The Place of Islamic Law in Tanzania Mainland
THE PLACE OF ISLAMIC LAW IN TANZANIA MAINLAND.
BY YUSUF SHIKANDAABDALLAH
ZANZIBAR UNIVERSITY.
Introduction: Islam is one of the Universal religions of the world. As a religion, Islam is governed by
an assortment of divine laws known as shariah of which its sources are mainly attributed to the divine
revelations in the Holy Qur an and traditions of the Prophet (P.B.U.H). This package is what forms the
basis of the spiritual, economic, political and social guidance of Muslims. Thus, all the laws of Islam
have to be annexed to and borne of the Holy texts. Contrary to this, such laws would be regarded as un
Islamic. On the other hand, as regards the modern states, the mother of all laws is the constitution. It

In effect, Native Courts were established in 1929 by the Native Courts Ordinance, Cap 73.These
Native Courts were subordinate to the High Court. The Native Courts were presided over by Liwali,
Kadhi, Akida, Chief, and Headman and were to exercise civil or criminal jurisdiction within an area
prescribed by the Governor. However, the life of these courts came to an end in 1951 when the Local
Courts Ordinance, Cap 299 came into being. The Local courts were confined to Africans and
administered customary criminal and civil law and a limited number of statutory laws. Another
development was witnessed in 1958 when urban courts were established by the Liwalis (Functions
and Powers) Ordinance, Cap.408.Liwali courts were presided over by magistrates employed by the
Government under the title of liwalis who also exercised executive functions within their own urban
area. Although the British colonial state gave recognition to the indigenous judicial institutions under
native law and custom, it however, permitted customary criminal law to be applied by the Native
subordinate courts but not the Islamic criminal law. The turning point for the administration of justice
in Tanganyika was in 1920, when the British colonizers officially imported and imposed an alien legal
system. This was done through the Tanganyika Order in Council 1920.According to this order , courts
were to apply native law subject to the English

The Namesake By Jhumpa Lahiri Cultural Identity
Cultural Identity is the framework that shapes who one is, as a person. It helps one to sustain self
identity and belonging anywhere in society. Although it might be transformed over time, it is the way
people undergo adversity. This sense of cultural identity is portrayed through the character, Ashima
Ganguli, who was ordained to reshape her identity when she migrated to America with her husband,
Ashoke. This move to America specifically Boston, allowed Ashima to be faced with tribulations
within herself. Ashima is characterized as a hesitant migrant who did not understand how to deal with
her situation (Lahiri Roy). Throughout the text of The Namesake, Jhumpa Lahiri develops the
character of Ashima Ganguli to shed light on the progression ... Show more content on

Ashima surrounds herself with other Bengali migrants who are able to relate to her situation. They all
come from Calcutta, and for this reason alone they are friends (Lahiri 38). This sense of socializing
with others from the same culture gives Ashima a sense of connection and belonging. Although, she
begins to slowly do American things, she sti;; foes not feel fully at home...on Pemberton road (Lahiri

not to protest against her son Gogol s relationships. They ve even gone so far as to point out examples
of Bengali men they know who ve married Americans, marriages that have ended in divorce (Lahiri
117). Ashima and Ashoke have a completely different outlook of love and marriage than Gogol. They
see love as something tied to marriage, but Gogol is not even interested in that stuff. It is clearly
inferred that Ashima and Ashoke have the old frame of thinking when it comes to marriage. It is not
seen till later where Ashima is accepting of her daughter Sonia s relationship with an American. This
acceptance of her daughter s relationship shoes he willingness to accept others who do not always

Ligation Analysis Lab
Background Amplified luxAB genes of isolated chromosomal DNA from Vibrio fischeri bacteria were
ligated into digested pGEM [1]. The cut pGEM contained a stuffer a small fragment of DNA
positioned between the EcoR1 and Xba1 restriction sites and located within the polylinker region of
the plasmid [1]. The stuffer fragment could potentially re ligate back into the plasmid instead of the
desired insert, namely the digested PCR product with luxAB genes [1]. Ligation reactions varied in
two ways: via insert to plasmid ratios (either 1:1 or 2:1) and via the inclusion or exclusion of the
stuffer fragment within pGEM [1]. The purpose of this experiment is to assess the effects of varying
ligation parameters on the success of cloning luxAB genes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Contribution To The Rise Of Capitalism In Medieval Europe
Feudalism is a system of social order that was dominate in what was medieval Europe. With this
social order, it provoked authority over its inhabitants. Nobility was in direct control of land masses
from the crown. What was given back was the loyalty to serve the military when needed. Vassals were
tenants of nobles, and peasants were to live on the land. Give what they produce as taxes for military
protection. This act of social order was used from about 300 to 1400 AD. Capitalism, at this stage, was
just beginning to develop and become something meaningful to the continent. There was a lot wrong
with Feudalism at that time, just like everything has their pros and cons, but feudalism had collapsed
and made way to the concept of Capitalism. These are shown in many factors and the contributions to
the rise of Capitalism very. These factors which saw the decreased use of feudalism include external
forces that shaped medieval societies to change.
There were many factors that influenced the rise of Capitalism through what Feudalism consisted of.
There were many Internal wars that took place during this time. There were many rebellions that
clashed with the monarchy. Because of this, tension between groups were at an all time high. One of
the key moments of rebellious actions took place during the peasant Revolt which took place in the
14th Century. Peasant s were fighting against a Poll tax which they thought was wrong to do. Peasants
demanded that all men should be free

Dreaming from Various Sources
The objective of this paper is to explore many articles covering the purpose of dreaming from various
sources. The articles, however, may vary from researcher to researcher. As such, this paper will also
detail the different theories about the usefulness of dreams. This paper will also take time to explain
what a dream is, when dreams happen, and what their potential purposes may be. To start this paper,
we first must understand what a dream is. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a dream is a
series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep . Dreams take the things we see during
our waking hours and translate them into unique, sometimes horrifying, and possibly meaningful
ways. Dreams could also be representations of subconscious feelings and desires, bubbling up from
deep within our psyche. However, the actual purpose of dreams remains a mystery, even to today s
foremost experts on this subject. Sigmund Freud attempted to understand what dreams meant; he
thought that dreams were safeguards attempt deeper and darker desires from the human mind s id.
Decades later, scientist John Allan Hobson theorized that dreams are a result of the brain attempting to
interpret random electrical impulses within the brain, producing often elaborate and vivid details and
plots while we sleep. Other research suggests that dreams are the brain s unique way of organizing
disparate information; a kind of nightly mental reformatting. The average Joe takes a

Essay on The Role of Labor in American History
This brief history of more than 100 years of the modern trade union movement in the United States
can only touch the high spots of activity and identify the principal trends of a century of achievement.
In such a condensation of history, episodes of importance and of great human drama must necessarily
be discussed far too briefly, or in some cases relegated to a mere mention.
What is clearly evident, however, is that the working people of America have had to unite in struggle
to achieve the gains that they have accumulated during this century. Improvements did not come
easily. Organizing unions, winning the right to representation, using the collective bargaining process
as the core of their activities, struggling against bias and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

society striving for their share of opportunity and rewards..... to the blacks, the Hispanics and other
minorities..... to women striving for jobs and equal or comparable pay . . . to those who work for better
schools, for the freedom of speech, press and assembly guaranteed by the Bill of Rights ... to those
seeking to make our cities more livable or our rural recreation areas more available . . . to those
seeking better health for infants and more secure status for the elderly.
Through these decades, in addition, the unions of America have functioned in an economy and a
technology marked by awesome change. When the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions
gathered in convention in 1881, Edison had two years earlier invented the electric light, and the first
telephone conversation had taken place just five years before. There were no autos, no airplanes, no
radio, no television, no air conditioning, no computers or calculators, no electronic games. For our
modest energy needs coal, kerosene and candies we were independently self sufficient.

