Rick And Murty Analysis
Rick and Morty is an animated sci fi sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Adult
Swim. It follows a cynical, irresponsible, drunken mad scientist named Rick Sanchez and his
somewhat naive grandson Morty while they travel through space and between dimensions using
Rick s portal gun. It s basically Back to the Future except they travel through the multiverse rather
than time (and no one ever awkwardly dates their mom). The science in the show is often just an
excuse for some wonderfully geeky humor. Rick and Morty references enough scientific concepts
to do dozens of these videos but today we re going to use this show as a vehicle to take a look at
quantum mechanics. Be sure to check out the sources, which are in the description... Show more

A Geiger counter and tiny bit of some radioactive element are in the room. Within some time, say
one day, one of the radioactive element s atoms might decay, or there may be no decay. The
Geiger counter can measure whether or not any decay has occurred. If it measures decay, it will
release a poison, which will kill the cat. If it doesn t, it won t. The cat may be thought of as
simultaneously both alive and dead, a state known as a quantum superposition, as a result of being
linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur. This thought experiment helps us
understand both the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics and the problem that
Schrödinger saw in it. If the Copenhagen interpretation suggests the radioactive material can have
simultaneously decayed and not decayed in the sealed environment, then it follows the cat too is
both alive and dead until the box is opened. Common sense tells us this is not the case, and
Schrödinger used this to highlight the limits of the Copenhagen interpretation when applied to
practical situations. The cat is actually either dead or alive, whether or not it has been observed. In
the many worlds interpretation, the cat would be both alive and dead until observed. After that, the
universe would split into two timelines. One where cat is alive and another where the cat is

The Impacts Of Classical Music In The 20th Century...
The twentieth century music composition gave way to more incorporation to music as it was
known. It was the time when musical rules could be reinvented, altered and in some cases
completely ignored (Hansen, et al 154). This classical music was described by many different
works such as, orchestral, solos, operas, concertos, symphonies, chamber music, and many others
(Hansen, et al 168). As stated by Hansen, et al, Some musical styles within the modernist movement
were impressionism, serialism, minimalism, electronic music, experimental music, and change
music (160). All the musical styles were influenced through jazz but it was a moment of
breakthrough for all the composers since all rules were ignored. Aaron Copland and Benjamin
Britten were two composers of that century that shaped the way twentieth century classical music
was viewed. The different elements of classical musical such as melody, harmony, texture, rhythm,
timbre, and form are what characterized the twentieth century classical music. First, twentieth
century music had taken a different approach than earlier music eras. There were varieties of
differences which started from the instruments and the sounds that it produced to the complexity of
the textures. The composers used new approaches and ideas to their compositions and broke many
rules. The composers used the instruments and electronics to push ideas of serious music into the
mainstream (Hansen, et al 169). The twentieth century was known for

Compare And Contrast Langston Hughes And I Hear America...
Langston Hughes wrote a poem that some believe is in response to a poem Walt Whitman made.
Walt Whitman s poem I hear America Singing is basically a description of the people who made
up America at the time. The mothers, the carpenters, the masons, the shoemakers, the wood
cutters, etc, were all the different types of people that made up what America, said of the poem.
With Langston Hughes s poem I, Too, Sing America , the poem is making a sort of claim that
Hughes s and blacks alike also have a right to feel patriotic towards and be a part of America.
Both poems are pretty similar to what they re subject is (America), but they are quite different
when it comes to what exactly the two poems are mainly focusing on. Hughes s poem builds on
top of Whitman s poem in more ways than one. Every single person with their described job in
Whitman s poem was said to have been sung loud and strong as to what they were doing when
working, meaning that they took pride in how they worked and what kind of work they did.
With how there s so many types of people and jobs being talked about in Whitman s poem, you
would think it would include the lives of blacks and how they have dealt with all the racism and
stuff at the time (later on too). Hughes s poem is a type of add on to Whitman s poem in the way
of including the whole of black peopleinto the mix, with many lines in the poem stating things of
which overall say that even if you re black you should still be allowed to partake in things and be
in an area without any prejudice towards your skin color.
Hughes s poem is more of an argument against that of the people (whites) back then who were
prejudice against blacks. With the first couple of lines of I, Too, Sing America , the lines mean
that even if he is sent to the kitchen when company comes, he ll still laugh and eat well and grow
stronger from the experience, not really seeing it as if it were bad but more of a motivation to
stop it from happening again. When coming to the lines of Tomorrow, I ll be at the table When
company comes. Nobody ll dare Say to me, Eat in the Kitchen, Then , the lines that are given here
are just saying that this time around he ll be at the table when the company and no one

Immanuel Kant s Toward Perpetual Peace
War is natural, human beings can not get enough war. This was stated by Immanuel Kant in one of
his famous essays Toward Perpetual Peace a philosophical sketch . Immanuel Kant was a
philosopher who was credited for effecting the combination of empiricist philosophy which
dominated Great Britain and the rationalist philosophythat had dominated the European continent.
Kant introduced a new way of thinking about the relation of the human mind to the dispassionate
world and also established a powerful method of moral reasoning. Kant s essay Toward Perpetual
Peace was published in 1795 and the target audience was politicians.

the actions of nations. The UN charter also provides an outline like Kant s essay for the nations

differences also. The UN charter states In order to enable the United Nations to take urgent military

The Breakfast Club Analysis
Don t Skip Breakfast!
The Breakfast Club is a timeless movie centered around the very relevant concept of discovering
your identity and breaking away from stereotypes. It is about a group of 5 defiant high school
students who are all forced to spend their Saturday in detention. The five main characters include
Claire (Molly Ringwald) the princess, Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) the brain, Andrew (Emilio
Estevez) the jock, Allison (Ally Sheedy) the weirdo, and John Bender (Judd Nelson) the criminal.
These students have very different personalities and very little in common or so they think. The
five are stuck together under the oppressive authority of Richard Vernon (Paul Gleason) the
Principal, who served as a common enemy for the students. Their sole task for that Saturday was
to write an essay describing who they are, a question that remained pondered for the duration of
the film as The Breakfast Club is an iconic story of self discovery.
WHAT WORKED The Breakfast Club did an excellent job of capturing the strife of students as
they try and find themselves through their adolescent years. They have all been cast a different
stereotype and at the beginning of the movie it is clear that all of the characters have a fairly
decent idea of who they think everyone is. Every viewer can relate to at least one of the various
stereotypes, and I think your overall enjoyment of the movie will depend on how easily you can
identify with one of the characters. Their stereotypes are

Taking a Closer Look at Non-Government Organizations
The Bridgespan Group, a non profit consultancy, conducted a study on the potential of global
NGOs.The study found that since 1990 NGOs registered with USAID (United States Agency for
International Development) had doubled to 579, and average annual funding has tripled to $50
million and in few cases the annual funding exceeds $1 billion (Queenan et al. 2). Increasingly,
NGOs, or Non Governmental Organizations, dominate healthcare aid and interventions. Their
overwhelming presence comes with equally charged influence over key societal issues such as
dispersal of aid and types of interventions. This has proven to be controversial as some view NGOs
as facilitators of empowerment, change, and progress. Others view them as promoting special
agendas and interests, plagued with misinformed and poor policy making, and heavy reliance on
funding. Aggregation of these trends raises important questions about the efficiency of NGOs and
their impact on the regions they serve. Critics charge that increasing neo liberal policies fragment
healthcare alternatives in host countries; NGOs may not offer sustainable healthcare intervention
programs; and that their objectives and policies often work against the host populations, which
reinforce inequalities.NGO is simply a non government organization that is traditionally non profit.
However, USAID and other governments do fund NGOs, and there are profit based NGOs. This
makes the term more complex and creates confusion; thus, it is necessary

