The Pros And Cons Of Fingerprint Authentication
In 1997, President William J. Clinton, as cited by Woodward (2003), states that having right to
privacy is one of the most cherished freedoms by individuals. However, most of the consumers
today just cares about the convenience brought by technology. Many consumers do not like
passwords and PINs because it might be forgotten due to its complexity or it might took a lot of
time to be authenticated. Fingerprintauthenticationwas implemented to address these problems.
Vacca (2007) remarks that consumers will use fingerprint authentication because of its convenience
(p. 121). Although finger scan technology provides the convenience, which consumers always
wanted, without sacrificing security, this technology infringes their privacy at the same time.
Individuals lose their anonymity when they disclose their biometric information. Woodward (1997)
states that the individual is disclosing an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Vacca (2007), fingerprint authentication is trusted for e commerce since most of the
Internet users are uncomfortable of disclosing their credit card information online (p. 123). Some
businesses and companies are starting to integrate fingerprint scanning into their products and
systems. Potter (2015) states that Royal Bank of Scotland would enable fingerprint authentication
on its mobile banking apps. Mobile banking users would be able to access their accounts instantly
by tapping their finger on the fingerprint sensor. According to Wielch (2014), Apple s new payment
method called Apple Pay allows consumers to transact securely without taking their credit card out.
Furthermore, Wielch (2014) states that a consumer simply holds their phone near the payment
terminals and places their finger on the Touch ID to authorize the transaction. Sustar (2014) affirms
that Apple Pay is being integrated by leading retailers, banks and credit card companies into their

Battle Of San Jacinto Case Study
Strategic Setting Depending on the perspective, the strategic factors of the Battle of San Jacinto
were either to re align Texas with the Mexican government, as it had pulled away in rebellion due
to Anglo interference from the U.S. (Pedro, 1921). A second perspective of the strategic factor of
the Battle of San Jacinto had to do with Texans, in particular Anglo Texans from the Southern U.S.,
wanting to extend the influence of slavery over the region, intentionally flaunting and ignoring
Mexicos anti slavery polices (Tindall and Shi, 2013). A third perspective, offered by Anderson and
Wooster (2016) is that strategically the Battle of San Jacinto was the result of tyrannical oversight
and behaviors by Santa Anna and the Mexican government over Texas. It should be noted that the
strategic factors listed are over arching causes of the Mexico Texas War for Independence, which

Pursuit Of Happyness Sociology
The film The Pursuit of Happyness is a biography based on the life of Chris Gardner, who is
played by the actor Will Smith. Will Smith portrays a hardworking father who is struggling to
sale bone density scanners to the local hospitals, while trying to make ends meet for his family.
After his wife leaves, he is left to raise his 5 year old son Christopher alone. Making it clear to
those around him, it is obvious that he is among the working poor class and cannot meet the
basic human needs (absolute), he can barely pay bills to keep his home, can hardly provide food,
and has a rough time being able to keep his son in daycare. Being a part of the working poor class

handed it back to him leaving Jay speechless. That particular scene demonstrated why people
should not judge a book by its cover. During the entire film Dean Witter could not stress enough
the importance of how tough the process would be in order to work for his company, even if
someone got a perfect score on the exam their chances of being hired was still very slim. Chris
exceeds those expectations and is later given the job. The film The Pursuit of Happyness told a story
of a true American Hero. Chris Gardner should be an inspiration to those who have been faced
with the same situations. All those sleepless nights trying to think of ways to make money, then
moving from one homeless shelter to the next, and having to face his son everyday hoping that
one day he would understand, is something no one in our society should have to go through in
order to live in a world that is based off power and greed. Chris Gardner was an underrated African
American who lived an underprivileged proletariat

Lying, By Jeremy Bentham
I am going to argue why lying is immoral no matter who you might be lying to, friends, family,
and even someone you do not know. This is immoral because even though lying to someone may
bring relief or happiness it s still hiding the truth from that person. Hiding something they deserve
to know even though it may hurt them may also be a form of lying. There are many situations
where lying may end friendships, relationships, or even tare families apart because most people
want to know the truth no matter how harsh, because eventually the truth may come out. In
addition to hiding information, there are also other forms of lying. Telling someone false
information as well as withholding information are forms of lying. The worst part about telling a
lie is that the more you do it the more comfortable one may become. Lying becomes a habit to
many people, a habit they have a hard time breaking. Lying can simply be defined in one word,
deception. Jeremy Bentham who is a British philosopher in the 1700 s and early 1800 s believed in
the principle of utility otherwise known as utilitarianism. Jeremy Bentham thinks it s permissible to
tell a small lie because in the long run Bentham is looking for the ultimate amount of happiness.
Bentham believes in the greatest happiness for the greatest number. As long as an act brings more
happiness than disappointment then that act is moral. One situation may be three friends found out
something that their other friend does not know but can

Sacrifice In Joan Aiken s Third Wish
Why would someone sacrifice their faith? In the Third Wish by Joan Aiken Mr.Peter has to take
a lot of faith to make other people happy, he sacrificed a lot but he still makes people happy, which
is not always easy. Mr. Peter drove his car, then found a swan . He got three wishes in the forest his
first wishthat the swan gave him a wife. The second wish that he used to find his wife s sister. He
did not want to use his third wish and he lived a very happy life. The Third wish by Joan Aiken
shows us the face and sacrifice can lead us to happiness or unhappiness.
I first saw the theme in the Third Wish when Mr. Peter goes out helps to swan. First, when Mr.
Peters gets out of his car and goes and helps this swan. First,

Hidden Time Capsule Analysis
In this assignment, I am a cultural anthropologist searching for a hidden time capsule from both
the Renaissance Age and the Age of Baroque. In each capsule it is rumored that there are at least
two examples of each of the following items locked inside: Art, Music, Descriptions of drawings or
architecture, Philosophy, and Literature. The period after the Middle Agesis known as the
Renaissancein Europe. This era ushered in a sense of cultural renewal with a focus on classical
learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome. During the time of the Renaissance, politics were
relatively stable and there was a sense of expanding prosperity. Because of this, the development of
new technologies such as printing presses, a new system of astronomy and an influx of newly
discovered lands. Additionally, philosophy, literature, and art were also becoming synonymous with
the Renaissance era. The style of painting, sculpture and decorative arts identified with the
Renaissance emerged in Italyin the late 14th century; it reached its zenith in the late 15th and early
16th centuries, in the work of Italian masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael

revival of Classical Rome was as important in architecture as it was in literature. During the

Command Of The Air Force
Lt Gen Bruce Litchfield, Commander of the Air Force Sustainment Center states that, Our ability
to provide cost effective readiness will determine the size of our Air Force and that (t)he size of
our Air Force will determine our ability to fight and win the next war. (O Brien, 2014) The
automatic and significant reductions to the Department of Defense s budget, known as
Sequestration as triggered by the Budget Control Act of 2011, has forced the US Air Force to re
engineer how it performs weaponssystem sustainment and reimagine how it will sustain weapons
systems in the future, particularly with regard to new weapons system acquisitions. The Air Force

History has shown that weapons systems that have a 30 year life cycle or longer, incur
approximately 60 80% of the cost associated with the platform in the operations and sustainment
phase of the system s life cycle. (Figure 2) Therefore, in order to maximize recapitalization and
modernization efforts, the Air Force must consider the extensive myriad of types of logistics
support required to field, operate, employ, and sustain a new weapon system in the post
Sequestration environment. Moreover, the Air Force must effectively balance DoD directives for
joint service interoperability, industry s desires to maximize profits, and the reality of
Congressional politics in an effort to optimize scarce program dollars in particular the effort to
make possible the most efficient use sustainment dollars.
Background
In recent years the acquisition community has changed its weapons system sustainment
nomenclature from acquisition logistics to life cycle logistics and, to its most current iteration,
product support. As noted by the Defense Acquisition Guidebook, Performance Based Logistics
(PBL) is the preferred Department of Defense product support strategy to improve weapon system
readiness by procuring performance, which capitalizes on integrated logistics chains and public
/private partnerships. (Defense Acquisition University, 2005) Performance Based Logistics (also

