Copernican system manifested with the retainment of
perfect circular orbits, as theorized by Ptolemy, and even with the removal of the equant, Copernicus
still had to use some epicycles to explain retrograde. This still left many issues, because this very
unnatural movement didn t make it that much less clunky than Ptolemy s system. Johannes Kepler,
with his first law of planetary motion, provided a solution for this issue. He theorized that planets
actually move in an elliptic orbit, with the sun not necessarily at the very center of the ellipse. When
taken in account with Copernicus idea of the Earth s rotation, this got rid of the need for epicycles, and
provided a much smoother system. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, the heliocentric system driven by Copernicus disproved the ideas of two, powerful, and at the
time, most valid sources, the Ancient world and the Catholic Church. This opened up questioning and
curiosity of many other aspects of humanity in the centuries that followed, and in parallel to this the
rejection of the theological idea that man has dominance in the universe (SECOND GALE SOURCE).
This curiosity led to so many great discoveries across the course of the entire revolution, from
chemistry, to calculus, and even biology. Even though heliocentrism occurred as an astronomical
endeavor, it by itself influenced the development so many ideas not just used in astronomy. Newton s
laws of physics would never have been possible if not for the heliocentric system to back it up, and in
fact, nearly all of Kepler s, Newton s, and Galileo s work described above built on Copernicus ideas. It
can also be said that the development of heliocentrism gave rise to modern scientific method. The
mathematical and rigorous approaches to proof all used by Newton, Galileo, and Copernicus set a bar
of quality differed greatly from the very assumptive and proofless explanations for many phenomena,
many set by the Church or the Bible. The idea of developing an idea slowly, over the course of many
people s lives, while using mathematical proofs is essentially the process that occurs today when

The Importance Of Literacy Pedagogies
Literacy pedagogies have a developing and complex history in education, intertwined with social and
cultural change and evolution. Each change has paved a new path for more significant approaches and
strategies, which cater to diverse learners allowing them to create meaning and communicate more
effectively. These literacy pedagogies brought out by the changes in education have both strengths and
weaknesses. As such, educators need to explore and understand the four knowledge processes
portrayed by Kalantzis, Cope, Chan and Dalley Trim; didactic, authentic, functional, and critical
literacy approach (2016), to be able to consider how they can influence teaching and learning so they
are able to make informed decisions with regards to their students literacy learning. Teaching is
becoming increasingly complex; this is particularly evident in the area of literacy. This paper will
explore the four literacy pedagogies, their limitations and their strengths, and how they have impacted
literacy learning within the Australian educational context.
During the 19th century, didactic literacy pedagogy was the first pedagogy to become prominent
subsequent to the mass obligatory, institutionalised education (Kalantzis et al., 2016, p.84). This
approach was widely seen during the Victorian era where education was seen to be teacher centered;
according to Watkins (1999), this approach can also be seen in Australian education during the 1970s
and 1980s. During this time this pedagogy was

Intuitive Surgical Essay
Abstract
This paper will explore the strengths and weaknesses of Intuitive Surgical. This paper will analyze
which leadership model(s) and practices would encourage innovation considering the global context
of the organization. This paper will also assess how the information in the Intuitive Surgical case study
does or does not exemplify the five discovery skills. Lastly, in this paper I will assess the actions that
the leaders of this organization took to shape culture and processes to be more innovative.
The leadership model(s) and practices that would encourage innovation considering the global context
of Intuitive Surgical

As for any organization, for innovation to take place they need caring people who are will to commit
to the greater good of the organization, as well as creative people who have the capacity to turn ideas
into practical products and services. Therefore, with Intuitive Surgical patents expiring in the near
future they should channel the transformational leadership model so they can have a great chance of
building innovators within its organizations.
The second leadership model that could benefit Intuitive Surgical and help with innovation in
organizations is behavioral leadership. This type of leadership moved away from who leaders where to
what leaders did. If they continue doing what they are doing and coming up with ideas that make
patients happy with very minimal errors, this companies acquirement of innovative employees will
rise along with its products.
How the information in the Intuitive Surgical case study does or does not exemplify the five discovery
skills
In The DNA of Innovators, The discovery skills are the new ideas introduced by the innovator who did
the five skills of: associating, questioning, observing, networking, and experimenting. Intuitive
Surgical did use some of these skills very well. The first one I noticed them using was the networking
skill. According to Dyer, Gregerson Christensen, the idea networker, networks to actively tap into new

