The Lesson And Orientation In The Lesson, By Toni Cade...
Literary Analysis of the Lesson Orientation In The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara, the underlying
theme is education, where the provision of learning and understanding occurs outside the typical
classroom environment. It is important to note that the most striking thingabout Ms. Moore is her
superlative academic achievement, making her stand out from other women in the community. The
lady is so supportive of education that she offers to give the children a practical lesson, contrary to
their specifications. Summer season is known for holidays, which is not the case for the group of
children dragged into the central business district (Bambara 1). It is this condition that allows her to
educate the children and improve their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protagonist was so motivated to teach the children such that she accompanied the students even
when school was out of session. Sylvia is the antagonist in this story, owing to the way in which the
youngster differentiated her values from Ms. Moore s. Sylvia used her interaction skills to sway the
group s attention away from the teacher, particularly at the endof the story when she slipped out of the
group in search of chocolate (Bambara 6). To add salt to injury, Sylvia wasted no time in returning the
lion s share of Ms. Moore s money, seeing the opportunity to buy chocolates and other confectionary.
The exposition of the story lies in the rising wave of inequality, especially among African American
communities. The rising action in the story is when the children get busy ogling at the expensive toys
on display, which builds the tension associated with poverty. Alternatively, the story s climax is when
thestudents realize the moral of the lesson, which is economic inequality within urbanareas. The
falling action occurs when Sylvia and Sugar tear away from the group in search of the ill gained
confectionary. The denouement of the story is when the children realize the value of money and its
impact on society. Such a scene is present when the children began thinking of different ways the
exorbitant prices could change their lives, such as

Cochlear Implants Research Paper
Cochlear implants are biomedical devices that help individuals with severe hearing impairments with
auditory sensation. In order to process sound cochlear implants include external and internal
components. A microphone, which is part of the external component gathers sound (Petersona,
Pisonia, Miyamoto, 2010). These sound waves from the environment are transferred into electrical
signals (Petersen, Gjedde, Wallentin, Vuust, 2013). The electrical signals are then organized through a
series of filters. After this step is completed, the signals are conveyed across the skin to a receiver
within the internal components. In the implanted device, further conversion occurs and the signals are
delivered to an array of electrodes within the cochlea. Each signal is directed to a specific electrode,
this method utilizes tonotopic representation and coding of frequency. Lastly, the electrodes stimulate
the auditory nerve (Petersona et al., 2010). These are the main processes involved in the application of
cochlear implants. This paper explores some of the current research related to the application of
cochlear implants including: language abilities, plasticity and areas for further research. In the last
couple of decades vast amounts of research has been completed related to cochlear implants and
language or communication skills; a literature review was completed by Petersona et al., which
included information on the anticipated results of implantation and ... Show more content on

Gender Labeling Research Paper
Throughout history, some babies have always been born with ambiguous genitalia, partially formed
sex organs, micro organs, or organs of both sexes. This was either due to deviations in the anatomical
development of the fetus and because of exposure during fetal gestation to hormones and chemicals.
To describe such people, sexologists have gradually begun to use the more neutral term intersex
children or children with developmental sex disorders. However, various ethical issues come in light
as these children grow into adults or when physicians assign a gender to babies following the
traditional view of gender labeling means a happy adjustment in school, in the family, and in society.
Intersex and transsexual labeling especially create problems in sports where athletes must compete
with as female or male. Transgender differs from intersex such that transgender people feel they live
in a body of the wrong gender hence seeking hormone therapy while intersex have abnormal sex
organs. Both kinds of people want the right to choose their gender and may seek hormones and
surgery to do so. One such example is an ophthalmologist Richard Raskind who underwent surgery to
become Rene Richards and competed on the professional women s tennis circuit creating a huge
controversy. Another example is of South African runner Caster Semenya, ... Show more content on

Another researcher, Milton Diamond, believed that biology and hormones made gender identity, not
childhood socialization, and hence, became a life long skeptic of John Money s views on the social

experience. so he says that although biology may be destiny, it a biology that s part genes and part

The Actions That Led to Boston Tea Party: 1773
On December 16, 1773, American Patriots disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians boarded the ships
of the East Indian Company docked in the Boston Harbor, and poured all the tea that was on the three
ships into the ocean. They emptied three hundred forty two chests of tea which was valued at more
than 10,000 pounds. This event became known as the Boston Tea Party. It was a reaction to the Tea
Act of 1773. The Tea Party was the key event that started the Revolutionary War. There were some
key events that led up to the Boston Tea Party such as; the Stamp Act of 1765, the Tea Act of 1773, the
consequences of the Boston Tea Party was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tea Act of 1773 was imposed by the British government, its main purpose was not to raise the
income from the colonies but to bail out the struggling East India Company, which was a key factor in
the British government. The British government granted the company a exclusive possession on the
incoming and sale of tea in the colonies. The colonists had never accepted the authority of the duty on
tea, and the Tea Act rekindled their opposition to it. This act was also passed because there was plenty
of tea left to rot in a warehouse, so with an attempt to save the troubled enterprise the British
Parliament passed the Tea Act. The act granted the company the right to ship the tea directly to the
colonies and to commission agents, which had the right to sell tea in the different colonies. Later, the
Tea Act effectively lowered the price of the East India Company s tea in colonies, since they did not
longer have to pay an additional tax in England.
The Boston Tea Party happened on the 16th of December in 1773. This was a pre revolutionary
incident that was a direct protest by colonists in Boston against the Tea Tax that was imposed by the
British government. Boston Patriots, dressed as Mohawk Indians, and raided three British ships, the
Dartmouth, Beaver and Eleanor. The consignees, which was under the pressure of the Patriots, in
Charleston, New York, and Philadelphia, they refused to accept the tea shipments,

Difference Between AAOIFRS And IFRS
Comparison Between AAOIFI IFRS
Under the economic globalization and the rapid development of Islamic finance in recent years, the
business activities with Islamic countries became a worldwide focus. However, it is notable that the
conventional accounting system would face a challenge with the compliance of Shariah. Therefore,
the Islamic accounting standards AAOIFI were developed due to of the existing problem with the
adoption of the convention accounting standards (IFRS). In this chapter, to illustrate the difference
among IFRS and AAOIFI, the general description of these two accounting standards will be presented,
followed by the distinguishing between the adoption as well as the comparison of some specific
accounting treatments. At the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, the company can issue shares, and hand out the dividends, or issue bonds and pay the
interest; moreover, taking a loan from the bank with interest is an alternative. However, in Islamic
accounting, the interest is not allowed, which prevent the company from raising the fund through last
two options. Thus, the Mudaraba is widely applied in Islamic economies. Mudaraba is a kind of
partnership which one party provides money to a commercial enterprise, and the funds are managed
by a third party based on Mudaraba investment management agreement. For example, the depositor
can authorize the Islamic bank to manage their funds, and get profit from the return on the funds
invested.
For the Mudaraba investment found, AAOIFI standards require presenting the funds in a separate item
between liabilities and equity in the statement of financial position. On the contrary, compliant with
IFRS, the fund will be recorded as liability.

