The Problems Of Bread And The French Revolution At Bordeaux
Brace, Richard Munthe. The Problems of Bread and the French revolution at Bordeaux. The
American Historical Review 51, no. 4 (1946): 649 667.
Hard labor and low wages where common for the peasants of France during the revolutionary
years. Bordeaux a city in France was well known for its success in exports and imports. The ports
of Bordeaux where considered the best than any other city in France. Its yield of profit was
significantly more than any other city. The upper class prospered and working and peasantry
suffered intense labor. Brace argues that despite low wages and hard labor they were not the cause
of the upcoming revolution in 1789. Brace argues that high prices of bread and scarcity of grain
due to bad harvests where the cause of the civil unrest. Subsistence for peasantry was largely
dependent on bread. When the bread ran and out and starvation became a problem the working
class looked to the government for relief. Brace goes in depth on the government s failure to fix
its grain problem, regulate bread prices, and feed it citizens. Bread is the staple food of the
majority of France, without it revolution was inevitable.

Bouton focuses on the largest riot in 1775 known as the flour wars. In her article she argues how
men have taken up the woman s role in subsistence riots. Women usually were the ones who
created riots do to over overprice food as it was their job to do all the shopping. Women and men
from all over France attacked flour, wheat and bread shipments. They raided mills and bakeries and
anywhere that sold wheat. Bouton uses records from court hearing to determine to determine how
both female and male behavior was represented during the Flour War of 1775. The Flour is a
significant event because it shows men joining the fight for subsistence food such which fueled the

Descriptive Essay On A Restaurant
Smell As I walked in the door, aromas flooded my nostrils; my day as a waitress had begun.
Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabbed my attention then resumed filling the kitchen
and the street air outside with a salted, hickory twist. Taking a deep breath and opening the door
to the waitress station revealed a pot of freshly brewed coffee, its creamy perfume tangled with
the bacon from the kitchen had encased the small town diner. My first customer was an older
man. The stench of his breath was appalling, consisting of only the toxic odor of alcohol which
remained from a night of heavy drinking. A quick ticket, a cup of plain coffee, and a couple
sticks of fresh mint gum on the house set him on a more vibrant route; this, of course, gave him
a more tolerable fragrance for the day. Glancing out the window, I noticed thick, black smoke
billowing from the Whitewater Valley train: its passengers exited, covering their ears to shield
from the blare of the horn. As the door opened, the dense, charcoal fog dragged in along with the
new customers. Though, the kitchen buzzed with the creation of orders before long. As my day
ended, I walked out of the diner to my junky old car. The interior reeked of fruity strawberry and
black ice air fresheners, which unsuccessfully attempted to mask the metallic stain of rust and old
gasoline. The A/C was broken, but the crisp, fresh breeze cooled me as the sun began to wave
goodnight to the woodland surrounding the road.

History Of The Revolver
The revolver was invented by Samuel Colt in Paterson, New Jersey, and was patented on
February 25, 1836. The revolver is a handgun featuring a rotating cylinder with multiple chambers to
hold bullets. Before the invention of the revolver, people used single shot guns, like rifles and
shotguns. Each time a bullet was shot, the shooter had to reload another bullet and then shoot again.
During the revolutionary war, soldiers used muskets, which are very inaccurate single shot guns,
extensively. Multi barrel guns could shoot multiple bullets at once, were heavy and cumbersome.
Revolvers are lightweight, compact, and portable.
In addition to handguns, Colt made revolving rifles and shotguns. This made shooting and hunting
easier for gun

The Cuisine Of Hokkaido, Japan
1.0 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
This report introduces the regional cuisine of Hokkaido, Japan. The food of Hokkaido is well
known worldwide because of its high quality and freshness of seafood. Hokkaido also produces
dominant amounts of Japan s meat, wheat and dairy so its cuisine is not just a thing entirely apart
from the rest of Japan s. There are many regional cuisine in Hokkaido including Genghis Khan
barbecue, Hokkaido ramen, Ishikari nabe and so on. Through my research, I find that there are
many different cooking methods that people in Hokkaido use. For example, originally, Genghis
Khan barbecue only focuses on burning and roast lamb and mutton. With more and more southern
Japanese into Hokkaido, the sauce and vegetables are gradually brought into the cuisine to adjust
taste. I also find these cooking methods are interesting, and would like to learn more about the
Hokkaido cuisine.