The Allegory Of Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler
Sophie Carr Western Civ November 22, 2015 The Allegory of Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler The decline
of the Weimar Republic marked a time of great concern over how post war Germany would shed its
authoritarian past and reinvent itself. Feasibly, no other film from this era could so adeptly capture the
history of immediate postwar Germany than Fritz Lang s Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler. Fritz Lang s
melodramatic tale of an elusive and depraved gambler, or player as it s literally translated, is actually
an allegory for a corrupt and economically unstable Germany that would soon give rise to fascism.
Though Lang, a fervent anti fascist, would find great success in cinematically portraying despotism in
his cult classic Metropolis (1927), Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler was the film that was the more directly
connected to a recovering Germany. Dr. Mabuse is an allegory for the political and economic strife
that took hold Weimar Germany. The film is of a man who plays a slick gambler, an esteemed
physician, and a magician. He s a player in most, if not all, senses of the word. Dr. Mabuse s character
is also described as being literally hypnotic, He [Lang] shows individuals being transformed into a
state of total submission as well as a whole audience succumbing to an exercise in mass suggestion. 1
Only the state prosecutor, Norbert von Wenk, is capable of resisting Mabuse s powers, but Mabuse s
striking supernatural powers and his loyal gang of felons thwart his investigation.

Jesus Barron And The Eucharist
Bishop Barron believed that the Eucharist was theologically problematic. He goes on to say, that Jews
at the time were extremely disgusted by the idea of eating his human flesh, because they did not
consume any flesh. However, instead of Jesus stepping back and conforming his thoughts into a better
analogy, he did exactly the opposite. He carried on with the idea of eating his flesh by stating: Unless
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you shall not have life within you.
Jesus intentionally expanded this notion in order to let the Jews at the time step out of their notions
and have faith in Him. The Greek word that is used is not the one for eating but the one for gnawing .

five forces within an industry and considering those five forces a company can identify its strengths
weaknesses within that industry in which it thinks to operate. Five forces of porter s model are as
follows: 1. Rivalry inside Industry: Company has to identify the competitors inside the industry

When the buyers are less, when buyers put large orders, alternate suppliers are available within an
industry in that the bargaining power of buyers is high. 4. Bargaining power of suppliers: A producing
industry requires raw materials other supplies to carry on their production. When the suppliers are few
and buyers are more, when products or services are not freely available, when substitutes are not
easily available in that situation the bargaining power of suppliers is high. 5. Threat of New Entrants:
It relates to the entry barriers to the New Entrants. When there are strict government rules regulations
within that industry for new entrants then it becomes difficult for new entrants to operate within that
industry. As the new entrants has to face the competitors as well. 2. What the Harley Davidson case is

HEY GUYS! GUYS! WE GOT TO TALK ABOUT 284! I just read it and I got a lot to talk about!
Because seriously, this is quite possibly one of the most hilarious and incompetent stories I ve ever

summary for this, but this is ridiculous and we got to talk about everything in this, because train
wrecks like this don t happen often. This issues fails in some of the most basic ways possible that if I

overall problems, but this is something that needs to be experienced so we are going to talk about this
scene by scene to we can enjoy this massive 5 car pileup. But before we can do that we need to talk
about the first car to start this mess for a second, 283. Now I do plan to talk about 283 in more detail
as it shows a lot of the problems of this comic when it comes to pacing and structure, but it s relevant
to 284 as it is a massive setup for it. Not just that it is prepping for the following for issues, it s also an
issue that sets up the punchline. The entire issue is dedicated to Sally, Sonic and Chip detailing what
their plan is. A common cliché ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Last Duchess Comparison
Both London and My Last Duchess explore the ideas of power through social structures, hierarchy
and synecdoche. In London Blake presents the theme of power through a reportage. The narrator
wanders through a chartered street and by the chartered Thames . This shows that in the narrator s
eyes the streets are owned and even an aspect of nature such as the River Thames is in ownership of
someone. These owners that Blake refers to is the state who are believed to have acquired so much
power that they can own natural landmarks. Due to this power, the people in London wear
metaphorical manacles that are mind forged which shows they have trapped themselves due to the
pain and suffering the higher class has caused them. Also, the repetition ... Show more content on

