An Efficient Way Transmit Codes
Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after World
War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for codes. The USA
had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were easy to train, and a
abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code talkers. Until Philip Johnston,
he was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a kid and into his teens he grew up on
a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all the time that Johnston spent of the
reservation he became familiar with the people and their language. With the use of the Navajos it
grained equality for Native Americans which was not found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them
a greater respect by the whites into today s age. In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes
of the settlers as pests, people who occupy the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were
thought of as savages. However this was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only
willing to fight for their land, families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years
(Robert A. Roessel, 1). In this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who
were in position of authority and control. This is because Americans lacked the understanding of the
Navajo way, leading to be fatal for many as they were being transferred, resigned,

Memories And The Formation Of Reality
In film, flashbacks are interruptions that take the narrative back in time from the current point in the
story. They are often used to provide background and context to recount current events of a narrative
filling in crucial backstories. In its basic form, the flashback is introduced when a presented image
dissolves to another image of the past, which can be either as a story being told or a subjective
memory. (Turim, pg. 1) For example, dream sequences and memories are methods used to present
flashbacks. They become visual representation to the audience as an act of remembering past
experiences of reality. Imagination also plays an important role in shaping the mind and the story
similar to memories and the formation of reality. Imagination is usually integrated into animation as
an artistic creation to express the artists ideas or memory. But where does the use of imagination and
memories stop? By examining memory represented in animation and film, through Bartlett s theory of
schema, we can see how the film develops an active organized method to recognize reality through
memory. This paper is examining five films based on the theme of memory, thus arguing that
imagination does not distorted memory in animation, but create a role as a form of embellishment for
the film to help memory. Fredrick Bartlett is a British psychologist from Cambridge University, based
on his book Remembering (1932) that focused on how people made sense of what was being
remembered. The

The Story Of The Great Story Late August And School
It s late August and school is about to start, everyone s thinking of the great story s their going to tell
their friends when they get back. I had the perfect story to tell, my dad had just bought a motorcycle
for my brother and me. The story, started off with a garage sale. In my family we all get together to
help the Grandparents of the family have a garage sale. We were all together at the end of the day,
except my dad, and Aunt and Uncle, who were in the Cities. They were coming back to day, much to
our excitement. The sun was setting behind the big maple tree in the front yard, and a dark truck, with
its headlights shining through the darkness was coming our way. Dads back! my brother yelled in
excitement, catching everyone s attention. We ran out to go meet the truck as it came to a stop. Our
dad got out and told us he has a surprise for us. We followed him back around to the back of the truck.
Dad pulled the tail gate down, and I looked on in surprise. It s a motorcycle! Mom s not going to be
happy. Those were the first thoughts that came to mind as the miniature motorcycle was being lifted
out of the truck. It looked just like the motorcycles I d seen around town but smaller, the perfect size
for kids. It was cherry red and about 3 feet long and 2 feet high, it looked so small but awesome none
the less. We didn t get to drive the motorcycle that day because it needed to be tuned and my dad
wanted to make sure it safe for us to drive. After we

How Far Had the Bolsheviks Created a Totalitarian State ...
A totalitarian state, is a where the central government of a state does not tolerate any parties with
opposing views and exercises complete dictatorial rule over all or most aspects of life. Lenin, the
leader of the Bolsheviks, took many measures in an attempt to create a totalitarian state, including the
dissolution of Constituent Assembly, the use of decrees and the establishment of a secret police group
called the Cheka. However there were also some ways in which he failed to achieve full
totalitarianism. The most basic characteristics of a Totalitarian state, are lack of free speech and state
control over the media. This is important to establish social control over the state. Lenin s described
free speech as bourgeois prejudice , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The creation of the secret police and the establishment of the gulags and labour camps, are signs that
Lenin had created a successful totalitarian state, and could assert physical control over the people. The
introduction of War Communism during the Russian Civil War, is evidence of Russian moving
towards a Totalitarian State. Many aspects of War communism were totalitarian in nature. For instance
the creation of a Supreme Economic Council, formed to take complete control over the Russian
highlights the central control over the most vital aspect of the state, that the Bolsheviks enforced.
Other measures include the requisitioning of excess grain from the Peasants. Many of these policies
were met with opposition, particularly among the agricultural peasants. This opposition was in turn
met with brutal force, which was another example of the nature of complete state authority. War
communism continued on until the end of the Civil war, by which time the Bolshevik forces had
succeeded in crushing all opposition. The success of the red forces meant that Russia was a step closer
in becoming a Totalitarian state, as they were now the most powerful party in Russia, with complete
control over all its territory. Upon the creation of the USSR, Lenin introduced new rule that would
ensure greater totalitarian control. Only communists would be able to stand for the soviets, and so this
meant that the communist party had the true control over the

There s often memorials and monuments commemorating heroes in wars or battles taken place in the
world. They re often of famous leaders or generals; however, this isn t always the case. One of the
most well known photos from WWII wasn t even of anyone that people knew. it wasn t a battle scene

II, which lasted from 1939 to 1945, the casualties were great. Over 60 million people s lives were lost;
419,400 of them being Americans. So many Americans lives were lost and it truly took a toll on the

For the longest time, people had thought that Edith Shain was the woman in the picture, but she was