Personal Statement For Women
Personal Statement
Stop studying math so hard, girl. How will math help you? My high school classmate Yijie jeered
at me when I told him I wanted to major in mathematics and computer science. Such complex
subjects are just not suitable for women. Although Yijie was not an old fashioned person, he
insisted that women were inferior in high technology fields. In my country, China, this gender
stereotype still affects women s lives, from major placement decision to their career path choice. I
strongly oppose this constraining opinion, and firmly believe that women are capable to make great
achievements in modern high technology as men do. Therefore, I made up my mind to show
people that women can also succeed in mathematics and computer science. I have been committed
to mathematics and computing since I was young. My parents are both accountants. They taught
me a lot math and computer skills in my childhood. Their love and passion towards math and
computing had a huge impact on me. As I went to school, math and computer science immediately
attracted me. Its logicality and challenge gave me a deep sense of satisfaction. I enjoyed
challenging fixed answers and finding new ways to solve problems. Compared to my peers, I
always understood math and computer problems faster and more accurately. Furthermore, I
fortunately had a great woman math teacher in my junior high school. As she discovered my
devotion and potential in math, she encouraged me to join competitions and

People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA)
Some are blind to the fact that every ten seconds an animal is abused in the U.S. 60% of abused
animals are dogs and 26% of the dogs are Pitbulls. Only 1,920 crimes against animals are
reported a year. Many people believe that animals have no feelings and feel no pain, that they are
in this world for slave labor and torture. Those people couldn t be more wrong. Animals may look
different from humans, but they have just as much the right to live happy lives and thrive as human
beings do. People use the term animal as one that is savage and unruly, so does that make humans
the animals? Some animals are rescued and are given the chance to live out a human like life, but
then there are even more who don t get that same chance. So fight for the rights of these animals

One organization that stand out above the rest, for many reasons, is PETA. People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rightsorganization in the world with over three
million members and supporters. They focus on the four area with the most suffering animals
involved, which are on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the
entertainment industry. They also work on issues with the cruelty to domestic animals and even
rodents. PETA filed a lawsuit against David slater, a wildlife photographer, who positioned a
camera to take pictures of the monkeys. A macaque monkey took selfies with the camera and
PETA wants to make the monkey the copyright owner of the photos. They say the money gained
by the photo should be used to help the macaque monkeys. PETA also argues that the copyright
laws have no restrictions and species and makes it clear that the owner of the photos to the one
that takes it. People should try to be like PETA, but to an extent. Maybe then the world could be a

4.Explain the relationship between performance management and value creation. is a process by
which managers and employees work together to plan, monitor and review an employee s work
objectives and overall contribution to the organization. Value creation is the primary aim of any
business entity. Creating value for customers helps sell products and services, while creating value
for shareholders. The two tie together because the company wants to improve on their internal
processes and that includes having products or services that customers will buy and use and that is
the ultimate goal of an organization to create streaming revenues.

Term Limits Should Not Be Beneficial
Debate Paper
Putting limits on the amount of terms a member of Congress can serve is a highly debated issue.
Many people are against term limits. They argue that term limits are unconstitutional and that they
infringe on the rights of the American people to choose who they want to represent their states.
However, many people also argue that term limits would be beneficial. Term limits would be
beneficial because it would put an end to career politicians, give new people a chance to solve the
nation s problems, and limit corruption.
The founding fathers left nothing about term limits for any political office in the Constitution.
George Washington set the precedent for term limits when he retired after two terms in office. Most
presidents after him also stopped running after two terms. Franklin Roosevelt was the only
president with more than two terms. He ran and was elected four times, though he died in the
beginning of his fourth term. After his four terms, the twenty second amendment was passed in
1951. The amendment says that no one should be elected to office more than twice. In 1995, the
idea of term limits in Congress was brought to the United States Supreme Court. An article in the
Arkansas constitution denied ballot access to any candidate who had already served three terms in
the United States Congress. In a case INC versus Thornton, the Supreme Court ruled that it was
unconstitutional for states to impose restrictions on term limits. While states

Pharmaceutical Companies and the Availability of Hiv Drugs...
1) Is the monopoly on patented pharmaceuticals warranted? What barrier to entry prevents the re
importation into the United States of pharmaceuticals sold at lower prices abroad (say, in
Canada)? Pharmaceutical companies try to maintain a monopoly in the early stages of a drug in
order to recover R amp;D investment. During this period of exclusivity they will try to make a
fair profit. This is not a monopoly in the true sense of the word because this period is limited in
time. It is perhaps better to describe it as a limited warranty. There are also other limitations.
Pharmaceutical companies in some countries may not respect intellectual property and may copy or
produce generic drugs even before the patent expires.
An important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The successful products must therefore provide sufficient margins to recover R amp;D costs and to
finance future projects. Packaging and transportation will also result in significantly higher costs
than say the manufacture of cereal.
Another factor for higher margins is the greater risk that pharmaceutical companies take on. It is
impossible to tell whether a viable drug that is safe for the public will emerge, and competitors
may launch a better drug in the time period between submission and regulatory approval. Because
of grey trade, the company may also find its profit margin in high priced markets being eroded.
Suggest an approach to the big pharmaceutical company problem of differential pricing in the US,
Western Europe, and Japan versus the less developed world.
At the moment, differential pricing is the pharmaceutical industry s preferred solution to inadequate
financial access to anti retroviral (ARV) therapies for AIDS. Differential pricing permits drugs to be
sold cheaply in low income countries, while maintaining high prices in markets like the United
States.
The alternative to differential pricing would be uniform pricing, wherein the wherein the seller sets
one price, adjusted for transport, distribution and other costs, for all consumers and markets. Under
such pricing, the seller maximizes his profits against global demand or

My Writing As A Writer
I may not be the best writer there is out there but I do put all of me into each piece I develop. I
believe in giving it your all at all times. If your giving it anything less why try at all. I m huge on
that theory and I believe it means a lot more than I believe it to be. I hope that each piece I
submit this semester is nothing less than my best and I hope to take in all the criticism and use
it to my advantage. I can create my most creative writings in a peaceful enviroment. I m easily
distracted and as soon as I hear another noise my mind instantly steers off track. So when it s

A delusion is a false belief that is resistant to reason. Delusions are often the cause of people s

Symbols In The Bloody Chamber
The presentation of gifts is an important aspect of modern day relationships, with the entire
fourteenth of February dedicated to the exchange of chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. These
presents are meant to serve as tokens of affection; symbolic of the devotion between lovers.
However, Angela Carter presents these same gifts as obstacles that mediate the interactions
between a couple, often to the detriment of the relationship. In her modern reimagining of The
Grimm s Fairy Tales, The Bloody Chamber, Angela Carter perverts these symbolic displays of love
to illustrate that a relationship mediated by gifts, masks, and secrets will suffer the consequences.
The gifts exchanged in these stories act as barriers between lovers, obscuring each... Show more

