Vulnerable John Lennon
The opening chords of the soft and folk sounding acoustic guitar introduce the listener to a completely
vulnerable John Lennon on vocals. In this song, Lennon attempts to create a folk song by imitating
one of his main influencers at the time, Bob Dylan. We hear a different side of John Lennon that
focuses on the emotional experience, rather than rock n roll. In the first stanza, we can assume that
Lennon has just got through an unexpected break up with a woman that he is clearly in love with. He
goes on to say, Here I stand head in hand / Turn my face to the wall we can see hat Lennon feels
completely hopeless and alone as he tries to understand how he ended up in this dreadful situation. As
he begins to think over the situation he realizes that it will be impossible to go one with life if the
woman he loves isn t by his side. Lennon shows his sentimental side by mentioning that he feels, Two

He is constantly assuming that each passerby is judging him because his girlfriend has left him. He
even goes on to say that he can see people laughing directly at him. We can assume the laughter is felt
because his girlfriend left him for another man. The last line in the stanza states the following, And I
hear them say. Then, the song shifts to the chorus which shows the peoples response and advice
toward Lennon and his heartbreak. The advice is sung loudly and it seems like a crowd of people are
giving John Lennon advice. The people suggests the following, Hey you ve got to hide your love away
this shows that the people don t want Lennon to show his emotions and heartbreak. They suggest that
it is something you deal with internally, rather than expressing yourself. This shows that the people
feel that he is embarrassing himself by being emotional and that he must hide his

Khmer Rouge And Pol Pot Downfall
The Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot downfall To spare you is no profit, to destroy you is no loss. These are
the words the leader of the Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot. His plan to convert Cambodia s capitalistic
economy to a communist economy failure is what inevitably led to the cause of the Cambodian
Genocide. Pol Pot is responsible for the deaths of 1.5 million Cambodians during his reign between
1975 1979.
Pol Pot, a man who valued Mao s Chinese communist way of living, saw the cities as the heart of
capitalism and therefore it had to be eliminated ( The Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot Regime ). With the
help of the Khmer Rouge guerrilla Army, the survivors of the Cambodian Genocide are left to deal
with their traumatic past and seek hope for a better future.
How It Started
When the war between Vietnam and the Unites states threatened to move into Cambodia Norodom
Sihanouk, King of Cambodia at the time, tried his best to not contribute to the war. When the
Vietnamese Communists began using the port of Sihanoukville and Cambodia s eastern border to ship
military supplies, King Sihanouk didn t want to loose his allegiance with the U.S. and began to take
steps to repair their relationship with the country. ( Norodom Sihanouk By Elizabeth Becker). King
Sihanouk, a man who wanted nothing to do with this war was now hopelessly rapped up in it. In 1969
there was a secret bombing that hit the border area of Cambodia. Convinced that the United States was
behind this, King Sihanouk allied himself

The Sticky Web
What is the greatest innovation of the twentieth century? The web? Something about this cobweb just
captures the imagination of anyone who gets a glimpse of the possibilities made available. This has
led to people spending more and more time online. It has altered the very way that civilization
conveys basic day to day information. College students today have had easy access to the internet their
entire lifetime. Nevertheless, the disadvantages of this popular time passer are steadily increasing, as
the price for this activity we call surfing the web has evolved into more than just the currency and time
we spend each passing day.
One of the more well known issues caused by the internet, is the addictive properties of simple tasks

The possibilities of enhancing concepts sourced from secondary research, further s the level of
intelligence that people have access to. This is brilliant networking. Plagiarism, however has come to
be a large problem for students and their instructors alike.
Online safety has become an issue as the internet is available to a much younger user. Mobile phones,
iPods and other devices mean kids are online most of the day There is online crime and the kids are
exposed to this, which is a problem for them as their discretion is not mature enough. Unfiltered foul
and abbreviated language is being projected into the younger generation causing them to use these
terms in school, this is tacky . Many educators are worried as the informal communications common
to online chatting is becoming an issue by itself. Teachers believe pupils don t spend nearly enough
time on their homework as they should and 73 per cent believe parents should take responsibility and
limit the amount of time their child is spending online.
Fun factors are being developed at an accelerating rate, the technology behind virtual worlds have
made a beautiful illusion for anyone to just slip their thoughts from reality, consequently, the issue of
violent stimuli has become ever so present and people are loosing control. Could this link to another

The Pros And Cons Of Film Festivals
Festivals that cater to a specific cultural or minority groups
There has been a considerable increase in festivals focus on race, gender, sexuality and disability in
recent years. However, they are not without their problems! It is vital to think about how the cultural

sponsors, funders and audiences. Festivals targeted minority often find difficult relationships with
distributors: a programmer and a sales agent or distributor may have different ideas about the audience

Léopold Senghor Research Paper
Psychobiography of Léopold Sédar Senghor:
First President of the Republic of Senegal
Route to Leadership Position
By Natasha M. Hinds
PSC 700
October 3, 2012
When the Republic of Senegal, formerly part of French West Africa (Mauritania, Senegal, Mali,
French Guinea, Côte d Ivoire, Upper Volta, Burkina Faso, Benin and Niger), gained its independence
on June 20, 1960, Léopold Senghor became the country s first president. There were several key
events that postured him to be the right person at the right time, as he took his position of the
presidency. Léopold Senghor s route to the presidency can be divided into four phases: Colonialism,
Négritude, World War II, and Political positions.
Colonialism

