Diabetes Mellitus Essay
Diabetes Mellitus
Is a multisystem disease related to abnormal insulin production, impaired insulin utilization, or both.
Diabetes Mellitus is a serious health problem throughout the world. It is the 5th leading cause of
death in the U.S. It is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, adult blindness, and nontraumatic
lower limb amputations.
Etiology and Pathophysiology
Current theories link the cause of diabetes, singly or in combination, to genetic, autoimmune, viral,
and environmental factors (obesity, stress). Regardless of its cause, diabetes is primarily a disorder
of glucose metabolism related to absent or insufficient insulin supplies and/or poor utilization of the
insulin that is available. The two most common types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rise in plasma insulin after a meal stimulates storage of glucose as glycogen in liver and
muscle, inhibits gluconeogenesis, enhances fat deposition in adipose tissue, and increases protein
synthesis. The fall in insulin level during normal overnight fasting facilitates the release of stored
glucose from the liver, protein form muscle, and fat from adipose tissue. For this reason insulin is
known as the anabolic or storage hormone.
Skeletal muscle and adipose tissue have specific receptors for insulin and are considered insulin
dependent tissues. Other tissues (brain, liver, blood cells) do not directly depend on insulin for
glucose transport but require an adequate glucose supply for normal function. Although liver cells
are not considered insulin dependent tissue, insulin receptor sites on the liver facilitate the hepatic
uptake of glucose and its conversion to glycogen.
Type I Diabetes Mellitus
Formally known as quot;juvenile onset quot; or quot;insulin dependent quot; diabetes, type I
diabetes mellitus most often occur in people who are under 30 years of age, with a peak onset
between ages 11 and 13. The rate of type I diabetes is 1.5 to 2 times higher in whites than
nonwhites, with a similar incidence among males and females. Typically, it is seen in people with
a lean body type, although it can occur in people who are overweight.
Etiology and Pathophysiology
Type I diabetes results from progressive destruction of

Richard Wilbur s The Death Of A Toad
Richard Wilbur s poem, The Death of a Toad, powerfully describes the death of a toad chewed and
clipped by a power mower in a gardening accident. Wilbur extends the incident to be metaphoric
and symbolic of death and our inability to prevent it. The poem reflects on the appearance and
thoughts that even a toad might have when approaching death. As the speaker ponders over the
incident it becomes clear that the toads death is seen as more than just death itself but rather this
mystical journey from start to finish.
The poem is divided into three stanzas, each with six lines of varying lengths. The form and
balance of the stanzas create a visual and formal precision. Each stanza tells of the events in a
chronological sequence starting with

D1. ROS, ROA, ROE, Leverage, Sales, Profits
* Return on Sales (ROS) ROS is the percentage of each dollar of sales that is left as a profit. For
example if a company has $100 in revenue and $20 in profit, at the end of the period they have a
ROS of 20%. ROS is best used when compared to other companies within the same industry. This
is because different industries can have different levels of ROS depending on the
competitiveness level. Competiveness can drive prices down overall in the industry, which will
drive down ROS for all companies. A high ROS can indicate premium pricing in the industry or
great efficiency where as a low ROS can be an indicator of financial trouble such as a company
slashing prices just to garner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Able could have sold an additional 0.2% of the market segment units of 14,937 and
Acre an additional 1.9% of the market of 21,715 units. Doing that math for each product and
applying the sales price and contribution margin shows a potential increase in sales of $74,484 (a
32% increase) and a margin increase of $26,286 (126% increase). This would have increase our
ROS from 9.0% to 15.5%, which would have been tops in the industry.
By improving a forecast and production synergy, we will be able to capture closer to our market
sales potential which will keep our inventory carry costs down and our ROS up.
* Return on assets (ROA) ROA shows how successful a company is in generating profits on the
amount of assets they own. Since assets consist of debt and equity, ROA is a measure of how
well a company converts investment dollars into profit. The higher the percentage, the more
profit a company is generating per dollar of investment. Similar to ROS, this ratio needs to be
looked at compared to the industry as different industries have different requirements that can
affect ROA. For example, companies in the airline and mining industries need expensive assets to
operate so will have lower ROA s compared to companies in the pharmaceutical or advertising
industries. The table below shows our ROA for each year compared to the industry. The graph
following shows the ROA for Andrews alone over time.
Our ROA is a similar tale to the ROS, as we

New York Jets Case Study
To start the 2018 off season, the New York Jets had one of the biggest cap spaces in the league. It
s fair to say that they took advantage, making many marquee signings. This roster is going to
look very different from last year after a revamp of the cornerback group and quarterback room
to name a couple of positions. Let s look at who will make the final 53 man roster. Josh McCown
(left) and rookie QB Sam Darnold (right) Quarterback: Starter: Josh McCown Depth: Teddy
Bridgewater, Sam Darnold Cut: N/A After failed 2nd round pick Christian Hackenberg was
traded to the Raiders for a 7th round pick, I don t expect any changes to the QB room in New
York. Josh McCown gets the start because of his surprisingly adequate play last year and... Show

Mo Claiborne is a solid 2nd CB but has dealt with injuries for the last couple of years. And Buster
Skrine isn t a great player and commits a lot of penalties, but is formidable for a nickel role. Don
t be surprised if 6th round pick out of Tulane, Parry Nickerson takes over Skrine s spot through
the season. He s a very quick, agile corner who had the fastest 40 yard dash time at the combine
at 4.32. Out of the players who I think will be cut, Rashard Robinson has been the biggest
disappointment, after trading a 5th round pick for him in the middle of the 2017 season, he had
2 tackles in 6 games and the Jets will be glad to put this behind them. Jeremy Clark and Derrick
Jones, who were both picked last year haven t played bad, but they may become victims of an

Innate Sexual Identity
I believe people are born with an innate sexual identity that they can not change. I base this belief
on books and articles of scientific research that I have read over the years. However, I believe
many individuals lie to themselves and/or to others about their sexual identity due to social
pressures.
I believe that many parents who disrespect homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgendered people
openly in front of their children may trigger the children into repressing their sexual identities. As
an example, if a homosexual child were born into a family who does not approve of homosexuality
he or she may be inclined to pretend to be heterosexual. I believe many individuals even get
married and have children with opposite sex partners, while denying

The White Heron By Sarah Jewett
In the short story the White Heron (1886), Sarah Jewett portrays a young little girl, Sylvia, bear the
temptation of money and affection from the young man with mental struggle, and resolutely
determined to protect the fairy of nature a white heron. Through describing Sylvia s authentic
emotions and using of vivid theme colors and exquisite word choice, Jewett delivers the story like
showing a lifelike 19 century country life drama in front of the readers.
The beauty of the story is about authentically conveying the author s emotion experience, depicting
the true feeling of the characters, and delivering the thought process by putting readers into their
shoes, in order to create resonance with the readers, like her emotion for the love of nature, for her
struggle towards money, and for the crush she had towards the hunter. Sylvia s love of nature
showed from As for Sylvia herself, it seemed as if she had never been alive at all before she
came to live at the farm. (5) . She found her real self here, embracing the nature, knowing every
life that lived here, and fully enjoying the freedom in the woods, just like a jungle fairy.
Sylvia s struggle towards the hunter is also lifelike. The hunter used the money to tempt Sylvia,
which drove her crazy. No amount of thought, could decide how many wished for treasure the ten
dollars, so lightly spoken, would buy . (13) It is the original and authentic feeling that most kids can
get, but the author didn t omit the impact of money

What Does Dover Push And Digging Mean
Message Dover, Thrush and Digging There are many messages in this poem. Dover, Thrush and
Digging is a very synthetic poem and gives many reason why and how we live our lives. Some
always question their lives and here are some things that we need to live by. Like don t take
your youth for granted, don t let old age get to you and don t mess up while you are young
because it will catch up to you. Also I m going into depth with them. To begin, Dover is about
don t take your youth for granted because their will be things you will regret and there will be
things you wished you did while you had the energy and the spirit. The things you could regret;
would be like making some really stupid decisions. You could have been a rebel when you were
in your youth. Like if you broke your back for doing a dare and now that you re older you have
some really bad pains and can t really do much. Also there could be like if you got a girl pregnant
and you were really young so you had to start working at a really young and had to quit school, so
then you wouldn t have as much education under your belt. Then that means that you will be stuck
working a job that you don t like and you can t get a better if have someone that you love kills you.

