Jean Piaget s Theory Of Education
Psychologists Jean Piaget s and Lev Vygotsky s contributions to our knowledge about cognitive
development and learning, forms the foundations of modern education. Both men s work was
revolutionary for their times, underpinning the transformative shift to a constructivist way of
thinking, which emerged as the most significant influence on education of the 21st Century (James
Bader, 2002). Piaget, was the first psychologist to investigate the world from the perspective of the
child, determining that children and adults had different cognitive processes, while Vygotsky,
formed the influential Social cultural Development Theory. As evident in the example of Mr Gina
and Miss Van, despite criticisms, both men s work and the extensive research... Show more content

Wood et al (1976) found it to be the most effective method of teaching for children when
observing mother child interaction. Furthermore, Palincsar and Brown (1984,1989) in their
adoption and application of Vygotsky s scaffolding, social interaction and use of language in
their reciprocal teaching approach, provide support for the theory. Analysis Both Piaget and
Vygotsky s theories are evident within the modern classroom. Mr Gina within his high school
classroom, has adopted various practices of Mrs Van primary classroom to engage and improve
the learning of his students. These practices are heavily influenced by Piaget and Vygotsky s
theories and their foundations in constructivism, which emphasises the active role of the learner in
development. Piaget s proposed process of cognitive development adaptation , through equilibrium
is evident within the classroom. Adaptation is the process by which we adjusting our ideas and
knowledge to new situations through the modification of pre existing or new schemas (Duchesne
and McMaugh, 2016). Mr Gina uses groups of 1 4 students and encourages them to talk, engage
and share their opinions even if they are unsure, as well as utilising an independent learning
centres on class topics, a reading corner and knowledge space. Within her classroom Miss Van

Greek vs. Roman Theatre Essay
Historic playwrights such as Sophocles, Euripides, Aeschylus, and Seneca were described as
prolific philosophers and geniuses of their times. These men actively participated in the politics
surrounding them, and were respected and revered in their society. Each had their own individual
style and portrayed their personalities through each of their noted works. Nevertheless, as with a
majority of playwrights throughout history, most fodder for their plays have been adaptations of
previous plays written by their predecessors or based off mythological events. Unfortunately, this
had lead to many speculative accusations and criticisms, as is the case with Senecan tragedies
versus their Greek counterparts. Senecan and Greek interpretations of... Show more content on

Therefore, while the Greeks put on masks to create new forms of life, Romans put on masks to
resurrect a dead being (Wiles 129). Professional actors received training in life to imitate these
dead beings, a reason as to why Seneca disliked the premise of an actor playing multiple roles
because actors specialized in one character (Wiles 130). These masks veered away from
neutrality to more stock characteristics, much like commedia dell arte, and remained as such for
recorded history, and because there is records of Seneca performing his work, there is no proof
that he used different masks. A final cultural difference is the importance of the chorus and its use
in the plays Agamemnon, Oedipus, and Medea. The chorus was not highly involved in the action
of the plays. In general, the chorus main functions were to create a psychological and emotional
background to the action through its odes. It introduces and questions new characters, as well as
point out the importance of events as they occurred, to establish facts and avow the outlook of
society. Finally, the chorus covers the passage of time, between events, and separates episodes
(Calder 21). Within the play Agamemnon, by Aeschylus, the chorus represents the voice of wisdom
of the city as well as its limitations (Novelguide). The chorus limitations are clear when they fail to

Contribution Of Confucius
Confucius was born in 551 BC and died in 479 BC at age seventy two. He was a great influence
on chinese teachings. He was widely known as Master for the great influence he brought upon
central China. The translation of his name literally means Master Kong. He was the author and
editor of several chinese texts. After his death, these texts and teachings were created into the
Analects. The Analects reflect and provide discussions of Confuciusand his disciples. Through the
reading of the thirteenth and fourteenth chapters from the Analects, one can conclude that
Confucius taught governmental morality, the behavior of a ruler, how rulers should maintain order,
and mistakes of rulers.
Confucius taught that government should be strict and precise. In government, princes were to
appoint the minister by following the rules of propriety. Ministers were to follow the orders of the
prince with adherence. The ruler should appoint office positions to whom they know. In
government, the ruler must rectify himself and others. Confucius thought that the first thing to be
done in a government was to rectify names to ensure social harmony. The rectifying of names was
crucial because they needed to be correct so that the language of things was the truth. The language
of things needed to be truthful to ensure success of things. Without the success of things, music and
proprieties would not prosper. When these things do not thrive, order is not restored and the people
would not be aware of how

Grapheme Color Syneesthesia Research Paper
Many tests, surveys, games, etc. use a stimulation where the person involved has to read a word,
a color, but the text is written in a color that is not the color written. Someone would have to
name the color the text is written in, opposed to reading the word, or identify when the color of
the text and the word match. For example, if the following was displayed on the screen: green, a
person would have to say red because that is what the text is written in, or identify that the color
and the word do not match. Everyone associates the name of a color with that color. But for people
with grapheme color synesthesia, it word association goes beyond this. People with grapheme color

Quest for Identity in The Life of Galileo by Brecht
Throughout the course of history, from era to era, mankind has been on a continuous attempt to
perpetuate what they perceive as the truth; and in doing so, embark on a quest to find their true
identity and place in life. One must realize that the common theme in all literature is the search for
identity and belonging. Bertolt Brecht, author of The Life of Galileo, effectively uses the
developing character Galileo Galilei to portray a strong message; a message which five hundred
years after the fact has still not been completely comprehended. Through Galileo s continuous battle
with the Church in prevailing his work, Brecht is telling the readers that in any one man s attempt ...

Development and change are issues which the church fears due to the fact that advancement
undermine the strength of the chruch when changes are brought to religion. The church s opinion
and attitude towards Galileo s discoveries are clearly outlined by Sagredo on Pg. 23 as he states:
Do you think the Popes will hear your truth and say Wonderful, I m wrong. Do you think he ll
even listen to you? ...When I saw you just now, at the telescope, looking at your new stars I saw
you standing on burning logs. When I heard you say I believe in reason I smelt burnt flesh. (Brecht
23)
What Brecht is telling us through the use of Galileo and his stubborn and persistent need to
present his findings, is that even though one is presented with adversities, in Galileo s case, the
church, one must continue to use reason to spread the truth. In any case, Galileo believes that
religion does not necessarily have to be sacrificed in order to advance a society in terms of
technology. At this point in the play, he believes that the use of reason can overcome any obstacle
in the attempt to prevail the truth; in a sense, what Brecht is telling the readers through Galileo s
stance against the church is that the ability to think, innovate, and propagate the truth are the key
requirments that will enhance our society. In this case, Galileo is faced time and time again with
adversaries that tell him to stop what he is

Abstract
The aim of this paperis to propose a framework to evaluate the awareness of digital literacy among
students. This paper mention about the ways to develop the knowledge performance towards
students by practicing good skills to deal with the appropriate digital tools and knowing variety
types of digital tools which can be use in digital literacy among students.

