Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion
Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being
called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of
the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of
the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view
Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and
Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic
religions.
Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of
all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome
the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to
God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. The LORD would speak to Moses face to
face, as a man speaks with his friend. But after getting the 10 commandments Moses ... Show more

Why The Collapse Of Patron And Broker
The Collapse of Patron and Broker
Throughout the 19th century, American government on the local, state, and federal level all utilized
patronage to amass political support in exchange for jobs and distributive goods. However, as the
century came to an end, there was a shift from this tradition to one that slowly transformed
bureaucracy from a spoils system to one of merit. There are many competing theories on why this
civil service reform emerged the way it did in the United States. Different test subjects were
investigated how and why merit penetrated the bureaucracy concluded that competition among
political parties when the majority began to see wavering support, but a more compelling view saw it
as a means for politicians to lighten their workload.
In his paper outlining the functions of political parties and bureaucracies throughout American history,
Martin Shefter uses the Progressive Era to illustrate how the decline of political party power leads to
bureaucratic reform. The party realignment of 1896 culminated in weak political parties that often had
one party in charge at a regional level. Consequently, any minority faction was useless in challenging
majority party policies. Unable to make a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to keep their large bureaucracies efficient. When controlled for lame duck congressmen, there is not a
significant difference in the way in which they voted, muddying Ting s argument that reform is the
result of such representatives who have an interest in making sure their replacement cannot exercise
too much power. They were able to determine this by creating dummy variables that corresponded to
the first three years of a president s term and measured the ability of a lame duck president to blanket

Shoko Asahara Cult
At first, the religion of Shoko Asahara, Aum Shinrikyo, now the cult Aleph was not the dangerous and
threatening organization its image is associated to be now. In fact, there was a time where Asahara and
Aum Shinrikyo members had taken up an attitude similar to that of a humble missionary. However,
the Aum Shinrikyo faith, as well as Asahara, had been obsessed with some of the philosophies of the
Bible, the Book of Revelation in particular, and had an unfortunate turnaround, which resulted in the
religion s currently bad reputation. This cult is a perfect example to show what Paul meant when he
said that false christs pretend to be holy servants of God. Originally named Chizuo Matsumoto, Shoko

The religion also holds the claim that Asahara is the only person to have attained the highest level of
consciousness and that he is in the state of Nirvana; Asahara even claimed to be Christ. Tibetan beliefs
of extrasensory experiences are also included in the Aum Shinrikyo faith, with clairvoyance,
levitation, and the ability to see through walls being some of these extrasensory abilities that Asahara
promoted and claimed to have (news.bbc.co.uk; fas.org). According to John Pike, the Aum Shinrikyo
faith strongly promoted Shiva, the god of destruction, and thus put a particular emphasis on
Armageddon, or the end of the world. Asahara claimed salvation from this destruction for those who
reached higher levels of consciousness by going through him, the Supreme Master ; their reincarnated
states would hold a special status amongst others. Apparently, this Armageddon was going to involve a
third world war in 1997 that would be initiated between Japan and the United States; one supposed
goal of Aum Shinrikyo was their involved their salvation activities during this time and the revival of
the Japanese nation after the collapse of their country. Members of Aum Shinrikyo were also very anti
Semitic, and put part of the blame for this onto the Jews (fas.org). Putting the skeptical claims of
extrasensory experiences aside for now, the beliefs of Aum Shinrikyo concerning the Bible,

Corruption In The Federal Government
Political corruption in the United States is present an at least one of the three branches of government
in all fifty states but is most common in the Legislative branch. Ending political corruption is nearly
impossible because public officials will always find a loophole in the existing laws but reducing
corruption is possible. The most efficient way to dramatically reducing political corruption is by
targeting the Legislative branch of the United States government. Two members of Congress are
trying to exactly do that by proposing a law, At the federal level, that would impose term limits on
members of Congress. Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Ron DeSantis are both pushing an
amendment to be added to the United States Constitution which would impose term limits on
members of the House of Representative and the Senate. Political corruption in the legislative branch
of the federal government is a problem because members of Congress will favor special interest rather
than their constituent. A law that was passed at the federal level to try solving this problem is the
Honest Leadership and Open Government Act and a proposed law at the state level Ohio
Strengthening Term Limits on State Legislators Amendment but both laws don t go far enough. By
Imposing term limits on Congress it will help reduce political corruption because it will constantly
bring new faces to Congress which will make it harder for special interest to have a grip on Congress.

monopoly position of Faboil Ltd has slowly eroded away and faces two competitors. The major causes

because she thought it is Joanne s specialism and is from a moral point of view, but Joanne refused to
take on the additional workload because she thought that she is carrying out what Richard asked of

relationship, unequal power distribution, unclear roles responsibilities and limited resources. The
cause for the conflict of Carole is the different goals. The incorrect authority of Richard leads to the
vague of working role, and in a great degree leads to the conflict. The consequence is that reducing
personal and organizational performance, damaging to physical and emotional well being, increasing

