The Laws That Sex Workers Really Want By Toni Mac
In The Laws That Sex Workers Really Want, Toni Mac discusses the reality of legalization in
regards to sex work and their effects. Mac s purpose is to show the audience the four legal
models that are being used around the world and demonstrate why they don t work. Then, explain
the model that sex workers themselves think would work best, decriminalization ( The Laws ).
She shares her own stories and experiences to help make her argument and to add to the
effectiveness of her use of the rhetorical strategies. She uses all three of them, at least to some
extent, but with a heavier focus on pathos and ethos over logos.
The speaker, Toni Mac, introduces herself as a sex workerand closes her speech by sharing about
her involvement in sex worker led groups like the Sex Worker Open University and the English
Collective of Prostitutes. Clearly, due to her close relationship with the issue, she is trying to
persuade anyone with an interest in human rights issues to support decriminalization. She explains
decriminalization as the removal of laws that punitively target the sex industry, instead treating sex
work much like any other kind of work. By treating sex work like any other profession, it takes
away many of the problems associated with it.
She begins by challenges each of the four legal models being used around the world today
including full criminalization, partial criminalization, the Swedish or Nordic Model and
legalization and how each of them causes harm. Then she

Observation of Sub-Atomic Particles
1.A) Part of the wave might penetrate it or it might not. This would be random and would depend
on the energy of the electron attempting to penetrate.
B) The pattern that initially seemed random would begin to acquire uniformity. Half of the
electrons would transmit and half would reflect and go back. Each of the electrons that transmitted
would carry its complete charge and mass.
C) One cannot say where the electron really is, whether a given electron will transmit or reflect. It
is only possible to state the probability of electrons actions. For example, one may say that the
probability is one in five that the electron will transmit and four out of five that it will be reflected
back.
D) Some physicists find the result difficult to accept because they perceive it as what Einstein
called God playing dice with the universe . The unpredictability inherent with this result and the
fact that it seems to contradict both Newtonian physics as well as reality, make it a less than ideal
paradigm for many physicists.
E) David Hume would have vehemently objected to my answer on part C). Hume s word view was
largely based on the belief that, to understand events in the universe, we must look to their cause.
This casual link is, therefore, disrupted under the conditions witnessed in the aforementioned
experiment, as we can see a cause but the result side of the chain is unknown.
2.A) Some Greek scientists based their opinion that the space between the earth and the planets and

Benefits Of Multiculturalism In Canada
Since the era of jetliners, firsts introduced in the 1950s, new interactions have resulted in a more
globalised world, which has increased relationship between the many countries and cultures. The
relationship between the countries makes cultural diversity even more important for Canada and
Ontario. Multiculturalism has some opponent; however, the positive benefits for Canadaand Ontario
are economic and cultural.
Opponent of multiculturalism argues that the policies promote the divisiveness of Canada and are
taking over land that should be available to all Canadians. The former Minister for Multiculturalism
and Citizenship states that opponent of multiculturalism makes immigrant hyphenated Canadian
instead of Canadian (Weiner, 1991). This happened when the Hindu community tried to build a
waterfront cemetery in the GTA. Finding a city willing to support the project was complicated
and they scouted as far as Niagara. They had little luck, until the Mayor of Pickering agreed to
have it built in a Pickering park, this luck dried up since Pickering council didn t give ... Show more

Contrary to the claim of the opponent that multiculturalism seeks to create hyphenated Canadian,
multiculturalism seeks the opposite, according to a former cabinet minister: it does so not to keep
Canadians apart from one another; it does so because a rich and broad cultural heritage is
something in which all Canadians share, individually and collectively [...] . (Weiner, 1991) Cultural
diversity does not weaken Canadian nor does it divide Canadian. Cultural diversity has benefited
since industrial lands have changed to be more welcoming. The construction of Pearson Airport has
led to major industrial development in Etobicoke, which changed with the Hindu temple, the only
non industrial building in that neighborhood. (Lista, p. 67) Canada has become more culturally
diverse since the introduction of new cultures and cultural

American Politician And Political Philosopher, John C....
John C. Calhoun was an American politician and political theorist from South Carolina during the
first half of the 19th century. His ideas about states rights and limited government led the state and
region towards session from the union infighting the civil war. John Caldwell Calhoun was born
March 18th 1782 in the Abbeville district which is now known as McCormick County. Calhoun
was the fourth child to Patrick Calhoun and his wife Martha Caldwell. At the age of seventeen
when Calhoun s father became sick he quit school and began working on the family farm. With
financial help from his brother he was able to eventually get the chance to begin attending school

Sand County Almanac Quotes
Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land... harmony with land is like harmony
with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left (Pg 189). In less than three
sentences, to me this quote summarizes everything that Leopold is trying to say in his novel.
Metaphorically, the quote is talking about two friends. In regards to the novel, Leopold is saying
that humanity cannot take and use the lands resources without making a conscious effort to
replenish them. The non fiction novel A Sand County Almanac written by Aldo Leopold
characterizes the importance in loving, caring and understanding our environment, land and
ecosystems that surround us. Leopold emphasizes the relevance there is for humans to be conscience

In the section The Land Ethic Leopold emphasizes the need for education, perhaps the most
serious obstacle impeding the evolution of a land ethic is the fact that our educational and
economic system is headed away from, rather than toward, an intense consciousness of land (p.
261). If people are not aware of the seriousness that comes with land conservation, then how are
they supposed to change the way they are acting? There is a necessary need for humans to be
conscience and aware of land use and its importance, but there is no way for this to happen
unless the youth are educated and they continue to educate for generations to come. I believe
Leopold is trying to say that those who understand the land are the ones who should be spreading
their education and knowledge to those who do not. Passing on this knowledge of land ethic is
crucial for the fate of the environment and Earth. Leopold expresses, a system of conservation
based solely on economic self interest is hopelessly lopesided, (p. 251). The self interest
economists who are only interested in the profit of which they gain from the land cannot spread the
importance of the respect for the community. The people who share a knowledge and passion for
the environment will educate those who are unaware. As well as being educated on the land, it is
essential for humanity to understand that we are not users of what Earth has to offer us, but
associates,

Summary Of Democracy In America By Alexis De Tocqueville
Alexis de Tocqueville s Democracy in America is a 1835 masterpiece about the growth of
democracy and the gradual disappearance of aristocracy. In attempts to help the French understand
the concept about this new form of government, he wrote the document talking about the New
World where the people rule instead of the nobles and kings. Two main differentiations are
discussed: selfishness versus individualism and aristocracy versus democracy.
The first idea that he compares is selfishness and individualism. In the very beginning of chapter
two, Alexis de Tocquevilledescribes how it is that in ages of equality [democracy] every man seeks
for his opinion within himself . In other words, the equality involved in democracy has influenced
the idea