Like the poem Thrush you still have to live life like you re still young you have to take risks.
There are so much more you can do while you re old because you have the money and more
experiences. Many older people think it s time to just sit and wait for death, but no it s not. It is
like being young again, but in a different way which can bring more energy, fears and excitement.
Even Though some of them have to be more careful than others, but live life to the fullest and don
t have regrets at the things you enjoyed and have the things you have always wanted to accomplish
a life with someone that really loves you for

Lucille Ball Research Paper
The Goddess of Comedy
By Annie Nichol
TV Guide once said that Lucille Ball was seen by more people more often than the face of any
other human being who has ever lived. INSERT TRANSITION SENTENCE HERE. Lucille Ball
is the greatest actress that has ever lived because of her ability to overcome obstacles and her
overwhelming amount of accomplishments.
The beginning of Lucy s life was nothing but struggles and hardships, but it made Lucy stronger
and pushed her to succeed. At the extraordinarily young age of 3, her father, Henry Durrell Ball,
passed away from typhoid fever. Being Lucy s first significant memory, that haunted her for the rest
of her life. Without having someone in the family with a steady income, the family became so poor

was the #1 TV show in the Nation. After all of Lucy s struggles and set backs, she got her BIG
shot to stardom, that she so dearly deserved, and was accomplishing so much. I Love Lucy
changed TV and broke many racial barriers. It was the first show to have a hispanic actor in a
leading role and to have a live studio audience. This was a concept dreamed up by Desi. It would
pull together the element of being aired around the world and having millions watching with the
element of a stage/play production with an audience. It was also the first show to deal with
pregnancy in a straightforward manner, when Lucy got pregnant with their second child in the
second season of I Love Lucy ( Lucille Ball People). I know its hard to believe, but back in the
1950 s TV was very modest and reserve. For example, when it was announced that Lucy was
pregnant, their bedroom set piece that was originally two twin beds pushed together and shared,
were immeadatly pushed apart to different sides of the room. Also, when discussing Lucy s
pregnancy on the show, the actors were not allowed to say Lucy was pregnant. They were told to

The Call Of The Wild Character Analysis
The Missions of Buck, Ghulam Ali, and Theodore
There are many different people that have taken on missions and have found a way to
accomplish them. From The Call of The Wild, Buck wanted to adapt and survive in the Klondike.
In The Other Side of The Sky , Ghulam needed to find a new way into Pakistan to better the life
of two families. Out of Kid Lawyer, Theodore wanted to find his kidnapped friend and not lose
their friendship. However, all three were determined to work hard for their goal because they all
needed it to live happily.
Buck was a sweet house dog whose goal was to adapt and survive in the Klondike. He was stolen
and taken to a new place that he had never been before. Once he saw a dog was killed due to her
injury, he knew he was going to have to adapt and survive on his own in the Klondike. Along the
way Buck endured many hardships, he was in a fight to the death for the leadership position, he
could tell he was going to need fight and he did, he used his imagination and successfully
defeated Spitz. The passage states, Buck stood and looked on, the successful champion, the
dominant primordial beast (London 35). This displays that Buck has evolved and can kill his
own kind. While on his journey, Buck could feel himself change, his fur got thicker, his feet
solidified and he became faster. For instance, The dominant primordial beast was strong in Buck,
and under the fierce condition of trail life it grew and grew (London 23). This proves that Buck is

Walls In Into The Wild
Walls are built to keep things out. Walls are also built to keep things within a designated area.
Much like the wall s structural cousin, the fence, they serve a myriad of purposes across the
eons of history. Some may even claim that they have a yuge impact on our societies. Jon
Krakauer inadvertently explores the internal walls we build to contain our deepest fears,
insecurities and aspirations while he researches the demise of Chris Mccandless in his non fiction
piece titled Into The Wild. Sean Penn does likewise in his adaption of the book to film. Like many
people, Chris had built a wallto protect himself from the traumas of his childhood and fears of the
world around him. Believe Chris; he knew walls better than anybody, for he lived within the thin
walls of a bus in the middle of nowhere for 114 days. However the Alaskan wilderness was not...

The scene includes Chris teasing Franz, calling him an old man who sits around all day. Franz
denies these charges and overcomes the limits imposed by his aging body to chase Chris up a
sand dune. Franz is never described or portrayed as a man who leaves the house much so his
time alone with Chris definitely shows that his true nature is caring and fatherly. Chris himself
barely shows much attraction to others, even the fictional girl he meets in Slab City in the film,
but shows great affection for Franz before he departs for Alaska. However the reason that this
scene does more harm than good to the narrative is that it leads to nowhere. There is no impact of
his departure portrayed on screen since Chris just marches away into the sunset. More justice could
have been shown to Franz as he comes closest to the idea that one only truly knows themselves
when they are out of their comfort zone since Chris is too sucked into his own romanticised ideals
to reflect this sentiment

December 1st, 2017
The Importance of Heeding Literary Omens: Of Mice and Men The novel, Of Mice and Men, by
John Steinbeck, depicts the unfortunate tale of two men traveling in search of labor. Lennie Small,
and George Milton, born and raised in Auburn, settle in Salinas valley making their living as ranch
hands. Conflict arises as Lennie struggles to heed George s words and eventually Lennie suffers his
downfall at the hand of his best friend. John Steinbeck used foreshadowing in, Of Mice and Men, to
express and reveal the sentiments behind characters actions and personalities throughout the
novel, demonstrating the importance of foreshadowing to deepen the understanding of major
events in a novel. The author utilizes the setting of the book to foreshadow the differences in
Lennie and George s characters. Before they are introduced, Steinbeck describes the diverse
region of mountains and streams close to George and Lennie s destination. The area is separated
by a river with one side harboring, golden foothill slopes [which] curve up to the strong and
rocky Gabilan mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees willows fresh and
green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter s flooding,
(Steinbeck 1). Steinbeck uses the contrast in the opposite sides of the river to foreshadow the
variation in the mental and physical aspects of his two main

The Health Care Crisis Of The United States
The health care crisis in the United States has been out of control for many years. According to
National Health Expenditure Projections, Americans will spend approximately 3.2 trillion on
health care in 2015. If the United States health care system was a country, it would be the 6th
largest economy on the entire planet (National Health Expenditure). The article stated that back in
1960, an average person spends 147 dollars on health care, that number had increase rapidly to
8,086 dollars. I wonder why, but then again, cost of health care is not regulated by the government,
prices are set by American Medical Association (National Health Expenditure).
The United States spends more on health care than Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom
and Canada combined (Sick around the World). The top executives at the five largest for profit
health insurance companies in the United States combined made 200 million (National Health
Expenditure). Hospital executives continue to make millions of dollars in profit while consumers
struggle to pay off their medical costs. The United States is the only develop country where 62
percent of all personal bankruptcies were related to medical bills (Sick around the world).
Some politician had proposed bills to have the health care system reformed, but had rarely been
successful. Surprisingly, in 2010, a reform was passed. The Affordable Care Act, also known as

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance
Surveillance
One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but
what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was
a French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original
physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One
example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about
1600 as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society.
Foucault believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many
contemporary surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules
of proper conduct and behavior are internalized by members of society.
Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance.
Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to
a mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus,
criminals become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather
than killing them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of
surveille. Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that
might not. Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing

What Is The Relationship Between Coherence And Cohesion
1.Introduction
1.1Overview
A language has four systems which are: vocabulary, grammar, phonology, and discourse. So,
discourse is mainly considered an important system of a language. The term (Discourse) is a
piece of language, weather it is written or spoken, which has a meaning, purpose, and also unity.
and meaning and purpose. More specifically, discourse analysis (DA) is one of the disciplines of
social sciences that based on different sociologisticts approaches. These social disciplines include
many such as: linguistics, sociology, education, cognitive psychology, social psychology, cultural
studies, and communication studies, and translation studies. In addition, discourse analysis aims at

I realized some researchers claimed that there is a close relationship between coherence and
cohesion, whereas others ignored such kind of correlation between coherence and cohesion .
2.2Cohesion VS Coherence On one hand, coherence is considered a very general principle of an
interpretation of language in context. It has a few number of formal linguistic features e.g
vocabulary choice. And the relationships in a coherent text, deals with the text as a whole.
However, coherence focused on semantic relationships at a primary level. On the other hand,
cohesion has many formal linguistic features repetition and reference. And the relationships in a
cohesive text, deals between sentences and also within sentences. Moreover, cohesion is
determined by the relationships which are characterized as overt intersentential in a lexical and
grammatical manner. (Dag, 2014).

Differences between the Chesapeake Bay and New England...
Differences between the Chesapeake Bay and New England ColoniesThere are many key
differences that distinguish the inhabitants of the New England colonies from those of the
Chesapeake Bay colonies. These dissimilarities include but are not limited to the differences
between the social structure, family life, forms of government, religion, and the lives of indentured
servants and children in the two colonies.
The social structure and family life of the two colonies varied greatly. The inhabitants of the
Chesapeake Bay colonies were never able to establish a successful social structure or sense of
family life due primarily to the nature of its inhabitants. According to the essay Looking Out for
Number One: Conflicting Cultural Values in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some what different from this was the government that was present in the New England colonies.
As with many other aspects of life, the Puritans government was based on family. According to the
essay The Godly Family of Colonial Massachusetts, The household not the individual was the
fundamental unit of society. The political order was not an agglomeration of detached individuals;
it was an organic unity composed of families. (The Way We Lived 43). Since the political decisions
were based on families instead of the individuals themselves, each Puritan household received only
one vote on issues that were presented. As was customary in the time, the father would represent
the head of the household at the polls. If the husband was not able to go to the polls then it would
be handed down to the wife and she would represent the family at the poles.
Another major difference between the Chesapeake Bay colonies and the New England colonies
was religion. The street toughs and roughnecks who settled in the Chesapeake Bay colonies were
not very churchly people although occasionally someone would comment on the need for churches
and more importantly schools. Although it was commented upon, the large distances between
plantations would have made it nearly impossible to build a church that was close enough to be
used by everyone. The quote, Church buildings were in perpetual state of decay; ministers were
poorly supported by there parishioners (The Way We Lived 27), shows just