The Marquis and his wife in The Bloody Chamber suffer from distorted perceptions, and this is
smphasized in the repeated use of mirrors. Around their marital bed, there were mirrors on all the
walls, in stately frames of contorted gold (14). Everything that happens in that room is amplified
and multiplied, and reflected in the description of contorted gold is the idea of the distortions an
image bears when it is mirrored. Their multitude forces his bride to watch as a dozen husbands
approach [her] in a dozen mirrors (15). Her actual husband is lost among all the imposters and
again, she is forced to see him refracted through the glass. In the same way that her perceptions of
her husband are altered, she feels distorted. She states that I seemed reborn in his unreflective eyes,
reborn in unfamiliar shapes, which highlights how mediation has corrupted the relationship (20).
Within the same story and in direct contrast, the piano tuner Jean Yves is an example of the power
of undistorted perceptions. Though he is blind, he does not suffer from the same misinterpretations.
While it is ironic that the blind man sees the clearest, it proves that the lack of mediation does not
refer only to sight. His blindness and correlated success also highlights the issues the mirrors
caused with the Marquis because he cannot fall prey to the secondary

Essay on Understanding Work Duties in Business Management
There are many different fields in the business world. Business Management is the largest field in
the corporate world. It takes responsibility, skill and determination to form a successful business of
any type. There are numerous areas within a business that need the skills of management. Control
of expenses, payroll, time management, and to initially raise capital to start a business all are areas
in which management has to play an important role. Any businesses main objective is to gain a

One type of cost is called fixed cost. This type of cost is the expense of a business that does not
change and are always constant in a business. When money is made, debts are the first initiative to
be paid off. Fixed costs include rent, wages to employees, and equipment needed to produce you
good and or service. In for example a Flower shop, the fixed costs would be the rent on the
building, the payment of the delivery vans, and employee salaries. The other type of costs is
called variable cost. This type of cost is one that is ever changing. Again in a Flower shop the
variable costs would be a dozen roses. One week a dozen roses may cost the flower shop five
dollars to buy them and then they sell them for forty five dollars. Then the next week the price
of the roses my rise by five dollars now costing the flower shop ten so in order for the florist to
make the same amount of money as last week he needs to increase his price to the consumer
with the increase on price he is paying. The basic main idea of cost is to keep it as low as
possible to gain the highest profits. Determining the profit of a business is another major part of
management. Profit is the total income that you receive after paying all of your debts. All debts
include for example rent, wages, and interest. A general formula to calculate profit is P = R C.
This says when total revenue is subtracted from

My Passion For Criminal Justice
For as long as I can remember I ve had a passion for the criminal justice field. I once dreamed
about becoming a lawyer until I realized my desire for truly helping individuals master a sense of
accomplishment and self worth. Admiring my mother being a licensed clinical social worker for
the developmental disabilities population I too wanted to assist individuals with gratifying change
through behaviormodification. I later confirm my admiration and desire to assist in a person s
self accomplishment working as a teacher aid during the summer of my freshman and sophomore
years of high school. It was not only satisfying to see the over flow of joy whenever I helped a
child reach a new goal but to know I assisted them to that accomplishment made it all worthwhile.
Additionally, holding an interest in criminal justice and human services I found a child advocacy
program which fit my desire to gain more knowledge of the law regarding child protection in
conjunction to the psychological hardships abuse and neglect have on the child victim and their

An Old Man With Enormous Wings, By Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s short story An old man with enormous wings written in 1955
discusses an old man who is found by two villagers named Pelayo and Elisenda in their
courtyard. This particular man is described as an old, poor man, with enormous wings, who
speaks an incomprehensible dialect with a strong sailor s voice (451). Many people think he is
angel as the neighbor woman said: he s an angel, he must have being coming for the child
(Pelayo and Elisenda s newborn baby who had been sick) but the poor fellow is so old that the
rain knocked him down (452). Others like Father Gonzaga think he is someone sent by the devil
because he did not understand the language of god or how to greet the minister (452). The
doctor thinks he is a human like everyone else but what surprises him more was that why other
men didn t have wings like him (455). For Pelayo an Elisenda the angel is actually someone who
came to change their lives. The angel makes significant changes once he appears in Elisenda s and

can be compared to The Minister s Black Veil: A Parable by Nathain Hawthorne as how Mr.

he has something to hide. The angel is a human too, the only thing that distinguishes him are his

Comparing The Works Of Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya...
In the words of Former Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch, This country was
founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that
promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy but we ll get there together. Rosa
Parks fought for herself and other people of color to gain equal rights, which not only impacted
her generation, but also future societies. Throughout Rosa s journey, she mirrors the image of the
caged bird written in Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou s poems, due to the events that
changed her and released her from her cage. Even though the path for equal rights was not always
easy, Rosa Parksand the oppressed men and women led the revolution that broke them free from
segregation laws. Before Rosa Parks and other colored civilians in the United States during the

Americans, similar to the birds in Dunbar and Angelous poems felt trapped. Rosa and many
others feared being tormented, so most complied with the segregation laws that were in place.

The Stateless Nation Of O-Go-Knee
Hello everybody. This presentation is on the stateless nation of Ogoni (O go knee).
Some background information on them. They are known as the Ogoni people. Most are christian
and/or believe in their ancient traditions. They live in Ogoniland, Nigeria. The nation is about 404
square miles. They speak the Ogoni language and their population is about 2 million people. The
group that is helping them most to become a state is MOSOP.
Ogoniland is located in River State on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, east of Port Harcourt.
Ogoniland is divided into the 6 kingdoms of Babbe (Bab), Gokhana (Gawk na), Ken Khana (Ken

military government. Independent international observers expressed their deep doubts about
the fairness of the trial in protest of the Tribunal s failure to meet even Nigeria s own standards
of fairness. On October 31, 1995, Ken Saro Wiwa and eight other Ogoni were sentenced to death

Companies fitting a certain archetype have benefitted from greater financial success and have been
able to build more dominant global brands relative to brand with less defined, if not confused
archetypes.
The purpose of this exploration is to examine the origins of archetypes and their relevance in the
context of global branding. In doing so, the paper will present literature that supports the importance
of archetypes and imprints in consumers perceptions and global branding, as well as the benefits
both financially and competitively to companies that utilize them. By its conclusion the discussion
attempts to build an argument substantiating the importance of archetype consciousness in global
branding in order to gain a competitive advantage beyond product attributes or pricing and
distribution strategies..
The Importance of Imprints to Branding
The author Graeme Newell in the article Marketing Without Words The Power of Emotional
Attachment to Branding discusses the importance of brands in creating an emotional attachment
and relationships with their consumers. By creating these relationships we make it easier for
customers to recognize and imprint the brands into their psyche: Most brands are easy to describe.

