2. Aircraft In World War One Essay
At the start of World War One, aircraft were very basic and crude. By the time World War One had
ended, aircraft had become far more sophisticated and had differentiated into fighters, bombers and
long range bombers. The development of aircraft was stimulated by the war s requirements, as was the
way aircraft were actually used. At the start of the war in August 1914, British airmen were part of the
British Army and commissioned officers had army ranks. By the end of the war in November 1918,
the Royal Flying Corps no longer existed and was absorbed into the newly created Royal Air Force.
This had its own command structure away from the army and introduced its own ranks.
The first recorded powered flight was in 1903 when the Wright brothers flew their aircraft. The first

If by chance German and Allied airmen came across one another, aerial combat was crude but deadly.
Pilots flew in cramped cockpits so the carrying of parachutes was impossible even if it had been
allowed. In fact, senior army commanders forbade the carrying of parachutes in case they diluted the
fighting spirits of pilots. Unable to carry a parachute and fearing death by fire, the British ace Mick
Mannock carried a pistol, which he claimed he would use on himself if his aircraft ever caught fire.
As World War One progressed, the military believed that aircraft had a far greater value than just
aerial photography though this aspect of their use became far more sophisticated as the interpretation
of aerial photographs improved. Two entirely different forms of aircraft developed the fighter and the
bomber. By November 1918, there was no comparison between the aircraft that finished the war and
the aircraft that had been at the start. In just four years the changes brought on by war were

3. Reasons Why College Athletes Should Be Paid
I believe that college athletes should be paid for many reasons. One reason why they should get paid is
because they put themselves on the line. They also put on an incredible show for the people so that
means more money. The third explanation why these athletes should be paid is because they would
help begin a sense of financial awareness. Another statement of why they should get paid is because
this is the main way that colleges get money. The last and final explanation on why these athletes
should get paid is because they work harder than regular students. All these reasons are why they
should get paid. First of all, many of the athletes put themselves on the line and they put an incredible
show for the people so that means more money. A college athlete may get a scholarship to go to a
college to be able to play sports, but what would happen if they get hurt or cuty from a team. They
might lose their dream of becoming something big in life or they might not accomplish a dream they
wanted to be successful in. These athlete s career can end any second and they do it for the people.
According to Marc Edelman he states that Not only do they miss class, but they are absent for
nationally televised games that make a lot of money and receive millions of viewers . These means
that these athletes are missing their school time to make an entertaining event for millions of viewers.
These athletes are the main cause of why these people want to got to a certain

4. The Portrait Of Women During Persian Painting
The Portrait of Women in Persian Painting In contrast to public life, where women are largely absent
or heavily veiled, representations and portraits of women in Persian painting provide considerable
evidence for analyzing the social and cultural implications of these imageries. The research on Persian
painting lifts the veil from the face of women and reveals the importance, richness, and variety of the
representations of women. This research paper will mainly focus on the variation of characters of
women in Persian painting from three perspectives: power, love, and society, spanning from the
thirteenth century to the twentieth century. What should be noted is that the wide spread of painted
imagery seemed to contradict the Islamic aversion to figural imagery; however, the prohibition is
mainly against sculpture and the making of idols (Nashat and Beck, page). Therefore, the depiction of
women in decorative manuscripts or Persian paintings remained and enabled the development of
Persian painting as a whole. Additionally, these paintings were mainly produced for use within the
context of private life and were ordered by ruling classes to decorate interior spaces, and luxury
manuscripts were only accessible to an educated, selected few. (reference) Women in Persian painting
were portrayed in an idealized fashion with little expression of emotion, and the range of activities and
social roles played by women in society is reflected in a limited sense. With the repetition of

5. The Portrayal Of The Theatre Of The Absurd Essay example
The Portrayal of the Theatre of the Absurd Throughout literature, much has been assumed and
gathered about the state of man and his purpose in life. Different poets, novelists, and playwrights
have employed the powerful tools of language to broadcast their respective statement to the literate
world. Many authors stand out for their overly romanticized or horribly pessimistic notations on life,
but only Samuel Beckett stands out for his portrayal of absence. As Democritus, a Greek philosopher,
noted, nothing is more real than nothing, a quote which became one of Beckett s favorites and an
inspiration for his masterful plays (Hughes 1). Beckett s works have astounded many through their
utter divergence from the typical basis of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beckett purposefully strips the setting of all elements of reality—namely time and definition. In
Waiting for Godot, his stage directions simply state, A country road. A tree. (1) Such simplicity
initially seems to muddy the clarity of the work, causing confusion as to the location and specifics of
the characters plight and conditions. However, as Daryl McDaniel constitutes, bareness of the set only
serves to create a complex fictional and highly theatrical world (McDaniel 1). As the play goes on, this
vague scenario also serves to make the work universal, due to the commonality of such elements in
nature. Similarly, although Endgame s plot plays out in a more confined and defined space, a room
with two high windows and two ashbins, the surroundings are bleak and undefined. Collectively,
Beckett s use of setting defies reality. Jean Jaques Mayoux elaborates on this point to clarify, a
realistic setting would spoil everything (Mayoux 42). Beckett s intentional bleaching of the set allows
for the perfect portrayal of the world as incomprehensible. The distortion of time serves to enhance the
incomprehensibility of Beckett s works. Not only does Beckett fail to specify a time period, the
element of time passage becomes unfathomable, implying the same about the world in which we live.

