Seven Differents Jobs in Dental Occupations
Every tooth in a man s head is more valuable than a diamond, (Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote,
1605). Living by this philosophy, I ve decided that I want to become a dentist. When I made this
decision, I knew absolutely nothing about what it was like to be a dentist, and the numerous jobs I
could do as one. I thought that every dentist did the same thing, but boy was I wrong. Over the fifteen
plus hours I spent shadowing my mentor, Dr. Victor Nitu, I learnt a lot of new stuff that has helped me
narrow down what exactly I want to do as a dentist in the future. There are seven possible jobs I will
be covering, and each entail a different pay, amount of schooling needed, and job responsibilities. A
general practitioner/general dentist, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Endodontist, who has experience treating a wider range of tooth problems, may be better able to
recommend the best treatment than a general dentist ( What Is an Endodontist? 2014). The average
amount an Endodontist is projected to make is $249,000 per year ( Endodontist Salary, 2014). The
amount they make makes sense to me considering the fact that they are specialists at what they do.
The job of an Endodontist can be really repetitive also because a good 90% of your day will more
likely be spent doing root canals. I believe that this job will get very boring and taxing on the body
because of the amount of repetition involved. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the
prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants, (
What is a Periodontist? 2014). Because they have specialized in this area, they know the latest
technology to use, latest technique to do, and they can easily diagnose a patient dealing with their area
of specialty faster than a general dentist can. They tend to treat really serious cases like that of
someone with an intense medical history, and that of severe gum diseases. To become a periodontist,
one must first go to dental school, and then afterwards go to a three years periodontics specialty
program/school. After about 11 years of schooling, the average periodontist ends up making about
$249,000 (Periodontist Salary. 2014). I think that they deserve this amount of money that

Learning and Memory Essays
xxLEARNING AND MEMORY Learning is the process of gaining knowledge or skills through study,
experience or teaching. It is a process that depends on experience and leads to long term changes in
the possible behaviour of an individual in a given situation, in order to achieve a goal. Memory is a
property of the human mind. It describes the ability to retain information. There are different types of
classifications for memory based on duration, nature and retrieval of items. The generally accepted
classification of memory is based on how long you can remember an item or experience (memory
retention), and identifies three types of memory: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term
memory The sensory memory corresponds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It forms a part of the limbic system and plays a part in memory and navigation. The name derives
from its curved shape, which supposedly resembles that of a seahorse. Doctors and scientists dispute
the exact role of the hippocampus, but agree that it has an essential role in the formation of new
memories about personally experienced events. Some researchers prefer to consider the hippocampus
as part of a larger medial temporal lobe memory system responsible for declarative memory. When a
long term, declarative memory is made, certain neuronal connections in the temporal lobe are
strengthened, and others are weakened. These changes are fairly permanent, however some may take
weeks or months before they are complete Skill memory or procedural memory however, is processed
in the cerebellum and then the information is passed the basal ganglia which store memories of this
type and are also responsible for co ordination and refining movement . Diagram of parts of the
human brain Diagram showing the location of Hippocampus in the temporal lobe The first process of
memory is attention. There is much more information around you than you can process at any one
time. Thus, you must make choices (conscious and unconscious) regarding the information you will
remember. Once information is acknowledged, it needs to be encoded in order to be remembered.
Encoding refers to translating incoming information into a trigger

End Of Conventional Oil As A Fuel Source
End of Conventional Oil
In our recent history, oil has been the driver of the global economy. The advance of modern industrial
civilizations was facilitated by cheap and abundant energy in form of fossil fuels. At present, oil
accounts for about 40% of the primary energy source and natural gas contributes 23%. This statistic
shows how much the world is dependent on oil. The dependence on oil is majorly in the industrial,
transportation, and agricultural sectors. The use of oil as a fuel source is seen to have increased by
around 50% over the last century. The energy needs have been observed in the daily activities of
industry, private life, and commerce. The supply of economical oil in the world is limited. Most of the

Approximately5 6 million people are employed by the global O G industry. A direct effect of the
future oil crisis will be on the employment level globally. Rising unemployment will be a knock on
effect of the collapse of this industry as many other support industries are dependent on this industry.
Oil producing and exporting industries will take the major hit. All other countries of the world will
also be hit hard due to our dependence on oil to run most of our industries. I expect the challenge of
finding meaningful employment to be even greater for me in the engineering sector. Some of the
engineers directly employed in the O G industry include civil engineers, petroleum engineers,
mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, industrial engineers, analysts and traders, and oil drillers.
The combination of rising unemployment and rising cost of living will lead to increased recession and
higher poverty levels. A crisis in the oil industry eventually leads recessionary effects. Recessionary
effect in turn lead to a vicious cycle of poverty, starvation, and bankruptcy. Agricultural industries are
highly dependent on the cheap energy provided by crude oil. Lower agricultural productivity due to
effects of the oil crisis and higher energy costs will make food prices higher. The world may face more
serious hunger and famine problems. We will observe effects of bankruptcy and poverty due to bad
debts