German Aggression Dbq Essay
It is heavily debated that the display of German aggression inevitably contributed to the outbreak of
general European tensions, and war in 1914. The use of strategies such as the Anglo German Naval
Race, as stated in Joll s source, highlighted the aggression by Germany prior to war. Moreover, this
type of tactic also demonstrated the desire and hunger Germany obtained for continental power,
another factor towards European tensions. The sources in question both support and contest the set
statement, to an extent. Sources 1 and 3 by Corrigan and Joll, respectively, argue how Germany s use
of tactics agitated European powers, thus causing war. However, Source 2 by Turner disagrees with
the statement, arguing how other European powers were to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Joll contrasts with Turner, arguing how the German strategy of aggression via the arms race led to
general war; Arms race, in which all major powers were involved contributed to the sense that war
was bound to come, sooner rather than later . The quote implies that the use of the Arms Race was a
major factor towards the inevitable war, also highlighting the aggression of Germany. Additonally, the
source indicates the turbulent effect of the arms race on the nation; it caused serious financial
difficulties for all governments involved . This demonstrates the severe impact of German aggression
and how it had some severe flaws, despite hoping that the race would make for peace rather than war .
A prime example of the consequences of German aggression was the July Crisis in 1914. The crisis
led to severe consequences between Germany and other nations. The unconditional support by
Germany for Austria Hungary aka blank cheque led to an increase in the chances of armed conflict
and higher chances of war occurring. Overall, this is evident that Germany s involvement in other
nations conflict only spurred the chances of war. In support of Joll, Corrigan and Fischer also
highlight how German aggression was creating war. Moreover, the historians also concluded how
Germany were adamant that the war would create two things in German favour power via annexation
and armament. However, Joll highlights the

The Id, Ego, and Super-Ego in T.S. Eliot’s The Love Song...
T.S. Eliot s poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is inhabited by both a richly developed world
and character and one is able to categorize the spaces in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock to
correspond to Prufrock s mind. Eliot uses the architecture of the three locations described in the text to
explore parts of Prufrock s mind in the Freudian categories of id, ego, and super ego; the city that is
described becomes the Ego, the room where he encounters women his Id and the imagined ocean
spaces his Super Ego. Eliot is vague in his suggestion of Prufrock s audience, only referring to the
listener once using you and I; (1) however, by analyzing Eliot s intertextual inclusion of the passage
from Dante s Inferno and Prufock s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These issues the introversion, the self degradation are joined by a myriad of other psychological
disturbances that are all derived from inability to fulfill sexual desire. The poem becomes an
introspective examining of the faults in the mind of a man. By including the quote from Dante s
Inferno, and creating a character that is so introverted Eliot suggests that Prufrock is examining his
own mind and delving into the most delicate of problems. If one applies the Freudian concepts of id,
ego, and super ego to Prufrock s troubled mind, a clear delineation of three sections is made in the
poem. A short explanation of id ego and super ego is necessary in connecting them to the spaces in the
text. Freud s theory stemmed from a need to classify the parts of the mind . From this stems the
organization of personality into three parts all of which are demonstrated in the Love Song of J. Alfred
Prufrock . The id is the impulsively and instinctually driven section of Freud s personality complex
and is based on seeking pleasure. An especially important factor for Prufrock is that the id
encompasses is sexual desire. It is largely accountable for the unconscious mind. The ego is the most
rationalized and outward facing of the personalities that creates a practical approach in

Professional Conduct for Nurses in Australia). This means that it is the responsibility of a nurse to
maintain the competence which is required for the current practice. In the practitioner s case, her

The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War
Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the
purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been
engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare
should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the
dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have
governance over warfare as a whole. For the purposes of understanding governance over privatized
warfare, there are three major time periods that should be reviewed: The Middle Ages, the Rise of the
State, and Post Cold War society. In an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though there has not been global governance over the Private Military Corporation, there were
some attempts at global governance over privatized violence as a whole. Two major international
documents which contribute to the discussion on global governance over privatized war happen to be:
The United Nation s International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of
Mercenaries and the International Committee of the Red Cross s Montreux Document. The creation of
these documents have also been impacted by non state actors such as committees or regional groups.
Governance of the Mercenary Mercenaries have existed for years before the Middle Ages, and have
continued well into the 20th century. During the Middle Ages, the political system of feudalism, and
the economies contributed greatly to the prominence and strength of Mercenaries. It is also worth
noting that because of the strength and prominence of Mercenaries, it was hard to have governance
over these entities. The rise of the State fundamentally shifted the way privatized war was looked at.
With the rise of the State, warfare shifted from the private sector into the hands

Hedonistic Treadmill Research
Thousands of kilograms of plastic enter the oceans every minute. However, consumers do not see the
severity of their consumptive lifestyles. Instead, they go to their favorite coffee shop, order a drink and
then throw away the cup once they are done. Many do not look for recycling bins, and almost all
consumers do not think about where their garbage goes after they throw it away. A majority of
consumers simply think their old coffee cups fill in a landfill, but what many do not know is that some
people consume up to 11,000 pieces of plastic a year along with their seafood (Walsh, Formanek, Loo

and one of the first things he did was to put pressure on his accountants to reallocate some of the

The loss of jobs can have a devastating impact on a community and on the morale of remaining

(b) It is not unusual to reevaluate fixed cost allocations periodically. However, the allocation should be
based on the underlying economics of the situation rather than the motives of individuals.