6. How Is Glass Used In The Glass Menagerie
Glass is an everyday object that serves a different purpose in each particular person s life. Its uses
range from decorations to something as common as a household mirror. Others use glass to see more
than just themselves; they use it to see the world. Additionally in the play, glass itself is an everyday
object with a deeper meaning; the glass animals themselves are symbols of the uniqueness of
individual people and Laura relies on them (like one would glasses) to cope with the world around her.
Spectacles take something nonsensical, and turn it into a clear picture; much like how spectacles in the
play, The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, clarifies the theme of realism. The first way a
spectacle is used to create realism is with dim lighting. The use of lighting makes scenes more
dramatic and can sometimes make it seem more real. Tom is the narrator as well as a character in the
play and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lighting is one special effect that creates a form of reality. In the play lighting is used to convey the
emotions of the characters so it can be easy to tell their mood. Just the same in real life, bright colors
can show happiness and even improve our moods. Music is another spectacle Tennessee Williams
uses. A lot of people can relate to music in their life and it can often be an escape from our troubles as
it was for Laura. Props, a final spectacle, provide symbolism as well as another way for the characters
to escape the reality the cannot face in their lives. Along with being a prop, glass is an object that
people use in different ways. Some cannot get through the day without looking at themselves in a
sheet of it, and others cannot see without it. Even insignificant objects that some people take for
granted, others rely on solely to be able to absorb the world around

Ste. Genevieve R II has all three forms of curriculum. The formal curriculum is composed of various
documents saved to Google Drive. Information used to achieve this formal curriculum includes the
following documents: the Missouri Learning Standards for the departments, the Missouri Learning

for various departments, curriculum checklists, information about backward design, pacing guides,
unit/lesson plan documents, and assessments. The informal curriculum is present at Ste. Genevieve R
II, but it is not in documented form. The values of the teachers creating the curriculum play a role in
its development and implementation. Each teacher brings their own style into the classroom; as a
result, the curriculum is followed, but it is followed in different ways as teachers place their individual
teaching style into their instruction. For example, when teaching skills about literary theme, one
teacher might include a specific piece of literature based on student interest. Another teacher might not
include the same piece of literature, but the concept of theme will still be an aspect of their lessons.
Another example might be in regards to teaching other kinds of lessons that are

10. Reflective Essay On Universal Education
Universal Education Countless countries benefit from a capitalistic system, but others, like Denmark,
the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, have a more socialistic giving society, offering free or low
cost schools, universal medical care, as well as supportive welfare to citizens. The world would gain
from a higher quality of free education. My beliefs of a fair universal education offered to every child,
no matter their place of origin, are influenced by experiencing the benefits of free education growing
up in Czechoslovakia, by living in the Netherlands, and the United States. As a child growing up
under the strict influence of forbidden profits of capitalism and receiving the education free of charge,
socialistic ideals shape my worldview. Being born in Czechoslovakia (the Czech Republic since 1993)
under a communist, socialist regime with underlying suppressed democracy during the Soviet Union
occupation, my worldview is based on a child s idealistic views of living and equality of people. Even
though the restricted media and a limited amount of imported goods made it easier for the communist
government to influence and dictate the mainstream population, I was shielded from the political
world, because I was a child and only gaining the benefits of excellent education. In 4th Grade, many
students, including me and my brother, were selected and received a written proposal to be part of
selective public talent schools, covering programs like STEM, languages,