1. Introduction
Nowadays, in dealing with the rising of the technologies, students need to be encouraged to be
ready to obtain lifelong knowledge and skill in the learning environment. The understanding of the
concept of digital literacy has to go through long term development and its current appearance is
characterized by complexity and technology skills but also cognitive and attitudinal components of
behavior. (Reynolds, 2008 ; Reynolds, 2016) notes that definitions of digital literacy are often skills,
and practically in uses of related technologies, thus tethering them to a given historical moment in
time. The definition frequently used is a confident and important use of ICT for work, leisure,
learning and communication (European Commission, quoted in JISC InfoNet, 2012; Hall, Nix

Public Enemies Movie Analysis
Director Michael Mann releases his movie Public Enemy to the public on July 1, 2009. This
nonfiction biographical movie of the character John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) fascinates the
viewers with his charming self, witty audacity, and bold bravery of his gangster style bank
robberies during the Depression era of America s greatest crime wave. Characters such as Baby
Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), Homer Van Meter (Stephen
Dorff), and Evelyn Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard) displayed their elusiveness of the federal
agents with their burglaries through Ohio and Indiana as the American gangsters. Labeled by J.
Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) as America s first Public Enemy Number One, Dillinger s brashness
erupted even more. The enlistment of FBI s top agent, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), gave the
instructional task of bringing in this charismatic and troubling evildoer Dillinger dead or alive.
Nevertheless, this movie introduced us to this charming character Dillinger. The comparison and
contrast of the true realities verses the movie actually handles the injustices differently than what
the screen displays. Drama, bad boy image, lovers, and reckless abandonment of the law lures us to
an unrealistic reality to the

How Cyberbully Can Teach The Youth Of Today
How Cyberbully Could Teach the Youth of Today Cyberbullying is a term that is self
explanatory it is basically bullying that has on the internet, whether it be social media or texting

technology. Cyberbully could potentially help children to learn how to cope with being
cyberbullied and how to deal with bullies in general. This movie is a fantastic movie that needs
to be watched by young teen in high schools everywhere to bring awareness to bullies in schools,
how they affect children, and how quickly it could end badly. There have been many studies done
to answer simple questions like why kids bully or why kids commit suicide. It is believed that since
cyberbullying can be done anonymously that is why more people do this because they can just
get away with it ( Delete Cyberbullying Why Do People Cyberbully? ). A very famous case of
someone committing suicide because of cyberbullying, is the Amanda Todd case. Amanda posted a
video about her being bullied and about her self harm, and about a month later she hanged herself
in her home. She made the video about her bullyingand self harm experience because she was
being blackmailed because of pictures she sent online to someone. The movie Cyberbully starts
with Taylor Hillridge, portrayed by Emily Osment, on a computer talking to her friend Samantha

The movie Gangs of New York seemed almost as if summarizing everything into one piece. The
books held facts, details, truths that the movie just couldn t cover in two entire hours. The
authors, Gilfoyle, Asbury, and Anbinder showed us just what exactly urban history is like which
was honest, not overdramatized, factual, and real. While admittedly a good movie, the Gangs of
New York is a great recommendation for fun, but if comparing it with history the movie is just
pure fiction. An overdramatized, thug life of a man in past New York seeking revenge for the
death of his father by the hands of Bill the Butcher. Understanding history, even if its urban history
is no great feat in itself. For example, at the end of the movie there was the grave of the father of
Amsterdam Vallen who was the leader of the Dead rabbits. The scene changed and fast forwards
through time where the graves began to be covered in grass and weeds till eventually the graves
were gone. That scene is just like history, until history is told, it will just sit and eventually be
forgotten never to be found again making them details of the

Changes in Africa from 500 C.E to 1500C.E
The role of religion has changed over time in West Africa from the migration of Islam bringing its
new faith, rituals, and establishment of a greater connection with the outside world through trade
and cultural diffusion. However the unique African religion that existed beforehand was still
retained; the African culture still believing in animism and polytheism even after the spread of
Islam. From 1000 1500 CE the role of religion has seen changes and continuities influenced by the
spread of foreign territories, economics, and political/social systems in West Africa.

In addition Islam did not change African gender systems and supplanted original religions, rather
than replace them. Although many changes were incorporated into its spiritual life, religion still
determined the ethical/moral code of the population determining the social and cultural manner of
West Africa.
The Islamization that took place within West Africa from 1000 to 1500 CE brought a variety of
religious, political, and economic changes in its society, contrary to the diversity and individuality
that remained. With the spread of Islam came a broader trading network which brought Africa new
ways of communication with the outside world, bringing new ideas of faith and migrants to the
area. Though the movement of new faiths traveled across the Sudanic states bringing new forms of
worship, religion was still the main authority that determined the ethical/ social patterns of Africa.
With this in mind much of African religion was retained, leading many people to live a life
devoted to animism and several nature deities. Around the beginning of 1500 CE much of West
Africa, especially Ghana, Mali, and the Sudanic kingdoms, became a fusion of African culture and
Islamic influence, with greater connection to the outside world and Islam while great diversity

One of the most striking aspects of the 19th century is the distinctive use of gender roles and
expectations. Specifically, these aspects are provided strongly in the The Birthmark by Nathaniel
Hawthorne, a short story that demonstrates the 19th century couple, Aylmer and Georgiana, who
are faced with the predicament of an imperfection taking the shape of a birthmark upon Georgina
s cheek. By 19th century standards, Georgiana is successful at fulfilling the role of a wife. What
does the lifestyle of a 19th century wife consist of? It is thought by Christopher Sallus that men

Voting Is A Right That All Americans
Voting is a right that all Americans have once hitting the age of 18 regardless of race, gender, or
financial status. However, not everyone chooses to exercise these rights or even fully
understands how to use them properly. Voting is not as simple as just going to a ballot box and
checking the box for the person whom had the most signs and television commercials. Being a
voter means that one has an influence over the government and who makes important decisions
regarding the nation or state. However, if one does not know all of the details about who they are
voting for, they could be voting blindly. It is important to do research and make factual decisions
about who should be elected. If one is not fully informed, than the less suitable candidate could be
elected into office due to a lack of information. All of the information necessary to make a strong
decision is available, it just depends on whether or not Americans go through the effort to locate it
and use it. Voting for the most desired and suitable candidate is important whether it is
congressional district, senate, or presidency.

The entire documentary itself is a narration. Due to the documentary being in the format of a

Through the use of anecdotes of multiple activists throughout the entire film, specifically the
one on Daniel McGowan, the viewer is able to get a good idea of how far these people are
willing to go for their cause. For example, Daniel was telling his story of his last operation with
the ELF, and he had to put gasoline around the entire house and in all of the vehicles which are
hooked up to an explosive device. Daniel knew about the consequences of this action and yet he
still went forth with it. His passion for the cause he was fighting for was greater than life itself
which is Curry s main claim. This then leads into the cause and effect portion of the
documentary. Within every action, Daniel considered the consequences, but he ended up
completed the task at hand regardless of the after effects. Daniel is now labeled as a terrorist as
he faces 7 years in prison, but to Daniel, this is all worth it as he believes he has made an impact
for his cause that fought for the preservation of the environment. Another aspect of cause and effect
would be the increase of harsh force used by authorities. At first, the protest led by the activists

The Identifying Factors in the Development of Aggression and Violence in Youth Today
Tragic events like the shootings at Columbine High School capture public attention and concern,
but are not typical of youth violence. Most adolescent homicides are committed in inner cities and
outside of school. They most frequently involve an interpersonal dispute and a single victim. On
average, six or seven youths are murdered in this country each day. Most of these are inner city
minority youths. Such acts of violence are tragic and contribute to a climate of fear in schools and
communities.
Research findings are identifying factors in the development of aggressive and antisocial behavior