Power In The Tempest
As English historian Lord Acton one said, Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts
absolutely. Regardless of culture, time period, or social standing there are numerous studies and
historical examples proving Lord Acton s claim to be true. Some of the most notable examples of this
are world leaders who assumed power and used that authority to abuse the population of their
countries. One instance where this applies is in England in the year of 1590 when a countess by the
name of Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed known today as The Blood Countess takes power. During her 20
year reign she would trick destitute peasant women to her castle under the impression that coming
there to work as maids. She would then torture and kill the unsuspecting ... Show more content on

clueless. Victor didn t have power by money or influence, but rather in the knowledge and the ability
to create the monster however he choses. Throughout the story the monster became a victim of the
choices Victor made. First Victor didn t consider what the monster s situation would be once he was
alive, then he abandoned the monster when he created it, and finally he refused to create a friend for
the monster which tortured the poor lonely creature. The power that Victor Frankenstein had was
knowledge, and amongst the excitement of that knowledge to create life he neglected to consider what
consequences for his creation may be. In the end this selfishness blinded him from the fact that life
would be awful for his outcast creation, and society wouldn t accept the monster. After failing to
consider the future, Frankenstein proceeded with his creation and the day the monster came to life he
ran away. Frankenstein let the fear of his creation drive him away in chapter 5, Unable to endure the

The Satirical Theme of The Princess Bride, by William Goldman
Satire with a funny twist. In the novel The Princess Bride, William Goldman satirizes both fairy tales
and the standard literary process through his characters and their actions. Westley, a poor farmer, falls
in love with the far from perfect maiden, Buttercup, but has to sail away in order to find his fortunes.
Years later, Buttercup, thinking that Westley abandoned her, is forcibly engaged to Prince
Humperdinck, a cruel and calculating man. Vizzini, Fezzik, and Inigo, three mysterious kidnappers,
abduct the princess in hopes of causing war between the great nations of Guilder and Florin. These
events and characters mirror those in a common fairy tale, but with many twists to them. The author,
William Goldman, uses both his role as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By portraying himself as an editor for the novel, Goldman interjects his personal thoughts into the
novel. In the very beginning of the novel he adds parentheses and tells the reader that he will continue
to include parenthetical references throughout the novel (46). Even though this is taboo, Goldman
gives little regard to the literary industry s rigid limitations, implying the belief that the writing
process should not be serious and structured; it should in fact be free flowing and enjoyable. Lastly,
Goldman goes on to criticize the literary process by having the ability to step outside of the fairy tale
as the editor and comment in a critical perspective. When Goldman removes a soliloquy that S.
Morgenstern had to put in this fairy tale he explains that the previous book was bombed by the critics
[because it did not include this soliloquy] and didn t [sell] beans (223). Goldman, through his writing,
implies that the literary industry is so narrow minded that they constantly attack those who disagree
with the accepted writing style. This mockery implies that the literary industry rules reflect its
inability to adjust to a changing society. By acting as both the writer and the editor, William Goldman
creates a satirical work that implicitly critiques the literary industry.
Likewise, Goldman s portrayal of his characters mocks the tropes

Neil Postman s Assertions And Today s Society
Christina Contreras

01 March 2017 Neil Postman s Assertions and Today s Society: Huxley s Brave New World could be
considered almost prophetic by many people today. It is alarmingly obvious how modern society is
eerily similar to Huxley s novel with the constant demand for instant gratification encouraging
laziness, greed, and entitlement. Neil Postman, a contemporary social critic, seems to have noticed this
similarity, as he has made bold, valid statements regarding the text and its relevance to our world
today. This response is strongly in support of those statements and will prove both their accuracy in
clarifying Huxley s intentions and how Postman s assertions compare to society today. One of