Hbr Solution Unidentified Industries Essay
The Case of the Unidentified Industries 1995
Solution:
In order to find out the exact firm by analysing the financial structure of typical firms, first we need to
separate those firms which have zero inventory turnover (A, B, F and H) from those firms which have
zero debt ratio which in our case are (E, H and J) and we use the information to narrow down the
possibilities of each firm. In this case there are three groups of companies: 1) Firms having zero
inventory turnover. 2) Firms having zero debt. 3) Firms having all financial ratios given.
1) Firms having zero inventory turnover:
Under the category of zero inventories, there are four companies. The nature of these companies show
that they are not involved in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Firm H. Health Maintenance Organisation:
Health care organisations do business on cash basis. They provide proper medical services to different
people and they receive cash when operation ends and they don t use any debt to finance their
operating activities. The capital structure of this firm shows a zero inventory turnover and a huge
amount of cash from the customers from which partially is used to pay current liabilities and the
remaining is in the form of retain earning.
2) Firms having zero debt:
Under this category there are three firms which have zero debt ratios because the nature of these firms
show that all the financing is done by equity.
Firm E. Retail Drug Chain:
This type of business seems to be sole proprietor and the financial structure of this firm has maximum
number of inventories and zero level of debt financing. Most of the drug retailers usually have a large
amount of inventories due to any emergency situation and demand for the medicines is usually high.
In this case the high asset turnover shows that the firm is effectively doing business by selling off its
assets which in this case is medicines to generate more and more cash.

Jung Typology Personality Analysis
The results of my DISC Assessment test were extremely interesting, and in my opinion, quite accurate
as well. My results showed that I am very decisive and interactive, then I am moderately stable, but
not very cautious, systematic, or much of a perfectionist. These results also tied in fairly closely with
my Jung Typology personality test results, which I will explain throughout the latter portion of my
paper. My DISC results also ranked my seven dimensions of value and motivation. Not surprisingly
for me, altruistic was my highest value, sitting at 93 out of 100. This is because I have a very high
sincerity and genuine interest in helping others. As well as I am a giving person who desires to provide

These results were interesting to me because it indicated that I have a moderate preference of
extraversion over introversion; a moderate preference of sensing over intuition; and a moderate
preference of feeling over thinking. Each one of these characteristics were favorable by 38%. I found
this to be odd that all three of these traits were at a preference of exactly 38%. However, for my last
letter, my results indicated that I have marginal or no preference of judging over perceiving. Judging
was only favored by 3%, and therefore, that is why the ESFP personality type can also be a fit for me.
By simply looking at the four words indicated by the letters of my results, I believe that each one is
pretty accurate. However, I definitely would have predicted more than a moderate preference of
extraversion over introversion. I probably would have guess that extraversion would be favored by 70
80%, not by only 38%. I was also quite surprised that judging was only favored by 3% over

The Liberal Arts Education Is Better Than A Education
Now that I am in college, I have pondered upon whether a liberal arts education is better than a
vocational education; a topic that did not cross my mind in high school. A liberal arts curriculum
includes the studies intended to primarily provide general knowledge such as language, philosophy,
literature, and abstract science and to develop general intellectual capacities, such as reason and
judgment, as opposed to professional or vocational skills (merriam webster.com). As students wanting
to achieve a higher education, we have to think about what we want for ourselves. Either you want to
grow as an individual and obtain a major in whichever field you chose, or just learn what best interests
you. People have many misconceptions toward what the liberal arts are and how they can benefit you.
We often hear things like, A liberal arts degree will not get you a real job. or A liberal arts degree is a
luxury not a necessity. Although this is what the majority of the people who are not aware about the
actual facts say, this is not true. An examination of, The New Liberal Arts by author Sanford J. Ungar,
and Are Too Many People Going to College? by author Charles Murray, will reveal to us why one
gains more knowledge at a liberal arts school. Murray argues that a liberal arts education is only for
the elite, but I believe that they shouldn t be the only ones to attend because my vision of a liberal arts
college is one where all students come in with the appropriate amount of

Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant
Fantabulous Restaurants,
It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and
me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame
exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the
grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The
next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow
catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this
restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber
Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good
restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think
about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes
any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant
that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly
Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best
bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive
qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food.

Frame Narrative
The way in which a story is organized or complied adds to the ideas, themes, and character of the
story. A frame narrative is a way in which a story is told were a main story leads reader into other
stories within. Essentially a frame narrative is a story within another story. As in the story One
Thousand and One Night the frame narrative is used to tell many different stories within the main
story. Although the stories in One Thousand and One Nights are separate from the main story the
stories are still relative to the main idea. In One Thousand and One Night the separate stories within

and message of the story. The Canterbury tales examines a group of people who are making a
pilgrimage to Canterbury. The journey is quite a long one and it is suggested by the host that they each

story which is indicative of the frame narrative. Although, each stories differ from one another they all
add in some way to the overall story of Canterbury Tales. Some stories such as the Night s Tale are
about great valor and chivalry, while other are less serious and more satirical. Here this quote is

The Sons Of Liberty And Their Influence On Colonial Rule
Throughout the latter half of the 16th Century, the Sons of Liberty were highly significant in
propagating discontent towards colonial rule in America, ultimately leading to its independence. The
Surge in the number of patriotic revolutionary groups, seen in the late 1700 s, can be attributed to the
Sons of Liberty and their influence on the public s attitude towards colonial rule. Numerous forms of
propaganda were used by the Sons, reflecting poorly upon colonial rule, therefore furthering
discontent amongst the population. Additionally, the lack of British military enforcement in its
colonial states allowed the Sons to publicly express their revolutionary ideas, a concept rapidly
increasing in popularity. Concurrently, the spread of revolutionary thinking was also expressed during
the Boston Tea Party, in which the Sons received increased support in the Anti British demonstration.
Although the Sons inflicted majority of revolutionary feelings amongst the American population, King
George III also encouraged his own opposition with the imposition of several taxes and laws with the
purpose to restrict colonial rights. Concomitantly, the opposition to tyrannical Britain was increased
through the failed attempt to remove the Sons from Lexington and Concord, causing the immediate
backlash of public support for colonial rule.
Throughout the 1760 s, the Sons of Liberty influenced a major increase in colonial revolutionary
thinkers; through conducting successful demonstrations

Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books that we are familiar with today; in particular, the Little House
series. Even before Laura Ingalls Wilder had the fame of the books, which were not published until
later in her life, she would write short nonfiction pieces for newspapers and magazines (Hines). Laura
Ingalls Wilder started first as a teacher, fell in love with and married Almanzo Wilder which caused
her to quit teaching, and subsequently had two children a daughter named Rose and a son who died
soon after his birth. Although Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books which are what gained her
lasting success; she also wrote essays about her outlook on life as well as politics during WWI. Rose,
her daughter, grew up and like her mother eventually began to write for a newspaper. She encouraged
her mother to write about her childhood. The original story Ms. Wilder wrote was very different than
the one we are familiar with today. Originally called, Pioneer Girl, it was a first person account
covering her life from about the time she was three until the age of eighteen, and began with the words

My Passion For Cooking Essay
I ve always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning
about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days it
isn t even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it s a classic, but something that I ve created. Cooking is
my time to be me. It s the art form I pride myself at being good at and I don t have to try (unlike
drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new foods
and ingredients. My mind feels at home when it s in the process of creating in the kitchen. It s fun
getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a pinch of this
and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward of my creativity is
taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I ve done is fully realized when I can
share my work with others.
Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax for
a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I ve never heard of before, what pairs best with this spice or
that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could go on for
hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still find joy in the
art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself.

Drug Addiction Essay
The Problem of Drugs Drugs are a threat to a healthy world. They put extreme stress on our families,
society, and government. Above all though, they put extreme stress on the user. Various drugs have
different effects on the body, but they share one aspect, they are addictive. Once you fall into an
addiction, you fall captive to a drug. Your life and your decisions are dictated by your addiction. For
this reason, drugs are extremely dangerous. Different drugs have effects of varying severities on our
families, society, selves, and our healthcare programs. Our families are the closest people to us, and
what we do affects our family members. Tobacco is the most burdensome drug on families. Tobacco is
dangerous to a user s family s health. Tobacco is most commonly used through smoking and smoking
causes detrimental damage to health. It increases the risk of cancer and lung disease. Along with these
damages to a user, their families breathe in the second hand smoke which is even worse than smoking
yourself. A tobacco user not only endangers themselves, but endangers their entire family when they
smoke. Along with putting their family s health at risk, a tobacco user also spends a great amount of
money on tobacco products. According to Visually, the average smoker in Minnesota smokes a pack
of cigarettes a day. That s a cost of $9 a day minimum, which adds up to $3,285 a year, and that is a

Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden
A serial killer can be defined as a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent
motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. (McGraw Hill) While
there have always been serial killers, the 1880 s had some of the most significant. Two of the most
notorious were Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden. While neither were convicted for their crimes, they
will both go down in history as some of the world s most brutal killers.
In Whitechapel, London in 1888, an insane serial killer roamed the streets who became known as the
Whitechapel Butcher. (Jones) No one knows who actually did it so over the years the murderer
became known as Jack the Ripper. He targeted prostitutes and brutally mutilated their bodies. A total
of women were murdered all of the murders happened with a mile of each other. He was not laid back
in how he handled the murders and cut them apart in such a way that was used to clearly show he
knew what he was doing. (Cook) The cuts and placement of said cuts were positioned and thought out
in a way only a medical professional would think to put them so it is concluded he had to be involved
in the medical field. (Biography.com Editors) There were also letters sent to the police. These were
suspected to be written by him but there was never firm proof and were passed off as fake. One of the

The Point Of Theatre And Motion Picture Technology
The point of theatre is transformation: to make an extraordinary event out of ordinary material right in
front of an audience s eyes. Where the germ of the idea came from is pretty much irrelevant. What
matters to every theatre maker, I know, is speaking clearly to the audience right now. This quote by
English playwright and screenwriter, Lee Hall, from an essay he published in the Times of London, is
central to the connection between theatre and motion picture technology. Since the rise of film in the
early twentieth century, these elements have been influencing each other, and working together, to
elevate the storytelling and experience of each medium and, in turn, better connecting them to the
modern audience. The collaboration of these two mediums has resulted in a new form of theatre,
known as digital theatre, that shows theatrical entertainment does not have to be either purist
(involving only live actors on stage), or be consumed by the dominant televisual mass media, but can
gain from the strengths of both types of communication. (Masura). Throughout this paper, the

The Features Of Bio Tower
FEATURES OF BIO TOWER:
1) Aeration by natural draught
Plastic Media have increased the BOD5 removal levels 90% apart from increasing the organic and
hydraulic Loading rates. The plastic media offer very low resistance to air, provides Maximum contact
of air, waste bio mass, provide thousands of crossover points per m3, thus leading to a very good
aeration by natural draught or ventilation. The air requirement is met by providing Ventilation
openings in the wall, at the bottom of the Improved Bio Tower, having a size of 4 6% of the cross
sectional area of the Bio Filter. This way a daily air volume of more than 100 m3 air per m3 of fill
circulates to provide the necessary oxygen to the microorganisms. Fig.no.5.2.Aeration by natural
draught
The Oxidation of Organic matter in waste water and synthesis of new microbial cells takes place in
following way:
Oxidation
COHNS + O2 → CO2 + NH3 +C5H7NO2 + Other end products
Organic matter Bacteria New cells
Endogenous respiration
C5H7NO2 + 5O2 → 5CO2 + 2H2O + NH3 + energy New cells Bacteria