Erich Fromm s Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral...
Erich Fromm s Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem In Disobedience as a
Psychological and Moral Problem, Erich Fromm (1963) argues that society will self destruct
without achieving freedom through disobedience. Fromm begins with analogies of Hebrew and
Greek mythology showing how disobedience to a god freed humans. Using this correlation, Fromm
shows freedom as a condition for disobedience, and vice versa. Therefore, Fromm proclaims that
without disobedience the human race could destroy itself within a generation. Fromm s article, first
published in 1963, stems from fear of a third world war. Despite the outdated comment by Behrens
and Rosen in the introduction, the article still applies to suggestion human... Show more content on

Fromm relates this to the fetus in the womb and to cutting the umbilical cord to become fully
human. In both situations, Fromm believes the disobedience in both situation results in
freedom. The Adam and Eve analogy holds true only to creationists, not to evolutionists.
Atheists, agnostics, and other religions simply reject the Garden of Eden story. For these
people, the process of becoming fully human resulted in evolution over thousands of years.
However, if the analogy is true for the fetus, one must assume the mother demands the baby to
stay in the womb, not to enter the new world. Yet the purpose of procreation is to bring a new
child into this world. Birth is a natural process, not a medical procedure, thus cannot be forever
prolonged (Childbirth.org). How often is it mothers are disappointed pregnancy did not last
longer? Most mothers become ecstatic when pregnancy is over and she can enjoy God s
creation. Fromm (1963) uses the analogy in his essay to suggest the baby disobeys God.
However, once conception occurs, the mother has only one choice under God s law giving birth.
A few examples of God s will are in 1 Timothy 2:15, women will be saved through childbearing, and
how Exodus 21:22 23 mentions morally wrong abortion. With thousands of biblical examples, it
should be hard for a religious scholar to suggest a baby disobeys God s will by leaving its mothers
womb. Disobeying God can

Picasso At The Lapin Agile Essay
Picasso at the Lapin Agile
From the time you enter the Falk Theatre, until the curtain rises and falls on the production of
Picasso at the Lapin Agile, you are in for a treat. The play is an original work by Steve Martin with
a running time of 90minutes, which feels more like 30minutes. Aside from the uncomfortable
seating, this production is nothing short of wonderful. The Theatre has been transformed from a
long movie Theater atmosphere to a quaint surrounding by means of risers that are placed directly
on the stage. The new seating divides the old Theater in half and allows for the actors and the
audience to share the same space. Not only this atmosphere that makes it wonderful but also the
performances, the direction, the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the set design, we first see the use of layering, with a large cyclorama that has been painted
onto a piece of scrim to allow for a visual effect at the end of the play. The painting depicts a
beautiful scene of sheep in a meadow in the fog , with a wall to represent the interior of the Lapin
Agile containing a painting of sheep in a meadow in the fog . On each side of this backdrop are
doors: the entrance to the bar and the other the to the bathroom. The emphasis on details can be
noticed in the set with the signs that are posted on either side of the bathroom door, which swings
freely when pushed. The door has a board on it the says OUI and when it is flung in the opposite
direction it too says OUI a creative and pun intended wee wee . This is a subtlety in the stage
design that brings the humor away from the actual text and into an unusual place, the set. Little
things like these accentuate my appreciation of the production as a whole.
The lighting is also something that was exceptionally well done. The designers used a large amount
of light with soft yellow and orange tones to give an overall feeling of warmth to the setting. The
day moves from morning to night with the most drastic change at nightfall where the tones switch
to blues and the star light shine across the cyclorama.
It is perhaps the blocking from the director and the skills of the actors though that makes this
performance so wonderful. The technique of layering was used by both in how

Film Noir In Alfred Hitchcock s Film Vertigo
Here I was born, and there I died. It was only a moment for you; you took no notice, says
Madeleine, played by Kim Novak, as she foreshadows the mysterious events which take place in
Vertigo. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Vertigo qualifies as a film noir because it contains a femme
fatale, a pessimistic romance, and is filmed by an immigrant director. Many filmnoirs contain a
femme fatale, and Vertigo is no different. Madeleine and Judy, both played by Kim Novak, are
definitely femme fatales. A femme fatale is a mysterious, two faced, deceitful, manipulative, and
overall beautiful woman. Both characters portray that definition perfectly. For example, they are
literally two faced, being that Madeleine and Judy are played by the same actress.... Show more

Alfred Hitchcock, the great master of suspense, came from England. He travelled to the United
States with his family to create better and greater films that could be even more successful than
they were in England. Hitchcock loved a suspenseful and dark film, which caused him to create
some of the greatest films of all time such as Psycho, The Birds, and North By Northwest. His
film Vertigo displays all of these aspects, causing the film to be a perfect example of the
Hitchcockian style. This style came from when Hitchcock was a child in England, where his parents
would punish him harshly whenever he was behaving badly. Not only that, but at his British
Catholic school, he would be harshly punished, but he set the time for when he felt he should get
his punishment that week. The way he was raised in another country was completely unique and
new to American film, causing his film noir Vertigo to contain many of the features he is known for
today. Being an immigrant, Alfred Hitchcock brought new unique factors to the American film noir.
Overall, just by coming from another country and adding his foreign touch, Hitchcock s film,
Vertigo qualifies as a film

Compare And Contrast Bbkar And Babasaheb Ambedkar
When we talked about the famous Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi will be the first person that
comes to most people mind. However, there are other many leaders that also played the
important roles in reforming India. One of them is Babasaheb Ambedkar. If I have to compare
both of them with the warlord, I would say that Gandhi is like the warlord who fight peacefully
for the country liberation, while Babasaheb Ambedkar is like the warlord who fight for equality
and justice in the country. To be honest, it is very shameful that I have never known Ambedkar
before. Since after I have read his biography and what he had done, he suddenly became one of
my idols. Bhimrao or Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in central India.

Ambedkar saw untouchability as the additional product of caste system, and believed that there
could not be any uplift or relief from untouchability if there were not the abolition of caste.
Moreover, Ambedkar believed that the caste system was actually a division of labourers which
simply meant that the caste system is the basis of assigning occupations. This caused a stagnant
economy in communities because the system did not allow people to have other professional
skills and entered other professions outside the caste group. He said that fixity of occupations
hindered the growth and development of the Indian economy and the society. In his thought, people
should do the work that is best suited to them to gain the most efficient or else this would lead to
immobility of both labour and capital. It could be said that Ambedkar was a challenge to Hinduism.
By contrast, Gandhi was a devoted Hindu. He thought that the responsibility of eliminating
untouchability should depend on the upper caste. Gandhi goal was not to annihilate the

Essay Comparing The Pearl And Huckleberry Finn
Once someone can be extracted out of their society and placed into a world that is new and
uncertain, the time arrives when they find out who they are going to become. For the characters,
their life began the moment that they were pushed out of their comfort zone into a world that was
fully part of the wilderness. The wilderness is the place where all the characters escape the
rigorous rules and regulations of the society in which they were created to protect. For Hester and
Pearl, the wilderness, especially the forest is the place where the truth is set free and their sin is
just a measly letter A. For Huck and Jim, the same outcome happens in the wilderness; Huck finds
out the worth of Jim. Throughout both novels, it is evident that the wilderness represents a place of

In the wilderness, Hester, Pearl, Huck, and Jim were respected and recognized as human beings

Bob Dylan, was becoming an increasingly popular musician. Despite Dylan s goal to become a
famous rock n roll star, he soon became known as a folk singer. Most of his influences were from
country, folk, and rhythm and blues. One of his biggest role models was folk musician Woody
Guthrie Bob even adopted Guthrie s Okie accent. That was the tradition of folk music borrowing
from other artists. Dylan

