3. Comparing Two Theories Of Moral Relativism
The difference between a right action and a wrong action plays a key role in many theories in
philosophy. Morality is an important aspect of life and majority of our actions are dependent on
doing what is moral or immoral. Moral relativism is the theory that defines whether an action is
considered moral or immoral. There are two forms of moral relativism, cultural relativismand
individual relativism, which are two theories about the moralityof our actions. The two theories of
moral relativism provide a reasoning for the justification of moral or immoral actions. However,
these theories also present various contradictions that undermine the theories central ideas.
Individual relativism differs from cultural relativism because it... Show more content on

One criticism of cultural relativism is that it would not be acceptable to say that another society s
customs are inferior to our own. If morality is based on a culture s rules, it would be hypocritical
to tell another culture that what they are doing is wrong. It cannot be acceptable for one culture to
consider their own culture superior by believing that their set of rules is the true guidance for
morality. I believe this criticism raises an important issue. Since morality is constituted by different
rules for different cultures, there is no way of knowing what they ultimate truth is about what
actions are considered moral or immoral if one thing can be considered good in one society, but
bad in another. Individual relativism has also been challenged because it states the idea that the
morality of our actions can be determined by our own thoughts and intuitions. However, the
criticism is that how can establish morality by our own thinking if different people have conflicting
ideas. I agree with this criticism. There would be no certain way of legitimately establishing the
morality of an action if that were the

Catch 22, copyright page). At the time of release it received nominations for best book of the
year ( 1962 National Book Awards Winners and Finalists, The National Book Foundation. ). The
author s purpose with his book was to provide interesting commentary on war how ugly and crazy
war can be but told in a humorous and satirical fashion. He also showed how it could drive people
to insanity. Historically the book stirred up controversy at the time of release for the book s
shocking graphic material. It help influence readers to question authority, question the Vietnam War

5. Neurotic Imposture
The Dangers of Feeling Like a Fake by Manfred F. R. Kets de Vries showed how faking it til you
make it can lead to damaging a person and their career, especially if they re a victim to neurotic
imposture. A person who has neurotic imposture feels as though they don t deserve success and
that they are basically fakes or impostors. This article begins with a story about a man by the
name of Tobin Holmes who feared he couldn t take on his job s responsibilities because he wasn
t good enough. Tobin felt he was an imposter and would be exposed for who he truly was.
Neurotic imposture can take toll over successful people and turn their life for the worse; a
success into a failure. Vries explained, to some extent, of course, we are all impostors . As
humans we take on the roles that try to show a different side to others publicly and then a private,
different life. Neurotic impostors suffer more by feeling alone than others and they are located at
all levels of an organization.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For neurotic impostors, positive achievements and efforts must be shown at early stages in order
to prevent the sense of always being a failure and never being able to get the job done. It s not
necessarily the point of getting the job done it s the thought of how to get it done or actually being
the right person to do it. Neurotic imposture is more than bluffing but it s a serious case that can
alter an individual s life because they are constantly feeling unequal to the next person. Everyone
has had a time where they felt they weren t able to complete a task, but by having neurotic
imposture a person will always feel they can t compete with the next person even if the person is
already highly qualified for their position. In this case, faking it til you make it will have a person
regretting their life choices, abilities, and will create a disastrous life when having a

7. What A Railgun Is It Functions, And Why It Was Created
This research paper will show and illustrate the basics of what a railgun is, how it functions, and
why it was created. From there, it will further explicitly explain some of electromagnetics and
physics that dictate the machine and its operation. Finally, a few of the arduous problems as well as
what impact the railgun might have in our future is explained.
I. Introduction
By definition, a railgun is a weapon consisting of a pair of parallel conductive rails, using a
magnetic field and electric current to launch projectiles at very high velocity (1). In other words,
a railgun is an physical apparatus that uses the basic laws of electromagnetics by taking the flow
of current through a loop to generate a Lorentz force on a bullet like projectile, which then
propels it at an extremely high velocity. The method used to generate power in some DC motors
uses this same electromagnetic theory. The concept of railguns has grown tremendously in
popularity in the past couple decades, especially after the idea of this type of weapon was shown
in various television shows and movies. The fact that makes a railgun so unique, is that no
combustion process has to take place in order for the projectile to be fired. The inefficiency of
railguns, however, has highly prohibited its further research and development.
II. Body
Almost ninety five years ago, in 1918, the French inventor named Louis Octave Fauchon Villeplee
designed the first railgun prototype. By connecting two parallel