Comparison Of Mattias Grünewald And Peter Paul Rubens
What could be the difference between the art influences with 100 years? Mattias Grünewald and Peter
Paul Rubens are artists from two different eras. Both were influenced their work with the Catholic
religion. The two have painted very similarly alters that are both of the crucifixions of Christ. They
both show how much pain and agony with the way they portrayed their Christ.
Mattias Grünewald a German artist born in 1475 in the city of Wurzburg, Germany. He was widely
known as the greatest German Renaissance artist no matter what century for his religious paintings
and drawings. He gave the audiences a visionary experience seeing how intense the expressionism and
color attributed to his works. We can only find 10 pieces associated to Grünewald with the earliest
dated from 1503 so in his late 20 s is when we start to see his art pieces. Mr. Grünewald didn t always
follow the rules of Renaissance art he would lean more towards the late medieval period. In Germany,
there was German Renaissance movement that advanced throughout the Germans but was divided by
politics and religion which caused some of them to go into Italy to view where it was originated from

Material And The Design Of Football Helmets Essay
Material Use in the Design of Football Helmets: Importance of helmets in concussion Prevention By:
Luc E. Desroches 5/7/15 Introduction American football has been around for over one hundred years,
and along with the sport has been the need to provide proper safety for the players. An assortment of
padding has been instituted in the game that protects against most blunt trauma including blows to the
shoulders, mid section, and legs. In an attempt to prevent fracture of the skull, helmets were designed.
However, studies have shown that helmets do little to nothing to prevent concussive damage to the
brain. A polycarbonate shell is used as the outer housing for regulation football helmets, but along
with this material, the materials used on the inside of the helmet are just as, if not more, important.
The purpose of this report is to analyze the materials used in current football helmet design and the
improvements being made in the field of materials science in order to combat the severe number of
concussions suffered by NFL players. Concussions There is a large amount of ambiguity when
diagnosing concussions. Since there is no definitive test that can be run on the brain while a person is
alive to determine if they have suffered a concussion, recording an accurate number of concussions is
difficult in the NFL or any sport for that matter. A concussion, in the simplest terms, is a jarring of the
brain that is caused by a blow to the head or body. Traditional thinking led

The Departed Comparative Essay
In 2002, the film Infernal Affairs was released in Hong Kong, telling the tale of an undercover officer
named Yan who is a mole within the ranks of a mafia called the triads and trying to take the
organization down Yet Inspector Lau on the Hong Kong police force is a mole for the triads. The two
race to uncover the respective moles while fighting to maintain their cover. Due to the film s
popularity, an American director, by the name of Martin Scorsese, created an American adaptation of
Infernal Affairs titled The Departed in 2006. While both films show stark differences due to the
cultural differences between Hong Kong and Boston, the city in which The Departed takes place, they
both convey different perspectives of corruption. While Infernal Affairs views corruption as hiding

more rugged, the characters are clearly rattled and violent, and the dark colors create a dreary
atmosphere as a result of Queenan being caught in the crossfire of taking down Costello and end his
corruption upon Boston. As a result, Scoresese places the audience to be trapped in the corruption

Animal Cruelty in Slaughter Houses Essay
Draft 2
What are currently the poor conditions for animals in the American slaughterhouses, what are the
causes of these conditions, and what are the best methods for preventing slaughterhouse cruelty?
The conditions for animals in modern slaughterhouses are unsanitary and violent. The lack of rules
and regulations cause animals to be treated poorly because this industry is focused on mass production
and profit rather than finding a more humane alternative to run the meat packing business. The most
effective method to stop this cruelty is to learn about where meat comes from, start supporting the
organic and family farms which will ultimately lead to the reducing the amount of animals that have to
suffer.

After, another belt takes them to where a worker cuts their throat and allows them to bleed out. Some
animals are hung up side down by their back legs and move through the processing line where their
necks will be cut one by one (Dugan). Sometimes one of these methods will not work and the animal
will be disassembled while still conscious.
For most humans, especially for those in modern urban and suburban communities, the most direct
form or contact with non human animals is at meal time: we eat them. This simple fact is the key to
what each one of us can do about changing these attitudes. The use and abuse of animals raised for
food far exceeds, in sheer numbers of animals affected, any other kind of mistreatment (Coats). The
most effective method to stop this cruelty is to learn about where the meat comes from, by supporting
the organic and family farms which will ultimately lead to the reducing the amount of animals that
have to suffer (PETA). More than 95 percent of animal abuse in America occurs in the meat packing
industry (Harper Low). Animals suffer an unimaginable amount, they are raised to be killed, then
bought and then consumed. In order to help fight back against the abuse, there needs to be a cut back
on the amount of meat or poultry that is consumed. Seriously consider the option of becoming a
vegetarian; by not eating meat, you completely stop supporting animal