War On Terror And Terrorism
War on Terror After the incident of September 11, 2001, War on Terror became a serious problem.
That attack made huge effects on U.S government and many other countries. Many innocent
people lost their lives because of those terrorists. No one knows if an incident like the one on
September 11 will happen again, but we have to know that we are the primary target . According to
Patrick Coaty s War on Terror, the terrorism
has been developed throughout history. So that people
should know to fight the war on terror, and be prepared from another attack like the one on
September 11, 2001. According to Coaty s War on Terror, terrorism can be divided in three
different levels: individual, state, and international environment. During the French revolution,
terrorism was developed the first time, and some groups of people gathered to clean the evils of
monarchy. They want to overthrow the weak government and establish a new one that can bring
them a better life. After that, terrorism was expanded to the Soviet, and it became the best tool for
them to control people, including their lifestyle and their own privacy. Under the Soviet s control,
terrorism has been developed and spread to many other countries around the world. Meanwhile,
the Stalin s policies were applied to control German by Adolf Hitler. Hitler killed all the people
who helped him on his political career. Hitler and Nazi Party control a major Nazi organization, the
Schutzstaffel. This organization made many crimes

Winnie The Pooh is a collection of tales about the adventures of Pooh and all his friends. This

not all go along with one another and can be read separately without any particular order. This
book starts off with the story about how Pooh was previously known as Edward Bear until he
wanted a new name in which Christopher Robin, his owner, came up with the name Winnie The
Pooh. The name Pooh came from a swam Christopher Robin had once before. After Pooh s
introduction the book goes on to talk about all the adventures Pooh went on throughout his life. One

All throughout the book Pooh is never embarking on journeys alone. He is always accompanied
by a companion, whether it was Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, or the Rabbit. One of the
most prominent relationships was between Pooh and Christopher Robin. At the end of some of
the chapters, Christopher Robin is telling the narrator he was going to take a bath. He never
manages to leave Pooh behind as he picks him up by the leg, and walked up the stairs trailing
Pooh behind him going bump, bump, bump up the stairs (pg. 21 161). Pooh wasn t just any old
bear to Christopher Robin. Christopher adored Pooh and treated him as if he was real. He wanted
the narrator to re tell these stories for Pooh and tell him about their different adventures. Not only
was this evident throughout the story, but also through the illustrations. Each illustration has a

My Papaw
Ever since I was a little kid I have always responded positively to music. It has consistently been
my go to for personal expression. Whether it is listening or writing, I have always tended to
gravitate towards different songs and rhythms as an emotional outlet. I believe some of my
extended family is to thank for this way of thinking. My familyon my Dad s side has always been
very musically inclined. I remember as a young child I would go visit my grandparents in
Louisiana, no matter what was going on I would usually end up in the back room where my
Grandfather, Papaw kept all of his guitars and musical equipment. My Papaw is a fantastic,
classically trained blues/ rock guitar player, and he never failed to show off his talents. For hours...

Superflab Essay
This study is a comparison of three alternative bolus materials to Superflab in providing the
maximum dose buildup (Dmax). Superflab is a synthetic oil gel based on vinyl plastic composed
of disodecyl phthalate. The maximum dose buildup (Dmax) is when 100% of the dose is deposited
beneath a patient s skin. Alternative bolus materials are tissue equivalent materials placed on a
patient s skin surface to increase or even out the surface dose. The composition of alternative bolus
materials can include anything from wet gauze to Play Doh to rice. The purpose of this study is to
test the Dmax for various bolus materials when compared to Superflab.
Walker et al. (2005) performed this study to determine the differences in producing the maximum
dose buildup while using Play Doh, water soaked gauze, and Superflab. The researchers wanted to
determine if Play Doh and water soaked gauze were adequate alternatives to Superflab. At the
beginning they accurately measured the radiation doses to be less than 10.0 cGy. Next, they made
each bolus material 5 mm thick and then placed TLDs at the center of the beam where they placed
each bolus and irradiated them 5 times each. Then, they calculated the mean dose, standard ... Show

potential to be adequate bolus substitutes, but knew the reproducibility of the gauze and towels
would be low. They measured the dimensions of each bolus material and then, irradiated each
material with various photon energies. The results showed that the Dmax changed and shifted to
the surface when they used Superflab, but Dmax did not validate a shift change in the wet gauze
and towel. In conclusion, the researchers discovered that wet gauze and wet towels are not
adequate Superflab substitutes, although this could be that each bolus had a different

Description Of The s Exchange Principle
Introduction Locard s exchange principle states that every contact leaves a trace indicating that
trace evidence left by the perpetrator will always be found in the scene of crime (1). These trace
evidence include hair follicles, to sweat, to skin cells and footwear impression, etc. They are
valuable information that can incriminate a person and enable the law to carry out appropriate
punishment. The value of these evidence will however decrease if they are not treated or
processed appropriately (2). Footwear impressions are marks made by the outer surface of the sole
of a footwear (outsole for shoes) (3). These marks are distinctive patterns that belong to specific
shoetypes and manufacturers (2,3). Therefore, an impression that found at a crime scene can be
used to identify the shoe type and or specific shoe. Footwear impression identification is based
on matching random individual wear characteristics formed on the shoe by its wearer during its
life (2,3). Therefore, footwear impression analysis can be proven difficult due to the large
number of footwear outsole pattern designs (2,3). These impressions form when the footwear is
pressed on a surface and the outsole pattern is transferred onto that surface (2, 3). Footwear
impressions are classed into two main groups, two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D).
The 3D prints are those that are found on substrates such as snow or mud while 2D prints are those
formed on floors or carpets (3). Useful

How differently would they communicate their message to the working class compared to the
upper classes and also throughout different ages and genders. Lastly, looking back over the
period of graphic design in this part of history, are the design rules and guidelines still in effect
today in contemporary propaganda, especially in political propaganda. If so what design aspects
and features are still being used and are they still as effective in todays modern society.
Nazi propaganda can be dated back to 1926 when Hitler wrote his book Mein Kampf (ushmm,
2015) Hitler wrote two chapters about war propaganda, which he always expressed how the power
and destruction that propaganda could cause in the right hands, and the importance of mass
communication through different mediums. The first duty of the propagandist is to win over
people who can subsequently be taken into the organization. And the first duty of the organization
is to select and train men who will be capable of carrying on the propaganda Hitler continues by
saying The second duty of the organization is to disrupt the existing order of things and thus make
room for the penetration of the new teaching which it represents, while the duty of the organizer
must be to fight for the purpose of securing power, so that the doctrine may finally triumph. (James
Murphy, 2011)

NFL Held Responsible for Brain Injuries
NFL Held Responsible for Brain Injuries Throughout history in the NFL, head injuries and
fixing those problems have always been hidden from the athletes because of the NFL striving to
make a large profit instead of caring for the players. With this being an ongoing problem between
NFL players and the NFL itself, many past and current players are digging deeper to find the truth
and statistics continue to show how serious this problem actually is. When the lawsuits first began

compensate former players suffering neurological injuries. Many believe the NFL offered this so

It may go deeper than that though (Kacsmar). The players accused the NFL of intentional
misconduct in its response to the headaches, dizziness, and other multiple signs that former
players have reported ( Mega Lawsuit ). A former running back, Kevin Turner, who was
diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), said The NFL must open its eyes to the
consequences of its actions. The NFL has the power not only to give former players the care
they deserve, but also to ensure that future generations of football players do not suffer the way
that many in my generation have. ( Mega Lawsuit ). Many of the former and present NFL
players believe that like boxing, the NFL had to be aware of the health risks associated with
repetitive blows producing sub concussive and concussive results. The fact that some members
of the NFL player population were at significant risk of developing long term brain damage, had
to be known by the league. Players say, Despite its knowledge and controlling role in governing
player conduct on and off the field, the NFL turned a blind eye to the risk and failed to warn and
or impose safety regulations governing this well recognized health and safety problem. ( Lawsuit
). The NFL s rule change on moving kickoffs to the thirty five yard line in 2011 was expected to
decrease the number of head injuries, but overall head injuries

In the old days, coordinating such tasks was not as complicated as today, it only took a weekly
meeting with your team and manager face to face to review the progress on the task or project.
(PCWorld, 2007) The challenge back in the days actually being able to meet on time, agree on
the available time and of course you could only leverage your team member locally in the same
office or at least same city. Today, as we live in a globalized, where companies no longer operate
on a local scale rather on a global scale where human resources are spread all over across the
world. Today, the challenge of working in teams can mean working with people who are in
different time zones, located at multiple locations on different hemispheres. How can you be
able to work on a project or task with such distance in time and space? How can a manager be
able to allocate different tasks to different team members and also be able to track the progress of
the task and make sure tasks are being executed on time and following the business guidelines

The Love Languages Of The Children
It is a universal truth that we all need love in our lives. We all have different ways in which we
like to receive and give love. Many of us may not even realize that we do. Gary Chapman writes
about five different ways in which we love and titles them five love languages. It is important to
identify how we love, because it can allow us to have a happier life and make other people s lives
better. It is especially important to identify the love languages of the children which we
encounter, because it can shape their identity either for the better or worse. There are five major
love languages that can be identified and can pretty much sum up the best ways we can express
our love. The five love languages are touch, words of affirmation, giving, time, and service. A child
s love languagecan be identified in two ways, through observation and through communication,
which pretty much also depends on their love language. We can observe the childand see if he
enjoys touching his parents and siblings, or if he does things and then looks to see what the
parent will say or perhaps just sits next to their siblings and follows them around. Love languages
are adaptable and although most humans have all the love languages, some are stronger than
others. The love languages of the parents effects what the love languages of the children will be.
For example if the parents hug a lot or if they buy gifts for each other the child can adopt that gift
and want to use it