Quantum Mechanics And Its Effect On An Extremely Small Level
Megan Griffin
Quantum Mechanics Quantum mechanics is an account of how things rendition on an extremely small
level. Protons, Neutrons, and electrons are not balls of matter, but more like little concentrations of
energy. According to the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, if we look at or measure the position of an
electron, then other crucial information about it is lost. Also, at the moment we observe it, it basically
gives that electron a position and identity in the realm of the natural (Berge). In other words, our
observations can alter the experiment and aid the changes as they explain the results. Quantum
mechanics is just as scientifically provable as Newton physics, but makes less sense to our intuitive
rational minds. (Ford). In science, things we perceive as particles sometimes act like waves. In return,
things we view as waves sometimes act like particles. For example, when people consider electrons
and light, they determine electrons as particles and light as waves. Although this is accurate, under
some circumstances electrons act as a wave or light acts as a particle. In an experiment, if you take
light and shine it on two slits that are close together, each slit acts like it admits its own beam of light.
If a screen is behind it you will see a pattern of dark spots and light spots. You can predict this based
on the fact that light is a wave. If you take the light away and do the same thing with a beam of
electrons, they do the same thing.

Boys Behavior In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
The behavior of the boys prior to the storm coming was calm as the boys were on the beach, and Jack
was feeding both Ralph and Piggy and there was only a thunderous brass. (pg. 149) However, Jack
begins an argument with Ralph and says that the conch doesn t count at this end of the island. Shortly
after Jack says this, all at once, the thunder stuck. Instead of the dull boom, there was a point of
impact in the explosion. (pg. 150) The description of the storm quickly changed as it is now being
described as more intense as before, since the word explosion is used to describe the thunder instead
of dull boom. Since the description of the storm began to escalate directly after Jack began to
challenge Ralph and the rule of the conch therefore becoming chaotic, and defying order the
correlation of the intensity of the storm and the boys behavior is made clear. Then, the storm begins to
bring thunder [that was] only just bearable and [a] flickering bright light [that] became brighter (pg.

Homoid Homicide In Honduras
Honduras has a serious amount of homicides occurring in their community. Within their economy,
Honduras is one of the poorest countries, with about 65% of their citizens living in poverty. During his
term, President Zelaya stirred controversy among the country through acts of reforming the
constitution and making unethical policy decisions (U.S. Department of State, 2011). Honduras has
been ranked the most violence country on the globe. This accounts for the one death per hour ratio that
is due to political views of Zelaya, inequality among citizens, and organized crime (B Lajoie, D
Andrea, Rodriquez, Greenough, Patel, 2014). These occurrences of homicide are a critical aspect of
Honduras mental health and well being that desperately needs to be changed for the lives of their
citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homicide effects individual s daily lives as well as their mental health. The aftermath of death on one
s family and friends can cause serious mental health disorders. For example, post traumatic stress,
anxiety, and inconsistent sleep patterns (Frontières, 2017). When it comes to data collection of
homicide events in Honduras, some information may be inaccurate or incomplete due to the
inconsistency in reports. However, data collected about 9,453 violent deaths were reported in 2013 in
Honduras. Per one hundred thousand people, there was 318.3 homicides among men aged between
twenty to twenty four. Also, among those numbers, 15% of those killed were assaulted, stabbed, or
shot (B Lajoie, D Andrea, Rodriquez, Greenough, Patel, 2014). Through this data, the evidence is
clear that this act of homicide is still a deadly act that needs to be decreased in order to better the lives
of citizens and increasing Honduras s public

Benefits Of Genetically Modified Organisms
It has been almost 20 years that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have been in American s

hazardous health issues in animals, these products are still deemed safe for human consumption
according to the standards of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Interests in their
potentially harmful risks to humans have recently spiked triggering over twenty five countries to

By slipping it into our food without our knowledge, without any indication that there are genetically
modified organisms in our food, we are now unwittingly part of a massive experiment says journalist
Arjun Walia (Walia). GMOs need to be labeled, for it is the consumers health at risk while the farming
companies focus solely on the cost efficient qualities and profit of their dangerous products, not to
mention their ethical violation of nature. GMOs are considered to be as safe as their traditional
counterparts according to the FDA and are generally regulated (U.S. Food and Drug Administration),
the FDA does not refer to this category of foods as GMOs, but rather as GEs, genetically engineered.
Perhaps their reluctance to use the term GMO is intentional and to disassociate the products with the
infamous negative connotations. The following quote is from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
website, according to the section of their website titled Views on GE Foods , the FDA has a seemingly
very neutral stance regarding the manufacturing and market of said products: While FDA regulates
foods and ingredients, including foods made from GE plants, the agency neither supports GE plants
based on their perceived benefits nor opposes them based on their perceived risks. FDA s priority is to
ensure that all foods, including those derived from GE

Effects Of Sexuality In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Side Effects of Sexuality Sexuality is not new; in fact, it is possibly the oldest existing
occurrences in human history. It even goes back to the days of 2700 B.C. and, though not given labels
and limitations, it definitely has an important presence in The Epic of Gilgamesh, written by
Anonymous. Yes, it is important. Three of the major game changing events in The Epic of Gilgamesh
involve sex, including the refusal of it. One involves using the act of sex to acclimate wild to
civilization. Another instance involves the rejection of sexual advances due to self dignity and growth,
and, despite it being a great morality move, how the one that was rejected can construe rejection. The
last involves how powerful a soul tie can become, especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A little background history: in Sumerian civilization, there is no morality linked with sexuality; it is
practically an honor to be a prostitute. This is due to the fact that this literary work is pre Biblically
written. In this setting, sexuality is merely that and everyone has the same freedom to operate,
sexually, as they please. The topics of infidelity, heterosexuality and homosexuality were null and
void. The literary work, When Heroes Love: The Ambiguity of Eros in the Stories of Gilgamesh and
David by Susan Ackerman showcases the possible erotic references of Enkidu and Gilgamesh s
steamy and complex relationship through wordplay. Some examples include the frequent description
of Gilgamesh and Enkidu as brothers ; the sexual nature of the wrestling account; Gilgamesh s
abnormal rejection to Ishtar s advances; the deathbed scene in which Enkidu is compared to a bride to
Gilgamesh; and, finally, Gilgamesh s mourn over his dead lover and friend. For Ackerman, based on
these definitive events, the presence of homoerotic overtones in some of the Epic s descriptions ...
seems indisputable. (Nissinen 307) In The Epic of Gilgamesh, what Aruru ordains as a rivalry ends in
friendship, companionship, and love. It is the battle between Gilgamesh and Enkidu that begins to
open his eyes to how he is portrayed in the text a power hungry and unruly womanizer. Mutually,
Enkidu gradually becomes more acclimated to the intricacies of being a human through his
interactions with Gilgamesh. They both develop together an unbreakable soul tie that takes them
through the battle with Humbaba, the forest ogre and the Bull of Heaven. Once Enkidu dies,
Gilgamesh becomes consumed with extreme grief for a period of time; it is equivalent to the emotions
of a man who lost his wife. Dually, the death of Enkidu serves as an incentive for Gilgamesh to start

