In Order To Make This Renovation A Reality, Siue Must Choose
In order to make this renovation a reality, SIUE must choose a company or companies to assist in
the renovation. Oberlin college partnered with Smart Hotels, which is a company specializing in
the new wave of campus lodging (Gorce par. 5). This is step one in the process, and proof that
there are companies out there who can help universities change their housing for the better. It took
almost five years to plan the renovation at Oberlin, but since then the company has built three
more complexes have and have six more in the works of being constructed (Gorce par. 15). There
is no sign of stopping Oberlin, and they have truly begun the revolution of something so impacting
for generations of collegestudents to come. This dream could become... Show more content on

You are likely going to start looking at apartment complexes and houses around the area that make
you feel more at home and are way more appealing than what you are currently living in. Not only
are you removing yourself to such quick access to your university and its resources, but now you
are spending your money elsewhere, when it could be going right back to your college if they
would have provided you a more positive experience your first year. I know this because I went
through it. Living in the dorms has not been the greatest experience, and all I can think about is
how I can not wait to get out and live in a more appealing apartment next year. Of course I could
move into an upperclassmen dorm building, or even the on campus apartments, but I definitely
will not be doing that after the campus housing experience my university has provided me this
year. My dorm room and building SCREAM boring and outdated. It has affected me and my
experience so much that I am choosing to spend hundreds of dollars more someplace else just
because I can not stand it anymore. As a result, modernizing and refurbishing dorm rooms on
college campuses across the United States will not only solve the issue of them having a bad
wrap, but will also bring in more revenue for the college because it will attract more prospective
students, and first year students will have a more valuable experience which resulting in them
staying on campus again in the approaching

Stephanie Says- the Velvet Underground Song Analysis
Stephanie Says The Velvet Underground Song Analysis The writer of the song seems to be
talking about a girl who s looking for answers; she s confused and doesn t really know what s
happening around her. Although this is not wrong there seems to be more to this girl Stephanie
than meets the eye. Stephanie feels like she has wasted her life doing what people told her to do
and following others without acknowledging her desires. This girl just wants to be herself but
doesn t know how. She wonders why she is the way she is and knows that she s being foolish but
doesn t know how to stop. She s stuck in a never ending cycle. She watches life go by, feeling like
she is not a part of the world around her. She connects calls but is... Show more content on

She wants to clarify everything, which is what the entire song is actually talking about.
Stephanie is trying to put everything into the light of day and whether she succeeds or not is
left to the listener s imagination with the last sentence that is It s cold in Alaska (Stephanie
says) . This last part is repeated three times in a row. The meaning behind it is that Alaska being
cold is a fact and everyone knows it since they nicknamed her after it but does anyone really
know how cold it gets? They can imagine but can they know for sure the way she does. She says
these lines as she gives up and stops trying to find a way out from the state she s in. The listener
can than only feel her hopelessness and imagine what becomes of her next. The song consists of
a couple of stylistic devices like metaphor. Stephanie is compared to a door using metaphor in
order to create a better image in the listener s mind about her situation. Another one is Stephanie
being compared to Alaska. In the last line which goes as It s so cold in Alaska , does the writer
really talk about the fact that the state of Alaska is cold or might there be a deeper meaning
behind this simple line? I don t believe that there ever is a true or false meaning behind a song,
for songs are especially created so that their meanings differ from people to people. Even if the
writer of a song explains the message behind it, this message will

The Theory Of Swing Kids
Theory Illustrations Swing Kids offers excellent depictions of many persuasion concepts, including
fear appeals, source credibility, and foot in the door/door in the face approaches. It also illustrates
three familiar persuasion theories: Cognitive Dissonance, Social Judgment, and Elaboration
Likelihood (for discussion of these theories, see Gass Seiter, 1999; Griffin, 1997; Larson, 1995;
Woodward DentГіn, 1996). The foUowing is a brief summary of how these three theories are
illustrated by the three primary characters. Cognitive Dissonance. Arvid stands firmly against
values and beliefs that are inhumane and evil. His behaviors are consistent with his attitudes. He
recognizes that even small inconsistencies in behavior can lead to changes in attitudes. He declares,
Anytime you go along with them [the Nazis], you just make it easier for them. Peter begins the
movie with anti Nazi sentiments but becomes confused once he is forced to join the HJ. The more
he engages in HJ activities, the more his attitudes change. In a conversation in the middle in the
movie, he defends the Nazis and puts down his father, reducing the importance of his previous
cognitions. When he comes to his senses near the end of the movie, his monologues suggest that he
has decided to stand by principle rather than reduce his cognitive dissonance by rationalizing his
behavior. Thomas spends much of the movie rationalizing his behavior and overturning his attitudes
and values. He denies volition about

What Is The Most Stressful Out Of Police Work Essay
Police officers face many stressful situations during their job. Most jobs have high rates of stress
but it has been Proven that police work is the most stressful out of all the jobs. There are four
categories of stress that police officers face. These four categories are external, organization,
personal, and operational stress. External stress is produced by real threats and dangers. External
threats happen outside of the office. Some examples of this are gun runs and other dangerous
activities that take part in auto pursuits. Organizational stress is produced by elements within a
quasi military character. This stress comes from within the organization. This can be a constant
adjustment of changing duties, odd working hours, working holidays,

A Report On Uav Traffic Safety
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to review some UAV traffic concerns. UAV traffic is
increasing tremendously over the past decade. There have been a number of mid air collisions
with UAVs crashing into commercial aircraft or into each other. They are big enough to cause
more engine foreign object damage than a bird strike. This is because they are made of stronger
material and plus they have batteries on board that can cause severe damage to aircraft. Air
traffic controllers need to know how many UAVs are operating in their area of responsibility and
know exactly where they are. The FAA has adapted to the some of the new UAV laws, but this
paper will show where they are lacking some rules and regulations involving UAV traffic.
Introduction This paper is going to demonstrate the importance of UAV traffic control. It will
review some previous mid air collisions with both UAVs colliding with each other and with
commercial aircraft. It will include some of the causes like lack of technology to detect UAVs and
other aircraft, air traffic controller centers lacking technology, and the FAA lacking rules and
regulations addressing the UAV population increases. The technology has to communicate back
and forth from the UAV to the operator and back. This can become a problem because of hacking
threats. The main concern of this paper is to propose an efficient and secure air traffic control of
UAVs.
In the article Secure routing in UAV , the three

Crime Against Humanity
A crime against humanity is widespread or systematic attacks against a civilian population. Crimes
against humanity is a problem that has repeated itself through history and is still occurring in the
present world today. How countries, that are in a place of power, should or should not respond to
these crimes is a controversial issue that numerous people differ on opinion. Some argue that
nations should act according to their own national interest and do what is best for their country,
including not doing anything at all. Other s have a belief in which countries that are in a place to
intervene should do so. This could be with a forceful militaristic approach. Any crime against
humanity should not be tolerated in this view. Another opinion is that in crisis situations, a
collective effort by an international community, such as the United Nations, should be the people
who respond and resolve the conflict. This takes out individualizing countries, and creates an
international effort. Over the course of history many diverse actions have been taken in response to
a crime against humanity. Some examples as to why an international community or a country
should intervene with full force and right away are through the Ukraine Famine, the Rwandan
Genocide, and the Armenian Genocide.
What is known as the Ukraine Famine was a crisis in which no outside force responded to help the
Ukrainians. When Stalin rose to power as the leader of the Soviet Union, one of his first actions was

Different Types Of Art Movements Essay
Throughout the years many different types of art movements were being introduced. Some may be
more common to some people while others are not as popular. The Renaissance movement is the
most commonly known by the people. The term Renaissance means rebirth and it was introduced in
the early 14th century. The movement took place in Europe, however, the majority of the
movement began in Italy. There was a northern Renaissanceand a southern Renaissance. In the
northern Renaissance, artists put more effort on the details of their artwork rather than focusing on
making it realistic. The two main themes were individual expression and worldly experience.
During this period, Europeans had the interest in the values of ancient Greece and Rome and
described it as the reawakening of the culture. Therefore, the term Renaissance was used for the
movement. As the movement progressed, it increased political stability, economic growth,
education, and cosmopolitanism. In addition, the study of language, literature, history, and
philosophy began to expand as knowledge increased. As a result, the Renaissance movement can be
described as a great influence on society. Eventually, the Renaissance movement led to humanism
which focused on the unique values of a person. Artists introduced many unique ideas during the
Renaissance movement which became a success to the society.
During the Renaissance movement, Leonardo da Vinci was considered to be the Renaissance man.

The Flint Water Crisis Is A Public Health Emergency
The Flint water crisis was a public health emergency that occurred only an hour from my home. It
is a crisis that involved failures on multiple levels of government, including my state government.
Their failures caused a preventable public health issue to increase in severity until there was
irreversible damage, millions of dollars in recovery costs, and an entire city s health at risk. It is
important to look at the failures of my government and be able to recognize and identify when they
are not performing their duties, so that future crisis such as this can be avoided.