1.2 History
Ancient people in Hokkaido are believed to catch salmon when they swam upstream. They are
also believed to use pots to cook acorn and plants. From 1603 to 1867, Russian and missions from
other countries arrived at Hokkaido but they were not allowed to enter. After 1869, the Meiji
government allowed people from other parts of Japan to immigrate to Hokkaido. These people
brought their different cuisine to Hokkaido. Under these influences, Hokkaido people developed

Essay On Macy s Department Store
In this paper, I will discuss the use of research within Macy s department store and some of the
different ways and, they might be, able to use research to help with the problems their having, if
the company is effective or ineffective in the use of research to help the organization, are they
might be using secondary and primary research, and what the company might do in the future to
expand research.
Macy and Problems
I picked Macy s for my company it was founded in 1843 and 1855 the original Macy s store is in
Haverhill, Massachusetts, by Rowland Hussey Macy, Sr. They deal in high quality Clothing,
footwear, accessories, bedding, furniture, jewelry, beauty products, and housewares. Macy s has
a couple issues, but the biggest one is the dependence on the US economy for its revenue
generation, while a few of their competitors, such as The Gap and Wal Mart Stores get a lot of
their revenue from other countries, also a lot of customers are not really buying a lot of items in
the malls and are doing a lot of internet shopping for Christmas. The use of research would really
help Macy s if they researched better ways to attract people through the web by either using
surveys, or researching about how some of their competitors can stay ahead in the industry. Also,
another good thing would be to research some different countries to see if they can ... Show more

Hydatid Disease Essay
We read with great interest a case report by Tosya et al. on isolated hydatidosis involving the
ascending aorta [1]. Cystic hydatid disease still represents a neglected disease despite being highly
endemic in a myriad of livestock raising regions worldwide, and this case presentation makes
evident how diverse the localization and clinical manifestations of this infection can be. With this
comment, our aim is to extend the discussion by highlighting several important issues. The
described patient initially presented with recurrent arterial embolic events, which is an unusual
manifestation of this disease. The hydatid embolism usually stems from spontaneous or traumatic
rupture of the hydatid cyst, with only a several case reports describing such events in the literature
[2]. Still, histopathologic evaluation of the embolus can be pursed, which in some instances may

Although the diagnosis is usually performed with serologic tests, the authors rightly state that up to
50% of infected individuals may present with negative serology. This fact is important to
accentuate, as large numbers of clinicians still seek serologic confirmation of their working
diagnosis. Albeit significant efforts have been made to improve this percentage using synthetic
peptides, recombinant proteins and combinations of defined antigens, it must be noted that only
60% 80% of infected individuals become seropositive [3]. Furthermore, 10% 15% of serological
examinations return negative results due to the wall thickness of the individual hydatid cysts. By
contrast, false positive serological findings can also be found in 10% 15% of patients, primarily as
a result of cross reacting with other parasitic infections, but also in non active disease stages,
patients with malignancy or during pregnancy

The Use Of Engines Powered By Gasoline
Plan of Investigation
At the turn of the 20th Century, the advent of a number of new technologies posed to change the
economy and society of the United States. One such technology was the internal combustion
engine, which, after the last 100 years of common use, can be considered one of the most
influential technologies of the 20th century. The rapid rise in the use of engines powered by
gasoline is commonly attributed to the popularity of the Model T car introduced by Henry Ford in
1908. Prior to this, the combustion engine faced serious competition from steam and electric
engines. In order to ascertain why the Model T was so successful compared to other vehicles of
the time, I plan to analyze aspects of American society in the early ... Show more content on

In comparison, while the earliest design of combustion engines can be dated back to 1680, no
practical designs were actually built by 1858. In his autobiography, Henry Ford himself makes
accounts of the hesitance with which the advent of combustion engines were met, in favor of steam
and electric engines. On the subject of the emergence of gas engines, he recalls that They were
received with interest rather than enthusiasm and I do not recall any one who thought that the
internal combustion engine could ever have more than a limited use. All the wise people
demonstrated conclusively that the engine could not compete with steam. The time period
during which the Model T s rise to popularity took place must also be considered. From 1890 to
1920, a period of American progression aptly named the Progressive Era took place. Beginning as
a social movement and developing into a political agenda, Progressivism refuted Social Darwinism
and asserted that society s problems, namely such issues as poverty, racism, and class warfare,
could be solved by improving education, environments, and workplaces. In general, progressives
believed that all people had the right to the core aspects of democracy that promoted independence.