The current system of the LCBO, the Beer Store and the off site winery stores perform nearly identical
functions in providing alcoholic beverages and products to consumers. In fact, their retail stores are
sometimes located across the street from one another. But limited competition and separate business
objectives prevent these companies from capitalizing on each other s profits and market shares.
The LCBO and the Beer Store also act as wholesalers to each other and to agency stores, licensed
establishments and duty free stores, depending on the type of product(Exhibit 3 and 4). Unlike the
wholesale of domestic wines, spirits and foreign imports, the domestic beer manufactures deliver their
products to the Beer Store wholesale system. It has seven regional depots and ships the products with
its own truck fleet (291 distribution fleet vehicles) to the Beer Store stores, LCBO retail store, licensee
depots and agency stores across the province. However, the domestic beer manufacturers could deliver
their products directly to the LCBO retail store, licensee depots and duty free stores.

The Controversial Topic of Genetic Testing
Genetic testing has become a highly controversial issue among both the general population and the
scientific community. It is a process that exposes a person s entire genome sequence, allowing it to be
read and evaluated to identify potential risks for genetic diseases or diseases that could be passed onto
offspring (Holt Productions, 2012). With thousands of genetic tests already being used, and more
being established, it seems logical to put this growing technology to use. Some agree that it is a person
s right to know and understand his or her genetic makeup. However, others argue that, despite the
benefits of genetic testing, caution should be used to carefully inspect the risks associated with this
new technology.
Relatively simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Embryonic screening allows for the elimination of inherited diseases before birth or a treatment plan
before birth. In breast cancer patients, genetic testing allows the physician to know if chemotherapy is
necessary, which would expand treatment options. Genetic testing could eliminate years of
experimental testing and medication use used to diagnose a new disease. Overall, genetic testing is in
alignment with the core medical philosophy that early prevention leads to early treatment, which leads
to an overall better outcome for the patient.
The opposing side argues, however, that society is not ready for this technology. People may not be
capable of handling the emotional or psychological stress associated with genetic testing. Results may
vary between genetic testing companies and many variables, such as sampling errors, could lead to a
false positive or false negative test. Further, it is possible that some people may interpret the
seriousness or implications of their results incorrectly. This could result in people making unnecessary,
and even dangerous, lifestyle changes. For example, if a person is told that he or she has a 60% of
being diagnosed with breast cancer, that person may undergo preventative surgery to avoid the
disease; however, such surgery may have been unnecessary, as the person may never have developed
the disease.
Additionally, as the popularity of genetic testing increases, some fear that a

Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France
This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax
was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks
consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar.
A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered
indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market
outcomes.
Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was
allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price)
and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy
drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax .
Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy
drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks
decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers
are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased
significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the
government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks
ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of

Systems For Humans Can Not Function Without Clean Water
Many systems for humans would not function without clean water, such as: water supply, sanitation,
agriculture, and health, which are dependent on fresh water supply. We also often get our drinking
water from lakes and rivers and with healthier water systems come a healthier food chain. This is
because all animals and plants depend upon the water on the earth. There is a connection between the
changes in fish habitations and the composition of species in these habitats (Komatsu, Fukushima, and
Harasawa, 2007), and healthy water systems. Increased temperature due to global warming leads to
the concentration increase of dissolved substances other than oxygen and an influx of species into the
warmer environment (Delpla, Jung, Baures, Clement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main source of dissolved organic carbon and other organic matter for surface water is soil
leaching (Delpla et al., 2009). The rate of leaching increases with the amount of rainfall, high
temperatures, and the removal of protective vegetation. Increased rainfall and drought have affected
runoff distributions and therefore is a major influence on dissolved organic carbon levels because dry
wet cycles have shown increased organic carbon following rewetting (Evans, Monteith, and Cooper,
2005)(Kundzewicz, Mata, Arnell, Döll, Jimenez, Miller, Oki, Şen, Shiklomanov, 2008). The increase
in dissolved organic carbon in surface water shows indications of more acidity as biodegraded organic
materials in natural substances are inherently acidifying agents (Erlandsson et al. 2011). Evidence
collected indicates that the organic acidity is also affected by land use (Guo and Gifford 2002) and
climate changes (Worrall et al. 2004). However, dissolved organic carbon supports growth of
microorganism and plays an important role in the global carbon cycle. It is an indicator of organic
material amounts in water, as well as supporting land processes, within soils and wetlands, of organic
matter. Although there are benefits of dissolved organic carbon in soils and wetlands, the potential
when an abundance is leached into surface water to interfere with health precautions, other organic
and non organic material, and microorganisms has caused these rising levels to

The Medical Examiner System Should Replace the Traditional...
Death is an elementary word harboring many meanings. It is the feeling of being caught in the grip of
inevitably. It is a personal realization that you too are mortal. It is the recognition that one s life is
changed forever. The shiny image of a once bright world full of promise dulls. Unfortunately, every
individual will experience the death of a loved one at least once in their life. No words can soothe the
agony of losing a loved one. State legislatures are familiar with this grief and have created either a
coroner system or a medical examiner system. A coroner system consists of a coroner whose

This method may have been sufficient in the 10th century when people were illiterate and believed the
world was flat; however, the scientific world since then has grown exponentially. Science is a
powerful study, aiding us in understanding the complex process life and the absence of life, death.
Pathology, the science of disease, has assisted in the arrests of countless criminals, uncovering the
truth and more notably providing a sense of closure for the loved ones of the deceased. A coroner
system without the foundation of science is a system that keeps murders on the streets, the innocent
behinds bars and prosecutors frozen in cases. The most memorable example of inefficiency is Dr. Paul
McGarry, who made careless errors in not just one but four autopsies. In the case of new prison inmate
Cayne Miceli, McGarry initially determined the cause of death to be a drug overdose. Upon the
further examination, a second examiner found a heap of mucus in her lungs indicating she had severe
asthma. The doctor then concluded the real cause of death was the jail restraints on her chest blocked
her airways during an asthma attack (Thompson, 2011, para 13 16). A peculiar fact about the case was
the McGarry concluded the cause of death before he got the test results. Could he had been trying to
hide something? After all, he is an elected official which according to the NAS

