The Fence Between Bonnie And Amanda s Property
The issues generated in consideration of the contested property line between Bonnie and Amanda s
property include: i) Conventional boundaries: Does the fence between Bonnie and Amanda s house
constitute a conventional boundary? ii) Improvements by Mistake of Title: Whether the
improvements made by Bonnie constitute an entitlement to the land.
i)Conventional Boundaries
In circumstances where the true location of a boundary is unascertainable, the conventional line
doctrine provides abutting property owners the ability to create one. After a conventional boundary
has been legitimately established, Robertson v. Alberta provides that the property owners maintain
the security to rely on the boundary to lawfully develop the land under the ... Show more content on

In fact, the previous Kardashian owners assumed that the fence was an accurate indication of the
property line, which they thought was located directly between the houses and therefore never
attempted to ascertain the actual location of the boundary. If the uncertainty of the boundary was
never acknowledged, the principles found in Bea v. Robinson finds that a conventional boundary
could not be existing because was no attempt to ascertain the actual boundary. Bea v. Robinson
states that this attempt is a mandatory element in the foundation of a conventional boundary. Even
in the presence of strong evidence that the boundary was agreed upon and treated as a boundary, it
seems likely that the test for conventional boundaries must fail in consideration of the fact that the
surveyor Amanda hired was able to ascertain the true boundaries which were not consistent with
that of the fence. If the doctrine of conventional lines fails, the foundational principle (lecture) of
estoppel provides no security for Bonnie in the reliance on the boundary to build. ii) Improvements
by Mistake of Title
Under the conditions that a person genuinely believes land is their own and is mistaken, statue law
provides an equitable remedy when individuals have invested in lasting improvements to the land.

Moon Landings Real
Moon Landings Essay In 1969, NASA launched a spaceship that was destined to go to the moon.
Apollo 11 went to the moon with Neil Armstrong and other astronauts. When Apollo 11 came back
from the moon, with rocks and videos, people still continue to believe that the landings were faked.
Today in 2015, those people continue to believe that the landings were faked. Now why is that?
Plenty of evidence that the moonlandings were real. What do i believe? My opinion is that the
moon landings were real. I believe this because there are a colossal amount of evidence that it
was not faked. In my opinion, there is a chance slim to none that they were fake. But that s not all.
I have my own evidence i want to share. One reason i believe... Show more content on

They saw marks on the moon where the lunar module had been. It s not only the U.S that believe
the landings were real, Japan saw that they did in fact make it to the moon and landed safely.
There are tracks to prove that they did in fact go to the moon and put rocketships on the surface of
the moon.
400,000 people working at NASA to develop the technology for the first manned mission to go

into space? Also, to build the rocketship it took about 6 billion dollars. I don t believe NASA or
the U.S would spend that much money just for the rocket to not even go anywhere. And a lot of
people would have lot to be able to keep a huge secret for a very long time.
In 1969, NASA launched a spaceship that was destined to go to the moon. If the moon landings
were faked why would the U.S spend that much money for nothing. And if the letter C on the

there was a Letter C on it they would redo the scene and fix the

Film Analysis Of Mr Burns
Mr. Burns, a Post Electric Play addresses the importance of storytelling and common memory as
unifying tools. From fireside tales to grand operas, stories symbolize the preservation and
progression of society. Sharing a cultural history establishes bonds that, in a post apocalyptic
situation, could be the difference between life and death. In translating the narrative of this
production into a film, it is imperative to retain these major themes. Manipulating mise en scene
through setting, lighting, and costuming can effectively direct the audiences attention in such a way
as to communicate the consolidating impact of entertainment in society. The first aspect of setting
to be considered is the choice between making use of existing locales as opposed to constructing
settings of one s one, digitally or manually. In Act I, the setting is predominantly tame and subdued.
As the playprogresses, however, the sets become exponentially more complicated. Thus, the
exposition of the film adaptation should be set in an existing forest, particularly one that is
expansive and contains towering trees. A location such as this, alongside the proper manipulation
of other variables, would portray the emptiness of the world after experiencing a rapid decrease in
population density. Additionally, the towering trees and the frightened, lonely actors beneath would
communicate the threat of nature asserting its dominance over humankind. As the film changes
settings, they should becoming progressively more elaborate and manufactured in appearance.
The stage on which the second act takes place should be filmed in some sort of urban wasteland,
such as a desolate parking lot or an empty business office. The found nature of the location
solidifies the main characters as a variety of scavengers, and enables the inclusion of low level
engineering employed in the play. The props in use should appear as though they were reclaimed
from the wreckage, and be slightly exaggerated in color. Lastly, the final act should take place on a
stage that is larger than life alongside fantastical contraptions and outrageous colors. This cements
not just the ability of the survivors to continue surviving, but also reveals sophistication and the

The chemicals in the cannabis, or marijuana plant can cause desired psychological and physical
effects on the human body. However, for many years there has been an ongoing debate about the
legality of the drug. In the last few years specifically, the issue has become very popular and has
received a lot of attention from the media. Citizens, doctors, and politicians have many different
views and opinions on whether the drug is dangerous or harmless. Marijuana comes from a natural
plant and causes a euphoric high sensation when consumed. Doctors have proven that the
psychological and physical effects of cannabisdo not pose any substantially harmful threats to the

Containing between 3% and 22% THC, this is the most widely consumed form. All other
preparation of the plant are derived from this base form. Most cannabis plants have either male or
female flowers, while some plants have both. Male flowers are more yellow in color and grow in
the form of elongated clusters along leaves. Female flowers grow in more spike shaped clusters
and remain dark green in color for about a month after blossoming, when the seed ripens (Bonsor).
Smoking is the most common way of consuming marijuana. The dried plant is lit on fire in a
contained method so that the smoke can be inhaled. Another method of consumption is to extract
the oil from the plant and use it to prepare foods, typically baked goods. When ingesting the oil, a
significant amount of THC enters the bloodstream through the stomach and travels to the brain,
where it has a similar effect to smoking it. In other parts of the world, especially in Asia and the
Middle East, cannabis is used to make teas, butters, or pastes that are consumed in various ways
(Goode).
The THC chemical (tetrahydrocannibinol) is the main active ingredient in marijuana that causes its
psychological and physical effects on the body. It mainly affects the communications system in the
brain and body. Scientists have called this system the endocannibinol system (or EC system). The
THC enters the brain and attaches to the cannabinoid receptors. The natural

The Federalist No. 10 Summary
The Federalist No.10 was written by James Madison. The main purpose of this paper was to
make people see that there was a different kind of factions. This essay talks about how
Republican government is taken in consideration by the constitution .Having a republic and
looking at democracy is important in many ways. It all depends on how large a republic is and
what the results it can have. In the first paragraph, it talks about how a well constructed union
needs to be able to control the violence of a faction. There are problems in factions ,for example
the governments are too unstable, public goods are disregard in the conflict of rival parties,
measures are too often decided not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor
parties, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority . Majority rule overruns
minorities or the rights of minorities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Madison thinks that the majorities are going to take over and go over the rights of others and he
says that participatory democracy is not good. For Madison, there were only two ways to
control a faction, this was by removing the cause and controlling the effect of a faction. When
Madison says that liberty is to faction as the air is to fire , it means that air can feed the fire and
liberty cannot be controlled by anyway with factions is the same because it cannot be controlled.
Federalist papers are more focus on how it is going to control the effects of the factions. A way to
control an effect of a faction was with a