Army s frequent interventions have never given chance to flourish democracy in our country.
Our political leaders are also responsible for this situation because our leaders focus on personal
or vested interests instead of national interests. They have always tried to achieve their vested
interests in the garb of politics. They have never respected the norms of democracy. That s why
our country has failed to develop healthy political institutions and lasting democracy. 2. Law and
Order There are lot of problems regarding law and order. Terrorist attacks create uncertainty in
stock markets and people earning from stock are getting loss due to which the whole country
faces uncertain increase in commodity prices. 3. Unemployment Pakistan is poorly faced with the
problem of unemployment. The existing unemployment rate is 15%. Thousands of young
doctors, engineers and other educated people are out of job. There are no opportunities for youth
to utilize their capabilities or abilities in right direction. Pakistan is facing the problem of brain

Pros And Cons Of Being An American
Being an American today should be looked upon an honor and a privilege. Being an American
you can witness what 9/11 was all about and how it all came apart from there. It s harder now to
see how we are still standing and how we overcome all these problems that are out there. We are
still recovering from all that was broken all around us.
It s harder nowadays to achieve the American dream because of the cost of our education and
health care. People nowadays don t have enough money to pay for health care or child care. Now
we are still struggling with trying to not be bankrupted and keeping kids in schools without the
pursuits. The poor have to homeschool their kids and don t have the money for all the health
payments.
American s today are working more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of waste that s produced by the lack of concern for the environment is huge. We as
Americans don t see it as a total problem because we re doing different things that we don t pay
attention to. We as people need to learn the concept of not wasting anything to harm the people and
other things around us.
Being Americans, we, get choices rather than having to be told how to live. We get to choose
our schools, churches, religions, careers, etc. We don t have to be slaves in the 1800 s. We get to
do whatever we desire and get to do whatever we want without anybody telling us what to do. As
Americans, we, get to live in whatever way we need to in order to be successful in ways nobody
can imagine.
Today in order to go to college most kids have to take out student loans in order to get a degree.
But paying off those loans before you do becomes a greater achievement.
We might not have the money to go to college and then become poor or having a rich life. We
shouldn t have to pay thousands of dollars to go to college or the poor don t have enough, why do
they still have to get the money? We should get in with no charge no matter

The Importance Of Pressure On High School Sports
Pressure and High School Sports seem to go hand in hand these days. Whether we like pressure
or not, it is difficult to avoid. We experience pressure because of standards that others expect us to
accomplish. While some people may do well under pressure, many of us do bad under pressure.
The Kimberly Girls Volleyballteam will experience a lot of pressure as they head into the State
tournament this weekend. Expectations are very high for them because they have had a lot of
success so far this season. I talked to a girl who is currently on the varsity volleyball team that is
going to state. Payton is not a starter and doesn t get to see the court often but she is just as
important as anyone else on the team. She discussed with me some of the expectations that coaches
and fans have for them. Every game our coach always tells us not to be satisfied, and that s kinda
our team moto. I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches is to not be satisfied with a
win or how we played just to always make it better. I believe the expectation from the fans is just to
stay positive and work as hard as we can.
With expectations high from the coaches and fans, this can add a lot of pressure and stress onto
the girls. As Payton said, I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches it to not be
satisfied with a win or how we played just to always make it better, we can see how they are
pressured to win again because they can t be satisfied with winning one game. They have
expectations to make it far in their season because they are not satisfied after one game, they want
to win more and be number one.
I also talked to a fan, Quinn Johnson, and asked what he thought the pressures were on the girls
this year. He replied with: I think this season the pressures are there own standards. Last years
team was not as good so other teams and fans did not expect so much out of them. But after we
won the FVA this year and got the #1 seed for the playoffs more pressure was added to the team
coming into playoffs. This helps to see from a fan perspective what they believe the pressures are
and what they expect the girls to accomplish this season.
As you can probably see, with the girls success this year they

Essay #3: Cookies are widely used to track consumers and profile their preferences and interests.
Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the use of cookies for both businesses and consumers.
Introduction:
Cookies have become an online phenomenon. They have many benefits and drawbacks for both
businesses and consumers in modern society. Everyone that has access to the internet, a phone or

implementation of cookies on their virtual profiles. Cookies are controversially beneficial to
businesses more so than consumers; however, consumers do get suggestions/advertisements of the

Consumers often use a search engine such as Google to browse for content that applies to their

Women s Influence Of Women In The Renaissance
The Renaissance is defined most simply as a time period of societies renewed interest in the
importance of art, education, literature and architecture. These ideals inspired many people to make
advancements in these fields and make their mark on history. Before the Renaissance began,
women were shoved into the background; they were not given many opportunities to lead their own
lives. This reform movement guided women away from the oppression of societal norms and
allowed them to form their own personas by becoming inspiring authors, arguing for their equality
to men, and using the societal situations to become inspirations to others.
In society in the 1300 s, women had integral parts in the running of a family and household. They
cared for the children and visitors, while also looking after their husbands accounts. This meant
that women were expected to keep themselves out of the public eye and behave according to their
social class. In the online article it is stated that, First a woman was a daughter and then a wife,
mother, or widow. In contrast, male roles were generally defined by social position or occupation (
Women In The Renaissance and Reformation ). This proves that women were held to certain
expectations and standards. These standards kept women under the control of supreme male
authority and did not give them the freedom to lead their own lives. Women were silenced before
the Renaissance period. Society told women they were to be respectful daughters and

Persuasive Essay About My Best Friends
Making never thought to be friends. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever be
friends with Julie. I have never seen her in 2 years and suddenly we re best friends. Goes when
we never saw each other, she ran away, the carnival, and the movies. First, when I first started
going to my grandmother s when I was 9. My aunt Jessica still was friends with my grandmother
albeit she is her daughter. So I would come over to their house. I never talked to Julie so I didn t
know much about her. I would usually play with Jacob or Jami. One day when Jessica s
husband, Josh left, Jami at the park by herself, and someone calls Child Protective Services on
them and we don t know who, but they said that my grandmother called. Now I know for a fact
that she didn t and whoever said she did is lying. Jessica was enraged by this and never talked to
my grandmother once. So I never was allowed to see that part of the familyoften. When Julie was
younger, she believed in that grandmother was in the wrong. (Complex)
Second, once Julie turned 18 she escaped out of the house with barely anything of hers. She was
not treated well in that house. After 2 years, she found love for my grandmother. (Complex) She
went to my grandmother s to have a place to stay, she had her a boyfriend Kyle is staying with her.
She is staying there for how long, I don t know. When I went there for the summertime like I
conventionally do. I said hi to her, so casually we became friends. She brought me to drive to the
movies with her boyfriend and his acquaintances. It was an ok movie but it wasn t that terrific.
Third, we are fairly proximate friends now she by chance will bring me places with her. Where
we customarily drive was Jewel Osco, which is like 10 minutes away from my grandmother s.
She usually goes there like every other day, but not when the car has no gas. (Compound) She

time. (Compound) The last time I went there It was just us so it was fun. She bought tickets for