The goal of the Monnerville Commission was to advise on the constitutional future of French colonies
in the Fourth Republic. In July 1945, after his work on the Commission, he left Paris and returned to
Senegal. His friends, family, and Frenchmen convinced him to become a candidate for local elections
a reality attributed to his work on the Monnerville Commission. He became a member of the French
Socialist Party (SFIO) and within 16 hours, he was nominated to compete for the position of Deputy
to the French National Constituent Assembly. His nomination was met with opposition because he
lived in Paris for 17 years and Senegalese did not see him as a True African . He, however, had
support from the well respected, Lamine Guèye (Mayor of Dakar and leader of the SFIO), who, was
running for top position of two deputy positions and they were both successful in their campaigns to
serve in these positions. Guèye supported Senghor, to serve as his Second Deputy to represent the
leaders of the interior, because he thought Senghor would be able to impress the French, therefore
having a certain amount of political clout to work in Senegal s favor for future policies, etc. Senghor,
later, was at odds with Guèye because Senghor believed that cultural matters should take

Sexual Desire In A Streetcar Named Desire
Sexual Desire in A Streetcar Named Desire From the time that the streetcar first rattles through town,
it is clear that the theme of desire is a prominent feature in A Streetcar Named Desire. The themes of
lust and sexuality are present mainly in three major characters: Stanley, Stella, and Blanche. Blanche s
interactions with men and her views of herself revolve around her value as a sexual object; while
Stella allows Stanley s violence and animalistic nature because of their sex life. Early on, Blanche s
obsession with her looks is revealed when she commands Stella to look at her, but only after she s
bathed and rested, and to turn the light off so she won t be looked at in this merciless glare (1821).
Blanche is always dressed extremely

The Importance Of Critical Pedagogy In Education
A University must empower the students that attend, in order to fully prepare them for their future, and
careers. In order to feel empowered, one must feel confident, and respected. In the Greenville
University men s soccer program, much like many other college sports teams, have a dysfunctional
class ranking system that thrives on inequity, subsequently our program has been challenged to model
a brotherhood that does not see class rankings, but rather appreciates each, and every individual
regardless of their age, or class. Critical pedagogy allows students to speak with greater authority
because they are drawing on knowledge they already possess (Critical Pedagogy, Butler and
McCunn). Critical pedagogy is an idea that each student will possess a different power, and
knowledge that will empower the students, and teachers combined. Allowing the students to work off
of the knowledge they already possess, allows the students to speak through the different lenses that
each one has. Instead of having a teacher teach through only one lens, their very own, critical
pedagogy allows a fair conversation, and a just world, because it allows each person to have a voice.
The syllabus put it very simply, but elegantly that I must use the wording, In general critical pedagogy
acquaints students with societal structures that reinforce inequity and invites and empowers them to
engage with their communities and to be agents of change in their communities (Syllabus, Malone).

Although during the early modern period the term homosexuality may not have existed, the
persecution of homosexuals was a vicious practice which was sweeping across society in Early
Modern Europe. Without a name, homosexuality and homosexual identities were heavily diluted down
to simple definitions which would set the standard for how homosexual identities developed and how
homosexual individuals were treated for many years to come. This essay will discuss the
criminalization of sodomy and the demonization of homosexual individuals in Early Modern
European society. It will also argue that these brutal practices and

Symbolism in “Cats” and “Shiloh”
Jill McCorkle, along with Bobbie Ann Mason often use the symbolism of a short story to further the
meaning of the piece. In the short story Shiloh , Mason uses Leroy and Norma Jean to exhibit a further
meaning of the story by effectively using symbolism. In addition to Shiloh , McCorkle also uses
symbolism in her story Cats to symbolise how cats can be related to humans in multiple ways.
McCorkle describes the relationship between two cats, Pumpkin Pie and Possum, and their two human
counterparts, Anne and Abbott, and how they share similar characteristics. In works such as Shiloh
and Cats , symbolism furthers the meaning of the story and leave the interpretation of the work up to
the reader.
In Bobbie Ann Mason s short story Shiloh , Mason uses the marriage of Leroy and Norma Jean to
symbolise how Leroy s life decisions can be detrimental to his marriage. Ever since Leroy was in an
accident while driving a truck, he was able to stay at home with Norma Jean often. This time together
make them realize how little they still loved each other. Mason uses the symbolism of him losing his
job to represent how their love for each other has deterred over the course of their marriage. Bobbie
Ann Mason use symbolism effectively when he writes Norma Jean has reached the bluff, and she is
looking out over the Tennessee River. Now she turns toward Leroy and waves her arms. Is she