The water supply was officially switched in April of 2014, and shortly after, residents began to
complain about the smell and color of their water. Months after resident s complaints were
essentially ignored, E. coli and coliform bacteria were detected in the water (NPR, 2016).
Residents were advised to boil their water until pipes were flushed and water was treated with
chlorine. The exact same scenario occurred for a second time in September.
In January of 2015, Flint was found to be in violation of the Safe Drinking WaterAct after
disinfection byproducts were detected at alarming rates (NPR, 2016). Water was somehow still
deemed safe for consumption, as the city was very passive in its advisories. Although E. coli,
coliform bacteria, and disinfection byproducts were very serious and harmful substances found in
the water supply, they would not be the main issue.
A month later, tests performed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed that
excessive rates of lead were present in the water supply, rates that far exceeded the EPA s limit
(CNN, 2017). Another test in March indicated even higher levels of lead. A switch back to the
DWSD was proposed and denied following the second test. A lawsuit was also filed against the
city claiming the water to be a health risk, but the case was dismissed.
In June of 2015, the EPA issued a memo regarding the high lead levels in Flint, which was

Battle of Marathon This essay talks about the great...
In 490 B.C.E. the Battle of Marathon was a brief but important event in the war between the Greek
city states and The Persian Empire. The results of the battle had unforeseen effects on Athens and
the future of Western Civilization. The Greek Golden Age , centred in Athens, brought about new
forms of art, the foundations of future philosophy and redirected literature and drama. The
achievements of the Athenians during this period were directly connected to the inspiration and
prestige (which later translated into power) fuelled by the events at Marathon. How the events of a
single day changed the entire course of Western Civilization is hard to fathom but obvious when
one looks at the aftermath of that fateful event.
The revolts of a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The victory at Marathon and the successful defence of the city, gave the Athenians a sense of moral
superiority and pride. In later battles of the Persian War, at Thermopylai and Salamis, the highly
regarded Spartans and those of the Peloponnese were largely in control of strategic moves.
Although still a major force in every battle, Athens and her allies were outnumbered and thus
followed Spartan command. After the second occupation of Athens after the battle of Salamis, the
Athenians gave Sparta an ultimatum due to a lack of Spartan support. If the Peloponnesians
wanted Athens navy, they must save Athens land. Because the Athenians had more damage to
recover from it brought stronger confidence and overall pride for them once the city got back on
its feet. The Spartans, Corinthians and other Peloponnesian allies now had reason to fear Athens
growing naval power and its capabilities now that the city was repaired and invigorated with a
renewed sense of pride. This is the point that we see the beginnings of a shift in the balance of
power and influence between the city states. When the Ionian states adopted the Athenians as
leaders, as opposed to the Spartans who had been pre eminent for a long time, the rise of the
Athenian influence began to show. For the purpose of protecting all Greeks from a further Persian
attack, a league was formed, of which Athens was now the leader. The league included

Waterbed Research Paper
The waterbed, a mattress full of water, but it s not just that it s much more. Well, it s not a lot a
lot more it just is a little more than just a water bed. Right now you might think the water bed is a
boring invention and how could I get enough information for this report but you might actually be
surprised and impressed of what this invention is for and does for other people and how it could
affect people if this invention ( the water bed) was never invented.
It has a kind of a long story, starting 3,000 years ago. According to legend, the first water bed was
made of goat skin and was made 3,000 years ago, but no one actually knows for sure. This is why it
isn t long because if it was 3,000 years ago then it would have a long story, ... Show more content

You might think that the waterbed might not affect the world much if it wasn t invented, but it
would actually affect many people s lives. Well to start it would affect many people s lives
because most people in hospitals that need back pain treatment or have pressure ulcers might
not have a place to actually get treatment for their problems. Then, they would probably have
body pain for a really long time. Well, it was helpful in a way for lots of people and in a way
effected everyone s lives because even the people that sold waterbed would be affected if the
waterbed wasn t invented because they might not even have a job for a living and probably be
poor this very instant.
It is actually better than regular beds in my opinion. I mean it lasts longer, you could control the
temperature, you could fall asleep faster and with less ease I mean what else you want to know so
you can buy one. It probably is in fact better than a regular mattress bed. Both of these are good and
have similarities that can make them both convenient to buy but in the end the waterbed ends up
winning depending in how you see it. Sometimes they can actually kill babies because they drown

Factors for Your Personal Credit Score
In my research I found that three companies are used in the United States as the primary
determiners for credit score. The companies that determine credit score are Experian, TransUnion,
and Equifax. The components I discovered that make up your personal credit score are: Payment
History, Lines of New Credit, How much you owe, and finally length of credit historywith other
factors as well rounding out the table. Payment history makes up the largest percentage at Thirty
Five percent. They use your past behavior in determining what you will do in the future. This is
considered the most important factor in calculating credit scores because if they do not have
data to show how you have performed in the past that might be misleading and could lead to
someone with terrible credit in the past to open many new credit cards. They take into account
the two types of loans, revolving and installment. Revolving loans are the types that always
fluctuate, like opening new charge card accounts. Installments are paid back in portions like if
you have payments to make on a car lease or mortgaging a home. If you default on a loan it is not
always going to result in identical damage to your credit score. The amount of damage to
defaulting is determined by the size of the installment. If you are working on boosting your credit
to a higher rating, you should always pay on or by the due date.
The second biggest component to a credit score is the debt amounts. Debt amounts makes up around

Red # 40 Dyes
In the United States and in most of the world food dyes are exceedingly common. In addition to
this, they have been brought into question as being dangerous for human and environmental health.
From general observation and knowledge about this topic I knew that Red #40 dye (Allura Red
AC) is at the height of this controversy. After some initial research, I discovered more information
on Azo dyes, their effect on the environment, as well as wastewater treatment used to decontaminate
water containing these dyes. This led to my interest on the topic of Electrochemical Advanced
Oxidation Processes (EAOPs) as a fairly recent solution to environmental issues regarding
contaminants in water. I was curious to see how these processes work, as well as... Show more

This is largely because they are relatively cheap and simple to manufacture. Furthermore, they
produce vibrant shades of color and are reasonably soluble in water (Liu, Wan, Nan, n.d.).
However, these dyes are now manufactured at such a large scale that they bring up numerous
health and environmental concerns. In recent years azo dyes, especially Allura Red AC, have
been connected to child hyperactivity, which also raises concerns over other potentially toxic
effects they can have on living organisms ( FDA Probes Link , 2011). This is only amplified by
the fact that azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo Grenadine are also especially recalcitrant to
conventional methods of wastewater treatment. Research on this topic led me to an article on
electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and their potential as a solution to mineralizing
especially recalcitrant compounds in the environment, Decontamination of Wastewaters
Containing Synthetic Organic Dyes by Electrochemical Methods: A Review. This led me to
pursue the investigation in my extended essay on the topic of electrochemical advanced
oxidation processes and the effect they have on azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo
Grenadine. In order to evaluate the effect of this process, I made the decision to do a comparison
of the two dyes. This led me to the question, How does the effect of electrochemical advanced
oxidation processes vary between Allura Red AC and Azo

Reflection On What I Have Learned About Myself And UW-Madison
I hope all is going well back home in small town, rural Wisconsin. I am writing to you the discuss
and reflect upon what I have learned about myself and UW Madison and how I can utilize those
different lessons I ve learned to make the most out of my Wisconsin Experience and eventually
achieve my personal and professional goals. First and foremost, I cannot begin to start with how
radically different this university and the diversity up here is compared to what I am accustomed
to back home. Walking the streets here was definitely a culture shock for me at first. The
different races and beliefs here were almost overwhelming to begin with, especially after one of
our house meetings discussing those topics. Being around only one thousand people my whole
life, who all shared similar beliefs in many ways put a little shell around me. If someone was
slightly different than everyone else, they were judged and sometimes severely bullied for just
being themselves. I am so very thankful for the eye opening that the University of Wisconsin
Madisonhas provided for me. It not only will allow me to see things with a different perspective,
but it will also give me a new appreciation for all walks of life. The history of high academia and
prestigious standings throughout the country was also a bit intimidating at first. It was hard for
me to think that I could make it amongst tens of thousands of other bright individuals, but I am
confident that I am slowly finding my place, my reason for coming to this university. Being able
to be amongst some of the smartest individuals in the United States has humbled me immensely.
Back home, I was considered the smartest of the smart, earning high honors in all academics.
Here, though, I am merely average. But, I am going to be working every day to set myself aside
from others by finding the thing that I truly excel in and what makes me special. I cannot wait to
begin my courses away from gen eds, and start specializing in the Kinesiology field. Overall, I
know that these ideas will help mefind my purpose here at the University of Wisconsin Madison
and what makes me a true badgerat heart. The immense size of this campus has also taught me a
great deal in self advocacy. You know

Effects Of Discrimination Against Tattoos In The Workplace
While tattoos have become more and more acceptable over the years, the question still lies on
whether tattoos or any other kind of body modifications in the workplace should be allowed. It s
beyond easy to make cases showing the negative impacts of discrimination against tattoos and
piercings in the workplace. Plastic surgery, drawing on your eyebrows, getting fake nails, and
coloring your hair are also examples of body modifications. Though not everyone agrees with or
thinks they re beautiful, employees are not told to cover up these modifications. Tattoos and
piercings are purely another form of beautification and what makes each person their own unique
individual. Beauty is personal.
Considered as a form of art for some people and unprofessional for others, tattoos are being seen
as a familiar form of self expression that many of the younger and older generations are getting
nowadays. Tattoos are a form of body modificationalong with piercings, but the majority of
people in the workplace will be forced to cover up their tattoos while people with piercings are
sometimes allowed to keep them in, which causes a form of unnecessary discrimination.
According to Garrett D. Kennedy, Tattoos and body piercings have become increasingly
prevalent in the U.S. over 20% of adults are now tattooed. This number only will be increasing
because 38% of millennials (born from 1981 1992) have tattoos, approximately half of whom have