The Impact Of Overfishing On The Environmental Balance
As far back as the history of man, humans have been dependent on the ocean and water resources
for food and survival. While hundreds of years of single handed fishing rods in coastal and
inland water channels have not alone been the root cause of overfishing, these common
practices today still impact the environmental balance. Ocean overfishing is the removal or
taking of wildlife from the oceans and seas at rates too high for fished species to replace
themselves and is a threat that exists to our way of life. Overfishing can occur by commercial
fishing, single person excessive fishing in a particular area of a body of water, or by other natural
predatory activity. A recent report by scientists said that if commercial fishspecies the fish caught
for food continue to decline at the current rate, by the year 2048 most commercial fish species
will be in danger of never recovering because of the break in the natural ecosystem which would
affect the diversity of wildlife in the ocean (Kurlansky, 2011). As a humanspecies, we are
responsible for educating each other on this worldwide concern to help save our planet. If this isn t
a reason to begin efforts of worldwide education on overfishing, what is? The impact of overfishing
has long term consequences on the human race and the animal population as it threatens our
biological balance and our ecosystem. The good news is that there are currently organizations,
governments and entities working hard to make a

Human Resource Management At A Large Business
Introduction
Good afternoon and welcome everyone my name is Will Bird. My authority for being able to
address you today is that I am the Human Resource Manager of a large business called Achieving
better people management . The main content in Human resource management that I will be
covering is the recruitment stage.
What is HRM?
Well what is Human Resource Management; it is the management of the employee relationship that
covers establishing, maintaining and terminating employment.
Why is it Important?
Human Resource Management is very important in an organisation/business, human resource
managers will hire, train and develop employees to try and achieve full potential by motivation, this
is important by achieving the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Induction:
An induction programme is the process used within many businesses to welcome new employees to
the company and prepare them for their new role. Human Resource Managers should provide the
new employee with necessary and important information about the business. The induction process
is the first step in building a relationship between you and the new colleague/s.
Why is Recruitment Needed?
Recruitment is tremendously important in any organisation, but recruiting new staff is very costly
and can take time. Recruiting in most businesses can go wrong dramatically; this is because the
process of hiring is not followed correctly. Once the process of identifying that there is a vacant
spot the recruitment stage will perform. Recruitment is usually needed because new skills are
needed or the business is ready to expand internally.
Job analysis attraction and development:
The job analysis is where the Human Resource Manager has identified the duties and
responsibilities, nature of the jobs, to decide qualifications, skills and knowledge to be considered
for that particular job. The job analysis helps to understand what tasks are important and how they
are carried on. This step also forms a basis for later HR activities such as developing effective
training programs, selection of employees, assessment of employees (performance

Personal Reflection On Officership
Personal Reflection
Who were you before entering as a Cadet in CFOT? I am a mother of a thirty year old daughter,
was a wife, registrar and ambulance coder, administration assistant, medical biller/coder. Also, I
was also the Sunday school teacher and Sunbeam troop leader in my home Corps. The journey to
Officership was long and a disobedient one, I was called at the age of eighteen, but I did not want
that kind of responsibilities. Growing up in the Salvation Army, I did not see anything positive being
a Salvation Army officer due to the fact they wear many hats. It was not a glamorous career to
choose, it a calling and you have to be willing and obedient. So I stay clear from the word
Officership until I met an officer and his family that would change my life. My goals of becoming
a singer took a back burner after becoming tangled with this family. The Lord also blinded me
while I was driving to work, and take there without being in an accident. However, this was the
push that gives me the motivation to say yes to Officership after twenty three years of
disobedience. He showed me he could lead me blindly if I would just go and trust him.
How did you change/grow in CFOT? College for Officer Training was not overwhelming for me
because I was prepared to welcome all the challenges ahead of me. My heart and soul were into
what lies ahead of me, I change and grow when I started trusting the Lord more. More so, I learn
to be humble and to have patience with everything that comes my way. The things struck me
most during the two years at College for Officer Training was, that individuals who supposed to
be Christian and in training to become leaders lack integrity. I ask myself this question how
could this be, and how are they going to lead people to Christ as an Officer and Pastor. This
learning experience bothers me for a while, but I gave it to God in prayer and focused on why I
was at CFOT.
What are you learning now as you are in the field as a Salvation Army Officer? Working in the
field as an officer is entirely different from what I was taught in Training College. More so, my
appointment came without any type direction or someone there to help me transition. More so, I
had to figure out

This experiment was started with a clear solution of sodium benzoate and HCl was added to it,
ultimately producing benzoic acid. First, .3395 g of sodium benzoate was weighed, then it was
dissolved in water, causing it to disassociate into ions. Next, 3M of HCl were added drop wise to
the solution until it reached a pH of 2, thus introducing the hydronium ion. This addition caused a
white, solid benzoic acid to precipitate out of the solution. A vacuum filtration system was used to
separate the solid from the liquid. What was once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once, the precipitate was ready to be placed in the oven there was not enough time to allow for it
to dry for 10 minutes. The precipitate was only in the oven for about 5 minutes, therefore, when
weighed there was excess liquid in the precipitate. The final weight of the precipitate was .45 g
which was more than the amount that was started with. From this end weight, it can be deduced
that there was excess liquid in the end result.
Post Lab: 1. The experiment began with a clear solution of sodium benzoate, once 3 M of HCl
were added to achieve a pH of 2, the clear solution became a precipitate. Sodium benzoate was
water soluble, but the yield of benzoic acid became quite insoluble in water.
3b. Although, a low amount of HCl was used, the waste can still cause health risks and risks to the
environment because it was not just one person doing the experiment, therefore increasing the
waste of HCl. Water was also used to wash the vial to remove all solids that might be sticking to
the side of the vial, therefore, wasting water, which is not green.
4. If you start adding NaOH to the solution in small amounts, NaOH neutralizes part of the HCl,
(moles of HCl to moles of NaOH) so the pH begins to increase slowly, this raises the soluability.
This allows for the equivalent point to be reached: moles of HCl = moles of NaOH. By continuing
to add the NaOH, pH will

The Man Nobody Knows
The Man Nobody Knows 7/17/01 The author of this book Bruce Barton was a partner in a
successful advertising firm during the 1920 s. This was a time when the industry of advertising
was under going some major changes. These changes had a lot to do with a number of factors the
first of which being the post war prosperity this meant people had more money than they ever had
before. Another one of these factors had to do with the high number of teens who were now
attending high school, this proved to be important because it created a whole other market which
hadn t existed before. One more factor was the advances made in transportation and communication,
these advances allowed goods, people, and information to travel long distances... Show more

Still another thing I noticed was Barton s use of a parable. Barton could have just came right
out and said, В‘I think Jesus had a lot of qualities a business man should have, and in this book I
plan to point these qualities out, but instead he tell us the story of how he came to write the
book. The story manages to catch the reader s attention, and allows us to relate to his
experiences in a way that simply telling us his intentions would not have done. This brings me
to my next point in giving us something to relate to Barton has not only caught our attention but
also demonstraight his sincerity by relating to us on a personal level. All of these characteristics
would be Characteristics of a good ad in Barton s eyes. In the rest of this book Barton looks at
Jesus the business man and not Jesus the sun of god. He did this by quoting parables from the
Bible and using them as examples of Jesus good business methods. He takes this comparison as
far as to call the apostles adman selling faith. In conclusion Bruce Barton s book The Man Nobody