Columbia Records offered Dylan a contract, and in March of 1962, he released his first album,
Bob Dylan, and his second, The Freewheelin Bob Dylan, in 1963. It was around this time that
Bob started writing his protest songs (also called finger pointing songs sincere expressions of
frustration towards leaders who opposed change13), in response to the beginning of the civil rights
movement. There are several catalysts that led up to the civil rights movement. The integration of
major league baseball in 1947 and Truman s proposal to integrate the armed forces were both
pawns in starting the movement. Also, the integration of schools in 1954 was a major event in

Regardless of intention, plagiarism is considered as academic dishonesty, thus penalties are still
applied. Plagiarism is not just limited to taking information from resources without citations.
According to Theresa Ireton, an assistant professor of writing in Centralia College, Washington,
there are also subcategories of plagiarism in writing, such as plagiarism of structure, authorship,
and plagiarism of self [4]. It is considered a plagiarism of structure when an imitator is
paraphrasing by having different word choices than the original content. Plagiarism of authorship
constitutes buying and turning in duplicate copy of another person s work without any
modifications whatsoever. Plagiarism of self is when an individual tries to utilize previously
completed work as a resubmission for a different assignment. Even though the previous assignment
is fully original content from an individual, it still constitutes as cheating due to an unfair
advantage. The use of images, videos, and music in content without receiving permission or
providing appropriate citation is also considered plagiarism. These activities include copying
images from websites and pasting them in papers or websites, making videos while using
copyrighted music as part of the sound track, and performing a cover of another person s music.

Theme Of The Poem Piano And Drums
Cultural dichotomy in Okara s Piano and Drums
Gabriel Okara is the first renowned English language black African poet and the first African
modernist writer. He was born on 1921 in Nigeria, and studied at Government College Umuahia,
where he was exposed to European writers and were deeply inspired by them. His most famous
poem Piano and Drums deals with the cultural dichotomy of traditional and Western cultures in post
colonial Africa, but the raw emotion of the poem makes it an expression of confusion that anyone
tied to more than one culture can relate to. The European civilization was introduced in Africa after
the arrival of the former in the 16th century. Most of the native Africans stuck to their traditions,

European cultures after they were colonized by the latter. It introduced in them some new ways of
living and so the native people were perplexed whether to adopt the newly introduced culture or to
follow the traditional life style. The use of the technical terms coaxing diminuendo, counterpoint,
crescendo, definitely adds more confusion in the present state.
But lost in the Labyrinth Of its complexities, it ends in the middle of a phrase at a dagger point.
Although the newly introduced culture represented by piano may be refined and seductive but the
real, connection is found only in the old culture and the beating of the drums. Therefore, this state
of perplexities creates a labyrinth and its complexities reach a point where it stops abruptly, lost in
itself. The state of disorder ends in a phrase (state of mind which makes sense but not complete
sense), cultures are many their own culture, cultures introduced by foreign but the real connection
is lost. The word dagger point further intensifies the fear and the undercurrent of the gradual lost of
the native culture after the mingling of the foreign one.

The Poetry Of Catullus
A less dictionary like definition of poetry is, putting the best words in the best possible order. The
poet may astutely choose words possibly with a double meaning in order to indirectly convey a
message, evoke emotions, or to slander. Then, the poet may unconventionally place such words
and phrases perhaps out of expected order for the sake of creating a wordpicture, emphasizing the
speaker s feelings, or offering tangibility to the poem. By incorporating this idea onto works, the
poet will have auspiciously written a superb poem. This theory may be applied to a few of
Catullus s poems specifically Carmen 5 , Carmen 8 , and Carmen 85 . The meticulous choice of
words and arrangement highlight the central focus of the poem, obliquely criticize traditional
Roman law, manipulate the audience s attitude, transmit the speaker s emotions, paint word
pictures, and offer symbolic meaning consequently producing a successful poem. For starters,
Carmen 5 is an amorous poem Catullus wrote directed at his forbidden lover, Lesbia. Catullus
insists they should disregard the rumors of old men, because while the sun is able to return, they
only have one life to seize. Therefore, Catullus demands hundreds and thousands of kisses in a
jumbled up manner from Lesbia, so their ardent passion cannot ever be cursed. The strategic
placement of the words let us live and let us loveliterally place Lesbia as the central focus of the
work. In the original Latin text, the opening line

Jake Ruzic Poem
Poetry Across the Ages, Jake Ruzic
Death is not a foe, but an inevitable adventure. These words expressed by Oliver Lodge perfectly
encompasses the idea that although death is imminent, the adventure of life is what to cherish.
Death is an issue every person will have to face at some point in their life, no matter how hard
you try to avoid it or how impossible it seems. The coming of death may seem unfair or unjust
particularly to loose someone prematurely or the death of one s child. However, the person will
live on forever through memory s or even through written word such as a poem.

Fleet Tracking Essay
X Fleet Tracking Tips To Increase Efficiency Profit
Fuel, maintenance and repair, and insurance costs are all expenses every fleet incurs. The fleet that
manages these costs the most efficiently has a competitive advantage, and will enjoy greater
earnings. Following are three fleet tracking tips to increase efficiency and profit.
Fuel
Fuel is the largest operating expense for fleets. Taking tight control of this expense can bring about
significant economic benefits. GPS tracking systems offer huge advantages to fleet managers
because they make fuel purchases, and use, transparent. Managers are able to view when and
where fuel purchases or made, and by whom. They can view reports that systematically display
cost per mile, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The optimized route details the most efficient, and cost effective course, and deviations from that
itinerary, generally reduce the profit of the load. Fleet management software can include the
preferred fuel stops into the route. Using complex algorithms, the program calculates how far off
the route the fuel stop is, while weighing in the cost of the fuel at that station. Refueling stops, that
reflect the least route departure, at the maximum cost savings, are part of the planned route the
driver will follow. This eliminates many of the deadhead miles that result in reaching an off course
refueling station.
Driving Performance
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that driver impact on fuel efficiency is, as
much as, 33%. GPS fleet management systems monitor driving behavior that waste fuel, such as
hard acceleration, excessive use of air conditioning, hard breaking, idling, and driving at
inconsistent speeds. These behaviors often improve when drivers become aware that they are being
monitored, however, fleet managers can trigger alerts for driving actions that are both unsafe, and
wasteful of fuel.
Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Maintenance and repair are the second largest operational expenses for fleets. Professionals
advocate that a rigorous regimen of preventative maintenance is essential for efficient and profitable
fleet management. Not only does preventative

Gryffindor House all have a similar sense of morality, bravery, courage, and determination, in which

that represent Gryffindor have high moral standards and a natural instinct to always do the right

The Role Of Native Americans In Colonial America
During the early colonial period in America, new American settlers did not get along well with the
Natives. The Native people gave the American people many problems when they came to settle in
the New World. Most of these problems included the Natives capturing Americans and keeping
them as hostages during the wars. Depending on the reasons why these Americans were captured
and who captured them, depended on what kind of experience these Americans would have during
their captivity. The Americans experiences would also depend on what gender they were and that
would determine how they were treated and what role they would play in the tribe. During the early
colonial time, there were two important American settlers named Mary Rowlandson and... Show

