Government Regulation of the Microsoft Corporation Essay...
Government Regulation of the Microsoft Corporation
Does the government have the right to regulate large corporations, namely the Microsoft Corporation?
If so, then to what extent can the government do so? Based on our research, it is the government s
responsibility to remedy Microsoft s noncompetitive behavior in order to increase fair competition.
The Microsoft vs. the Government trial has many possible outcomes, which may affect a specific
party. Not only does the outcome affect the Microsoft Corporation, but it also affects the rival
companies and the consumer. Though not as eminent, the outcomes may also affect the future
decisions against any other companies, possibly committing the same violations as Microsoft.

Microsoft s share of the market for Intel compatible PC operating systems is extremely large and
stable, 2. Microsoft s dominant market share is protected by a high barrier of entry, 3. Microsoft s
customers lack a commercially viable alternative to Windows ( Microsoft: Court s Findings of Fact ).
The barrier of entry would prevent an aspiring entrant into the relevant market from drawing a
significant number of customers away from a dominant incumbent even if the incumbent priced its
products substantially above competitive levels for a significant period of time ( Microsoft: Court s
Findings...). Obviously, the rival companies such as, IBM and Apple, have found great fact, that in the
most part, states that Microsoft is truly dismantling the competitive market. IBM and Apple created
OS/2 and the Mac OS, respectively. Because of this barrier of entry, these top companies have not
been able to compete effectively with
Windows ( Microsoft: Court s...). Microsoft implies that there still is competition; such as Mac OS,
Linux, and other operating systems. Though this claim may have support, the District Court found that
Windows accounts for a greater than
95% share...court also found that even if Mac OS were included, Microsoft s share would exceed 80%
(United States Court of Appeals).
Microsoft may feel that there is competitiveness in the relevant market, the facts behind the claims of

An Integral Part Of All Modern Societies
Nikolay Kolev

Humanities 2
Dec, 15, 2015 Written works have been an integral part of all modern societies. This is even more so
true with the Puritans, whose life was governed by their religious principles. It is crucial to realise to
what degree religion is nested inside the Puritan mindset. Their faith was not simply common ideas
they shared. For them their religion was the only thing that could be important, it was the basis of their
values and communal structure. For example they left on the journey to america so they could freely
worship their religion and to show the rest of the world the moral high ground it represented. This was
because of the definite way their faith was structured. They believed in the concept of ... Show more

Consider the fearful danger you are in: It is a great furnace of wrath, a wide and bottomless pit, full of
fire of wrath, that you are held over in the hand of that God .
As is to be expected from their religion Puritan writing can be divided into three major categories
religious literature, poetry and journals. All Puritan writing had a common goal To transform a
mysterious god mysterious because he is separate from the world while also glorifying him. Another
important thing to notice that is common between all Puritan writing is that it always has a clearly
defined purpose.Looking at their religious literature it s easy to see that it is actually in fact influenced
by their religious devotion(...). Their sermons were usually plain in style as to stay with their original
idea and purpose without losing coherency, while also appealing to the common listener as straight to
the point and convincing. There are a couple of main themes a sermon could have. It could be
preaching to the people who do not share their beliefs with the Puritans. Such a sermon would
describe the danger in which nonbelievers are while urging them to rethink their way of life and
understand that fleeing to christ is their only salvation. An example of such a sermon would be Sinners
in the hand of an angry god . Its structure is simple and

William Shakespeare s Globe Theatre Essay
Shakespeare s Globe Theatre
The Globe Theater, an entertainment outlet for all people of that time, provided a place for
Shakespeare s plays to be performed. It was the third and most famous playhouse in London. When it
was built, it was one of the most important playhouses in London. The Globe s architecture was
intriguing for its time and its life was long and prosperous.
The Globe was built by two brothers, Cuthbert and Richard Burbage. They had inherited the Globe s
predecessor, The Theatre, from their father, James Burbage (Williams 365). Fearing their lease would
run out, the brothers dismantled it and carried the materials to Bankside, where the Swan and Rose
already stood (Britanica). It was built ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Until 1600, no more than two companies had been licensed at any one time to perform daily within the
reach of London. Half the shares were kept by the Burbages, the rest going to the Chamberlain s Men
which Shakespeare was a member (Britanica). Each of the sixteen shareholders of the globe made
about 25 pounds (Williams 365). When James came to the throne in 1603, he favored the Globe,
bringing it success (Andrews 167). One night before a planned revolt, The Chamberlain s company
was asked to perform Richard II in order to instill mutinous thoughts in the audience. (Westerhof)
The admission to the Globe was one shilling to the boxes. Lee stated that the general admission was
one penny, and a stool on the stage was sixpence. Posters, or bills, were placed throughout London on
rails and posts. John Northbrooke said in 1579, They used to set up their bills upon posts some certain
days before to admonish people to make resort to their theatres. The Globe was thought to have gotten
its name from the sign representing Hercules or Atlas carrying the globe with the motto, All the World
s a Stage. (Williams 365)
In 1613, the Globe burnt down accidentally during a performance of Henry VIII (Miller Schutz 21). It
was set on fire by a cannon set off to mark the King s entrance onstage in a scene at Cardinal Woshey
s Palace. The entire theatre was destroyed in one hour (Britanica). It was rebuilt immediately with

Nt1310 Unit 5 Final Paper
It can be seen that dhrystone scores and MIPS scores of the both Emulators are surpassing the values
provided for Motorola 68040 at 25 MHz by promotional literature of Motorola. Interestingly, these
emulations were conducted on ARM Cortex A7, which is a low end processor. Low end here
specifically means that ARM Cortex A7 has lower performance in terms of DMIPS/MHz compared to
performance of Freescale MPC8270 used in processor module of ABB AC 800M. This instinctively
implies that these emulations can be potentially considered for integrating legacy applications built for
ABB AC 450 using Motorola 68040 into modern ABB AC 800M based on a high end processor
MPC8270. These results are also significant because emulators were open source under GPL licenses;
this means that there was no extra cost involved for commercial licenses. Therefore, these emulators