Successful early adjustment at home increases the likelihood that children will overcome such
individual challenges and not become violent. However, exposure to violent or aggressive behavior
within a family or peer group may influence a child in that direction.
Types and Severity of Antisocial Behavior
The types and severity of antisocial behaviors exhibited by youths vary greatly and include lying,
bullying, truancy, starting fights, vandalism, theft, assault, rape, and homicide. As a rule, the older
the age of onset, the fewer the number of antisocial youths who will engage in seriously aggressive
and violent behavior. Longitudinal studies show that many children who engage in antisocial
behavior in childhood continue to do so at least through adolescence.
Longitudinal research has identified types of youth who progress to adolescent antisocial behavior,
multiple pathways through which it develops and persists, and the multiple factors that shape this
risk. This research has identified two types of life course trajectories: life course persistent, which
is viewed as a form of psycho
pathology, and adolescence limited, which is identified only in select social situations. The
distinction between these two types of individuals is very useful, both as a way of thinking about
developmental knowledge and as a tool for targeting the right interventions for antisocial youth.
Research in this area has generated evidence for this way of

Argument Against Napoleon Bonaparte
Hello, I speak to you today as the great Lucien Bonaparte, younger brother to Napoleon. While
many here may consider Napoleon a true revolutionary, the only right minded people in the
building, including myself, label him as a traitor, who should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
Before I get in to my argument against Napoleon, I would like to provide you with some
background details of my personal relationship to Napoleon, so my credentials be known and taken
into consideration when deciding the ultimate verdict. Although born in Corsica in 1775, I was
educated in Franceat the College of Auton, the military school in Brienne and the seminary in
Aix en Provence. In 1789, I returned to Corsica to join the Jacobin Club, and to bring the fight to
the oppressive ruler, Pasquale Paoli. I was a fervent opponent of tyranny, and even went to
France to solicit help towards the fight against Paoli. I then became a devout Jacobin in the South
of France. It is with this strong background of fighting tyranny that I am qualified to express my
discontent for Napoleon and his traitorous rule, in which he failed to follow many revolutionary
ideals. I have prepared the following two grievances to formally express why my brother, Napoleon
is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I helped to appoint him First Consul in November 1799, I made sure that he knew the
consequences if he were to ever break with these three ideals. However, he then proceeded to limit
the liberty of the people with the help of Fouche, by taking away the right to freedom of press.
Him and Fouche reduced the number of newspapers down to four, and threatened violence to
anyone who published unfavorable information about him. This key break with liberty shows how
Napoleon took advantage of the revolution to gain power, and then used his position to limit the
rights of the people. This is truly a traitorous

The Victorian Era The Victorian Era or the romantic period was a time in which Queen Victoria
ruled the throne. The Victorian period formally began in 1837 the year in which Victoria became
the Queen of England and ended in 1901 the year in which she was laid to rest. In this paper, I will
discuss Queen Victoria s life or what we all know to be The Victorian Era. I will highlight some of
the most powerful events that occurred during this time, the many reforms that were passed during
Queen Victoria s ruling, I will discuss the political, cultural, and social developments of this time
period. I will speak about some inventions of the Victorian Era, and the two main political parties
better known as the Tory and Whigs that were popular during this age. You will discover what
imperialism is, the commonwealth, The British Monarch and why and how Victoria was such a
remarkable monarch. I will even tell you some of the most interesting facts that I have learned to be
true about Queen Victoria.
First a little back history, May 24, 1819 marked a birth in history that most definitely did not go
unnoticed. Born into a royal family in Kensington Palace came the one and only Princess
Alexandrina Victoria. Victoria may have been born into royalty but, she actually grew up not being
surrounded by wealth. She grew up in a normal home instead of a palace. Little did the princess
know that she would become heir to the

Neurotransmitters And Its Effect On The Brain
Neurotransmitters communicate by transmitting signals from a neuron to a target cell through a
synapse. Before this communication can happen, the neurotransmitter must be synthesized and
stored in vesicles so that when an action potential arrives, the cell is ready to fuss with the
membrane of the neuron. When the synaptic vesicleis ready, the final triggering of vesicle fusion
with the presynaptic terminal membrane occurs rapidly in response to the action potentialinvasion
of the terminal. This step is highly dependent on calcium ions, which enter the terminal through
voltage gated calcium channels (Steinberg Walton, 1978; Westenbrock, 1981). This action potential
causing the opening of calcium channels for calcium ions to stream into the presynaptic cleft. The
presence of calcium ions cause the synaptic vesicle to open and release neurotransmitters which
fuses into the cleft. Miledi (1967) suggested that the idea that calcium entry into the terminal is a
key step in the neurotransmitter release process formed the basis of what is known as the calcium
hypothesis. Next, when an action potential does arrive at the terminal, the neurotransmitter is
released from the terminal into the synaptic cleft. When the neurotransmitter arrives into the
synaptic cleft, it must be recognized by its own receptors in the postsynaptic cell to create the
binding action, causing ion channels to open, thus changing membrane potential and initiating
another action potential. After the

Theorist Comparison
Theorist Comparison Description of Jean Piaget s Work Jean Piaget researched how the
environment and personal experience plays a role in cognitive development for children (Case
Smith O Brien, 2010). Piaget established four concepts: adaptation, schema, assimilation, and
accommodation (Case Smith O Brien, 2010). Adaptation is described as the process of adjusting
to one s surroundings (Case Smith O Brien, 2010). For example, 5 year old Betty enters a birthday
party full of laughing children. Betty may start smiling and clapping along with her peers. Schema
is defined as the representation of the environment, relationships, and occasions in the child s mind

Rhetorical Analysis of Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities
On February 14, 2016, the Chronicle of Higher Education published an essay by Julio M. Ottino
and Gary Saul Morson entitled Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities. Ottino
and Morson discuss the importance of the fields of engineering and the humanities. The purpose of
the essay is to show how engineering and the humanities are linked together and are needed
simultaneously. Even though, Morson and Ottino adopt a weak informal tone in the middle of their
argument; the authors end their argument strong by successfully using ethos and logos to appeal to
their audience, college and university faculty and administrators.
Ottino and Morson begin with an introduction of the topic of engineering and humanities. The
authors use a jovial tone to portray the current engineering field as booming and an essential part of
innovation. They use the appeal of logos to convey the current issues with humanities programs by
suggesting, The humanities, by contrast, are in peril, with fewer students each year. Morson and
Ottino show the current state of both the engineering and humanities fields in order to emanate a
sense of urgency to the reader. This introduction shows that there is a need to fix the humanities
field because it is slowly decreasing to nothing. Most college and university faculty know the
current state of the humanities field. However, Ottino and Morson start their

government always seems to be in disorder, and its people never seem completely happy. Because
of this image of being unfit to control its own affairs, the international community has long been
involved in the history of Afghanistan. The world intervenes in Afghan conflicts and works to keep

other times it is unnecessary and only creates more problems. In this paper I will examine the

A British Indian force entered Afghanistan in spring 1839. Kandahar was taken without a fight
and the powerful fortress of Ghazni was seized. Dost Mohammed fled from Kabul and Shash
Shuja was installed as Emir. However, the British could not afford to keep troops in Kabul
indefinitely, and in 1841 preparations were made to withdraw them. Meanwhile popular opposition
to Shah Shuja grew into an uprising. British diplomats were murdered and the British force lost its
grip on the area.
In January 1842 the Kabul garrison marched out of the city with the promise that it would be
allowed to retreat to India in safety. Instead it came under immediate attack as it struggled through
the cold, mountainous terrain. Only a few survivors escaped. A national uprising ensued and the
British garrison at Jellalabad was besieged until they were relieved. The relief then linked up with
the Kandahar garrison and marched back to India via Kabul where they rescued some British
hostages. This marked the end of the war which had been a complete failure. Shah Shuja was
murdered and Dost Mohammed returned to the throne. The British had been defeated by harsh
conditions and strong opposition. The wars including Britain were not yet over, however.