13. Segkugawa Shogunate Essay
During the Early Modern Era, from 1450 to 1750 CE, the Tokugawa Shogunate came to power in
Japan after the civil war. Meanwhile, the global spread of Christianity affected Asia as European
missionaries came to spread their faith among Asian countries, like how the Spanish missionaries
spread Christianity in the Philippines, causing it to be major outpost of Christianity in Asia. In Japan,
the era of sengoku lead to the rise of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the consequences of the rise of the
Tokugawa Shogunate were the change in social position of ruling elites and the rise of the merchant
class, the rise of Dutch learning, and Japan s seclusion from European influences. The era of sengoku,
the civil war, lead to the creation of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Because of the war between the

revitalization of the labour movement. It is a move that saw the International Human Rights Day

authoritativeness to the labour discourse that would undermine trade unionists. [explain] While the

Adolescent Development The age of adolescents is generally a time of great change within a person s
life. Between the ages of twelve and eighteen, adolescents do not only experience rapid physical
change, but also begin to find their own unique personality by completing cognitive, behavioral, moral
and social stages. These stages were defined by different theorists such as Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget
and Lawrence Kohlberg. After completing these stages an adolescent should be able to develop into a
healthy and happy adult who can think abstractly and has their own set of morals and identity (Berk,

race it s a method to divide a group from another one. Race doesn t have any genetic basis. There is no

23. Orthopaedic Surgeon Research Paper
Personal Statement
A series of unexpected events led me to become an orthopaedic surgeon. In the fourth year of medical
school, I began to observe the orthopaedic surgeries. My supervisors were using their dexterity to
repair the fractures in the bone. After the operation and rehabilitation, patients would be gaining their
movement back. It was a process that took time and work, but the end result was outstanding. I would
care for patients who once came in pain, watching them leave with smiles on their faces. I wanted to
improve the quality of life of my patients as well.
Over my twenty five year career as an orthopaedic surgeon, I came across a myriad of patients. My
goal has always been to do my best to help each of my patients by educating them of the situation,
listening to their concerns, and using my knowledge and experience. There are always new methods
and experiences to learn and benefit from. When I was twenty seven, I realized that in order to be

Proffessional wrestling is not an easy sport nor a nice business. Most aspiring wrestlers hesitate before
breaking into the business. The chances of making it in the wrestling business are very slim, yet men
and women still strive to be wrestlers everyday. Proffessional wrestling is not liek being a laywer or a
doctor, it is typically looked down upon. Many outsiders see professional wrestlers as screw ups and
failures. Pursuing the dream of being a professional wrestler is a huge risk. Many wreslters start out
training at local schools then start working the independent scene. The independent scene is where
many athleates make names for themselves. It is a large number of small wrestling promotions
throughout the world. Most independent wrestler only get paid five dollars per match. By working the
independent scene, a wrestler is risking everything. These wrestlers work matches night after night
and travel from city to city with little to no money. It is common to see wrestlers stick around after
shows to pick up left over food from the consession stands. For most wrestlers this is normal. The five
dollars they make from that night is used as gas money. Many wrestlers sleep in their cars or at the
building they wrestled in that night. Someone has to love wrestling to want to be a wrestler because no
one would put themselves through that much poverty and starvation if it wasn t out of love and

Spiders
Spiders can be found in all environments throughout the entire world, except in the air and sea.
(Biology of Spiders, R.Foelix) These invertebrates of the order Aranea are one of the several groups of
the Class Arachnida, with about thirty four thousand species.
They range in body size from only a few millimeters in length to almost five inches.
All are carniverous and have four pair of walking legs, one pair of pedipalps, and one pair of
chelicerae. (Spiders, W.Shear) Each chelicerae consists of a base and a fang.
The fang folds up inside of a groove in the base until needed when attacking food, then moves out to

There are some spitting spiders that have only six, and there are some with only two or four eyes.
Some cave spiders have no eyes at all and rely only on vibration. There are great differences in the
ways which spiders capture prey. Some may stalk their prey, while others may lie in wait and ambush
it. Other spiders may weave various types of webs used to capture passing prey, and there are some
smaller commensal spiders that live in larger spiders webs and feed on the smaller insects neglected
by their host. (The Spider Book, J.Comstock)
All spiders spin silk, though not all of them weave webs. Silk is most commonly seen used in forming
webs, which may vary from a highly elaborated orb of spiraling threads to a single sticky string. Most
webs can be placed into one of four different types: the orb webs, the funnel webs, tangle webs, and
the sheet webs. The main purpose of a web is for catching prey. With orb weavers (Araneidae), the
spider will first form a supporting structure of frame threads to which it will then add on radial
threads.
(Biology of Spiders, R.Foelix) These tightly strung threads provide quick access to any where on the
web, and also carry any vibrations from the outer perimeter to the center.
(The Spider Book, J.Comstock) After the innitial threads are placed, the spider will build on a catching
spiral made of sticky silk. These spirals will be what capture and snare prey until the spider is able to

