Federalist No. 10 Argument
The primary source is Federalist paper No. 10, which is a the first of James Madison s
contributions to the series of essays known as the Federalist Papers. This essay is a highly
regarded paper among the collection. The Federalist No. 10 is merely rhetoric used to rationalize
the benefits of a new system of government, explain how the new union will be constructed and
most crucial to the essay, sway public opinion to support the ratification of the new constitution.
This particular primary source is imperative to understanding the complexity of the United States
government at the time of its birth as well as now. Madison makes an argument that the expansion
of the federal government is necessary to protect liberty against the excess of democracy. The
document reveals the advantages of a Republic and serves as an explanation as to why the U.S.
espouses a Republican form of government and the Constitution. Madison starts perhaps the most
prominent of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the most effective arguments in favor of
the Constitution is the fact that it forms a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As long as there is liberty, different opinions and factions will form. Madison simply wishes to
establish a system in which the detrimental effects of factions on the whole government are
reduced and kept in check. He argues that a pure democracy cannot mitigate the threats of
factions and that only a republic can. He believes that a system of government that allow every
citizen to vote directly for laws is dangerous as common people s decisions are affected by their
self interest, instead he advocates a different form of government in which citizens elect a small
body of representatives who then vote for laws. Madison s trust in a republic is fueled and
bolstered by his lack of confidence in the people s capacity to make well informed

The Breath Of Other People Killed Them
Throughout the eighteenth century great strides were being made in the medical field regarding
the understanding of disease, biology, and public health. With the contributions of scientists,
doctors, and researchers the overall health of the ever growing population in the eighteenth century
began to improve dramatically. By the early nineteen hundreds, life expectancy had risen to about
55 years. The introduction and understanding of antiseptics, sterilization, and etiology and
discoveries of Pasteur, Lister, and Koch invoked a rise against disease which lead to a rise in life
expectancy. All throughout history humans have had to face disease in all of its many different
forms. This forced them to develop many different ways of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine occurred in the late eighteenth with the discovery of
Louis Pasteur and his experiments regarding the growth of bacteria and their ability to travel from
place to place. After countless years of research and analyzation, Pasteur used his findings to
develop pasteurization (Haigh). Pasteurization is a process which involves heating certain liquids to
kill bacteria and prevent fermentation. Pasteur also developed an anthrax vaccine along with a way
to weaken the effects of the rabies virus. Using the work of Pasteur another scientist by the name of
Joseph Lister developed antisepsis, a way of killing disease causing germs. In 1865 before an
operation, Lister cleaned a leg wound with carbolic acid and performed the surgical procedure with
heated instruments, heating the instruments sterilized them (Gieson). The patient in question
would have needed an amputation if it was not for Lister sterilizing medical instruments and the
surgical field. Eventually, Lister incorporated the use of sterilization in all of his surgical
procedures, decreasing the amount of postoperative mortality. The use of antiseptics did not just
reduce postoperative mortality it also helped out in the treatment of wounds and making childbirth
a less risky process for both women and their children.
Another scientist that lead to great reform in the medical community, science, and public health

Voter Registration System Pros And Cons
officials by electronic devises. Those changes do not come out of air. Instead, they are build on the
existing policies undertaken by states and local officials.
Though the automatic system is implemented by states, federal actions play an important role in
dissolving the institutional barriers. To be more precise, Congress will have to establish a national
standard, which could ensure that all eligible voters will be registered no matter where they live
and no mater where they will move to. Further, given that states have the final say in whether or not
they put the automatic registration system into effect, Congress would have to provide federal
funds as incentives to encourage states to adopt the automatic registration system. The following
will exhibit how the innovative system dissolve institutional barriers in details.
1, Protecting interests of minorities
The automatic voter registration is expected to protect minority Americans. Because American
voters will be automatically registered when they interact with government agencies, especially

This system could facilitate voters by sending them emails to inform voters of incoming elections,
thereby reducing possibilities of missing any elections as well as voters. Further, by shifting the
burden of registering from voters to government, the automatic voter registration could simplify the
voting system. One time registering is valid for life unless people choose to opt out. Since
government will keep eyes on the registration to make sure that every eligible voter will be
correctly on voter rolls, there will be less opportunity to see the mismatched information listed
above. In general, the innovative system could be helpful in creating a process that is more
convenient and less error prone, which could make voter rolls more comprehensive and, as a result,

The Importance Of Gun Control
Many people overestimate the term gun control , assuming that this horrific word means that the
government is going to take control of their firearms, and that people will not have the right to
defend themselves. That is however, incorrect. According to US Legal Definitions (para. 1), the
definition of guncontrol is Gun control laws aim to restrict or regulate the sale, purchase, or
possession of firearms through licensing, registration, or identification requirements. In this
definition, it does not say that guns will be confiscated or banned by the government. The process
of gun control allows the government to regulate the sale of firearms to people who may have a
criminal record, are on the no fly list, etc. Citizens of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An issue facing congress is how to classify a firearm as an assault weapon , since banning all semi
automatic weapons would ban most guns in general. In crafting the 1994 ban, lawmakers mainly
focused on 18 specific firearms, as well as certain military type features on guns. Certain models of
AR 15s and AK 47s were banned. Any semiautomatic riflewith a pistol grip and a bayonet mount
was an assault weapon (Plumer, 2012). During the ban, it was illegal to manufacture and sell the
weapons listed above to be used by private citizens. They also regulated magazines, and they
could now carry no more than 10 bullets. While this ban may have had loopholes and flaws, the
statistics show that it had an effect on mass shootings. Putting something in place similar to this
but perhaps more precise and well thought out would help with the overwhelming number of
mass shootings. Not only does there need to be more background checks, but mental health
screenings. While the US may already have these in place, they are fairly short and most are
simply composed of a background check instead of a thorough mental health screening.
According to Maura Ewing, In all but 19 states, private sales do not necessitate a background
check, and therefore do not involve a mental health screening (Ewing, 2017). That means that in
19 out of 50 states, a citizen can legally purchase a firearm via a private sale without being
screened. Licensed gun dealers however, are required to follow the

Murder Is My Business Mystery Research Paper
The Mystery of Detective Novels The detective genre is recognizable by the mystery that it
represents or establishes. Every word of a fiction novel is chosen with a purpose, and that purpose
on a detective novel is to create suspense. The excerpts from The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler,
Murder Is My Business by Lynette Prucha, and Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley, create an
atmosphere of suspense and mystery. Even though they all fit into this category, there are some
differences that make each novel unique. The imagery that the authors offer in the excerpts helps
the reader to distinguish the similarities and the differences. The words that the authors use on their
novel unveil the mystery that every detective novel contains. The authors... Show more content on

