Total Quality Management throughout its organization. Since AT T is an elaborately enormous
corporation I will focus my study to AT T Power Systems/Lucent Technologies. This division of

its use of TQM. I will provide a brief description of who AT T Power Systems is, a description of

A.M. (Andy) Guarriello, Vice President COO of Power Systems, was given the job of
implementing TQM. Guarriello along with Power Systems management team launched the Dallas
Vision project, an initiative involving physical, organizational, and philosophical changes that soon
led to the adoption of Total Quality Management as the management system for the future. Power
Systems consolidated several of its locations into several small internal business units. These units
would become to foundation that Power Systems operated on. Each units is given the resources to
develop, engineer, manufacture, and its products. Functions such as human resources, finance,
marketing, and sales are provided by smaller organizations developed to support the internal units.
Power Systems Dallas unit was completely redesigned. This 900,000 square foot facility was
rearranged into what AT T calls focused factories. Each focused factory has the capability to accept
incoming material, manufacture, and ship finished products. This layout was designed much within
the guidelines of the Japanese JIT system. Power Systems took the Japanese approach to TQM and
modified to fit the AT T culture. The TQM criteria developed within Power Systems were selected

Summary Of Rabindranath Tagore And Sri Aurobindo
Rabindranath Tagore and Sri Aurobindo are the first Indian dramatists in English worth
considering. Tagore wrote primarily in Bengali but almost all his Bengali plays are now available
to us in English renderings. His important plays are Chitra, The Post Office, Sacrifice, Red
Oleanders, Chandalika, Mukta Dhara and Natir Puja. The plays are firmly rooted in Indian ethos
and present an unusually original dramatic vision. As Jain puts it: In these plays, there is an
attempt to capture and present basic contradictions of life in a bigger perspective and with
contemporary relevance; there is also a bold and creative experiment to synthesize some of the
techniques and dramatic usages of the Sanskrit theatre and the traditional modes like the... Show

Miracles play a very important part of these plays and unless the reader comes to them with a
willing suspension of disbelief, the plays will not make sense to them. More than being a writer
of spiritual aspect of human life, the playwright is known for his plays depicting social realism.
The country in the 1930s, as has already been talked about, was surging with the spirit of
nationalism and constant attempts were made to edify the ills of the society. As Iyengar says of
the Five Plays, [It] contains some of his characteristic work as a playwright revealing his social
consciousness, flair for realism, and the bite in his prose writing (233). His play, The Window,
gives a pathetic account of the condition of the slum life of workers in a factory and ends with
the workers protesting against the owners. The Parrot too deals with the life of the poor, while
in The Coffin, the theme is that of schism between the imaginary world and the world of harsh
reality. The importance of edifying in the real world instead of delving into the imaginary world
is reiterated through the play. The Sentry s Lantern is a symbolic display of the arrival of better
times; a revolution, which will benefit the poor and the downtrodden and which will usher in an
era of communism. The Evening Lamp, too talks about a revolution, which will usher in a glorious
era. In his works, it is clearly

Essay on The Concerto
The Concerto
Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the
Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra
with three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical
concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in
context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define.
The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually
dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the
late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on

By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of
growth and progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of
concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo
instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section,
two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti
grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms:
the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The
concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro
movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were
occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. The sonata de
camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in the same key. Its
structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow movement and an
energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da camera
composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera

Grueber s Report
Grueber should report to the CFO about the issues affecting Steelcase. The reason for this report is
to give management a new perspective of its own performance. The report could also serve to make
them aware of the impact of their breakdown in communication to analysts or investors, which
resulted in the company losing credibility. In other words, the communication breakdown that
Steelcase experienced was a result of managements failure to provide transparent, insight into
decision making at the company or strategic direction of the company (Argenti, 2013).
Some resources Grueber should ask for are the outside consultants that performed a perception

The Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster And Its Effects On The World
On April 26th, 1986, at 1:23 A.M., the world s worst nuclear disaster to date occurred. It has
affected millions of people in Eastern Europe, and it has caused more than 360,000 people to
evacuate their homes and leave their belongings behind. It has also set a dangerous precedent to
the safety and operating procedures of other nuclear power plants around the world. Thirty years
later, people in Eastern Europe are still feeling the effects of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The causes, the effects on animals and the environment, and the effects on humans of the
Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster are still being debated by scientists today. The causes of the
Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster involve the analysis of views, design deficiencies, operator errors,
and the cleanup of the disaster. When the accident happened, there were many different views
and ideas of what happened. One idea was that there was damage to the cooling system, and too
much pressure built up in the shell of the reactor, causing the hydrogen that was leaving and the
air that coming in to mix and cause the explosion ( Causes and Impact 18). The other view on the
accident, was human error due to tests and experiments ( Causes and Impact 18). It was
determined that it was the operator s errors and the design of the reactor, which had a safety
features, which caused the disaster ( Causes and Impact 17). The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
used a different design compared to other nuclear plants around the world.

