Elizabeth Woodville And Anne Boleyn
Women throughout history rarely receive attention for more than superficial causes: their influence on
style, manners, or less. However, many women found themselves contributing to the formation of
postmodern constructs of marriage for love, partnership, and fidelity. Foremost among these,
temporally and popularly, are the examples of Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Boleyn. Undoubtedly,
these cases hold great significance to cultural studies of the temporal periods in which the English
identify as participants, but they also aid in seeing the eventual popular degradation of women from
chaste matrons and aloof maidens to lusty bawds and traitorous whores. By this degradation and
extensive primary sources, scholars can easily find these women as examples of the use of one s
image for power in redefining concepts of queenship, and also women who set the standard to view
the gradual combination of partner and lover in understanding social history. Aristocratic women in
the Court system as a whole find relatively little attention by the most popular works on its culture.
David Starkey , Alison Weir , and David Gunn , even though they offer insights on topic largely
relegated to popular histories and romances; women, in fact, receive little merit for their Courtly
careers. Yet, it is important to recognize that the late medieval and Tudor Court offered an increasing
number of roles for women to fill, as well as, a semblance of stability. The key to the ability for young
women to

Question: What happens over three weeks when you mix different types of sugar and salt with hot and
cold water?
Determining experimental variables:
Prediction: By the end of the three weeks I believe our crystals will form for all the salt water bottles
and not for the sugar water bottles. I think the bottles with the hot water will make bigger crystals.
Equipment:
Rock salt
Table salt
Icing sugar
Normal sugar
8 glass bottles
Hot and cold water
Pen
Paper
String
9 Popsicle sticks
Procedure:
1. Boil some water in a kettle.
2. Cut the 9 pieces of string to 10cm and tie it in the middle of the popsicle stick allowing 6 7cm
hanging down (do this to all 9)
3. Place the bottles in a single row on the paper
4. Divide that evenly into 4 bottles, with the remaining 4 bottles add cold tap water making sure that
the water is the same amount for each bottle
5. In your first bottle add 1 table spoon of rock salt and stir then put one of the popsicle sticks on top
of the bottle allowing the string to go in the water.
6. Label the paper stating if hot or cold water is used and which salt is used and placing the bottle
behind it.
7. Repeat step 5 6 with all the rest of the bottles using different salts and sugar for each.

Uneducated Black Male Labeling Theory
The Uneducated Black Male; Labeling Theory
I. Introduction
Black males within American society struggle to be successful because of challenges arising from
racism and oppression, lack of effective educational leadership, and adverse racial stereotypes. Toby

Hooks , We Real Cool: Black Men and Masculinity , and Tyrone C. Howard s Who Really Cares? The
Disenfranchisement of African American Males in PreK 12 Schools: A Critical Race Theory

If an individual has grown up hearing that they are uneducated, stupid, or worthless, and has had no
one to tell them otherwise, eventually they will believe it is true and identify themselves in such a
way. Unfortunately it is difficult being a Black male growing up in today s society because they are
often perceived as fitting a negative labels or stereotypes, regardless if it is true or not. In order to
prevent Black males from accepting the negative label or stereotype as and behaving in such a way, I
believe it is important for Black males to be exposed to positive role models and influential people
who will reassure Black males that the negative racial stereotypes and labels they hear are not true.
Black males must also be aware of the negative labels and stereotypes associated with their gender
and race, yet learn to ignore them and identify themselves based on who they truly believed they are,
not who other people say they

Extinction De-Extinction
De extinction offers the possibility for extinct species to be brought back to life by reproductive
cloning. Critics argue that de extinction will reduce the will of society to protect endangered species,
as well as harm the existing ecosystem upon species reintroduction. However, supporters argue that
many species would be great candidates for de extinction and will possibly be beneficial to the
ecosystem. I will argue that de extinction should not be pursued. I will argue that reintroduction of
unextinct species could cause humanity to become disinterested in protecting endangered species due
to the loss of finality of extinction. Furthermore, re introduction of extinct species into ecosystems
would negatively shift the balance, and may cause endangerment and potential extinction of otherwise
unharmed populations.
Some supporters of de extinction believe it to be reasonable for reviving recently extinct species as a
last resort in their conservation. However, it is a common belief among critics that it is of greater
import to protect endangered species and reduce human impact so as to prevent extinction. Shapiro, a
supporter of de extinction, argues that de extinction should not compete for funding with measures for
protection of endangered species. However, she argues that both extinct and extant species have
valuable roles in maintenance of the ecosystem (2015, p. 195). In the same paper, she admits that fears
for an increase in the rate of extinction are valid for

Advertising and Behavior Control Essay
In the article Advertising and Behavior Control there were many arguments for and against
advertising. The first and the biggest problem Robert L. Arrington has against advertising is puffery.
The reason/reasons why Arrington has a problem with puffery is due to the fact that the seller makes
exaggerated, or suggestive claims about a product. His overall argument on puffery is that it isn t just
bragging but it is bragging that is designed to persuade you to want the item or product being sold.
The bragging goes so far as they convince the viewer (of the advertisement) they need the product.
Puffery ultimately leads to manipulation, exploitation, and control over what people think of the
product. Although Arrington has reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are just a couple of the arguments for and against advertising, and Arrington continues with
many more thought provoking and legitimate arguments. All in all, Arrington makes claims for and
against advertising, and eventually comes to the conclusion that he does not know what is right. If
advertising is indeed good or bad as he says on page 289 I do not pretend to have the answer. I only
hope that the above discussion, in showing some of the kinds of harm that can be done by advertising
and by indicating the likely limits of this harm, will put us in a better position to grapple with the
question. In my own opinion I don t think that advertising should be controlled anymore than it is
now. My reason for thinking this way is because products are made to be sold and along with that
products are also made

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Australian Aid
Advantages and Disadvantages of Aid to Australia Geography Essay
The purpose of Australian Aid is to help developing countries around the world eradicate poverty and
to promote stability and prosperity both in our region and beyond, by providing different types of
assistance and financial support. Although Australia receives a number of benefits due to aid, several
disadvantages can also arise as a result of this link with different countries.
Providing aid to developing countries in the Asia Pacific region allows the countries to develop
politically and economically, helping the region prosper, and therefore improve Australia s personal
security. The aid provided by Australia helps developing countries to stabilise their situation ... Show

Therefore, the recipient countries over reliance on Australian aid money places a strain on the
Australian economy, as well as the risk of witnessing a downfall of a nearby nation, which could result
in the endangerment of Australia s national security.
An additional advantage of aid is that it provides Australia with strengthened diplomatic, economic
and political ties to the recipient countries. As Australia is a prominent aid donor in the Asia Pacific
region, it has strong diplomatic ties with the developing countries of that area, and can therefore
receive the benefits from such a relationship with these countries. An example of such a relationship
would be the free trade agreements Australia signed with Singapore in 2003 and Thailand in 2005,
Australia diplomatic relationship with these nations played a large role in the securing of these two
agreements. Australia can also benefit from such a good relationship politically as the recipient
country of Australian aid can support Australia s politics. A strong relationship with a recipient nation
would also allow Australia to form economic bonds with the developing country, such as the
agreement of tied aid money were the recipient must spend some of the aid money provided by
Australia on Australia s goods and services, therefore strengthening Australia s economy. Hence,
creating and maintaining strong relationships with recipient nations of Australian aid is advantages as

How to Overcome Individual-Level Resistance to...
How to overcome individual level resistance to organizational changes
Abstract
Organization change is prevalent, we cannot avoid failure in working, it is just the question about
sooner or later. When we met frustration,we have to take steps to alter the environment. Thus, change
in organization is a necessary result of standstill.
However, where there is change, there is resistance to change. Lectures show that resistance of
employees is always the largest barrier for the organization who want to take a change to develop
further .To solve the relationship of the forces of change and resistance, choosing suitable methods
and strategies is very important.