After her capture, she was used as a slave for a chief named Weetamoo. While she was a slave
for Weetamoo, she had many horrible experiences with him and his tribe. These experiences
were due to her gender role as a woman. The natives treated woman with little to no respect,
usually denying them food and shelter, like in Mary Rowlandson s case. Because Mary had all
these bad experiences with the Natives, she began to call them savages and tell how awful they
treated her all because she was a woman. Like Mary Rowlandson, James Smith was captured
during a war between the Natives and Americans. James Smith was a part of a wagon trail
building team along with three hundred plus men. The wagon trails him and the other men were
building, were used for them to travel to their American tribes during the wars to trade and have
shelter. While James was going through the trails to check on some of the group members, he
was captured by Natives. Like Mary Rowlandson again, he was one of the only ones on the trail
building team to survive as a hostage. James Smith was very lucky to be spared, because Natives
thought that white men should be sacrificed and die when they are captured. James s life was only
spared because he made it back to their tribe without lagging behind. This meant a great amount to
the Natives, therefore, they made James into their own and initiated him into their tribe with what

When finding his daughter, he went directly to the basement of his home (Rolling Stone). This

though he had been ordered to leave everything as he found it (Rolling Stone). This destroyed
physical evidence. Besides this, John was alone when he discovered the crime scene, so there is
nobody else to confirm or deny what happened upon finding her. Local police found no sign of
forced entry, further pointing blame towards someone who was already in the home

demanded for ransom was $118,000. That is a strange amount to ask for, especially seeing as it
was the exact amount John received for a Christmas bonus (Statement Analysis). Why would a
killer have that number on their mind while writing a ransom note? The note also gives the

1984 Is A Dystopia
It seems as though every time a society attempts to create a utopia, it has the opposite effect. 1984
is an example of an attempt at a utopian society that results in a place that is definitely not perfect.
In most instances, a dystopia will be created when trying to make a utopia (Hough). There are
multiple reasons as to why a utopiacannot work. Some of these reasons include resources and
people in the society. George Orwell s 1984, along with past governments, show that a utopia can
never be truly created and that it will always turn into a dystopia.
One reason why a perfect society can never be made is due to the fact that even though it might be
set up perfectly, we cannot change the fact that people are imperfect. Any bit of imperfection is all
it takes to cause something to turn from perfect to imperfect. One writer said about utopian
societies, Even with such optimism, the flawed individual is still inserted into otherwise improved
societies (Hough 1). This quote explains how the society in general is improved, but the people are
not. Governments have tried to change the way people think to create perfect humans. People are
influenced to think exactly how the government wants them to, and teaches them from a young age
to love the Party and the government in which they live. Their right to make their own assessment
is being taken away. It is true that governments are often successful in brainwashing the majority of
the population; however, they can never control

Carl Jung offers a more accurate explanation of the human psychological experience. Whereas
his early ideas are similar to Sigmund Freud, he quickly strayed away in multiple, key areas. Both
Jung and Freud s theories divide the mind into three unique parts; however, Jung s explanation of
the unconscious mind is less narrow sighted and provides a description, archetypes, that account
for the universality of many common mental issues. Conversely, Freud believed that every
individual was on his or her own as he or she moved through the five stages of being and that
those five stages determined the rest of your life. Freud s theory puts everyone on their separate

Postmodernism And Its Influence On Modern Society
Postmodernism is a complex term that has tried to be describes by many different theorist in
many different ways. Some say that it is so hard to define because it is an idea that emerges
across and variety of disciplines. In its most basic form Postmodernism can be describes at
departure from modernism and is characterized by the self conscious use of earlier styles and
conventions, a mixing of different artistic styles and media, and a general distrust of theories
(Oxford Dictionary, 2010). So with this definition in mind we must look at modernismand the
movement away from this to postmodernism. We will also look at the characteristic of
postmodernism and how it is represented in the media culture.
The phrase postmodernism was used to depict a style in architecture in the early 1960 s, this style
used components from the past architectural styles and combined them to create buildings. This
term was coined and used by cultural and political theorist to express contemporary Western and
global society, two of theorists which will be discussed is Fredric Jameson and Linda Hitcheon who
have apposing views on the theory.
Fredric Jameson is an American literary critic and Marxist political theorist. Jameson argues that a
shift in the economic society began in the late 1960 s, and that the world is moving into a phase
he calls late capitalism. Jameson view is that there is a link between the economic changes that has

because of his environment, his strong opinions began to fade tremendously. He experienced things

predominately gay area, and even speaking with some gay veterans. He was extremely
uncomfortable in almost all of these situations, and at one point considered homosexualityto be an
equal sin compared to murder. But later on he comes to the realization that contradicts his beliefs

Machine-to-Machine Technology and Analytics
Introduction
On the horizon of big data, is an ecosystem of solutions that uses embedded devices to facilitate
real time analysis of events and data among the Internet of Things . Machine to Machine
technology and analytics is the promising future of the big data era. Its exponential growth and
advancement promises a plethora of solutions and new ideas, but as with all innovations, it will
also create a wave of new issues, problems and complications that, given its scale, magnitude and
speed of development will certainly challenge as much as it benefits the legal industry.
What is M2M IoT?
Machine to Machine (M2M) is a broad label that can be used to describe any technology that enables
networked devices to exchange information and perform actions without the manual assistance of
humans. Products built with M2M communication capabilities are often marketed to end users as
being smart . The interconnection between smart objects and the way we interact in the
environment is described as the Internet of Things.
How does it work?
Sensors (which are devices with processor, memory, storage, inputs and outputs, OS and software
capabilities that gather and/or disseminate data on just about anything ), are attached to objects,
and the objects identities, state or state of surroundings become capable of being relayed to an
Internet connected IT structure. The sensors relay data to the outside world through local area and

Governesses Represented An Unusual Social Class Essay
Governesses represented an unusual social class in Victorian culture. They were often women
belonging to the middle class, however, they had a central role in the upbringing of upper class
children and the construction of Victorian education and ideals. Despite their significance within
the homes of wealthy families, many governesses were treated with suspicion and fear. This
paper, however, seeks to analyze several notable governess representations as well as to
understand how these various depictions (from homewrecker governess to asexual, unsexed
governess) were employed to construct, conceal, and obscure the classed sexuality of the
governesses. The governess in the painting Looking for the Mail Packet , Miss Prism in The
Importance of Being Earnest, Mrs. Vesey in The Woman in White, portray governesses as
superfluous to the home and neglectful of their charges, lacking in sexual desirability, and utterly
unsophisticated. Some governesses, including Miss Prism, are described as women who seek to
destabilize the Victorian home Г la prostitutes and other undesirable women. No matter the case,
the governess as a Victorian figure was often not painted in a positive light in these texts. It is
important to consider the implications such portrayals because they can illuminate for modern
readers the ways in which the Victorian erapoliced and proscribed sexuality. The governess and her
role matters because she represents the social policing of womanhood as well as the

The Issue Of Gun Rights
Gun Rights Even though congressional gun related legislation remains stalemated, there is still a
continued argument over whether laws should be enacted to restrict guns or not enacted to allow
gun rights. Not allowing law abiding citizens, who support the constitution, to exercise their
rights to obtain and own firearms is unjust. Not only does this lead to making all gun owners
criminals, it also makes them easy targets. Citizens who pass background checks should be
allowed to obtain and possess firearms and be able to have concealed carry. Congress should not
enact gun control laws because American s have the right to protect themselves against criminals
who usually find ways around gun restrictions. Rather than hastily passing gun control laws,
Congress should pass laws and focus on issues like awareness and treatment of mental illnesses.
Citizens of the United States have the Constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment
of the Constitution reads: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Not to mention that the

