Lumbar Disc Pathology
A Literature Review on Pertinent Imaging Findings for Lumbar Disc Pathology What these Images
Are Holding to Guide in Physical Therapy Treatments Physical therapists provide a multi approach in
treatment of discogenic low back pain. Most of the common approaches available include manual
therapy, lumbar stabilization, yoga, swimming and traction. Depending on the stage and severity of
disk pathology, it is mostly a therapist s preference when it comes to what intervention is applied.
There are no clear cut, well defined practice guidelines as when is it more meaningful and effective to
choose manual therapy for this stage of disc pathology, versus that of traction for another phase.
Hence, this literature study will try to look into the more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are some important concepts such as avoidance of axial loading when prescribing
exercises to patients with disc pathology as this is strongly related to degenerative changes although
there is no gold standard tool for measuring lumbar compression load (Hung, Y.J.et al., 2014). Hours
spent sitting significantly increased the prevalence of disc herniation. Sitting is also associated with
loss of the lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc (IVD) compression, and height loss, possibly increasing
the risk of lower back pain (Fryer, J.C., Quon, J. A., Smith, F. W. (2010). Hence, offering variable
positions when exercising patients best minimizes seated exercises. Little is known about the
correlation between the extent of disc herniation and clinical signs and symptoms, neither were there
any reported correlation between improvement in functions nor the pain reduction as visually
reported, other than the reduction in sizes of disc herniation among the four segment levels (L2 L3 = n
6, L3 L4 n=17, L4 L5 n= 51 c, and L5 S1 n= 4), indicative of morphological regression of herniated
disk during their repeated MR as reported by the research of Unlu, Tasci, Tarhan, Pabuscu, Islak in
2008. Hence, physical assessment and a thorough physical therapy

A Star s Death Of A Star
All stars are born in nebulae. Nebulae are huge cold clouds of gas and dust. The formation of
protostars requires huge clouds of gas and dust collapsing under gravitational forces. The stage of a
protostar last an approximate of 50 million years. As stars grow, they also expand. When the core runs
out of hydrogen and helium, the contacts and outer layers of the core expand, become cold, and the
brightness decreases. This is also known as a Red Giant or a Red Supergiant which mainly consists of
the star s mass. After a while of beginning the process of its death it goes through other stages. The
beginning of a star s death starts when their core runs out of hydrogen and then helium. A star will
eventually collapse and explode. The life span

Papa Goose Inventory System
Scope and Purpose
Purpose
We will be observing one of the restaurants located in Melbourne, named Papa Goose Restaurant Bar.
The main purpose of this project is to know about the inventory system of this restaurant. The purpose
is to look at the issues in the inventory, and to provide them with the best possible solution.
Target System Inventory Management
Papa Goose is both a restaurant and bar so it is necessary that the inventory of both the ingredients of
the restaurant and the liquor of the bar. They are currently using a manual setup for holding the
records of the inventory of both the restaurant and the bar. It is necessary that they use proper
inventory system and keep it computerized.
Perpetual Inventory System/Weekly Based
I would prescribe them to do a weekly control on their ingredients and the liquor. The weekly
inventory check would give the manager a weekly check of the requirements needed in the inventory.
This would help in identifying and solving the potential or upcoming problems of relating to the
inventory. Perpetual inventory system would be necessary in the case of Papa Goose Restaurant Bar,
the amount of the raw material such as meat and all the other important ingredients required could be
collected and then all that has been bought could be entered in the computer, in the spreadsheet the
correct quantity could be removed when it is used. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We would provide them with all the basic knowledge of how to keep the data on the computer. The
computerized data would also help them to keep a backup of their data. The perpetual inventory
system would make the work error free, and also less chances of

Throughout the centuries, social class and mobility has...
Throughout the centuries, social class and mobility has always been a big concern for Americans.
Today, social mobility has been known to be roughly the same over the past few decades. Social
mobility, to begin with, is defined as a movement, either upward or downward, in social class. The
social mobility is greatly influenced by the level of openness within a society, in which a person can
gain their social status by their own efforts.
We often think to ourselves that the United States is a place with a lot of social mobility and equal
opportunities. However, that is ironically not true. According to a graph from a 2005 New York Times
series on income mobility, the United States is ranked second to last when it comes to the rate of ...

While on the other hand, children that are raised by both parents have higher rates of upward mobility.
In addition, children who didn t get to spend most of their childhood with both of their biological
parents, usually have lower socioeconomic gains when compared to children who did. Studies also
show that nearly a third of households that are run by single mothers in the United States, live below
the poverty line. Another barrier to social mobility is income inequality, which have grown greatly
since the early 1970s. It s no longer the case that anyone that works hard and plays by the rules can get
ahead. There are five types of levels that Americans are classified as, which are the upper class, upper
middle class, the middle class, the working class, and the poor. Today, the highest percentage of
Americans, fall in the poor category. In our society today, most of the population has jobs that help
keep the country in place yet they hardly are awarded for their hard work and effort. Many of these
people live from paycheck to paycheck, barely meeting their needs. This isn t because they can t
manage their money, but because the value of their time at work, is negligible. People even often
sacrifice their sanity, happiness, and their life just to keep themselves from poverty. While on the other

The Laramie Project Essay
The Laramie Project is a play written by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater
Project by interviewing the residents of Laramie Wyoming about the murder of a gay student,
Matthew Shepard. The play raises controversy revolving around homosexuality, hate crimes and
acceptance. In addition to the various themes suggested by the play, the author wanted to present the
varying perspectives toward homosexuality in the Laramie Community at the time of Shepard death.
The three main perspectives towards homosexuality were hatred, tolerance and acceptance. The author
also wanted to explore how these perspectives may have changed as the result of Shepard s death.
Even at the time of Shepard s death, some still showed their hostility and ... Show more content on

By showing the different perspectives towards homosexuality, I was able to see the full picture about
the matter. After familiarizing with The Laramie Project and Mathew Shepard s story, I realized all the
different perspectives others have towards homosexuality. It is not plainly black and white but there
are different shades of grey. The author of the play achieved his objectives because of all the

My Views On Religion And Beliefs
How many people take time to go outside of their own religious community to talk about others point
of view and beliefs? This can be an eye opener to why they do specific actions. The insight to the
objects, beliefs and what they hold sacred can create a greater understanding and appreciation for the
individuals. For this project, I choose to interview a coworker, one who I had not taken the time to ask
about his religion/beliefs prior to this project.
I am a non practicing, non religious person. I spent a morning talking to Stanley. He identifies as a non
denominational Christian. He not only has strong religious beliefs, he is a pastor in the community. He
often spends his free time going to church, home calls and to the hospital to pray and help those in
need with religious counseling. He is highly dedicated to his beliefs. As he responded to my questions
to further understand the difference between his life and my own, it was apparent he is unwavering
and set in his beliefs.
In the process of relating the interview to what we have learned and discussed in this class, I decided
to ask Stanley the basic questions to gain a greater perspective of his life. When asked What impact
does your religion have on your life? to contrast my life to his, his answer is as follows:
If by religion you mean truth, then it impacts every aspect of my life, both in public and in private.
The term religious has different meanings to different people. I prefer to use the word