Mobile Phones Vs Cell Phones
Technology has made huge impact in how people are communicating, getting in touch with someone
has never been easier before! All you do is write a quick text and press send, but the problem is when
teens disconnect from their social media it is harder for them to be social face to face. Adults on the
other hand use their cell phones a bit differently than teens. Studies have been made to compare how
different age group use their precious cell phones that may or may not have changed their lives. Cell
phones are very helpful because they make it much easier to get in touch with people and talk to them
and without having to be with them at the time. But studies have shown that different age groups use
their phones a bit differently. For example, a study done by the writer of Cell Phones are Changing
Social Interaction, Deborah Forgays, and Jessie Schreiber compares how different age groups use their
cellphones. In this study they found that the younger the person is the more text messages they send
and receive in a day. In the over 50 group, more than 80 percent send and receive fewer than 10 texts
each day Teens text and use social media much more and rely on it to contact friends. The study also
showed that in 90% of all age groups made less than ten calls a day, so the only difference in age
group is how muchthey receive and send text messages. But in the end, we all use our phones for the
same reasons. I think we can all agree that cell phones have made our lives easier, but for some teens
face to face interaction has become harder for them. Texting is such an easy way to talk to someone
that it makes having a regular conversation seem harder. This can lead to bad communication skills
that you need to do important things such as applying for interviews we won t know how to have
proper communication , which can result in not getting the job. teens are also known to get distracted
by their phones while studying and as a student myself I know how quickly you get get distracted on
your phone while doing work. These distractions might lead to bad grades and if students don t get
good grades they might not get to go to a good college. So all together, we can tell that cell phones are

Society Moral in Tithe by Holly Black Essay
In the world where both fairies and humans live together as one, but still not knowing one another
exist, both society follow the same moral. Tithe a modern faire tale by Holly Black suggest that no
matter who you are you should have loyalty in friendship though the faithfulness between the
characters , trust and scarifies that have been made for each other.
Loyalty in friendship is shown through the faithfulness of the characters. Robien, a faire had stayed
faithful to Kaye after the day he met her. When the Unseelie court faire had come back and wanted
Robien back he said, I am home, lady. Now tell your men to put down his weapon and I will allow

Also, fairies do not trust anyone with their names but while Kaye is helping Roiben at a stage of death,
he told Kaye his name. Kaye thought to herself, Faires didn t give their names easily even apart of
their names, although she had no idea why. (Black 27) Robien knew she could control him if she
found out his full name but still decided to trust her, because of her noble deed. In friendship trust is
the most important part of loyalty.
Moreover, the scarifies one makes for their friends also show the loyalty in the friendship. As Kaye
saved Roiben from dying, sacrificing her own life shows the kind of friendship they have. While
laying on the ground under a tree Roiben says, I am in your debt. I mislike not knowing how I must
repay it. (Black 42) He is thankful to Kaye from saving her and now believes he has to give her life to
her. This sacrifice shows how loyal friends would do anything for one another. Along with that Roiben
ends up saving Kaye from begin sacrificed for the Tithe. When he saves Kaye, she says, Roiben had
known all along what he was offering her his life, (227) During the sacrifice when the Unseelie court
Queen began the ceremony he whispered to Kaye What is your but they use it more than you, telling
Kaye she had to command him with his full name. Here he scarified himself to her even if it meant to

The Importance Of Looking Before You Leap Essay
The Importance of Looking Before You Leap Media portrays romantic relationships as a whirlwind of
emotions that ends in a happily ever after in the course of a few days; children s movies are a larger
perpetrator of this idea. But how accurate is this to real life relationships? Research, including John
Van Epp s book How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk, tells us that a healthy relationship is built
on more than the initial emotions we feel. In chapter one of How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk,
Epp discusses the importance of the love is blind phenomenon where we either one, don t know how
to identify predictors of relationship dissatisfaction or two, become so attached to someone that we
minimize predictors in the belief that things will get better. The love is blind phenomenon causes
discourse between the heart and mind, two things that need to be harmonious in order for a healthy
relationship. Epp also discusses the predictors of (dis)satisfaction in order to find a partner that
complements us and identify things that could result in potential problems in the relationship. For the
first chapter, I found the predictors to be the most interesting point in this chapter. Epp identified five
categories that seemed to play a large role in marital satisfaction and they are compatibility potential,
relationship skills, patterns from other relationships, family patterns and background, and character
and conscience traits. Compatibility potential is the similarities

People Have Many Ideas About Developing Video Games
Argument People have many ideas about developing video games. Though, I agree with some of those
things up to a point; I disagree when they say that making games will be boring, hard, and/or
repetitive. I am here to say, that is not entirely true. Silas Marner Silas marner appears in the doorway
carrying Godfrey s own child. GOdfrey feels a sudden terror that the woman might not actually be
dead. What can we deduce about Godfrey from his actions/thoughts here? His fundamental weakness
as a person who would rather evade responsibility. He finds he cannot part with it. Thoughts jumping
between hope and fear about the two outcomes of the situation. Compare Godfrey with Silas here:

In the research phase, gathering evidence against your argument will help you refute
counterarguments. What creates your specific style (what separates one of you from another when it
comes to presenting ideas)? A writer s style is what sets his or her writing apart and makes it unique.
Style is the way writing is dressed up (or down) to fit the specific context, purpose, or audience. Word
choice, sentence fluency, and the writer s voice all contribute to the style of a piece of writing. How a
writer chooses words and structures sentences to achieve a certain effect is also an element of style.
Style is not a matter of right and wrong but of what is appropriate for a particular setting and audience.
Why does knowing the purpose of a presentation help in the process of creating it? Authors and
audiences both have a wide range of purposes for communicating. The importance of purpose in
rhetorical situations cannot be overstated. It is the varied purposes of a rhetorical situation that
determine how an author communicates a text and how audiences receive a text. Rhetorical situations
rarely have only one purpose. Purposes for Discussions: To inform To persuade To describe To
convince To define To influence To review To argue To notify To recommend To instruct To change