Friendship And True Friendship
Have you ever had the feeling like someone knows you better than yourself? Frequently
surrounded by so called friends or acquaintances, as I like to call them, where a connection
between people is little to nonexistent. Whereas having a true friend is someone who s there for
you no matter what, for the marvelous and the dreadful. It s theses kind of true friends that will
have one s back, they are loyal, trustworthy, and a valuable person to have in anyone s life. To
better understand what the word friend, it s important to know the history. To begin with, it derives
from Middle English the word friend means love, attachment, and feeling that of a relative. First
notably used in the twelfth century. Therefore a friend is someone who listens to what one is
saying and cares about them their feelings and opinion. On the other hand, at times it feels like
my friendships are a bit one sided, where I do the majority of listening. As a result of this, I ve
discovered a notable difference between a friend and a true friend, in a friendship; there are talkers
and listeners. Except in a true friendship, where neither claim a specific role, both are talkers and
the listeners. Thus it s fair to say a true friend is someone who can laugh at me, and make fun of
my awkward moments with me, and vice versa. In other words, it s these types of friends are the
best because, we work as a team, both sides adding to the relationship. However, it s more than

It is believed that higher voter turnout favors the Democratic candidate. If turnout is high, then it

based on the idea that Democrats have less of a voter turnout than Republicans, so low voter
turnout would be beneficial to Republican candidates. This paper will explore this theory and will
utilize data in order to confirm if this is, in fact, the case. This paper will also look into other
reasons that might contribute to a higher percent Democratic vote, such as the percentage of
African Americans in a state due to the fact that African American people tend to vote for the
Democratic candidate. For this study, the hypothesis is that with a higher

Transgender People Face Harassment And Discrimination
In 2015, at least 21 transgender people have been victims of fatal violence in the
United States, more killings of transgender people than any other year on record. More
transgender people were killed in the first six months of this year than in all of 2014.
While we don t know many details about these victims experiences, research shows that transgender
people face harassment and discrimination in numerous contexts throughout their lives. We know
that the chances of facing discrimination, harassment and violence increase exponentially for
transgender women of color, who also face racism and sexism. For many transgender women of
color, the threat of violence is constant, and there are few if any places they feel safe. Transgender
people must be supported because they are human beings who have many talents that will support

Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson Essay
Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson In his book, The Miseducation of the Negro,
Carter G. Woodson addresses many issues that have been and are still prevalent in the African
American community. Woodson believed that in the midst of receiving education, blacks lost sight
of their original reasons for becoming educated. He believed that many blacks became educated
only to assimilate to white culture and attempt to become successful under white standards, instead
of investing in their communities and applying their knowledge to help other blacks. Supreme
Court Justice Clarence Thomas is a prime example of Woodson s argument on miseducated blacks.

Those who remain on the less privileged, less educated side of the black community resent their
peers who have degrees and white collar jobs. They feel that these successful black men and
women no longer have a connection to where they came from. This class rift is not only limited
to black adults, but occurs in school age children and teenagers. Many small black children who
dress well and have high grades in school are made fun of and picked on by their less fortunate
peers. Black high school students who drive nice cars and live in upper class neighborhoods are
sometimes labeled as bourgeois by their peers who come from working or lower class families.
The contempt that is held amongst blacks is not only based on class and education, but can be
found related to color and/or skin tone. Division among light skinned and dark skinned blacks
dates back to slavery. On plantations the master used these skin categories to divide the house
slaves and the field slaves. Since position inside of the house were easier and more comfortable ,
the slaves with lighter skin were envied by their darker peers who were given difficult outside
jobs in the field. After slavery ended if your skin was light it made it easier for you to mix into
white society. Many parents encouraged their light skinned children, especially daughters, to
attempt to pass for white. Lighter skin gave you opportunities at better jobs, slightly

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Abstract
Abstract NMR is a form of spectroscopy that utilizes external magnetic fields and signals to
identify the chemical structure of organic molecules, creating a gradient image. Through
applying an applied Radio Frequency, the proton is able to flip into higher energy states, and
then relax. This process is recorded by a NMR Spectrometer, and the difference in energy
provides it with a certain NMR Signal. The difference in the magnetic fields of the allows for a
gradient image of the area. There are various types of imaging that are useful for fast imaging or
3D imaging such as Gradient Echo Imaging or Volume Imaging. Some other applications of the
same principles that apply to MRIs mainly relate to the identification of organic molecules such
as Protein Folding and Drug Development. Although MRI is a relatively safe and harmless
process as opposed to other forms of imaging such as X rays, certain aspects still pose a risk to

Due to the prevalence of Hydrogen atoms the human body, their NMR signals are what allows
for the identification of the molecule. Although not all protons have a spin, the spin on the
hydrogen proton allows it to have its own magnetic field and NMR signal. A key property is the
spin of the proton. The spin of a proton is expressed in В± k (1/2), where k is a coefficient. During
the NMR process, an external magnetic field is applied on the protons, partially polarizing them.
This will cause them to all align in the same orientation, around the magnetic field direction, as it is
the easiest to maintain that position. This is called the Minimum Magnetic Potential Energy. Its
other spin state is its high energy spin state, where it spins in the opposite direction around the
magnetic field. The Magnetic Dipole Moment defines the spin on a proton and is shown with the

Purpose Of Virginia Woolf
The author I have chosen is Virginia Woolf because I found her a very interesting woman. She is
an English author who wrote modernist classics and in 1915 she published her first novel called
The Voyage Out. She did not attend to the school, instead, she was taught at home; the first thing
she started to write was a family newspaper called the Hyde Park Gate News, in which she
recorded all the funny moments her family spent.
With the death of her mother, she went to King s College in London where she studied in
German, Greek and Latin at the Ladies Department. It was there where she became a radical
feminist in terms of educational reforms. In addition to the death of her mother, her father also
died, and as a result she was in a deep depression, which was the cause of her suicide in 1941.

Television in Society
Synthesis Essay
Television, a widely accepted form of media and communication, has spread into the political world
with an amazing speed. There are both useful and detrimental aspects to this newfound relationship
between television and politics. Sources A and E describe the more useful aspects of television
within the political sphere, whereas Sources B and C portray the contrastingly detrimental aspects.
Television has become useful in keeping the public informed as to public issues, political rivalries
and of course, the political elections. One of the great contributions expected of television lay in its
presumed capacity to inform and stimulate the political interests of the American electorate, (Source
A), suggests the increased communication between the public and their political system. Citizens
are able to receive a quick, presumably reliable source of information they otherwise would usually
receive later, with less details, and second hand. The televised events create a new, immediate
contact with political events (Source A), which is important as technology allows for greater global
and national communication. Additionally, Source E portrays the importance of public opinion and
the sway of television over political leaders for significant events. The significance of television in
conjunction with the political leaders themselves are exemplified by the fact that if Walter Cronkite
thought that the war was hopeless, the American people would think so

to urban living were some of the defining moments of this period. However, the most defining idea
of the Gilded Age is Reform: Social, Political, and economic. The Gilded Age was plagued with the

Violent Lynchings were also a method used to show dominance and whites growing fear of
change. Prior, to the Gilded Age or the Age of Reform, violence towards African Americans, was
widely committed and accepted. Since the violence was being committed against then slaves, the
violence was legal. Ironically, whites were less violent to slaves as they were valuable. Many
African Americans, were growing weary of this unjust treatment, but only a few dared to speak
out publically. Ida B. Wells, was one of the most prominent social reformers. She was a dual
reformers, fighting for both, racial and gender equality. Wells, spoke out against the brutal practice
of lynching and mob justice and the lack of response. Lynch mobs had no fear of reprisal, as the
authorities did nothing to prevent or pursue them. In her Pamphlet: Southern Horrors, she criticized
the reasons given to justify the Lynchings: false sexual assault allegations against white women and
protecting white society/women s virtue. She argued that these relationships were consensual.
Wells stated, Nobody in this section of the country believes the old thread bare lie that Negro men
rape white women. If Southern white men are not careful they will overreach themselves, and
public sentiment will have a reaction; and a conclusion will be reached which will be very

Devil Facial Tumour Disease Case Study
Introduction: What is Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease?
пЂЄIdentified in 1996 the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD) is the growth of fatal
tumours on the faces of Tasmanian Devils (Sarcophilus harrisii), specifically the mouth and teeth.
(Hamede RK, McCallum H Jones M, 2013)
пЂЄAffecting the largest carnivorous marsupial alive (Beeton N McCallum H, 2011) the tumour
cells are transmitted through the biting of one Devil to another either in attack to access food first,
or predominantly as part of mating. (Grueber CE et al. 2015)
пЂЄTasmanian Devils have little genetic diversity especially when it comes to a crucial
histocompatibility complex gene that is required for efficient immune system functioning in the
species. (Hamede ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetic Research on the Histocompatibility Complex and Telomeres
The DFTD tumour is accepted to be clonal, originating from a single Schwann cell that did not dye
in the Devil it first infected rather spreading through the species. (Grueber CE et.al 2015)
The Histocompatibility Complex genome is important for an organism to distinguish its own cells
from foreign cells, yet Tasmanian Devils have a variation in this gene resulting in the tumour cell
going unidentified by the body. (Siddle H et.al 2012)
Finding a way to restore the function of the Histocompatibility Complex genome so that it can
activate antibodies such as ОІ2 microglobulin (ОІ2 m) to kill the tumour should be an area focused
on because it can then be introduced into one infected Devil that can bite others and so the genome
is passed on. (Siddle H et.al 2012)
The DFTD tumour cells also have chromosomes that have been protected from misshaping by
strong Telomere and Shelterin compounds that should worn of long ago due to a lot of DNA
replication. (Grueber CE et al. 2015)
Targeting these Telomere/Shelterin compounds may be useful to suppress the tumour cells, killing
it off.Grueber CE et al. 2015