As we just mentioned before, change is irresistible, however, there is still forces reject to change. Thus,
a theory called force field theory was developed by a researcher named Kurt Lewin. It explained how
do these to forces influence each other. In the form below, we can see that when the two forces are all
most balances, there s indeed little change for the organization. In some degree, if there is a need to
change, managers have to consider a way to push the employees to adjust the new decision and new
environment that the changes make bring(George Jones, 2008 ).
Exhibit 2 illustrated Lewin s theory [pic]
Performance level P1of an organization is shown to be balanced means force for change and
resistance to change are equal. If organization want to achieve performance leve P2, the managers
must increase the forces for change and reduce resistance to change,or both.
How to overcome
Communicate with the workforce
For most employees, the horror of change is that they don t know what is going to happen next.
(George Jones, 2008 ). Managers could communicate with employees, to insight their fright about
change and then check out what is the best solution for both.(Litch, Bonnie, 2005) . Or ,they can have
a good group communication in a weekly meeting (George Jones, 2008 ).

The Threat Of The Security Council ( Ips ) Is Of Paramount...
The concept of threat to international peace and security (IPS) is of paramount importance for the UN
collective security system. Article 39 determines the identification and removal of threats to peace as
one of the most fundamental tasks of the UN Security Council (UNSC). Still, there is no clear and
exhaustive definition of threat to IPS . In the first part of the essay, I will explain how the notion of
threat to IPS has evolved after the end of the Cold War. Secondly, I will focus on the UNSC practice,
on its unsolvable relation with the definition of threat to peace and on the possible challenges posed to
the UNSC by the expansion of the notion. Finally, I will briefly take under examination the Gulf War
case as a cornerstone in the concept expansion trend.
Article 1(1) of the UN Charter sets the maintenance of international peace and security as one of the
main purposes of the United Nations. With this objective in mind Article 24(1), in order to ensure
prompt and effective action appoints the UNSC as the organ primarily responsible for the maintenance
of international peace and security .
However, the legal pivotal basis of the collective security system is represented by Article 39. As
rightly noted by Dinstein, Article 39 prescribes the UNSC s mandatory duty emphasised by the use of
the verb shall of determining the existence of any threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of
aggression and of making recommendations or binding decisions in

Global Warming And Its Effect On Ecosystems By Stimulating...
Abstracts
The uses of microcosm are resourceful in giving insight into the behaviors of larger scale systems.
global warming is increasing at escalating rate and could affect ecosystems. Ecosystems are a very
important part of humanity as they provide us with essential services to survive. It is important to
know the factors that could affect this. The use of microcosm experiments can be used to give
information into how ecological communities will be affected by climate change. In this study
sampled populations of the species Paramecium and Euglena were taken over 5 days at different
temperatures using PCR, Microscopes, Serial dilution and spectrophotometry techniques. The results
gathered form over the 5 days showed that increasing temperature over time has an effect on the
microcosms, negatively and positively. This experiment proved that the increase in temperature
through climate change has an effect on ecosystems by stimulating reproduction, interaction and
competition.
Introduction
Climate change through changes in the environment is rapidly increasing and creating a negative
impact on ecological services provided from biodiversity.
Ecosystems are essential to the sustenance of humanity as they provide us with many useful services
like food, energy, water and recycling. (Benton et al., 2007)

User Interfaces ( Ui s )
User interfaces (UI s) are a core feature in just about every modern software application. Games are
no exception to this rule. The vast majority of games utilize some form of UI to display information
such as health, skills, maps, ammo for a weapon, and more. Unity 3D offers a variety of UI elements
that you can use in your game. In this post, I ll provide instructions on how to create a simple Pause

The Reform And Implementation Of A New Defined Benefit...
INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension
system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A new
1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was officially put
into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the
implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World
Bank (World Bank, 2008). In this paper, the adequacy, sustainability, predictability, and robustness of
Indonesia s pension scheme will be evaluated in comparison to other countries with similar pension
schemes. The focus will mostly be on the new program JPN, and to a lesser extent, the old Jamsostek
program Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT). DB AND DC SCHEMES Indonesia has both of these schemes
implemented in the pension system. Both schemes cover only the formal sector. DC (Jaminan Hari
Tua) Prior to the 2015 reform, Indonesia s DC system was abused by contributors by withdrawing the
balance long before the maturity of the fund/retirement . A reform was made so that the minimum
contributory period was 10 years and a large part of the balance cannot be withdrawn until participants
reach retirement age. Most individuals do not understand the actuarial component in a DC scheme.

Essay on Poor Education is a Cyclical Trap
Undoubtedly, the inadequate condition of our country s education system is cyclical. The level of
poverty in the United States is high; therefore, economic problems prevent many from receiving
sufficient education. This deficiency prevents higher levels of learning, which stand in the way of our
nation s economic growth. This situation is simultaneously widespread and continuous. The
importance in providing better educational opportunities should be recognized, supported and
enforced in our country in order to improve our current situation.
The lack of government funds to pay for school necessities greatly contribute to our problem of poor

Furthermore, disregard for knowledge will perpetuate health issues and unemployment which can
contribute to homelessness.
When family values are suffering, education amongst the children within that family may also suffer.
The causes of deterioration within the family structure may also be created by economic problems and
a lack of community support. When value is placed on working to earn support within a financially
disadvantaged family, the value placed on education is non existent. Children are not instilled with the
value of education to earn more money, since money is needed for immediately survival. Parents do
not have time to involve themselves with the school system and attend teacher conferences to assist
their children. Familial and cultural cycles develop that are extremely difficult to break. Uneducated
parents do not encourage their children to achieve higher education. There is likelihood for this type of
family to produce unemployable offspring. More unemployed people equate to more receiving
government benefits, further exacerbating social problems. This situation creates a need for even more
social services and places a further strain on government resources.
The placement of value on education is detrimental for the future of our country. Looking to other
successful countries, it is clear that the basis of a good education is comprised of math, reading and
science. It is to our

Background and Significance The Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department was formed on January 5,
1883 by resolution of the city council to establish a full time, paid department. Prior to 1883, the
citizens of Council Bluffs had been protected from fire by several different volunteer fire companies.
The first such company, known as Hook Ladder 1, was formed after a conflagration destroyed most of
the town on November 14, 1854 (Petersen, 1992). Between 1854 and 1883, the department grew in
size, purchasing steam pumpers in 1868 and 1880. The city grew as well, expanding from a population
of 2,011 in 1860 to 18,063 in 1880. In 1918, the firemen of the CBFD organized and became a charter
member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Local 15. This is an affiliation that
the labor force of the CBFD still maintains today. On April 5, 1920, the CBFD began a two platoon
system with day and night shifts. Ten new firemen were hired bringing the total staffing to 36 men
working out of five stations. As the city continued to grow the fire department updated and broadened
the footprint of its fire stations. In 1942, a new Fire Station 2 was built

Army s efforts in minimizing the impact of uncertainty during the force reduction. Even with major
political and legislative challenges, keeping balance among the different proportions of readiness is a
goal of US defense policy. During the budgetary preparation, downsizing of the armed forces often
becomes one of the first victims of fiscal reduction. This was true of the years between World War I
and World War II, when the Great Depression made military preparedness a very low national priority.

