Use Theories Of Emotional Intelligence Of Daniel Goleman
It can be concluded ,that leadership requirement may vary from situation to another ,so it is
important to be flexible on various kinds of situations .Many authoritative leaders use penalties
against their employee that will lead to tension ,absence of innovation and moral fall ,that can affect
the performance of the organization. Also lessez faire style can bring to staff an informal selection
for guidance that might be successful in certain environment, yet can fail in another .Personally,
democratic and behavioural style are highly concerned with my subordinates with whom I feel open
and easy to communicate and deliver to achieve goals ,so flexibility doesn t mean a transformation
in personality it s all about changing tactics in various situation that a manager can face . 1.2 Use
theories of emotional intelligence to review the effect of emotions on own and others performance .
Emotional intelligence is a very important business tool ,that I can use to understand and manage
my own emotion state and others emotions in an organization to communicate effectively and solve
problems in tense and stressful situations by using the four attributes of emotional intelligence of

that I am good and acknowledge what I still have to learn .On an interpersonal level ,it important
to admit that I don t have all the answers, like everyone else I make mistakes and most
importantly, I seek for help ,soliciting and listening to feedback from my employee .This will
increase my credibility and net the trust of others. Moreover, the ability of understanding my own

Chaos In The Odyssey
As I began to read Homer s The Odyssey, I must admit that I was searching for acts of chaos in
the most general form. I was looking for Homer to express his views of chaos vividly and
distinctly. However, Homer does something different. He imbeds his imagery of chaos in the
journey of Odysseus s son (Telemachus) to avenge his father by getting rid of his mother s suitors,
and by bringing word of his father s return back to Ithaca. One chaotic point that stood out to me in
Homer s The odysseywas when Telemachus was expressing his fear of living in his own home
because he was afraid his mother s suitors would kill him They are eating us out of house and
home, and will kill me someday (184). This was a chaotic point because during the time

When Joseph Stalin Took Over Russia After Lenin By 1928,
When Joseph Stalin took over Russia after Lenin by 1928, the country s policy on how it was
going to industrialize changed. Stalin said, We are fifty or a hundred years behind the advanced
countries. We must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or we shall go under.
12 Stalin believed that if the USSR did not industrialize then it would be the death of them
because they will be vulnerable both economically and militarily. Stalin said, Everything can be
achieved, everything can be overcome, if there is a passionate desire for it. 13 By saying this
Stalin is reassuring the people with doubt that this goal can be accomplished. In order for this
seemingly impossible task to be accomplished passionate soviets would be... Show more content on

The difference between Lenin and Stalin was that Stalin wanted this all done in ten years so he
was more drastic than Lenin. Peasants were not at all pleased because they liked how they were
prospering before, so to retaliate they burned their crops and slaughtered their livestock as to
sabotage what the central government was trying to do and how they were trying to get it
done.18 The slaughter of livestock and burning of crops led to the famine of 1931 1932 that
caused the death of five to seven million people.19 The Ukraine was especially hit hard by
famine it was not unusual for families to starve and stay alive for as long as they could then
they would just die.20 The famine caused so many deaths that trains were needed to collect
corpses from peasant villages who had died from starvation .21 In extreme cases, although not
too uncommon, families would turn to cannibalism to stay alive. Some families even murdered
their children and would eat them in order to continue on living.22 In order to get the actual
work done Stalin made changes in society. One change was the conditions of labor, now forced
labor was the norm and it was always intensely disciplined.23 There were life and death incentives
to having a job. If someone was fired from their job then they were

Examples Of Rebellion In Persepolis
Rebellion is the act of resisting authority. In the 3 stories, each of the characters rebelled against the
authorities in one way or another. In Cairo, the characters joined the revolution, in Lolita the
character did not walk with her chaperon, and in Persepolis the character quietly rebelled against
the government and its rules. To begin with, in the first source the main character, Ahdaf, decides to
join the Egyptian revolution. The revolution started because the people of Egypt thought that the
government was unfair and they needed a change. The author described the rebellionto be very
violent as she states in lines 64 68 at the other end of the Midan, from the roof of the American
University, the snipers were watching us, too silently. Everywhere there was continuous thud of
guns and from time to time a loud, intermittent rattling sound. Thus, the protest left more than one
hundred people dead people and many more injured, many streets and buildings destroyed. This
revolution is a great example of how people rebel against authority.... Show more content on

who ride in white Toyota patrols, four gun carrying me and women, sometimes followed by a

PID Controller
PID controller is one of the methods for temperature control and is widely used in process control
industry due to simple design and easy to implement in industrial [1]. PID controller consists of
three controllers, which is proportional (P) controller, Integral (I) controller, and derivative (D)
controller [2]. The equation for output of the PID control can be described as: u(t)=K(e(t)+ 1/T_i

Which e is the control error, K is the proportional (P) gain, Ti is the integral (I) time, and Td is the
derivative time. Figure 1 shows the PID controller design using operational amplifier (op amp).

The formation of UAE Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) was to organise regulatory

The local industry of flourishing real estate is securing the UAE government s economic diversity.
Indulgent government policy structures and active participation of private sector have facilitated

Greek Government Vs Athenian Government
Ancient Government Government should be by those people with enough time on their hands to
pursue virtue. Aristotle, one of the greatest philosophers of all time, spoke these words. Researchers
believe that the Athenian Constitution is supposedly a copy of Aristotle s book, Politics, which
was made for research for his students. Aristotledefines the constitution as a certain ordering of the
inhabitants of the city state. (1) The ancient Athenian governmentwas a democracy. Ancient Rome
on the other hand, had a mixed constitution (2). Polybius writes the analysis of Constitution of the
Roman Republic where he outlines the distinct branches of the Roman government and he explains
why it worked. Rome was the most successful society prior to 300 BCE, because of the
improvements they made in government, engineering, and the army, which still affects society

It was developed in the city state of Athens and included the nearby city state of Attica, in 508 BCE.
Athens had the most powerful democracy around at that time. Several other city states followed the
same type of democracy because of the way it worked. The Athenian democracy had three branches
of government: the Ekklesia, the Boule, and the Dikasteria. It is truly amazing how the Athenian
democracy achieved the concept of equal rights and created a system where no person or group can
be more powerful than the other. The Athenian constitution is an interpretation on the development
of constitutional in ancient Greece. The text of the constitution is written history of from a political
standpoint. It outlines the progression of Greek rulers, and their rights and privileges. The
constitution traces rulers along with their constitutional reforms all the way back to 403 BCE.
Aristotle touches on topics of earlier Greek history where democracy first started. Depicting from
Aristotle s analysis, Solon was the creator of the Greek

Choosing A Major And An Idea Of A Career
Choosing a major and an idea of a career you want to pursue, is not an easy choice. There is a lot
of thinking that goes into deciding what you want to study and what you want to become in the
future. Most people are not positive even once they have entered college as to what it is for sure
they want to do. This MyPlan assessment was extremely informative in what my skills were and
how I could use them. Going to the Career Center on February 5 really helped me to understand
what my results meant and what I could take out of this assessment. We took four tests, a
personality, personal interest, skills, and values test. For my personality test report, there were 4
different categories looked at to come up with a combined census of what my personality is.
You were either, extroverted or introverted, sensor or intuitive, thinker or feeler, and judger or
perceiver. My results showed that I was ESTJ. Which means that I am extroverted, sensor,
thinker, and a judger. Extroverts basically respond very well to social gatherings and like to be
around people. They are usually very talkative and tend to work well in teams. Sensors seek
specific answers to specific questions. Usually they do not have a very wide imagination and are
more realistic. Thinkers believe that it is important to be right and honest with themselves than it is
to be liked. A thinker seeks fairness and tend to be tough minded. Judgers appreciate organizations,
punctuality, order, schedules, etc. Judgers tend to