How Effective Is The Youth Justice System Essay
Introduction
How effective is the Youth Justice System in responding to youth crime? Since the arrival of the Youth
Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) came into effect, the crime rates have decreased. Previously Canada had
one of the highest youth incarceration rates in the western world. However since the Youth Criminal
Justice Act got put into place in 2003, the crime rates have declined significantly. The Youth Justice
System does their best to better and rehabilitate the adolescents that get into trouble with the law. They
provide youth with rehabilitation programs, behavioral programs, and diversion programs. The
purpose of the Youth Justice System is to rehabilitate and make these teens positive members of
society. This paper argues that Youth Criminal Justice System is effective in responding to youth
crime. Specifically, this paper with discussing rehabilitation for young juvenile delinquents, downfalls
of stats and crime sentencing and a better lifestyle for the youth after juvenile detention. Therefore, the
Youth Justice System attempts to provide teens with a brighter future no matter what they are being
charged with.
Youth offenders is a person who has been convicted or cautioned for a criminal offense between the
ages 12 17. However. youth age 14 17 may be charged as an adult under certain circumstances. If the
person being charged is under the age of 12 the ministry of children and family development deals
with it. Prior to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)

Automatic Temperature Fan Speed Control
INTRODUCTION: This is a standard circuit which can be used to adjust the brightness of mains
lights and the speed of AC motors. It uses a triac, diac and has a radio frequency interference (RFI)
noise suppression circuit built into it as well. The circuit controls the average power to a load through
the triac by phase control. The AC supply is applied to the load for only a controlled fraction of each
cycle. The triac is held in an OFF condition for a portion of its cycle then is triggered ON at a time
determined by the circuit. Each time the triac is turned on, the load current changes very quickly a few
micro seconds from zero to a value determined by the lamp resistance and the value of the mains
voltage at that instant in time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this instant in time no current is flowing in either direction. This is the point at which a dimmer is
electronically synchronized to turn the power ON or OFF. By chopping the waveform at the zero
crossing point, smooth dimming can be achieved without the lamp flickering. This turning on and off
of the power device occurs every time the mains crossing point is reached (half phase), 100 or 120
times per second. Typically light dimmers are manufactured using a Triac or Thyristor as the power
control device. These electronic parts are semiconductors not dissimilar to transistors. A Thyristor is a
Uni. directional device and hence, because AC power flows in both directions, two are needed. A triac
is a bidirectional device and therefore only one is needed. An electronic circuit determines the point in
time at which they turn ON (conduct). The ON state continues until the next zero crossing point, at
which point the device turns itself OFF. The electronic circuit then provides a delay, which equates to
the dimness of the lamp, before turning the control device back on. The slight capacitance of the load,
filters the chopped waveform resulting in a smooth light output. Some controllers use a
microprocessor control with the above timing function being handled by an analogue circuit. More
sophisticated systems, called digital dimmers, operate the switching direct from microprocessor. This
has the advantage of greater reliability, quieter operation, lower cost and smaller

How Did Ancient Egyptomania Affect The Modern World
Egyptomania; the expression used to encompass the West s complete allure with the wonders and

acknowledgement of a civilization that produced a highly functioning society, government, economy,
art, and religion that permeates the world today, that contrasts with the engrained ethnocentricity of

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Adgural Address
John F. Kennedy s inaugural address was a carefully composed speech, that conveyed the primary
goals of the incoming president in a convincing way. It is important for the president to have a strong
inaugural address, because it informs the people of one s intentions as president. In order for President
Kennedy s address to be effective, he uses rhetorical strategies. Through the use of rhetorical
strategies, President Kennedy supports his objectives with reason and logic to appeal to the people s
desire for security and structure. He also alludes to his good character to make the people feel safe and
trust him to guide them. In the address, President Kennedy uses emotion to make a connection with
the people, this makes him seem more relatable and connected to the people. These are strategies used
in an attempt to persuade the audience to trust President Kennedy. In President Kennedy s inaugural
address, he convincingly conveys his message to his audience, through the use of rhetorical devices.
The use of anaphoras allow President Kennedy to stress his message by repeating a word at the
beginning of successive clauses. This helps to emphasize his point to the audience. For example,
President Kennedy uses an anaphora to express the importance of bringing both sides together, and
having them work together for the benefit of the country and its citizens. Let both sides explore what
problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us. Let both sides, for the first
time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms and bring the
absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations. Let both sides seek to
invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors (Address). Kennedy also starts a series of
paragraphs with To those. This allows Kennedy to personally address the people he will be working
with during his presidency, by making specific promises to them. It helps to create a personal bond
with citizens, and other countries. This is important because if people trust the President, the President
will be more likely to achieve his goals. As well as anaphoras, President Kennedy uses hyperphoria to
gain the trust

Assisted Reproduction Technologies Pros And Cons
As the years, have progressed, the sensation for science has increased, as well as the aspiration for
technology. Because of this, many new ideas and innovation have been brought to us, such as the
development of ART, Assisted Reproductive Technology. The use of Assisted Reproductive
Technologies has been brought to allow pregnancies to be effectuated when the natural way is not
option. The interest for unnatural pregnancy began in the early 1800s when John Hunter, a Scottish
surgeon inseminated a woman with her husband s sperm. Due to this incidence, later in the late 1800s,
the idea for sperm donation sprouted. From there on, the curiosity for other ways to succeed in
unnatural pregnancies devolved rapidly. One of these ways was the In Vitro ... Show more content on

Terrorism And Terrorism Attacks
Intro The United States has had its share of terror attacks, whether it was a major destruction, or
simpler destruction. On September 11th of 2001 (9/11), there was a major crisis after learning about
the terror attacks that happened on the World Trade Center in New York. That is one of the most
memorable terror attacks that took place in the Unites States. It was a series of terror attacks that took
place and the Pentagon was also targeted during this time. It was determined that Islamic nations were
targeting the United States to gain insight to their political views. The Islamic terrorist were so pressed
on getting their points across that they didn t care about the lives that stood in their way, including
their own. Thousands of people lost their lives in these two attacks alone and millions were affected.
Since then, terrorism has been a clear problem that has continued to show itself over time throughout
the United States. Terrorism is not limited to the United States, in fact, terrorism has been linked to
different areas of the world like Pakistan, Israel, Japan, and in the Philippines. Terrorism can be
anywhere from bombing, plane crashing, or just plain assassinating, as long as their means were to get
a message across. One example for an assassinating shooting is the Orlando shooting that took place
on June 12, 2016. The shooter was classified as just a gunman to some, but he was classified as a
terrorist to others because of the actions he chose to take. He

