The reform process started in the early 90s has given the industry a great opportunity. Not only
must the sector become more efficient it must also identify sectors having growth opportunities
and devise strategies to move savings into these sectors. 1.1 Current Scenario Currently, the
overall banking in India is considered as fairly mature in terms of supply, product range and reach
even though reach in rural India still remains a challenge for the private sector banks. Well
computerized private sector banks are beginning to compete seriously with the nationalized banks.
They aim at a profitable and wealthy part of the market and, in contrast to the nationalized banks,
do not recognize any social responsibilities to small account holders or to a rural and semi urban
clientele. Almost 80% of the business are still controlled by Public Sector Banks (PSBs). PSBs are
still dominating the commercial banking system. The banking system is facing the challenges with
stiff competition and advancement of technology, the services provided by banks have become
more easy and convenient. The competitive character has been promoted by facilitating the entry of
foreign banks. The country is flooded with foreign banks and their ATM stations. Efforts are being
put to give a satisfactory service to customers. Phone banking and net banking are introduced. The
entire system has become more convenient ad swift. Time is given more importance than money.

Ohio Government Benefits
Ohio has so much potential. Property is cheap, taxes are cheap, the colleges are cheaper than most,
but people are fleeing the state at alarming rates. There is only one reason that comes to mind for
this. The state government. It sounds narrow, I know, but everything the state government does,
affects this state, and our lives drastically. An example of this would be College Credit Plus, which
is helping students tremendously, or the Commercial Activity Tax, or CAT, which is driving small
businesses out of the state, or even how Ohiostill hasn t legalized recreational marijuana. I know
you can t fix who is in our state government, but there are things our state government, and the
people of Ohio can do in order to better the state. Ohio... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The funding for public education is based on the grounds of property tax. Which, again, is
incredibly stupid because Ohio s property taxes are so low. A better way to fund public
education would be to legalize marijuana. Marijuana is legal in Ohio, but only for medical use. It
would be so much more profitable if it was legal for recreational use also. Not to mention, the
people who do marijuana would stop being thrown in jail. Which is my main beef with it. The
federal government paints marijuana as this terrible drug, Compared to those who don t use
marijuana, those who frequently use large amounts report the following: lower life satisfaction,
poorer mental health, poorer physical health, more relationship problems. People also report
less academic and career success. For example, marijuana use is linked to a higher likelihood of
dropping out of school. It s also linked to more job absences, accidents, and injuries (National
Institute of Drug Abuse). Look, I really don t care how high people get off of marijuana, they can
smoke until they don t know their own name. It makes me mad that people are getting thrown in
jail over simply having marijuana on them, while people die of lung cancer from smoking
cigarettes. Cigarettes are even popularized by the media, not demonized like marijuana is. It s
ridiculous. According to Tax Foundation in 2016, A mature

Renaissance Art And The Postmodern Frame
Art throughout history have challenged the values and attitudes of their contemporary society. With
a focus on the postmodern frame, Artists have used and changed art conventions such as the Salon

Leonardo Da Vinci from the Renaissance movement and Claude Monet from the Impressionism
movement. The artist Chiharu Shiota and Lee Bul have also used the art convention Biennale and

The Renaissance movement was also significant in that it influenced the developments which
occurred in philosophy, literature, music and science. This influenced Leonardo Da Vincito created
one of his most accomplished works of all time Mona Lisa. Mona Lisa was an portrait oil painting
created in the early 1500s and is widely considered to be the greatest artwork of all time.
Leonardo Da Vinci used gaze and demand within the artwork. This allows the audience to feel
interactively connected to the artwork and the character. Leonardo Da Vinci achieved an unusual
effect of having Mona Lisa s smile alter depending on the angles the audience looks at the
artwork. The use of perspective also gives the artwork a three dimensional feel. This allows the
audience to see idealised female form as well as the themes and values of the Renaissance. The
artwork Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci had a focus on challenging the International Gothic Style
as well as representing the values and attitudes of the world at the time.
Claude Monet was an impressionist who used and changed art conventions such as the Salon des
RefusГ©s and the world as a source of ideas to create artworks such as Impression, Sunrise . The
impressionists of the late 1800s wanted to capture the ephemeral moment in time. The artists had a

The Effect Of The Warring States Period On Modern Japan
The warring states period in Japan was one of constant military dispute. It started in 1467 and
went for 136 years and only ended when all the clans unified under the Tokugawa Shogunate in
1603. This period definitely had a large effect in the making of modern Japan because it was a time
of growing culture and strong economics. The economy grew despite the wars raging and trade was
big this indicates the sophisticated craft and manufacturing industries in Japan. These are the main
reasons for the start of the warring states period and how this era affected modern Japan. The
background to the warring states period is extensive and quite complex. The government at the time
was known as the Bakufu Shogunate or the Shogunal government. It was

A Student At The College Of William And Mary
I am writing to you today as a student at the College of William and Mary. I am in an International
Security class and recently we studied the events occurring in Syria. As you are well aware, the
situation in Syria has been dramatically deteriorating in recent months with the rise of the Islamic
State of Iraqand the Levant (ISIL) and the recent entrance of Russia into the conflict. Syria,
meanwhile, has been in the midst of a ravaging civil war since the early spring of 2011.
Currently, the government of Syria is led by President Bashar al Assad, a member of the Syrian

This led to various sectarian strifes among the countries in the Middle East. Since Russia started
bombing, they have mostly targeted anti Assad rebels, rather than ISIL which they stated they were
bombing. I propose to include Russia in the current coalition, led by the United States, which also
include Australia, Bahrain, Canada, France, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab
Emirates, United Kingdom. There will have to be negotiations in order to get Russia to
cooperate so they do not go rogue and bomb targets that are supported by the West and other
countries in the coalition. By having Russia in the coalition and working with the United States,
there will be a greater oversight of their operations and more transparency among the nations.
This will help with making strategic attacks so ISIL can be degraded and destroyed and also so
the Assad regime will finally relinquish power to a democratic government. There also must be
targeted strikes upon ISIL s main sources of income: oil reserves. Although this may harm
potential future capabilities of Syria or Iraq to drill for oil, it will severely disrupt the income of
ISIL so that they will not be able to buy the resources necessary to fight against the governments
and to maintain the territory which it has already conquered. Next, in order to quell