Strategic growth is a viable characteristic for any organization. Convergence Consulting Group
exemplifies this reasoning. Over the past decade, year over year growth has become the norm for
Convergence. Competing in the ever maturing market of business intelligence consulting,
Convergence must think strategically about how to maintain their growth.
Currently, Convergence is experiencing stagnant growth, which is attributable to the paradigm shift in
how organizations gather and analyze enterprise data. The days of building on premise data
warehouses are giving away to cloud based offerings. While still in the early stages, business
intelligence (BI) within the cloud is becoming ever so popular with organizations around the globe.
Based on this premise, Convergence must implement a strategic initiative to expand their
expertise/service into cloud based BI.

Fact #1
Gartner Inc., the world s leading information technology research and advisory company, releases a
comprehensive report on business intelligence each year. The report, Magic Quadrant for Business
Intelligence and Analytics Platforms, stated that in 2015, 40% of customer surveyed use cloud
business intelligence or plan to do so in the next twelve months (Gartner, 2015).
Based upon the increasing number of corporations seeking to implement cloud business intelligence
solutions over the coming years, Convergence could position itself as a subject matter expert within

largest economies. Although China and Russia mirrored each other in the nature of the transitions they

rising corruption and weighty foreign policy issues like the US arms race and the invasion of
Afghanistan. Contrasting economic preconditions of the movement toward market based models also
influenced patterns of change and development in Russia and China at the end of the 20th century. For
example, by the close of the 1980 s, Russia stood as a seasoned industrial power with a sizeable, well
educated, urban labor force. Militarily, it was on par with the United States and had developed a
strong presence in science and technology development. Contrastingly, when China began its own

in agriculture. 80% of the nation s population (as compared with 15% for Russia) consisted of
uneducated agrarian peasantry, and the country had little stake in industry or scientific innovation. In
the wake of the soviet state s collapse, Russia faced a dropping population and a deficit of available
labor, while China s population was considered very large relative to its productivity. Though these
demographic factors allowed for cheaper, more readily available labor in China, Russia vastly

Tensions between science and religion have recurred throughout history. The issues of what to do with
the remains of our ancestors are viewed differently by people. Some people believe that the burial site
should be left untouched. Among this group of people fall the Native Americans. Archaeologists, on
the other hand, think we should uncover the burial site to be able to discover more about the history of
the land from which the grave lies. The Native American Grave Protection and Repatriation Act was
signed into law on November 1990 by President George Bush. This legislation is the result of decades
of effort by American Indians to protect the burial sites of their ancestors against grave desecration
and to recover the remains of ancestors and sacred cultural objects in the possession or under the
control of federal agencies and museums. In November 1993, museums holding certain Native
American artifacts were required to prepare written summaries of their collections for distribution to
culturally affiliated tribes. In November 1995, museums were required to prepare detailed inventories
of their Native American collection. This act is historically significant because it represents a
fundamental change in social attitudes toward Native people by museum curators, the scientific
community, and Congress. Congress attempted to strike a balance between the interest in scientific

country has faced is the issue of Racial inequality and racial tensions primarily between African
Americans and Caucasians. Most recently these issues have had impacts on everybody, and some may
even argue have caused a bit of a social divide in America. This divide was manifested very clearly in
the 2016 presidential election and since, society has created these ideas and perceptions that we have
seen many references to the Ku Klux Klan, and even Nazi Germany. These ideas that have been
expressed are all very common themes that the world has seen specifically when racial tensions are
present. 50 years ago, the Civil Rights Movement was very much alive through parts of the deep
south. The advances that the Civil Rights Movement brought about were indeed incredible however in
modern society a new group has taken over where the civil rights movement left off. If these issues

Super Soldier Experiments Going through life, at times, one would wonder how vast the greed of
human beings is. Is it as dangerous as we think? Wanting something? Desiring something so much
that you would risk everything you own and love? Is it as sinful as we are taught as kids to believe?
All we have to do is take those desires and create something good out of it. However, when we desire
something that affects the rights of other living things, it is extremely bad and these questions will all
be answered with a solid Yes. . I will be sharing with you the opinion of many others whom are

Super Soldier experimentation is a version of human experiments on military soldiers based on the
idea of making them the perfect killing machines. The government in charge of a certain military base

being rid of those pesky human emotions would benefit them greatly due to the fact that those sorts of
emotions may negatively impact the army s progress in defeating their enemies. These kinds of