Does Dark Matter Exist
Even though dark matter is in existence we don t have the instruments available to detect it yet. A
theory suggests that dark matter is what actually makes up a large portion of our universe. Even
though we can t detect it, we know dark matter exists because it can interact gravitationally with
visible matter and radiation. A professor from New York stated that dark matter
plays a large role in
causing geological catastrophes as well as mass extinction.
`An example of when dark matter played a role in a large catastrophe is the extinction of
Dinosaurs 65 million years ago. As the solar system moves around in a cyclic motion it passes
through a largely crowded galactic disk that contains lots of dark matter. Our planet is orbiting

How Does Wilfred Owen Explore the Horror of War Through...
Wilfred Owen, War Poems and Others How does Wilfred Owen explore the horror of war
through the power of poetry? Throughout the several poems Wilfred Owen wrote throughout his
experience during the First World War, he explores many themes in relation to the war and the
emotions associated with these. One of the most prevalent ideas Wilfred Owen chooses to
emphasise in many of his poems is that of the sense of horror associated with war and all the
consequences of it such as those including death, disability, pain and gore and this emphasis can
be clearly seen in 2 of Wilfred Owens most famous poems: Dulce Et Decorum Est and Mental
Cases. First and foremost, the technique Wilfred Owen employs in nearly every poem he wrote to

the reader of the exhausted state of mind the soldiers are in and the phrase Knock kneed, coughing
like hags, we cursed through sludge, ... which employs a simile to compares the physical condition
of the soldiers to that of an old wrinkled witch. Aside from alliteration Owen, although to a slightly
lesser extent, also utilizes many other poetic devices and these show up every so often throughout
the poem including techniques such as repetition, personification, assonance, onomatopoeia,
oxymoron and internal rhyming. All of which, serve to only further emphasise the emotions and
themes pertaining to the horror of war. Some examples of these include Batter of guns and shatter

intense action and violence, Sunlight seems a bloodsmear; night comes blood black; which uses
repetition of the word blood which is commonly associated with violence and death to further

because of her race, she has the right, and power to stand up for herself. For instance, Mayella

shows that because she s a woman she gets easily taken advantage of like she s nothing.(Doc.B) .

From the Ground Up
The coffee shop where I wait for Karen is loud and busy. I sit and take notice of the people
around me. The shop is filled with young and old people alike, and I notice the differences
between these two generations. The younger crowd sits at almost silent tables everyone s eyes on
the screens in front of them. The older crowd sit and talk. Faceto face with friends at their table and
even with strangers at other tables, by eavesdropping and then inserting themselves into the
conversation. While some of the younger people find this behavior rude, I find it oddly charming.
When Karen comes in, I immediately recognize her bright smile. Karen is an older womanwith
brown hair and kind eyes. Karen Bowman and I worked together a few years ago at OK Foods. I
am excited to see her and catch up on all the office gossip. We find a quiet corner in the shop to
talk. I am going into the Accounting field and I am looking forward to learning more about this
from her experience. Karen explains to me that she got her first bit of experience from her mother,
who taught her how to balance a checkbook and write checks. Karen learned this at an early age,
because her mother wanted to teach her about the practical things in life. Another Lesson that
Karen s mom taught her is, a woman could take care of things... run her own life and be able to

High Cost Of Entry And Market Domination Limits Entrants...
Barriers to Entry High cost of entry and market domination limits entrants into the industry. The
upfront cost for new airlines is capital intensive. In addition, it s difficult for new airlines to
obtain airport slots for takeoff and landing which are determined by the airports. Established
airlines already hold the monopoly over slots at certain airports, making it harder for new airlines
to infiltrate (Airlines Industry Profile, 2014). The industry is also dominated by five key airlines;
American, United, Delta, Southwest and JetBlue which make it difficult for new airlines to gain
market share. At 40 of the 100 largest U.S. airports, a single airlinecontrols a majority of the
market. At 93 of the top 100, one or two airlines control a majority of the seats (Koenig
Mayerowitz, 2015). In addition, with fuel being the number one cost for airlines, the volatile fuel
prices make it hard for new airlines to make a profit. Domestic airlines in the U.S. spend a
combined $2 to $5 billion on jet fuel every month. As a stat up airlines, the price paid for fuel is the
same weather planes are full or empty which could stop new airlines from entering the industry.
Lastly, the FAA has strict regulations which discourage new airlines from entering the industry. All
new entrants must abide by Federal Aviation Authority regulations on airworthiness, pilot
competence, and related issues (Airline Industry Profile, 2014). Overall, entry into the airline
industry is high and there is

