Asset Light Strategies Are the Only Way Ahead for...
Topic 6: Asset light strategies are the only way ahead for international hospitality companies.
In the topic asset light strategies refers to international hospitality companies owning less assets.
Assets are items of economic value owned by an individual or corporation, especially that which
could be converted to cash (www.investorwords.com). The various different strategies international
hospitality companies use in order to lighten their assets could be by franchising, management
contracts and offshoring (also known as outsourcing). Each of these strategies will be explained in
depth throughout the essay. The reason why businesses would want to have fewer assets is because
they want to get out of having asset heavy balance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The operator runs the hotel for a fee according to specified terms negotiated with the owner; the
most common of these terms are described below in more detail (www.hospitalitynet.org). However
by hospitality companies using management contracts to run companies then they can gain from
economies of scale, gain brand recognition and obtain a global reservation system. Alternatively
there are some downfalls to management contracts such as conflict of interest (Outcome and
behaviour control).
Outsourcing is a business process term for what has literally become known as hiring a consultant,
independent contractor, or freelancer to do a specific task or tasks for an organization in which the
organization either does not have the time or the expertise to do on their own
(www.internetbasedmoms.com). Outsourcing is commonly said to be the same as offshoring but
with the increase in globalisation the distinction between the two has and will become less
overtime. Outsourcing is commonly used in business segments such as real estate management,
human resources, facilities, accounting, information technology and in this case in the hospitality
industry. In the hospitality industry, more specifically in hotels functions such as Reservation

Essay On The Sumerians
It started with the sumerians and it ends with the neo babylonians. The sumerians were
vanquished by the akkadians, the akkadians by the babylonians. But it didn t stop there the
assyrians soon rose to power. It was not to stay, the babylonians would have revenge on those
who made their downfall. Through the thought of sweet revenge the babylonians rose up with a
new name, the neo babylonians. All of these empires thrived for a time, until that time came to an
end. These great empires all came to a downfall. Even though I won t talk about them the persians
came next in this line. The first civilization that came to be in mesopotamia was the sumerians.
They started in the zagros mountains and faced a problem. To solve it some stayed in the
mountains and some moved to the plains. Although the plains were not full of rainbows and
unicorns. I don t even think there was enough rain for rainbows. The plains held another problem.
To this they made a solution, which brought another problem and so on. Looking over all the
empires they may have been one of the weakest. That was their downfall. The Akkadians stormed
down from the zagros mountains and swiftly defeated the sumerians by taking out Ur first. But
they could not do this just like that. The Akkadians were trained by sargon a powerful military
strategist. Sargon was a very strict... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Incident Command Systems Essay
As fall began in 1970, California had experienced practically no rainfall for many months,
humidity levels dropped to being practically non existent, and the earth was scored from the
raging summer heat (Rowley, n.d.). These conditions provided ample fuel for a wildfire that
would burn for 13 days before being beaten back and extinguished by firefighters. Initially, it
appeared controlling the fire spread would be done easily and quickly. However, multiple fires
spawned rapidly into large fires that overwhelmed the local resources. Lack of communication,
communication and application of skill became quickly evident as a major flaw in the control and
command of such a large event. Prior to 1970 the Incident Command Systems did not exist, but...

Essentially, an Incident Command Systems provides the basis of information in which the local,
regional, or state response organization use to control the efficiency and functionality of response to
an event or disaster. ICS encompasses five major systems which are, command, operations,
planning, logistics and finance (Haddow, et. al., 2013). There are also three types of Incident
Command: single, unified and area. A Single Incident Command involves one area, with one event,
and one Incident Commander. Unified Command involves an event that spans jurisdictional
boundaries and, therefore, warrants involvement of multiple Incident Command Systems and
communication and coordination between respective Incident Commanders. Area Command spans,
or has potential to, a very large area, such as a public health emergency as suggested by Haddow,
Bullock and Coppola (n.d.). Since its development, the ICS has proven to be a useful and valuable
tool in emergency management. By following guidelines established within an ICS, individual and
/or multiple agencies can more quickly, efficiently and appropriately respond to disaster and
emergency events. The continued use of the Incident Command Systems will aid in the success,
competence and effectiveness of the emergency management

The Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction Many people in this world live their lives without any aspirations towards
greatness. They think that they don t stand a chance of fulfilling any of the dreams or goals they
might have. Their idea of dreams coming true are far from their imagination and stick around with
the absurd idea of keeping their feet in the ground and stop day dreaming or even think about it.
What they don t know is that by just thinking about it, they re much closer to their dreamthan what
they thoughtthey were. There are several steps to follow though, steps that will make you reach
your goal a lot faster with just using your mindand that are what I d like to demonstrate you.

Basically every thought you have will contribute to what what s going on in your mind, whether
you want it or not if you think about it you ll attract it. Some people say that this is where the
saying Be careful with what you wish for comes from. It doesn t matter if it s for good or bad by
having it in your head you just might get it.
The law of attraction has been with us always, whether you knew about it or not (Byrne 58).
Where we could see it a lot is with children. Take me for example, when I was little I used to
dream about going to Disney World. I would see the commercials and I would see myself there
also. Playing, meeting my favorite characters, getting on all the rides and just simply having
fun. I would pray and ask my parents to take me. Down deep inside of me I knew I was going to
be able to go one day, I never lost hope. Until one day my aunt decided to organize a trip for the
whole family and I just couldn t believe it! After all that wishing and hoping I finally got to go
and made my biggest dream come true. That s exactly what a person needs to do, have faith that
you re going to receive it and just like a child, don t worry on the how and when to receive it. Just
wait and have that certainty of being able to have it at the right time at the right moment.
What also keeps a lot of people away from their goals is their fear. Fear of hoping and day dream

Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling
Homeschooling was first introduced in the 1972. In a case Supreme Court case Wisconsin vs.
Yoder they fought over the fact that public schools were violating their religious beliefs. The court
decided to rule in favor of religious freedom, instead of favoring the states who wanted to require
public education for everyone. The ruling that the Supreme Court made did not allow the
homeschooled parents to teach the kids however the want. The government was still allowed to
intervene to check the child s mental and physical health (Homeschooling, 2017). The main reason
the homeschooling began was because of religious reason. Parents didn t want public education to
be forced onto their child, since it may of went against their religion. There are even more reasons
now to be homeschooled. It would be for religious reasons, or it could be for health reasons. Many
parents believe that when their child is being homeschooled they are getting a better, more
personalized education. Although homeschooling is seen as not being a viable alternative for
public school,it should be. Students who are homeschooled have more skills, and receive a better
education in primary school. This will help them greatly once they graduate high school, and go
onto college, and even in the workforce. HIghschooling should be a more prominent option for all
students. Although proponents say that homeschooling doesn t properly prepare children for the
future, homeschooling allows children to have a more

The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty is a worldwide marketing campaign. The aim of the
campaign is to create a world where beauty is a source of confidence, and not anxiety. The
campaign also wants to help the next generation of women develop a positive relationship with
the way they look. Throughout their advertisements dove have used a variety of women who
have a various range of body sizes, skin colours, heights and ethical backgrounds. Dove uses the
colour white significantly often dressing their models in white underwear or clothes. More than
so using white backgrounds and backdrops which seem to mimic their usual product colours
packaging and advertising theme. White usually symbolizing the message of purity, comfort and
happiness or is often seen as the colour of a virgin. The use of the selection of women compared
to regular stereotypical models gives the viewer a reinforced purpose to empathize with the
campaign. Dove has used various women, as this doesn t narrow their target market when
advertising. The use of variety broadens their campaign in order to gain a response and interest
from their market buyers, which are generally women.
The women throughout this advertisement are stood very closely together with