clinical responses to targeted therapies, such as TNF blockers, T cell costimulation inhibitors,

mechanism that applies to all patients (21). Inhibition of adjuvant induced arthritis (AIA) in rats
is one of the most suitable test procedures to screen anti arthritic agents since it closely resembles
human arthritis (22). The present study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of the use of MPEE

Moreover, previous study demonstrated that the effect of thymol, a natural monoterpene phenol
primarily found in mandarin peel, on anti inflammation not only comes from the expression of
inflammatory cytokines but also from the iNOS and COX 2 pathway. The promising anti
inflammatory effect of thymol may involve in the inhibition of NF ОєB and MAPK signaling
pathways (26). TNF О± being a key inflammatory mediator triggers an increase in synovial
proliferation and also production of other secondary mediators. TNF О± also induces osteoclast
differentiation. Overproduction of TNF О± in affected joint causes a cascade of secondary
mediators involved in the recruitment of inflammatory cells which leads to joint destruction (27).
The actions of IL 1ОІ include induction of knee joint inflammation, cartilage damage and bone
resorption (28). Cyclooxygenase (COX) is strongly induced by IL 1ОІ and plays an important role
in the pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore, down regulation of pro inflammatory
cytokines and NF ОєB may be an appropriate therapeutic strategy for rheumatoid arthritis (29). The
current study revealed increased serum levels of both IL 1ОІ and TNF О± in the RA control
groups. These results run parallel to several reports showed that progression of RA is accelerated
by pro inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. TNF О± and IL 1ОІ are reported to be associated
with the progression of RA (30). Also, it was observed significantly high levels of IL 1ОІ

9. The Impact Of Islamic Law On The Development Of Third...
Religion is a set of moral beliefs and values that are created through historical affiliations. It
provides order and structure for the followers of that religious institution. Often times, religious
teachings and holy doctrines are misinterpreted and misused towards a political organization and
are used as a way to obtain submissive behaviour among persons in society. There are multiple
factors that impede on the development of third world countries as these specific countries are still
in the process of developing its political empire. Its economic state is known to be underdeveloped
thus recognizing the country as being in the third world or developing. This is particularly directed
towards Middle Eastern countries relying on the teachings of Islamthat pressure their religious
beliefs and values into the politics and the influence it has among the political system. This creates
a barrier which disallows further success in the society, and their ability to progress towards a
democratic culture becomes limited. Islamic law poses significance to the lack of democratic
culture as it constitutes instruction that hinders the development and liberty of Islamic based
countries. It is evident that religious regulations and democracy form a barrier known as the
democracy gap. Other impediments factor in, such as the lack of political participation, and voicing
opinion among women in third world countries due to societal norms that are formulated through
religious laws. In this

11. The Rate Of Preterm Birth Essay
For when a child is born the mother is also born again, has been rightfully quoted by Gilbert
Parker (Gilbert Parker, n.d.). Childbirth is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could
have and we, as women, should feel proud to be major contributors for it. Thus, a mother has to
play a key role in aiding the healthcare workers to mitigate the health crisis associated with
childbirthby performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health crisis is Premature
(preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of gestational
period (CDC, 2015). The rate of preterm birth ranges from 5% to 18% of babies born across 184
countries (WHO, 2015). Premature birth is an important public health priority in terms of
health of women and infants. Every year an estimated 15 million preterm babies are born and
this number is still rising (WHO, 2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were
premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and
Asian/Pacific islander infants (CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to
complications of premature birth (WHO, 2015). Major survivors face lifelong disabilities like
learning disabilities, hearing, visual, feeding, digestive, breathing and respiratory problems (CDC,
2015) and low birth weight (March of Dimes, 2014). A major challenge in decreasing the rate of
preterm birth is

