Introduction
Parks/IAC/Factories have been shut and
closed since mid-March, expected to remain
so until end of May.
Park/IAC setup/machinery designed for
continuous, regular usage.
This presents the issue of maintenance and
post-lockdown procedures to ensure
machine operability and staff as well as
guest safety.
Certain steps and guidelines have been listed
out to help ease the process.
Equip park
staff
It is strongly recommended that
there should be at least three to
four persons in each group with
proper PPE and special
instruments like gunny bag, snake
stick etc.
Follow guidelines as per
Government PPE.
SOP to be made from home to
work, at work and back home.
Hazardous/
Inflammable substance
management
Hazardous materials stored at the park/facility can be a
potential hazard as many materials/tasks could have been
left incomplete/unattended due to the lockdown. The
following must be carried out to ensure safety:
•Cleaning the facility for dry leaves Precautions to be taken
for animals/ reptiles/ insects etc. as covered in later points.
•Check for storage of inflammable substances.
•Check for in-complete works left on the last working day
which can harm or have serious consequences.
•Check for proper stowage of chemicals like chlorine, gases,
etc.
• If any gaseous chemicals are stored in the facility like
petrol, diesel, thinner, resin, catalyst etc. than there
lids be opened and gases be released and tightened
back
• Segregate the chemically reacting components in
separate areas, preferably away from electrical
components.
• Store them as per guidelines of manufacturer.
Example: cool, cool and dry areas etc.
• LPG/oxygen/acetylene etc. to be secured separately
in a cool dry place.
Clearance of animals/
insects/reptiles/
beehives
• Bushes/ hedges
• Tanks
• Holes
• Under platforms
• Drive areas
• Under slides
• Balancing tanks
• Wave pool machine room
• Empty pools

“If it’s
cold and
dark, I will
hide
there.”
Abnormalities
It is essential to inspect the Park/IAC/Factory site
for any abnormalities. The process should be done
in as objective a manner as possible, and
thoroughly.
Plant and
Machinery
Plant and machinery need special attention before
re-starting. As the machines have been shut for a
long period they would need special care before
starting. Some of the critical components and care
they need are listed as under:
1. Electrical
2. Water works
3. Dry Rides
4. Water Rides
5. Indoor Amusement Centre
6. Food court
Electrical Components
Maintenance checklist
•Electrical panel is the first item staff must go and test.
•Check that the power is shut for all sections of the park.
•Test ELCB main panel.
•Check for loose/cut cables if any.
•Inspect the general condition of the panel.
•Inspect the general condition of sub panels.
•Check if all rides/slides/attractions/major equipment ELCB/MCCB
are shut down
•Switch on the supply zone/attraction wise.
•Switch on the related zone/attraction sub panel and perform
ELCB test.
•Ensure nothing is placed under/near electrical
switches/sockets/distribution box.
•All electrical hand tools to be unplugged and stored.
•Welding set and other heavy electrical machines to be
disconnected.
Water Works
Maintenance checklist
•Switch on the source of water (borewell) and let
it flow in the drain for at least 5 minutes.
•If the fountains were left with water, the water
would have contaminated by now. In that case
drain the water and clean algae.
•If you have RO plant, clean the system, run on
backwash (5-7 mins) then rinse (2-3 mins) and
run the RO water in drain for 2 mins before
drinking.
•Drain all overhead tanks.
•Clean all drinking water tanks before refilling (if
to be used during lockdown).
•All washroom flushes and urinals water may be
flushed at least 2-3 times.
•All floor mattings be rolled and stored.
Dry Rides
Maintenance checklist
• Check the ride drive area and rotating area for any unwanted
substance/material.
• If the ride has pneumatic/solid tyres and the tyre is inflated –
rotate the ride and ensue the tyre rotates 180 degree else
would leave a permanent mark or damage to the tyre.
• Do not run the ride for a complete cycle until and unless all
steps in daily/weekly/monthly maintenance are performed.
• Ensure the control panel is in locked position and covered
properly.
• If possible cover the motors and drive with plastic sheet.
• If possible remove the pressure from tyres.
• Inflatables, if any, should be deflated and stored indoors.
• Check if load can be removed from wire ropes
• Lubricate wire ropes with manufacturer’s advised lubricant.
• Lubricate all foundation bolts.
Water Rides
Maintenance checklist
• In case the slide was not thoroughly cleaned on the last working day
with fresh water, there would be a scale of chlorine and dust
accumulation on the surface.
•Clean the slide thoroughly with fresh water (do not run the slide
pump directly).
• If the pool was left with water it would be contaminated by now. If
possible, drain the water out and clean the pool.
• Do not leave the pool completely dry, it is recommended to have at
least 50 mm of water on surface of the pool if not a sloped pool.
• Remove all the grating and store in a shaded area.
• Drain all pressure vessels and keep the drain plug open. (Pressure
sand filters, compressors etc.)
• Check and stow all costumes properly.
•Check and stow all floats and mats properly.
• Check and store audio system of rain dance in cool dry place.
