Panniculectomy Essay
A review of the records reveals the member to be an adult female with a birth date of 10/21/1965. The
member has a diagnosis of psoriasis and large pannus. The member s treating provider, Stephen Fox,
MD recommended the member undergo a panniculectomy, which was performed on 06/06/2016.
The carrier has denied coverage of the panniculectomy as not medically necessary. There is a letter
from the carrier to the member dated 07/14/2016 which states in part:
The Committee upheld the denial based on the Definition of Medically Necessary per parts 1, 2, 4 and
Exclusion 9.
Based on the clinical documentation, the procedure is not medically necessary because the procedure
was not consistent with your condition or in accordance with the generally accepted standards of

Sex Drugs And Roll Essay
Sex, drugs and rock and roll. These were the values of the young generation of the mid 1960 s. This
generation was pushing the limits of sexual, social, and political inhibitions and behind the force of
their hippie love was the engine of psychedelic rock and roll music. This genre of rock music is
inspired by the counterculture scene of the 1950 s and 60 s and attempts to capture the mind altering
feelings and emotions attached to psychedelic drugs. The first group to advertise themselves as
psychedelic rock was the 13th Floor Elevators from Texas, at the end of 1965. However, the
partnership of drugs and music goes back much further than that. The Beat Generation writers in the
second half of the 1950 s, such as William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, used and
wrote about drugs like cannabis and Benzidrine, which popularized and raised more awareness of drug
use. The culture of drug use had long pervaded jazz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the first psychedelic single to reach the US top ten charts in July 1966 was Psychotic Reaction
by Count Five who were a garage band in San Jose, California. And one of the most famous
psychedelic era bands, The Doors, arose out of Los Angeles. Many other cities outside of California
also contributed to the progression of psychedelic music, such as New York City, Detroit, Chicago,
and even Austin, Texas. Psychedelic music was also becoming more prominent in the UK around
1966. Bands like Pink Floyd, Traffic, Soft Machine, Cream, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience (lead
by an American, but initially produced and managed in Britain) were all incorporating more drug
references and psychedelic elements. For example, The Rolling Stones incorporated many psychedelic
hints into their hit singles 19th Nervous Breakdown and Paint It, Black , which made use of drones

Voting Age To 16 Research Paper
The voting age has been a controversial topic for years now. In Indiana, voters have to be 18 before
the next General, Municipal, or Special Education to register to vote. Other states allow you to be
younger than 18 when you register as long as the voter is 18 when they are actually voting ( Voter
Registration Age Requirements by State. ). However, whether or not the voting age should remain 18
or go down to 16 has been debated and still remains questionable. Although this is quite the
controversial topic, many people side with the decision to lower the voting age to 16 and argue that
there are several pros. One of these pros is that teenagers spend more than half of their time in a
classroom setting. While emerged in this setting, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
16 year olds are not educated enough to make a decision on who should run our country. For example,
at Central High School, a student cannot take a Government class until their senior year, unless the
student is graduating early. Therefore, the student would not get a concept of politics unless they had
been previously educated by an outside source. The average 16 year old is either a sophomore or
junior. If the voting age was moved to 16, not only would the teenager be uneducated for their first
election, but they would not be educated until their senior year. Along with the lack of a political
education at school, the student has to endure outside opinions that could potentially swat the student s
political opinion. These outside sources, such as parental views, TV ads, friends opinions, etc., make it
hard for the inexperienced teenagers to have a mind of their own (Debono, Meaney). The average
teenager grows up in a household with a family; a family that has views of their. These views have
been instilled in their lives from birth. Once this has happened, the teenager s first response to
anything is what they ve always know and grown up with. If the voting age stayed the same, it would

To what extent is humanitarian intervention an abandoned...
To what extent is Humanitarian Intervention an abandoned project?
Humanitarian Intervention is military intervention that is carried out in pursuit of humanitarian rather
than strategic objectives. This term is controversial and therefore often debated, as it is an evaluative
and subjective term. The common use of the term itself is the desire to come in help to other people,
however according to some other opinions, it is the outcome of the intervention that defines it. Firstly,
it is essential to define what is meant by the word abandoned in this context. As HI has been
happening throughout history, abandoned would imply an on going lack or diminishing numbers of
interventions.
In humanitarianism, the most relevant key concept is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The efficiency of humanitarian intervention is normative because of people having different views on
the output and the unlikeliness of every one being pleased by the new regime therefore it is very hard
to affirm the real results of the intervention. In 2011, a group of countries intervened during the
Libyan civil war, which lead to the abolition of Muammar Gadhafi s regime. The Operation Unified
Protector by NATO was partly successful because they achieved to kill the dictator on 20th October,
but partly ineffective because the standards of living in Libya have not increased and the state is
facing a lack of government s ruling. This case study supports the statement that HI could be an
abandoned project as it is not always favourable to everyone.
Despite the fact that there is some failures, some beneficial interventions still occur. More cases for
intervention emerge due to globalization, which implies that states have closer links to each other and
therefore the responsibility to help becomes stronger. As countries generally develop through time,
people are more educated and communication is more open, which is a factor that governments cannot
control. Thus people are here and now more educated and therefore have the confidence to protest
when they feel that their human rights are abused in their nation. Protesting causes conflicts, that may
become violent and therefore

Benefits of Youth Sports
Benefits of Youth Sports Sports do not build character. They reveal it, said John Wooden, legendary
UCLA basketball coach. Playing sports not only provides physical activity, but also other positive
benefits. This is especially true for children. A well structured and organized youth program will
provide benefits and positive experiences for young athletes. While children are having fun
participating in sports they are also building character, learning to work as a team, and playing fairly.
Most people think the only benefits of sports are physical. Sports are more than just developing hand
eye coordination and burning calories, youth sports provide many developmental benefits, physical
benefits, and psychological benefits.