Dog Separation Anxiety
Introduction The dog is man s best friend , but what if you can t leave your dog at home alone,
not even for 10 minutes. A lot of people have to cope with this problem because their dog is
suffering from separation anxiety. In 1,644 dogs that were diagnosed with behavioral problems
over 14,3% had separation anxiety1.
In animal behavioral practices in North America 20 40% of the dogs are diagnosed with
separation anxiety2. And in the United Kingdom, at least 20% of dogs are believed to have
separation anxiety , although up to 50% of dogs in the population may display clinical signs at
some time.3,4 This is one of the most seen reasons for owners to surrender their dogs to a shelter.
Plausible cause for so many dogs to have separation anxiety are multiple and could be a
combination of factors. These causes include pathologic over attachment to the owner, negative
early experiences such as too early separation from their dam, a traumatic experience while being
alone, and a change in family circumstances. Dogs may also have a genetic predisposition to
develop the condition, because they have been bred to be socially dependent, devoted, and
infantile. 5 These causes don t only lead to separation anxiety, there are a lot of different behavioral
problems that dogs can have and sometimes allthough a dog goes true a traumatic experience it

How Did Blasphemy Trials Affect The Lives Of Indigenous...
The Spanish Inquisition was originally an institution developed in Spain to conduct trials by the
Catholic Monarchs. The Inquisition s trial courts focused on ensuring that the Catholic Doctrine
was enforced. After the conquering and colonization of indigenous groups within the New World
the colony of New Spainwas formed. The Spanish Crown sought to use the Inquisitionto prosecute
those guilty of heresy or blasphemy, which is the act of denouncing God or demeaning religious
ideas. Comparing and analyzing Spanish Inquisition blasphemy trial documents demonstrate the
recorded history and process by which these trials started and ended. Which presents us with the
question, how did blasphemy trials effect the personal lives of indigenous groups within New Spain?
To investigate the history and impact of the Spanish Inquisition focus on the process and
punishment of blasphemy trials will improve an understanding of the effect of these institutions.
The Catholic Monarchs King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella justified the establishment of the
Inquisition in Spain and The New World by constructing it as a form of religious purification. The
history of the Tribunal del Santo Oficio de la InquisiciГіn, or as it is more commonly known the
Spanish Inquisition began during the 15th century and did not end until the early 19th. The
Episcopal Inquisition was established in 1536 and was the first religious court. Fray Juan de

The Idea Of Jesus Dying For Sin
Is the idea of Jesus dying for sin barbaric or outmoded ? (Choose one.) Why or why not? I
disagree with the idea of Jesus dying for sin as being an outmoded concept. Throughout history,
we see over and over again of people giving up everything, including their lives, for the greater
good. A person dying for what they believe in is not outdated, but the actual act of dying in such a
horrific way, however, is barbaric in its nature. The entire crucifixion is one of many disgusting acts
that humanity has done to each other. I m taking the phrase outmoded to mean outdated and no

atrocious in its very nature. According to the Bible,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. 2 This sounds eerily like the type of
execution that Jesus endured. For him, there was no question of enduring that kind of pain in
order to save the people. Despite the question of Jesus truly being the Messiah, he fully believed
that he was sent to bring about the Kingdom of God and fulfill the covenant. Historically, the
time period that Jesus was sentence to a crucifixion was reserved for the serious criminals. Rick
Renner analyzed the facts surrounding the death of Jesus Christ. He stated Crucifixion was
indisputably one of the cruelest and most barbaric forms of punishment in the ancient world.
Flavius Josephus, the Jewish historian, described crucifixion as the most wretched of deaths. It
was viewed with such horror that in one of Seneca s letters to Lucilius, Seneca wrote that suicide
was preferable to crucifixion. Getting into some of the gory details, Jesus literally had a five
inch iron nail through each wrist into the wood of the crossbeam. Then he was hoisted up with a
rope that dropped into a groove creating even more pain in the hands and wrists. The weight of
his body caused his arms to pop out of their sockets. Then the feet were nailed down as well.
Slowly, all of his joints would dislocate. When he was finally too exhausted and could no longer

Analyzing the Success of Quentin Tarantino s Films
Quentin Tarantino s films have helped to redefine cinema. His postmodern approach, creative
writing, and extensive knowledge of films and music have helped Tarantino to develop a unique
style that has allowed him to stand out among his peers. In Pulp Fiction (1994), Tarantino
establishes several directorial trademarks that would come to be used in his later works and can
clearly be seen throughout the film. Furthermore, Tarantino s use of mise en scene helps to
strengthen and establish mood and setting. Tarantino not only directed Pulp Fiction(1994), but he
also co wrote the screenplay and played a role within the film. During the course of a film s
production, a director is charged with guiding the actors in performance, determines the staging
of the action, supervises all aspects of shooting, and works with the producer, writer, and
designer before production and with the film and sound editors after production to ensure
consistency and excellence of the movie as well as the best possible use of personnel, materials,
and resources provided by the producer (Mast Kawin, 2003, p. 681). Tarantino s hands on
approach in making his films ensure that he is involved in many, if not all, aspects of the
production of his films. There are also many others that contribute to the creation and production
of a film including an art director and production designer. An art director can be defined as a
person who designs a movie s sets and dГѓ cor (Mast Kawin, 2003, p. 678).

For centuries, the most enjoyable activity for children to partake in is playing outside. Playing
outside develops fundamental social skills, engages all five senses, stimulates creativity and

become increasingly competitive. Now, every child is encouraged to sign up for competitive
sports teams as soon as they start going to school. Parents encourage these teams now instead of
sending their child into the backyard to explore on their own. In the aspect of staying healthy, this

fraudulently while posing as a bank, agent or any other financial institution. In many countries and
especially the United States, bank fraud is a criminal offense even though experts refer to it as a
white collar crime due to the manner in which it is carried out. The paper below will look at the
vulnerabilities that face the banking industry while using the example of Stanford Financial Group
Company to show how the banking fraudcan be committed. Moreover, the paper will also look at

Similarities And Differences Between Heart Of Darkness And...
The movie Apocalypse Now is inspired by Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness. Due to this,
the majority of the film is based upon the book, in terms of plot, theme, characters, and setting. The
differences between the two works arise in the modern interpretation taken by Apocalypse Now, and
the presentation of Heart of Darknessthemes through current events. Both Apocalypse Now(AN)
and Heart of Darkness (HOD) take place within four main settings, with the same overall plot. In
HOD, these settings are Brussels, the Central Station, the steamboat on the river, and Kurtz s
compound. In AN, the initial settings are instead a meeting room with officers and a military base,
before becoming a steamboat on the river, and Kurtz s compound. The initial settings both serve the
same role: to present the main characterwith their job, and to give them the means and
transportation to complete it. Both works have the jungle as the overall and main setting. Though
set in Vietnam and the Congo respectively, both jungles are presented as dark and savage the
entryway into the unknown. In both cases, the jungle is not initially seen as dangerous it is simply
the environment, a means to an end. In AN, it is not until Chef and Willard journey into the jungle
in search of mangoes that this illusion is disrupted. The men are suddenly attacked by a tiger, and
begin a frantic rush to escape back to the boat. After the experience, several of the men promise to