Analysis Of Night By Elie Wiesel And First They Killed My...
When a person recalls an emotional situation, it can be difficult for them to explain to others exactly
how they felt when the event occurred. Authors attempt to communicate these tough experiences using
a variety of literary devices which include symbolism, irony, and theme. Night by Elie Wiesel, and
First They Killed My Father by Loung Ung are two pieces of literature that recollect the memories of
the authors during traumatic events; Night is set during the Holocaust, while the latter is set in
Cambodia during the harsh rule of Pol Pot. The literary devices present in each text are utilized by
Wiesel and Ung in unique and similar ways to communicate the extent of what they felt . Both novels
utilized symbols in order to relay importance to the readers, particularly during the times when the
speakers viewed something horrific. In First They Killed My Father, Ung attempts to symbolize Pol
Pot, her father, and even the clothing of the Khmer Rouge. She almost describes Pol Pot as being a
supernatural all seeing eye type figure one she became set on trying to kill later on in the future as
vengeance. Her father represented the glue and power that held Loung s family together once he had
died, his children (Loung s brothers) had continued to try and fill in his shoes by providing food, while
Loung had continued to be inspired by him. The clothing of the Khmer Rouge became a symbol of the
regime, along with all the horror it had created. Indeed, Loung noticed that she could

Humanity Is The Principle Of Hasty Generalization

What does Davis mean by interpretive obedience in his essay, Professional Responsibility: Just
Following the Rules?
Interpretive obedience is what Davis believes to be the right way of following rules in professional
ethics. Therefore, if a person can understand how to follow rules, than it is the correct way to abide by
the rules. However, Davis emphasizes that if people follow rules blindly, then they will not see
anything but that, and people will then use rules as an excuse. Which is why Davis favors interpretive
obedience because in his essay he means interpretive obedience to be the understanding of the rule, a
person to know the justification of the rule, and to carry out the action that goes along with the
justification.

Analysis Of The Screwtape Letter
When I saw that The Screwtape Letters was assigned for my summer reading, I didn t think much of
it. I have never heard of this book, but from my knowledge regarding Bible Lit, I thought it would be a
religious novel. When I started reading, it wasn t anything I expected. In society, we, since we were
young, were taught that there is an opposite substance to each item. For example, day and night, on
and off, open and closed, and, in this case, good and bad. The words day, on, and open all have a
positive connotation while their opposites are seen as horrible adjectives. While reading The
Screwtape Letters, my thoughts surrounding good and bad evolved into an idea and not a set of words.

It changes the way how I look at each side of a situation. In today s society, no one talks about how
good the devil is or how evil God is. Instead, we are taught what is good and bad. The Screwtape

the evil to all the good work accomplished by the Devil. The role reversal made me realize that not
only are there two sides to every belief, but there is also no right or wrong answer. Each side has his or
her own belief and each person is entitled to believe in anything. In the eyes of Wormwood and

The Key Concepts Of Social Work In The Child Welfare System
The Child Welfare System The child welfare system is a complex system that requires a special skill
set for social workers. Among this set of skills includes sensitivity, compassion, mature judgment, and
an advanced knowledge of social work (Farley, Smith, Boyle, 2011). Since the child welfare system is
so diverse, social workers must work with four important elements, which are the family, the extended
family, the community, and a specialized team of family preservation specialists (Farley et al., 2011).
When working in the child welfare system, social workers must keep permanency and stability as the
primary objectives, no matter which division of social work he is working in (Farley et al., 2011). In
home care, foster care, adoption, and child protective services are the main divisions of the child
welfare system, and the social worker plays a critical role in each of these divisions, since each
division is related to the others in some capacity.
In Home Care In home care is one of the main divisions of social work, and it primarily entails
looking at the relationship between the child and his environment. Social workers involved in this
field often must interact with the parents, helping to teach them parenting and listening skills (Farley
et al., 2011). Often times, the social worker borrows principles from the cognitive behavioral therapy
and adopts a problem solving strategy when working with the family (Farley et al., 2011). If these
programs are performed effectively and efficiently, they help keep children with their biological
families, so they do not have to enter foster care, and programs that include IFPS are the most
effective in preventing out of home placements (Farley et al., 2011).
Foster Care Perhaps one of the most well known divisions of the child welfare system is foster care,
which is a type arrangement for children to live outside of their homes. Foster care typically is short
term, and it may result in the child returning to his parents to receive in home care, or the child may be
adopted (Farley et al., 2011). Unfortunately, many children in foster care have experienced some type
of trauma in addition to being removed from their home and their family (Kramer, Sigel,

Is The Moral Of The Last Battle Of Ottainawa By Robert Leckie
Robert Leckie s book, Okinawa: The Last Battle of World War II, is entirely about one of World War
II s most brutally fought battles. On April 1, 1945, the U.S. invaded Japan, attacking the island of
Okinawa with 540,000 U.S. Army and Marines, and 1,600 ships. L Day was the official name for this
day. The L stood for Landing, but the Americans who invaded the Hagushi Beaches that day without
any trouble from the Japanese, called it Love Day. This battle was the last battle of World War II and
lasted a whopping eighty three days. This invasion greatly outnumbered D Day in weapons and in
men.

you about the Americans, but showing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leckie does not describe individuals weighing their costs and benefits or the choice they decide to
make. He does a great job of descriptively covering the events of the Okinawa invasion and does not
tell the story from one particular point of view. However, I believe a better understanding of
economics could help make this book better.
One of the routes Leckie could have went about to describe if this battle was rational or not was to talk
about the length of the war. Was eighty three days of fighting rational? Most regular people would say
that this is not rational. Not only did thousands of men lose their lives, but all the weapons or ships
that were damaged or destroyed was very costly. Don t forget the opportunity cost of the income that
could have been earned in other lines of work. These are only a few of the costs that this battle
brought on for not only the Americans but the Japanese as well. On the other hand, the major benefit
from this battle was the fact that Okinawa would be an essential springboard to victory for the Allies.
From Okinawa, the Allies could attack the mainland by air or sea and ultimately win the war. These
eighty three days were necessary in order to strategically invade this island and eventually invade and
control Japan.
From an economic standpoint I believe that this battle was rational, and it needed to be fought in order
to end the entire war. Although the length of this battle was not ideal, it still needed to be fought in
order

Karesansui Gardens (dry garden) and Chaniwa Gardens (tea garden).

Elizibethan Religious Settlement Essay
Elizabethan Religious Settlement
The Elizabethan Religious Settlement was Elizabeth I s response to the religious divisions created
over the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI and Mary I. This response, described as The Revolution of
1559 ,[1] was set out in two Acts of the Parliament of England. The Act of Supremacy of 1559 re
established the Church of England s independence from Rome, with Parliament conferring on
Elizabeth the title Supreme Governor of the Church of England, while the Act of Uniformity of 1559
set out the form the English church would now take, including the establishment of the Book of
Common Prayer.