The narrator (Duke) who is of an upper class is having a conversation with an envoy when he
mentions Will t please you sit and look at her? . This shows the Duke s commanding nature as he
almost forces the envoy to look at his painting although he uses a question it is rhetorical (envoys do
not reply) and it shows how the Duke has power. Also, the Duke s power is emphasized as he chooses
who can see the painting since none puts by the curtain I have drawn . This gives him a sense of
importance. Browning also writes she ranked my gift...with anybody s gift . This shows that the Duke
believes that names and status hold importance, power even and he expects the name of Duchess will
be enough for her but she treats everyone the same, this angers him. Throughout the poem the Duke
says that he does not have skill in speech which from the poem we can see is false. When discussing
his lack of skill he says which I have not , This shows the power in words and ultimately how he
couldn t stop her with his words because he would have to stoop he used a different way to fix his
problem. Also, he says I choose never to stoop . The I choose shows hierarchy as he has the choice.
The use of the verb stoop is interesting as it means to directly to bend one s head, associating with the

owned. Each mode needs to be addressed equally to make improvements. If the government
implements or funds a change to a road network it should be done to either add a benefit to the rail
system. As innovations are ready to be utilized there may be a need for government assistance in
implementation due to the scale of which the transportation modes operate. The nation s railway is the
largest in the world due to the amount of land mass it crosses and size of the country. A balance needs
to be achieved between the companies that own the transportation companies and the nations end goal
that is beneficial to both the public and private sector. The many different trucking and railway
companies needs legislature to be in effect on a federal level so each company falls within the
guidelines across the country. The private and public sectors need to synchronized their future goals

The Relationship Of Duddy Kravitz
In the novel, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz written by Mordecai Richler, we meet Duddy
Kravitz, a young entrepreneur who is trying to become successful, as any other business man would.
Throughout the novel Duddy meets numerous different people who are either business partners or
people he believes he can get advice from to allow Duddy to gain wealth. Duddy is a well known
culprit of being a person who only looks out for himself in his business relationships. Other people he
meets have the same intentions as him, advance their businesses or aspirations, while using Duddy as
someone who can help them, but their only goal is to make themselves better. Duddy meets a man

figuratively fight to make their way to the top, there were no middle class jobs . It is also very easy to
point towards times when Duddy acted selfish, which is why there is no reason for anyone to believe
that Duddy is successful just because of the people around him. With this being said, there is no
reason to judge anyone for making a reasonable selfish decision in this novel, if it will allow them to

The Damsel In Distress Trope
In the mini series of three twenty three to twenty six minute episodes, Anita Sarkeesian explains in
full, attentive detailing, the tropes embedded in video games since the very beginning of the Video
Game era. The mini series uses a systemic, big picture outlook to ultimately examine the plots and
designs in video games to explain why women have always been objectified in video games. The most
well known way the female character is objectified is through a video game is by placing her in a
Damsel in Distress position, woman in the refrigerator position, or any other position that creates a
trope. In the mini series description, Sarkeesian also states that even though critical analysis of the

the Damsel, he can free himself for the sake of his heroic Sarkeesian believes this is a problem

this works because the disempowerment of the female is traded to empower the

What s Surprising In The Wizard Of Oz
In 1939, Kansan teenager Dorothy Gale (portrayed by Judy Garland) decides to run away from home
to protect her little dog, Toto, from her heinous neighbor, Almira Gulch. Before getting very far,
Dorothy sees the error in her ways and attempts to return home before being swept into a strange
world of colorful characters by a tornado. Realizing that there is only one way to return home, she sets
off with a group of her newfound friends on the adventure of a lifetime.
Considered to be the most popular films of all time, the incredible tale of Dorothy must be historic for
many reasons. One of the most distinct reasons for the popularity of this film is the director Victor
Fleming s use of film. The movie as a whole was shot in two different films: ... Show more content on

One societal theme that this film emphasizes is the insufficiency of adulthood. While most of us like
to believe that becoming an adult gives us all the answers, it doesn t. Even in adulthood, many of us
fail tot live up to the expectations of others and ourselves. Many adults are just as powerless as they
were in their childhood. Take Auntie Em as an example. She can t do anything to prevent Toto from
being taken away. While Dorothy can t comprehend how she d let Toto be sent to slaughter, Auntie
Em knows she doesn t have the power to protect him. As an adult, she realized she had to follow the
rules of society. This happens again later on at the most crucial moment of the film. After defeating the
Wicked Witch, we see that the great Wizard of Oz is a charlatan and just as helpless as teenaged
Dorothy. These episodes speak to the fallibility of grown ups in real life. While society tells us that
wisdom comes with age, we are often times just as naïve as our childhood