It comes as a justified fear considering everyone is coaxed into using social media by companies
making it overall more convenient to do everything online. Not only does this lead to laziness which is
terrible for physical health but selfishness in that what is most important is how the consumer fairs,
not others. In the novel, Linda sleeps with the husbands of other women in an effort to achieve sexual
stimulation. As a result, women [began] hitting her with a whip...and each time Linda screamed (134).
Chasing what she loved led to a negative outcome. Kyle Smith, author of the article Brave New World
(is Here!) , explains how a world prioritizing nothing but pleasure is nowhere near the heaven people
imagine. He explains how ...a happyland free of intimate bonds and arduous challenges is actually a
dystopia . Basically, and more familiarly, too much of anything is not a good thing, and that includes
pleasure. Lastly, at one point John tries to defend morals like being chaste. He is rebuked by Mustapha
Mond, who says, ...[chastity, passion, and neurasthenia]...lead to instability...and [thus] the end of
civilization (239). As he begins whipping himself in an act of self discipline, he is encouraged to

Pharmacist Prescribing History
History of Pharmacist Prescribing
Pharmacist independent prescribing has taken years of planning, review, and discussion, and it has
been a long fought journey from the early days of the 1980s when there has been a trend towards
increasing deregulations of prescription only medicines (POMs) to pharmacy only medicines (P
medicines) or general sale list (GSL) status for pharmacists counter prescribing role in pharmacies and
general retail outlets (Blenkinsopp A Bradley C, 1996) to we are today in the position where
pharmacists are able to prescribe for patients they have assessed and diagnosed independently.

Shusaku Endo s Silence 2nd Ending
A sticky drop of sweat rolled down from my greasy, unwashed hair all the way down into my old and
ripped peasant clothes to my chest. The guards gripped and squeezed my hand, making sure and
double checking once in every few seconds that I had no way of escaping, though I wasn t going to
escape anyway. There were two guards, one guard at each side of me. Each one carried a stick, a long
katana, along with a whip tied around their waist. As I walked down the streets many husbands and
wives came out to see the wonderful sight. They threw spears, pointy rocks and leftover food at me,
and called my horrific names like stupid priest and ignorant padre as I walked down the main streets

Cultural Anthropology Essay
Cultural Anthropology
Almost all cultures world wide have highly developed traditions of music and dance. According to
Mari Womack, author of Being Human: An Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, music and dance
carry much importance within a culture. As do other artistic forms, music and dance reflect cultural
and social organization. Cultural values can be conveyed in the words of a song, and the performance
of a song or a dance is dependent on the social context (Womack 226). Music and instruments are of
great significance in many places world wide. For example, the BaMbuti foragers from Africa s Ituri
rain forest have an instrument which they call the molimo which looks like an extremely long pipe.

When done correctly, it looks like an advanced version of the wave. These are fine examples of
Marching Band as the art of music and dance.
Marching Band is, in most high schools, on the fringes of society. Those instrument toting kids spend
countless hours fine tuning their skills, only to receive little respect from the rest of the students. They
are called band nerds. They are laughed at. And yet they persist. But why? Why not give into the
mainstream high school culture and join football or cheer leading? Why spend countless hours playing
and replaying their parts until their fingers are worn to the bone when they could be watching movies,
going on dates, and eating pizza? These were my questions based on my limited knowledge of high
school marching bands. So, I decided to use my budding role as anthropologist to find out.
My first step was to select a marching band to study. Luckily, the local high school, Goshen High
School, has an excellent marching band which has competed at the state level for the last decade. A
friend of mine at Goshen College who was a member of the band helped me to contact a current
member of the band who could assist me by being my informant. For my informant, I chose a student,
Jordan, who is currently involved in the band as a section leader, but has been in several other roles as
well. Jordan also has been involved in the Marching Band for all of his four years of high

The Birdcage Essay
In analyzing the style of Emmanuel Lubezki I found that his techniques adapts to the style/needs of
the director and the movie he works on. In the movie The Birdcage, he uses a long lens glamour style
whereas, in Children of Men he takes on his famous natural lighting style with a handheld camera.
What s unique about these two styles is that he manages to show that the subjects/actors are the main
focus and they standout and look amazing whether natural or artificial, he produces natural looking
shots. Lubezki also uses techniques in camera to create the best shoot without green screens although,
when used, the lighting holdes the image together and creates believable moments.
Lubezki has two predominant styles of lighting the actors faces. One is called short lite, which is when
the shadow side of the subject s faces the camera (three fourths lighting style) and the other style of
lighting cuts right down the middle of the actors faces. We see this in A Series of Unfortunate Events,