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ( Nicu )
Up to 12% of deliveries in developed countries are preterm. This is approximately 500,000 premature
births per year. In 2009, my cousin was born ten weeks prematurely, weighing merely two pounds,
four ounces. After spending a copious amount of time in and out of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
(NICU) with my family over the course of a month, I developed an interest in its operation. Being a
neonatologist became my leading occupation of interest. I chose to further research this topic in hopes
of finding out whether or not this is the career path for me. In my research paper, I plan to go into
further detail about the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), common medical conditions found in
premature infants, how to react and treat these medical conditions, and necessary education to become
a neonatologist.
Neonatology literally means science of the newborn. This gives a good explanation of what the job of
a neonatologist consists of. Neonatologists specialize in the study of newborns, ill infants, and
especially premature babies. For the majority of the time, neonatologists deal with premature infants.
They are trained to know all the possibilities and outcomes of each disease in existence. This helps a
neonatologist treat an infant to the best of their ability and provide each family with the best care
possible. According to the internet site, Neonatology on the Web, The word neonatology is stuck

Blue mountain resorts case study Essay
Blue Mountain resorts (Data collection)
1. Problem definition
Blue Mountain Resorts were first built in 1941, and it is the largest family operated ski resort in
Canada. The major problem in this case is that the CEO of the Blue Mountain Resorts has to decide
whether to install facilitates or not for the night skiing in 1979 1980 winter skiing season. Maintaining
comfortable capacity at ski resort is very important in this field of market. The capacity depends on
the hill size, hill development, and lift facilities. Therefore, to provide the night skiing service,
investing in hills and lifts are important factors. So, if the CEO decides to install the night skiing
facilities, he needs to decide the price of the single night lift ticket ... Show more content on

Among 2 intermediate levels, one advanced, and one beginner and intermediate level, one should be
chosen. I suggest the intermediate level to be opened since the night ski uses would mostly
intermediate high level users rather than beginners, and advanced level at night would be somehow
dangerous. The operating cost would be $1000 per night, adding seasonal allocation of $20,000 fixed
cost, $7.75 liability insurance per 1000 skiers, and $5000 for promotional cost. Therefore, the cost of
operating night skiing is, $1000*120days+$20,000+$5000+$7.75*30= $145,232.50 per year.
$135,000+$145,232.50=$280,232.50. The frequency of night skiing in cross tabulation of pass holder
status was mostly 1 10 times per year. They will come for two or more days. The profit calculation
will be approximately 2days* 5 times* $5.50=$55.0 per people for a year. 30,000 people*30%*$55=
$495,000 per year. This profit exceeds the cost, so the company should invest in facilitating the night
skiing.
The next step is to decide the type of the season pass and the ticket price. It could offer the special
night skiing season pass or combine it with the original day time season pass. For example, three types
of the passes which are; day pass, night pass, or combined pass. On the night skiing survey, fair price
showed to be $5 for midweek nights and $6 for weekend nights. Most people anticipated their skiing
days a year to 1 5 or more than 20. Also, the

Keep Your Head Up By Ben Howard
Keep Your Head Up Music is an art that has the capability of drawing out the deepest emotion within
us. For that very reason, we are extremely attracted to such art. Different genres attract diverse groups
of people. Often it is easy to spark memories within our consciousness by listening to particular songs.
For me personally, I have a bittersweet connection to the song, Keep Your Head Up, By Ben Howard
because the lyrics provoke happiness and encouragement, a couple of traits I struggle with at times,
yet the tune sparks beautiful memories with an estranged, beloved friend. My sophomore year of high
school was one of the hardest years I have ever been through, mentally and emotionally. Depression,
lack of self esteem, and addiction had always affected my life in some way, whether it be through
close family members or friends or within my own self. Through series of events, I found myself in a
terrible place in life in my sophomore year of high school, and I had not the slightest clue how to solve
it. At some points, I did not even really care to fix it. I struggled maintaining grades and maintaining
relationships with my friends as well as my parents. I was simply not a pleasant person to be around,
yet somehow, in all of this mess I called my life, someone special walked in, unexpectedly, and
managed to spark a change within me. We were instant best friends. People assumed we had known
each other since a young age, some even went to the extent of believing we

Devonian Rocks
Melbourne has a bedrock of Middle Paleozoic age which is included within the Devonian and Silurian
periods (354 441 million years prior). These rocks are overlain in wide zones which also include much
more youthful rocks, and were generally part of the Tertiary and Quaternary ages (2 65 mya). Rocks
of Early Silurian (441 mya) were discovered to be the most established within the bedrock. Particular

west side of Melbourne more specifically the Maribyrnong Valley around Keilor (Springfield

and south of Warrandyte were discovered to be more youthful, with different ages from Late Silurian
(418 mya) in the Melbourne Formation (city region) to Early Devonian (384 mya) at the Humevale
Formation (Lilydale).
These Paleozoic rocks are steeply plunging sandstones and siltstones, with a little event of limestone

while the Devonian rocks, which are exceptionally fossiliferous, appear to have been stored in
shallower water. These Silurian and Devonian rocks were folded into a progression of anticlines ...

Comparing Emily Bronte s And Frankenstein
What does it mean when one describes a noble beast , and to what extent must a damaged character
wreak havoc for their actions to be deemed monstrous? How do we define a monster? These questions
are posed to readers of Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, two novels tied by threads of revenge
and discrimination. Both stories are about created monsters and how they have been wronged by those
around them. Those monsters proceed to seek vengeance on the people who have harmed them.
Several parallels can be drawn between Heathcliff and Frankenstein s monster, although the
circumstances and results of their warping differ, and these comparisons help one determine whether
their actions are justified or are impossible to redeem. Both characters have been victims of abuse that
they did not deserve. Frankenstein created a grotesque creature who was still biologically human. His
horrendous appearance got him maltreatment from those around him, including getting scolded by his
own creator for existing, a feat that Victor himself committed. Heathcliff was also subject to
discrimination, due to low social status and even racism from his dark skin and questionable origin.