Reflection On The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
Through the examples of Oedipus and Socrates, the saying the unexamined life is not worth
living proves true in three ways: first, to live a life full of discovery is a direct calling from God;
second, an examined life leads to humbleness; and lastly, a life spent in investigation will
constantly be in pursuit of truth. A vital motive for pursuing an examined lifestyle is if a
command to do so comes from the higher power one believes in. From a Christian perspective
God rules as the higher power; however, from Socrates outlook the Greek gods dominated as the
higher power. From a Christian standpoint it is clearly a command from God to live an examined
life. Psalm 111:2 states Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who... Show more content on

Just as Socrates promptly gratified the wish of his god, humanity should be striving to fulfill the
wishes of our omnipotent Creator. In both the Apology and Oedipus a key comparable quality is
the humility shown by both Socrates and Oedipus. The humility they display originates from
their discovery of the depravity of humanity. In Socrates case, he first discerned the nature of
man when he began his quest of finding true wisdom. He found that the men he thought to be
truly wise, appeared wise to many people, and especially to himself, but he was not (Plato 26).
Socrates stumbled on the vice that fells much of humanity: pride. As Socrates continued to
pursue his search for wisdom, time and time again he was disappointed by those he formerly
thought had the highest reputation because they were nearly the most deficient (Plato 26). After
unearthing this truth Socrates had two paths he could journey down. The first would be one of
pride in himself, for indeed he did discover that he had more wisdom than most. The second path
was one of humility in that he realized that just like everyone else, he was fallible and his wisdom
could err. He chose the second path, and by doing so he became the wiser. For then he discovered
the the oracle sent to him by Apollo was sent for him to ascertain that This man among you, mortals,
is wisest who, like Socrates, understands that his wisdom is

A showy and occasionally inappropriate woman, Big Mama is just like Maggie in that both are
married to men who cannot stand them. Big Mama is openly devoted to her husband, and
throughout their whole marriage, she has stood by him. Despite Big Daddy s frequent insults,
Big Mama refuses to become offended and does not allow the marriage to fall apart. The
difference between Maggie and Big Mama is that although Big Mama has a very hard marriage,
she has had children and served her husband well. A good wifes role was to serve her husband s
comfort and know her place. The man was the master of the house, and therefore it was
inappropriate for the woman to complain to her husband and talk about her problems. Listening to
the man was important because his conversation topics were the most important. A problem
Maggie has is that although she wants to be an ideal wife and mother, she does not carry out all
parts of the expectation. She is stubborn and against to taking into account what Brick wants, and
she continuously complains and fights with him. Big Mama on the other hand is a piteous
character in that she is so desperate to stay away from problems and argument that she embarrasses
herself in order to avoid them. This is why, although Maggie and Big Mama share

Syria Case Study
For almost a decade Syria has not enjoyed peace. The war in Syria has polarized countries in the
Middle East, Europe and the America. The war has led to countries taking sides depending on the
interests of their leaders and the country as a whole. In the process countries from Europe,
America and Asia have entered into a union that they deem fit to promote their agendas (G.
Friedman 2017). This union is what is now known as the axis 1 geopolitics. Even though the
countries may have different individual agendas they have common goals as a group. Their
obligations as a group, are considered to outweigh the personal goals. Moreover, the individual
goals can be achieved through achieving the group goals (G. Friedman 2017).

the neo colonialization practiced by the United States of America. They hate the fact that the
United States has imposed itself as the leader and savior of the whole world. To balance the
power, China and Russia have continuously used their veto power to shut down United States
initiatives, such as embargos and trade banns on their allies (T. Friedman 2017). Russia and
China seek to move away from the shadow of the so called big brother. In doing so they have

the Russian apex bank has stopped including the dollar in its forex trading (G. Friedman 2017).
The union is angered by the United States behavior of being the judge and executioner in their
human and democracy issues. They are against the toppling of governments as these lead to

The Reflection Of Human Nature, By Seamus Heaney
Firstly, Heaney uses the structure of the poem to tell us about human nature. For example, the
slow, familiar rhythm of the iambic pentameter creates a reflective tone where the voice in the
poem looks back at the lessons learnt in the past. This shows how we glamorize the past even
our bad experience so we can learn from them. The two uneven stanzas with gently half rhyming
couplets add a softness and a musical lilt without imposing too much rigidity. This also reflects
the romantic memory and romanticised view of nature that we apply on our past experience
however gruesome. Plus, by using lists and multiple points of enjambment Heaney give the poem
a childlike and excited tone. This conveys the image not only of children and their views on the
world but how we look into the past and become children again recalling the events that faced our
young selves. Finally the long first stanza filled with the collection of the good, ripe fruit is
destroyed quickly from the short, second stanza full of rot and decay. I believe that this suggest that
however much we we gather and hoard our wealth will always deteriorate, often though death. This
emphasise how horrible the human nature of hoarding is, as it will always end in hardship.
Heaney also describes human nature though caesuras which are scattered throughout the poem.
For example,a caesura at the end of lust for picking makes the reader linger on the word picking
, stressing the action. This conveys the message that It is not the blackberries but the activity
that they lust after. This first caesura of joy and happiness is then juxtaposed by the next cesura
Like a plate of eyes. . This is a disconcerting image that matches the earlier images of flesh and
clots. It is also as if they are staring at him accusing him of hoarding all the fruit that he won t be
able to eat, plus the fact that he wrote it shows he is remorseful for his greed. The contrast between
these two caesuras suggests the message that it is human nature that our greed will always take
over the joy of the activity.
The seven deadly sins are scattered throughout the poem and helps Heaney describe human nature.
Firstly, Heaney say that after we pick the fruit we hoarded them in the barn.