The Most Complex Organs Of The Human Body
The eye is one of the most complex organs of the human body. In the human eye, three layers can be
distinguished.
The outer region consists of the cornea and the sclera [4]. The cornea refracts and transmits the light
to the lens and the retina and protects the eye against infection and structural damage to the deeper
parts. The sclera is a thick, opaque white tissue that covers 95% of the surface area of the eye. The
sclera forms a connective tissue coat that protects the eye from internal and external forces and
maintains its shape. The cornea and the sclera are connected at the limbus. The visible part of the
sclera is covered by a transparent mucous membrane, the conjunctiva.
The middle layer of the eye is composed of the iris, the ciliary body ... Show more content on

The iris controls the size of the pupil, and thus the amount of light reaching the retina; the ciliary body
controls the power and shape of the lens and is the site of aqueous production; and the choroid is a

The inner layer of the eye is the retina [4], a complex, layered structure of neurons that capture and
process light. The surrounding sclera and cornea help to protect retina and keep it in the appropriate
position.
There are six major classes in neural retina: photoreceptors, bipolar cells, horizontal cells, amacrine
cells and ganglion cells, which capture and process light signals; and the Mullerian glia, which act as
the organizational backbone of the neural retina.
The three transparent structures surrounded by the ocular layers are called the aqueous, the vitreous

Epicurus Vs Lucretius
i. Death is something that is inevitably going to happen in everybody s lifetime. We see people get
older every day and as we know we don t live eternally. But should death be feared or is it harmful?
That is something that nobody can know without a doubt the answer to, but two philosophers,
Epicurus and Lucretius, have built their own arguments on the common assumption that death is the
total annihilation of the self. Therefore, if there is no life after death, we shouldn t fear death itself.
Epicurus creates his no harm argument on the fact that after we die we no longer exist. Lucretius takes
another approach where he makes a comparison using non existence before life. If we don t consider
this time period before we come to life to be bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are downfalls to Epicurus and Lucretius arguments that I think can make them debatable. It
cannot be proven that after death our souls are eradicated. For example, many religions believe in life
after death in some form whether it is in reincarnation or heaven. I understand that millions of people
around the world believe in this for a reason and would not blindly trust in an afterlife if they didn t
have a good enough reason to. In addition, there is no way to reach out to those who have already
passed away to know for sure. Therefore, it seems impossible to know with certainty that death is the
total annihilation of the self. This makes me doubt both philosopher s arguments because the claim
that our existence is cutoff after death is what both Epicurus and Lucretius build their arguments off
of. Another reason why I believe death is harmful is because it stops you from experiencing the things
that make you happy in life. Epicurus states that death cannot possibly cause us harm because we stop
existing in that moment. It is my belief though that by our existence coming to a halt that that itself
does cause us harm. You are no longer able to be with the ones you love or do the things that you love.
If we would have lived longer we would be able to experience more of the good things. We might not
feel physical pain or harm after death but that doesn t mean that we aren t missing out on the things
that are enjoyable in the

Relationship Between Fertility Rates and Education...
Introduction
It has come to our attention that in developed countries the birth rate has been decreasing with the
years. This trend is however not limited to developed countries but is also present in emerging
countries, like Mexico. One of the main reasons for this decline is said to be the postponement of
marriage among young people. Obtaining a higher education could lead young women to remain
unmarried in their twenties. Increasing possibilities to achieve a higher education and therefore
working in an appealing job has become increasingly attractive to young women. This change in
values also contributed to the increase in unmarried singles in their twenties. However, it is also
possible that the influence of one s family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rates above two children indicate populations are growing in size and the median age is declining.
Higher rates may also indicate difficulties for families, in some situations, to feed and educate their
children and for women to enter the labor force. Rates below two children indicate populations are
decreasing in size and growing older. Global fertility rates are in general declining and this trend is
mostly predominant in industrialized countries, especially Western Europe, where populations are
projected to decline dramatically over the next 50 years.
Description of the Procedures Used
The purpose of this section is to describe the course of action of the study and to specify the steps
taken.
In order to answer the research question in an appropriate way, it was first needed to do intensive
research in the internet in order to obtain relevant data. The pages consulted were INEGI and Index
Mundi. On these pages it was possible to collect data regarding the birth rate, the fertility rate and the
level of education. The next step was to convert the data into tables and graphs, describe them and to
provide some background information in order to make the data clearer. Furthermore, one can already
see at first sight how the fertility rate and level of education are developing at first sight.
In order to tackle the question (Whether there is a relation between the increase in the level of
education and the decline in the

Second Wave Feminist Movement in 1970s, feminist writing in Canada starts to emerge and plays an
active role in attacking the patriarchal society. Women have started raising their voice against
domestic violence and for their rights. Canadian women also have fought for peace in the country and
environmental issues. Aparna Basu states In the second phase of the women s movement. In Canada,

Walt Disney Captain Of Industry Essay
Mickey Mouse may be an iconic figure. However, history has shown that Walt Disney may have

The Use of TDZ and BAP for Shoot Regeneration Essay

Shoot regeneration using TDZ and BAP
Recently, many research groups have been involved in establishing reliable regeneration procedures
for agronomically and industrially important plants, because it would be a primary step to facilitate
introduction of genes and improvement of the crops. In vitro regeneration system is the first step
towards transformation and once successfully attempted, can pave the way for the development of
genetically transformed plants with desired traits (Pérez Molphe Balch and Ochoa Alejo, 1998).