Skepticism About a Refutation of Skepticism Essay
Skepticism about a Refutation of Skepticism
In The Refutation of Skepticism , Jonathan Vogel establishes an Inference to the Best Explanation
(hereafter, IBE ) as a means to refute skepticism about the external world. In this refutation, Vogel
acknowledges that skepticism about IBE still remains a possibility, but that this kind of skepticism
would be rather outlandish in character and thus could be ignored. This paper shall both establish
and evaluate Vogel s reasoning as to why he confidently dismisses any skepticism pertaining to his
IBE, and furthermore will illuminate some points as to why Vogel may have mischaracterized
potential threats to his method, leaving his refutation of skepticism vulnerable to doubt that is not as

So how is this supposed to serve as a successful refutation of skepticism? To make sense of this, it
should first be understood exactly how IBE qualifies its requirement for simplicity, and also what
Vogel understands both mundane propositions and skeptical arguments to be comprised of. The
assumption that the world works in ways that are simple, implied from the principle of induction, is
construed by Vogel to mean that the better explanation would be the beliefinvolving the fewest
complexities and least number of parts to argue. Vogel is under the impression that skeptical
arguments involve much more complexity in order to make them parallel the ordinary beliefs
they aim to compete with, and cites the example that for ordinary properties such as shape and
location that could be involved in a mundane proposition, the skeptic would have to invoke a
much more elaborate explanation for why we are experiencing pseudo shapes and pseudo
locations. This leaves the skeptical argument at a major disadvantage when assessed by IBE s
requirement for simplicity, allowing for the mundane proposition to be deemed the better
explanation because of its capability to explain things as they are instead of why they appear to be
as they are but really are

Since the Spanish conquest, Spaniards brought different ingredients and recipes to our country.
Pork was brought into Mexico, cows, donkeys, oatmeal, olives, onions, apples, grapes etc. Thanks to
this exchange of various ingredients mexican cuisine changed and people changed their diet. Right
now on modern days, some of the ingredients that were brought, are now being cultivated and
grown in mexico. Not only Spaniards changed mexican cuisine, but also more countries like Arab
since they were the inspiration for one of the most famous dishes in Mexico tacos de trompo .
Mexico s clothing is another example. When the Spanish arrived, one of the first thing they did
was to put clothes in men and force them to wear pants and a shirt. Aldo silks and wools were
starting to get very popular. One of the most emblematic women dress is the china poblana

Why People Wear Seatbelts
Deciding what to compose my essay of was no easy task. As a sixteen year old girl, many things
today anger or irritate me. I have a different outlook on life than most people, therefore, things that
might not bother the average teen girl infuriate me. After reflecting on the subject for a long time,
I finally came to the conclusion that nothing bothers me more than when people don t wear seat
belts whenever they operate or ride in a vehicle. Maybe it s perhaps because I have seen many
wonderful people pass away simply because they couldn t click their seat beltor maybe it s because
wearing a seat belt is logical, but some people still don t seem to understand. In today s modern

half of the deaths, the person was no not wearing any type or restraint or seatbelt. Meaning
33,000 people died and another 2.2 million were injured. This has a consequence and as a
teenager myself, it makes me sad to think that kids, just like me, had their life cut short. Many of
them could ve went to college, pursue a career, become the world s future doctors, businessmen,
and leaders. Most people don t know what they re risking when they don t buckle up. In addition to

Lactase Intolerance
Only one third of the human population is capable of digesting lactose, which is the sugar found
in milk. This is most likely because only certain societies amongst the globe domesticated cows
for a food and income source around ten thousand years ago. People who had ancestors that were
apart of these communities are more likely to be lactasepersistent than those who do not.
Communities such as these were often seen in places such as Europe and Africa, which can likely
be an explanation for why lactase persistence is often found in those with European and African
ancestry, while those with Asian backgrounds are often lactase intolerant.
Lactose, which is the main sugar in milk, is very difficult for the small intestine to process.
Because of this, cells are required to make an enzyme referred to as lactase, which is only found in
newly born mammals, along with lactase persistent adult mammals. Lactase then breaks lactose into
glucose and galactose, possibly through the process of hydrolysis, and then the two sugars are
entered into the blood stream where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The lactase persistent mutation found in Europe was almost nonexistent in Africa. A different
mutation was found, but it was still seen in the lactase gene and allowed African adults to digest
milk. Both European and African backgrounds evolved independently, with two different mutations
that essentially allowed them to do the same thing. This can be considered a great example of

having 101982 workers across 120 countries along with sales in more than 150 countries, and the

world for mobiles phone makers in terms of unit sales after Samsung, with having world wide

Colorism is the discrimination towards someone with a darker skin tone particularly in the black

African Americans were once slaves that they will never amount to anything when they get older.

People tried to change the way African American females were viewed by writing articles about
how media perceives them to be but it is now 2015 and African American women are still being
portrayed negatively. Yes there has been some improvements but not enough to change the way
society views African American women. Writers of television shows need to create more
movies with strong African Americans in them and stop thinking that white women are always
the way to go. African American women are no longer slaves so why are they still being seen as
women who can t be successful because of where they come from. If more African American
women spoke out about the challenges they ve faced and how they ve overcame those challenges

The And The Doctrine Of Salvation
Soteriology or the Doctrine of Salvation is perhaps the grandest and greatest them in Scripture. If
we look at our world it s easy to see man s condition in sin. Mankind is completely helpless when
the message of salvation is ignored. Our world remains shattered and town by the condition of sin,
but Gods gracious rescue plan through salvation and JesusChrist will redeem us all and provide a
solution to man s problems. () This union with Christ is called the magical exchange in which
Christ assumes our debts and we inherit his wealth so that nothing (Horton pg.271) will be able
to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ro 8:39) (Horton pg. 323 324) Let s
visit the different layers of salvation.
In our textbook, Horton starts with the blessing of Justification. God justifies the wicked.
Justification is a legal act, wherein God deems the sinner righteous on the basis of Christ s
righteousness. Horton tells us on pg. 280, God justifies the wicked not those who have done their
best yet have fallen short, those who might at least be judged acceptable because of the sincerity,
but those who, at the very moment of being pronounced righteous, are in themselves unrighteous.
This means full repentance, which is defined as such, as a change of mind, or a conversion from
sin to God. And the relinquishment of any practice from the conviction that has offended God.
When we accept salvation we are also testifying to God that we are a changed person from

Prenatal Contraception And Prenatal Care Essay
The risk of maternal and infant mortality can be significantly reduced by increasing access to early
and adequate prenatal care (Chapman Durham, 2010). The prenatal period provides an opportunity
to make positive changes in all aspects of a women s health status and health maintenance
behaviors. Early and adequate prenatal care provides the opportunity to identify significant risks to
the pregnant women, and develop interventions to reduce or eliminate potential complications
(Chapman Durham, 2010).
Prenatal care encompasses the health care services provided to a women, from the time the women
becomes pregnant until birth. Prenatal care consists of three major components, risk assessment,
treatment of existing medical conditions and/or risk reduction, and patient education (Chapman
Durham, 2010). Current guidelines established by the American College of Obstetrician and
Gynecologists, regarding prenatal care for a low risk, expected full term pregnancy, include at least
thirteen prenatal visits (ACOG, 2016). Recommendations suggest one visit per month for the first
28 weeks of pregnancy, bi monthly during 29 36 weeks and then every week until birth (ACOG,
2016). Evidence based practices emphasize the importance of receiving both early prenatal care,
beginning in the first trimester as well as adequate prenatal care, encompassing all perinatal
education and guidance (ACOG, 2016).