Native American Binary System
Gender is a complex socially constructed idea. Often people interchangeably use gender to refer to
someone s sex. This is not the case. Sex is the biological characteristics that makes someone a male,
female or intersex. Gender however is made up of expression, identity, and sexual orientation. Gender
identity is how one views themselves such as a woman, man or transgender. Gender identity does not
correspond to the sex of that person. Gender expression is how one expresses their gender identity.
This could be through a masculine , feminine or androgynous expression. In Western societies,
although there has been a push for change in our gender system, the gender system as been a binary

Throughout many Native American societies there have been a variety of sex/gender systems. As
Europeans came over to the Americas, Native people lost their gender systems and were forced to

The Theory Of Basic Anxiety
The theorist Karen Horney was the first person to develop the idea of basic anxiety. Having her own
personal struggles with being rejected of affection aided her thought of social development, yet paving
the way for new developmental theories of personality. The impact Horney had on the discipline of
psychology was enormous. Horney not only inspired women psychologists, but also created a new
place in the world where women had the right to their own ideas. Karen Horney was born and raised
in Germany. When Horney was a child she yearned for her parents love and affection. She felt that her

Pros And Cons Of Community Corrections
Community Corrections
With any type of crime that is committed by an individual, there comes a set of guidelines to follow
when regarding which punishment that that particular individual will receive based on the
categorization of their crime. Crimes can be inherently categorized into two distinctly different
categories, the first of which being misdemeanors and the second being felonies. Sets of guidelines
will vary when considering the severity of the crime based on which category the crime will fall
under, as well as the prior criminal history of the individual who committed the particular crime that
they are being punished for.
From a statistical standpoint, there are nearly seven million individuals who are currently on
correctional supervision within the United States of America (DeMichele, 2014). Of those seven
million individuals, a meager two million or 30 percent are incarcerated within a jail or prison
environment (DeMichele, 2014). The remaining five million or 70 percent of those seven million are
currently being supervised through community corrections (DeMichele, 2014). The dramatic growth
in community based corrections over the last three decades is nothing short of astounding (Wodahl,
Ogle, Heck, 2011). In a span of less than 30 years, the number of offenders under supervision in the
community has more than tripled, with an estimated 5.1 million people under probation and parole
supervision in 2008 (Wodahl, Ogle, Heck, 2011).

Magical Realism As A Literary Genre
Magical Realism is a literary genre that integrates fantastic or mythological elements into otherwise
realistic fiction. It is described by the basic, direct presentation of strange, magical events. Magical
realism is basically characterized by the utilization of fantasy that vast majority believe in. Examples
of such things include ghosts, psychics, and the theme of fate and destiny. It permits the novelist to
venture into the fantasy realm without totally losing the feeling of reality. Magical Realism was found
in Latin America during the 1960 s forward to the present. It is portrayed with the utilization of
paranormal activity that most of the populace has faith in or is in any event inquisitive about. The
Hispanic society is usually involved with exploring the mysteries of birth, death, and the spiritual
world. For instance, in Mexico they perceive the Day of the Dead in which they rejoice as opposed to
grieving the passing family members (). They reminiscence and praise the life of the individual who
have passed on and trust that the departed has moved on to heaven and watches over the living. They
even keep the head of their descendant as a token. As a movement, magical realism is utilized to
discover the theories of these beliefs. In literature, magical realism is symbolized by pictures of spirits
and other strange happenings. However these were not essentially ominous signs. More often than not
the spirits embodied a joyful or nice encounter, such as seeing

How Did Robert Oppenheimer Change The World
J. Robert Oppenheimer, a jewish scientist that created the nuclear bomb, was seen as both a positive
and negative influence on the world. Oppenheimer helped change the world during the Manhatten
Project and after. Being the Father of the Atomic Bomb Oppenheimer gained many enemies. People

may have had both positive and negative influences on the world.
The Manhattan Project was a project set up by the government to create a new weapon during. At the
time it was very secret as Franklin Roosevelt had previously said in a letter., I have recently reviewed

J. Robert Oppenheimer s bomb was something that nobody had ever built before. It was an atomic
bomb. Unlike the hydrogen bomb they used a uranium atom to make an explosion. It was more
powerful than the hydrogen bomb and was able to be mass produced. They had accomplished their
goal to create a weapon.
At the end of the Manhattan Project the U.S. dropped a bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. After
Oppenheimer saw what damage the bomb could do he argued that they should not produce it. The