By that time, simple questions remained without a steady answer regarding the morale, training,
retention programs, and most important, readiness. Wong (2013) quotes the Army reduction as
follows,
One would be hard pressed to find anyone who would claim that the post Vietnam downsizing,
typified by insensitive dismissals of combat veterans via pink slips accompanied by almost
nonexistent transition assistance, is an example of a well executed reduction in force.
The Army s success in battles becomes a product of its readiness, training, and equipment and of
course its size. In the American history, the success of the first battles was a product of combination of
all the mentioned factors and especially reduction of the military numbers. Due to the public s will and
pressure for downsizing the force after conflicts and increasing the number right before the following
conflicts, the will to repair the damage already done was almost obsolete. In his article, Dunn (2013)
mentions, public reaction to the US first battles served as a catalyst for repairing the state of the Army
. The downsizing routine followed after Cold War period, in order to match the proper rate of forces
on the evolving and complicated environment.
After Cold War Downsizing
After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War, the Army purposely strived to avoid the

Noise Sensor Essay
Abstract In this Paper, issues related to noise sensor application of instrumentation amplifier through
substrate coupling in system on chip design are described and demonstrated including the physical
phenomenon responsible for its creation, coupling transmission mechanism and media, parameter
affecting coupling strengths and its impact on mixed signal integrated circuits. Basic aim is to find out
magnitude of interference happening when analog and digital circuit is placed nearby on a common
substrate. It has been design to have a broad bandwidth (1 KHz to 1MHz) with very high CMRR to
cancel out the unwanted noise at its both inputs and deliver single output. MOSFET capacitors are
used for the picking of substrate interference.
Key words CMOS, , noise sensor, Substrate Coupling, Guard Banding.
Introduction
The wireless sensor network is applicable in numerous life saving critical field because of low cost
long battery life sensors. A sensor network comprises of sensors and routers to choose the
administrator host that is called the coordinator [2]. A wireless sensor network is easy to use in the
desired environment [6], and the information can be collected then processed and sent to a desired
location. Recent break trough in wireless communication and micro electro mechanical systems
(MEMS) [3 5] provides large scale, low power, multi functional, and low cost network
A wireless sensor network can be composed of a large number of nodes, constituting a

Comparing Collins And Chandler s The Lady In The Lake
Collins and Chandler keep secrets from the reader throughout their novels in order to build tension,
mystery and atmosphere, however both use different styles to foreshadow this hidden information.
Raymond Chandler s Lady in the Lake was first published in 1943, one of many Phillip Marlowe
detective novels which are generally based around the themes of murder and mystery, which directs
the plot.
Willkie Collins wrote The Woman in White in 1859 when sensation fiction was highly popular.
Sensation fiction is based around themes of murder, money and identity, however this could also link
The Woman in White to detective fiction, as it uses Marian and Walter as amateur detectives which
allows Collins to keep secrets from the audience and reveal the truth at the end of the book. The
Woman in White was also published in sections, so secrets were used to build tension and create cliff
hangers that would keep the audience buying the next section.
In the extract from The Woman in White Marian has arrived at Sir Percival s home, Black Water Park,
and is exploring the grounds. Collins uses different narrators throughout the novel which creates
unreliable narrators and limits the amount of information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Marlow is talking to Bill Chess about Kingsley s cabin Chess describes it as first class which
implies Kingsley s wealth. However, the fact that he has a private reservoir in the hills suggests that he
uses his wealth to separate himself from the rest of society, which links back to the isolation of the
setting. On the other hand it could also suggest that he keeps himself secluded in order to keep his
money away from others which may imply that he is greedy, and untrusting. This in turn makes him a
suspicious character which links to the genre of mystery novels, and also adds to the theme of secrets
as it causes the reader to feel suspicious of him and view him as a possible threat and

Barack Obama Won The Presidential Election
On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama won the presidential election; Obama was sworn in as the 44th
president of the United States on January 20, 2009. Originally, Obama s health care plan did not
include a mandate and was criticized. In the Jan. 2008 presidential primary debate, his response to the
criticism was, A mandate means that in some fashion, everybody will be forced to buy health
insurance. Instead of going that route, his plan, he said, emphasizes lowering costs. ... the government
will compel you to buy health insurance. Elect me and I ll give you lower costs and let you keep your
freedom ... what s she not telling you about her health care plan? It forces everyone to buy insurance,
even if you can t afford it, and you pay a penalty if you don t. (Cline). At the time of his election,
voters were under the impression that Obama was against the idea of an individual health insurance
mandate. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in February of 2008, speaking of his opponent at the
time, Hillary Clinton, Obama states: she mandates that everybody buy health care. She d have the
government force every individual to buy insurance and I don t have such a mandate because I don t
think the problem is that people don t want health insurance, it s that they can t afford it...I focus more
on lowering costs...I could mandate everybody to buy a house, and that would solve the problem of
homelessness. It doesn t (Ballasy). Six months after Obama took office, he changed his mind

How Does Machiavelli s Use Of Violence
When we talk about the method of torturing in jail in ancient times, one of the most remarkable
countries is Florence, Italy. Florence is remarkable in a way of violence torturing. One of the most
violence method used in Florentine jail during the Renaissance was the Strappado, which can result in
dislocation of the shoulders and render one or both arms useless. It is remarkable that Niccolò
Machiavelli asked for pen and paper to write after he accepted such punishment. Niccolò Machiavelli,
the author of The Prince, has demonstrated the importance of violence in ruling the country.
Machiavelli has experienced violence in his life, therefore, it is distinctive that he includes a lot of
elements of violence when he talks about how to rule a country. Consider all these personal factors
from Machiavelli, I can suggest that the role of violence in securing the power of the ruler is important
because Machiavelli suggests that no people will obey on the ruler if he is not violence enough, his
subordinate will rebel the ruler if no violence applied and violence can protect the people in arms from
being killed.
First of all, the role of violence in securing the power of the ruler is important because Machiavelli
suggests that no people will obey on the ruler if he is not violence enough. In chapter XVI,
Machiavelli talks about the generosity and meanness that a ruler should have. He mentions if
generosity is practiced in such a way that you will be considered generous, it will harm

Affirmative Action Plan.
Affirmative Action Plan
Affirmative action is a plan to promote the efforts of employers, schools and other organizations to
recruit and hire groups that have previously been discriminated against. It is important to note that
affirmative action programs do not require employers to hire unqualified people for a job. Equal
employment opportunity is used to describe policies that prohibit discrimination of any kind.
Affirmative action is a program that analyses the make up of the current workforce, establishes
guidelines to insure an employer is not underutilizing certain groups and identifies and removes
barriers for employment. Equal employment is the legislation that provides the oversight and

It is important to tie the affirmative action objectives to an individual s performance and part of the
review process. This will ensure adherence.
6. The communication plan is another crucial part of the program and involves many steps. Employers
should get the word out that they are an equal opportunity employer. Communicating this message is
great publicity. Unless it is communicated effectively no one will know.
Communications must be used to promote implementation internally. Posters can be put up throughout
the facility or special edition newsletters to create enthusiasm for the program. The next level of
communication is to go out into the communities by placing advertisements in local papers, talks with
the local officials to gain support. Perhaps by establishing an arrangement to get applicant referrals
through various state agencies, college placement offices and labor organizations perspective
employees can be canvassed.
Develop the appropriate communication strategies to target the right candidates for openings. If
women are being sought after, then perhaps placing advertisements in a journal or periodical that has a
higher female readership.
Provide written notification of company affirmative action policy to subcontractors, vendors and
suppliers and make sure that the company is partnering with the right mix. Today it is very important
to align with other organizations that are minority owned.