The Conservation Of Mechanical Energy
Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to test the conservation of mechanical energy. This was done so
by using two different methods: (1) to test the conservation of mechanical energy using a cart with a
load set on a PASCO track attached to a hanging mass by a string and pulley, and (2) to test the
conservation of mechanical energy using a spring attached to a hanging mass. . In the first part of the
lab involving gravitational potential energy, the theoretical value to be consistent with the law of
conservation of mechanical energy was 0 J/m, but instead we obtained a value for ∆E/∆y to be
0.04772  0.00209 J/m. In the second part of the lab involving spring potential energy, the net change
in energy should have been 0J, yet we calculated a value of 3.14  0.13 J. Although our result for the
first part of the lab was quite accurate and close to 0 J/m, our result for the second part was not
consistent with the theory since the value greatly deviates from zero. The cause of this may have been
certain errors while performing the lab.
Gravitational Potential Energy
Introduction and Theory: The energy that an object has due to its position in a gravitational field due
to its position is known as the gravitational potential energy (ΔU). It is known that energy is
conserved, so when the cart is released, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy (ΔK).
Due to friction, the equation would be non conservative, yet the weight of paperclips can be used as a

The Crucial Role Of Parenting In The 80 s
Throughout American history, parenting has been a crucial role in the development of children. These
developments have not come without change. Through the past 30 years, new problems have emerged
for parents, as well as new lights. From the psychedelic, unhealthy, and judgmental times of the 80s,
the free spirited and economically successful 90s, to the technology savvy, open mindedness, and
fashion savvy 2000s, parenting has changed drastically over the last 3 decades. In the 80s, drugs were
easy for teens to access. Many parents had to worry about their children taking drugs. Cigarettes
especially were an easy access for most teens. According to Aaron Traister, it was so easy to get
cigarettes and they were so cheap... Also, the 80s was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the rise of technology, many parents have become less social with their children. What s been
the experience of the Millennials is it s been a lot of social media, constantly electronically connected,
and it s been much less humanly connected, so then they re parenting in that same way (Weston,
Alonzo). Instead of taking their kids to the park, they let their kids play on the iPad all day. Even
though this is sad, many parents today are more understandable than other parents in the past.
Millennials parenting style focuses more on individuality and less on structure than previous
generations (Weston, Alonzo). Parents are more diverse, in the fact that, in the 80s and 90s, it was rare
to see an interracial marriage. Millennial parents are described as being more optimistic, ethnically
diverse, digitally savvy and less bound by traditional gender roles (Weston, Alonzo). Many people in
today s society are urging for equality for all people. Because of these rises in movements, parents
have become more open minded, especially about same sex marriage. Another thing that has changed

Theme Of The Zoo Story
The Zoo Story is said to be the most impressive debut ever made by an American dramatist (Bigsby
129). The title of the play, The Zoo Story, is a significant title as it shows that it is not a story about
someone who visits the zoo and sees the animals, but it shows how the protagonist, Jerry, lives with
his neighbors. Although they are living in a rooming house, they are isolated from each other in their
rooms, like animals, and unable to form relationship even with the landlady s dog (Hayman 189), like
the animals in the zoo who live in cages. Kenneth Krauss says the title of the play itself: The Zoo
Story,... is the play s story of how modern urban life transpires in a landscape where human animals

In this play, Jerry fails to communicate with everyone, even the landlady s dog. When he met Peter at
the park, he decided to make communication with him through telling him stories. He begins to tell
him about his life, where he lives, his neighbors that he never speaks with, and how the landlady tries
to satisfy her needs, especially the sexual ones through harassing him whenever he comes back to his
room and finally to attract him more. He tells Peter about his story with the dog. But after all of these
stories, he fails to have any communication with Peter. Robert S. Wallace says that what Jerry fails to
realize, is that his use of words has added to his isolation (152). His words as well had separated him
from the audience and separated the audience from the play. Wallace believes that Jerry manages to
communicate with Peter through body language not through verbal language (154). Mary M. Nilan
believes that the reason for lack of communication in society is because that the concept of love has
demolished (128). In The Zoo Story, Jerry says that if we can so misunderstand, well then, why have
we invented the word love in the first place? (36). Jerry s inability to communicate with the landlady s
dog and Peter, drove him to commit