The Act of Uniformity 1558, which required the population to attend Sunday service in an Anglican
church, at which a new version of the Book of Common Prayer was to be used, passed by only three
votes.[5] The Bill of Uniformity was more cautious than the initial Reformation Bill. It revoked the
harsh laws proposed against Roman Catholics, it removed the abuse of the Pope from the litany and
kept the wording that allowed for both a subjective and objective belief in the Real Presence in the
Communion. After Parliament was dismissed, Elizabeth, along with Cecil, drafted what are known as
the Royal Injunctions, 1559. These were additions to the settlement and largely stressed some
continuity with the Catholic past: ministers were ordered to wear the surplice; wafers, as opposed to
ordinary baker s bread, were to be used as the bread at Communion. There had been opposition to the
settlement in the shires, which for the most part were largely Roman Catholic, so the changes are often
said to have been made in order to allow for acceptance of the

A vision statement is often broad, future looking, and acts as a strategic guiding tool for an
organization to strive for ultimate satisfaction of stakeholders. However, a mission statement is
alternatively more focused, looking to gain buy in for strategic purposes and culture building, an
internal stakeholder tool. A Project Management Office (PMO) should strive to ensure that
organizational goals align with both the mission and vision statement, helping them to easily identify
projects that are a good fit. Additionally, it is easier to unite a team when they are clear on the
objective from the start, and everyone is on the same page (Toledo, 2013).

Should The Glass Castle Be Banned In The Glass Castle
A growing problem in schools around the country is the topic of censoring books from children based
on parents and teachers beliefs on what s appropriate for students. There s no doubt in my mind that
The Glass Castle is filled with adult themes not primarily written for a younger audience. The Glass
Castle is a memoir written by Jeannette Walls life, largely her childhood with her parents and siblings,
and her breaking away from her parents to become a relatively successful adult. The novel contains
events of sexual assault and substance abuse, Jeannette s parents raise her and her siblings horribly
and there s plenty of violence scattered throughout the book Jeannette tries to shoot another child from
her school at one point. However, this doesn t mean this book should be banned from schools. This
book should be allowed to be read by at least high school students not only because of how well
written and a good read it is, but the various lessons about life it offers to the reader, largely through
Jeannette s father. I want to clarify that this book shouldn t be allowed in somewhere like an
elementary school s library; this book is more fitting for an older, more mature audience. My brother
however, who s in middle school, is a better example of the younger end that could reasonably
understand this book. He s 12 years old on the verge of 13, and after reading The Glass Castle he

Carl Gustav s Collective Unconscious
The Swiss physician and psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung, lived from 1875 to 1961. Jung corresponded
frequently with Sigmund Freud and based much of his early work upon Freud s ideas. However, Jung
s theories diverged from Freud s ideas in 1913 and he pioneered a new field called analytical
psychology (Young Eisendrath). Jung s work in psychology led him to become referred to as the
Darwin of the Mind (Ritvo). Jung believed in a collective unconscious, which he defined as an
inherited knowledge shared by all humans in their subconscious. Jung s work in analytical psychology
extensively analyzed myth s roles in psychology. Jung believed that the universal collective
unconscious could explain the similarities amongst the myths of disparate cultures. He noted that
myths arose autochthonously in every corner of the earth and yet [myths] are identical, due to the
collective unconscious (Segal 12). Jung hypothesized that the collective unconscious could explain
similarities that exist in the myths of disparate and geographically separate cultures. Jung defined the
contents and modes of behavior that continually reoccur in myths as archetypes (Jung 20). He so
extensively used myths to provide evidence for his theory that Jung referred to mythology as the
textbook of the archetypes (Walker 17). Specific archetypes repeat in mythological stories. For
example, I have found Jung s archetype of wise old man in many figures like Gandalf and

The Pros And Cons Of Divine Laws
Divine laws are negative in nature. Most of God s commands commence with Thou Shalt Not! For
instance like Thou shall not steal . As laid down in the bible it stated repeatedly that Heavenly Father
knows everything about us even numbering the hairs on our head and He cares for us in the most
intimate way: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want , says the bible. If our Father commands us
not to steal, the implication is obvious. It is as if He says: My child, you have no need whatsoever to
take anything that is not yours. I have made you just the way you are. I have given you everything
necessary for your life. Live, learn, grow, strive and reach for the gold but never reach for what is not
your own ! Where as for man made laws, they are positive in nature. For example government
declares, Thou shalt with fines attached to increase government s scope of power. One good
illustration to this example can be seen under Section 379 of the Malaysian Penal Code whereby it
stated that Whoever commits theft shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend
to seven years or with fine or with both, and for a second or subsequent offence shall be punished with

Katherine Beattie s Weekend, By Ann Beattie
Exceptional artists often create in a way that allows for infinite interpretations of their work. However,
it is the author s job to immerse their readers into the storyline as they grasp an understanding of the
overall mood and feeling of the story. Some may argue that patterns within a work may be merely
coincidental, but in Ann Beattie s Weekend, the repeated mentioning of weather patterns and the
fireplace are used in order to portray a certain mood throughout the story. These patterns allow the
reader to deeply connect with the character s emotions and understand the ambiance without the
narrator directly stating how the character is feeling. In Weekend, Ann Beattie s intentional use of
outside forces such as the rain, the temperature, and the presence of fire allows the reader to develop a
deeper understanding concerning the ongoing tensions and emotions in the atmosphere throughout the
entire story. For the duration of the story, the rain is mentioned constantly as the mood shifts according
to its presence or absence. Whenever it rains, Lenore seems to gain clarity regarding her toxic
relationship with her husband; whereas in the absence of rain, everyone shifts into a state of oblivion
as they pretend these immoral incidents between George and his lover, Sarah, are not occurring. As

Why The Bailout Plan Has To Be Passed And Its Adjustments...
It is necessary to pass the bailout plan in order to help and stimulate the economy. Not only will it
have an impact on the American economy but on global markets as well. Instead of focusing on
bailing out failed companies, the plan should center more on homeowners and help them to pay off
their debts. By doing this, the bill would help homeowners as well as companies who are in possession
of these kinds of troubled assets. Politicians should be less focused on their reelection and more

This way the government will collect most of its $700 billion investment back. In addition, not all
assets will be purchased. As an alternative, some companies could choose to purchase insurance
instead. However, the bailout plan as of today needs some modifications. Instead of only
concentrating on buying bad assets from financial institutions and banks, it should pay more attention
to homeowners. The assets that the government plans on buying are mostly impaired mortgages
related assets that have fallen because of the housing sector and knocked holes in firms balance sheets.
Therefore, if focused on homeowners, this problem can be dealt with from the beginning. It will
reinstate up to 80% of the $500 billion already written off by Wall Street as toxic loans. This way, the
government will put in $500 billion and instantly get back the $500 billion. It will also refinance
100% of loans, thereby giving banks 100% of value on corresponding securities instead of the 30% to
50% if securities would be sold to the government. Furthermore, refinancing homeowners will
stabilize the entire real estate market and create a 30% to 70% greater monetary return since taxpayers
now own these mortgages. Homeowner loans should be refinanced through the Hope of
Homeownership program, due to start in October of this year. Property holders who cannot meet their
current mortgage terms will be able to modify their loans into more affordable fixed rate loans.