Nf1 s Pathogenesis Essay
On the one hand, it is critically important to itemize and understand the inter relationships of the
various elements of NF1 on their own. On the other hand, realizing how those elements relate to
the respective ages of the persons with each of the several NF disorders, may also contribute to
their individual health care and to the understanding of the disorder s pathogenesis in more
general terms. For example, virtually everyone with NF1 will manifest cafГ© au lait spots
(CLS) in the first year of life, while an NF2 vestibular schwannoma may not be obvious until the
affected person s3rd decade or later. And persons affected by Schwannomatosis may only develop
problems that appear well beyond childhood and are much more non specific, such as pain
without an otherwise apparent cause. Reliance on clinical symptoms and signs is at least laudable,
and, I would say, commendable. Nonetheless, in at least some problem cases, resort to genetic
analyses may be especially contributory, specifically assessing mutations in or deletions (loss) of
the NF1 locus on the long arm of human chromosome 174 , the NF2 locus on the long arm of human

In addition, somatic mosaicism especially when there are minimal or topographically limited signs
and symptoms may be a factor in both diagnosis and prognosis, a consideration numerically most
important for NF2. And beyond mutational heterogeneity and mosaicism there is also the matter of
overlap with disorders utterly distinct from NF1, NF2 and Schwannomatosis. For example, for a
very young child with CLS as the sole or primary finding, identifying or discounting a mutation of
the SPRED1 locus on the long arm of human chromosome 15 may be very helpful for both the

My mother is mestiza, my father is mestizo, my brother is mestizo, my tias, my tios, as am I. All
mestizos. I ve been told I am worthy of praise because I carry your language on my tongue
without an accent, because I had an American education, because I can recite allegiance to your

often presented with shocked faces when I speak my second language, English, faces that

work twice as hard to understand my heavy, foreign accent the same accent my parents have. On
top of that, I am the color of the sun reigning on my skin. I found from my 17 years here, it does

Summary
Anna Myers s historical fiction novel Assassin gives a detailed and thought provoking account of
President Lincoln s assassination. Alternating narration depicts events through the eyes of both
John Wilkes Booth and young girl Arabella Getchel. Bella is a seamstress in the White House
during Lincoln s presidency who pursues her dream of performing in the theater by working late
hours at Ford s Theater in exchange for show tickets. Here Bella meets Wilkes, a famous and
handsome actor. Entirely loyal to the South and Confederacy, Wilkes s charming smile and smooth
voice are famously captivating. He is, however, inclined to show aggression toward those who

Many times prophecies were made and fulfilled, leading the readers to believe that supernatural
forces God or otherwise were present in the unfolding of the story. When Booth was born, his
mother believed the flames in the fire spelled COUNTRY, and so she believed that he would
have a great effect on America. Also, as a teenager, Booth had a fortune teller predict his future.
When she looked at the may crossed lines on his palms she became worried and predicted he
would die young but famous. Both of these prophecies were fulfilled in Booth s life. At the
White House, just days before his assassination, Lincoln had a dream. In the dream, he had died
been shot and killed and was lying in a large curtained coffin in the Green Room. This too came
true. In response to these occurrences, I cannot really judge whether they are true or false. I
generally consider supernatural events to be unlikely, though I would not deem them impossible.
Considering the specific events in the story however, I believe the word in the flames and the
supposed fortune actually specifically influenced Booth s life, instead of being signs of divine
future seeing. Also, I believe that Lincoln s dream, aside from being somewhat concerning, was
just a coincidence and was probably caused by the rational long term fear the entire Lincoln family
had of being

Reflection Paper On Teaching A Lesson
I prepared for these lessons first by thinking carefully over how I was going to teach a specific
concept and what I was going to need. I did this several days before I actually began teaching the
concepts. Each day I found the items I would need for that day s lesson and had it in an easily
accessible place. Since this was my first week teaching I did not have previous experience to go
off of from this class. However, I did have an understanding that preparation is key because of
previous experiences giving instruction and not being prepared by thinking out exactly how I
would go about teaching the lesson.
Depending on the day I had different sets. On Monday, I created a picture graph for the students to
work with about the student s favorite sport. I believe this was an effective set because it got the
students moving and excited about sharing while learning something new. On Tuesday, I did not
really have a set. Because it was a test day I jumped right into reviewing what was learned
through the last few lessons. On Wednesday, I almost had a set, but since it was not using
interactive material, it failed to grab the attention as much as I had wanted. On Thursday, I used a
story for my set and felt that because I was having the students interact with the book by giving
answers, it captured their attention and interest. On Friday, I had the students talk about their
favorite animals. This was a good beginning to a set but after the fact, I felt as if I should have

Intense competition from local and overseas retailers
Emerging foreign and local companies like Diaso Japan and Mustafa 24 7 shopping centre has
seen impressive growth since their inception in Singapore. It is gaining popularity for its
affordable and its wide selection of goods ranging from daily groceries to electronic gadgets.
Furthermore each has a unique traits for its popularity. For Diaso Japan, most imported goods
from Japan are sold under $5. Whereas for Mustafa it operates 365 days all year round services.
Also, goods are considerably cheaper as compared to other outlets in Singapore.
Service quality
In the retail sector, there is a lack of professionalism and image of the retail workforce in
Singapore. Many companies in the service sector do not have clear procedures and work
performance standards due to the shortage of skilled personnel. Therefore it needs to raise the
image of their retail workforce constantly promoting service differentiation from its competitors and

Current Health Status of Migrant Farm Workers in Canada
Introduction As a result of poor economy which led to extreme poverty and massive
unemployment, migrant farm workers are forced to migrate from their home countries to
different developed countries to work in order to make a living for themselves as well as their
families. Every year, thousands of migrant farm workers from Mexico, Jamaica, Guatemala,
Thailand etc. come into Canada (Bauder, Preibisch, Sutherland, Nash, 2002). They work in almost
all the provinces particularly in Ontario, and have become an important instrument in the
economic viability of agriculture in parts of Canada due to the fact that Canadians are not very
attracted to agricultural work. The migrant farm workers are managed by two distinct federal
programs: Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (SAWP) and Pilot Project for Occupations
Requiring Lower Level of Formal Training . (Pysklywec, McLaughlin, Tew, Haines 2011). In
theory, these workers are entitled to and covered by same healthcoverage that every other
Canadian in the province is entitled to. However, in practice, the reverse is the case; these
workers have almost no access to health care facilities and suffer various health issues ranging
from skin diseases up to sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV. (Pysklwec et al., 2011).This
paper will look into the current health status of migrant farm workers in Canada and give possible
suggestion to help alleviate the problems affecting their health.