The Truman Show emphasizes the formation of false relationships, the loss of identity and the
self deception that comes with virtual reality. Descartes ideas of seeking knowledge to understand
the truth is widely evident throughout the film. Similarly to Descartes skepticism regarding
knowledge derived from the senses, Truman begins to doubt what he believes as well. After
seeing his deceased father, he becomes uncertain about his existence and the people around him,
such as when he begins testing the people of Seahaven and concludes that there are loose threads
and slips of the tongue. Unlike Descartes, though, Truman does not question every part of his
reality like physical aspects, but he, nonetheless, believes that nothing in his world is genuine and
that everyone around him is in on it. Truman s idea to abandon his trust in knowledge through the
senses as well as his skepticism for his surroundings is predominantly similar to Descartes methods
to uncovering his own reality. Furthermore, Descartes theory of the evil demon can be a way to
explain how Truman was forced into a false reality. Descartes description of the evil demon is
similar to the character Christof, the director and creator of the Truman Show. Similar to the evil

Comparison Of Love In The Blinding Of Truth, And The...
Shakespeare stated, Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. In all three of the myths I use love
was shown in one way or another. Pandora s Box, The Blinding of Truth, and The Mirror Myth
were similar because when they were in a bad situation, they had love and trust in their hearts, but
there was different kinds of love.
In the myth Pandora s Box a woman named Hermes gave Pandora a box, and told her not to
open it. She opens it out of curiosity when her husband Epimetheus is asleep. A multitude of
brown winged creatures fly out. She accidentally lets out all of the evil in the world. Epimetheus
quickly closes the box, but Pandora hears whispering. She opens the box one more time and finds
hope in the form of a white moth. When hope was let out, the fighting stopped and good was
restored back into the world. All of the myths have something bad happening in the beginning, and
in this case it is Pandora opening the box. Epimetheus and Pandora love each other unconditionally
like husband and wife should. The god relied Pandora to keep the box closed, but she betrayed their

Similarities Between Fight Club And The Yellow Wallpaper
Christian Lane
Mr. Intermaggio
Modern fiction/ Non fiction
10/24/17
Fight Club and The Yellow Wallpaper share a common theme when looking through the gender
lense. In both stories the main character is fighting an internal battle. In fight club, the main
character feels that the expected normal life of a man is boring and he needs something more out
of the ordinary to keep him going through his day to day life. The woman in The Yellow Wallpaper
is dealing with a mental illness that her husband does not understand. The woman feels like she is
not living up to the expectation of a female in that time. Both characters do not meet the standards
of society for their given gender.
Yellow Wallpaper is based on the narrator s nervous condition as she slowly loses sense of reality,
the whole time being completely misunderstood and misdiagnosed by her husband, a doctor who is
unable to understand a woman s mind and who believes the best treatment is to confine her to her
room and rest. The narrator says, If a physician of high standing, and one s own husband, assures
friends and relatives that there is really nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous
depression a slight hysterical tendency what is one to do? (3). Reading The Yellow Wallpaper in
historical context, Jane Thrailkill points out that the nineteenth century medical establishment did
not understand how to deal with women s mental health issues, often misdiagnosing a whole host of
disorders as female hysteria

Araby Coming Of Age Examples
Coming of age stories are an important subset of English literature. Araby and The Ball Poem are
both examples of such pieces. They both depict disappointment or loss in the main characters lives,
as well as the recognition that a replacement is something less than the original. In addition to this,
they show the characters thoughts changing in tone after a moment of significance in the plot.
Araby in particular shows a change in the main character due to it being a short storyrather than a
poem, and having more time to develop the characterization.
In The Ball Poem, the child, the initial subject of the poem, loses his ball and watches it bounce
all the way down into the harbor, beyond recovery. After this, the speaker tells how the boy, senses

Often, the event of growing up is represented as a series of events and experiences, culminating
in the realization that one is a child no longer. However, some forms of literature, due to length
restrictions, are unable to show the process in full, and so will describe the initiating event,
which it is assumed will eventually lead to the subject maturing over time. One example of this
is the poem The Ball Poem, by John Berryman; do to its relatively short length, Berryman told of
the loss of the ball, which was a metaphor for innocence and childhood, and how the child would
now have to learn to deal with the loss and keep going. Araby, in comparison, is a longer text,
though still a short story, and as such is not constrained by the same length restrictions. The main
character s coming of age is, as such, shown over several events, although they are still in a very

Contributions Of Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin was an intelligent man. He didn t exactly succeed in the school institution even
though his family was wealthy, they didn t help Darwin with his courses in college. Dr. Robert
Darwin, Darwin s father sent him to medical school at Edinburg but unfortunately, Darwin
flunked out and was sent to Cambridge University for ministry. At Cambridge his professor, John
Henslow took Darwin scientific studies seriously and introduced him to influential people like
Captain Robert Fitzroy of the royal navy. Darwin embarked on the HMS Beagle as Fitzroy s
naturalist unpaid companion. The caption was given two missions, completed a survey of the
southern coast of South American and to obtain more accurate fixes of longitudes by using new
instruments. Darwin plans were to observe and collect specimens on the voyage. One of Darwin s
most significant discoveries was his discovery of the finches located on the GalГЎpagos Islands.
The finches were a major key to Darwin s theory of natural selection. Traveling in the HMS Beagle
also gave Charles Darwinthe idea of the theory of evolution and natural selection.
Darwin s voyage on the beagle was single handed the most important and defining moment of his
career. The beagle was a navy vessel which carried approximately 75 individuals. Darwin had a
different position on the ship as his counterparts. His father paid his way on the beagle which gave

Broadband Companies, The Gatekeepers Of The Internet
Broadband Companies, The Gatekeepers of The Internet. In the early 1990 s when the internet was
still new there were no regulations on how Internet Service Providers (ISP s) could operate their
broadband networks. Most being major telecommunications companies followed the same
regulations that applied to land line telephones laid out by the Federal Communications
Commision. Basically Telecoms could not block, slow, or inhibit in anyway the connection from
one caller to another neutrality. And generally since then the internethas been following the same
guidelines. But fast forward to the internet of 2014, and you ll find a very different place. There
is so much money to be made on the internet of today. ISPs and companies are always looking to
make a profit in some way. But where does that leave the user?
The internet being a largely unregulated medium in the United States is much like the Wild West,
where tech tycoons control its destiny. That s where the concept of Net Neutrality comes in. The
idea that all data traffic over the broadband networks should be treated equally. It s a concept that
has existed largely as unspoken consensus since the birth of the internet. But in our world today,
where it seems that every aspect of life has become monetized, there needs to be clearer regulations
to keep the internet open and equal for all.
The argument against Net Neutrality is given by the owners of the broadband networks. Companies