According to the American Heart Association, one in every three children is overweight. Children who
are overweight are more likely to be obese as adults, increasing their risk for diseases and conditions
such as diabetes, heart attack, and high blood pressure (Ashe Edmunds 3). High blood pressure can
lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. But weight loss can help reduce high blood pressure,
so sports that burn calories address this problem.
Depending on the sport that a child participates in, most sports require physical activity. Research has
shown that physical movement can affect the brain s physiology by increasing cerebral capillary
growth, blood flow, oxygenation, growth of nerve cells in the hippocampus, neurotransmitter levels,
development of nerve connections, density of neural network, and brain tissue volume (Donaldson 4).
In other words, physical exercise causes short term relaxation, improved concentration, enhanced
creativity and memory, improved mood, and enhanced problem solving abilities. Sport can help
prevent drug and alcohol abuse by teaching young athletes to be aware of their body and how it
responds to different stimuli and circumstances. Athletes learn to value what their bodies can do and to
maintain those abilities (Jones 2). Being an athlete gives kids an acceptable reason to say no to drugs,
alcohol, and other unhealthy behaviors when offered by their peers.

The Production Of Light Without Heat From A Chemical Reaction
An Introduction to Chemiluminescence
Chemiluminescence is the is the production of light without heat from a chemical reaction. In this
reaction, energy is released as electromagnetic radiation in the visible light spectrum. It does not
require the absorption of electromagnetic energy to excite molecules into a higher energy state.
Instead, the energetics of the reaction itself releases energy as light. This means that there there is an
intermediate molecule in an excited state which returns to a lower energy level, releasing its energy in
the form of a photon of light. The reaction within a glow stick is a primary example of
chemiluminescence. These reactions, which typically involve luminal, have been generally well
studied and its applications range from use in forensics for detecting traces of blood, in the
pharmaceutical industry for quality control and in clinical services. Chemiluminescence in Glow
Sticks
Since it s advent in 1965, glow sticks have been extensively used throughout society, serving a
multitude of purposes. For most people, the word glow sticks brings to mind little children frantically
waving them around on halloween, or perhaps even the idea of a jam packed neon lighted nightclub.
For major halloween buffs, myself included, the idea of glow sticks brings people back to their
childhoods, where glowsticks played a considerable role serving as a source of entertainment (and
light) during halloween and new year parties.

Evolution Of Science Classes At School
Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I
have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and
well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still
remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after,
he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I
always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an
exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon
discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people
known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the
biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable
and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe
evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it.
Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind
creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view
without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind.
In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by
God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal,
they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts.
For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all
seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not
yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom.
However, there are creation scientists who think

Stadium Contracts

The client must specify the type of building they require and the contractor proposes the best design to

A design and build project allows the low risk factor as for the client has the contractor takes on the

The first Scottish parliament building was created in September 1997 after a referendum in which
people of Scotland voted by almost three to one. The client, the Scottish government decided on
building a complex building from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite. The procurement route chosen
by the Scottish government was construction management. The web address www.parliament.uk
explains the procurement route chosen was to turn out to be the most significant decisions during the
project, and also states Construction management offers the advantage of speed but with the
disadvantage of price uncertainty until the last has been leased. Construction management was chosen
not only for allowing the project to be started quickly and the reduction in overall construction. But
the procurement route allows for change in design during the project and problems are generally
solved rather than passed around the separate contractors.
Choosing construction management as a procurement strategy means the client is responsible for

Love Medicine Summary
A Message of Hope in Love Medicine
Love Medicine, by Louis Eldridge attempts to confront the popular stereotypes of American Indians.
The novel generally follows the history of a family of Chippewa Indians who live on and off a
reservation.
In a thoroughly humanist approach, Ms. Eldrige narrates each chapter in a different voice, and through
extremely varied characters effectively shows the diversity of the Indians. This is an important aspect
of the novel, as it demonstrates that there is no single stereotypical Indian . The book begins with two
scenes from a modern perspective, showing a turbulent family with fairly disturbing problems. Then
the author flashes back to the lives of the Chippewa s family two generations ... Show more content on

Maybe this image came in several varieties but all images of the Indian had one common point:
Indians were another historical fact coupled with the romanticized images portrayed by the media. Our
outlook on Native Americans as a society is one which attaches every individual American Indian with
a cultural past which has absolutely nothing to do with the present day. Expecting an American Indian
to retain cultural beliefs and societal practices reflective of his heritage is like expecting an urbanized
American Swede to carry out a traditional 1500 s Swedish lifestyle in the 1990 s.
It is this issue which Love Medicine adresses so skillfully. The Chippewa family in the story is very
large. From the very beginning we see scenes of infidelity, drunken rampages, strained marriages,
hate, and poverty. These scenes offer a look into the lifestyle of the modern Native American which is
strikingly different from the comfortable images that we all harbor; images of a noble people living off
the land, in harmony with nature. So much for the romantic view of the noble savage . This leaves the
reader in the uncomfortable situation reconciling the two extremes images. The compromise is found
in the stories of the book. The individual narratives which show the world through the eyes of the
Chippewa s. A close examination of the stories reveals a subtle difference between everyday American
thought, and Chippewa thought. American s live in a