Dhrystone is especially designed to estimate integer performance of a processor based systems. A
particular dhrystone score mentions number of times a fundamental function of a dhrystone source
code is executed per second. Better this score is, the better is the performance of a processor. To
calculate time taken by a dhrystone fundamental function, dhrystone uses standard times(2) function
by default. However, times(2) provides time values in terms of processor clocks consumed. To have
this value in seconds dhrystone also requires specification of clock rate used by a processor.
Therefore, it is a convention to provide dhrystone score with a clock rate. However, there is no need of
specifying clock rate, if the time calculations are performed using standard time(NULL) function. For
emulators, time calculations are done using standard time(NULL) function. Hence, in this report no
clock rates are specified with dhrystone scores associated with

Analysis Of The Movie Defiance
Defiance is a movie written, directed and produced by Edward Zwick. This movie s setting is in Nazi
occupied territory in Belarus during World War II. The storyline follows the Bielski brothers as they
attempt to evade capture and fight for their lives, and over the course of the movie, the lives of twelve
hundred other Jewish survivors on their quest for life, liberty and the new promised land. The film
features Daniel Craig as Tuvia Bielski, Liev Schreiber as Zus Bielski, Jamie Bell as Asael Bielski and
George MacKay as Aron Bielski. The film is based upon the novel Defiance: The Bielski Partisans
written by Nechama Tec and is a true story s of survival during the Nazi occupation of eastern Europe.

The director pulls the viewer into the struggle to survive and what it feels like to be hunted like
animals. Hearing of the dissident Bielskis, other Jewish refugees begin to come to join the camp.
Unable to provide for themselves adequately, the brothers argue over how they will take care of a
growing colony of people, Zwick builds in tension between the Bielskis in an ever increasing fashion
leading the moviegoer to wonder when the breaking point will come and that it does. Anyone with
siblings can relate to this pressure cooker atmosphere when you have just had enough. There is a battle
between savage and civility, both inside the camp and outside. The eldest Bielski sets the tone for the
behavior for those within his camp stating, [w]e may be hunted like animals, but we will not become
animals (Zwick, Defiance). Tensions continue to rise to the point of an altercation, leading to a
separation in the Bielski clan Zus joins the Russian army rebels who are also hiding out in the forest.
The director shows the stark difference between the brothers when it comes to taking a life, Tuvia
going out of his way not to pull the trigger and Zus not hesitating one second. Both are leaders but
with differing views of what being a leader means. The winter came, and brought with it sickness,
strife, starvation, death and more Jewish refugees. Many undertones are laid equating Tuvia to Moses

Infinity In The Real World
Now of Infinity
Lastly, the discovery of Infinity comes to the now of Infinity. Regarding the applications of Infinity in
the real world today. Andrew Hendrickson pointed out a poignant thought by Einstein, only two things
are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I m not sure about the former (2016). Therefore,
infinity, as discussed before is not a number, it is not a physical object, that we know of today, but as
time has presented, infinity is under constant discovery. Fields have expanded since the period of the
ancient Greeks. As stated above in the how of infinity, similar are the now of infinity. So, can there
still be unfounded infinities left to be discovered? How is infinity used in our world of today?
Moreover, infinity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chivalry Compared To Today
Chivalry was designated for knights as a moral code or law for them to abide by, but sadly has been
slowly being brushed under the rug by their following generations. Growing up I was taught certain
aspects of a new hybrid of the Code of Chivalry such as courtesy, honor, humbleness, respect, and
proper manners. Chivalry since medieval times has slowly dissipated into almost nothing compared to
today. Now I am not suggesting that these traits have been lost indefinitely but they have certainly
minimized. Parents are not teaching their children to be polite or use proper manners. Those traits are
something I would like to thank my father for instilling in myself. I hold courtesy, honor, humbleness,
respect, and proper manners highly because many people respect that. So how exactly did these values
change me? These imperative values changed and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I honestly am not sure why I do it, I could be exhausted from working five days then go in to help on
my only day off just to be nice. I abide by these rules I set into place to keep myself in check. I often
see people at school or in public who are rude and do not show any respect towards others and that
enrages me. I would never be able to live with myself if I acted like an asinine fool. No one in return
will respect me if I did. I look to showcase myself in the brightest light possible and set an impressive
image for others to look at me as. Using my personal code of chivalry I believe has really molded me
into what I am. I hold my eating utensils properly, keep my elbows off the table while eating, say
please and thank you, help others when given the chance, and reflect myself in a brighter light. I want
to stick out from others to be viewed as a good person. Being good feels good. It is as simple as that
and if I can help others and myself along the way then I must continue to us my personal code of

The Brotherhoods in the Invisible Man
The Brotherhood in the Invisible Man Brotherhoods are associations, usually of men, that unite for
common purposes. The members in the brotherhood typically respect one another, defend one another,
and cooperate to obtain specific goals. The American Federation of Labor (AFL) was one of the first
federations of labor unions in the United States, whose goal is to create better employment
opportunities for workers. Kappa Sigma and Sigma Chi are two of the largest university fraternities in
the country and whose similar values are leadership, service, and scholarship. In the novel, the
narrator rarely speaks of his family, except for his grandfather who continues to appear throughout the
text, thus there is a large absence of family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

novel however the narrator learns about his different personas when he disguises himself and is taken
to be Rinehart. By wearing dark green shades and a big hat for a disguise, people in the streets
recognize him as the man Rinehart. Through their perceptions of him, the narrator sees how Rinehart
has taken on the conflicting identities of a lover, hipster, runner, pimp, briber, and Reverend. He was a
broad man, a man of parts who got around. Rinehart the rounder. (p.376). Rinehart appears to be
especially devious and deceptive, in reality; he has simply learned to adapt to his environment. Two of
the three leaders offer the narrator lifestyles that would help him gain some recognition or benefits like
Brother Jack and his brotherhood or Rinehart and the ability of disguise. Ras doesn t necessarily offer
a lifestyle to the narrator, and instead they become fast enemies. The narrator develops different
relationships with the leaders of the three brotherhoods. Each of the leaders develops either a
friendship or becomes an enemy except Rinehart who is neither to the narrator. Ras is the main black
opponent to the Brotherhood whom the narrator has to deal with in Harlem. He calls the narrator a
traitor for not militantly supporting his race against the white

