The Plight Of Intensive Agriculture

The Plight of Intensive Agriculture
Agriculture has faced some of the most significant challenges in recent years. Major challenges
include: the rapid growth of the human population, and the increased demand for agricultural land and
environmental costs of non renewable resources. The current industrial agriculture system consumes
water, and topsoil at unsustainable rates. It contributes to numerous forms of environmental
degradation, including water pollution, soil depletion, and diminishing biodiversity. The following
environmental problems are associated with prevailing production methods: Synthetic chemical
pesticides and fertilizers are polluting soil, water, and air. Soil is ... Show more content on

In 1990, It is estimated that since World War II, poor farming practices had damaged about 550
million hectares an area equivalent to 38% of all farmland in use today (Oldman et al.28) . Industrial
agriculture endangers soil health because it depends on heavy machinery that compacts the soil,
destroying soil structure and killing beneficial organisms in the soil food web. Soil conservation is a
key integral part in sustainability since it takes many years for soil to naturally form. Despite the
simplicity of industrial monoculture farming, the practice itself does not provide any measures to
conserve topsoil. If farmers do not take part in protecting soil fertility, more farmable lands will be
lost, resulting in food production decline.
Agriculture affects water resources in two ways: irrigating fields using surface waters or aquifers
diverts water from other potential uses; and when farming practices pollute surface waters and
aquifers, they reduce the amount of water that is suitable for other uses. The US Environmental
Protection Agency has blamed current farming practices for 70% of the pollution in the nation s rivers
and streams. The agency reports that runoff of chemicals, silt, and animal waste from US farmland has
polluted more than 173,000 miles of waterways. Agriculture accounts for about two thirds of all water
use worldwide, far exceeding industrial and municipal use (Spooler 310). In many parts of the world,
irrigation is depleting

The Harsh Stereotypes Of Cafeteria Food And Negative...
The harsh stereotypes of cafeteria food and negative connotations of assumedly horrible lunch ladies
are as old and traditional as the American school system itself. Interestingly, the concept of the school
lunch is one that has been revolutionized over and over to fit the needs of American youth. The
overarching program that oversees and occasionally refurbishes the American schooltime meal is the
National School Lunch Program, put on through the United States Department of Agriculture. In 2012
this program provided over 30 million children meals that were nutritionally sensible as well as
fiscally responsible (United States Department of Agriculture, 2013), frequently offering these meals
at reduced or no cost to children otherwise unable to afford them. In addition to keeping costs low to
accommodate low income students, the National School Lunch program has found that it must also
balance an increase in highly nutritious foods to battle childhood obesity, with the task of appeasing
the increasingly picky eaters that comprise American youth. It is within the realm of trying to strike
this precarious and delicate balance that the National School Lunch Program has created the problem
of children refusing the nutrients they are being provided, therefore wasting insurmountable amounts
of food and learning incredibly unhealthy nutritional habits along the way.
The National School Lunch Program was created to ensure that all children, regardless of age, race,

Elementary Classroom Observation
This paper will look at boys behaviour in an elementary school classroom from an education
professional standpoint. Specifically, how to modify the aggressive behaviour of boys who speak out
of turn in class. It will look at the effect that behaviour specific praise has on aggressive behaviour.
Multiple forms of differential reinforcement will also be examined in regards to how to transform a
boy who acts out for attention into a boy who understands his behaviour is not necessary. Differences
between girls and boys in an elementary school classroom will also be considered. Through this
process teacher, child and the rest of the class will benefit. This paper will begin with ideas for general
classroom management and then narrow down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main behaviour issue that she would like Austin to work on is not speaking out in class. She
would like him to raise his hand before he speaks. In Ms. Walker s class, the students are encouraged
to raise their hand anytime they have something to say, a question to ask, or a request for the teacher.
Since the beginning of the school year, Austin has repeatedly disobeyed this rule. It is posted in the
front of the classroom, and Ms. Walker consistently reminds Austin of this, but he forgets. He is not a
typical bad student. He does not do this simply for the fun of it he actually forgets to raise his hand.
He has a thought and immediately wants to act on that thought. He comes from a broken home: his
father left the family when Austin was seven. His mother struggles while working two jobs. Austin
goes to the before and after school program the school offers. His mother is loving towards all four of
her children, but Austin does occasionally get neglected. He has less than ideal self esteem and is
difficult to motivate. When instructed on a one to one basis, Austin is able to complete tasks with
moderate difficulty. Ms. Walker does not have an Educational Assistant in her class, but she does
make an effort to instruct Austin individually there are other needs in her class that take priority over
this one. Behaviour specific praise for Austin

Comparing Mythology And Religion
Mythology and religion are different yet they have similar features. Mythology is most often
considered one part of a religion. Religion is a broader encompass of rituals, morals and experiences.
If a mythology is pulled away from the religion that it originated with, a myth loses its sacred
importance and starts to be looked on more as a legend or tale.
Religion is a belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine and the moral codes, practices
values and institutions associated with such belief. (Religion) People who have religious beliefs or
practices usually believe in a higher being, practice worship, and have practices of ethics and politics.
The word myth comes from the Greek word mythos, which means [word,] [speech,] [tale,] or [story,]
and that is essentially what a myth is: a story. (Morford, Lenardon, and Sham, 3). Like religious
stories, myths are often entertaining, morally instructive and inspirational. ... Show more content on

Some religious organizations believe that some or all of their stories are also historically accurate.
They believe that they were revealed to their ancestors or elders divinely. They feel that calling their

Especially within Christianity, objection to the word [myth] goes back to a historical basis. By the
time of Christ, the Greco Roman world had started to use the term [myth] (Greek mythos) to mean
[fable, fiction, lie]; as a result, the early Christian theologians used [myth] in this sense. ( Eliade, 162)