The Problem Of Police Brutality
Police brutality remains one of the most controversial, as well as the most serious human rights
violations in the United States. In the past year or we have heard, read, or witnessed unjustified
shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings, and rough treatment which have all contributed to the ever
present problem of police brutality in America. Police are the ones that set an image towards the
society so that people can actually follow them and think they are doing the right thing, however it is a

our officers of law really doing their job?
Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society. Most of these incidents go un
reported or un noticed. Through research, we seek to identify the causes of police brutality, and what
we can possibly do to end it, or in the hopes that it brings awareness. While doing research on police
brutality, I have observed countless online journal articles. These articles are written by professional
analysts that specialize in investigating specific incidents involving police misconduct. The term
police brutality is commonly used very loosely to fit all forms of police misconduct. The excessive

Periods of Greek Art
Greek art has changed throughout the years, yet some basic forms have remained. Time, technique, as
well as historical events have helped shape the way art has evolved since 600 B.C. Three important
periods in Greek art are the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods. We will discuss how art has
changed throughout these periods, what influences led to change, as well as why it changed. We will
also discuss what has remained constant through these periods. Since people s perceptions and taste of
art are different, some would say that art has become better with time, whereas others would say the
opposite, but nonetheless, it has evolved. The Archaic period dates from 800 B.C. to 480 B.C. The
Greeks were inspired by monumental stone sculpture of Egypt and Mesopotamia, sculpting in stone
began in Greece. However, although this was inspired by Egypt, there were significant differences
between how they were sculpted. For instance, take the Greek sculpture Kouros (c 580 B.C. made of
marble, standing at 6 4 tall) the standing male nude. While this resembled characteristics of Egypt
sculptures such as pose and proportion, his form becomes more dynamic as the sculpture is nude.
Kouros also appears to wear jewelry around his neck and the exquisite detail in the braids of his hair
suggest he is groomed and dressed properly. Another difference in Egypt and Greek sculptures, is that
Egypt s sculptures depict rulers and people of higher stature, where Greek sculptures would depict

In today s society the employees need to feel appreciated as well as motivated to do his or her
everyday job successfully. To run a successful business or police department, the workers must feel as
if he or she is satisfied with the results of his or her hard work as well as appreciated for everything he
or she has done. If the workers and the officers do not get the praise needed and the proper treatment
at work he or she would not want to come to work or would feel as if he or she does not have to do
much for the organization because nothing is giving back in return. Philosophical Approach
The philosophical approach that Captain Strong should take to carry out the project would be to find
what is causing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By cutting corners certain evidence or information could get lost as well as skipped and could cause
an innocent individual his or her freedom. Therefore, to make sure that all of the evidence in gathered
and every information is put into place the police officers must not feel rush and must take his or her
time to go study the reports and file his or her paperwork.
Motivational strategies
Motivational strategies that Captain Strong should consider is listening to what the officers have to say
and taking his or her needs into consideration. For example patrol officer in the department works
solo, and departmental police prohibits more than two officer eating meals or taking coffee breaks at
the same time in the same restaurant (More, Vito, amp; Walsh, 2012). Instead of having the officer s
work by his or her selves he or she should be paired off with someone this way a friendship can build
as well as morale s. By letting the officers take lunch together would give each the chance to relax and
calm down after a hard morning of work.
E.R.G. Theory
Concerning E.R.G theory (Existence, Relatedness, and Growth Needs) it is applicable in this case
(More, Vito, amp; Walsh, 2012). With existence needs the patrol officers are overworked with
paperwork and do not have enough time to fully investigate certain incidents. When the officers
become overworked, he or she would not want to come to work and would have the energy to do

Real Estate In Michigan
Michigan real estate is quite popular because Michigan is bounded by five Great Lakes. The Great
Lakes are Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Michigan , Lake Superior and Lake Saint Clair. The state got
its name from Lake Michigan. The state of Michigan actually consists of two peninsulas the Upper
Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula. The state has thousands of smaller lakes as well. Hence it is not
surprising that Michigan has the longest freshwater shoreline in the whole world and one is never
more than 85 miles from the water of the open Great Lakes and never more than 6 miles from a
natural water source. Water plays such an important role in the life of the people living and visiting
here that this state has more registered recreational boats than ... Show more content on

These days Detroit is in renaissance as a billion dollars has been spent in renovating the downtown
area and crime statistics that had given it a bad name is also under control. These factors have
attracted many real estate investors to invest in detroit during the recent real estate boom. Until
recently the real estate market has been quite active in the big cities like Detroit, Grand Rapids,
Warren, Flint, Sterling Heights, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Livonia, Dearborn and Clinton. The real estate
market has also been quite active in the smaller cities. However the Michigan real estate market has
witnessed a downturn recently and it is continuing. Many Michigan real estate agents who were
laughing their way to the bank until recently are finding themselves unable to sell real estate at much
lower prices. The glut in the market has affected real estate prices and agent commissions drastically.
In fact many new agents who had just started off have moved on to other jobs. The downturn in the
national real estate market has come as a blessing in disguise for buyers of Michigan real estate. The
real estate prices have fallen to affordable levels making it attractive for serious