The Creation Of The Church
The landscape of the church has changed greatly since the early days of the 1st century. The small
groups, seen in the Book of Acts, have been replaced by large centralized denominations and religious
institutions, and in the process, the idea that the Body of Christ is a family has been relegated into
large groups of strangers. The early church was a family unit that extended far beyond the ideals and
principles experienced in the church today (Sprinkle, 2015). The 1st century church exemplified
fellowship, commitment, and service to others and was held together by an unconditional bond made
possible by Jesus Christ (Sprinkle, 2015). The church in Acts was also devoid of hierarchy and actual
buildings, except for synagogues. Christians, in the 1st century, were neither militaristic nor voracious
for power; instead, they looked to the cross and overcame evil through suffering and love, rather than
weaponry (Sprinkle, 2015). Early Christians took the church to the people as Christ intended, as such;
it was not uncommon for many to gather in the homes of others or any other place suitable for
fellowship, worship, and the study of God s Word. The church was more about people, rather than the
four walls containing the people of the modern day church (Sprinkle, 2015). Characteristics of the
early church comprised of total acceptance of others, complete fellowship with God, and the spiritual
dynamics of teaching, eating together, praying together, singing together, and even

The Importance Of Football Uniforms
Football Uniform What if football players did not wear uniforms? Football teams would look
discombobulated, and Football players would not be able to specify who is on which team during a
game. A football uniform has so many different components. Football uniforms have three main
sections: a lower body section, a torso, and a helmet section. Each section includes different
equipment and items that make up each part. Some of pieces of the uniform are strictly for enhancing
performance, while others are for improving style, but every part is important to a football uniform.
First, football players wear important uniform pieces on their lower body. The lower body part of a
football uniform contains tights, a girdle, football pants, a towel, and cleats. The first piece of the
lower body section of a uniform are tights. Tights are tight fitting pants that fit to a player s legs, hence
the name tights. Tights are skin tight and keep the leg muscles stable and cool. Tights also posses a
component of style. Tights come in all different colors and can bring a uniform together. For example,
players on the Minnesota Vikings all wear purple tights that look awesome. The next part of the lower
body is a girdle. A girdle is used strictly for keeping players safe by protecting the hips and thighs. In a
way, a girdle is practically underwear with pads. The next important piece of the lower body are
football pants. Football pants go just below the knees and are tighter fitting around the legs. Football
pants are built to endure hits and rough games, and they have knee pads to add protection. A belt loops
around the pants to keep the pants from falling down. Football pants vary in color depending on the
team color and style choice. Football pants also bring a football uniform together by giving the
uniform a solid pop in color. Following the football pants, the next part of the lower body is the towel.
The towel is a small, rectangular, white towel that velcros around the belt. Towels are both useful and
good looking. Players use towels to keep their hands dry so that they can throw and catch the football
to the best of their ability. Towels also give a football uniform a flash of style. The final piece of the

Waverly Leonard
Part I Reading Journal, ch.s 1 13
Plot Summary:
These first thirteen chapters chronicle the daily life of Edna Pontellier, The Awakening s protagonist.
The novel opens on Mr. Pontellier; he is smoking a cigar and reading the newspaper while idly
observing the life and activity around him. The novel turns its attention to his wife, Edna Pontellier.
She is described as rather handsome than beautiful and has a face with a certain frankness of
expression, an intriguing description if there ever was one. She is accompanied by Robert Lebrun, the
son of Madame Lebrun, the owner of the house at which the Creole aristocracy stayed on the Grand
Isle. They are rather close companions; Robert has chosen to follow her around for the summer, as is
later revealed to be his custom. It s revealed that Edna is an American woman from the old Kentucky
bluegrass country. As the day progresses, Chopin details the tiny minutiae of married life that have
disappointed both Leonce and Edna; Leonce feels hurt by her dismissiveness He thought it very
discouraging that his wife, who was the sole object of his existence, evinced so little interest in things
which concerned him, and valued so little his conversation... while Edna resents his overbearing
conventionality An indescribable oppression, which seemed to generate in some unfamiliar part of her
consciousness, filled her whole being with a vague anguish. The Pontelliers reconcile before Leonce
leaves for New Orleans

1) How is the radiating electric field (or electromagnetic signal) produced when radio stations
broadcast? Include a description of what is producing the signal as well as the reasoning behind how
this could produce a signal. We know that electromagnetic radiation is produced by accelerating
charges. In the radio transmitter, electrons oscillate up and down and are thus accelerating. An electron
will exert a force on another electron when they are some distance away, like charges repel. When the
electron in the transmitter oscillates up and down, the direction of the force it exerts changes since the
source of the force is moving. It takes some time for the change ... Show more content on

5) If the amplitude is increased, what happens to the wavelength? The wavelength stays the same
The amplitude affects the strength of the force, that is the length of the force vectors in the
electromagnetic wave. The wavelength of the wave depends only on the frequency with which the
electron in the transmitting antenna is oscillating up and down; and the speed of light.
Wavelength x Frequency = Speed of Light
6) If the oscillation frequency of the transmitting electron decreases, the oscillation frequency of the
electron in the receiver is instantaneously affected.
It is False:
The electron in the receiving antenna feels only the force resulting from the electromagnetic wave at
its current location. It only receives the transmitting electron because of the effects that the
transmitting electron has on the electromagnetic waves. So the receiving

Hub, transmission of a frame from one station to the node is retransmitted on all of the outgoing links.
In this case, although the arrangement is physically a star, it is logically a bus. In the case of the
central node acting as switch, an incoming frame is processed in the node and then retransmitted on an
outgoing link to the destination station. Ethernet protocols IEEE 802.3 are often used in the Star

What Is The Purpose Of Ephesians
Death in Sin
The title of Ephesians may be a bit misleading because many studies have shown that Ephesians may
have been written to all Christians rather than the Ephesian church exclusively because it is applicable
to the Christian church as a whole. Edgar Goodspeed wrote, The church in Ephesians is always the
church universal, never the individual local church. Although readers of Ephesians today should still
consider the culture and historical background of Ephesus when reading Ephesians, it is important to
realize that this book may have been directed to the whole church in general rather than the church in
Ephesus specifically. Therefore, all believers today should take this passage to heart and interpret the