12. Examples Of Diction In Beowulf
Beowulf speaks volumes about the ways of life during the Anglo Saxon period. It is to England
what Homer s Odyssey and Iliad are to Greece. It is, as some call it, the mother poem of England.
This mother poem has been passed down through oral tradition for numerous years and scholars
believe that an educated Christian monk transcribed the poem, preserving it in written form.
Beowulfhas survived for nearly 1,300 years due to how well it conveys the Anglo Saxon culture
and the unique characteristics of the poem in its imagery, tone, style and diction. This epic poem
depicts picturesque imagery of various kinds. It is acutely gruesome in many instances, such as the
battle with Grendel and the description of hell s captive and his mother. The... Show more content

With much alliteration, imaginative kennings, and caesura. The narrator uses strong alliteration
and does so quite intricately, using single, double and triple alliterations at points throughout the
poem; such as in lines 30 32, Then, when darkness had dropped, Grendel / Went up to Herot,
wondering what the warriors / Would do in that hall when their drinking was done. (L. 30 32)
The narrator frequently uses kennings in this poem. A kenning in Anglo Saxon literature is a
metaphorical phrase or compound word that names an event, person, place, or thing indirectly.
There are four different types of kennings that the narrator uses within Beowulf which are
prepositional phrase (ex. shepherd of evil = Grendel, guardian of crime = Grendel), hyphenated
compound (ex. sea road = the ocean, ring giver = king), possessive (ex. God s bright beacon =
the sun), and open compound (ex. wakeful sleeper = Beowulf) kennings. A unique quality of the
style of Beowulf is caesura, which is seen in nearly every line within the poem. Caesura is a
characteristic of Old English poetry; it is a pause or a break within a line of poetry and it is usually
indicated by the natural rhythm of the language. Alliteration coincides with caesura; usually the
first stressed syllable before the caesura alliterates with the first stressed syllable after the

Implied Powers are powers not listed in the Constitution. They come from and depend on expressed
powers of the government. The basis for implied powers comes from the necessary and proper

government enhance its authority to meet the many problems and situations that the Framers

Brian Arundel, E.B White, and Nostalgia. Brian Arundel and E.B White express the idea that
both their writing styles convey similar emotions. The Things that I ve lost and Once more to the
lake is best described as nostalgia. They re both talking about their main past and is why they tell
stories about reminiscing. There are three main parts that help express this idea. The first aspect is
that Arundel stays with the nostalgia. The meaning of this is that he points out is his desires to
return in his thoughts or in his life. The second aspect is that White loses the element of nostalgia
and his main focus is on his son. The meaning of this is that he loses his nostalgia and focuses on

17. Emily Dickinson s Different Views On Death
Emily Dickinson s Different Views on Death Death is inevitable, although many of us push it to
the back of our heads its eventually going to happen. Poet Emily Dickinson accepted this, and
enjoyed writing over half of her poems about death. We all think about death in different ways it
scares a lot of us, but those of us who are religious look forward to the afterlife in heaven, and are
grateful for the mortal life that we lived. Therefore, some of these poems depicted deathas being a
lonely ominous journey, while other poems displayed death as being an enjoyable ride from one
life to another. Dickinson changes her views on death as she grows older, and seems to be less
fearful of death. We can see this in her poems with the similar theme of death in, I heard a fly buss

19. Anna Karenina Analysis
Anna Karenina is a story told in three locations: the two Russian major cities of Moscow and St.
Petersburg and the rural countryside. Each location holds special connotations that are reflected in
events and characters that live there. Tolstoy, a fan of the countryside himself, uses the lives of
Levin and, to a lesser extent, Kitty to illustrate the moral superiority of the countryside over its
more urban counterparts. On the other end of the spectrum is St. Petersburg, a city of superficiality
and immorality; the negative implications of this location is portrayed through the lives and tragic
downfalls of St. Petersburg natives and inhabitants Anna and Vronsky. Finally, the city of Moscow
is portrayed as an area in between the two extremes. Inferior to the glorious countryside but
superior to the sinful St. Petersburg, Moscow is a romantic city. It is a city of wavering moralityand
short lived dreams; it is portrayed through the lives of the Oblonsky family, and to a lesser extent,
Anna and Vronsky s temporary bliss together. The three locations in Anna Kareninathe moral
countryside, immoral St. Petersburg, and ambiguous Moscow are vital in developing the noveland
its characters by adding another subtle layer to one s understanding of the text. Anna Karenina s
treatment of the countryside serves to illustrate its moral superiority, as shown with the character of
Levin and, to some extent, his wife Kitty. Straightaway, when the reader first meets Levin, a strong