The Policy Instruments And The International Monetary Fund
Consensus, general agreement among policymakers and scholars, is a difficult task to achieve;
however, John Williamson in 1990 claimed that Washington based institutions such as the United
States Government, think tanks, and the International Monetary Fund had formed a general
consensus regarding economic development polices in Latin America (Williamson 1990). He
outlined a framework and described ten policy instruments that policymakers agreed were necessary
to aid developing countries. The ten reforms that he mentioned included: fiscal discipline, public
expenditures focused on health, education, infrastructure, tax reform, liberalized interest rates,
competitive exchange rates, free trade policies, privatization, liberalization of... Show more content

However, I will maintain that the Washington Consensus is the combination of neoliberal policy
preferences, which essentially is the harnessing the power of markets which was implemented by
international financial institutions during the 1980s and 1990s (Birdsall 2010 pp.6 ). Additionally,
to measure the success of the consensus it is proper to measure the economic growth and the poverty
rates in the region of Latin America because this is the same region Williamson first noticed the
Washington Consensus. In short, while the Washington Consensus may not be used in the same
manner as Williamson intended it to be, the Consensus has failed to help developing economies
grow measured by GDP growth and hasn t reduced poverty. It is safe to say there is no longer a
consensus among development policies; however, certain policy preferences and the end goal
integration in the global economy will still be found in the next consensus regarding economic
development (Nankani 2005 pp. xii). Additionally, from a theoretical level, the Consensus has failed
to recognize the diverse problems of each nation state, and various other factors such as the lack of
institution building.

discourse regarding the correct definition of the

Karl Marx, a German philosopher, is known for his revolutionary political ideas during the Russian

Bolsheviks were members of a section of the Russian Social Democratic Worker s party. The
section was led by Vladimir Lenin, who helped the group seize control of Russia, beginning the
Soviet Union. Bolsheviks were founded when supporters of Lenin fought for restriction of
membership to professional revolutionaries, and won. They maintained a highly consolidated, well
ordered, and professional party. The group became gradually popular among workers and solders
after Lenin demanded peace and insisted that the soviets, worker s councils, should be in power.
This rise in popularity is what drove the Bolsheviks to take over the Russian government and set a
dominant power, the Soviet Union.
Czar Nicholas II was the last supreme leader of Russia. He was opposed to any and all social
reform and stood rooted in his traditional principles. He was considered an incompetent leader,
forcing outdated policies upon the Russian people, especially since he ruled during such a
revolutionary time. His neglect of the Russian citizens and their needs is what established the
beginnings of the revolution. In 1917 he was ousted and went into exile.

knew I would go, even if I was the only one. Attending Triennium the summer preceding my

confidence and opening up. Being dropped in a room with twenty five strangers, all of which
whom are older than I was, was beyond frightening, but that is how my experience at Triennium
began. Not only did everyone around me look and act different but they also talked differently;
at least I was told that I talked differently than they did. Towards the beginning of the week, being
labeled as different made me not want to talk. I stayed quiet for most of the week when I was in a

Democracy Is Not A Democratic State Essay
It is often misinterpreted, the fact that the greatest nation on Earth, the United States, is governed as
a democratic state. Democracy is basically having control of an organization or group by the
majority of its members; however, this is not the case when addressing the United States. In fact,
this country is not a democratic state, but a constitutional republic. It is an enormous difference
when brought to light, since democracydoes not really protect minorities, but expands power for
the majority. On the other hand, a constitutional republic is when a head of state and other officials
are representatives of the people, elected by them. These representatives are expected to perform
their duties in the best interest for the people; it also separates power into three branches known as,
judicial, legislative and executive. Having this in mind, citizens of the United Statesrecognized their
country as a freedom nation, internationally; a lot of historians and politicians might share the same
opinion. Unfortunately, the government has been drifting away from its original purpose, to serve
and protect individuals before the majority s interest. When it comes down to deciding whose rights
should trump the others, majority or minority, there is absolutely no doubt, that minorities hold the
title, since it addresses individual basic rights that contribute progress to the community to further
evade a violation of basic rights towards any individual.

are some other perks short people can appreciate. 1. Literally Not Having One s Head in the

Extra Space/Room to Stretch Out Tiny people don t feel cramped riding in coach on an airplane,
and some can curl their legs up under them in office chairs at work. Sometimes, it s just more
comfortable to sit that way, especially if the office is cold. And, it may be a bit of a challenge,
but smaller folks can change clothes in tiny cars and pickup trucks. An example of this being
useful is when you arrive at the beach in jeans but want to change into shorts for a jog. Instead
of having to switch clothing in a gross public bathroom, changing in the car is a more convenient
option. 3. Better Hiding Spots/Getting Into Tight Spaces You never know when an impromptu
game of hide and seek could arise. Or when you might have to hide from an axe murderer. The
smaller you are, the tighter the spot you can fit into. 4. Always the Right Height Means Never
Intimidating A petite woman can wear the highest heels and never worry about towering
awkwardly over her man. Instead, she feels feminine and attractive standing next to him. Further,
she and her mate will never fight over t shirts or jackets, as hers will be much too small for him. 5.

In 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered. During that era, [t]he implication for
women was that work outside the home was a stage, not a right, and that the mature woman
belonged at home (Strom 363). Women worked only until marriage and then they dedicated
themselves to their husbands and children. Snow White personifies this role. She is adventurous
and self sustained after she runs into the forest, and helps the dwarves with housework, yet she
desperately waits for the moment a prince will save her. In that era, [w]omen saw themselves as
powerless in the world outside the home, and they relinquished any notions of rebelling against
male coworkers or bosses in order to inherit their traditional authority at home as wives and
mothers (Strom 359). We can see this in the film when Snow White is powerless while running
through the forest, but becomes an authority figure once she is at the dwarves home. Once the
prince saves her, she becomes powerless, fully dependent on him, and no longer has to worry
about sustaining herself. Her stepmother, on the other hand, does not have a prince to depend on,

Essay Safety Problems In Americas Commercial Airline...
1989 has been a year in which both aviation experts and spokesmen. For the flying public have
expressed intensified concern over what they perceive to be a substantial deterioration in the
safety of America s passenger airline operations. In the first nine months of 1989 alone, there have
been ten fatal air crashes involving large transport category planes owned by U.S. based carriers
(Ott p.28). This compares disfavorably to the first nine of months of 1988, when but two such
accidents took place, and in fact, it is the highest number of death causing accidents for the
American commercialaviation industryduring the 1980s (Fotos p.31). This spate of airborne

On the whole, it is, in fact, comparatively safe to fly, and even with 1989 crash incidents added to
the aggregated figures, flying is no more dangerous today than it was prior to deregulation.
The Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation SafetyBoard and an array of
independent air safety experts have all probed this year s major airline accidents. Despite all of
post hoc study, they have been unable to discern a common link among them, (Ott p.28) with one
major exception. The qualification at hand refers to dramatic increase in the volume of air traffic
since de regulation. According to NTSB member John Lauber, if there is a trend in accidents, it is a
trend set by the increasing volume of air transport operations rather than any fundamental
deterioration in the margins of safety (Ott p.28). At first glance, this argument is comforting: more
flights in the air simply result in more accidents commensurate with higher traffic volumes, so that
the impact of de regulation has had only the broadest and most indirect influences upon the
industry s safety record. But to ascribe the recent rash of safety problems to the neutral effect of
higher traffic volume in the wake of de regulation and leave it at that overlooks several critical
points. For example, to remain competitive, many airlines schedule flights in clusters for the
convenience of their passengers. This, in turn, as Rudolf