Food Loss And Its Effects On Food Production
Introduction
In an age of plenty, there continues to be considerable and intolerable inefficiencies that generate
extreme consequences in this world. Food loss is a pure example of this. Food loss represents the
edible amount of food that is available for human consumption but is not consumed for any reason,
which is discarded towards the front of the food supply chain, including harvest, post harvest, and
processing (Lipinski 2013). The production of the food in the United States is inefficient because of its
inability to create and process food without generating excessive amounts of waste. In the United
States alone, about 40 percent of its food is wasted daily much of it due to ineffectual food production
processes. In and of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of these foods, fresh produce naturally has the greatest production losses due to its perishable nature
(Gunders 7). Farmers grow their crops in accordance with demand, although it is exceedingly difficult
to gauge that specific match. It is important, however, to separate the category of farming into two
distinct measures, as they differ in how food loss is analyzed: unharvested food and lost food between
production and consumption. Farmers, whether it is through a small family owned farm or a highly
industrialized factory farm, are required to provide very dependable volumes that not only meet the
quantity expectations of buyers, but the quality specifications that become extremely inspected. To
provide insurance for themselves at the risk of losing crops due to unforeseen circumstances, like bad
weather, pests, blemishes, or other imperfections, farmers will naturally grow more than they are
expected to sell, as they have little to no choice in worrying about customers (NRDC 2012). This
predication is based on the prerogatives that each of these farmers choose to go through they would
much rather see their produce go to waste than the potential of losing profit, which leads to great food
loss. This is a classic example of production exceeding demand. The economic realities for farmers
are too significant to ignore.
Market prices also hold significant reign on whether or not farmers

Organizational leadership means the process of improving actions of line managers and decision
makers through better knowledge and understanding. To operate effectively, organizations need to fit
or align themselves with their environment, strategies, capabilities and leadership skills. To compete
successfully in highly competitive and constantly changing business environment, however,
organizations also need to achieve fitness and the ability to learn and change to fit new circumstances.
In other words, firms can lose their competitive advantage through the lapse of time, therefore
leadership skills are the only sustainable competitive advantage firms can have.
After a colleagues discussion, and a series research, we have decided that Hewlett Packard (HP) will
be the subject of our case study for the Organizational Leadership course project. Reason being, the
HP culture speaks, acts, and operates within their values, which will be further elaborated in their
motto that is widely shared at HP, The HP Way . The core organizational values have been embedded
and practiced by their employees over the years proves that HP is one of the best learning
organizations around today.
Hewlett Packard (HP) is one of those companies that have risen to the top. It is a well known company

An Objectivists View on a Charles Dickens´Christmas Carol...
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is considered by many to be a classic for all the ages, if an
objectivist point of view is used to analyse the social and political undertones of the story they will
agree with most of it, if not all of it. One of the major parts that an objectivist would agree with in A
Christmas Carol is how scrooge thinks of and how he treats the poor and infirm. Scrooge further
develops his objectivist ideology by being completely self interested in both his personal and
professional life. After Scrooge is visited by the three apparitions he is radically changed from a self
interested, objectivist, to a positive and uplifting altruist. In Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol, an

the clerk s fire is very small the clerk s fire was so very much smaller that it looked like one coal. But
he couldn t replenish it, for Scrooge kept the coal box in his own room; and so surely as the clerk
came in with the shovel, the master predicted that it would be necessary for them to part. Wherefore
the clerk put on his white comforter, and tried to warm himself at the candle; in which effort, not being
a man of a strong imagination, he failed (7). Scrooge sees even the tiniest of waste or usage of
materials a meaning for dismissal, even if the usage of materials is being used to better or help out
another human. This shows Scrooges objective character because, he does not believe any materials
should be used on the poor and everything thing should only be used for his own self interest.
Expanding on Scrooges ideology of objectivism is when No beggars implored him to bestow a trifle,
no children asked him what it was o clock, no man or woman ever once in all his life inquired the way

The Effects Of Stigma On Functioning On Bipolar Disorder...
The Impact of Stigma on Functioning in Bipolar Disorder Patients Bipolar disorder, also known as
manic depression, is a mood disorder that requires careful medication management during a patient s
lifetime (Halter, 2014, p. 227). Bipolar disorder is described as recurrent episodes of mood changes
ranging from mania to irritability to depression (Halter, 2014, p. 228). Periods of normal functioning
are also recurrent with mood shifts. Often times bipolar disorder goes undiagnosed for many years
which is linked to undesirable outcomes such as suicide (Halter, 2014, p. 227). On the other hand,
many patients with a definite diagnosis report denying their illness because of the stigma that is
associated with mood disorders (Thome, Dargel, Migliavacca, Potter, Jappur, Kapczinski, Cereser,
2011) . Perceived stigma is an attribute that devalues or discriminates against a human being because
of their mental illness (Pedneault, 2014). Stigmatizing attitudes can negatively impact on the patients
psychosocial functioning, behavior tendencies and cognitive function.

Klein is very confident and fearless even when the work its not complex and leans toward minimalist.
After several months of exhibitions he makes a shift in his style of art that has become known as his
Blue Period (January 1957). Blue Monochrome was his first real success. It s notoriety came with a

interesting is that he actually created with the help of a chemist. Monochrome Blue has no trace of line

e. The tobacco growers (suppliers) do not have differentiation in their product. This weakens their
power because the tobacco industry does not have to pay more for the tobacco because it is basically
all the same.
f. It is not costly to switch suppliers. Some companies choose to switch to a less expensive supplier in
order to lower the cost of their products. This weakens the power of the suppliers.
g. The suppliers can not easily vertically integrate forward and become their own customer because of
the many costs in manufacturing tobacco.
h. Overall, I believe the suppliers are highly powerful in the tobacco industry.
Existing Industry Competitors
a. Overall, the growth rate of the industry is moderate. Tobacco consumption is rising rapidly in
developing countries. However, in the U.S. cigarette consumption has been slipping by about two
percent per year. This means that there is a moderate level of competition for the existing tobacco
industry competitors.
b. There is a mixture of fixed costs and variable costs associated with this industry. This keeps
competition at a moderate level because the companies want to increase sales possibly by lowering
costs and still earn a profit.