States of Matter
States of matter are the distinct forms that different phases of matter take on. Historically, the
distinction is made based on qualitative differences in bulk properties. Solid is the state in which
matter maintains a fixed volume and shape; liquid is the state in which matter maintains a fixed
volume but adapts to the shape of its container; and gas is the state in which matter expands to occupy
whatever volume is available.
This diagram shows the nomenclature for the different phase transitions.
More recently, distinctions between states have been based on differences in molecular
interrelationships. Solid is the state in which intermolecular attractions keep the molecules in fixed
spatial relationships. Liquid is the state in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Solids can also change directly into gases through the process of sublimation.
[edit]Liquid
Main article: Liquid
Structure of a classical monatomic liquid. Atoms have many nearest neighbors in contact, yet no long
range order is present.
‎
The volume is definite if the temperature and pressure are constant. When a solid is heated above its
melting point, it becomes liquid, given that the pressure is higher than the triple point of the substance.
Intermolecular (or interatomic or interionic) forces are still important, but the molecules have enough
energy to move relative to each other and the structure is mobile. This means that the shape of a liquid
is not definite but is determined by its container. The volume is usually greater than that of the
corresponding solid, the most well known exception being water, H2O. The highest temperature at
which a given liquid can exist is its critical temperature.[5]
[edit]Gas
Main article: Gas
In a gas, the molecules have enough kinetic energy so that the effect of intermolecular forces is small
(or zero for an ideal gas), and the typical distance between neighboring molecules is much greater than
the molecular size. A gas has no definite shape or volume, but occupies the entire container in which it
is confined.

Chapter one of The Acts of Apostles starts off as describing how Jesus came down from the clouds
and spoke to the people of Jerusalem. Jesus gave the apostles specific commandments to follow. The
apostles questioned him right before he goes back into heaven, asking if he was going to restore the
kingdom back to Israel. Jesus indirectly told them that they would have to wait, and will know when
the time comes. Also, he mentioned whoever is baptized in the Holy Spirit would be given special
privileges. Peter, who was the replacement of Judas and a preacher, began to preach on what Jesus had
to offer to the people. The main points Peter was trying

The Civil Rights Movement Of The United States Of America
Until the 19th century, no abortion laws existed in the United States of America. By the 1880s, most
states had banned abortion except in cases where it was necessary to save the mother s life. The cause
of this shift in attitude can largely be attributed to the American Medical Association, founded in
1847. The organization wanted to stop unlicensed abortions by forcing the people giving them out of
business. Religious leaders supported the American Medical Association s move and worked with
them to lead campaigns that would make abortions illegal. It was only in the 1960 s that these strict
laws were reconsidered. The civil rights movement seeking equal treatment for black Americans led to
women s rights organizations seeing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Spinoza On Substance Monism
The stance that Spinoza has on substance is that there is only one substance, out of which all else is
somehow constituated. Substance for the Stoics, is also seen as a monist philosophy. Because Stoics
think of the world as a unitary system that contains all beings they should be considered substance
monism. This is often cited as the clearest example of how Spinoza was most influenced by Stoic
philosophy. However, Spinoza states that there is only one substance, but further from that, he
unambiguously signals that understanding it is a prerequisite to understanding the epistemological,
psychological, and moral issues where as for the Stoics this is not completely obvious; nor it is
obvious that they place substance at the basis of all philosophical investigation. From the Stoic view,
they do make philosophical investigation being with nature: we must first learn about it before we can
advance to logic and ethics. So upon initial thought, one might think although they may not call it
substance, the Stoics do have nature and its conceptual and argumentative status seems similar to that
of Spinozistic substance. Therefore, because the Stoics have a concept that is equivalent in key
respects to Spinoza s substance, the differences that I stated above may appear not so great after all.
What lies at the heart of Stoic monism is the intuition that the world constitutes a genuine and well
integrated whole, but by contrast, Spinozistic monism is held to be based on either

The History Of The Globe Theatre

Intro to theater

The History of the Globe Theatre Today we know of The Globe Theatre on because of the famous
playwright and director known as William Shakespeare. The events which took place in The Globe s
past and what is its future may be, have become, and will be, an important part of the history of theater
and drama. This paper will discuss the history of the Globe theatre, the importance it held at its time,
and the importance of The Globe Theater now and in the future.
In 1576, during the Elizabethan era, James Burbage and a partner went to a landlord, Giles Allen, to
lease some land for a theater. Giles and James agreed to a 21 year lease in which James would be
allowed to build his theatre known as The Theatre . It was located north of the London Wall
(Mabillard). Starting in 1596, when the lease for the land for the theatre was due to expire, there were
many legal issues between the landlord and tenant. There were also disputes between those involved
in running the business. James Burbage died in 1567 and he left his two sons, Richard and Cuthbert
Burbage, his shares of the theatre.(Globe) The Burbage brothers took an extreme action to protect
their assets because, as a result of the dispute, they were facing eviction. The landowner had hoped he
would be able to acquire the theater when the tenants left. (Shapiro) In December of 1598 while Giles
Allen was away on holiday, the Burbage brothers,

Health Information Security
Health information technology privacy and security standards are essential to maintaining
interoperability and security in the exchange of health information. Standards provide a common
language between different systems that need to share information (Himss.org, 2016). These standards
are relevant to healthcare providers to gain access to health records from another facility as to
streamline patient care. A more effective and efficient way for a provider to obtain information is to
have a provider log into a device to see results. In gaining access to health information, it is critical to
maintaining security. With easy access to information come concerns for securing that information.
Security standards provide protection over electronic protected health information.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted by Congress in 1996.
This Act requires regulations protecting privacy and security of health information. There are two
rules enforced by the Secretary of the U.S .Department of Health and Human Services. These rules are

Analysis Of Tabula Rasa By Robert Southey
What are little girls made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice, that s what little girls, are made of.
What are little boys made of? Snips and snails, and puppy dog tails. That s what little boys are made
of . Author: English Poet Robert Southey (1774 1843).
Tabula rasa this is how the educationalist John Locke, (1632) believed children were born, with a
blank slate beginning their lives morally neutral. He also wrote that the little and almost insensible
impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences. He argued that the
associations of ideas that one makes when young are more important than those made later because
they are the foundation of the self. Locke, (1632) also argued that because a baby s mind was so
malleable a parent could mould them with careful diligence. However Kohlberg (2004) was one of the
first theorists to address gender as a learned, cognitive concept. His thinking was influenced by Piaget,
who portrayed children as active learners who use interactions with their environment to construct an
understanding of the world around them (Piaget, 1961). Kohlberg believed that children s cognitive
understanding of gender influenced their behaviour (Kohlberg, 1981).
Walking into any new born infant s room you could almost certainly guess the gender of the baby just
from the colour of his or her clothes, blankets, and toys. Any infant surrounded by pink items is
virtually certain to be a girl, whereas a child

What Does It Mean To Say That Art Is A Lie
Pablo Picasso once said Art is a lie that brings us closer to the truth . From this statement a lot can be
interpreted leading to different ideas and I think most prominent is the relationship between art, the
truth and lies. Pablo Picasso makes two assumptions in his assertion, the first concerning the first
section which addresses the fact that art is a lie. The second assumption is made whereby art is given a
purpose brings us closer to the truth which creates a paradox that truth can develop and exist in a lie.
Furthermore his statement of the two contradictory suggestions leads us to understand that art is a
representation of the truth or truths and reality which are perceived by humans as lies. Art is a wide
and broad Area of Knowledge that incorporates a lot of art forms and a form that has dominated our
modern times is film. Taking this into account, Picasso s statement will be analyzed in relation to film

more deeper and bigger context. Leading to another question on the context of his statement. To what
extent does context affect our understanding of Knowledge? A very good example that reinforces this
is The Matrix , which is a well known movie series that greatly deals with the idea of perception vs
reality whereby people what people perceive to be the truth and reality is really just an illusion and

ODYSSEY which is a song based on the clash between two Gods Odysseus and Achilleus this piece is
only a stepping stone into what Greek music developed into as future civilizations came about.
Although this was early music Greek songs like this one are the ones that paved the way and made a

