Freedom From Fear Book Report
David Kennedy s book Freedom from Fear: The American People in Depression and War 1929 1945
shines light on the financial impacts that hit the country during the Great Depression and World War 2.
This book shares how some people assumed that Franklyn D Roosevelt was a successor in getting
things moving to a better economy but if it wasn t for Hoover things may have been worse, or that s
what I took from it. Kennedy starts off the book with talking about the end of World War 1 and how
the Great Depression started with the treaty of Versailles because it had led men of World War 2 to
believe that they could be better leaders of their country. A prime example would be Hitler who
believed that Jewish people were the reason Germany failed and this led to him rising to power. ...

People had no care for saving or cautious behavior with money. But when the stock market crashed
consumers and businesses had little trust. Although the stock market crash has not been directly
connected with the start of the Great Depression it did scare so many people that they ran to banks to
withdraw what money they had left only to have banks soon fail. Banks had a major crisis at hand
because they money they loaned out went into buying stocks. This crash had caused the banks to fail
when people couldn t keep up with their payments. Hoover had tried to help cushion the blow. He had
tried to get business leaders to hold wages at a certain prices. He had also got the Federal Reserve
involved by making open market purchases. He even tried to help those who were unemployed by
stimulating construction work. This was the best he could do with the help he had. But obviously
business leaders were more concerned with profit than wages because they were quick to cut wages
down. Unemployment were reaching levels that were hard to match with work that the president was
creating out of

Television and Crude Language
Why is crude language used in television? Some people think that the crude language used in
television serves no purpose and shows that a program was made by a bunch of idiots, intellectually,
who cannot think of anything intelligent to say. On the other side of the spectrum, people could argue
that vulgar language in movies or television serves as a way to make fun or to interpret stupidity in our
society. In the comedic movie South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, the main characters, Stan, Kyle,
Cartman, and Kenny sneak into an R rated animated musical called Terrance and Phillip Asses of Fire
, which uses a high volume of crude language. This movie was so terrible that everybody in the movie
theatre left, while the only people that stayed through the whole film were Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and
Kenny. After the movie, the boys were using all the crude language that they had learned from the
movie Terrance and Phillip. The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, use crude
language throughout their episodes to represent the social issues in America. The creators use the
crude language to cause attention, to practice their freedom of speech in America, and to rebel against
censorship in television which contributes to the success of this program. South Park discusses issues
prevalent in today s society and encourages people to practice their freedom of speech, which is why
this program should be watched by more people. South Park is a very successful television

The Silence Of The Lambs Analysis
The Silence of the Lambs directed by Jonathan Demme in 1991 is said to be the best Crime, Drama,
Thrillers.. all in one. The movie The Silence of the Lambs that won the Best Picture Oscar for my
year(1991) clearly adheres to and reflects the influence of Hero s Journey story structure from Acts
one, two, and three throughout the whole movie by using Call To Adventure, Crossing the threshold,
Tests, Enemies and Allies, Ordeal , and Return With The Elixir. The main Character Clarice is
assigned to work on a case where she must interview Dr. Lecter (Hannibal the Cannibal ) who is
known as one of the most frightening serial killers of all time to aid her and give her clues to in order
to figure out the cause behind Buffalo Bills Murders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Approach to Inmost Cave is showing when Clarice reveals her past when she was orphaned on a
farm at a young age and was frightened by the slaughtering of the lambs and ran away. The director
added this because it reveals the title of the story The Silence of the Lambs relates to her at a young
age witnessing the Lambs being slaughtered and this allows for Clarice to choose to silence her pain
that haunts her. Leading into the Ordeal where Clarice accidentally ends up at Buffalo Bill s House!
Crawford sent her away from where they thought he was but ended up being where Clarice went
where Catherine Martin was being held by Buffalo Bill. She is forced to chase Buffalo Bill into his
lair where he then forces her to find her way through the dark while he uses his night vision goggles to
follow her. Before Buffalo Bill can hurt her, he is shot and killed in the dark by Clarice. Clarice then
reaches the Reward (Seizing The Sword) stage of act two where she rescues Catherine Martin and the
dog making her a hero all on her own and finally respected by her other colleagues and superiors.
Lastly act three after her great success we run into The Road Back where Clarice is at the FBI
academy for her graduation where she runs into Jack Crawford who congratulates her on her case.
Now she has proven herself worth in the Bureau and did more than Crawford though she was capable

Tempuling Speech
The stanza above demonstrates that tempuling is the icon of Malay enthusiasm facing God s ordeal.
The fact that tempuling is stranded, leaves sense that humans struggle in challenging the sea is
actually beated by the storm. The power of nature, that is the hurricane, has somewhat impeded human
s effort in life. However, in the other side, it does not hinder Malay people s enthusiasm in struggling
the life they have been through. Never give up enthusiasm has become a strong foundation for Malay
as pictured in the following stanza:
The stanza above highlights about the prodigious eagerness of Malay society. Hence, they cannot give
up. Malay people never show the signs of surrender and do not want to compromise with fate. For
them, life is a never ending struggle. Natural phenomenon like waves and hurricanes will never

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ( Dmd )
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Genetic Disorder
Introduction to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is one of many types of muscular dystrophy disorders, which
affect the muscle fibers. It is the most aggressive form of muscular dystrophy. The muscle fibers
gradually become weaker and incapacitate the affected individual. DMD is a recessive, fatal, X linked
disorder occurring at a frequency of about 1 in 3,500 new born males (NCBI, 2014). Males are more
susceptible to inherit this disorder because DMD is passed on through the X chromosome. Women can
be carriers of the disorder without any adverse affects. The female carrier has a 50% chance of passing
on this trait to an offspring. It is extremely rare that a female will have DMD. Symptoms of this
disorder include muscle weakness that starts at the legs and progresses at a fast rate though out the
body. The rapid progression of muscular dystrophy means that the inflicted individual will eventually
be confined to a wheelchair in their life time. Wheelchair dependency had a median age of 10 years
(OMIM, 2013). Other symptoms include degraded motor skills as well as learning disabilities. As
muscle mass diminishes the individual suffers from heart and lung complications eventually leading to
the persons death. Death occurred at a median age of 17 years (OMIM, 2013). The X linked inherited
disease is cased by a mutation in the DNA segment of the X chromosome in the DMD (P11532) gene.