The Negative Impact of Conglomeration of Media Companies...
Wedian Ibrahim May 13, 2012 The Negative Impact of Conglomeration of Media Companies on
Audiences The word conglomeration is defined as the formation of a large company by the
merging of separate and diverse small firms. Media conglomerate is a large company or
corporation formed by merging of different small media outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers, and
internet. Big companies tend to buy out other smaller companies in the market to increase their
revenue by increasing their viewership, and to control the smaller companies resources. This creates
media oligopoly by which few firms dominate the market. This media conglomeration is threatening
democracy because of its negative impact on audiences. Those... Show more content on

With the closure of the Reporter in 2003, the city of Cambridge lost its oldest local news
coverage source in Southern Ontario. Some criticizers claim that Torstar closed the Reporter to
make room for the other more profitable daily newspapers (Robock 1). Mirko Bibic, senior vice
president of regulatory affairs for both the network and its telecommunications parent, BCE Inc,
says We won t continue to fund chronically unprofitable stations, tiny stations in tiny little towns.
(Sturgeon 1) . With the closure of many local media outlets lots of employees will be left
unemployed. In 2009, 1000 journalists lost their jobs in local newspapers in Northcliffe in the
United Kingdome because Northcliffe Media Company lost 37% of these newspapers
advertising revenue (Toynbee 1). Also, Guardian Media Group closed 153 of its local newsroom
in the same year (Toynbee 1). In conclusion, conglomeration of media needs lots of attention as it
is threatening democracy in Canada. Conglomeration of media made corporations care about the
business part of the media more than the ethics of the profession. Conglomeration of media also
caused media bias and loss of objectivity in delivering the news to the public. Finally,
conglomeration of media is the major cause of the loss of the local news in Canada. As a result,
lots of media professionals are losing their

The Pros And Cons Of Corruption In Venezuela And Libya
Introduction
Imagine a world where daily planned blackouts and shorter workdays were implemented to
conserve energy. For people living in Venezuela and Libya, this is very much the norm. In addition
to being two of the most corrupt and politically unstable governments in the world, Venezuela and
Libya are plagued with problems surrounding their energy sectors. This is surprising, since they are
both globally known for being oil rich countries. Venezuelahad 300 billion barrels of oil reserves in
2016, passing oil rich Saudi Arabia at 266 billion barrels, Iran at 158 billion, and Iraq at 142
billion. Libya on the other hand, had about 50 billion barrels of reserves in 2015 (OPEC, 2016).
So, where does the oil go and why do Venezuelans and Libyans suffer energy poverty if they live
in oil rich regions of the world? Nearly all of it is exported out of the country for profit, leaving
many of the local citizens in these two countries empty handed. Corruption revolving around these
countries oil exports has pairs with political instability and leads to a plethora of economic,
political, and social problems.
Problem of State Ownership of Oil
In Venezuela, one of the biggest economic and political problems regarding oil exports is that
PetrГіleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), Venezuela s major oil and gas company, is state owned
(Schuster, 2017). This means that corruption can run rampant, allowing political leaders to pocket
money from exports. Further, since

Risk Factors Affecting Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
M.C was admitted to Providence hospital in Waco on September 11, 2015 to undergo coronary
artery bypass graft surgery. He has a previous medical history of coronary artery disease (CAD),
hypertension, MI, and hyperlipidemia. All of these diseases put M.C at an increased risk for acute
CAD leading to occluded vessels that supply the heartwith adequate bloodflow and oxygenation.
Nonmodifiable risk factors associated with coronary arterydisease include age, gender, family
history, and ethnic background. Modifiable risk factors include smoking, obesity, elevated serum

The fibrous plaque is often elevated and protrudes into the vessel lumen, partially or completely
obstructing blood flow through the artery (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). When the coronary
arteries are unable to meet the cardiac muscle s need for oxygen an imbalance occurs resulting in
stable angina or unstable angina. With stable angina the plaque is fixed and is associated with chest
discomfort in response to activities. Whenever the plaque that has been accumulating in the arteries
ruptures the body responds by platelet aggregation, thrombus formation, and vasoconstriction as an
inflammatory response known as acute coronary syndrome or unstable angina. This in turn
narrows the blood vessels and can cause an increase in obstruction of the artery. Once the artery
has plaque accumulation of 40%, blood flow starts being blocked. The amount of blood flow
blocked through occlusion of the artery determines the disease process.
M.C also had increased glucose levels while I was providing care. Hyperglycemia can cause
increased inflammation of the blood vessel walls damaging the endothelial lining of the vessel.
Hyperglycemia is another major cause for concern because it creates additional plaque buildup
causing occlusion and further complications.
With recurrent plaque build up on the arteriolar walls and vasoconstriction M.C developed and
was diagnosed with hypertension. Hypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure at or above

The Marketing Of The Beer Industry
The U.S. beer industry is a highly concentrated industry since two large firms (Anheuser Busch
InBev and MillerCoors) occupy a significant market share. As the craft beer industry experiences an
explosive growth, the competition becomes fierce. As the largest craft brewery and the seventh
largest brewery in the United States, the Boston BeerCompany is facing growing competitive threats
from larger breweries and premium imported beer companies, including Anheuser Busch InBev,
MillerCoors, Heineken, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium Brewing, and Crown Imports. More than
that, it has to face the competitive challenges from the small breweries, which are growing rapidly
and want to surpass the Boston Beer Company. Samuel Adams produced by the Boston Beer
Company is one of the most popular craft beer because it has won more awards in the beer tasting
competitions than any other breweryin the world since 2000 (Dess et al. C129). As the competition
within the craft beer industry, the Boston Beer Company has to figure out a way to maintain
growth, increase customer awareness, and continue to brew flavorful beers that customers enjoy.
Porter s Five Forces on the general Beer Industry
Industry rivalry is considered high because of the acquisition, the decline of the beer consumption,
and the rise of the craft brewing sector. Competition among the beer companies in the industry is
based on brand and quality. In recent years, the industry has also consolidated quite notably with the

Differences Between Of Mice And Men Movie And Movie
Of Mice and Men Movie review ~ Erica Oversen
Usually people say that the book is always better than the movie. Of Mice and Men is just like
that. Of Mice and Men is an excellent story about two ranch workers who have a dream. This
movie is directed by Gary Sinise, and he also plays the role of George. The two main characters
Lennie (John Malkovich) and George have an American Dream of having a ranch and Living off
the Fat of the land . There is one setback to this dream. Lennie is not the brightest person on earth
and he travels with his acquaintance George. George is a smart person and he took in Lennie
when his aunt Clara died. Lennie at the beginning had to flee with George from a town called

In the book and the movie, the theme that is portrayed is loneliness. In the book, John Steinbeck did
a great job of saying that if Lennie and George didn t have each other then they would both be
extremely lonely. The movie director did the same exact thing. The movie director made it
obvious that both Lennie and George are lonely because they only have each other. This made
the audience feel that they are lonely and that made the movie meaningful. The story line was
very good, but it was not the same as the book. The director made a good choice with having the
intro be with the girl in the red dress because if they did that in the middle of the movie as a
flashback, then that would have made it confusing for the audience. This choice was good and
even better than the book because it made the story line easier to understand. In all, The Movie
Of Mice and Men was very good. The Sound was phenomenal, the story line was great, and the
Characters were absolutely fantastic. The movie could have been better if they did better with
cinematography. Although the Cinematography did have a great effect on the movie, it was
somewhat good. The movie was very exceptional, and the director did a fantastic job for almost
every single aspect of the

Gregory Orr s heroic quest starts when he is traumatized by guilt from accidentally ending the
life of his little brother. That moment in his life was a traumatizing factor for himself. Gregory
Orr whole journey is based on the effect the accident had on his consciousness and judgement on
himself. At this point he doubts himself as a decent human being and is clouded with guilt from
reoccurring thoughts . I believe Gregory Orr s incident causes a dramatic negative emotion and

Why Is Casablanca An Historical Evidence
Response Paper #3 Casablanca As Historical Evidence
Looking at the socially or culturally history of the United States, many historians use
Hollywood films as a primary source. I also used many films such as Easy Rider (1969) or
Dance, Girl, Dance (1941) to support my historical thesis paper and to make the topic more vivid
by using the images of the film. Even though, some people think that films are accurate and