topic was intense and that the two should smoke some weed to take the edge off, at this point, the
music begins with the lyrics This generation rules the nation with version, music happens to be the
food of love. The song selection was both aesthetically and narratively pleasing. It foreshadows that
the young Dev and Denise s generation will soon rule the nation with version once they become of
age. The generational reference is important because the prior generation is less understanding, such
as Denise s elders. Also, they will rule with version because there will be a change from the previous
generation. The lyrics music happen to be the food of love are situational irony within the scene
considering that the song references music being the food of love after talking about a taboo topic that
can fill many with hate. Also, the reference to food while the episode takes place on Thanksgiving also
makes the narrative play upon the lyrics. Aesthetically, the song is about recreational use of marijuana

Knowledge And Virtue In Meno
Socrates is known as one of the most prestigious philosophers to ever be alive. In his writing Meno, he
tries to figure out or show what knowledge and virtue truly are. Throughout Meno, Socrates uses the
argument that knowledge and virtue either are used for good or for evil. The majority of men are good
and honorable which always strives for good, but there are some men that want evil and strive for
folly. In his argument, Socrates explains that knowledge is something more than just true opinion. His
argument explains knowledge as being something that was given to us when we were born. Socrates

how can one have an opinion? Socrates thought of knowledge as something that can be true or false.
This is another area that I disagree with him on. Knowledge can give you information on all things.
You may receive knowledge about beneficial things or you may receive it on something that could be
harmful. Either way, it does not make the knowledge false. All knowledge is true; it just may be given

The Correlation Between Media And Politics
If people from the 1800 s were asked what the correlation between media and politics was many
would think that there was no such thing. Back in the day people did not have all these advancements
we have today. If candidates wanted to get elected they had to be in good terms with the public. If they
wanted the votes they had to convince they were fit for the job. Media is defined as the main mean of
communication. Everywhere a person goes they are bombarded with media. People watch movies,

probably whip out their phones and snap a quick picture. What happens when people do such thing is
that they are creating bias. It is very difficult to be unbiased and be neutral. For example people on
Facebook who do not like a candidate will post a status and go off on how they hate him or her and
provide their own opinion. There are times were the person only goes off of what they heard. People
are quick to judge a person why what they hear or by reading non scholarly articles. A person has look
for flaws in what they are consuming for example put yourself in the other person position. Seeing if
the person is actually trustworthy and they are not spreading lies. The first thing many adults a tell
teenagers is that not everything that they see in the internet is true. In politics today media is being
used a lot more in presidential elections. The media has been helpful regarding getting information

Truly black schools and colleges, or HBCUs, are schools that were established on the conviction that
everybody merits access to a school instruction. All the more particularly, the Higher Education Act of
1965 characterizes a HBCU as any historically black school or college that was built up preceding
1964, whose primary mission was, and is, the instruction of African Americans. The first HBCU,
Cheney University in Pennsylvania was established in 1837. Today, there are 105 Historically Black
Colleges and Universities (CollegeXpress). HBCUs graduate much more than their offer of African
American experts. While the 105 HBCUs speak to only 3% of the country s foundations of higher
learning, they graduate almost one quarter of African Americans ... Show more content on

Amid the years of strict and lawful racial isolation in the United States, HBCUs served as islands of
trust where blacks could figure out how to peruse and compose without the trepidation of being struck
back against. The main role of HBCUs was to teach dark Americans, which they did only from 1865
to the 1950s. The mind lion s share of HBCUs opened after 1865 in light of the need establishments to
instruct recently liberated slaves and to abstain from conceding those recently liberated slaves into the
current white organizations. It has been expressed that HBCUs have an one of a kind part in the
historical backdrop of American postsecondary instruction. In spite of the gigantic impediments that

advanced education establishments. While there was a period where HBCUs had tumbled from the
examination writing, ebb and flow research researchers have added to a recharged enthusiasm for
these organizations. This reestablished intrigue incompletely comes from the way that these
organizations still assume an indispensable part in American advanced education. While dark
understudies in the mid twenty first century can go to an organization, numerous are choosing to go to
a HBCU. While these schools and colleges make enormous progress, it is critical to further examine
the one of a kind personality and the differing qualities they convey to advanced education. That is
why any HBCU still and will always be relevant. If not, what s your reason

The Four Flexibility Improvement Options
Paper Case Qs 1) The four flexibility improvement options presented to Kiefner vary considerably in
their cost and their potential effects on strategy and profitability for the company. The first option is
one of the more expensive, but would also lead to some of the most substantive changes in the actual
operations of Machine #4. At the same time, despite the fact that the specialization abilities of the
machine will be significantly enhanced, marketing estimates that only a seven percent premium could
be charged, and only on about thirty percent of the machine s output the expected level of use for
specialized runs under this plan. Switching to a one week changeover cycle, which s the second option
for the machine, is much cheaper and would have a higher yield than the first option, with a five
percent premium on all outputs of the machine if it were operated on this just in time basis. Even if the
changeover time could not be reduced, this would be preferable than an expensive change to the
machine that only affected thirty percent of output. It might be undesirable form a labor standpoint,
however, and this is a major strategic consideration for the company given the current atmosphere.
Cost and profitability enhancements should be weighed against the potentially costly labor issues that
might ensue, while at the same time it must be remembered that a return to competitiveness is
necessary in order to retain jobs. The third option is again expensive the most