Transcendentalism In Henry David Thoreau
The Transcendentalism in Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau once said, It s not what you
look at that matters, it s what you see. Transcendentalists were often less concerned with what they
saw in front of them, and more concerned on what it meant. Transcendentalism is certainly about
forgetting the literal meaning of things and taking into account the divinity of them. Thoreau s
impression of this genre shows up regularly in his works. Henry David Thoreau s independence and
time with Emerson strengthened his as a transcendentalist as shown in Walden and A Winter s Walk.
Henry David Thoreau was a major figure in the transcendentalist movement. He was born in Concord,
Massachusetts on July 12, 1817 ( Henry David Thoreau biography.co). Richard J. Schneider s article,
Thoreau s Life reveals that he went to public school in Concord, then attended Concord Academy.
Thoreau was somewhat different than other children in Concord. As a child he rarely followed the
rules and was independent and strong willed (Brozo, et al. 377). Being independent as a child shows
up very clearly in Thoreau s adult life. Later Schneider states that Thoreau went to Harvard College
and graduated in the top of his class. However, he had to graduate early because he was very ill and
not financially able to continue. Thoreau worked at many places throughout the years. He taught at a

Squeaky Character Analysis
Some people s personalities are like pineapples. rough and tough on the outside and soft out in inside.
Take Squeaky for example. She is very rough on the inside. Her confidence makes her stay strong and
tough, but on the inside of her, is where she s caring for her brother, Raymond.
At first, you might interpret that Squeaky is not nice at all when she is really, is a confident girl who
does not like to be a chicken. This takes place in New York City on 34th street. When Squeaky is
walking down Broadway with Raymond, her brother, all of a sudden she sees Gretchen and her
sidekicks. Gretchen and her nasty sidekicks like to tease Raymond because Raymond has mental
disabilities.

coaching the 50 yard dash, two, Gretchen who is also participating in the same race with Squeaky.
Finally, three, Raymond, who is going to chant and help Squeaky by cheering her on with her race.
When Squeaky is talking to the coach it seems like she is a little angry at the coach.Squeaky is getting
ready for the race and the race official wants Squeaky to purposely lose the race, so she can give
someone else a break. Well Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker, gonna give someone else a break this

Executive Summary Following Alexander Graham Bell s development of the phone in 1876, he and
his money related supporters, Gardiner Hubbard and Thomas Sanders, framed the Bell Telephone
Company in 1877. AT T was fused in 1885 as an auxiliary of Bell, to fabricate and work the first long

The American War of Independence
The American Revolutionary War, also known as the War of Independence, began on April 19th, 1775
with the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The American Revolution was a war between the thirteen
colonies and Great Britian. The colonies wanted to gain independence from Great Britian. It was also
a rebellion against the monarchy, which lead to the establishment of the republic [CROSS]. The
outcome of the war was a victory for the thirteen colonies. The colonist gained independence and
British recognition. The Battle of Lexington and Concord was a significant battle because it was the
start of the Revolutionary War; there are many events that led to the colonist fighting back. The war
started because Great Britain was taxing the colonies. Great Britain imposed the Sugar Act, Stamp
Act, Townshend Acts, etc. It was taxation without representation. Many people wrote about what
colonists should do. John Dickinson wrote The Letters From a Pennsyvlanvia Farmer and Thomas
Paine wrote Common Sense . Both were the actions that they believed that colonist should take and
their opinion on the matters. Americans rebelled with the Boston Massacre in 1770 and the Boston Tea
Party in 1773 [CITE]. This caused Great Britain to enact the Coercive Acts. The Coercive Acts were
divided into three parts: Boston Port Act, Administration of Justice Act, and the Massachusetts
Government Act. The Boston Port Act shut down Boston s harbors in June of 1774 until the colonies

The Montagues And Capulets In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
The Montagues and Capulets feud interferes with Romeo and Juliet s relationship. If their feud never
happened they would still be alive. Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a story about
2 people who fall in love, but their families feud gets in the way. Parents play an important role in this
play for 3 reasons. The reasons are the feud and relationship between each other, their freedom
between who they want to marry, and neglecting Juliet. The montagues and Capulets feud interferes
with Romeo and Juliet s relationship. Romeo wonders if Juliet is a capulet. is she a Capulet? O dear
account! my life is my foe s debt. (I, v, 125 126). Romeo asks if Juliet is a Capulet. He says his life is
supposed to be his foe. Nurse tells Juliet about Romeo. His name is Romeo, and a montague, the only
son of your great enemy. (I,v, 145 146). Juliet explains that her only love is her supposed enemy. My

No Matter What Path God Calls A Missionary Essay
No matter what path God calls a missionary to, the initial goals are the same. These goals are: 1) Build
and edify the church, 2) Meeting needs, and 3) Spread the Gospel. The task of utmost importance is
that of building the church, a community of believers. It is through evangelizing that men come to
hear, know, and accept the redemptive plan of God through Jesus Christ. This is done by preaching
and teaching this message when opportunity arises. It is also done by living out your faith in the day to
day of mission life. We are to make the book of Acts our living example in growing and edifying a
body of believers (Warren 26 31) (Hodges 61 62)
Secondly, we are to meet the basic needs of that community and of those around us. These needs may
be physical, financial, or spiritual. Most often these needs will be physical at first and the later that
opens the door to the spiritual need. The Gospel of Christ is designed to meet all the needs of man. It
provides salvation for the soul and requires helping/loving those who are poor or destitute. One of the
first tasks for the missionary is to provide a Bible in the native tongue if one isn t available. This is the
sole mission of the parachurch group Wycliffe Translators. Other ministries to the native church will
be covered later in more depth. (Kane 297)
The last of the initial tasks for missions is spreading the Gospel. Once a strong, healthy body of
believers has been organized that is well provided for and self sufficient it

Growth Theories Of Growth And Growth Models
Growth Theories
Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed;
i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model
In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over
from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a
certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K).
The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock,
(K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new
investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This
relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k
and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%)
and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the
following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006).
Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation
S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1)
Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by ΔK such
that
I = ΔK ...................................................................................... (2.2)
But because the total capital stock, K, bears a direct relationship to total national income or output, Y,

America s Strategic Thinkers Who Think Asia Essay
This essay s topic required to evaluate the opinion that the US s strategic thinkers who think Asia is
more important than the Middle East, are said to be not understanding the situation of the States in
today s international context, and the affections onto its interests. Considering the importance of the
Middle East to Asia will be the focus of this paper, in which the writer agreed with the assumption.
Moreover, there will be reasons why the Middle East is still more important than Asia, along with
comparison for each. And by the end of this essay, with backing from the main part, the conclusion
will be able to show the supports for the mentioned opinion.
To begin, we will start with the historical background of the US with the Middle East and Asia (mostly
the US and the Middle East), in order to set a fundamental understanding.
American government, for the whole historical period was likely to pursue interests beyond her land s
border. There is an opinion that presidents since Harry Truman have recognized that there were four
basic interests in the Middle East the Security of Israel, access to oil, cooperation with the Soviet
Union (since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the interests doesn t exist anymore. Instead is
the relation with Russia), and the upholding of certain principles. (Tillman, 1982, p. 62) The United
States, nowadays has two main interests: one is the presence of oil and the other is the claim to
religious origins. Oil seems to be the