Nevertheless, it seems that they represent American society in the 1940 s. The character of Rick
portrays an unconventional hero who tries to stay outside of everyone s business, but in the end it
is him who saves Laszlo s and Ilsa s life. This reminds me of the role of America during WWII. At
first, the United States tried to stay out of the war, but when they were forced to react after Pearl
Harbor, they got involved. The film also refers to this when Rick asks his friend Sam if he knows
what time it is in New York. Before Sam can reply, Rick says that it must be December 1941,
which was the time when the attack against Pearl Harbor occurred. Ilsa, on the other hand,
represents the role of American women. She is described as the most beautiful woman that has
been seen in Casablanca. Her appearance reminds me of the typical image of an ideal American
girl blonde, pretty and conservative. She tries to act in a moral way when she finds out that her
presumed dead husband is still alive and she leaves Rick at the station in Paris. This reminds me
of how women were treated during the 1940 s. It was their responsibility to take care of the
family business, but in the end men would have the final decision. Ilsa tries to get the transit visa
from Rick, but she tells him to decide what she should do next. Rick sends her away with Laszlo
and restores the perfect family union between Ilsa and Laszlo. Another

Fat Tax On Junk Food
The idea of implementing Fat Tax on junk food in the U.S. has been in the works for quite some
time. California is first in the nation to implement the fat tax . This tax will be applied to any
items containing more than 2.3% saturated fat, including, dairy products such as cheese and
milk, processed foods, pizza, soda, and candy. The purpose of such a tax is to deter consumers
from purchasing these unhealthy foods and lower the obesity rate. According to Ogden, Carroll,
Kit and Flegal (2014), prevalence of obesity in the United States is high, with one third of adults
and 17% of children obese ( Prevalence of Childhood Obesity in the United States , 2014).The
number of obese children is alarming, albeit, significant measures have been taken in schools to
provide healthier meals. Unfortunately, there is little guidance when it comes to food choices at
home. Fat tax on junk food will provide consumers with the guidance and encouragement needed
to make healthier food choices. There is much controversy when it comes to these taxes and
many oppose same. Steven Kurlander, an attorney and blogger for the Huffington Post, is clearly
not in favor of implementing fat taxes and refers to these taxes as really nothing more than taxes
we overweight Americans really can t afford to pay ( Fat Taxes Won t Slim Down Americans ,
2013 ). Kurlander comes across a bit combative and bias but more importantly, he contradicts
himself. He compares fat tax to the sin tax which

The Nature And Activity Of God
Question 1: What did I learn about the nature and activity of God? I see God working through
the history of mankind and God working throughout the history of Israel as well. I believe one
can see that God is at work in the church as well. He is working to fulfill God s plans that has
been in place before the foundation of the world. God s plan as the Apostle Paul says is to
redeem his people in Ephesians 1:6 7. The Apostle Paul said, to the praise of his glorious grace,
with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (Ephesians 1:6†‬7 ESV). It
is Genesis chapter 3 that we see the broken state of mankind, but God offers grace to mankind
when He tells Eve her child (Jesus) would crush the serpent (Satan).‬ It is through the OT text
that we see the interaction with God. Von Rad believed that through this retailing and
applications of the OT stories we see God himself revealed to Israel through the words and the
Deeds of the texts which, swears to what God has said and done (Routledge p. 59). We can look
back at history and see God s action and see a great future that lies ahead for His children. It is
through the stories of the OT that we see what God has done and is continually doing today. We
often lose sight of the importance of what God has done and is doing in us. We focus too much in
our own circumstance. The DTIB states that our view of history is

Procurement Strategy 540
Introduction 140 Procurement strategy 540 traditional procurement Competitive tender process
The traditional procurement route has become one of the standard approaches in the construction
industry since the 19th century. The key characteristics of a traditional procurement route with a
competitive tender process are competition or tendering cannot start until the design process is
complete, the designing process is separate from the construction process and the lack of contractor
involvement in the design process, with the design and technical development being carried out by
the clients consultant. (Cartlidge, 2013). There are three stages to a traditional approach, those
stages being the Preparation stage (Appraisal and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drawings that the bill of quantities was made from will also need to be in the package. The
form of tender and the tender instructions (Time and place will also need to be sent. Once the
tender is completed, one contractor must be chosen. Usually it is the one with the lowest price
is chosen, as it will give the client the best value of money. However recently there have been
many times were the lowest one is not chosen as it is too low and it may not give the client the
moneys worth in the long term. One tender is chosen and one is chosen as a reserve, both of
them are informed of their job. The chosen contractor is then to submit a fully priced bill of
quantities for checking as soon as possible. With using this procurement route there are many
advantages, such as the client retaining responsibility for the design team, the design team will
report straight to the client to make sure quality controls are maintained. There is the assurance
of price, as the client will understand the cost of the project, if all the work is fully designed in
advance. This also allows a basis for variations to be priced at the rates given, it is also easier to
analyse the prices. With this method the works can be done at the lowest price, getting the best
value of money. (Consultations.rics.org, 2016) However with those advantages come
disadvantage, such as for this to be effective, the has to be ready so fully designed before the
tenders are requested, this could

Large Lake Essay
Michigan s literally translation from the Ojibwa nation is Large Lake but the natives know it by
the Great Lakes State. These names come from the history and prominence of the water features
throughout the state. The beginning of shaping the current landscape of the state was with the
glaciers. Glaciers are large bodies of ice that travel across land leaving behind deposits and
reshaping the land as it moves. The most common features are moraines, drumlins, eskers, till
plains, valley trains, kames, and kettles.
Moraines are are long lines of ridges and festoons of hills composed essentially of boulder clay or
till which was dumped from the ice front during relatively long intervals when the backward

The present day physical landscape of Michigan was not accomplished until the late Pleistocene.
The Midwest was dominated by four massive glaciers with Michigan s average glacial drift
ranging from 200 to 300 feet and a thickness of 1,000 feet in some locations (2017, DNR).
Michigan s glacial deposits are estimated to three hundred over the entire state (2009, Berquist).
The melting allowed the liquefied water to carry the various rocks and soils in landscape deposits.
As the melting increased, the weight of the glacier on the Michigan basin was decreasing. With
less pressure on the basin, it began to rebound into its original shape while maintaining the
integrity of the glacial deposit landforms. About fourteen thousand years ago, the Wisconsin
Glacier covered the entirety of Michigan with its northernmost head at the Hudson Bay and
stretching to the banks of the Ohio River as shown in Figure 1 (2017, DNR). These glacial
movements were guided by the pre glacial rivers that were further carved by the massive ice sheets
to carve valleys. Although drainage was occurring in the Great Lakes region during the pre glacial
area, it is nearly impossible to reproduce its exact original features (2009, Berquist). Many lobes
of the glaciers sculpted the current boundaries of the Great Lakes. One of these was the Huron,
Erie Lobe which shaped the basins of lakes Huron and Erie (2009, Berquist). Lake Superior was

Religion was more important than politics in the failure of King and Parliament to reach a

In January 1649, King Charles I was executed after being charged with high treason due to political
and religious reasons, some of which contributed to his refusal in accepting the peace settlements
given to him by Parliament. Charles refusal to compromise was supported by the division that had
emerged within Parliament on how to fight the civil war between the Political Presbyterians and

should be restricted to those with a permanent fixed interest in the kingdom as Seel 2 says, and that
the vote should go to those who possessed property or there would otherwise be a disturbance to a

radicals made settlements more difficult and furthermore increased the tension of division among
those in the army and in parliament.
The politicisation of the New Model Army also played a significant role in the failure to reach a
settlement in the years 1646 to 1649 between Charles and Parliament. What made the army
politicised was the concerns of their wages of ВЈ3 million in arrears and the possibility of being
faced with the charges of committing offences from the First Civil War, as Parliament had not