for direct shoot regeneration from decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants.
Experiments on the decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants demonstrated
that the greatest shoot formation was on the medium containing 0.25 mg l 1 and 0.5 mg l 1 TDZ,
respectively. Thidiazuron (TDZ), a substitute of phenyl urea (N phenyl 1,2,3 thidiazol 5 ylurea) is a
potent cytokinin used in experiments related to in vitro shoot induction (Mok et al., 1982; Thomas et
al. 1986) and its ability to induce multiple shoot formation has been demonstrated in other plant
systems (Kerns and Meyer, 1986; Fellman et al., 1987; Fiola et al., 1990). Adventitious shoots
elongating over... cm in length, which were easy to handle and suitable for transferring to rooting
medium, were also obtained most efficiently with a lower concentration of TDZ, while further
addition of TDZ concentration resulted in decreased shoot regeneration and elongation. Higher TDZ
concentrations lead to reduction of shoot regeneration and resulted in stunted shoots. Previous studies
have been reported the inhibitory effects of high concentrations of TDZ on shoot elongation (Preece
and Imel, 1991; Malik et al. 1992; Feyissa et al., 2005; Raghu et al., 2006; Kumar and Reddy, 2010;

  • 2. Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic religions. Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. • 3. Why The Collapse Of Patron And Broker The Collapse of Patron and Broker Throughout the 19th century, American government on the local, state, and federal level all utilized patronage to amass political support in exchange for jobs and distributive goods. However, as the century came to an end, there was a shift from this tradition to one that slowly transformed bureaucracy from a spoils system to one of merit. There are many competing theories on why this civil service reform emerged the way it did in the United States. Different test subjects were investigated how and why merit penetrated the bureaucracy concluded that competition among political parties when the majority began to see wavering support, but a more compelling view saw it as a means for politicians to lighten their workload. In his paper outlining the functions of political parties and bureaucracies throughout American history, Martin Shefter uses the Progressive Era to illustrate how the decline of political party power leads to bureaucratic reform. The party realignment of 1896 culminated in weak political parties that often had one party in charge at a regional level. Consequently, any minority faction was useless in challenging majority party policies. Unable to make a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When controlled for lame duck congressmen, there is not a significant difference in the way in which they voted, muddying Ting s argument that reform is the result of such representatives who have an interest in making sure their replacement cannot exercise too much power. In fact, there was a time where Asahara and Aum Shinrikyo members had taken up an attitude similar to that of a humble missionary. However, the Aum Shinrikyo faith, as well as Asahara, had been obsessed with some of the philosophies of the Bible, the Book of Revelation in particular, and had an unfortunate turnaround, which resulted in the religion s currently bad reputation. This cult is a perfect example to show what Paul meant when he said that false christs pretend to be holy servants of God. The religion also holds the claim that Asahara is the only person to have attained the highest level of consciousness and that he is in the state of Nirvana; Asahara even claimed to be Christ. Tibetan beliefs of extrasensory experiences are also included in the Aum Shinrikyo faith, with clairvoyance, levitation, and the ability to see through walls being some of these extrasensory abilities that Asahara promoted and claimed to have (news.bbc.co.uk; fas.org). According to John Pike, the Aum Shinrikyo faith strongly promoted Shiva, the god of destruction, and thus put a particular emphasis on Armageddon, or the end of the world. Asahara claimed salvation from this destruction for those who reached higher levels of consciousness by going through him, the Supreme Master ; their reincarnated states would hold a special status amongst others. Apparently, this Armageddon was going to involve a third world war in 1997 that would be initiated between Japan and the United States; one supposed goal of Aum Shinrikyo was their involved their salvation activities during this time and the revival of the Japanese nation after the collapse of their country. Members of Aum Shinrikyo were also very anti Semitic, and put part of the blame for this onto the Jews (fas.org). • 5. Corruption In The Federal Government Political corruption in the United States is present an at least one of the three branches of government in all fifty states but is most common in the Legislative branch. Ending political corruption is nearly impossible because public officials will always find a loophole in the existing laws but reducing corruption is possible. The most efficient way to dramatically reducing political corruption is by targeting the Legislative branch of the United States government. Two members of Congress are trying to exactly do that by proposing a law, At the federal level, that would impose term limits on members of Congress. Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Ron DeSantis are both pushing an amendment to be added to the United States Constitution which would impose term limits on members of the House of Representative and the Senate. Political corruption in the legislative branch of the federal government is a problem because members of Congress will favor special interest rather than their constituent. A law that was passed at the federal level to try solving this problem is the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act and a proposed law at the state level Ohio Strengthening Term Limits on State Legislators Amendment but both laws don t go far enough. By Imposing term limits on Congress it will help reduce political corruption because it will constantly bring new faces to Congress which will make it harder for special interest to have a grip on Congress. Carole asked Joanne to take over the network analysis because she thought it is Joanne s specialism and is from a moral point of view, but Joanne refused to take on the additional workload because she thought that she is carrying out what Richard asked of her. My results showed that I am very decisive and interactive, then I am moderately stable, but not very cautious, systematic, or much of a perfectionist. These results also tied in fairly closely with my Jung Typology personality test results, which I will explain throughout the latter portion of my paper. My DISC results also ranked my seven dimensions of value and motivation. Not surprisingly for me, altruistic was my highest value, sitting at 93 out of 100. This is because I have a very high sincerity and genuine interest in helping others. As well as I am a giving person who desires to provide an environment in which there is opportunity ... However, for my last letter, my results indicated that I have