Don Quixote Belonging
The Ingenious Gentleman, Don Quixote de la Mancha was written by Miguel de Cervantes in 1605.
He was eighty five years old. The book quickly gained esteem, and as Cervantes jokingly predicted in
Part II Chapter III, In short, I feel certain that there will soon not be a nation that does not know it or a
language into which it has not been translated. Since Cervantes died within six months of the
completion of his novel, he didn t get to see his prediction come to fruition in his lifetime, though
recently The Guardian reported that Don Quixote has been voted the best novel of all time in a poll of

Roles Of Public And Public Policy
Roles of Public Administrators in the Policy Process The formulation and implementation of public
policy benefit the public. Therefore, public policy is a framework whereby the government pursues its
action plan. Moreover, it is a course of action aimed at responding to a problem and achieving a goal.
Consequently, the formulation of a policy adheres to a particular political process, and it is enforced
and implemented by a public agency. As stated, public policy affects the public, meaning that it has an
effect on the people and how they live. Subsequently, public policy should cover the needs of the
people and enhance their lives. Not all the people can participate in the policy process, and as a result,
those professions that have a direct interaction with the public can play a big role in representing it in
the policy process. Thus, public administrators are best suited to represent the public in the policy
process because they understand needs of the public, the policy process, and where and when they can
influence this process.
Policy Design Public administrators should understand that in a bureaucratic system, they are essential
for good governance. Thus, they are in a position to represent the public and its needs to the
government (Warner, 2001). As stated earlier, the role of policies is to provide a framework for solving
problems. Therefore, from a general perspective, the analytic work in problem solving moves toward a
certain direction, thus from the

Explain why opposition to Russian Governments was so...
Explain why opposition to Russian Governments was so rarely successful in the period 1855 1954?
Throughout the period 1855 to 1954, opposition to Russian governments was a common occurrence
due to dissatisfaction of many civilians lives and the lack of development seen throughout Russia.
However, as much as there were some successful movements throughout 1905 such as the Bolsheviks
gaining support and eventually gaining power, there were also several failed attempts due to intense
use of violence, terror and censorship by the state. It is arguable that whether opposition was
successful, merely came down to the strength of the opposition group or the weakness of the
government in power. All state leaders across the whole period held ... Show more content on

During that time, the populist movement in 1874 76 Going to the people failed as villages as the
peasants saw the middle class as outsiders, showing the vast gulf between the intelligentsia and the

Land and Liberty in 1876, using terrorism and organising the assassinations of leading figures. Lenin

The Electric Guitar In The 1920 s
Music reflects the cultural trends and artistic inspiration of that current time. Because of how rapidly
changing society is, music has shifted through different stages quickly and thus has had the need for
innovation. The electric guitar was born out of necessity to keep up with the musical trends of the
1920 s and has since been a powerful influence in driving the music we have today. Contemporary
music has been strongly influenced by the Electric Guitar. It is staple instrument that is used in nearly
every genre and within every time period of the last century. Arguably, the Fender Stratocaster has
solidified its legacy as the most iconic instrument in contemporary music. In this paper, I will argue
that the success of the Electric Guitar was driven by technological, economical, and cultural
movements of the 20th century. . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the early 1800 s Madrid was a thriving artistic centre which a huge emphasis on the arts. The
guitar was meant to be used as a tool for serious composers, Many notable composers such as
Ferandiere, Moretti, and Abreu were making music reflective of the political turmoil that was
happening in Europe at the time (Tyler 330). The modern guitar can be divided into the components of
the strings, the soundboard, and the soundbox. Overall, these components make up the system of using
a guitar. When a guitar string is plucked, it vibrates and creates a pressure wave consisting of
compressions and rarefactions. It is then transmitted by fluctuating air pressure. Because the strings
are attached to the soundboard, the sound is able to able to communicate the vibrations better. The
sound is then naturally amplified through the soundhole, which projects the vibrations to an audible

Anti War and Pro War Movements of the 20th Century
Pro war and Anti war movements for the 20th century
There have been movements that support or oppose war throughout all of history. The 20th century
saw this movement coalesce into a much larger and more diverse series of society changing events.
Spanish American war, World War I, World War II, the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm
were all wars that helped American society evolve into what it is today. For each of the conflicts, there
were opposing points of view as to the amount of involvement or to even become involved at all. The

America entered the war in 1917 after Germany severed diplomatic ties with the United States. The
sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 which took the lives of over 150 Americans and the sinking of the
Sussex in 1916 also worked to alter the mindset of many Americans.
Music of the time included folk songs from Joe Hill such as The Preacher and the Slave which is an
anti war song that stems from the working class opposition to the war. I Didn t Raise My Boy to Be a
Soldier by Al Pianadosi and Alfred Bryan was a song from the point of view of the mother of a boy
that was sent off to war. Her fears are that he won t come home again and that she raised him to be a
good person, not to kill other mother s boys. Pro war or patriotic songs such as Over There by George
M. Cohan and made popular by Billy Murray is a song from the eyes of a patriotic person who is
getting his gun to go over to Europe to help the good fight. Another pro war song was It s a Long Way
to Tipperary written by Jack Judge that is about a man that is off to war but remembers his girl in
Tipperary which is in Ireland.