Traffickers also solved issues of rape and thefts, usually by capital punishment. Arias described
myth of personal security in the favelas, as traffickers were assisting only people in their network.
An electrician in BabilГґnia confirmed it, saying that generally people who are unhappy with UPP
are those who were related to traffickers . Drug traffickers then involved in politics in order to

The Importance Of Mathematics In Education
In this paper, I will be writing about the math curriculum, including geometry, taught in schools
across America in grades first through twelfth. In addition, I will also discuss what students in other
countries are taught in the areas of mathematics. Then, we will look at the level of mathematical
knowledge of students in the United States compares to those other countries. Finally, we will find
out if there is a way we can improve our educational system to better our future generations
understand of mathematics. First, we will briefly discuss the importance of learning mathematics at
an early age. One of the most important reasons it is important for children to learn mathematics is
that is teaches critical thinking skills. Sometimes what students learn in math is not so much
important is that it is teaching students how to think. Some math concepts are very involved and

MGT/435 Organizational Change
Mr. George Henson
December 9, 2012
In this paper the executive at a high end retail chain selling luxury watches, jewelry, and hand bags
is in charge of the company s first expansion in the international pool, which is about a new store
open in Shanghai, China. This is only a short term objective as the company expects to open several
stores in the BRIC countries, such as Brazil, Russia, India, and China, which is the long term plan.
The executive explains the chain models used to follow the short term and long term goals and the
effects these changes would have on executives, managers, and employees from the company.

When a company moves to a new and different target market it requires different strategies, as
well as skills. Another good example of transformational change is when the CEO and executives
of a company want to change the culture or/and the structure of a company. This type of change
is the requiring intensive focus and involving a lot of stress. It may be the most complex among
all three change types. The short term objective that needs to be implemented by the executive is
the open of a new store in Shanghai, China. Being a single event it may not require such intensive
focus; however, there are aspects of the matter that need to be highly considered. The strategy
proposed for the opening of a new store in Shanghai is to reach the objective through a transitional
change model. A good way to implement this change model is with the 7 S model. Waterman,
Peters, and Philips (1980) explain that the 7 S Model for Organizational change examines seven key
areas of the company, as well as the relationship of each of the elements one another. The 7 elements
are grouped into two major categories, such as: soft elements and hard elements. The elements are
as follows: strategy, structure, systems, shared values, style, staff, and skills. Through strategy, the
company plans to maintain competitive advantage, while the structure refers to the

Women, Technology And Gender Abuse In South Africa
Today s world is a technological one where people spend most of their time in front of a screen.
When we think of technology we don t immediately think Africa. We think of the developed world
where technology serves to enhance, entertain, protect as well as threaten people in those areas.
Africa as a continent is left for everything else such as dusty roads, green landscapes and women
with bright colored clothing carrying children on their backs. Technology and the internet is not
immediately associated with Africaand it should be. Africa consists of 57 countries with high
access to the worldwide internet. African countries have women who work within the media
professions as well as a large young girls who spend most of their time online posting pictures for
friends to see and like. Unfortunately, with rising users of the free internet comes rising problems
of online abuse within different African countries. What might be considered a western problem is
making its way into the African arena affecting many of its women. Countries like South Africa,
Kenya and Tanzania have had women who have faced the darker side of the internet through cyber
gender harassment. With the lack of awareness of cyber gender harassment in African countries
more women result to drastic measures such as suicide to find relief. While the world is focused on
other problems involving Africans countries, the silent threat of cyberbullying in becoming more
apparent with no means of recognising its

Population Dynamic of the Legume-Rhizobium System
Nitrogen is essential for all forms of life in that it is required to biosynthesize basic building
blocks of plants, animals and other life forms. Atmospheric nitrogen is relatively inert; however,
the fixation process can free up the nitrogen atoms from their diatomic form (N2) to compound
form (NH3) so they could be used in many ways. Biological nitrogenfixation provides about 65%
of the biosphere s available nitrogen, and most of this is done by the cooperation between legume
and rhizobia. In fact, symbiotic nitrogen fixationby rhizobia in legume root nodules injects
approximately 40 million tonnes of nitrogen into agricultural systems each year.
The symbioses is achieved through a series of intricate interactions. And rhizobia are found as
bacteroids in infected legume hosts root nodules, where they would perform nitrogen fixation and
obtain sources of energy (like photosynthate) from the plant. Were there no oppurtunity cost in the
fixation process, natural selection among rhizobia would favor those strains whose bacteroids fix
the most nitrogen. However, nitrogen fixation is energy intensive. In the case of multiple infection,
it is mots likely that the free rider scenario would take place. Cheating rhizobia would exploit plant
resources for their own reproduction rather than nitrogen fixation, resulting in their outcompeting
the fixing rhizobia and the symbioses falling apart. Thus, host monitoring of symbiont performance
and the imposition of sanctions on

Women in Renaissance Tragedy A Mirror of Masculine Society...
Women in Renaissance Tragedy A Mirror of Masculine Society *No Works Cited The life of
Renaissance women was not one that was conducive to independence, or much else, outside of their
obligations to her husband and the running of the household in general. Women, viewed as property
in Renaissance culture, were valued for their class, position, and the wealth (or lack thereof) that
they would bring into a marriage. This being said, the role of women in the literature of the day
reflects the cultural biases that were an ingrained part of everyday life. The depiction of women in
theatre particularly, is evidence of the patriarchal society that dominated the sixteenth and
seventeenth centuries. And as the genre of tragedy emerges into... Show more content on

Don Andrea is murdered, and it is at this point that Bel Imperia first introduces the idea of
revenge to the play. As soon as she finds out that Andrea is dead she vows to kill his murderer.
She demands, revenge [for the] death of my beloved (I.IV.65). She immediately vows that
Balthazar shall reap long repentance for his murderous deed . Following the death of Don
Andrea, Bel Imperia s relationship with other men, particularly Horatio, again dominates the
action of the play. Horatio, Bel Imperia s suitor, is the son of Hieronimo, a civil servant;
Lorenzo is the son of the Duke of Castile, and Balthazar is the Prince of Portugal. Once Lorenzo
and Balthazar discover that Horatio is Bel Imperia s suitor, Balthazar comments, Ambitious
villain, how his boldness grows! (II. ii. 41) indicative also of the reigning justice of the ruling
class. Horatio is viewed as trying to attain status beyond his station in life and hereby gains the
spite of Lorenzo and Balthazar. This coupled with Balthazar s desire for Bel imperia drive them
to murder Horatio. Bel imperia pleads for his life, claiming that she bore him no love, to which
Balthazar replies, But Balthazar loves Bel imperia (II. iv. 59) with a simplicity that implies that
his mere desire for Bel Imperia is reason enough for the death of Horatio. These events trigger a