Rhetorical Analysis Of Pope Francis
I will be analyzing the speech of Pope Francis to a Joint Session of Congress from September of 2015
in Washington, D.C. for my final rhetorical analysis. This speech is important because it addresses
societal issues in the United States and the whole world such as poverty, religion, war, the
environment, immigration, and gun laws. The pope not only addresses the issues, but also
acknowledges many of the marvelous features of America. In this paper, I will provide a summary of
research I found on the context of the speech, the speaker, the audience, and the effects the speech had
on society. Pope Francis is the present day spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, also known as the
bishop of Rome or pontiff. He is the very first pope from Latin American, Argentina specifically, and
is now known as the first pope ever that has addressed Congress. According to the guardian.com, Pope
Francis, electrified Congress with a call for action on climate change, immigration, poverty and capital
punishment, laying down a challenge for the United States to transcend division and rediscover its
ideals (Carroll 1). He addressed these issues and drew a great interest from the audience for fifty one
minutes in the chamber of the House of Representatives. The audience of the speech consisted of a
large number of lawmakers, aides, and invited guests. The New York Times, referenced some of the
people that attended: Sitting behind Francis were Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and House
Speaker John A. Boehner, both Catholics. Flanking the aisle at the front were Secretary of State John
Kerry and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., and not far behind them was Nancy Pelosi, the House
Democratic leader, all Catholics (Baker, Yardley 17). Others in the audience included three other
Supreme Court associate justices, Justice Anthony Kennedy, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Justice
Sonia Sotomayor, other cabinet members, senators, House members, presidential candidates, a few
four star generals, priests, nuns, and bishops. According to the New York Times, the lawmakers
interrupted Pope Francis about thirty times applauding him, causing the speech to run fifty one
minutes when originally scheduled for thirty. *****add

This performance meanders through a selection of secular songs dating from the Middle Ages,
Renaissance and Baroque periods. Music is performed in chronological order, with samplings from
the beginning, middle and end of each period. Changes in vocal arrangements, instruments, mood and
style all shift as the audience is led through centuries of musical innovation and revolution. Music
Through the Ages begins with A l entrada del temps clar (When the Clear Days Come), an anonymous
secular song written by early troubadours in the Middle Ages. Troubadours were poet musicians living

Lascia ch io pianga is an Italian soprano aria by Handel. The melody was first heard in Handel s 1705
opera Almira. Handel used the music repeatedly, again in a 1707 oratorio and four years later in the
opera Rinaldo, the first Italian opera written for the English stage. The story of Rinaldo takes place in
Jerusalem at the end of the eleventh century, at the time of the first Crusades. The lead character
Rinaldo is sitting with his lover, Almirena, when suddenly she is abducted. In the next act, Almirena is
in her captor s custody, taken away from her love and with no chance to escape. Praying for mercy,
Almirena sings Lascia ch io pianga, a song filled with sadness, fear and longing for Rinaldo. Such
emotion can be heard through long vibratos and the contrast of the high pitched vocals to the sporadic

Intolerance During The Nazi Regime
Intolerance
The definition of intolerance is the unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from
one s own . There have been many times in history when people have been unwilling to accept things
that are different than what they belief. There has been the Nazi regime, whites segregating blacks,
people who disagree with people who are homesexual, and Donald Trump.
One example of intolerance is during the Nazi regime. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he tried to
imprison and kill all Jews and nobody for the most part tried to stop him. Hitler didn t stop there
though, he still thought that everyone who didn t have blonde hair and blue eyes were not good
enough, because they were not what he thought to be the perfect race. There was the holocaust. There
were about 42, 500 facilities in Germany that were used for slave labor, mass murder, and other
human right abuses. It is to be predicted that about 200,000 Jews died during the Holocaust. Jews
were hunted down and were forced to go into hiding. If they were caught, they would be sent to
concentration camps where many died. Six million Jews died, including 1.5 million children during
the Nazi regime. Five million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication Of The Rights Of Women
After considering the historic page, and viewing the living world with anxious solicitude, the most
melancholy emotions of sorrowful indignation have depressed my spirits, and I have sighed when
obliged to confess that either nature has made a great difference between man and man, or that the
civilization which has hitherto taken place in the world has been very partial (Black 102). The opening
sentence of A Vindication of the Rights of Women by Mary Wollstonecraft powerfully declares her
stance of the disregard given the women of her time. Vindication is defined as proof that someone or
something is right, reasonable, or justified (dictionary.com). Wollstonecraft s use of this word in her
title shows she is defending the basic human right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By speaking to the males of her time she s giving women secreted access to her thoughts. It s a trickle
down theory put to use. The men who read Wollstonecraft s work would have discussed this at home
within earshot of their wives and daughters. Then, these women being educated they would have
found a way to read the work and then discuss it on their own where servants would be able to
overhear. These servants would then talk about it at home. It s brilliant the way she insidiously worked
her way into as many homes as she could.
There is no theory which accounts for the oppression of women in its endless variety and monotonous
similarity, cross culturally and throughout history with anything like the explanatory power of the
Marxist theory of class oppression (Rivkin/Ryan 771). Gossip, the idle talk of the affairs of others,
may be one of the few human habits to seep through the class distinction of the late 1700s in Britain.
As stated earlier, women of Wollstonecraft s time were defined by whom they married. Mary s opinion

Child Development Is The Heart Of The Head Start Program
According to the article from Head Start About Us the Head Start program began in the summer of
1965 as part of President Lyndon Johnson s War on Poverty. Early Head Start was added in 1994.
Head Start has served more than 30 million children since 1965, growing from an eight week
demonstration project to include full day/full year services and many program options. Head Start and
Early Head Start programs support the mental, social, and emotional development of children from
birth to age 5. In addition to education services, programs provide children and their families with
health, nutrition, social, and other services. Head Start services are responsive to each child and family

Child development is the heart of the Head Start program. Each child receives a developmental and
behavioral screening, and ongoing assessment. Bilingual language stimulation is a priority. The music

mission of maximizing children s potential. Supporting the parents and making sure they have an
active role in their child s development is also important. Head start shows this through The Getting

Hospital And Ambulatory Care Case Study
Hospitals and Ambulatory Care
1) The traditional management style of hospitals have been hierarchical and internally focused. What
are the three important challenges that hospitals face to accommodate new payers and consumer
expectations?
These hospitals are using the manual approach of relating with consumers as will as payers.
Remittance to providers and disburse paper checks is prone to errors, costly and time consuming. It is
required of payers to adopt the standardized electronic healthcare transactions according to the
regulatory mandates. Electronic funds transfer (RFT) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) are the
recommended digital healthcare transactions that would reconcile the crisis at hand and reduce the
administrative costs.
While the digital migration is implemented in the healthcare system, payers, health providers and
consumers are faced with the challenge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What were some problems with the peer review process in judging the quality of hospital medical
care?
Conflict of interests is a common problem associated with peer review process, which is contributed
to by the internal politics. Economic competition and partner relationships also contribute to conflicts
of interests because of the big focus on facts while ignoring the personal feelings and biases.
Criticizing colleagues and eventually censuring the friends is a big challenge among doctors. This is
because the process involves a lot of work which goes uncompensated. In addition, the process
consumes time meant for attending to patients, leading to worse and substandard care. 3) Almost two