In The Big Sleep, Marlowe, a white man, shows his personality as he describes the stained glass
panel that shows a knight in dark armor rescuing a lady who was tied to a tree and the knight
was not really trying to rescue the lady. Marlowe is a knight in his society and as any good
knight, he is very chivalrous not like the dark knight (other ethnicities) on the panel. He says that
he needs to climb up there and help the knight to rescue the lady, showing how chivalrous he
really is and how others need the help of a white man. In Murder Is My Business, Marino is a
lesbian detective with a damsel in distress syndrome. However, she is cautious and smart enough to
know that Mrs. Hunnicut s story smelled as rotten as a bonito left out in the sun, but her attraction
to Mrs. Hunnicut and her syndrome to help everyone drives her to help Mrs. Hunnicut anyway. In
this story the typical white detective is changed, giving a woman the main role and thus the white
people s power. In Devil in a Blue Dress, the detective, Rawlins, is an African American who is
fully aware of the racial discrimination that exists towards African Americans. He is captivated or
even being manipulated by Daphne, a white girl. Changing the detectives ethnicity reveals the
position that their ethnicity represents on

Excerpt From The Book Thief By Torren
Torren treated the priest to a kindly smile but shook his head. I don t see it fit to thank you for

The jailer, a large wart faced man with the disposition of a well kicked wild boar, was never one

the girl cowering in the corner of her too small cell, rape was a constant threat should she be
anything but obedient. She stood, quickly, her head cast at the ground and her hands clasped
before her, the chaffing marks on her wrists where the manacles dug in dripping the occasional
speck of congealed blood. Without a word she was unchained from the wall and dragged up the
steps, past the lower, grimmyer parts of the castle, up into the lofty chambers that housed Korvin
and his guests. Raucous laughter spilled from the small dinning hall where Korvin hosted closer
friends and his three generals, a small gathering of unquestioningly loyal men. By now no
instructions were necessary. She was steered to the head of the table where the imposing mass of
the monarch sat swirling a glass of wine and listening to his generals argue while those of more
noble and less military purpose made occasional jokes about their bickering. Without a word she
selected a utensil from the myriad of tools nobility used to process their food, and began tentatively
sampling the platter. If only the bright eyed man had left her a knife, instead of a vague promise of

Analysis Of The Shawshank Redemption
Freedom comes with a price. It may be sacrificing one s life to defend their country or, in this
case, persevering through a series of difficult trials. The Shawshank Redemption, directed by
Frank Darabont, opens with Andy Dufresne being convicted of murdering his wife and her lover
and sent to Shawshank State Penitentiary where he befriends fellow inmate Ellis Red Redding.
Since Andy had experience as a banker, the warden uses him to launder money for him under an

According to Gregor Mendel, he came across two different inheritances laws found in genes:
segregation and independent assortment. Mendel s Law of Segregation states that each individual
gene carries two alleles that segregate each allele into a different gamete during the phase of
meiosis. The offspring have two different alleles coming from each parent that passes one allele
down to their offspring. Mendel s Law of Independent Assortment states during meiosis the alleles
of the two different genes segregate split from each other and sent to the offspring. Mendel s law
cannot be put into every inheritance pattern because it might not be 100 percent reliable. The
purpose of this lab was to develop the understanding of the inheritance patterns using fruit flies,
Drosophila Melanogaster. We chose Drosophila Melanogaster because of the fact that they are
small and are an easy use in the laboratory. As well, they have qualifying characteristics to be able
to use. They are very easy to distinguish the differences between female and males, have a short
life cycle, inexpensive, and understandable traits to be a perfect example. Also, fruit flies produce a
large amount of offspring, which helps us out when finding out pattern of inheritance (Morris and
Cahoon, p. 5). In

Transcendtalism Vs Transcendentalism
One of the biggest problems society faces today is racism. In a Transcendental society, racism
wouldn t exist because they believe we all contain God within us, and therefore are equal and
divine beings, worthy of each other s respect. Transcendentalists also believe we should be
independent in thought. The reasoning for which was stated in 1841, by a founding member of
the Transcendentalist movement Ralph Waldo Emerson when he wrote, Envy is ignorance;
imitation is suicide, (Emerson, ) in his famous essay Self Reliance. His friend and follower
Thoreau said in chapter 18 of his book Walden that each man should, step to the music which he
hears, however measured or far away (Thoreau, 915). Who are we to judge God, and by extension,

He felt Superfluous wealth can buy superfluities only. Money is not required to buy one
necessary of the soul (Thoreau, 917). Thoreau believed in living passionately, with goals and
values in mind, and sucking at the marrow of life. To Thoreau, living in the woods was life,
because it was vibrant, and fulfilling, and everything he did was important and purposeful.
unlike most of us today, who live only in the ruts of tradition and conformity. (Thoreau, ), which
can lead to falling victim to our nation epidemic of depression. It has also become a common
belief in our nation that we are without fault. When we have our pride or dignity insulted, we
attack viciously. Consequently, we train ourselves to never risk insulting anyone by stating our
belief if it is not the popular belief. Emerson thought you should claim your opinions proudly, and
Thoreau felt you need to do something with your opinions. Thoreau said that if we don t do
anything, we are ants, not men. Still we live meanly, like ants; though the fable tells us that we
were long ago changed into men (Thoreau, ). He followed it up by sarcastically calling the census
inaccurate, How many men are there to a square thousand miles in this country? Hardly one (833,
Thoreau). History repeats itself, but in this case, nothing ever changed. Many Americans do not
want to express their opinion, because then they will have to back it up. Thoreau s specific
example is slavery, as he was a strong abolitionist.