Primary Objective Of Starting A Business Essay
The primary objective of starting a business is to gain customers, and it is the most crucial part in the
success of running a business. In order to thrive into today s economy business entities across the
globe use marketing as a tool for gaining new customers and retaining the existing ones (Wood, 2008).
Thus, marketing remains to be the main backbone of new and existing businesses successes.
Apparently, there are several basic concepts of marketing, which are commonly used by numerous
marketers of goods and services. These marketing concepts comprise of the sellers, consumers, the
product development, the market research, product positioning, the product image, the product
concept, and the brand loyalty. These concepts combined with the marketing boundaries help in
determining the consumer behaviour of the product under marketing. It is important to state that the
marketing concepts dictate that the success of a firm often depends on the marketing efforts that a
company employs (Wood,2008) The concepts also dictate that the successes of a company will depend
with how it delivers a better value proposition compared to its competitors. Thus, it is appropriate for
the stakeholders of a given business entity to understand that that effective marketing drive consumers
into the company.

Facial Symmetry and Physical Attractiveness
Literature on the topic of attractiveness is very extensive. The human face is something that catches
every ones attention and more over the scientists as well the psychologists are interested in analyzing
the ability of humans to extract information of the others. Several factors and features are associated
with attractiveness. Some examples include facial symmetry, skin color, facial traits, clear skin and
health of facial skin. It is hypothesized that facial symmetry is an important factors in measuring
physical attractiveness. Different features may be perceived as attractive by different people.
Biologists believed that facial symmetry should be attractive because it may signal mate quality.
Rhodes, Proffit, Grady and Sumich (1998) manipulated the symmetry to figure out the effect on
attractiveness. 4 versions of a picture were created. One was perfectly symmetric, the others were a
highly symmetric version, normal level of symmetry and a low symmetric version.64 subjects rated
these faces. The results clearly stated that perfect symmetry was significantly more attractive and low
symmetry faces were unattractive, more over the males found the perfect symmetric faces more
appealing as potential life partners, so facial symmetry does play a role in mate selection. In the
second experiment the authors compared the attractiveness of faces at three symmetry levels. These
were normal, high and perfect. The subjects were shown two versions of the same face at different

Toni Cade Bambara’s Black Female Champions Essay
Toni Cade Bambara s Black Female Champions
It is well known from historical accounts, novels, poems, movies, and other sources that blacks have
been abused, neglected, and mistreated in American society. In addition, a great deal has been written
about the lives, hardships, and obstacles of black men.
Black women, however, have long been relegated to subordinate societal roles in relation to white
men and women and black men. Black women have been viewed as monsters and suffered distortions
of their image. Toni Cade Bambara, in her writings, has helped to change the image of black women.

Charlie s bed (83).
The following statistics illustrate Ms. Lincoln s point. According to the Statistical Abstract of the
United States: 1996, in 1983, 512,000 individuals were employed as cleaners and servants. Of that
total, 95.8% were female. Black females comprised 42.4% of the total of all females working in those
occupations (407). In the category of maids and housemen, in 1983, 531,000 individuals provided
these services. Females made up 83.1% of the total. Black females comprised 32.3% of the total of all
females working as maids (407).
Toni Cade Bambara was very aware of the black environment and of black female experiences. In the
foreword to the book Black Women Writers at Work, Tillie Olsen states that black women writers,
such as Toni Cade Bambara, make us profoundly conscious of what harms, degrades, denies
development, destroys; of how much is unrealized, unlived; instead of oppressed victims, they tell of
the ways of resistances, resiliences (x xi).
Bambara was born in New York City, raised by her mother, and educated at Queens College. She was
a teacher, lecturer, and political activist ( Bambara, Toni Cade ). In an interview with Beverly Guy

The Pros And Cons Of Socrates
While my experience with faith has been positive, it is important to keep the possibility of negative
effects into consideration. For example, Socrates was charged for impiety and corrupting the youth of
Athens. Meletus, one of his accusers, strongly believed in the gods of Olympus, however, his opinions
and beliefs regarding faith led to the killing of the innocent Socrates. I turn to the second class, who
are headed by Meletus, that good and patriotic man, as he calls himself... What do they say?
Something of this sort: That Socrates is a doer of evil, and corrupter of the youth, and he does not
believe in the gods of the state, and has other new divinities of his own. According to this quotation
from Plato s Apology, Meletus considers himself to be a good and patriotic man. However, The
accusations made against Socrates suggest that he is not all good. These accusations demonstrate how
faith can sometimes lead one to become narrow minded and too consumed with their own faith, which
can then result in a disrespect towards those with different beliefs. In addition, a personal and
subjective faith in the spiritual has the possibility of going in the wrong direction and be ungrounded
and lead to error.
The different views towards Meletus relates to Descartes Meditation II and the wax argument. It could
certainly be nothing of all that the senses brought to my notice, since all these things which fall under

Lowry s True Colors System
When first reading about Lowry s True Colors system, I immediately assumed that the results of this
quiz would have little to no effect on my understanding of not only my personality type and
behavioral style, but others as well. After completing this quiz, I can honestly say that my initial
assumption was utterly wrong. Admittedly, my opinion was altered when I received a high score of 19
in the blue color spectrum category, and was able to affiliate almost all of the general descriptions of
the color blue with myself. Even though I was able to connect with most of the blue color
descriptions, there happened to be a few that practically popped off the scream and screamed my
name. These attributes include my specialty of valuing close relationships, staying true to myself, and
getting involved in causes. As I was reading the blue description list, one quality particularly caught
my eye; the ability to value close relationships. I believe that this attribute most closely relates to my
personality and behavior because of how much I appreciate and love my family and friends. For
instance, even though I am a freshman in an unfamiliar town, far away from all the people I care
about, I still make time everyday to get in touch with them and check up on them. To tell the truth, it