The Effect Of Amylase Concentration On Human Population
1.0Introduction
With the constant integration of technology into human households, it is apparent that biological
enzymes such as the alpha amylase are to be implemented into sanitary procedures. One such
example lies within the utilisation of enzymes in laundry detergents. Enzymes have recently
assisted the development and improvement of modern household and industrial detergents (Journal
of surfactants and detergents 1998). The alpha amylase is essential in hydrolysis of starch
molecules, as it catalysis splits in starch so that they consist of short chains of glucose units. These
units can then be broken down by water allowing it to dissolve into the solution. Though the
limitation associated with the alpha amylase is that excess concentrations cause odours to be
trapped within clothing material. Additionally due to the presence of alkalis in laundry detergents it
can cause an altering of pH, thus affecting the ability of the enzyme to catalyse reactions. Hence in
order to understand the most optimal conditions for cleaning, this investigation will analyse the
effects of amylase concentration within altering pH solutions to determine the best solution to aid
in stain removal. The investigation will utilise fungal amylase, which is essential in replicating
factory amylase which is implemented into house hold detergents.
1.2 Aim
The aim of this investigation was to analyse the effects of altering pH and amylase concentration in
starch removal in order to verify

John Mill s On Liberty
In John Mill s On Liberty, he addresses the topic of individual decision making and the
restrictions that can be placed on it. Mill argues that if an object or action has potential for harm
but also the potential to accomplish an outcome other than harm, then that event or object should
not be forcibly regulated or restricted. He uses an example of a person crossing a dangerous
bridge as support to his argument. Assuming that this individual is in a reasonable mental state,
the individual should only be warned of the danger of crossing the bridge but not forcibly
restricted from crossing. Mill states that because a poor outcome is only possible and not certain,
the individual should be allowed to cross as this fits his definition of liberty.... Show more content

Mill could make the argument, but what if the decision has no consequence for others? My
rebuttable would be that there is rarely (if any) a scenario that a detrimental decision by an
individual doesn t leave other unaffected. Even in Mill s hypothetical scenario of the bridge
crossing, a person could be under the bridge and become injured if the person falls while crossing.
Furthermore, a rescue crew could be sent and crash on the way there. There are far reaching
consequences beyond the individual and his/her decision that need to be taken into

Home Front Rationing
During the war, people received ration books. The books included the person s name, address,
city and state. People were also given ration coins that allowed cashiers to give change for food
purchased with ration stamps. People were given these because items during the war were scarce.
The first food item s prices that were frozen on the market by the United StatesOffice of Price
Administration (OPA) were sugar and coffee.
The reason things were rationed was due to little production. Was items were the priority of
being produced over household items to help win the war. This meant that everything needed to
be rationed for everyone to get their equal share. Sugar, meat, tires, silk, gasoline, shoes, nylon,
and more were all rationed to American people. Chicken wire, used for fencing in animals was
also being rationed. Pretty much anything you could think of had to be rationed, because the
most important focus at the time was the war. The title of Few Nylons meant that women had
rations on stockings. Also their clothes were cut down to save material. Their hem and belt
width was cut down to two inches. The cuffs on the sleeves of their clothes were no longer
allowed. The availability of nylon stockings was scarce. The restrictions for women s apparel
saved yardage of material for other clothes used in war. The War Production Board (WPB) was in

Examples Of Religion In Lord Of The Flies
Religion in Chaotic Societies Such as Brave New World and Lord of the Flies Differences
dominate the varying cultures and societies of the world. Differences appear everywhere, from
cultural norms to forms of government. Most, if not all civilizations rely on some form of
religion. Whether a society relies on a singular extraterrestrial force as a god, or many gods who
exist as one, each culture relies on religionto calm the chaotic nature of the world. The 20th
century novels, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, and Brave New Worldby Aldous Huxley,
both use the of Christ like archetypes, upon which societies depend when they fall into chaos, in
an attempt to calm the disarray of everyday reality. Human nature naturally gravitates towards a
religious figure when reality becomes overwhelming. Selflessness and sympathy build the
archetype of a Christ like figure. Christ like figures work to aid the society, demonstrating
selflessness and generosity. In Lord of the Flies, Simon remains selfless in the face of adversity.
While the other boys obsess and fight over hunting and fire, Simon helps take care of the littluns.
To the littluns, Simon acts as a Christ like figure: Simon found for them the fruit they could not
reach, pulled off the choicest from up in the foliage, passed them back down to the endless,
outstretched hands (Golding 56). Golding shows how Christ like figures demonstrate selflessness
to others, providing the best for other people rather than for

Federal Tax Policies For The United States
Despite the revisions on the Amendment throughout the following decades, and on into the
twentieth century, the in come tax today is as reasonably fair to the public as the taxations have
ever been, and probably ever will be. The Primary concern here is that today, federal income tax
accounts for somewhat half of the federal revenue. With taxreform, the government never sought a
way out of debt for their homeland, it was, and always will be a way to claim money from the
human resources it ultimately requires to participate in war, then takes the majority of that money
and funds war. The US tax policies will always incorporate enough revenue to stay at war, even if
the well being of the US is not in direct threat of any entities either... Show more content on

The Republican parties seem to favor lower tax rates with less movement of the rates of taxation
across the tax bracket. The Democratic parties are leaning more towards raising taxes on those in
higher tax brackets on the basis that the government should obtain more revenue from those who
can afford it more easily. However, as the Amendment is written, maybe the 16th Amendment
wouldn t be fare to those households with higher income being taxed at a heavier rate than those
of lower income households. The 16th Amendment is written to contain such elements to ensure
it being constitutional, however these same elements could do just the opposite. In regards to the
abilities of the 16th Amendment, Erik Jenson shows that is possible, A simple example makes
the point: suppose states A and B have equal populations, but state A s citizens have double the
income of those in state B. With apportionment, the total collected from the two states would
have to be equal. On average, the citizens of state B would have to pay tax at double the rates
applicable to citizens in state A . (Jenson, 109:799(2014)) This would be the part where we show
thanks that the government doesn t weigh heavier taxes on those who of higher income homes
because the pendulum swings both ways. The New Deal of the 1930 s may also be constitutional;
as well at it may also be apportioned. With the Presidents passed being concerned with the freedom

Guildsmen sat on top of their horses different than everybody else, because of the entitlement of
being a part of a union making the guildsmen feel like they re better than others around them.
They sat with their back straight, eyes forward worrying about nobody but there self, making sure

Nevertheless, the term of awareness is perpetually accompanied with the level of knowledge, as
seen the studies of Aadam T. Aris (2012), Joyce K.H. Nga (2010) and Indrani R. Halady, 2010),
or with certain level of engagement in the practice (Faisal Talib, 2012), or recognition and
assigning oneself to the subject matter (Gudmundur Aevar Oddsson, 2010), or understanding and
perception (Diana Bowman, 2007), or exposure to subject without in depth knowledge (Donna
Morrison, 2012) or even relating awareness to the fact of knowing the existence of the subject
matter, differentiating it from knowledge (Akinniyi A. Adeleke, 2012). A research was also
conducted to investigate a level of awareness by asking the respondents to rate their performance
as to prove their level of awareness towards their physical activities, and this was even validated
with heart rate monitors and accelerometers (Stef P.J. Kremers, 2008). Appreciation on the other

Vogel, 2011, p 55). It is suitable to say Freud felt that human behavior, including brutal behavior,
was the result of oblivious powers working inside the human mind. Freud likewise felt that early
adolescence encounters profoundly affected youthful and grown up behavior.
In essence, positivism believes that the criminal is neither responsible nor accountable for their
actions as they were a victim of circumstance. Biological positivism attributes criminal tendencies to
physical or mental characteristics. Psychological positivism credited psychological dynamics
predisposing an individual to engage in criminal acts (Bernstein, 2009).