population of animals in the Everglades by so much that people are beginning to worry about what

Burmese Pythons are definitely astonishing creatures. Native to Southeast Asia s version of the

adolescents that could make the situations worse (Mullen 166 Padilla Walker et al. 1153). With the
use of case studies and articles, this essay will address the privacy concerns of adolescents and the
importance of regulating media content by parental monitoring. The term media should be taken in
the context of television, video games, social media, and the internet. I will argue that parental
media monitoring can help parents supervise their children, promote positive behaviour, and
provide disciplined upbringing while maintaining adolescences independence and aiding them to
develop advanced practical skills that will come in use in a media run world. Parental monitoring
is one of the most useful techniques to supervise children s media content in the effort to protect
them from bad influences and wrong decisions; although, the biggest drawback is that monitoring
diminishes privacy for adolescents. Supervision allows the parents or guardians to control and limit
specific content that deems to be inappropriate for their children, especially in today s generation;
for example, adolescents may be

22. The Effect Of Temperature And Ph On The Enzyme Activity Of...
The Impact of Temperature and pH on the Enzyme Activity of Catechol Oxidase in Solanum
Tuberosum Samples Abstract The role of an enzyme is to catalyse reactions within a cell. The
enzyme present in a potato (Solanum Tuberosum) is catechol oxidase. In this experiment, the
enzyme activity was tested under different temperature and pH conditions. The objective of this
experiment was to determine the ideal conditions under which catechol oxidase catalyses
reactions. In order to do this, catechol was catalyzed by catechol oxidase into benzoquinone at
diverse temperatures and pH values. The enzyme was exposed to its new environment for 5
minutes before the absorbance of the catechol oxidase was measured at 420 nm using a
spectrophotometer. The use of a spectrophotometer was crucial for the collection of data in this
experiment. When exposed to hot and cold temperatures, some enzymes were found to denature
causing the activity to decrease. Similarly, when the pH was too high or low, then the catechol
oxidase enzyme experienced a significant decrease in activity. It can be concluded after completing
this experiment that the optimal pH for catechol oxidase is 7 and that the prime temperature is
20Вє C. Due to the fact that the catechol oxidase was only tested under several different
temperatures and pH values, it is always possible to get a more precise result by decreasing the
increments between the test values. However, our experiment was able to produce accurate results

Mildred Pierce is a woman that s tied down by the social norms of the 30s where women have to
be attached to a man in order to be anything or have anything. Women at the time don t really have
a chance in the workplace. They were expected to be housewives and attended their husbands wants

unemployed cheating husband. Whom she kicked out and was left alone to support her two
children on her own. As the story progresses, we see the approaches that Mildred takes in order

Mildred first tries to find a suitable suitor that may help her become financially stable. During that
time if women couldn t find a job there first option was to find a husband and remarry in order to

24. Tomorrow When The War Began Essay
Title:Tomorrow When the War Began
Author:John Marsden
Date Completed:25 March 2015
In the novel, Tomorrow When the War Began, there is an invasion on a small rural town in
Australia. A group of young teens are out camping and manage to avoid capture. The discovery that
their friends and families have been captured ignites them on a crusade to do what they can to
liberate their town.
The key idea in the text that is significant to me is about the importance of strong teamwork and
leadership in surprising circumstances.
In the book the group decided that Homer should be their leader. He was a self appointed leader
but no one had any objections. The commanding figure of Homer united the group and created a
team, as opposed to a group of friends. That was Homers genius He combined action with
thought, and he planned ahead. The group, under the guidance of Homer, began to understand
that they either had to work together to live, or work separately, and get captured or killed. We
ve got to stick together, that s all I know. The following quote shows how Homer has adapted and
stepped up to become a leader when he was needed most. You keep going like this, you ll loose
your reputation. Aren t you meant to be just a wild and crazy guy? I believe that confidence is
an important characteristic of a good leader and means people will look up to you. I also believe
that being able to take risks, like Homer does, is an important part of becoming a great leader.