The Sociological Perspective Or Imagination, Cite Its...
1 Define the sociological perspective or imagination, cite its components, and explain how they were
defined by C. Wright Mills. The sociological Taboo (or imagination) is defined as a way of thinking
that help us use external information and experience to form theories about the social pattern around
us. We collect data and from that information, we make judgments and predictions. These require
going beyond one s point of view. People s life and experiences are different. Therefore, it is important
to take into consideration their reasoning and thoughts to be able to understand why they act the way
they do. Hearing others stories and theories help us distant our self and creating a broader perspective.
The saying never criticizes someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes is the best way to
interpret sociological imagination. Its components include jobs, income, education, gender, race
ethnicity, and age. C. Wright Mills defined sociological perspective as the ability to think yourself
away from the familiar routines of everyday life and the vivid awareness of the relationship between
experience and the wider society. He explained the difference between personal and social issues. For
example, if a man is looking for employment and is not hired this will become a personal failure, but
at the moment, this same man stands at the unemployment line and realize he is part of a significant
percentage of unemployed people, these will become a public issue. A

Analyzing How Big Data Analytics Is Used For Today s Data...
troduction
Every day, we produce 2.5 quintillion bytes of data. 90% of all data in the world was produced in the
past two years. Data has been around forever; we have always gathered information. Paleolithic
cavemen recorded their activities by carving them in stone or notching them in sticks. Egyptians used
hieroglyphics to record significant events in history. The Library of Alexandria was home to half a
million scrolls of the ancient world. Less than hundred years ago, we used punch cards to record and
store information. As technology continues to evolve, the amount of data we store continues to grow.
We ve come a long way since stone tablets, scrolls, and punch cards. It s important to understand the
concept of big data and the impact is has created. This paper will define the classifications of data,
explain the challenges of big data, and describe how big data analytics is being used in today s data
driven world.
Classifying Data
Data can be classified into three distinct categories: structured, unstructured, and semi structured. It is
important to understand these classifications and the challenges they present.
Structured data follows a specific pattern of organization and is easy to access, manage, and store. It
fits nicely into rows and columns of traditional database management systems.
Unstructured data is unorganized; it follows no specific pattern or order.
It does not fit into rows and columns and cannot be easily accessed, processed or searched. This type

Free Trade And Trade Agreements
Free Trade
Free trade is a policy in which the government does not interfere against imports or impedes with
exports by applying tariffs (Encyclopedia, 2015). Free trade is about removing barriers like tariffs,
quotas, and other restrictions. Tariffs are taxes that the countries enforce on imported goods and
services, they are set in place to make trade harder. This ultimately causes the price of goods and
services for consumers to be more expensive. Quotas are a limited quantity countries put on imports
and exports. Barriers to trade is a government limitation on the amount of international goods and

North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Tran Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), and
the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T TIP). There are many advantages and
disadvantages with free trade agreements. The North American Free Trade Agreement was

the largest free zone which sets the groundwork for a stronger economic development as well as the

NAFTA has removed tariffs and non tariff barriers such as quotas, licensing and other limitations.

Alliances Will Determine The Fate Of The Chickasaw Tribe
Alliances will determine the fate of the Chickasaw tribe. During the Revolutionary war, Payamataha,
the Chickasaw foreign diplomat, decided that maintaining peace and neutrality would better benefit
the tribe and preserve the Chickasaw people and land. With Independence Lost by Kathleen DuVal,
Payamataha decision to stay out of the Revolutionary War and advocate peace led to the defeat of the
British and results in the loss of the Chickasaw land by the Americans. During the Seven Years War,
the Chickasaws suffered many casualties and loss of resources while fighting off the French. Due to
the many casualties, Payamataha felt that his strategy of peace would benefit the Chickasaws the most.
However, Payamataha did not anticipate that the alliance with the British would affect the Americans
view; no matter how minuscule the Chickasaws actions were.
The Chickasaws made many mistakes during the Revolutionary War. Although Payamataha made
resolutions of maintaining peace, the Chickasaws still made an alliance with the British without
making the intentions clear. Despite the alliance, the Chickasaw did everything possible to stay out of
the war while still staying on the good side of the British. While reassuring the British of the alliance
in Mobile, Payamataha used his time to secure peace with other Indian Nations such as the Creeks,
Choctaws, Cherokees, and Quapaws. In 1777 Payamataha sent a commission across the Mississippi to

Research Plan on Palm Oil Destruction Essay examples
My idea was to make a video of some sort, some kind of an educational video. I decided that my area
of interaction would be Environment. I narrowed it down to two topics which were : Palm Oil
Destruction and China Pollution. I already knew quite a lot about both of the topics, but I decided to
go with a topic that affects us and the world. Therefore, I chose Palm Oil Destruction which affects us
in many ways. I will make a video about an environmental issue and post it on Youtube, to gain
awareness and to learn more about this topic, those are my goals. Palm is one of the largest on going

I planned to reach my goal by keeping in mind the specifications I had set out to achieve. I focused on
one topic the whole time which was Environmental harm that Palm Oil was causing. I also have to
meet all my due dates and not procrastinate. First step was to get all the research done. I had some
great sources that combined really well to form the whole outline of my video as well as the body of
the video. I then started making my video which took me some time as I was working with a new
program. I also ran into some problems but I was still able to meet my due date. Since I am not a tech
person my video didn t turn out amazing or anything but it had all the important information so I think
the viewer understood the message. My other goal was to cover every aspect of palm oil such as; how
it affects the environment, and how it affects people. My main specifications are: to meet all my due
dates I set out for myself, find well rounded information on Palm oil and create a video that has all the
information I that covers everything.
Selection of Sources: I used 8 different sources that each focused on a different aspect of Palm Oil.
Source A was by far my favorite source it had all the information and it was organized very well. I
used that as my outline for my video, I just added more information from other sources. Some sources