Vulnerability And Risk Of Poor Health
INTRODUCTION Everyone is potentially vulnerable at some point over the extent of one s lifetime.
More specifically, everyone is potentially at risk of poor physical, psychological, or social health. The
word vulnerable is defined by the Merrian Webster s Dictionary as capable of being physically
wounded or open to attack or damage . Commonly, the word vulnerability indicates one s
susceptibility to health problems, harm or neglect. Some however, maybe more or less susceptible or
at risk of poor health at different times in their lives, while certain individuals and communities are
more likely to be at risk than others at any given point in time (Aday, 1994). Thus, vulnerable
populations may be defined as social groups with an increased susceptibility to adverse health
outcomes (Flaskerud Winslow, 1998). A fundamental component to the definition of vulnerability is
the concept of risk, or the relative probability that an individual may become ill within a given period
of time (Aday, 1994). Community and individual characteristics are risk factors predictive of the
incidence of vulnerability. Risk factors, for example smoking or lead exposure, are attributes that are
related to increases in the probability of occurrence of health related outcomes (Aday, 1998). Evidence
of differences in vulnerability or increased risk, which lead to negative health outcomes include:
premature mortality, comparative morbidity, decreased functional and mental status, decreased ability

Analysis Of Man With A Movie Camera
Man with a Movie Camera is a portrayal of the life of the cameraman. Through the eye of the camera,
it also shows the rapid industrialization of Soviet Russia through a glorifying perspective. The film fits
into the socialist realism movement and seeks to paint a positive image of the Soviet Union before the
viewers with realistic images. Knowing Vertov s background as a newsreel producer for the state, it is
rather predictable that the film would feature the positive impacts of the communist revolution on
Soviet life. By making this film, Vertov resolves his concern that there were films about various
industries and the making of all kinds of other goods, and there had not yet been one about cinema
(Hicks 178). Through the heroic depictions of the life of a cameraman, the film industry is exalted as
one of the mechanical industries that drive the advancement of the Soviet Union. Although Vertov
stayed loyal to his artistic principle of depicting the reality at a time when blatantly manipulative
narratives were popular, this film is nonetheless a propaganda that sought to unite the lower class into
a common purpose, contributing their strengths and vitality for the communist industrial revolution.
One of the motifs in the film is the shots of the cameraman at work, often interwoven with the visuals
seen by the eye of the camera. Vertov composes this film with his method called kino eye that serves
to demystify film and strip away the illusion of its unmediated

Claude Monet Essay
Art has been part of our society since humanity existed. For countless years people been creating,
observing, criticizing and appreciating art. Claude Monet s piece titled Sunrise (Marine) illustrates the
daylight in the industrial port of Le Havre of the north coast, France. This piece was made in March or
April of 1873. The piece s present location is the J. Paul Getty Museum, west pavilion, gallery w204.
The medium is oil on canvas and is next to another piece made by Monet called The Portal of Rouen
Cathedral in the morning light. Claude Monet was part of the impressionist movement that changes

Colors are around us and can describe different meanings. When colors are part of an image, painting
or sculpture, however, why do certain colors use and others are not. Monet chose certain colors to
portray different feelings, mood and makes one think. In Patricia Stokes s article Variability,
Constraints, and Creativity explained during her investigation, she decides to investigate Monet s
creativity and separate them into three phases. In phase one, it involved value and wrote: The wheel,
which broke up the light into the four primary hues and their intermediaries, prompted Monet s initial
and initially ill defined goal constraint. In his earlier painting called Mouth of the Seine at Honfleur
(1865), he used earth colors, raw umber, burnt sienna, and blacks. After he stopped using browns and
earth color and later black as well. For Sunrise (1873), he used the colors yellow, orange, blue, green
and brown. What I found interesting is that he muted the colors so the painting looks dull. Even so
orange pops with the muted blue because they are complementary colors that perceive soothing or
balance in the painting.
Paintings that have textures that can be smooth and flat or have tooth and be lumpy which can depend
on the type of paint or how it is applied the surface of a canvas. In many of Monet s Impressionism

Why babyhood rather than childhood?
The case that I want to make is that babyhood is much more important to our lives than many people

obesity, depression and poor school performance, has already been shaped by children s experiences
in babyhood. For those of you who have not studied the scientific literature, this might seem a bit ...

Martin Luther s Jr And The Christian Believer Free
Martin Luther s three major treaties were attempts to persuade Pope Leo X and Roman Catholics that
the theology of the Reformation was not a novelty in the faith, but a pure confession of the Word of
God and consistent with the truth of the Holy Scriptures Each one focused on various practices and
beliefs of the Catholic Church that Martin Luther deemed were wrong. One of Martin Luther s three
major treatises, On A Freedom of a Christian, reprimands the widely held Christian belief that good
works justified our salvation. Martin Luther had hoped that his writings would educate and remind the
people and religious officials that salvation stems from our faith. Faith should not be categorized as a
virtue but rather a trust in God in which one builds when they encounter the trials and temptations in
life. Therefore, it is the Gospel, the word of God, that sets the Christian believer free. However, this
new insight had led people to believe that both faith and good works is necessary for justification.
Martin Luther wanted to separate the truth from the false teachings. Therefore, Martin Luther explains
that although the Christian is freed good works are still compulsory because it s function is to help
Christians discipline themselves in order to better serve the needs of their neighbor as long as they
have the faith first in order for their works to be considered good and pleasing to God.
The purpose of good works is not for the sake of justification but rather to

creativity as Trance, a futuristic blend of technology and House and Techno, became a chart topping,
globe girdling sensation ( Prendergast pg 367). Another great more specific example of this is Paul
Oakenfold as written in Last night a DJ saved my life, When Paul Oakenfold plays records in a club,
every person on the dance floor will be facing him. Just like they d face a rock band on a stage. There

energetic fan, and when he does, there ll be a sea of hands aloft, a breakout of waving and grinning, an
ocean of smiling dancers mirroring his every gesture. For he is a superstar ( Brewster pg 384). Along