It is very unfortunate that the youth of the world today do not know how little things such as where
the trumpet came from has affected society and possibly the way they live there own life.
Today the trumpet is used for making music in many different kinds of musical situations. It is
used in musicals with other instruments for theme music as well as dance music. The modern
day trumpet is also used in marching bands, concert bands, as well as jazz bands. My favorite
setting where the trumpet is used is brass choir, where only two trumpets are used along with a
trombone, tuba, and French horn. There are so many venues that the trumpet is used that many do
not think about, such as rock bands and even country bands. When most people think of the
trumpet, they think of marching bands or concert bands, but in reality the trumpet has a much
wider variety that it is used for in today s world than many think. According to Edward Tarr in his
book titled, The Trumpet, he explains that the use of an instrument called a trumpa was used and
was locally referred to as a tubae. As Richard was pausing in Sicily before setting out for Palestine,

After the crowing of the new king, sickness begins to infiltrate throughout the land. What was once
a healthy and strong nation suddenly becomes stricken with terror and misfortunes. Macbeth
portrays sickness throughout the play, infecting everyone who he comes in contact with. On the
other hand Edward, the king of England, preserves and strengthens those who come to seek asylum

country is slowing increasing in sickness fueled by the actions of Macbeth. Those who are still in
the land describe it as, ...free from our feasts and banquets bloody knives, do faithful homage and

Elizabeth Barrett Browning began her poetry career at a young age and continued to write until
her death. A fiercely political mind, Browning wrote The Cry of the Children as a girl in protest
of child labor in factories during the Industrial Revolution. She also wrote A Curse for a Nation , a
notable poem for its condemnation of American slavery. Through her political writing, Browning
used her voice as a poet to give women a mouthpiece on issues affecting them. Most importantly,
however, are Browning s romantic poems, almost all of which are influenced by her husband and
fellow poet, Robert Browning. In Sonnet 43, How Do I Love Thee? for example, Browning

Indeed Simon Avery notes, Elizabeth Barrett Browning was one of the great experimenters in
19th century poetry. By the time of her marriage to Robert Browning in September 1846, she
was recognised internationally for her often innovative and challenging verse and was heralded
by many as one of the most accomplished poets of the period. Browning s first major poem, The
Battle of Marathon, was written as an epic and included vivid depictions of the gore of war.
Many critics note that her first poem characterized her bold and daring style as many novice
poets would not think to write an epic to begin their poetic career. Once again borrowing from
the romanticism of her time, Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote many poems as a ballads.
Although however, as noted by Simon Avery, Browning never concretely followed any one style.
She manipulated the ballad to highlight the plight of women in the Victorian era. Later in her

34. Social Psychology, The Social Identity
Within social psychology, the social identity tradition (Tajfel, Billig, Bundy, Flament, 1971) argues
that individuals possess more than their characteristic personal identities, which are activated
during interpersonal contact with others; in addition, people can engage in intergroup behavior as
informed by their social identities (Gudykunst Bond, 1980). Such social identities comprise
memberships in any psychologically relevant grouping with which an individual identifies,
including kin, peers, profession, nation, and cultural identity(Galang, QuiГ±ones, Adriano, Portillo,
Carvajal, 2015). The ingroup identification afforded by social identities then allows individuals to
distinguish between people belonging to and excluded from the ingroup (Brewer Yuki, 2007), and
to bolster one s self concept through affiliation with high status groups and individuals (Gudykunst
Bond, 1980). In addition, these social identities are created and manifested in different ways across
cultures as a function of the values endorsed by society, the ways in which society s members
construe themselves, and the manners in which their interpersonal relationships are structured
(Feitosa, Salas, Salazar, 2012).
Moreover, social identity theory (SIT) has been invoked as an explanation for a social
psychological phenomenon introduced in Robert Cialdini and his colleagues (1976) research:
basking in reflected glory (BIRG). As reflected in the opening quote, individuals are able to