Pros And Cons Of Conflict Theory
Conflict theory is when conflicts arise due to the limited resources, distributing power, and status
unevenly also causes conflict between different social classes. Conflict theory helps to explain why
our society is unstable. This theory examines the inequalities in money, gender, class, and age
within today s society. Some basic principals of conflicttheory include thinking that individuals who
are believed to be ranked higher then others obtain most of the benefits in society. The biggest part
of conflict theoryis who has the most power, those without power are oppressed by people with
more power then them. Another, principal is the way society splits people up into different classes
based on their power. This has a lot to do with inequality, different groups of people have different
opportunities in life. Karl Marxsplit society into two many groups the Bourgeoisie and Proletariat.
The Bourgeoisie consisted of those who were higher up in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Anti gun control groups could argue that this would take away there feeling of security in
society. In today s world no one is safe anywhere, walking down the street, or even going home.
Someone having a gun on them would make them feel safe and not scared. Another, argument
that they make is gun control will not stop criminals. No matter how hard it is to obtain a gun, if
a criminal wants one they will find a way to get their hands on one. They also argue that gun
control laws like the background check is an invasion of that person s privacy. The biggest
argument that this group makes is that we do not need more gun control laws we need more
education and training. The more that someone knows about the weapon they are using the safer
they will be when using it. There are several accidental shootings that happen every year because

The Divine Comedy Dante By Dante Alighieri
Perfection. Society has been taught to strive for that and normally perfection is accompanied by a
religion that exemplifies it and the reward tends to be unimaginably amazing. The problem is that
no one is perfect, and because there is no way to measure that we try our best or we give up and
follow other paths. Dante Alighieri, born in Florence, Italy in 1265, was born into a very power
hungry age. Morality was not very high on someone s to do list. In the Divine ComedyDante makes
a point of writing about those that have done him wrong and placing them where the belong . But
Dante does not only expose the bad people in his life but the bad people all over the world and he
also includes himself. Dante writes his book to scare others... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

story to go on because it established the road for the poem. The phrase divulges that Hell is
almost like a city where there is interminable pain and suffering and anguish. In Hell there are
nine circles and each of those circles is centralizes it s punishment around a type of sin. In the
first circle it is called Limbo where the unbaptized and virtuous pagans are grieving all day every
day from not being with God. The second circle was for the lustful who are blown around by a
never ending and violent wind. In the fifth circle are the Wrathful which contain those who were
angry and did not let things go. In the fifth circle is a man named Filippo Argenti, a man who Dante
hated and wished more punishment upon. Dante got his wish. Circle VI embodies the Heretics and
where Farinata, Dante s enemy in politics, resides. Both Filippo and Farinata did Dante wrong but
that is not the only reason they ended up in Hell. They ended up there because they sinned and the
punishment fit their sins. Dante not only punished the

Re:Using Grossman s model to evaluate how NYC s new sick leave law will affect emergency
room use
Date:February 10, 2015
This memorandum will use Grossman s model of production of health to evaluate how New York
City s new sick leave law will affect emergency room use.
Grossman s model states that a person utility is based on health (H) and other non health related
goods (Z) that the person consumes. The production possibility frontier for Grossman model shows
the tradeoff between home good production (Z) and health (H). Unlike usual production possibility
frontiers, an individual needs an optimal level of H to maximize consumption of Z goods.

The individual s health is a stock variable which changes over time. Hence, health decisions in
one period not only impact that period but also impact subsequent periods. With paid sick leave,
it is easier for an individual can take time off work to recuperate. This has multiple benefits.
Firstly, it allows the individual to recuperate before health levels become extremely low.
Extremely low levels of health will result in more ER visits and a longer recovery period.
Secondly, if the individual has an infectious disease then paid sick leave allows the individual to
recover and it prevents the infection from spreading to other people in the organization. Lastly, the
improved health (due to recuperation) will increase employee productivity in subsequent periods
at work. Hence paid sick leave will reduce ER visits over the course of the individual s life.
3) A study shows that availability of after hours care by primary physicians reduces emergency
room visits. Based on this study we can infer that it is likely that some of these individuals are
forced to visit emergency rooms due the unavailability of after hours care by primary physicians
and lack of paid sick leave to reach the primary care physician during regular work hours. Paid sick
leave will reduce the emergency room visits as employees can now contact their primary care
physicians during work hours.
4) With the new paid sick leave law, an

The Comparison and Contrast of Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath The two poems, And One for My
Dame by Anne Sexton and Daddy by Sylvia Plath, both explore similar themes through the use of
literary elements such as structure, tone and symbolism. Structures in each poem are alike with
length but differ with the actual form. The tone Plath conveys is negative one while Sexton s is
more neutral. The symbolism in Daddy was also negative with symbols of the devil but Sexton used
a nursery rhyme as a symbol. The connotations of these elements reflect the image the daughters
had of their fathers but also the relationships. These poems also both deal with the theme of ... Show

The tone associated with suicide and bad communication is not positive because these are not
happy things and consequently, with Plath mentioning these, the poem takes on a dark tone
which reflects her relationship with her father. On the other hand, Sexton creates a tone that is
much lighter by using words that have neutral or positive connotations. Her choice of diction
does not hint either way whether her relationship with her father was good or bad, it seems to
stay neutral which reflects her objective tone throughout the poem. She begins to introduce him
as a born salesman in line 1 and a born talker in line 4, which at most, infers that he was a
charismatic person (1,4). Sexton goes on to list everything he was in line 15 stating he was a
peddler, a hawker, a merchant and an Indian Chief (15). By these descriptions her father does not
appear to be out of the ordinary. He was just a traveler, committed to his work and not much else.
The way she describes him also seems to be observational so possibly her relationship with him was
distanced and unattached. Therefore, the tone echoes the theme that the relationship she had with
her father because their relationship was disconnected and that was the emotion provoked as she
remembered him. In addition to structure and tone, the authors both use symbolism to connect to
the theme. In Daddy , Plath once again mirrors her feelings and relationship with her father by the
use of negative symbols such

Book Report on the Go Between

and was officer in France during World War 1. He was novelist, short story writer and critic. His
reputation as a writer was established with the publication of the trilogy of novels, The Shrimp

Hartley begins The Go Between: with The past is a foreign country. They do things differently
there. This book is memory like in The Glass Menagerie; it is a look through the dusty memory
of a sixty years old man. Another key theme is class distinction and its warping effects upon the
life of one small boy. He s from a disadvantaged family and is invited in an aristocratic family.
The father and the fiancГ© are aware of the girl s affair with the farmer, but do nothing about it.
They are confident she will do the right thing in the end, and she does. Why don t you marry
Ted, the boy asks the young woman. Because I can t, she replies. Then why are you marrying
Trimmington? Because I must. She understands, and she is tough enough to endure. Indeed, at
the end of the film she turns up years later as an old lady very much in the image of her mother.
An extra theme is man woman relationships and love. Marian and Ted are in love with each other
and have an ardent affair together. Lord Trimmingham probably loved her too because he
married her although she was pregnant and Leo felt in love with her as soon as he saw her. The
diary is a symbol of the past and of the doom that chose him that summer, it s like a pact that he
signed, dreams and freshness gone for adult revelations. In the Zodiac on his diary, Leo is Mercury

Instant Messaging Services Are The Most Popular Nowadays

Instant Messaging services are the most popular nowadays and it is the instant way of

Definition Essay On Respect
When I was a little kid, about 8 to 9 years of age, I usually believed on anything a person said.
Specifically the time when one of my classmates said I ll give back your pencil at the end of
class. That s where trust comes in: a substantial belief in one s loyalty, truth, or ability. In fact, he
never gave it back which saddens me because the pencil he kept was actually my favorite one. It s
understandable that a pencil is cheap and easily replaceable, but that doesn t give anyone the right
to keep it without the owner s consent.
From my perspective, trust is like a vase, a nice well decorated artifact, that is highly fragile and
easy to break. Once it is destroyed it can be fixed, maybe by using tape or super glue, but the vase

Be courteous: that s what respect is. Respect is also what brings people together, like a
relationship or a friendship of some sort. If not used it can also tear people apart. There is
another form of respect too, and that is respect for one s property. Ever heard of the term
vandalism ? That term means: action involving destruction of or damage to private or public
property. This includes anything from writing on a desk at school to stealing from 7 Eleven. It
is a form of disrespect and crime. Property, whether a friend s, the school s, or even a stranger s,
should always be respected. Even if you smash a bottle on the side walk. Be thoughtful and
respect others, and you ll get that respect back. So what does respect truly mean to me? Respect
for me is a form of loving and admiring something or someone. It means so much that it makes me
open up more about my ideas on improving somethings in life, without getting rudely interrupted or
persecuted. Again with the friendship thing, it is the reason why I have the friends that I think
highly of today. Because we hand out and obtain respect from one another, as a result, formed the

The Effects of Falling Gas Prices on Operation Management Decision Making
Dylan Knight
Robert Morris University
Abstract This paper briefly takes a look at how the price of gas has changed over the past ten
years and what has caused the drop in fuel prices within the past few years. It then looks at the
fuel price s effect on business operation through the eyes of the Operations Manager and the key
aspects in decision making that they have to consider when the gas prices fall, like they have
recently. I then give you an idea of how the falling prices effect the ApartmentManagement
industry and the operations involved in renting and renovating apartments.