Pinkston, Anna Dr. Jeff Newberry ENGL 1101H August 26, 2017 As my ninth grade English teacher,
Mrs. Newton would say, without a good hook to start your essay, no one will ever read it. As I was
taught, a hook is a crucial part in your essay because it will help grab the audience s attention so that
they will continue to be invested throughout the paper. For example, the hook could be a question or a
quote about the overall topic of your essay. In my junior year, we had to do a controversial essay and I
used a quote from a famous tattoo artist as my hook because I did my essay over tattoos and piercings.
After the hook, the introduction begins to take form and show the audience what your essay is about.
The introduction is the first thing in your essay that will tell the audience what the essay is about. The
introduction paragraph should be as interesting as the initial hook and keep the audience invested in
the paper. It will establish the basis of the essay and should contain the thesis statement. The thesis
statement is the point in your essay where you will state the topics that the essay will contain. In high
school, we were taught that the thesis should contain the three points that you will elaborate upon in
your three body paragraphs: the weakest point, the middle point, and the strongest point. The first
body paragraph should be the weakest or simplest way to get the overall point of the essay across to
the readers. This will be the foundation of all three points,

American Girl Doll Research Paper
In life, human beings are required to learn and retain a lot of various information. Many people attend
school at four or five years old, and this is when the learning begins. English, History, Math, and
Science. These are the four core subjects in most educational systems. Each subject comes with
information that people must retain and use throughout their lives. However, sometimes these subjects
can be a bit dull, especially for children. The original American Girl Dolls assist with making history
fun and exciting, thanks to Pleasant Rowland. Some adults may remember American Girl Dolls. They

Pleasant Rowland. Rowland and her team created each doll with a historical time period in mind, and
each American Girl Doll came with its own meet me type book. These dolls were educational. First,
Rowland created Kaya (1764). Kaya is from the Nimiipuu tribe and she teaches young girls and boys

Regulatory Issues Of The Private Sector
Regulatory Issues
Some breaches goes way beyond the when and how bad the breach is and what agencies will get
involved. The fear is not only about their own customers, clients and shareholders but from agencies
like the SEC, FTC, FCC, CFPB and others alike. All have different agendas, regulations and standards
on how they approach a cyber breach situation. The major fear for the private sector is regulatory
laws. What if they are not following federal regulatory requirements? This is a risk that some
companies are not willing to take to share information about a threat they may have found. The
agencies feared the most is the FTC and the SEC.

The FTC is not the only agency that has issued some kind of guidelines for organizations to follow
when it involves data security. The latest data breaches involving retail giants like Target and Neman
Marcus, the Payment Card Industry Council issued security guidelines that are stricter and are meant
for any retailers, banks or credit card companies that process credit card transactions. Noncompliance
of the security guidelines could result in fines. Many agencies have increased their oversight for
security measures that companies are expected to follow and maintain. In 2011 the Security and
Exchange Commission (SEC) released guidance for public traded companies regarding their
obligation to release and disclose incidents of cyberattacks. (Clarke Olcott)
Securing cyberspace is one of the most important and urgent challenges of our time. In light of the

Choosing between Family and Individuality in Kate Chopin s The Awakening
Kate Chopin s The Awakening focuses on a woman s struggle to become an individual while still
being a mother and wife. In the process of this journey, the female heroine discovers that establishing
her own identity means losing a mother s identity. Edna looks to be the brave soul, a soul that dares
and defies (Chopin 61). Edna s society looked down upon females who seek anything other than
attending to their children and husband s needs. Therefore, she is seen as an outcast and must turn
inward as well as outward towards nature for satisfaction and approval.
At the beginning of The Awakening, Mr. Pontellier poses the question, If it ... Show more content on

Pontellier realizes that life with Mr. Pontellier resembles a masquerade (Chopin 19) more than a
marriage. The sea reflects her feelings, becoming almost one with her consciousness. It strives to suit
her emotions and it often lulls and calms her. Mrs. Pontellier realizes that she is disillusioned by her
family life while sitting with Madame Ratignolle, stating that she is fond of her children in an uneven,
impulsive way (Chopin 19) and that their absence was a sort of relief (Chopin 19). While this
realization occurs, she looks towards the sea which makes her intoxicated with the sound of her own
voice (Chopin 19). Mrs. Pontellier is intrigued by hearing her own voice because she, as both a
female, a mother and a wife, has had to listen and be a subordinate person instead of speaking her own
ideas. As if it recognized Edna s need to be freed from the grasps of her children and of her husband,
the ocean puts a spell on her. It influences her to strive for freedom from the oppression of family life.
Once the ocean makes her discover the importance of her own voice, she stops submitting herself to
her husband s will and lets her own will be just as important as his: She perceived that her will had
blazed up, stubborn, and resistant (Chopin 31). This new found sense of self helps wake her out of a
dream a grotesque, impossible dream better known as motherhood (Edwards 283).

Research Paper On Cibum Recalibration
Why do I still feel this way? I really need to get to my supervisors. Something is definitely wrong with

I will tell you why Cibum is such the miracle food that it is and nothing of olden food could compare
to the beauty and perfection that is Cibum, created by our Smiling God. See, Cibum is something that
humans never dare eat before. Cibum is human flesh. I froze.
Again, I looked at the row upon row of horrors before. I started to scream. But, no sound came out.
Fanatical sobs began to rack my body. Doubling over, I began to pound my head against the floor.
Embracing the future with an untouchable passion, I let go of my sanity.
Why... why would you tell me such a thing! I shouted. You are lying, you have to be! There is no way
such a horrible thing is true!
Call it an experiment. I want to see how a non sedated mind reacts to trauma from a figure they

sedatives in your Cibum to keep you content, and then gave you shocking information. I perceive that

National Literacy Crusade Coordinator, And Valerie Miller...
Fernando Cardenal, serving as the National Literacy Crusade Coordinator, and Valerie Miller, a CNA
advisor, outlined that the literacy campaign would not just eradicate illiteracy, but create an identity of
a new man [and a] new woman for Nicaraguans. Through the CNA, the Sandinistas hoped to
introduce young Nicaraguans to the difficulties and hardship endured by Nicaragua s poor rural
population. For many of the brigadistas who volunteered, the 1980 literacy campaign served as their
first experience with the other side of Nicaragua s population, a side that remained unseen and not
thought of by many under the Somoza regime. The life that brigadistas lived in during the CNA
significantly altered their perspectives on society, both politically and culturally. The Sandinistas did
in fact succeed at redefining the concept of the Nicaraguan experience for its youth.
The Nicaraguan volunteers in the National Literacy Crusade developed a sense of new nationalism for
Nicaragua defined by their experiences with the illiterate Nicaraguan population. The accounts of this
change is most evident from the experiences of brigadistas working in the Nicaragua s poor rural
regions. Brigadistas, the majority of whom came from urban middle class backgrounds, gained an
appreciation for the rural farmers and laborers. The testaments and personal accounts of brigadistas
provide insight on the impact of their time with the long disenfranchised citizens of Nicaragua.