It s Art, But Only if You Say So Art is powerful. It has the ability to stir up violence or promote
peace, mend relationships or tear ones apart. But how can just a couple of different colored lines
create such a difference? It s our interpretation, sometimes despite the artist s intention, that give art
its power. And there are some activists under the guise of artists (or vice versa) who intend to evoke

These political artists are on a journey to get a point across in society. To display their art on the

In an exclusive interview with Juxtapoz magazine, Banksy, most likely the most popular
anonymous artist (how ironic is that), commented on how he qualifies his work as succeeding,
saying I m at a point with art where I only really care if the piece is more than the sum of its
parts. I m lucky because what I make either succeeds or fails. Some people undoubtedly would

objective is displaying issues prevalent within the populous. His persona reflects an out of body
experience within society, allowing him to be sarcastic on heated topics and not being taken as a
criminal but regarded as an intellectual. By acting higher than the society these artists are in, their
work is perceived by the public to be higher than just vandalism. And that is where therein lies the

but his humor is coarse, suggestive and often paradoxical. His description is very precise and his
skills of narration made Kittredge call him the greatest of all narrative poets, without any boundary

any scope for independent development, Chaucer on the other hand, very intelligently, chose to be

of his characters. Similar techniques were adopted by writers like William Shakespeare and

41. The Importance Of Selecting And Finding Vendorss
Selecting and finding vendors can be a varied process depending on whether you are a large
corporation like Kohl s or a boutique that might be a small local shop. For this assignment, I
identify the business as an independent boutique. One thing to keep in mind about the selection
of vendors is that loyalty is key for both the wholesaler/vendor and the retailer. While there are a
handful of different types of vendors, certain kinds work best for a boutique. A wholesaler is
ideal for boutique. Because you would have to order a large amount of product from a
manufacturer, the wholesaler does that for you, which is why they are referred to has a merchant

It is called Atlanta Ultimate Women s Expo. Both of these would be perfect places to attend to
look at merchandise and make real contacts. Merchandise and prices offered, vendors distribution
policies, vendors reputation and reliability, and terms and services offered, are all things you need
to analyze before setting your business up with a vendor. The most vital decision when starting a
business is figuring out what products you want to sell, therefore, your wholesale vendor should
offer the right merchandise for your boutique, but still be in your price range. Without those,
your boutique will be out of luck. Another crucial decision a small boutique might decide to
make is the action of exclusive distribution. If I want my boutique to be incredibly unique and
unlike anything around me, this would be a smart idea. Even with the few things mentioned, you
might not be off the hook if your vendor has a bad reputation. It is a possibility that it could hold
back your business from growing, which is damaging in the ever evolving fashion industry.
Knowing what you are signing up for is your best option for establishing the perfect vendor; Look
at their offered services as well as the terms on exchange. Last, but not least, you need to analyze
both your current and potential vendors performance. There are