Because of this, the negative impact on a person s individual identity is large. We imitate practices
displayed in the media, however licentious they may be and this changes our values and our self
image, which changes our individual identity. The collective identity is also impacted because the
media, in this scenario rap, changes our paradigms about the roles people play in a society. This is
done in rap songs with the degrading of women and the encouragement of violence. As outlined
here, media in the form of modern music or rap has a negative effect on a human beings collective
and individual identity.
Next I am going to talk about advertising focused on gender roles as a form of negative media. For
women, the media is always focused on how they look. It constantly degrades women s self esteem
by telling them to be skinny, vulnerable, powerless, and silenced. In addition, the media turns
women into objects or things instead of beings, which encourages violence towards them. This
teaches women it is okay for people to use them. Men are also negatively impacted by the media as

believe that one day I would find one man that I would marry and continue to pass on the cycle of
heterosexual socialization to my children. Due to all of this exposure, heterosexualitybecame natural
and thus, normal to me; however, this type of heterosexual socialization and heteronormativityis
often unrealistic to those who desire a different relationship or family, causing them to feel
excluded by a majority of society. This kind of exclusion has made people realize that this type
of socialization is dangerous because it makes those who do not fit into this idealistic society feel
trapped. It is also seen as unnecessary due to the immense amount of pressure it creates on
everyone to live up to society s expectations and is simply inconsistent with today s diverse social

Voltaire s Views Toward English French Religion, Government, and Scientific Advancements
After 1688, England became a constitutional monarchy under the rule of Mary and William. English
society evolved from embracing the absolute monarchy to one that introduces new thought
processes and beliefs. In Voltaire s Letters on England, he contributes the development of England
to its respectable regards toward religion, governmental systems, and scientific advancements. He
contrasts these practices with those of the less respectable Frenchmen, and reveals the different
outcomes of the two nations. Following the Reformation, there was a great division within the
Church between the Catholics and Protestants. This tension was eased during the reign of Queen
Elizabeth with the passing of the Act of Supremacy in 1559, which created the Church of England
and consequently the Anglican Church. Eventually Anglicanismbecame known as the New
Catholicism . While the pope was no longer recognized, bishops, and many aspects of medieval
heritage was retained under the Anglican Church. It was highly supported by many elites due to
its powerful expression of culture. In Voltaire s letters, he acknowledges that even though
everyone is allowed to practice their own religion, the true religion that in which a man makes his
fortune is the Church of England. It was very difficult for people to obtain jobs in England and
Ireland unless they were proclaimed followers. This especially depicted

Drones Pros Cons
Over the past few decades, drones have slowly been coming into use, showing astonishing results,
such as a 1.5% civilian casualty rate (Lewis 1 9). At first they were only used for surveillance, but
now, they are used for much more than that. The military should continue using drones because of
the many advantages they have over traditional combat methods, namely fewer civilian casualties,
lower expenditures, increased abilities, and the moral responsibility of their use. Despite these
facts, there are those who question the use of drones and believe that drones create more threats to
our military than they destroy. The advantages of drones provide the U.S. military with an edge
over terrorists and will help end the war on terrorismwith as little costs and casualties as possible.
Perhaps the most important benefit drones have over traditional... Show more content on

A team of experts behind the scenes with the drone pilot can look at the details of a situation and
make decisions based on them, whereas a fighter jet pilot has to make decisions on the spot by
himself (Callam). According to some moral philosophers, political scientists, and weapon
specialists, drones are the most moral weapons available (Ahmad 21 29). Many even consider
their use ethically obligatory (Shane). This means that it is the responsibility for the U.S. to use
drones and protect other nations from terrorists and other threats. The use of drones is considered a
responsibility of the U.S. because of how little collateral damage it inflicts. Drones are so much
more efficient at eliminating targets without many civilian casualties than traditional methods that
it would be morally wrong to not use drones in our military (Shane). As more drones are used,
fewer soldiers have to be sent to battle, which means fewer of our soldiers coming back in

Learning Style for Student Nurses
In this essay I will be discussing the importance of understanding learning styles for student nurses.
I will also be focusing on the learning cycle and learning style using the Honey and Mumford 80
questionnaire. I look into the details of how learning style helps students to understand the
importance of recognising one s learningstyle preference. I will also provide an understanding of
learning and learning theories and discuss my own dominant learning style and how I aim to deal
with my weaknesses to progress well in the nursing programme.
Learning is defined as a permanent change in attitude or behaviour that occurs as a result of
repeated experience (Sims Sims, 1995). Understanding one s learning style has many advantages as

The behaviourist approach, used by Pavlov and Skinner (1927 and 1952 cited in Gould, 2009),
established that learning is change in behaviour brought about by experience. Studies and research
have proven that we can voluntarily and involuntary respond to certain stimuli, and what we have
learnt from previous experience. Such associative behaviour can condition our response to our way
of learning and shape our learning style (Yildirim Ozkahraman, 2011). Once we have recognised
the most predominant learning style we are able to work out how to strengthen the weaker learning
style and enhance the dominant. Cottrell (2013) stated that discovering which learning style is best
for us can help our learning in the most effective way.
There are four stages to the learning cycle, which are included in the four distinct learning styles.
The first stage is having an experience reactively, which allows the experience to come to us
without making much effort to seek it, in contrast to proactively whereby we seek out the
experience. The second stage is reviewing or reflecting on the experience. Reflecting on
experience is vital and it plays an important role in learning. The third stage is concluding from the
experience and lastly planning the next steps to enable the learner to have an action plan for what
is required to be done (Honey and Mumford 2006). There is a strong connection between learning
style and learning

The Role Of Aboriginal History In Western Australia
Indigenous Australians have lived in this land for approximately 60,000 years, it s believed they
migrated from Africa to Australia through southern Asia. In 1770 Capitan James Cook, arrived in
Australia from England and claimed the land in the name of the United Kingdom, from that time
onwards British settlers took Aboriginal s land, resources, displace their people and pretty much
destroyed their culture.

Dr. Nidhi Vats
M.A. English (Final)
Decoding Wolfgang Iser‟s Reading Process Theory through the Text of Mrs Dalloway and
Bravely Fought the Queen In the 1960s, the new criticism theory in the American Literary arena
focused on the reading of a literary text as an independent form and not to be studied in relation to
any context. This gave birth to another theory that began majorly in 1960s and 1970s known as
reader response criticism, which also tried to do away with the author‟s role and focused on the
reader‟s perception that defined the text‟s subjectivity. In his work The Reading Process A
Phenomenological Approach , Wolfgang Iserdescribes about the reading of a literary work or text
as an interaction between the reader and the author. In order to understand a text in a better way
and to explore its meaning, Louise Rosenblatt in his work Literature as Exploration described how
the readers should be free from any preconceived notions about the proper way to react to any
work (Lewis,C.S.,1961) to experience any work or text individually. Similarly,
Iser also want the readers to make a niche for themselves while the aesthetic reading of a wok or a
text. Wolfgang Iser‟s reading in reference to two works, namely, Mrs Dalloway by Virginia
Woolf and Bravely Fought the Queen by Mahesh Dattani has been assessed in order to have a better
understanding and a practical approach in exploration or understanding the meaning of the texts.

Rendition Of A Single Day
In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Alexander Solzhenitsyn portrays the fictional rendition
of a single day s conflicts for a Zek within a Stalinist labor camp. Conflict aids the novel by allowing
the reader to better understand the endeavors the prisoners experience. To express the conditions
within the gulags, Solzhenitsyn shows how Ivan survives his agonizing daily tasks. From working
through frigid temperatures to trudging through the surroundings of snow and ice, Ivan and the
other prisoners labor through the harsh elements with their minimal strength in order to complete
their assigned duty. Another conflict occurs by the Zeks against each other. Distrust runs high,
making gulaglife more difficult. The men also commonly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A murky fog wrapped itself around Shukov and made him cough painfully. The temperature out
there was 17. Shukov s temperature was +99 (Solzhenitsyn 23). Illness is inevitable in the
despairing weather conditions and lack of proper health care. The men begin to lose hope in living,
and neglect their assigned tasks. Man vs. nature conflict signifies the recurring weather conditions
the men battle through. This conflicting aspect has the most impactful effect on the Zeks because
the cold temperatures and frozen precipitation weaken them, increasingly by the hour. Weather
clashes with them at all times because they are not given proper shelter. The conditions in the
bunks are near what it is like out in the elements, therefore they do not have a place to return for
their bodies to recover and gain heat. Because the men are not able to cope in the freezing weather,
their bodies begin to shut down. The repeated exposure increasingly weakens and kills off many of
the Zeks. Therefore, the most prominent form of conflict is through man vs. nature, which creates
the most immense battle within the novel, forcing the laborers to fight daily for their lives. In
addition to man vs. nature, another form of conflict Solzhenitsyn places throughout the book is
man vs. man. Due to the extreme conditions and savagery that arises from the lack of proper
supplies and living quarters, the men selfishly only think of themselves or their