marginal or no preference of judging over perceiving. Judging was only favored by 3%, and therefore, that is why the ESFP personality type can also be a fit for me. By simply looking at the four words indicated by the letters of my results, I believe that each one is pretty accurate. • 9. The Liberal Arts Education Is Better Than A Education Now that I am in college, I have pondered upon whether a liberal arts education is better than a vocational education; a topic that did not cross my mind in high school. A liberal arts curriculum includes the studies intended to primarily provide general knowledge such as language, philosophy, literature, and abstract science and to develop general intellectual capacities, such as reason and judgment, as opposed to professional or vocational skills (merriam webster.com). As students wanting to achieve a higher education, we have to think about what we want for ourselves. Either you want to grow as an individual and obtain a major in whichever field you chose, or just learn what best interests you. People have many misconceptions toward what the liberal arts are and how they can benefit you. We often hear things like, A liberal arts degree will not get you a real job. or A liberal arts degree is a luxury not a necessity. Although this is what the majority of the people who are not aware about the actual facts say, this is not true. An examination of, The New Liberal Arts by author Sanford J. Ungar, and Are Too Many People Going to College? by author Charles Murray, will reveal to us why one gains more knowledge at a liberal arts school. Murray argues that a liberal arts education is only for the elite, but I believe that they shouldn t be the only ones to attend because my vision of a liberal arts college is one where all students come in with the appropriate amount of ... I loved this restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. • 15. The Sons Of Liberty And Their Influence On Colonial Rule Throughout the latter half of the 16th Century, the Sons of Liberty were highly significant in propagating discontent towards colonial rule in America, ultimately leading to its independence. The Surge in the number of patriotic revolutionary groups, seen in the late 1700 s, can be attributed to the Sons of Liberty and their influence on the public s attitude towards colonial rule. Numerous forms of propaganda were used by the Sons, reflecting poorly upon colonial rule, therefore furthering discontent amongst the population. Additionally, the lack of British military enforcement in its colonial states allowed the Sons to publicly express their revolutionary ideas, a concept rapidly increasing in popularity. Concurrently, the spread of revolutionary thinking was also expressed during the Boston Tea Party, in which the Sons received increased support in the Anti British demonstration. Although the Sons inflicted majority of revolutionary feelings amongst the American population, King George III also encouraged his own opposition with the imposition of several taxes and laws with the purpose to restrict colonial rights. Concomitantly, the opposition to tyrannical Britain was increased through the failed attempt to remove the Sons from Lexington and Concord, causing the immediate backlash of public support for colonial rule. Where the germ of the idea came from is pretty much irrelevant. What matters to every theatre maker, I know, is speaking clearly to the audience right now. This quote by English playwright and screenwriter, Lee Hall, from an essay he published in the Times of London, is central to the connection between theatre and motion picture technology. Since the rise of film in the early twentieth century, these elements have been influencing each other, and working together, to elevate the storytelling and experience of each medium and, in turn, better connecting them to the modern audience. The collaboration of these two mediums has resulted in a new form of theatre, known as digital theatre, that shows theatrical entertainment does not have to be either purist (involving only live actors on stage), or be consumed by the dominant televisual mass media, but can gain from the strengths of both types of communication. (Masura). Throughout this paper, the intersection of theatre and motion picture technology will be explored through their effect on each other, in storytelling and experience, and the product of their collaboration digital theatre. Desroches 5/7/15 Introduction American football has been around for over one hundred years, and along with the sport has been the need to provide proper safety for the players. An assortment of padding has been instituted in the game that protects against most blunt trauma including blows to the shoulders, mid section, and legs. In an attempt to prevent fracture of the skull, helmets were designed. However, studies have shown that helmets do little to nothing to prevent concussive damage to the brain. A polycarbonate shell is used as the outer housing for regulation football helmets, but along with this material, the materials used on the inside of the helmet are just as, if not more, important. The purpose of this report is to analyze the materials used in current football helmet design and the improvements being made in the field of materials science in order to combat the severe number of concussions suffered by NFL players. Concussions There is a large amount of ambiguity when diagnosing concussions. Since there is no definitive test that can be run on the brain while a person is alive to determine if they have suffered a concussion, recording an accurate number of concussions is difficult in the NFL or any sport for that matter. But should death be feared or is it harmful? That is something that nobody can know without a doubt the answer to, but two philosophers, Epicurus and Lucretius, have built their own arguments on the common assumption that death is the total annihilation of the self. Therefore, if there is no life after death, we shouldn t fear death itself. Epicurus creates his no harm argument on the fact that after we die we no longer exist. Lucretius takes another approach where he makes a comparison using non existence before life. If we don t consider this time period before we come to life to be bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are downfalls to Epicurus and Lucretius arguments that I think can make them debatable. It cannot be proven that after death our souls are eradicated. For example, many religions believe in life after death in some form whether it is in reincarnation or heaven. I understand that millions of people around the world believe in this for a reason and would not blindly trust in an afterlife if they didn t have a good enough reason to. In addition, there is no way to reach out to those who have already passed away to know for sure. Therefore, it seems impossible to know with certainty that death is the total annihilation of the self. This makes me doubt both philosopher s arguments because the claim that our existence is cutoff after death is what both Epicurus and Lucretius build their arguments off of. Another reason why I believe death is harmful is because it stops you from experiencing the things that make