This plan takes people out of death and brings them into a life of reunion with Christ. This can be hard
for anyone to understand because all people are so underserving of salvation, yet Christ freely offers
it. God s plan for believers is modeled off of Christ s death and resurrection. Bruce writes in his
commentary on Ephesians, not only did God raise Christ from the dead by His mighty power; He has
raised the people of Christ from the dead as well.
Specifically, in Ephesians 2:6, believers are portrayed as already being in the act of sitting with Jesus
Christ. This is not something that will happen or is going to happen, because it already has happened
Christ has already risen His children up to sit up with Him. It is true, Christians do currently reside on
this physical earth, but God has already chosen, redeemed, and sanctified them through His amazing
grace. In Ephesians 2:4 7, Paul attempts to portray the wonderful qualities of our saving God. These
verses say that God has a great love for us, He has expressed kindness to us, He is rich in mercy , and
He showed us His incomparable grace . These kind qualities of God point back to His amazing and
saving act of grace. Although we are sinners and completely undeserving God had a purely selfless
and humble motive behind bringing salvation to His people. This motive is

They all increase the number of collisions.
Fair testing
* To make this a fair test I will only change one variable.
* Each experiment will be done three times so an average can be found.
* The same equipment will be used in each experiment.
Method
· Measure out 50ml of thiosulphate and add it to the conical flask.
· Draw a cross on a piece of paper and place the conical flask on it.
· Measure out 10ml of acid and add it to the conical flask and start timing.
· Look into the top of the conical flask and when the cross can no longer be seen stop the stop watch.
· Do the experiment again but measure out 8ml of hydrochloric acid. Then add 2ml of distilled water.
The ratio for each experiment will therefore be 10:0, 8:2, 6:4, 4:6 and of acid to water
Conclusion
I conclude that whilst carrying out this investigation I found out that the more acid was in the solution
the cross on the paper disappeared quicker. This shows that the more concentrated the acid is then the
quicker the reaction time. My research about the collision theory was correct and the more
concentrated the solution is then the number of collisions will be increased. If the numbers of
collisions are increased then the reaction time will also be increased.
My prediction that the less concentrated the acid is then the longer it will take for the sodium
thiosulphate to react with the acid is correct because experiment number 5

Sterilization In Canada
Canada is a country that is undergoing advancements in all regions day to day. This growth has also
changed the mentality of people towards getting married and having kids, there has been a drastic
decrease in the fertility rate of Canada during the last 100 years; furthermore, the shrinkage of families
are linked to factors like medical advancements, economic trends, historical and psychological reasons
etc. We will discuss some of the major factors a family takes into consideration while planning about
expanding their family.
CHANGES IN LAW
Changes has happened in the areas of birth control, adoption and sterilization during the last decade.
Contraceptives were found illegal, liable to serve a two year jail sentence under the criminal code until
July 1 of 1969 (Mary, 2014), even jailed a druggist in Canada for selling condoms. Women then had to
rely on folk recipes and illegal abstinence to control fertility. Elizabeth bagshaw one of the first female

of undesirable physical and mental conditions which had the fear of inheriting and for the people who

Daniel Deronda Essay
Daniel Deronda
Daniel Deronda, the final novel published by George Eliot, was also her most controversial. Most of
Eliot s prior novels dealt largely with provincial English life but in her final novel Eliot introduced a
storyline for which she was both praised and disparaged. The novel deals not only with the coming of
age of Gwendolyn Harleth, a young English woman, but also with Daniel Deronda s discovery of his
Jewish identity. Through characters like Mirah and Mordecai Cohen, Eliot depicts Jewish cultural
identity in the Victorian period. Reaction to Daniel Deronda exposes the deeply embedded anti
semitism of the period. The story follows the tow main characters over the course of several years as

It was during this time that she began to suffer from the kidney problems that eventually killed her.
She was also plagued by chronic head and tooth aches during this time (Karl, 545). Despite her
physical ailments Eliot meticulously researched the book. She took Hebrew lessons with Emanuel
Deutsch and the character of Mordecai Cohen is said to be based on him. She also read extensively
about Jewish culture and tradition. In a letter Eliot s would be spouse, George Henry Lewes, writes
that of the two buying Judaic books and visiting a synagogue in Frankfurt in the summer of 1873
(Karl, 527).
Daniel Deronda was originally published in a series of monthly installments that appeared in
Blackwood s Magazine between February and September of 1876. Terence Cave notes in his
introduction to the Penguin edition of Daniel Deronda, that the decision to begin in February was
based on the inability to get it to the American market in December and Blackwood s belief that
January wasn t a fit month to publish anything(qtd. in Cave xxii). Eliot was able to stay comfortably

Theme Of Death In The Giver
The Journey Have you ever wondered where you will go when you die? The School by Donald
Barthelme and The Giver by Louis Lowry explore death as a common theme throughout the short
story and the novel. The School is a short story told from the perspective of a teacher at what seems to
be an elementary or middle school. The story, consisting of a mere 1200 words, follows the numerous
tragedies the school faces over roughly a month long timespan. The Giver is a novel about a dystopian
society and is told from the perspective of a young boy named Jonas. The story follows Jonas journey
in becoming the Receiver of Memory at age twelve, which is the normal age to be assigned a career in
this society, and how he learns the truth about the world that he lives in. In The School, death is a very
obvious theme. Barthelme uses death as the central theme and portrays it in a very humorous way.
Whereas in The Giver, death, in terms of it being a theme, is very subtle and serious. This is shown in
numerous ways throughout each story. Though death is treated differently in both The Giver and The
School, and the message behind each work is different, the dystopian aspect connects the stories by
exemplifying the lack of emotion and dehumanization of the characters in each story. In The School,
death is the central theme of the story and is treated as something light and humorous, with the
exception of a couple tone switches throughout the story. Barthelme uses escalation and a perpetually

War Of The Worlds Satire
In 1953, the peak of the Cold War and Communist Red Scare, Byron Haskin released the allegorical
film, The War of the Worlds; a commentary on the anxiety that was ever present due to the Soviet
Union, Communism, and the threat of nuclear war. The film is loosely based on H.G. Well s novel of
the same name, and stars Gene Barry. The War of the Worlds establishes commentary on the
technology and religious beliefs birthed of the 50 s, and the struggle that was created due to the Cold
War in the Age of Anxiety . The beginning of the film narrates about the development of new and
advanced technology that were a result of World War II. The creation and accumulation of such

This is depicted when all electronics and gadgets in the community stop functioning when the
Martians land. The residents appear defenseless. This becomes more complicated and heightened
when they realize that none of their can do absolutely nothing to defend them. Even the atomic bomb
that is dropped, does nothing to harm the Martians because they have a force field around their ship;
they are literally impenetrable. This scene is emblematic of the Iron Curtain that was raised to separate
the Soviet Union from the rest of the world. Once the bomb falls and fails, there are scenes of riots,
looting, and mass hysteria; a physical reflection of the anxiety felt all over the nation during the Cold