Institute of Accountants (AIA) created the first set of US GAAP standards in the 1930s. US GAAP is a
set of guidelines made to help publicly traded companies create their financial statements. The
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) serves a similar purpose, but has been globally
accepted. European companies first adopted IFRS in 2005, and by 2012 countries such as Japan,
Canada, and India had done the same. Since early 2010, FASB and IASB have been working together
to converge both of these accounting standards. The SEC has been on board, and although they have
not been successful yet, a Work Plan has been developed which lays out factors, which need to be
considered before transitioning into a new reporting system. The main topic for this paper is pension
and how both differ from GAAP and IFRS. In the research, it will mainly geared towards pension plan
and the benefits that differ between the U.S GAAP and IFRS. Through the research the main
information comes from the income statement of the company to identify the difference.
Motivation
The increasing numbers of multinationals, poor macroeconomic conditions and other factors have led
many US companies to consider a

Determination In Society Today
As Colin Powell put it wisely A dream doesn t become reality through magic; it takes sweat,
determination and hard work. Unfortunately though, it seems that in America countless people have
set aside the attributes of determination and hard work, and have taken up the unfortunate
characteristic of laziness and irresoluteness. In today s day and age, we have given ourselves over to a
lack of dedication and determination contrary to those who preceded us. If we do not fix this problem,
it will become greatly detrimental to the United States of America. All in all, Determination has
brought America through troubled times, stands as one of the most overlooked attributes in our
community today, and if practiced today has the chance to drastically ... Show more content on

Few people today show determination in what they do, however, those who do have great success. If
people today begin to show determination, dilemmas like the great increase of homelessness and
government housing will go drastically down. For example, Jeremy Lin, who now plays basketball in
the National Basketball Association for the Brooklyn Nets, throughout his life has shown great
determination not only in Basketball but also in other fields as well. After graduating high school with
an impressive 4.2 grade point average Jeremy Lin looked to find an athletic scholarship. However,
none came. Eventually he decided that he would go to Harvard and play basketball their while
recieving a solid education so that if Basketball didn t work out he would have somewhere to go. But
with hard work and much determination Jeremy became the first player in fifty nine years to graduate
from Harvard and go to the NBA. Now Jeremy Lin serves his community through the Jeremy Lin
foundation, a foundation dedicated to serving youths in his community. On the foundation s website it
gives a little explanation to why he does this Compelled by His relationship with Jesus, Jeremy Lin
founded the Jeremy Lin Foundation to love and serve children and youth, by providing hope,
empowerment and leadership development. Because Jeremy believes God first loved us, we have the
capability and opportunity to love

The Impact Of Modern Campaign Finance Laws On America
Campaign Finance
Introduction:
In 2011, two sociologists named Erik Olin Wright and Joel Rogers identified five core American
values: freedom, prosperity, efficiency, fairness, and democracy (Wright and Rogers). America s
numerous ideals inevitably cause these values to come into conflict each other. Such conflict
characterizes the debate over the implications of modern campaign finance laws in America. The
Supreme Court s ruling in Citizen s United v. FEC in 2010 undid former restrictions placed on how
money can be spent on federal political campaigns. Prior restrictions like the Federal Election
Campaign Act of 1971 and its amendments in 1974, placed limitations on political donations by
Political Action Committees (PACs), political parties, and even individuals. Originally these
restrictions were put in place to deter corruption that could undermine the democracy inherent in US
values and elections. The Supreme Court s ruling in 2010 revolutionized the scene by declaring that
independent expenditures are protected by the first amendment to the US Constitution. They further
asserted that for all intents and purposes corporations are legally viewed synonymous with people in
terms of political spending. The Supreme Court s ruling emphasized equality and freedom, but at what
cost? Critics, like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, suggest at the cost of democracy, and ultimately
corporate interests diminishing freedom in the long run. As a result of this case, more money is now

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Heating System
 Technology
 Heating system. It uses metallic element wires. The advantage of this system is that they can be
installed into woven or knitted materials for clothing application, not to mention insoles. Such thin
element wires have low thermal inertia so that they warm up rapidly and can be thermostatically
controlled. (Scott, 1988)
 Thermostat. The thermostat is a segment of the circuit that can control the temperature
automatically. There is obvious difference between the thermostat and the thermometer. Generally
speaking, all smart homes are installed with temperature controls on a wall to manage the heating
system using degrees Celsius as a unit; however, it s not simply a thermometer. In fact, the thermostat
is a word based on two ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aiming to provide warm feeling, there are heated insoles in the market already, yet there are much
shortcomings and disadvantages. Numerous heating devices, typically electrical and battery powered,
are known for heating ski boots and work boots to provide comfort to the wearer, who is required or
desires to be out of doors in cold weather for an extended period of time. While these devices have
been known for many years, they did not receive a warm response in the market, as many have
significant drawbacks and disadvantages. For example, some devices do not distribute the heat evenly,
so the skin of users may be scalded during in the process of using. In addition, many of these devices
do not provide a steadily continuous flow of heat, and consequently, the wearer s feet may feel
uncomfortable coldness or sudden overheat periodically. Moreover, these devices tend not to provide
any heat storage capacity. Some of the devices are out of battery just for two hours use. Finally, many
of these prior devices are relatively thick, complicated and expensive, which could not give customers
enough confidence and enthusiasm to try

A Brief Note On Tackle Complex Policy Issues
The most interesting part of the article to me is how it explains how to tackle complex policy issues
and exactly what the hardest problems are to agree on how to mitigate/combat most efficiently. The
paper discusses the most complex policy issues and their characteristics, how to tackle them with
possible strategies, avoiding the narrow approach and instead the need for flexible approaches, the
importance of working across organisation boundaries, reviewing the framework, effectively engaging
with stakeholders, and the importance of achieving behaviour change within the citizens. I have not
come across anything similar to this before, and so I feel indifferent towards the attitude of the paper; I
was neither surprised nor confronted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussion: Public transport services can have social and environmental impacts; these include air and
noise pollution, land disturbance (train tracks), and traffic congestion. According to the Australian
Bureau of Statistics (2003), there is concern that current technology for powering transport systems
may be unsustainable in the long term , which is why funding is needed to upgrade to renewable trains
and trams. Although public transport emits carbon dioxide (CO2), the emission is significantly lower
compared to private vehicles; public transport such as trains use 2%, whilst private vehicles (cars) use
43% (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2003).
Resources required: According to the Government of South Australia in Department of Planning,
Transport, and Infrastructure (n.d.), recent upgrades to one of the train lines to be electrified cost $2
billion. It is expected other lines will estimate to cost around the same budget.
Risks: The risks associated with this proposal revolve around political, legal, economic, and
environmental risks. Recently, Adelaide Metro employees were on strike due to low pay; if the
Government were to build more train tracks and improve the services by creating more routes, the
employees may go on strike again, creating a political and legal risk. An economic risk is

The Future of Outsourcing Essay
The Future of Outsourcing In this extremely technically diverse twenty first century, where businesses
have become able to meet more and more of the needs of people and other businesses, it is often
amazing to think of all the individually operating parts which together make the business a success.
Often if even one part of that great machine falters, progress is halted. Thus it is crucial to any
company to be as healthy and efficient as possible. As demands for flexibility for customers and
increased profit for administration continue to grow, more and more businesses are turning to
outsourcing for the creation of certain products and services. This is one way to alleviate pressure
from businesses workers, allowing them to do their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his enthusiasm about not being laid off, Joseph s workload had increased ten fold in response
to the company trying to sustain its present levels of product production and customer satisfaction
despite now employing only three quarters of the work force it formally had. Joseph is working longer
hours, thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep. His general impression of his job
(employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes to his decreasing quality of work.
Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who has a strong hand in how things work
at Microsoft) notices Joseph s declining quality of work and general unhappiness and decides to make
some changes. They decide to outsource many of the more menial jobs that were once performed by
lower level employees; those jobs which coincidentally now are the responsibility of Joseph. With
these other tasks taken care of elsewhere, Joseph is back to enjoying his job and designing some of the
highest quality product produced by the Microsoft Corporation. It is clear from this scenario how
employee satisfaction plays a large role in overall company efficiency as well.
When a business makes the decision to outsource there are numerous factions affected. First and
foremost is the person or team from within the company who are charged with the task of deciding
who they will choose to outsource them. They are termed the buyers . Being a buyer is perhaps one of