Sound Used In Shrek
Sound plays an important role throughout the film Shrek in various forms. It is a key component in
the film and helps to convey meaning. The usage of sound reveals character, shapes the audience s
attention, and shapes the audience s feelings.
The different elements of the soundtrack contribute to how characters are revealed. For example,
Shrek throughout the film expresses his feelings and thoughts through dialogue. He considers ogres
to be onions with layers and mentions more often than not that he desires to be alone. These vocal
declarations show that Shrek is an ogre that feels he is loathed and that he is afraid to get close to
anyone for the fear of getting hurt. Fiona, from the moment Shrek met her, spoke much about true

Sympathy And Sympathy In Frankenstein
To be able to feel sympathy, humans first must be able to read into and understand another s
emotions. Mary Shelley uses this human aspect in her novel Frankenstein, as readers emotions are
played. Set in the early 1900s, the novel is a recount of Victor Frankenstein s life as he tells it to
Robert Walter, a man leading an exploration to the North Pole. Frankensteinstarts his narrative
explaining how he was a very curious child, and eventually went off to college and conducted an

The monster is in need of help from his creator, for he is new to the world and does not know
anything about living yet, but instead, he has nobody and is forced to figure life out by himself.
Readers understand the monster s emotion because he says I sat down and wept . By
understanding his emotion, it will cause readers to feel sympathy for him. This also proves one of
the larger themes of the novel, that people should treat others with empathy, because as his creator,
Frankenstein should have been able to understand and share his feelings, for he was often alone
and left to teach and fend for himself during his studies. Frankenstein s reject to his creation is
what caused the monster to feel so alone, and ultimately, what led to both of their destructions. In
addition to being rejected by his creator, Frankenstein s monster is also treated very violently by
humans, leaving him alone and feeling like he did something wrong, even though their reactions
are based solely on his appearance. The monster does not want to be thought of as a monster at
first, but as he comes to realize from human interactions, no matter what his actions are, people will
always judge him by what he cannot control. The monster explains the first interaction he had ever

Managing multicultural teams
Cultural differences create obstacles in front of the effective work. Different cultures and different
backgrounds need special manager skills. It is not enough that the manager has the general
managing skills: communication skills, problem solving skills, conflict resolution and time
management skills. They have to be aware and be able to handle the different communication styles,
different backgrounds and motivations behind the acts. They have to solve the ocurrent cultural
conflicts and misunderstandings.
The first task of the team leader to understand the cultural issues. They have to recognize the
cultural causes of conflicts and obstacles that lead to less effective work. After identifying the
problem the manager can choose three different actions to resolve interpersonal tension (Behfar et
al., 2006b): Adaption
Adaption is possible when team member are willing to accept the cultural differences and they are
able to work around the clashes. In this case team members participate in the problem solving
process without the interaction of the team leader. Intervention
Intervention is needed when the problems are caused by fluency issues or prejudice or because of
the lack of the rules. To avoid the conflicts the team leader can change the structure of the team or
create norms and set the terms in the

To what extent was US military intervention in the Vietnam War justified? This paper will
examine the causes of the conflict and why the US got involved. The paper will inspect the US
relationship and ties with the different countries and parties involved in the conflict. The paper
will also look at various US policies, such as foreign policy and the containment of communism,
and the public opinion of the war. Effects of the war will also be looked at as a reference, but
these effects will not be the focus of the paper. Both secondary and primary sources will be utilized

The US did not want to help France reinstate colonial rule but at the same time knew that a
Vietminh victory would result in a loss of another area to communism (Gurtov 24). After France
was defeated, the US started to get directly involved and in the Geneva Conference, still wanted
to explore more military solutions (Messing 1309; Schulzinger 72). The Geneva Accords failed
to keep the peace as the US did not agree to its final declaration (Messing 1312). It is assumed
that the United States is bound by the Geneva accords and its actions should correspond with the
accords (Messing 1320). According to the US legal advisor, in this case the US actions are
justifiable because North Vietnam had broken the accords first; however, there is little evidence to
support this claim and convincing cases can be made that say the opposite (Messing 1321). Even if
North Vietnam had broken the accords first, the United Nations Charter article 2, paragraph 4,
unlike traditional international law makes such forcible self help an unlawful means of withholding
compliance with an international government (Messing 1321). While the US involvement in the
war is legal to some extent, there is enough evidence to cause debate in the other

General Grain Theory Case Study
The third part of the general strain theory is the removal of positively valued stimuli. The
removal of positively valued stimuli could include many things. Some things that could be
involved in negative stimuli could be the death of a family member/friend, the loss of a
relationship, the loss of a substance that one might be addicted to, (coffee, drugs, videogames
etc.) the loss of previously owned money, or even the loss of a cell phone. The removal of
positively valued stimuli could include anything that was valued and then is taken away by some
force (Bernard, Snipes, and Gerould, 2010, p. 164 165). In the case of the Walmart shooting, one

Considering that Willis was stationed at the air base in Grand Folks since 2013, one could

The family of the airman explained how happy Willis was when visiting his family. The family
also explained that they did not see anything wrong with his mental state and was in disbelief that
Willis had committed such a terrible crime (NBC News 2015). Dude to these facts, one could
imagine that Willis could have missed his family a great deal. Willis could have been so homesick
that he would rather die than live away from his family. The final part of the general strain theory is
the presentation of negative stimuli. The presentation of negative stimuli causes strain and negative