The Five Forces Model of Competition
The competitive pressure in the industry was very fierce. Competition existed between many countries
in 2008. Solar PV growth witnessed an increase of 5.6 gigawatts up to 14.73 gigawatts in 2008.
Geographically, total installed capacity was split: 65 % in Europe, 15 % in Japan, 8 % in the United
States. The strongest market was Spain which counted for half of the installations because of
implementing the Renewable Energy Feed in Tariff which stands for ( REFT or FIT). This program
guaranteed electricity rates for certain renewable projects. In 2008, Spain witnesses a vast rate of
growth in its ability to dominate the PV market. The Spanish government implemented the 500MW
for its installation for the next couple of years. But Spain was expected to witness a drop in its growth
by 2009. The second competitor in the industry was Germany. It covered 26.7 % of PV installations
and it was the first country to introduce the Renewable Energy Feed in Tariff into the industry.
Moreover, the United States and South Korea, Italy, and Japan were also among the strong
competitors. The United States installations were 6 % , South Korea was 5 %,Italy was 4.9 %, and
Japan was 4 %. The Five Forces Model of Competition: 1. Competitive pressure steaming from
supplier bargaining power: On the supply side of the PV manufacturer there were raw materials
suppliers for goods such as silicon, glass, substrates, metal and cables. Also, there were specialized

The Righteous One Follows God, Not The Unrighteous ( Vv )
A. The righteous one follows God, not the unrighteous (vv. 1 2)
The psalm begins by declaring that the righteous one is ‫אשרי‬. The word is usually translated blessed,
or happy. It is distinct from ‫רּוְך‬‫ָב‬ (also translated blessed ) in that the latter invokes the beneficent work
of God on persons and groups, while ‫אשרי‬ is a beatitude and points to and commends the conduct and
character that enjoys [God s blessing]. Neither word is perfect, because ‫אשרי‬ describes both secular
and spiritual happiness, and Brown suggests truly happy as a translation that captures both.
This is followed by three parallel phrases describing how the righteous one is not like the unrighteous.
Each line contains a different verb describing what the righteous one does not do, a different object
noun describing an aspect of the unrighteous, and a different genitive noun used to name the
unrighteous.
The three verbs translated literally are walk, stand, and sit, and are three of the most common verbs in
the Hebrew language. All of these verbs can be used metaphorically, as is the case here. These three
verbs are all are in the perfect tense, and VanGemeren comments that this indicates the godly are never
involved with anything tainted with evil.
I don t know if you can show that using the perfect tense means absolutes in this instance. However, it
s worth observing that these are the only indicatives that are clearly in the perfect mood in the whole
psalm. All of the other

Panzer Division s and concrete slabs just laying around on the ground charred due to the tanks and

area with the river crossing near it is accurate in the film. The film shows the bridge that was blown up

The Mask Of The Bear By Margaret Laurence
Margaret Laurence was a Canadian novelist born in Manitoba. She liked to travel and she based some
of her works on the places she visited. Five of her books are based on a town called Manawaka,
though it is fiction, it is based on her birthplace. The story The Mask of the Bear by Margaret
Laurence, portrays a young girl that lives in an unhealthy environment, this is shown through the
themes of entrapment and loneliness, through certain aspects of Vanessa s writing by using her mind
and body to escape, and furthermore, the story also combines the symbolism of wearing a mask. The
theme of entrapment and loneliness displays how Vanessa lives in an unhealthy home. Through

The above quote states, the family , it does not say, my family and Vanessa keeps on referring to the
house as the Brick house , it is never referred to as a home, this ties in to the idea of entrapment within
this family and house that Vanessa feels estranged too. In contrast, all the family members had decided
to cope in different ways, which included loneliness and entrapment within themselves. The
grandfather only desired lone time, [t]hen he went down to the basement by himself (Laurence 77). It
seems as though, the grandfather goes down into the basement every time he is faced with a hard
situation. One of Vanessa s uncles that lived in Toronto came for the funeral and his way of dealing is
the least healthy, Uncle Terence went straight into the kitchen, brought out his pocket flask, and
poured a hefty slag of whiskey for himself (Laurence 78). All the different ways that the family
members decided to cope is very important because they all show Vanessa how she might consider
dealing with future deaths. In brief, loneliness and entrapment is an unhealthy type of environment for
children to be around, there are different ways that theses aspects are shown within this story; silences
and the feelings of uselessness; neglect during hard times; and, seeking solitary and the help of a
bottle.

Generic Vs Brand Ativan Essay
Which is Better: Cheap Ativan (Generic) or Brand Ativan?
When you surf the internet, you will find that there are two kinds of lorazepam on the market. One
version will be very costly while the other kind of lorazepam is relatively cheaper. Should people stick
with the costlier brand name version of Ativan medication or choose the cheap version?
Brand vs. Generic
The original company to introduce lorazepam to the world intended the medication to act as a cure for
anxiety and other stress conceived problems. During the first few years of Ativan being on the market,
the original company, also known as the mother company, had exclusive rights to the FDA approved
drug. Since that company had incurred millions of dollars in expenses during the testing, researching,
and marketing of lorazepam, the price of the medication was very high. After the mother company s
patent rights had expired, a lot of other companies started to make their own version of Ativan. Since
the research and testing processes were already done by the mother company, the companies can