Social Norms And Religion
Cultural norms define what part of ourselves we put forth for society to view. We are told what is
appropriate to tell others and what we should keep between the walls of our home and our family
life. Religion and spirituality are the biggest concepts that society views as taboo in the public
sector. Although most people have some sort of spirituality, the conflict that arises when religionis a
topic of conversation has made it so faith, similar to politics, becomes forbidden by social norms.
It is viewed as irrational, subjective, and distinct from the rest of the world, and the principles of
it cannot be applied in public life. Religious faith is viewed as something separate from the
rational world. Our societal norms say that the rationality needed for the real world cannot coexist
with the subjectivity of religious faith. Although it answers its own questions, it cannot solve
problems that require the logic and rationality of the real world. Religious faith as seen more as a
way to express oneself, not something that can be applied to the public sector of life.... Show more

A Few Miles South Of Soledad, The Salinas River
A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep
and green. The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the
sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve
up to the strong and rocky Gabilan Mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees
willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the
winter s flooding; and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over
the pool. On the sandy bank under the trees the leaves lie deep and so crisp that a lizard makes a

evening, and the damp flats are covered with the night tracks of coons, and with the spread pads of
dogs from the ranches, and with the split wedge tracks of deer that come to drink in the dark.
There is a path through the willows and among the sycamores, a path beaten hard by boys
coming down from the ranches to swim in the deep pool, and beaten hard by tramps who come

With this backdrop, the British drew the primary role in the invasion with the Americans relegated
to protecting their flank. To add confusion and lack of clarity in the plan, General Alexander did
not plan for any objectives beyond the initial invasion, preferring to wait until forces were ashore.
This failure of leadership on the part of Alexander and lack of decisive guidance left the field
commanders without clear objectives and contributed to the mistrust of both their commander as
well as each other. Guidance as simple as locate the German Army in your zone and destroy them
would have contributed much to alleviate the lack of trust, at least with the higher echelon of

As a primary tenet of Mission Command, understanding allows the field commander to assess what

In most cases when we get into trouble we see Dr. Pittman. When you get in trouble a lot Dr.
Pittman can be very lucid sometime, but you have to ameliorate your actions. When you got to see
the superintendent that usually means that you are in a lot more trouble because he is eminent.
They have several disciplinary action, but when you do something like getting into a fight with
someone they most times give you Out of School Suspension.
Getting disciplined all depends on what you do. When you do something that is minor you will
have and admonish conversation most times. When Dr. Pittman is talking you she will be
forward, so it will be important that you are temperate. If you do something really impermeable
you will most likely get OSS. When some kids see Dr. Pittman the students go berserk, so then she

Once reunited, they hide from the soul patrols in search cars and helicopters, allowing The Host to
live in Melanie s body, as she is causing no harm, until they can find an alternative body.
Andrew Niccol co wrote the script with Stephanie Meyer. His films ground rules limit the depth
and variety of possible relationships, and The Host is top heavy with profound, deep
conversations, all tending to sound like farewells. This movie really opens your eyes to how two
beings, completely opposite to each other, can form a bond and friendships stronger than any other.
And it makes you wonder why, in society, racism exists at all. If two creature nothing alike can find

The Handmaid s Tale Essays
The Handmaid s Tale
The Handmaids Tale, written by Margaret Attwood, goes on to explore the consequences that
come to be from the reversal of womens rights in a society called Gilead. It is what one can
consider a cautionary tale. In the new world of Gilead, a group of conservative religious
extremists have taken power, and have turned the sexual revolution upside down. The society of
Gilead is founded on what is to be considered a return to traditional values, gender roles and the
subjugation of women by men, and the Bible is used as the guiding principle. It differs completely
from the society, which was once the place in which Feminists argued for liberation from the
traditional gender roles. What women had worked hard for in the ... Show more content on

This ritual clearly shows how Offred is given no freedom and is instructed in everything that she
does. Along with her impersonal sex, Offred is limited in her contact to the outside world. She is
only allowed to leave the home in order to go on shopping trips with the other handmaids, and when
she is out in public, she along with the other handmaids, are watched by the Eyes. The Eyes are
the secret police force within Gilead. Their purpose is to observe every move that is made. She is
also never to have complete privacy in her room, the door must remain somewhat open at all times.
Offred narrates by describing her daily routine, in which she talks about her new life in Gilead.
Often times she slips into flashbacks and glimpses of what her life once was. In the society
previous to Gilead, Offred had engaged in a situation, in which she had an affair with a married
man by the name of Luke. As their affair continued on, Luke left his wife in order to marry
Offred. Once Luke and Offred were together they had a child together. Offred reveals the events
that led up to the society of Gilead through her flashbacks. From the narrative unveiling of events,
Offred explains to the reader that prior to Gilead, the society was one in which pornography was
readily available, pollution and other hazardous waste spills affected fertility rates, and prostitution
was prominent. Then a group of people were able to get the

1934 Dbq
The effects of the economic market crash of 1929 appeared in how the public sustained severe
losses at the hands of securities traders and corporations. With the unmistakable need to restore
financial specialist trust in the securities market President Roosevelt pushed for a huge securities
regulation and the creation of the Securities Act of 1933 sprouted along with the approval of
Congress. Then in a year later in 1934 Congress observed the need to make modifications to the
1933 Act by establishing an independent governmental regulatory body the Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC main responsibility came to be to ensure and protect the
public against malpractices in the securities and financial markets. As the years passed businesses
and technology advances developed and the economic market expanded. With the economy market

Linkedin Vs. Pinterest Marketing Strategy
As a small business consultant, I am constantly having to change mindsets especially when it comes
to digital marketing. At the top of my battles is hearing small business owners claim that their
customers are not active social media users.
However, if my business customer is on board with adding a social media strategy to their marketing
mix, they feel pretty confident what platforms are not for them. Most of the time the two platforms
they are sure will not lead to sales are LinkedIn and Pinterest.
True, not all social platforms are perfect for each and every business. However, LinkedIn and
Pinterest are two that can benefit most businesses and do lead to sales generation. This post will
provide strategic insights on small business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pinterest doesn t like them and will warn those who click on your pin that the link is suspicious
and may block the referral completely.
If you are repinning, edit the description to align with your brand. For example, if I run a Thai
restaurant and repin a recipe for Pad Thai I may edit the description to read Similiar to our Seafood
Pad Thai prepared by our chef at Business Name .
Finally, with the increase of men joining Pinterest, improvements in the search feature have been
made. Now, search results served differ depending on whether the user is male or female. This is
a great tid bit to be aware of when naming your boards or pins.
As for ethics, the most important thing to not forget is the copyright law. Next, and one of my
biggest peeves, check the origin of the pin. Prior to repinning, see if the pin opens up to a
legitimate website. If content points to another site not relevant to the pin, don t repin it. Also, read
the content to see if it is quality content your customers would appreciate.
Finally, for your protection and to preserve pin integrity, on your original content add a watermark
of your website or logo to your image. Not only will it help in ownership it will promote your brand