Social Ramifications Of Obesity In America
In this research paper we will be looking at the topic of obesity and the social ramifications that it
holds. We will first look at obesity in a broad way. Then we will focus on obesity and its effects on
children. And finally, obesity and adulthood will be covered. The topic of obesity is important to
the field of sociology because obesepeople make up a significant portion of the world s population.
In addition, the manner in which obese people are treated has a significant effect on societyas a
whole.
Before going into too much detail, it is first necessary that we have a good understanding of what
exactly obesity is and its prominence in society. Obesity is understood to be a complex disease

An estimated 97 million adults in the United States are overweight or obese (Klein 2000). Affecting
one in five Americans or more than 22 percent of the U.S. population obesity is one of the most
pervasive health problems in our nation right now, said George L. Blackburn, M.D., Ph.D.,
associate professor of surgery and associate director of the Division of Nutrition at Harvard
Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. We need to implement
steps to slow the progression of this national epidemic (NAASO 1999). But the problem of
obesity does not only affect the United States. We now know that the growing prevalence of
obesity is creating major health problems worldwide, said Dr. James O. Hill, president of the
North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO) and Professor of Pediatrics

as unique to Americans, but it is now seen as a global health risk affecting developing and
underdeveloped countries (AOA 2000). Obesity is increasing at an epidemic rate in the United
States 1.3% a year for women over 20. Rates of obesity among minority populations, including
African Americans and Hispanic Americans are especially high (AOA 2000). There is also a

Deductive Approach In Research Approach
Research Approach
Every researcher adopts a specific approach for his research study, which is very important step
in every research. There are mainly two research approaches, inductive and deductive by looking
to the research onion of Saunders et al (2009, p. 108). In inductive approach, researchers use their
findings for the generation of theory. Theory is a term which can be use in different ways and in
qualitative research researcher use this term about the explanation of observations. Inductive
approach allows the researcher in previous literature and finds the new research question, where he
comes up with the new theory after the analyzing. While deductive studies, use theory deductively
and places it in the very beginning of the study. With the objective of testing or verifying a theory
rather than developing it, state hypothesis and collects data to test it. Reflect on the confirmation
or disconfirmation of the theory by the results (Creswell, 2009, p. 10 14) and our choice for

Compare And Contrast The Natchez Tribes
The Natchez and Iroquois Native American peoples have some interesting correlation and
differences in their way of life. Their traditional descent groups, the membership of those descent
groups, and leadership positions all played a role in their political systems. The Natchez people
recognized a matriarchal descent group. They had a socio political system which included the
following in descending order, The Great Sun, Nobles, Honored Men, and Stinkards (commoners).
The system was different in the traditional hierarchical sense, in that the royal family were
obligated to marry in a lower social status, also that the only way to be a Great Sun was through

They were both matriarchal societies, and to be part of a group, you either had to be born into

system in that they were nearly indistinguishable. The Sun rank was the highest socially, as well
as politically, and held the most powerful political positions. The Nobles held secondary
positions, and the Honored Men held some small political positions. The Commoners did not
seem to have any political position. They all operated under their King, the Great Sun, thus

How Does Napalm Affect The Human Body
Kim Phu`c, a survivor from the Napalm bombing, says Napalm is the most painful thing you can
ever imagine, water boils at 212 degrees fahrenheit, Napalm generates temperatures at 1,500 2,200
degrees fahrenheit. Kim had third degree burns all over her body. In 1965 1972, US troops used
napalm in the Vietnam; napalmwas a mix of plastic polystyrene, hydrocarbon benzene, and
gasoline. When all of these substances are mixed together it creates a jelly like substance. When
napalm is ignited and will stick to just about anything and burn up to ten minutes. The effect of
napalm on the human body is unbearably painful and almost always was the cause of death.
Napalm was first used in flamethrowers for U.S. ground troops. They burned down all the forest

Divine Law In Antigone
The play Antigone is written by Sophocles, one of the three ancient Greek writers whose plays
have survived till this modern time. Antigone mainly focuses on the events taking place due to a
past tragedy which took place in the city of Thebes , where the current king is the play s Antagonist
and Antigone is the Protagonist. The play revolves around the central theme of Human law vs
Divine law, According to the current king Creon, the crime committed by Polyneices accounted
him as a traitor and therefore he does not deserve a proper burial, even though the divine law of the
gods clearly states the every person deserves a proper burial.