Descriptive Essay Subway
Alone In the Subway
I cherish all of the places that I get to travel to and experience. The summer vacation of 2014
really struck my attention when something very alarming happened. My mother, father, brother,
two cousins (Cade and Callie), and my uncle Al, and aunt Kris, and I were all getting ready to
board the subway below the streets of Washington D.C. This was not my first ordeal with the
putrid, murky railway; whereas it was my relatives first time. First, Cade and Drayton boarded
the subway. Next, was Callie, and lastly, myself who all walked onto the subway. The doors began
to close; warning us with a blaring beep, beep, beep! As my family and I walked down the long
stretch of the stairs, we heard a great deal of chatter. The air was murky and the lights were dim.
Our fathers paid instantly, and my family and I were on our way. The subway came after waiting
a maximum of five minutes. Before we boarded the subway, we assisted a father with his child
in a stroller to exit the train before the doors closed. After helping that family, my own family
and I were very excited to finally get onto the metro train and then visit the monuments.
Suddenly, we heard this bizarre beeping sound, let s just say no one knew what it meant at the
time. First, rushed Cade and Drayton. Next, Callie and I followed, hustling onto the subway. The
doors closed; again, blaring a beep, beep, beep; just like it did before we got on. From the inside
the subway doors, it s ironic seeing your parents trying to reopen the doors, on the other side. It was
puzzling and unreal.
Wait! No! I screamed.
Our parents are out there! shouted Callie.
First, I thought to call one of our parents. Did any of you bring your phones? I asked Cade and
Callie.
Just to our luck, Cade and Callie both replied, No we left them at the hotel this morning.
Secondly, I thought we could ask someone on the subway for the phone. Sadly, everyone else
was carrying on with their own life; it almost felt as if we all were all alone in the subway. I was
only going in fifth grade at the time, so I was waiting for someone else to make a decision, hence
I m the youngest. This wasn t unreal anymore, it was serious. At last, we all agreed to get off at the

A pheochromocytoma is a rare, usually benign adrenal tumor. It is approximately five to six
centimeters in diameter and fifty to two hundred grams and occurs equally in both men and women
between the ages of twenty and forty. The adrenal glands are small endocrine glands that distribute
the hormones cortisoland adrenaline. Cortisol is responsible for stress response, homeostasis
restoration, glucose restoration, and for countering insulin. Adrenaline is responsible for keeping
heart rate balance. Though the exact cause of developing a pheochromocytoma is unknown,
mutations in genes that are involved in cell growth such as VHL and NF 1 have been linked to the
development. Pheochromocytomas secrete epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

Jim s relationship with Antonia shapes him as a character and provides him with the tools to grow
from a child to a young adult.
Main Idea/ Theme My Antonia is a philosophical story, with dream like ideas left and right. Even
so, the book s main theme was clearly the transition or journey from childhood to adulthood. This
theme applied to both the main characters, Jim and Antonia, who were children when the story
begins and adults when it ends. At ten years old, Jim Burden moved to the plains of Black
Hawk, Nebraska. His parents had died in an epidemic, and Jim was sent to live with his father s
parents on their Nebraska farm. In his new home, he met a Bohemian girl named Antonia, a free
spirited, lively, unique personality. He fell in love with her, and although his feelings were not
returned, he and Antonia became great friends. The book has numerous examples of traditional
obstacles that people their ages go through, along with additional hardships such as poverty and
death of close family members. Antonia developed a sense of independence that became her most
prominent trait throughout the book. The characters found activities and places where they felt
like they belonged, and they began to discover who they were. As Jim (the narrator) states, The
new country lay open before me: there were no fences in those days, and I could choose my own
way over the grass uplands, trusting the pony to get me home again. Jim was speaking of a place

Stono Rebellion And The Security Act Of 1739
Stono Rebellion
On Sunday, September 9th, 1739 the British colony of South Carolina was shaken by a slave
uprising that culminated with the death of sixty people (Foster). This was one of the first major
slave revolts in which many slaves tried to escape to freedom. The fact that it was Sunday
affected the timing of the revolt. The promise of freedom that the Spanish made, contributed to the
idea of rebellion. This rebellion forced a negative compromise towards the slaves because all of
the slave codes became even more strict; even though there was no long term effect of the uprising.
In 1739, the Stono Rebellion created conflict between slaves and South Carolinian elite landowners
which resulted in slaves being forced to endure stricter slave codes.
First of all, the Stono Rebellion was led by an Angolan named Jemmy in South Carolina in 1739.
This uprising occurred because slaves in Southern South Carolina wanted to escape to freedom.
The enacting of the Security Act of 1739, the fact that it was a Sunday, and the malaria epidemic in
the Charlestown were three factors that influenced the timing of Stono Rebellion. The Security Act
of 1739 required all white males to carry their firearms to church. Because most of the armed males
went to church (on sunday), they were not ready for a rebellion. Furthermore, the malaria epidemic
had also weakened many militiamen and regular men to the point of them not being able to fight or
function very well. Jemmy and his

Election Explanation Through Sociological Theories
Election Explanation through Sociological Theories The 2016 U.S Presidential Election ended
on November 19th, yet many people did not expect or even think about the result of Trump
becoming our 45th president. Although many people in California did not accept the fact that
our first female candidate was defeated and lost the election, it is reasonable to explain some
surprising observations and results of the election by looking through the lens of sociological
theories. 1. 63% of white men and 53% of white women did not vote for Clinton. As our first
female presidential candidate, it was controversial towards her ability be competent to manage a
country. Although many people are pursuing gender equality in America, they still hold prejudices
and discrimination towards women because of their vulnerable image. It is not surprising that
more than half of white men choose to vote for Trump instead of Clinton by Christine Williams s

predicament of Glass Ceiling, invisible barriers that restrains their promotion in male dominated
jobs. On contrary, men are considered to be Glass Escalators in which they are push up in their

Physics Of Kinetic Energy And Stopping Distance
Newton s law of inertia states that an object in motion will stay in motion until an equal and
opposite force stops it. In a collision, a driver s car is stopped by another object (Ex: another car,
a tree, a lamp post). Anything not attached to the car will continue to move forward because they
are not stopped by the force that halted the car. Therefore a person who is not wearing a seatbelt
during a collision would fly to the front of the car until they hit something (Ex: the dashboard, the
wheel, a car seat). The stopping distance of the vehicle going 60 mph would be four times greater
than that of the vehicle going 30 mph. This is because kinetic energyincreases exponentially along
with velocity. From my prior knowledge in physics, I know that the formula for... Show more

Mass, kinetic energy, and stopping distance have a direct relationship so if the mass of the
vehicle goes up, the kinetic energy increases, and so does the braking distance. This can be
proven by the equation KE= 1/2mv2, as mention in the answer to the previous question.
Assuming the vehicles velocities are the same, mass is directly correlated to kinetic energy.
Kinetic energy and stopping distance have a direct relationship, as explained in the previous
answer. To prepare to enter sharp curves, a driver should slow down. Lowering the velocity of a
car decreases the kinetic energy in the car. This means the braking distance would be shorter
since there is less kinetic energy to convert. Drivers that travel at a slower speed and have a
short braking distance can pass through sharp curves easier because they have more control over
the vehicle and can stop if the vehicle gets too close to the edge of the road.A reason why car
crashes have different levels of injuries is that the force of impact varies in distinctive situations.
The force of impact in accidents depends on the size, weight, and speed of the colliding

Monetary Policy
Monetary policy is the mechanism of a country s monetary authority (usually the central bank)