The Moral Disagreement on Capital Punishment (Death Penalty)
Using Democratic Deliberation to Resolve the Moral Disagreement on Capital Punishment (Death
Penalty)
Common American experience seems to suggest that a solution to every dilemma can be found
through enough lobbying, legislating, media blitzing or politicking. We often believe that the person
arguing most eloquently, reasonably or forcefully will win every dispute, yet there are times when this
optimism fails. Despite great efforts to show the strength of a position, there are arguments that we
cannot untangle simply by proving our right and another s wrong. Some moral questions permit such
different outlooks that holders of completely opposing views can both be morally sound. Rather than
trying to reason away one side we can only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants in such discussion can arrive at an understanding of their differing views and gain respect
for the variation that exists, the first steps towards solving the moral questions that seem unsolvable.
To lead towards any justifiable outcome, deliberation must abide by certain guidelines of respect, open
mindedness and accommodation. At the heart of the debate must be a genuine acknowledgement that
opponents views, though disagreeing with our own, are just as morally sound. In granting this we must
also approach the discussion with a willingness to change our opinions if discussion reveals a stronger
moral position. Deliberation relies on rational participants who do not blindly cling to prior beliefs
despite evidence favoring other ones. If, however, deliberators cannot justify leaving their positions
after fair consideration, they must make concessions to the opposing side without sacrificing their own
views. By eliminating points of contention opponents can reach towards an economy of moral
disagreement. Though it will never be possible to satisfy every member of this diverse nation, appeals
to methods of deliberation offer moral justification for our decisions. A crusader for censorship, for
example, will always be upset if defeated, but he may be more satisfied knowing the rationale for his
defeat than otherwise.

Racial Discrimination In Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar painted a picture of Jesus that was similar and different from the painting of the
gospel of Mark. For instance; in Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus is portrayed as a white man, he is
aggressive, has different colored followers and is tempted sexually by Mary. Although in the gospel of
Mark, there is no indication of Jesus being white or black, he is more aggressive, there are not any
details of his followers being different colors, and Mary was never depicted as having a sexual
relationship with Jesus. Why were these things important to the people of the perspective ages?
In Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus is portrayed as a white man. Is this because of the separation of blacks
and whites in the sixties and seventies? It easily could be, the characters around him were not all white
but he was indeed the almighty one as the white man. Now. this is not saying that the maker of this
film, Norman Jewison, was racist by any means, but that he was indeed trying to make a point of the
racial segregation of the time. Black people of the day were discriminated against and for people to
take Jesus in the movie seriously he needed to be white so that there was not an outrage among the
white people of the time. Comparatively, in the bible, there is no clear description of what Jesus
looked like. Based on the region they were in we can historically say that Jesus was a darker man.
To expand on the ideas of the issue of color, in Jesus Christ Superstar, the followers of

One research states psychotherapy is underutilized for veterans suffering from PTSD, since this
disorder is linked to suicide risk, reduced life quality, physical disabilities and even difficulty in
building relationships after their trauma, there is a significant concern on what should be done about
this. There were about 25% of people diagnosed with PTSD who were receiving about 4 sessions per

A Story Of Success And Its Impact On The World
I like to visualize our presence in this universe as threads, running from one end to another, each of
the same length as that of our lives. To picture a person s lifetime, I see thousands of these multi
colored threads against a white background. For most part, a thread runs straight, unfettered but
sometimes another thread crosses this one, defining a point in time when a person becomes associated
with an event or is affected by its consequences. Today, I want to talk about two such events that
crisscrossed a hundred other threads. Both of these events catapulted my understanding of large scale

Humans Vs Chimpanzee Essay
Humans, Chimpanzees, and Baker s Yeast
Many scientists say that living organisms share a universal genetic code. Out of the twenty four
organisms (not including Human/Chimpanzee), seventeen have less than ten differences (out of thirty
amino acid sequences). These organisms include animals like dogs, sheep, and cows; this list also
includes animals like penguins, rattlesnakes, and tuna. And the average difference is three between a
human/chimpanzee and these seventeen unhuman creatures. One would never think we shared so
much with a donkey. Yet, this goes further than making silly observations. These similarities give
validity to scientists who have varying theories on how the origin of life on Earth came to be. One
theory says that some organic molecules arrived on Earth by a meteorite or a comet. Having come

Music As A Universal Experience

Musical Minds
Musical is a universal experience. With few exceptions, all humans perceive musical pitch, tone,
timbre, and harmony. We listen to music to relax, to help us think, to celebrate, and grieve. Our
emotional responses to music have been noted in literature, poetry, and drama. The power of music to
evoke an emotional response is used by advertising companies, film directors, and mothers singing
their babies to sleep. Early education teachers are familiar with using music and rhythm as tools for
learning language and building memory. (Foran, 2009) Several musical melodies are used in grade
school to learn information. Music is used in my math classes across the world to enhance the learning
process of formulas. English classes use music help children learn prepositional phrases, adjectives,
adverbs, noun, and etc. However, after most scholars reached a certain grade level, using music to
achieve new heights academically became a technique of the past. Most instructors didn t bother using
music in order to help retain information. It was almost as if it was forgotten about. But, if music is so
important why isn t it allowed in most classrooms today? Many teachers are not fond of music in the
classroom. To many, it is seen as a distraction. Is it the type of music a person chooses to listen to?