The Death Of The Funeral Business
Sandy Hingston offers many intriguing views of a funeral service from the conventional method
of a service in a church and the burial of the deceased to a service that more so relates to a party
than a funeral. The Death of the Funeral Business also raises many questions to be pondered by the
reader. Hingston says, A societal changeover from burialto cremationis momentous for our culture.
It signals a cataclysmic shift in how we think about our bodies and ourselves (38). The questions
that arise from this quote are what parallels may Hingston be trying to draw between the trend in
cremation and the way we think about our bodies and ourselves? Why may she be trying to
develop these connections? These are the questions I will be focusing on and how they relate to
what I think the purpose of the article is. I believe the purpose of this article is to show how our
generation is changing the way we view deathand how the use of technology has greatly impacted
the way funerals are done. The question what parallels may Hingston be trying to draw between
the trend in cremation and the way we think about our bodies and ourselves is a pretty loaded
one. The quote, the rise of cremation dovetails neatly with the increase in those of us who have no
religious affiliation (38) answers this question nicely. Without religion, and a sense of my body

Analysis Of A Stolen Life
On June 10th, 1991, eleven year old Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped, while walking to her bus
stop, by Phillip and Nancy Garrido. After using a stun gun and dragging her into their car, the
Garrido s proceeded to take Jaycee towards Anaheim, California. Once there, Jaycee lived in
several rundown buildings in the Garrido s backyard for eighteen long years. It was during that
time that Jaycee suffered multiple accounts of abuse, including sexual and emotional, and gave
birth to two daughters. During her stay at the Garrido s, Jaycee s life was stolen for more than
half of the time she had been breathing. However, in August of 2009, thanks to the help of two
police officers, she was rescued. After the rescue, Jaycee felt that it was important that she
shared her story with other kidnapping, abuse, and rape victims to help them know that they are
not alone and to show others to never lose hope. It is because of her thoughts, that Jaycee wrote
her memoir, aptly titled A Stolen Life, which follows her kidnapping story from her first day
gone, to her recovery after being rescued. Throughout the 268 pages of A Stolen Life, I was on
an emotional roller coaster ride as Jaycee told her story through her young eyes and left no
details out. During one of the very first chapters in the memoir, Jaycee describes the first time
Phillip Garrido raped her. I am so small and he is so big. Why is he doing this? Is this normal? (31)

Cherokee Indian Rights Of Passage Analysis
Rights of passage are a big part in your life and your relatives. There are many rites of passage
and they all differ from each other. The Medicine Bag , The Apache Girl ,and the Cherokee
Indians all have to face their right of passage. The Medicine Bag is about a boy named Martin
who is given a medicine bag as his right of passage. The Apache Girl is about a girl named
Dachina who s rite of passage leads her into womanhood. The Cherokee Indians right of passage
has the boy sit through the night alone in a forest to show that he is a man. These 3 stories have
many similarities and differences in their rites of passage. They also are written in different
formats which makes your understanding of the topic different. The Medicine Bag , The
Apache Girl , and the Cherokee Indians all have very similar rites of passage. They all have to
accomplish something to become a woman or a man in their tribe. The Apache Girl and the
Cherokee Indians both have to show strength and confidence. Dacina has to dance for 10 hours
and the Cherokee Indians have to sit on a log through the night with a blindfold on. This helps
them show that they are strong enough to become a member of the tribe. The Medicine Bag and
the Cherokee Indians also have similar rights of passage because they both don t have to face
their journey alone. During Martin s right of passage his grandpa passes the bag down to him and

of the place where you are now and be put into the battlefield without any sign up sheets. The
anxiety YOU have from the bullets zooming across your face, hoping that YOU would be alive
and in one piece. Doesn t that sound scary to you? This is what military animals have to live by.
They are thrown into training and when they are old enough to be in battle, they don t have the
voice to say a simple No. if they had the choice to be in war. Indeed, military animals have saved
countless amount of lives and have truly change the outcome of war, but is this all worth the
sacrifice? The sacrifice of bringing your best friend that grew a bond with you and have the
chance to die in front of you? Many people will believe that animals should be used in the
modern warfare because history shows that animals like the messenger pigeon has delivered many
messages that soldiers has wrote about the locations of enemy lines. While other people believe
that animals shouldn t be in war because it will traumatize the animal. In this paper I will present
alternative position on the topic of animals that are used in the modern warfare, considering a
variety of perspectives, and concluding with a position on animals that are used in battlefields that
seems most justifiable. Pros of Using Animals in War Yes!

Blythe, S. (2015). Open air preaching as radical street performance: Journal Of European
Baptist Studies, 16(1), 5 26.
This article discusses open air preaching and its significance in history. The article describes open
air preaching as being antiquated and akin to a preacher putting on a performance. Open air
preaching and performance are fully explained as existing from the early church to present day, and
beyond the confines of what is termed traditional preaching.
The article describes the author at the time of this writing (2009), had his primary focus towards his
PhD, thesis, at the University of Edinburgh.
This article raises awareness of the historic value of open air preaching, being seen as radical, in
no way limits it to being a method utilized by such as Jesus Christ, Paul the Apostle, and in modern
times Rev. Billy Graham. It is a great article for those that aspire to enter the ministry at the
grassroots level and beyond.

that pet owners would need. Taking a deeper look into how they got started, what their strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats are in the prosperous marketplace that has a high demand for
pet products in today s culture that are reliable and inexpensive.
Petco originally known as UPCO was started in 1965 as a mail order veterinary supply business
in San Diego, California. The name changed from UPCO to Petco in the late 1970s and began to
expand their business. Their first store was established in Tigard, Oregon in 1980. Latter in the late
1980s the company had a major growth in retail when Petco acquired two pet supply chains,
WellPoint and the Pet Department allowing them to expand their products. This allowed them to
triple there store numbers from forty to one hundred and thirty expanding from Oregon to
Washington and Texas. After that their store in Santa Monica California started selling fish and
many other animals soon followed.

Kepler s Laws Of Planetary Motion
Kepler s Laws Johannes Kepler formulated the Three Laws of Planetary Motion. The first is the
Law of Orbits, stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. The
second law is the Law of Areas. This is the idea that a line that connects the planet to the sun
sweeps out equal areas in the plane of the planets orbitin equal time intervals. Last is the Law of
Periods which states that the square of the period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the
semi major axis of its orbit. It is simple to just accept the laws and memorize them, but take it a
step further. What are the explanations to these laws and how did Kepler come to those
conclusions? The results that Kepler published actually began with Tycho Brahe. Brahe was
interested in reforming astronomy, and wanted to prove his idea that planets circle the sun which
then move around the stationary earth. He made several observations with advanced instruments
that still to this day have been proven by calculations done with modern computers to be quite
accurate. All of Brahe s observations were very useful and interesting to Kepler who became
Brahe s assistant in 1600. Some propose that Brahe only continued making observations because
he was unsure of what to do with them or how to apply them, so it was left up to assistants such as
Johannes Kepler to put the information to use (J.V. Field). Kepler had been engaging in finding an
orbit of Mars, and Brahe s observations

Anne Frank Reflection
The Holocaust was a horrific event in human history that took place in the early 1930s through
the mid 1940s. This was when millions of Jews and other people who were thought to be a race
and were sent to concentration camps by those who refer to as evil people. Although many
people thought this, one girl, Anne Frank, who was a Jewish girl in hiding, said this: In spite of
everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. Regarding all of the hate and struggles
Anne and her family faced, she still saw good in everyone and everything that happened. After
reading the playbased on Anne s real diary she kept while in hiding, I have to agree with her
famous quote. One of the main reasons I agree with Anne is because of the empathy Mr. Frank
showed for her daughter when times were scary. Now, I do understand that all arguments have two
sides and that there are some who don t agree with me, according to Mr. Van Daan s selfishness
and greed.
Now, I m sure some of you are saying that there are more acts of kindness throughout the play, and I
agree with you, but what convinced me to side with Anne and her thought is when her father, Mr.
Frank, attended to her needs after a nightmare she had. On page 64, the following dialogue takes
place:
Mr. Frank: I want you to take this pill.
Anne: What is it?
Mr. Frank: Something to quiet you. ... Do you want me to read to you for a while?
During this scene, the Van Daan s, the Frank s and Mr. Dussel had gone to bed for the night.
Everyone was sleeping peacefully until Anne started screaming from a terrible nightmare. She
accidentally woke everyone else up with her screaming, and her father decided to take care of
Anne and let everyone else go back to sleep. Unlike Mr. Van Daan, Mr. Frank, or Anne s father,
showed that he has empathy for his daughter and would do anything to make sure that she was
okay. And by asking if she wanted him to read to her really showed that he really cared about her.
His act not only shows empathy for Anne, but that he s there for her when she needs him and that
he doesn t just care about himself, but about others. And by doing so, Mr. Frank stayed with her
until she fell asleep. He was doing what any father should do.
Now, just because I

Cocaine, otherwise known as white girl is a drug that should stay illegal. White girl is a drug

mainly found in Andean highlands of South America. However, most cocainein the United States,

that help one after intake and when a person possibly becomes an addict, but why can t there be
as many places that prevent contact with the drug altogether. There are also other ways to take
in cocaine. Rather not cocaine, but its plant self. Many people have also come to chew cocaine
leaves and even put it in their teas. This way of using it first started back in the Inca Civilization.
These people believed that coca was a grand gift from the gods. The coca leaf is just as bad as
the cocaine itself. Point is, anything in general that is associated with cocaine, can usually be
classified as a bad thing for everyone else. Pure cocaine was first extracted in 1859. In a sense
this was the year in which what some people call as, The drug of the devil was created.
Throughout time, people have tried and tried to stop cocaine from expanding but as history has
shown, many if not all of those attempts have resulted in failure. Cocaine is a drug that not many
believe will ever go away due to the fact that so many people intake it on a very regular basis and
they do not believe that cocaine will die out soon. The only thing that many believe can even come
close to stopping it is chasing down and shutting