Islam the Straight Path
Islam The Straight Path
An evaluation of the book by John L. Esposito: Islam The Straight Path.
In this book , Esposito provides a succinct, up to date survey of the Islamic experience, an
introduction to the faith, belief, and practice of Islam from its origins to its contemporary
resurgence. He traces the emergence and development of this dynamic faith and its impact on
world history and politics. He discusses the formation of Islamic belief and practice (law, theology,
philosophy, and mysticism), chronicling the struggle of Muslims to define and adhere to their
Islamic way of life. Equally important is the essential information Esposito provides on the
contemporary world of Islam, from Muslim responses to the challenges of ... Show more content on

Coming to an end at the Muslims of Western Europe, the presence of Muslims in Europe is not a
new force, but a generation of siege and conquer. Over the years Ottomans and other missionaries
have put forward their idea of Islam in many parts of Europe, including Bosnia and Romania.
The Importance of Understanding Muslims and Islam:
Muslims and Islam are two related terms, at the same time different in its application. Let us first
talk about the importance of understanding the term Muslims. Muslims are people who belong to
the religion Islam. Muslims could act in various ways, presenting their actions differently, a Muslim
from India or South Africa. Another good example of a Muslim view would be, the performance of
their political and sect actions.
For example, Saidi Qutb of Egypt believed the west is corrupt in their actions and he has different
view of the West. The other example would be Saudi Arabia s acceptance of United States Forces
to land in the holy place of Islam and welcoming the west.
Our second question deals with the understanding of Islam. The message that this faith brings to the
world is important to understand that Islam claims the holy message of God, a force that has
brought a completion to the writings of the three holy books of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Islam is a religion that has brought peace,

Figurative Language In Ozymandias
Can one person truly immortalize himself? This is a question most people are often plagued with.
Although one s body is mortal, Ozymandias, written by Shelley, conveys the truth of immortality.
The poem is about a traveler telling a story about an Egyptian pharaoh,
Ozymandias, and his statue. In the poem, a statue of Ozymandias is described by the author as
crumbled and scarcely left. Even though he was successful in his time period, his legacy could not
last. Therefore, no matter how much power one holds, his work will eventually be forgotten to all
and left in the past. Nothing truly can remain throughout all of time: everything one built will
eventually be destroyed by time. The idea that power is transient is portrayed through
Shelley s use of irony, symbolism, and figurative language.
Irony is extremely prevalent in this poem, contrasting power and mortality. Throughout this piece,
the author describes Ozymandias as a ruthless and powerful Egyptian ruler, but continually relates
back to the current state of his achievements. For instance, the engraving on
Ozymandias s statue states,
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Sarah Kelley: good title
Sarah Kelley: citation needed
Labas 2
The author dictates that Ozymandias was attempting for his statue to be a symbol of strength.
This is evident through how he views himself, as the King of Kings , and how he tells people that
view the statue that they must look at everything he has accomplished and cower before his power.
However, there is nothing left of his work, except for his crumbling statue and his kingdom of
ruins. This use of irony strengthens the idea that power is transient because
Ozymandias was extremely feared and he held a massive amount of authority. Nevertheless, all that
he succeeded in building played victim to the cruel hands of time. The irony transforms the tone of
the poem from prideful to pitiful.
Furthermore, symbolism plays a huge part in this poem. One of the main symbols in this piece
was the sand. Shelley mentions the sand multiple times to draw emphasis to it, and pairs it with
words such as stretch and level . These words pertain to time, and one can assume the sand is
referring

Silent Tears Short Story
The Silent Tears
Have you ever being robbed? Being robbed is not about being brave, but being safe.
During the Christmas holiday season when I was 14, I woke up early on a beautiful Monday
morning trying to find my dad. My dad had a small business at the market place, and I wanted to
go to work with him that morning. I was in need of extra money for Christmas gifts. I was full of
energy, enthusiasm, confidence and a heart full of love and trust. When I finally found my dad
who was outside loading the car with the merchandise, I asked Dad can I go to work with you
today? I want to help you, so I can make some extra money for gifts. There was a long pause
before he said Are you sure you can handle it, remember it is Christmas time and people come
from all over the place to shop, and we will be very busy. I quickly replied Of course, I am good
with math, and how hard it could be to sell the famous chine melamine dishes? After all they sell
own its own. Well my father continues Let s take your sister to help you too.
On our way to the Market my dad said I will help you girls to set up and I need to head out to
storage to get more merchandise Before he left he reminded us of the prices of all the items we
will be selling in our little store. While we waited for my father to return, we practiced our math
so we will be right on with the money. As the time passed my sister and I became better at the
small addition and subtraction equations we were practicing. We felt more and more confident
so we began to sell more and more. As this beautiful Monday morning continued things took a
turn for the worst. A pregnant women approached us and bought more than 100 dollars of item.
She had asked me to help her with her bags, the woman had told me that she was incapable of
lifting heavy things. Once we got to her house she had promised me that she should pay and tip
me. As the nice 14 year old I was I thought that this would be a win win situation. As we began the
short walk to her house, she began to compliment me and out nice conversation had allowed for
me to build a trust with the unknown woman, and did not suspect anything would go wrong. Once
we got to a certain ally which the woman said was on the way to her

Abstinence-Only Curriculum
The controversial topic of whether or not sex education curriculum should teach contraceptive use
or abstinence only is heavily debated. In 2013, the U.S. totaled 273,105 babies born by teenagers,
ages from 15 to 19 ( About Teen Pregnancy ). This raises the question: why is the number of
pregnancies so high? Is the reason for that unsettling high, number because abstinence only is being
taught or contraceptive use is being taught? Students who are taught abstinence only are more
likely to wait to have sex, which results in the lowering of teen pregnancy. The abstinence only
curriculum also reduces students sexual activity. The sex educationcurriculum in the U.S. should

Many think that teaching students about contraceptives will reduce teenagers from having
unplanned pregnancies. Research confirms that education provided by Planned Parenthood, which
teaches contraceptive use, helps increase the use of contraceptives and condoms when students do
become sexually active (Neering). This means that they stress the use of condoms over the idea of
waiting. What happens when condoms or birth control fail? The curriculum of abstinence only
believes that teaching contraceptive use just encourages teenagers to become sexually active
(ProQuest). According to the Center of Disease Control, waiting lowers the risk of unintended
pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases ( Sex Ed Must Stress Value of Abstinence. ). If they
are not in the situation of possibly having sex, then they do not face having an unplanned
pregnancy. Kane 3
Overall, sex education in U.S. schools should remain abstinence only curriculum. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students to wait to have sex. On the other hand, people believe that
contraceptive use curriculum will teach students to have less unprotected sex. This leaves the
possibility of the contraceptive failing, and having unplanned pregnancy. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students that waiting is the best option for a good, healthy

developing in the terms of technology used in theatres, but this will focus on the later part of the

Summary Of KeatsOde To A Nightingale
Keats Ode to a Nightingale, can be classified as one of those most well known Odes to ever be
written. Although the poem is a tough lyrical poem to understand, it is as if the poet feels the
pain and bleakness from the day to day repetitiveness of life; therefore, seeks to disappear into
the make believe world of the Nightingale to find relief which eventually leads him to
acknowledgment. While listening to the Nightingale sing, the poet describes Greek and Roman
figures to enhance the feelings he is portraying. The poet described an inconsistent life of
contradictory using the concept of life and death. As well as, representing the struggle of reality
and fantasy achieved through a transformed state of mind. One can see the poet s feelings are
described by words that show the mood of the situation while his thoughts change throughout the
poem. The day to day life of the poet is filled with pain and disappointment. Although the poem
starts out with, My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains (Line 1), momentarily, the poet is
happy because of the singing Nightingale which he describes as, some melodious plot (Line 8);
and it Singest of summer in full throated ease (Line 10). The poet uses musical language to give
the audience the portrayal of how the bird is singing. Quickly, the narrator is filled with agony
because he remembers that life is unpleasant and could be explained in the third stanza, Where

Minimum Driving Age Should Not Be Raised To 18 Essay
The big one six is an age kids look forward to their whole lives. A new found freedom teens gain
when turning sixteen is driving. Driving is a privilege and an incentive for teens, and driving opens
up a world of opportunities to young adults. Some people think teens are too immature to drive and
should wait until adulthood, however the minimum drivingage should not be raised from sixteen to
eighteen. Sixteen should be the age to drive because parents cannot run teens everywhere,
eighteen is a very busy age, and not all teens are immature. Moms and dads have a very busy
schedule. When teens reach the legal driving age a little of the stress parents have on their
shoulders is lifted off. Teens can drive to and from school, practice, extracurricular... Show more