Examples Of Affective Commitment
a. Affective commitment (meyer and allen 1997) Affective commitment measures the level of
attachment and affection that an individual has with the company. Employees sometimes get
emotionally attached to their company and this can be due to several reasons for example, good
internal relations, good atmosphere, friendly environment and peer motivation (Van Knippenberg
Sleebos, 2006). When an employee gets attention and prominent identity in a company, he/she gets
associated to it by heart and then it becomes a reason for them to stay in the company and not leave
their jobs. This dimensions tells that an employee will not leave the job in organization because he do
not want to leave it. So this is the congruence between organizational goals ... Show more content on

Employees under this category think that they have to be in this organization because they should be
(Meyer Parfyonova, 2010). This dimension links the employees moral and ethical attitude towards the
organization. They consider it as an obligation to be loyal to their company if the company is doing
something good for them (Gellatly, Meyer, Luchak, 2006). These kind of employees remain loyal to
the company as they think their company is providing them with benefits and meeting their needs so
they should be loyal to their company in anyway. It shows that this type of employees stay in
organization even if they are not completely satisfied with their jobs or even if they get better
opportunities they will stick to their company (Gellatly et al., 2006). Employees with this mind think
they should consider their place as priority based on several factors, for example, they think that the
company has paid a lot of money on their training so they should not waste this effort of the
organization and pay it back with their loyalty and commitment. So this dimension links the social and

Close your eyes and imagine yourself living in the time of 700 A.D. There is a guest speaker at and
evening entertainment and he begins to tells the story of Beowulf. Now fast forward to the 21st
century, modern times, the evening entertainment is now a Batman movie. The screening shows
Batman resembling much like Beowulf, who is an all around hero just like Batman. Heroes are often

heroes are noted for their rise of courage or nobility of purpose. Although, Beowulf and Batman come
from completely different time periods, they each share similarities of strength, both endure courage,
but they both are quite different.
To begin, the meaning of what a hero means to certain people have altered throughout the years. Both
Beowulf and Batman have similar qualities of strength. During the battle with Grendel, Beowulf with
his mighty power, rips off Grendel s arm ferociously with his bare hands. With that being said,
Batman shows his strength by defeating gangs and criminals on numerous amounts of occasions,
showing not only strength but endurance just like Beowulf. Batman proves to not only himself but to
the city that he does not allow for murder unless it is necessary. If the criminals are not an immediate

Civil Disobedience In America
Civil disobedience is the refusal to conform to certain laws as a form of harmless political protest,
while being aware of the consequences that could result because of it. Peaceful resistance to laws
positively impacts a free society because actions are taken due to people letting their voice be heard.
While some may argue that the main reasons of this are the five basic rights mentioned in the first
amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition), this issue goes far beyond
that. Without civil disobedience, many historical events might have not played such an important role
as they did to the point that they changed America in numerous ways; not to mention the courageous
people who still take part in protests today to claim the rights they should have. Take African

Masculinity In Medea
Throughout the Greek tragedy Medea, many characters have acted in a way that proves Foucault s
idea that power controls us. Medea lacks true freedom and the men in this Greek tragedy say that
being a woman is easy, but it s very challenging. Medea attempts to play the role of men and performs
traditional roles of masculinity, but cannot fully fulfill the role because of her status as a woman.
Foucault would consider Medea to be mimicking the same power elimination that Jason did. He was
able to get the trust of Medea, by allowing her to slave the dragon, and deceive her father. Once, he
got her trust he then betrayed her. Medea s revenge is dictated by a masculine regime of truth.
Medea being under a particular regime of truth that is incredibly masculine allows her anger to turn
into revenge and her want for power causes her to think about death. She does not know any other
way; she has learned that this tactic is how you gain power. She says, for I shall kill the children, my

the students that decide to attend there. Also, unlike a normal university, MTI is only as long of a

store level, Build profits at the store level, and we build more stores. The first two things go together,
of course. It s pretty tough to build profits without sales. But we know that if we can boost
profitability, we ll have an easy time building out our store network, because our franchisees will be
getting a better return on their investment. At their peak, 12 kosher Subway locations were open in the
U.S, including Kansas City and 5 in New York. As of 2011, only five remain: Cleveland, Miami, Los
Angeles and two stores in

John Hick argues that human beings are psychophysical persons
2. John Hick argues that human beings are psychophysical persons. He believes a person can be
resurrected through a divine act of recreation. How does he defend this position? Do you agree with
Hick? Why or why not? Please provide reasons to support your claim.
John Hick believes psychophysical re creation and parapsychology is evidence for life after death. He
says the soul cannot be destroyed, unlike the body. Hicks believe man is not an immortal soul attached
to a predetermined body, but man is a mortal with a psychophysical life that has to rely on God. To
explain what Hicks means, he uses John Smith, a man who disappears from the U.S. and is the same
person in India at the same time. Since John Smith is exactly the same people ... Show more content

In order for someone to define themself, it requires looking deep into their life experiences and
determine what has helped form us into who we are. We cannot define our self by our others see us,
but only by who we truly know we are.
I do not feel there is a way that the same person can exist at different times, at least here on earth.
There is one person, per body, that has one soul. Once the physical body dies, then the person s soul
lives on. I guess someone could look at a person exising at different times, such as their personality
traits and qualities in their children. I have heard many say, Your daughter is so funny and has the
same personality as her father. Does that mean that in a sense, my husband is existing at different
times in himself and through my daughter? I m not sure. There is one way for sure that the same
person can exist at different times, and that is during life here on earth and then after death when the
soul moves on to either heaven or hell, depending on the the life choices the person made while living.