Monologue Of Woman
I think this text is about a woman, that is a dreamer and thinks less of herself. I can say this
because in the monologue, the curious woman set out various examples such as on lines 1 and 2
it says The woman I am in my dreams is taller than i am. I think this precise sentence means that
she wants to stand tall/up for herself and support her own opinions, which leads to my first point.
A another obvious example is, on lines 24 28 she reveals The womanI am in my dreams her legs are
straight and sure, they don t fall out from under her, they don t hide under long skirts her legs and
feet are well. This is an another example of how she thinks less of herself because, the text proves
that she clearly doesn t like how her legs are straight

Hawaiian Mythology Research Paper
Hawaiian Mythology has a very long and rich history. One way Hawaiian Mythology is unique is
that they communicate their legends, traditions, and myths orally. This limits outsiders from being
able to fully grasp the culture. As a result, this aspect of Hawaiian culture creates a special bond and
understanding between members of the Hawaiian culture. A significant part of Hawaiian culture is
Hawaiian worship. Hawaiian worship is focused on natural occurrences; natural occurrences, or in
other words nature myths, such as rainfall, sunshine, or fruitful harvests.
Within Hawaiian Mythology, there are four primary Gods: Ku, Kane, Kanaloa, and Lono. Each
god represents a specific natural phenomena or natural occurrence. Each God is associated with a

the creator of Hawaiian mythology. Kane is elevated over the others because he became self

aware enabled other gods, such as Ku and Lono, to escape Po. Once all three gods escaped Po,

Analysis Of Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Nick Carraway, at first seems like a big and
important part of the novel but once we meet Jay Gatsby that changes. Nick takes a back seat to
be the narrator for Gatsby s story. As a narrator Nick is the most effective choice for The Great
Gatsby. This is proven by his willingness to withhold judgment. his relationship to each of the main
characters.his outsider status and perceptiveness. In my younger and more vulnerable, years my

While Nick is in the apartment with Tom, at the same time he imagines himself standing on the
street looking at the apartment above in wonder as to what it is like to be involved in one of

still feels as if he is not really one of them. He feels like this throughout the novel, he has rich
friends and he goes to luxurious parties but he never feels like he belongs and he is never
treated like he belongs. This outsider status helps him be a great narrator because it helps him
give the reader the insider experience but also helps keep their distance and not get too attached to
that world. If Nick were an insider the reader would not be shown a fair view of Gatsby s story. The
reader would only see the East Egg side and never explore the West Egg side of life. Having Nick as

George Orwell s Animal Farm
American Journalist Carl Hiaasen once said, Good satire comes from anger. It comes from a
sense of injustice, that there are wrongs in the world that need to be fixed
(www.brainyquote.com). In George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, Orwell fuels his inspiration for
the novel from his anger and dislike towards the misuse of governmental power, and the corruption
that occurs when the government has too much power. The pigs in this novel represent a
government s leaders and the effects of what happens when a government gains too much power
and influence over its people. The pigs, especially their leader Napoleon, misuse their power and
use it to take advantage of the animal with a lower intelligence level. Orwell satirizes Napoleon by
giving him the characteristics of a ruthless dictator who uses education, violence, and rhetoric to
control the other animals on the farm.
The pigs use rhetoric to convince the animals to adopt Napoleon as their leader and remain loyal
to him. The animals on the farm spend their lives being a slave to the farm. Napoleon, however,
abuses the animals loyalty, and even though they spend every day of their lives trying to please
him, they are never good enough for Napoleon. They are constantly reminded that Bravery is not
enough... loyalty and obedience are more important (55). After the deadly battle that allowed
Animal Farm to be a free state, Squealer, Napoleon s messenger, convinces the farm animals that

The American Liberal Democratic Values Essay
American Liberal Democratic Values
I.The definitions of democracy and liberalism
Liberalism and democracy are two different concepts, liberalism is a political philosophy which is
based on the principle of individual freedom, it calls for guarantees of the rights of the individual,
including freedom from arbitrary authority, freedom of religion, the right to own and exchange
private property, rights to equal opportunity in health care, education, and employment, and the
rights to political participation and representation. While democracy is a set of political procedures
involving participation and competition. Most democracies are liberal democracies to some degree.
because political participation, competition, and accountability are perhaps the best guarantees that
individual freedoms will be preserved, thus the terms liberal and democracy often go hand in hand.
II. Liberal democracy the U.S. goal
U.S. policies aim to boost the spread of liberal democratic values. In the nineteenth century, the U.S.
didn t play an important role in global governance, as the geographical reach of the United States
political influence expanded, liberal democracy promotion turned into a major part of U.S. foreign
policy, the aim of promoting democracy abroad had been a core element in how the United States
exercises its international power. Moral Universalism , introduced by America s project of liberalism
during the twentieth century, is an ideology based on the liberal

Trick or Treaty? is a 2014 Canadian documentary film by Alanis Obomsawin that details into the
difficult history of Treaty Number 9, the infamous 1905 agreement in which First Nations
communities lost sovereignty over their traditional lands. The title Trick or Treaty? asks the
question of whether the Cree and Ojibway people were lied to in order to obtain the necessary

the treaty was interpreted by First Nations peoples and the Canadian government while exploring

Government introduced the omnibus Bill C 45 in 2012, First Nations resentment flared even more.
This federal budget bill included changes to land management on reserves that diminished the
authority of First Nations without their any of their consultations. Unsatisfied with the federal

of all time. I chose her as my topic, because she represents resiliency and tenacity, despite her
troubled experiences with drugs and her personal life. Whitney Houston comes from a family with
an amazing, musical pedigree; her mother, Cissy Houston, was a successful back up singer for
Aretha Franklinand Elvis Presley. Dionne Warwickis her first cousin and Aretha Franklin is her
godmother. In 1983, Houston was signed to Arista Records and music executive, Clive Davis,
became her mentor and helped launch her successful career. Whitney Houston was... Show more

If an individual wants to be in the entertainment industry, one must know who they are and to
develop a tough exterior, in order to overcome adversity and negativity. It is evident that Whitney
was a people pleaser and if she did not please everybody, then it would take a toll on her and as a
result, provided her with a lot of distress and pain. For this reason, possibly drew her into a realm
of drugs and chaos. Psychosocial development was created by Erik Erikson, in which, mentions that
personality is developed in a series of stages, throughout an individual s lifespan. In particular,
the Identity versus Role Confusion was a very profound stage to discuss, in regards to Whitney
Houston s life. Even though, she sold millions of records and won many awards, Whitney still
felt empty in her personal life. In turn, she turned to drugs, as a means of support and to ease the
pain of her emptiness. She mentioned in an interview with Oprah: I spent my life making records
and touring the world in my 20 s and 30 s...I totally forgot about singing, I was focused on finding
my young womanhood. (Winfrey, interview, 2009). In the beginning of her career, Whitney was
too busy promoting herself and getting her out there to music executives, in order to start her
career. Clive chose all of the songs for her to sing and her mother picked the clothes that she would
wear on stage. This poses a problem, because Whitney did not have the