you happy in life. Epicurus states that death cannot possibly cause us harm because we stop existing in that moment. It is my belief though that by our existence coming to a halt that that itself does cause us harm. You are no longer able to be with the ones you love or do the things that you love. If we would have lived longer we would be able to experience more of the good things. We might not feel physical pain or harm after death but that doesn t mean that we aren t missing out on the things that are enjoyable in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Relationship Between Fertility Rates and Education... Introduction It has come to our attention that in developed countries the birth rate has been decreasing with the years. This trend is however not limited to developed countries but is also present in emerging countries, like Mexico. One of the main reasons for this decline is said to be the postponement of marriage among young people. Obtaining a higher education could lead young women to remain unmarried in their twenties. Increasing possibilities to achieve a higher education and therefore working in an appealing job has become increasingly attractive to young women. This change in values also contributed to the increase in unmarried singles in their twenties. However, it is also possible that the influence of one s family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rates above two children indicate populations are growing in size and the median age is declining. Higher rates may also indicate difficulties for families, in some situations, to feed and educate their children and for women to enter the labor force. Rates below two children indicate populations are decreasing in size and growing older. Global fertility rates are in general declining and this trend is mostly predominant in industrialized countries, especially Western Europe, where populations are projected to decline dramatically over the next 50 years. Description of the Procedures Used The purpose of this section is to describe the course of action of the study and to specify the steps taken. In order to answer the research question in an appropriate way, it was first needed to do intensive research in the internet in order to obtain relevant data. The pages consulted were INEGI and Index Mundi. On these pages it was possible to collect data regarding the birth rate, the fertility rate and the level of education. The next step was to convert the data into tables and graphs, describe them and to provide some background information in order to make the data clearer. Furthermore, one can already see at first sight how the fertility rate and level of education are developing at first sight. In order to tackle the question (Whether there is a relation between the increase in the level of education and the decline in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hypothesis: As the light intensity goes up the abundance of daisy s on The Downs School field will also increase. Equipment: 10 meter tape measure light intensity meter Identification key Thermometer soil depth spike PH Probe quadrat 0.5 by 0.5 Method: 1. Line up the tape measure from the chosen tree on the ground. 2. Place the quadrat on the ground next to the tape measure at 0cm 3. Count the number of squares in the quadrat where part of a daisy is present 4. Take the light intensity after each count of daisy s has being taken. 5. If I had more time then we would have repeated this result. Most of the other results are accurate and reliable because looking at the graph there are no completely out of place results, there are a few that do not fit with the line of best fit very well but ecology is very hard to get perfect as you cannot make the environment do what you want to do. Some of the light measurements may not be accurate because when we did the experiment the light was changing and was very unpredictable, sometimes the sun would go behind a cloud which meant the light measurement would be low when actually most ... • 35. Walt Disney Captain Of Industry Essay Mickey Mouse may be an iconic figure. However, history has shown that Walt Disney may have actually been a rat. Building his empire of The Wonderful World of Disney does not qualify him to be a captain of industry. By definition, a captain of industry is one with positive integrity. Whereas, a robber baron is motivated by greed. As Disney began his ascent, he was like the Pharaoh in his Prince of Egypt production. Believing the end justified the means, Disney plowed over employees, considering their livelihood as part of collateral damage. Disney was a robber baron with a pernicious temper, who harshly controlled employees, and ruled his cast members by intimidation. Without the talent and skills of his animators, Walt Disney would not have been able to gather this amount of proceeds. As would follow with all of Disney s financial success, did that make him a captain of industry? Disney may have opened a variety of job opportunities for the public, but it did not necessarily qualify him as a captain of industry. Just as a sweat factory employed its unhappy workers, many Disney employees felt similar oppression. This led to the rally call of a strike. • 37. The Use of TDZ and BAP for Shoot Regeneration Essay Discussion Shoot regeneration using TDZ and BAP Recently, many research groups have been involved in establishing reliable regeneration procedures for agronomically and industrially important plants, because it would be a primary step to facilitate introduction of genes and improvement of the crops. In vitro regeneration system is the first step towards transformation and once successfully attempted, can pave the way for the development of genetically transformed plants with desired traits (Pérez Molphe Balch and Ochoa Alejo, 1998). The result of the present study shows that TDZ is most effective for direct shoot regeneration from decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants. Experiments on the decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants demonstrated that the greatest shoot formation was on the medium containing 0.25 mg l 1 and 0.5 mg l 1 TDZ, respectively. Thidiazuron (TDZ), a substitute of phenyl urea (N phenyl 1,2,3 thidiazol 5 ylurea) is a potent cytokinin used in experiments related to in vitro shoot induction (Mok et al., 1982; Thomas et al. 1986) and its ability to induce multiple shoot formation has been demonstrated in other plant systems (Kerns and Meyer, 1986; Fellman et al., 1987; Fiola et al., 1990). Adventitious shoots elongating over... cm in length, which were easy to handle and suitable for transferring to rooting medium, were also obtained most efficiently with a lower concentration of TDZ, while further addition of TDZ concentration resulted in decreased shoot regeneration and elongation. Higher TDZ concentrations lead to reduction of shoot regeneration and resulted in stunted shoots. Previous studies have been reported the inhibitory effects of high concentrations of TDZ on shoot elongation (Preece and Imel, 1991; Malik et al. 1992; Feyissa et al., 2005; Raghu et al., 2006; Kumar and Reddy, 2010; Kumar et al., 2010a,b, 2011a,b), and our results are in agreement with the above ...