Western World Monarchy
In Chapter 12 of The Rise of the Western World, the monarchy was checked by the Parliament which
eventually led to efficient property rights and economic development. Major reason power of the
monarchy was reduced was out of fear that the crown would infringe on property rights; once the
monarchy was checked property rights were deemed to be protected by Common Law. England,
similar to France and Spain, had an unchecked executive that attempted to infringe on property rights.
They were solely concerned with identifying new sources of revenue regardless of the impact on the
economy as a whole. The monarchy in England confiscated church lands and allowed special grants
and privileges and collected number of fees to increase the revenue flow (146). ... Show more content

He secured common law over the development of commercial law and allied the Parliament with
common law (147). In addition to advocating the supremacy of the common law he also strived to end
the monopolistic privileges endowed by the crown. The Glorious Revolution ensured that England
would have a constitutional monarchy in which Parliament had the majority of the power and after the
Restoration, Parliament became dominant (149). As the Parliament rose, efficient property rights were

How Does Cartman Use Cartman
The story continues with the next episode, Go God Go XII . After freezing himself, Cartman winds up
waking up five hundred years into the future. In South Park, Cartman is frequently used as vessel for
the show s creators to make fun of and criticize. However, Go God Go and Go God Go XII use
Cartman in a different matter. All Cartman wants in these two episodes is the Nintendo Wii. His
determination and impatience can be found humorous to the audience because it has landed him in
such a silly situation. However, the show is using Cartman s quest so he can navigate through the
conflict between the three different atheists groups. These episodes actually use Mr. Garrison, Richard
Dawkins, and the three atheists groups in order to satirize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He paces in front of the store impatiently, which is funny because it is a repetition of when Cartman
paced in front of the video game store in the previous episode. After Cartman steals the phone from a
group of boys, he uses the device to call people in the past. Cartman s interactions on the phone
involve different triangular relationships. The most humorous one is when Cartman calls his past self.
In this situation there are two separate Cartman s interacting with each other, past Cartman and future
Cartman. The triangle relationship is between past Cartman, future Cartman, and the audience.
Essentially Cartman as a whole is being made fun of, but past Cartman s behavior is the main target of
the joke. Even though future Cartman is trying to help his past self, past Cartman is too stubborn to
listen. In that particular situation, future Cartman is actually being reasonable. However, both
Cartmans are still being made fun of because the interaction between them demonstrates that Cartman
is too stubborn to even listen to his future self. The situation is funny to the audience because Cartman
is unknowingly being made fun

Gun Firearms Should Be Handled
In 1787, when the U.S. Constitution was written, did our founding fathers plan for the negative
association of guns with violence amongst their own citizens? Did they foresee the advancement of
their one shot muskets becoming automatic assault rifles? The news today is riddled with debates of
gun control due to many accounts of our nation s troubled citizens, to the unaware youth, being able to
easily obtain lethal firearms. From the tragedy of Sandy Hook and Virginia Tech to the death of a four
year old by his own mother s gun, brings to attention to the question of how these lethal firearms
should be handled. Opinions vary from both extremes of the spectrum but as the controversial topic
continues, many gun enthusiasts believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due the death of this instructor, which happened to be a 12 year war veteran, an uproar of why this
little girl was handling a submachine gun often used by soldiers. (Almasy) In the Chicago Tribune,
Christy Gutowski and Vikki Ortiz Healy write an article that challenges the required age of handling
firearms, they reveal that even at a younger age, shooting a gun was not a problem but the procedure
used to teach the girl was not up to par. A very common practice is to blame the outcome of guns, but
very few question how the firearms were used.
Through tragedies like, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, we begin to question as to why
such a troubled man was able to obtain a gun. From the analysis of Adam Lanza s crime, they were
able to see that he had first killed his mother with a Savage Mark II rifle, also being known that this
gun was obtainable to him due to the fact that he was older than 18 years of age. In addition to this
firearm, he had at least two semi automatic rifles and two handguns. The grieved parents and our on
looking nation were outraged at the feasibility of his accessibility of lethal firearms. Many questioned
the usage of semi automatic firearms and why Lanza s mother had owned them, this had also started
waves of pro gun control to make way in the Senate. (Awr)

The Gaze On Women s Cinema
Abigail Brill
Long Proposal
24 February 2015
The Gaze on Women in Cinema
Cinema has a very powerful influence on us, whether we are aware of it or not. Cinema tells us, in a
way of reflection, how we are to act and respond as a society. For example, in movies women with
body hair are portrayed as shamed, unhygienic, and usually rejects to sexual advances. I ve started to
recognize these consistent stigmas, but this is just one example of what I believe makes the male gaze
so successfully prevalent in American cinema.
Starting in the 1970s, women have been portrayed in film through various misogynistic lenses: the
male gaze, voyeurism, and sexual objectification; these lenses are still rampant today in modern
American film. Apparently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These films are not creative; they are mere replications of an era in film started as early as the 1960s.
American film has been using the enticing appeal of women s bodies to subtlety promote aggressive
voyeurism since films such as Hitchcock s Rear Window, and David Lynch s film Blue Velvet.
Voyeurism and spectatorship are exemplified in Hitchcock s film Rear Window from 1954. The film is
focused around the situation of the main character, Jeff, looking through his binoculars into a woman s
apartment across from him. The film employs a powerful photographic lens with its use of cut shots
that only show Jeff s optical perspective.
Hitchcock uses a standard eyeline match pattern, cutting from a shot of Jeff looking to a shot of what
he sees. Since there is no establishing shot that shows both Jeff and the opposite apartment, the
Kuleshov effect operates here: our mind connects the two images. More specifically, the second shot
represents Jeff s optical viewpoint, and this is filmed from a position on his end of the axis of action.
The camera has not crossed a line. We are strongly restricted to what Jeff sees and what (he thinks) he
knows.
(Bordwell)
As Rear Window continues, we see the objectification build up more and more intensity through its
technical uses and editing. Jeff s character attaches another lens to his camera to further magnify