Baptism And The Lord s Supper Essay
According to David Scaer, Thomas Baima comprehensively understands the presence of Christ in
the Lord s Supper within the trinitarian context that includes the three divine persons: The Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit. The trinitarian communion is first communicated with the thought
that Jesus is equally divine and man and then in all the sacraments. Therefore, Lutherans can
declare that god and humanity are united sacraments. According to Thomas Baima, whose
proposition David Scaer explores, baptism is a sacrament that is irreplaceable as it remains with
the believer for the rest of their life. It is therefore evident that the ritual of baptism is a base
upon which other sacraments may be built. From the idea of baptism as a sacrament emerges the
concept of sacrament being defined as a sacrifice. The initial label as sacrifice allows the
definition of sacrament to also extend to anamnesis, which is the recalling or reminiscence of a
historical event. Baima provides two examples to accentuate the definition: the baptism and the
Lord s Supper. In the baptism, the people participate in the death and the resurrection of Christ.
The death of Christ represents his sacrifice made for the purpose of washing away the sins of his
followers. In return, the followers receive the sacrament of the sacrifice of Christ. In the same
manner, the reception of Christ s blood and body during the communion signifies the sacrifice of
the Christ which is then received as the sacrament to the

Fox Hall is interesting mostly due to the fact that it is the tallest building in Lowell, and it houses
so many undergraduates. Fox Hall is located on East Campus, which is one of the main residential
areas of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Fox Hall offers three types of room choices,
which are double, triple and quad. I live in a triple with my roommates Christopher and Quinlan.
Fox Hall also has the largest dining hall on campus. The dining hall is on the second floor of the
building, so you don t have to leave the residence hall to go and get food. Fox Hall has three
elevators, two of them are personal elevators, while one is a freight elevator used mostly by
construction workers who are building the fourth elevator on the building. Most people in my
community get frustrated about the construction that s going on at Fox Hall because it is loud and
annoying. Another thing that Fox Hall offers to its residence is the Centers for Learning which is
located on the first floor of the building. Centers for Learning offers students tutoring or help for
any issues that they may have. Overall, the community of Fox Hall is warm and welcoming, other
than the people who are exhausted from the construction which causes an inability to sleep.

Heart Of Darkness Analysis
In the novel Heart of Darkness, the characters who spend time in the heart of the jungle in the
Congo, seem to change as time passes by. One of the men who is most dramatically affected from
this change is Mr. Kurtz. This relates to what Pauline Hopkins once said in Contending Forces,
And, after all, our surroundings influence our lives and characters as much as fate, destiny or any

with no morals and the need for power. Mr. Kurtz was once a man with morals, but once he
because a victim of the overwhelming power he had in the jungle, he abandoned the person he
once was. He originally believed he could bring light to the Congo, which was shown with his
painting of the woman, Then I noticed a small sketch in oils... representing a woman, draped and
blindfolded, carrying a lighted torch. The background was somber almost black. 21 22 This
shows how he uses the torch to show how Kurtz is trying to bring light into the the jungle where
only darkness is found. Despite this act, Kurtz soon changes his view of light and dark, his
actions become sinister and his main worry becomes the obtainment of ivory and power over the

Enron was formed through the merger of Houston Natural Gas of Houston (HNG), Texas and
InterNorth. Houston natural gas covered the Florida and California market, their pipelines
running from east to west and InterNorth catered the Iowa and Minnesota market, their
pipelines running from north to south. HNG was formed in 1920, providing gas to retail
customers in Houston. The company sold its retail gas business in 1920 and ventured into the
gas exploration and production business. In the year 1984, HNG had $3.7 billion in assets, over
$2 billion in sales and booked profits of $123 million. InterNorth was a natural pipeline company
located in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1984 InterNorth had revenues of $7.5 billion. The reason behind
the merger was that InterNorth faced the threat of a buyout by corporate raiders as it had low
debt and high revenues. The conservative operations and low debt of InterNorth made it a
target for corporate raiders who planned to use its cash reserves and borrowing capacity to
extract funds for themselves. On the other hand HNG Company had borrowed heavily to
expand its pipelines in the Florida and California markets. Therefore merging with Houston
Natural Gas made perfect sense as it fended off corporate raiders. In May 1984 InterNorth
acquired HNG for $2.4 billion, under the leadership of Sam Segnar who was the CEO of
InterNorth at that time. The negotiations for HNG were handled by John Wing and he was able to

sat on my couch, and repeatedly told myself the day would hopefully turn out better than last night.

His facial expressions seem to look like something is bothering him. He wears a gray hat and has
grown a long white beard on his unshaven face. The bags under his eyes seem to compliment the
walking stick and both show the aging process of man. His clothes look to be unwashed and is
probably the only clothes he owns. His clothes consist of a long white v neck long sleeved shirt and
a pair of torn blue jeans to cover his legs. He also has a sack that is hung over his right shoulder.
This sack is the same color or appears to be the same color of his hat. The walking stick he
carries clenched in his left hand stands from feet to chest. The knees of the old man are slightly
bent and his head is hung over to the side. His shoes look to be worn down and are gray. Next to
his shoes is a pile of trash. In the garbage, there is broken glass, wrappers, a piece of fruit that was
bitten into, leaves, and branches. It looks to be that he is on dirt but the background fades to gray.
Manet did not use vertical lines in this painting; instead, he used bending line. The bending line
indicates hard working, tired, and weariness. The man s walking stick appears to be very vertical
but is actually at a slight diagonal. His life does not at all look like a proud one but more of a
laboring, hard and tired life. The bending line gives away the feeling and emotion of the piece.