Japanese Furniture and Interior Design and Shiro Kuramata
Shiro Kuramata (1934 91) was a Japanese designer best known for his furniture and interior
design, which gave the modern culture a creative voice. Many will identify with the chair he
designed for the Vitra Design Museum in 1987 titled, How High the Moon (fig 1). The piece
was inspired by an old jazz song and is part of the permanent collection at New York s Museum of
Modern Art. It is designed as a spacious armchair with woven threads of expanded metal; the
piece weighs little more than a leaf, and can withstand robust use . His other works include entire
storefronts designed for his friend Issey Miyake, for whom Kuramata created over 100 retail
interiors . One of these works is Bergdorf Goodman in New York (fig 2.) designed in 1984 ,... Show

identity for an object previously deemed only a chair. Shiro Kuramta was born Yoshiji Sugiura
to parents Sei and Yoshiji on November 29, 1934, in Tokyo, Japan. As is sometimes the tradition
in Japan, Kuramata s father kept the name of his first wife, Chiyo Kuramata, even after she
passed and he remarried Sei. At the time of his birth his parents were living in the staff housing
at the Research Institute of Physic and Chemistry where his father worked . He was the
youngest of three girls and four boys, living in a very disciplined household, and began his
education when he was seven years old. Tokyo at this time was undergoing a change that would
allow it to catch up with the First World, and taking steps to become self sufficient in its
development of industries; educating engineers, scientists, architects, and designers. This interest
in the culture of the Western world and the technological advancements all lead to a policy of
modernization and fast pace advancement in which Kuramata was born into. Homes were
simplistic and there was an appreciation for empty space, another facet that can be seen in
Kuramata s work . The bombing of Pearl Harbor marked Japan s entry into World War II, and

Zombie Apocalypse Research Paper
Survival of the Adequately Prepared
Scientific advances such as genetic engineering have evolved to where almost any specimen
imaginable can be created. Therefore, there is nothing standing in the way of someone creating
hazardous killing machines, that can infect the humans around them. This means the likelihood of a
zombie apocalypse is greater than most people would like to believe. If this horrendous event
was to occur it is immensely important to know the precautionary steps. During a zombie
apocalypse preparation, protection, and basic necessities are needed in order to survive.
Preparation plays one of the most crucial parts in the survival of an apocalypse. First you must
make a well structured plan, and organize a group of people that can be trusted. Then assign each
person a specific role that is important in the groups survival. The main thing to be considered is
the hideout location. Find a place that is away from large cities, such as, the mountains. Zombies
prefer areas where there are an abundant amount of people, so it will be safer in dispersed areas.

The appropriate protection gear is vital in this event. The spread of the disease that caused the
apocalypse could possibly be airborne. Therefore, respirators will be very essential. They help
filter the oxygen received from any airborne diseases, dust, or toxic fumes. Hazmat suits are similar
to respirators but they are more advanced. These suits provide protection from extreme
temperatures, as well as, chemicals and nuclear agents. Also, it is vital to have weapons to protect
yourself during attacks. An individual must consider that the zombies are drawn to loud noises like
gunfire. Weapons, such as, bows and arrows or guns with silencers would suit the situation better.
These precautions and equipment will keep your body

Comparing The Foundation Of Orthodoxy And The Canon
The Foundation of Orthodoxy and the Canon For years, the dispute about what is fact and what is

denominations that are under the Christianity banner. Under the banner of Christianity there are
Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Apostolic, Methodist, Seventh Day Adventist, Church of God in
Christ (C.O.G.I.C), and Lutheran. Now, even though each of these denominations call themselves
Christians, their beliefs about the Christian kingdom are different. Some of the differences include
Catholics, who believe that you must confess your sins to the priest, even though the Bible, the

Now, at that time, I was only 12 years old, God had not endowed me with those gifts, but when I

research using the Online Library, but my results continued to come back not found, but I was
able to go on line and research some things regarding the denominational differences. I was able
to find an online article that discussed the wrongs of denominationalism. In the article the writer
stated that the definition for denominationalism is the tendency to separate into religious
denominations (Copeland 2001). By this article, denominations are clearly non scriptural,
because God is about unity, for as Paul states in the book of Ephesians 4:4 6, There is one body,
and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Bibliography Copeland,

Aspects Of Arctic Sovereignty
Environmental Aspects of Arctic Sovereignty 1.Introduction The Arctic has the world s largest
unused source of oil and it is getting international attention because of its extremely value resources
(Crawford, Hanson Runnalls, 2008). According to Digman (2011) the Arctic s commercial interest
mostly rely on drilling, mining and transportation development. However, Arctic s development not
only will lead to economical profits but also will bring international conflicts. Due to this, a
Sovereignty by the five Arctic s coastal countries such as Canada, Denmark, Norway, Russia and
United States is essential. Moreover, Arctic s climate change is happening right now due to human
induced factors (Isted, 2009) and Arctic s development will lead to environmental damage
(Johnston, 2012). The effects of this combination will have significant global consequences and
could end in an environmental catastrophe (Crawford et al., 2008). The purpose of this report is to
discuss the Arctic s resources and developments as well as the environmental impacts of the Arctic s
development and climate change. In addition,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, regardless of this situation, economic activities are increasing due to global warming

The Theory Of A Paradigm Shift
Traditionally, the scientific community viewed progress developing cumulatively within a
framework of accepted facts. However in The Structure of Scientific Revolution, Thomas S. Kuhn
argues science also advances episodically rather than only continuously. Kuhn creates the concept
of paradigm shifts that changed science by transforming fundamental structures. Although Kuhn
only attributes paradigms shifts to natural sciences, many have applied this idea to other fields. In
Discipline and Punish, Michel Foucault analyzes the rapid shifts in penal systems and the larger
social implications of such change. Foucault attributes the rise of prisons due to modifications in
perceptions about punishment and power. These reformations mirror paradigm shifts, since they
fundamentally change existing frameworks. Both Kuhn and Foucault demonstrate the importance
of structural changes in the history of ideas. To prove this claim, I will explain Kuhn s idea of a
paradigm shift and relate it to Foucault s analysis of how modern prisons emerged. In order to
understand paradigm shifts, one must look at normal science and how its impact on the scientific
community. Kuhn defines normal science as research firmly based upon one or more past scientific
achievements, achievements that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as
supplying the foundation for its further practice (Kuhn 10). Normal science builds facts and
knowledge within a set of guidelines, or paradigms.

The Culture Of The Word Culture
There are many laity use of the word culture that gets thrown around in day to day conversation
amongst our peers. Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a
daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who
feel that we all live our own individual unique culturein our lives. However, being that culture is
such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try
and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of
culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes
embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular
definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. Their way of day to day
lifestyle, geographical terrain, as well as their militaryhistory can all be analyzed through their
culture as well as provide information in terms of our current military jargon for the benefit of the
United States Army.
Culturally, Okinawans separate themselves from the association of the Japanese culture, even
though they are still considered a territory of Japan. The differences in their landscape, their way of
life, language, and even their societal infrastructure are the basis of their adamant separation from
Japan. Its geographical complexities are also what make Okinawa unique from its neighboring

Recycling Essay
Recycling
During the early 1970s, as communities across the United States saw their landfills filling up,
attention turned to alternative methods of garbage disposal, such as incineration and recycling.
While incineration proved to be a thorny issue due to its toxic ash byproduct, recycling was
embraced by Americans as an effective way to offset rising garbage production rates.
Today, demand for recycled products is beginning to match supply, and the percentage of waste
going into landfills and incinerators is decreasing steadily. In 1970, when Americans produced 121
million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW), three quarters went directly into landfills, one fifth

