On September 24, 2016 I had the privilege of visiting the USS Midway Historical Museum. My
friend Michelle, who is also a CBU student, accompanied me while we explored this fantastic
site. I was recommended to tour the USS Midway by my German foreign exchange student who
was able to visit the attraction a couple weeks earlier. Niels emphasized how much he enjoyed
his visit and explained that it was a shame that I had not been there earlier, due to the fact that I
live so close to San Diego. It was Niel s advice, paired with my prior interest in the history of this
battleship that inspired me to finally see it for myself.
Michelle and I arrived on a beautiful San Diego day at North Harbor Drive near the Coronado
Broadway Pier. We parked somewhat far away because it was a busy day on the harbor. Walking
towards the ship, we witnessed street performers doing all sorts of entertaining things that created
a fun atmosphere. Some were blowing up balloons for kids, while others were playing their
instruments, filling the air with a sweet melody. Walking along this beautiful parkway, looking out
at the blue waters crashing against the docks, I could not help but realize how blessed and grateful

Waiting for Godot is known to be a classic example of Theater of the Absurd , drama using the
neglect of conventional dramatic form to portray the ineptness of human struggle in a
meaningless world. Director Judy Hegarty Lovett and actor Conor Lovett s Beckett work with
Gare St Lazare Players Ireland has gained them a reputation as two of the world s foremost
Beckett interpreters. Judy Hegarty Lovett and her husband, Conor Lovett, had a very successful
year in 2014. I was very interested to see if this director/actor power couple held up to all the
hype, and I was delighted to see such a strong performance by both. Conor, although working in
a lot of solo plays the past year, was a pleasure to watch, and well deserved his Stage award for
Acting Excellence, in 2014, for Title and Deed. Judy Hegarty did an outstanding job in the
production of Waiting for Godotwith the use of the simplicity of the character s needs, and subtle
comical nature.
Although reading this play was entertaining, it was a lot more eye opening in theaters. Throughout
director Judy Hegarty Lovett s enactment, I was able to uncover themes within the performance that
I was not aware of previously. With the help of absurdity and comedy, she effectively portrayed
themes of choice, time, and uncertainty.

Michigan. To examine hypotheses relating to the progression of succession through facilitation and
other species interactions and to examine how biotic and abiotic rigor change through time as
succession proceeds. To further examine these concepts, we have gathered and conducted five tests.
Our first experiment dealt with soildevelopment, to show how soil changes and developments have
advanced throughout the dunes. A second experiment has been taken to show the variations in
diversity among the five dunes. The third was to examine percent coverage amongst stages to see
how the species are influenced by their environment. A fourth to examine the proportions of grasses
and forbs to understand the properties of grasses on late succession. Last, we examined how counts
of focal species change with duneage among herbaceous species and woody species.
Results show that organic material increased among different stages of succession. When
measuring diversity, by the Simpson diversity index, D value in which it accounted for individual
s richness and abundance (evenness). With this, the results have shown an increase in diversity as