The Neuman System Model Models
The Neuman System Model Nursing models and theories are a detrimental part of nursing as a whole.
They help to ensure that our knowledge and education allows us to treat the whole person to the best
of our abilities. The Neuman system model developed by Betty Neuman focuses on the response of
the patient to actual or potential environmental stressors (Johnson Webber, 2015). This allows for a
systemic approach utilizing assessment, diagnosis, nursing process, planning, implementation, and
evaluation which are key elements of good nursing care. The environment, patient history, and
socioeconomic status can impact patient wellness and are therefore all considered when providing
patient care (Johnson Webber, 2015). The patient to which I will apply the Neuman system model will
be referred to as John. John is a 80 year old male, who was admitted on June 7, with swelling to the
legs and abdomen, SOB and a productive cough with gray sputum. John has extensive medical
comorbidities predisposing him to additional health concerns such as: congestive heart failure (CHF),
coronary artery disease (CAD), chronic kidney disease (CKD), hypertension (HTN), anemia,
cerebrovascular accident (CVA), chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and depression. He is
married and has a daughter and son. In this case John and his family will make up the client system.
To apply the Neuman system model the nurse must consider several aspects of the client system for
the assessment: Interacting

Pop Rocks Research Paper
Pop Rocks are a fun candy that have been enjoyed over the years. As soon as you put them in your
mouth, you start to hear and feel the popping! The question you might be asking is what exactly are
Pop Rocks? Everyone has eaten the popping candy, but have you ever wondered what makes them
pop? You might be wondering how Pop Rocks are even made or if they are dangerous.
Most hard candy is consisted of sugar, corn syrup, water, and flavoring. You heat the ingredients
together and boil the mixture to get off all of the water. Then, you let the temperature rise. The
temperature that the hard candy is heated at is 300 degrees Fahrenheit. After the temperature is raised,
you are left with is a pure sugar syrup. When it cools, you have hard candy. Pop Rocks are made by,
combining the hot sugar substances with carbon dioxide gas. Once it cools, you release the pressure
and the candy shatters, but the pieces still contain the high pressure bubbles. If you look at Pop Rocks

There are theories that drinking Coke with Pop Rocks will make your stomach explode. Mythbusters
proved that this is incorrect. In their very first episode, they used a pig stomach and combined a six
pack of Coke and six packets of Pop Rocks. There was a lot of fizz, but it did not burst the stomach.
On a scale from one to ten on dangerousness, Pop Rocks come in at about a two. It is very rare, but
there is a potential risk of ulcers and loss of teeth. This can only happen in extreme cases. Originally
invented in 1956 by William A. Mitchell, a chemist at the General Foods company looking for a way
to make instant carbonated soda by somehow trapping carbon dioxide into candy tablets. But when the
instant soda experiment didn t turn out, the formula was forgotten and put away. Twenty years later,
another chemist came across the formula, reworked it a little, and turned it into Pop

Seatbelt Research Papers
The impacts of seatbelts in a car crash
The industrial revolution in the early 20th century lead to a boom in the production of automobiles. As
a result, revolutionized urban transportation. Earlier cars, were not built keeping in mind passenger
safety. This led to lot of fatal accidents, where many drivers and front seat passengers lost their lives.
The invention of the seat belt has dramatically improved passenger safety. The seat belt is a safety
device designed to retract and secure a driver or passenger in a vehicle to their seat.
It was first patented by an American inventor, Edward J. Claghorn in 1885. In the early 50s many car
companies started offering seatbelts. The Nash, Ford motor company and the Swedish firm Saab
adopted them early. It was around the same time that people increasingly started using seatbelts in the
US.
In 1955, a famous actor, James Dean died due to a two vehicle crash in the Southern California desert.
He would have likely survived this if he had been wearing a seat belt. The Dean crash raised public
awareness in the US about seat belt utilization in automobiles, and their possible advantages. The

disadvantages caused by them even so there are many arguments and points that people make to

How The Cross Cultural Communication Effectively For The...
The changing of culture and development of technology make a huge change to the global business
marketplace. Nowadays, almost every organization around the world has more than one nationality of
employee. For example, all of the Google offices in the United States have 39 percent of foreign
employees (Google, 2014). From the multinational environment in the global business, the cross
cultural communication is so important for the company to communicate and send the message to
their stakeholder clearly. It is not easy to do the cross cultural communication effectively for the
company, because there are the barriers from the diverse workforce. There are three major barriers of
effective cross cultural communication; language, nonverbal communication, and stereotype barrier.
Language Barrier We can say that language is the biggest barrier for the people to make the cross
cultural communication. According to Oxford dictionary, language means the method of human
communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structure and
conventional way (2014). Language is the important tool that can connect people to communicate to
each other, and it is not only for the business purpose, but it includes how to talk with people in daily
life. However, if people come from the different country, the problem is how they can understand the
language of each other, because in each country, they have their own language. In addition, there are

Examples Of Inductive Approach
In general, there were two approaches that could be applied to teach grammar: deductive and
inductive. This dichotomy was built upon rule based and example based teaching. The deductive
approach, also known as a top down approach, was a rule based teaching style that involved
explaining the grammar item to learners before they encountered how rules functioned in language
and then applying it; therefore, the deductive approach was one of the explicit teaching styles (Cowan,
2008). This approach was derived from the notion of deductive reasoning where the concept went
from the general to the specific. It can also be called rule driven learning. In such an approach, the
most favorable method was Grammar Translation Method where the grammar ... Show more content

This question relates to a long standing debate among language teachers in the context of EFL/ESL,
since the two had their own significances for Particular learner progress. On one side, deductive
approach can be effective with students of a lower level, who are beginning to learn the basic
structures of the language, or with students who are accustomed to a more traditional style of learning
(Goner, Philips, and Walters,1995,p.134). Also, Deductive approach goes straightforwardly to the
point and can, therefore, be time saving for the teacher and the class. Robinson (1996) proved that
learners performed grammatical tasks better and reacted faster in deductive rather than inductive
teaching. Erlam (2003) confirmed that deductive teaching was easier for learners to acquire direct
object pronouns in French as a second language, and it was highly likely that the same holds true for