Multiple Definitions Of Being Intentional
Intentional Intentional can have multiple definitions. The definition, to me, that describes it the
most is to do something on purpose. I have so far been very intentional this school year. By
studying hard, and listening more in class. I am intentionally trying to make even better grades. I
have also been intentional when it comes to my friendships with friends. I have been spending
more time with them. I have been intentionally trying to have better friendships with them.
Something I need to work on is being more intentional with behaving better in class. I have a
problem with talking, and easily having an attitude when I do not need to have one. I also need to
work on being more intentional when it comes to obeying my parents. I really

The emergence of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and the prevalence of Human

A research specialist for the CDC, Dr. James Curran, stated in July of 1981 that no cases have
been reported to date outside the homosexual community or in women (Altman, 1981). That may
have been the case in that moment of time, but much changed over the course of only a few
months. Between July and December of 1981, another population was identified as suffering
from the illness that had no name. This was the population of injecting drug users (IDU) and it
was no longer limited to the United States, as Great Britain had its first reported case in that
same month (AVERT, 2015). With the HIV/AIDS outbreak achieving a trans continental status,
efforts were ramped up to identify the source of transmission. By the end of 1982, reports of
cases with similar symptoms were coming from several European countries, Uganda, and Haiti
which reflected the widespread nature of the situation (AVERT, 2015). In just one year, the
number of cases reported in the United States alone went from 41 to 452 and from just 2 states
affected to 23 (CDC, 2015). It became a global health concern due to the wasting effects and
rapidity of onset to death. Finally identified as being a blood borne pathogen, AIDS became the
name and transmission linked to exposure to blood by sexual relations, needle sharing, and even
blood transfusion. By October 1983, the World Health