Introduction Urie Bronfenbrenner was a Russian born American psychologist and is best known for
his ecological system in the development of a child where he defines the four concentric systems that
are the micro , the meso , the exo and the macrosystems. He later added a time related fifth system, the
chronosystem. Bronfenbrenner is revered as one of the leading world authorities in the field of

theory and a few examples. Microsystems This is the layer closest to the child, which they have direct
contact with. The microsystem encompasses the relationships and interactions a child has with her
immediate surroundings (Berk, 2000). The structures that is included in this system includes the
family members, school or childcare and community environment. This is the system that shapes the
individual in terms of their moral, social, emotional and spiritual development. The parents may

children. His father, Josiah Franklin, was a soap maker, and his mother, Abiah Folger was Josiah s
second wife. Franklin s father proposed that his son would undergo the job of being a clergyman, but
unfortunately, he could not afford the expenses of the schooling. As twelve year old Franklin lived ...

The letters would be filled with advice and critical words about the world around her and how women
were treated. When he was done writing the letters, he would put them under the print shop door and
they all became smash hits and everyone was raving to know who the real Silence Dogood was. After
writing sixteen of these letters, Franklin confessed that he was the mysterious one and only Dogood.
After that, James brother was thrown into jail for making fun of a clergy and Ben was left with the
print shop and taking care of the issues. When Ben s brother James got out of jail, he couldn t stand
the fact of Ben taking over the store and would beat him from time to time. Ben got tired of it and ran
away to Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, young Ben became an apprentice and wrote articles such as The

Persuasive Speech For Binge Drinking
Introduction: In the United States more than 1,800 college students have lost their lives from alcohol
related causes. These numbers have seen a steady increase since the year of 1998. Drinking while at
college has become a part of the college culture. Student see this as a part of the higher education
experience. A lot of college alcohol problems are linked to binge drinking. Binge drinking cause a
huge concerns and poses serious health and safety risks which often includes sexual assault, drunk
driving arrests, car crashes and injuries. Researchers are finding ways to improve college student s
alcohol consumptions issues. A way, I feel can help solve this problem is by having students download
IntelliDrink application on their phones. IntelliDrink helps people monitor blood alcohol
concentration levels and also tell you what time blood levels goes down so that they person may be
able to drive. We are all college students who may encounter people who have been really drunk. After
doing extensive research, I want to prove why InteliDrink is a good resolution.
Thesis: IntelliDrink is the great solution to college student s alcohol consumptions problems because it
will provide college student with accurate blood alcohol content that will make them aware of how
much they have been drinking and prevent them from drinking and driving and other safety risk.
Preview: In my speech today, I will discuss the problem of binge drinking amongst college students. I

Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy Rates
Studies show that black and Latina girls have that highest teenage pregnancy rate compared to other
races of girls. Black and Latina girls are more than twice as likely as white or indian girls to become
pregnant before they leave adolescence. While dramatic declines among Hispanic and black teens (51
percent and 44 percent, respectively) have helped reduce gaps, birth rates remain twice as high for
these teens nationally compared with white teens .It varies all across the U.S. and even county by
county, the team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the reasons are sadly familiar:
high unemployment rates, parents who have less education, and high poverty levels . Black and
Hispanic girls are prone to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the core of the debate is one unmistakable fact; people really don t have to get pregnant Out of
wedlock births really are a matter of choice, a lack of foresight, and sheer irresponsibility. There were
614,000 pregnancies among 15 to 19 year old women in the United States in 2010, or about 57
pregnancies per 1,000 women in that age group, according to a new study by the Guttmacher Institute.
That s a 51 percent decline from the peak rate in 1990, and a 15 percent decline from the 2008 rate,
when there were about 68 pregnancies per 1,000 women in that age group. Among the states, New
Mexico had the highest teen pregnancy rate, in 2010, with 80 pregnancies per 1,000 women in the age
group, followed by Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. New Hampshire had the
lowest rate, with 28 pregnancies per 1,000, followed by New Hampshire, Vermont, Minnesota,
Massachusetts and Maine. [See List of State by State Teen Pregnancy Rankings]The teen birth rate
also declined noticeably, to 34.4 births per 1,000 teens, a 44 percent drop from its peak in 1991, when
it was 61.8 births per 1,000. Yes the teenage pregnancy is dropping but blacks and latinas still have the
highest rate these are not stereotypes this proven information. Some may argue that the government
has nothing to do with the teenage pregnancy

Environmental Benefits Of Green Roofs
Introduction
There are several ecological and environmental benefits of green roofs which have consequentially
brought in increasing interests in this technology. A green roof, as a carpeting of plants on the roof of
buildings, offers many benefits in addition to enhancing its aesthetic value. Primarily, green roofs have
the ability to delay the storm runoff peak occurrence, thus reducing the peak flow rate and mitigating
flood risks. Another benefit is its thermal insulation potential that reduces the urban heat island effect.
They also help with pollution abatement, carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, and general
improvement of life quality in urban ecosystems (Xiaosheng et al. 2014).
Green roofs generally consist of a rather simple layering covering the rooftop, including a waterproof
layer, a water retention layer and a drainage/filter layer topped with substrate with different depths
according to both maximum load capacity of the roof and vegetation type to be grown (Nardini et al.
2012). However, while there has not so much attention about the relative importance of vegetation
structure and composition in determining the ecosystem and technical functions of green roofs, in the
last years, a number of studies have reported significant impacts of vegetation type on stormwater
runoff management (VanWoert et al. 2005).
In this paper, I aim to review existing research literature and summarize the process and importance of
vegetation selection criteria for