1984 and North Korea
1984 demonstrates a dystopian society in Oceania by presenting a relentless dictator, Big Brother, who
uses his power to control the minds of his people and to ensure that his power never exhausts. Aspects
of 1984 are evidently established in components of society in North Korea. With both of these society
s under a dictator s rule, there are many similarities that are distinguished between the two. Orwell s
1984 becomes parallel to the world of dystopia in North Korea by illustrating a nation that remains
isolated under an almighty ruler. North Korea profoundly corresponds with Oceania by being a highly
militarized nation. Although it has been decades since the Korean war, there has been an everlasting

Big Brother is able to control the minds of the Oceanian people so that there are no corrupt thoughts.
Syme says to Winston, [d]on t you see the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought,
in the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible (Orwell 46). In order for Big Brother to
stay in power, it is essential to limit the people s ability to consciously make bad choices. This sense of
being compliant and obeying every rule made by Big Brother is made successful because of his ability
to limit the thoughts of the people through Newspeak. The rebellious protagonist of 1984, Winston,
falls to Big Brother because of his manipulation. The purpose, then, of totalitarian government
becomes only that of sustaining its feeling of power. Winston s final defeat is encapsulated in the last
words of the novel... [H]is struggle is finished: He loved Big Brother (Franks). This poignant end for
Winston proves that Big Brother can successfully control the mind of almost anyone, obtaining
complete obedience and loyalty. Kim Il Sung was able to achieve this same manipulation in a much

Alaska Is A Great Wealth Of Resources Essay
Alaska is home to a great wealth of resources, including but not limited to, various types of valuable
minerals, a large and populous variety of wildlife which provide furs, and large deposits of natural
gas. The surrounding ocean provides it s bounty as well. A thriving fishing and crabbing community
makes its home along the various cities along the coast of Alaska. Without these natural resources,
Alaska would have a failing economy in which the local government would fail to function due to the
lack of revenue.
Alaska is the largest state in the entire United States of America, and has one of the largest economies.
Despite this fact, it is also one of the least populated. This is perhaps due to the harsh, cold climate,
the likes of which are not seen in the rest of the continental United States. Alaska, previously occupied
by Russia, was purchased by the American government for the sum of 7.2 million US Dollars in 1867.
It became an official state in the union on January 3rd 1959. (Hutchinson, Par. 24)
For some intrepid souls, this is a land of opportunity. Petroleum, arguably the most extensive and
valuable natural resource available in Alaska, accounts for approximately 80% of Alaska s state
revenue. (Hutchinson, Par. 21) Alaska is unique in this way alone. Most other state governments in the
US derive their income from taxes of its citizens and businesses, in the form of property taxes, income
taxes, sales taxes, and the like. On the other hand, these types of

Burmese Pythons in Florida
Burmese Pythons in Florida
There are many different types of snakes in the state of Florida from the average garden snake to the
very venomous Eastern Diamondback Rattle but so far the only one that has both citizens and
politicians truly worried about are the Burmese Pythons that are located in the Everglades, a National

In early January of 2013 legislators came up with a very way of catching pythons that are loose and
out of the National Park, it is called the 2013 Python Challenge . There is a hunt for Burmese pythons
in the Everglades, this contest started in the later part of January and will end the 18th of February.
Nearly 1,600 hunters from 38 states, Washington D.C. and Canada, took part in the challenge, which
offered cash prizes (Tuffley). The Challenge lasted for a month in which 68 pythons were caught.
A$1500 reward was given to the hunter who caught the most pythons and $1000 for the hunter who
caught the longest. As of the 11th of January there has been 11 pythons caught in the Everglades and
are being kept at the University of Florida; until, the contest is over. There is a prize for the longest
and the biggest snake caught. (Greenwood). According to the website, the hunt is being conducted to
raise public awareness about Burmese pythons and how this invasive species is a threat to the
Everglades ecosystem, including native wildlife. (Surely, the appeal of saying that one has
successfully captured and killed a gigantic invasive death snake should not be discounted, either.)

Lyme Disease Is A Disease
Lyme Disease Lyme s disease is a disease that is transmitted to humans when an infected tick bites the
human s skin. According to Lymedisease.org, Symptoms of early Lyme disease may present as a flu
like illness (fever, chills, sweats, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea and joint pain). Some patients have a
rash or Bell s palsy (facial drooping). However, although a rash shaped like a bull s eye is considered
characteristic of Lyme disease, many people develop a different kind of Lyme rash or none at all.
Lyme disease can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms mimic so many other disorders,
especially if a rash is not present. Lymedisease.org, also reports that only 42% of cases had a rash .
Furthermore, lymedisease.org goes on to report that, Many Lyme symptoms, such as fatigue, cognitive
impairment, joint pain, poor sleep, mood problems, muscle pain, and neurological presentations also
occur in other diseases. Hence, the symptoms of Lyme disease significantly overlap those of chronic
fatigue, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson s disease, ALS, depression
and Alzheimer s disease. Many Lyme patients report being misdiagnosed with a different condition
before being properly diagnosed with Lyme disease. Lyme disease can affect nearly all of our body s
functions in one way or another. According to Lyme expert Dr. Lee Cowden, Typically, the

Primary Differences In Ancient Egyptian Religion
The ancient Egyptian civilization began in ca. 2700 until 1075 BC. The Egyptians depended on the
Nile River for their economy, rural, and religion. During the middle and new kingdoms in Egypt, the
Israelites were slaves, but God delivered them out of Egypt. There are the primary differences are the
worship, purpose of man, and life after death. The first primary difference between Egyptian religion
and Biblical Truth is worship. The Egyptians worshiped and believed in many gods. The worship of
many gods is called polytheism. These gods were invented my man and they were untrue. Some of
these gods were Horus, Isis, Ra, Osiris, Amun, Anubis, and many more. In the Bible, it states that
there is only One True God, God of the Bible. We should worship our One True God only. In 1