  • 2. The Laws That Sex Workers Really Want By Toni Mac In The Laws That Sex Workers Really Want, Toni Mac discusses the reality of legalization in regards to sex work and their effects. Mac s purpose is to show the audience the four legal models that are being used around the world and demonstrate why they don t work. Then, explain the model that sex workers themselves think would work best, decriminalization ( The Laws ). She shares her own stories and experiences to help make her argument and to add to the effectiveness of her use of the rhetorical strategies. She uses all three of them, at least to some extent, but with a heavier focus on pathos and ethos over logos. The speaker, Toni Mac, introduces herself as a sex workerand closes her speech by sharing about her involvement in sex worker led groups like the Sex Worker Open University and the English Collective of Prostitutes. Clearly, due to her close relationship with the issue, she is trying to persuade anyone with an interest in human rights issues to support decriminalization. She explains decriminalization as the removal of laws that punitively target the sex industry, instead treating sex work much like any other kind of work. By treating sex work like any other profession, it takes away many of the problems associated with it. She begins by challenges each of the four legal models being used around the world today including full criminalization, partial criminalization, the Swedish or Nordic Model and legalization and how each of them causes harm. Then she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Observation of Sub-Atomic Particles 1.A) Part of the wave might penetrate it or it might not. This would be random and would depend on the energy of the electron attempting to penetrate. B) The pattern that initially seemed random would begin to acquire uniformity. Half of the electrons would transmit and half would reflect and go back. Each of the electrons that transmitted would carry its complete charge and mass. C) One cannot say where the electron really is, whether a given electron will transmit or reflect. It is only possible to state the probability of electrons actions. For example, one may say that the probability is one in five that the electron will transmit and four out of five that it will be reflected back. D) Some physicists find the result difficult to accept because they perceive it as what Einstein called God playing dice with the universe . The unpredictability inherent with this result and the fact that it seems to contradict both Newtonian physics as well as reality, make it a less than ideal paradigm for many physicists. E) David Hume would have vehemently objected to my answer on part C). Hume s word view was largely based on the belief that, to understand events in the universe, we must look to their cause. This casual link is, therefore, disrupted under the conditions witnessed in the aforementioned experiment, as we can see a cause but the result side of the chain is unknown. 2.A) Some Greek scientists based their opinion that the space between the earth and the planets and ... • 5. Benefits Of Multiculturalism In Canada Since the era of jetliners, firsts introduced in the 1950s, new interactions have resulted in a more globalised world, which has increased relationship between the many countries and cultures. The relationship between the countries makes cultural diversity even more important for Canada and Ontario. Multiculturalism has some opponent; however, the positive benefits for Canadaand Ontario are economic and cultural. Opponent of multiculturalism argues that the policies promote the divisiveness of Canada and are taking over land that should be available to all Canadians. The former Minister for Multiculturalism and Citizenship states that opponent of multiculturalism makes immigrant hyphenated Canadian instead of Canadian (Weiner, 1991). This happened when the Hindu community tried to build a waterfront cemetery in the GTA. Finding a city willing to support the project was complicated and they scouted as far as Niagara. They had little luck, until the Mayor of Pickering agreed to have it built in a Pickering park, this luck dried up since Pickering council didn t give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Weiner, 1991) Cultural diversity does not weaken Canadian nor does it divide Canadian. Cultural diversity has benefited since industrial lands have changed to be more welcoming. • 7. Sand County Almanac Quotes Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land... harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left (Pg 189). In less than three sentences, to me this quote summarizes everything that Leopold is trying to say in his novel. Metaphorically, the quote is talking about two friends. In regards to the novel, Leopold is saying that humanity cannot take and use the lands resources without making a conscious effort to replenish them. The non fiction novel A Sand County Almanac written by Aldo Leopold characterizes the importance in loving, caring and understanding our environment, land and ecosystems that surround us. Leopold emphasizes the relevance there is for humans to be conscience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the section The Land Ethic Leopold emphasizes the need for education, perhaps the most serious obstacle impeding the evolution of a land ethic is the fact that our educational and economic system is headed away from, rather than toward, an intense consciousness of land (p. 261). If people are not aware of the seriousness that comes with land conservation, then how are they supposed to change the way they are acting? There is a necessary need for humans to be conscience and aware of land use and its importance, but there is no way for this to happen unless the youth are educated and they continue to educate for generations to come. I believe Leopold is trying to say that those who understand the land are the ones who should be spreading their education and knowledge to those who do not. Passing on this knowledge of land ethic is crucial for the fate of the environment and Earth. Leopold expresses, a system of conservation based solely on economic self interest is hopelessly lopesided, (p. 251). The self interest economists who are only interested in the profit of which they gain from the land cannot spread the importance of the respect for the community. The people who share a knowledge and passion for the environment will educate those who are unaware. As well as being educated on the land, it is essential for humanity to understand that we are not users of what Earth has to offer us, but associates, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of Democracy In America By Alexis De Tocqueville Alexis de Tocqueville s Democracy in America is a 1835 masterpiece about the growth of democracy and the gradual disappearance of aristocracy. In attempts to help the French understand the concept about this new form of government, he wrote the document talking about the New World where the people rule instead of the nobles and kings. Two main differentiations are discussed: selfishness versus individualism and aristocracy versus democracy. The first idea that he compares is selfishness and individualism. • 12. The Importance Of Pressure On High School Sports Pressure and High School Sports seem to go hand in hand these days. Whether we like pressure or not, it is difficult to avoid. We experience pressure because of standards that others expect us to accomplish. While some people may do well under pressure, many of us do bad under pressure. The Kimberly Girls Volleyballteam will experience a lot of pressure as they head into the State tournament this weekend. Expectations are very high for them because they have had a lot of success so far this season. I talked to a girl who is currently on the varsity volleyball team that is going to state. Payton is not a starter and doesn t get to see the court often but she is just as important as anyone else on the team. She discussed with me some of the expectations that coaches and fans have for them. Every game our coach always tells us not to be satisfied, and that s kinda our team moto. I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches is to not be satisfied with a win or how we played just to always make it better. I believe the expectation from the fans is just to stay positive and work as hard as we can. With expectations high from the coaches and fans, this can add a lot of pressure and stress onto the girls. As Payton said, I definitely think that s the expectation from our coaches it to not be satisfied with a win or how we played just to always make it better, we can see how they are pressured to win again because they can t be satisfied with winning one game. They have expectations to make it far in their season because they are not satisfied after one game, they want to win more and be number one. I also talked to a fan, Quinn Johnson, and asked what he thought the pressures were on the girls this year. He replied with: I think this season the pressures are there own standards. Last years team was not as good so other teams and fans did not expect so much out of them. But after we won the FVA this year and got the #1 seed for the playoffs more pressure was added to the team coming into playoffs. This helps to see from a fan perspective what they believe the pressures are and what they expect the girls to accomplish this season. As you can probably see, with the girls success this year they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Women s Influence Of Women In The Renaissance The Renaissance is defined most simply as a time period of societies renewed interest in the importance of art, education, literature and architecture. These ideals inspired many people to make advancements in these fields and make their mark on history. Before the Renaissance began, women were shoved into the background; they were not given many opportunities to lead their own lives. This reform movement guided women away from the oppression of societal norms and allowed them to form their own personas by becoming inspiring authors, arguing for their equality to men, and using the societal situations to become inspirations to others. In society in the 1300 s, women had integral parts in the running of a family and household. They cared for the children and visitors, while also looking after their husbands accounts. This meant that women were expected to keep themselves out of the public eye and behave according to their social class. In the online article it is stated that, First a woman was a daughter and then a wife, mother, or widow. In contrast, male roles were generally defined by social position or occupation ( Women In The Renaissance and Reformation ). This proves that women were held to certain expectations and standards. These standards kept women under the control of supreme male authority and did not give them the freedom to lead their own lives. Women were silenced before the Renaissance period. Society told women they were to be respectful daughters and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Impact Of Overfishing On The Environmental Balance As far back as the history of man, humans have been dependent on the ocean and water resources for food and survival. While hundreds of years of single handed fishing rods in coastal and inland water channels have not alone been the root cause of overfishing, these common practices today still impact the environmental balance. Ocean overfishing is the removal or taking of wildlife from the oceans and seas at rates too high for fished species to replace themselves and is a threat that exists to our way of life. Overfishing can occur by commercial fishing, single person excessive fishing in a particular area of a body of water, or by other natural predatory activity. A recent report by scientists said that if commercial fishspecies the fish caught for food continue to decline at the current rate, by the year 2048 most commercial fish species will be in danger of never recovering because of the break in the natural ecosystem which would affect the diversity of wildlife in the ocean (Kurlansky, 2011). As a humanspecies, we are responsible for educating each other on this worldwide concern to help save our planet. If this isn t a reason to begin efforts of worldwide education on overfishing, what is? The impact of overfishing has long term consequences on the human race and the animal population as it threatens our biological balance and our ecosystem. • 18. Personal Reflection On Officership Personal Reflection Who were you before entering as a Cadet in CFOT? I am a mother of a thirty year old daughter, was a wife, registrar and ambulance coder, administration assistant, medical biller/coder. Also, I was also the Sunday school teacher and Sunbeam troop leader in my home Corps. The journey to Officership was long and a disobedient one, I was called at the age of eighteen, but I did not want that kind of responsibilities. Growing up in the Salvation Army, I did not see anything positive being a Salvation Army officer due to the fact they wear many hats. It was not a glamorous career to choose, it a calling and you have to be willing and obedient. So I stay clear from the word Officership until I met an officer and his family that would change my life. My goals of becoming a singer took a back burner after becoming tangled with this family. The Lord also blinded me while I was driving to work, and take there without being in an accident. However, this was the push that gives me the motivation to say yes to Officership after twenty three years of