Introduction: Islam is one of the Universal religions of the world. As a religion, Islam is governed by an assortment of divine laws known as shariah of which its sources are mainly attributed to the divine revelations in the Holy Qur an and traditions of the Prophet (P.B.U.H). The Local courts were confined to Africans and administered customary criminal and civil law and a limited number of statutory laws. Another development was witnessed in 1958 when urban courts were established by the Liwalis (Functions and Powers) Ordinance, Cap.408.Liwali courts were presided over by magistrates employed by the Government under the title of liwalis who also exercised executive functions within their own urban area. Although the British colonial state gave recognition to the indigenous judicial institutions under native law and custom, it however, permitted customary criminal law to be applied by the Native subordinate courts but not the Islamic criminal law. The turning point for the administration of justice in Tanganyika was in 1920, when the British colonizers officially imported and imposed an alien legal system. This was done through the Tanganyika Order in Council 1920.According to this order , courts were to apply native law subject to the English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Namesake By Jhumpa Lahiri Cultural Identity Cultural Identity is the framework that shapes who one is, as a person. It helps one to sustain self identity and belonging anywhere in society. Although it might be transformed over time, it is the way people undergo adversity. This sense of cultural identity is portrayed through the character, Ashima Ganguli, who was ordained to reshape her identity when she migrated to America with her husband, Ashoke. This move to America specifically Boston, allowed Ashima to be faced with tribulations within herself. Ashima is characterized as a hesitant migrant who did not understand how to deal with her situation (Lahiri Roy). • 5. The Contribution To The Rise Of Capitalism In Medieval Europe Feudalism is a system of social order that was dominate in what was medieval Europe. With this social order, it provoked authority over its inhabitants. Nobility was in direct control of land masses from the crown. What was given back was the loyalty to serve the military when needed. Vassals were tenants of nobles, and peasants were to live on the land. Give what they produce as taxes for military protection. This act of social order was used from about 300 to 1400 AD. Capitalism, at this stage, was just beginning to develop and become something meaningful to the continent. There was a lot wrong with Feudalism at that time, just like everything has their pros and cons, but feudalism had collapsed and made way to the concept of Capitalism. The articles, however, may vary from researcher to researcher. As such, this paper will also detail the different theories about the usefulness of dreams. This paper will also take time to explain what a dream is, when dreams happen, and what their potential purposes may be. To start this paper, we first must understand what a dream is. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a dream is a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep . Dreams take the things we see during our waking hours and translate them into unique, sometimes horrifying, and possibly meaningful ways. Dreams could also be representations of subconscious feelings and desires, bubbling up from deep within our psyche. However, the actual purpose of dreams remains a mystery, even to today s foremost experts on this subject. Sigmund Freud attempted to understand what dreams meant; he thought that dreams were safeguards attempt deeper and darker desires from the human mind s id. Decades later, scientist John Allan Hobson theorized that dreams are a result of the brain attempting to interpret random electrical impulses within the brain, producing often elaborate and vivid details and plots while we sleep. Other research suggests that dreams are the brain s unique way of organizing disparate information; a kind of nightly mental reformatting. The average Joe takes a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Role of Labor in American History This brief history of more than 100 years of the modern trade union movement in the United States can only touch the high spots of activity and identify the principal trends of a century of achievement. In such a condensation of history, episodes of importance and of great human drama must necessarily be discussed far too briefly, or in some cases relegated to a mere mention. What is clearly evident, however, is that the working people of America have had to unite in struggle to achieve the gains that they have accumulated during this century. Improvements did not come easily. Organizing unions, winning the right to representation, using the collective bargaining process as the core of their activities, struggling against bias and ... Protons, Neutrons, and electrons are not balls of matter, but more like little concentrations of energy. According to the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, if we look at or measure the position of an electron, then other crucial information about it is lost. Also, at the moment we observe it, it basically gives that electron a position and identity in the realm of the natural (Berge). In other words, our observations can alter the experiment and aid the changes as they explain the results. Quantum mechanics is just as scientifically provable as Newton physics, but makes less sense to our intuitive rational minds. (Ford). In science, things we perceive as particles sometimes act like waves. In return, things we view as waves sometimes act like particles. For example, when people consider electrons and light, they determine electrons as particles and light as waves. Although this is accurate, under some circumstances electrons act as a wave or light acts as a particle. In an experiment, if you take light and shine it on two slits that are close together, each slit acts like it admits its own beam of light. If a screen is behind it you will see a pattern of dark spots and light spots. You can predict this based on the fact that light is a wave. If you take the light away and do the same thing with a beam of electrons, they do the same thing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It uses a triac, diac and has a radio frequency interference (RFI) noise suppression circuit built into it as well. The circuit controls the average power to a load through the triac by phase control. The AC supply is applied to the load for only a controlled fraction of each cycle. The triac is held in an OFF condition for a portion of its cycle then is triggered ON at a time determined by the circuit. Each time the triac is turned on, the load current changes very quickly a few micro seconds from zero to a value determined by the lamp resistance and the value of the mains voltage at that instant in time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this instant in time no current is flowing in either direction. This is the point at which a dimmer is electronically synchronized to turn the power ON or OFF. By chopping the waveform at the zero crossing point, smooth dimming can be achieved without the lamp flickering. This turning on and off of the power device occurs every time the mains crossing point is reached (half phase), 100 or 120 times per second. Typically light dimmers are manufactured using a Triac or Thyristor as the power control device. These electronic parts are semiconductors not dissimilar to transistors. A Thyristor is a Uni. directional device and hence, because AC power flows in both directions, two are needed. A triac is a bidirectional device and therefore only one is needed. An electronic circuit determines the point in time at which they turn ON (conduct). The ON state continues until the next zero crossing point, at which point the device turns itself OFF. The electronic circuit then provides a delay, which equates to the dimness of the lamp, before turning the control device back on. The slight capacitance of the load, filters the chopped waveform resulting in a smooth light output. Some controllers use a microprocessor control with the above timing function being handled by an analogue circuit. More sophisticated systems, called digital dimmers, operate the switching direct from microprocessor. This has the advantage of greater reliability, quieter operation, lower cost and smaller ... Kennedy s inaugural address was a carefully composed speech, that conveyed the primary goals of the incoming president in a convincing way. It is important for the president to have a strong inaugural address, because it informs the people of one s intentions as president. In order for President Kennedy s address to be effective, he uses rhetorical strategies. Through the use of rhetorical strategies, President Kennedy supports his objectives with reason and logic to appeal to the people s desire for security and structure. He also alludes to his good character to make the people feel safe and trust him to guide them. In the address, President Kennedy uses emotion to make a connection with the people, this makes him seem more relatable and connected to the people. These are strategies used in an attempt to persuade the audience to trust President Kennedy. In President Kennedy s inaugural address, he convincingly conveys his message to his audience, through the use of rhetorical devices. The use of anaphoras allow President Kennedy to stress his message by repeating a word at the beginning of successive clauses. This helps to emphasize his point to the audience. For example, President Kennedy uses an anaphora to express the importance of bringing both sides together, and having them work together for the benefit of the country and its citizens. Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us. Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations. Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors (Address). Kennedy also starts a series of paragraphs with To those. This allows Kennedy to personally address the people he will be working with during his presidency, by making specific promises to them. Night by Elie Wiesel, and First They Killed My Father by Loung Ung are two pieces of literature that recollect the memories of the authors during traumatic events; Night is set during the Holocaust, while the latter is set in Cambodia during the harsh rule of Pol Pot. The literary devices present in each text are utilized by Wiesel and Ung in unique and similar ways to communicate the extent of what they felt . Both novels utilized symbols in order to relay importance to the readers, particularly during the times when the speakers viewed something horrific. In First They Killed My Father, Ung attempts to symbolize Pol Pot, her father, and even the clothing of the Khmer Rouge. She almost describes Pol Pot as being a supernatural all seeing eye type figure one she became set on trying to kill later on in the future as vengeance. Her father represented the glue and power that held Loung s family together once he had died, his children (Loung s brothers) had continued to try and fill in his shoes by providing food, while Loung had continued to be inspired by him. The clothing of the Khmer Rouge became a symbol of the regime, along with all the horror it had created. Indeed, Loung noticed that she could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interpretive obedience is what Davis believes to be the right way of following rules in professional ethics. Therefore, if a person can understand how to follow rules, than it is the correct way to abide by the rules. However, Davis emphasizes that if people follow rules blindly, then they will not see anything but that, and people will then use rules as an excuse. • 25. Analysis Of The Screwtape Letter When I saw that The Screwtape Letters was assigned for my summer reading, I didn t think much of it. I have never heard of this book, but from my knowledge regarding Bible Lit, I thought it would be a religious novel. When I started reading, it wasn t anything I expected. In society, we, since we were young, were taught that there is an opposite substance to each item. For example, day and night, on and off, open and closed, and, in this case, good and bad. The words day, on, and open all have a positive connotation while their opposites are seen as horrible adjectives. While reading The Screwtape Letters, my thoughts surrounding good and bad evolved into an idea and not a set of words. Each side has its own ideals with reasoning behind it. The role reversal made me realize that not only are there two sides to every belief, but there is also no right or wrong answer. Each side has his or her own belief and each person is entitled to believe in anything. In the eyes of Wormwood and Screwtape, Christianity is the death of all. • 26. The Key Concepts Of Social Work In The Child Welfare System The Child Welfare System The child welfare system is a complex system that requires a special skill set for social workers. Among this set of skills includes sensitivity, compassion, mature judgment, and an advanced knowledge of social work (Farley, Smith, Boyle, 2011). Since the child welfare system is so diverse, social workers must work with four important elements, which are the family, the extended family, the community, and a specialized team of family preservation specialists (Farley et al., 2011). When working in the child welfare system, social workers must keep permanency and stability as the primary objectives, no matter which division of social work he is working in (Farley et al., 2011). In home care, foster care, adoption, and child protective services are the main divisions of the child welfare system, and the social worker plays a critical role in each of these divisions, since each division is related to the others in some capacity. In Home Care In home care is one of the main divisions of social work, and it primarily entails looking at the relationship between the child and his environment. Social workers involved in this field often must interact with the parents, helping to teach them parenting and listening skills (Farley et al., 2011). Often times, the social worker borrows principles from the cognitive behavioral therapy and adopts a problem solving strategy when working with the family (Farley et al., 2011). If these programs are performed effectively and efficiently, they help keep children with their biological families, so they do not have to enter foster care, and programs that include IFPS are the most effective in preventing out of home placements (Farley et al., 2011). Foster Care Perhaps one of the most well known divisions of the child welfare system is foster care, which is a type arrangement for children to live outside of their homes. Foster care typically is short term, and it may result in the child returning to his parents to receive in home care, or the child may be adopted (Farley et al., 2011). Unfortunately, many children in foster care have experienced some type of trauma in addition to being removed from their home and their family (Kramer, Sigel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is The Moral Of The Last Battle Of Ottainawa By Robert Leckie Robert Leckie s book, Okinawa: The Last Battle of World War II, is entirely about one of World War II s most brutally fought battles. On April 1, 1945, the U.S. invaded Japan, attacking the island of Okinawa with 540,000 U.S. Army and Marines, and 1,600 ships. L Day was the official name for this day. One of the routes Leckie could have went about to describe if this battle was rational or not was to talk about the length of the war. Was eighty three days of fighting rational? Most regular people would say that this is not rational. Not only did thousands of men lose their lives, but all the weapons or ships that were damaged or destroyed was very costly. Don t forget the opportunity cost of the income that could have been earned in other lines of work. These are only a few of the costs that this battle brought on for not only the Americans but the Japanese as well. On the other hand, the major benefit from this battle was the fact that Okinawa would be an essential springboard to victory for the Allies. From Okinawa, the Allies could attack the mainland by air or sea and ultimately win the war. These eighty three days were necessary in order to strategically invade this island and eventually invade and control Japan. The Act of Supremacy of 1559 re established the Church of England s independence from Rome, with Parliament conferring on Elizabeth the title Supreme Governor of the Church of England, while the Act of Uniformity of 1559 set out the form the English church would now take, including the establishment of the Book of Common Prayer. It revoked the harsh laws proposed against Roman Catholics, it removed the abuse of the Pope from the litany and kept the wording that allowed for both a subjective and objective belief in the Real Presence in the Communion. After Parliament was dismissed, Elizabeth, along with Cecil, drafted what are known as the Royal Injunctions, 1559. These were additions to the settlement and largely stressed some continuity with the Catholic past: ministers were ordered to wear the surplice; wafers, as opposed to ordinary baker s bread, were to be used as the bread at Communion. Should The Glass Castle Be Banned In The Glass Castle A growing problem in schools around the country is the topic of censoring books from children based on parents and teachers beliefs on what s appropriate for students. The Glass Castle is a memoir written by Jeannette Walls life, largely her childhood with her parents and siblings, and her breaking away from her parents to become a relatively successful adult. However, Jung s theories diverged from Freud s ideas in 1913 and he pioneered a new field called analytical psychology (Young Eisendrath). Jung s work in psychology led him to become referred to as the Darwin of the Mind (Ritvo). Jung believed in a collective unconscious, which he defined as an inherited knowledge shared by all humans in their subconscious. Jung s work in analytical psychology extensively analyzed myth s roles in psychology. Jung believed that the universal collective unconscious could explain the similarities amongst the myths of disparate cultures. He noted that myths arose autochthonously in every corner of the earth and yet [myths] are identical, due to the collective unconscious (Segal 12). Jung hypothesized that the collective unconscious could explain similarities that exist in the myths of disparate and geographically separate cultures. Jung defined the contents and modes of behavior that continually reoccur in myths as archetypes (Jung 20). He so extensively used myths to provide evidence for his theory that Jung referred to mythology as the textbook of the archetypes (Walker 17). Specific archetypes repeat in mythological stories. As laid down in the bible it stated repeatedly that Heavenly Father knows everything about us even numbering the hairs on our head and He cares for us in the most intimate way: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want , says the bible. One good illustration to this example can be seen under Section 379 of the Malaysian Penal Code whereby it stated that Whoever commits theft shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years or with fine or with both, and for a second or subsequent offence shall be punished with imprisonment and shall also be liable to fine or to whipping. [See List of State by State Teen Pregnancy Rankings]The teen birth rate also declined noticeably, to 34.4 births per 1,000 teens, a 44 percent drop from its peak in 1991, when it was 61.8 births per 1,000. Yes the teenage pregnancy is dropping but blacks and latinas still have the highest rate these are not stereotypes this proven information. Some may argue that the government has nothing to do with the teenage pregnancy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Environmental Benefits Of Green Roofs Introduction There are several ecological and environmental benefits of green roofs which have consequentially brought in increasing interests in this technology. A green roof, as a carpeting of plants on the roof of buildings, offers many benefits in addition to enhancing its aesthetic value. Primarily, green roofs have the ability to delay the storm runoff peak occurrence, thus reducing the peak flow rate and mitigating flood risks. Another benefit is its thermal insulation potential that reduces the urban heat island effect. They also help with pollution abatement, carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, and general improvement of life quality in urban ecosystems (Xiaosheng et al. 2014). Green roofs generally consist of a rather simple layering covering the rooftop, including a waterproof layer, a water retention layer and a drainage/filter layer topped with substrate with different depths according to both maximum load capacity of the roof and vegetation type to be grown (Nardini et al. 2012). However, while there has not so much attention about the relative importance of vegetation structure and composition in determining the ecosystem and technical functions of green roofs, in the last years, a number of studies have reported significant impacts of vegetation type on stormwater runoff management (VanWoert et al. 2005). In this paper, I aim to review existing research literature and summarize the process and importance of vegetation selection criteria for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