This involves buying or selling financial instruments like bonds in exchange of money to be
deposited with the central bank. By selling the financial instruments, the central bank mops up the
cash in circulation. On the other hand, selling injects money thus increasing the supply of money
(Bernanke 2006).
Interest rates
By increasing or reducing the nominal interest rates, the money supply is either increased or
reduced. When the rate goes up, people are not able to borrow, thus the money does not enter into
circulation. But when the rates go down, people borrow in big numbers therefore increasing the
money supply. So the monetary authority just needs to adjust the interest rates either upwards or
downwards, and in direct results will be reflected on the money on circulation. Discount window
lending
This is the situation where the commercial banks and other lending institutions borrow from the
central bank at lower interest rates compared to how they will lend. This gives the institution a
chance to vary credit conditions depending on the central bank lending rates. If the central bank
raises its lending rates, then the other lending institutions will have to raise their rates too, thus
discouraging the public from borrowing. But if the central bank lowers its rate, then commercial
banks and other institutions will be forced to lower their rates too. This will encourage the

sport and how it influenced popular culture in Australia. First a brief introduction The AIS was
founded on the 26 Jan 1981 by Australia s Prime Minister at the time, Malcolm Fraser. The reason
why Australia felt the need to develop the sports program was because in the seventies Australia
did not have a strong national team of athletes. In the 1976 Montreal Olympics Australia finished
32nd overall. This was a huge blow to a sports proud nation. The introduction of the AIS started to
show results straight away. During 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles Australia came 10th overall. This
was a huge improvement from the Montreal Olympics. The main focus... Show more content on

The AIS has influenced the amount of people who participate in sport since 1981. The AIS
started out with only eight sports: soccer, track and field, weightlifting, tennis, swimming,
netball, gymnastics and basketball. Since then the AIS has joined with the ASC or the
Australian sports commission. The ASC looks over most sports. The AIS has promoted
Australia s top athletes that they have developed. This makes people more interested in spot.
Firstly because since the introduction of the AIS the Australian team has been very competitive
and lest be honest who doesn t like to be on the winning team and secondly people became aware
that sport is an interesting activity that is everywhere. The AIS has introduced top of the line
training facility s to train specially selected athletes. For kids watching professionals on TV or
live they have seen where they started out. This helps kids set goals of getting to the top of their
game. This has also enhanced the level of skill in all sports because more people are playing
sports. The amount of people who watch sport The people in Australia put money into sport. This is
because of the Australian values witch the AIS helped enhance. The Australian love of sport was
enriched since the development of the

Morality Of Animals In Life Of Pi, By Yann Martel
Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel, follows the life of Piscine Molitor Patel who physically
endured over two hundred days on a directionless lifeboat with only a Bengal tiger named
Richard Parker as a companion. When Pi is first recovered and put into a hospital, he is forced to
recount his detailed story to a couple of judgemental Japanese correspondents, Mr.Okamoto and
Mr.Chiba, who not only do not believe his story, but laugh in his face as he vocalizes it. They
believe Pi s tale is nothing more than just that; a fictional tale which he invented. Despite Pi
embellishing the events that occurred into almost complete fiction and unbelievability, such
events did happen, just not in the same way Pi explains. With taking Mamaji s initial promise
into consideration, Pi s story involving animals is the better story. To begin Martel s novel
Mamaji says that Pi s story was one that would make one believe in God. The story without
animals is not only brutal, depressing, and traumatizing but it also disregards the fun of
believing in something for the sole purpose of wanting to. Pi Patel furthers this idea when he
says If you stumble at mere believability, what are you living for?...Love is hard to believe, ask
any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer.
(Martel 297). Pi explains it best, his story with animals may be unbelievable;however,
unbelievable things occur every day. He agrees with the condescending Japanese men, in the
aspect that his story is unimaginable, yet challenges them by forcing them to think. The animals
story allowed Pi to believe the unbelievable in order to save his own humanity. Pi s belief that
Richard Parker was real, permitted him to push away the realistic trauma he would ve endured
if he faced the truth. In the beginning of Martel s novel, Pi is a young, pure, innocent, pacifistic,
vegetarian boy who just wants something to believe in, a purpose. Pi allows Richard Parker, his
very own, large orange symbol of hope, be the survival side of himself that he has yet to accept.
He is constantly running from his behavior by placing it onto Richard Parker. This allows Pi to
think the tiger saves his inner past version of himself. It was

The Amendment Of A Home
In the world of which The Constitution and its Amendments must be followed, there has been
great debate on whether a dog that is trained to sniff out certain smells such as narcotics, is
considered a search prohibited by the Fourth Amendment, but what could be said if the place a
dog sniff is done, is the outside of a home. A home, is a place that a person believes they have the
most protection because that is where a person resides, but the question of whether the outside of a
home holds the same protection can be debated back and forth. It is of great importance though, in
the case of future discussion, to know if the outside of a home is protected under the fourth
amendment from a dog sniff or whether it isn t. To answer the question at... Show more content on

A person to be secure in their home would be of little practical value if the State s agents could
stand in a home s porch or side garden and trawl for evidence with impunity; the right to retreat
would be significantly diminished if the police could enter a man s property to observe his
repose from just outside the front window (Flordia v. Jardines, 2013). In other words what would
be the point of the inside of a home holding fourth amendment protections if the outside of a
home held no protections and an officer could just lurk around and look inside a home in efforts
to find evidence without a warrant; with this being said, it is safe to assume that the immediate
areas surrounding a home holds fourth amendment protection and is secure against a dog sniff
because a sniffer dog is a dog trained to use its sense of smell to detect substances such as
explosives, illegal drugs, wildlife scat, or blood (Wikipedia, n.d.) that can be hidden inside the
home. When an officer brings a companion, in this case a dog, for the purpose of finding
evidence, to the outside of person s home, a fourth Amendment violation has occurred. The
problem isn t the dog sniff itself, the problem is when an officer trespasses into a person s
property, in which society feels they have fourth amendment protection, with a trained dog in
efforts to find evidence. A dog sniff itself can be used in public places or borders for public safety,
but it is

Daemon s Personality And Identity In The Golden Compass
In The Golden Compass, daemons act as an extension or real life manifestation of someone s
consciousness or soul. They take physical form as animals, revealing information about the
character s personality and identity. Daemons are always by your side, basically like wearing
your heart on your sleeve. It is more than just a soul however, a daemon is also like a friend
/extension of yourself that you can talk to as a friend wherever you go. You can talk to your own
daemon like you talk to yourself, so daemons have a very close connection with its owner .
Everyone has one, but children s daemons tend to switch around as they go through puberty, which
is a pretty good representation of how the teenage/child soul can fluctuate wildly at the age period.