Many if not most of the products we use on a daily basis are made of recyclable materials, including
glass, aluminum, paper, steel, plastic, scrap tires and used oil. And the demand for goods made from
recycled products, despite a lot of ups and downs during the 1980s, has never been higher thanks to
a combination of well conceived industrial/commercial applications and much needed government
purchasing mandates. Indeed, the existence of markets for recyclables has contributed significantly
to recycling s success as a waste disposal alternative.
What makes recycling especially unique is its implementation by local people for local people. In
regards to MSW management, the federal government is relatively hands off, and state
governments have focused more of their attention on landfill and incineration options. As a result,
local communities have come together to initiate recycling efforts; the percolation of their
enthusiasm has led to the widespread acceptance and even encouragement of recycling at both the
state and federal levels.
With recovered materials demanding higher market prices and curbside collection and commercial
recovery on the rise, it is not unrealistic for Americans to expect to see nationwide recycling rates
of thirty five to fifty percent by the turn of

The Aging Process Essays
The Aging Process As we grow in to adulthood, many things start to change in our life. Aging is
an unavoidable process, beginning at conception and ending with death. The process does not
proceed at a uniform rate all over the body. As we age, the organ systems of individuals age at
different rates. Our body gradually slows down in early adult life. These changes are not apparent
until perhaps 50 years of age as they are not perceptible. The skeletal system gradually changes
over the years until it is porous and brittle, as the bones lose calcium and their density. This may be
more pronounced in women with menopause. These losses are multifactioral and involve age
related changes (reduce CA absorption, increased bone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thyroid gland often becomes lumpy (nodular). Metabolism gradually declines, beginning
around age 20. Parathyroid hormone affects calcium and phosphate levels affect the strength of
the bones. Some hormones are decreased, some unchanged, and some increased with age. Female
reproductive system has a number of changes. The cessation of menopause is an obvious sign of
aging. A transition period, called the climacteric, lasts for many years before and after a woman s
last menstrual period. Hormone levels change, physical changes in the woman s entire
reproductive tract, and psychological changes. The intricate relationship changes occur between
the ovarian hormones and those produced by the pituitary gland (in the brain). The ovaries stop
releasing eggs (ova), and menstrual periods stop. When hormone levels fall, the vaginal walls
become less elastic, thinner, and less rigid. The external genital tissue decreases and thins (atrophy
of the labia). The pubic muscles lose tone, and the vagina, uterus, or urinary bladder can fall out of
position. A prolapsed of any of these structures increases the risk of problems such as urine leakage.
Decreasing amount of estrogen produced by the ovaries may cause hot flashes, mood disturbances,
headaches, and sleep disturbances are common symptoms that occur during menopause. Male

Judith Jarvison Thomson On Abortion
In this paper I will discus and examine Judith Jarvis Thomson s view upon abortion as stated in
her argument A Defense of Abortion . I will explain her view on the issue and look deeper into her
supporting arguments she included in her essay. I will also explain whether I agree with her
statements. I would also discuss whether the person can agree with my statements and reason why
having an abortionmake you in moral.
In her opening statement she first starts of stating a fetus is consider to be a human being or a
person from the moment of conception. They have the right to life just like any other person does.
In lines 1 10 Most opposition to abortion relies on the premise that the fetus is a human being, a
person, from the moment of conception. ( Thomson, Judith Jarvis. A Defense of Abortion. Judith
Jarvis Thomson: A Defense of Abortion, Oct. 1991,spot.colorado.edu/~heathwoo/Phil160,Fall02

human being or an adult, to what makes us a human being or an adult. In her first example she
talks about an acorn falling from an oak tree automatically being consider to be an oak tree or to
be still labeled as an acorn. In lines 10 14 Similar things might be said about the development of
an acorn into an oak trees, and it does not follow that acorns are oak trees, or that we had better say
they are. ( Thomson, Judith Jarvis. A Defense of Abortion. Judith Jarvis Thomson: A Defense of

cattle feed from a CAFO were Chicken manure, cattle manure, chocolate, stale pastry, cement
dust, molasses, candy, urea, hooves, feathers, meat scraps, fish meal, pasta, peanut skins,
brewery wastes, cardboard, corn silage, and pesticides (49). These ingredients could have terrible

coli people should not eat CAFO beef. E. coli is very dangerous if people get it; it is not worth
the risk to eat CAFO beef. For example, U.S. researchers have found that high grain diets make
E. coli more virulent (Smith). Considering that a cow s diet in a CAFO is loaded with extra
grain E. coli will definitely be at a higher risk. Nancy Smith said, When cattle are fattened on
grain, their digestive tracts become unusually acidic and kill off most of the E. coli. The
bacteria that survive are those that have adapted themselves to an acidic environment (Smith).
When Americans eat this beef people will get the resilient bacteria and become very sick or
worse. A writer for the Chicago Tribune, Stephen Hedges, said, Tyson tests all raw beef

1) The heart has four chambers, associated with the pulmonary and systemic circuit. It starts from
the systemic circuit by receiving blood to the right atrium and passing it to the right ventricle and
then pumps into the pulmonary circuit. Then it collects it at the left atrium and empties into the left
ventricle which pumps blood back to the systemic circuit. Arties carry blood away from the heart
and veins return blood to the heart.
The pericardial sac is also known as the fibrous pericardium, which surrounds the heart. It consists
of a dense network of collagen fibers, stabilizes the position of the heart and connected to the
vessels within the mediastinum. The pericardium has subdivided into two portions of the visceral
pericardium

A Case Of The Causeway Bay Bookstore Essay
Five associates, including a co owner, of publisher Mighty Current and its Causeway Bay
Bookstore went missing in January 2016. Known for gossipy titles about political scandals and
other sensitive issues about the Communist Party of China, the Causeway Bay Bookstore attracts
lots of mainland Chinese tourists in Hong Kong. Therefore, when the news of the bookshop s
workers has gone missing came out, the general HK public felt shocked and appalled. Pro
democracy lawmakers in HK believe that these booksellers were kidnapped and smuggled to
mainland Chinafor political investigation. Book sold at the Causeway Bay Bookstore are banned
in the mainland, but are available in HK, where freedom of the press and other civil liberties are
enjoyed by its citizens, privileges that are unseen in mainland China( Hong Kong Unsettled, 2016).
Moreover, China s own police force, called public security, does not have rights to act in HK
territory, because HK self governs with a different set of laws, and its own police force, and
special ops, but no army, nor are foreign embassies allowed to be set up in HK (consulates are set
up instead), which causes the HK people who enjoys their degree of independence from the
mainland more worried, concerned, and terrified by such event of potential suppression of freedom
in HK, and they see it as an attempt of hegemony, both political and cultural, by the mainland China
to HK.