Nicole Brown-Simpson Case Study
On June 13, 1994 Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found stabbed to death outside
the Simpson home. The murders would start a chain reaction into what would be known as the Trial of
the Century and become the most watched trial on national television. The prosecution chose to file
this case in Los Angeles instead of Santa Monica, where the crime was committed, due to a poll that
was taken where Caucasians believed Simpson was guilty and African Americans believed he was not
guilty. Three months after the murders the jury pool started with 250 potential jurors with the judge,
the prosecuting and defending lawyers and OJ himself.
Potential jurors had to complete a 79 page questionnaire answering questions such as How do you feel

These questions were used to see if any of these potential jurors were prejudiced against the case, their
own personal opinions were put into play. In order for the jury to be selected, jurors could not have
any personal opinions against the defendant or the case itself. It was found out that African American
females didn t like Nicole Brown Simpson and might be on edge around the prosecutor, who was a
female. After many tests and even reviews of the jurors (body language, their answers during the
questionnaires, etc.) the twelve jurors were selected on November 3; they were 8 African Americans, 2
Hispanics, 1 half Caucasian, half Native American and a Caucasian female along with 15 alternates
for backups.
I think the voir dire was very helpful in this particular case. The judge believed that many jurors were
lying just to be a part of the case and even insisted on having the potential jurors take a polygraph test.
One of the lawyers thought that this might be offensive to some so they chose not to. Having OJ
Simpson within reach during the voir dire was really helpful because that way the lawyers can judge
how a person will act or behave during the trial. The lawyers quickly found out that African American
women didn t like Nicole Brown Simpson because they thought she was using her husband for money

The Social Human Nature And Socialization In Today s Society
In today s society people all over the world can communicate with one another. This is called
socialization, this is when several people can interact with one another. Socialization starts from the
minute you are born and continues with a person for the rest of their lives. Not everyone in this world
can social as easily as others. This is due to the environment they grow up in. If a person grows up
isolated then it it more than obvious they will not act the same way as someone who grew up in a
normal environment.
In the movie Room, Jack the little boy who has always been isolated only socialized with his mom.
His was of socializing was having every single meal with his mom, playing with her, watching tv,
taking a bath and even screaming at the skylight hoping someone would hear them. Even though he
only interacted with Joy, his mom, Jack did learn basic things. Usually a feral child would not be able
to talk, walk or even eat normal foods, but Jack could because he had his mother. This was an
advantage to him, because when they were free he struggled, but it could have been worsed.
Socialization is a part of the human being and it can not be taken away. According to an article named,
The Social Human... Nature vs Nurture Socialization, Nature is how we are affected by our biology,
and nurture is how we are affected by our environment. This is explaining that the nature part of
socialization comes even before you are born. It is passed down to you by your parents. It

Ans Modus Ponens s rule: The standard patterns of inference that can be applied to derive chains of
conclusions that lead to desired goal is called as Modus Ponens s rule.
If there is a rule if A, then B, and if we know that A is true, then it is valid to conclude that B is also
true.

appropriate technique.
4. Both methods involve actions to find the solution for a problem.
For Example: A person wants to go from Point A to Point B. In both firstly we have to know the initial

The Lakota Sioux Of The Sioux Nation
Of all the features upon the earth there are some ascribed with special significance. These features,
whether caves, lakes, deserts, outcroppings, or something else entirely, hold tremendous relevance for
the groups that dwell near them. Such beliefs in the worth and importance of such sites are entrusted
from one passing generation to the next. These beliefs, and the physical objects they rest upon,
become increasingly vital to that group s identity as a people. One such group is the Teton Lakota of
the Sioux Nation in South Dakota, an area that has been home to them for hundreds of years and,
while their entire homeland is precious to them, of particular importance are the Black Hills, or Paha
Sapa as they are called in Lakota.
The Black Hills are an isolated mountain range rising 3000 to 4000 feet above the surrounding plains
of South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana (Sundstrom et al. 1996). The importance of this land to the
Sioux Nation goes beyond dedication to the place they have lived in for generations. The Lakota
creation story itself incorporates the Black Hills in particular as central to their identity as a people.
The Black Hills are not only regarded as the birthplace of Sioux culture in religious songs and
legends, but as the first place created on Earth literally the heart of the Earth, which is seen as Mother.
Sioux spiritual lore utilizes metaphor both to explain and to embody the thing signified the Black Hills
are the heart of the Earth, and that concept is

Pros And Cons Of Agency Theory
Agency theory is concerned with the agency relationships. The two parties have an agency
relationship when they cooperate and engage in association wherein one party the principal delegates
decisions and /or work to another an agent to act on its behalf (Tan Lee, 2015). The important
assumptions underlying agency theory is that potential goal conflicts exists between principals and
agents; each party acts in its own self interest; information asymmetry frequently exists between
principals and agents; agents are more risk averse than the principal; and efficiency is the
effectiveness criterion (Miller Sardais, 2011; Kingston Haijie, 2014). Two potential problems
stemming from this assumption may arise in agency relationships: an agency problem and a risk
sharing problem. An agency problem appears when agents goal differs from the principals and it is
difficult or expensive to verify whether agents have appropriately performed the delegated work.
A risk sharing problem arises when agents have different attitudes towards risk that cause
disagreements about actions to be taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is achieved through improved public service delivery and more informed policy design. In many
countries, especially developing ones, the government fails to deliver key essential services to its
citizens due to problems such as: misallocation of resources, leakages or corruption, weak incentives
or a lack of articulated demand (William, 2002). Similarly, governments often formulate policies in a
discretionary and non transparent manner that goes against the interests and actual priorities of the
poor, these problems are perpetuated because the three key groups of actors in the public policy and
service delivery chain policy makers, service providers and citizens have different (sometimes
conflicting) goals and incentives, compounded by information asymmetries and lack of

The Legal Entity System Has Profoundly Affected The...
1.0 Introduction The legal entity system has profoundly affected the process of human economic and
social development. Needless to say, the connotation of the legal entity system is very rich, and that
the company has an independent personality and shareholders bear the limited liability is the two basic
features (Tweedale, G., Flynn, L., 2007). Of course, the company s independent personality is based
on the separation of corporate property and shareholder property. Under this circumstance, the
company shall enjoy their rights, fulfil obligations, and independently bear civil liability in its own
name (L.C.B., 1992). However, with the development of commodity economy, and the deepening and