He also opposed the irrational law of the gods and favored his own rational law. With Creon s
first law anyone who attempted to bury Polyneices will be sentenced to death . Clearly Creon
was offended by Polyneices and his emotions were brought out when he said, No man shall bury,
none should wail for him; unsepulchred, shamed in the eyes of men . This line has a profound
impact on the audience, as it gives them a good look at Creon s overall disposition, and it also
instills a feeling of resentment towards Creon, as he is misusing the power he has been given.
In addition to this, Creon also brings himself closer to the wrath of the gods by killing anyone
who attempts to bury Polyneices. This is basically killing an innocen person who has done
nothing wrong, and this crates further dislike towards Creon from the audience. Creon s egoistic
nature prevented him from seeing the true repercussions of his actions, and because he was
blinded by his power, he did not think that anyone would stand up to his changing of laws and
rules. His disbelief in everyone and everything gave him a very hard time to think whom to trust
and whom not to, he also did not believe the old prophet Teiresias , whose prophecies were right.
Teiresias predicted that Creon s harsh actions, unthoughtful laws and a steady course of his actions
would result in the death of his entire family and

Patient Greed
We have been freed from kings and queens but the Common man has been slave to their own
greed for as long as history itself and yet we haven t figured a way out. We have been taught
survival is everything and in this overpopulated world that fight to survive is inevitable. That
consistent self nagging to Go get it has perhaps made us want more and more in spite of having
everything we need. More money, more power, more riches, status, the stride for public
acknowledgement. It is a price tag on every individual whether girl or boy. Who is the more

Greed is the product of this materialism. Today, greed and avarice has overtaken the society s

The BEST week is the first week of the first year in dcu, It is very an important week to
recognize the DCU program, to meet our lecturer and our classmate too. In this reflection I will
write about the most important things I have learned and also the things I enjoyed it most in the
best week, which is the information and the knowledge I received, the challenges, the teamwork,
and the prizes. However, I was very excited and nervous at the same time before I know about the

Actually the teamwork is the most area I would like to improve in myself, because I did not
have used to work with a group and I think that I produce better and even faster when I work by
my own that might be because of my last experience in teamwork, also maybe because of my shy
personality. For example, sometimes I get worried to propose a new idea to someone and he doesn

and unexpected. They were all collaborators except one person. After all I believe that I will deal
with all the different kinds of personalities in my career, so I must get to use to it. We worked on
some activities that could improve our teamwork. For example, we worked in a poster of team
contracts which involve the team rules and the consequences if these rules are broken. In our team
contracts we wrote the points that we think it is the most important, for instance: the team member
must respect each other ideas and opinions. Everyone should improve their own skills. And one of
the most important thing that I learned was if each member of the team used his skills the team
will get a very good results at the end so I must not get shy to produce my thought and ideas.
Another thing effect me in a positive way after working in a teamwork is talking better in

Boundaries within the garden are created through the trees and hedged on the outer perimeter.
Inside the park, the limestone curbs/walls define the spaces that the plants occupy. They also serve
as barriers in order to prevent visitors from going directly into the garden.
Spaces like the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Great Lawn individually create space through
division of territory. The Great Lawn is defined by a large area of cut grass. The enormous space
welcomes onlookers from every direction of the park. It s flat and soft surface allows visitors to
freely dictate how they want to use the space, ranging from relaxing to engage in physical
activities. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion defines itself separately from the Great Lawn by using
cement as a surface instead of grass. Individuals that occupy this space are welcomed by a fixed

The Job Of A Police Officer
Most people can easily speculate as to which career is the most dangerous one in America.
Hollywood has dramatized this career so much through their television shows, that people do not
realize that this is no joke. This career is the most dangerous because it has the highest death
rates of any career. The reason why the death rates are so astonishingly high is because the
people who work in this career put their lives on the line to save others in need, and because they
work in dire situations. This job is the one of a policeofficer. Though it may be the most dangerous