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Fingerprint Authentication In 1997, President William J. Clinton, as cited by Woodward (2003), states that having right to privacy is one of the most cherished freedoms by individuals. However, most of the consumers today just cares about the convenience brought by technology. Many consumers do not like passwords and PINs because it might be forgotten due to its complexity or it might took a lot of time to be authenticated. Fingerprintauthenticationwas implemented to address these problems. Vacca (2007) remarks that consumers will use fingerprint authentication because of its convenience (p. 121). Although finger scan technology provides the convenience, which consumers always wanted, without sacrificing security, this technology infringes their privacy at the same time. Individuals lose their anonymity when they disclose their biometric information. Woodward (1997) states that the individual is disclosing an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Vacca (2007), fingerprint authentication is trusted for e commerce since most of the Internet users are uncomfortable of disclosing their credit card information online (p. 123). Some businesses and companies are starting to integrate fingerprint scanning into their products and systems. Potter (2015) states that Royal Bank of Scotland would enable fingerprint authentication on its mobile banking apps. Mobile banking users would be able to access their accounts instantly by tapping their finger on the fingerprint sensor. According to Wielch (2014), Apple s new payment method called Apple Pay allows consumers to transact securely without taking their credit card out. Furthermore, Wielch (2014) states that a consumer simply holds their phone near the payment terminals and places their finger on the Touch ID to authorize the transaction. Sustar (2014) affirms that Apple Pay is being integrated by leading retailers, banks and credit card companies into their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Battle Of San Jacinto Case Study Strategic Setting Depending on the perspective, the strategic factors of the Battle of San Jacinto were either to re align Texas with the Mexican government, as it had pulled away in rebellion due to Anglo interference from the U.S. (Pedro, 1921). A second perspective of the strategic factor of the Battle of San Jacinto had to do with Texans, in particular Anglo Texans from the Southern U.S., wanting to extend the influence of slavery over the region, intentionally flaunting and ignoring Mexicos anti slavery polices (Tindall and Shi, 2013). A third perspective, offered by Anderson and Wooster (2016) is that strategically the Battle of San Jacinto was the result of tyrannical oversight and behaviors by Santa Anna and the Mexican government over Texas. It should be noted that the strategic factors listed are over arching causes of the Mexico Texas War for Independence, which cumulates with the Battle of San Jacinto.... • 7. Lying, By Jeremy Bentham I am going to argue why lying is immoral no matter who you might be lying to, friends, family, and even someone you do not know. This is immoral because even though lying to someone may bring relief or happiness it s still hiding the truth from that person. Hiding something they deserve to know even though it may hurt them may also be a form of lying. There are many situations where lying may end friendships, relationships, or even tare families apart because most people want to know the truth no matter how harsh, because eventually the truth may come out. In addition to hiding information, there are also other forms of lying. Telling someone false information as well as withholding information are forms of lying. The worst part about telling a lie is that the more you do it the more comfortable one may become. Lying becomes a habit to many people, a habit they have a hard time breaking. Lying can simply be defined in one word, deception. Jeremy Bentham who is a British philosopher in the 1700 s and early 1800 s believed in the principle of utility otherwise known as utilitarianism. Jeremy Bentham thinks it s permissible to tell a small lie because in the long run Bentham is looking for the ultimate amount of happiness. Bentham believes in the greatest happiness for the greatest number. As long as an act brings more happiness than disappointment then that act is moral. • 10. Hidden Time Capsule Analysis In this assignment, I am a cultural anthropologist searching for a hidden time capsule from both the Renaissance Age and the Age of Baroque. In each capsule it is rumored that there are at least two examples of each of the following items locked inside: Art, Music, Descriptions of drawings or architecture, Philosophy, and Literature. The period after the Middle Agesis known as the Renaissancein Europe. This era ushered in a sense of cultural renewal with a focus on classical learning and values of ancient Greece and Rome. During the time of the Renaissance, politics were relatively stable and there was a sense of expanding prosperity. Because of this, the development of new technologies such as printing presses, a new system of astronomy and an influx of newly discovered lands. Additionally, philosophy, literature, and art were also becoming synonymous with the Renaissance era. The style of painting, sculpture and decorative arts identified with the Renaissance emerged in Italyin the late 14th century; it reached its zenith in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, in the work of Italian masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael (History, 2010). Command Of The Air Force Lt Gen Bruce Litchfield, Commander of the Air Force Sustainment Center states that, Our ability to provide cost effective readiness will determine the size of our Air Force and that (t)he size of our Air Force will determine our ability to fight and win the next war. (O Brien, 2014) The automatic and significant reductions to the Department of Defense s budget, known as Sequestration as triggered by the Budget Control Act of 2011, has forced the US Air Force to re engineer how it performs weaponssystem sustainment and reimagine how it will sustain weapons systems in the future, particularly with regard to new weapons system acquisitions. The Air Force continues to publicly make the case that in order to remain effective and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... History has shown that weapons systems that have a 30 year life cycle or longer, incur approximately 60 80% of the cost associated with the platform in the operations and sustainment phase of the system s life cycle. (Figure 2) Therefore, in order to maximize recapitalization and modernization efforts, the Air Force must consider the extensive myriad of types of logistics support required to field, operate, employ, and sustain a new weapon system in the post Sequestration environment. Moreover, the Air Force must effectively balance DoD directives for joint service interoperability, industry s desires to maximize profits, and the reality of Congressional politics in an effort to optimize scarce program dollars in particular the effort to make possible the most efficient use sustainment dollars. Background In recent years the acquisition community has changed its weapons system sustainment nomenclature from acquisition logistics to life cycle logistics and, to its most current iteration, product support. As noted by the Defense Acquisition Guidebook, Performance Based Logistics (PBL) is the preferred Department of Defense product support strategy to improve weapon system readiness by procuring performance, which capitalizes on integrated logistics chains and public /private partnerships. Erich Fromm s Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem In Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem, Erich Fromm (1963) argues that society will self destruct without achieving freedom through disobedience. Fromm begins with analogies of Hebrew and Greek mythology showing how disobedience to a god freed humans. Using this correlation, Fromm shows freedom as a condition for disobedience, and vice versa. Therefore, Fromm proclaims that without disobedience the human race could destroy itself within a generation. Fromm s article, first published in 1963, stems from fear of a third world war. Despite the outdated comment by Behrens and Rosen in the introduction, the article still applies to suggestion human... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fromm relates this to the fetus in the womb and to cutting the umbilical cord to become fully human. In both situations, Fromm believes the disobedience in both situation results in freedom. The Adam and Eve analogy holds true only to creationists, not to evolutionists. Atheists, agnostics, and other religions simply reject the Garden of Eden story. For these people, the process of becoming fully human resulted in evolution over thousands of years. However, if the analogy is true for the fetus, one must assume the mother demands the baby to stay in the womb, not to enter the new world. Yet the purpose of procreation is to bring a new child into this world. Birth is a natural process, not a medical procedure, thus cannot be forever prolonged (Childbirth.org). How often is it mothers are disappointed pregnancy did not last longer? Most mothers become ecstatic when pregnancy is over and she can enjoy God s creation. Fromm (1963) uses the analogy in his essay to suggest the baby disobeys God. However, once conception occurs, the mother has only one choice under God s law giving birth. A few examples of God s will are in 1 Timothy 2:15, women will be saved through childbearing, and how Exodus 21:22 23 mentions morally wrong abortion. With thousands of biblical examples, it should be hard for a religious scholar to suggest a baby disobeys God s will by leaving its mothers womb. Disobeying God can ... Picasso At The Lapin Agile Essay Picasso at the Lapin Agile From the time you enter the Falk Theatre, until the curtain rises and falls on the production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile, you are in for a treat. The play is an original work by Steve Martin with a running time of 90minutes, which feels more like 30minutes. Aside from the uncomfortable seating, this production is nothing short of wonderful. The Theatre has been transformed from a long movie Theater atmosphere to a quaint surrounding by means of risers that are placed directly on the stage. The new seating divides the old Theater in half and allows for the actors and the audience to share the same space. Not only this atmosphere that makes it wonderful but also the performances, the direction, the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the set design, we first see the use of layering, with a large cyclorama that has been painted onto a piece of scrim to allow for a visual effect at the end of the play. The painting depicts a beautiful scene of sheep in a meadow in the fog , with a wall to represent the interior of the Lapin Agile containing a painting of sheep in a meadow in the fog . On each side of this backdrop are doors: the entrance to the bar and the other the to the bathroom. The emphasis on details can be noticed in the set with the signs that are posted on either side of the bathroom door, which swings freely when pushed. The door has a board on it the says OUI and when it is flung in the opposite direction it too says OUI a creative and pun intended wee wee . This is a subtlety in the stage design that brings the humor away from the actual text and into an unusual place, the set. Little things like these accentuate my appreciation of the production as a whole. The lighting is also something that was exceptionally well done. The designers used a large amount of light with soft yellow and orange tones to give an overall feeling of warmth to the setting. The day moves from morning to night with the most drastic change at nightfall where the tones switch to blues and the star light shine across the cyclorama. It is perhaps the blocking from the director and the skills of the actors though that makes this performance so wonderful. The technique of layering was used by both in how ... It was only a moment for you; you took no notice, says Madeleine, played by Kim Novak, as she foreshadows the mysterious events which take place in Vertigo. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, Vertigo qualifies as a film noir because it contains a femme fatale, a pessimistic romance, and is filmed by an immigrant director. Many filmnoirs contain a femme fatale, and Vertigo is no different. Madeleine and Judy, both played by Kim Novak, are definitely femme fatales. A femme fatale is a mysterious, two faced, deceitful, manipulative, and overall beautiful woman. Both characters portray that definition perfectly. Alfred Hitchcock, the great master of suspense, came from England. He travelled to the United States with his family to create better and greater films that could be even more successful than they were in England. Hitchcock loved a suspenseful and dark film, which caused him to create some of the greatest films of all time such as Psycho, The Birds, and North By Northwest. His film Vertigo displays all of these aspects, causing the film to be a perfect example of the Hitchcockian style. This style came from when Hitchcock was a child in England, where his parents would punish him harshly whenever he was behaving badly. Not only that, but at his British Catholic school, he would be harshly punished, but he set the time for when he felt he should get his punishment that week. The way he was raised in another country was completely unique and new to American film, causing his film noir Vertigo to contain many of the features he is known for today. However, there are other many leaders that also played the important roles in reforming India. One of them is Babasaheb Ambedkar. If I have to compare both of them with the warlord, I would say that Gandhi is like the warlord who fight peacefully for the country liberation, while Babasaheb Ambedkar is like the warlord who fight for equality and justice in the country. To be honest, it is very shameful that I have never known Ambedkar before. Since after I have read his biography and what he had done, he suddenly became one of my idols. This caused a stagnant economy in communities because the system did not allow people to have other professional skills and entered other professions outside the caste group. He said that fixity of occupations hindered the growth and development of the Indian economy and the society. • 21. The Poetry Of Catullus A less dictionary like definition of poetry is, putting the best words in the best possible order. The poet may astutely choose words possibly with a double meaning in order to indirectly convey a message, evoke emotions, or to slander. Then, the poet may unconventionally place such words and phrases perhaps out of expected order for the sake of creating a wordpicture, emphasizing the speaker s feelings, or offering tangibility to the poem. By incorporating this idea onto works, the poet will have auspiciously written a superb poem. This theory may be applied to a few of Catullus s poems specifically Carmen 5 , Carmen 8 , and Carmen 85 . The meticulous choice of words and arrangement highlight the central focus of the poem, obliquely criticize traditional Roman law, manipulate the audience s attitude, transmit the speaker s emotions, paint word pictures, and offer symbolic meaning consequently producing a successful poem. For starters, Carmen 5 is an amorous poem Catullus wrote directed at his forbidden lover, Lesbia. Catullus insists they should disregard the rumors of old men, because while the sun is able to return, they only have one life to seize. Therefore, Catullus demands hundreds and thousands of kisses in a jumbled up manner from Lesbia, so their ardent passion cannot ever be cursed. Refueling stops, that reflect the least route departure, at the maximum cost savings, are part of the planned route the driver will follow. Some of these reasons include resources and people in the society. George Orwell s 1984, along with past governments, show that a utopia can never be truly created and that it will always turn into a dystopia. One reason why a perfect society can never be made is due to the fact that even though it might be set up perfectly, we cannot change the fact that people are imperfect. Any bit of imperfection is all it takes to cause something to turn from perfect to imperfect. One writer said about utopian societies, Even with such optimism, the flawed individual is still inserted into otherwise improved societies (Hough 1). Machine to Machine technology and analytics is the promising future of the big data era. Its exponential growth and advancement promises a plethora of solutions and new ideas, but as with all innovations, it will also create a wave of new issues, problems and complications that, given its scale, magnitude and speed of development will certainly challenge as much as it benefits the legal industry. What is M2M IoT? Machine to Machine (M2M) is a broad label that can be used to describe any technology that enables networked devices to exchange information and perform actions without the manual assistance of humans. Products built with M2M communication capabilities are often marketed to end users as being smart . The interconnection between smart objects and the way we interact in the environment is described as the Internet of Things. How does it work? Sensors (which are devices with processor, memory, storage, inputs and outputs, OS and software capabilities that gather and/or disseminate data on just about anything ), are attached to objects, and the objects identities, state or state of surroundings become capable of being relayed to an Internet connected IT structure. • 34. Governesses Represented An Unusual Social Class Essay Governesses represented an unusual social class in Victorian culture. They were often women belonging to the middle class, however, they had a central role in the upbringing of upper class children and the construction of Victorian education and ideals. Despite their significance within the homes of wealthy families, many governesses were treated with suspicion and fear. This paper, however, seeks to analyze several notable governess representations as well as to understand how these various depictions (from homewrecker governess to asexual, unsexed governess) were employed to construct, conceal, and obscure the classed sexuality of the governesses. The governess in the painting Looking for the Mail Packet , Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest, Mrs. Vesey in The Woman in White, portray governesses as superfluous to the home and neglectful of their charges, lacking in sexual desirability, and utterly unsophisticated. Some governesses, including Miss Prism, are described as women who seek to destabilize the Victorian home Г la prostitutes and other undesirable women. No matter the case, the governess as a Victorian figure was often not painted in a positive light in these texts. It is important to consider the implications such portrayals because they can illuminate for modern readers the ways in which the Victorian erapoliced and proscribed sexuality. The Issue Of Gun Rights Gun Rights Even though congressional gun related legislation remains stalemated, there is still a continued argument over whether laws should be enacted to restrict guns or not enacted to allow gun rights. Not allowing law abiding citizens, who support the constitution, to exercise their rights to obtain and own firearms is unjust. Not only does this lead to making all gun owners criminals, it also makes them easy targets. Citizens who pass background checks should be allowed to obtain and possess firearms and be able to have concealed carry. Congress should not enact gun control laws because American s have the right to protect themselves against criminals who usually find ways around gun restrictions. Rather than hastily passing gun control laws, Congress should pass laws and focus on issues like awareness and treatment of mental illnesses. Citizens of the United States have the Constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment of the Constitution reads: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Not to mention that the military fights and dies for rights given to us via the Constitution. The military should continue using drones because of the many advantages they have over traditional combat methods, namely fewer civilian casualties, lower expenditures, increased abilities, and the moral responsibility of their use. Despite these facts, there are those who question the use of drones and believe that drones create more threats to our military than they destroy. The behaviourist approach, used by Pavlov and Skinner (1927 and 1952 cited in Gould, 2009), established that learning is change in behaviour brought about by experience. Studies and research have proven that we can voluntarily and involuntary respond to certain stimuli, and what we have learnt from previous experience. Such associative behaviour can condition our response to our way of learning and shape our learning style (Yildirim Ozkahraman, 2011). Once we have recognised the most predominant learning style we are able to work out how to strengthen the weaker learning style and enhance the dominant. Cottrell (2013) stated that discovering which learning style is best for us can help our learning in the most effective way. There are four stages to the learning cycle, which are included in the four distinct learning styles. The first stage is having an experience reactively, which allows the experience to come to us without making much effort to seek it, in contrast to proactively whereby we seek out the experience. The second stage is reviewing or reflecting on the experience. Reflecting on experience is vital and it plays an important role in learning. The third stage is concluding from the experience and lastly planning the next steps to enable the learner to have an action plan for what is required to be done (Honey and Mumford 2006). Yadav Dr. Nidhi Vats M.A. English (Final) Decoding Wolfgang Iser‟s Reading Process Theory through the Text of Mrs Dalloway and Bravely Fought the Queen In the 1960s, the new criticism theory in the American Literary arena focused on the reading of a literary text as an independent form and not to be studied in relation to any context. This gave birth to another theory that began majorly in 1960s and 1970s known as reader response criticism, which also tried to do away with the author‟s role and focused on the reader‟s perception that defined the text‟s subjectivity. In his work The Reading Process A Phenomenological Approach , Wolfgang Iserdescribes about the reading of a literary work or text as an interaction between the reader and the author. In order to understand a text in a better way and to explore its meaning, Louise Rosenblatt in his work Literature as Exploration described how the readers should be free from any preconceived notions about the proper way to react to any work (Lewis,C.S.,1961) to experience any work or text individually. Similarly, Iser also want the readers to make a niche for themselves while the aesthetic reading of a wok or a text. Man vs. nature conflict signifies the recurring weather conditions the men battle through.