3.1.1 Fraud or misrepresentation Fraud or misrepresentation is one of the most frequent factors in
piercing the corporate veil. Fraud is a deliberate concealment of the truth and a false statement leading
the other party to engage in certain acts and causing loss or injury, which can be seen in the case
GILFORD MOTOR Co. v HORNE Ltd. (1933) . Fraud includes civil fraud and criminal fraud, and
fraud is often associated with misrepresentation. Inaccurate statements in the litigation of piercing the
corporate veil generally include misrepresentation of the company s assets and financial conditions, as
well as misrepresentations of paying to the parties. Professor Thompson is of the opinion that when
the act is found to be fraud by the court, the act is often used as evidence to support the
misrepresentation if the fraud claim cannot be substantiated (Hodge, L., Sachs, A., 2008). 3.1.2
Shareholders control and domination In order to pierce the company veil, the plaintiff needs not only
to prove the domination and control behaviour, but also to prove that there is fraud or abuse unfair
form of corporate. In order to pierce the company veil, that shareholders only control/dominate the
company is not enough, and there must be fraud or misrepresentation evidence. In this regard, the
standard of piercing the veil of the company is also particularly stringent. If there is only the fact that
the shareholder is a

The Moral Logic Of Survivor Guilt In The Seventh Man By...
In war, standing here rather than there can save your life but cost a buddy his. It s flukish luck, but you
feel responsible. (Sherman 153). In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt, Nancy Sherman uses this
quote to explain the basis of survivor guilt in war. In The Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami, the
narrator failed to save his closest friend from a wave. As Sherman said in her quote, people often feel
guilty when they survive a situation that others didn t. The narrator s situation in The Seventh Man is a
perfect example of this. Despite his failure to save K., the narrator should still forgive himself.
The Seventh Man was unsuccessful in saving his childhood friend, K. In spite of his lack of success,
he should not have to live with guilt about this for his entire life. In Sherman s editorial, she states
that, Subjective guilt, associated with this sense of responsibility, is thought to be irrational because
one feels guilty despite the fact that he knows he has done nothing wrong. (Sherman 154). The
Seventh Man did not do anything wrong, therefore, if he were to feel guilt, it would be subjective. The
failure to fulfil a task due to fear or another overpowering feeling is not the same as doing something
incorrectly. The Seventh Man says, What made me do this, I m sure, was fear, a fear so overpowering
it took my voice away and set my legs to running on their own. (Murakami 138). This statement
illustrates how he desperately wanted to do the right thing and run to his friend, but his feelings and
subconscious thoughts drove him to do the opposite. This is something a person cannot be blamed for.
Therefore, it would only be reasonable for the Seventh Man to forgive himself for what occurred.
It is simple to argue that the Seventh Man should not forgive himself for failing to save K. One may
assert that the narrator could have physically warned K. by giving him a slight shove or patting him on
the back. Although this is logical, if one were to literally put him or herself in the Seventh Man s
situation, he or she would recognize the overwhelming amount of thoughts running through his head
in the moment. In The Key to Disaster Survival? Friends and Neighbors, Shankar Vedantam reports
about a 2004

Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Shirley Jackson s The Lottery is an excellent example of an allegorical short story. In this story, the
reader learns of a town s lottery that takes place once a year, every year. It has been a tradition in this
small rural town for many years and the villagers never question these activities, they just blindly go
along with it. But what the reader doesn t know is just what kind of prize the winner is going to obtain.
Jackson s use of symbolism is shown through the description of the characters, significant objects, and
the actions in the story. These elements are used to represent the death that is associated with the
lottery.
The first allegorical use is seen through the description ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the blackness makes the reader think of death and evil. The family which draws the black dot on
the paper is the family marked for death. The slips of paper are held in a black box which signifies the
horrible outcome. Everything that is terrible and evil is shown through the color black. If someone
gets the color black, then they are going to die. It s Hutchinson. It s Bill. (236) Everyone in the village
knows what s to come for the Hutchinson family.
The actions involved with the lottery are symbolic also. At the beginning of the story the reader learns
that the children are gathering stones into a big pile. This represents just how unconscious their actions
are. The village is blind to it s own motives. Tessie was fine with the lottery until it was she who was
the chosen one. Tessie becomes the scapegoat for the village. She is a symbol of disobedience and the
other villagers must stone her to death to stop further outbreaks of rebellion against the lottery. They
are unable to articulate their rebellion because the massive force of ideology stands in their way.
Although the villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original black box, they still remembered to
use stones. (238) The tradition is so old that all they care about is stoning the victim without thinking
about how evil the tradition really is.
The Lottery is very allegorical in every sense. After reading this short

Edgar Allen Poe is a widely known writer from the 1800s. Poe aimed at creating a definite emotional
effect and mood in both poetry and short stories. Poe s goal was to make readers feel horror of
premeditated death and, or profound sadness. Edgar Allen Poe s style is characterized by his use of
sound imagery, irony, repeated elements which he uses to create an emotional effect for his readers.
Poe s style is shown by his use of sound imagery in his short story The Tell Tale Heart. In this short
story Poe uses the simile, a low, dull, quick sound, such as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton,
to describe the old man s heartbeat. The emotional effect Poe wants readers to feel in The Tell Tale
Heart is horror of premeditated death. The sound of the old man s heart beating helps create the

Anal Fissure Research Paper
Most people initially become aware they have a tear in the skin around their anus because of the
stinging and burning that occurs when they use the bathroom. These tears are known as anal fissures.
In addition to the pain, sufferers may also notice a small amount of bleeding while using the
bathroom. If this happens to you, you may be aware of when the tear occurred, especially if it was
caused by straining during constipation or passing an especially hard stool.
How Do Anal Fissures Become A Chronic Issue?
For the majority of sufferers, an anal fissure is a minor annoyance that will heal on its own without

This diagnosis may be made by a general practitioner or a proctologist after about six weeks of
symptoms from the tear. If treatment is not applied, chronic anal fissures could exist and continue to
be symptomatic for a year or even longer.
For some sufferers, the issue may lie in the fact that the cause of the tear has not be resolved.
For example, if constipation is a frequent problem, you may need to increase your fiber intake or use a
stool softener regularly. The best option is to discuss how to manage your bowel issues with your
healthcare provider.
Although fissure symptoms typically disappear within an hour or two after using the bathroom, this
type of chronic issue can cause a lot of pain in the meantime. If the tear has not healed by the six week
mark, or has healed and then occured again, a visit to your doctor is the most effective method to
ensure there is not a more serious problem and you find relief quickly.