I looked back to the hole. What if we were digging our own grave? (128). Lina, the main character of
the book, says when forced to dig a hole with three other women. This is just one example of what
Lina, her family, and millions of others have to endure while at labor camps. Ruta Sepetys novel,
Between Shades of Gray shares the story of one family who was arrested and brought to a labor camp.
Lina and Jonas were arrested, along with their mother by the Narodnyi Komissariat Vnutrennikh Del

for little food and water. Throughout the story, Ruta Sepetys shows just how much a person can

and intelligent young lady.
Lina has lots of opinions however she is naive because she does not realize that she should not draw or

Justice Antonin Scalia Case Analysis
I have chosen to write my research paper on the late Justice Antonin Scalia. I wanted to know more
about his legal philosophy of originalism and the legacy he left. I wanted to read on some of his
landmark case rulings. I focused on one to include in my research paper. My thesis statement is as
follows:
Justice Antonin Scalia made no apologies for his legal philosophy of originalism, despite opposition
from other justices and the public. Scalia believed that the United States Constitution should strictly
be interpreted in terms of what the founding fathers had meant for it when the Constitution was
written. Scalia s critics contended that the Constitution is a living document, therefore, it should allow

paper. I had chosen the case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey and how Antonin Scalia brought his view
of originalism to this case. Furthermore, this lead me to read about Sandra Day O Connor, who
changed the standards to the abortion laws. I was able to read a variety of articles and publications on
Antonin Scalia and his childhood which helped me understand how his upbringing contributed to his
viewpoints in his career life. A helpful publication I found interesting was, The Constitution in the
Year 2000: Choices Ahead in Constitutional Interpretations. I was able to look for other policies from
the Government website, in Washington, D.C. Although not all of these sources are included in the
main content of my research paper, it gave me the insight, to understand the variables that contributed
to who Antonin Scalia was and the opinions he held and why they differed from other Justices. I

Victoria Chemicals Report
Introduction The following report shows that the proposal of the modernisation project should obtain
funding from the corporate headquarters of Victoria Chemicals. The project has an initial outlay of
GBP12 million to renovate and rationalise the polypropylene production line at Merseyside plant. This
is done in order to make up for deferred maintenance and exploit opportunities to achieve increased
efficiency. This report will look at the following four main areas of concern in order to calculate the
feasibility of this Merseyside Project: * The cost of GBP2 million for the purchase of new rolling
stock being allocated to the Transport Division or to the Merseyside project. * The cannibalization
affect on Rotterdam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Transport Division would have to pay nothing if it was included in the initial outlay of the
Merseyside Project, yet the Transport Division would gain the benefits from the project with extra
throughput 2 years early at no cost to them, except increased maintenance of their trucks. We do
acknowledge that this is a big assumption to make saying that the Merseyside project should not take
on any transport costs. Therefore we put in the clause that if taking on the Merseyside project
decreases the NPV of their project we can come to some sort of agreement over the percentage of
costs each division should take for the purchase of the new tank cars. There is also an agency problem
here with the executive VP of Transport Division and Intermediate Chemicals Group who receive an
annual incentive bonus pegged to the performance of their division. Hence both executive VP s would
want to reduce costs as much as possible and try off load any cost they can to another division.
Concerns of the ICG Sales and Marketing Department The director of sales raised the issue that the
company wouldn t be able to sell the extra output that the project would produce. Instead of selling
more units in total the Liverpool plant would just cannibalize Rotterdam s sales. Therefore the
company would not be able to take full advantage of the efficiencies of the new project. We disagree
with the directors belief that the new sales will all be

Matthew And John s Gospel
Jesus is the central figure of Christianity. He was born in Bethlehem, Israel, about 2,000 years ago,
and at the age of 30, He began His ministry which lasted 3 1/2 years. He gathered 12 disciples who
followed Him throughout Israel as He went around teaching and performing miracles. Eventually His
popularity and His views, which conflicted with the legalistic Jewish leaders of the time.
The story of Jesus as Christians know and tell it, comes from that part of the Bible called the New
Testament. The first four books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are known as the gospels, meaning
good news. They were all written between about 70 and 100 CE, about two generations after the death
of Jesus, and are based on stories of Jesus, told and retold by his followers. Matthew, Mark, and Luke
are called the synoptic gospels, because they present a common view of Jesus through many common
sayings, parables, and events. Both Matthew and Luke seem to have used Mark s gospel in writing
their own accounts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sometimes in significant ways, the early church did not blend them into one account, but preserved
these four gospels, with their differences. Together they provide four views of the life and teachings of

which means gender portrayals have changed in modern advertising; men are seen in more of

alcohol related advertisements. Women and men now are seen differently in advertisements; there has

The women are not dressed traditionally but modernly. According to Törrönen (2013), you see more
women drinking alcohol now then you did before (p.640). Törrönen (2013) states that in the 1900s
women who drink were seen as sexual models, which meant women got spend their own freedom, got
to enjoy how they look and having their sexual side shown. Women were able to show more pride in
advertisements. Alcohol was seen as a beverage that kept the human relaxed and satisfying. Society
saw alcohol as a rich people s beverage, it was seen as classy. Women were dressed classy, as career
women in some advertisements, and they were holding a glass of alcohol (p.654). Which means
change in alcohol advertisements happened in the 1900s, where women were seen more in alcohol
advertisements. Looking at the Bud light image, it relates to the article because in present day
advertisements women get to express themselves more and they can show off their bodies. In the Bud
light image shown, the woman appears to have an athletic body, she is holding a soccer ball. Looking
at the top right side you could see that it is for the FIFA world cup advertisement for America. The
main target of the advertisement would probably be the people watching the game either in a bar or a
game where they could enjoy that bud light drink. Törrönen (2013) Explains how back in the day
women would not be seen in advertisements showing half their body, where they were keeping it
traditional (p.644). Now, when looking at the image there is huge change in society, the women in the
Bud light image is expressing herself and the body she has made by working out, it also allows the
audience to see how women attracts men to sports, by having these advertisements it gives men
pleasure to drink the beer. The woman in the image is actually African American, which is also a huge