Can I buy the cheaper generic medications?
Though the chemical composition of the cheap Ativan is the same as that of the branded Ativan, some
of the generic medications have unique inactive components. Not all generic brands are approved by
the FDA. Only a very few manufacturers have gotten approval from the FDA for their lorazepam
medications. These verified generic brands are as effective as the brand name one.
You should avoid the few manufacturers who are not approved by FDA. Surf the internet to discover
which manufacturers have gotten their generic medications approved.

brush with death that is literally a burning bush experience drives him to mark the change in his life by

Whenever he gets a chance, he looks at his tattoos, but notices that the effect was not of one intricate
arabesque of colors but of something haphazard and botched. A huge dissatisfaction would come over
him.... As the space on the front of him for tattoos decreased, his dissatisfaction grew and became
general (514). He is seeking something greater. This dissatisfaction is amplified when he meets Sarah
Ruth. Even though he finds her physically unattractive, he cannot help falling in love with her. She is
the only person he reveals his true name to. Several factors play into this attraction. Although Parker s
tattoos were attractive to the kind of girls he liked but who had never liked him before (513), Sarah
Ruth detests them and calls them vanity of vanities (515), and this playing hard to get fascinates him.
Sarah Ruth s religiosity attracts him as well: She had asked him if he was saved and he had replied
that he didn t see it was anything in particular to save him from. After that, inspired, Parker had said, I
d be saved enough if you was to kiss me (518). Although religion was something he ran from
previously, Parker desires to be near to it as an attempt to appease his unrest. But more importantly,
Sarah Ruth s demand to know his full name, his identity (something she does twice), is the strongest
attraction. When

Rhetorical Analysis Of Hoop Dreams Directed By Steve James
The purpose of the documentary Hoop Dreams directed by Steve James, is to show how people from
different backgrounds can create their own destiny based on the choices they make for themselves.
The beginning of the documentary introduces the viewers to William Gates and Arthur Agee s aspiring
dreams to become NBA basketball players. Steve James uses rhetorical and cinematic techniques to
achieve this purpose.
In the beginning of the film, James begins by using the indirect interview technique with William and
Arthur to appeal to ethos. The interviews are conducted in both of the boys homes in order to show the
viewers the poor conditions they are living in. The interviews also illustrate the similar backgrounds
and culture that both the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The middle of the documentary reflects the different values and paths the characters begin to make for
themselves. Steve James begins using other cinematic techniques like a point of view shot in order to
show the relationship between Arthur s strained relationship with his father. There is a scene where
Arthur watches his dad buy drugs near the basketball court. The point of shot helped appeal to ethos,
because the viewers were able to relate to Arthur s sadness and loneliness more easily. James uses sad
non diegetic music to show how bad Arthur s home life has gotten. The music plays when Arthur s
mom talks about losing her job, which signifies how traumatic this event is. Steve James uses a
primary footage technique to show how Arthur has lost focus in school. The footage shows Arthur
goofing off in class with his troubled friend. The technique helps show how Arthur s life is slowly
falling apart, and how his values and motivation have shifted and not for the better. Meanwhile,
William is being helped financially in his new school which is keeping him motivated to succeed. The
director uses the non diegetic music technique to show how well William is doing on the new
basketball team. The purpose of this is to show how William is succeeding in his new school. Steve
James also uses