Private School Vouchers Essay
30 years ago, America was the leader in quantity and quality of high school diplomas. Today, our
nation is ranked 36th in the world. (Coleman, 2013) In the United States, a debate continues about
how to address the issues of the education system. Some conservatives think that it is beneficial to
take money away from public schools and provide students with private school vouchers so they can
choose between private and public schools. While most liberals believe that there is no real choice and
that taxpayer money should go toward strengthening our current public schools. Although some
Americans see an advantage in the voucher program, I believe the U.S Government should eliminate

Public schools are primarily supported by taxpayers. However, when a public school loses a student to
a voucher program, it loses thousands of dollars that help pay for teachers and classroom costs. In this
way, school vouchers take money away from public schools in order to help students compensate for
the immense cost of private schools. Consequently, public schools suffer and are not able to provide
quality services for their students. Furthermore, school vouchers usually only cover the amount that a
typical public school would receive per student. This comes out to around $10,000 to $12,000 per
student. However, this amount is not enough to cover the tuition of most private schools. Many
families feel stuck between paying for the rest of the private school tuition and sending their children
to a struggling public school that is now even worse off because funding is being syphoned off for
vouchers. For this reason, the choice that school vouchers give low income families is only putting
them at a disadvantage. Due to the high cost of private schooling, one would think that student
achievement would increase in this setting, however, this is not the case. An article from

The Causes Of The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party had aroused fury in Britain. One British official said that the people of Boston
ought to be knocked about their ears. King
George III declared, We must master them or totally leave them to them selves and treat them as
aliens. Britain chose to master the colonies.
In 1774, Parliament passed a series of laws to punish the
Massachusetts colony and to serve as a warning to other colonies. The
British called these laws the Coercive Acts, but they were so harsh that the colonists called them the
Intolerable Acts.
One of the acts would close the port of Boston until colonists paid for the destroyed tea. Others
banned committees of correspondence, allowed
Britain to house troops wherever necessary, and let British officials accused of crimes in the colonies
stand trial in Britain. To enforce the acts,
Parliament appointed General Thomas Gage governor of Massachusetts.
In 1773, Sam Adams had written, I wish we could arouse the con tinent. The Intolerable Acts

My Learning Disability
If I was invited to an interview for a new job, I would choose not to disclose my learning disability to
the interviewer. Despite the fact that there are many upsides to disclosure, I personally feel as though
the cons outweigh the pros. Some of the cons include embarrassment, loss of independence, and
overall discrimination you may face from employers. First of all, sharing that you have a learning
disability can be very nerve wracking or even embarrassing for some. People aren t always accepting,
and they may see you as someone who you re truly not. This ties into the second reason why I wouldn
t disclose my learning disability in a job interview: loss of independence. When people find out that
you have a learning disability, sometimes they

The Hughes Aircraft Case
Introduction
Repeatedly in the history of engineering have engineers been faced with the dilemma of deciding
whether they should take action to correct wrongdoing by a party directly involved in their work [].
The dilemma boils down to an ethical or moral debate. The engineers must choose between their
allegiance to their employers and clients, or to the public they serve with their work. In many
jurisdictions the option for engineers to take action, or blow the whistle, in these situations has
become a required action, bound by the code of ethics many engineers are bound to uphold.
However, even with legislation making the practice mandatory, many engineers practice in fear of
having to blow the whistle []. Many engineers consider the act ... Show more content on

Following the criminal case there was typically a civil suit following, where the engineers were often
remunerated for the damages they incurred in the process of blowing the whistle on their employers [].
In the Hughes Aircraft case, the engineers were paid $891 000 for damages plus reimbursed for the
nearly half million dollars in legal fees incurred in the civil suit [].
What stands out in the Hughes case is that many of the illegal actions were either performed or
ordered by a specific executive within the company. The actions of this executive, and those under
him cost the company nearly $10 million in fines and remuneration [].
However, if there had been an effective means for the engineers to blow the whistle effectively, it is
possible that the company could have dealt with the matter internally at a much earlier stage. Dealing
with a potential safety concern with a project at the time of complaint could have far less negative
impact on a company than facing the aftermath of a disaster. This argument could certainly be shown
in the landmark engineering whistle blowing cases: the BART Train Control incident in 1972 and the
Space Shuttle Challenger disaster of 1986 [,].

Consequences And Symbolism In John Updike s A P
In A P , the author John Updike utilizes symbolism, point of view, setting, and imagery to convey the
message of choices and consequences in Sammy s life. The protagonist, Sammy, makes immature
decisions that he believes that s what adults do. But what he thinks is an act of courage and chivalry
doesn t catch Queenie and her friends attention, but he still facing the consequences of his child like
behavior. Throughout the story the author John Updike depicts Sammy s character as someone
judgmental towards other people. Such as his co workers, customers and even family. He s constantly
judging others, whether it be their looks or their way of being; She s one of those cash register
watchers, a witch about fifty with rouge on her cheekbones and no eyebrows... . Implying that this
woman has nothing better to do with her daily life than to be there to bother him. In addition, Sammy
also refers to one of his coworker s attitude towards the girls. Sammy seems to be criticizing them;
forgetting that he himself has been doing the same thing to the girls since they walked in the store. All
that was left for us to see was old McMahon patting his mouth and looking after them sizing up their
joints. He later goes on and says he s starting to feel sorry for the girls. Not realizing he was making
the same mistake as his coworker. Finally, Sammy is also very quick to judge the main girl Queenie to
be of a higher social class just based on how she speaks. Her voice kind of startled me,