Theories On The Causation Of Homosexuality
Running head: CAUSATION OF HOMOSEXUALITY 1
Theories on the Causation of Homosexuality

CAUSATION OF HOMOSEXUALITY 2
Abstract
There are two main schools of thought regarding the causation of homosexuality. The first,
which is examined in this research, is biological cause. Three main categories of thought
exist under biological theory: hormone theory, brain theory, and genetic theory. Each
category contains convincing evidence as to why its respective variations should be attributed
to provoking homosexuality. Hormone theory maintains that abnormal levels of testosterone
expose whether too great or too little is responsible for masculinizing or feminizing
the fetus and thus altering its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study of its causation, however, has been greatly expanded only within past two
centuries. Many theories have been formulated to attempt to explain what causes sexual
variance, and in particular, homosexuality. These theories can be grouped into two main
categories: nature and nurture. The theories which fall under the nature category maintain
that homosexual behavior results from biological, innate differences between homosexuals
and heterosexuals. The nurture theories, in contrast, state that homosexual tendencies form
as a result of one s sociological environment, and that homosexuality is an acquired trait.
Recent research, however, indicates a stronger assumption towards biological causes of
homosexuality and leads one to question the validity of the nurture theories in influencing
homosexual behavior.
Nature Theories
Theories crediting homosexual behavior to natural, biological factors take many
different routes. The three main subcategories of biological theories include hormone theory,
brain theory, and genetic theory. Although neither the nature nor the nurture theories are
entirely conclusive, recent research suggests more of a correlation between biological
theories on the causation of homosexuality as opposed to sociological theories.
Hormone Theory
Several studies have been conducted in an attempt to prove the

The Laramie Project Paper
The Laramie Project, written and directed by MoisГ©s Kaufman, is a docudrama that was written
and filmed after a homosexual student was brutally beaten and killed in Laramie, Wyoming in
1998. Although he was left in a gruesome and unimaginable state by the two boys that killed him,
Matthew Shepard did not die until five days later in a Colorado hospital. The crime brought national
attention to hate crimes and caused legislation to be passed punishing those who commit crimes for
this reason. The Tectonic Theater Project, a group based in New York City, moved into the small
town of Laramie, documenting the town s reactions to the crime and the attention that it had

At this point in the movie, the audience has not learned much of McKinney and Russell Henderson,
the other person charged of killing Shepard. Because the dialogue is in the confession setting,
McKinney keeps his answers to a minimum and only answers to what has been asked. That makes
the subtext during the scene very noticeable because the audience develops their opinion of the
boys during that instance. Through the short confession and his demeanor, the audience can
conclude that McKinney was homophobic and unwilling to grant Shepard any mercy when he beat
him. The police officer asks questions that are to the point, trying to gain as much information as
possible. McKinney answers without hesitation and tells what he claims to be the truth while
revealing that he is nervous about the outcome of his trial. This addition to the play is interesting
because it has to be staged as an actual occurrence rather than as an interview. It is similar to the
speech made by Dennis Shepard because the theater group did not specifically ask questions in
search for these answers, but they use the information because it gives the docudrama its sense of
reality. This confession shapes the murderers as characters and helps the audience answer some
lingering questions. It also allows the theater group to gather information and interviews from
townspeople in response to this specific confession and how they felt about

Cesare Beccaria s Impact On America
Government policies in America come from a variety of sources. But the philosophers who
made the most impact are Cesare Beccaria and Baron de Montesquieu. Beccaria believed in a
competent justice system. His philosophy is the basis for the US justice system. Beccaria lived
in Italy from 1738 to 1794. Baron de Montesquieu believed in the separation of power and checks

the literary universe is William Golding. He wrote the Lord of the Flies in 1954. Lord of the Flies

Cesare Beccaria was dead set against unfair punishments. He believed that the punishments
should fit the crime. (Cesare Beccaria) For example, if a person is caught stealing bread, and the
court decrees his hand should be cut off, he will have to steal again because he is unable to feed
his family with one hand. He also believed in abolishing the death penalty. Because the boys do
not establish a competent justice system, as Cesare Beccaria argued any effective government
must, they fall into a state of anarchy. Jack s actions are a perfect example of the failure of the
boys to have a justice system. After he lets the fire go out, Piggy and Ralph tear into him. He
cannot bear the truth of his actions and turns to the only way of coping he knows preying on the
weak. This from Piggy, and the wails of agreement from some of the hunters, drove Jack to

not be condoned. He would be brought up in front of the proper authorities. Unfortunately, on the

continue doing wrong things without fear of repercussions. This causes the island to fall into a

Narcissism In Social Work
Published
There are many business issues we all face in the work place today. One of those that I can
personally relate to my professional work life is narcissism. Stephen Robbins defines narcissism
as being the tendency to be arrogant, have a grandiose sense of self importance, require excessive
admiration, and have a sense of entitlement. (Robbins, 2009, p. 113) We have one employee who
has the attitude of narcissism. He is very arrogant and thinks that he knows everything about
anything. This would be fine if he actually did. However, we are an electrical company. Meaning
we work very closely with electricity, which is highly dangerous if you do not know 100% what
you are doing. It makes it very difficult to work with someone like this. They make their co
workers feel belittled and they are less effective at the job. Narcissisms are very arrogant in the fact
that they do not care about their co workers feelings. In the article Narcissism and Emotional

The Limits Of My Language Are The Limits Of My World
History of Language
It is argued that the human species are a class of animal. However, the distinctive characteristic that
makes us unique, which makes humans different from all other species, is our ability to use
complex language. Language is thought of as multi sensory, containing not only the verbal and
writing, but also touch, smell, sound, and body elements. As humans are very social beings, people
have the natural instinct to connect and communicate with others, to share our emotions and ideas,
and as a result, learning a language becomes an instinct for each individual. Language is the
device used for communication, Ludwig Wittgenstein, an Austrian philosopher on language, said,
The limits of my language are the limits of my world . By this Wittgenstein implies that people
use just one language and therefore live in just one world, and if someone is not capable of using
the language, their world is narrowed. However, Albert Einstein had a conflicting opinion, he
cheapened the importance of language and said, The words of a language as they are written and

He states that procreative beneficence is Couples (or single reproducers) should select the child,
of the possible children they could have who is expected to have the best life, or at least as good
a life as the others, based on the relevant, available information . (Savulescu 295). This definition
suggests that people have a moral obligation to choose what is best for their child based on what
they know. He argues that there is a way to select from a large range of possible children people
could have; most commonly, this is done by using fetal selection through prenatal testing and
termination of pregnancy (Savulescu 296). Technology is already in place for procreative
beneficence , it just needs to be utilized properly. He is not arguing for the positive selection of
traits that will correspond to those that result in a better life. When he presents the example of
testing for the genetic predisposition for poor memory, he suggests that there is a positive
obligation to test for memory profiles if the results of poor memory are horrible (298).
Savulescu seems to support the idea of a decent life, but not the best life possible for all traits.
The boundaries about what defines intelligence are still vague, but plato claims that life is a
mixture of wisdom and pleasure (Savulescu 298). These factors need to be balanced, and if there is
a genetic code that selects for these traits, Savulescu would likely support them being chosen.