Writings Involvement with Self and Society The self is expressed in a multitude of ways ranging from
speeches to television as well as writing. Not only that but as human beings it is instinctual to make an
observation and write it down, but we tend to add our own personal view as to what we believe, or
interpret something entirely else from the observation. By reading Karen Ho s Biographies of

By Ho showing the mindset behind these people to the public she helped bring society to the

Iago Speech In Othello
Iago Speech Liam Gist
Is it such a crime to be an honest and good man? Imagine if you believed the wife of your closest
friend was cheating on him? Would you just let him go about his life whilst his wife was in bed with
another man? Well I ll tell you now, if that s what you would do, you re no friend. You might as well
be the man she was cheating with. What if your friend was going to commit suicide would you not do
everything you could to stop him? How about if your friend lost his job and you knew how he could
get it back, would you not help him? I m brought before the senate today, charged with doing nothing
but retaining as my title as Honest Iago and staying loyal to my comrades. So I ask you, do you really
believe I should be punished for being an honest man who simply cares for his friends when they are
in need?
Whilst in Venice, I learned that my dear friend Roderigo had fallen for Desdemona. When he
discovered she had married our noble General, Othello, he was filled with grief and was clearly
distraught after Desdemona confirmed she had married Othello. After the noble men had finished their
the meeting over the war in cypress, Rodrigo approached me. I could sense something wasn t right,
the tone of his voice, the expression upon his face, it was terrifying! Under pressure, I kept my
thoughts together and remained calm. Roderigo asked me what he should do. Confused, I told him to
go home and rest, for the trip to Cypress would be long and tiring. However in an emotional outburst,
he told me that he was going to go drown himself (1:3:301), I was taken by surprise, I acted quickly,
attempting to dispel any thought in his mind about this ridiculous idea. After a long period of
discussion, I persuaded him that he was being irrational and should go home and prepare for the trip to
Cypress instead. I had also replaced the idea of him drowning himself with the hope of winning
Desdemona s heart by putting money (1:3:330) towards his endeavours. If I were such an evil person
as these charges suggest I am, why would I support him in his time of need. What else would I get out
of this other than knowing I saved my dear friends life.

In business word wide the use of information technology systems is what keeps a business functioning
properly. Every business holds a substantial amount of information that they must learn to sort, utilize

information and technology. Payments, employee information, records, client information, all of this

This form of communication lets us communicate quickly and efficiently amongst each other, making
things much smoother for the customer because we do not transfer them around departments for
different issues. We also use this at management level for issues where another department told a

where it began and correct it internally.

The Decameron was named after one of Songsong s favorite books written by Giovanni Boccaccio in
the mid 14th century that consisted of a collection of 100 stories told by 10 different characters over
10 days. The significances of this stories are that they all surround the similar theme. Songsong used
Boccaccio s concept and applied to his work by interpreting an outsourced public photo of the 2004
National People s Congress. Songsong enlarged the NPC 2004 photo and cut it into 10 sections and
painted each section individually. When placed together the original photo could be seen at a larger
scale. Songsong s second piece is Cuban Sugar which is a representation of an image of when China
went through a domestic sugar cane production. Its titled the Cuban Sugar as a representation of this
event reflecting the political conflict of interest through fractured independent sections of the full
piece of work. Completing Songsong s painting are individual sections within the painting with
different texture and color, suggesting a layered and disjoint between China and Cuba and their
historical interpretation.
The second artist featured in this exhibition with amazing art pieces inspired by his childhood
memories and materials is, Mark Bradford. Bradford was born in Southern California in what is
considered the hood of California. Bradford has received both Bachelor and Master in Fine Arts from

One of the most applicable theories used in the nursing profession involves Pavalko s eight
dimensions. These are applicable to broad and focused discussion of the nursing profession. Pavalko s
statement greatly defines the major areas of the nursing profession (Zerwekh, Garneau, 2013).
Furthermore, it also says something about the specialties that are present in the current practice of
nursing. Pavalko s eight dimensions can be used by nursing students to further explore the limitless
possibilities that the nursing profession can offer. Educators can also broaden existing knowledge in
order to fit the needs of today s students. In actuality, Pavalko s eight dimensions hits every corner of
the nursing profession however, one of Pavalko s eight dimensions is greatly applicable to the nursing
profession. It states that a profession has a training or educational period. This greatly applies to
nursing; however, being a health professional together with having trends of evidence based practice,
it puts nurses as lifelong learners (Zerwekh, Garneau, 2013). . A true nurse must possess the
knowledge necessary to provide adequate care. This is especially true in handling patients with
complex cases. One must be quick in thinking and can adapt to most situations. Although academic
prowess shown by a student is not a priority, the extrinsic factor for the love of the humanities is the

where we stand can come in the way. In the story The Shining Houses we experience lots of judgment
and differences between people that relate to their popularity and social status. The more the world

How Did Edmund Norgay Change The World
Various mountaineers state that when everything feels like an uphill struggle, just think of the view at

The artist used two dimensional to three dimensional elements. For this piece the materials are; wood

wood. He made the wood s contours looks like were perfectly cut, but actually they were painted.

Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research
In the Declaration on the Production and the Scientific and Therapeutic Use of Human Embryonic
Stem Cells, the Pontifical Academy for Life presents the field of stem cell research with a statement
regarding the official Roman Catholic position on the moral aspects of acquiring and using human
embryonic stem cells. They have declared that it is not morally legitimate to produce or use human
embryos as a source of stem cells, nor is it acceptable to use stem cells from cell lines already
established. Thus, bringing up the conflicting topic concerned with the point in time in which a human
embryo becomes more than a simple mass of cells, but a human individual with a well defined
identity. Gerard Magil and William B. Neaves, in their paper Ontological and Ethical Implications of
Direct Nuclear Reprogramming has conflicted the Academy s position on stem cell research with an
alternative understanding of adult stem cells. In what follows, I will argue that the Academy does not
adequately defend the Church s standpoint on stem cell research. However, I will also suggest that
even if the Church s position were accepted, this would not provide an adequate solution to the ethical
question revolving around stem cell research.
In order to rightly investigate the position defined in the Declaration on the Production and the
Scientific and Therapeutic Use of Human Embryonic Stem Cells a summary must first be presented.