CASE 44 National Office Machines Motivating
Japanese Salespeople: Straight Salary or Commission?
National Office Machines of Dayton, Ohio, manufacturer of cash registers, electronic data processing
equipment, adding machines, and other small office equipment, recently entered into a joint venture
with Nippon Cash Machines of Tokyo, Japan. Last year,
National Office Machines (NOM) had domestic sales of over $1.4 billion and foreign sales of nearly
$700 million. In addition to the
United States, it operates in most of western Europe, the Mideast, and some parts of the Far East. In
the past, it had no significant sales or sales force in Japan, though the company was represented there

The tradition of spending a lifetime with a single employer survives today mainly because most
workers like it that way. The very foundations of Japan s management system are based on lifetime
employment, promotion through seniority, and single company unions. There is little chance of being
fired, pay raises are regular, and there is a strict order of job protecting seniority.
Japanese workers at larger companies still are protected from outright dismissal by union contracts
and an industrial tradition that some personnel specialists believe has the force of law. Under this
tradition, a worker can be dismissed after an initial trial period only for gross cause, such as theft or
some other major infraction.
As long as the company remains in business, the worker isn t discharged, or even furloughed, simply
because there isn t enough work to be done.
Besides the guarantee of employment for life, the typical Japanese worker receives many fringe
benefits from the company.
Bank loans and mortgages are granted to lifetime employees on the assumption that they will never
lose their jobs and therefore the ability to repay. Just how paternalistic the typical Japanese firm can be
is illustrated by a statement from the Japanese Ministry of
Foreign Affairs that gives the example of A, a male worker who is employed in a fairly representative
company in Tokyo.
To begin with, A lives in a house provided by his company, and the rent he pays is amazingly low

Personal Narrative Writing
Narrative writing retells an experience that has been life changing in some way. That means that the
subject can be a moment in which you learned something about yourself, about life, or had something
frightening happen to you that has changed your point of view. In the sample essays provided, I read
about experiences with racism, police brutality, and domestic violence.
In Rebecca Goldsmith s essay, Where Does It End? she describes a personal experience in which she
notices her grandmother s racial bias. I related to her writing because I have noticed members of my
family making racist remarks. When I visit my grandfather for holidays, he will ask me about how I
am doing and if I am in a relationship. When I reply, Yes, Grandpa. I have

Research Paper On William Carey India
William Carey spent his years as a missionary in the country of India, arriving first in Calcutta, then
relocating to Serampore. Over 100 years before Carey stepped foot on the ground of India, Job
Charnok chose the place of Calcutta, India to be a place for a British trade settlement. Job Charnok
was an agent of the East India Company. He spent a plethora of time searching for the best place for
the site. This site was the perfect spot because it was protected by the Hooghly River on the west side,
a creek to the north, and two and a half miles to the east there were salt lakes. There were also three
large villages that were also owned by the British. The emperor of India at that time granted the
company freedom of trade if they paid them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1800, Carey started the Serampore Mission Press. This press was a huge accomplishment in his life.
He was then able to use this press to publish the Bengali prose, as well as print countless Bibles in
multiple different languages for the people of India. This included the Bengali translation of the Bible,
which Carey reformed from its fallen state into the most prominent language of the region. He was
then able to use this Bible that he published in order to spread the gospel even farther into the crevices
of India. This was not the only translation that the Mission Press was able to publish. Between 1801
and 1832 the press printed 212,000 copies of books in 40 different languages. Even though that was a
huge accomplishment, it was seen as a passive role in the culture. Only people of higher standards of
living like landlords and businessmen, were able to seize the opportunity for higher education for their
children. They sent their children to the schools of the missionaries. On the other side of the spectrum,
people from the lower classes were unable to send their children to those schools. They sent them to
the monitorial schools around them, which is basically provided a basic education for the students.
During this same time, the Serampore Mission Press bought out the English Daily, which was a
newspaper in that area.