An Introductory Course Into Animal Assisted Therapy Essay
Through this introductory course into Animal Assisted Therapy, I have learned about the Human
Animal Bond, the history of AAT and AAA, the five freedoms, the differences between AAT and
AAA, and the various populations in which this therapy responds greatly to. This paper gives a
detailed and comprehensive overview of what I have learned from this course and my own perception
of how I will incorporate things learned from this course into my everyday life and into my future
career in AAT. The HAB, or the Human Animal Bond, is the relationship between human beings and
animals. The American Veterinary Medical Associations committee on the Human Animal Bond
describes HAB as, a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between people and other animals
that is influenced by behaviors that are essential to the health and well being of both (Fine, 2015).
There are many factors that play into creating a heathy relationship for both the animal and the human.
Relationships between animals and humans have to be voluntary, persistent, reciprocal, and built upon
trust (Fine, 2015). Humans need to increase their understanding and care for the animal while the
animal increases their trust level for the human (Fine, 2015). Three theories that aim to tell us why the
HAB exists are social support, the foundation for mental health and healthy functioning, theories of
attachment, which explains the human needs of protection (both needing protection and protecting
others), and the biophilia

  • 2. The Plight Of Intensive Agriculture 2015 Waipahu HS Desmond Mahor Kyle Rafael Marcelion The Plight of Intensive Agriculture Agriculture has faced some of the most significant challenges in recent years. Major challenges include: the rapid growth of the human population, and the increased demand for agricultural land and environmental costs of non renewable resources. The current industrial agriculture system consumes water, and topsoil at unsustainable rates. It contributes to numerous forms of environmental degradation, including water pollution, soil depletion, and diminishing biodiversity. The following environmental problems are associated with prevailing production methods: Synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilizers are polluting soil, water, and air. Soil is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1990, It is estimated that since World War II, poor farming practices had damaged about 550 million hectares an area equivalent to 38% of all farmland in use today (Oldman et al.28) . Industrial agriculture endangers soil health because it depends on heavy machinery that compacts the soil, destroying soil structure and killing beneficial organisms in the soil food web. Soil conservation is a key integral part in sustainability since it takes many years for soil to naturally form. Despite the simplicity of industrial monoculture farming, the practice itself does not provide any measures to conserve topsoil. If farmers do not take part in protecting soil fertility, more farmable lands will be lost, resulting in food production decline. Agriculture affects water resources in two ways: irrigating fields using surface waters or aquifers diverts water from other potential uses; and when farming practices pollute surface waters and aquifers, they reduce the amount of water that is suitable for other uses. The US Environmental Protection Agency has blamed current farming practices for 70% of the pollution in the nation s rivers and streams. The agency reports that runoff of chemicals, silt, and animal waste from US farmland has polluted more than 173,000 miles of waterways. Agriculture accounts for about two thirds of all water use worldwide, far exceeding industrial and municipal use (Spooler 310). In many parts of the world, irrigation is depleting ... • 3. The Harsh Stereotypes Of Cafeteria Food And Negative... The harsh stereotypes of cafeteria food and negative connotations of assumedly horrible lunch ladies are as old and traditional as the American school system itself. Interestingly, the concept of the school lunch is one that has been revolutionized over and over to fit the needs of American youth. The overarching program that oversees and occasionally refurbishes the American schooltime meal is the National School Lunch Program, put on through the United States Department of Agriculture. In 2012 this program provided over 30 million children meals that were nutritionally sensible as well as fiscally responsible (United States Department of Agriculture, 2013), frequently offering these meals at reduced or no cost to children otherwise unable to afford them. In addition to keeping costs low to accommodate low income students, the National School Lunch program has found that it must also balance an increase in highly nutritious foods to battle childhood obesity, with the task of appeasing the increasingly picky eaters that comprise American youth. It is within the realm of trying to strike this precarious and delicate balance that the National School Lunch Program has created the problem of children refusing the nutrients they are being provided, therefore wasting insurmountable amounts of food and learning incredibly unhealthy nutritional habits along the way. The National School Lunch Program was created to ensure that all children, regardless of age, race, socioeconomic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Elementary Classroom Observation This paper will look at boys behaviour in an elementary school classroom from an education professional standpoint. Specifically, how to modify the aggressive behaviour of boys who speak out of turn in class. It will look at the effect that behaviour specific praise has on aggressive behaviour. Multiple forms of differential reinforcement will also be examined in regards to how to transform a boy who acts out for attention into a boy who understands his behaviour is not necessary. Differences between girls and boys in an elementary school classroom will also be considered. Through this process teacher, child and the rest of the class will benefit. This paper will begin with ideas for general classroom management and then narrow down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main behaviour issue that she would like Austin to work on is not speaking out in class. She would like him to raise his hand before he speaks. In Ms. Walker s class, the students are encouraged to raise their hand anytime they have something to say, a question to ask, or a request for the teacher. Since the beginning of the school year, Austin has repeatedly disobeyed this rule. It is posted in the front of the classroom, and Ms. Walker consistently reminds Austin of this, but he forgets. He is not a typical bad student. He does not do this simply for the fun of it he actually forgets to raise his hand. He has a thought and immediately wants to act on that thought. He comes from a broken home: his father left the family when Austin was seven. His mother struggles while working two jobs. Austin goes to the before and after school program the school offers. His mother is loving towards all four of her children, but Austin does occasionally get neglected. He has less than ideal self esteem and is difficult to motivate. When instructed on a one to one basis, Austin is able to complete tasks with moderate difficulty. Ms. Walker does not have an Educational Assistant in her class, but she does make an effort to instruct Austin individually there are other needs in her class that take priority over this one. Behaviour specific praise for Austin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing Mythology And Religion Mythology and religion are different yet they have similar features. Mythology is most often considered one part of a religion. Religion is a broader encompass of rituals, morals and experiences. If a mythology is pulled away from the religion that it originated with, a myth loses its sacred importance and starts to be looked on more as a legend or tale. Religion is a belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine and the moral codes, practices values and institutions associated with such belief. (Religion) People who have religious beliefs or practices usually believe in a higher being, practice worship, and have practices of ethics and politics. The word myth comes from the Greek word mythos, which means [word,] [speech,] [tale,] or [story,] and that is essentially what a myth is: a story. (Morford, Lenardon, and Sham, 3). Like religious stories, myths are often entertaining, morally instructive and inspirational. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some religious organizations believe that some or all of their stories are also historically accurate. They believe that they were revealed to their ancestors or elders divinely. They feel that calling their stories [myths] disrespects their religion. Especially within Christianity, objection to the word [myth] goes back to a historical basis. By the time of Christ, the Greco Roman world had started to use the term [myth] (Greek mythos) to mean [fable, fiction, lie]; as a result, the early Christian theologians used [myth] in this sense. • 6. Rhetorical Analysis Of Pope Francis I will be analyzing the speech of Pope Francis to a Joint Session of Congress from September of 2015 in Washington, D.C. for my final rhetorical analysis. This speech is important because it addresses societal issues in the United States and the whole world such as poverty, religion, war, the environment, immigration, and gun laws. The pope not only addresses the issues, but also acknowledges many of the marvelous features of America. In this paper, I will provide a summary of research I found on the context of the speech, the speaker, the audience, and the effects the speech had on society. Pope Francis is the present day spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, also known as the bishop of Rome or pontiff. He is the very first pope from Latin American, Argentina specifically, and is now known as the first pope ever that has addressed Congress. According to the guardian.com, Pope Francis, electrified Congress with a call for action on climate change, immigration, poverty and capital punishment, laying down a challenge for the United States to transcend division and rediscover its ideals (Carroll 1). He addressed these issues and drew a great interest from the audience for fifty one minutes in the chamber of the House of Representatives. The audience of the speech consisted of a large number of lawmakers, aides, and invited guests. The New York Times, referenced some of the people that attended: Sitting behind Francis were Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and House Speaker John A. Boehner, both Catholics. Flanking the aisle at the front were Secretary of State John Kerry and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., and not far behind them was Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, all Catholics (Baker, Yardley 17). Others in the audience included three other Supreme Court associate justices, Justice Anthony Kennedy, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Justice Sonia Sotomayor, other cabinet members, senators, House members, presidential candidates, a few four star generals, priests, nuns, and bishops. According to the New York Times, the lawmakers interrupted Pope Francis about thirty times applauding him, causing the speech to run fifty one minutes when originally scheduled for thirty. *****add ... • 7. Machaut Secular Music This performance meanders through a selection of secular songs dating from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Music is performed in chronological order, with samplings from the beginning, middle and end of each period. Changes in vocal arrangements, instruments, mood and style all shift as the audience is led through centuries of musical innovation and revolution. Music Through the Ages begins with A l entrada del temps clar (When the Clear Days Come), an anonymous secular song written by early troubadours in the Middle Ages. Troubadours were poet musicians living in Southern France from the eleventh through thirteenth centuries, and spoke Occitan, a Romance language still spoken in parts of the region today. Handel used the music repeatedly, again in a 1707 oratorio and four years later in the opera Rinaldo, the first Italian opera written for the English stage. The story of Rinaldo takes place in Jerusalem at the end of the eleventh century, at the time of the first Crusades. The lead character Rinaldo is sitting with his lover, Almirena, when suddenly she is abducted. In the next act, Almirena is in her captor s custody, taken away from her love and with no chance to escape. Praying for mercy, Almirena sings Lascia ch io pianga, a song filled with sadness, fear and longing for Rinaldo. • 8. Intolerance During The Nazi Regime Intolerance The definition of intolerance is the unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one s own . There have been many times in history when people have been unwilling to accept things that are different than what they belief. There has been the Nazi regime, whites segregating blacks, people who disagree with people who are homesexual, and Donald Trump. One example of intolerance is during the Nazi regime. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he tried to imprison and kill all Jews and nobody for the most part tried to stop him. Hitler didn t stop there though, he still thought that everyone who didn t have blonde hair and blue eyes were not good enough, because they were not what he thought to be the perfect race. There was the holocaust. There were about 42, 500 facilities in Germany that were used for slave labor, mass murder, and other human right abuses. It is to be predicted that about 200,000 Jews died during the Holocaust. Jews were hunted down and were forced to go into hiding. If they were caught, they would be sent to concentration camps where many died. Six million Jews died, including 1.5 million children during the Nazi regime. Five million ... Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication Of The Rights Of Women After considering the historic page, and viewing the living world with anxious solicitude, the most melancholy emotions of sorrowful indignation have depressed my spirits, and I have sighed when obliged to confess that either nature has made a great difference between man and man, or that the civilization which has hitherto taken place in the world has been very partial (Black 102). The opening sentence of A Vindication of the Rights of Women by Mary Wollstonecraft powerfully declares her stance of the disregard given the women of her time. Vindication is defined as proof that someone or something is right, reasonable, or justified (dictionary.com). • 12. Vulnerability And Risk Of Poor Health INTRODUCTION Everyone is potentially vulnerable at some point over the extent of one s lifetime. More specifically, everyone is potentially at risk of poor physical, psychological, or social health. The word vulnerable is defined by the Merrian Webster s Dictionary as capable of being physically wounded or open to attack or damage . Commonly, the word vulnerability indicates one s susceptibility to health problems, harm or neglect. Some however, maybe more or less susceptible or at risk of poor health at different times in their lives, while certain individuals and communities are more likely to be at risk than others at any given point in time (Aday, 1994). Thus, vulnerable populations may be defined as social groups with an increased susceptibility to adverse health outcomes (Flaskerud Winslow, 1998). A fundamental component to the definition of vulnerability is the concept of risk, or the relative probability that an individual may become ill within a given period of time (Aday, 1994). Community and individual characteristics are risk factors predictive of the incidence of vulnerability. Risk factors, for example smoking or lead exposure, are attributes that are related to increases in the probability of occurrence of health related outcomes (Aday, 1998). Evidence of differences in vulnerability or increased risk, which lead to negative health outcomes include: premature mortality, comparative morbidity, decreased functional and mental status, decreased ability to ... Through the eye of the camera, it also shows the rapid industrialization of Soviet Russia through a glorifying perspective. The film fits into the socialist realism movement and seeks to paint a positive image of the Soviet Union before the viewers with