Okonkwo Character Analysis
Most people think that being just a normal human being is good enough, but in Okonkwo s case he
wants to gain power and create a name for himself. Okonkwo has many different emotions and
different ways to express them. Violence is a main action and emotion he uses to gain power and take
control over others. Throughout the novel he is portrayed as a strong but impulsive character and
shows hardship all the way till the very end. This protagonist relays himself as a multi emotional
character. His actions are portrayed as loving and caring, but can be turned around in seconds to be a
harmful and abusive father. His acts of violence include beating his wife, using his family, and having
his dad teach him the ways of life to gain and accomplish his full potential at others expenses. As the
novel begins traditions and customs are taught by Okonkwo s dad Unoka. He has to teach his sons to
follow the traditions and customs to become a powerful leader and gain power that is needed for the
real world. Having a fear of becoming powerless sets the tone for Okonkwo who wants to strive his
hardest even when worst comes to worst. The father of three shows violence as he gets taught new
traditions and has sudden emotional outbursts. Many traditions and customs were based upon social
classes in this tribe, but for Okonkwo they were based upon his own goals and achievements. He
decides to push himself even harder due to the fact that his father Unoka dies and is not able to

Catch 22 Analysis
Joseph Heller details the mental and emotional trials of war through the main character Yossarian, in
his novel Catch 22. Heller was born on May 1, 1923. He was raised by his two parents, Isaac and Lena
Heller. Once he was old enough, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and became a B 25 wing
bombardier. He flew a total of 60 missions, and even became first lieutenant. Between 1948 and 1950,
Heller attended multiple colleges including the University of Southern California, New York
University, and Columbia University ( Joseph Heller ). Heller published his first major work, Catch

The minds of the men turn darker as the novel goes along, further representing the major theme of
crazy throughout Heller s writing. There is an inevitable truth that war and its wages forces man to
succumb to psychotic fears and actions.
Likely as a result of war, Yossarian is presented with an irrational fear that anyone and everyone is out
to kill him. Even from the beginning of the novel, it is stated multiple times that Yossarian presumes
that people are intentionally trying to harm or kill him. From an outside point of view, it may seem
quite ridiculous, but given the circumstances and stress he is put under, it is obvious why he feels this
way. An example of a stressful situation in which Yossarian reacts with his fear is the line, The
crawlway was Yossarian s lifeline to outside from a plane about to fall, but Yossarian swore at it with
seething antagonism, reviled it as an obstacle put there by providence as part of the plot that would
destroy him. (48). Throughout the book, other characters make it known that Yossarian has a complex.

Calling Vs. Texting Appropriate Communication When Phone...
Two of the most common ways to communicate in today s age are calling and texting. There are many
advantages and disadvantages to these modern communication methods. Phone calls can help both
communicators to better understand the conversation, but can be very public to people standing
nearby. On the other hand, texting is more discreet in public, but texts can make it harder to decipher
the meaning behind the words. Where one option lacks, the other provides for your needs, and vice
versa.
Texts have many advantages, as well as disadvantages. The benefits of texting include quick
conversations when time is scarce, and the ability for a reserved person to communicate. Texting
provides the opportunity to have immediate communication when ... Show more content on

Some of the benefits of calling include being more suitable for long conversations, as well as making
sure the other person receives the message. Calling is more appropriate for long or complex
conversations because lengthy and complicated ideas are not as easy to convey with typed words.
Conversation can better move around the topic, and be better explained, when spoken words are used
to get the ideas across. Furthermore, when a telephone call is made, it can be ensured that the intended
person is the one to receive the message. This does not always work with texting. No texted reply
from the other person could either mean that they didn t receive the information, or that they simply
didn t feel the need to respond. When calling, the caller will know that the answerer received the
message once the phone is picked up. If the phone is not picked up, the caller will know for certain
that their message was not delivered. One of the hindrances of calling is the chance of being
overheard. When words are said aloud, anyone within earshot could hear the conversation. This can be
a problem when the conversation is private, whether for personal or business reasons. The examples
listed here are just a few of the many advantages and disadvantages of

Stop Body Dissatisfaction Is Not A New Discovery
Stop Body Dissatisfaction Body dissatisfaction is not a new discovery. Yet, nothing is done to
counteract the emotional damages done to people, Approximately 91% of women are unhappy with
their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5% of women
naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media (11 Facts 1). The media
will continue to keep the same body style in their magazines and movie. This poses a very important
problem, how can people who deal with kids teach them that appearances are not as important as what
is in their brains? Educators and parents need to know how to help kids cope with their emotional
issues and teach them what is really important. Parents should teach kids strong morals and help them
avoid overexposure to the media while educators should teach kids how to live a healthy lifestyle. The
best way to solve a problem is to know exactly what the issue is. So what is body image? Body image
is, How individuals feel about their physical appearances (Brown University 1). Body image can be
affected by more than one media outlet. These outlets include the traditional media like magazines and
TV shows. However, new outlets have been introduced like social media, this media can be so
damaging because it is easily accessible to all types of people from ranging ages.

John Steinbeck s East of Eden
Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden
Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the
conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered
upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in
the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers
dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). Caleb and
Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are also the more loving towards their
father. Steinbeck s purpose in this is to illustrate the need of the Cain character in ... Show more

Cathy Kate combines many biblical figures as well. She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife and the
serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil too. Cathy
is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all
of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy
actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas Valley,
the setting of East of Eden. She is described as the only whore who is incapable of being a good
person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely
satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127).
John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The basis of
this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin
whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose,
Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel
found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation very
similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379).
The story is changed by Steinbeck to illustrate

Choosing Between Online and In Person Teaching Positions
Filbert College/traditional teaching position. The first question that I find to be helpful is the one about
optional summer classes. The reply is that they often do not have enough enrolled students to allow
everyone to work in the summer time. I find this helpful since I would be a new educator, and not
have that much seniority. If by chance I did want to teach summer classes, I would likely not be able
to.
The second question in the traditional college application I find to be helpful is, the one about class
size. Since the answer to this question is 150 200 students, that would have a huge impact on my
decision. I have never worked with a class of this size, and grading 200 ten page papers, would be a
pain. Not saying that I could not, but it may be difficult. The advanced classes on the other hand, are a
lot more reasonable in size.
Johnson online college questions. The question that I find helpful is again, class size. Since the class
size is around 20 30 students, this is much more reasonable, and feasible. At least for my current
teaching ability. The next question that I find to be helpful is about research. The college requires you
to continually do research, but they have funding programs for this, so that is very helpful. ... Show