Life Under The Meiji Constitution
When SCAP drafted our constitution, I could not wait any seconds to read it. The constitution you
created was so different from our former Meiji Constitution . Life under the Meiji Constitution was
very brutal and hard, especially for a woman like me. We were not allowed to speak or act against the
war effort. If we ever do, we would have been killed or punished by the military regime. So I had to
watch what I had to say and think. When I found out about the new constitution, we were pleased to
find the rights and liberties bestowed upon us. The new constitution had Anglo American and
European democratic ideals. In section 10, it says, the Japanese government shall remove all obstacles
to the revival and strengthening of democratic

To Kill a Mockingbird is about Atticus Finch defending a black man who was accused for raping a
white woman. Atticus is white and the community does not like that he is defending a black man. No

else. Atticus Finch is a hero because he is a good father, he is trustworthy, and he has integrity.
Atticus Finch is a good father because he cares for his kids and he knows that they respect him. He

reason for us not to try to win. He is telling scout that you should never give up, even though he knew
he was going to lose the Tom Robinson case before he started. He knows this because a white man s
word is much more superior to a black man s word. In chapter 30 Atticus says this to Heck Tate Heck,

An Efficient Way Transmit Codes Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after World War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for codes. The USA had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were easy to train, and a abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code talkers. Until Philip Johnston, he was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a kid and into his teens he grew up on a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all the time that Johnston spent of the reservation he became familiar with the people and their language. With the use of the Navajos it grained equality for Native Americans which was not found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them a greater respect by the whites into today s age. In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes of the settlers as pests, people who occupy the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were thought of as savages. However this was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only willing to fight for their land, families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years (Robert A. Roessel, 1). In this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who were in position of authority and control. This is because Americans lacked the understanding of the Navajo way, leading to be fatal for many as they were being transferred, resigned, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Memories And The Formation Of Reality In film, flashbacks are interruptions that take the narrative back in time from the current point in the story. They are often used to provide background and context to recount current events of a narrative filling in crucial backstories. In its basic form, the flashback is introduced when a presented image dissolves to another image of the past, which can be either as a story being told or a subjective memory. (Turim, pg. 1) For example, dream sequences and memories are methods used to present flashbacks. They become visual representation to the audience as an act of remembering past experiences of reality. Imagination also plays an important role in shaping the mind and the story similar to memories and the formation of reality. Imagination is usually integrated into animation as an artistic creation to express the artists ideas or memory. But where does the use of imagination and memories stop? By examining memory represented in animation and film, through Bartlett s theory of schema, we can see how the film develops an active organized method to recognize reality through memory. This paper is examining five films based on the theme of memory, thus arguing that imagination does not distorted memory in animation, but create a role as a form of embellishment for the film to help memory. Fredrick Bartlett is a British psychologist from Cambridge University, based on his book Remembering (1932) that focused on how people made sense of what was being remembered. The ... • 4. The Story Of The Great Story Late August And School It s late August and school is about to start, everyone s thinking of the great story s their going to tell their friends when they get back. I had the perfect story to tell, my dad had just bought a motorcycle for my brother and me. The story, started off with a garage sale. In my family we all get together to help the Grandparents of the family have a garage sale. We were all together at the end of the day, except my dad, and Aunt and Uncle, who were in the Cities. They were coming back to day, much to our excitement. The sun was setting behind the big maple tree in the front yard, and a dark truck, with its headlights shining through the darkness was coming our way. Dads back! my brother yelled in excitement, catching everyone s attention. We ran out to go meet the truck as it came to a stop. Our dad got out and told us he has a surprise for us. We followed him back around to the back of the truck. Dad pulled the tail gate down, and I looked on in surprise. It s a motorcycle! Mom s not going to be happy. Those were the first thoughts that came to mind as the miniature motorcycle was being lifted out of the truck. It looked just like the motorcycles I d seen around town but smaller, the perfect size for kids. It was cherry red and about 3 feet long and 2 feet high, it looked so small but awesome none the less. We didn t get to drive the motorcycle that day because it needed to be tuned and my dad wanted to make sure it safe for us to drive. After we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. How Far Had the Bolsheviks Created a Totalitarian State ... A totalitarian state, is a where the central government of a state does not tolerate any parties with opposing views and exercises complete dictatorial rule over all or most aspects of life. Lenin, the leader of the Bolsheviks, took many measures in an attempt to create a totalitarian state, including the dissolution of Constituent Assembly, the use of decrees and the establishment of a secret police group called the Cheka. However there were also some ways in which he failed to achieve full totalitarianism. The most basic characteristics of a Totalitarian state, are lack of free speech and state control over the media. This is important to establish social control over the state. Lenin s described free speech as bourgeois prejudice , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creation of the secret police and the establishment of the gulags and labour camps, are signs that Lenin had created a successful totalitarian state, and could assert physical control