Ernest Hemingway and Masculinity Essay
Ernest Hemingway and Masculinity
Ernest Hemingway, viewed as an American hero of his time, wrote novels that enrich the minds of
his readers, creating a lasting image that goes far beyond the actual content of the story. But while
reading Hemingway, I learned that his style was far from complex. Through pre meditated sentence
structure, he creates a rhythm that parallels the action in the story. He wants the sentences
themselves to be easy to understand, so the reader can use more energy focusing on the symbolism
Hemingway s stories create. He skillfully places symbols and metaphors throughout his novels. In

He compares sexually ability as a part of the masculine man. By having his main character Jake
Barnes impotent, Hemingway depicts a loss of masculinity that is common throughout his novels.
He also contrasts men and women who hold onto their masculinity and men who lose it. Through
his metaphors Hemingway uses empathy to draw the reader closer to the characters as they feel for
their suffering.
War, usually thought of as a masculine fight for glory, is reversed in Hemingway s writings. Instead
of men showing their masculinity, he portrays a war that takes away men s masculinity through
injuries that deprive them the rest of their lives.
Truly, A Farewell to Arms and For Whom the Bell Tolls force the reader to question the need for
sacrificing a man s life for a war. Is war worth dying over? The reader should note Robert Jordan
s suicide mission in trying to make this decision for himself. Jordan understood that there was little
hope of survival, and he cringed at the thought of not getting to live out his life with his new love
Maria. But in the end, he takes the heroes path and blows up the bridge, which costs him his life.
Not only did Jordan s efforts go in vain, since the bridge was far behind enemy lines and didn t do
much damage to the movement of the Fascists, but Jordan s allies, the Spanish Republic, never
made the offensive. The tragic death of Jordan leaves the reader wondering,

Descriptive Essay About George Washington
The historic moment will forever be remembered when George Washington led the American

Edwin Sutherland s Hypothesis Of Differential Association
Edwin Sutherland s hypothesis of Differential Association advanced from the Chicago School of
human science, which watched that wrongdoing happened all the more as often as possible in
territories lacking social association and organizations of social control. Wrongdoing was
generally clarified by numerous variables , for example, social class, age, race, and urban or rustic
area. Sutherland built up his hypothesis of Differential Association keeping in mind the end goal to
clarify how these elements were identified with wrongdoing. It had been watched that once high

The more prominent ramifications of this suggestion is that it finds trust at the foundation of social

Emerson And Conformity
The well known essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, exerted his beliefs that conformity is something
that independent individuals should not participate in through out his essay of Self Reliance . The
Merriam Webster dictionary defines conformity as, behavior that is the same as the behavior of
most other people in a society, group, etc. ( Conformity ). Emerson s primary concern with
conformity was the overbearing control that society had on a free individual. I agree that we
should not change our morals and values if pressured from outside forces. However, society, even
though it is merely a concept created by the human brain, is something that holds a country together.
Without society, people would make everyday life very complicated and chaotic.The... Show more

Emerson is trying to explain here that each individual is responsible for accepting information.
Emerson would argue that no one can force any ideas in which you do not agree because they are
not sacred or viewed with accuracy by your own mind. However, when people disagree, they
should not have any feelings of remorse because to be individualistic, the person must outline
what he or she believes and stick to it. I agree with Emerson on the behalf of religious morals
because as a Christian, we are called to keep to our faith, Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep
your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result,
their faith has been shipwrecked (New Living Translation Bible Tim. 1.19). Here, the Bible is
showing that sticking to faith and having a Christian outlook on life is necessary. Without these
foundations in our walk with God then our faith in God will be skewed. So sticking to
something that we believe in is a depiction of Emerson s viewpoint. However, I have internal
conflict with Emerson on the basis of nothing is accepted but that in which we believe. The
influential David Meyers showed us that in group bias is basically the acceptance or support of
some group(s) (100). Meyers gives us a great example that not everything that we accept has to be
accepted by our own mind. There are in group biases in which all humans connect to even though
we are oblivious to them most of the time. For example, we might connect more with people of our
race because as a in group bias, those are the people we are around more often. This is not a racist
standpoint but rather an immediate connection with someone who we unknowingly think is similar
to us. Conformity is something that Emerson despises throughout his essay and it crucial to
understand why nonconformity is disliked in

Key Characters Of Transformation In Dracula By Bram Stoker
Analysis Essay #3 The book I have chosen to analyze from is Dracula by Bram Stoker. The
character from the book I am choosing to write about today is the main antagonist of the story,
Dracula. This story is told through a group of journals. The topic I have chosen to look at is
Dracula ability of transformation, and the key role it played in ability to pull off his charade.
Throughout this story Draculauses transformation into many different animal forms and mist to
help get close to and subdue his victims. Starting early in this story uses Draculas uses his ability to
take different forms to avoid being noticed in his journey to London. Dracula use of
transformation to escape the ship without being questioned or identified as the killer of the crew
of that ship he arrived on the Demeter. But, strangest of all, the very instant the shore was
touched, an immense dog sprang up on the deck from below... ... jumped from the bow on the
sand. Making straight for the steep cliffs... ...it disappeared into the darkness... No trace of the
dog was ever found of the great dog... Dracula s transformed appearance was noticed but he
escaped cleanly without any one being the wiser that the death of the crew was caused by him.