TATA steel strategy was to integrate the value chain of steelmaking to aid the growth of Asia s

Similarities Between Witchcraft, Wicca, And Paganism
Introduction
The terms Witchcraft, Wicca, and Paganism are often used interchangeably. However, the terms have
very different meanings and each term has a complex history. First, I will discuss each terms brief
history and then their definitions. Finally, at the end, I will sum up my conclusions concerning the
terms similarities and differences.
Witchcraft
The history of Witchcraft is difficult to trace because it remained a hidden practice for most of its early
history. Several of the scholars I researched argued that Witchcraft never existed and was just the
product of creative imaginations. However, noted religious scholar, Mircea Eliade, argues that
evidence suggests that Witchcraft was a very ancient practice. Standard dictionary definitions define
Witches as people who practice magick. However, the definition of the word Witch has evolved over
many centuries. For example, the Anglo Saxon word Wicca or Wicce simply refers to a male or female
seer or person who can find out information by using majick. (1) In addition, both Wyeh in Saxon and
Wicce in Old English means to bend, turn or shape. (1) And finally, the Germanic root wit means ...

The word comes from the Latin term, pagus which means from the countryside. (2) Its usage was
comparable to the contemporary use of the term hick, as an individual who is backward. It also carried
a negative religious connotation because Pagans were not Christian. Therefore, the term originally
meant anyone who didn t belong to a Judeo Christian religion. However, the term evolved as societies
grew and changed. Today, the term in its broadest, meaning is someone who follows a religious path
which is polytheistic. In addition, Pagans honor the divinity of nature and don t believe that humans
have dominion over nature. Finally, Pagans acknowledge the existence of both male and female

The Man And Legend Essay
Can We Attain an Equal America? ;
Can we really achieve equality? I do believe it is possible but it is obvious that there is no single
answer to such a question. Everyone has their own opinion in regards to this question, however those
opinions are useless unless they are actually carried out. According to W.E.B. DuBois racial equality
can be achieved through the talented tenth, ; an African American elite that would be leaders and role
models for the rest of the black community. In The Future of the Race, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and
Cornel West address the topic of Dubois 1903 essay The Talented Tenth. ; When it comes to achieving

Malcolm X declares that if it is right for America to draft us and teach us how to be violent in defense
of the country, then isn t right for you and me to do whatever is necessary to defend our own people
right here in this country. ;(89) Consequently, he believed that only through revolution and force could
blacks attain their rightful place in society. In one of his speeches Malcolm X encouraged blacks to
hate whites and to revolt against them. He claims that revolution is bloody, revolution is hostile,
revolution knows no compromise, revolution overturns and destroys everything that gets in it way. ;
However, when he later broke free from the black Muslim movement began emphasizing unity and
change through black pride and respect for oneself rather than through hate and revenge. He told
blacks that if they had any chance of blacks attaining equality, then their first priority would be to gain
self respect and join together in a group effort to combat racist views. (253)
I believe that there is one main problem that hinders the idea of having a group effort to achieve
equality. That is that our minds seem to support and defend our own reasoning and actions, whether
they are right or wrong. We have to learn how to admit being wrong. I simply can t believe that people
find racism as a way of life. However, it all comes down to what you learn when you re a child.

type of firsthand experience in the job market further deflates any illusions they might have had about

exclusively summer time affair, in fact only one member is on the job market full time (Macleod p.

Fan Pathology Research Paper
According Jenson, there are two representing types of fan pathologies: obsessed loners and frenzied or

the obsessed loners type of fan. Jenson wrote the obsessed loners are individuals achieve public

Jenson wrote, these individuals are weeping teen at the airport glimpsing a rock star, or the roaring,
maniacal sports fan rioting at a soccer game (Lewis, p.12). I think this is the type of fans that people
often imagine by hearing the word fan . Within frenzied or hysterical crowd, there is two big
categories; entertainment fans and sports fans. The point of being frenzied or hysterical crowd is to
feel solidarity and to form a community outside of their everyday life. According to the ethnography
of Bruce Springsteen fans, the author quoted a meaning of being the Springsteen fan; Ruth Finnegan
(1989) has pointed out the importance of people s devotion to certain musical worlds , in which they
play in or follow a local musical group or listen to certain musical genre, as a way to shape personal
and communal identity (Cavicchi, 1998, p.4). In addition to this general explanation of music fans,
Cavicchi explained, among Springsteen fans, the idea of connection means more than just having an
affinity for Springsteen s music; it means making the music a deeply felt part of one s life, of having
an ongoing, shared relationship with Springsteen the artist (Cavicchi, p.41). Thus among of all
Springsteen fans, being a Springsteen fan means not only they like his music, but Springsteen and his

Aldi Runs And How It Maintains Its Success
Foreword
So what is good about Aldi? What is it that they do different which make them so successful? In this
report I hope to give the reader a better insight into the way Aldi runs and how it maintains its success.
I will look deeper into what Aldi could do to make them even more profitable and more successful in
terms of increasing customer footfall and spend. I will also look at what is currently done in terms of
influencing customer decisions in Aldi. I will assess the factors which underpin consumer behaviour
and evaluate the nature and type of decisions undertaken by consumers and the organisation, All of
this will be done with the aim to produce a strategy which can make Aldi more successful in terms of
increasing customer footfall and spend.
In increasingly competitive markets, consumers have better choices over where they buy their
products. For an organisation to meet its business objectives, it has to find out what consumers require
and then identify the best way in which it can satisfy these needs and wants. Creating a competitive
advantage can be difficult. A unique marketing strategy with clear objectives is vital to ensure
effective promotional activity.
Aldi s main marketing objective is to grow its market share within the UK grocery market. With the
economic crisis a couple of years ago came an increased demand for value for money. Market research