The false assumptions people have about teens is unfair to the teens who are actually
responsible. I as a teen understand how dangerous driving is and how I am responsible for my
passengers lives while at the wheel. Why should the driving privilege given to teens at sixteen
be changed because of a few bad kids? People need not to have a bad outlook on teens just
because some teens are infact immature, but some adults are not very mature either. Teens just
need to not be stereotypes then teenagers would not have any excuse to act up if people expected
more out of them. Sixteen year olds are perfectly capable of driving, and the new found
responsibility could even make teens act more mature. Busy parents, a busy young adult life, and
mature teens are why the legal driving age should not be raised to the minimum age of eighteen.
Sixteen is a traditional milestone in a teens life, why would one want to take that tradition away?
All the opportunities sixteen year olds receive driving would be ruined if the driving age is
changes to eighteen, which could also ruin a teens future. Driving is an American rite of passage
and the system for it is fine just the way it is. Let s keep the age sixteen sweet and leave the legal
driving age

The Bastard Out Of Carolina
Bastard out of Carolina is a novel which examines the expectation of a mother child relationship,
child maltreatment and gender roles. It is based on the narrative of Ruth Anne Bone Boatright
who grows up in rural Greenville County, South Carolina in the 1950 s and 60 s. Bone s 15 year
old mother, Anney Boatright, conceived Bone out of wedlock after being injured in a car accident
which ultimately led to an illegitimate stamp on Bones birth certificate. Bone was raised in a very
disadvantaged part of town. In an attempt to make sense of the chaotic and confusing dark world
she lives in, she looked at her extended non traditional family for support (grandmother, Aunts,
uncles and cousins). Circumstances regarding socio economic status, gender, race, sexuality and
child maltreatment play out in Bone s life as well as in her relationships with others throughout the
novel. The focus is on Bone s relationship with her mother Anney, the abuse that Bone endured
from Anney s second husband Glen Daddy Glen Waddell and Anney s attempt to deal with the
abuse she eventually witnessed herself. Bone endured maternal neglect from Anney as Anney
ignored the long term abuse and ultimately ran away with the abuser to continue a relationship.
Even after several witnessed beatings, Anney would allow her love for Glen overpowers her need
to protect and love Bone. Bone was also a victim of physical, psychological and sexual abuse. After
a couple of years into the relationship with

species, there are around 500 human inhabitants. This region is one of the largest wetlands in the

The Native Americans, also known as the Calusa and the Seminoles, had made their refuge in
the Everglades. Later on, after the Seminole Wars (1817 1858), English settlers had begun to
invade the Everglades landscape. They saw the Everglades as useless and in desperate need of
help. The settlers started to build canals and irrigation systems, directing the water toward them
and disrupting the Everglades natural flow. They plowed over the land and quickly, the
Everglades started to shrink. These developments had a strong effect on the local area as well as
the world as its only Everglades began to diminish. When the people started to notice the impact
of their actions on the Everglades, they finally decided to do something about it. In 1934, the
Everglades National Park was authorized. Its aim is to protect what is left of the Everglades
because of its importance to the environment and also to us. There are about 500 human inhabitants
(recorded in 2004) living in the Everglades today. These people depend on the elements within this
vast ecosystem. Surrounding communities also depend on the features of the Everglades. Water
from Everglades National Park and other areas, drains into the Biscayne Aquifer, which is the
source of drinking water for Dade, Broward and some Palm Beach County residents. Meaning more
than 7.7 million people depend on the Everglades for drinking water. Without the Everglades

Nsa Is The Spying Ofu.s Citizens
The National Security Agency (NSA) has been an information gathering arm of the Executive
branch since the Cold War and continues to be an essential part of ensuring the security of the
United States. The public issue that involves the NSA is the spying of U.S citizens which can be
seen as a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution. This was revealed to
the public by the whistleblower Edward Snowden who released classified documents of activities
that the NSA had been conducting in conjuncture with telecommunication companies, which
angered many U.S citizens and received media coverage with a call for the U.S Government to
restrict the NSA s activities or at least for there to be Congressional oversight. This debate
revolves around how much the NSA s surveillance activities are actually used for national security
as well as the constitutionality of the NSA s surveillance. This all began after the terrorist attacks
on September 11, 2001 when there was a call for the attacks to never happen again and the
adoption of the Patriot Act in that same year which increased the power of the NSA.
The National Security Agency over the past few years was revealed to have spied on American
citizens under what can be considered illegal or unconstitutional circumstances which sparked
concern and outrage across most of America. This was first recognized in 2013 when the