Lumbar Disc Pathology A Literature Review on Pertinent Imaging Findings for Lumbar Disc Pathology What these Images Are Holding to Guide in Physical Therapy Treatments Physical therapists provide a multi approach in treatment of discogenic low back pain. Most of the common approaches available include manual therapy, lumbar stabilization, yoga, swimming and traction. Depending on the stage and severity of disk pathology, it is mostly a therapist s preference when it comes to what intervention is applied. There are no clear cut, well defined practice guidelines as when is it more meaningful and effective to choose manual therapy for this stage of disc pathology, versus that of traction for another phase. Hence, this literature study will try to look into the more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are some important concepts such as avoidance of axial loading when prescribing exercises to patients with disc pathology as this is strongly related to degenerative changes although there is no gold standard tool for measuring lumbar compression load (Hung, Y.J.et al., 2014). Hours spent sitting significantly increased the prevalence of disc herniation. Sitting is also associated with loss of the lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc (IVD) compression, and height loss, possibly increasing the risk of lower back pain (Fryer, J.C., Quon, J. A., Smith, F. W. (2010). Hence, offering variable positions when exercising patients best minimizes seated exercises. Little is known about the correlation between the extent of disc herniation and clinical signs and symptoms, neither were there any reported correlation between improvement in functions nor the pain reduction as visually reported, other than the reduction in sizes of disc herniation among the four segment levels (L2 L3 = n 6, L3 L4 n=17, L4 L5 n= 51 c, and L5 S1 n= 4), indicative of morphological regression of herniated disk during their repeated MR as reported by the research of Unlu, Tasci, Tarhan, Pabuscu, Islak in 2008. The formation of protostars requires huge clouds of gas and dust collapsing under gravitational forces. The stage of a protostar last an approximate of 50 million years. As stars grow, they also expand. When the core runs out of hydrogen and helium, the contacts and outer layers of the core expand, become cold, and the brightness decreases. This is also known as a Red Giant or a Red Supergiant which mainly consists of the star s mass. After a while of beginning the process of its death it goes through other stages. • 7. Throughout the centuries, social class and mobility has... Throughout the centuries, social class and mobility has always been a big concern for Americans. Today, social mobility has been known to be roughly the same over the past few decades. Social mobility, to begin with, is defined as a movement, either upward or downward, in social class. The social mobility is greatly influenced by the level of openness within a society, in which a person can gain their social status by their own efforts. We often think to ourselves that the United States is a place with a lot of social mobility and equal opportunities. However, that is ironically not true. Another barrier to social mobility is income inequality, which have grown greatly since the early 1970s. It s no longer the case that anyone that works hard and plays by the rules can get ahead. For this project, I choose to interview a coworker, one who I had not taken the time to ask about his religion/beliefs prior to this project. I am a non practicing, non religious person. I spent a morning talking to Stanley. He identifies as a non denominational Christian. He not only has strong religious beliefs, he is a pastor in the community. He often spends his free time going to church, home calls and to the hospital to pray and help those in need with religious counseling. He is highly dedicated to his beliefs. As he responded to my questions to further understand the difference between his life and my own, it was apparent he is unwavering and set in his beliefs. • 10. The Creation Of The Church The landscape of the church has changed greatly since the early days of the 1st century. The small groups, seen in the Book of Acts, have been replaced by large centralized denominations and religious institutions, and in the process, the idea that the Body of Christ is a family has been relegated into large groups of strangers. The early church was a family unit that extended far beyond the ideals and principles experienced in the church today (Sprinkle, 2015). The 1st century church exemplified fellowship, commitment, and service to others and was held together by an unconditional bond made possible by Jesus Christ (Sprinkle, 2015). The church in Acts was also devoid of hierarchy and actual buildings, except for synagogues. Christians, in the 1st century, were neither militaristic nor voracious for power; instead, they looked to the cross and overcame evil through suffering and love, rather than weaponry (Sprinkle, 2015). Early Christians took the church to the people as Christ intended, as such; it was not uncommon for many to gather in the homes of others or any other place suitable for fellowship, worship, and the study of God s Word. The church was more about people, rather than the four walls containing the people of the modern day church (Sprinkle, 2015). Characteristics of the early church comprised of total acceptance of others, complete fellowship with God, and the spiritual dynamics of teaching, eating together, praying together, singing together, and even ... • 11. The Importance Of Football Uniforms Football Uniform What if football players did not wear uniforms? Football teams would look discombobulated, and Football players would not be able to specify who is on which team during a game. A football uniform has so many different components. Football uniforms have three main sections: a lower body section, a torso, and a helmet section. Each section includes different equipment and items that make up each part. Some of pieces of the uniform are strictly for enhancing performance, while others are for improving style, but every part is important to a football uniform. First, football players wear important uniform pieces on their lower body. The lower body part of a football uniform contains tights, a girdle, football pants, a towel, and cleats. The first piece of the lower body section of a uniform are tights. Tights are tight fitting pants that fit to a player s legs, hence the name tights. Tights are skin tight and keep the leg muscles stable and cool. Tights also posses a component of style. Tights come in all different colors and can bring a uniform together. For example, players on the Minnesota Vikings all wear purple tights that look awesome. The next part of the lower body is a girdle. A girdle is used strictly for keeping players safe by protecting the hips and thighs. In a way, a girdle is practically underwear with pads. The next important piece of the lower body are football pants. Football pants go just below the knees and are tighter fitting around the legs. Football pants are built to endure hits and rough games, and they have knee pads to add protection. A belt loops around the pants to keep the pants from falling down. Football pants vary in color depending on the team color and style choice. Football pants also bring a football uniform together by giving the uniform a solid pop in color. Following the football pants, the next part of the lower body is the towel. The towel is a small, rectangular, white towel that velcros around the belt. Towels are both useful and good looking. Players use towels to keep their hands dry so that they can throw and catch the football to the best of their ability. Towels also give a football uniform a flash of style. Waverly Leonard Part I Reading Journal, ch.s 1 13 Plot Summary: These first thirteen chapters chronicle the daily life of Edna Pontellier, The Awakening s protagonist. The novel opens on Mr. Pontellier; he is smoking a cigar and reading the newspaper while idly observing the life and activity around him. The novel turns its attention to his wife, Edna Pontellier. She is described as rather handsome than beautiful and has a face with a certain frankness of expression, an intriguing description if there ever was one. She is accompanied by Robert Lebrun, the son of Madame Lebrun, the owner of the house at which the Creole aristocracy stayed on the Grand Isle. They are rather close companions; Robert has chosen to follow her around for the summer, as is later revealed to be his custom. It s revealed that Edna is an American woman from the old Kentucky bluegrass country. As the day progresses, Chopin details the tiny minutiae of married life that have disappointed both Leonce and Edna; Leonce feels hurt by her dismissiveness He thought it very discouraging that his wife, who was the sole object of his existence, evinced so little interest in things which concerned him, and valued so little his conversation... while Edna resents his overbearing conventionality An indescribable oppression, which seemed to generate in some unfamiliar part of her consciousness, filled her whole being with a vague anguish. Electromagnetic Radiation and Electron Nietkalieva Dinara IS113k Lab 1: Radio and Light Waves Virtual Lab 1) How is the radiating electric field (or electromagnetic signal) produced when radio stations broadcast? Include a description of what is producing the signal as well as the reasoning behind how this could produce a signal. We know that electromagnetic radiation is produced by accelerating charges. In the radio transmitter, electrons oscillate up and down and are thus accelerating. An electron will exert a force on another electron when they are some distance away, like charges repel. When the electron in the transmitter oscillates up and down, the direction of the force it exerts changes since the source of the force