Disadvantages Of Negotiation And Alternative Dispute...
Alternative dispute resolution is a procedure settling disputes without litigation by the assistant from
the 3rd party. This resolution include negotiation, arbitration, mediation and ombudsmen .The ADR
are increasingly being utilized in disputes that would otherwise result in litigation, including high
profile labour disputes, divorce actions, and personal injury claims.
Normally, it is very preferable as it is a very low cost and time save scheme for peoples and business
to resolve dispute. Furthermore, from the discussion later on, we will be able to find out that it is less
stressful and less formal than the court proceeding. The procedure encourage the cooperation between
parties in managing the cases unlike adversarial litigation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A common example is settlement discussions between solicitors. More than nine out of ten legal
claims are settled without needing a trial.
Unlike mediation and conciliation, the person who represent you may not be independent, they react
aggressively on your behalf and even suggest solution and opinion.
Advantages of negotiation
Negotiation share a lot of advantages of mediation and conciliation such as lower cost and less
formality.
Besides that, negotiation use mechanisms such as objective standard and focusing on parties mutual
interest and needs. The outcome is normally can be referred to win win situation unlike the adversarial
winner and loser situation.
Furthermore, some dispute to be resolved may be highly sensitive in nature. Negotiation can be carry
out by the parties themselves without the existent of third party.
Disadvantages of negotiation
The negotiation sometime can worsen the situation. British leader Neville Chamberlain negotiated the
Munich Agreement of 1938 with Nazi Germany with the intention to prevent the world war two. The
world war two happened anyway. When you are trying to negotiate with someone who is
untrustworthy like Hitler, you may worsen the

Mary Shelly s Frankenstein And The Hidden Self
Knowledge is a distinct gift that is gained through the power of learning from mistakes, progress, and
experience, which is why knowledge is has been proven to be a push for mankind to create and learn
about new things each and every day. Without knowledge, people feel empty, and they feel that way
because they feel useless, and they feel useless because they don t know what to do, and this is what
leads me to believe that texts like Mary Shelly s Frankenstein or Pauline Hopkins of One Blood: or the
Hidden Self can portray, knowledge. They can portray the importance in knowledge because these text

sexuality of a person or thing. Another great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows how in Frankenstein a male monster can come to learn things in a much more natural way,
and that he isn t required to be taught like a normal human being would. Moreover, it is also very
important to point out that even though no female monster was created in the end, she would have
been capable of learning everything like the male monster, because in the end knowledge is just a
form of dedication.
To further extend on the book Frankenstein, Shelley it states, My days were spent in close attention,
that I might master the language (128). Further concluding my idea that the monster wants to learn
and by learning or gaining knowledge the monster is becoming more aware of the roles that his own
gender play, thus leading us to later on read that he is demanding a wife to fulfill his roles in the world
just like every other average male would do with a wife. Another great example can be when
Frankenstein was requesting a female companion. In the book it states, You must create a female for
me, with whom I can live in the interchange of those sympathies necessary for my being. This is
important because it shows the role of gender in this book meaning that Frankenstein knows that he
needs a female companion to accompany him in order not to feel lonely in this world of his which is
why he demands a female companion like the average human would. Knowledge in the book of
Frankenstein was used in two ways, to obtain his role back into society with

The Effect Of Coffee Rust Essay
Also, recent low prices have restrained investment, which in turn leads to poor management practices
and strategies. In some cases, old trees have yet to be replaced, and pruning and care regimens are
neglected or performed poorly due to lack of labor (Magrath 2014). The lack of investment is
important for both finance and education. Smaller farmers often do not have enough money to gain
access to resources that could help in instructing them how to use the land and regenerate their crops
(Wakefield 2015).
A few promising solutions exist for mitigating the effects of coffee rust. A few of them include
government support, management options, improved technology and information sharing systems, and
changing social perceptions of coffee.
One possible way to indirectly prevent coffee rust from spreading to epidemic levels is for the
government to provide some support to farmers. Government subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, and
pesticides have the potential to help farmers cope with the investment difficulties they currently face
(Stone 2014).
There is some debate over whether full sun or shade coffee provides more protection against coffee
rust. Rust is easier to control on plants in full sun, as most of the time the coffee planted in full sun are
large plantations that are spaced farther apart. This allows for easier application of fungicides. Farther
spacing also allows for wind to blow within and throughout the coffee plants, drying them and
preventing free standing water