Why The US Should Put An End To The Refugee Crisis
Currently there is a refugee crisis . People from different places are fleeing their countries to survive
and escape the violence where they live. The best solution for this crisis would be for the U.S. to
accept refugees (way more than they already do) and help them out. There are many reasons why this
is the best solution. One of the reasons being that we shouldn t commit the same mistakes that we
have made in the past. Besides most people in the U.S already want to help. Refugees aren t even a
problem problem in the U.S.
During world war II, the U.S committed one of the biggest mistakes known in history, but it s not too
late we can learn from it and not commit the same mistake. According to the document titled The

To Donald Trump they are. According to a piece on CNN Donald Trump days that he s now more
against allowing syrian refugees into the U.S. than ever, warning it could be a way for terrorist to
sneak into the country we cannot let them into this country, period, Trump said monday. our country
has tremendous problems. We can t have another problem . One can agree that the U.S. does have a
tremendous amount of problems, but one can also agree that refugees aren t really one of them inside
the U.S.. According to the statistics on a table found on the website, Whitehouse.gov, zero syrian
refugees that have resettled in the U.S. have been arrested or removed on terrorism charges. These
statistics obviously show that the refugees that we have let into our country have not even caused one
single problem and what are we doing, we are just trying to kick them out. This also disproves the
statement that Donald Trump made about this being a way for terrorist to sneak into our

The KPIs must relate directly to the organization s stated goals. These are the metrics against which
the organization will be driven to perform in order to measure its success over time. For example, if
your organization s primary goals are to have the field engineer arrive at the customer site as quickly
as possible, complete the repair within the contracted time, and leave the customer completely
satisfied, then you will probably be looking at KPIs reflecting Average Time to Respond (AVR), Mean
Time to Repair (MTTR), and various other customer satisfaction metrics and indices.
How you will maintain performance under varying conditions and contingencies. Give specific
examples.
When we work at Fri Sat day night, we try to speak loud voice and
I ask my colleagues to speak slowly.
When we got some problems, such as customer complains. For example, one customer ordered one
fish chips. The special order from that customer was no chill, but one front staff didn t mention it to
us. So we served it normally than the customer complained it. We told the staff who got that order to
apology to the customer. We offered one soup to the customer during waiting new fish chips. As result
of that the customer accepted our prompted acts.
How, given your own personal strengths and weaknesses, you will capitalise on or minimise the effect
of these personal traits in your work plans.
My strengths is that I am hard working person so my head chef give me more