The problem which had arose this year, we had to get into groups and decide what project to undergo

we would do and if they were possible to make or not. We could not have a small project because we
were in a group of 3 so we had to make sure the project was big enough to do for group of 3 members.
The purpose of the project was to build an electrical and electronic based project which involved
circuitry. To start with, we had to create a gantt chart and conduct a feasibility study to know if our
project would be a success or not, and gantt chart to give a rough estimation of how long the project
would take to build and test. We first started looking into what sensors we would use and how they
would be connected up to give us readings, so we had researched microcontrollers to use because that
is what all sensors would be connected upto. The most suitable firmware was the arduino in the end.
We had researched weather monitoring systems and had also gone to have a look at a few; we looked
at how everything would function and how the readings were given out. The circuitry carried out was
a good experience seeing as we were electrical and electronic students. The project was much harder
than we had anticipated, but throughout the year we had learnt many new skills and qualities,

Scalia Textualism Analysis
There are many forms of constitutional interpretation, including constructionism, originalism,
balancing, precedent, and reliance on foreign law and courts. The late Justice Antonin Scalia was a
close adherer to the doctrine known as textualism. A textualist seeks to look at the actual text and then
examine the meaning of the text based on original intent and other criteria. Scalia s approach to legal
interpretation has garnered praise from many sources. Justice Elena Kagan said of Scalia s approach,

Film Films Of Alfred Hitchcock
Films of Alfred Hitchcock
Humans have an insatiable urge for entertainment, part of which is often satisfied through watching
movies. Whenever a movie is written and subsequently produced, there are a couple of themes that
accompany it. Though all movies have a significant amount of simulated actions, many of the themes
do occur in the real life. Writers tend to have a particular thought to develop into a plot, which is often
inspired by real life events. Then, when a movie is being written and produced, the relevant personnel
decide which genre to adopt. Horror, science fiction and action are some of the categories for movies.
In this paper, the focus lies on a 1960 Alfred Hitchcock film, Psycho where a theme comprising of

As noted with the other movies, there is hardly a film with a single theme; many have more than even

her employer s money, the boss unfortunately, sees her. Consequently, this causes her to be nervous,
and makes wrong decisions in the process. After overcoming the seemingly opposition fronted by a
police officer who finds her asleep, Crane continues to a motel called Bates motel, belonging to a Mr.
Norman Bates(Smith, p14).
Up to that point, one can see several themes including that of symbolic economy. First, when Crane
decided to steal the money, the financial pressure she was experiencing catalyzed the decision. It is not
always that horror movies are used in relation to money related issues, and especially in matter of
debts. Yet, movies have a way of affecting people in a number of positive ways especially when the
plot resonates with the normal life. According to Breslin (p.176), the media, especially through the
movies influence and influence the human behavior significantly. When showing a woman who
decides to elope with the employer s money, the Psycho captures the mind of the viewers as it related
with the cases they face each day.
The issue of symbolic economy in the movie is not limited to the theft

Foundations have to be laid before a person can go out alone. A baby cannot be potty trained before
they even know how to walk. A child cannot ride a bike without first learning with training wheels and

will only go up because people will become depressed by the shame of the things they did while under
the influence. Teens are flaky and most are not consistent on what they want to do with their lives.
They are still discovering who they are and who they want to be. If they drink, it could ruin their
whole future in one way or another. Teenagers should not be allowed to drink for they are not
experienced with driving and do not know how alcohol will affect them. Some say that since Europe
has a low drinking age, the U.S. should follow but the difference between the U.S. and European
drinking laws are that Europeans have a higher age for when teens can drive. Teens may be allowed to
drink at 14, 15, or even 16 but they are not allowed to get their license until they are 18, teens in
America can get their license at 16. If the drinking age was lowered to 18 that gives them only two

teens are thus much more likely to drive under the influence of alcohol if the drinking age were
lowered (ProCon, 2008). States such as Massachusetts, Michigan, and Maine that have lowered that
drinking age had an increase in alcohol related collisions among the 18 to

Disadvantages Of Anarrchism
Coming from the Greek words outopia (meaning nowhere ) and eutopia (meaning good place ),
Utopianism is the idea of a perfect society. Although visions of this perfect society vary, most can be
characterised by an abolishment of exploitation, greed and conflict. Utopianism is often most
associated with Anarchism and because of this, many critics are often quick to deem the ideology
idealistic and unattainable. However this view of Anarchism is, in fact, over simplified itself, and as a
wider philosophy Anarchism can be broken into much smaller strands all with varying degrees of
utopian belief.
One of the main reasons that anarchism is often associated with utopianism, is that both are founded
on the principle belief of the unlimited possibilities of human nature and self development. This
theory actively rejects the social contract theory of Locke and Hobbes which believes that human
nature is selfish, greedy and aggressive and thus believes the state is necessary for a secure life.
Instead, anarchists believe that social order will arise naturally as humans have the ability to organise
their own lives in a harmonious way and reject the idea that the state is necessary. In fact, anarchist
ideology states that all authority is evil and it is such, which corrupts those within it and in the words
of Lord Acton, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. . Although anarchists
believe in the possibility of human goodness, they also recognise that

Personality Traits Of Team Sports
The aim of this investigation was to test if there is a connection between particular personality traits
and any differences in the personality traits of individuals who play team sports and individuals who
play individual sports, such as strong agreeableness and extraversion seen in team sports played. The
hypothesis for this investigation is that students who participate in team sports will on average have
higher scores in the continuum for each stage of the Big Five theory than students who play individual
sports. The investigation involved a questionnaire on 23 year twelve psychology students who will be
given 10 questions ranging from 1 to 5 in terms of their continuum with pairs of two questions on each
stage of OCEAN such as for openness to experience one of the questions has a continuum from
unimaginative to imaginative which the participant will rate themselves on. The questionnaire is self
evaluated therefore the participant would answer based on their perception of themselves. The results
of each individual s answers will be kept anonymous to provide students with their anonymity and to
avoid any issues that may have arisen that would hinder the investigation and affect the individuals.
The results of the research have displayed the higher scores in traits are often apparent in people who
play team sports whereas lower scores are more prominent in participants who are involved in