realistic images. Knowing Vertov s background as a newsreel producer for the state, it is rather predictable that the film would feature the positive impacts of the communist revolution on Soviet life. By making this film, Vertov resolves his concern that there were films about various industries and the making of all kinds of other goods, and there had not yet been one about cinema (Hicks 178). Through the heroic depictions of the life of a cameraman, the film industry is exalted as one of the mechanical industries that drive the advancement of the Soviet Union. Although Vertov stayed loyal to his artistic principle of depicting the reality at a time when blatantly manipulative narratives were popular, this film is nonetheless a propaganda that sought to unite the lower class into a common purpose, contributing their strengths and vitality for the communist industrial revolution. One of the motifs in the film is the shots of the cameraman at work, often interwoven with the visuals seen by the eye of the camera. Vertov composes this film with his method called kino eye that serves to demystify film and strip away the illusion of its unmediated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In phase one, it involved value and wrote: The wheel, which broke up the light into the four primary hues and their intermediaries, prompted Monet s initial and initially ill defined goal constraint. For Sunrise (1873), he used the colors yellow, orange, blue, green and brown. What I found interesting is that he muted the colors so the painting looks dull. Martin Luther s Jr And The Christian Believer Free Martin Luther s three major treaties were attempts to persuade Pope Leo X and Roman Catholics that the theology of the Reformation was not a novelty in the faith, but a pure confession of the Word of God and consistent with the truth of the Holy Scriptures Each one focused on various practices and beliefs of the Catholic Church that Martin Luther deemed were wrong. One of Martin Luther s three major treatises, On A Freedom of a Christian, reprimands the widely held Christian belief that good works justified our salvation. Martin Luther had hoped that his writings would educate and remind the people and religious officials that salvation stems from our faith. Faith should not be categorized as a virtue but rather a trust in God in which one builds when they encounter the trials and temptations in life. Therefore, it is the Gospel, the word of God, that sets the Christian believer free. However, this new insight had led people to believe that both faith and good works is necessary for justification. Martin Luther wanted to separate the truth from the false teachings. Therefore, Martin Luther explains that although the Christian is freed good works are still compulsory because it s function is to help Christians discipline themselves in order to better serve the needs of their neighbor as long as they have the faith first in order for their works to be considered good and pleasing to God. As I was taught, a hook is a crucial part in your essay because it will help grab the audience s attention so that they will continue to be invested throughout the paper. For example, the hook could be a question or a quote about the overall topic of your essay. A helpful publication I found interesting was, The Constitution in the Year 2000: Choices Ahead in Constitutional Interpretations. I was able to look for other policies from the Government website, in Washington, D.C. Although not all of these sources are included in the main content of my research paper, it gave me the insight, to understand the variables that contributed to who Antonin Scalia was and the opinions he held and why they differed from other Justices. I learned how Antonin Scalia was able to leave a lasting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Victoria Chemicals Report Introduction The following report shows that the proposal of the modernisation project should obtain funding from the corporate headquarters of Victoria Chemicals. The project has an initial outlay of GBP12 million to renovate and rationalise the polypropylene production line at Merseyside plant. This is done in order to make up for deferred maintenance and exploit opportunities to achieve increased efficiency. This report will look at the following four main areas of concern in order to calculate the feasibility of this Merseyside Project: * The cost of GBP2 million for the purchase of new rolling stock being allocated to the Transport Division or to the Merseyside project. * The cannibalization affect on Rotterdam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Transport Division would have to pay nothing if it was included in the initial outlay of the Merseyside Project, yet the Transport Division would gain the benefits from the project with extra throughput 2 years early at no cost to them, except increased maintenance of their trucks. We do acknowledge that this is a big assumption to make saying that the Merseyside project should not take on any transport costs. Therefore we put in the clause that if taking on the Merseyside project decreases the NPV of their project we can come to some sort of agreement over the percentage of costs each division should take for the purchase of the new tank cars. There is also an agency problem here with the executive VP of Transport Division and Intermediate Chemicals Group who receive an annual incentive bonus pegged to the performance of their division. Hence both executive VP s would want to reduce costs as much as possible and try off load any cost they can to another division. Concerns of the ICG Sales and Marketing Department The director of sales raised the issue that the company wouldn t be able to sell the extra output that the project would produce. Instead of selling more units in total the Liverpool plant would just cannibalize Rotterdam s sales. Therefore the company would not be able to take full advantage of the efficiencies of the new project. We disagree with the directors belief that the new sales will all be ... The story of Jesus as Christians know and tell it, comes from that part of the Bible called the New Testament. The first four books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are known as the gospels, meaning good news. They were all written between about 70 and 100 CE, about two generations after the death of Jesus, and are based on stories of Jesus, told and retold by his followers. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the synoptic gospels, because they present a common view of Jesus through many common sayings, parables, and events. The Gospel of Matthew, for instance, is most conscious of the debates within Judaism after the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE. • 36. An Introductory Course Into Animal Assisted Therapy Essay Through this introductory course into Animal Assisted Therapy, I have learned about the Human Animal Bond, the history of AAT and AAA, the five freedoms, the differences between AAT and AAA, and the various populations in which this therapy responds greatly to. This paper gives a detailed and comprehensive overview of what I have learned from this course and my own perception of how I will incorporate things learned from this course into my everyday life and into my future career in AAT. The HAB, or the Human Animal Bond, is the relationship between human beings and animals. The American Veterinary Medical Associations committee on the Human Animal Bond describes HAB as, a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between people and other animals that is influenced by behaviors that are essential to the health and well being of both (Fine, 2015). There are many factors that play into creating a heathy relationship for both the animal and the human. Relationships between animals and humans have to be voluntary, persistent, reciprocal, and built upon trust (Fine, 2015). Humans need to increase their understanding and care for the animal while the animal increases their trust level for the human (Fine, 2015). Three theories that aim to tell us why the HAB exists are social support, the foundation for mental health and healthy functioning, theories of attachment, which explains the human needs of protection (both needing protection and protecting others), and the biophilia ...