  • 2. Elizabeth Woodville And Anne Boleyn Women throughout history rarely receive attention for more than superficial causes: their influence on style, manners, or less. However, many women found themselves contributing to the formation of postmodern constructs of marriage for love, partnership, and fidelity. Foremost among these, temporally and popularly, are the examples of Elizabeth Woodville and Anne Boleyn. Undoubtedly, these cases hold great significance to cultural studies of the temporal periods in which the English identify as participants, but they also aid in seeing the eventual popular degradation of women from chaste matrons and aloof maidens to lusty bawds and traitorous whores. By this degradation and extensive primary sources, scholars can easily find these women as examples of the use of one s image for power in redefining concepts of queenship, and also women who set the standard to view the gradual combination of partner and lover in understanding social history. Aristocratic women in the Court system as a whole find relatively little attention by the most popular works on its culture. David Starkey , Alison Weir , and David Gunn , even though they offer insights on topic largely relegated to popular histories and romances; women, in fact, receive little merit for their Courtly careers. Yet, it is important to recognize that the late medieval and Tudor Court offered an increasing number of roles for women to fill, as well as, a semblance of stability. Unfortunately it is difficult being a Black male growing up in today s society because they are often perceived as fitting a negative labels or stereotypes, regardless if it is true or not. In order to prevent Black males from accepting the negative label or stereotype as and behaving in such a way, I believe it is important for Black males to be exposed to positive role models and influential people who will reassure Black males that the negative racial stereotypes and labels they hear are not true. Black males must also be aware of the negative labels and stereotypes associated with their gender and race, yet learn to ignore them and identify themselves based on who they truly believed they are, not who other people say they ... • 6. Extinction De-Extinction De extinction offers the possibility for extinct species to be brought back to life by reproductive cloning. Critics argue that de extinction will reduce the will of society to protect endangered species, as well as harm the existing ecosystem upon species reintroduction. However, supporters argue that many species would be great candidates for de extinction and will possibly be beneficial to the ecosystem. I will argue that de extinction should not be pursued. I will argue that reintroduction of unextinct species could cause humanity to become disinterested in protecting endangered species due to the loss of finality of extinction. Furthermore, re introduction of extinct species into ecosystems would negatively shift the balance, and may cause endangerment and potential extinction of otherwise unharmed populations. Some supporters of de extinction believe it to be reasonable for reviving recently extinct species as a last resort in their conservation. However, it is a common belief among critics that it is of greater import to protect endangered species and reduce human impact so as to prevent extinction. Shapiro, a supporter of de extinction, argues that de extinction should not compete for funding with measures for protection of endangered species. However, she argues that both extinct and extant species have valuable roles in maintenance of the ecosystem (2015, p. 195). • 7. Advertising and Behavior Control Essay In the article Advertising and Behavior Control there were many arguments for and against advertising. The first and the biggest problem Robert L. Arrington has against advertising is puffery. The reason/reasons why Arrington has a problem with puffery is due to the fact that the seller makes exaggerated, or suggestive claims about a product. His overall argument on puffery is that it isn t just bragging but it is bragging that is designed to persuade you to want the item or product being sold. The bragging goes so far as they convince the viewer (of the advertisement) they need the product. Puffery ultimately leads to manipulation, exploitation, and control over what people think of the product. Although Arrington has reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All in all, Arrington makes claims for and against advertising, and eventually comes to the conclusion that he does not know what is right. If advertising is indeed good or bad as he says on page 289 I do not pretend to have the answer. I only hope that the above discussion, in showing some of the kinds of harm that can be done by advertising and by indicating the likely limits of this harm, will put us in a better position to grapple with the question. In my own opinion I don t think that advertising should be controlled anymore than it is now. The Advantages and Disadvantages of Australian Aid Advantages and Disadvantages of Aid to Australia Geography Essay The purpose of Australian Aid is to help developing countries around the world eradicate poverty and to promote stability and prosperity both in our region and beyond, by providing different types of assistance and financial support. Therefore, the recipient countries over reliance on Australian aid money places a strain on the Australian economy, as well as the risk of witnessing a downfall of a nearby nation, which could result in the endangerment of Australia s national security. An additional advantage of aid is that it provides Australia with strengthened diplomatic, economic and political ties to the recipient countries. As Australia is a prominent aid donor in the Asia Pacific region, it has strong diplomatic ties with the developing countries of that area, and can therefore receive the benefits from such a relationship with these countries. An example of such a relationship would be the free trade agreements Australia signed with Singapore in 2003 and Thailand in 2005, Australia diplomatic relationship with these nations played a large role in the securing of these two agreements. Australia can also benefit from such a good relationship politically as the recipient country of Australian aid can support Australia s politics. A strong relationship with a recipient nation would also allow Australia to form economic bonds with the developing country, such as the agreement of tied aid money were the recipient must spend some of the aid money provided by Australia on Australia s goods and services, therefore strengthening Australia s economy. • 14. The Threat Of The Security Council ( Ips ) Is Of Paramount... The concept of threat to international peace and security (IPS) is of paramount importance for the UN collective security system. Article 39 determines the identification and removal of threats to peace as one of the most fundamental tasks of the UN Security Council (UNSC). Still, there is no clear and exhaustive definition of threat to IPS . In the first part of the essay, I will explain how the notion of threat to IPS has evolved after the end of the Cold War. Secondly, I will focus on the UNSC practice, on its unsolvable relation with the definition of threat to peace and on the possible challenges posed to the UNSC by the expansion of the notion. Finally, I will briefly take under examination the Gulf War case as a cornerstone in the concept expansion trend. Article 1(1) of the UN Charter sets the maintenance of international peace and security as one of the main purposes of the United Nations. With this objective in mind Article 24(1), in order to ensure prompt and effective action appoints the UNSC as the organ primarily responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security . However, the legal pivotal basis of the collective security system is represented by Article 39. Abstracts The uses of microcosm are resourceful in giving insight into the behaviors of larger scale systems. global warming is increasing at escalating rate and could affect ecosystems. Ecosystems are a very important part of humanity as they provide us with essential services to survive. It is important to know the factors that could affect this. The use of microcosm experiments can be used to give information into how ecological communities will be affected by climate change. INTRODUCTION With the reform and implementation of a new defined benefit public pension system, Indonesia seeks to achieve international standards when it comes to public pensions. A new 1st pillar earnings related defined benefit scheme named Jaminan Pensiun (JPN) was officially put into place on July 1st. With the exception of the non contributory zero pillar program, the implementation of JPN completes the Five Pillar Conceptual Framework suggested by the World Bank (World Bank, 2008). Improving the ISO Rating of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department Introduction In 2012, Insurance Services Office (ISO) conducted a review of the fire suppression capabilities of the Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department (CBFD). The resulting Public Protection Classification (PPC) was a Class 2. This classification puts the CBFD into the top 1% of the approximately 49,000 fire departments ISO reviews. In an effort to maintain the highest level of service to the public, the current fire administration has established an organizational goal of achieving a Class 1 designation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Background and Significance The Council Bluffs (IA) Fire Department was formed on January 5, 1883 by resolution of the city council to establish a full time, paid department. Prior to 1883, the citizens of Council Bluffs had been protected from fire by several different volunteer fire companies. The first such company, known as Hook Ladder 1, was formed after a conflagration destroyed most of the town on November 14, 1854 (Petersen, 1992). Between 1854 and 1883, the department grew in size, purchasing steam pumpers in 1868 and 1880. The city grew as well, expanding from a population of 2,011 in 1860 to 18,063 in 1880. In 1918, the firemen of the CBFD organized and became a charter member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), Local 15. This is an affiliation that the labor force of the CBFD still maintains today. On April 5, 1920, the CBFD began a two platoon system with day and night shifts. Ten new firemen were hired bringing the total staffing to 36 men working out of five stations. As the city continued to grow the fire department updated and broadened the footprint of its fire stations. In 1942, a new Fire Station 2 was built ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are some predominant principles that can guide the Army s efforts in minimizing the impact of uncertainty during the force reduction. Even with major political and legislative challenges, keeping balance among the different proportions of readiness is a goal of US defense policy. During the budgetary preparation, downsizing of the armed forces often becomes one of the first victims of fiscal reduction. This was true of the years between World War I and World War II, when the Great Depression made military preparedness a very low national priority. The Army s downsizing effect put its readiness ... Wong (2013) quotes the Army reduction as follows, One would be hard pressed to find anyone who would claim that the post Vietnam downsizing, typified by insensitive dismissals of combat veterans via pink slips accompanied by almost nonexistent transition assistance, is an example of a well executed reduction in force. The Army s success in battles becomes a product of its readiness, training, and equipment and of course its size. In the American history, the success of the first battles was a product of combination of all the mentioned factors and especially reduction of the military numbers. Due to the public s will and pressure for downsizing the force after conflicts and increasing the number right before the following conflicts, the will to repair the damage already done was almost obsolete. In his article, Dunn (2013) mentions, public reaction to the US first battles served as a catalyst for repairing the state of the Army . Noise Sensor Essay Abstract In this Paper, issues related to noise sensor application of instrumentation amplifier through substrate coupling in system on chip design are described and demonstrated including the physical phenomenon responsible for its creation, coupling transmission mechanism and media, parameter affecting coupling strengths and its impact on mixed signal integrated circuits. Basic aim is to find out magnitude of interference happening when analog and digital circuit is placed nearby on a common substrate. It has been design to have a broad bandwidth (1 KHz to 1MHz) with very high CMRR to cancel out the unwanted noise at its both inputs and deliver single output. MOSFET capacitors are used for the picking of substrate interference. Key words CMOS, , noise sensor, Substrate Coupling, Guard Banding. Comparing Collins And Chandler s The Lady In The Lake Collins and Chandler keep secrets from the reader throughout their novels in order to build tension, mystery and atmosphere, however both use different styles to foreshadow this hidden information. Raymond Chandler s Lady in the Lake was first published in 1943, one of many Phillip Marlowe detective novels which are generally based around the themes of murder and mystery, which directs the plot. Willkie Collins wrote The Woman in White in 1859 when sensation fiction was highly popular. Sensation fiction is based around themes of murder, money and identity, however this could also link The Woman in White to detective fiction, as it uses Marian and Walter as amateur detectives which allows Collins to keep secrets from the audience and reveal the truth at the end of the book. The Woman in White was also published in sections, so secrets were used to build tension and create cliff hangers that would keep the audience buying the next section. Solid is the state in which matter maintains a fixed volume and shape; liquid is the state in which matter maintains a fixed volume but adapts to the shape of its container; and gas is the state in which matter expands to occupy whatever volume is available. This diagram shows the nomenclature for the different phase transitions. More recently, distinctions between states have been based on differences in molecular interrelationships. Atoms have many nearest neighbors in contact, yet no long range order is present. ‎ The volume is definite if the temperature and pressure are constant. When a solid is heated above its melting point, it becomes liquid, given that the pressure is higher than the triple point of the substance. Intermolecular (or interatomic or interionic) forces are still important, but the molecules have enough energy to move relative to each other and the structure is mobile. This means that the shape of a liquid is not definite but is determined by its container. The volume is usually greater than that of the corresponding solid, the most well known exception being water, H2O. The highest temperature at which a given liquid can exist is its critical temperature.