James Cook Research Paper
James Cook transformed exploration with the use of modern technology to carry out his
explorations, specifically the use of navigation technology and even the use of mathematics.
Cook was a late bloomer in the age of exploration, but definitely made his mark, as he became
one of the most accomplished explorers of all time. Cook used the latest scientific methods and
techniques of cartography to chart his voyages to places such as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand
and of course Hawaii. This led to more explorers from other countries following his lead in later
explorations during the 1700 s. The main reason Cook was put in the position to carry out these
three voyages was because of his known skills and ability to use this technology. Cook was... Show

He gained technical skills needed to make an effective explorer so he could continue to carry out
difficult explorations to un charted territories. He became accustomed and well off using a
sextant, chronometer and octant just to name a few. Cook further advanced the way explorers
navigate, stated in the text the contribution to the solution of the long standing and very grave
problem of calculating longitude was based upon the successful work of astronomers and
watchmakers his advancement of surveying and cartography gave scope for much greater
individuality (Price 6). Cook was one of the first to explore the Pacific and these technologies
had evolved over the years to where he relied heavily on them. Cook relied on them to configure
how much time and the distance it would take to sail to and from the various destinations. With
this introduction to this new technology, Cook could now always get back home without loosing
any crewman. Cook created many maps and to create accurate maps representing the explorations
he went on, it was important that latitude and longitude were accurately determined. Luckily for
Cook, navigators had been able to work out latitude accurately for centuries before him by
measuring the angle of the sun with a certain instruments, these being a backstaff or quadrant.
Longitude was certainly more difficult to measure accurately because it requires precise
standpoints of the time difference between points on the surface of the earth. On his first voyage,
Cook gathered accurate longitude measurements due to his navigational skills. Cook states, the
appearance of this Cape and Hermites Islands is represented in the last view in the chart which I
have drawn of this coast from our first making land unto Cape Horn in which is included Strait Le
Maire and part of Staten land (Price 23). Cook was one of the first to chart

Gilgamesh Death Theme
Phillip Fok
IH 851 173
October 19, 2016
Final Draft
What is Death? What does it mean to die? Is death just as simple as dying? These questions are
brought up in The Epic of Gilgamesh and are a part of a theme in the epic. The story goes that
after Enkidu s death, Gilgamesh s dear friend; Gilgamesh goes and searches for Utanapishtim to
find the secret to immortality. When Gilgamesh does find Utanapishtim, and ask for the secret,
Utanapishtim responds with No one can see death [...] yet there is a savage death that snaps off
mankind (42). Death is something that only exists in man, but not gods. In a literal sense it is
immortality, in a figurative way it is change. Gods never change; they represent a greater
unchanging belief and because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a way when a character changes, his or her old self dies . For example, when Enkidu was first
born he lived his entire life in the forest with the animals, but when he met Shamat he was
changed. In this case his old self had died and thus this Enkidu that once lived in the wilderness
with the animals no longer existed. The death of Gilgamesh s old character is when he becomes
the kind and good king at the end of the epic. At first when we meet Gilgamesh we see that he is
a ruthless king that does whatever he wants, like sacrificing warriors, taking what he wants, and
sleeping with the wives of nobles. Throughout the epic he goes through several deaths like when
Enkidu died, Gilgamesh had grown hair over his body, and wore the skin of a lion and started to
roam the wilderness (32), in this case the once prideful and handsome, Gilgamesh that we met in the
beginning of the epic, had died along with Enkidu. Another death is during his adventure is when
he encountered the scorpion beings. The once boastful and powerful Gilgamesh cowered in fear
when he first met them

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites
The attraction of composites primarily stems from their ability to replace standard lightweight/high
strength metals or wood with an even lightweight/higher strength alternatively. Additionally,
composites offer new design flexibilities, improved corrosion and wear resistance, low thermal
conductivity and increase fatigue life.
Advantages of using composite material are:
пЃ¶Composites can provide a specific modulus (ratio of material stiffness to density) that is three
and half to five times greater than steel or aluminum.
пЃ¶The fatigue endurance limit is much higher than for steel or aluminum.
пЃ¶Composites can provide a specific tensile strength (ratio of material stiffness to density) that is
approximately four to six times greater than steel or aluminum.
пЃ¶Toughened composites can give impact energies significantly higher than aluminum alloys.
пЃ¶The potential for corrosion is significantly reduced.
пЃ¶Design flexibility is greater and can allow for physical property directionality in parts where
desired.
As composites bring a lot of advantages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effect of the reinforcing tabs on mode I toughness is investigated. Stitching improves the

for mode II delamination toughness of carbon epoxy composite laminates. The most commonly
used of these is the end notched flexure (ENF) configuration, (Trabelsi, Michel, Othomene, 2010,

Quicker Liquor Essay
Should We Lower the Drinking Age?| 18 vs. 21| Quicker Liquor A Short Research Paper Should
the legal drinking age be lowered? Those who supported the change for the 2009 re
authorization of the law (dubbed Pro 18), and those who wanted the law to remain at the current
age of 21 (dubbed Pro 21), had three major categories to explore for this debate: safety, binge
drinking and maturity. There is opposition and support on both sides of the issue including a
coalition founded in 2008 by a group of academic leaders called the Amethyst Initiative who
support lowering the drinking age to 18. In 1984, after Candy Lightner suffered the loss of her
daughter at the hands of a drunk driver in 1980, she created Mothers Against... Show more content

Sangahvi cites reasons other than the 21 year age law that contribute to binge drinking such as
weak state and campus alcohol control policies...and the presence of lots of bingeing older adults
(Sangahvi). In Sangahvi s article, a notation from David Rosenbloom of the Institute of Medicine
concluded that higher taxes reduce alcohol abuse and related harm to young adults and notes the
five states with the highest beer taxes have half the binge drinking [rates] of other states
(Rosenbloom in Sangahvi). The last major part of this debate is maturity. How old is old enough?
Sangahvi mentions the thing most people think first, singling out alcohol to make it off limits is
odd, since 18 year olds may legally join the military, vote, buy cigarettes.. (Sangahvi). Chris
Alexander says This [age 18] marks the time when children become legally responsible for their
actions in American society. This is when they are considered adults (Alexander). The National
Youth Rights Association addresses the developmental aspect of the argument by saying Your body
and mind improve all through out life. A 21 year old is different from an 18 year old, just as a 41
year old is different from a 38 year old. Youth Prohibition activists ignore the fact that maturity is a
gradual but uneven process that continues throughout life and is not complete on one s twenty first
birthday (http://www.youthrights.org).