American dream as; if ones do the best that they can, all the doors will open to them in order to
reach happiness and to benefit from the opportunities. (Michael S., 2004) Throughout the world
many people day dream to be a part of American dream one day. However the missing point
which they do not know is that the expectations may be disappoint humans after they take one

that U.S is known as American dream for many people but indeed, U.S is not the land of
opportunities that people are assumed. When one takes one slice of the big cake he or she can
realize that the taste of the cake is not same for all races in U.S. There is a non ignorable
categorization between the races in U.S. Jefferson M. Fish defines racism: Treating people unfairly
because of their group membership . (2011) There are many advertisements that introduce U.S as
the land of opportunities and land of freedom. U.S is one of the most developed countries about
economic conditions and opportunities. There are many work streams, many opportunities that are
provided for people. However the opportunities are not equally balanced between the all ethnic

The Big Black Smiling Mammy, The Sexual Deviant, And The...
The big Black smiling mammy, the sexual deviant, and the angry sapphire are historically depicted
images of Black women. Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black
Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the
Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about
recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the
historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the
imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial
gains and transnationality.
Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers ,
illustrators , and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the
(mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced
and the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have
used illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and
fabrication of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and
constructs an argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative
that reflects popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of
African descent. In

Twelfth Night Viola Identity Essay
Through out Shakespeare s entire Twelfths Night Act there were various roles of mistaken
identities. Shakespeare often uses mistaken identity to create confusion and tangled, love
triangles. This keeps his plays fresh and serves to add humor to the entertainment. (D, Jill) Viola
is one of the main characters of the Twelfths Night Act we can easily reduce the amorality or her
decision to dress like a young man. Her character is the center the entire plot. She seems to be
the only character to truly be authentic. She also seems to be truly in love. Viola also plays the
character of Cesario. At times she has problems keeping her identity being that she is in disguise.

This is odd because Sebastian and Viola are different in many ways. In Act three scene one
Cesario disguised as Viola encounters a conversation with Feste and she is very pleasant like
with him. When Sebastian encounters a conversation with Feste in Act four, scene one
Sebastian is very bothered with Feste and doesn t give him the same treatment. This is where
people start to have doubts about Cesario. Viola knows that Cesario is being mistaken for
Sebastian. This is due to the fact that Viola is the only one that knows she has been disguising
herself as a man and the other characters in the play do not. They believe that Cesario is actually
a young man. As I stated before the mistaken identities don t come into the play unti Viola
disguised as Cesario and Sebastian start to come into contact with the same situations as each
other. Now that I have discussed who is mistaken for whom let me now answer the question of
what do these mix ups signify? So what do these mix ups signify? We see what we see but it
doesn t mean that we are seeing the real thing. Just like Cesario was a young male but it was
really Viola under all of that male clothing and disguise. If Viola would have never said to
everyone that she was Cesario everyone would have continued to think Cesario was indeed a

Hereditary Multiple Exostoses
Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is a pediatric skeletal disorder which develops between birth
and 12 years of age. The disorder has an occurrence of 1 out of 50,000 children. HME is
characterized by the development of multiple benign bone tumors, referred to as exostoses, which
develop throughout the skeletal system. Tumors usually develop on the end of long bones and flat
bones during growth of the child and stop developing once the child has stopped growing
(National Library of Medicine [NLM], 2013). HME is characterized by the development of
multiple tumors on bone called osteochondromas which are composed of bony components with a
cartilage cap. These tumors usually are not malignant, or noncancerous, and occur in two different
forms. The first form being a broad based sessile osteochondroma and the second being a small
based stalked osteochondroma (Ryckx et al., 2013). These exoctoses are very painful and
discomforting to the affected child and cause functional impairment due to either compression of
soft tissue or obstruction as a result of its size. Because the tumors develop during growth, limb
deformities can develop causing physical distortions such as uneven limbs (Ham, 2013; NLM,
2013).
The number of osteochondromas and area where they occur vary between patients. Bones
throughout the whole body from the clavicle to the foot are affected. A study performed by
Clement and Porter. (2011) revealed 5361 exostoses in sites all over the body as seen in

Black Elk Speaks Summary
In Black Elk Speaks, writer John G. Neihardt transcribes the words of Sioux holy man Black Elk
excellently to create a book both spiritually and historically significant. Written initially in 1932, a
year when the people of the United States were too entrenched in the Great Depression to give
thought to the still poorly treated Indians, Neihardt went against the grain in attempt to open the
nation s eyes to the other side of the Native American conflicts of the 1800s. The viewpoint of the
Indian tribes themselves had never before been shared until the publication of Black Elk Speaks.
Due to the lack of interest in American Indians at that time, people received the publication with

recalls his vision from almost ninety years earlier with such clarity that even the most skeptical

shares part of his vision, ...all over the universe I could hear the winds at war like wild beasts

that place now, and I am afraid something very bad is going to happen all over the world. He
cannot read and knows nothing of world affairs (37). The holy man was so in touch with the
world that without any knowledge given to him, he was able to sense growing tension across the

many cultural aspects of his people through his retelling of his life, and admits his numerous

An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters...
An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters in Hamlet
Hamlet s famous To be or not to be soliloquy in Act 3, Scene 1 provides the context for several of
the characters actions. It is a soliloquy about fearing the unknown that lies waiting on the other
side of the grave (are we punished and/or rewarded according to our actions on earth?) and as
Hamlet reasons, Conscience does make cowards of us all (3.1.2). In other words, Hamlet feels
that he is unable to act because of the haunting voice of doubt inside him. He doubts that he
would find peace in the afterlife should he kill himself. He doubts the events he sees before his
very eyes and so cannot exact revenge as the spirit of his father urges him to do. Yet, as Hamlet
begins to unravel, other characters expose their doubts as well, revealing how they too are troubled
by the unknown. King Claudius reveals his troubled conscience after witnessing the play and
wonders what he has done; Hamlet s mother tries to block out the reality of the situation she has
entered into when Hamlet attacks her with what he knows (not knowing is better than knowing, she
feels). This paper will examine the ways in which the unknown affects the actions of the characters
in Hamlet and show that at the heart of each character is an unwillingness to confront the unknown
(which is oftentimes themselves). Fear of the unknown arises in the very beginning scene of the
play with the appearance of the ghost of Hamlet s father.

The Elizabethan Era And The Great War
The Elizabethan era and the Great War era were both times of profound change and struggle and
this is reflection through the fashion of both eras. The Elizabethan Era began in 1558 when
Elizabeth I ascended to the throne, switching England from Catholicism under Queen Mary to
Protestant. The era ended in 1603 with the death of Elizabeth. A little over 3 centuries later, the
Great War broke out after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. After four years of
fighting, the Great War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles
. The outbreak of war in
1914 and the ongoing conflict in Elizabethan England between the Catholics and Protestants meant
that fashion was constantly changing in response to the political and social turmoil of the times.
Whilst Elizabethan fashion restricted spontaneous fashion as well as being a status of status and
wealth, Great War fashion liberated women by allowing them to wear pants and the cut of
garments were more natural to allow for ease of movement. Both eras utilized fabrics such as silk,
cotton and wool in the fashion world. However due to fabric shortages in World War I
, synthetic
fabrics such as rayon, were used as a cheaper and more readily available alternative. Both the

other hand, fashion during the war years was dictated by fabric rationing and the need for more

The Importance Of Gun Violence In The United States
America s gun violence rate has been alarmingly increasing since the 90s and has continued
throughout the years. Although guns may save lives, evidence shows that in the United States,
thieves are more likely to steal guns and misuse them. Due to lack of gun control found in nearly
fifty percent of the states, citizens misuse guns for other reasons. Since 2012, there have been gun
sales spiking across the U.S. Every year, America s minimum increase in gun sales is five percent.
The American government should raise gun laws to reduce gun violence, which leads to death.
Opponents might argue that owning a gun reduces their chances of injury. Opponents might also
say that guns are useful for self defense. However, evidence shows an increasing number in the
misuse of guns for damage.

Memory Is The Diary That We All Carry About With Us
Oscar Wilde said that Memory... is the diary that we all carry about with us. Every page of our
diary filled with a series of memories, but we wouldn t make a perfectly diary. Sometimes we lost
pictures in the diary, sometimes we miss spell words; just like memories will become vague and
pass out of mind. The process of memoryincludes Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval; those three
parts correlate and restrict each other. Memory storage is a step encompasses how information is
retained over time (Laura, 2013). As two of the systems involved in memory storage short term
memory (STM) and the long term memory (LTM) and play an important role when people
recalling specific memory.
The paper will discuss both STM and LTM based on the textbook, then compare and contrast the
information on the textbook, to discuss memory psychologically. There are several resources

relevant to the information process in memory. The resources focus on the reason of memory

The American Businessman Essay
The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought
probably is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark.
However, this is not the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee
shirts that relate to cars and trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a
businessowner, he starts to work again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has
something to do and time to do it. He elaborates, I can t just do nothing, that doesn t seem
practical to me, Eric has always been a devoted worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for
his two children, Maddy and Masen. Before his business, Merchant Automotive, became his
priority in work, he was a mechanic for a Todd Wenzel dealership. However, he still ran his own
small business on the side while working there. He bought parts from their supply manager and
resold them on his own website. They knew what I was doing, they just didn t care because I
wasn t competing with them. His managers hadn t cared because they weren t selling anything
online, and therefore saw no problem with Eric doing so. Along with that, he would do speciality
mechanic work on large diesel trucks out of his own garage. Eric had tools and knowledge to
perform maintenance on specific vehicles that almost every other mechanic shop could not do. He
attracted customers from around the globe by using online forum websites, spreading