C17H19NO3 and it is recognized as a benzylisoquinoline alkaloid with two additional rings attached
to complete the overall structure.
As shown in Figure 2, morphine is a five member ring system that acts as a backbone for the
structure. This includes a benzene ring (A), two cyclohexane rings (B and C), the piperidine ring
(D), and tetrahydrofuran ring (E). It seems that due this type of configuration, the compound proved
to be slightly flexible because of the phenantherene ring system (A,B, and C)[6]. Furthermore,
several functional groups exist in the morphine structural configuration. For instance, the ether
linkage between C4 and C5, the 3o amine group adjacent to C16, hydroxyl groups located on C3

Evolution Of Physical Discipline In The United States
Ninety five percent of all toddlers in the United States have been physically disciplined at some
point in their short lives (Magnuson, Waldfogel, 2005). There exists a conflicting message from our
country s systems around how we protect and rear our children. Physical forms of discipline
including, hitting or slapping, spanking, hitting with an object, or other forms of physical contact

Forehand and McKinney (1993) believe that US families are still floating around in this ocean
of uncertainty around discipline today. Looking at this evolution more in depth, parents relied
heavily on religion to guide their attitudes and discipline behaviors in the 1700 s. As God fearing
Puritans, it was paramount that children honored and obeyed their parents so as not to face the
wrath of god and be sent to Hell. In defense of their children s mortal souls, parents and
communities utilized severe forms of physical discipline to modify behavior and punish
children. The beatings were often done in the center of town for all to see and children were
forced to divulge their negative behaviors and be publicly shamed. As many of the church s
teachings were geared toward obedience, this kind of extreme physical punishment was not only
accepted but expected. Physical discipline was mainly carried out by the father of the household
(Forehand, McKinney, 1993). People are creatures of their environment. Children were seen as
inherently evil and full of sin and so there were no agencies set up to study the development of
children or advocate for their rights. The beatings and public humiliation were seen as an act of
love and spiritual protection on the part of the parents. Perhaps the model of separating church and
state played a role in the dividing of the cultures and increase in child

The Affordability Problem Of Washington State
The affordability problem is across all states and largely affects the working wage earners and
below.(Housing Needs Assessment, 2015 booklet page 297) This is because throughout the nation
there is a large differences between minimum wage, housing wage, and the affordable units
available. As noted earlier in the essay, King County is experiencing a huge affordable housing
Crisis. The 2015 Housing Needs Assessment indicated that there are only 28 affordable units for
every 100 extremely cost burden families. WashingtonState is short in 166,058 affordable units,
2015. With Seattle economy and populations growing each year these affordable units are necessary
to maintain the working class.
In many states such as Washington, the housing wage is twice as much as the minimum wage per

353,472 households that are severely cost burdened creating a large gap between the 100,098

priced two bedroom apartment in Washington, an individual needs to work 115 hours a month
with a minimum wage $ 9.47 to pay the average rent of $1089 per month. (Housing Development,
2015 page 2015) The difference between minimum wage and housing wage is even more distinct
in King County and Seattle. King County minimum wage is $11 per hour with a housing wage of

Video Time Is Good Or Bad For Kids
With so much technological activity, some wonder if the screen time is good or bad for kids.
According to Oxford Dictionaries, screen time is the Time spent using a device such as a
computer, television, or games console. Many advocate and promote that if used properly, the
prolonged use of digital media is a means for children to develop and interact more quickly in
today s age. However, some parents have been concerned that too much technologyusage may in
fact interfere with children s development. While the two opposing sides have differing opinions
on how screen time affects children, both sides agree on doing whatever is best for the better
development of children and adolescents.
In an era like the twenty first century, it is not unusual for children all over America to be
exposed to technology. The Pew Research Center released the Teens, Social Media, Technology
Overview 2015, which determined that eighty seven percent of adolescents have access to a
computer and fifty eight percent have access to a tablet (Lenhart). In addition, the research center
also reported that ninety two percent of adolescents reported daily internet use. Before, children
were playing outside with friends for fun, and socializing with their friends and family in person.
Today, kids play and interact through laptops, tablets, and other media devices. Technology has
become a part of most children and adolescent s everyday life, through the way they interact with
the world.

Essay on Cuban Revolution
Almost every nation in the world has experienced a revolution. A revolution can be simply defined
as a change. When a country undergoes a revolution, its ideals that it once believed in are being
modified. Sometimes revolutionaries act intellectually, yet others may respond physically through
destruction. Some may be peaceful, some short lasting, and some pointless. Historians do argue on
identifying whether a revolution has occurred. Revolutions usually follow a rupture in the nation s

and a gold cape around his neck with a black magician hat and gold gloves. The uniform explains
that he is going to school and his interests are magic tricks.
The lighting being used is side lighting. There s a brighter side to the room that reflects on one
side of the characters faces. The lighting helps explain that they are in dark times in their lives. It
helps the audience see how Amelia s sleep deprived that is shown earlier throughout the movie
that she couldn t wake up after her alarm rung. She struggled to get out of her bed and she put the
alarm on snooze. The frame composition is tight framing that reflects a mother and her son
hugging her, but how uncomfortable the moment is. Furthermore, the position of the camera is a
high angle shot from the Samuel s perspective looking down at his mother and Amelia s
perspective is eye level when the camera looks at her. It shows that Samuel is standing up and his