Symbolism In My Sister s Keeper
Fire a metaphor of life
The book I have read is called My sister s keeper, and is written by Jodi Picoult. It is about a
family of five, with two daughters and a son. Their oldest daughter, Kate, got leukemia when she
was two years old, and her parents decided to have another child to save her. The newborn baby,
Anna, was used to donate blood to Kate. Eventually, when Anna is older she decides to sue her
parents for the rights of her own body, when she is told to donate a kidney to her sister. Through
the book we also meet the sister s older brother, Jesse, as well as their parents, Brian and Sarah,
Anna s lawyer, Campbell, and her guardian ad litem, Julia. Fire is a central theme in the book,
and is used as a metaphor in many different ways. First we can read different quotes about fire as
we go trough the book. Secondly we hear their father s description of fire on page 141, and lastly
how we interpret fire ourselves.
There are at least ten quotes about fire in the book. The quote on page 71 is my favorite quote in
the book, because I feel that it describes the family s situation, as well as making you read between
the lines after a deeper meaning.
I will read ashes for you, if you ask me.

there will be times in life where you no longer can control it. Getting old, the fire burns out, and
when the fire dies, so do we. The ashes that remains are our story from our lives we had down at

Augustine Of Hippo And Wolfgang Iser
Meaning is not created in one single time frame, it develops and evolves over time. Representation
refers to the essential part of the process by which meaning is produced and exchanged between
members in a culture (Hall 15). Theorists such as Augustine of Hippo, Jaques Lacan, Northrop Frye,
Roland Barthes, and Wolfgang Iser all have diverging opinions on the topic of representation due to
the evidently contrasting themes that they presented in each of their works. From the time of the
third century up until the more recent twentieth century, each of the listed theorists came to
differrnt conclusions about the representation due to the culture by which they were surrounded,
and the meaning that they were attempting to present. Despite differing... Show more content on

Inspiration for his analysis came from his formative years by phenomenological and
psychoanalytic reformulations of psychiatric practice that began to criticize the constitutional
model of the causation of mental disorders dominant during that period (Groden 573). Michael
Groden also states that inspiration for Lacan s works came from the hysteria and paranoia of
society on the issue of delirious subjects (573). While Lacan was heavily inspired by the
psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Lacan also greatly contributed to the field of literary
theory and criticism specifically in his speculations on language, the subject, sexual difference,
ethics, and the unconscious (Groden 573). In his text, Lacan s focus is on the connection between
the structure of language of the unconscious with the formula that defines the sign (Baggett

Comparsion of Sandra CisnerosВґ Barbie-Q and Annie ChopinВґs...
In Sandra Cisnero s short story Barbie Q, a Barbie doll is used to portray the author s inner
struggle to achieve perfection, and how her young age and innocence clouds her identity.
Throughout the text it is very clear that the author, a young girl, had come from an underprivileged
family and faced the issues many families of lower socioeconomic background typically face. In
the short storyit is also evident that her gender plays a massive role in damaging her self esteem
and confidence, as both the media and the author s social background have continuously portrayed
women as weak, powerless figures. Similarly, in The Story of an Hour by Annie Chopin, the
protagonist, once again a female figure represented the life of domesticity a womanis expected to
hold by society. Although Chopin s story was written in the late 1800s and Barbie Q is a very
modern story, both depict the protagonist females as very helpless, incapable figures that trail after
the overpowering men.
In the second paragraph of Barbie Q, the author speaks from a first person perspective while
describing how she typically plays pretend using her dolls. The narrator explains to the reader
that, Your Barbie is roommates with my Barbie, and my Barbie s boyfriend comes over and your
Barbie steals him, okay? Kiss kiss kiss. Then the two Barbies fight. You dumbbell! He s mine. This
text openly reveals how the young author, who presumably has not even reached her teen years yet,

The Trolley Problem, by Judith Jarvis Thomson
The Bystander at the Switch case is a fundamental part of Thomson s argument in Trolley
Problem. The basis of her paper is to explain the moral difference between this case, which she
deems morally permissible (1398), and the Transplant case, which she deems morally
impermissible (1396). In the Bystander at the Switch case, a bystander sees a trolley hurtling
towards five workers on the track and has the option of throwing a switch to divert the trolley s
path towards only one worker. Thomson finds the Bystander at the Switch case permissible under
two conditions: 1)first, that the same threat is diverted from a larger to a smaller group of people,
and 2)second, that the means by which this threat is diverted does not in itself... Show more content

However, Thomson does concede that even in the Bystander in the Switch case, the bystander
does infringe a right of the one s (1406), but she justifies this by distinguishing the outcome of
the action from the means by which the outcome was achieved. In other words: Turning the
trolley onto the right hand track is not itself an infringement of a right of anybody s. The agent
would do the one no wrong at all if he turned the trolley onto the right hand track, and by some
miracle the trolley did not hit him. (Thomson 1409) Technically, this is true for the Mother Son
case too. The mother simply has to turn the trolley onto the right hand track like the bystander,
and if that does not infringe on any rights in the Bystander case, the same action cannot infringe
on someone s rights in the Mother Son case. On the other hand, in the Fat Man case, the agent
would actually have to topple the fat man off of the footbridge, by pushing him or purposefully
acting to make him fall, which in itself is an infringement of his rights (1410). Though it satisfies
both of Thomson s conditions, the Mother Son case is still morally impermissible for reasons
apart from the conditions Thomson listed. The Mother Son case is impermissible because of the
nature of the relationship between the bystander and the one. A mother has a very important role
for her child: she is morally obligated to keep him as safe and healthy as she can.

Being Frugal Research Paper
We all want to save money and often times go the extra mile to do so, but is there a such thing as
too frugal ?
Definitely! Here s how to gauge when you re taking it a bit too far!
Deprivation: Frugality comes from sparing resources while still meeting your basic needs. Being
frugal should never mean that you are depriving yourself from the basics, i.e food. When budgeting
and determining what changes you re making to your spending habits the most important thing is to
make sure your needs are met regardless. Deprivation is not limited to food, don t deprive yourself
from basic human needs such as new clothes, human interaction ( trust me, avoiding spending
money on activities can cause this) and special personal advances. Keep your needs met and it will
all fall in place.
Senseless Frugality: This refers to spending money foolishly. Being frugal has to make sense, if
not you re doing it wrong. I urge you to remember Cheaper does not mean better for your pockets!
Buying the paper plates that cost 99 cents for 100 may seem like a better option in comparison to
the $2.99 for 40. But let take a closer look the food seeps through the cheaper version and you ll
run through it twice as fast hence this is what we refer to as senseless frugality you save a little

Critics have said that is one of Pite best work. Dark Matters is as much a study of the human
condition, and of the violence in nature especially our own natures. This dance tiptoes along the
edge of hysteria, describing our clammy response to the unknown. (Johnson). Dark Matters
explores violent behavior and how all each person deals with their state of mind differently.
However, there are some critics who believe the movement is unrealistic. The movement lacks
gravity because of constant rolls and drifts in the body. The dancers in Kidd Pivot Frankfurt RM s
new performance, Dark Matters, at the Newmark Theatre, seem entirely unencumbered by the
laws of physics. Their bodies float through space and slide and roll across the ground like they
ve never known gravity or friction. (Scott). It is obvious that their movements took a lot of
structure and discipline to perform. Furthermore, the ending is what took everyone by surprise.
This piece ended in a duet that was full on puppet like qualities. The movement was constant and
repetitive like someone was pulling the strings to control them. The evening ends with a duet that
s both puppet like and divinely human. Taken with everything that came before it, you re left
thinking about manipulation of every kind, and power, to the extent that anyone has it. And that
itself is powerful stuff. (Wisener). The ending left everyone in awe. It was tragic when the male
lead died from a broken heart. In the end the female lead began to pick at the dead man heart.
This part was inhumane because she was sewing his heart back together hoping that he would
come back to life. (Dark Matters). Overall, great performance. Pite did a good job at imagining
how she wanted her choreography and vision to come