improving his choices and becoming a better person. Kesha recently came out with a new album
that screams feminism. She talks about a lot of different things in each of her songs; most of

Compare And Contrast Nude Vs Nude
Nakedness and Nudity are often used interchangeably. In Nude versus Naked, John Berger
separates them and finds distinguishable differences between them both. He had said that to be
naked is to be natural without clothes and pure in oneself and seen as such, while nude is to be
naked but not to be seen as one s self. All that is nude consequently, is considered naked but not all
that is naked can be nude.
Nakedness is the natural form of undress to be seen as is; while Nudity brings about implications
and accordingly suggests numerous underlying factors that add on to the view of the spectators on
the art presented to them. As we understand the view of art and in determining how one is Nude
and the other Naked, It is of necessity to understand a bit of background on art, how it is regarded
and seen, and its exhibition in the Philippines
Art in the Philippines is often seen as a privilege to only those who are wealthy enough. Most

The awareness of the idea of giving art its proper freedom of expression, only came into being in
the 1900s. During the pre Hispanic time pottery, tattoos, textiles, ornaments, etc. were the art
works considered by most as art forms but were actually objects of utility and convenience. The
creation of these objects was a way of life rather than just something made for the pleasure of
viewing or admiring. With the arrival and influence of Spanish culture, the need for a venue
wherein artworks may be exhibited was finally introduced. It was the era in Philippine history,
when the production of proto art galleries had begun. If one were to find a venue that would be
similar to an art gallery during then in Metro Manila, it would be in workshops. There was such a
progression in the Philippine art scene that the need for an art gallery inevitably

Group Identification Definition
Per Anthony Mullen (2016) in group dynamics, norming is part of the group counseling stage
where problems are solved, and group members began to understand the group and respect the
group leader. Using identification and hope in a domestic violence group can have a positive
change on peer relationships within the group(Gladding, 2016). Identification occurs when group
members can relate to another member and hope is thoughts that the future and possibilities will
be better (Gladding, 2016). In a group setting, identification is essential to have cohesion among
the members (Gladding, 2016). Moreover, I believe that if I know others in the group share my
experience, I would feel more at ease. When I think about the instillation of hope, I

Colosseum Architecture
The Roman Colosseum is a prime example of an important architectural building that has not only
withstand the test of time, but also has had a major impact on how we perceive buildings in the
modern world. According to britannica, construction on this building started around 70 AD and
currently still stands in Rome, Italy. The historic that is held within the Colosseumallows for art
historian to study and also criticize it as well. Big ideas such as, how the artist manipulate the
material or how the art represents tradition as well as change are aspects that are accounted for
when criticizing art such as the Colosseum. To start, we are going to talk about how the
Colosseum was built and how it was composed during the time. As stated before, the Colosseum
started construction around 70 AD and was completed by 80 AD. According to Gardner s Art
Through The Ages, the Colosseum was built using mostly concrete since it was the most widely
utilize material during the time period. Inside the Colosseum or the amphitheatre as it was also
called, it situated approximately 50,000 spectators according to Britannica. It was additionally
noted on Britannica that the Roman used retractable velarium or awning, in order to shield
spectators from the sun. These awning were moved by sailors that were located around the
Colosseum. The seats that spectators were situated in, were held up by complex system of barrel
vaulted corridors. Around the Colosseum were 76 gateways, which made it easy for

Why Television Is The Extension Of Human Senses Along With...
Introduction In this day and age, television is seen as the most useful technology in the world
where we get enough information, entertainment and knowledge. People believe that it is more
preferable to have a television rather than to watch a live play in the theatre due to the freedom of
relaxation and high level of participation. In this essay, Marshall McLuhan s technology is the
extension of human senses along with Walter Benjamin s reproduction of art would be analyzed.
The main of this essay is to analyze two theoretical concepts and compare them to one another in
relation to televisionand also how these two theoretical concepts would approach television as a
technology. Television is a machine with a screen, which is used for... Show more content on

Then in 1906, Philo Taylor Farnsworth who was twenty one years old at that time invented
electrical Television on September 7th, 1927. During that time, electrical television was still black
and white; later on colour television was first introduced in the United States in 1953. Television
moved from just news and silent films to soap operas, cartoons, music videos and other types of
informational and entertainment things which influences us positively and negatively.
Theories
Marshall McLuhan, who was a Canadian communication theorist, was very much interested in
technology and how it shapes the advanced modern society. His very famous theory was the medium
is the message which means that the resource used or mode through which they are presenting
shows the message, not really the content. This theory then leads to how technology is seen as an
extension to human senses. McLuhan stated, Media have powerful effects on societies. Moreover,
media become extensions of ourselves; extensions of our human senses (Laughey, 2010, p. 33). Just
like the way our eyes see, our nose smell, our skin feels and our other senses have their function,
McLuhan emphasis the fact that technology is the extension of our psychological, social and
intellectual (inner) senses. In relation to Television as a technology, McLuhan would agree that
technology is an extension to our human sense due to the fact that in recent days it is something that
is used everyday. Humans use

The Value Of College Education
The mindset of young people today is that school is, above all, a chore rather than an opportunity
to grow and be free. Today s youth will complain about classes being too demanding, but at the
same time continue to complain because there are no enjoyable courses. Schools are intended to
create a space where students can feel comfortable and confident enough to learn what they need to
live successful lives. However, this is not the case, as many students growing up, seem to be less
passionate about their actual education, and instead, are centered on the overall effect that comes
from receiving a higher education. Since currently job security and financial prosperity have been
so heavily linked with a college education or degree, young adults are strongly encouraged to go to
university. This leads them to have a desperation in order to succeed to ensure that future employers
will be tended to hire them because of their supposed academic abilities. This would then contribute
to the conclusion that to ensure the success of young adults, educational institutions need students
to see the value in their work ethic and the institution at a young age to then later apply this
mentality into the continuation of their education.
Lynda Barry talks to her readers that the school environment has the ability to provide its students
with a space to escape personal problems, like unstable homes. She expresses her belief that without
these foundations many young people, like herself, would