The Success And Success Of Sir Robert Gordon Menzies
Sir Robert Gordon Menzies was an Australian politician who served two terms as Prime Minister,
from 1939 to 1941, and, from 1949 until 1966. This amounts to a total of eighteen years, which is
a record for time serving as Australian prime minister (WEB). In this essay, I shall delineate and
analyse the secrets to Menzies success, which I attribute to several factors, many of which were
beyond the control of Menzies himself. Even before entering politics, Menzies developed talents
that would serve him well for political success. Namely, during his time studying and practising
law, Menzies developed a particularly strong oratorical ability which benefited him throughout his
career. Additionally, it is clear from his days as a student that Menzies... Show more content on

It was at this time that Murdoch once again threw his support and influence behind Menzies,
which can be seen in an article that he wrote for the Herald which was titled This persecution of
Menzies should cease (MURDOCH 1943a p4 GRIFFEN 5). The stinging electoral defeat
suffered by the UAP under Hughes leadership acted to further damage the reputation of Hughes
which saw Menzies regaining support from members of parliament, and Menzies once again
found himself as the leader of the UAP (GRIFFEN 5). From here, Murdoch set to work
promoting and trying to bring about the creation of a new political party, a unification of non
labour parties with could legitimately challenge the labour party (GRIFFEN 5). In the wake of the
1943 federal election, Murdoch commented in the Herald that the failed election campaign by non
labour parties deteriorated from a bad beginning to a wretched end and that no good government

The Impact Of The Declaration Of Independence
On July 2, 1776, John Adams wrote a letter to his wife Abigail, a date that will be the most
memorable epoch in the history of America (202). On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress
adopts the Declaration of Independence, marked as the official statement of the American position
(202). Thirteen of American colonies severed their political connection to Great Britain. The
Declaration summarized the colonists motivations for seeking freedom an independence. The
formal declaration of independence automatically established the new American revolutionary
government and officially declared war against Great Britain. Well, Gentlemen, Benjamin Franklin
told the Congress, we must now hang together, or shall most separately (203) The Declaration...

The war was last for seven years start from 1755 until 1763 (170). To end the bloody war, Treaty
of Paris was signed in February 1763. This treaty result s makes France lost its empire in North
America (176). The result as we can guess that the war will change the economic, political,
governmental, and the social relations between Britain, France, and Spain, their colonies and
colonists, and also with the native that live in the land that they claimed. Britain might have a
wonderful military success in winning the war, but because of the seven years war, they have so

Essay On Partisan Animosity
Why do political candidates, like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, sacrifice their morals and
alter the moral fabric of society by using dirty tricks and maneuvers, twisting the truth, and telling
outright lies? Partisan animosity has escalated to the point where, the simple two word comment,
a pen (Brandon), by a 14 year old, sparked an attack filled with vicious name calling and
animosity. Such is the case with Gabe Fleisher from Missouri, who posted the two word comment
as a response to the following tweet posted by Donald Trump, a billionaire businessman, and
Republican presidential candidate: Why is this reporter touching me as I leave news conference?
What is in her hand?? (Brandon).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, they are the norm, rather than the exception. The election of 1800 between Thomas
Jefferson and John Adams is one such campaign. Jefferson, through the use of James Callender,
a pamphleteer who was one of his supporters, used one of the oldest tricks against Adams:
spreading outright lies about his opponent. Callender alleged that Adams wanted to go to war
with France and also depicted him as a hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force of
a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman. (Freeman). Reputation soiled and
credibility destroyed, Adams was no match for Jefferson, who ended up winning the election.
Another example of a contentious presidential campaign occurred in 1964. Barry Goldwater was
running as the Republican nominee and had his campaign slogan, In your heart, you know he s
right. was altered by his Democratic foes into In your guts, you know he s nuts. (Kertscher). The
implication of mental instability did not do Goldwater any favors, and he ended up losing the
election. At times, the animosity and vitriol are such that physical violence has occurred, as is the
case of U.S. Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts. In 1856, three days after giving a speech
which criticized pro slavery southerners, Sumner was beaten on the Senate floor by U.S.
Representative Preston Brooks of South Carolina. As a result of the severe beating, Sumner was
not able to return to the Senate for three years (Freeman). These are but three examples of the
plethora of incidents caused when candidates or elected officials engage in sharply polarizing
discourse in the pursuit of their own

This retrospective study also looked at factors affecting vascular access. The study sampled 544
patients needing vascular access at a renal service of the University Hospital Valle de Hebron of
Barcelona between 1 January 1985 and 31 December 1997. This long time period (13years) makes
the study useful for measuring the duration of patency.
The aims of the study were clearly highlighted and were consistently referred to throughout the
study. Multiple factors were taken into account such as demographic characteristics of patients, the
site of VA, primary renal disease and duration of function.
Primary renal disease was categorised into: glomerular, interstitial, vascular cystic (ADPKD), or
diabetic nephropathy and others. This made it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the previous study, factors such as age, female gender, diabetes, catheter insertions before
dialysis and lack of maturation process were seen as possible factors that accounted for the failure
of Vascular Access.
Despite the sample size, the study cannot be representative to all populations because it was
undertaken in one hospital in Barcelona; other patient demographics such as race, socioeconomic
status were also not taken into consideration.
Due to the nature of the study being retrospective it was harder to control exposure and outcome.
The assessment of the patients was standardized; by using the same vascular surgeon to assess the
patients needing Vascular Access. However, the study failed to not mention how the other patient
data was collected thus increasing the number of confounding factors
Although statistical analysis was conducted and Confidence Intervals and P values were included
the main limitation was that there were no statistical analysis performed between AV fistulas and
AV grafts, this was because AV fistulas was the priority operation to perform unless other factors
deemed it not possible then an AV grafts would be created instead.
The study also recognised that confounding factors like vessel diameter could also contribute to for
such a high initial failure in radiocephalic fistulas but it was not directly measured. The study also
failed to also take into consideration late referrals that

High School Government And Politics Class
I remember a mixture of enthusiasm and dread prior to a visit from a Pennsylvania state
representative to my high school government and politics class. We were discussing local
educational funding and I had many questions for him about the topic. But more than anything I
did not want to embarrass myself. I went to bed early the previous night, and before class I
guzzled two cans of Monster energy drink. There was a safety pin in my pocket just in case. The
first few minutes of class I felt euphoric and was enthralled with the discussion on the local
political landscape. However, my energy quickly began to drain. I tried to focus on my notes
but after a half hour I was barely able to grip my pencil and saw that much of what I had written
was incoherent scribble. In desperation, I took the safety pin out of my pocket and frantically
began stabbing the palm of my hand. My efforts were for naught, because at some point I
completely fell asleep only to wake up five minutes before the lecture was over. This was a common
occurrence throughout my high schoolcareer but I was not correctly diagnosed with narcolepsy
until the spring of my senior year. As a result, much of my college experience was spent adjusting
to life with this diagnosis.
Under the care of Dr. Cantor at the Penn Sleep Center, I felt confident that I could finally be a
normal person. But I soon found that a medical diagnosis and treatment was not a literal cure all .

Installing A Realistic Wireless Sensor Network Setting
Abstract Hierarchical routing is a promising approach for point to point routing with very small
routing state. While there are many theoretical analyses and high level simulations demonstrating
its benefits, there has been little work to evaluate it in a realistic wireless sensor network setting.
Based on numerous proposed hierarchical routing infrastructures, we surveyed some hierarchical
clustering algorithms and briefly discussed them. Main purpose of this paper is to present some
recent hierarchical protocols and point out silent features of them. These routing protocols very
much benefit in prolonging network lifetime and save energy of sensornodes.

Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks
should be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently
emerged as a platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor
has an onboard radio that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the
advantages of wireless sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh
environments in which contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky,
inefficient and sometimes infeasible. Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly
in the area of interest by a relatively uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to
collectively form a network in an ad hoc manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and
increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Data collected from
sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime
can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node (or the last node) in the network depletes its
energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed to reduce useful energy consumption.
These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in the first class control the
transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while

girls ages 15 19 gave birth in 2013. Of these teenage pregnancies, 77% were accidental. Not being
married was popular among these teenagers, as 89% of them weren t (Teen Pregnancy Statistics,
2015). With teenagers having babies, you have to wonder, who is going to have to pay for the
kid if the teenager isn t well off. It was estimated that about 9.4 billion tax dollars were spent on
teenage pregnancy and childbirth (Teen Pregnancy Statistics, 2015). That is a huge amount of
money to be spending. More interestingly, however, is how being a teenage parent effects the
mother education wise. According to teenhelp.com, 50% of teenage mothers ages 15 19 get a
high school diploma, and only 38% of teenage mothers ages 15 17 end up with a high school

achieving a college degree (Teen Pregnancy Statistics, 2015). Both those numbers are scary to think

The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party
At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political
Party. Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the
Conservatives, with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed.
However, it soon became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were
unable to unite as one to make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an
important factor in the growth of Labour and the decline of the Liberals.
It seems that the decline of the Liberals began with several problems that can be traced back to pre
war times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom
women would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as
the Liberals refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue
was a constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their
evident reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to
resolve the issue proved to be a political embarrassment.
Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw
the most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike
action. Two reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to
the current social and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government
were to blame for this industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to
reverse the Osbourne judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which
was a great embarrassment to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union
used part of the fees to fund the Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were
determined to undermine the Labour

and personal commitment. Verbal and non verbal communication can help define the way in which
intercultural communication is conducted, and is of significance as it allows for individuals to
learn the differences that exist in the language of various cultures. Communication of any
magnitude, if fully achieved can be one of the most rewarding experiences, since by learning the
language one becomes familiar with the culture.
Language in the Black culture has been evolving since the early days of slavery. In those earlier
days slaves were not taught to read or write, so they developed their own language. This was
advantageous because the language allowed them to communicate and helped lead to the success of
the Underground Railroad. For that reason, the Language of the Black culture plays a major role in
the journey through history. The term Black English is sometimes referred to as African American
Vernacular English (AAVE) or Black Vernacular English (BVE) and is spoken in a variety

Pros And Cons Of Lincoln
Phillip Shaw Paludan, a Kentucky native, claims that President Abraham Lincoln deserves to be
considered the nation s greatest President because he faced the Civil War, our greatest national
trauma , and his actions both saved the Union and the lives of the slaves. To Paludan, Lincoln
understood that freedom for slaves was the indispensable means to saving the Union (Paludan 357);
Lincoln s actions as Commander and Chief and his oratory style achieved this freedom, which
preserved the unity of the nation. Lincoln expanded the role of Commander and Chief, because the
war demanded the expansion of the Executive Branch along with the expansion of Congress and
state governments. As Commander and Chief, Lincoln fought and won the Civil War through...

Lincoln used the War for the Union (Bradford 365) to conceal his changes in federal government
and economy by shifting the posture of the federal government towards the sponsorship of
business (Bradford 365) through 28.72 percent increase in tariffs between 1861 and 1865 which
encouraged a massive transfer of wealth (Bradford 366) and a change to the Republican system of
banking. Lincoln also directly contributed the corruption, greed, and peculation of the Gilded Age
by favoring land speculation , being a friend of the big corporations (Bradford 366), including the
Union Pacific Railroad, and mistreating immigrants. Lincoln s presidential misconduct during the

Preservation Restoration Of Degraded Or Low Quality Lakes
The majority of the world freshwater is shallow and confined to lowland areas (Beklioglu et al.,
2011). These shallow polymictic lakes usually with a depth of less than three meters are an
important natural resource and facilitate numerous services, as result having a crucial economical
and conservation value (Beklioglu et al., 2011). High quality of these lakes has become a political
obligation with initiatives such as the European commission s water frame work directive
implemented both locally and internationally. Therefore in order to maintain this value the
management restoration of degraded or low quality lakes is a widespread and key process.
However understanding the fundamental physical, biological and chemical aspects of the
ecosystem is a crucial starting block in these restoration process.
Shallow lakes have become the archetypical example of ecosystems with alternative stable states, a
clear state dominated by and submerged flora, and a turbid state with high phytoplankton biomass
(Scheffer et al., 1993; Scheffer and Jeppesen, 1998). Unlike turbid lakes, clear shallow lakes are
often dominated by submerged macrophytes which facilitate high biodiversity, high water quality
and provide higher lake aesthetic qualities, they are thus considered a crucial element of a healthy
clear shallow lake ecosystem. As a result from a conservation and economic standpoint the clear
state is the ideal that is aimed for during restoration and management. Shallow lakes often

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
Introduction
One of the rarest of congenital cardiac defects is Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, HLHS. This
syndrome is described as a collection of anomalies affecting the left heart and connecting structures.
Due to advancements in surgical intervention mortality rates in neonates with Hypoplastic Left
Heart Syndrome have decreased. Management of these patients requires a symphony of
multidisciplinary teams including fetal and pediatric cardiologist, cardiac surgeons, neonatologist,
pulmonologist, nutritionist and family counselors. Options currently comprise of heart transplant,
three staged palliative surgery and comfort care. There may be co morbidities present which further
complicate treatment, but with surgical intervention the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The blood that does not cross the foramen ovale into the left atrium is emptied into the right
ventricle which is then pumped into the pulmonary artery to be carried to the lungs. The third
fetal shunt is encountered; the ductus arteriosus allows blood to be shunted from the pulmonary
artery to the aorta and systemic arteries following. Blood that does go to the lungs are returned by
the pulmonary veins to the left atrium and emptied into the left ventricle. (Perinatal and Pediatric
Respiratory Care, Ch2 p 17 18) Shortly after birth due to changes in vascular resistance blood is
redirected to the lungs for oxygenation and these shunts are no longer required leading to their
closure within a few days postpartum. In HLHS, because the left heart structures are insufficient to
receive and pump adequate amounts of oxygenated blood to supply the tissues the patency of the
foramen ovale and the ductus arteriosus are essential to sustaining life. (PubMed ADAM Medical
Encyclopedia, 2013) Medical intervention is needed to maintain the patency of the ductus
arteriosus and an atrial septal defect is created in place of the foramen ovale.
Pharmacological therapy would include; prostaglandin E1 or E2 to maintain the patency of the
ductus arteriosus, diuretics, dobutamine to increase contractility of the volume loaded right
ventricle. (The Lancet)

How Did The Founding Fathers Maintain Religious Freedom In...
After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be
fair and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to
have was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British
control the church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The
church of england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the
colonists very much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again
in their newly established country. While writing the constitution the founding fathers said
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof. When they said this they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reason is that it was tyrannical and against our unalienable rights to have a religion
forced upon us, one that a lot of people may not believe in, but they would still be forced to
worship and participate in church activities. This would no longer be a free country if we were
forced to attend a church. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give
them power to make decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the
citizens should have absolute power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives.
The founding fathers wanted to steer clear of all possible future tyranny which is why they
created this separation of church and state and freedom of religion. This was the best way to
create a fair and just government for this new country they just fought for to keep. If we did not
have separation of church and state then I would not be a free man writing this essay and I would

Implementation Of A Proactive Management Model
If this plan meets the needs of the agency, the models implementation will be coordinated with
Field Services and managed by Health Protection and Environmental Health Directors to ensure an
efficient and well managed transition. Major tasks include restructuring tanning, home day care,
food and wastewater programs to a centralized system.
2.1 Description of Implementation
The implementation plan is an Environmental Health re structuring alternative for the Tanning,
Home Day Care, Food and Wastewater programs. This model will streamline these programs to
increase efficiency and oversight by management and supervisory staff. A proactive management
model ensures program efficiencies through setting and communicating clear expectations including
performance measures, accountability, quality of inspections, customer surveys, and training
designed to help inspection team members be successful in meeting the expectations. This model
ensures program standardizations and efficiencies by leveraging technology in the form of cellular
mobile devices that reduce burdens on agency IT infrastructure and IT staff.
The model produces increased protective measures through leveraging program expertise; more
consistent interpretation of laws, rules, regulations, and policies; off peak inspections; and focusing
inspection frequency on entities that lack system level compliance. The model also provides an
added benefit to the agency response and recovery resources. A new North, Central,

of advice on how to avoid getting ripped off, but few discuss the actual car repair prices. We really
need to look at the charges on a car repair estimate or auto repair invoice to determine if we re