Geographical Location Of The Aegean World Essay
Geographical location: The Aegean world is composed of three distinctive regions, all located
at the Eastern edge of the Mediterranean: the island of Crete, the mainland of Greece, and the
islands between the mainland and the coast of Anatolia. There are signs of earthquake damage
at many Minoan sites and clear signs of both uplifting of the land and submersion of coastal sites
due to tectonic processes all along the coasts. The Mycenaean citadel on Mainland Greece
stands high above the Aegean Sea, surrounded by walls of stone so large they are called
Cyclopean, as if only the mythic giant Cyclops could have moved them into place. Climate:
Religion: The Minoans seem to have worshipped primarily goddesses, and their culture has been
described as being based on a matriarchal religion. It was not dominated by fertility any more than
any religion of the past or present has been, and it addressed gender identity, rites of passage, and
death. It is reasonable to assume that both the organization and the rituals, even the mythology,
resembled the religions of Near Eastern palatial civilizations.Although there is some evidence of
male gods, depictions of Minoan goddesses vastly outnumber depictions of anything that could be
considered a Minoan god. While some of these depictions of women may be images of
worshippers and priestesses officiating at religious ceremonies, as opposed to deities, several
goddesses appear to be portrayed. The people of the mainland, the Mycenaeans,

Civil Inattention
This chapter was an eye opener for me and very informative, but I was really interested in civil
inattention. I say this because I am sure we all experience civil inattention everywhere from just
simply walking outside, going to the movie theaters, shopping at the mall, shopping at the
supermarket, etc. I find it interesting because this is not something that we would even notice or
talk about. I know in this society, we don t regularly talk to strangers, we try to avoid eye contact
as much as possible. When people stare at you longer than what s acceptable and it doesn t take the
attention in the way it was meant to be, then anger could be a result due to misunderstanding. For

stolen by Stella that Magda dies, Magda is seen by a soldier as she is grieving for the loss of her
shawl (paragraph 14). A young girl of 14, Stella barely holds on to her own life in the
concentration camp, she desperately seeks comfort and protection. Like many others, Stella s

William Shakespeare s The Red Cedar
In reality the world needed another Olivia Benson and I believed I would be just that. However I
wanted a challenge so I decided to be Imani Horne the Criminal Attorney. After years of watching
intense show downs in the courtroom I thought I d found my calling. I was selected for an
internship with Samuel Terry. While attending several murder cases it took one family court
case to drive me away from being a Criminal Attorney. I can still imagine the uttering cries of the
mother and her children. There I found my calling, adolescents! Throughout high school my
passion were the greats, Shakespeare, Poe, Hemingway, Dickens, Twain, and the list goes on. In
particular Shakespeare picked my brain constantly. His works have survived and remain
triumphant even today. Though teachings were shallow I still remained engulfed by his works.
Which lead me to dive into English on the banks of the Red Cedar. My plan was to begin with
the foundations of my literary study to sharpen my skills. This meant the introduction of how
we read and what to look for also known as close reading. The Introduction to Reading Poetry
with Mr.Pogue equipped me to understand the poets hidden persona and how to make sense of it.
As this was a challenging course I believed I still wanted to embark on this journey. The
Foundations of Literary study with Mrs.Barksdale Shaw molded me to decipher all types of
works. Literary works ranged from poems, music lyrics, and even plays. By the time I completed the

Characters In Life Of Pi
The novel Life of Pi illustrates the life of a character named Pi during his 227 days lost at sea.
There is a strong connection between the author Yann Martel and the characters and setting in the
story Life of Pi. Martel s time spent in India was the major influence for this book as many of the
characters and story are influenced by his experiences in India. The animals in the book, which
play a major part in the story, are influenced primarily from Martel s visit to the Trivandrum Zoo,
which contains all the animals in the story except the orangutan. Religionalso plays a major role in
the story, which is influenced from Martel s visit to India as he learned about the religious culture
of India. Although Martel did not directly experience the events that occurred in Life of Pi, his time
spent in India helped to influence his work. Yann Martels visit to the Trivandrum Zoo helped to
largely inspire the characters in his novel Life of Pi. Even Luke Harding agrees that the:
Trivandrum Zoo one of India s oldest provided much of the inspiration behind Yann Martel s
extraordinary novel Life of Pi, which won the Booker prizelast week (Harding). Some of the
most important characters in Life of Pi come in the form of animals, and all of these animals can
be found in this zoo except for the orangutan. Martel s visit to the Trivandrum Zoo helped to give
character to the animals as it helped to give Martel a perspective on the animals behavior,

Oedipus Rex and Aristotle Essay example
The Six Elements of a Tragedy in Oedipus Rex Aristotle s The Poetics describes the process of a
tragedy. It is not the guide per se of writing a tragedy but is the idea s Aristotle collected while
studying tragedies. A tragedy, according to Aristotle, consists of six major points. The first and
most important is the plot, which is what all the other points are based on. Such points are: character
, language, thought, melody, and spectacle (Aristotle). A prime example of the usage of these parts
in a tragic drama is evident in SophoclesOedipus Rex . The plot of a tragedyusually consists of a
tragic hero s fall from grace. Aristotle describes plot in two ways a simple plot and a complex one.

Oedipus flaw is he does not know who he is this ignorance leads to him bringing about his own
downfall. Next on the list of elements of a drama is thought. The element thought is used to
support character and is evident in the speeches of the characters (Aristotle). These speeches
reveal the thoughts and feelings of the character; further allowing the reader to develop a
relationship with the character. In Oedipus Rex thought is illustrated in the speech Oedipus
makes when he realizes the truth about his situations. Language, or diction, is fourth on the list
of a tragedy major points. Aristotle points out that metaphors are the most useful form of
language in a tragedy. The main metaphor portrayed in Oedipus Rex is that of sight and
blindness. The king things he sees all but in reality he is blind to the truth. Ironically the only
one who can see the truth is the blind seer Teiresias. Oedipus begins the play able to see but is
blind and ends the play blind but able to see. The fifth major point in a tragedy is melody. Melody
involves the chorus of the drama. Aristotle contends that the chorus should not be just be an
intermission but should add to the plot and character of the tragedy (Aristotle). This is exemplified
in Oedipus Rex in lines INSERT BOOK QUOTE. The last and least important element of tragedy
is spectacle. Aristotle rates this last because it

Sample Theme Essay on Amigo Brothers
SAMPLE ESSAY ON THEME The Amigo Brothers, written by Piri Thomas, is a story about a
special friendship between two boys. Antonio and Felix, two seventeen year old boys, have grown
up together and are very close to one another. They do almost everything together. They both dream
of a future in which they will be the lightweight champions of the world, and together they help
each other train regularly. Then a time comes when their friendship is threatened because for the
first time ever, they have to compete against one another in a match. In the end, however, their
relationship survives because both boys value their friendship above their ambitions. Through the
words, thoughts, and actions of Antonio and Felix, the author expresses the... Show more content on

Felix, too, tries to block out his thoughts and feelings about Antonio, but while he is sitting in a
movie theater, his thoughts are so much with Antonio that he keeps imagining Antonio s face on
the movie screen while he, Felix, is punching him out. Both boys are unable to stop thinking about
protecting the other because their relationship is so important to them. Here, again Piri uses the
boys to testify to the value of friendship. Finally, the story s theme is relayed through the final
actions of the boys. During the fight, both are focused on winning the match. Each attacks the other
with full force. The fight becomes so violent that the referee has to pull them apart. After cold water
is poured on both of them, they start to come back to reality. When they realize what has happened
to them, they rush toward each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of
the fight, but when the announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys
leave the ring arm in arm. The reason they leave is that they realize that winning is not what is most
important to them. What they really care about is their friendship. Piri finalizes his theme through
the ultimate actions of the boys. In conclusion, the boys choice to leave