Summary Of Fahrenheit 451, By Aldous Huxley
We love ourselves to the point of idolatry; but we also intensely dislike ourselvesВЁ (web). In his
youth Aldous studied science, which he tied into his writing. Because of this, he was denoted as a
serious writer and one of the few that could so aforesaid. Huxley lost and regained some of his
sight and still managed to write phenomenal work. And lastly, as a kid, he stood out, which
foreshadows his success. Aldous Huxleywas born to an English writer, Leonard Huxley. His
mother, Julia Arnold, was a relative to a prominent essayist and nineteenth century poet, Matthew
Arnold. In his family, as well, were people of scientific tradition and English literature. Because
his accomplished family, Huxley received a polished education and became an avid student in his
studies. He dreamed of being a doctor and studying medicine, but his ambition faded away when he
caught an eye infection that left him almost wholly blind. He then sought out for a doctor, who
restored most of his eyesight. He was educated in science and literature. He stuck with what he
knew and went into the field of composition. Since he studied science beforehand, he was able to
supplement his writing with the current scientific discoveries. Published in 1947, Science, Liberty,

It was a depicted a story of a dictator who would not let the residents of his city read books. In
fact, he sent firefighters to burn them to the ground if he found out a resident was keeping them.
This author and Huxley both had similar ideas about the government abusing their power to gain
and retain it. Unlike Science, Liberty, and Peace , most of the people in the town of Fahrenheit 451
were ignorant and did not realize that they were being misused. Similarly, Bradbury symbolized his
ideology through the main character, Guy Montag. Montag was a fireman who did not put out fires,

Evolution Of American Foreign Diplomacy To Monroe s...
1.Trace the evolution of American foreign diplomacy from Washington s isolationism to Monroe s
interventionist policies.
Throughout history, George Washington and James Monroe generated many different foreign
policies that helped flourish America across the world. During George Washington s presidency, the
country had a hard time trying to gain economic power. The country was going through a tough
time trying to gain money, because the idea of trading was just not working out. Under James
Monroe s presidency, he created the Monroe Doctrine, which allowed the United States to warn the
Western Hemisphere that the U.S. would not allow for the countries in Europe to expand
colonization. I will explain the presidents in between these two presidents, while also including
them.
The United States was trying to expand its trading options during the late 1770s on into the 1780s
with European nations. The U.S. had trouble with this because the country was already going
failing economically. The idea was to try to avoid conflict with any nation if possible. The view of
isolationism comes from the idea of trying to have interference with the European nations, but also
trying to avoid conflict. Washington sent John Jay over to Great Britain to try negotiate a plan for
America to trade in the Mediterranean without conflict. Washington hosted a conference in 1785,
he wanted to discuss trade regulations between the states of Virginia and Maryland. The convention
was to be brought up