Later on, Colonial America enforced this form of work. Ferguson states that A sheriff, appointed
by the governor of a colony, enforced laws, collected taxes, and maintained public property
throughout a colony (Ferguson 143). From there on, the work of police officer became more
specialized, and was divided into departments. New advancements also affected their work. New
technology, firearms, restraints, and other new items to use defensively were created.
The next subject to touch upon, is the job description of a police officer. The duties of an officer
can vary greatly. In a smaller department, an officer may have to direct traffic, patrol, break up
riots, escort a funeral procession, or issue a ticket for a violation of a law (Ferguson 144). In larger
city departments, the work is more specialized. These departments are comprised of special work
divisions. These divisions may include communications, firearms identification, criminal
investigation, forensic science, accident prevention, fingerprint identification analysis, and
administrative services (Ferguson 144). Also, in larger cities, a department will contain special
units of work. These units include harbor patrol, the canine unit, vice, traffic and records control,
and the rescue unit (Ferguson 144). In every department, there are specific positions to be filled.
These positions include: chiefs, sergeants, captains, desk or booking officers, and many other
positions.

as the pressure to compete or preform. Another further concept looked at within the playis the
negative impact that mateship in sport can really have on an athlete. With school soon coming to

factor in this production, it was a logical decision to research these themes. As an athlete myself,
a lot of the information gathered is from first hand experience with team sports and professional

themes and how they play apart in society. Through the research, the majority agree that mateship

both in a negative and positive way, if you get along with the group then it can be seen as an
encouraging environment, however if you do not fit in with the team and are constantly picked

The use of social media from the left and right are noticeably different. Brooker and Barnett

politics that s arguably drawing the forgotten people to these alternative sources of information and

For students and teachers, having a chance to be in this cultural environment is a life s fortune.
Although today s social life is so different from the past, people are getting harder to focus on pure
academic research because of the distractions from daily affairs. Especially for higher degree
students that rely on independent research, which provides freedom, but also brings the problems

The Asian art academies are facing the same situation in the higher degree education of ceramic

Benefits Of Art Club In School
Does your school offer a variety of clubs, classes, and activities? Most schools do. Some clubs at
my school are Nerd Herd, Theater club, French club, and art club. Some of the classes are drama,
art, Spanish, French, and career investigation. Some activities are soccer, basketball, football,
and school dances. One of these that students enjoy is art club. Students enjoy art club because it
s fun, it s a stress reliever, and they get to hang out with friends. Students enjoy art club because
it s fun. One way that art club is fun is that students get to do whatever they want, on certain
projects. A way that students get to do whatever they want is that they may put flowers on their
project and someone else may put robots on theirs. There are really cool projects to do, and if
students like art than they ll love to do these projects! One of these projects is ice dyeing. Last
year in art club we ice dyed T shirts and pillowcases. Ice dying is like tie dying, in the way that
they both diy the fabric, and students certainly don t diy anything in a regular art class. Another
example is a chalk board. Last year in art club we made small chalk boards with whatever we
wanted on them. None of the chalk boards were the same, they were all different. Some of them
had flowers while others were stained. The last reason why art club is fun is that last year we had

Unfortunately, my office setting does not vary from those classic lyrics. The text calls the

misconceptions I had about the grapevine idea: essentially 75% of information received by the
grapevine is true information (Robbins Judge, 2009) and gossip is rarely the source of rumors

situation I described is that rumors emerge as a response to situations that are important to us,
when there is ambiguity, and under conditions that around anxiety, (Robbins Judge, 2009). The
mid shift change of staff announcement was particularly ill timed because the project was not
approved, nor were dates set for the approval; the pilot project announcement was ambiguous.
This set a motion for anxiety. The common theme with my co workers was rumors around who