Charlotte Perkins Gilman Gender Equality
Overall, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a visionary for gender equality, manage to bring awareness about
social inequalities by narrating and incorporating her personal experiences in The Yellow Wallpaper.
Gilman s work in The Yellow Wallpaper and other works depicted her afflictions and frustrations.
These literary devices provided women in the early 1900s the ability to speak out about women s role
in society and women s social condition. Women in the Victorian era considerably unsuitable due to a
variety of causes, such as postpartum, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, neurasthenia and other mental
conditions to which Gilman s deep stress developed into female hysteria. Metaphorically, Gilman
portrayed hysteria treatment in The Yellow Wallpaper to expose women s condition in the psychiatric

In the nineteenth century, women s place was in the home, as there was a conflict in gender s role
between males and females with man having power that is more patriarchal over women. In this era,
the female gender was the weakest gender in this generation, however, it had pioneers who inspired
other women to come out of the shadow. Strong females, such as Charlotte Perkins, Kate Chopin and
Emily Dickinson paved the way to freedom. Nowadays, women have laws protecting their rights, and
women are socially, politically and culturally recognized because of feminist movements. Therefore,
today in society, there are a variety of successful women either in the business world, in the

secondly its origin, and how it is awarded today. After that I will discuss the 2010 Nobel Prize for
Medicine, 1901 Nobel Prize for Physics, and the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Alfred Nobel
The Nobel Prize was named after a Swedish inventor and industrialist, Alfred Bernhard Nobel. Alfred
Nobel was born in Stockholm, Sweden on October 21, 1833. He was born into a wealthy family,
although due to the misfortune of losing building materials on sunken barges, Immanuel Nobel, Alfred

Although he started working on IVF in the 1950s it took him about 30 years to make it successful, and
about 60 years until he won the Nobel Prize. Edwards is a professor at the University of Cambridge

over 4 million births worldwide. Edwards discovered that an embryo can be fertilized in a Petri dish in
a laboratory ((4) http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/medicine/laureates/2010/adv.html). The steps of
IVF are started by prescribing a fertility medication to control the timing of the eggs release. They
monitor the ovaries using ultrasound to make sure the multiple eggs can be collected and that they are
developing the eggs properly and that his is called ovulation induction. To retrieve the eggs a minor
operation is required, sedation and anesthesia is used to prevent discomfort. A hollow needle is
inserted through the pelvic cavity into the ovary to collect the eggs. Now the sperm is needed for
completion of the procedure, this is collected by ejaculation. The process of insemination now begins;
a single sperm is injected into the egg for fertilization. The egg is monitored to make sure cell division
is achieved. It is now considered an embryo after it is fertilized. Three days after the egg is retrieved
from the ovary, and fertilization is achieved then it is inserted into the women s uterus. The two to four

For instance, I read about the three mixed media collages by David Maxim, studied the picture of one

splattered bulbs of fabric and rope hung off the canvas as large as my head, compared to the size of a

more educational experience than trying to glean knowledge from the web; seeing the physical objects

Satire and Fantasy in Kurt Vonnegut s Cat s Cradle Essay
Satire and Fantasy in Kurt Vonnegut s Cat s Cradle
For this essay, I decided to pick two terms that describe Cat s Cradle. I felt that satire and fantasy were
two terms that suited the novel quite well. The book qualifies as a satire because it makes a mockery
of things that were of concern in the sixties. For example, the Cuban missile crisis was a big issue in
the early sixties. Religion was taken much more seriously, and the family unit was more tightly
wound. In the novel, the threat comes not from a large warhead, but from a small crystal of Ice nine.
Religion is satired in Bokononism, which is a religion that is based on lies. The family unit is satired
by the Hoenikkers. The father is detached from reality, the sister is a ... Show more content on

Vonnegut has been quoted as saying that one of the reasons he writes is to poison minds with
humanity. . . to encourage them to make a better world. Cat s Cradle poisons minds with humanity
through the characters, who all very effectively demonstrate humanity. Even though the book itself
comes across as a surrealistic fantasy and the plot is sporadic and surprising, the characters seem very
real. Jonah is a narrator, but he is also an audience, as he travels through the book just as readers do.
Jonah was easy for me to relate to because he observed everything and nothing all at once.
Before he went to the island of San Lorenzo, Jonah was floating on a cloud, not really paying attention
to too much detail. However, as he met more people on the island things started to click for him, and
he was able to make sense out of some of the puzzle that would eventually become his book. Jonah
also makes some dumb mistakes, just like humans do. I don t think that his agreeing to become the
president of San Lorenzo was a smart move, but at the time all he could think about was marrying
Mona, and that in itself was enough motivation for him. Love is blind is a very popular saying, and it
rings true in most humans, and in this case, Jonah.
I thought that another very human character was Newt. He is the youngest sibling, and that s exactly
how he is treated.