Compare Feudalism And Manorialism
The Feudal system was developed to bring a sense of security and economic stability to medieval
Europe as the same goes to the manor system. Although by some definitions they appear to be very
alike, but there are a lot more differentiations than most assume. Feudalism and manorialism would
have characterize most of the European Middle Age. Feudalisminvolves the relationship between
landlords and upper the classes. And as Manorialism is the relationship between serf and landlord.
When describing a (one) lord, it refers to manorialism. When describing an entire middle age
society, it refers to the term feudalism.
Defined Feudalism and What It Was:
Feudalism was founded on the relationship between the lord and the vassal, even though the form

Those who profited from feudalism remained as part of the institution as long as they possibly
could. Feudalism is the dominant form of political organization in Medieval Europe. It was a
hierarchical system of social relationships were in a noble lord granted land known as a fief to a
free man....the land granted to each vassal was inhabited by serfs who worked the land for him,
providing him with income to support his military endeavors; in turn, the vassal would protect
the serfs from attack and invasions. (Melissa Snell) This was one of the social systems that
developed in Europe during the eighth century. Vassals were protected by lords who by in
definition served for higher authorities. Practically, this system developed out of the fear and
terror. Feudalism provided a political structure between the social classes in which provided for
an exchange of goods, and protection. This Medieval Europe political system is in sum, a of a
set of legal and military obligations, involving around the three key concepts (as mentioned
before) of lords, vassals, and fiefs. The Lord is a man of higher rank in a feudal society known as a
king or the owner of the territory. The Vassal is the

Philip II And Peter The Great Of Russia
Saige Gitlin
Philip II and Peter the Great Philip II of Spain (1527 1598) and Peter the Great of Russia (1672
1725) are both historic leaders that had a tremendous influence over the fate of each of their nations.
Although from two different time periods, the impact of their decision making, and temperaments
directly dictated and impacted the historical events of their individual countries. Being that both
led during a time where the desire for power and absolutism in one s country and throughout
Europe was at a high, each ruler used his own methods to increase their strength. Due to the
exorbitant amount of power put upon all leaders, it is clear that a nation s fate is determined by its
ruler, and how that ruler chooses to utilize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to suppressing their revolts, Peter successfully undermined the lifestyle of the boyars,
without losing their commitment to the state. He accomplished this with his establishment of the
Table of Ranks, which designated the boyars specific roles in either the bureaucracy or military,
making them workers of the state. These necessary steps allowed Russia to build a new, strong
military force, and a powerful centralized government. With increasing military strength, Peter the
Great initiated the organization of his new navy. A strong navy, which Russia previously lacked,
was essential to the state, due to the absence of warm water ports. While water does surround
Russia, it is frozen over for the majority of the year, which made trade relatively impossible at the
time. Therefore, capturing other warm water ports was a necessary step to increase Russian power.
This necessity led to conflicts with both the Ottoman Empire, and the Swedish, who blocked Russia
from the ports they desired. The strong navy that Peter developed, known as the Baltic fleet, had
early successes in capturing Ottoman ports such as Azov; however, its main target was the Swedish
who controlled Baltic Sea. The Swedish King at the time Charles XII, fought against Peter in the
Great Northern Warfor these ports. In the battle of Poltava, Peter s well trained fleet successfully
crushed the Swedish; and the Russian

David Schön Model Of Reflective Practice
As important as methods may be, the most practical thing we can achieve in any kind of work is
insight into what is happening inside us as we do it. The more familiar we are with our inner
terrain, the more sure footed our [work] and living becomes. P. J. Palmer (cited in Skovholt, T. M.,
2001).
The pursuit for self awareness or self understanding is a chief factor of valuable reflective practice.
Counsellors need not only to be conscious of their abilities, facts and presentation as professionals,
but also wary of any private aspects that may mess with or obstruct their capability to supply an
efficient and objective service. Counselling professionals in their everyday practice encounter
unique and difficult circumstances which may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis
Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider
leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and
underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s
health (Laureate Education, 2012). By protecting community health, in turn, helps control the cost
of the over burdensome healthcare expenses (Getzen, 2013). A public healthprofessional has an
obligation to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene
for policy makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and
disseminative communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy
(Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). The future financing to improve
and amend required policy is through evidence based health surveillance that helps public health
professionals decide the direction of where budget containment should be allocated (Brownson et
al., 2009).
A public health specialist is responsible for the setting up the priorities to inform and advise
stakeholders and government agencies where allocated funding should be directed. It is through the
public health professionals consistence support that financing for public health services are
increasing for the population (Laureate Education, 2012). Moreover, public health professionals are

Chlorpromache Research Paper
This week I learnt about chlorpromazine, which is an antipsychotic. It is also used in short term
management of anxiety, agitation or disturbed behaviour in non psychotic disorders.
Chlorpromazine is an antagonist of many receptors, which include О±1 adrenoceptor, M3
muscarinic receptor, H1 Histamine receptor, 5HT2 receptor, dopamineD2 receptor and angiotensin
II AT1 receptor. This illustrates one of the pharmacology principles, which is selectivity of a
drug. A highly selective drug ( clean drug ) binds to only one receptor or molecular target whereas
a drug having low selectivity ( dirty drug ) will bind to many targets in the body. Binding upon
many receptors can produce many effects but some effects are not desired. For example,
chlorpromazine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morphine mimics endogenous opioids and activates opioid receptors in the central and
peripheral nervous systems. Opioid receptors are G protein coupled receptors which are coupled
to Gi protein. Upon binding of morphine to opioid receptors, it triggers the inhibition of
adenylate cyclase enzyme and ultimately stops the firing of impulses for nociceptive
information. After repeated activation of opioid receptors by morphine, some receptors can be
desensitised and binding of morphine to these receptors can no longer stops the
neurotransmission. As a consequence, tolerance to morphine develops. When a drug is used
repeatedly over time, tolerance can develop as the body adapts to the presence of the drug in the
body. Therefore, a higher dose is required to achieve the same desired effect. For example, for
morphine, if tolerance develops, a higher dose is needed in order to attain the same analgesic
effect. Moreover, one of the adverse effects of morphine when it is used for long term to relieve
pain is physical dependence. Dependence develops as a result of tolerance, leading to a resetting of
homeostatic mechanisms that require the continued presence of drug for normal function.
Therefore, if chronic treatment is stopped suddenly or an antagonist is given, withdrawal symptoms
such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, sweating, anxiety can

Flint Water Crisis Analysis
The Flint, Michigan water crisis was a media phenomenon from January 2016 to March 2016.
As the rest of America started to realize everyday American citizens did not have access to clean
water at the fault of their government, millions became outraged. Everyone chimed in from
Black Lives Matter protestors, to the President and even Presidential candidates. The problem?
The Flint water crisis started in April 2014 and is still ongoing (Robbins, 2016). But, when was
the last time you heard of the crisis in the news? One of the biggest social problem facing
America is that we only care of an issue for as long as it stays in the news. We have become a
society of being bandwagon activist and only being very passionate about an issue that is
currently in the media. Once the issue has received its 15 minutes of fame, it is on the next
trending issue. The problem with this is that so many more issues are caused because of the lack
of attention. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the impact of Flint water crisis. We
know of the high exposure to lead the residence are facing and the sickness coming from it, but
what was not reported is how drugs to help treat severe lead poisoning grew 7200% in the last few
years, peaking during the crisis. What use... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one cares about a small bush fire until it s a wildfire. Granted, not everything needs to be
reported on the news, but when thousands of American citizens right in our backyard are being
given contaminated water, does it really have to take the Governor declaring a state of emergency
almost two years after the problem started for people to care? Before the State of Emergency was
issued, msnbc was the only news outlet to have spent a significant amount of time, over 68
minutes, covering the crisis. CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, CNN, and PBS combines spent about 5 and a
half minutes covering the crisis (Robbins,

Greek Mythology Importance
What is mythology? Greek mythology has been around ever since there were Greeks to tell them.
This started at around 1900 BC and ended at approximately 146 BC when the romans conquered
the Greeks. Because the Greeks were so old they didn t know much about earth such as why there
is night and day, why there are different seasons, why there is lightning and many other things. So
they used Mythology to explain these things. In those day s Greek mythologywas a little like
Christianity in that some people believed while others didn t believe.
What is the importance of Greek mythology? Greek mythology was very important to the Greeks
way back in those days because it was how they explained natural events. For example, they used
Greek mythology to explain how the humans were made, what happens to them when they die and
how the earth came to be. But these days there is more scientific ways of knowing these things. For
example, Christians believe God created humans and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zeus is the Big boss of the gods and he controls the sky. He is pretty popular and is known for his
addiction to women. Poseidon controls the waters and is fairly popular among the gods and the
last is Hades who is the god of the underworld, he is very unpopular and is known for being
antisocial. There were also what are known as the twelve Olympians which is basically a council
of the lesser gods. This council was made up of the following gods: Zeus (sky), Hera (marriage and
child birth), Poseidon (sea), Demeter (agriculture, fertility and the harvest), Athena (wisdom and
good council), Apollo (music, poetry and art), Artemis (hunting, virginity), Ares (war), Aphrodite
(love, beauty), Hephaestus (fire, metalworking and forging), Hermes (messenger of the gods, trade,
thieves and sports) and either Hestia (goddess of the hearth), or Dionysus (fertility and wine). These
gods ruled the world.