The one downfall of the increased production here in the United States is the drilling has slowed
down drastically leaving many oil workers without a job and forcing some companies out of
business. (Krauss) Another cause of the gas prices dropping, according to an article on CNN, is
the economic slowdown of the Chinese economy. They also mentioned the increased production
in the United States and finally the tentative nuclear deal which would make their oil more
readily available to our country. In the article they also predicted that by the time football season
came around that tens of thousands of gas stations across the country will be below the $2 a
gallon mark. (Isidore) Even though we have seen it come close here in Pennsylvania, it has not
gone below $2 here in the greater Pittsburgh area. A few times that I have been home in Ohio I
have seen it drop below $2 but it ultimately just depends on which area you are in. With winter
quickly approaching gas prices are expected to continue to drop as stations mix a less expensive
blend of gas for the winter months. (Isidore) So it is a possibility that we could see prices here in
the Pittsburgh area fall to the $2 a gallon area. If I were placed as the Operations Manager in any
industry gas prices play a huge factor in business and

Sir Edmund Hillary And Tenzing Norgay
How can humans impact the world around them? This may seem hard to answer, but people are
already impacting Mount Everest, and not in a positive way. People that choose to climb Mount
Everest are causing many problems. They drop off items all around the mountain, and even
compete with previous records. These can result with either a venue of pollution or even death. This
can change Mount Everest, by turning it from a place of enjoyment into a place of destruction.
To begin, people love to complete missions, but their drive to do so can result in death. The text
authenticates, On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first people
known to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world s highest mountain. In doing so, the men
set a precedent that many climbers spend their lives trying to reproduce...Before Hillary and
Norgay s historic accomplishment, many climbers had tried to reach Mount Everest s summit but
failed. In some cases, climbers even died trying, (Source #1, paragraphs 1 and 3). This justifies that
many people are attempting to overtake the record of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
Accordingly, the climbers are very competitive, and this causes many injuries towards others or
themselves while trying. The antagonistic behavior can also cause many deaths. The text also
displays, Hillary s climbing partner, Tenzing Norgay, had climbed Mount Everest many times,
though never to the summit. Norgay was a Sherpa, one of the mountain

Their Effects on Financial Statements
The impairment only accounting model for goodwill was initially brought to the table in 2004, to
replace the previous amortization based model. Over the years, research supported the idea that
impairment charges improved the fundamental economic attributes of goodwill than systematic
amortization charges. Research also revealed that such annual changes had minor information value
to users. According to KPMG (2014), this was the key reason why the US Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB) replaced straight line amortization of goodwill with this model that was
based exclusively on impairment testing (p. 4). The FASB argued that this approach provides...

After the value is determined, if the goodwill s fair value is less than the carrying value, the
goodwill is considered impaired and must be charged off. Essentially, the charge off reduces the
value of goodwill to market value, reflecting a mark to market charge.
Essentially, goodwill is the value of an asset that is considered intangible but has a quantifiable
prudent value in a business (Boundless, 2014). An example of goodwill could be the reputation a
firm has with its client. It is important to remember that although goodwill is technically an
intangible asset, it typically is listed separately on a business balance sheet.
Goodwill impairments under SFAS 142, has been the subject of many controversies. Opponents
worry that specific aspects of the standard are complicated and require judgment (Boundless,
2014). Therefore, a goodwill impairment charge has the ability to increase the uncertainty of the

Crime And Punishment Sociology
Throughout history, the law has been violated repeatedly. Crime and Punishment is not an
unknown system of the world. Every state has their own set of laws that are different and similar
to other states. The law has changed several times throughout history, adapting to the situation and
the beliefs of the nations it dictates. These set of rules guide people s actions and lives to protect
them, their rights and the other citizens of their nation. These rules are sometimes challenged and
changed because of people who dared to argue against a specific law. There are cases that are

This case obviously had a major sociological aspect to it. For the jurisdiction was based on
whether these two boys knew the difference between good and bad and whether they were truly
aware of the consequences of their actions. At the age of 10, a child cannot be held accountable by
law for crime because their brain hasn t fully developed the capacity to determine that they re

From one perspective they are too young technically, to know what they did was wrong but from
another what they did was so wrong that it is impossible they were not aware of consequences that
would result from their actions. The innocence of childhood has finally come of age. [...] Britain in
1993, this was a prophecy which, at last, seemed to have come true through the violent murder of

the day of the trial there were many riots in the streets pleading that they were to be determined