  • 2. The Lesson And Orientation In The Lesson, By Toni Cade... Literary Analysis of the Lesson Orientation In The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara, the underlying theme is education, where the provision of learning and understanding occurs outside the typical classroom environment. It is important to note that the most striking thingabout Ms. Moore is her superlative academic achievement, making her stand out from other women in the community. The lady is so supportive of education that she offers to give the children a practical lesson, contrary to their specifications. Summer season is known for holidays, which is not the case for the group of children dragged into the central business district (Bambara 1). It is this condition that allows her to educate the children and improve their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The protagonist was so motivated to teach the children such that she accompanied the students even when school was out of session. Sylvia is the antagonist in this story, owing to the way in which the youngster differentiated her values from Ms. Moore s. Sylvia used her interaction skills to sway the group s attention away from the teacher, particularly at the endof the story when she slipped out of the group in search of chocolate (Bambara 6). To add salt to injury, Sylvia wasted no time in returning the lion s share of Ms. Moore s money, seeing the opportunity to buy chocolates and other confectionary. The exposition of the story lies in the rising wave of inequality, especially among African American communities. The rising action in the story is when the children get busy ogling at the expensive toys on display, which builds the tension associated with poverty. Alternatively, the story s climax is when thestudents realize the moral of the lesson, which is economic inequality within urbanareas. The falling action occurs when Sylvia and Sugar tear away from the group in search of the ill gained confectionary. The denouement of the story is when the children realize the value of money and its impact on society. Such a scene is present when the children began thinking of different ways the exorbitant prices could change their lives, such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cochlear Implants Research Paper Cochlear implants are biomedical devices that help individuals with severe hearing impairments with auditory sensation. In order to process sound cochlear implants include external and internal components. A microphone, which is part of the external component gathers sound (Petersona, Pisonia, Miyamoto, 2010). These sound waves from the environment are transferred into electrical signals (Petersen, Gjedde, Wallentin, Vuust, 2013). The electrical signals are then organized through a series of filters. After this step is completed, the signals are conveyed across the skin to a receiver within the internal components. In the implanted device, further conversion occurs and the signals are delivered to an array of electrodes within the cochlea. Each signal is directed to a specific electrode, this method utilizes tonotopic representation and coding of frequency. Lastly, the electrodes stimulate the auditory nerve (Petersona et al., 2010). These are the main processes involved in the application of cochlear implants. This paper explores some of the current research related to the application of cochlear implants including: language abilities, plasticity and areas for further research. In the last couple of decades vast amounts of research has been completed related to cochlear implants and language or communication skills; a literature review was completed by Petersona et al., which included information on the anticipated results of implantation and ... • 4. Gender Labeling Research Paper Throughout history, some babies have always been born with ambiguous genitalia, partially formed sex organs, micro organs, or organs of both sexes. This was either due to deviations in the anatomical development of the fetus and because of exposure during fetal gestation to hormones and chemicals. To describe such people, sexologists have gradually begun to use the more neutral term intersex children or children with developmental sex disorders. However, various ethical issues come in light as these children grow into adults or when physicians assign a gender to babies following the traditional view of gender labeling means a happy adjustment in school, in the family, and in society. Intersex and transsexual labeling especially create problems in sports where athletes must compete with as female or male. Transgender differs from intersex such that transgender people feel they live in a body of the wrong gender hence seeking hormone therapy while intersex have abnormal sex organs. Both kinds of people want the right to choose their gender and may seek hormones and surgery to do so. One such example is an ophthalmologist Richard Raskind who underwent surgery to become Rene Richards and competed on the professional women s tennis circuit creating a huge controversy. Another example is of South African runner Caster Semenya, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another researcher, Milton Diamond, believed that biology and hormones made gender identity, not childhood socialization, and hence, became a life long skeptic of John Money s views on the social construction of gender. Diamond, with other researchers, explained that a fetus s over exposure to androgens from a mother s unknown tumor will give the child a masculine or androgynous experience. so he says that although biology may be destiny, it a biology that s part genes and part what happens to the fetus in ... The Actions Of Boston Tea Party Alexus Howard Steven McCall U.S. History 2111 3 November 2015 The Actions That Led to Boston Tea Party: 1773 On December 16, 1773, American Patriots disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians boarded the ships of the East Indian Company docked in the Boston Harbor, and poured all the tea that was on the three ships into the ocean. They emptied three hundred forty two chests of tea which was valued at more than 10,000 pounds. This event became known as the Boston Tea Party. It was a reaction to the Tea Act of 1773. The Tea Party was the key event that started the Revolutionary War. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Tea Act of 1773 was imposed by the British government, its main purpose was not to raise the income from the colonies but to bail out the struggling East India Company, which was a key factor in the British government. The British government granted the company a exclusive possession on the incoming and sale of tea in the colonies. The colonists had never accepted the authority of the duty on tea, and the Tea Act rekindled their opposition to it. This act was also passed because there was plenty of tea left to rot in a warehouse, so with an attempt to save the troubled enterprise the British Parliament passed the Tea Act. The act granted the company the right to ship the tea directly to the colonies and to commission agents, which had the right to sell tea in the different colonies. Later, the Tea Act effectively lowered the price of the East India Company s tea in colonies, since they did not longer have to pay an additional tax in England. The Boston Tea Party happened on the 16th of December in 1773. This was a pre revolutionary incident that was a direct protest by colonists in Boston against the Tea Tax that was imposed by the British government. Mudaraba is a kind of partnership which one party provides money to a commercial enterprise, and the funds are managed by a third party based on Mudaraba investment management agreement. • 8. The Controversial Topic of Genetic Testing Genetic testing has become a highly controversial issue among both the general population and the scientific community. It is a process that exposes a person s entire genome sequence, allowing it to be read and evaluated to identify potential risks for genetic diseases or diseases that could be passed onto offspring (Holt Productions, 2012). With thousands of genetic tests already being used, and more being established, it seems logical to put this growing technology to use. Some agree that it is a person s right to know and understand his or her genetic makeup. However, others argue that, despite the benefits of genetic testing, caution should be used to carefully inspect the risks associated with this new technology. Relatively simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Embryonic screening allows for the elimination of inherited diseases before birth or a treatment plan before birth. In breast cancer patients, genetic testing allows the physician to know if chemotherapy is necessary, which would expand treatment options. Genetic testing could eliminate years of experimental testing and medication use used to diagnose a new disease. Overall, genetic testing is in alignment with the core medical philosophy that early prevention leads to early treatment, which leads to an overall better outcome for the patient. The opposing side argues, however, that society is not ready for this technology. People may not be capable of handling the emotional or psychological stress associated with genetic testing. Results may vary between genetic testing companies and many variables, such as sampling errors, could lead to a false positive or false negative test. Further, it is possible that some people may interpret the seriousness or implications of their results incorrectly. This could result in people making unnecessary, and even dangerous, lifestyle changes. For example, if a person is told that he or she has a 60% of being diagnosed with breast cancer, that person may undergo preventative surgery to avoid the disease; however, such surgery may have been unnecessary, as the person may never have developed the disease. Additionally, as the popularity of genetic testing increases, some fear that a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar. A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market outcomes. Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price) and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax . Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. The company s revenue also decreased significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of output decreased. However, the government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget. Indirect tax on energy drinks ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Systems For Humans Can Not Function Without Clean Water Many systems for humans would not function without clean water, such as: water supply, sanitation, agriculture, and health, which are dependent on fresh water supply. We also often get our drinking water from lakes and rivers and with healthier water systems come a healthier food chain. This is because all animals and plants depend upon the water on the earth. There is a connection between the changes in fish habitations and the composition of species in these habitats (Komatsu, Fukushima, and Harasawa, 2007), and healthy water systems. Increased temperature due to global warming leads to the concentration increase of dissolved substances other than oxygen and an influx of species into the warmer environment (Delpla, Jung, Baures, Clement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main source of dissolved organic carbon and other organic matter for surface water is soil leaching (Delpla et al., 2009). The rate of leaching increases with the amount of rainfall, high temperatures, and the removal of protective vegetation. Increased rainfall and drought have affected runoff distributions and therefore is a major influence on dissolved organic carbon levels because dry wet cycles have shown increased organic carbon following rewetting (Evans, Monteith, and Cooper, 2005)(Kundzewicz, Mata, Arnell, Döll, Jimenez, Miller, Oki, Şen, Shiklomanov, 2008). The increase in dissolved organic carbon in surface water shows indications of more acidity as biodegraded organic materials in natural substances are inherently acidifying agents (Erlandsson et al. 2011). Evidence collected indicates that the organic acidity is also affected by land use (Guo and Gifford 2002) and climate changes (Worrall et al. 2004). However, dissolved organic carbon supports growth of microorganism and plays an important role in the global carbon cycle. It is an indicator of organic material amounts in water, as well as supporting land processes, within soils and wetlands, of organic matter. Although there are benefits of dissolved organic carbon in soils and wetlands, the potential when an abundance is leached into surface water to interfere with health precautions, other organic and non organic material, and microorganisms has caused these rising levels to ... It is a personal realization that you too are mortal. It is the recognition that one s life is changed forever. The shiny image of a once bright world full of promise dulls. Unfortunately, every individual will experience the death of a loved one at least once in their life. No words can soothe the agony of losing a loved one. After spending a copious amount of time in and out of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with my family over the course of a month, I developed an interest in its operation. Neonatologists specialize in the study of newborns, ill infants, and especially premature babies. For the majority of the time, neonatologists deal with premature infants. They are trained to know all the possibilities and outcomes of each disease in existence. Comparing Emily Bronte s And Frankenstein What does it mean when one describes a noble beast , and to what extent must a damaged character wreak havoc for their actions to be deemed monstrous? How do we define a monster? These questions are posed to readers of Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, two novels tied by threads of revenge and discrimination. Both stories are about created monsters and how they have been wronged by those around them. Those monsters proceed to seek vengeance on the people who have harmed them. Several parallels can be drawn between Heathcliff and Frankenstein s monster, although the circumstances and results of their warping differ, and these comparisons help one determine whether their actions are justified or are impossible to redeem. Both characters have been victims of abuse that they did not deserve. Frankenstein created a grotesque creature who was still biologically human. • 18. Transcendentalism In Henry David Thoreau The Transcendentalism in Henry David Thoreau Henry David Thoreau once said, It s not what you look at that matters, it s what you see. Transcendentalists were often less concerned with what they saw in front of them, and more concerned on what it meant. Transcendentalism is certainly about forgetting the literal meaning of things and taking into account the divinity of them. Thoreau s impression of this genre shows up regularly in his works. Henry David Thoreau s independence and time with Emerson strengthened his as a transcendentalist as shown in Walden and A Winter s Walk. Henry David Thoreau was a major figure in the transcendentalist movement. He was born in Concord, Massachusetts on July 12, 1817 ( Henry David Thoreau biography.co). Richard J. Schneider s article, Thoreau s Life reveals that he went to public school in Concord, then attended Concord Academy. Thoreau was somewhat different than other children in Concord. As a child he rarely followed the rules and was independent and strong willed (Brozo, et al. 377). Being independent as a child shows up very clearly in Thoreau s adult life. Later Schneider states that Thoreau went to Harvard College and graduated in the top of his class. However, he had to graduate early because he was very ill and not financially able to continue. Thoreau worked at many places throughout the years. He taught at a school, worked at his family s pencil factory, and opened a school with his brother (Schneider). He even worked as a land surveyor (Witherell and Dubrulle). Thoreau was friends with a great transcendentalist writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Thoreau spent two years living at a place called Walden Pond, which was property of Emerson ( Henry David Thoreau biography.com). As stated in the biography, Henry David Thoreau, He experimented with working as little as possible rather than engage in the pattern of six days on with one day off. This may seem like a lazy way of living, but to Thoreau it was something more. He felt that this new approach helped him avoid the misery he saw around him ( Henry David ). The hardship that Thoreau was feeling from the world was the public. The public admired technology and did not appreciate nature like he did. Henry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These goals are: 1) Build and edify the church, 2) Meeting needs, and 3) Spread the Gospel. The task of utmost importance is that of building the church, a community of believers. It is through evangelizing that men come to hear, know, and accept the redemptive plan of God through Jesus Christ. This is done by preaching and teaching this message when opportunity arises. It is also done by living out your faith in the day to day of mission life. We are to make the book of Acts our living example in growing and edifying a body of believers (Warren 26 31) (Hodges 61 62) Secondly, we are to meet the basic needs of that community and of those around us. These needs may be physical, financial, or spiritual. Most often these needs will be physical at first and the later that opens the door to the spiritual need. The Gospel of Christ is designed to meet all the needs of man. It provides salvation for the soul and requires helping/loving those who are poor or destitute. Growth Theories Of Growth And Growth Models Growth Theories Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed; i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K). The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock, (K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%) and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006). Considering the importance of the Middle East to Asia will be the focus of this paper, in which the writer agreed with the assumption. Moreover, there will be reasons why the Middle East is still more important than Asia, along with comparison for each. And by the end of this essay, with backing from the main part, the conclusion will be able to show the supports for the mentioned opinion. To begin, we will start with the historical background of the US with the Middle East and Asia (mostly the US and the Middle East), in order to set a fundamental understanding. American government, for the whole historical period was likely to pursue interests beyond her land s border. There is an opinion that presidents since Harry Truman have recognized that there were four basic interests in the Middle East the Security of Israel, access to oil, cooperation with the Soviet Union (since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the interests doesn t exist anymore. Instead is the relation with Russia), and the upholding of certain principles. (Tillman, 1982, p. 62) The United States, nowadays has two main interests: one is the presence of oil and the other is the claim to religious origins. Oil seems to be the ... • 26. 