Improved Status for Women
CAN CITIES BE SEEN AS ENIGINES OF IMPROVED STATUS AND LIVELIHOODS FOR
WOMEN?
INTRODUCTION
In the past women were seen as nothing more than child bearers and housekeepers, only worthy
of being their husband s servants, unable to be financially independent. However, due to factors
such as the progression of time and the urbanisation of cities it is no longer the case. Cities are
relatively large, dense and permanent human settlements , they also referred to as towns, urban
agglomerations or urban settlements (Beall Fox, 2009: 7). Urbanisation can most simply be
defined as the process of becoming more modernised or urbanised. Because cities are more
modernised than rural areas, cities are then seen as great points for accessing opportunities that
will lead to a more improved standard of living. Within this essay the question of whether cities
enable the status and livelihoods of women to be improved will be answered, as well as the factors
that come with urbanisation (being: poverty and vulnerability) will be highlighted (from Cities and
Development prescribed book Chapter 4).
STATUS OF WOMEN
Status is a phenomenon that emerges from school organisation, through the processes of
differentiation and evaluation, rather than as an outgrowth of intrinsic or natural characteristics of
persons (Bradley Khor, 1993: 384). Unfortunately with that said, the institutions that exist within
society tend to evaluate and differentiate on the basis of sex which then constructs a sense

When I first started creative writing, I knew only two things about the teacher: she had purple

put our desks in a circle. It was right then and there that I wondered what the heck I had gotten

My creative writing teacher is by far the teacher who has had the most impact on my life. She is a

Essay on Solving HealthCare’s eMail Security Problem
Solving HealthCare s eMail Security Problem
Abstract
While healthcare organizations have come to depend heavily on electronic mail, they do so without
a significant email security infrastructure. New Federal law and regulation place new obligations on
the organizations to either secure their email systems or drastically restrict their use. This paper
discusses email security in a healthcare context. The paper considers and recommends solutions to
the healthcare organization s problem in securing its mail. Because email encryption will soon be a
categorical requirement for healthcare organizations, email encryption is discussed in some detail.
The paper describes details and benefits of domain level encryption model and considers how PKI

Although these security standards have not yet been finalized, in August of 1998, HHS did
publish in 45 CFR Part 142 a proposal for that Security Standard. That Notice of
Proposed Rule Making did include a number of specific security implementation features.
Particularly relevant to email use is a specification for encryption of health information
communicated over any network for which the transmitter cannot control access (45 CFR Part
142.308[d][1][ii]). This restriction clearly is intended to apply to the healthcare organization s
Internet bound electronic mail.
This paper broadly outlines steps that healthcare organizations can take to ensure the security of
their electronic mail use. A substantial portion of this activity has a Security
101 aspect to it. Healthcare organizations are generally exposed to the same Internet borne threats
as any other type organization. As a result, healthcare organizations do well to follow the general
recommendations for email security provided in documents such as NIST s Guidelines for
Electronic Mail Security . Healthcare organizations do have business imperatives and legal
obligations, however, that may encumber routine application of email security best practice.
Therefore, this paper will provide a healthcare industry context to its discussion of electronic mail
security.
Risks Associated with Electronic Mail Use
Generally speaking there are three classes of email related risk that

I.According to the website article, Acute vs. Chronic Stress, there are two different kinds of stress
that we will potentially face in our lifetime
A. Short term (Chronic) 1.Short term stress is the most common type that we face and are the little
everyday things. This is experienced when specific events or situations that involve novelty,
unpredictability, a threat to the ego, and leave us with a poor sense of control. (Acute vs. Chronic

Project on Settlement of Grievance
1.1 INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY
A grievance is a complaint formally stated in writing. Management should be concerned with both
complaints and grievances, because both indicate potential problems within the workforce. A
grievance is a sign of the employee s discontent with the job and its nature. Grievance is caused due
to the difference between employee expectation and management practice, so management should
take a great consideration while dealing with grievance for the smooth functioning of the
organization.
A grievance is a sign of an employee s discontentment with his job or her relationship with his
colleagues. Grievance generally arises out of the day to day working relations in an organization.

While giving Ayurvedic treatment to a person to cure a particular disease, the physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual well being is taken into consideration. The best part of acquiring an
Ayurvedic treatment is that if the prescribed doses of medicine are taken, the diseases can be
cured in the most effect way. The Ayurvedic medicines generally come in the form of powders,
tablets, decoctions, and medicated oils, that are prepared from natural herbs, plants and minerals. In
addition, the diseases treated and cured by Ayurvedic medicines do not cause any side effects.
According to Ayurveda, the structural aspect of every individual is made up of five elements
earth, water, fire, air and space. The functional aspect of the body is governed by three biological

certain amount of mechanization is inevitably used for large scale production. The beauty of the

Why We Need To Understand Science Carl Sagan Analysis
In Why We Need to Understand Science , Carl Sagan argues the possible reasons why Americans
confuse pseudo science and real science and discusses effects of this phenomenon. According to
Merriam Webster, pseudoscience is defined as a system of theories, assumptions, and methods
erroneously regarded as scientific . It is erroneous to equate a pseudo sciencelike astrology to a real
science like astronomy because astrology lacks the empirical data necessary to define it as a

is dependent on science and technology for everything from global warming to homeland security

primary activities that AVID uses to promote readiness is tutorials which are study groups that use
specific methods that are better correlated with science and mathematics since these are the subjects
that students have more difficulties with. AVID`s promotion of STEM becomes especially clear
when one observes the program in California because the state s public institutions are focused on
these fields. San Bernardino County in California even stated on its community indicator report that
In the AVID 2013 graduating class, 87% of seniors had been accepted to at least one four year
college or university (17) which means that many students were competitive enough in STEM fields
to compete with their international

Agatha Christie s Witness for the Prosecution Essay
This paper will present a compare and contrast of the short story, Witness for the Prosecution to the
screenplay of the same name written by Agatha Christie. The focus of the similarities and
differences will be, a review of the characters and the story.
In both versions there are both likable and unlikable characters that create a gripping tale where
you find yourself hoping young Leonard Vole will beat the overwhelming odds stacked against
him. Vole has been accused of murdering the late Mrs. Finch and in both he is represented by the
defense attorney, Mr. Mayherne (changed later in the screenplay to Mayhew). However, in the
screenplay Mayherne is the assistant of Sir Wilfrid Robarts, Q.C. Sir Robarts plays a foremost roll in

Leonard, the accused, Mayherne the defense lawyer, Romaine the wife of the accused, the deceased
Mrs. Finch and her maid Janet MacKenzie all play chief rolls in Christie s creation; however, it is
Sir Robarts who is the most notable addition.
While the characters, are mostly the same, with the addition of some others, their parts in the
story differ as much as does the ending of both. Leonard again is the accused, and Mayherne his
defense, but Mayherne acts as a bit of a detective in the story and does little in the way of sleuthing
in the play. The old woman, Mrs. Finch, while saved from a speeding bus by Loenard in both
accounts, is later reunited with her savior at a party in the short story and in the play she finds him
at the theater. None of this really impacts either story because in both instances her only purpose
for being in the story is so she can fulfill the role in the classic style of all who done its by being
the one who gets bludgeoned to death. In both cases, Leonard s wife plays the evil woman out to
do in her husband and lie about his whereabouts the night of the murder. Mayherne interviews
Romaine at her home in the original, but in the play she meets Mayherne and Sir Robarts at their
office early in the play. When Romaine learns she is Leonard s only alibi, she leads Mayherne and
Robarts to believe that she intendeds to sabotage her husband s defense. However, while Romaine