  • 2. Diabetes Mellitus Essay Diabetes Mellitus Is a multisystem disease related to abnormal insulin production, impaired insulin utilization, or both. Diabetes Mellitus is a serious health problem throughout the world. It is the 5th leading cause of death in the U.S. It is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, adult blindness, and nontraumatic lower limb amputations. Etiology and Pathophysiology Current theories link the cause of diabetes, singly or in combination, to genetic, autoimmune, viral, and environmental factors (obesity, stress). Regardless of its cause, diabetes is primarily a disorder of glucose metabolism related to absent or insufficient insulin supplies and/or poor utilization of the insulin that is available. The two most common types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rise in plasma insulin after a meal stimulates storage of glucose as glycogen in liver and muscle, inhibits gluconeogenesis, enhances fat deposition in adipose tissue, and increases protein synthesis. The fall in insulin level during normal overnight fasting facilitates the release of stored glucose from the liver, protein form muscle, and fat from adipose tissue. For this reason insulin is known as the anabolic or storage hormone. Skeletal muscle and adipose tissue have specific receptors for insulin and are considered insulin dependent tissues. Other tissues (brain, liver, blood cells) do not directly depend on insulin for glucose transport but require an adequate glucose supply for normal function. Although liver cells are not considered insulin dependent tissue, insulin receptor sites on the liver facilitate the hepatic uptake of glucose and its conversion to glycogen. Type I Diabetes Mellitus Formally known as quot;juvenile onset quot; or quot;insulin dependent quot; diabetes, type I diabetes mellitus most often occur in people who are under 30 years of age, with a peak onset between ages 11 and 13. The rate of type I diabetes is 1.5 to 2 times higher in whites than nonwhites, with a similar incidence among males and females. Typically, it is seen in people with a lean body type, although it can occur in people who are overweight. Etiology and Pathophysiology Type I diabetes results from progressive destruction of ... • 3. Richard Wilbur s The Death Of A Toad Richard Wilbur s poem, The Death of a Toad, powerfully describes the death of a toad chewed and clipped by a power mower in a gardening accident. Wilbur extends the incident to be metaphoric and symbolic of death and our inability to prevent it. The poem reflects on the appearance and thoughts that even a toad might have when approaching death. As the speaker ponders over the incident it becomes clear that the toads death is seen as more than just death itself but rather this mystical journey from start to finish. The poem is divided into three stanzas, each with six lines of varying lengths. The form and balance of the stanzas create a visual and formal precision. Each stanza tells of the events in a chronological sequence starting with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jkt Task 2d Essay D1. ROS, ROA, ROE, Leverage, Sales, Profits * Return on Sales (ROS) ROS is the percentage of each dollar of sales that is left as a profit. For example if a company has $100 in revenue and $20 in profit, at the end of the period they have a ROS of 20%. ROS is best used when compared to other companies within the same industry. This is because different industries can have different levels of ROS depending on the competitiveness level. Competiveness can drive prices down overall in the industry, which will drive down ROS for all companies. A high ROS can indicate premium pricing in the industry or great efficiency where as a low ROS can be an indicator of financial trouble such as a company slashing prices just to garner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Able could have sold an additional 0.2% of the market segment units of 14,937 and Acre an additional 1.9% of the market of 21,715 units. Doing that math for each product and applying the sales price and contribution margin shows a potential increase in sales of $74,484 (a 32% increase) and a margin increase of $26,286 (126% increase). This would have increase our ROS from 9.0% to 15.5%, which would have been tops in the industry. By improving a forecast and production synergy, we will be able to capture closer to our market sales potential which will keep our inventory carry costs down and our ROS up. * Return on assets (ROA) ROA shows how successful a company is in generating profits on the amount of assets they own. Since assets consist of debt and equity, ROA is a measure of how well a company converts investment dollars into profit. The higher the percentage, the more profit a company is generating per dollar of investment. Similar to ROS, this ratio needs to be looked at compared to the industry as different industries have different requirements that can affect ROA. For example, companies in the airline and mining industries need expensive assets to operate so will have lower ROA s compared to companies in the pharmaceutical or advertising industries. The table below shows our ROA for each year compared to the industry. The graph following shows the ROA for Andrews alone over time. Our ROA is a similar tale to the ROS, as we ... • 5. New York Jets Case Study To start the 2018 off season, the New York Jets had one of the biggest cap spaces in the league. It s fair to say that they took advantage, making many marquee signings. This roster is going to look very different from last year after a revamp of the cornerback group and quarterback room to name a couple of positions. Let s look at who will make the final 53 man roster. Josh McCown (left) and rookie QB Sam Darnold (right) Quarterback: Starter: Josh McCown Depth: Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold Cut: N/A After failed 2nd round pick Christian Hackenberg was traded to the Raiders for a 7th round pick, I don t expect any changes to the QB room in New York. Josh McCown gets the start because of his surprisingly adequate play last year and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mo Claiborne is a solid 2nd CB but has dealt with injuries for the last couple of years. And Buster Skrine isn t a great player and commits a lot of penalties, but is formidable for a nickel role. Don t be surprised if 6th round pick out of Tulane, Parry Nickerson takes over Skrine s spot through the season. He s a very quick, agile corner who had the fastest 40 yard dash time at the combine at 4.32. Out of the players who I think will be cut, Rashard Robinson has been the biggest disappointment, after trading a 5th round pick for him in the middle of the 2017 season, he had 2 tackles in 6 games and the Jets will be glad to put this behind them. Jeremy Clark and Derrick Jones, who were both picked last year haven t played bad, but they may become victims of an overcrowded CB ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Innate Sexual Identity I believe people are born with an innate sexual identity that they can not change. I base this belief on books and articles of scientific research that I have read over the years. However, I believe many individuals lie to themselves and/or to others about their sexual identity due to social pressures. I believe that many parents who disrespect homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgendered people openly in front of their children may trigger the children into repressing their sexual identities. As an example, if a homosexual child were born into a family who does not approve of homosexuality he or she may be inclined to pretend to be heterosexual. I believe many individuals even get married and have children with opposite sex partners, while denying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The White Heron By Sarah Jewett In the short story the White Heron (1886), Sarah Jewett portrays a young little girl, Sylvia, bear the temptation of money and affection from the young man with mental struggle, and resolutely determined to protect the fairy of nature a white heron. Through describing Sylvia s authentic emotions and using of vivid theme colors and exquisite word choice, Jewett delivers the story like showing a lifelike 19 century country life drama in front of the readers. The beauty of the story is about authentically conveying the author s emotion experience, depicting the true feeling of the characters, and delivering the thought process by putting readers into their shoes, in order to create resonance with the readers, like her emotion for the love of nature, for her struggle towards money, and for the crush she had towards the hunter. Sylvia s love of nature showed from As for Sylvia herself, it seemed as if she had never been alive at all before she came to live at the farm. (5) . She found her real self here, embracing the nature, knowing every life that lived here, and fully enjoying the freedom in the woods, just like a jungle fairy. Sylvia s struggle towards the hunter is also lifelike. The hunter used the money to tempt Sylvia, which drove her crazy. No amount of thought, could decide how many wished for treasure the ten dollars, so lightly spoken, would buy . • 8. What Does Dover Push And Digging Mean Message Dover, Thrush and Digging There are many messages in this poem. Dover, Thrush and Digging is a very synthetic poem and gives many reason why and how we live our lives. Some always question their lives and here are some things that we need to live by. Like don t take your youth for granted, don t let old age get to you and don t mess up while you are young because it will catch up to you. Also I m going into depth with them. To begin, Dover is about don t take your youth for granted because their will be things you will regret and there will be things you wished you did while you had the energy and the spirit. The things you could regret; would be like making some really stupid decisions. You could have been a rebel when you were in your youth. Like if you broke your back for doing a dare and now that you re older you have some really bad pains and can t really do much. Also there could be like if you got a girl pregnant and you were really young so you had to start working at a really young and had to quit school, so then you wouldn t have as much education under your belt. Then that means that you will be stuck working a job that you don t like and you can t get a better if have someone that you love kills you. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Lucille Ball Research Paper The Goddess of Comedy By Annie Nichol TV Guide once said that Lucille Ball was seen by more people more often than the face of any other human being who has ever lived. INSERT TRANSITION SENTENCE HERE. Lucille Ball is the greatest actress that has ever lived because of her ability to overcome obstacles and her overwhelming amount of accomplishments. The beginning of Lucy s life was nothing but struggles and hardships, but it made Lucy stronger and pushed her to succeed. At the extraordinarily young age of 3, her father, Henry Durrell Ball, passed away from typhoid fever. Being Lucy s first significant memory, that haunted her for the rest of her life. To save her and Desi s marriage, she insisted that Desi be cast has her television husband, playing the role of Ricky Ricardo. The show I Love Lucy aired in October of 1951 and within 4 months was the #1 TV show in the Nation. After all of Lucy s struggles and set backs, she got her BIG shot to stardom, that she so dearly deserved, and was accomplishing so much. I Love Lucy changed TV and broke many racial barriers. It was the first show to have a hispanic actor in a leading role and to have a live studio audience. This was a concept dreamed up by Desi. It would pull together the element of being aired around the world and having millions watching with the element of a stage/play production with an audience. It was also the first show to deal with pregnancy in a straightforward manner, when Lucy got pregnant with their second child in the second season of I Love Lucy ( Lucille Ball People). I know its hard to believe, but back in the 1950 s TV was very modest and reserve. For example, when it was announced that Lucy was pregnant, their bedroom set piece that was originally two twin beds pushed together and shared, were immeadatly pushed apart to different sides of the room. Also, when discussing Lucy s pregnancy on the show, the actors were not allowed to say Lucy was pregnant. They were told to just say, she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Call Of The Wild Character Analysis The Missions of Buck, Ghulam Ali, and Theodore There are many different people that have taken on missions and have found a way to accomplish them. From The Call of The Wild, Buck wanted to adapt and survive in the Klondike. In The Other Side of The Sky , Ghulam needed to find a new way into Pakistan to better the life of two families. Out of Kid Lawyer, Theodore wanted to find his kidnapped friend and not lose their friendship. However, all three were determined to work hard for their goal because they all needed it to live happily. Buck was a sweet house dog whose goal was to adapt and survive in the Klondike. He was stolen and taken to a new place that he had never been before. Once he saw a dog was killed due to her injury, he knew he was going to have to adapt and survive on his own in the Klondike. Along the way Buck endured many hardships, he was in a fight to the death for the leadership position, he could tell he was going to need fight and he did, he used his imagination and successfully defeated Spitz. The passage states, Buck stood and looked on, the successful champion, the dominant primordial beast (London 35). This displays that Buck has evolved and can kill his own kind. While on his journey, Buck could feel himself change, his fur got thicker, his feet solidified and he became faster. For instance, The dominant primordial beast was strong in Buck, and under the fierce condition of trail life it grew and grew (London 23). This proves that Buck is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Walls In Into The Wild Walls are built to keep things out. Walls are also built to keep things within a designated area. Much like the wall s structural cousin, the fence, they serve a myriad of purposes across the eons of history. Some may even claim that they have a yuge impact on our societies. Jon Krakauer inadvertently explores the internal walls we build to contain our deepest fears, insecurities and aspirations while he researches the demise of Chris Mccandless in his non fiction piece titled Into The Wild. Sean Penn does likewise in his adaption of the book to film. Like many people, Chris had built a wallto protect himself from the traumas of his childhood and fears of the world around him. Believe Chris; he knew walls better than anybody, for he lived within the thin walls of a bus in the middle of nowhere for 114 days. However the Alaskan wilderness was not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene includes Chris teasing Franz, calling him an old man who sits around all day. Franz denies these charges and overcomes the limits imposed by his aging body to chase Chris up a sand dune. Franz is never described or portrayed as a man who leaves the house much so his time alone with Chris definitely shows that his true nature is caring and fatherly. Chris himself barely shows much attraction to others, even the fictional girl he meets in Slab City in the film, but shows great affection for Franz before he departs for Alaska. However the reason that this scene does more harm than good to the narrative is that it leads to nowhere. There is no impact of his departure portrayed on screen since Chris just marches away into the sunset. More justice could have been shown to Franz as he comes closest to the idea that one only truly knows themselves when they are out of their comfort zone since Chris is too sucked into his own romanticised ideals to reflect this sentiment ... • 12. Heeding Literary Omens In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men Preciado 1 Lizeth Preciado Deborah Sidler Pre AP English 9: 2A December 1st, 2017 The Importance of Heeding Literary Omens: Of Mice and Men The novel, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, depicts the unfortunate tale of two men traveling in search of labor. Lennie Small, and George Milton, born and raised in Auburn, settle in Salinas valley making their living as ranch hands. Conflict arises as Lennie struggles to heed George s words and eventually Lennie suffers his downfall at the hand of his best friend. John Steinbeck used foreshadowing in, Of Mice and Men, to express and reveal the sentiments behind characters actions and personalities throughout the novel, demonstrating the importance of foreshadowing to deepen the understanding of major events in a novel. The author utilizes the setting of the book to foreshadow the differences in Lennie and George s characters. Before they are introduced, Steinbeck describes the diverse region of mountains and streams close to George and Lennie s destination. The area is separated by a river with one side harboring, golden foothill slopes [which] curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter s flooding, (Steinbeck 1). Steinbeck uses the contrast in the opposite sides of the river to foreshadow the variation in the mental and physical aspects of his two main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance Surveillance One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600 as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct and behavior are internalized by members of society. Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance. Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille. Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that might not. Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, coherence focused on semantic relationships at a primary level. On the other hand, cohesion has many formal linguistic features repetition and reference. The social structure and family life of the two colonies varied greatly. Some what different from this was the government that was present in the New England colonies. As with many other aspects of life, the Puritans government was based on family. According to the essay The Godly Family of Colonial Massachusetts, The household not the individual was the fundamental unit of society. The political order was not an agglomeration of detached individuals; it was an organic unity composed of families. (The Way We Lived 43). Since the political decisions were based on families instead of the individuals themselves, each Puritan household received only one vote on issues that were presented. As was customary in the time, the father would represent the head of the household at the polls. If the husband was not able to go to the polls then it would be handed down to the wife and she would represent the family at the poles. Another major difference between the Chesapeake Bay colonies and the New England colonies was religion. The street toughs and roughnecks who settled in the Chesapeake Bay colonies were not very churchly people although occasionally someone would comment on the need for churches and more importantly schools. During the French revolution, terrorism was developed the first time, and some groups of people gathered to clean the evils of monarchy. They want to overthrow the weak government and establish a new one that can bring them a better life. After that, terrorism was expanded to the Soviet, and it became the best tool for them to control people, including their lifestyle and their own privacy. Superflab is a synthetic oil gel based on vinyl plastic composed of disodecyl phthalate. The maximum dose buildup (Dmax) is when 100% of the dose is deposited beneath a patient s skin. Alternative bolus materials are tissue equivalent materials placed on a patient s skin surface to increase or even out the surface dose. The composition of alternative bolus materials can include anything from wet gauze to Play Doh to rice. The purpose of this study is to test the Dmax for various bolus materials when compared to Superflab. Walker et al. The researchers wanted to determine if Play Doh and water soaked gauze were adequate alternatives to Superflab. At the beginning they accurately measured the radiation doses to be less than 10.0 cGy. Description Of The s Exchange Principle Introduction Locard s exchange principle states that every contact leaves a trace indicating that trace evidence left by the perpetrator will always be found in the scene of crime (1). These trace evidence include hair follicles, to sweat, to skin cells and footwear impression, etc. They are valuable information that can incriminate a person and enable the law to carry out appropriate punishment. The value of these evidence will however decrease if they are not treated or processed appropriately (2). Footwear impressions are marks made by the outer surface of the sole of a footwear (outsole for shoes) (3). These marks are distinctive patterns that belong to specific shoetypes and manufacturers (2,3). Therefore, an impression that found at a crime scene can be used to identify the shoe type and or specific shoe. Footwear impression identification is based on matching random individual wear characteristics formed on the shoe by its wearer during its life (2,3). Therefore, footwear impression analysis can be proven difficult due to the large number of footwear outsole pattern designs (2,3). These impressions form when the footwear is pressed on a surface and the outsole pattern is transferred onto that surface (2, 3). Footwear impressions are classed into two main groups, two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D). The 3D prints are those that are found on substrates such as snow or mud while 2D prints are those formed on floors or carpets (3). Useful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Love Languages Of The Children It is a universal truth that we all need love in our lives. We all have different ways in which we like to receive and give love. Many of us may not even realize that we do. Gary Chapman writes about five different ways in which we love and titles them five love languages. It is important to identify how we love, because it can allow us to have a happier life and make other people s lives better. It is especially important to identify the love languages of the children which we encounter, because it can shape their identity either for the better or worse. There are five major love languages that can be identified and can pretty much sum up the best ways we can express our love. The five love languages are touch, words of affirmation, giving, time, and service. A child s love languagecan be identified in two ways, through observation and through communication, which pretty much also depends on their love language. We can observe the childand see if he enjoys touching his parents and siblings, or if he does things and then looks to see what the parent will say or perhaps just sits next to their siblings and follows them around. Love languages are adaptable and although most humans have all the love languages, some are stronger than others. The love languages of the parents effects what the love languages of the children will be. For example if the parents hug a lot or if they buy gifts for each other the child can adopt that gift and want to use it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Release 10 of LTE is the version that is approved by the ITU R as an IMT Advanced technology and so is called LTE Advanced. Release 10 of the LTE that came out in March 2011 included carrier aggregation, enhanced downlink MIMO, uplink MIMO, enhanced ICIC and advanced relays. Following the Release 10 came the Release 11 that incorporated enhanced carrier aggregation and additional intra band carrier aggregation. In 2008 the work associated with IMT Advanced within the ITU R circulated the detailed requirements and process via a circular letter. For 3GPP, LTE advanced is not a new technology but is an evolutionary step in the ongoing development of LTE. To reach the IMT Advanced standards, wider bandwidth by aggregation of various multiple carriers and evolved use of advanced antenna techniques in both downlink and uplink are the two main phenomenon added in the Release 10 of LTE. The transmission scheme used for this technology is called OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) which is also prevalent in other radio access technologies like WiMax and DVB broadcasting technologies. The work on LTE started in the late 2004 with the aim of providing new radio access technology that focused on packet switched data. The tasks include user/system, throughput, peak data rates, spectral efficiency and user plane latency. ITU defined a set of requirements for IMT Advanced which include support for a ... Frequently surrounded by so called friends or acquaintances, as I like to call them, where a connection between people is little to nonexistent. Whereas having a true friend is someone who s there for you no matter what, for the marvelous and the dreadful. It s theses kind of true friends that will have one s back, they are loyal, trustworthy, and a valuable person to have in anyone s life. To better understand what the word friend, it s important to know the history. To begin with, it derives from Middle English the word friend means love, attachment, and feeling that of a relative. First notably used in the twelfth century. Therefore a friend is someone who listens to what one is saying and cares about them their feelings and opinion. On the other hand, at times it feels like my friendships are a bit one sided, where I do the majority of listening. As a result of this, I ve discovered a notable difference between a friend and a true friend, in a friendship; there are talkers and listeners. Except in a true friendship, where neither claim a specific role, both are talkers and the listeners. Thus it s fair to say a true friend is someone who can laugh at me, and make fun of my awkward moments with me, and vice versa. In other words, it s these types of friends are the best because, we work as a team, both sides adding to the relationship. However, it s more than using someone as a gossip pal or to ... This paper will explore this theory and will utilize data in order to confirm if this is, in fact, the case. Woodson addresses many issues that have been and are still prevalent in the African American community. Woodson believed that in the midst of receiving education, blacks lost sight of their original reasons for becoming educated. He believed that many blacks became educated only to assimilate to white culture and attempt to become successful under white standards, instead of investing in their communities and applying their knowledge to help other blacks. Many small black children who dress well and have high grades in school are made fun of and picked on by their less fortunate peers. Black high school students who drive nice cars and live in upper class neighborhoods are sometimes labeled as bourgeois by their peers who come from working or lower class families. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Abstract Abstract NMR is a form of spectroscopy that utilizes external magnetic fields and signals to identify the chemical structure of organic molecules, creating a gradient image. Through applying an applied Radio Frequency, the proton is able to flip into higher energy states, and then relax. This process is recorded by a NMR Spectrometer, and the difference in energy provides it with a certain NMR Signal. The difference in the magnetic fields of the allows for a gradient image of the area. There are various types of imaging that are useful for fast imaging or 3D imaging such as Gradient Echo Imaging or Volume Imaging. There are both useful and detrimental aspects to this newfound relationship between television and politics. Sources A and E describe the more useful aspects of television within the political sphere, whereas Sources B and C portray the contrastingly detrimental aspects. Television has become useful in keeping the public informed as to public issues, political rivalries and of course, the political elections. One of the great contributions expected of television lay in its presumed capacity to inform and stimulate the political interests of the American electorate, (Source A), suggests the increased communication between the public and their political system. Citizens are able to receive a quick, presumably reliable source of information they otherwise would usually receive later, with less details, and second hand. The televised events create a new, immediate contact with political events (Source A), which is important as technology allows for greater global and national communication. Additionally, Source E portrays the importance of public opinion and the sway of television over political leaders for significant events. With paid sick leave, it is easier for an individual can take time off work to recuperate. This has multiple benefits. Firstly, it allows the individual to recuperate before health levels become extremely low. Extremely low levels of health will result in more ER visits and a longer recovery period. Secondly, if the individual has an infectious disease then paid sick leave allows the individual to recover and it prevents the infection from spreading to other people in the organization. Lastly, the improved health (due to recuperation) will increase employee productivity in subsequent periods at work. Hence paid sick leave will reduce ER visits over the course of the individual s life. 3) A study shows that availability of after hours care by primary physicians reduces emergency room visits. Based on this study we can infer that it is likely that some of these individuals are forced to visit emergency rooms due the unavailability of after hours care by primary physicians and lack of paid sick leave to reach the primary care physician during regular work hours. On the other hand, Sexton creates a tone that is much lighter by using words that have neutral or positive connotations. Her choice of diction does not hint either way whether her relationship with her father was good or bad, it seems to stay neutral which reflects her objective tone throughout the poem. She begins to introduce him as a born salesman in line 1 and a born talker in line 4, which at most, infers that he was a charismatic person (1,4). Sexton goes on to list everything he was in line 15 stating he was a peddler, a hawker, a merchant and an Indian Chief (15). By these descriptions her father does not appear to be out of the ordinary. He was just a traveler, committed to his work and not much else. The way she describes him also seems to be observational so possibly her relationship with him was distanced and unattached. Therefore, the tone echoes the theme that the relationship she had with her father because their relationship was disconnected and that was the emotion provoked as she remembered him.