[5] [edit]Gas Main article: Gas In a gas, the molecules have enough kinetic energy so that the effect of intermolecular forces is small (or zero for an ideal gas), and the typical distance between neighboring molecules is much greater than the molecular size. The organization wanted to stop unlicensed abortions by forcing the people giving them out of business. • 34. Spinoza On Substance Monism The stance that Spinoza has on substance is that there is only one substance, out of which all else is somehow constituated. Substance for the Stoics, is also seen as a monist philosophy. Because Stoics think of the world as a unitary system that contains all beings they should be considered substance monism. This is often cited as the clearest example of how Spinoza was most influenced by Stoic philosophy. However, Spinoza states that there is only one substance, but further from that, he unambiguously signals that understanding it is a prerequisite to understanding the epistemological, psychological, and moral issues where as for the Stoics this is not completely obvious; nor it is obvious that they place substance at the basis of all philosophical investigation. From the Stoic view, they do make philosophical investigation being with nature: we must first learn about it before we can advance to logic and ethics. So upon initial thought, one might think although they may not call it substance, the Stoics do have nature and its conceptual and argumentative status seems similar to that of Spinozistic substance. Therefore, because the Stoics have a concept that is equivalent in key respects to Spinoza s substance, the differences that I stated above may appear not so great after all. What lies at the heart of Stoic monism is the intuition that the world constitutes a genuine and well integrated whole, but by contrast, Spinozistic monism is held to be based on either ... In 1576, during the Elizabethan era, James Burbage and a partner went to a landlord, Giles Allen, to lease some land for a theater. Giles and James agreed to a 21 year lease in which James would be allowed to build his theatre known as The Theatre . It was located north of the London Wall (Mabillard). Starting in 1596, when the lease for the land for the theatre was due to expire, there were many legal issues between the landlord and tenant. There were also disputes between those involved in running the business. James Burbage died in 1567 and he left his two sons, Richard and Cuthbert Burbage, his shares of the theatre.(Globe) The Burbage brothers took an extreme action to protect their assets because, as a result of the dispute, they were facing eviction. Tabula rasa this is how the educationalist John Locke, (1632) believed children were born, with a blank slate beginning their lives morally neutral. He also wrote that the little and almost insensible impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences. He argued that the associations of ideas that one makes when young are more important than those made later because they are the foundation of the self. Locke, (1632) also argued that because a baby s mind was so malleable a parent could mould them with careful diligence. However Kohlberg (2004) was one of the first theorists to address gender as a learned, cognitive concept. His thinking was influenced by Piaget, who portrayed children as active learners who use interactions with their environment to construct an understanding of the world around them (Piaget, 1961). Kohlberg believed that children s cognitive understanding of gender influenced their behaviour (Kohlberg, 1981). • 45. The International Financial Reporting Standards There have been plenty of debates surrounding the two type standards; on one side we have the United States General Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) which has always been used until now with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). A committee of accountants from the American Institute of Accountants (AIA) created the first set of US GAAP standards in the 1930s. US GAAP is a set of guidelines made to help publicly traded companies create their financial statements. The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) serves a similar purpose, but has been globally accepted. European companies first adopted IFRS in 2005, and by 2012 countries such as Japan, Canada, and India had done the same. Since early 2010, FASB and IASB have been working together to converge both of these accounting standards. The SEC has been on board, and although they have not been successful yet, a Work Plan has been developed which lays out factors, which need to be considered before transitioning into a new reporting system. The main topic for this paper is pension and how both differ from GAAP and IFRS. In the research, it will mainly geared towards pension plan and the benefits that differ between the U.S GAAP and IFRS. Through the research the main information comes from the income statement of the company to identify the difference. • 46. Determination In Society Today As Colin Powell put it wisely A dream doesn t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Unfortunately though, it seems that in America countless people have set aside the attributes of determination and hard work, and have taken up the unfortunate characteristic of laziness and irresoluteness. In today s day and age, we have given ourselves over to a lack of dedication and determination contrary to those who preceded us. If we do not fix this problem, it will become greatly detrimental to the United States of America. After graduating high school with an impressive 4.2 grade point average Jeremy Lin looked to find an athletic scholarship. However, none came. Eventually he decided that he would go to Harvard and play basketball their while recieving a solid education so that if Basketball didn t work out he would have somewhere to go. • 47. The Impact Of Modern Campaign Finance Laws On America Campaign Finance Introduction: In 2011, two sociologists named Erik Olin Wright and Joel Rogers identified five core American values: freedom, prosperity, efficiency, fairness, and democracy (Wright and Rogers). America s numerous ideals inevitably cause these values to come into conflict each other. Such conflict characterizes the debate over the implications of modern campaign finance laws in America. The Supreme Court s ruling in Citizen s United v. FEC in 2010 undid former restrictions placed on how money can be spent on federal political campaigns. Prior restrictions like the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 and its amendments in 1974, placed limitations on political donations by Political Action Committees (PACs), political parties, and even individuals. Originally these restrictions were put in place to deter corruption that could undermine the democracy inherent in US values and elections. The Supreme Court s ruling in 2010 revolutionized the scene by declaring that independent expenditures are protected by the first amendment to the US Constitution. They further asserted that for all intents and purposes corporations are legally viewed synonymous with people in terms of political spending. The Supreme Court s ruling emphasized equality and freedom, but at what cost? Critics, like Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, suggest at the cost of democracy, and ultimately corporate interests diminishing freedom in the long run. As a result of this case, more money is now ... • 48. Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Heating System  Technology  Heating system. It uses metallic element wires. The advantage of this system is that they can be installed into woven or knitted materials for clothing application, not to mention insoles. Such thin element wires have low thermal inertia so that they warm up rapidly and can be thermostatically controlled. (Scott, 1988)  Thermostat. The thermostat is a segment of the circuit that can control the temperature automatically. There is obvious difference between the thermostat and the thermometer. Generally speaking, all smart homes are installed with temperature controls on a wall to manage the heating system using degrees Celsius as a unit; however, it s not simply a thermometer. Numerous heating devices, typically electrical and battery powered, are known for heating ski boots and work boots to provide comfort to the wearer, who is required or desires to be out of doors in cold weather for an extended period of time. • 49. A Brief Note On Tackle Complex Policy Issues The most interesting part of the article to me is how it explains how to tackle complex policy issues and exactly what the hardest problems are to agree on how to mitigate/combat most efficiently. The paper discusses the most complex policy issues and their characteristics, how to tackle them with possible strategies, avoiding the narrow approach and instead the need for flexible approaches, the importance of working across organisation boundaries, reviewing the framework, effectively engaging with stakeholders, and the importance of achieving behaviour change within the citizens. I have not come across anything similar to this before, and so I feel indifferent towards the attitude of the paper; I was neither surprised nor confronted by ... Discussion: Public transport services can have social and environmental impacts; these include air and noise pollution, land disturbance (train tracks), and traffic congestion. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2003), there is concern that current technology for powering transport systems may be unsustainable in the long term , which is why funding is needed to upgrade to renewable trains and trams. Although public transport emits carbon dioxide (CO2), the emission is significantly lower compared to private vehicles; public transport such as trains use 2%, whilst private vehicles (cars) use 43% (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2003). Resources required: According to the Government of South Australia in Department of Planning, Transport, and Infrastructure (n.d.), recent upgrades to one of the train lines to be electrified cost $2 billion. It is expected other lines will estimate to cost around the same budget. Risks: The risks associated with this proposal revolve around political, legal, economic, and environmental risks. Recently, Adelaide Metro employees were on strike due to low pay; if the Government were to build more train tracks and improve the services by creating more routes, the employees may go on strike again, creating a political and legal risk. The Future of Outsourcing Essay The Future of Outsourcing In this extremely technically diverse twenty first century, where businesses have become able to meet more and more of the needs of people and other businesses, it is often amazing to think of all the individually operating parts which together make the business a success. Often if even one part of that great machine falters, progress is halted. Thus it is crucial to any company to be as healthy and efficient as possible. As demands for flexibility for customers and increased profit for administration continue to grow, more and more businesses are turning to outsourcing for the creation of certain products and services. Despite his enthusiasm about not being laid off, Joseph s workload had increased ten fold in response to the company trying to sustain its present levels of product production and customer satisfaction despite now employing only three quarters of the work force it formally had. Joseph is working longer hours, thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep. His general impression of his job (employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes to his decreasing quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who has a strong hand in how things work at Microsoft) notices Joseph s declining quality of work and general unhappiness and decides to make some changes. They decide to outsource many of the more menial jobs that were once performed by lower level employees; those jobs which coincidentally now are the responsibility of Joseph. With these other tasks taken care of elsewhere, Joseph is back to enjoying his job and designing some of the highest quality product produced by the Microsoft Corporation. It is clear from this scenario how employee satisfaction plays a large role in overall company efficiency as well. When a business makes the decision to outsource there are numerous factions affected. First and foremost is the person or team from within the company who are charged with the task of deciding who they will choose to outsource them. They are termed the buyers . • 51. Why The US Should Put An End To The Refugee Crisis Currently there is a refugee crisis . People from different places are fleeing their countries to survive and escape the violence where they live. The best solution for this crisis would be for the U.S. to accept refugees (way more than they already do) and help them out. There are many reasons why this is the best solution. One of the reasons being that we shouldn t commit the same mistakes that we have made in the past. Besides most people in the U.S already want to help. Refugees aren t even a problem problem in the U.S. During world war II, the U.S committed one of the biggest mistakes known in history, but it s not too late we can learn from it and not commit the same mistake.