Daemons can tell us a lot about someone s personality similar people have similar daemons. For
example, servants have dog daemons, which denotes loyalty. Witches all have bird daemons,
probably because they both fly. We can decipher some underlying information about a character by
examining their daemon, because they are all representative of the consciousness and feelings of
its owner. For example, Mrs. Coulter has a golden monkey for a daemon, which denotes beauty
from the gold, but potentially mischievous intentions from the monkey. Lord Asriel has a snow
leopard for a daemon, which reflects his power, coldness, and potential aggressiveness. The
interaction between two character s daemons can be representative of how those two characters will

China s Stature As A Political As Well As Economic...
Synopsis:
China s stature as a political as well as economic hegemon continues to grow well into the second
decade of the 21st century. This has led many to believe that the Chinese Renminbi (which is
denominated in the Yuan, and hence, referred hereafter as such) may soon eclipse the United States
Dollar (USD) as the World Reserve Currency(WRC).
Such claims of a currency of a large economy eclipsing the USD as the WRC have been rife in
the past. In its heyday, Japan s Yen was thought to have the capacity to overthrow the USD s
dominating position in the 1970 s. After that, the German Mark was widely expected to do the
same in the 1980 s. And later, the Eurotoo was theorized to be the next WRC.
The major aim of this paper is to give economic and political arguments to show that the Yuan will
similarly not succeed to dethrone USD as the world s most dominant currency.
This essay is divided into several sections. The first section deals with defining what exactly the
author means by World Reserve Currency and Dominant Currency because without underlying
this, the issue becomes vague and ambiguous. The second section seeks to answer the factors
affecting currency compositions of reserves across the world and will briefly argue why the USD
(and not the Yuan or any other currency) continues to fit the bill as the perfect reserve currency. It
is followed by section three which asks why the tag of World Reserve Currency is so important
and also answers why the

Surrealism In Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong
In many war stories, people become intrigued with the events that happened during the war and
are very curious what happened. They become interested in it because the storyteller gives a
very deep description about everything, whether it s from violence or gory happenings.
However, not all war stories are all true. The stories that some storytellers explain becomes
surrealism. Surrealism is a mixture of fact and fantasy, where it will become unreal or bizarre.
Some parts of the story will be real, and some will be unreal and over the top. Usually, surrealism
is added to the story, because if they say the actual, true story of what happened during the war,
then sometimes the people who are listening will get bored. Surrealism adds more of an... Show

Different soldiers tell the story of what happened during the war, but sometimes, we don t know
if it is true. For example, in the chapter of, Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, one of the soldiers,
Mark Fossie, flies over his girlfriend, Mary Anne, to their camp site. He expected her to stay
with him for the rest of her vacation there, but then her curiosity of Vietnam got to her. Mary
Anne was curious of what Vietnam was like, so she goes out of the campsite and explores the
country. When Mark Fossie realizes that she was gone, he searches for her, but he couldn t find
her. One day, once he found her, he realized that she was the Greenies and that she was practicing
Vietnam s tradition. But the grotesque part, he said, was her jewelry. At the girl s throat was a
necklace of human tongues. Elongated and narrow, like pieces of blackened leather, the tongues
were threaded along a length of copper wire, one tongue overlapping the next, the tips curled
upwards if caught in a final shrill syllable (105 106). She wore a necklace that had tongues on it,
which was the tradition of the Vietnamese people. In the end of the story, she became part of that

Gattaca Self Determination Essay
The role of self determination is quite present throughout multiple scenes within the movie
involving Vincent and his brother competing in their own swimming contest dubbed Chicken in
which they attempt to out swim the other. Initially, Anton outswims brother in almost every race
because of his innate physical advantages not due to his determination as throughout Anton s life he
never had to try due to him being a valid. Though Vincent eventually succeeds and beats his brother
in chicken as through sheer determination as unlike Anton, Vincent was constantly told that he was
naturally inferior. Every time he swam against Anton, he put in all his effort. This is the first
demonstration of the role of self determinationwithin the film as despite losing almost every time
Vincent does not lose hope but instead becomes more determined than before. This proves to
Vincent that if he is capable of beating his valid brother, he is able to fulfil his dream of
becoming an astronaut at Gattaca. The role of self determination is also apparent towards the
end of the movie in which the two brothers play chicken one last time in which Vincent beats his
brother once more. Anton yells, Vincent! How are you doing this Vincent? How have you done
any of this? We have to go back. To which Vincent later replies, You wanna know how I did it?
This is how I did it Anton. I never saved anything for the swim back. This shows that Vincent is
100% dedicated to the task that he is willing to

Identify and analyze the GI Bill.
At the end of World War II, in order to make the transition to civilian life for returning soldiers
easier, Congress had passed the Servicemen s Readjustment Act of 1944, otherwise known as the GI
Bill. This bill provided veterans low cost mortgages to facilitate home ownership, Veterans

for college or vocational school. However, for African American and Japanese American veterans,
they were entirely barred from moving into predominantly white neighborhoods, but into ethnic