Taking a Look at Sports Drinks
Sports drinks are drinks consumed by athletes and professional sports men and woman to rehydrate
and replace energy. Sports drinks contain varying levels of fluid, electrolytes and carbohydrate which
all play a role in rehydrating and replenishing the body after strenuous physical activity. There are
three types of sports drinks on the market; isotonic, hypotonic and hypertonic. Isotonic drinks provide
the athlete with fast fluid replacement which was lost by sweat, these drinks provide a boost of
carbohydrate, this type of drink is the most preferred by athletes as these contain glucose which is the
body s preferred source of energy. Hypotonic drinks are the same as isotonic but don t contain the
carbohydrates this is ideal for athletes who want fast hydration but don t need the energy boost.
Hypertonic sports drinks are said after exercise to top up muscle glycogen stores using carbohydrates.
The thing that all these different types of sports drinks have In common is that they are designed to
improve or maintain athletic performance, and prolong dehydration. The isotonic and hypotonic
drinks both contain electrolytes potassium and sodium; electrolytes are very important in the body
with many functions.
An electrolyte is another word for charged solution which has become charged by loosing or gaining
electrons. An electrolyte solution is one that commonly contains acids, bases or salts as their ionic

Psychedelic Rock In The 1960s
The birth of the psychedelic, or as it was sometimes known, acid rock genre was the result of an
attempt to sonically stimulate the distorted perceptions experienced while under the influence of
hallucinogenic drugs such as mescaline, psilocybin and LSD. The term psychedelic had begun to be
applied to a few bands already in the early 1960s, with the Grateful Dead making their record debut in
the spring of 1967. By 1966, garage bands were exposed to the first media coverage of LSD and, in
some cases, may have had a band member who actually used LSD. Soon their song lyrics moved from
passing references to more vivid descriptions of psychedelic experience (Johnson Stax, 2006, p.414).

that Cleófilas is a married woman who is leaving her husband, but to make her situation worse she is

was also concerned about being the center of gossip (50). It was not the norm for wives to leave their
husbands and domestic abuse is not a topic that is frowned upon in the work because men saw their
wives as disposables. Because Cleófilas was absorbed into the novelty of marriage that telenovelas,

Geoffry Hartman claims, We should not speak for them; rather, we have a duty to listen and to restore
a dialogue with people so marked by their experience that total integration into everyday life is a

a majority of the importance and emotional element was lacking on the television show. Hartman
believes it is crucial to share testimonies of survivors because they are human just like us and they
undergo some of the same conflicts we face such as: refraining from telling the worst parts of a story,
struggling to remember tragic events, and fear of not doing a story justice when we recount an event.

Edwards sermons. One concept plaguing them was that sinners will receive an inescapable dreadful

Neo Liberalism And Its Impact On Society
Introduction
There is a heated debate on this concept during the past 20 years and is somewhat named as
exhortation. Many authors have tried to describe this concept and related it with the spread of
capitalism and along with a proactive welfare state. The concept of neo liberalism basically revived
from liberalism. By this it can be suggested that liberalism was absent from politics in order to emerge
in a new form. Neo liberalism is not basically a distinct ideology and a not proper form of liberalism.
It shares only some of the historic views with liberalism which would be general. Another concept
which is introduced is economic liberalism. It is defined as that the states do not intervene in the
matters related to economy rather on the individuals. Economic liberalism and neoliberalism are
separate entities from liberalism. In oxford English dictionary describes economic liberalism as,
Favorable to constitutional changes and legal or administrative reforms tending in the direction of
freedom or democracy.
It also describes neo liberalism as, A modified and revived form of traditional liberalism one based on
the belief in free market capitalism and the rights of the individuals.
Liberalism
Liberalism was an important concept but it also lost some of its importance in order to emerge as a
new form. In the today s world hardly any one speaks for the freedom and democracy

The Effects Of Prenatal Hormones On The Developing Fetus
Why some people are attracted to members of their own sex whereas others are attracted to members
of the opposite sex is no known cause or reason. There is belief to it possible contributing from
genetics, hormonal and the environmental influences. One study stated that there is a 50 percent
chance that if one identical twin is homosexual or bisexual, the other twin is too. Similar findings lead
that some researchers estimate that sexual orientation is 30 to 70 percent genetic (Mustanski, Chivers,
Bailey, 2002). Another research suggests that sexual orientation is impacted by a gene or genes found
on the X chromosome. Though genetic tendencies for homosexuality may be passed from mothers to
their children (Rahman Wilson, 2003). During human evolution, homosexuality was developed to
minimize competition between males for a limited number of potential female mates (Schulling,
2004). A different possibility is that prenatal hormone levels influence the developing fetus (Levay,
2011). According to the prenatal hormonal theory of homosexuality, some male fetuses are exposed to
too little testosterone. Similarly, some female fetuses are exposed to too much testosterone. These
differences, in turn, can impact sexual orientation (Mustanski, Chivers, Bailey, 2002). Regardless,
homosexuality is not caused by hormone imbalances in adulthood; the hormone levels of most gay
men and lesbians are within the normal range (Banks Gartrell, 1995). Hormonal imbalances

Casino Game Roulette
Roulette
Roulette is a casino game where The House or also known as the Dealer, rolls marbles around a
spinning circle that is slanted known as a roulette wheel. The wheel consists of 38 slots. The marble
rolls and will then eventually land on one of 38 red or black slots, numbered from 0 to 36 with there
being two zeros. The idea of the game is to guess where it s going to land. The lower the chance of
you guessing right, the higher the possible payout can be. Everyone places their bets on where they
think the marble could possibly land. The dealer then closes the table to betting and the marble is
rolled.
There area couple possibilities for winning. You can guess the exact number the marble will land on,
you can split the bet to use select multiple possibilities of winning the round. which one of the three

The mass difference initial and final mass of the Formation of a gas was 0g. The conclusion that I

precipitate would be powdery and yellow because I thought that it would still be a liquid not powdery.