  • 2. Use Theories Of Emotional Intelligence Of Daniel Goleman It can be concluded ,that leadership requirement may vary from situation to another ,so it is important to be flexible on various kinds of situations .Many authoritative leaders use penalties against their employee that will lead to tension ,absence of innovation and moral fall ,that can affect the performance of the organization. Also lessez faire style can bring to staff an informal selection for guidance that might be successful in certain environment, yet can fail in another .Personally, democratic and behavioural style are highly concerned with my subordinates with whom I feel open and easy to communicate and deliver to achieve goals ,so flexibility doesn t mean a transformation in personality it s all about changing tactics in various situation that a manager can face . 1.2 Use theories of emotional intelligence to review the effect of emotions on own and others performance . • 3. Chaos In The Odyssey As I began to read Homer s The Odyssey, I must admit that I was searching for acts of chaos in the most general form. I was looking for Homer to express his views of chaos vividly and distinctly. However, Homer does something different. He imbeds his imagery of chaos in the journey of Odysseus s son (Telemachus) to avenge his father by getting rid of his mother s suitors, and by bringing word of his father s return back to Ithaca. One chaotic point that stood out to me in Homer s The odysseywas when Telemachus was expressing his fear of living in his own home because he was afraid his mother s suitors would kill him They are eating us out of house and home, and will kill me someday (184). This was a chaotic point because during the time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. When Joseph Stalin Took Over Russia After Lenin By 1928, When Joseph Stalin took over Russia after Lenin by 1928, the country s policy on how it was going to industrialize changed. Stalin said, We are fifty or a hundred years behind the advanced countries. We must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or we shall go under. 12 Stalin believed that if the USSR did not industrialize then it would be the death of them because they will be vulnerable both economically and militarily. Stalin said, Everything can be achieved, everything can be overcome, if there is a passionate desire for it. 13 By saying this Stalin is reassuring the people with doubt that this goal can be accomplished. In order for this seemingly impossible task to be accomplished passionate soviets would be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between Lenin and Stalin was that Stalin wanted this all done in ten years so he was more drastic than Lenin. Peasants were not at all pleased because they liked how they were prospering before, so to retaliate they burned their crops and slaughtered their livestock as to sabotage what the central government was trying to do and how they were trying to get it done.18 The slaughter of livestock and burning of crops led to the famine of 1931 1932 that caused the death of five to seven million people.19 The Ukraine was especially hit hard by famine it was not unusual for families to starve and stay alive for as long as they could then they would just die.20 The famine caused so many deaths that trains were needed to collect corpses from peasant villages who had died from starvation .21 In extreme cases, although not too uncommon, families would turn to cannibalism to stay alive. Some families even murdered their children and would eat them in order to continue on living.22 In order to get the actual work done Stalin made changes in society. One change was the conditions of labor, now forced labor was the norm and it was always intensely disciplined.23 There were life and death incentives to having a job. In Cairo, the characters joined the revolution, in Lolita the character did not walk with her chaperon, and in Persepolis the character quietly rebelled against the government and its rules. To begin with, in the first source the main character, Ahdaf, decides to join the Egyptian revolution. The revolution started because the people of Egypt thought that the government was unfair and they needed a change. The author described the rebellionto be very violent as she states in lines 64 68 at the other end of the Midan, from the roof of the American University, the snipers were watching us, too silently. Aristotledefines the constitution as a certain ordering of the inhabitants of the city state. (1) The ancient Athenian governmentwas a democracy. Ancient Rome on the other hand, had a mixed constitution (2). Polybius writes the analysis of Constitution of the Roman Republic where he outlines the distinct branches of the Roman government and he explains why it worked. Athens had the most powerful democracy around at that time. Several other city states followed the same type of democracy because of the way it worked. It is truly amazing how the Athenian democracy achieved the concept of equal rights and created a system where no person or group can be more powerful than the other. The Athenian constitution is an interpretation on the development of constitutional in ancient Greece. The text of the constitution is written history of from a political standpoint. It outlines the progression of Greek rulers, and their rights and privileges. The constitution traces rulers along with their constitutional reforms all the way back to 403 BCE. Most people are not positive even once they have entered college as to what it is for sure they want to do. This MyPlan assessment was extremely informative in what my skills were and how I could use them. Going to the Career Center on February 5 really helped me to understand what my results meant and what I could take out of this assessment. We took four tests, a personality, personal interest, skills, and values test. For my personality test report, there were 4 different categories looked at to come up with a combined census of what my personality is. You were either, extroverted or introverted, sensor or intuitive, thinker or feeler, and judger or perceiver. My results showed that I was ESTJ. Which means that I am extroverted, sensor, thinker, and a judger. Extroverts basically respond very well to social gatherings and like to be around people. They are usually very talkative and tend to work well in teams. Sensors seek specific answers to specific questions. Usually they do not have a very wide imagination and are more realistic. Thinkers believe that it is important to be right and honest with themselves than it is to be liked. A thinker seeks fairness and tend to be tough minded. Judgers appreciate organizations, punctuality, order, schedules, etc. Judgers tend to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wedian Ibrahim May 13, 2012 The Negative Impact of Conglomeration of Media Companies on Audiences The word conglomeration is defined as the formation of a large company by the merging of separate and diverse small firms. Media conglomerate is a large company or corporation formed by merging of different small media outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers, and internet. Big companies tend to buy out other smaller companies in the market to increase their revenue by increasing their viewership, and to control the smaller companies resources. This creates media oligopoly by which few firms dominate the market. This media conglomeration is threatening democracy because of its negative impact on audiences. Those... • 13. The Pros And Cons Of Corruption In Venezuela And Libya Introduction Imagine a world where daily planned blackouts and shorter workdays were implemented to conserve energy. For people living in Venezuela and Libya, this is very much the norm. In addition to being two of the most corrupt and politically unstable governments in the world, Venezuela and Libya are plagued with problems surrounding their energy sectors. This is surprising, since they are both globally known for being oil rich countries. Venezuelahad 300 billion barrels of oil reserves in 2016, passing oil rich Saudi Arabia at 266 billion barrels, Iran at 158 billion, and Iraq at 142 billion. Libya on the other hand, had about 50 billion barrels of reserves in 2015 (OPEC, 2016). So, where does the oil go and why do Venezuelans and Libyans suffer energy poverty if they live in oil rich regions of the world? Nearly all of it is exported out of the country for profit, leaving many of the local citizens in these two countries empty handed. Corruption revolving around these countries oil exports has pairs with political instability and leads to a plethora of economic, political, and social problems. Problem of State Ownership of Oil In Venezuela, one of the biggest economic and political problems regarding oil exports is that PetrГіleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), Venezuela s major oil and gas company, is state owned (Schuster, 2017). This means that corruption can run rampant, allowing political leaders to pocket money from exports. The fibrous plaque is often elevated and protrudes into the vessel lumen, partially or completely obstructing blood flow through the artery (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). When the coronary arteries are unable to meet the cardiac muscle s need for oxygen an imbalance occurs resulting in stable angina or unstable angina. With stable angina the plaque is fixed and is associated with chest discomfort in response to activities. Whenever the plaque that has been accumulating in the arteries ruptures the body responds by platelet aggregation, thrombus formation, and vasoconstriction as an inflammatory response known as acute coronary syndrome or unstable angina. This in turn narrows the blood vessels and can cause an increase in obstruction of the artery. Once the artery has plaque accumulation of 40%, blood flow starts being blocked. The amount of blood flow blocked through occlusion of the artery determines the disease process. M.C also had increased glucose levels while I was providing care. Hyperglycemia can cause increased inflammation of the blood vessel walls damaging the endothelial lining of the vessel. Hyperglycemia is another major cause for concern because it creates additional plaque buildup causing occlusion and further complications. I see God working through the history of mankind and God working throughout the history of Israel as well. I believe one can see that God is at work in the church as well. He is working to fulfill God s plans that has been in place before the foundation of the world. God s plan as the Apostle Paul says is to redeem his people in Ephesians 1:6 7. The Apostle Paul said, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (Ephesians 1:6†‬7 ESV). It is Genesis chapter 3 that we see the broken state of mankind, but God offers grace to mankind when He tells Eve her child (Jesus) would crush the serpent (Satan).‬ It is through the OT text that we see the interaction with God. However recently there have been many times were the lowest one is not chosen as it is too low and it may not give the client the moneys worth in the long term. One tender is chosen and one is chosen as a reserve, both of them are informed of their job. There is the assurance of price, as the client will understand the cost of the project, if all the work is fully designed in advance. This also allows a basis for variations to be priced at the rates given, it is also easier to analyse the prices. With this method the works can be done at the lowest price, getting the best value of money. The Midwest was dominated by four massive glaciers with Michigan s average glacial drift ranging from 200 to 300 feet and a thickness of 1,000 feet in some locations (2017, DNR). Michigan s glacial deposits are estimated to three hundred over the entire state (2009, Berquist). The melting allowed the liquefied water to carry the various rocks and soils in landscape deposits. As the melting increased, the weight of the glacier on the Michigan basin was decreasing. With less pressure on the basin, it began to rebound into its original shape while maintaining the integrity of the glacial deposit landforms. About fourteen thousand years ago, the Wisconsin Glacier covered the entirety of Michigan with its northernmost head at the Hudson Bay and stretching to the banks of the Ohio River as shown in Figure 1 (2017, DNR). The alpha amylase is essential in hydrolysis of starch molecules, as it catalysis splits in starch so that they consist of short chains of glucose units. These units can then be broken down by water allowing it to dissolve into the solution. Though the limitation associated with the alpha amylase is that excess concentrations cause odours to be trapped within clothing material. Additionally due to the presence of alkalis in laundry detergents it can cause an altering of pH, thus affecting the ability of the enzyme to catalyse reactions. Hence in order to understand the most optimal conditions for cleaning, this investigation will analyse the effects of amylase concentration within altering pH solutions to determine the best solution to aid in stain removal. The investigation will utilise fungal amylase, which is essential in replicating factory amylase which is implemented into house hold detergents. 