13th Century American Renaissance Humanism
While the 12th and 13th centuries were periods of expansion in economic, social, intellectual,
and religious fronts, the 14th and 15th century were marked by almost uninterrupted warfare,
plague, and depression. However, the one and only area of life that did not diminish at all was
culture. To the contrary, cultural life (especially writing) did not slow down. It began expanding
in the 11th century and never stopped, even though the troubled religious and economic scenario
of the 1500s. During this time a poet by the name of Petrarch wrote many letters where he would
communicate with a long dead Roman philosopher and friend Cicero. In these letters, Cicero
would write back to him . Petrarch was careful enough to maintain Cicero s own style of writing
whenever it was Cicero s turn to write , almost in an attempt to revive the Greek style of thinking.
For this reason, Petrarch is considered being at the forefront of Renaissancehumanism. Renaissance
humanism was an intellectual movement based on the study of the Classical literary works of
Greece and Rome (Spielvogel 344). This period was a blooming time in art and thought that took
over Europein the 1500s. This revolution in thinking consisted of a revived... Show more content on

By the time More was writing, Humanism had become the ideal culture of the elite of all of

The House of Mirth Essay
The House of Mirth Lily and Selden are on a walk together, Lily having broken her second
planned meeting with Percy Gryce in order to see Selden. The excuse she gave Gryce was that
she had a headache that first prevented her from going to church and second from going on a
walk with him. She instead convinces him to join the other guests and go to the Van Osburgh
home in Peekskill. Selden tells Lily that he views everything she does as having been
premeditated. She disagrees, saying she is impulsive, but Selden argues that her genius is being
able to convert impulse into intentions. They discuss the freedom that Selden enjoys, and he admits

society. It allows him to find fault with everyone in order to exclude them, and is one of the
reasons he will not marry. Lily tells him, It is a close corporation, and you create arbitrary
objections in order to keep people out (75). In this sense Selden is the ideal man to be the
observer in the novel since his perceptions will not be corrupted by Lily s influence. Another
feature that Selden brings into the novel is that of being amphibious, that is, being able to live
with the elite and also with the working classes. I have tried to remain amphibious. Selden is in
fact the only man who works in the novel, and his ability to live in both worlds is symbolic of
the role of the bachelor in the society. As Lily pointed out earlier, she would never be allowed
the pleasure of living alone and still maintaining her societal position. Once again the intimacy of
the cigarette is shared with Selden, but now the cigarette is used to show casual friendship rather
than sexual desire or marriage intrigue. This cigarette puts the final rejection on Mr. Gryce, for
not only is Lily avoiding a walk with him, but she is also committing what he considers to be a
vice. Book I, Chapter 7 Mrs. Trenor admonishes Lily for spending time with Selden. It turns out that

How Did Joan Of Arc Save France
Did Joan of Arc receive messages from God to save France, or was she a schizophrenic that just
wanted to gain followers and power? Although she expelled France s enemies, like she said she
would, later in her life she admitted to lying about hearing voices from God which ended up
getting her killed. Joan of Arc accomplished various acts of bravery from: dressing like a man to
get passed enemy lines, to defeating the Anglo Burgundians, to confessing that she had never heard
voices in the first place. She became one of the most notable crusaders during the Hundred Years

Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in DomrГ©my, France, to a poverty stricken family. Life for her
family was challenging, Joan never even got a proper education, but her mother still made sure to
instill a love for Catholicism in her. During this time, there was a large conflict between France
and England, now known as the Hundred Years War. When Joan was 13, the Anglo Burgundians,
from England, invaded her village and forced her family, and several other families to leave. At

Barbaric Nomads Analysis
There are many ancient sources stating that the Huns themselves were barbaric nomads. Ammianus
Marcellinus, a Roman writer states in the History of Rome, that The nation of the Huns surpasses
all other barbarians in wildness of life... They fight in no regular order of battle... It must be owned
that they are the most terrible of warriors because they fight at a distance with missile weapons
having sharpened bones admirably fastened to the shaft. When in close combat with swords, they
fight without regard to their own safety . Marcellinus sees how the Hunsfighting style is
completely different to that of the Romans and therefore finds it to be extremely terrible. The
exaggerated language and bias of this piece is clear and as a Roman writer,... Show more content on

For example, Jordanes, a 6th Century Roman bureaucrat, describes how [Attila] was indeed a
lover of war, yet restrained in action; mighty in counsel, gracious to suppliants, and lenient to

wealth as Priscus explains how Attila ate nothing but meat on a wooden trencher... his cup was of
wood, while to the guests were given goblets of gold and silver. His dress, too, was quite simple,
affecting only to be clean. The sword he carried at his side, the latchets of his Scythian shoes, and
the bridle of his horse were not adorned, like those of the other Scythians, with gold or gems or
anything costly . Both of these accounts document how humble Attila could be, Huns valued gold,
and would often brag about their wealth, but, as these two accounts document, Attila acted
modestly about his wealth. Furthermore, Priscus observed Attila with his son and noted a

Racism In Warriors DonT Cry By Melba Patillo Beals
In the 1950s to the 1960s, there were 3,959 lynching of black men, women and children, the
brutal deaths took place in only 12 states in the south of America. All of which were mainly
because of racism. Melba Pattilo Beals wrote Warriors Don t Cry to share her experience of
racism when integrating into Central High. This book is to show the harsh reality of the
suffering African Americans had to go through when battling racism. It shows that you should
do what is right even if it is against society s standards. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, the
importance of historical events greatly impacts the course of the story and the lives of the
people in it. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, written by Melba Patillo Beals, it first begins off
with the U.S Supreme court ruling the segregation of schools to be unconstitutional. Three years
later, there were 517 African Americans eligible to attend Central High School, of them only
eighty expressed interest in wanting to do so. After that, of those eighty kids only 17 were sent to
the first of Central High School. Two days later the students from Little Rock try to enter their
new school, but are turned away by the national guard. Not until September 1960, did the NAACP,
with its tenacious legal work, force Central High to open to integration once more but only two
black students were permitted entry (Warriors Don t Cry, Beals, 220) In the 1960s through the
1970s racism was a usual custom society, many people were racist while