The reform process started in the early 90s has given the industry a great opportunity. Not only must the sector become more efficient it must also identify sectors having growth opportunities and devise strategies to move savings into these sectors. 1.1 Current Scenario Currently, the overall banking in India is considered as fairly mature in terms of supply, product range and reach even though reach in rural India still remains a challenge for the private sector banks. Well computerized private sector banks are beginning to compete seriously with the nationalized banks. They aim at a profitable and wealthy part of the market and, in contrast to the nationalized banks, do not recognize any social responsibilities to small account holders or to a rural and semi urban clientele. Almost 80% of the business are still controlled by Public Sector Banks (PSBs). PSBs are still dominating the commercial banking system. The banking system is facing the challenges with stiff competition and advancement of technology, the services provided by banks have become more easy and convenient. The competitive character has been promoted by facilitating the entry of foreign banks. The country is flooded with foreign banks and their ATM stations. Efforts are being put to give a satisfactory service to customers. Phone banking and net banking are introduced. The entire system has become more convenient ad swift. • 3. Ohio Government Benefits Ohio has so much potential. Property is cheap, taxes are cheap, the colleges are cheaper than most, but people are fleeing the state at alarming rates. There is only one reason that comes to mind for this. The state government. It sounds narrow, I know, but everything the state government does, affects this state, and our lives drastically. An example of this would be College Credit Plus, which is helping students tremendously, or the Commercial Activity Tax, or CAT, which is driving small businesses out of the state, or even how Ohiostill hasn t legalized recreational marijuana. I know you can t fix who is in our state government, but there are things our state government, and the people of Ohio can do in order to better the state. Ohio... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The funding for public education is based on the grounds of property tax. Which, again, is incredibly stupid because Ohio s property taxes are so low. A better way to fund public education would be to legalize marijuana. Marijuana is legal in Ohio, but only for medical use. It would be so much more profitable if it was legal for recreational use also. Not to mention, the people who do marijuana would stop being thrown in jail. Which is my main beef with it. The federal government paints marijuana as this terrible drug, Compared to those who don t use marijuana, those who frequently use large amounts report the following: lower life satisfaction, poorer mental health, poorer physical health, more relationship problems. People also report less academic and career success. For example, marijuana use is linked to a higher likelihood of dropping out of school. It s also linked to more job absences, accidents, and injuries (National Institute of Drug Abuse). Look, I really don t care how high people get off of marijuana, they can smoke until they don t know their own name. It makes me mad that people are getting thrown in jail over simply having marijuana on them, while people die of lung cancer from smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes are even popularized by the media, not demonized like marijuana is. It s ridiculous. According to Tax Foundation in 2016, A mature ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It started in 1467 and went for 136 years and only ended when all the clans unified under the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1603. This period definitely had a large effect in the making of modern Japan because it was a time of growing culture and strong economics. I propose to include Russia in the current coalition, led by the United States, which also include Australia, Bahrain, Canada, France, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom. There will have to be negotiations in order to get Russia to cooperate so they do not go rogue and bomb targets that are supported by the West and other countries in the coalition. By having Russia in the coalition and working with the United States, there will be a greater oversight of their operations and more transparency among the nations. This will help with making strategic attacks so ISIL can be degraded and destroyed and also so the Assad regime will finally relinquish power to a democratic government. There also must be targeted strikes upon ISIL s main sources of income: oil reserves. Although this may harm potential future capabilities of Syria or Iraq to drill for oil, it will severely disrupt the income of ISIL so that they will not be able to buy the resources necessary to fight against the governments and to maintain the territory which it has already conquered. • 8. Nf1 s Pathogenesis Essay On the one hand, it is critically important to itemize and understand the inter relationships of the various elements of NF1 on their own. On the other hand, realizing how those elements relate to the respective ages of the persons with each of the several NF disorders, may also contribute to their individual health care and to the understanding of the disorder s pathogenesis in more general terms. For example, virtually everyone with NF1 will manifest cafГ© au lait spots (CLS) in the first year of life, while an NF2 vestibular schwannoma may not be obvious until the affected person s3rd decade or later. And persons affected by Schwannomatosis may only develop problems that appear well beyond childhood and are much more non specific, such as pain without an otherwise apparent cause. Reliance on clinical symptoms and signs is at least laudable, and, I would say, commendable. Nonetheless, in at least some problem cases, resort to genetic analyses may be especially contributory, specifically assessing mutations in or deletions (loss) of the NF1 locus on the long arm of human chromosome 174 , the NF2 locus on the long arm of human ... Also, as a teenager, Booth had a fortune teller predict his future. When she looked at the may crossed lines on his palms she became worried and predicted he would die young but famous. Both of these prophecies were fulfilled in Booth s life. At the White House, just days before his assassination, Lincoln had a dream. In the dream, he had died been shot and killed and was lying in a large curtained coffin in the Green Room. This too came true. In response to these occurrences, I cannot really judge whether they are true or false. I generally consider supernatural events to be unlikely, though I would not deem them impossible. Considering the specific events in the story however, I believe the word in the flames and the supposed fortune actually specifically influenced Booth s life, instead of being signs of divine future seeing. • 12. Reflection Paper On Teaching A Lesson I prepared for these lessons first by thinking carefully over how I was going to teach a specific concept and what I was going to need. I did this several days before I actually began teaching the concepts. Each day I found the items I would need for that day s lesson and had it in an easily accessible place. Since this was my first week teaching I did not have previous experience to go off of from this class. However, I did have an understanding that preparation is key because of previous experiences giving instruction and not being prepared by thinking out exactly how I would go about teaching the lesson. Depending on the day I had different sets. On Monday, I created a picture graph for the students to work with about the student s favorite sport. I believe this was an effective set because it got the students moving and excited about sharing while learning something new. On Tuesday, I did not really have a set. Because it was a test day I jumped right into reviewing what was learned through the last few lessons. On Wednesday, I almost had a set, but since it was not using interactive material, it failed to grab the attention as much as I had wanted. On Thursday, I used a story for my set and felt that because I was having the students interact with the book by giving answers, it captured their attention and interest. Current Health Status of Migrant Farm Workers in Canada Introduction As a result of poor economy which led to extreme poverty and massive unemployment, migrant farm workers are forced to migrate from their home countries to different developed countries to work in order to make a living for themselves as well as their families. Every year, thousands of migrant farm workers from Mexico, Jamaica, Guatemala, Thailand etc. come into Canada (Bauder, Preibisch, Sutherland, Nash, 2002). They work in almost all the provinces particularly in Ontario, and have become an important instrument in the economic viability of agriculture in parts of Canada due to the fact that Canadians are not very attracted to agricultural work. The migrant farm workers are managed by two distinct federal programs: Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (SAWP) and Pilot Project for Occupations Requiring Lower Level of Formal Training . (Pysklywec, McLaughlin, Tew, Haines 2011). In theory, these workers are entitled to and covered by same healthcoverage that every other Canadian in the province is entitled to. However, in practice, the reverse is the case; these workers have almost no access to health care facilities and suffer various health issues ranging from skin diseases up to sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV. • 19. George Orwell s Animal Farm American Journalist Carl Hiaasen once said, Good satire comes from anger. It comes from a sense of injustice, that there are wrongs in the world that need to be fixed (www.brainyquote.com). In George Orwell s novel, Animal Farm, Orwell fuels his inspiration for the novel from his anger and dislike towards the misuse of governmental power, and the corruption that occurs when the government has too much power. The pigs in this novel represent a government s leaders and the effects of what happens when a government gains too much power and influence over its people. The pigs, especially their leader Napoleon, misuse their power and use it to take advantage of the animal with a lower intelligence level. Orwell satirizes Napoleon by giving him the characteristics of a ruthless dictator who uses education, violence, and rhetoric to control the other animals on the farm. The pigs use rhetoric to convince the animals to adopt Napoleon as their leader and remain loyal to him. The animals on the farm spend their lives being a slave to the farm. Napoleon, however, abuses the animals loyalty, and even though they spend every day of their lives trying to please him, they are never good enough for Napoleon. They are constantly reminded that Bravery is not enough... loyalty and obedience are more important (55). According to the Guinness Book of World Records, she holds the record of being the most rewarded female artist of all time. • 24. Baptism And The Lord s Supper Essay According to David Scaer, Thomas Baima comprehensively understands the presence of Christ in the Lord s Supper within the trinitarian context that includes the three divine persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The trinitarian communion is first communicated with the thought that Jesus is equally divine and man and then in all the sacraments. Therefore, Lutherans can declare that god and humanity are united sacraments. According to Thomas Baima, whose proposition David Scaer explores, baptism is a sacrament that is irreplaceable as it remains with the believer for the rest of their life. It is therefore evident that the ritual of baptism is a base upon which other sacraments may be built. From the idea of baptism as a sacrament emerges the concept of sacrament being defined as a sacrifice. The initial label as sacrifice allows the definition of sacrament to also extend to anamnesis, which is the recalling or reminiscence of a historical event. Baima provides two examples to accentuate the definition: the baptism and the Lord s Supper. In the baptism, the people participate in the death and the resurrection of Christ. The death of Christ represents his sacrifice made for the purpose of washing away the sins of his followers. In return, the followers receive the sacrament of the sacrifice of Christ. In the same manner, the reception of Christ s blood and body during the communion signifies the sacrifice of the Christ which is then received as the sacrament to the ... HNG was formed in 1920, providing gas to retail customers in Houston. The company sold its retail gas business in 1920 and ventured into the gas exploration and production business. In the year 1984, HNG had $3.7 billion in assets, over $2 billion in sales and booked profits of $123 million. InterNorth was a natural pipeline company located in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1984 InterNorth had revenues of $7.5 billion. The reason behind the merger was that InterNorth faced the threat of a buyout by corporate raiders as it had low debt and high revenues. The conservative operations and low debt of InterNorth made it a target for corporate raiders who planned to use its cash reserves and borrowing capacity to extract funds for themselves. On the other hand HNG Company had borrowed heavily to expand its pipelines in the Florida and California markets. Therefore merging with Houston Natural Gas made perfect sense as it fended off corporate raiders. Today s youth will complain about classes being too demanding, but at the same time continue to complain because there are no enjoyable courses. Schools are intended to create a space where students can feel comfortable and confident enough to learn what they need to live successful lives.