  • 2. Seven Differents Jobs in Dental Occupations Every tooth in a man s head is more valuable than a diamond, (Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote, 1605). Living by this philosophy, I ve decided that I want to become a dentist. When I made this decision, I knew absolutely nothing about what it was like to be a dentist, and the numerous jobs I could do as one. I thought that every dentist did the same thing, but boy was I wrong. Over the fifteen plus hours I spent shadowing my mentor, Dr. Victor Nitu, I learnt a lot of new stuff that has helped me narrow down what exactly I want to do as a dentist in the future. There are seven possible jobs I will be covering, and each entail a different pay, amount of schooling needed, and job responsibilities. A general practitioner/general dentist, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An Endodontist, who has experience treating a wider range of tooth problems, may be better able to recommend the best treatment than a general dentist ( What Is an Endodontist? 2014). The average amount an Endodontist is projected to make is $249,000 per year ( Endodontist Salary, 2014). The amount they make makes sense to me considering the fact that they are specialists at what they do. The job of an Endodontist can be really repetitive also because a good 90% of your day will more likely be spent doing root canals. I believe that this job will get very boring and taxing on the body because of the amount of repetition involved. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants, ( What is a Periodontist? 2014). Because they have specialized in this area, they know the latest technology to use, latest technique to do, and they can easily diagnose a patient dealing with their area of specialty faster than a general dentist can. They tend to treat really serious cases like that of someone with an intense medical history, and that of severe gum diseases. To become a periodontist, one must first go to dental school, and then afterwards go to a three years periodontics specialty program/school. After about 11 years of schooling, the average periodontist ends up making about $249,000 (Periodontist Salary. 2014). I think that they deserve this amount of money that ... • 3. Learning and Memory Essays xxLEARNING AND MEMORY Learning is the process of gaining knowledge or skills through study, experience or teaching. It is a process that depends on experience and leads to long term changes in the possible behaviour of an individual in a given situation, in order to achieve a goal. Memory is a property of the human mind. It describes the ability to retain information. There are different types of classifications for memory based on duration, nature and retrieval of items. The generally accepted classification of memory is based on how long you can remember an item or experience (memory retention), and identifies three types of memory: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory The sensory memory corresponds ... The name derives from its curved shape, which supposedly resembles that of a seahorse. Doctors and scientists dispute the exact role of the hippocampus, but agree that it has an essential role in the formation of new memories about personally experienced events. Some researchers prefer to consider the hippocampus as part of a larger medial temporal lobe memory system responsible for declarative memory. When a long term, declarative memory is made, certain neuronal connections in the temporal lobe are strengthened, and others are weakened. These changes are fairly permanent, however some may take weeks or months before they are complete Skill memory or procedural memory however, is processed in the cerebellum and then the information is passed the basal ganglia which store memories of this type and are also responsible for co ordination and refining movement . Diagram of parts of the human brain Diagram showing the location of Hippocampus in the temporal lobe The first process of memory is attention. There is much more information around you than you can process at any one time. Thus, you must make choices (conscious and unconscious) regarding the information you will remember. Once information is acknowledged, it needs to be encoded in order to be remembered. Encoding refers to translating incoming information into a trigger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. End Of Conventional Oil As A Fuel Source End of Conventional Oil In our recent history, oil has been the driver of the global economy. The advance of modern industrial civilizations was facilitated by cheap and abundant energy in form of fossil fuels. At present, oil accounts for about 40% of the primary energy source and natural gas contributes 23%. This statistic shows how much the world is dependent on oil. The dependence on oil is majorly in the industrial, transportation, and agricultural sectors. The use of oil as a fuel source is seen to have increased by around 50% over the last century. • 6. Power In The Tempest As English historian Lord Acton one said, Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Regardless of culture, time period, or social standing there are numerous studies and historical examples proving Lord Acton s claim to be true. Some of the most notable examples of this are world leaders who assumed power and used that authority to abuse the population of their countries. One instance where this applies is in England in the year of 1590 when a countess by the name of Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed known today as The Blood Countess takes power. During her 20 year reign she would trick destitute peasant women to her castle under the impression that coming there to work as maids. She would then torture and kill the unsuspecting ... First Victor didn t consider what the monster s situation would be once he was alive, then he abandoned the monster when he created it, and finally he refused to create a friend for the monster which tortured the poor lonely creature. The power that Victor Frankenstein had was knowledge, and amongst the excitement of that knowledge to create life he neglected to consider what consequences for his creation may be. • 7. The Satirical Theme of The Princess Bride, by William Goldman Satire with a funny twist. In the novel The Princess Bride, William Goldman satirizes both fairy tales and the standard literary process through his characters and their actions. Westley, a poor farmer, falls in love with the far from perfect maiden, Buttercup, but has to sail away in order to find his fortunes. Years later, Buttercup, thinking that Westley abandoned her, is forcibly engaged to Prince Humperdinck, a cruel and calculating man. Vizzini, Fezzik, and Inigo, three mysterious kidnappers, abduct the princess in hopes of causing war between the great nations of Guilder