Public Administration Ethics
The roll of ethics in public administration is based on the administration; administrators should be
value free when they implement public policy. I will discuss why ethics should be based on the
administration and, why it should not be based on each individual worker in the administration. I
will discuss Weber s stance on values in bureaucratic organizations, what Macintyre suggests, and
what Hummel and Goodsell would conclude about values in public administration. Most people do
not understand what an administration deals with everyday on an individual basis. They might
think that an administration is supposed to make the best ethical choices, but that is not the case.
People who are outside the administration might think that administrators are supposed to use
everyday values when implementing policy, but that is also not the case.
Ethics are the rules that define moral conduct according to the ideology of a specific group.
Moreover, ethics in public administration are important for good business conduct based on the
needs of a specific town, state or country. Ethics provide accountability between the public and the
administration. Adhering to a code of ethics ensures that the public receives what it needs in a fair
manner. It also gives the administration guidelines for integrity in their operations. That integrity, in
turn, helps foster the trust of the community. By creating this atmosphere of trust, the
administration helps the public understand that they are working with their best interests in mind.
The roll that ethics plays in public administration is based on each individual administration. An
administration is a business after all and it has to make money to survive in the business world. If
all the businesses in public administration based ethics on each individual worker than his or her
administration would not survive. Imagine if you were an individual working for the state dealing
with welfare for a citizen. You know that the citizen needs more money than the federal government
is giving, but you can only give out the amount of money that is allowed by the government. Well
if one employee gives out extra money to one citizen and other employee does the same thing than
the state will be

The Colossus and Daddy by Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath is one of the greatest poets of all time the queen of confessional poetry. Her writing
is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one way. Sylvia Plath herself was
complicated, and she struggled with her own personal hardships up until the day she took her own
life. Plath s father passed when she was only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only
though the rest of her childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems,
such as The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father.
Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot only be
interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or even understand through
her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The Colossus, a poem widely believed to
stem from her own experiences with death and depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery
that exposes the pain of living forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large
statue. A colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of
the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was considered one of the tallest
statues during that time. The speaker of Sylvia s poem tries to put together a man, whether it be her
father or not, to understand him. She considers him a monument, a colossus, an ancient wonder of
the world that holds power

Theme Of Mrs Dalloway
5.Clarissa s Decision of Marriage For women, marriage often serves to secure a position in the
society, independent of their own personal attributes like talents, abilities and even beauty.
Marriage is definitely one of the most basic and essential concerns that women are enormously
engaged with. Virginia Woolf writes Mrs. Dalloway in order to reveal the truth of life,
especially the life of the married women. She aims to capture the realities and the struggles of
her characters in their society. In Mrs. Dalloway, Clarissa made her decision to refuse Peter

Anolis Lizards Essay
Ecological Speciation in Anolis Lizards
Adaptive radiation of different organisms have occurred throughout geological time through the
filling of ecological niches. Organisms different from one another are capable of radiating greatly,
as they evolve traits that allow them to thrive better in their environment. The Anolis lizards of the
Caribbean islands are a great example of a single genus to have radiated not once, but multiple times
through very similar mechanisms. Different populations of the Anolis phenotypically vary in their
morphological traits to facilitate adaptation to particular niches. These phenotypic variations have
evolved in convergence in more than one occasion, as recently discovered fossil specimens show
similar patterns in morphology to modern Anolis.
Anolis as a Model Organism. Anolis is a primary example used in evolutionary studies in
diversification. Nicholson et al. (2005) show that their existence on the islands has resulted from
single colonization events (p. 935). After a population settles on an island, the lizards begin to
specialize in habitats and fill unoccupied niches. Subpopulations that correspond to each niche ...

As seen with Anolis, single species of organisms have the ability to undergo adaptive radiation and
become new species by filling niches in a given environment. This is prevalent not only in Anolis,
but other model organisms as well, such as finches, sticklebacks, and cichlids. All of these
organisms have gone through the similar mechanisms and processes to evolve into different
species. Alike to Anolis, they have gone through reproductive isolation, adaptation, and convergent
evolution. Due to a poor fossil record of Anolis, the other model organisms may give better outlook
on how they have diverged overtime. Further investigations on all of these organisms and their
evolutionary mechanisms would not only give better a better idea of ecological speciation, but

Since the beginning years of American history and basically every other country has been kept

Nada In A Clean Well Lighted Place
Nada , is a term introduced in Ernest Hemingway s story, A Clean Well Lighted Place . The
concept of Nada has many interpretations but some images are more essential than others. Not
only is imagery important but the most important part is characterization. Most of the imagery
is present and put upon the old man. This is because Hemingway uses his personal experiences
and portrays them in his stories. He interprets them well, as the reader directly understands the
difficulties and struggles of his past experiences. Because of Ernest Hemingway s rough
childhood and raising, Hemingway s viewpoint of the soul is displayed in his images images of
blackness, brightness, nothingness, and quietness or peacefulness. In A Clean Well Lighted
Place , Ernest Hemingway shares the concept of nada . He proves this concept with the idea of
blackness. The repetition of the old man sitting in the shadow (Hemingway 175), implies that the
old man was empty and feels separated from the rest of everything that s around him. The same
thing applies for the old mans deafness. He isn t just deaf but isolated from the rest of his
surroundings. These images imply the intensity of darkness. The older waiter is suffering true
depression. The only thing that keeps him alive is the business of his job. This is why he is one of...

Family Capitalism And The 19th Century
Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member,
although it is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long
lasting, they usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993).
Since the early 20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and
twenty companies in countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the
beginning of the 21st Century, only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of
listed corporate assets; and in Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies.
However on the other hand, there was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms
in the United Kingdom (James, 2008). The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a
typical family capitalism in the 19th Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family
capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs that made them different from other family firms; they
also had a different organisation structure and management style; and they lasted longer than the
other family firms at that time. This essay is structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker
belief and how it made Cadbury different from other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s
organisation structure and management style; and finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury
and compare it with another family firm.