Nature Vs Nurture Research Paper
Nature v. Nurture is the psychological term that questions whether genetic factors or environmental
factors affect human psychological development more. This short essay will cover three main
topics. What does nature vs. nurture mean? The discussion of nature vs. nurture classifications.
Also, the controversy of nature vs. nurture . How much does your DNA control about you? This is
what the nature vs. nurture debate challenges.
What Does Nature vs. Nurture Mean?
Nature refers to the genetic factors that affect our development and influence who we are. It is easy
to observe that the coding of our DNA shapes our physical features, as mentioned above. More

They favour the nature side. Nativists believe that people s behaviour is the result of many years
of evolution and adaptation and that our individual differences stem from the genetics we inherit
from our parents. An example of this nativist theory was theorized by Noam Chomsky. He
proposed that all children are born with an instinct mental capacity to both produce and learn
language. If people are able to inherit the ability to learn language, does this mean that other
behavioural traits and abilities are also inherited? Those in favour of explaining human behaviour
by way of nurture are called empiricists. These empiricists believe that the mind begins as a blank
slate, which is also known as tabula rasa. This notion then explains that our experiences and
memories shape who we are, how we behave, and what our knowledge is by filling the blank slate
during our years of life. Albert Bandura s social learning theory is an example within the empiricist
side of psychology. This theory suggested that people learn by observing the behaviour of others.
In his Bobo doll experiment, it was observed that children could learn aggressive behaviour by
watching adults act aggressively. Was this imitated aggressive behaviour the result of the
environment children were put into, or did they have a genetic predisposition for violence and

Examples Of Moral Truths In Hamlet
Hamlet moral truths Hamlet has shown there are many moral truths that we can pattern our life
after. He has had a difficult life but he has taught many things that we can add to our life and in
this essay, you will see some of those moral truths. Neither a borrower or nor a lender be. For loan
oft loses both itself and friend. And borrowing dulleth edge of husbandry. This above all, to thine
own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
(page 22 Hamlet) He teaches hear that we do not borrow or lend what we have if we do the we
may lose a friend. It can cause problems with you and your friend. Hence, what does it mean to be
true to yourself? Can you fudge really, what you are saying or do you have to be completely honest
with everyone. Including yourself. When you are honest with everyone then you do not have to
worry that you are lying to yourself.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polonius was talking to the Queen and he asked her a few questions that were, Doubt that the sun
doth move: Doubt truth to be a liar, But never doubt I love. (page 44 Hamlet) you may see that he is
asking her to doubt, yet you may think that he is telling her that he does love. He does not say
whom. When we tell people something, we should always tell them the truth, they would not
have to doubt and there would not be any question of being true to our self. Hamlet also shows
that you need to be teachable. He said, That you must teach me. But let me conjure you by the
rights of our fellowship by the consonancy of our youth, by the obligation of our ever preserved
love, and by what more dear a better proposer , can charge you withal, be even and direct with
me, whether you were sent for or not. (page 49 50 Hamlet) He seems to be telling us that you
need to be taught and be taught in a way that is very loving and it may come off very harsh yet
you learn from others even if they are sent to you or