  • 2. Vulnerable John Lennon The opening chords of the soft and folk sounding acoustic guitar introduce the listener to a completely vulnerable John Lennon on vocals. In this song, Lennon attempts to create a folk song by imitating one of his main influencers at the time, Bob Dylan. We hear a different side of John Lennon that focuses on the emotional experience, rather than rock n roll. In the first stanza, we can assume that Lennon has just got through an unexpected break up with a woman that he is clearly in love with. He goes on to say, Here I stand head in hand / Turn my face to the wall we can see hat Lennon feels completely hopeless and alone as he tries to understand how he ended up in this dreadful situation. As he begins to think over the situation he realizes that it will be impossible to go one with life if the woman he loves isn t by his side. His plan to convert Cambodia s capitalistic economy to a communist economy failure is what inevitably led to the cause of the Cambodian Genocide. Pol Pot is responsible for the deaths of 1.5 million Cambodians during his reign between 1975 1979. Pol Pot, a man who valued Mao s Chinese communist way of living, saw the cities as the heart of capitalism and therefore it had to be eliminated ( The Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot Regime ). With the help of the Khmer Rouge guerrilla Army, the survivors of the Cambodian Genocide are left to deal with their traumatic past and seek hope for a better future. How It Started When the war between Vietnam and the Unites states threatened to move into Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk, King of Cambodia at the time, tried his best to not contribute to the war. When the Vietnamese Communists began using the port of Sihanoukville and Cambodia s eastern border to ship military supplies, King Sihanouk didn t want to loose his allegiance with the U.S. and began to take steps to repair their relationship with the country. ( Norodom Sihanouk By Elizabeth Becker). King Sihanouk, a man who wanted nothing to do with this war was now hopelessly rapped up in it. Plagiarism, however has come to be a large problem for students and their instructors alike. Online safety has become an issue as the internet is available to a much younger user. Mobile phones, iPods and other devices mean kids are online most of the day There is online crime and the kids are exposed to this, which is a problem for them as their discretion is not mature enough. In order to feel empowered, one must feel confident, and respected. In the Greenville University men s soccer program, much like many other college sports teams, have a dysfunctional class ranking system that thrives on inequity, subsequently our program has been challenged to model a brotherhood that does not see class rankings, but rather appreciates each, and every individual regardless of their age, or class. Critical pedagogy allows students to speak with greater authority because they are drawing on knowledge they already possess (Critical Pedagogy, Butler and McCunn). Critical pedagogy is an idea that each student will possess a different power, and knowledge that will empower the students, and teachers combined. Allowing the students to work off of the knowledge they already possess, allows the students to speak through the different lenses that each one has. Instead of having a teacher teach through only one lens, their very own, critical pedagogy allows a fair conversation, and a just world, because it allows each person to have a voice. The syllabus put it very simply, but elegantly that I must use the wording, In general critical pedagogy acquaints students with societal structures that reinforce inequity and invites and empowers them to engage with their communities and to be agents of change in their communities (Syllabus, Malone). • 13. Mobile Phones Vs Cell Phones Technology has made huge impact in how people are communicating, getting in touch with someone has never been easier before! All you do is write a quick text and press send, but the problem is when teens disconnect from their social media it is harder for them to be social face to face. Adults on the other hand use their cell phones a bit differently than teens. Studies have been made to compare how different age group use their precious cell phones that may or may not have changed their lives. Cell phones are very helpful because they make it much easier to get in touch with people and talk to them and without having to be with them at the time. But studies have shown that different age groups use their phones a bit differently. For example, a study done by the writer of Cell Phones are Changing Social Interaction, Deborah Forgays, and Jessie Schreiber compares how different age groups use their cellphones. In this study they found that the younger the person is the more text messages they send and receive in a day. In the over 50 group, more than 80 percent send and receive fewer than 10 texts each day Teens text and use social media much more and rely on it to contact friends. The study also showed that in 90% of all age groups made less than ten calls a day, so the only difference in age group is how muchthey receive and send text messages. But in the end, we all use our phones for the same reasons. I think we can all agree that cell phones have made our lives easier, but for some teens face to face interaction has become harder for them. Texting is such an easy way to talk to someone that it makes having a regular conversation seem harder. This can lead to bad communication skills that you need to do important things such as applying for interviews we won t know how to have proper communication , which can result in not getting the job. teens are also known to get distracted by their phones while studying and as a student myself I know how quickly you get get distracted on your phone while doing work. • 15. The Importance Of Looking Before You Leap Essay The Importance of Looking Before You Leap Media portrays romantic relationships as a whirlwind of emotions that ends in a happily ever after in the course of a few days; children s movies are a larger perpetrator of this idea. But how accurate is this to real life relationships? Research, including John Van Epp s book How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk, tells us that a healthy relationship is built on more than the initial emotions we feel. In chapter one of How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk, Epp discusses the importance of the love is blind phenomenon where we either one, don t know how to identify predictors of relationship dissatisfaction or two, become so attached to someone that we minimize predictors in the belief that things will get better. The love is blind phenomenon causes discourse between the heart and mind, two