Therefore, they do not require testing before marketing. However, my contention is dietary

personal experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death, or serious injury, or other
threat to one s physical integrity or witnessing an event that involves death, injury, or threat to the
physical integrity of another person. Trauma can also be caused by learning about unexpected or
violent death, serious harm, or threat of death or injury experienced by a family member or other
close associate. Current studies show that currently deployed US Service members are exposed to
more trauma than average Americans.
PTSD is one of the most debilitating psychological conditions affecting service members and
veterans. PTSD is the most prevalent mental disorder arising from combat, but it can also strike
military men and women deployed in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian missions, responding to
acts of terrorism, caught up in training accidents, or victimized by sexual trauma. The burden of
PTSD may be transient or long lasting. The response to psychological trauma is probably as old as
human nature, but the diagnosis of a traumatic stress disorder is among the newest in current
diagnostic classification systems.
The PTSD diagnosis first appeared in DSM III in 1980. Prior to 1980, PTSD was not recognized
as a mental illness. The change came largely due to efforts of Vietnam Veteran supporters.

Summary Of Kafka s In The Penal Colony
Kafka s In the Penal Colony chronicles a colony s justice system, from the point of view of an
outsider. Through the narrative, the reader is able to witness several oddities in the way that justice
is carried out. In the Penal Colony compares to Duff and Garland s Introduction: Thinking about
Punishment, the versus surrounding the trial of Jesus, and the story of the deluge in the normative
issues of crime, punishment , and justice that it brings to light. In Kafka s In the Penal Colony, the
officer is presented as a character who has a deep devotion to the apparatus, and its ability to exact
justice. The officer is fixated on punishment, never questioning whether or not punishment must
follow a crime. The officer s character encompasses the thinking that crime and punishment
undoubtedly go together. Duff and Garland s introduction to Thinking about Punishment raise this
issue, that our common patterns of thought lead us to link crime with punishment in an apparently
obvious and natural way;...there is reason to doubt that the two concepts need always be combined
in this manner. Duff and Garland challenge the normative thinking of crime and punishment. In
contrast, the officer barrels through with his fixation on the right type of punishment, the
contemplation of the institution of punishment absent from his mind. Furthermore, In the Penal
Colonypresents issues as to the nature of a crime . In In the Penal Colony, the condemned man,
once a soldier, is

Wiesel Vs Vilkas
War loves to seek its victims in the young, Sophocles. When you read the novels Night, by Elie
Wiesel, and Between Shades of Gray, by Ruta Sepetys, you may ponder and realize the true
meaning of that quote. Eluding the fact that the children weren t targeted directly, wars and
disputes between countries, or in a country itself, can tear up every citizen in said location.
Although the stories of Elie Wieseland Lina Vilkas are similar in the pain they endured, there were
some differences such as: the camps in which they were relocated, the reason they were both sent
away, and the people they were left to be with in the camps, as well as their purpose there.
As stated earlier, Wiesel and Vilkas have gone through some of the same pains.

Electronic Health Record Article Summary
Geyer, Sherree. (2016). Rethinking clinical documentation for the EHR era. Healthcare IT News,
In this article, Sherree Geyer analyzes how clinical documentation in this EHR (electronic health
record) era is affecting care, and what that means moving forward. Geyer takes a look into what is
at the core of the problem that has physicians not connecting the dots on clinical documentation.
She also addresses what can be done to ease the situation as we move forward in this EHR era.
The article discusses a recent study by Annals of Internal Medicine that showed physicians spend 37
percent of their time on clinical documentation in their electronic health records. This was attributed
to the fact that a number of people have use for clinical documentation in ... Show more content on

The one issue not addressed in this article is the fact that at this stage in EHRs most of those
responsible for developing EHRs are people not familiar with healthcare, so they don t quiet have
the understanding of what is necessary. There is no denying how critical clinical documentation is
to healthcare. According to Health Information Management Technology: An Applied Approach
(pg120), the documentation found in health records is crucial as evidence of services provided and
the quality of those services. This has become so important that many healthcare setting have
initiated clinical documentation improvement programs. With a growing and ageing population in
need of quality healthcare, timely and accurate clinical documentation is critical to a successful
healthcare system. However, I think it is important for everyone to remember that these things
take time, as stated in the article we re still in the early days of EHRs, so as time goes on these
problems are sure to get

Clem Miniver Short Story Essay
This film took me on an emotional rollercoaster. From beginning to end the film shook me up
and kept me on my toes. I decided not to look up the movie before hand so I wouldn t expect
anything or see things coming. I can honestly say I was invested the entire time. The story was
phenomenal and the filming was superb. I thought I was going to dislike this film but its now in
my top 20. The film is set in 1939 in a small town in London, during World War Two. They live
on the river in a beautiful huge house. The main family is the Miniver family. Which consist of
Mr. and Mrs. Kay and Clem Miniver, and there three children Toby, Judy and the oldest Vin as
well as a cat Napoleon. They also have hired help Gladys and Ada. The film begins with
Mrs.Miniver purchasing a hat and Mr.Miniver purchasing a new car. Neither one want to tell the
other about there expensive purchase but as the day progresses they confide in each other. After all
what is money (Mr.Miniver, movie). Mrs. Miniveralso has a rose named after her by Mr.Ballard.
Then there son Vin comes home from school and talks about all he s learned. There neighbor
Carol come over and you can tell she and Vin have chemistry right off the bat, Carol and Vin
banter. Carol points out that he need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk then Vin storms off like
a child.
One thing that threw me off was the fact that at the end of the dancing scene they played the song
My country, `Tis of Thee . It turns out, that its not

