John Steinbeck, depicts the unfortunate tale of two men traveling in search of labor. Lennie Small,
and George Milton, born and raised in Auburn, settle in Salinas valley making their living as ranch
hands. Conflict arises as Lennie struggles to heed George s words and eventually Lennie suffers his
downfall at the hand of his best friend. John Steinbeck used foreshadowing in, Of Mice and Men, to
express and reveal the sentiments behind characters actions and personalities throughout the

Ever since I was a little kid I have always responded positively to music. It has consistently been
my go to for personal expression. Whether it is listening or writing, I have always tended to
gravitate towards different songs and rhythms as an emotional outlet. I believe some of my

This study is a comparison of three alternative bolus materials to Superflab in providing the
maximum dose buildup (Dmax). Superflab is a synthetic oil gel based on vinyl plastic composed
of disodecyl phthalate. The maximum dose buildup (Dmax) is when 100% of the dose is deposited
beneath a patient s skin. Alternative bolus materials are tissue equivalent materials placed on a
patient s skin surface to increase or even out the surface dose. The composition of alternative bolus
materials can include anything from wet gauze to Play Doh to rice. The purpose of this study is to
test the Dmax for various bolus materials when compared to Superflab.
Walker et al. (2005) performed this study to determine the differences in producing the maximum
dose buildup while using Play Doh, water soaked gauze, and Superflab. The researchers wanted to
determine if Play Doh and water soaked gauze were adequate alternatives to Superflab. At the
beginning they accurately measured the radiation doses to be less than 10.0 cGy. Next, they made
each bolus material 5 mm thick and then placed TLDs at the center of the beam where they placed
each bolus and irradiated them 5 times each. Then, they calculated the mean dose, standard ... Show

The Comparison and Contrast of Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath The two poems, And One for My
Dame by Anne Sexton and Daddy by Sylvia Plath, both explore similar themes through the use of
literary elements such as structure, tone and symbolism. Structures in each poem are alike with
length but differ with the actual form. The tone Plath conveys is negative one while Sexton s is
more neutral. The symbolism in Daddy was also negative with symbols of the devil but Sexton used
a nursery rhyme as a symbol. The connotations of these elements reflect the image the daughters
had of their fathers but also the relationships. These poems also both deal with the theme of ... Show
The tone associated with suicide and bad communication is not positive because these are not
happy things and consequently, with Plath mentioning these, the poem takes on a dark tone
which reflects her relationship with her father. On the other hand, Sexton creates a tone that is
much lighter by using words that have neutral or positive connotations. Her choice of diction
does not hint either way whether her relationship with her father was good or bad, it seems to
stay neutral which reflects her objective tone throughout the poem. She begins to introduce him
as a born salesman in line 1 and a born talker in line 4, which at most, infers that he was a
charismatic person (1,4). Sexton goes on to list everything he was in line 15 stating he was a
peddler, a hawker, a merchant and an Indian Chief (15). By these descriptions her father does not
appear to be out of the ordinary. He was just a traveler, committed to his work and not much else.
The way she describes him also seems to be observational so possibly her relationship with him was
distanced and unattached. Therefore, the tone echoes the theme that the relationship she had with
her father because their relationship was disconnected and that was the emotion provoked as she
remembered him. In addition to structure and tone, the authors both use symbolism to connect to

Throughout history, the law has been violated repeatedly. Crime and Punishment is not an
unknown system of the world. Every state has their own set of laws that are different and similar
to other states. The law has changed several times throughout history, adapting to the situation and
the beliefs of the nations it dictates. These set of rules guide people s actions and lives to protect
them, their rights and the other citizens of their nation. These rules are sometimes challenged and
changed because of people who dared to argue against a specific law. There are cases that are