and Florin. These events and characters mirror those in a common fairy tale, but with many twists to them. The author, William Goldman, uses both his role as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By portraying himself as an editor for the novel, Goldman interjects his personal thoughts into the novel. In the very beginning of the novel he adds parentheses and tells the reader that he will continue to include parenthetical references throughout the novel (46). Even though this is taboo, Goldman gives little regard to the literary industry s rigid limitations, implying the belief that the writing process should not be serious and structured; it should in fact be free flowing and enjoyable. Lastly, Goldman goes on to criticize the literary process by having the ability to step outside of the fairy tale as the editor and comment in a critical perspective. When Goldman removes a soliloquy that S. Morgenstern had to put in this fairy tale he explains that the previous book was bombed by the critics [because it did not include this soliloquy] and didn t [sell] beans (223). Goldman, through his writing, implies that the literary industry is so narrow minded that they constantly attack those who disagree with the accepted writing style. This mockery implies that the literary industry rules reflect its inability to adjust to a changing society. By acting as both the writer and the editor, William Goldman creates a satirical work that implicitly critiques the literary industry. Neil Postman s Assertions And Today s Society Christina Contreras Mr. Limon ERWC 01 March 2017 Neil Postman s Assertions and Today s Society: Huxley s Brave New World could be considered almost prophetic by many people today. It is alarmingly obvious how modern society is eerily similar to Huxley s novel with the constant demand for instant gratification encouraging laziness, greed, and entitlement. Neil Postman, a contemporary social critic, seems to have noticed this similarity, as he has made bold, valid statements regarding the text and its relevance to our world today. According to Mari Womack, author of Being Human: An Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, music and dance carry much importance within a culture. As do other artistic forms, music and dance reflect cultural and social organization. Cultural values can be conveyed in the words of a song, and the performance of a song or a dance is dependent on the social context (Womack 226). Marching Band is, in most high schools, on the fringes of society. Those instrument toting kids spend countless hours fine tuning their skills, only to receive little respect from the rest of the students. They are called band nerds. They are laughed at. And yet they persist. But why? Why not give into the mainstream high school culture and join football or cheer leading? Why spend countless hours playing and replaying their parts until their fingers are worn to the bone when they could be watching movies, going on dates, and eating pizza? These were my questions based on my limited knowledge of high school marching bands. So, I decided to use my budding role as anthropologist to find out. My first step was to select a marching band to study. Luckily, the local high school, Goshen High School, has an excellent marching band which has competed at the state level for the last decade. In the movie The Birdcage, he uses a long lens glamour style whereas, in Children of Men he takes on his famous natural lighting style with a handheld camera. What s unique about these two styles is that he manages to show that the subjects/actors are the main focus and they standout and look amazing whether natural or artificial, he produces natural looking shots. Lubezki also uses techniques in camera to create the best shoot without green screens although, when used, the lighting holdes the image together and creates believable moments. • 16. The Conservation Of Mechanical Energy Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to test the conservation of mechanical energy. This was done so by using two different methods: (1) to test the conservation of mechanical energy using a cart with a load set on a PASCO track attached to a hanging mass by a string and pulley, and (2) to test the conservation of mechanical energy using a spring attached to a hanging mass. . In the first part of the lab involving gravitational potential energy, the theoretical value to be consistent with the law of conservation of mechanical energy was 0 J/m, but instead we obtained a value for ∆E/∆y to be 0.04772  0.00209 J/m. In the second part of the lab involving spring potential energy, the net change in energy should have been 0J, yet we calculated a value of 3.14  0.13 J. Although our result for the first part of the lab was quite accurate and close to 0 J/m, our result for the second part was not consistent with the theory since the value greatly deviates from zero. The cause of this may have been certain errors while performing the lab. Gravitational Potential Energy Introduction and Theory: The energy that an object has due to its position in a gravitational field due to its position is known as the gravitational potential energy (ΔU). It is known that energy is conserved, so when the cart is released, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy (ΔK). Although they are living in a rooming house, they are isolated from each other in their rooms, like animals, and unable to form relationship even with the landlady s dog (Hayman 189), like the animals in the zoo who live in cages. • 21. The Righteous One Follows God, Not The Unrighteous ( Vv ) A. The righteous one follows God, not the unrighteous (vv. 1 2) The psalm begins by declaring that the righteous one is ‫אשרי‬. The word is usually translated blessed, or happy. It is distinct from ‫רּוְך‬‫ָב‬ (also translated blessed ) in that the latter invokes the beneficent work of God on persons and groups, while ‫אשרי‬ is a beatitude and points to and commends the conduct and character that enjoys [God s blessing]. Neither word is perfect, because ‫אשרי‬ describes both secular and spiritual happiness, and Brown suggests truly happy as a translation that captures both. This is followed by three parallel phrases describing how the righteous one is not like the unrighteous. Each line contains a different verb describing what the righteous one does not do, a different object noun describing an aspect of the unrighteous, and a different genitive noun used to name the unrighteous. The three verbs translated literally are walk, stand, and sit, and are three of the most common verbs in the Hebrew language. All of these verbs can be used metaphorically, as is the case here. These three verbs are all are in the perfect tense, and VanGemeren comments that this indicates the godly are never involved with anything tainted with evil.