The focus needs to shift from giving outdated and ineffective advice to addressing the specific
charges. Are they legitimate charges? Can they be justified by industry guidelines?
Now car repair estimates can be confusing. So let s break it down to get a better idea if your auto

Essay about Neurotransmitters
Neurotransmitters
Neurotransmitters are chemicals made by neurons and used by them to transmit signals to the other
neurons or non neuronal cells (e.g., skeletal muscle; myocardium, pineal glandular cells) that they
innervate. The neurotransmitters produce their effects by being released into synapses when their
neuron of origin fires (i.e., becomes depolarized) and then attaching to receptors in the membrane
of the post synaptic cells. This causes changes in the fluxes of particular ions across that membrane,
making cells more likely to become depolarized, if the neurotransmitter happens to be excitatory, or
less likely if it is inhibitory.
Neurotransmitters can also produce their effects by modulating the production of other ... Show

Some dopaminergic (i.e., dopamine releasing) neurons run from the substantia nigra to the corpus
striatum; their loss gives rise to the clinical manifestations of Parkinson s Disease (Korczyn 1994);
others, involved in the rewarding effects of drugs and natural stimuli, run from the mesencephalon
to the nucleunucleus accumbens.
The second neurotransmitter family includes amino acids, compounds that contain both an amino
group (NH2) and a carboxylic acid group (COOH) and which are also the building blocks of
peptides and proteins. The amino acids known to serve as neurotransmitters are glycine, glutamic
and aspartic acids, all present in all proteins, and gamma amino butyric acid (GABA), produced
only in brain neurons. Glutamic acid and GABA are the most abundant neurotransmitters within the
central nervous system, particularly in the cerebral cortex; glutamic acid tends to be excitatory and
GABA inhibitory. Aspartic acid and glycine subserve these functions in the spinal cord (Cooper,
Bloom, and Roth 1996).
The third neurotransmitter family is composed of peptides, compounds that contain at least two and
sometimes as many as 100 amino acids. Peptide neurotransmitters are poorly understood: Evidence
that they are, in fact, transmitters tends to be incomplete, and restricted to their location within
nerve terminals, and the physiologic effects produced when they are applied to neurons. Probably
the best understood peptide

12 billion dollars, that is certainly a lot of money (McFadyen)! On average, that is how much the
United States loses each year from border security. In order to stop illegal immigrants and drug
smugglers from entering the U.S. from Mexico through the border, a wall must be built.
In previous years, many countries and territories around the world have attempted to build
walls, and many have had very much success. For example, Most of the walls built after World
War 2 and the Cold War still exist today. There were a total of 110 walls built between that time
period. Professor Nazli Avdan led a study that had a goal of identifying if a border wall reduced or
increased the risk of a transnational terrorist attack. This study found that since the year 1900,
transnational terrorist attacks have seen a thirteen percent annual decrease in countries with border

government taking action. Decreasing illegal immigration was Donald Trump s main plan for the

Ethics And Social Psychology Research
Ethics are a fundamentally crucial topic in social psychology research. Ethics encompass essential
guidelines and codes of conduct that is taken into consideration before carrying out research.
Although undergraduate and graduate curriculum in psychology acquaints students with the basic
nature of ethical considerations and codes of conduct in research, however, it is likely that some of
the most famous experiments in social psychologysuch as experiment by Stanley Milgram on
Behavioral Study of Obedience exemplify ethical misconduct. However, with the publishing of the
first American Psychological Association Code of Ethics(APA, 2010), controversial and unethical
experiments such as the Stanley Milgram Obedience Experiment have been scrutinized. Also, the
appropriate regulatory body such as APA for psychological experiment provides guidelines and

However, psychological research remain predispose to controversial experimental techniques and

Amadeus Conflict Essay
I believe the central conflict in Amadeus is Salieri s jealousy towards Mozart. Salieri really
admires Mozart and his outstanding music even though Mozart is a few years younger than him.
Salieri begins to feel envy and jealousy towards Mozart when Mozart enters the emperor s palace
and calls one of Salieri s old songs a funny little tune. Mozart then proceeds to point out the flaws
in the piece and explains how Salieri could improve his piece making Salieri question why God
had blessed someone like Mozart with such talent.
In the following scene, we learn that Prince Elizabeth, the emperor s niece, needs a tutor. The
emperor immediately thinks of Mozart but Salieri being the envious individual that he is turns
the idea down quickly and suggests that he should have people apply for the position instead.
Mozart refuses to apply for the position so his wife Constanze decides to take matters into her
own hands and goes and speaks to Salieri; Salieri is part of the committee who reviews
applications for Prince Elizabeth s tutor. He is willing to help Mozart get the position only if

Undocumented Immigrants Be Deported Essay
Immigration has been a hot topic for not only President s Trump first 100 days in office, but also
became a hot topic during the presidential campaign leading up to the election. There are a
multitude of different debates that fall under the immigration category, but an issue that should be
discussed in the national discourse by engaging citizens is the legalization and granting of
citizenship to undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Even though it is heavily
debated, undocumented immigrants should be granted the legal right to become U.S. citizens. A
poll done by CNN in March states that 71% of people believe that the government should not
attempt to deport all people current living in the country illegally (Kopan, 1) compared to only 27%
that believe illegal immigrants should be deported by the same poll. This is key in the discussion
being debated that undocumented immigrants should be legal citizens of the United States. There
are a significant amount of undocumented immigrants who currently reside in the United States
today. According to the Pew Research... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

citizen s jobs, this is also proven to be false because immigrants create jobs and fill the gaps of the
jobs not done by natural born citizens. Undocumented immigrants also are proven to not commit as

Communist Party And Its Muslim Minorities
On September 23rd 2014, China found the prominent Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti guilty of
separatism and sentenced him to life in prison. This ruling came as a shock to the international
community, for he has been the foremost advocate of peacefully resolving Uyghur ethnic unrest in
China. Ilham Tohti is an ethnically Uyghur economist, professor, writer, and public intellectual who
has been spearheading the vanguard of cultivating mutual understanding and respect amongst Han
and Uyghur Chinese. He has been steadfast on working within the system to finding a solution that
will be mutually beneficial for the Communist Party and the Uyghur ethnic minorities in Xinjiang,
home to many of China s ethnic Turkic Muslims. Even in the face of adversity, he has been
outspoken and quick to criticize the missteps of the Communist Party s governance and policies
towards Xinjiang province and its Muslim minorities. Due to that, the CCP views him as a threat,
rather than a solution, to the extreme affairs of episodic ethnic and political unrest in Xinjiang.
With the growing resentment from the Uyghur populous towards government s policies, the
tensions in the Xinjiang region between Muslim Uyghur minorities and Han Chinesehave escalated
to waves of terrorist attacks around China, with the recent stabbing in Kunming, being dubbed as
China s 9/11 . In response, the CCP has imposed a more oppressive campaign to crackdown on the
separatists and stabilize the region. In this plight,