  • 2. The Problems Of Bread And The French Revolution At Bordeaux Brace, Richard Munthe. The Problems of Bread and the French revolution at Bordeaux. The American Historical Review 51, no. 4 (1946): 649 667. Hard labor and low wages where common for the peasants of France during the revolutionary years. Bordeaux a city in France was well known for its success in exports and imports. The ports of Bordeaux where considered the best than any other city in France. Its yield of profit was significantly more than any other city. The upper class prospered and working and peasantry suffered intense labor. Brace argues that despite low wages and hard labor they were not the cause of the upcoming revolution in 1789. Brace argues that high prices of bread and scarcity of grain due to bad harvests where the cause of the civil unrest. Subsistence for peasantry was largely dependent on bread. When the bread ran and out and starvation became a problem the working class looked to the government for relief. Brace goes in depth on the government s failure to fix its grain problem, regulate bread prices, and feed it citizens. • 3. Descriptive Essay On A Restaurant Smell As I walked in the door, aromas flooded my nostrils; my day as a waitress had begun. Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabbed my attention then resumed filling the kitchen and the street air outside with a salted, hickory twist. Taking a deep breath and opening the door to the waitress station revealed a pot of freshly brewed coffee, its creamy perfume tangled with the bacon from the kitchen had encased the small town diner. My first customer was an older man. The stench of his breath was appalling, consisting of only the toxic odor of alcohol which remained from a night of heavy drinking. A quick ticket, a cup of plain coffee, and a couple sticks of fresh mint gum on the house set him on a more vibrant route; this, of course, gave him a more tolerable fragrance for the day. Glancing out the window, I noticed thick, black smoke billowing from the Whitewater Valley train: its passengers exited, covering their ears to shield from the blare of the horn. As the door opened, the dense, charcoal fog dragged in along with the new customers. Though, the kitchen buzzed with the creation of orders before long. As my day ended, I walked out of the diner to my junky old car. The interior reeked of fruity strawberry and black ice air fresheners, which unsuccessfully attempted to mask the metallic stain of rust and old gasoline. The A/C was broken, but the crisp, fresh breeze cooled me as the sun began to wave goodnight to the woodland surrounding the road. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The revolver is a handgun featuring a rotating cylinder with multiple chambers to hold bullets. Before the invention of the revolver, people used single shot guns, like rifles and shotguns. Each time a bullet was shot, the shooter had to reload another bullet and then shoot again. During the revolutionary war, soldiers used muskets, which are very inaccurate single shot guns, extensively. Multi barrel guns could shoot multiple bullets at once, were heavy and cumbersome. Revolvers are lightweight, compact, and portable. In addition to handguns, Colt made revolving rifles and shotguns. This made shooting and hunting easier for gun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The food of Hokkaido is well known worldwide because of its high quality and freshness of seafood. Hokkaido also produces dominant amounts of Japan s meat, wheat and dairy so its cuisine is not just a thing entirely apart from the rest of Japan s. There are many regional cuisine in Hokkaido including Genghis Khan barbecue, Hokkaido ramen, Ishikari nabe and so on. Through my research, I find that there are many different cooking methods that people in Hokkaido use. With more and more southern Japanese into Hokkaido, the sauce and vegetables are gradually brought into the cuisine to adjust taste. Macy s has a couple issues, but the biggest one is the dependence on the US economy for its revenue generation, while a few of their competitors, such as The Gap and Wal Mart Stores get a lot of their revenue from other countries, also a lot of customers are not really buying a lot of items in the malls and are doing a lot of internet shopping for Christmas. The use of research would really help Macy s if they researched better ways to attract people through the web by either using surveys, or researching about how some of their competitors can stay ahead in the industry. • 8. Hydatid Disease Essay We read with great interest a case report by Tosya et al. on isolated hydatidosis involving the ascending aorta [1]. Cystic hydatid disease still represents a neglected disease despite being highly endemic in a myriad of livestock raising regions worldwide, and this case presentation makes evident how diverse the localization and clinical manifestations of this infection can be. With this comment, our aim is to extend the discussion by highlighting several important issues. The described patient initially presented with recurrent arterial embolic events, which is an unusual manifestation of this disease. The hydatid embolism usually stems from spontaneous or traumatic rupture of the hydatid cyst, with only a several case reports describing such events in the literature [2]. This fact is important to accentuate, as large numbers of clinicians still seek serologic confirmation of their working diagnosis. Albeit significant efforts have been made to improve this percentage using synthetic peptides, recombinant proteins and combinations of defined antigens, it must be noted that only 60% 80% of infected individuals become seropositive [3]. Furthermore, 