The Grandmother In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
O Connor s succeeds to bring out his arguments in this short story to sum up the feeling that in today s
world, societal morals and values have drastically crumbled making the world an inhabitable place.
INTRODUCTION
The author presents his main theme of fate by bringing the reader to a family s holiday which is
unfortunately brought to a sudden end by a murder (O Connor 36). The grandmother argues that the
family should go to Tennessee instead of Florida. Her insistence makes the family to deviate from the
right path in an attempt to look for a fake treasure. The rebelliousness the family exhibits is a sign of
moral decadence. The grandmother s decision makes the family appear like it admires the Misfit. At

situation where she tries to give answers to her conscience by frustratingly assuming that Misfit is not
a bad person. Misfit on the other hand insists that indeed he is a bad person (O Connor 36). Misfit
compares himself to Jesus where he says that Jesus suffered for other people s sins just the same way
he got punished for mistakes he never did. The theme that a good man is hard to find undoubtedly
refers to Jesus. This is because Misfit tries to compare himself to Jesus but he finally commits a
murder. The old woman s shaky faith in Jesus is over. By Jesus not delivering her shows that indeed a

Explicit knowledge is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowledge sharing is of vital importance for the success of organizations. So in order to successfully share both types of knowledge, tacit knowledge must be articulated. With the advantage of Web 2.0 technologies, organizations are able to achieve this objective. The use of Web 2.0 technologies in organizations has introduced innovative ways of collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing. The result of which is a more productive and engaged workforce. The term Web 2.0 is controversial, but plainly used to describe a new wave of Internet technologies that allows users to do more than just access information online. (Gardner, n.d.) Blogs, wikis and social media technologies are examples of the Web 2.0 applications that businesses can use. • 5. Feeding American Food Bank Essay Have you ever donated food to a local food bank? If you haven t or don t know what a food bank is, I am hoping that you will by the end of this paper. Did you know food banks have their own type of a free market? While reading this article, Sending potatoes to Idaho, I discovered many interesting facts about food banks that I didn t know. I have learned what a free market is and how foodbanks have been able to apply this economic principle to run more efficiently. Before 2005, Feeding America food banks would just keep what was donated to them or new donations went to the food banks that had been waiting for a long time. This method of collecting and distributing food seemed to work, but they didn t consider what certain food banks needed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are also able to barter items. Bartering is when someone trades goods or services that they have for goods or services they need. By bartering, then can negotiate equal values of goods or services to trade. For example, if a food bank has extra canned goods, they can barter with another food bank that has excess fresh produce. There are food banks all over the United States, and they each can grow or specialize in different things. This variety is critical to the free market system being used by the food banks. This way everyone sort of shares what they have, and it gets distributed equally. Feeding America started its own market and they made their own type of currency. Making your own currency is difficult because there are many factors that you must consider. How are they supposed to decide who gets how much, or how do they make it so the prices can fluctuate and have the price level remain somewhat stable? Switching over to a free market system came with a lot of those questions, but for the most part everyone seems to like the system. They have had no major problems with the new ... • 6. Persuasive Speech On Racism I haven t had a good rant in a while, and now seems to be a perfectly good time for one. I don t think in his heart, Trump is a racist he might be a misogynist but not a true racist. I do think his was, and is, unprepared for the rigors of being the President of the United States of America. I also believe he is a coward because speak out against inequity but fuels the fire with Building Walls and now the repeal of DACA. I just taught a class today, 95 percent Hispanic, and many of these students use DACA to get an education and stay in this country. I have talked to many of these students, and not one of them came over on their own when they were one or two years of age, but all came here with the parents who were fleeing economic degradation in Mexico NAFTA to find a better life. They, and their families, work and pay taxes, buy goods, support our local economy, want to get an education, and want to become citizens, but the process is too expensive, and time consuming. They are just as American as you and me. I had a student, who was undocumented, came over when he was one, but didn t qualify for the Dream Act, so he worked, and put himself through Community College two classes at a time. I asked him why he doesn t become a citizen (I had just started moved to California, so this was all new to me). He said he wanted too, but the only way he could do so was to go back to Mexico for ten years. My family left because of the cartels, he said in tears, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Isaac Newton Isaac Newton. One of the major flaws with the Copernican system manifested with the retainment of perfect circular orbits, as theorized by Ptolemy, and even with the removal of the equant, Copernicus still had to use some epicycles to explain retrograde. This still left many issues, because this very unnatural movement didn t make it that much less clunky than Ptolemy s system. Johannes Kepler, with his first law of planetary motion, provided a solution for this issue. He theorized that planets actually move in an elliptic orbit, with the sun not necessarily at the very center of the ellipse. When taken in account with Copernicus idea of the Earth s rotation, this got rid of the need for epicycles, and provided a much smoother system. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the heliocentric system driven by Copernicus disproved the ideas of two, powerful, and at the time, most valid sources, the Ancient world and the Catholic Church. This opened up questioning and curiosity of many other aspects of humanity in the centuries that followed, and in parallel to this the rejection of the theological idea that man has dominance in the universe (SECOND GALE SOURCE). This curiosity led to so many great discoveries across the course of the entire revolution, from chemistry, to calculus, and even biology. Even though heliocentrism occurred as an astronomical endeavor, it by itself influenced the development so many ideas not just used in astronomy. Newton s laws of physics would never have been possible if not for the heliocentric system to back it up, and in fact, nearly all of Kepler s, Newton s, and Galileo s work described above built on Copernicus ideas. It can also be said that the development of heliocentrism gave rise to modern scientific method. The mathematical and rigorous approaches to proof all used by Newton, Galileo, and Copernicus set a bar of quality differed greatly from the very assumptive and proofless explanations for many phenomena, many set by the Church or the Bible. The idea of developing an idea slowly, over the course of many people s lives, while using mathematical proofs is essentially the process that occurs today when developing important ... Each change has paved a new path for more significant approaches and strategies, which cater to diverse learners allowing them to create meaning and communicate more effectively. These literacy pedagogies brought out by the changes in education have both strengths and weaknesses. As such, educators need to explore and understand the four knowledge processes portrayed by Kalantzis, Cope, Chan and Dalley Trim; didactic, authentic, functional, and critical literacy approach (2016), to be able to consider how they can influence teaching and learning so they are able to make informed decisions with regards to their students literacy learning. Teaching is becoming increasingly complex; this is particularly evident in the area of literacy. This paper will explore the four literacy pedagogies, their limitations and their strengths, and how they have impacted literacy learning within the Australian educational context. During the 19th century, didactic literacy pedagogy was the first pedagogy to become prominent subsequent to the mass obligatory, institutionalised education (Kalantzis et al., 2016, p.84). This approach was widely seen during the Victorian era where education was seen to be teacher centered; according to Watkins (1999), this approach can also be seen in Australian education during the 1970s and 1980s. • 13. The Allegory Of Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler Sophie Carr Western Civ November 22, 2015 The Allegory of Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler The decline of the Weimar Republic marked a time of great concern over how post war Germany would shed its authoritarian past and reinvent itself. Feasibly, no other film from this era could so adeptly capture the history of immediate postwar Germany than Fritz Lang s Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler. Fritz Lang s melodramatic tale of an elusive and depraved gambler, or player as it s literally translated, is actually an allegory for a corrupt and economically unstable Germany that would soon give rise to fascism. Though Lang, a fervent anti fascist, would find great success in cinematically portraying despotism in his cult classic Metropolis (1927), Dr. Mabuse, The Gambler was the film that was the more directly connected to a recovering Germany. Dr. Mabuse is an allegory for the political and economic strife that took hold Weimar Germany. The film is of a man who plays a slick gambler, an esteemed physician, and a magician. He s a player in most, if not all, senses of the word. Dr. Mabuse s character is also described as being literally hypnotic, He [Lang] shows individuals being transformed into a state of total submission as well as a whole audience succumbing to an exercise in mass suggestion. 1 Only the state prosecutor, Norbert von Wenk, is capable of resisting Mabuse s powers, but Mabuse s striking supernatural powers and his loyal gang of felons thwart his investigation. ... He carried on with the idea of eating his flesh by stating: Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you shall not have life within you. In some cases, old trees have yet to be replaced, and pruning and care regimens are neglected or performed poorly due to lack of labor (Magrath 2014). The lack of investment is important for both finance and education. Smaller farmers often do not have enough money to gain access to resources that could help in instructing them how to use the land and regenerate their crops (Wakefield 2015). A few promising solutions exist for mitigating the effects of coffee rust. A few of them include government support, management options, improved technology and information sharing systems, and changing social perceptions of coffee. One possible way to indirectly prevent coffee rust from spreading to epidemic levels is for the government to provide some support to farmers. Government subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides have the potential to help farmers cope with the investment difficulties they currently face (Stone 2014). There is some debate over whether full sun or shade coffee provides more protection against coffee rust. Rust is easier to control on plants in full sun, as most of the time the coffee planted in full sun are large plantations that are spaced farther apart. This allows for easier application of fungicides. Farther spacing also allows for wind to blow within and throughout the coffee plants, drying them and preventing free standing water ...