  • 3. Essay On The Sumerians It started with the sumerians and it ends with the neo babylonians. The sumerians were vanquished by the akkadians, the akkadians by the babylonians. But it didn t stop there the assyrians soon rose to power. It was not to stay, the babylonians would have revenge on those who made their downfall. Through the thought of sweet revenge the babylonians rose up with a new name, the neo babylonians. All of these empires thrived for a time, until that time came to an end. These great empires all came to a downfall. Even though I won t talk about them the persians came next in this line. The first civilization that came to be in mesopotamia was the sumerians. They started in the zagros mountains and faced a problem. To solve it some stayed in the mountains and some moved to the plains. Although the plains were not full of rainbows and unicorns. I don t even think there was enough rain for rainbows. The plains held another problem. To this they made a solution, which brought another problem and so on. Looking over all the empires they may have been one of the weakest. That was their downfall. The Akkadians stormed down from the zagros mountains and swiftly defeated the sumerians by taking out Ur first. But they could not do this just like that. The Akkadians were trained by sargon a powerful military strategist. Sargon was a very strict... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Incident Command Systems Essay As fall began in 1970, California had experienced practically no rainfall for many months, humidity levels dropped to being practically non existent, and the earth was scored from the raging summer heat (Rowley, n.d.). These conditions provided ample fuel for a wildfire that would burn for 13 days before being beaten back and extinguished by firefighters. Initially, it appeared controlling the fire spread would be done easily and quickly. However, multiple fires spawned rapidly into large fires that overwhelmed the local resources. Lack of communication, communication and application of skill became quickly evident as a major flaw in the control and command of such a large event. Essentially, an Incident Command Systems provides the basis of information in which the local, regional, or state response organization use to control the efficiency and functionality of response to an event or disaster. ICS encompasses five major systems which are, command, operations, planning, logistics and finance (Haddow, et. al., 2013). There are also three types of Incident Command: single, unified and area. A Single Incident Command involves one area, with one event, and one Incident Commander. Unified Command involves an event that spans jurisdictional boundaries and, therefore, warrants involvement of multiple Incident Command Systems and communication and coordination between respective Incident Commanders. Area Command spans, or has potential to, a very large area, such as a public health emergency as suggested by Haddow, Bullock and Coppola (n.d.). Since its development, the ICS has proven to be a useful and valuable tool in emergency management. By following guidelines established within an ICS, individual and /or multiple agencies can more quickly, efficiently and appropriately respond to disaster and emergency events. The continued use of the Incident Command Systems will aid in the success, competence and effectiveness of the emergency management ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They think that they don t stand a chance of fulfilling any of the dreams or goals they might have. Their idea of dreams coming true are far from their imagination and stick around with the absurd idea of keeping their feet in the ground and stop day dreaming or even think about it. What they don t know is that by just thinking about it, they re much closer to their dreamthan what they thoughtthey were. Basically every thought you have will contribute to what what s going on in your mind, whether you want it or not if you think about it you ll attract it. Some people say that this is where the saying Be careful with what you wish for comes from. It doesn t matter if it s for good or bad by having it in your head you just might get it. The law of attraction has been with us always, whether you knew about it or not (Byrne 58). Where we could see it a lot is with children. Take me for example, when I was little I used to dream about going to Disney World. I would see the commercials and I would see myself there also. Playing, meeting my favorite characters, getting on all the rides and just simply having fun. I would pray and ask my parents to take me. Down deep inside of me I knew I was going to be able to go one day, I never lost hope. Until one day my aunt decided to organize a trip for the whole family and I just couldn t believe it! After all that wishing and hoping I finally got to go and made my biggest dream come true. That s exactly what a person needs to do, have faith that you re going to receive it and just like a child, don t worry on the how and when to receive it. Just wait and have that certainty of being able to have it at the right time at the right moment. What also keeps a lot of people away from their goals is their fear. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Homeschooling was first introduced in the 1972. In a case Supreme Court case Wisconsin vs. Yoder they fought over the fact that public schools were violating their religious beliefs. The court decided to rule in favor of religious freedom, instead of favoring the states who wanted to require public education for everyone. The ruling that the Supreme Court made did not allow the homeschooled parents to teach the kids however the want. The government was still allowed to intervene to check the child s mental and physical health (Homeschooling, 2017). The main reason the homeschooling began was because of religious reason. Parents didn t want public education to be forced onto their child, since it may of went against their religion. There are even more reasons now to be homeschooled. It would be for religious reasons, or it could be for health reasons. Many parents believe that when their child is being homeschooled they are getting a better, more personalized education. Although homeschooling is seen as not being a viable alternative for public school,it should be. Students who are homeschooled have more skills, and receive a better education in primary school. This will help them greatly once they graduate high school, and go onto college, and even in the workforce. HIghschooling should be a more prominent option for all students. Although proponents say that homeschooling doesn t properly prepare children for the future, homeschooling allows children to have a more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty is a worldwide marketing campaign. The aim of the campaign is to create a world where beauty is a source of confidence, and not anxiety. The campaign also wants to help the next generation of women develop a positive relationship with the way they look. Throughout their advertisements dove have used a variety of women who have a various range of body sizes, skin colours, heights and ethical backgrounds. Dove uses the colour white significantly often dressing their models in white underwear or clothes. More than so using white backgrounds and backdrops which seem to mimic their usual product colours packaging and advertising theme. White usually symbolizing the message of purity, comfort and happiness or is often seen as the colour of a virgin. The use of the selection of women compared to regular stereotypical models gives the viewer a reinforced purpose to empathize with the campaign. Japanese Furniture and Interior Design and Shiro Kuramata Shiro Kuramata (1934 91) was a Japanese designer best known for his furniture and interior design, which gave the modern culture a creative voice. The piece was inspired by an old jazz song and is part of the permanent collection at New York s Museum of Modern Art. It is designed as a spacious armchair with woven threads of expanded metal; the piece weighs little more than a leaf, and can withstand robust use . As is sometimes the tradition in Japan, Kuramata s father kept the name of his first wife, Chiyo Kuramata, even after she passed and he remarried Sei. At the time of his birth his parents were living in the staff housing at the Research Institute of Physic and Chemistry where his father worked . He was the youngest of three girls and four boys, living in a very disciplined household, and began his education when he was seven years old. Tokyo at this time was undergoing a change that would allow it to catch up with the First World, and taking steps to become self sufficient in its development of industries; educating engineers, scientists, architects, and designers. This interest in the culture of the Western world and the technological advancements all lead to a policy of modernization and fast pace advancement in which Kuramata was born into. • 12. Aspects Of Arctic Sovereignty Environmental Aspects of Arctic Sovereignty 1.Introduction The Arctic has the world s largest unused source of oil and it is getting international attention because of its extremely value resources (Crawford, Hanson Runnalls, 2008). According to Digman (2011) the Arctic s commercial interest mostly rely on drilling, mining and transportation development. However, Arctic s development not only will lead to economical profits but also will bring international conflicts. Due to this, a Sovereignty by the five Arctic s coastal countries such as Canada, Denmark, Norway, Russia and United States is essential. Moreover, Arctic s climate change is happening right now due to human induced factors (Isted, 2009) and Arctic s development will lead to environmental damage (Johnston, 2012). The effects of this combination will have significant global consequences and could end in an environmental catastrophe (Crawford et al., 2008). The purpose of this report is to discuss the Arctic s resources and developments as well as the environmental impacts of the Arctic s development and climate change. In addition,... However, regardless of this situation, economic activities are increasing due to global warming (Isted, 2009) because some countries consider the Arctic s melting ice an development opportunity (Smith, 2010). • 13. The Theory Of A Paradigm Shift Traditionally, the scientific community viewed progress developing cumulatively within a framework of accepted facts. However in The Structure of Scientific Revolution, Thomas S. Kuhn argues science also advances episodically rather than only continuously. Kuhn creates the concept of paradigm shifts that changed science by transforming fundamental structures. Although Kuhn only attributes paradigms shifts to natural sciences, many have applied this idea to other fields. In Discipline and Punish, Michel Foucault analyzes the rapid shifts in penal systems and the larger social implications of such change. Foucault attributes the rise of prisons due to modifications in perceptions about punishment and power. These reformations mirror paradigm shifts, since they fundamentally change existing frameworks. Both Kuhn and Foucault demonstrate the importance of structural changes in the