  • 2. Rick And Murty Analysis Rick and Morty is an animated sci fi sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Adult Swim. It follows a cynical, irresponsible, drunken mad scientist named Rick Sanchez and his somewhat naive grandson Morty while they travel through space and between dimensions using Rick s portal gun. It s basically Back to the Future except they travel through the multiverse rather than time (and no one ever awkwardly dates their mom). The science in the show is often just an excuse for some wonderfully geeky humor. Rick and Morty references enough scientific concepts to do dozens of these videos but today we re going to use this show as a vehicle to take a look at quantum mechanics. Be sure to check out the sources, which are in the description... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Geiger counter and tiny bit of some radioactive element are in the room. Within some time, say one day, one of the radioactive element s atoms might decay, or there may be no decay. The Geiger counter can measure whether or not any decay has occurred. If it measures decay, it will release a poison, which will kill the cat. If it doesn t, it won t. The cat may be thought of as simultaneously both alive and dead, a state known as a quantum superposition, as a result of being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur. This thought experiment helps us understand both the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics and the problem that SchrГ¶dinger saw in it. If the Copenhagen interpretation suggests the radioactive material can have simultaneously decayed and not decayed in the sealed environment, then it follows the cat too is both alive and dead until the box is opened. Common sense tells us this is not the case, and SchrГ¶dinger used this to highlight the limits of the Copenhagen interpretation when applied to practical situations. The cat is actually either dead or alive, whether or not it has been observed. In the many worlds interpretation, the cat would be both alive and dead until observed. After that, the universe would split into two timelines. One where cat is alive and another where the cat is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Impacts Of Classical Music In The 20th Century... The twentieth century music composition gave way to more incorporation to music as it was known. It was the time when musical rules could be reinvented, altered and in some cases completely ignored (Hansen, et al 154). This classical music was described by many different works such as, orchestral, solos, operas, concertos, symphonies, chamber music, and many others (Hansen, et al 168). As stated by Hansen, et al, Some musical styles within the modernist movement were impressionism, serialism, minimalism, electronic music, experimental music, and change music (160). All the musical styles were influenced through jazz but it was a moment of breakthrough for all the composers since all rules were ignored. Aaron Copland and Benjamin Britten were two composers of that century that shaped the way twentieth century classical music was viewed. The different elements of classical musical such as melody, harmony, texture, rhythm, timbre, and form are what characterized the twentieth century classical music. First, twentieth century music had taken a different approach than earlier music eras. There were varieties of differences which started from the instruments and the sounds that it produced to the complexity of the textures. The composers used new approaches and ideas to their compositions and broke many rules. The composers used the instruments and electronics to push ideas of serious music into the mainstream (Hansen, et al 169). The twentieth century was known for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Compare And Contrast Langston Hughes And I Hear America... Langston Hughes wrote a poem that some believe is in response to a poem Walt Whitman made. Walt Whitman s poem I hear America Singing is basically a description of the people who made up America at the time. The mothers, the carpenters, the masons, the shoemakers, the wood cutters, etc, were all the different types of people that made up what America, said of the poem. With Langston Hughes s poem I, Too, Sing America , the poem is making a sort of claim that Hughes s and blacks alike also have a right to feel patriotic towards and be a part of America. Both poems are pretty similar to what they re subject is (America), but they are quite different when it comes to what exactly the two poems are mainly focusing on. Hughes s poem builds on top of Whitman s poem in more ways than one. Every single person with their described job in Whitman s poem was said to have been sung loud and strong as to what they were doing when working, meaning that they took pride in how they worked and what kind of work they did. With how there s so many types of people and jobs being talked about in Whitman s poem, you would think it would include the lives of blacks and how they have dealt with all the racism and stuff at the time (later on too). Hughes s poem is a type of add on to Whitman s poem in the way of including the whole of black peopleinto the mix, with many lines in the poem stating things of which overall say that even if you re black you should still be allowed to partake in things and be in an area without any prejudice towards your skin color. Hughes s poem is more of an argument against that of the people (whites) back then who were prejudice against blacks. With the first couple of lines of I, Too, Sing America , the lines mean that even if he is sent to the kitchen when company comes, he ll still laugh and eat well and grow stronger from the experience, not really seeing it as if it were bad but more of a motivation to stop it from happening again. When coming to the lines of Tomorrow, I ll be at the table When company comes. Nobody ll dare Say to me, Eat in the Kitchen, Then , the lines that are given here are just saying that this time around he ll be at the table when the company and no one ... • 6. The Breakfast Club Analysis Don t Skip Breakfast! The Breakfast Club is a timeless movie centered around the very relevant concept of discovering your identity and breaking away from stereotypes. It is about a group of 5 defiant high school students who are all forced to spend their Saturday in detention. The five main characters include Claire (Molly Ringwald) the princess, Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) the brain, Andrew (Emilio Estevez) the jock, Allison (Ally Sheedy) the weirdo, and John Bender (Judd Nelson) the criminal. These students have very different personalities and very little in common or so they think. The five are stuck together under the oppressive authority of Richard Vernon (Paul Gleason) the Principal, who served as a common enemy for the students. Their sole task for that Saturday was to write an essay describing who they are, a question that remained pondered for the duration of the film as The Breakfast Club is an iconic story of self discovery. WHAT WORKED The Breakfast Club did an excellent job of capturing the strife of students as they try and find themselves through their adolescent years. They have all been cast a different stereotype and at the beginning of the movie it is clear that all of the characters have a fairly decent idea of who they think everyone is. Every viewer can relate to at least one of the various stereotypes, and I think your overall enjoyment of the movie will depend on how easily you can identify with one of the characters. • 7. Taking a Closer Look at Non-Government Organizations The Bridgespan Group, a non profit consultancy, conducted a study on the potential of global NGOs.The study found that since 1990 NGOs registered with USAID (United States Agency for International Development) had doubled to 579, and average annual funding has tripled to $50 million and in few cases the annual funding exceeds $1 billion (Queenan et al. 2). Increasingly, NGOs, or Non Governmental Organizations, dominate healthcare aid and interventions. Their overwhelming presence comes with equally charged influence over key societal issues such as dispersal of aid and types of interventions. This has proven to be controversial as some view NGOs as facilitators of empowerment, change, and progress. Others view them as promoting special agendas and interests, plagued with misinformed and poor policy making, and heavy reliance on funding. Aggregation of these trends raises important questions about the efficiency of NGOs and their impact on the regions they serve. Critics charge that increasing neo liberal policies fragment healthcare alternatives in host countries; NGOs may not offer sustainable healthcare intervention programs; and that their objectives and policies often work against the host populations, which reinforce inequalities.NGO is simply a non government organization that is traditionally non profit. However, USAID and other governments do fund NGOs, and there are profit based NGOs. This makes the term more complex and creates confusion; thus, it is necessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Personal Statement For Women Personal Statement Stop studying math so hard, girl. How will math help you? My high school classmate Yijie jeered at me when I told him I wanted to major in mathematics and computer science. Such complex subjects are just not suitable for women. Although Yijie was not an old fashioned person, he insisted that women were inferior in high technology fields. In my country, China, this gender stereotype still affects women s lives, from major placement decision to their career path choice. I strongly oppose this constraining opinion, and firmly believe that women are capable to make great achievements in modern high technology as men do. Therefore, I made up my mind to show people that women can also succeed in mathematics and computer science. I have been committed to mathematics and computing since I was young. My parents are both accountants. They taught me a lot math and computer skills in my childhood. Their love and passion towards math and computing had a huge impact on me. As I went to school, math and computer science immediately attracted me. Its logicality and challenge gave me a deep sense of satisfaction. I enjoyed challenging fixed answers and finding new ways to solve problems. Compared to my peers, I always understood math and computer problems faster and more accurately. Furthermore, I fortunately had a great woman math teacher in my junior high school. As she discovered my devotion and potential in math, she encouraged me to join competitions and ... • 11. Term Limits Should Not Be Beneficial Debate Paper Putting limits on the amount of terms a member of Congress can serve is a highly debated issue. Many people are against term limits. They argue that term limits are unconstitutional and that they infringe on the rights of the American people to choose who they want to represent their states. However, many people also argue that term limits would be beneficial. Term limits would be beneficial because it would put an end to career politicians, give new people a chance to solve the nation s problems, and limit corruption. The founding fathers left nothing about term limits for any political office in the Constitution. George Washington set the precedent for term limits when he retired after two terms in office. Most presidents after him also stopped running after two terms. Franklin Roosevelt was the only president with more than two terms. He ran and was elected four times, though he died in the beginning of his fourth term. After his four terms, the twenty second amendment was passed in 1951. The amendment says that no one should be elected to office more than twice. In 1995, the idea of term limits in Congress was brought to the United States Supreme Court. An article in the Arkansas constitution denied ballot access to any candidate who had already served three terms in the United States Congress. In a case INC versus Thornton, the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional for states to impose restrictions on term limits. While states ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Pharmaceutical Companies and the Availability of Hiv Drugs... 