  • 2. Federalist No. 10 Argument The primary source is Federalist paper No. 10, which is a the first of James Madison s contributions to the series of essays known as the Federalist Papers. This essay is a highly regarded paper among the collection. The Federalist No. 10 is merely rhetoric used to rationalize the benefits of a new system of government, explain how the new union will be constructed and most crucial to the essay, sway public opinion to support the ratification of the new constitution. This particular primary source is imperative to understanding the complexity of the United States government at the time of its birth as well as now. Madison makes an argument that the expansion of the federal government is necessary to protect liberty against the excess of democracy. The document reveals the advantages of a Republic and serves as an explanation as to why the U.S. espouses a Republican form of government and the Constitution. Madison starts perhaps the most prominent of the Federalist papers by stating that one of the most effective arguments in favor of the Constitution is the fact that it forms a... Madison simply wishes to establish a system in which the detrimental effects of factions on the whole government are reduced and kept in check. He argues that a pure democracy cannot mitigate the threats of factions and that only a republic can. He believes that a system of government that allow every citizen to vote directly for laws is dangerous as common people s decisions are affected by their self interest, instead he advocates a different form of government in which citizens elect a small body of representatives who then vote for laws. With the contributions of scientists, doctors, and researchers the overall health of the ever growing population in the eighteenth century began to improve dramatically. By the early nineteen hundreds, life expectancy had risen to about 55 years. The introduction and understanding of antiseptics, sterilization, and etiology and discoveries of Pasteur, Lister, and Koch invoked a rise against disease which lead to a rise in life expectancy. One of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine occurred in the late eighteenth with the discovery of Louis Pasteur and his experiments regarding the growth of bacteria and their ability to travel from place to place. After countless years of research and analyzation, Pasteur used his findings to develop pasteurization (Haigh). Pasteurization is a process which involves heating certain liquids to kill bacteria and prevent fermentation. Pasteur also developed an anthrax vaccine along with a way to weaken the effects of the rabies virus. Using the work of Pasteur another scientist by the name of Joseph Lister developed antisepsis, a way of killing disease causing germs. In 1865 before an operation, Lister cleaned a leg wound with carbolic acid and performed the surgical procedure with heated instruments, heating the instruments sterilized them (Gieson). The patient in question would have needed an amputation if it was not for Lister sterilizing medical instruments and the surgical field. Eventually, Lister incorporated the use of sterilization in all of his surgical procedures, decreasing the amount of postoperative mortality. The use of antiseptics did not just reduce postoperative mortality it also helped out in the treatment of wounds and making childbirth a less risky process for both women and their children. Instead, they are build on the existing policies undertaken by states and local officials. Though the automatic system is implemented by states, federal actions play an important role in dissolving the institutional barriers. To be more precise, Congress will have to establish a national standard, which could ensure that all eligible voters will be registered no matter where they live and no mater where they will move to. Further, given that states have the final say in whether or not they put the automatic registration system into effect, Congress would have to provide federal funds as incentives to encourage states to adopt the automatic registration system. The following will exhibit how the innovative system dissolve institutional barriers in details. 1, Protecting interests of minorities The automatic voter registration is expected to protect minority Americans. The Importance Of Gun Control Many people overestimate the term gun control , assuming that this horrific word means that the government is going to take control of their firearms, and that people will not have the right to defend themselves. That is however, incorrect. According to US Legal Definitions (para. 1), the definition of guncontrol is Gun control laws aim to restrict or regulate the sale, purchase, or possession of firearms through licensing, registration, or identification requirements. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An issue facing congress is how to classify a firearm as an assault weapon , since banning all semi automatic weapons would ban most guns in general. In crafting the 1994 ban, lawmakers mainly focused on 18 specific firearms, as well as certain military type features on guns. Certain models of AR 15s and AK 47s were banned. Any semiautomatic riflewith a pistol grip and a bayonet mount was an assault weapon (Plumer, 2012). During the ban, it was illegal to manufacture and sell the weapons listed above to be used by private citizens. They also regulated magazines, and they could now carry no more than 10 bullets. While this ban may have had loopholes and flaws, the statistics show that it had an effect on mass shootings. Putting something in place similar to this but perhaps more precise and well thought out would help with the overwhelming number of mass shootings. Not only does there need to be more background checks, but mental health screenings. While the US may already have these in place, they are fairly short and most are simply composed of a background check instead of a thorough mental health screening. According to Maura Ewing, In all but 19 states, private sales do not necessitate a background check, and therefore do not involve a mental health screening (Ewing, 2017). That means that in 19 out of 50 states, a citizen can legally purchase a firearm via a private sale without being screened. Licensed gun dealers however, are required to follow the ... • 10. Drosophila Melanogaster Lab Summary Documenting independent assortment and genetic linkage In Drosophila melanogaster Marina Gayed BIOL 3251 004 Mr. Matthew Fuller 11 October 2017 Lab Partners Abdelrahman Sedik Aida Abdalla Eriny Saad According to Gregor Mendel, he came across two different inheritances laws found in genes: segregation and independent assortment. Mendel s Law of Segregation states that each individual gene carries two alleles that segregate each allele into a different gamete during the phase of meiosis. The offspring have two different alleles coming from each parent that passes one allele down to their offspring. Mendel s Law of Independent Assortment states during meiosis the alleles of the two different genes segregate split from each other and sent to the offspring. Mendel s law cannot be put into every inheritance pattern because it might not be 100 percent reliable. The purpose of this lab was to develop the understanding of the inheritance patterns using fruit flies, Drosophila Melanogaster. We chose Drosophila Melanogaster because of the fact that they are small and are an easy use in the laboratory. As well, they have qualifying characteristics to be able to use. They are very easy to distinguish the differences between female and males, have a short life cycle, inexpensive, and understandable traits to be a perfect example. Also, fruit flies produce a large amount of offspring, which helps us out when finding out pattern of inheritance (Morris and Cahoon, p. 5). In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Improved Status for Women CAN CITIES BE SEEN AS ENIGINES OF IMPROVED STATUS AND LIVELIHOODS FOR WOMEN? INTRODUCTION In the past women were seen as nothing more than child bearers and housekeepers, only worthy of being their husband s servants, unable to be financially independent. However, due to factors such as the progression of time and the urbanisation of cities it is no longer the case. Cities are relatively large, dense and permanent human settlements , they also referred to as towns, urban agglomerations or urban settlements (Beall Fox, 2009: 7). Urbanisation can most simply be defined as the process of becoming more modernised or urbanised. Because cities are more modernised than rural areas, cities are then seen as great points for accessing opportunities that will lead to a more improved standard of living. Within this essay the question of whether cities enable the status and livelihoods of women to be improved will be answered, as well as the factors that come with urbanisation (being: poverty and vulnerability) will be highlighted (from Cities and Development prescribed book Chapter 4). STATUS OF WOMEN Status is a phenomenon that emerges from school organisation, through the processes of differentiation and evaluation, rather than as an outgrowth of intrinsic or natural characteristics of persons (Bradley Khor, 1993: 384). Unfortunately with that said, the institutions that exist within society tend to evaluate and differentiate on the basis of sex which then constructs a sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the characters, are mostly the same, with the addition of some others, their parts in the story