5th Paper Final Draft Julian Malile Professor Tommasi Expository Writing 2 December 2014 Writings Involvement with Self and Society The self is expressed in a multitude of ways ranging from speeches to television as well as writing. Not only that but as human beings it is instinctual to make an observation and write it down, but we tend to add our own personal view as to what we believe, or interpret something entirely else from the observation. By reading Karen Ho s Biographies of Hegemony and Jean Twenge s An Army of One: Me essays as well as Robert Thurman s Wisdom it is evident that each employed a distinctive argument and method to explain their views on what they wrote but what each of them shared in common was how their writing allowed their ... By Ho showing the mindset behind these people to the public she helped bring society to the realization that the investment bankers although obtained knowledge at these elite institutions they, investment bankers, are not very different from the rest of society. The students, investment bankers as well as the rest of society are placed on a level playing field and in turn Ho brings them all together as well as her self . In addition to revealing to people what the true self of others was, Jean Twenge explains in An Army of One: Me that the self is changing with generation after another specifically in the twentieth century. Twenge argues that over the second half of the twentieth century, American s have become more about individual celebration rather than the being worried about other. • 27. Iago Speech In Othello Iago Speech Liam Gist Is it such a crime to be an honest and good man? Imagine if you believed the wife of your closest friend was cheating on him? Would you just let him go about his life whilst his wife was in bed with another man? Well I ll tell you now, if that s what you would do, you re no friend. You might as well be the man she was cheating with. What if your friend was going to commit suicide would you not do everything you could to stop him? How about if your friend lost his job and you knew how he could get it back, would you not help him? I m brought before the senate today, charged with doing nothing but retaining as my title as Honest Iago and staying loyal to my comrades. So I ask you, do you really believe I should be punished for being an honest man who simply cares for his friends when they are in need? Whilst in Venice, I learned that my dear friend Roderigo had fallen for Desdemona. When he discovered she had married our noble General, Othello, he was filled with grief and was clearly distraught after Desdemona confirmed she had married Othello. After the noble men had finished their the meeting over the war in cypress, Rodrigo approached me. I could sense something wasn t right, the tone of his voice, the expression upon his face, it was terrifying! Under pressure, I kept my thoughts together and remained calm. Roderigo asked me what he should do. Confused, I told him to go home and rest, for the trip to Cypress would be long and tiring. However in an emotional outburst, he told me that he was going to go drown himself (1:3:301), I was taken by surprise, I acted quickly, attempting to dispel any thought in his mind about this ridiculous idea. After a long period of discussion, I persuaded him that he was being irrational and should go home and prepare for the trip to Cypress instead. I had also replaced the idea of him drowning himself with the hope of winning Desdemona s heart by putting money (1:3:330) towards his endeavours. If I were such an evil person as these charges suggest I am, why would I support him in his time of need. What else would I get out of this other than knowing I saved my dear friends life. Information in Business Information in Business Darrin L Palmer University of Phoenix CIS/207 Erickson In business word wide the use of information technology systems is what keeps a business functioning properly. Every business holds a substantial amount of information that they must learn to sort, utilize and store efficiently. Everything a business does in their day to day operations requires the use of both information and technology. Payments, employee information, records, client information, all of this must be processed, stored, organized and analyzed for later use in the business. The Decameron was named after one of Songsong s favorite books written by Giovanni Boccaccio in the mid 14th century that consisted of a collection of 100 stories told by 10 different characters over 10 days. The significances of this stories are that they all surround the similar theme. Songsong used Boccaccio s concept and applied to his work by interpreting an outsourced public photo of the 2004 National People s Congress. Songsong enlarged the NPC 2004 photo and cut it into 10 sections and painted each section individually. When placed together the original photo could be seen at a larger scale. Songsong s second piece is Cuban Sugar which is a representation of an image of when China went through a domestic sugar cane production. Its titled the Cuban Sugar as a representation of this event reflecting the political conflict of interest through fractured independent sections of the full piece of work. Completing Songsong s painting are individual sections within the painting with different texture and color, suggesting a layered and disjoint between China and Cuba and their historical interpretation. These are applicable to broad and focused discussion of the nursing profession. Pavalko s statement greatly defines the major areas of the nursing profession (Zerwekh, Garneau, 2013). We all have differences but we are all human and all need to live, although sometimes the importance of where we stand can come in the way. In the story The Shining Houses we experience lots of judgment and differences between people that relate to their popularity and social status. The more the world grows, the more we see the priority of having a high social status in our societies. Alice Munro describes to us a particular situation that can be related to our day to day lives. These statements are completely opposite for the more young and rich group of people that take part of those of a high social status. In our society and the society in the story the perspective shown is that it s what s on the outside that matters most. The looks and the money are number one and one simple person who does not follow that may be seen with lots of judgement. Things need to be new and not run down like Mrs. Fullerton s house and yard. And, even if I were not to catch anything at all, I would still spend the day in some of the most serene environments that I had ever seen. My passion to obtain a Master s degree and eventually a doctorate arises from my love of the outdoors and my desire to contribute meaningfully to protecting the environment for the enjoyment of future generations. Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research In the Declaration on the Production and the Scientific and Therapeutic Use of Human Embryonic Stem Cells, the Pontifical Academy for Life presents the field of stem cell research with a statement regarding the official Roman Catholic position on the moral aspects of acquiring and using human embryonic stem cells. They have declared that it is not morally legitimate to produce or use human embryos as a source of stem cells, nor is it acceptable to use stem cells from cell lines already established. Thus, bringing up the conflicting topic concerned with the point in time in which a human embryo becomes more than a simple mass of cells, but a human individual with a well defined identity. Gerard Magil and William B. Neaves, in their paper Ontological and Ethical Implications of Direct Nuclear Reprogramming has conflicted the Academy s position on stem cell research with an alternative understanding of adult stem cells. In what follows, I will argue that the Academy does not adequately defend the Church s standpoint on stem cell research. However, I will also suggest that even if the Church s position were accepted, this would not provide an adequate solution to the ethical question revolving around stem cell research. In order to rightly investigate the position defined in the Declaration on the Production and the Scientific and Therapeutic Use of Human Embryonic Stem Cells a summary must first be presented.