The purpose of this lab was to evaluate our skills of decanting a supernatant liquid without losing the
solid and successful completion of a series of reactions. This was done through five chemical reactions
involving copper. In this lab, elemental copper was put through five different chemical reactions in
order to convert it into different compounds. By the end of the fifth reaction, the copper was back to
its elemental state. In the first reaction, 0.95 g of pure copper was reacted with 4.0 mL of concentrated
nitric acid under the fume hood. The solution was swirled until all of the copper had dissolved. The

The black precipitate was allowed to settle and then the supernatant, the clear liquid that lies above a
precipitate, was decanted, or poured carefully off. Then, 200 mL of hot distilled water was added and
the precipitate was allowed to settle to repeat the decanting process again. In the fourth reaction, 15
mL of 6.0 M sulfuric acid was added to the copper (II) oxide while stirring. The balanced equation for
this reaction is as follows:
CuO (s) + H2SO4 (aq) à CuSO4 (aq) + H2O (l) + SO2 (g)
When the sulfuric acid was added to copper (II) oxide, the solution turned blue. This was due to the
formation of aqueous copper (II) sulfate, which produced the copper ions to change the color of the
solution. In the fifth reaction, 2.29 g of zinc was added to the copper (II) sulfate solution under the
fume hood. The balanced equation for this reaction is written as followed:
Zn (s) + CuSO4 (aq) à ZnSO4 (aq) + Cu (s)
When the zinc was added to the copper (II) sulfate solution, the solution started to bubble. As the
solution was stirred, it turned a cloudy blue. Small flecks of a brown solid were visible. As the
solution became colorless, the brown solid settled to the bottom of the beaker. The solid formed was
copper in its elemental state. The color faded from the solution as the copper ions slowly formed into
solid copper. The copper was poured into a funnel with filter paper and washed three times with 25

in the movie. The aliens take refuge in the slums and then these slums are walled up and this is the
only proper place for them to live in. The aliens live in separate areas from the humans, which is
parallel to the apartheid policies in real life. There are signs everywhere in District Nine s
Johannesburg which tells the aliens that the facilities in the city is for human usage and they cannot
loiter and aren t welcome in shops. This is all true in real life South Africa. Black majority live in
designated areas and public facilities have signs on them stating who can use it. Benches, beaches and
toilets have signs on them that say blacks only showing that only black people can use

Benefits Of Extortion In Education
Why do people in current society allow people to be extorted, yet at the same time boast about being
able to give them everything? Young people are often taken advantage of, due to their naïve, immature
nature and naturally strong abilities that are prone to being young. One of the many examples is the
extortion that universities bring onto their young students and their beloved families. If they were
payed off by the government, extortion would be heavily reduced. Universities should be funded by
todays government because of students being extorted for large amounts of money, because of the
benefits towards society today, and because of university drop out rates are on the extreme rise due to
student debts. Universities often take advantage of their own students because of them having to pay
for their education. This is a hidden flaw to the system after post secondary school as governments are
given little to no control about what secretly actually happens within universities/colleges. Tuition gets
all the media attention while fees are hidden to students and public knowledge. (Marcus, n.p.) was a
comment made by an expert researcher on post secondary extortion. Imagine first, having to already
pay at least 20k just for 1 year of education. Now on top of that vast amount, add fees such as student
activity fees, gym maintenance fees, library user fees, studio fees, counselling fees, multi program
fees, academic enhancement fees, academic excellent fees, technology fees,

Why Were There Two Revolutions In Russia In 1917
Why were there two revolutions in Russia in 1917? Why did the Provisional Government exist for
mere months, yet the Bolsheviks had consolidated their authority in the country by Lenin s death in
1924?
Between February and October in 1917, two revolutions occurred due to the Governments failing to
fulfill the needs of the Russian people. With the Tsar in power during Bloody Sunday that formed riots
and Government unrest and also the Russo Japanese War and World War One that left the Russian
people humiliated and in disarray. The reign of the Provisional Government was short due to failures
to provide land and food to the peasants and also the failure to pull Russia out of World War One
caused chaos throughout Russia once more. The rise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Government corruption was immense, the Russian economy was backwards, the Tsar repeatedly
crumbled the Dumas, Russia s involvement in Russo Japanese war and World War One was
disastrous, the fact that he ignored the requests of the people, and he had no support of the military, it
left him no other choice to abdicate from power.
With the collapse of the Tsar s Government in March 1917, the members of the Duma set up the
Provisional Government, led by Alexander Kerensky. The Provisional Government had one
disadvantage, it s leaders, who were all associated with the middle class and were not seen as having
anything in common with the working class, therefore it made the Provisional Government s job of
representing the working class a whole lot harder. There were many main reasons why the Provisional
Government only existed for mere months, with a large majority of those reasons being that their
decisions were greatly unpopular among the Russian people. A major blunder by the Provisional
Government that greatly affected their existence was the refusal of land reforms, this seemed to back
up the point that the Provisional Government did not understand the desires of the poor and didn t take
into account their living conditions. Another factor that lead to the removal of the Provisional
Government was the fact

Films Made During World War II
Films made during World War II provide a unique insight into the relationship between film and
society. Frank Capra s Why We Fight series, produced from 1942 to 1945, emphasises the use of film
by government for the purpose of propaganda. The representations of war within similar texts promote
an incomplete understanding of popular conceptions of life during the period. Consequently, the issues
with this film as a historical source stress the overt influence of the director, and by extension, the
government. This underlying intent behind the film is seen through the distinct purpose of propaganda
strategy. The purpose based production highlights the reciprocal relationship concerning popular
conceptions of the war between society and film. Accordingly, study of these texts demonstrates how
the ability of film to foster social cohesion in war complements its function as a shared cultural event.
Films made during this period display some aspects of popular conceptions of life at war, despite their
limitations as a historical source. For example, the simultaneous position of Why We Fight as
propaganda and documentary gives insight into groups that accept or endorse its information. Notably,
Capra s series is correctly described as the centrepiece of the United States troop indoctrination
programme, due to its reported success and distortion of fact. This combination reveals the overlap
between the utilisation of film in this period as a source of both entertainment and