The Hurricane Movie Essay
Norman Jewison s Movie The Hurricane
The problem of racial discrimination has been portrayed in many films in the last 15 years.
However, The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will leave audience
members clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened to a man named Rubin
Hurricane Carter. The movie demonstrates the racial inequity that can be found in our judicial
system through the impressive acting by Denzel Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison.
The Hurricane makes you wonder who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years.
The Hurricane creates moments of amazing heartfelt punches dealt by Denzel Washington (Rubin
Hurricane Carter), Vicellous Reon Shannon (Lezra... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then pores over documents about his case and compiles them into a book. The manuscript then
lands in the hands of Lezra Martin. Moved by Rubin s words, Lezra makes it his mission and the
mission of his three Canadian friends to bring justice for the Hurricane .
At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the support of the
Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they take Rubin s case to the New
Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is
restored.
The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent performances and
the anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel Washington proved this throughout
the film with his representation of Rubin Carter. He is known for films and works such as:
Glory, The Pelican Brief, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release
Remember the Titans. The Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However,
aside from Denzel Washington s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided and faceless.
Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya) establishes himself throughout the film as an evil presence with
an insane desire to put Rubin behind bars. His motivation is left to the imagination of the audience.
This antagonist appears to be self motivated without any clear sense of

The Fence Between Bonnie And Amanda s Property The issues generated in consideration of the contested property line between Bonnie and Amanda s property include: i) Conventional boundaries: Does the fence between Bonnie and Amanda s house constitute a conventional boundary? ii) Improvements by Mistake of Title: Whether the improvements made by Bonnie constitute an entitlement to the land. i)Conventional Boundaries In circumstances where the true location of a boundary is unascertainable, the conventional line doctrine provides abutting property owners the ability to create one. After a conventional boundary has been legitimately established, Robertson v. Alberta provides that the property owners maintain the security to rely on the boundary to lawfully develop the land under the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the previous Kardashian owners assumed that the fence was an accurate indication of the property line, which they thought was located directly between the houses and therefore never attempted to ascertain the actual location of the boundary. Robinson finds that a conventional boundary could not be existing because was no attempt to ascertain the actual boundary. Bea v. Robinson states that this attempt is a mandatory element in the foundation of a conventional boundary. Even in the presence of strong evidence that the boundary was agreed upon and treated as a boundary, it seems likely that the test for conventional boundaries must fail in consideration of the fact that the surveyor Amanda hired was able to ascertain the true boundaries which were not consistent with that of the fence. If the doctrine of conventional lines fails, the foundational principle (lecture) of estoppel provides no security for Bonnie in the reliance on the boundary to build. ii) Improvements by Mistake of Title Under the conditions that a person genuinely believes land is their own and is mistaken, statue law provides an equitable remedy when individuals have invested in lasting improvements to the land. When Apollo 11 came back from the moon, with rocks and videos, people still continue to believe that the landings were faked. Today in 2015, those people continue to believe that the landings were faked. Now why is that? Plenty of evidence that the moonlandings were real. What do i believe? My opinion is that the moon landings were real. I believe this because there are a colossal amount of evidence that it was not faked. Also, to build the rocketship it took about 6 billion dollars. I don t believe NASA or the U.S would spend that much money just for the rocket to not even go anywhere. And a lot of people would have lot to be able to keep a huge secret for a very long time. In 1969, NASA launched a spaceship that was destined to go to the moon. If the moon landings were faked why would the U.S spend that much money for nothing. And if the letter C on the rock was really for a film. • 5. Film Analysis Of Mr Burns Mr. Burns, a Post Electric Play addresses the importance of storytelling and common memory as unifying tools. From fireside tales to grand operas, stories symbolize the preservation and progression of society. Sharing a cultural history establishes bonds that, in a post apocalyptic situation, could be the difference between life and death. In translating the narrative of this production into a film, it is imperative to retain these major themes. Manipulating mise en scene through setting, lighting, and costuming can effectively direct the audiences attention in such a way as to communicate the consolidating impact of entertainment in society. The first aspect of setting to be considered is the choice between making use of existing locales as opposed to constructing settings of one s one, digitally or manually. In Act I, the setting is predominantly tame and subdued. As the playprogresses, however, the sets become exponentially more complicated. Thus, the exposition of the film adaptation should be set in an existing forest, particularly one that is expansive and contains towering trees. A location such as this, alongside the proper manipulation of other variables, would portray the emptiness of the world after experiencing a rapid decrease in population density. Additionally, the towering trees and the frightened, lonely actors beneath would communicate the threat of nature asserting its dominance over humankind. As the film changes settings, they should becoming progressively more elaborate and manufactured in appearance. The stage on which the second act takes place should be filmed in some sort of urban wasteland, such as a desolate parking lot or an empty business office. The found nature of the location solidifies the main characters as a variety of scavengers, and enables the inclusion of low level engineering employed in the play. The props in use should appear as though they were reclaimed from the wreckage, and be slightly exaggerated in color. Lastly, the final act should take place on a stage that is larger than life alongside fantastical contraptions and outrageous colors. This cements not just the ability of the survivors to continue surviving, but also reveals sophistication and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Idea Of Jesus Dying For Sin Is the idea of Jesus dying for sin barbaric or outmoded ? (Choose one.) Why or why not? I disagree with the idea of Jesus dying for sin as being an outmoded concept. Throughout history, we see over and over again of people giving up everything, including their lives, for the greater good. A person dying for what they believe in is not outdated, but the actual act of dying in such a horrific way, however, is barbaric in its nature. The entire crucifixion is one of many disgusting acts that humanity has done to each other. I m taking the phrase outmoded to mean outdated and no longer relevant to our world today. The phrase barbaric means to be exceedingly cruel, brutal, and atrocious in its very nature. According to the Bible,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. 2 This sounds eerily like the type of execution that Jesus endured. For him, there was no question of enduring that kind of pain in order to save the people. Despite the question of Jesus truly being the Messiah, he fully believed that he was sent to bring about the Kingdom of God and fulfill the covenant. Historically, the time period that Jesus was sentence to a crucifixion was reserved for the serious criminals. Rick Renner analyzed the facts surrounding the death of Jesus Christ. He stated Crucifixion was indisputably one of the cruelest and most barbaric forms of punishment in the ancient world. Flavius Josephus, the Jewish historian, described crucifixion as the most wretched of deaths. It was viewed with such horror that in one of Seneca s letters to Lucilius, Seneca wrote that suicide was preferable to crucifixion. Getting into some of the gory details, Jesus literally had a five inch iron nail through each wrist into the wood of the crossbeam. Then he was hoisted up with a rope that dropped into a groove creating even more pain in the hands and wrists. The weight of his body caused his arms to pop out of their sockets. Then the feet were nailed down as well. Slowly, all of his joints would dislocate. When he was finally too exhausted and could no longer push himself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Analyzing the Success of Quentin Tarantino s Films Quentin Tarantino s films have helped to redefine cinema. His postmodern approach, creative writing, and extensive knowledge of films and music have helped Tarantino to develop a unique style that has allowed him to stand out among his peers. In Pulp Fiction (1994), Tarantino establishes several directorial trademarks that would come to be used in his later works and can clearly be seen throughout the film. Furthermore, Tarantino s use of mise en scene helps to strengthen and establish mood and setting. Tarantino not only directed Pulp Fiction(1994), but he also co wrote the screenplay and played a role within the film. During the course of a film s production, a director is charged with guiding the actors in performance, determines the staging of the action, supervises all aspects of shooting, and works with the producer, writer, and designer before production and with the film and sound editors after production to ensure consistency and excellence of the movie as well as the best possible use of personnel, materials, and resources provided by the producer (Mast Kawin, 2003, p. 681). Tarantino s hands on approach in making his films ensure that he is involved in many, if not all, aspects of the production of his films. There are also many others that contribute to the creation and production of a film including an art director and production designer. An art director can be defined as a person who designs a movie s sets and dГѓ cor (Mast Kawin, 2003, p. 678). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The differences between the two works arise in the modern interpretation taken by Apocalypse Now, and the presentation of Heart of Darknessthemes through current events. Both Apocalypse Now(AN) and Heart of Darkness (HOD) take place within four main settings, with the same overall plot. In HOD, these settings are Brussels, the Central Station, the steamboat on the river, and Kurtz s compound. The initial settings both serve the same role: to present the main characterwith their job, and to give them the means and transportation to complete it. Both works have the jungle as the overall and main setting. Though set in Vietnam and the Congo respectively, both jungles are presented as dark and savage the entryway into the unknown. In both cases, the jungle is not initially seen as dangerous it is simply the environment, a means to an end. In this refutation, Vogel acknowledges that skepticism about IBE still remains a possibility, but that this kind of skepticism would be rather outlandish in character and thus could be ignored. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So how is this supposed to serve as a successful refutation of skepticism? To make sense of this, it should first be understood exactly how IBE qualifies its requirement for simplicity, and also what Vogel understands both mundane propositions and skeptical arguments to be comprised of. The assumption that the world works in ways that are simple, implied from the principle of induction, is construed by Vogel to mean that the better explanation would be the beliefinvolving the fewest complexities and least number of parts to argue. Vogel is under the impression that skeptical arguments involve much more complexity in order to make them parallel the ordinary beliefs they aim to compete with, and cites the example that for ordinary properties such as shape and location that could be involved in a mundane proposition, the skeptic would have to invoke a much more elaborate explanation for why we are experiencing pseudo shapes and pseudo locations. This leaves the skeptical argument at a major disadvantage when assessed by IBE s requirement for simplicity, allowing for the mundane proposition to be deemed the better explanation because of its capability to explain things as they are instead of why they appear to be as they are but really are ... • 34. Similarities Between Fight Club And The Yellow Wallpaper Christian Lane Mr. Intermaggio Modern fiction/ Non fiction 10/24/17 Fight Club and The Yellow Wallpaper share a common theme when looking through the gender lense. In both stories the main character is fighting an internal battle. In fight club, the main character feels that the expected normal life of a man is boring and he needs something more out of the ordinary to keep him going through his day to day life. The woman in The Yellow Wallpaper is dealing with a mental illness that her husband does not understand. The woman feels like she is not living up to the expectation of a female in that time. Both characters do not meet the standards of society for their given gender. Yellow Wallpaper is based on the narrator s nervous condition as she slowly loses sense of reality, the whole time being completely misunderstood and misdiagnosed by her husband, a doctor who is unable to understand a woman s mind and who believes the best treatment is to confine her to her room and rest. The narrator says, If a physician of high standing, and one s own husband, assures friends and relatives that there is really nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression a slight hysterical tendency what is one to do? (3). Reading The Yellow Wallpaper in historical context, Jane Thrailkill points out that the nineteenth century medical establishment did not understand how to deal with women s mental health issues, often misdiagnosing a whole host of disorders as female hysteria ... • 35. Araby Coming Of Age Examples Coming of age stories are an important subset of English literature. Araby and The Ball Poem are both examples of such pieces. They both depict disappointment or loss in the main characters lives, as well as the recognition that a replacement is something less than the original. In addition to this, they show the characters thoughts changing in tone after a moment of significance in the plot. Araby in particular shows a change in the main character due to it being a short storyrather than a poem, and having more time to develop the characterization. In The Ball Poem, the child, the initial subject of the poem, loses his ball and watches it bounce all the way down into the harbor, beyond recovery. However, some forms of literature, due to length restrictions, are unable to show the process in full, and so will describe the initiating event, which it is assumed will eventually lead to the subject maturing over time. One example of this is the poem The Ball Poem, by John Berryman; do to its relatively short length, Berryman told of the loss of the ball, which was a metaphor for innocence and childhood, and how the child would now have to learn to deal with the loss and keep going. Araby, in comparison, is a longer text, though still a short story, and as such is not constrained by the same length restrictions. Darwin embarked on the HMS Beagle as Fitzroy s naturalist unpaid companion. The caption was given two missions, completed a survey of the southern coast of South American and to obtain more accurate fixes of longitudes by using new instruments. Darwin plans were to observe and collect specimens on the voyage. One of Darwin s most significant discoveries was his discovery of the finches located on the GalГЎpagos Islands. The finches were a major key to Darwin s theory of natural selection. Traveling in the HMS Beagle also gave Charles Darwinthe idea of the theory of evolution and natural selection. Darwin s voyage on the beagle was single handed the most important and defining moment of his career. The beagle was a navy vessel which carried approximately 75 individuals. The idea that all data traffic over the broadband networks should be treated equally. It s a concept that has existed largely as unspoken consensus since the birth of the internet. But in our world today, where it seems that every aspect of life has become monetized, there needs to be clearer regulations to keep the internet open and equal for all. • 44. Population Dynamic of the Legume-Rhizobium System Nitrogen is essential for all forms of life in that it is required to biosynthesize basic building blocks of plants, animals and other life forms. Atmospheric nitrogen is relatively inert; however, the fixation process can free up the nitrogen atoms from their diatomic form (N2) to compound form (NH3) so they could be used in many ways. Biological nitrogenfixation provides about 65% of the biosphere s available nitrogen, and most of this is done by the cooperation between legume and rhizobia. In fact, symbiotic nitrogen fixationby rhizobia in legume root nodules injects approximately 40 million tonnes of nitrogen into agricultural systems each year. The symbioses is achieved through a series of intricate interactions. And rhizobia are found as bacteroids in infected legume hosts root nodules, where they would perform nitrogen fixation and obtain sources of energy (like photosynthate) from the plant. Were there no oppurtunity cost in the fixation process, natural selection among rhizobia would favor those strains whose bacteroids fix the most nitrogen. However, nitrogen fixation is energy intensive. In the case of multiple infection, it is mots likely that the free rider scenario would take place. Cheating rhizobia would exploit plant resources for their own reproduction rather than nitrogen fixation, resulting in their outcompeting the fixing rhizobia and the symbioses falling apart. Cook was one of the first to explore the Pacific and these technologies had evolved over the years to where he relied heavily on them. Cook relied on them to configure how much time and the distance it would take to sail to and from the various destinations. Cook created many maps and to create accurate maps representing the explorations he went on, it was important that latitude and longitude were accurately determined. Luckily for Cook, navigators had been able to work out latitude accurately for centuries before him by measuring the angle of the sun with a certain instruments, these being a backstaff or quadrant. Longitude was certainly more difficult to measure accurately because it requires precise standpoints of the time difference between points on the surface of the earth. On his first voyage, Cook gathered accurate longitude measurements due to his navigational skills.