10% 15% of serological examinations return negative results due to the wall thickness of the individual hydatid cysts. By contrast, false positive serological findings can also be found in 10% 15% of patients, primarily as a result of cross reacting with other parasitic infections, but also in non active disease stages, patients with malignancy or during pregnancy ... The Use Of Engines Powered By Gasoline Plan of Investigation At the turn of the 20th Century, the advent of a number of new technologies posed to change the economy and society of the United States. One such technology was the internal combustion engine, which, after the last 100 years of common use, can be considered one of the most influential technologies of the 20th century. The rapid rise in the use of engines powered by gasoline is commonly attributed to the popularity of the Model T car introduced by Henry Ford in 1908. On the subject of the emergence of gas engines, he recalls that They were received with interest rather than enthusiasm and I do not recall any one who thought that the internal combustion engine could ever have more than a limited use. All the wise people demonstrated conclusively that the engine could not compete with steam. The time period during which the Model T s rise to popularity took place must also be considered. From 1890 to 1920, a period of American progression aptly named the Progressive Era took place. Beginning as a social movement and developing into a political agenda, Progressivism refuted Social Darwinism and asserted that society s problems, namely such issues as poverty, racism, and class warfare, could be solved by improving education, environments, and workplaces. Throughout the several poems Wilfred Owen wrote throughout his experience during the First World War, he explores many themes in relation to the war and the emotions associated with these. • 17. High Cost Of Entry And Market Domination Limits Entrants... Barriers to Entry High cost of entry and market domination limits entrants into the industry. The upfront cost for new airlines is capital intensive. In addition, it s difficult for new airlines to obtain airport slots for takeoff and landing which are determined by the airports. Established airlines already hold the monopoly over slots at certain airports, making it harder for new airlines to infiltrate (Airlines Industry Profile, 2014). The industry is also dominated by five key airlines; American, United, Delta, Southwest and JetBlue which make it difficult for new airlines to gain market share. At 40 of the 100 largest U.S. airports, a single airlinecontrols a majority of the market. At 93 of the top 100, one or two airlines control a majority of the seats (Koenig Mayerowitz, 2015). In addition, with fuel being the number one cost for airlines, the volatile fuel prices make it hard for new airlines to make a profit. Domestic airlines in the U.S. spend a combined $2 to $5 billion on jet fuel every month. As a stat up airlines, the price paid for fuel is the same weather planes are full or empty which could stop new airlines from entering the industry. Lastly, the FAA has strict regulations which discourage new airlines from entering the industry. All new entrants must abide by Federal Aviation Authority regulations on airworthiness, pilot competence, and related issues (Airline Industry Profile, 2014). In inductive approach, researchers use their findings for the generation of theory. Some clubs at my school are Nerd Herd, Theater club, French club, and art club. Some of the classes are drama, art, Spanish, French, and career investigation. Some activities are soccer, basketball, football, and school dances. One of these that students enjoy is art club. Students enjoy art club because it s fun, it s a stress reliever, and they get to hang out with friends. Students enjoy art club because it s fun. One way that art club is fun is that students get to do whatever they want, on certain projects. A way that students get to do whatever they want is that they may put flowers on their project and someone else may put robots on theirs. There are really cool projects to do, and if students like art than they ll love to do these projects! One of these projects is ice dyeing. Last year in art club we ice dyed T shirts and pillowcases. Ice dying is like tie dying, in the way that they both diy the fabric, and students certainly don t diy anything in a regular art class. Another example is a chalk board. Last year in art club we made small chalk boards with whatever we wanted on them. None of the chalk boards were the same, they were all different. Some of them had flowers while others were stained. The last reason why art club is fun is that last year we had a party at the beginning and end of the year. At the meeting before each party each student signed up to bring in a type of ... There are two misconceptions I had about the grapevine idea: essentially 75% of information received by the grapevine is true information (Robbins Judge, 2009) and gossip is rarely the source of rumors (Robbins Judge, 2009). The interesting part of the grapevine that is particularly applicable to the situation I described is that rumors emerge as a response to situations that are important to us, when there is ambiguity, and under conditions that around anxiety, (Robbins Judge, 2009). The mid shift change of staff announcement was particularly ill timed because the project was not approved, nor were dates set for the approval; the pilot project announcement was ambiguous. This set a motion for anxiety. The common theme with my co workers was rumors around who was keeping his/her job and who was being let go, with many people speculating who was being fired.