  • 3. Sex Drugs And Roll Essay Sex, drugs and rock and roll. These were the values of the young generation of the mid 1960 s. This generation was pushing the limits of sexual, social, and political inhibitions and behind the force of their hippie love was the engine of psychedelic rock and roll music. This genre of rock music is inspired by the counterculture scene of the 1950 s and 60 s and attempts to capture the mind altering feelings and emotions attached to psychedelic drugs. The first group to advertise themselves as psychedelic rock was the 13th Floor Elevators from Texas, at the end of 1965. However, the partnership of drugs and music goes back much further than that. The Beat Generation writers in the second half of the 1950 s, such as William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, used and wrote about drugs like cannabis and Benzidrine, which popularized and raised more awareness of drug use. The culture of drug use had long pervaded jazz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the first psychedelic single to reach the US top ten charts in July 1966 was Psychotic Reaction by Count Five who were a garage band in San Jose, California. And one of the most famous psychedelic era bands, The Doors, arose out of Los Angeles. Many other cities outside of California also contributed to the progression of psychedelic music, such as New York City, Detroit, Chicago, and even Austin, Texas. Psychedelic music was also becoming more prominent in the UK around 1966. Bands like Pink Floyd, Traffic, Soft Machine, Cream, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience (lead by an American, but initially produced and managed in Britain) were all incorporating more drug references and psychedelic elements. For example, The Rolling Stones incorporated many psychedelic hints into their hit singles 19th Nervous Breakdown and Paint It, Black , which made use of drones and ... • 4. Voting Age To 16 Research Paper The voting age has been a controversial topic for years now. In Indiana, voters have to be 18 before the next General, Municipal, or Special Education to register to vote. Other states allow you to be younger than 18 when you register as long as the voter is 18 when they are actually voting ( Voter Registration Age Requirements by State. ). However, whether or not the voting age should remain 18 or go down to 16 has been debated and still remains questionable. Although this is quite the controversial topic, many people side with the decision to lower the voting age to 16 and argue that there are several pros. One of these pros is that teenagers spend more than half of their time in a classroom setting. While emerged in this setting, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 16 year olds are not educated enough to make a decision on who should run our country. For example, at Central High School, a student cannot take a Government class until their senior year, unless the student is graduating early. Therefore, the student would not get a concept of politics unless they had been previously educated by an outside source. The average 16 year old is either a sophomore or junior. If the voting age was moved to 16, not only would the teenager be uneducated for their first election, but they would not be educated until their senior year. Along with the lack of a political education at school, the student has to endure outside opinions that could potentially swat the student s political opinion. These outside sources, such as parental views, TV ads, friends opinions, etc., make it hard for the inexperienced teenagers to have a mind of their own (Debono, Meaney). The average teenager grows up in a household with a family; a family that has views of their. These views have been instilled in their lives from birth. Once this has happened, the teenager s first response to anything is what they ve always know and grown up with. • 5. To what extent is humanitarian intervention an abandoned... To what extent is Humanitarian Intervention an abandoned project? Humanitarian Intervention is military intervention that is carried out in pursuit of humanitarian rather than strategic objectives. This term is controversial and therefore often debated, as it is an evaluative and subjective term. The common use of the term itself is the desire to come in help to other people, however according to some other opinions, it is the outcome of the intervention that defines it. Firstly, it is essential to define what is meant by the word abandoned in this context. As HI has been happening throughout history, abandoned would imply an on going lack or diminishing numbers of interventions. In humanitarianism, the most relevant key concept is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The efficiency of humanitarian intervention is normative because of people having different views on the output and the unlikeliness of every one being pleased by the new regime therefore it is very hard to affirm the real results of the intervention. In 2011, a group of countries intervened during the Libyan civil war, which lead to the abolition of Muammar Gadhafi s regime. The Operation Unified Protector by NATO was partly successful because they achieved to kill the dictator on 20th October, but partly ineffective because the standards of living in Libya have not increased and the state is facing a lack of government s ruling. This case study supports the statement that HI could be an abandoned project as it is not always favourable to everyone. Despite the fact that there is some failures, some beneficial interventions still occur. More cases for intervention emerge due to globalization, which implies that states have closer links to each other and therefore the responsibility to help becomes stronger. As countries generally develop through time, people are more educated and communication is more open, which is a factor that governments cannot control. Thus people are here and now more educated and therefore have the confidence to protest when they feel that their human rights are abused in their nation. Protesting causes conflicts, that may become violent and therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Benefits of Youth Sports Benefits of Youth Sports Sports do not build character. They reveal it, said John Wooden, legendary UCLA basketball coach. Playing sports not only provides physical activity, but also other positive benefits. This is especially true for children. A well structured and organized youth program will provide benefits and positive experiences for young athletes. While children are having fun participating in sports they are also building character, learning to work as a team, and playing fairly. Most people think the only benefits of sports are physical. Sports are more than just developing hand eye coordination and burning calories, youth sports provide many developmental benefits, physical benefits, and psychological benefits. In