Boeing History
William Boeing bought his first plane and taught himself how to fly in the early 1900 s and as
soon as he left the ground crashed his seaplane and nearly destroyed it. Once he destroyed the
plane he started to realize that because it would take so long for him to get the necessary parts to
make his plane airworthy again he could build his own custom plane in a shorter amount of time.
The fascination with seaplanes directed him toward building his own seaplane with his friend G.C.
Westervelt in their hanger on Lake Union in Seattle. World War I
might have been the reason why
Boeingexists today because once the U.S. Navy received word of the B W Seaplane they ordered
50 of them and Boeing AirlineCompany was born. The vision of Boeing was to not just stop at
seaplanes and once World War II started they saw the demand for fighter planes and began to
make the P 12. This made Boeing the leading manufactuer of fighters over the next decade. In
1928 Boeing designed the Boeing 80 which was their first plane with one intention, to fly 12
passengers commercially as a airline. The main issue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Boeing s stock returned more than $26 billion dollars worth to its shareholders and has been on a

commercial market for Boeing is growing with the new improvements made to their commercial
passenger jet line of planes. They have also executed more than 15 succesful production rate
imcrasees since 2010. Not only did the commercial side of the company grow but the defense side
has grown and improved substancially. Since 2010, the military aircraft and satilites division has
grown over 57% and has continued to rise with the recent launch of their remote satilite which can

Electronic Patient Care Records (EPCR)
Not so in healthcare or public safety. Especially during emergencies, if a product fails to work as
intended or to work at all it can mean lost productivity, mountainous legal fees, brain death, or loss
of life, limb and property.
Healthcare IT offers outsized benefits to Emergency Response teams, which depend on speed,
ease of training and use, data accuracy, and interoperability. But the stakes of failure or disruption
are so high that one can say there are few areas of development with a more desperate need for
criticism.
And criticism there has been! Few complaints garner broader consensus among Fire and EMS
practitioners than that leading manufacturers of electronic patient care records ( ePCR ) have
abysmally neglected UX and design considerations. Agencies and their patients pay the price
through decreased productivity and even lost records. As Tom Bouthillet, a fire captain, paramedic,
and widely published Fire EMS technology expert wrote in an instructional op ed: ... Show more

everyone except the one person it should be serving the patient. A dozen things can go wrong when

Racial Bias In The Blind Side
The Blind Side is based on the incredible true story of Michael Oher (a current NFL player). It s a
story of hard knocks and always persevering. To fight for another day and to hope something
better is around the bend. As Oher did exactly that as he was determined and found a better
future. Through racial bias and other trying times in his life. The Movie Begins with a voice
over by Leigh Anne Tuohy who later in the movie adopts Michael. The movie starts with a clip
from a football game being played between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants.
The clip shows how the redskins left tackle fails to protect their right handed quarter backs blind
side and the quarter backs leg is broken on the play. Hence the name of the movie as... Show more

So Leigh Anne looks to find Oher s mom to ask her permission to adopt mike even though he is
a ward of the state and so she doesn t have to ask permission. Leigh Anne tracks down Oher s
mom at an apartment complex in hurt village. The scene is set so that the camera is facing out
from a dark hallway into a sunny day that is shining on Leigh Anne and it gives the effect that she
is walking from the light into the darkness. When Leigh Anne finds the apartment it is very dark
with what appears to be wine bottles and other things sitting around the room. Giving off the sense
that Oher s biological mother is a drunk. After this scene the Tuohy s legally adopt Michael Oher.
This is a lot like Chris Beam s article From to The End of June: The Intimate Life of American
Foster Care talks about teenage adoption and in the articles case it follows a girl who gets
adopted and eventually runs away from her adopted family. Which Oher s biological mother
warns of as she says he s a runner, don t be surprised if one day you wake up and he s gone .
Oher s adoption does not end in shambles as the one in Chris Beam s article. As in the article a
teenage girl is adopted by a husband and wife. In the story the girl didn t like the living situation
and tried to get the husband in trouble. Claiming that the husband had abused her, she eventually
ran away once she was of age. This is a totally different story from the blind side. As the blind side
is a story of success of teenage

Intensely provocative experiences of transitions are often challenging and difficult, they offer
individuals opportunities to change, but also can become stifling and hostile. However, overcoming

Lake Forsyth Case Study
Identification of impacting activities on Lake Forsyth
Lake Forsyth has undergone major natural and anthropogenic changes since European settlement
(3). Following the arrival of European settlers during the 1830s deforestation occurred on a large
scale. Prior to this Lake Forsyth would have been surrounded by Podocarp and Conifer hardwood
forests. The ridges and peaks would have been covered with low scrub and tussock. These changes
have increased nutrient inputs above what would have occurred naturally.
Basaltic soils of the Lake Forsyth catchment are naturally high in inorganic phosphorus and removal
of forest has caused an increase in sediment entering the system than would have naturally.
The increased erosion caused the formation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The aim of this research project was to gather information on the inputs into the lake, then use this

the dominant inputs (7) shown in figure 4. Below. This study is a good indication of the water
budget over general summer conditions but cannot be extrapolated for the annual water budget.
The report also recommends continuous monitoring of the two river flows the Okana and Okuti for

Essay The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall and A Worn Path
The short stories, The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Catherine Anne Porter and A Worn Path by
Eudora Welty, have many similarities as well as differences. Both stories have a simple plot with a
theme that is symbolic of their lives. These stories include great characterization, description of
elements in the stories, and the point of view.
Granny Weatherall is characterized as a very old lady who is extremely stubborn and bedridden.
Granny Weatherall is a sickly old lady in denial. She believes that she is not sick although she is
lying on her deathbed. Her life consisted of two men and her children with them. Granny
Weatherall remembers her first love, John, leaving her at the altar. She later marries George who