history of ideas. To prove this claim, I will explain Kuhn s idea of a paradigm shift and relate it to Foucault s analysis of how modern prisons emerged. In order to understand paradigm shifts, one must look at normal science and how its impact on the scientific community. Kuhn defines normal science as research firmly based upon one or more past scientific achievements, achievements that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the foundation for its further practice (Kuhn 10). Normal science builds facts and knowledge within a set of guidelines, or paradigms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who feel that we all live our own individual unique culturein our lives. However, being that culture is such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. Their way of day to day lifestyle, geographical terrain, as well as their militaryhistory can all be analyzed through their culture as well as provide information in terms of our current military jargon for the benefit of the United States Army. Culturally, Okinawans separate themselves from the association of the Japanese culture, even though they are still considered a territory of Japan. Recycling Essay Recycling During the early 1970s, as communities across the United States saw their landfills filling up, attention turned to alternative methods of garbage disposal, such as incineration and recycling. While incineration proved to be a thorny issue due to its toxic ash byproduct, recycling was embraced by Americans as an effective way to offset rising garbage production rates. Today, demand for recycled products is beginning to match supply, and the percentage of waste going into landfills and incinerators is decreasing steadily. In 1970, when Americans produced 121 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW), three quarters went directly into landfills, one fifth was incinerated, and less ... And the demand for goods made from recycled products, despite a lot of ups and downs during the 1980s, has never been higher thanks to a combination of well conceived industrial/commercial applications and much needed government purchasing mandates. Indeed, the existence of markets for recyclables has contributed significantly to recycling s success as a waste disposal alternative. What makes recycling especially unique is its implementation by local people for local people. In regards to MSW management, the federal government is relatively hands off, and state governments have focused more of their attention on landfill and incineration options. As a result, local communities have come together to initiate recycling efforts; the percolation of their enthusiasm has led to the widespread acceptance and even encouragement of recycling at both the state and federal levels. With recovered materials demanding higher market prices and curbside collection and commercial recovery on the rise, it is not unrealistic for Americans to expect to see nationwide recycling rates of thirty five to fifty percent by the turn of ... The process does not proceed at a uniform rate all over the body. As we age, the organ systems of individuals age at different rates. Our body gradually slows down in early adult life. These changes are not apparent until perhaps 50 years of age as they are not perceptible. The election of 1800 between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams is one such campaign. Jefferson, through the use of James Callender, a pamphleteer who was one of his supporters, used one of the oldest tricks against Adams: spreading outright lies about his opponent. Callender alleged that Adams wanted to go to war with France and also depicted him as a hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman. (Freeman). Reputation soiled and credibility destroyed, Adams was no match for Jefferson, who ended up winning the election. Another example of a contentious presidential campaign occurred in 1964. Sensor networks have recently emerged as a platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor has an onboard radio that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the advantages of wireless sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh environments in which contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky, inefficient and sometimes infeasible. Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly in the area of interest by a relatively uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to collectively form a network in an ad hoc manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Data collected from sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node (or the last node) in the network depletes its energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed to reduce useful energy consumption. These protocols can be classified into three classes. Not being married was popular among these teenagers, as 89% of them weren t (Teen Pregnancy Statistics, 2015). With teenagers having babies, you have to wonder, who is going to have to pay for the kid if the teenager isn t well off. It was estimated that about 9.4 billion tax dollars were spent on teenage pregnancy and childbirth (Teen Pregnancy Statistics, 2015). That is a huge amount of money to be spending. The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political Party. Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the Conservatives, with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed. However, it soon became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were unable to unite as one to make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an important factor in the growth of Labour and the decline of the Liberals. It seems that the decline of the Liberals began with several problems that can be traced back to pre war times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom women would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as the Liberals refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue was a constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their evident reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to resolve the issue proved to be a political embarrassment. Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw the most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike action. Two reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to the current social and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government were to blame for this industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to reverse the Osbourne judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which was a great embarrassment to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union used part of the fees to fund the Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were determined to undermine the Labour ... The Future of Black English and its Academic Impact on African American Children Introduction Language plays a key role in communication in any society, culture and organization. This medium of social interaction is universal and has been passed down for centuries as a legacy. Therefore, it is imperative that the purity of the language is kept within each framework of heritage. Culture also plays a very important role in the evolution of language. It is the foundation of social engagement and personal commitment. Verbal and non verbal communication can help define the way in which intercultural communication is conducted, and is of significance as it allows for individuals to learn the differences that exist in the language of various cultures. Language in the Black culture has been evolving since the early days of slavery. In those earlier days slaves were not taught to read or write, so they developed their own language. These shallow polymictic lakes usually with a depth of less than three meters are an important natural resource and facilitate numerous services, as result having a crucial economical and conservation value (Beklioglu et al., 2011). High quality of these lakes has become a political obligation with initiatives such as the European commission s water frame work directive implemented both locally and internationally. Therefore in order to maintain this value the management restoration of degraded or low quality lakes is a widespread and key process. Shallow lakes have become the archetypical example of ecosystems with alternative stable states, a clear state dominated by and submerged flora, and a turbid state with high phytoplankton biomass (Scheffer et al., 1993; Scheffer and Jeppesen, 1998). Unlike turbid lakes, clear shallow lakes are often dominated by submerged macrophytes which facilitate high biodiversity, high water quality and provide higher lake aesthetic qualities, they are thus considered a crucial element of a healthy clear shallow lake ecosystem. The neurotransmitters produce their effects by being released into synapses when their neuron of origin fires (i.e., becomes depolarized) and then attaching to receptors in the membrane of the post synaptic cells. This causes changes in the fluxes of particular ions across that membrane, making cells more likely to become depolarized, if the neurotransmitter happens to be excitatory, or less likely if it is inhibitory. • 53. Undocumented Immigrants Be Deported Essay Immigration has been a hot topic for not only President s Trump first 100 days in office, but also became a hot topic during the presidential campaign leading up to the election. There are a multitude of different debates that fall under the immigration category, but an issue that should be discussed in the national discourse by engaging citizens is the legalization and granting of citizenship to undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Even though it is heavily debated, undocumented immigrants should be granted the legal right to become U.S. citizens. This ruling came as a shock to the international community, for he has been the foremost advocate of peacefully resolving Uyghur ethnic unrest in China. Ilham Tohti is an ethnically Uyghur economist, professor, writer, and public intellectual who has been spearheading the vanguard of cultivating mutual understanding and respect amongst Han and Uyghur Chinese. He has been steadfast on working within the system to finding a solution that will be mutually beneficial for the Communist Party and the Uyghur ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, home to many of China s ethnic Turkic Muslims. Even in the face of adversity, he has been outspoken and quick to criticize the missteps of the Communist Party s governance and policies towards Xinjiang province and its Muslim minorities. Due to that, the CCP views him as a threat, rather than a solution, to the extreme affairs of episodic ethnic and political unrest in Xinjiang. With the growing resentment from the Uyghur populous towards government s policies, the tensions in the Xinjiang region between Muslim Uyghur minorities and Han Chinesehave escalated to waves of terrorist attacks around China, with the recent stabbing in Kunming, being dubbed as China s 9/11 . In response, the CCP has imposed a more oppressive campaign to crackdown on the separatists and stabilize the region. In this plight, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