  • 2. In Order To Make This Renovation A Reality, Siue Must Choose In order to make this renovation a reality, SIUE must choose a company or companies to assist in the renovation. Oberlin college partnered with Smart Hotels, which is a company specializing in the new wave of campus lodging (Gorce par. 5). This is step one in the process, and proof that there are companies out there who can help universities change their housing for the better. It took almost five years to plan the renovation at Oberlin, but since then the company has built three more complexes have and have six more in the works of being constructed (Gorce par. 15). There is no sign of stopping Oberlin, and they have truly begun the revolution of something so impacting for generations of collegestudents to come. This dream could become... You are likely going to start looking at apartment complexes and houses around the area that make you feel more at home and are way more appealing than what you are currently living in. Not only are you removing yourself to such quick access to your university and its resources, but now you are spending your money elsewhere, when it could be going right back to your college if they would have provided you a more positive experience your first year. I know this because I went through it. Living in the dorms has not been the greatest experience, and all I can think about is how I can not wait to get out and live in a more appealing apartment next year. Of course I could move into an upperclassmen dorm building, or even the on campus apartments, but I definitely will not be doing that after the campus housing experience my university has provided me this year. My dorm room and building SCREAM boring and outdated. It has affected me and my experience so much that I am choosing to spend hundreds of dollars more someplace else just because I can not stand it anymore. As a result, modernizing and refurbishing dorm rooms on college campuses across the United States will not only solve the issue of them having a bad wrap, but will also bring in more revenue for the college because it will attract more prospective students, and first year students will have a more valuable experience which resulting in them staying on campus again in the approaching ... • 3. Stephanie Says- the Velvet Underground Song Analysis Stephanie Says The Velvet Underground Song Analysis The writer of the song seems to be talking about a girl who s looking for answers; she s confused and doesn t really know what s happening around her. Although this is not wrong there seems to be more to this girl Stephanie than meets the eye. Stephanie feels like she has wasted her life doing what people told her to do and following others without acknowledging her desires. This girl just wants to be herself but doesn t know how. She wonders why she is the way she is and knows that she s being foolish but doesn t know how to stop. She s stuck in a never ending cycle. She watches life go by, feeling like she is not a part of the world around her. She connects calls but is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She wants to clarify everything, which is what the entire song is actually talking about. Stephanie is trying to put everything into the light of day and whether she succeeds or not is left to the listener s imagination with the last sentence that is It s cold in Alaska (Stephanie says) . This last part is repeated three times in a row. The meaning behind it is that Alaska being cold is a fact and everyone knows it since they nicknamed her after it but does anyone really know how cold it gets? They can imagine but can they know for sure the way she does. She says these lines as she gives up and stops trying to find a way out from the state she s in. The listener can than only feel her hopelessness and imagine what becomes of her next. The song consists of a couple of stylistic devices like metaphor. Stephanie is compared to a door using metaphor in order to create a better image in the listener s mind about her situation. Another one is Stephanie being compared to Alaska. In the last line which goes as It s so cold in Alaska , does the writer really talk about the fact that the state of Alaska is cold or might there be a deeper meaning behind this simple line? I don t believe that there ever is a true or false meaning behind a song, for songs are especially created so that their meanings differ from people to people. Even if the writer of a song explains the message behind it, this message will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Theory Of Swing Kids Theory Illustrations Swing Kids offers excellent depictions of many persuasion concepts, including fear appeals, source credibility, and foot in the door/door in the face approaches. It also illustrates three familiar persuasion theories: Cognitive Dissonance, Social Judgment, and Elaboration Likelihood (for discussion of these theories, see Gass Seiter, 1999; Griffin, 1997; Larson, 1995; Woodward DentГіn, 1996). The foUowing is a brief summary of how these three theories are illustrated by the three primary characters. Cognitive Dissonance. Arvid stands firmly against values and beliefs that are inhumane and evil. His behaviors are consistent with his attitudes. He recognizes that even small inconsistencies in behavior can lead to changes in attitudes. He declares, Anytime you go along with them [the Nazis], you just make it easier for them. Peter begins the movie with anti Nazi sentiments but becomes confused once he is forced to join the HJ. The more he engages in HJ activities, the more his attitudes change. In a conversation in the middle in the movie, he defends the Nazis and puts down his father, reducing the importance of his previous cognitions. When he comes to his senses near the end of the movie, his monologues suggest that he has decided to stand by principle rather than reduce his cognitive dissonance by rationalizing his behavior. Thomas spends much of the movie rationalizing his behavior and overturning his attitudes and values. He denies volition about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most jobs have high rates of stress but it has been Proven that police work is the most stressful out of all the jobs. There are four categories of stress that police officers face. These four categories are external, organization, personal, and operational stress. External stress is produced by real threats and dangers. External threats happen outside of the office. Some examples of this are gun runs and other dangerous activities that take part in auto pursuits. Organizational stress is produced by elements within a quasi military character. • 6. A Report On Uav Traffic Safety Abstract The purpose of this paper is to review some UAV traffic concerns. UAV traffic is increasing tremendously over the past decade. There have been a number of mid air collisions with UAVs crashing into commercial aircraft or into each other. They are big enough to cause more engine foreign object damage than a bird strike. This is because they are made of stronger material and plus they have batteries on board that can cause severe damage to aircraft. Air traffic controllers need to know how many UAVs are operating in their area of responsibility and know exactly where they are. The FAA has adapted to the some of the new UAV laws, but this paper will show where they are lacking some rules and regulations involving UAV traffic. Introduction This paper is going to demonstrate the importance of UAV traffic control. It will review some previous mid air collisions with both UAVs colliding with each other and with commercial aircraft. It will include some of the causes like lack of technology to detect UAVs and other aircraft, air traffic controller centers lacking technology, and the FAA lacking rules and regulations addressing the UAV population increases. The technology has to communicate back and forth from the UAV to the operator and back. This can become a problem because of hacking threats. The main concern of this paper is to propose an efficient and secure air traffic control of UAVs. In the article Secure routing in UAV , the three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Crime Against Humanity A crime against humanity is widespread or systematic attacks against a civilian population. Crimes against humanity is a problem that has repeated itself through history and is still occurring in the present world today. How countries, that are in a place of power, should or should not respond to these crimes is a controversial issue that numerous people differ on opinion. Some argue that nations should act according to their own national interest and do what is best for their country, including not doing anything at all. Other s have a belief in which countries that are in a place to intervene should do so. This could be with a forceful militaristic approach. Any crime against humanity should not be tolerated in this view. Another opinion is that in crisis situations, a collective effort by an international community, such as the United Nations, should be the people who respond and resolve the conflict. This takes out individualizing countries, and creates an international effort. Over the course of history many diverse actions have been taken in response to a crime against humanity. Some examples as to why an international community or a country should intervene with full force and right away are through the Ukraine Famine, the Rwandan Genocide, and the Armenian Genocide. What is known as the Ukraine Famine was a crisis in which no outside force responded to help the Ukrainians. • 8. Different Types Of Art Movements Essay Throughout the years many different types of art movements were being introduced. Some may be more common to some people while others are not as popular. The Renaissance movement is the most commonly known by the people. The term Renaissance means rebirth and it was introduced in the early 14th century. The movement took place in Europe, however, the majority of the movement began in Italy. There was a northern Renaissanceand a southern Renaissance. In the northern Renaissance, artists put more effort on the details of their artwork rather than focusing on making it realistic. The two main themes were individual expression and worldly experience. During this period, Europeans had the interest in the values of ancient Greece and Rome and described it as the reawakening of the culture. Therefore, the term Renaissance was used for the movement. As the movement progressed, it increased political stability, economic growth, education, and cosmopolitanism. In addition, the study of language, literature, history, and philosophy began to expand as knowledge increased. As a result, the Renaissance movement can be described as a great influence on society. Eventually, the Renaissance movement led to humanism which focused on the unique values of a person. Artists introduced many unique ideas during the Renaissance movement which became a success to the society. • 9. The Flint Water Crisis Is A Public Health Emergency The Flint water crisis was a public health emergency that occurred only an hour from my home. It is a crisis that involved failures on multiple levels of government, including my state government. Their failures caused a preventable public health issue to increase in severity until there was irreversible damage, millions of dollars in recovery costs, and an entire city s health at risk. It is important to look at the failures of my government and be able to recognize and identify when they are not performing their duties, so that future crisis such as this can be avoided. Months after resident s complaints were essentially ignored, E. coli and coliform bacteria were detected in the water (NPR, 2016). Residents were advised to boil their water until pipes were flushed and water was treated with chlorine. The exact same scenario occurred for a second time in September. In January of 2015, Flint was found to be in violation of the Safe Drinking WaterAct after disinfection byproducts were detected at alarming rates (NPR, 2016). Water was somehow still deemed safe for consumption, as the city was very passive in its advisories. Although E. coli, coliform bacteria, and disinfection byproducts were very serious and harmful substances found in the water supply, they would not be the main issue. A month later, tests performed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed that excessive rates of lead were present in the water supply, rates that far exceeded the EPA s limit (CNN, 2017). Another test in March indicated even higher levels of lead. A switch back to the DWSD was proposed and denied following the second test. A lawsuit was also filed against the city claiming the water to be a health risk, but the case was dismissed. • 10. Battle of Marathon This essay talks about the great... In 490 B.C.E. the Battle of Marathon was a brief but important event in the war between the Greek city states and The Persian Empire. The results of the battle had unforeseen effects on Athens and the future of Western Civilization. The Greek Golden Age , centred in Athens, brought about new forms of art, the foundations of future philosophy and redirected literature and drama. The achievements of the Athenians during this period were directly connected to the inspiration and prestige (which later translated into power) fuelled by the events at Marathon. How the events of a single day changed the entire course of Western Civilization is hard to fathom but obvious when one looks at the aftermath of that fateful event. The revolts of a few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The victory at Marathon and the successful defence of the city, gave the Athenians a sense of moral superiority and pride. In later battles of the