My Desire To Become A Nurse Anesthetist
Reflection #1
I decided to attend college because I ve always wanted to help people. As I grew older my desire to
help others lead me in a lucid career path. I wanted to become a doctor. I knew I wanted to become a
doctor, but I wasn t aware of how such of a complex career it would be. I realized that it would take
years of education, training and experience. Nevertheless, this was something I was determined to do
and complete successfully. So I worked hard in school. Occasionally I got a bit side tracked, but with
the help of my grandparents I recovered quickly. I also wanted to break the cycle in my immediate
family. By being the first person in my immediate family to attend college. My grandmother died
approximately 3 weeks before I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The job field(s) I m choosing to pursue are jobs that are consistent. Meaning there is always a constant
need of them, they are a necessity in our economy. Based on the information I learned in this class, I
consider it to be useful to my knowledge. By this class being an for your experience course. It gives
me knowledge on college and on my surroundings. It strengthens my knowledge about areas I wasn t
familiar with about college, which would benefit me tremendously. One thing I learned was how do I
view my surroundings as political? This helps me see my world in a different perspective. Which
would help me view things from many different perspectives. Which could be used as an advantage in
the future. This course would help me achieve better understanding in my American Government
class. Which is very similar to my this course. I believe everything in this class is beneficial to me. My
next four years in college, I hope are filled with knowledge, experience, joy, and field periods. I
believe this is the antidote for a successful college experience. Which would benefit me if these things
existed over the next four years; in order for me to feel as if I ve gotten my moneys worth and not just

Do Mistakes Lead To New Discoveries
Do mistakes lead to new discoveries? I believe yes! Sometimes they don t lead to new discoveries but
most the time they do. Think about when you were in middle school or something, you got a question
wrong on a test, you can now understand how to do it if you do corrections, you learned or discovered
how to solve it correctly instead of getting it wrong every time. In the first story it talks about how
Frank Calvert wants to make discoveries in Ancient Troy, but doesn t have all the funds to do it so he
pairs with someone else named Heinrich Schliemann and they made a dig site where they believed
Ancient Troy was. Eventually Calvert had to rely on Schliemann to fund it all and so Schliemann did
the dig site his way. Unfortunately Schliemann s