differ as much as does the ending of both. Leonard again is the accused, and Mayherne his defense, but Mayherne acts as a bit of a detective in the story and does little in the way of sleuthing in the play. The old woman, Mrs. Finch, while saved from a speeding bus by Loenard in both accounts, is later reunited with her savior at a party in the short story and in the play she finds him at the theater. However, the one and only area of life that did not diminish at all was culture. To the contrary, cultural life (especially writing) did not slow down. It began expanding in the 11th century and never stopped, even though the troubled religious and economic scenario of the 1500s. During this time a poet by the name of Petrarch wrote many letters where he would communicate with a long dead Roman philosopher and friend Cicero. In these letters, Cicero would write back to him . Petrarch was careful enough to maintain Cicero s own style of writing whenever it was Cicero s turn to write , almost in an attempt to revive the Greek style of thinking. For this reason, Petrarch is considered being at the forefront of Renaissancehumanism. Renaissance humanism was an intellectual movement based on the study of the Classical literary works of Greece and Rome (Spielvogel 344). The excuse she gave Gryce was that she had a headache that first prevented her from going to church and second from going on a walk with him. She instead convinces him to join the other guests and go to the Van Osburgh home in Peekskill. Selden tells Lily that he views everything she does as having been premeditated. In this sense Selden is the ideal man to be the observer in the novel since his perceptions will not be corrupted by Lily s influence. Another feature that Selden brings into the novel is that of being amphibious, that is, being able to live with the elite and also with the working classes. I have tried to remain amphibious. Selden is in fact the only man who works in the novel, and his ability to live in both worlds is symbolic of the role of the bachelor in the society. As Lily pointed out earlier, she would never be allowed the pleasure of living alone and still maintaining her societal position. Once again the intimacy of the cigarette is shared with Selden, but now the cigarette is used to show casual friendship rather than sexual desire or marriage intrigue. This cigarette puts the final rejection on Mr. Gryce, for not only is Lily avoiding a walk with him, but she is also committing what he considers to be a vice. Ammianus Marcellinus, a Roman writer states in the History of Rome, that The nation of the Huns surpasses all other barbarians in wildness of life... They fight in no regular order of battle... It must be owned that they are the most terrible of warriors because they fight at a distance with missile weapons having sharpened bones admirably fastened to the shaft. His dress, too, was quite simple, affecting only to be clean. The sword he carried at his side, the latchets of his Scythian shoes, and the bridle of his horse were not adorned, like those of the other Scythians, with gold or gems or anything costly . Both of these accounts document how humble Attila could be, Huns valued gold, and would often brag about their wealth, but, as these two accounts document, Attila acted modestly about his wealth. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, the importance of historical events greatly impacts the course of the story and the lives of the people in it. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, written by Melba Patillo Beals, it first begins off with the U.S Supreme court ruling the segregation of schools to be unconstitutional. Three years later, there were 517 African Americans eligible to attend Central High School, of them only eighty expressed interest in wanting to do so. After that, of those eighty kids only 17 were sent to the first of Central High School. • 28. Public Administration Ethics The roll of ethics in public administration is based on the administration; administrators should be value free when they implement public policy. I will discuss why ethics should be based on the administration and, why it should not be based on each individual worker in the administration. I will discuss Weber s stance on values in bureaucratic organizations, what Macintyre suggests, and what Hummel and Goodsell would conclude about values in public administration. Most people do not understand what an administration deals with everyday on an individual basis. They might think that an administration is supposed to make the best ethical choices, but that is not the case. People who are outside the administration might think that administrators are supposed to use everyday values when implementing policy, but that is also not the case. Ethics are the rules that define moral conduct according to the ideology of a specific group. Moreover, ethics in public administration are important for good business conduct based on the needs of a specific town, state or country. Ethics provide accountability between the public and the administration. Adhering to a code of ethics ensures that the public receives what it needs in a fair manner. It also gives the administration guidelines for integrity in their operations. That integrity, in turn, helps foster the trust of the community. By creating this atmosphere of trust, the administration helps the public understand that they are working with their best interests in mind. The roll that ethics plays in public administration is based on each individual administration. An administration is a business after all and it has to make money to survive in the business world. If all the businesses in public administration based ethics on each individual worker than his or her administration would not survive. Imagine if you were an individual working for the state dealing with welfare for a citizen. You know that the citizen needs more money than the federal government is giving, but you can only give out the amount of money that is allowed by the government. Her writing is thick with figurative language that cannot be interpreted only one way. Sylvia Plath herself was complicated, and she struggled with her own personal hardships up until the day she took her own life. Plath s father passed when she was only eight, and she struggled with his absence not only though the rest of her childhood but also into adult hood. Many critics believe her famous poems, such as The Colossus and Daddy, were confessional poems Sylvia wrote about her father. Although there are many ties within her poetry to her real father, her writing cannot only be interpreted this way. Sylvia had many demons she likely tried to tackle or even understand through her writing her pain channeling through the speaker. The Colossus, a poem widely believed to stem from her own experiences with death and depression, is a beautiful poem rich with imagery that exposes the pain of living forever in the shadows. The literal definition of colossus means large statue. A colossus can be a statue that represents a deceased person. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, was so grand in size it was considered one of the tallest statues during that time. Marriage is definitely one of the most basic and essential concerns that women are enormously engaged with. Virginia Woolf writes Mrs. Dalloway in order to reveal the truth of life, especially the life of the married women. Organisms different from one another are capable of radiating greatly, as they evolve traits that allow them to thrive better in their environment. The concept of Nada has many interpretations but some images are more essential than others. Not only is imagery important but the most important part is characterization. Most of the imagery is present and put upon the old man. This is because Hemingway uses his personal experiences and portrays them in his stories. He interprets them well, as the reader directly understands the difficulties and struggles of his past experiences. Because of Ernest Hemingway s rough childhood and raising, Hemingway s viewpoint of the soul is displayed in his images images of blackness, brightness, nothingness, and quietness or peacefulness. In A Clean Well Lighted Place , Ernest Hemingway shares the concept of nada . He proves this concept with the idea of blackness. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM IV). It is direct personal experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death, or serious injury, or other threat to one s physical integrity or witnessing an event that involves death, injury, or threat to the physical integrity of another person. Trauma can also be caused by learning about unexpected or violent death, serious harm, or threat of death or injury experienced by a family member or other close associate. Current studies show that currently deployed US Service members are exposed to more trauma than average Americans. PTSD is one of the most debilitating psychological conditions affecting service members and veterans. PTSD is the most prevalent mental disorder arising from combat, but it can also strike military men and women deployed in peacekeeping missions, humanitarian missions, responding to acts of terrorism, caught up in training accidents, or victimized by sexual trauma. The burden of PTSD may be transient or long lasting. The response to psychological trauma is probably as old as human nature, but the diagnosis of a traumatic stress disorder is among the newest in current diagnostic classification systems.