Using Online Reading Comprehension Skills
To find whether a source is credible they must develop online reading comprehension skills; these
skills are crucial because other researchers have found that children go online to clarify what they are
being taught in school. When kids are curious about something or have a question, it s always more
difficult for the teacher to get to everyone right away in class so they naturally become proactive and
find it out for themselves (Tsikalas). Kids researching and looking up information throughout the day
can make huge impacts on their learning and also improve cognition. It might be better to say that
today s children, more than ninety percent of whom will have an online history by age two, are
developing key tech friendly skills at an earlier age. By engaging kids brains in more complex tasks at
a young stage in their lives, toddlers are improving cognition, developing critical review skills, and
displaying a more advanced comprehension of both virtual and real worlds. Along with stronger
memory, better comprehension, and abstract thought, children who regularly use the internet also
show a more proactive approach to gathering information and feel an improved performance in
reading comprehension. Language fluency and vocabulary get a boost as well, and some kids even
experience a jump in IQ as high as six points. Beyond mental performance, kids and teens using the
Internet and social media demonstrate stronger social skills, better vocabularies, and greater

San Diego Naval Training Center Essay
The Naval Training Center (NTC) influenced the history of San Diego by not only bringing in money,

With the aid of another influential figure, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was the Assistant Secretary of
the Navy at the time. They put renewed effort into San Diego having a training station. Eventually, in
1918 Captain Arthur MacArthur selected a site in Point Loma. (Rughe) At this point the citizens were
able to acquire enough money to buy the 214 acres of land. Furthermore, the city deeded this land to
the Navy, and Congress approved 2 million dollars in funds for this project.
Even though Word War I postponed the construction, the bases construction was completed, and

The Bombing Of The Islamic Government Of Iran
From the recent massacres happening in Iraq and Syria, we can gather that Washington has trampled
on a path which has been seen as a way to redefine the war in Iraq, an effective scheme to bring the
command of Assad to its crumbling demises and to recalibrate an inclusive plan to collapse the
Islamic Government of Iran. Immediately coinciding with the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq, an
organized string of deadly explosions gripped Iraq, leading to the massacre of dozens of civilians.
Multiple bomb explosions happening simultaneously in Baghdad, claiming the lives of countless
innocent civilians. Another series of explosions targeted Shia Muslims killing at least 71 people. Most
of the explosions which targeted the Shia Muslims are maliciously meant to inspire the feeling and
doubt that it is a matter of sectarian violence, a plot devised by the US and its allies to justify that the
Iraqi politicians are intent to provoke a communal bloodletting which is gradually tearing the country
apart. Washington began to capitalize on tension in the country and playing the religious card on one

Red Palm Oil or Red Palm Foiled: Dr. Oz s Bold Claims Debunked
Anonymous Biology and Society Contributor
Dr. Oz, the beloved host of the popular television health show The Dr. Oz Show, has a new superfood

actually great for your health. Red palm oil is different; it lowers bad cholesterol by 40% in just one

Indeed, red palm oil will help you whittle away that frustrating belly fat. With claims like these, it is

a board game on Trump and it is known as Trump: The Game and it was released in the year 1989, but
it had to be discontinued as this game didn t became popular in terms of reviews and sales as well. The

Pryamid Research Paper
Before I red the nutrtion chapter, specifically the MyPyramid section, I never payed much attention to
the food pryamid. I was not aware as to how in depth the illistration was. I believe the pryamid is a
great outine for a healthy diet. If people need guidance as to how to lead a healthier lifestyle, the
pryamid is the perfect example. It not only explains how much of each food group you should eat, but
also explains excercising, which I believe is just as important. Although I do think the pryamid is a
good guide for people who may not know a lot about diets, I tend to eat more proteins and fruits than
reccomended. As an athlete I find I need more proteins to keep my energy level high. I also drink a lot
of water. A vegitarian is defined

Herman Melville s Bartleby The Scrivener
Wall Street is commonly regarded as a vicious battleground occupied by thousands of money hungry
individuals that wish to strike it big by climbing the corporate ladder by any means necessary. While
many win and many more lose everything as people try to succeed on Wall Street, Melville sees a
problem outside the bounds of losing and gaining money. Melville realized that an existential battle
was simultaneously taking place within the minds of these young people. In Herman Melville s
Bartleby, the Scrivener, Melville emits contempt for society and its corrupt values by creating
underdeveloped characters that lack typical characteristics of fully established individuals. With work,
money, profits, and productivity at the center of the universe, ... Show more content on

The symptoms of said illness include paleness, namelessness, and an impaired sense of right from
wrong. An incubator for lifelessness, Wall Street is capable of stripping away the elements of life that
give people a unique sense of color in their lives. One s name, family, and personal life are the first
things to go when one is infected with Wall Street s illness. The narrator has surpassed this phase and
reached the point in which his sense of conscience has begun to abandon him. Presumably, the next
phase involves the narrator losing all bodily color and physical sense of life. In Melville s eyes, Wall
Street takes a vibrant individual, infects them with the sole desire to make money, then proceeds to
strip them of the aspects that make them functional individuals in society. Through the detailed
description of Bartleby s actions and physical appearance as well as the narrator s lack of typical
personal attributes, Melville portrays his criticisms about the values fostered by Wall

The Menominee Tribe s Fight to Protect their Culture from Destruction
While the mainstream media has its attention focused on North Dakota s Standing Rock Sioux tribe in
their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline, there are many other tribes also struggling to protect
their native ancestral sites and cultural resources throughout the United States that are going
unnoticed. One such tribe is the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. This tribe is attempting to stop
Aquila Resources Back Forty Project which would create a mine alongside and under the treasured
Menominee River. This open pit gold, zinc, and copper mine would destroy burial grounds, former
raised garden beds, ancient village sites, dance rings, and more. Thus, it is clear that the Standing
Rock Sioux Tribe is not the only tribe fighting to protect its culture and environment. In fact, the only
unique thing about the Dakota Access Pipeline is the national coverage it has received (Thompson).
Therefore, in this paper, I aim to do justice to the Menominee Tribe who has not been so fortunate to
find its plights in the public s view. The Menominee Tribe s concerns have not been fully taken into
account and valued in the mining permit approval process and news coverage of their fight has been
severely lacking. This paper will support this claim by utilizing data and information from numerous
sources to include data from Aquila Resources about the Project, testimony and stories from the
Menominee Tribe, and