Freedom From Fear Book Report David Kennedy s book Freedom from Fear: The American People in Depression and War 1929 1945 shines light on the financial impacts that hit the country during the Great Depression and World War 2. This book shares how some people assumed that Franklyn D Roosevelt was a successor in getting things moving to a better economy but if it wasn t for Hoover things may have been worse, or that s what I took from it. Kennedy starts off the book with talking about the end of World War 1 and how the Great Depression started with the treaty of Versailles because it had led men of World War 2 to believe that they could be better leaders of their country. A prime example would be Hitler who believed that Jewish people were the reason Germany failed and this led to him rising to power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People had no care for saving or cautious behavior with money. But when the stock market crashed consumers and businesses had little trust. Although the stock market crash has not been directly connected with the start of the Great Depression it did scare so many people that they ran to banks to withdraw what money they had left only to have banks soon fail. Banks had a major crisis at hand because they money they loaned out went into buying stocks. This crash had caused the banks to fail when people couldn t keep up with their payments. Hoover had tried to help cushion the blow. He had tried to get business leaders to hold wages at a certain prices. He had also got the Federal Reserve involved by making open market purchases. He even tried to help those who were unemployed by stimulating construction work. This was the best he could do with the help he had. Some people think that the crude language used in television serves no purpose and shows that a program was made by a bunch of idiots, intellectually, who cannot think of anything intelligent to say. On the other side of the spectrum, people could argue that vulgar language in movies or television serves as a way to make fun or to interpret stupidity in our society. In the comedic movie South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, the main characters, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny sneak into an R rated animated musical called Terrance and Phillip Asses of Fire , which uses a high volume of crude language. This movie was so terrible that everybody in the movie theatre left, while the only people that stayed through the whole film were Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny. After the movie, the boys were using all the crude language that they had learned from the movie Terrance and Phillip. The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, use crude language throughout their episodes to represent the social issues in America. The creators use the crude language to cause attention, to practice their freedom of speech in America, and to rebel against censorship in television which contributes to the success of this program. South Park discusses issues prevalent in today s society and encourages people to practice their freedom of speech, which is why this program should be watched by more people. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ( Dmd ) Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Genetic Disorder Introduction to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is one of many types of muscular dystrophy disorders, which affect the muscle fibers. It is the most aggressive form of muscular dystrophy. The muscle fibers gradually become weaker and incapacitate the affected individual. DMD is a recessive, fatal, X linked disorder occurring at a frequency of about 1 in 3,500 new born males (NCBI, 2014). Males are more susceptible to inherit this disorder because DMD is passed on through the X chromosome. Women can be carriers of the disorder without any adverse affects. The female carrier has a 50% chance of passing on this trait to an offspring. It is extremely rare that a female will have DMD. Symptoms of this disorder include muscle weakness that starts at the legs and progresses at a fast rate though out the body. The rapid progression of muscular dystrophy means that the inflicted individual will eventually be confined to a wheelchair in their life time. Wheelchair dependency had a median age of 10 years (OMIM, 2013). Other symptoms include degraded motor skills as well as learning disabilities. As muscle mass diminishes the individual suffers from heart and lung complications eventually leading to the persons death. Death occurred at a median age of 17 years (OMIM, 2013). • 10. Roles Of Public And Public Policy Roles of Public Administrators in the Policy Process The formulation and implementation of public policy benefit the public. Therefore, public policy is a framework whereby the government pursues its action plan. Moreover, it is a course of action aimed at responding to a problem and achieving a goal. Consequently, the formulation of a policy adheres to a particular political process, and it is enforced and implemented by a public agency. As stated, public policy affects the public, meaning that it has an effect on the people and how they live. Subsequently, public policy should cover the needs of the people and enhance their lives. Not all the people can participate in the policy process, and as a result, those professions that have a direct interaction with the public can play a big role in representing it in the policy process. Thus, public administrators are best suited to represent the public in the policy process because they understand needs of the public, the policy process, and where and when they can influence this process. Policy Design Public administrators should understand that in a bureaucratic system, they are essential for good governance. Thus, they are in a position to represent the public and its needs to the government (Warner, 2001). As stated earlier, the role of policies is to provide a framework for solving problems. • 25. Seatbelt Research Papers The impacts of seatbelts in a car crash The industrial revolution in the early 20th century lead to a boom in the production of automobiles. As a result, revolutionized urban transportation. Earlier cars, were not built keeping in mind passenger safety. This led to lot of fatal accidents, where many drivers and front seat passengers lost their lives. The invention of the seat belt has dramatically improved passenger safety. The seat belt is a safety device designed to retract and secure a driver or passenger in a vehicle to their seat. It was first patented by an American inventor, Edward J. Claghorn in 1885. In the early 50s many car companies started offering seatbelts. The Nash, Ford motor company and the Swedish firm Saab adopted them early. It was around the same time that people increasingly started using seatbelts in the US. In 1955, a famous actor, James Dean died due to a two vehicle crash in the Southern California desert. He would have likely survived this if he had been wearing a seat belt. The Dean crash raised public awareness in the US about seat belt utilization in automobiles, and their possible advantages. Nowadays, almost every organization around the world has more than one nationality of employee. For example, all of the Google offices in the United States have 39 percent of foreign employees (Google, 2014). From the multinational environment in the global business, the cross cultural communication is so important for the company to communicate and send the message to their stakeholder clearly. It is not easy to do the cross cultural communication effectively for the company, because there are the barriers from the diverse workforce. There are three major barriers of effective cross cultural communication; language, nonverbal communication, and stereotype barrier. Language Barrier We can say that language is the biggest barrier for the people to make the cross cultural communication. According to Oxford dictionary, language means the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structure and conventional way (2014). Language is the important tool that can connect people to communicate to each other, and it is not only for the business purpose, but it includes how to talk with people in daily life. This dichotomy was built upon rule based and example based teaching. The deductive approach, also known as a top down approach, was a rule based teaching style that involved explaining the grammar item to learners before they encountered how rules functioned in language and then applying it; therefore, the deductive approach was one of the explicit teaching styles (Cowan, 2008). This approach was derived from the notion of deductive reasoning where the concept went from the general to the specific. It can also be called rule driven learning. Also, Deductive approach goes straightforwardly to the point and can, therefore, be time saving for the teacher and the class. Robinson (1996) proved that learners performed grammatical tasks better and reacted faster in deductive rather than inductive teaching. We could not have a small project because we were in a group of 3 so we had to make sure the project was big enough to do for group of 3 members. The purpose of the project was to build an electrical and electronic based project which involved circuitry. Writers tend to have a particular thought to develop into a plot, which is often inspired by real life events. Teens are flaky and most are not consistent on what they want to do with their lives. They are still discovering who they are and who they want to be. If they drink, it could ruin their whole future in one way or another. Teenagers should not be allowed to drink for they are not experienced with driving and do not know how alcohol will affect them. • 36. Disadvantages Of Anarrchism Coming from the Greek words outopia (meaning nowhere ) and eutopia (meaning good place ), Utopianism is the idea of a perfect society. Although visions of this perfect society vary, most can be characterised by an abolishment of exploitation, greed and conflict. Utopianism is often most associated with Anarchism and because of this, many critics are often quick to deem the ideology idealistic and unattainable. However this view of Anarchism is, in fact, over simplified itself, and as a wider philosophy Anarchism can be broken into much smaller strands all with varying degrees of utopian belief. One of the main reasons that anarchism is often associated with utopianism, is that both are founded on the principle belief of the unlimited possibilities of human nature and self development. This theory actively rejects the social contract theory of Locke and Hobbes which believes that human nature is selfish, greedy and aggressive and thus believes the state is necessary for a secure life. Instead, anarchists believe that social order will arise naturally as humans have the ability to organise their own lives in a harmonious way and reject the idea that the state is necessary. In fact, anarchist ideology states that all authority is evil and it is such, which corrupts those within it and in the words of Lord Acton, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. . Young people are often taken advantage of, due to their naïve, immature nature and naturally strong abilities that are prone to being young. One of the many examples is the extortion that universities bring onto their young students and their beloved families. If they were payed off by the government, extortion would be heavily reduced. Universities should be funded by todays government because of students being extorted for large amounts of money, because of the benefits towards society today, and because of university drop out rates are on the extreme rise due to student debts. Universities often take advantage of their own students because of them having to pay for their education. Frank Capra s Why We Fight series, produced from 1942 to 1945, emphasises the use of film by government for the purpose of propaganda. The representations of war within similar texts promote an incomplete understanding of popular conceptions of life during the period. Consequently, the issues with this film as a historical source stress the overt influence of the director, and by extension, the government. This underlying intent behind the film is seen through the distinct purpose of propaganda strategy. The purpose based production highlights the reciprocal relationship concerning popular conceptions of the war between society and film. Accordingly, study of these texts demonstrates how the ability of film to foster social cohesion in war complements its function as a shared cultural event. Films made during this period display some aspects of popular conceptions of life at war, despite their limitations as a historical source. For example, the simultaneous position of Why We Fight as propaganda and documentary gives insight into groups that accept or endorse its information. Notably, Capra s series is correctly described as the centrepiece of the United States troop indoctrination programme, due to its reported success and distortion of fact. This combination reveals the overlap between the utilisation of film in this period as a source of both entertainment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the first story it talks about how Frank Calvert wants to make discoveries in Ancient Troy, but doesn t have all the funds to do it so he pairs with someone else named Heinrich Schliemann and they made a dig site where they believed Ancient Troy was. Eventually Calvert had to rely on Schliemann to fund it all and so Schliemann did the dig site his way. Unfortunately Schliemann s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