is moving. It takes some time for the change ... The wavelength stays the same The amplitude affects the strength of the force, that is the length of the force vectors in the electromagnetic wave. The wavelength of the wave depends only on the frequency with which the electron in the transmitting antenna is oscillating up and down; and the speed of light. Wavelength x Frequency = Speed of Light 6) If the oscillation frequency of the transmitting electron decreases, the oscillation frequency of the electron in the receiver is instantaneously affected. • 23. Theme Of Death In The Giver The Journey Have you ever wondered where you will go when you die? The School by Donald Barthelme and The Giver by Louis Lowry explore death as a common theme throughout the short story and the novel. The School is a short story told from the perspective of a teacher at what seems to be an elementary or middle school. The story, consisting of a mere 1200 words, follows the numerous tragedies the school faces over roughly a month long timespan. The Giver is a novel about a dystopian society and is told from the perspective of a young boy named Jonas. The story follows Jonas journey in becoming the Receiver of Memory at age twelve, which is the normal age to be assigned a career in this society, and how he learns the truth about the world that he lives in. In The School, death is a very obvious theme. Barthelme uses death as the central theme and portrays it in a very humorous way. Whereas in The Giver, death, in terms of it being a theme, is very subtle and serious. This is shown in numerous ways throughout each story. Though death is treated differently in both The Giver and The School, and the message behind each work is different, the dystopian aspect connects the stories by exemplifying the lack of emotion and dehumanization of the characters in each story. The murders would start a chain reaction into what would be known as the Trial of the Century and become the most watched trial on national television. The prosecution chose to file this case in Los Angeles instead of Santa Monica, where the crime was committed, due to a poll that was taken where Caucasians believed Simpson was guilty and African Americans believed he was not guilty. After many tests and even reviews of the jurors (body language, their answers during the questionnaires, etc.) the twelve jurors were selected on November 3; they were 8 African Americans, 2 Hispanics, 1 half Caucasian, half Native American and a Caucasian female along with 15 alternates for backups. I think the voir dire was very helpful in this particular case. The judge believed that many jurors were lying just to be a part of the case and even insisted on having the potential jurors take a polygraph test. One of the lawyers thought that this might be offensive to some so they chose not to. This is called socialization, this is when several people can interact with one another. Socialization starts from the minute you are born and continues with a person for the rest of their lives. Not everyone in this world can social as easily as others. This is due to the environment they grow up in. If a person grows up isolated then it it more than obvious they will not act the same way as someone who grew up in a normal environment. These features, whether caves, lakes, deserts, outcroppings, or something else entirely, hold tremendous relevance for the groups that dwell near them. Such beliefs in the worth and importance of such sites are entrusted from one passing generation to the next. These beliefs, and the physical objects they rest upon, become increasingly vital to that group s identity as a people. One such group is the Teton Lakota of the Sioux Nation in South Dakota, an area that has been home to them for hundreds of years and, while their entire homeland is precious to them, of particular importance are the Black Hills, or Paha Sapa as they are called in Lakota. The Black Hills are an isolated mountain range rising 3000 to 4000 feet above the surrounding plains of South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana (Sundstrom et al. 1996). The importance of this land to the Sioux Nation goes beyond dedication to the place they have lived in for generations. The Lakota creation story itself incorporates the Black Hills in particular as central to their identity as a people. The Black Hills are not only regarded as the birthplace of Sioux culture in religious songs and legends, but as the first place created on Earth literally the heart of the Earth, which is seen as Mother. • 31. Pros And Cons Of Agency Theory Agency theory is concerned with the agency relationships. The two parties have an agency relationship when they cooperate and engage in association wherein one party the principal delegates decisions and /or work to another an agent to act on its behalf (Tan Lee, 2015). The important assumptions underlying agency theory is that potential goal conflicts exists between principals and agents; each party acts in its own self interest; information asymmetry frequently exists between principals and agents; agents are more risk averse than the principal; and efficiency is the effectiveness criterion (Miller Sardais, 2011; Kingston Haijie, 2014). Two potential problems stemming from this assumption may arise in agency relationships: an agency problem and a risk sharing problem. An agency problem appears when agents goal differs from the principals and it is difficult or expensive to verify whether agents have appropriately performed the delegated work. A risk sharing problem arises when agents have different attitudes towards risk that cause disagreements about actions to be taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Needless to say, the connotation of the legal entity system is very rich, and that the company has an independent personality and shareholders bear the limited liability is the two basic features (Tweedale, G., Flynn, L., 2007). Of course, the company s independent personality is based on the separation of corporate property and shareholder property. Fraud is a deliberate concealment of the truth and a false statement leading the other party to engage in certain acts and causing loss or injury, which can be seen in the case GILFORD MOTOR Co. v HORNE Ltd. (1933) . Fraud includes civil fraud and criminal fraud, and fraud is often associated with misrepresentation. Inaccurate statements in the litigation of piercing the corporate veil generally include misrepresentation of the company s assets and financial conditions, as well as misrepresentations of paying to the parties. Professor Thompson is of the opinion that when the act is found to be fraud by the court, the act is often used as evidence to support the misrepresentation if the fraud claim cannot be substantiated (Hodge, L., Sachs, A., 2008). 3.1.2 Shareholders control and domination In order to pierce the company veil, the plaintiff needs not only to prove the domination and control behaviour, but also to prove that there is fraud or abuse unfair form of corporate. • 33. The Moral Logic Of Survivor Guilt In The Seventh Man By... In war, standing here rather than there can save your life but cost a buddy his. It s flukish luck, but you feel responsible. (Sherman 153). In The Moral Logic of Survivor Guilt, Nancy Sherman uses this quote to explain the basis of survivor guilt in war. In The Seventh Man by Haruki Murakami, the narrator failed to save his closest friend from a wave. As Sherman said in her quote, people often feel guilty when they survive a situation that others didn t. The narrator s situation in The Seventh Man is a perfect example of this. Despite his failure to save K., the narrator should still forgive himself. The Seventh Man was unsuccessful in saving his childhood friend, K. In spite of his lack of success, he should not have to live with guilt about this for his entire life. In Sherman s editorial, she states that, Subjective guilt, associated with this sense of responsibility, is thought to be irrational because one feels guilty despite the fact that he knows he has done nothing wrong. (Sherman 154). The Seventh Man did not do anything wrong, therefore, if he were to feel guilt, it would be subjective. The failure to fulfil a task due to fear or another overpowering feeling is not the same as doing something incorrectly. The Seventh Man says, What made me do this, I m sure, was fear, a fear so overpowering it took my voice away and set my legs to running on their own. (Murakami 138). This statement illustrates how he desperately wanted to do the right thing and run to his friend, but his feelings and subconscious thoughts drove him to do the opposite. This is something a person cannot be blamed for. Therefore, it would only be reasonable for the Seventh Man to forgive himself for what occurred. It is simple to argue that the Seventh Man should not forgive himself for failing to save K. One may assert that the narrator could have physically warned K. by giving him a slight shove or patting him on the back. Although this is logical, if one were to literally put him or herself in the Seventh Man s situation, he or she would recognize the overwhelming amount of thoughts running through his head in the moment. However, when a public school loses a student to a voucher program, it loses thousands of dollars that help pay for teachers and classroom costs. Consequently, public schools suffer and are not able to provide quality services for their students. Furthermore, school vouchers usually only cover the amount that a typical public school would receive per student. This comes out to around $10,000 to $12,000 per student. However, this amount is not enough to cover the tuition of most private schools. Many families feel stuck between paying for the rest of the private school tuition and sending their children to a struggling public school that is now even worse off because funding is being syphoned off for vouchers.