Hafu Essay
Hafu is the term used in Japan to describe children of half Japanese descent. This term is derived
from the English
Half which, when used in the Japanese language, indicates that a person is only half of the
Japanese culture. According to Hafu Japanese the term Hafu originated in the 1970s and is now
the most commonly used label for half Japanese children (Hafu Japanese, 2010). Being called
half might seem like an insult to some people, in Japan it is not really meant this way. In a
YouTube video Japanese got asked about what image they have about Hafu, most of them
answered that they wanted to be a Hafu as well. Almost all the answers to this question were
positive; they are pretty, they have long legs, they have the best of both worlds. The majority of
the Japanese seem to have positive views on what it is like to be a Hafu, but they might not have
a proper understanding of what it is like to be Hafu. So despite the positive image the Japanese
have, life in Japan is not easy for people with mixed roots (Views from the street on Hafu, 2010).
Japan is a very homogenous country. Research from 2013 shows that foreigners make up 1.5% of
the populace of Japan (Japan Times, 2013). While the number might have risen quite a bit now in
2015, the discrimination against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Jean Piaget s Theory Of Education Psychologists Jean Piaget s and Lev Vygotsky s contributions to our knowledge about cognitive development and learning, forms the foundations of modern education. Both men s work was revolutionary for their times, underpinning the transformative shift to a constructivist way of thinking, which emerged as the most significant influence on education of the 21st Century (James Bader, 2002). Piaget, was the first psychologist to investigate the world from the perspective of the child, determining that children and adults had different cognitive processes, while Vygotsky, formed the influential Social cultural Development Theory. As evident in the example of Mr Gina and Miss Van, despite criticisms, both men s work and the extensive research... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wood et al (1976) found it to be the most effective method of teaching for children when observing mother child interaction. Furthermore, Palincsar and Brown (1984,1989) in their adoption and application of Vygotsky s scaffolding, social interaction and use of language in their reciprocal teaching approach, provide support for the theory. Analysis Both Piaget and Vygotsky s theories are evident within the modern classroom. Mr Gina within his high school classroom, has adopted various practices of Mrs Van primary classroom to engage and improve the learning of his students. These practices are heavily influenced by Piaget and Vygotsky s theories and their foundations in constructivism, which emphasises the active role of the learner in development. Piaget s proposed process of cognitive development adaptation , through equilibrium is evident within the classroom. Adaptation is the process by which we adjusting our ideas and knowledge to new situations through the modification of pre existing or new schemas (Duchesne and McMaugh, 2016). Mr Gina uses groups of 1 4 students and encourages them to talk, engage and share their opinions even if they are unsure, as well as utilising an independent learning centres on class topics, a reading corner and knowledge space. • 3. Greek vs. Roman Theatre Essay Historic playwrights such as Sophocles, Euripides, Aeschylus, and Seneca were described as prolific philosophers and geniuses of their times. These men actively participated in the politics surrounding them, and were respected and revered in their society. Each had their own individual style and portrayed their personalities through each of their noted works. Nevertheless, as with a majority of playwrights throughout history, most fodder for their plays have been adaptations of previous plays written by their predecessors or based off mythological events. Unfortunately, this had lead to many speculative accusations and criticisms, as is the case with Senecan tragedies versus their Greek counterparts. Senecan and Greek interpretations of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, while the Greeks put on masks to create new forms of life, Romans put on masks to resurrect a dead being (Wiles 129). Professional actors received training in life to imitate these dead beings, a reason as to why Seneca disliked the premise of an actor playing multiple roles because actors specialized in one character (Wiles 130). These masks veered away from neutrality to more stock characteristics, much like commedia dell arte, and remained as such for recorded history, and because there is records of Seneca performing his work, there is no proof that he used different masks. A final cultural difference is the importance of the chorus and its use in the plays Agamemnon, Oedipus, and Medea. The chorus was not highly involved in the action of the plays. In general, the chorus main functions were to create a psychological and emotional background to the action through its odes. It introduces and questions new characters, as well as point out the importance of events as they occurred, to establish facts and avow the outlook of society. Finally, the chorus covers the passage of time, between events, and separates episodes (Calder 21). Within the play Agamemnon, by Aeschylus, the chorus represents the voice of wisdom of the city as well as its limitations (Novelguide). The chorus limitations are clear when they fail to ... • 4. Contribution Of Confucius Confucius was born in 551 BC and died in 479 BC at age seventy two. He was a great influence on chinese teachings. He was widely known as Master for the great influence he brought upon central China. The translation of his name literally means Master Kong. He was the author and editor of several chinese texts. After his death, these texts and teachings were created into the Analects. The Analects reflect and provide discussions of Confuciusand his disciples. Through the reading of the thirteenth and fourteenth chapters from the Analects, one can conclude that Confucius taught governmental morality, the behavior of a ruler, how rulers should maintain order, and mistakes of rulers. Confucius taught that government should be strict and precise. In government, princes were to appoint the minister by following the rules of propriety. Ministers were to follow the orders of the prince with adherence. The ruler should appoint office positions to whom they know. In government, the ruler must rectify himself and others. Confucius thought that the first thing to be done in a government was to rectify names to ensure social harmony. The rectifying of names was crucial because they needed to be correct so that the language of things was the truth. The language of things needed to be truthful to ensure success of things. Without the success of things, music and proprieties would not prosper. When these things do not thrive, order is not restored and the people would not be aware of how ... Quest for Identity in The Life of Galileo by Brecht Throughout the course of history, from era to era, mankind has been on a continuous attempt to perpetuate what they perceive as the truth; and in doing so, embark on a quest to find their true identity and place in life. One must realize that the common theme in all literature is the search for identity and belonging. Bertolt Brecht, author of The Life of Galileo, effectively uses the developing character Galileo Galilei to portray a strong message; a message which five hundred years after the fact has still not been completely comprehended. Through Galileo s continuous battle with the Church in prevailing his work, Brecht is telling the readers that in any one man s attempt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Development and change are issues which the church fears due to the fact that advancement undermine the strength of the chruch when changes are brought to religion. The church s opinion and attitude towards Galileo s discoveries are clearly outlined by Sagredo on Pg. 23 as he states: Do you think the Popes will hear your truth and say Wonderful, I m wrong. Do you think he ll even listen to you? ...When I saw you just now, at the telescope, looking at your new stars I saw you standing on burning logs. When I heard you say I believe in reason I smelt burnt flesh. (Brecht 23) What Brecht is telling us through the use of Galileo and his stubborn and persistent need to present his findings, is that even though one is presented with adversities, in Galileo s case, the church, one must continue to use reason to spread the truth. In any case, Galileo believes that religion does not necessarily have to be sacrificed in order to advance a society in terms of technology. At this point in the play, he believes that the use of reason can overcome any obstacle in the attempt to prevail the truth; in a sense, what Brecht is telling the readers through Galileo s stance against the church is that the ability to think, innovate, and propagate the truth are the key requirments that will enhance our society. In this case, Galileo is faced time and time again with adversaries that tell him to stop what he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This nonfiction biographical movie of the character John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) fascinates the viewers with his charming self, witty audacity, and bold bravery of his gangster style bank robberies during the Depression era of America s greatest crime wave. Characters such as Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum), Homer Van Meter (Stephen Dorff), and Evelyn Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard) displayed their elusiveness of the federal agents with their burglaries through Ohio and Indiana as the American gangsters. Labeled by J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) as America s first Public Enemy Number One, Dillinger s brashness erupted even more. The enlistment of FBI s top agent, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), gave the instructional task of bringing in this charismatic and troubling evildoer Dillinger dead or alive. Nevertheless, this movie introduced us to this charming character Dillinger. While admittedly a good movie, the Gangs of New York is a great recommendation for fun, but if comparing it with history the movie is just pure fiction. An overdramatized, thug life of a man in past New York seeking revenge for the death of his father by the hands of Bill the Butcher. Before I get in to my argument against Napoleon, I would like to provide you with some background details of my personal relationship to Napoleon, so my credentials be known and taken into consideration when deciding the ultimate verdict. Although born in Corsica in 1775, I was educated in Franceat the College of Auton, the military school in Brienne and the seminary in Aix en Provence. In 1789, I returned to Corsica to join the Jacobin Club, and to bring the fight to the oppressive ruler, Pasquale Paoli. I was a fervent opponent of tyranny, and even went to France to solicit help towards the fight against Paoli. I then became a devout Jacobin in the South of France. It is with this strong background of fighting tyranny that I am qualified to express my discontent for Napoleon and his traitorous rule, in which he failed to follow many revolutionary ideals. • 25. Neurotransmitters And Its Effect On The Brain Neurotransmitters communicate by transmitting signals from a neuron to a target cell through a synapse. Before this communication can happen, the neurotransmitter must be synthesized and stored in vesicles so that when an action potential arrives, the cell is ready to fuss with the membrane of the neuron. When the synaptic vesicleis ready, the final triggering of vesicle fusion with the presynaptic terminal membrane occurs rapidly in response to the action potentialinvasion of the terminal. This step is highly dependent on calcium ions, which enter the terminal through voltage gated calcium channels (Steinberg Walton, 1978; Westenbrock, 1981). This action potential causing the opening of calcium channels for calcium ions to stream into the presynaptic cleft. The presence of calcium