43. Literary Analysis Of Classical Landscape By Charles Sheeler
Classical landscape by Charles Sheeler is an exterior oil on canvas of the Estate of Mrs. Edsel
B. Ford, Grosse Pointe Farms (figure 1) filled with deep, hidden irony. It was painted in 1931,
and is based on a watercolor study. It s a calm, clean, and serene painting that takes your breath
away. It s depicting a place someone would want to be in, a place where things get done, and a
place where one can go to achieve this idea of the American dream. Charles Sheeler used
American industry as a major theme of his art, his work lends itself to an analysis in terms of
geometric forms he examines his subject matter so closely in order to fully understand the
composition, the effect, and the design he wants to depict. Sheeler painted the plant s exterior as
an idyll, a beautiful, picturesque scene of the industrial age booming; however, in reality the
United States was in the middle of the worst years of the Great Depression. Therefore, this painting
done in Sheeler s hyper realistic artistic style is not actually depicting what the factory actually
looked like.
He is using his photographs to distort and change the perspective in order to better suit his patrons.
Charles s Sheeler is a commissioned artist. Classical Landscape was commissioned by Edsel Ford
in order to promote the Ford Company and increase the overall feelings toward industrialization .
Sheeler achieved this due to Classical Landscapes light color palette, clean lines, reduced forms, and
intense knowledge of the subject matter, his painting only hints at the machines domination of
humankind , allowing for viewers to look at the painting and feel comforted by the lack of human
presence but not overwhelmed by it. Sheeler s depiction of industrialization lacked human presence.
This was uncommon at the time, and created a very different effect than other artists did. He
focused on the building in isolation rather than on the hectic activity around the assembly line this
switched the focus form not on the people of America but on the technological advances and the
progress America was making. Looking further into the painting s subject matter, it is intriguing to
see that Sheeler chose to depict something on cite that dealt with the

45. Service Breadth And Reliability Of Intermodal Service
Intermodal service evolves
The full range of interdependent intermodal (IMDL) transportation and distribution services have
evolved in recent years and now offer the service breadth and reliability necessary to play an
important part in domestic and global supply chains.
Intermodal was once a slow trailers on rails alternative to inter city trucking with less than
dependable transit times typically available only between limited sets of origin and destination
cities. The service was not integrated with other transportation and distribution components of the
supply chain.
Today, intermodal offers dependable, flexible and cost effective linehaul, dray and transload options
for large and small shippers moving products through logistics networks, whether across North
America between major population centers, or as final miles distribution of an international supply
chain. Increasingly, Intermodal is being leveraged by shippers over relatively short distances at a
cost that s competitive with OTR (Over The Road) trucking service and with scheduled and reliable
transit times.
Intermodal s value proposition for shippers centers around the concept of using multiple,
coordinated and highly managed transportation and distribution services. These services consist of
off dock and terminal drayage, ocean container to domestic equipment transloading, rail linehaul
and destination drayage to effect efficient, cost effective and risk managed supply chains. The

Ziggurat of Ur and Stepped Pyramid of Djoser: A Comparison Joseph Katz Art History 100 26 Dr.

Title: Ziggurat of Ur
Period: Neo Sumerian
Provenance: Ur, Iraq
Date: 2150 BC
The Ziggurat of Ur was built in 2150 BC by the Gutians. First, let s discuss what exactly a ziggurat
is. A ziggurat is a superstructure built on top and around a mountain. On the very top was a
temple. Ziggurats were made out of only mud brick. One may ask, why use mud brick?
Compared to other materials such as limestone it is a terribly weak building material. The reason
was because of the location of Ur. Ur did not have limestone anywhere near it so mud brick was
the practical choice. Viewed from the outside, the giant mud ... Show more content on

There were also tunnels leading to hundreds of rooms. This was not merely a tomb but also a place
where King Djoser could live in the afterlife. The pyramid was built in the middle of a
necropolis, which literally means, city of the dead in Greek. Surrounding the necropolis is a
limestone wall to keep out everyone except a very select few. There were many other structures
in the necropolis such as: Temples, courtyards, and pavilions. However, most of the buildings
were filled with rubble or sand and were just for show. The building of pyramids kept all of the
people in the surrounding cities busy and working. These kinds of structures were great for
Egyptian economy. There are many similarities and differences between the Ziggurat of Ur, and
Stepped Pyramid of Djoser. Each level of the Stepped Pyramid bears a structural resemblance to
the Ziggurat of Ur. While the two structures may look slightly a like they re purposes are very
different. Stepped Pyramid of Djoser is a tomb for the fallen King, and the Ziggurat of Ur in a
temple. The Pyramid was set in a necropolis with a big surrounding wall while the Ziggurat was
built in the center of a city and was very open and welcoming. Another big difference is the
building materials. The Pyramid was built out of durable limestone while the Ziggurat was built
out of flimsy mud brick. The Ziggurat temple was washed away by years of sand abuse while the