Phoenix, on the other hand, was a selfish manipulative old woman who had an obsession with
power. She was on a journey through the woods to the city, where she had many encounters. When
Phoenix encounters the hunter she steals the money that falls out of his pockets. She always seems
to want something for her troubles. However, later in the story while in the hospital, Phoenix has a
totally different personality. She seems to have no guilt for the actions she makes.
The elements of both stories include a simple plot with a them that is symbolic of their lives. In
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall the plot is granny Weatherall lying in her bed remembering her
life before she dies. In A Worn Paththe plot is Phoenix Jackson walking down a worn path trying
to get to the city. The memories of Granny Weatherall are all symbolic of her life flashing before
her eyes or death. The journey on the worn path, of Phoenix is symbolic of her life and how hard it
has been. .
The points of view of the stories are very different; however, the two stories are similar in that
they both are first person narratives. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall is told by her, but is her
reminiscing her entire life just before she dies. Granny Weatherall is having flashbacks, which
represent her past life leading to a new infinite one. A Worn Path is told by Phoenix Jackson. This
is just the story of her encounters on they way to the city. Phoenix is telling the story as she goes

Southeast Asian Region and Orientalism
Introduction
Southeast Asia is an imagined region comprising eleven independent countries. Although these
countries have many distinct patterns and thus defined as one region, they remain differentiated,
from their indigenous history background, their environmental and physical differences, their
religious tolerance, as well as their current political and economical status. The characteristic of
this region can be described as: diversity (K Danielson, 2009).
In my research paper, I will draw Indonesia as a representation of the whole Southeast Asiaregion.
The reason for doing so is due to Indonesia s diverse characteristic, which I believe is very
representative of the region as a whole. By analyzing President Barack Obama s speech: ... Show

People of Indonesia of that time was struggling and fighting for their independence. This is also
how many foreigners think about the political status of the Southeast Asian countries. This was true
about fifty years ago, but is completely changed now, by an extraordinary democratic
transformation, as mentioned by Obama. The peaceful power transfer and the direct leaders
election of Indonesia during these years bring the country a dynamic civil society , political parties
and unions , and a vibrant media and engaged citizens . By discussing the successfully democratic
transformation, Obama helps the foreigners gain information about what the real political status is
in Indonesia, which enables them to rethink what they used to think about the Southeast Asia might
have changed totally.
In the last place, Obama discussed the topic of religion, which is a fundamental of Indonesian
people. The largest religion in Indonesia is Muslim, with 88 percent of the population (U.S.
Department of State, 2010). Obama also mentioned that, most Indonesians, like his stepfather, were
raised a Muslim. However, they believe that all religions were worthy of respect (B