ions cause the synaptic vesicle to open and release neurotransmitters which fuses into the cleft. Miledi (1967) suggested that the idea that calcium entry into the terminal is a key step in the neurotransmitter release process formed the basis of what is known as the calcium hypothesis. Next, when an action potential does arrive at the terminal, the neurotransmitter is released from the terminal into the synaptic cleft. When the neurotransmitter arrives into the synaptic cleft, it must be recognized by its own receptors in the postsynaptic cell to create the binding action, causing ion channels to open, thus changing membrane potential and initiating another action potential. The purpose of the essay is to show how engineering and the humanities are linked together and are needed simultaneously. The summer vacation of 2014 really struck my attention when something very alarming happened. My mother, father, brother, two cousins (Cade and Callie), and my uncle Al, and aunt Kris, and I were all getting ready to board the subway below the streets of Washington D.C. This was not my first ordeal with the putrid, murky railway; whereas it was my relatives first time. First, Cade and Drayton boarded the subway. Next, was Callie, and lastly, myself who all walked onto the subway. The doors began to close; warning us with a blaring beep, beep, beep! As my family and I walked down the long stretch of the stairs, we heard a great deal of chatter. The air was murky and the lights were dim. Our fathers paid instantly, and my family and I were on our way. The subway came after waiting a maximum of five minutes. Before we boarded the subway, we assisted a father with his child in a stroller to exit the train before the doors closed. After helping that family, my own family and I were very excited to finally get onto the metro train and then visit the monuments. Suddenly, we heard this bizarre beeping sound, let s just say no one knew what it meant at the time. First, rushed Cade and Drayton. Next, Callie and I followed, hustling onto the subway. The doors closed; again, blaring a beep, beep, beep; just like it did before we got on. From the inside the subway doors, it s ironic seeing your parents trying to reopen the doors, on the other side. It was puzzling and unreal. Wait! No! I screamed. Our parents are out there! shouted Callie. First, I thought to call one of our parents. Did any of you bring your phones? I asked Cade and Callie. Just to our luck, Cade and Callie both replied, No we left them at the hotel this morning. Secondly, I thought we could ask someone on the subway for the phone. Sadly, everyone else was carrying on with their own life; it almost felt as if we all were all alone in the subway. • 33. Stono Rebellion And The Security Act Of 1739 Stono Rebellion On Sunday, September 9th, 1739 the British colony of South Carolina was shaken by a slave uprising that culminated with the death of sixty people (Foster). This was one of the first major slave revolts in which many slaves tried to escape to freedom. The fact that it was Sunday affected the timing of the revolt. The promise of freedom that the Spanish made, contributed to the idea of rebellion. This rebellion forced a negative compromise towards the slaves because all of the slave codes became even more strict; even though there was no long term effect of the uprising. In 1739, the Stono Rebellion created conflict between slaves and South Carolinian elite landowners which resulted in slaves being forced to endure stricter slave codes. First of all, the Stono Rebellion was led by an Angolan named Jemmy in South Carolina in 1739. This uprising occurred because slaves in Southern South Carolina wanted to escape to freedom. The enacting of the Security Act of 1739, the fact that it was a Sunday, and the malaria epidemic in the Charlestown were three factors that influenced the timing of Stono Rebellion. The Security Act of 1739 required all white males to carry their firearms to church. Because most of the armed males went to church (on sunday), they were not ready for a rebellion. Furthermore, the malaria epidemic had also weakened many militiamen and regular men to the point of them not being able to fight or function very well. Jemmy and his ... • 35. Election Explanation Through Sociological Theories Election Explanation through Sociological Theories The 2016 U.S Presidential Election ended on November 19th, yet many people did not expect or even think about the result of Trump becoming our 45th president. Although many people in California did not accept the fact that our first female candidate was defeated and lost the election, it is reasonable to explain some surprising observations and results of the election by looking through the lens of sociological theories. 1. 63% of white men and 53% of white women did not vote for Clinton. As our first female presidential candidate, it was controversial towards her ability be competent to manage a country. Although many people are pursuing gender equality in America, they still hold prejudices and discrimination towards women because of their vulnerable image. It is not surprising that more than half of white men choose to vote for Trump instead of Clinton by Christine Williams s concept of Glass ceiling glass escalator. Williams argued that women in the United States face the predicament of Glass Ceiling, invisible barriers that restrains their promotion in male dominated jobs. On contrary, men are considered to be Glass Escalators in which they are push up in their professions by invisible pressures. • 36. Physics Of Kinetic Energy And Stopping Distance Newton s law of inertia states that an object in motion will stay in motion until an equal and opposite force stops it. In a collision, a driver s car is stopped by another object (Ex: another car, a tree, a lamp post). Anything not attached to the car will continue to move forward because they are not stopped by the force that halted the car. Therefore a person who is not wearing a seatbelt during a collision would fly to the front of the car until they hit something (Ex: the dashboard, the wheel, a car seat). The stopping distance of the vehicle going 60 mph would be four times greater than that of the vehicle going 30 mph. This is because kinetic energyincreases exponentially along with velocity. From my prior knowledge in physics, I know that the formula for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mass, kinetic energy, and stopping distance have a direct relationship so if the mass of the vehicle goes up, the kinetic energy increases, and so does the braking distance. This can be proven by the equation KE= 1/2mv2, as mention in the answer to the previous question. Assuming the vehicles velocities are the same, mass is directly correlated to kinetic energy. Kinetic energy and stopping distance have a direct relationship, as explained in the previous answer. To prepare to enter sharp curves, a driver should slow down. Lowering the velocity of a car decreases the kinetic energy in the car. This means the braking distance would be shorter since there is less kinetic energy to convert. Drivers that travel at a slower speed and have a short braking distance can pass through sharp curves easier because they have more control over the vehicle and can stop if the vehicle gets too close to the edge of the road.A reason why car crashes have different levels of injuries is that the force of impact varies in distinctive situations. The force of impact in accidents depends on the size, weight, and speed of the colliding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By selling the financial instruments, the central bank mops up the cash in circulation. On the other hand, selling injects money thus increasing the supply of money (Bernanke 2006). Interest rates By increasing or reducing the nominal interest rates, the money supply is either increased or reduced. When the rate goes up, people are not able to borrow, thus the money does not enter into circulation. But when the rates go down, people borrow in big numbers therefore increasing the money supply. So the monetary authority just needs to adjust the interest rates either upwards or downwards, and in direct results will be reflected on the money on circulation. Discount window lending This is the situation where the commercial banks and other lending institutions borrow from the central bank at lower interest rates compared to how they will lend. This gives the institution a chance to vary credit conditions depending on the central bank lending rates. • 42. Morality Of Animals In Life Of Pi, By Yann Martel Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel, follows the life of Piscine Molitor Patel who physically endured over two hundred days on a directionless lifeboat with only a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker as a companion. When Pi is first recovered and put into a hospital, he is forced to recount his detailed story to a couple of judgemental Japanese correspondents, Mr.Okamoto and Mr.Chiba, who not only do not believe his story, but laugh in his face as he vocalizes it. They believe Pi s tale is nothing more than just that; a fictional tale which he invented. Despite Pi embellishing the events that occurred into almost complete fiction and unbelievability, such events did happen, just not in the same way Pi explains. With taking Mamaji s initial promise into consideration, Pi s story involving animals is the better story. To begin Martel s novel Mamaji says that Pi s story was one that would make one believe in God. The story without animals is not only brutal, depressing, and traumatizing but it also disregards the fun of believing in something for the sole purpose of wanting to. Pi Patel furthers this idea when he says If you stumble at mere believability, what are you living for?...Love is hard to believe, ask any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. (Martel 297). Pi explains it best, his story with animals may be unbelievable;however, unbelievable things occur every day. He agrees with the condescending Japanese men, in the aspect that his story is unimaginable, yet challenges them by forcing them to think. The animals story allowed Pi to believe the unbelievable in order to save his own humanity. Pi s belief that Richard Parker was real, permitted him to push away the realistic trauma he would ve endured if he faced the truth. In the beginning of Martel s novel, Pi is a young, pure, innocent, pacifistic, vegetarian boy who just wants something to believe in, a purpose. Pi allows Richard Parker, his very own, large orange symbol of hope, be the survival side of himself that he has yet to accept. He is constantly running from his behavior by placing it onto Richard Parker. This allows Pi to think the tiger saves his inner past version of himself. It was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A person to be secure in their home would be of little practical value if the State s agents could stand in a home s porch or side garden and trawl for evidence with impunity; the right to retreat would be significantly diminished if the police could enter a man s property to observe his repose from just outside the front window (Flordia v. Jardines, 2013). In other words what would be the point of the inside of a home holding fourth amendment protections if the outside of a home held no protections and an officer could just lurk around and look inside a home in efforts to find evidence without a warrant; with this being said, it is safe to assume that the immediate areas surrounding a home holds fourth amendment protection and is secure against a dog sniff because a sniffer dog is a dog trained to use its sense of smell to detect substances such as explosives, illegal drugs, wildlife scat, or blood (Wikipedia, n.d.) that can be hidden inside the home. When an officer brings a companion, in this case a dog, for the purpose of finding evidence, to the outside of person s home, a fourth Amendment violation has occurred. The problem isn t the dog sniff itself, the problem is when an officer trespasses into a person s property, in which society feels they have fourth amendment protection, with a trained dog in efforts to find evidence. Such claims of a currency of a large economy eclipsing the USD as the WRC have been rife in the past.