1.2 Aim The aim of this investigation was to analyse the effects of altering pH and amylase concentration in starch removal in order to verify ... • 31. John Mill s On Liberty In John Mill s On Liberty, he addresses the topic of individual decision making and the restrictions that can be placed on it. Mill argues that if an object or action has potential for harm but also the potential to accomplish an outcome other than harm, then that event or object should not be forcibly regulated or restricted. He uses an example of a person crossing a dangerous bridge as support to his argument. Assuming that this individual is in a reasonable mental state, the individual should only be warned of the danger of crossing the bridge but not forcibly restricted from crossing. Mill states that because a poor outcome is only possible and not certain, the individual should be allowed to cross as this fits his definition of liberty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mill could make the argument, but what if the decision has no consequence for others? My rebuttable would be that there is rarely (if any) a scenario that a detrimental decision by an individual doesn t leave other unaffected. Even in Mill s hypothetical scenario of the bridge crossing, a person could be under the bridge and become injured if the person falls while crossing. Furthermore, a rescue crew could be sent and crash on the way there. There are far reaching consequences beyond the individual and his/her decision that need to be taken into ... People were also given ration coins that allowed cashiers to give change for food purchased with ration stamps. People were given these because items during the war were scarce. The first food item s prices that were frozen on the market by the United StatesOffice of Price Administration (OPA) were sugar and coffee. The reason things were rationed was due to little production. Was items were the priority of being produced over household items to help win the war. This meant that everything needed to be rationed for everyone to get their equal share. Sugar, meat, tires, silk, gasoline, shoes, nylon, and more were all rationed to American people. Chicken wire, used for fencing in animals was also being rationed. Pretty much anything you could think of had to be rationed, because the most important focus at the time was the war. Differences appear everywhere, from cultural norms to forms of government. Most, if not all civilizations rely on some form of religion. Whether a society relies on a singular extraterrestrial force as a god, or many gods who exist as one, each culture relies on religionto calm the chaotic nature of the world. The 20th century novels, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, and Brave New Worldby Aldous Huxley, both use the of Christ like archetypes, upon which societies depend when they fall into chaos, in an attempt to calm the disarray of everyday reality. Human nature naturally gravitates towards a religious figure when reality becomes overwhelming. Selflessness and sympathy build the archetype of a Christ like figure. Christ like figures work to aid the society, demonstrating selflessness and generosity. In Lord of the Flies, Simon remains selfless in the face of adversity. While the other boys obsess and fight over hunting and fire, Simon helps take care of the littluns. To the littluns, Simon acts as a Christ like figure: Simon found for them the fruit they could not reach, pulled off the choicest from up in the foliage, passed them back down to the endless, outstretched hands (Golding 56). Federal Tax Policies For The United States Despite the revisions on the Amendment throughout the following decades, and on into the twentieth century, the in come tax today is as reasonably fair to the public as the taxations have ever been, and probably ever will be. The Primary concern here is that today, federal income tax accounts for somewhat half of the federal revenue. With taxreform, the government never sought a way out of debt for their homeland, it was, and always will be a way to claim money from the human resources it ultimately requires to participate in war, then takes the majority of that money and funds war. The Republican parties seem to favor lower tax rates with less movement of the rates of taxation across the tax bracket. The Democratic parties are leaning more towards raising taxes on those in higher tax brackets on the basis that the government should obtain more revenue from those who can afford it more easily. However, as the Amendment is written, maybe the 16th Amendment wouldn t be fare to those households with higher income being taxed at a heavier rate than those of lower income households. The 16th Amendment is written to contain such elements to ensure it being constitutional, however these same elements could do just the opposite. In regards to the abilities of the 16th Amendment, Erik Jenson shows that is possible, A simple example makes the point: suppose states A and B have equal populations, but state A s citizens have double the income of those in state B. With apportionment, the total collected from the two states would have to be equal. On average, the citizens of state B would have to pay tax at double the rates applicable to citizens in state A . (Jenson, 109:799(2014)) This would be the part where we show thanks that the government doesn t weigh heavier taxes on those who of higher income homes because the pendulum swings both ways. It is suitable to say Freud felt that human behavior, including brutal behavior, was the result of oblivious powers working inside the human mind. Let us first talk about the importance of understanding the term Muslims. Muslims are people who belong to the religion Islam. Muslims could act in various ways, presenting their actions differently, a Muslim from India or South Africa. • 41. Figurative Language In Ozymandias Can one person truly immortalize himself? This is a question most people are often plagued with. Although one s body is mortal, Ozymandias, written by Shelley, conveys the truth of immortality. The poem is about a traveler telling a story about an Egyptian pharaoh, Ozymandias, and his statue. In the poem, a statue of Ozymandias is described by the author as crumbled and scarcely left. Even though he was successful in his time period, his legacy could not last. Therefore, no matter how much power one holds, his work will eventually be forgotten to all and left in the past. Nothing truly can remain throughout all of time: everything one built will eventually be destroyed by time. The idea that power is transient is portrayed through Shelley s use of irony, symbolism, and figurative language. Irony is extremely prevalent in this poem, contrasting power and mortality. Throughout this piece, the author describes Ozymandias as a ruthless and powerful Egyptian ruler, but continually relates back to the current state of his achievements. For instance, the engraving on Ozymandias s statue states, My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Sarah Kelley: good title Sarah Kelley: citation needed Labas 2 The author dictates that Ozymandias was attempting for his statue to be a symbol of strength. This is evident through how he views himself, as the King of Kings , and how he tells people that view the statue that they must look at everything he has accomplished and cower before his power. However, there is nothing left of his work, except for his crumbling statue and his kingdom of ruins. This use of irony strengthens the idea that power is transient because Ozymandias was extremely feared and he held a massive amount of authority. Nevertheless, all that he succeeded in building played victim to the cruel hands of time. The irony transforms the tone of the poem from prideful to pitiful. Furthermore, symbolism plays a huge part in this poem. One of the main symbols in this piece was the sand. Shelley mentions the sand multiple times to draw emphasis to it, and pairs it with words such as stretch and level . These words pertain to time, and one can assume the sand is referring ... • 50. The Everglades Research Paper The Everglades is a vast region that stretches from the Kissimmee River to Lake Okeechobee and is filled with a unique and world famous ecosystem that is exclusive to the rest of the world. It is located in southern Florida and takes up 1.5 million of the land. While there are many diverse species, there are around 500 human inhabitants. This region is one of the largest wetlands in the US and the only existing Evergladesin the entire world. Because of this and other pressing factors, about one fifth of the Everglades are protected by the Everglades National Park. The fact that the Everglades are one of kind also means that anything that happens not only affects itself locally, but also nationally and globally. And now, there are many problems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Native Americans, also known as the Calusa and the Seminoles, had made their refuge in the Everglades. Later on, after the Seminole Wars (1817 1858), English settlers had begun to invade the Everglades landscape. They saw the Everglades as useless and in desperate need of help. The settlers started to build canals and irrigation systems, directing the water toward them and disrupting the Everglades natural flow. They plowed over the land and quickly, the Everglades started to shrink. These developments had a strong effect on the local area as well as the world as its only Everglades began to diminish. When the people started to notice the impact of their actions on the Everglades, they finally decided to do something about it. In 1934, the Everglades National Park was authorized. Its aim is to protect what is left of the Everglades because of its importance to the environment and also to us. There are about 500 human inhabitants (recorded in 2004) living in the Everglades today. These people depend on the elements within this vast ecosystem. Surrounding communities also depend on the features of the Everglades. Water from Everglades National Park and other areas, drains into the Biscayne Aquifer, which is the source of drinking water for Dade, Broward and some Palm Beach County residents. Meaning more than 7.7 million people depend on the Everglades for drinking water. Without the Everglades ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Sea Cow Extinction The reading states that there are three theories about the main cause of the extinction of the Steller s sea cow. However, the professor explained that we do not know the cause of sea cow extinction and there is problems in the theories of the reading passage. INTRAGENERATIONAL DISCOUNTING * Consumption rate of interest cum shadow price of capital method (CRI SPC Method) * The level of public investment should be based on individual preference for present consumption vs. future consumption * The marginal rate of time preference * Investment is simply a means of using resources that are potentially available for consumption now in order to increase consumption later * Individuals typically have a positive rate of time preference * They demand compensation when forgoing present for future consumption * SDR ... • 53. Nsa Is The Spying Ofu.s Citizens The National Security Agency (NSA) has been an information gathering arm of the Executive branch since the Cold War and continues to be an essential part of ensuring the security of the United States. The public issue that involves the NSA is the spying of U.S citizens which can be seen as a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution. This was revealed to the public by the whistleblower Edward Snowden who released classified documents of activities that the NSA had been conducting in conjuncture with telecommunication companies, which angered many U.S citizens and received media coverage with a call for the U.S Government to restrict the NSA s activities or at least for there to be Congressional oversight. This debate revolves around how much the NSA s surveillance activities are actually used for national security as well as the constitutionality of the NSA s surveillance. This all began after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 when there was a call for the attacks to never happen again and the adoption of the Patriot Act in that same year which increased the power of the NSA. The National Security Agency over the past few years was revealed to have spied on American citizens under what can be considered illegal or unconstitutional circumstances which sparked concern and outrage across most of America. This was first recognized in 2013 when the whistleblower Edward Snowden or traitor as the United States government considers him, leaked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