  • 3. Summary Of Rabindranath Tagore And Sri Aurobindo Rabindranath Tagore and Sri Aurobindo are the first Indian dramatists in English worth considering. Tagore wrote primarily in Bengali but almost all his Bengali plays are now available to us in English renderings. His important plays are Chitra, The Post Office, Sacrifice, Red Oleanders, Chandalika, Mukta Dhara and Natir Puja. The plays are firmly rooted in Indian ethos and present an unusually original dramatic vision. As Jain puts it: In these plays, there is an attempt to capture and present basic contradictions of life in a bigger perspective and with contemporary relevance; there is also a bold and creative experiment to synthesize some of the techniques and dramatic usages of the Sanskrit theatre and the traditional modes like the... Miracles play a very important part of these plays and unless the reader comes to them with a willing suspension of disbelief, the plays will not make sense to them. More than being a writer of spiritual aspect of human life, the playwright is known for his plays depicting social realism. The country in the 1930s, as has already been talked about, was surging with the spirit of nationalism and constant attempts were made to edify the ills of the society. As Iyengar says of the Five Plays, [It] contains some of his characteristic work as a playwright revealing his social consciousness, flair for realism, and the bite in his prose writing (233). His play, The Window, gives a pathetic account of the condition of the slum life of workers in a factory and ends with the workers protesting against the owners. The Parrot too deals with the life of the poor, while in The Coffin, the theme is that of schism between the imaginary world and the world of harsh reality. The importance of edifying in the real world instead of delving into the imaginary world is reiterated through the play. The Sentry s Lantern is a symbolic display of the arrival of better times; a revolution, which will benefit the poor and the downtrodden and which will usher in an era of communism. The Evening Lamp, too talks about a revolution, which will usher in a glorious era. In his works, it is clearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on The Concerto The Concerto Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra with three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define. The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of growth and progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section, two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms: the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. The sonata de camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in the same key. Its structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow movement and an energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da camera composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reflection On The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living Through the examples of Oedipus and Socrates, the saying the unexamined life is not worth living proves true in three ways: first, to live a life full of discovery is a direct calling from God; second, an examined life leads to humbleness; and lastly, a life spent in investigation will constantly be in pursuit of truth. A vital motive for pursuing an examined lifestyle is if a command to do so comes from the higher power one believes in. From a Christian perspective God rules as the higher power; however, from Socrates outlook the Greek gods dominated as the higher power. From a Christian standpoint it is clearly a command from God to live an examined life. Psalm 111:2 states Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as Socrates promptly gratified the wish of his god, humanity should be striving to fulfill the wishes of our omnipotent Creator. In both the Apology and Oedipus a key comparable quality is the humility shown by both Socrates and Oedipus. The humility they display originates from their discovery of the depravity of humanity. In Socrates case, he first discerned the nature of man when he began his quest of finding true wisdom. He found that the men he thought to be truly wise, appeared wise to many people, and especially to himself, but he was not (Plato 26). Socrates stumbled on the vice that fells much of humanity: pride. As Socrates continued to pursue his search for wisdom, time and time again he was disappointed by those he formerly thought had the highest reputation because they were nearly the most deficient (Plato 26). After unearthing this truth Socrates had two paths he could journey down. The first would be one of pride in himself, for indeed he did discover that he had more wisdom than most. The second path was one of humility in that he realized that just like everyone else, he was fallible and his wisdom could err. He chose the second path, and by doing so he became the wiser. For then he discovered the the oracle sent to him by Apollo was sent for him to ascertain that This man among you, mortals, is wisest who, like Socrates, understands that his wisdom is ... • 12. The Reflection Of Human Nature, By Seamus Heaney Firstly, Heaney uses the structure of the poem to tell us about human nature. For example, the slow, familiar rhythm of the iambic pentameter creates a reflective tone where the voice in the poem looks back at the lessons learnt in the past. This shows how we glamorize the past even our bad experience so we can learn from them. The two uneven stanzas with gently half rhyming couplets add a softness and a musical lilt without imposing too much rigidity. This also reflects the romantic memory and romanticised view of nature that we apply on our past experience however gruesome. Plus, by using lists and multiple points of enjambment Heaney give the poem a childlike and excited tone. This conveys the image not only of children and their views on the world but how we look into the past and become children again recalling the events that faced our young selves. Finally the long first stanza filled with the collection of the good, ripe fruit is destroyed quickly from the short, second stanza full of rot and decay. I believe that this suggest that however much we we gather and hoard our wealth will always deteriorate, often though death. This emphasise how horrible the human nature of hoarding is, as it will always end in hardship. Heaney also describes human nature though caesuras which are scattered throughout the poem. For example,a caesura at the end of lust for picking makes the reader linger on the word picking , stressing the action. This conveys the message that It is not the blackberries but the activity that they lust after. This first caesura of joy and happiness is then juxtaposed by the next cesura Like a plate of eyes. . This is a disconcerting image that matches the earlier images of flesh and clots. It is also as if they are staring at him accusing him of hoarding all the fruit that he won t be able to eat, plus the fact that he wrote it shows he is remorseful for his greed. The contrast between these two caesuras suggests the message that it is human nature that our greed will always take over the joy of the activity. The seven deadly sins are scattered throughout the poem and helps Heaney describe human nature. Firstly, Heaney say that after we pick the fruit we hoarded them in the barn. ... Through his metaphors Hemingway uses empathy to draw the reader closer to the characters as they feel for their suffering. War, usually thought of as a masculine fight for glory, is reversed in Hemingway s writings. Instead of men showing their masculinity, he portrays a war that takes away men s masculinity through injuries that deprive them the rest of their lives. • 19. Jay Z Decoded Sparknotes In the book Decoded, rapper and businessman Jay Z describes the emergence of hip hop culture while sharing his childhood memories, life challenges, and passions. Along with Jay Z s personal narrative, he provides an explanation for his song lyrics to educate readers about hip hop s importance, his life, and national issues. Thus, he creates several arguments about hip hop s purpose in the music industry. Two of Jay Z s main arguments consisted of hip hop being a form of art and the story of a hustler. This is especially true when considering how Jay Z defines hip hop, analyzes supporting evidence, and interprets rap lyrics. Moreover, Jay Z explains how poetry hides beneath the surface of hip hop songs, making it a form of art. However, many individuals are unaware of the poetry due to them focusing on the beat and punch lines of songs or quickly labeling rap as provocative rather than hearing the message behind the lyrics. This shows how hip hop became the voice for people living in the ghetto. The hustler s story created a connection with a global audience that defined the life of pure struggle (Jay Z, 18). For instance, Jay Z was raised in Brooklyn s drug infested projects causing him to have a rough adolescence. He became a hustler to afford material items and help his mother pay for the bills like most teenagers in his generation. Jay Z explains how teenagers were wearing automatic weapons as if they were sneakers. Instead of focusing on education, teenagers were worrying about adult responsibilities. Emerson And Conformity The well known essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, exerted his beliefs that conformity is something that independent individuals should not participate in through out his essay of Self Reliance . The Merriam Webster dictionary defines conformity as, behavior that is the same as the behavior of most other people in a society, group, etc. ( Conformity ). Emerson s primary concern with conformity was the overbearing control that society had on a free individual. I agree that we should not change our morals and values if pressured from outside forces. However, society, even though it is merely a concept created by the human brain, is something that holds a country together. Without society, people would make everyday life very complicated and chaotic.The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emerson is trying to explain here that each individual is responsible for accepting information. Emerson would argue that no one can force any ideas in which you do not agree because they are not sacred or viewed with accuracy by your own mind. However, when people disagree, they should not have any feelings of remorse because to be individualistic, the person must outline what he or she believes and stick to it. I agree with Emerson on the behalf of religious morals because as a Christian, we are called to keep to our faith, Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked (New Living Translation Bible Tim. 1.19). Here, the Bible is showing that sticking to faith and having a Christian outlook on life is necessary. Without these foundations in our walk with God then our faith in God will be skewed. So sticking to something that we believe in is a depiction of Emerson s viewpoint. However, I have internal conflict with Emerson on the basis of nothing is accepted but that in which we believe. The influential David Meyers showed us that in group bias is basically the acceptance or support of some group(s) (100). Meyers gives us a great example that not everything that we accept has to be accepted by our own mind. There are in group biases in which all humans connect to even though we are oblivious to them most of the time. For example, we might connect more with people of our race because as a in group bias, those are the people we are around more often. This is not a racist standpoint but rather an immediate connection with someone who we unknowingly think is similar to us. Looking at this evolution more in depth, parents relied heavily on religion to guide their attitudes and discipline behaviors in the 1700 s. As God fearing Puritans, it was paramount that children honored and obeyed their parents so as not to face the wrath of god and be sent to Hell. In defense of their children s mortal souls, parents and communities utilized severe forms of physical discipline to modify behavior and punish children. The beatings were often done in the center of town for all to see and children were forced to divulge their negative behaviors and be publicly shamed. As many of the church s teachings were geared toward obedience, this kind of extreme physical punishment was not only accepted but expected. Physical discipline was mainly carried out by the father of the household (Forehand, McKinney, 1993). People are creatures of their environment. Children were seen as inherently evil and full of sin and so there were no agencies set up to study the development of children or advocate for their rights. • 38. The Babadook Movie Analysis In the movie, the Babadook, the characters express their grief that never leaves. It grows as monster that one learns how to deal with because losing someone is never gets easier. These scenes are compared and contrasted through mise en scГЁ, cinematography, and editing. This scene analysis is going relate two scenes that helps understand what one goes through after a lost. The movie has characters that help express the misery of one that doesn t learn how to grieve in a proper manner. How one overcomes the pain and changes for the better and slowly has better days. A brighter day might not come tomorrow, but learning how to control your days come within time. In the beginning of the The Babadook, a scene between the motherand child is created in a dark room that seems to be the son, Samuel s room. The colors of the walls are dark blue, the furniture are dark browncolors, and the sheets of the bed are dark grey. The gloomy colors of the room create a depressing mood that expresses how Amelia, the mother is depressed. Amelia is wearing a bright pink dress with a tan cardigan with her hair up in a low messy ponytail. She looks like she is going to work after she drops off her son. Samuel is wearing an all black blazer with grey shorts, and a gold cape around his neck with a black magician hat and gold gloves. The uniform explains that he is going to school and his interests are magic tricks. The lighting being used is side lighting. There s a brighter side to the room that reflects on one side of the characters faces. The lighting helps explain that they are in dark times in their lives. It helps the audience see how Amelia s sleep deprived that is shown earlier throughout the movie that she couldn t wake up after her alarm rung. She struggled to get out of her bed and she put the alarm on snooze. The frame composition is tight framing that reflects a mother and her son hugging her, but how uncomfortable the moment is. Furthermore, the position of the camera is a high angle shot from the Samuel s perspective looking down at his mother and Amelia s perspective is eye level when the camera looks at her. It shows that Samuel is standing up and his mother is on her knees dressing him. Once Samuel hugs his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once he destroyed the plane he started to realize that because it would take so long for him to get the necessary parts to make his plane airworthy again he could build his own custom plane in a shorter amount of time. The fascination with seaplanes directed him toward building his own seaplane with his friend G.C. Westervelt in their hanger on Lake Union in Seattle. • 40. Electronic Patient Care Records (EPCR) Not so in healthcare or public safety. Especially during emergencies, if a product fails to work as intended or to work at all it can mean lost productivity, mountainous legal fees, brain death, or loss of life, limb and property. Healthcare IT offers outsized benefits to Emergency Response teams, which depend on speed, ease of training and use, data accuracy, and interoperability. But the stakes of failure or disruption are so high that one can say there are few areas of development with a more desperate need for criticism. And criticism there has been! Few complaints garner broader consensus among Fire and EMS practitioners than that leading manufacturers of electronic patient care records ( ePCR ) have abysmally neglected UX and design considerations. • 41. Racial Bias In The Blind Side The Blind Side is based on the incredible true story of Michael Oher (a current NFL player). It s a story of hard knocks and always persevering. To fight for another day and to hope something better is around the bend. As Oher did exactly that as he was determined and found a better future. Through racial bias and other trying times in his life. The Movie Begins with a voice over by Leigh Anne Tuohy who later in the movie adopts Michael. The movie starts with a clip from a football game being played between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. Leigh Anne tracks down Oher s mom at an apartment complex in hurt village. The scene is set so that the camera is facing out from a dark hallway into a sunny day that is shining on Leigh Anne and it gives the effect that she is walking from the light into the darkness. When Leigh Anne finds the apartment it is very dark with what appears to be wine bottles and other things sitting around the room. Giving off the sense that Oher s biological mother is a drunk. After this scene the Tuohy s legally adopt Michael Oher. This is a lot like Chris Beam s article From to The End of June: The Intimate Life of American Foster Care talks about teenage adoption and in the articles case it follows a girl who gets adopted and eventually runs away from her adopted family. Which Oher s biological mother warns of as she says he s a runner, don t be surprised if one day you wake up and he s gone . Oher s adoption does not end in shambles as the one in Chris Beam s article. As in the article a teenage girl is adopted by a husband and wife. In the story the girl didn t like the living situation and tried to get the husband in trouble. Claiming that the husband had abused her, she eventually ran away once she was of age. Although these countries have many distinct patterns and thus defined as one region, they remain differentiated, from their indigenous history background, their environmental and physical differences, their religious tolerance, as well as their current political and economical status. The characteristic of this region can be described as: diversity (K Danielson, 2009). In my research paper, I will draw Indonesia as a representation of the whole Southeast Asiaregion. The reason for doing so is due to Indonesia s diverse characteristic, which I believe is very representative of the region as a whole. By analyzing President Barack Obama s speech: ...