disobedience. He showed me he could lead me blindly if I would just go and trust him. How did you change/grow in CFOT? College for Officer Training was not overwhelming for me because I was prepared to welcome all the challenges ahead of me. My heart and soul were into what lies ahead of me, I change and grow when I started trusting the Lord more. More so, I learn to be humble and to have patience with everything that comes my way. The things struck me most during the two years at College for Officer Training was, that individuals who supposed to be Christian and in training to become leaders lack integrity. I ask myself this question how could this be, and how are they going to lead people to Christ as an Officer and Pastor. This learning experience bothers me for a while, but I gave it to God in prayer and focused on why I was at CFOT. What are you learning now as you are in the field as a Salvation Army Officer? Working in the field as an officer is entirely different from what I was taught in Training College. More so, my appointment came without any type direction or someone there to help me transition. More so, I had to figure out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At every attempt of a more optimistic essay, as the one written by Priscilla Ferraz her chronicle was excellent, but I pitied the poor woman for her sheer illusions, although I cannot blame her: In all of us there is this latent wish for a powerful turnabout, no one can handle for much longer the moral desert we re in, nothing to do with the lack of rain, good people, considering the most alarmist predictions have failed miserably a status quo shared by all media around the world, with their generalized Apocalypse... Chemical Equation: C6H5COONa + HCL C6H5COOH + NaCl Procedure: This experiment was started with a clear solution of sodium benzoate and HCl was added to it, ultimately producing benzoic acid. First, .3395 g of sodium benzoate was weighed, then it was dissolved in water, causing it to disassociate into ions. Next, 3M of HCl were added drop wise to the solution until it reached a pH of 2, thus introducing the hydronium ion. This addition caused a white, solid benzoic acid to precipitate out of the solution. A vacuum filtration system was used to separate the solid from the liquid. What was once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once, the precipitate was ready to be placed in the oven there was not enough time to allow for it to dry for 10 minutes. The precipitate was only in the oven for about 5 minutes, therefore, when weighed there was excess liquid in the precipitate. The final weight of the precipitate was .45 g which was more than the amount that was started with. From this end weight, it can be deduced that there was excess liquid in the end result. Post Lab: 1. The experiment began with a clear solution of sodium benzoate, once 3 M of HCl were added to achieve a pH of 2, the clear solution became a precipitate. Sodium benzoate was water soluble, but the yield of benzoic acid became quite insoluble in water. 3b. Although, a low amount of HCl was used, the waste can still cause health risks and risks to the environment because it was not just one person doing the experiment, therefore increasing the waste of HCl. Water was also used to wash the vial to remove all solids that might be sticking to the side of the vial, therefore, wasting water, which is not green. 4. If you start adding NaOH to the solution in small amounts, NaOH neutralizes part of the HCl, (moles of HCl to moles of NaOH) so the pH begins to increase slowly, this raises the soluability. This allows for the equivalent point to be reached: moles of HCl = moles of NaOH. By continuing to add the NaOH, pH will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a time when the industry of advertising was under going some major changes. These changes had a lot to do with a number of factors the first of which being the post war prosperity this meant people had more money than they ever had before. Another one of these factors had to do with the high number of teens who were now attending high school, this proved to be important because it created a whole other market which hadn t existed before. One more factor was the advances made in transportation and communication, these advances allowed goods, people, and information to travel long distances... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story manages to catch the reader s attention, and allows us to relate to his experiences in a way that simply telling us his intentions would not have done. This brings me to my next point in giving us something to relate to Barton has not only caught our attention but also demonstraight his sincerity by relating to us on a personal level. All of these characteristics would be Characteristics of a good ad in Barton s eyes. In the rest of this book Barton looks at Jesus the business man and not Jesus the sun of god. However, I will maintain that the Washington Consensus is the combination of neoliberal policy preferences, which essentially is the harnessing the power of markets which was implemented by international financial institutions during the 1980s and 1990s (Birdsall 2010 pp.6 ). Additionally, to measure the success of the consensus it is proper to measure the economic growth and the poverty rates in the region of Latin America because this is the same region Williamson first noticed the Washington Consensus. In short, while the Washington Consensus may not be used in the same manner as Williamson intended it to be, the Consensus has failed to help developing economies grow measured by GDP growth and hasn t reduced poverty. It is safe to say there is no longer a consensus among development policies; however, certain policy preferences and the end goal integration in the global economy will still be found in the next consensus regarding economic development (Nankani 2005 pp. xii). They maintained a highly consolidated, well ordered, and professional party. The group became gradually popular among workers and solders after Lenin demanded peace and insisted that the soviets, worker s councils, should be in power. This rise in popularity is what drove the Bolsheviks to take over the Russian government and set a dominant power, the Soviet Union. Czar Nicholas II was the last supreme leader of Russia. • 27. Democracy Is Not A Democratic State Essay It is often misinterpreted, the fact that the greatest nation on Earth, the United States, is governed as a democratic state. Democracy is basically having control of an organization or group by the majority of its members; however, this is not the case when addressing the United States. In fact, this country is not a democratic state, but a constitutional republic. It is an enormous difference when brought to light, since democracydoes not really protect minorities, but expands power for the majority. On the other hand, a constitutional republic is when a head of state and other officials are representatives of the people, elected by them. These representatives are expected to perform their duties in the best interest for the people; it also separates power into three branches known as, judicial, legislative and executive. Having this in mind, citizens of the United Statesrecognized their country as a freedom nation, internationally; a lot of historians and politicians might share the same opinion. Unfortunately, the government has been drifting away from its original purpose, to serve and protect individuals before the majority s interest. When it comes down to deciding whose rights should trump the others, majority or minority, there is absolutely no doubt, that minorities hold the title, since it addresses individual basic rights that contribute progress to the community to further evade a violation of basic rights towards any individual. In the first nine months of 1989 alone, there have been ten fatal air crashes involving large transport category planes owned by U.S. based carriers (Ott p.28). This compares disfavorably to the first nine of months of 1988, when but two such accidents took place, and in fact, it is the highest number of death causing accidents for the American commercialaviation industryduring the 1980s (Fotos p.31). On the whole, it is, in fact, comparatively safe to fly, and even with 1989 crash incidents added to the aggregated figures, flying is no more dangerous today than it was prior to deregulation. The Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation SafetyBoard and an array of independent air safety experts have all probed this year s major airline accidents. Despite all of post hoc study, they have been unable to discern a common link among them, (Ott p.28) with one major exception. The qualification at hand refers to dramatic increase in the volume of air traffic since de regulation. According to NTSB member John Lauber, if there is a trend in accidents, it is a trend set by the increasing volume of air transport operations rather than any fundamental deterioration in the margins of safety (Ott p.28). At first glance, this argument is comforting: more flights in the air simply result in more accidents commensurate with higher traffic volumes, so that the impact of de regulation has had only the broadest and most indirect influences upon the industry s safety record. But to ascribe the recent rash of safety problems to the neutral effect of higher traffic volume in the wake of de regulation and leave it at that overlooks several critical points. For example, to remain competitive, many airlines schedule flights in clusters for the convenience of their passengers. This, in turn, as Rudolf ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are told what is appropriate to tell others and what we should keep between the walls of our home and our family life. Although most people have some sort of spirituality, the conflict that arises when religionis a topic of conversation has made it so faith, similar to politics, becomes forbidden by social norms. It is viewed as irrational, subjective, and distinct from the rest of the world, and the principles of it cannot be applied in public life. Religious faith is viewed as something separate from the rational world. Our societal norms say that the rationality needed for the real world cannot coexist with the subjectivity of religious faith. Some negative consequences can be children looking up to social media celebrities that are not good role models, and some positive factors may include computer based programs to help better children s education. I will be talking about both negative and positive Sociocultural Factors in society ,and how we can potentially better the circumstances at hand. I am going to get the negative aspects at hand, out of the way so we can end on a better/positive note. Social Media has made a huge uproar a fair few years now, and with that being said, social media Influencers emerged from it. Social media celebrities are mostly known in the YouTube world, Twitter, and Instagram are other examples. As they have a pretty big fan base, and are loved by many, I do not feel like some should have a young audience. I think it is normal to look up to someone as I did when I was an adolescent (around 13 or 14), but I do not feel like it is ok to look up to someone who is not genuine. My advice to a parent who has a child who watches Jake Paul (for example), personally, I would very carefully monitor their browser history or get them involved in a new hobby instead of watching YouTube videos all day. American, British and Canadian forces attacked the island of Sicily in an effort to gain a foothold on the European continent and protect the Mediterranean lines of communication. Although the Allies were successful in pushing the Axis powersout of Sicily, Operation Husky demonstrated that Allied forces were not adequately prepared for joint operations. In particular, and based on current doctrine for joint operations, the Alliesfailed to effectively utilize the principles of Mission Command and also failed to realize the full potential of the Joint Force by inadequately integrating elements of the Joint Force into a cohesive organization.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this backdrop, the British drew the primary role in the invasion with the Americans relegated to protecting their flank. To add confusion and lack of clarity in the plan, General Alexander did not plan for any objectives beyond the initial invasion, preferring to wait until forces were ashore. This failure of leadership on the part of Alexander and lack of decisive guidance left the field commanders without clear objectives and contributed to the mistrust of both their commander as well as each other. Guidance as simple as locate the German Army in your zone and destroy them would have contributed much to alleviate the lack of trust, at least with the higher echelon of command. As it was, joint force leadership failed to give clear guidance that, in addition to negatively contributing to issues of trust, clouded the field commanders understanding of the battlefield. As a primary tenet of Mission Command, understanding allows the field commander to assess what is happening on the battlefield and make rapid decisions on the best way to carry out the commander s intent. Without clear and concise guidance on objectives, opportunities to exploit advantages as they arose were lost and significant time was wasted reorienting forces to adhere to guidance that was not current based on conditions. Both General s Eisenhower and Alexander failed to identify the objectives and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