1) Is the monopoly on patented pharmaceuticals warranted? What barrier to entry prevents the re importation into the United States of pharmaceuticals sold at lower prices abroad (say, in Canada)? Pharmaceutical companies try to maintain a monopoly in the early stages of a drug in order to recover R amp;D investment. During this period of exclusivity they will try to make a fair profit. This is not a monopoly in the true sense of the word because this period is limited in time. It is perhaps better to describe it as a limited warranty. There are also other limitations. Pharmaceutical companies in some countries may not respect intellectual property and may copy or produce generic drugs even before the patent expires. An important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The successful products must therefore provide sufficient margins to recover R amp;D costs and to finance future projects. Packaging and transportation will also result in significantly higher costs than say the manufacture of cereal. Another factor for higher margins is the greater risk that pharmaceutical companies take on. It is impossible to tell whether a viable drug that is safe for the public will emerge, and competitors may launch a better drug in the time period between submission and regulatory approval. Because of grey trade, the company may also find its profit margin in high priced markets being eroded. Suggest an approach to the big pharmaceutical company problem of differential pricing in the US, Western Europe, and Japan versus the less developed world. At the moment, differential pricing is the pharmaceutical industry s preferred solution to inadequate financial access to anti retroviral (ARV) therapies for AIDS. Differential pricing permits drugs to be sold cheaply in low income countries, while maintaining high prices in markets like the United States. Symbols In The Bloody Chamber The presentation of gifts is an important aspect of modern day relationships, with the entire fourteenth of February dedicated to the exchange of chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. These presents are meant to serve as tokens of affection; symbolic of the devotion between lovers. However, Angela Carter presents these same gifts as obstacles that mediate the interactions between a couple, often to the detriment of the relationship. The Marquis and his wife in The Bloody Chamber suffer from distorted perceptions, and this is smphasized in the repeated use of mirrors. Around their marital bed, there were mirrors on all the walls, in stately frames of contorted gold (14). Everything that happens in that room is amplified and multiplied, and reflected in the description of contorted gold is the idea of the distortions an image bears when it is mirrored. Their multitude forces his bride to watch as a dozen husbands approach [her] in a dozen mirrors (15). Her actual husband is lost among all the imposters and again, she is forced to see him refracted through the glass. In the same way that her perceptions of her husband are altered, she feels distorted. She states that I seemed reborn in his unreflective eyes, reborn in unfamiliar shapes, which highlights how mediation has corrupted the relationship (20). Within the same story and in direct contrast, the piano tuner Jean Yves is an example of the power of undistorted perceptions. Though he is blind, he does not suffer from the same misinterpretations. When money is made, debts are the first initiative to be paid off. Fixed costs include rent, wages to employees, and equipment needed to produce you good and or service. In for example a Flower shop, the fixed costs would be the rent on the building, the payment of the delivery vans, and employee salaries. The other type of costs is called variable cost. This type of cost is one that is ever changing. Again in a Flower shop the variable costs would be a dozen roses. One week a dozen roses may cost the flower shop five dollars to buy them and then they sell them for forty five dollars. Then the next week the price of the roses my rise by five dollars now costing the flower shop ten so in order for the florist to make the same amount of money as last week he needs to increase his price to the consumer with the increase on price he is paying. The basic main idea of cost is to keep it as low as possible to gain the highest profits. Determining the profit of a business is another major part of management. • 21. My Passion For Criminal Justice For as long as I can remember I ve had a passion for the criminal justice field. I once dreamed about becoming a lawyer until I realized my desire for truly helping individuals master a sense of accomplishment and self worth. Admiring my mother being a licensed clinical social worker for the developmental disabilities population I too wanted to assist individuals with gratifying change through behaviormodification. I later confirm my admiration and desire to assist in a person s self accomplishment working as a teacher aid during the summer of my freshman and sophomore years of high school. It was not only satisfying to see the over flow of joy whenever I helped a child reach a new goal but to know I assisted them to that accomplishment made it all worthwhile. Additionally, holding an interest in criminal justice and human services I found a child advocacy program which fit my desire to gain more knowledge of the law regarding child protection in conjunction to the psychological hardships abuse and neglect have on the child victim and their families. Further into my academic study of child advocacy I grew an intense passion for the psychological aspect of the study, not only for the child victims but for the offenders as well. I speculated the mens rea of child predators, what would make someone commit crimes on children more importantly how could those offenders be educated to correct their unacceptable societal behavior. An Old Man With Enormous Wings, By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Gabriel Garcia Marquez s short story An old man with enormous wings written in 1955 discusses an old man who is found by two villagers named Pelayo and Elisenda in their courtyard. Others like Father Gonzaga think he is someone sent by the devil because he did not understand the language of god or how to greet the minister (452). The doctor thinks he is a human like everyone else but what surprises him more was that why other men didn t have wings like him (455). It may not be easy but we ll get there together. Rosa Parks fought for herself and other people of color to gain equal rights, which not only impacted her generation, but also future societies. It is about a family of five, with two daughters and a son. Their oldest daughter, Kate, got leukemia when she was two years old, and her parents decided to have another child to save her. The newborn baby, Anna, was used to donate blood to Kate. Eventually, when Anna is older she decides to sue her parents for the rights of her own body, when she is told to donate a kidney to her sister. Through the book we also meet the sister s older brother, Jesse, as well as their parents, Brian and Sarah, Anna s lawyer, Campbell, and her guardian ad litem, Julia. Fire is a central theme in the book, and is used as a metaphor in many different ways. First we can read different quotes about fire as we go trough the book. Secondly we hear their father s description of fire on page 141, and lastly how we interpret fire ourselves. There are at least ten quotes about fire in the book. The quote on page 71 is my favorite quote in the book, because I feel that it describes the family s situation, as well as making you read between the lines after a deeper meaning. Throughout the text it is very clear that the author, a young girl, had come from an underprivileged family and faced the issues many families of lower socioeconomic background typically face. In the short storyit is also evident that her gender plays a massive role in damaging her self esteem and confidence, as both the media and the author s social background have continuously portrayed women as weak, powerless figures. Similarly, in The Story of an Hour by Annie Chopin, the protagonist, once again a female figure represented the life of domesticity a womanis expected to hold by society. Although Chopin s story was written in the late 1800s and Barbie Q is a very modern story, both depict the protagonist females as very helpless, incapable figures that trail after the overpowering men. • 31. The Trolley Problem, by Judith Jarvis Thomson The Bystander at the Switch case is a fundamental part of Thomson s argument in Trolley Problem. The basis of her paper is to explain the moral difference between this case, which she deems morally permissible (1398), and the Transplant case, which she deems morally impermissible (1396). In the Bystander at the Switch case, a bystander sees a trolley hurtling towards five workers on the track and has the option of throwing a switch to divert the trolley s path towards only one worker. Thomson finds the Bystander at the Switch case permissible under two conditions: 1)first, that the same threat is diverted from a larger to a smaller group of people, and 2)second, that the means by which this threat is diverted does not in itself... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Thomson does concede that even in the Bystander in the Switch case, the bystander does infringe a right of the one s (1406), but she justifies this by distinguishing the outcome of the action from the means by which the outcome was achieved. In other words: Turning the trolley onto the right hand track is not itself an infringement of a right of anybody s. The agent would do the one no wrong at all if he turned the trolley onto the right hand track, and by some miracle the trolley did not hit him. (Thomson 1409) Technically, this is true for the Mother Son case too. The mother simply has to turn the trolley onto the right hand track like the bystander, and if that does not infringe on any rights in the Bystander case, the same action cannot infringe on someone s rights in the Mother Son case. On the other hand, in the Fat Man case, the agent would actually have to topple the fat man off of the footbridge, by pushing him or purposefully acting to make him fall, which in itself is an infringement of his rights (1410). Though it satisfies both of Thomson s conditions, the Mother Son case is still morally impermissible for reasons apart from the conditions Thomson listed. The Mother Son case is impermissible because of the nature of the relationship between the bystander and the one. A mother has a very important role for her child: she is morally obligated to keep him as safe and healthy as she can. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here s how to gauge when you re taking it a bit too far! Deprivation: Frugality comes from sparing resources while still meeting your basic needs. Being frugal should never mean that you are depriving yourself from the basics, i.e food. When budgeting and determining what changes you re making to your spending habits the most important thing is to make sure your needs are met regardless. However I wanted a challenge so I decided to be Imani Horne the Criminal Attorney. After years of watching intense show downs in the courtroom I thought I d found my calling. I was selected for an internship with Samuel Terry. While attending several murder cases it took one family court case to drive me away from being a Criminal Attorney. The Introduction to Reading Poetry with Mr.Pogue equipped me to understand the poets hidden persona and how to make sense of it. As this was a challenging course I believed I still wanted to embark on this journey. The Foundations of Literary study with Mrs.Barksdale Shaw molded me to decipher all types of works. Nativists believe that people s behaviour is the result of many years of evolution and adaptation and that our individual differences stem from the genetics we inherit from our parents. An example of this nativist theory was theorized by Noam Chomsky. He proposed that all children are born with an instinct mental capacity to both produce and learn language. If people are able to inherit the ability to learn language, does this mean that other behavioural traits and abilities are also inherited? Those in favour of explaining human behaviour by way of nurture are called empiricists. These empiricists believe that the mind begins as a blank slate, which is also known as tabula rasa. This notion then explains that our experiences and memories shape who we are, how we behave, and what our knowledge is by filling the blank slate during our years of life. Albert Bandura s social learning theory is an example within the empiricist side of psychology. This theory suggested that people learn by observing the behaviour of others. In his Bobo doll experiment, it was observed that children could learn aggressive behaviour by watching adults act aggressively. Was this imitated aggressive behaviour the result of the environment children were put into, or did they have a genetic predisposition for violence and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