addition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the American Heart Association, one in every three children is overweight. Children who are overweight are more likely to be obese as adults, increasing their risk for diseases and conditions such as diabetes, heart attack, and high blood pressure (Ashe Edmunds 3). High blood pressure can lead to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure. But weight loss can help reduce high blood pressure, so sports that burn calories address this problem. Depending on the sport that a child participates in, most sports require physical activity. Research has shown that physical movement can affect the brain s physiology by increasing cerebral capillary growth, blood flow, oxygenation, growth of nerve cells in the hippocampus, neurotransmitter levels, development of nerve connections, density of neural network, and brain tissue volume (Donaldson 4). In other words, physical exercise causes short term relaxation, improved concentration, enhanced creativity and memory, improved mood, and enhanced problem solving abilities. Sport can help prevent drug and alcohol abuse by teaching young athletes to be aware of their body and how it responds to different stimuli and circumstances. Athletes learn to value what their bodies can do and to maintain those abilities (Jones 2). Being an athlete gives kids an acceptable reason to say no to drugs, alcohol, and other unhealthy behaviors when offered by their peers. The more children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Production Of Light Without Heat From A Chemical Reaction An Introduction to Chemiluminescence Chemiluminescence is the is the production of light without heat from a chemical reaction. In this reaction, energy is released as electromagnetic radiation in the visible light spectrum. It does not require the absorption of electromagnetic energy to excite molecules into a higher energy state. Instead, the energetics of the reaction itself releases energy as light. This means that there there is an intermediate molecule in an excited state which returns to a lower energy level, releasing its energy in the form of a photon of light. The reaction within a glow stick is a primary example of chemiluminescence. These reactions, which typically involve luminal, have been generally well studied and its applications range from use in forensics for detecting traces of blood, in the pharmaceutical industry for quality control and in clinical services. Chemiluminescence in Glow Sticks Since it s advent in 1965, glow sticks have been extensively used throughout society, serving a multitude of purposes. For most people, the word glow sticks brings to mind little children frantically waving them around on halloween, or perhaps even the idea of a jam packed neon lighted nightclub. For major halloween buffs, myself included, the idea of glow sticks brings people back to their childhoods, where glowsticks played a considerable role serving as a source of entertainment (and light) during halloween and new year parties. That being said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind. In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts. For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom. However, there are creation scientists who think ... The novel generally follows the history of a family of Chippewa Indians who live on and off a reservation. In a thoroughly humanist approach, Ms. Eldrige narrates each chapter in a different voice, and through extremely varied characters effectively shows the diversity of the Indians. This is an important aspect of the novel, as it demonstrates that there is no single stereotypical Indian . Our outlook on Native Americans as a society is one which attaches every individual American Indian with a cultural past which has absolutely nothing to do with the present day. Expecting an American Indian to retain cultural beliefs and societal practices reflective of his heritage is like expecting an urbanized American Swede to carry out a traditional 1500 s Swedish lifestyle in the 1990 s. It is this issue which Love Medicine adresses so skillfully. The Chippewa family in the story is very large. From the very beginning we see scenes of infidelity, drunken rampages, strained marriages, hate, and poverty. These scenes offer a look into the lifestyle of the modern Native American which is strikingly different from the comfortable images that we all harbor; images of a noble people living off the land, in harmony with nature. So much for the romantic view of the noble savage . This leaves the reader in the uncomfortable situation reconciling the two extremes images. The compromise is found in the stories of the book. • 17. Periods of Greek Art Greek art has changed throughout the years, yet some basic forms have remained. Time, technique, as well as historical events have helped shape the way art has evolved since 600 B.C. Three important periods in Greek art are the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods. We will discuss how art has changed throughout these periods, what influences led to change, as well as why it changed. We will also discuss what has remained constant through these periods. Since people s perceptions and taste of art are different, some would say that art has become better with time, whereas others would say the opposite, but nonetheless, it has evolved. The Archaic period dates from 800 B.C. to 480 B.C. The Greeks were inspired by monumental stone sculpture of Egypt and Mesopotamia, sculpting in stone began in Greece. However, although this was inspired by Egypt, there were significant differences between how they were sculpted. For instance, take the Greek sculpture Kouros (c 580 B.C. made of marble, standing at 6 4 tall) the standing male nude. While this resembled characteristics of Egypt sculptures such as pose and proportion, his form becomes more dynamic as the sculpture is nude. Kouros also appears to wear jewelry around his neck and the exquisite detail in the braids of his hair suggest he is groomed and dressed properly. For example, the Cuban missile crisis was a big issue in the early sixties. Religion was taken much more seriously, and the family unit was more tightly wound. In the novel, the threat comes not from a large warhead, but from a small crystal of Ice nine. Religion is satired in Bokononism, which is a religion that is based on lies. Jonah is a narrator, but he is also an audience, as he travels through the book just as readers do. Jonah was easy for me to relate to because he observed everything and nothing all at once. Hanna Bloch Konner had a riveting story, but a majority of the importance and emotional element was lacking on the television show. Hartman believes it is crucial to share testimonies of survivors because they are human just like us and they undergo some of the same conflicts we face such as: refraining from telling the worst parts of a story, struggling to remember tragic