things that need to be harmonious in order for a healthy relationship. Epp also discusses the predictors of (dis)satisfaction in order to find a partner that complements us and identify things that could result in potential problems in the relationship. For the first chapter, I found the predictors to be the most interesting point in this chapter. Epp identified five categories that seemed to play a large role in marital satisfaction and they are compatibility potential, relationship skills, patterns from other relationships, family patterns and background, and character and conscience traits. Compatibility potential is the similarities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What creates your specific style (what separates one of you from another when it comes to presenting ideas)? A writer s style is what sets his or her writing apart and makes it unique. Style is the way writing is dressed up (or down) to fit the specific context, purpose, or audience. Word choice, sentence fluency, and the writer s voice all contribute to the style of a piece of writing. Crimes can be inherently categorized into two distinctly different categories, the first of which being misdemeanors and the second being felonies. Sets of guidelines will vary when considering the severity of the crime based on which category the crime will fall under, as well as the prior criminal history of the individual who committed the particular crime that they are being punished for. Farmers grow their crops in accordance with demand, although it is exceedingly difficult to gauge that specific match. It is important, however, to separate the category of farming into two distinct measures, as they differ in how food loss is analyzed: unharvested food and lost food between production and consumption. Farmers, whether it is through a small family owned farm or a highly industrialized factory farm, are required to provide very dependable volumes that not only meet the quantity expectations of buyers, but the quality specifications that become extremely inspected. To provide insurance for themselves at the risk of losing crops due to unforeseen circumstances, like bad weather, pests, blemishes, or other imperfections, farmers will naturally grow more than they are expected to sell, as they have little to no choice in worrying about customers (NRDC 2012). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organizational leadership means the process of improving actions of line managers and decision makers through better knowledge and understanding. To operate effectively, organizations need to fit or align themselves with their environment, strategies, capabilities and leadership skills. To compete successfully in highly competitive and constantly changing business environment, however, organizations also need to achieve fitness and the ability to learn and change to fit new circumstances. In other words, firms can lose their competitive advantage through the lapse of time, therefore leadership skills are the only sustainable competitive advantage firms can have. After a colleagues discussion, and a series research, we have decided that Hewlett Packard (HP) will be the subject of our case study for the Organizational Leadership course project. Reason being, the HP culture speaks, acts, and operates within their values, which will be further elaborated in their motto that is widely shared at HP, The HP Way . The core organizational values have been embedded and practiced by their employees over the years proves that HP is one of the best learning organizations around today. • 29. An Objectivists View on a Charles Dickens´Christmas Carol... Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is considered by many to be a classic for all the ages, if an objectivist point of view is used to analyse the social and political undertones of the story they will agree with most of it, if not all of it. One of the major parts that an objectivist would agree with in A Christmas Carol is how scrooge thinks of and how he treats the poor and infirm. Scrooge further develops his objectivist ideology by being completely self interested in both his personal and professional life. After Scrooge is visited by the three apparitions he is radically changed from a self interested, objectivist, to a positive and uplifting altruist. Wherefore the clerk put on his white comforter, and tried to warm himself at the candle; in which effort, not being a man of a strong imagination, he failed (7). Scrooge sees even the tiniest of waste or usage of materials a meaning for dismissal, even if the usage of materials is being used to better or help out another human. This shows Scrooges objective character because, he does not believe any materials should be used on the poor and everything thing should only be used for his own self interest. Expanding on Scrooges ideology of objectivism is when No beggars implored him to bestow a trifle, no children asked him what it was o clock, no man or woman ever once in all his life inquired the way to such and such a place, of Scrooge. The Impact of Stigma on Functioning in Bipolar Disorder Patients Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, is a mood disorder that requires careful medication management during a patient s lifetime (Halter, 2014, p. 227). Bipolar disorder is described as recurrent episodes of mood changes ranging from mania to irritability to depression (Halter, 2014, p. 228). Periods of normal functioning are also recurrent with mood shifts. Often times bipolar disorder goes undiagnosed for many years which is linked to undesirable outcomes such as suicide (Halter, 2014, p. 227). On the other hand, many patients with a definite diagnosis report denying their illness because of the stigma that is associated with mood disorders (Thome, Dargel, Migliavacca, Potter, Jappur, Kapczinski, Cereser, 2011) . Perceived stigma is an attribute that devalues or discriminates against a human being because of their mental illness (Pedneault, 2014). Stigmatizing attitudes can negatively impact on the patients psychosocial functioning, behavior tendencies and cognitive function. Research Appraisal I chose to do an article relating to bipolar disorder patients, because I have come into contact with numerous patients with both Bipolar I and Bipolar II diagnoses in clinical this semester and I enjoy speaking with them and listening to their stories. The generational reference is important because the prior generation is less understanding, such as Denise s elders. Also, they will rule with version because there will be a change from the previous generation. The lyrics music happen to be the food of love are situational irony within the scene considering that the song references music being the food of love after talking about a taboo topic that can fill many with hate.