Persian War, at Thermopylai and Salamis, the highly regarded Spartans and those of the Peloponnese were largely in control of strategic moves. Although still a major force in every battle, Athens and her allies were outnumbered and thus followed Spartan command. After the second occupation of Athens after the battle of Salamis, the Athenians gave Sparta an ultimatum due to a lack of Spartan support. If the Peloponnesians wanted Athens navy, they must save Athens land. Because the Athenians had more damage to recover from it brought stronger confidence and overall pride for them once the city got back on its feet. The Spartans, Corinthians and other Peloponnesian allies now had reason to fear Athens growing naval power and its capabilities now that the city was repaired and invigorated with a renewed sense of pride. This is the point that we see the beginnings of a shift in the balance of power and influence between the city states. When the Ionian states adopted the Athenians as leaders, as opposed to the Spartans who had been pre eminent for a long time, the rise of the Athenian influence began to show. For the purpose of protecting all Greeks from a further Persian attack, a league was formed, of which Athens was now the leader. The league included ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is actually better than regular beds in my opinion. I mean it lasts longer, you could control the temperature, you could fall asleep faster and with less ease I mean what else you want to know so you can buy one. • 12. Factors for Your Personal Credit Score In my research I found that three companies are used in the United States as the primary determiners for credit score. The companies that determine credit score are Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. The components I discovered that make up your personal credit score are: Payment History, Lines of New Credit, How much you owe, and finally length of credit historywith other factors as well rounding out the table. Payment history makes up the largest percentage at Thirty Five percent. They use your past behavior in determining what you will do in the future. This is considered the most important factor in calculating credit scores because if they do not have data to show how you have performed in the past that might be misleading and could lead to someone with terrible credit in the past to open many new credit cards. They take into account the two types of loans, revolving and installment. Revolving loans are the types that always fluctuate, like opening new charge card accounts. Installments are paid back in portions like if you have payments to make on a car lease or mortgaging a home. If you default on a loan it is not always going to result in identical damage to your credit score. The amount of damage to defaulting is determined by the size of the installment. If you are working on boosting your credit to a higher rating, you should always pay on or by the due date. The second biggest component to a credit score is the debt amounts. Debt amounts makes up around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Red # 40 Dyes In the United States and in most of the world food dyes are exceedingly common. In addition to this, they have been brought into question as being dangerous for human and environmental health. From general observation and knowledge about this topic I knew that Red #40 dye (Allura Red AC) is at the height of this controversy. After some initial research, I discovered more information on Azo dyes, their effect on the environment, as well as wastewater treatment used to decontaminate water containing these dyes. This led to my interest on the topic of Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Processes (EAOPs) as a fairly recent solution to environmental issues regarding contaminants in water. I was curious to see how these processes work, as well as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is largely because they are relatively cheap and simple to manufacture. Furthermore, they produce vibrant shades of color and are reasonably soluble in water (Liu, Wan, Nan, n.d.). However, these dyes are now manufactured at such a large scale that they bring up numerous health and environmental concerns. In recent years azo dyes, especially Allura Red AC, have been connected to child hyperactivity, which also raises concerns over other potentially toxic effects they can have on living organisms ( FDA Probes Link , 2011). This is only amplified by the fact that azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo Grenadine are also especially recalcitrant to conventional methods of wastewater treatment. Research on this topic led me to an article on electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and their potential as a solution to mineralizing especially recalcitrant compounds in the environment, Decontamination of Wastewaters Containing Synthetic Organic Dyes by Electrochemical Methods: A Review. This led me to pursue the investigation in my extended essay on the topic of electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and the effect they have on azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo Grenadine. • 14. Reflection On What I Have Learned About Myself And UW-Madison I hope all is going well back home in small town, rural Wisconsin. I am writing to you the discuss and reflect upon what I have learned about myself and UW Madison and how I can utilize those different lessons I ve learned to make the most out of my Wisconsin Experience and eventually achieve my personal and professional goals. First and foremost, I cannot begin to start with how radically different this university and the diversity up here is compared to what I am accustomed to back home. Walking the streets here was definitely a culture shock for me at first. The different races and beliefs here were almost overwhelming to begin with, especially after one of our house meetings discussing those topics. Being around only one thousand people my whole life, who all shared similar beliefs in many ways put a little shell around me. If someone was slightly different than everyone else, they were judged and sometimes severely bullied for just being themselves. I am so very thankful for the eye opening that the University of Wisconsin Madisonhas provided for me. It not only will allow me to see things with a different perspective, but it will also give me a new appreciation for all walks of life. The history of high academia and prestigious standings throughout the country was also a bit intimidating at first. It was hard for me to think that I could make it amongst tens of thousands of other bright individuals, but I am confident that I am slowly finding my place, my reason for coming to this university. Being able to be amongst some of the smartest individuals in the United States has humbled me immensely. Back home, I was considered the smartest of the smart, earning high honors in all academics. Here, though, I am merely average. But, I am going to be working every day to set myself aside from others by finding the thing that I truly excel in and what makes me special. I cannot wait to begin my courses away from gen eds, and start specializing in the Kinesiology field. Overall, I know that these ideas will help mefind my purpose here at the University of Wisconsin Madison and what makes me a true badgerat heart. Effects Of Discrimination Against Tattoos In The Workplace While tattoos have become more and more acceptable over the years, the question still lies on whether tattoos or any other kind of body modifications in the workplace should be allowed. It s beyond easy to make cases showing the negative impacts of discrimination against tattoos and piercings in the workplace. Plastic surgery, drawing on your eyebrows, getting fake nails, and coloring your hair are also examples of body modifications. Though not everyone agrees with or thinks they re beautiful, employees are not told to cover up these modifications. Tattoos and piercings are purely another form of beautification and what makes each person their own unique individual. Beauty is personal. Considered as a form of art for some people and unprofessional for others, tattoos are being seen as a familiar form of self expression that many of the younger and older generations are getting nowadays. Tattoos are a form of body modificationalong with piercings, but the majority of people in the workplace will be forced to cover up their tattoos while people with piercings are sometimes allowed to keep them in, which causes a form of unnecessary discrimination. The Death Of The Funeral Business Sandy Hingston offers many intriguing views of a funeral service from the conventional method of a service in a church and the burial of the deceased to a service that more so relates to a party than a funeral. The Death of the Funeral Business also raises many questions to be pondered by the reader. Hingston says, A societal changeover from burialto cremationis momentous for our culture. It signals a cataclysmic shift in how we think about our bodies and ourselves (38). The questions that arise from this quote are what parallels may Hingston be trying to draw between the trend in cremation and the way we think about our bodies and ourselves? Why may she be trying to develop these connections? These are the questions I will be focusing on and how they relate to what I think the purpose of the article is. I believe the purpose of this article is to show how our generation is changing the way we view deathand how the use of technology has greatly impacted the way funerals are done. The question what parallels may Hingston be trying to draw between the trend in cremation and the way we think about our bodies and ourselves is a pretty loaded one. The quote, the rise of cremation dovetails neatly with the increase in those of us who have no religious affiliation (38) answers this question nicely. • 19. Analysis Of A Stolen Life On June 10th, 1991, eleven year old Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped, while walking to her bus stop, by Phillip and Nancy Garrido. After using a stun gun and dragging her into their car, the Garrido s proceeded to take Jaycee towards Anaheim, California. Once there, Jaycee lived in several rundown buildings in the Garrido s backyard for eighteen long years. It was during that time that Jaycee suffered multiple accounts of abuse, including sexual and emotional, and gave birth to two daughters. During her stay at the Garrido s, Jaycee s life was stolen for more than half of the time she had been breathing. However, in August of 2009, thanks to the help of two police officers, she was rescued. After the rescue, Jaycee felt that it was important that she shared her story with other kidnapping, abuse, and rape victims to help them know that they are not alone and to show others to never lose hope. It is because of her thoughts, that Jaycee wrote her memoir, aptly titled A Stolen Life, which follows her kidnapping story from her first day gone, to her recovery after being rescued. Throughout the 268 pages of A Stolen Life, I was on an emotional roller coaster ride as Jaycee told her story through her young eyes and left no details out. During one of the very first chapters in the memoir, Jaycee describes the first time Phillip Garrido raped her. I am so small and he is so big. Why is he doing this? Is this normal? • 25. Kepler s Laws Of Planetary Motion Kepler s Laws Johannes Kepler formulated the Three Laws of Planetary Motion. The first is the Law of Orbits, stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. The second law is the Law of Areas. This is the idea that a line that connects the planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas in the plane of the planets orbitin equal time intervals. Last is the Law of Periods which states that the square of the period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. It is simple to just accept the laws and memorize them, but take it a step further. What are the explanations to these laws and how did Kepler come to those conclusions? The results that Kepler published actually began with Tycho Brahe. Brahe was interested in reforming astronomy, and wanted to prove his idea that planets circle the sun which then move around the stationary earth. He made several observations with advanced instruments that still to this day have been proven by calculations done with modern computers to be quite accurate. All of Brahe s observations were very useful and interesting to Kepler who became Brahe s assistant in 1600. Some propose that Brahe only continued making observations because he was unsure of what to do with them or how to apply them, so it was left up to assistants such as Johannes Kepler to put the information to use (J.V. Field). Kepler had been engaging in finding an orbit of Mars, and Brahe s observations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was when millions of Jews and other people who were thought to be a race and were sent to concentration camps by those who refer to as evil people. Although many people thought this, one girl, Anne Frank, who was a Jewish girl in hiding, said this: In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. Regarding all of the hate and struggles Anne and her family faced, she still saw good in everyone and everything that happened. After reading the playbased on Anne s real diary she kept while in hiding, I have to agree with her famous quote. One of the main reasons I agree with Anne is because of the empathy Mr. Frank showed for her daughter when times were scary. Now, I do understand that all arguments have two sides and that there are some who don t agree with me, according to Mr. Van Daan s selfishness and greed. Now, I m sure some of you are saying that there are more acts of kindness throughout the play, and I agree with you, but what convinced me to side with Anne and her thought is when her father, Mr. Frank, attended to her needs after a nightmare she had. On page 64, the following dialogue takes place: Mr. She accidentally woke everyone else up with her screaming, and her father decided to take care of Anne and let everyone else go back to sleep. Unlike Mr. Van Daan, Mr. Frank, or Anne s father, showed that he has empathy for his daughter and would do anything to make sure that she was okay. And by asking if she wanted him to read to her really showed that he really cared about her. His act not only shows empathy for Anne, but that he s there for her when she needs him and that he doesn t just care about himself, but about others. And by doing so, Mr. Frank stayed with her until she fell asleep. He was doing what any father should do. Now, just because I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial gains and transnationality. Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators , and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the (mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. The disorder has an occurrence of 1 out of 50,000 children. HME is characterized by the development of multiple benign bone tumors, referred to as exostoses, which develop throughout the skeletal system. Tumors usually develop on the end of long bones and flat bones during growth of the child and stop developing once the child has stopped growing (National Library of Medicine [NLM], 2013). HME is characterized by the development of multiple tumors on bone called osteochondromas which are composed of bony components with a cartilage cap. These tumors usually are not malignant, or noncancerous, and occur in two different forms. The first form being a broad based sessile osteochondroma and the second being a small based stalked osteochondroma (Ryckx et al., 2013). These exoctoses are very painful and discomforting to the affected child and cause functional impairment due to either compression of soft tissue or obstruction as a result of its size. Because the tumors develop during growth, limb deformities can develop causing physical distortions such as uneven limbs (Ham, 2013; NLM, 2013). The number of osteochondromas and area where they occur vary between patients. Bones throughout the whole body from the clavicle to the foot are affected. A study performed by Clement and Porter. • 39. An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters... An Analysis of How Fear of the Unknown Affects Characters in Hamlet Hamlet s famous To be or not to be soliloquy in Act 3, Scene 1 provides the context for several of the characters actions. It is a soliloquy about fearing the unknown that lies waiting on the other side of the grave (are we punished and/or rewarded according to our actions on earth?) and as Hamlet reasons, Conscience does make cowards of us all (3.1.2). In other words, Hamlet feels that he is unable to act because of the haunting voice of doubt inside him. He doubts that he would find peace in the afterlife should he kill himself. He doubts the events he sees before his very eyes and so cannot exact revenge as the spirit of his father urges him to do. Yet, as Hamlet begins to unravel, other characters expose their doubts as well, revealing how they too are troubled by the unknown. King Claudius reveals his troubled conscience after witnessing the play and wonders what he has done; Hamlet s mother tries to block out the reality of the situation she has entered into when Hamlet attacks her with what he knows (not knowing is better than knowing, she feels). This paper will examine the ways in which the unknown affects the actions of the characters in Hamlet and show that at the heart of each character is an unwillingness to confront the unknown (which is oftentimes themselves). Fear of the unknown arises in the very beginning scene of the play with the appearance of the ghost of Hamlet s father. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After four years of fighting, the Great War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles . The outbreak of war in 1914 and the ongoing conflict in Elizabethan England between the Catholics and Protestants meant that fashion was constantly changing in response to the political and social turmoil of the times. Furthermore, Queen Elizabeth s intelligence and ruthlessness made her a formidable political force (Fischel, 2012) and due to portraiture being the main artistic genre of the time we can see the way Elizabeth influenced and dictated the fashions of her day. On the other hand, fashion during the war years was dictated by fabric rationing and the need for more practical and comfortable clothing was apparent especially in women s ... • 41. The Importance Of Gun Violence In The United States America s gun violence rate has been alarmingly increasing since the 90s and has continued throughout the years. Although guns may save lives, evidence shows that in the United States, thieves are more likely to steal guns and misuse them. Due to lack of gun control found in nearly fifty percent of the states, citizens misuse guns for other reasons. Since 2012, there have been gun sales spiking across the U.S. Every year, America s minimum increase in gun sales is five percent. The American government should raise gun laws to reduce gun violence, which leads to death. Opponents might argue that owning a gun reduces their chances of injury. Opponents might also say that guns are useful for self defense. However, evidence shows an increasing number in the misuse of guns for damage. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every page of our diary filled with a series of memories, but we wouldn t make a perfectly diary. Sometimes we lost pictures in the diary, sometimes we miss spell words; just like memories will become vague and pass out of mind. The process of memoryincludes Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval; those three parts correlate and restrict each other. Memory storage is a step encompasses how information is retained over time (Laura, 2013). As two of the systems involved in memory storage short term memory (STM) and the long term memory (LTM) and play an important role when people recalling specific memory. The paper will discuss both STM and LTM based on the textbook, then compare and contrast the information on the textbook, to discuss memory psychologically. There are several resources include this paper, although each resource explains and discusses different significant title, but relevant to the information process in memory. The resources focus on the reason of memory failure in order to explore the method to improve STM and long term memory. Those resources are discovered in psychology database and intimately relate to the topic. • 44. The American Businessman Essay The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought probably is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark. However, this is not the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee shirts that relate to cars and trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a businessowner, he starts to work again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has something to do and time to do it. He elaborates, I can t just do nothing, that doesn t seem practical to me, Eric has always been a devoted worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for his two children, Maddy and Masen. Before his business, Merchant Automotive, became his priority in work, he was a mechanic for a Todd Wenzel dealership. However, he still ran his own small business on the side while working there. He bought parts from their supply manager and resold them on his own website. They knew what I was doing, they just didn t care because I wasn t competing with them. His managers hadn t cared because they weren t selling anything online, and therefore saw no problem with Eric doing so. Along with that, he would do speciality mechanic work on large diesel trucks out of his own garage. Eric had tools and knowledge to perform maintenance on specific vehicles that almost every other mechanic shop could not do. Although from two different time periods, the impact of their decision making, and temperaments directly dictated and impacted the historical events of their individual countries. Being that both led during a time where the desire for power and absolutism in one s country and throughout Europe was at a high, each ruler used his own methods to increase their strength. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to suppressing their revolts, Peter successfully undermined the lifestyle of the boyars, without losing their commitment to the state. He accomplished this with his establishment of the Table of Ranks, which designated the boyars specific roles in either the bureaucracy or military, making them workers of the state. These necessary steps allowed Russia to build a new, strong military force, and a powerful centralized government. With increasing military strength, Peter the Great initiated the organization of his new navy. A strong navy, which Russia previously lacked, was essential to the state, due to the absence of warm water ports. While water does surround Russia, it is frozen over for the majority of the year, which made trade relatively impossible at the time. Therefore, capturing other warm water ports was a necessary step to increase Russian power. This necessity led to conflicts with both the Ottoman Empire, and the Swedish, who blocked Russia from the ports they desired. The strong navy that Peter developed, known as the Baltic fleet, had early successes in capturing Ottoman ports such as Azov; however, its main target was the Swedish who controlled Baltic Sea. The Swedish King at the time Charles XII, fought against Peter in the Great Northern Warfor these ports. Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s health (Laureate Education, 2012). By protecting community health, in turn, helps control the cost of the over burdensome healthcare expenses (Getzen, 2013). A public healthprofessional has an obligation to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene for policy makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and disseminative communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy (Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). • 49. Chlorpromache Research Paper This week I learnt about chlorpromazine, which is an antipsychotic. It is also used in short term management of anxiety, agitation or disturbed behaviour in non psychotic disorders. Chlorpromazine is an antagonist of many receptors, which include О±1 adrenoceptor, M3 muscarinic receptor, H1 Histamine receptor, 5HT2 receptor, dopamineD2 receptor and angiotensin II AT1 receptor. This illustrates one of the pharmacology principles, which is selectivity of a drug. A highly selective drug ( clean drug ) binds to only one receptor or molecular target whereas a drug having low selectivity ( dirty drug ) will bind to many targets in the body. Binding upon many receptors can produce many effects but some effects are not desired. For example, chlorpromazine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Morphine mimics endogenous opioids and activates opioid receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Opioid receptors are G protein coupled receptors which are coupled to Gi protein. Upon binding of morphine to opioid receptors, it triggers the inhibition of adenylate cyclase enzyme and ultimately stops the firing of impulses for nociceptive information. After repeated activation of opioid receptors by morphine, some receptors can be desensitised and binding of morphine to these receptors can no longer stops the neurotransmission. As a consequence, tolerance to morphine develops. When a drug is used repeatedly over time, tolerance can develop as the body adapts to the presence of the drug in the body. Therefore, a higher dose is required to achieve the same desired effect. For example, for morphine, if tolerance develops, a higher dose is needed in order to attain the same analgesic effect. Moreover, one of the adverse effects of morphine when it is used for long term to relieve pain is physical dependence. Dependence develops as a result of tolerance, leading to a resetting of homeostatic mechanisms that require the continued presence of drug for normal function. Therefore, if chronic treatment is stopped suddenly or an antagonist is given, withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, sweating, anxiety can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the rest of America started to realize everyday American citizens did not have access to clean water at the fault of their government, millions became outraged. Everyone chimed in from Black Lives Matter protestors, to the President and even Presidential candidates. The problem? The Flint water crisis started in April 2014 and is still ongoing (Robbins, 2016). But, when was the last time you heard of the crisis in the news? One of the biggest social problem facing America is that we only care of an issue for as long as it stays in the news. We have become a society of being bandwagon activist and only being very passionate about an issue that is currently in the media. Once the issue has received its 15 minutes of fame, it is on the next trending issue. The problem with this is that so many more issues are caused because of the lack of attention. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the impact of Flint water crisis. We know of the high exposure to lead the residence are facing and the sickness coming from it, but what was not reported is how drugs to help treat severe lead poisoning grew 7200% in the last few years, peaking during the crisis.