Essay on Greece s Golden Age Under Pericles Rule
Greece s Golden Age can be defined as a time of flourishing. There are many changes that occurred
during this time that changed Athens for the better. Athens made the important decision of splitting
itself from Sparta, who they constantly differed with. It is from this split that the Athenian Empire was
created (Hunt 80). This split illustrates the certainty that the Athenians possessed in terms of creating a
better nation. Athens developed an empire because democracy was expensive. In order for democracy
to be created, you need an empire to raise money. The Athenian empire was well known for its
excellent trading along with the arts and sciences that developed during this time. When trade
flourished, the polis grew which created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in order for this to happen the Athenian citizens were to cooperate with the system. The
assembly which was part of the Athenian government had several tasks to take care of which included:
making administrative declarations, electing individuals into official positions, creating a constitution,
and punishing those who committed crimes. The idea of how much an individual will get paid, who
can serve in public offices, and who possesses authority were all dealt with in an arbitrary fashion.
This is to give everyone an equal opportunity. People were penalized for misconduct. The laws were
to be followed strictly according to the Rule of Law. Those who served in high positions were able to
run for election as many times as they desired. They did not have a salary because it prevented them
from running for office simply to acquire money (Hunt 82). These improvements drove the Athenian
Empire towards democracy. A change from power in the hands of the archons to power in the hands of
jurymen was implemented.
The form of democracy that Pericles put into effect was not favored by everyone. This is mainly
because the people did not believe that the uneducated should have a say in any way. They thought
that the poor may use this power against the rich. There was a point in time when the Athenian
democracy experienced difficult phases and the rich blamed the poor for this misfortune. Some
believed that giving the poor power was illegitimate.