Question 4: What is the frequency of the communication between the different management levels?
How does it take place? Officially? Unofficially?
From the very top, our CEO holds quarterly meetings with all employees to cover the status of the
company. The management team also holds a more numbers based meeting with all management

Very little from the middle managers makes it down to the next levels of employees. This company

Question 5: At what level does the communication flow to the lowest level of the organization?
It will come from three places with varying quality. First is the quarterly meeting with the CEO.
This is a very high level of company information that is shared. Second, there are random posting
boards that Human Resources will place various information on. Third, the direct Supervisors will
conduct employee meetings. This last one seems to be sporadic and not as consistent as it should
be, and with some Supervisors not conducted at all.

48. How Did Pope Leo XIII Impact The Society
The Influence of Pope Leo XIII
Having new opportunities in life is exciting, but when those opportunities become the obstacle to
pursue happiness, life may lose its meaning. Something similar happened during the industrial
revolution when society changed. However, the church was present to advocate for those whose
happiness was taken away. Pope Leo XIII marked the history of society by writing the Rerum
Novarum Encyclical during the industrial revolution. While the industrial revolution transformed
the history of the world with the creation of new factories, it also changed society by originating
two classes, the wealthy and the poor. Pope Leo XIII, saw that advantages and disadvantages of the
industrial revolution and decided to convey the injustices happening at that time. Pope Leo XIII
used the scripture and reason of natural law to argue about the common goods and the rights of the
workers.
Sharing benefits between members of the community is a principle that Pope Leo XIII transmitted
in his encyclical. The church has always been on behalf of the poor. For that reason
Pope Leo XIII used that Bible as a way to support his idea of the common good. He cited, There
was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned land or houses sold them and brought
the proceeds of what was sold. (Acts 4:34). This passage supports his idea of the common good
through a spiritual interpretation with a moral lesson, which encourages the wealthy people to help

51. South Dakota V. Dole s Four Rules
Since its founding, the United States Supreme Court has misconstrued the Constitution on
countless occasions. More acutely, however, the Court has failed to respect the Tenth Amendment
time and time again. Ratified in December of 1791, the Amendment says, The powers not
delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved
to the States respectively, or to the people. The Court proved its lack of respect and recognition to
Amendment X when it ruled South Dakota v. Dole in 1987. In 1984, Congress amended the
Federal Aid Highway Act, adding a conditional clause that would require Secretary of
Transportation, then Elizabeth Dole, to withhold 10% of a state s federal highway funds if the state

The first, he said, was that the conditional clause must be for the pursuit of general welfare.
However, he deferred to Congress to determine what constitutes general welfare. The second aspect
was that Congress provide unambiguous procedure to states and allow states to have a choice in the
matter. Because Congress had provided clear procedural notifications to states and states had a
choice between accepting the condition and getting full federal funding or rejecting Congress
request and receiving decreased funding, the condition put forth by Congress is permissible. The
third facet was that the conditions must be related to a federal interest, in particular national
projects or programs. This, Rehnquist said, was evidently related to the national commitment to
have safe interstate travel. Lastly, the condition itself must not be unconstitutional. That is,
Congress cannot put forth a condition that, for instance, demands that states discriminate against a

It is not unknown the discrimination towards the black race, especially African Americans during

two African Americans were arrested after being suspects in a robbery, murder and rape case.
Nowadays Lawrence Bittler s photography has become an iconic image of lynching. Although it
was originally a written poem, American blues jazz singer Billie Holiday performed it as a protest

Friar in Canterbury Tales Chaucer s attitude towards the friar is one of sarcasm. The friar is
wanton and merry, but this pleasant sounding description is actually packed with mockery. By
the 14th century, friars, who were supposed to give up all worldly things and live only by
begging for food and alms, were almost totally corrupt. They were known for flattering the rich
and deceiving the poor, and especially for seducing women in outright disregard for their vow of
celibacy. Chaucer s Friar, Hubert, is a limiter, one who is licensed to beg in a certain area. He s

He knows all the bars and is more familiar with barmaids and innkeepers than the lepers or

it s not right for someone of Hubert s profession to be acquainted with lepers, since after all there s