events, and fear of not doing a story justice when we recount an event. Shelley Weiner, a holocaust victim who has spoken at UNCG, was known for her uncanny detailed reclamation that made an audience feel as though they were there too. She was not a traditional interviewee or speaker because she never simply went chronologically through her experiences. On This is your Life Hanna s story was presented chronologically highlighting with a mixture of positive and negative. By only showing parts of her story the show almost glamorized the Holocaust by portraying as a story of tragedy and admiration with a happy ending. Many victims of the Holocaust may have survived with their lives, but lost family members, friends, belongings, and dignity. This should be viewable through a survivors ... • 32. William Bradford Dbq Puritan Codex I. William Bradford a. William Bradford felt strongly about the necessity of community and its effect on the prosperity of a person s spiritual and selfless wellbeing, despite how well their fiscal success was at the moment ( William Bradford ). Bradford refers to others still, as they conceived themselves straitened, or to want accommodation, break away under one pretense or another, thinking their own conceived necessity, and the example of others, a warrant sufficient for them (Bradford 130). While the Pilgrims found a thriving market for the products of their farming, this prosperity led to the disintegration of the intimate devout colony. Fear was instilled in Puritans as a result of the constant uncertainty of their wellbeing shown through Edwards sermons. One concept plaguing them was that sinners will receive an inescapable dreadful fate, and can feel its effects at any time. Because of this constant worry, Puritans tried to discover whether they were predestined to be in hell and whether they had sinned (Edwards 427). • 33. Neo Liberalism And Its Impact On Society Introduction There is a heated debate on this concept during the past 20 years and is somewhat named as exhortation. Many authors have tried to describe this concept and related it with the spread of capitalism and along with a proactive welfare state. The concept of neo liberalism basically revived from liberalism. By this it can be suggested that liberalism was absent from politics in order to emerge in a new form. Neo liberalism is not basically a distinct ideology and a not proper form of liberalism. It shares only some of the historic views with liberalism which would be general. Another concept which is introduced is economic liberalism. It is defined as that the states do not intervene in the matters related to economy rather on the individuals. Economic liberalism and neoliberalism are separate entities from liberalism. In oxford English dictionary describes economic liberalism as, Favorable to constitutional changes and legal or administrative reforms tending in the direction of freedom or democracy. It also describes neo liberalism as, A modified and revived form of traditional liberalism one based on the belief in free market capitalism and the rights of the individuals. Liberalism Liberalism was an important concept but it also lost some of its importance in order to emerge as a new form. In the today s world hardly any one speaks for the freedom and democracy ... The Effects Of Prenatal Hormones On The Developing Fetus Why some people are attracted to members of their own sex whereas others are attracted to members of the opposite sex is no known cause or reason. There is belief to it possible contributing from genetics, hormonal and the environmental influences. One study stated that there is a 50 percent chance that if one identical twin is homosexual or bisexual, the other twin is too. Similar findings lead that some researchers estimate that sexual orientation is 30 to 70 percent genetic (Mustanski, Chivers, Bailey, 2002). Another research suggests that sexual orientation is impacted by a gene or genes found on the X chromosome. Though genetic tendencies for homosexuality may be passed from mothers to their children (Rahman Wilson, 2003). During human evolution, homosexuality was developed to minimize competition between males for a limited number of potential female mates (Schulling, 2004). A different possibility is that prenatal hormone levels influence the developing fetus (Levay, 2011). According to the prenatal hormonal theory of homosexuality, some male fetuses are exposed to too little testosterone. Similarly, some female fetuses are exposed to too much testosterone. These differences, in turn, can impact sexual orientation (Mustanski, Chivers, Bailey, 2002). Regardless, homosexuality is not caused by hormone imbalances in adulthood; the hormone levels of most gay men and lesbians are within the normal range (Banks Gartrell, 1995). Hormonal imbalances ... The wheel consists of 38 slots. The marble rolls and will then eventually land on one of 38 red or black slots, numbered from 0 to 36 with there being two zeros. The idea of the game is to guess where it s going to land. The lower the chance of you guessing right, the higher the possible payout can be. Everyone places their bets on where they think the marble could possibly land. The dealer then closes the table to betting and the marble is rolled. There area couple possibilities for winning. You can guess the exact number the marble will land on, you can split the bet to use select multiple possibilities of winning the round. which one of the three thirds it will land on, the bottom or the top portion of the the wheel, a black, or red number, and last the number could be even or odd. Procedure: Acid Base Neutralization 1. Using 2 modified, beral pipettes fill pipet an about 1/5 full of white vinegar and pipette B about 1/5 full of 1.0 M NaOh (sodium hydroxide). 2. Place the 2 Pipets on the beam balance and read and record the total mass of the 2 pipets. 3. Carefully telescope the stem of pipet A into the stem of pipette B without spilling any liquid. 4. The mass difference initial and final mass of the Formation of a gas was 0g. The conclusion that I made was that the law of conservation of mass applies when trying to create a gas. 4. The burning of wood and the rusting of iron violates the law of conservation of mass because the result of both is a chemical and physical change. When the substances react their mass shrinks because they re changing into a new state. Conclusion: During the Law of Conservation of mass Lab I mixed various solutions and observed their chemical and physical change. The chemical change that occurs is the result of a new substance in all three experiments the Acid base Neutralization, Formation of a precipitate and the Formation of a gas. During the lad I learned that when you mix white vinegar with sodium hydroxide the result is a dark pink substance, when lead acetate and potassium iodide it forms a precipitate and water with alka seltzer results in the evaporation of the substance.