Government Regulation of the Microsoft Corporation Does the government have the right to regulate large corporations, namely the Microsoft Corporation? If so, then to what extent can the government do so? Based on our research, it is the government s responsibility to remedy Microsoft s noncompetitive behavior in order to increase fair competition. The Microsoft vs. the Government trial has many possible outcomes, which may affect a specific party. Not only does the outcome affect the Microsoft Corporation, but it also affects the rival companies and the consumer. • 3. An Integral Part Of All Modern Societies Nikolay Kolev Shakir Ghazi Humanities 2 Dec, 15, 2015 Written works have been an integral part of all modern societies. This is even more so true with the Puritans, whose life was governed by their religious principles. It is crucial to realise to what degree religion is nested inside the Puritan mindset. Their faith was not simply common ideas they shared. For them their religion was the only thing that could be important, it was the basis of their values and communal structure. For example they left on the journey to america so they could freely worship their religion and to show the rest of the world the moral high ground it represented. This was because of the definite way their faith was structured. They believed in the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a couple of main themes a sermon could have. It could be preaching to the people who do not share their beliefs with the Puritans. Such a sermon would describe the danger in which nonbelievers are while urging them to rethink their way of life and understand that fleeing to christ is their only salvation. An example of such a sermon would be Sinners in the hand of an angry god . Its structure is simple and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William Shakespeare s Globe Theatre Essay Shakespeare s Globe Theatre The Globe Theater, an entertainment outlet for all people of that time, provided a place for Shakespeare s plays to be performed. It was the third and most famous playhouse in London. When it was built, it was one of the most important playhouses in London. The Globe s architecture was intriguing for its time and its life was long and prosperous. The Globe was built by two brothers, Cuthbert and Richard Burbage. They had inherited the Globe s predecessor, The Theatre, from their father, James Burbage (Williams 365). Fearing their lease would run out, the brothers dismantled it and carried the materials to Bankside, where the Swan and Rose already stood (Britanica). It was built ... One night before a planned revolt, The Chamberlain s company was asked to perform Richard II in order to instill mutinous thoughts in the audience. (Westerhof) The admission to the Globe was one shilling to the boxes. Lee stated that the general admission was one penny, and a stool on the stage was sixpence. Posters, or bills, were placed throughout London on rails and posts. John Northbrooke said in 1579, They used to set up their bills upon posts some certain days before to admonish people to make resort to their theatres. The Globe was thought to have gotten its name from the sign representing Hercules or Atlas carrying the globe with the motto, All the World s a Stage. Interestingly, these emulations were conducted on ARM Cortex A7, which is a low end processor. Low end here specifically means that ARM Cortex A7 has lower performance in terms of DMIPS/MHz compared to performance of Freescale MPC8270 used in processor module of ABB AC 800M. This instinctively implies that these emulations can be potentially considered for integrating legacy applications built for ABB AC 450 using Motorola 68040 into modern ABB AC 800M based on a high end processor MPC8270. These results are also significant because emulators were open source under GPL licenses; this means that there was no extra cost involved for commercial licenses. To calculate time taken by a dhrystone fundamental function, dhrystone uses standard times(2) function by default. However, times(2) provides time values in terms of processor clocks consumed. To have this value in seconds dhrystone also requires specification of clock rate used by a processor. Therefore, it is a convention to provide dhrystone score with a clock rate. Alaska Is A Great Wealth Of Resources Essay Alaska is home to a great wealth of resources, including but not limited to, various types of valuable minerals, a large and populous variety of wildlife which provide furs, and large deposits of natural gas. The surrounding ocean provides it s bounty as well. A thriving fishing and crabbing community makes its home along the various cities along the coast of Alaska. Without these natural resources, Alaska would have a failing economy in which the local government would fail to function due to the lack of revenue. Alaska is the largest state in the entire United States of America, and has one of the largest economies. Despite this fact, it is also one of the least populated. This is perhaps due to the harsh, cold climate, the likes of which are not seen in the rest of the continental United States. Even from the beginning of the novel, it is stated multiple times that Yossarian presumes that people are intentionally trying to harm or kill him. From an outside point of view, it may seem quite ridiculous, but given the circumstances and stress he is put under, it is obvious why he feels this way. An example of a stressful situation in which Yossarian reacts with his fear is the line, The crawlway was Yossarian s lifeline to outside from a plane about to fall, but Yossarian swore at it with seething antagonism, reviled it as an obstacle put there by providence as part of the plot that would destroy him. There are many advantages and disadvantages to these modern communication methods. Phone calls can help both communicators to better understand the conversation, but can be very public to people standing nearby. On the other hand, texting is more discreet in public, but texts can make it harder to decipher the meaning behind the words. Where one option lacks, the other provides for your needs, and vice versa. Texts have many advantages, as well as disadvantages. Some of the benefits of calling include being more suitable for long conversations, as well as making sure the other person receives the message. Calling is more appropriate for long or complex conversations because lengthy and complicated ideas are not as easy to convey with typed words. Conversation can better move around the topic, and be better explained, when spoken words are used to get the ideas across. Furthermore, when a telephone call is made, it can be ensured that the intended person is the one to receive the message. This does not always work with texting. No texted reply from the other person could either mean that they didn t receive the information, or that they simply didn t feel the need to respond. When calling, the caller will know that the answerer received the message once the phone is picked up. If the phone is not picked up, the caller will know for certain that their message was not delivered. One of the hindrances of calling is the chance of being overheard. When words are said aloud, anyone within earshot could hear the conversation. This can be a problem when the conversation is private, whether for personal or business reasons. • 21. John Steinbeck s East of Eden Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife and the serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil too. Cathy is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas Valley, the setting of East of Eden. She is described as the only whore who is incapable of being a good person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127). John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The basis of this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation very similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379). The first question that I find to be helpful is the one about optional summer classes. The reply is that they often do not have enough enrolled students to allow everyone to work in the summer time. I find this helpful since I would be a new educator, and not have that much seniority. If by chance I did want to teach summer classes, I would likely not be able to. The second question in the traditional college application I find to be helpful is, the one about class size. However, the terms have very different meanings and each term has a complex history. First, I will discuss each terms brief history and then their definitions. Finally, at the end, I will sum up my conclusions concerning the terms similarities and differences. Witchcraft The history of Witchcraft is difficult to trace because it remained a hidden practice for most of its early history. Several of the scholars I researched argued that Witchcraft never existed and was just the product of creative imaginations. However, noted religious scholar, Mircea Eliade, argues that evidence suggests that Witchcraft was a very ancient practice. Standard dictionary definitions define Witches as people who practice magick. However, the definition of the word Witch has evolved over many centuries. For example, the Anglo Saxon word Wicca or Wicce simply refers to a male or female seer or person who can find out information by using majick. The point of being frenzied or hysterical crowd is to feel solidarity and to form a community outside of their everyday life. Indeed, red palm oil will help you whittle away that frustrating belly fat. With claims like these, it is no wonder Dr. Oz believes that red palm oil will be the most popular new product in America. Sound too good to be true? Unfortunately, Dr. Oz s bold claims extolling the virtues of red palm oil do not have enough solid scientific evidence to back them and are riddled with rhetoric designed to persuade you to buy this pseudoscientific product (Health Benefits Of Red Organic Palm Oil For the body). To advertise red palm oil to his consumer audience, Dr. Oz employs arguments and persuasive devices with the intent to mislead. One such technique was the use of slanted phrases, or using language that carries emotional charge or bias to leads the audience to take a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was not aware as to how in depth the illistration was. I believe the pryamid is a great outine for a healthy diet. If people need guidance as to how to lead a healthier lifestyle, the pryamid is the perfect example. • 42. The Menominee Tribe s Fight For Their Culture From... The Menominee Tribe s Fight to Protect their Culture from Destruction While the mainstream media has its attention focused on North Dakota s Standing Rock Sioux tribe in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline, there are many other tribes also struggling to protect their native ancestral sites and cultural resources throughout the United States that are going unnoticed. One such tribe is the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. This tribe is attempting to stop Aquila Resources Back Forty Project which would create a mine alongside and under the treasured Menominee River. This open pit gold, zinc, and copper mine would destroy burial grounds, former raised garden beds, ancient village sites, dance rings, and more. Thus, it is clear that the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is not the only tribe fighting to protect its culture and environment. In fact, the only unique thing about the Dakota Access Pipeline is the national coverage it has received (Thompson). Therefore, in this paper, I aim to do justice to the Menominee Tribe who has not been so fortunate to find its plights in the public s view. The Menominee Tribe s concerns have not been fully taken into account and valued in the mining permit approval process and news coverage of their fight has been severely lacking. This paper will support this claim by utilizing data and information from numerous sources to include data from Aquila Resources about the Project, testimony and stories from the Menominee Tribe, and ... • 43. Essay on Greece s Golden Age Under Pericles Rule Greece s Golden Age can be defined as a time of flourishing. There are many changes that occurred during this time that changed Athens for the better. Athens made the important decision of splitting itself from Sparta, who they constantly differed with. It is from this split that the Athenian Empire was created (Hunt 80). This split illustrates the certainty that the Athenians possessed in terms of creating a better nation. Athens developed an empire because democracy was expensive. In order for democracy to be created, you need an empire to raise money. The Athenian empire was well known for its excellent trading along with the arts and sciences that developed during this time. When trade flourished, the polis grew which created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in order for this to happen the Athenian citizens were to cooperate with the system. The assembly which was part of the Athenian government had several tasks to take care of which included: making administrative declarations, electing individuals into official positions, creating a constitution, and punishing those who committed crimes. The idea of how much an individual will get paid, who can serve in public offices, and who possesses authority were all dealt with in an arbitrary fashion. This is to give everyone an equal opportunity. People were penalized for misconduct. The laws were to be followed strictly according to the Rule of Law. Those who served in high positions were able to run for election as many times as they desired. They did not have a salary because it prevented them from running for office simply to acquire money (Hunt 82). These improvements drove the Athenian Empire towards democracy. A change from power in the hands of the archons to power in the hands of jurymen was implemented. The form of democracy that Pericles put into effect was not favored by everyone. This is mainly because the people did not believe that the uneducated should have a say in any way. They thought that the poor may use this power against the rich. There was a point in time when the Athenian democracy experienced difficult phases and the rich blamed the poor for this misfortune. Some believed that giving the poor power was illegitimate. ...