over the people. The introduction of War Communism during the Russian Civil War, is evidence of Russian moving towards a Totalitarian State. Many aspects of War communism were totalitarian in nature. For instance the creation of a Supreme Economic Council, formed to take complete control over the Russian highlights the central control over the most vital aspect of the state, that the Bolsheviks enforced. Other measures include the requisitioning of excess grain from the Peasants. Many of these policies were met with opposition, particularly among the agricultural peasants. This opposition was in turn met with brutal force, which was another example of the nature of complete state authority. War communism continued on until the end of the Civil war, by which time the Bolshevik forces had succeeded in crushing all opposition. The success of the red forces meant that Russia was a step closer in becoming a Totalitarian state, as they were now the most powerful party in Russia, with complete control over all its territory. Upon the creation of the USSR, Lenin introduced new rule that would ensure greater totalitarian control. Only communists would be able to stand for the soviets, and so this meant that the communist party had the true control over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. German Aggression Dbq Essay It is heavily debated that the display of German aggression inevitably contributed to the outbreak of general European tensions, and war in 1914. The use of strategies such as the Anglo German Naval Race, as stated in Joll s source, highlighted the aggression by Germany prior to war. Moreover, this type of tactic also demonstrated the desire and hunger Germany obtained for continental power, another factor towards European tensions. The sources in question both support and contest the set statement, to an extent. Sources 1 and 3 by Corrigan and Joll, respectively, argue how Germany s use of tactics agitated European powers, thus causing war. Joll contrasts with Turner, arguing how the German strategy of aggression via the arms race led to general war; Arms race, in which all major powers were involved contributed to the sense that war was bound to come, sooner rather than later . The quote implies that the use of the Arms Race was a major factor towards the inevitable war, also highlighting the aggression of Germany. Additonally, the source indicates the turbulent effect of the arms race on the nation; it caused serious financial difficulties for all governments involved . This demonstrates the severe impact of German aggression and how it had some severe flaws, despite hoping that the race would make for peace rather than war . A prime example of the consequences of German aggression was the July Crisis in 1914. The crisis led to severe consequences between Germany and other nations. The unconditional support by Germany for Austria Hungary aka blank cheque led to an increase in the chances of armed conflict and higher chances of war occurring. Overall, this is evident that Germany s involvement in other nations conflict only spurred the chances of war. In support of Joll, Corrigan and Fischer also highlight how German aggression was creating war. Moreover, the historians also concluded how Germany were adamant that the war would create two things in German favour power via annexation and armament. However, Joll highlights the ... Alfred Prufrock is inhabited by both a richly developed world and character and one is able to categorize the spaces in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock to correspond to Prufrock s mind. Eliot uses the architecture of the three locations described in the text to explore parts of Prufrock s mind in the Freudian categories of id, ego, and super ego; the city that is described becomes the Ego, the room where he encounters women his Id and the imagined ocean spaces his Super Ego. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These issues the introversion, the self degradation are joined by a myriad of other psychological disturbances that are all derived from inability to fulfill sexual desire. The poem becomes an introspective examining of the faults in the mind of a man. By including the quote from Dante s Inferno, and creating a character that is so introverted Eliot suggests that Prufrock is examining his own mind and delving into the most delicate of problems. If one applies the Freudian concepts of id, ego, and super ego to Prufrock s troubled mind, a clear delineation of three sections is made in the poem. A short explanation of id ego and super ego is necessary in connecting them to the spaces in the text. Freud s theory stemmed from a need to classify the parts of the mind . From this stems the organization of personality into three parts all of which are demonstrated in the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock . The id is the impulsively and instinctually driven section of Freud s personality complex and is based on seeking pleasure. An especially important factor for Prufrock is that the id encompasses is sexual desire. It is largely accountable for the unconscious mind. The Battle Of The War On The State, And Post Cold War Introduction: Ever since the Napoleonic Wars, war was a concept that was considered to be under the purview of the State, however this belief is inherently wrong. In all of history, warfare has been engaged by private actors as opposed to the State. In fact, the State as the dominant actor in warfare should be understood as the exception, rather than the norm. Even though the State has not been the dominant actor in warfare, there were certainly multiple attempts by the State to control, or have governance over warfare as a whole. Governance of the Mercenary Mercenaries have existed for years before the Middle Ages, and have continued well into the 20th century. During the Middle Ages, the political system of feudalism, and the economies contributed greatly to the prominence and strength of Mercenaries. It is also worth noting that because of the strength and prominence of Mercenaries, it was hard to have governance over these entities. • 16. The Sociological Perspective Or Imagination, Cite Its... 1 Define the sociological perspective or imagination, cite its components, and explain how they were defined by C. Wright Mills. The sociological Taboo (or imagination) is defined as a way of thinking that help us use external information and experience to form theories about the social pattern around us. We collect data and from that information, we make judgments and predictions. These require going beyond one s point of view. People s life and experiences are different. Therefore, it is important to take into consideration their reasoning and thoughts to be able to understand why they act the way they do. Hearing others stories and theories help us distant our self and creating a broader perspective. The saying never criticizes someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes is the best way to interpret sociological imagination. Its components include jobs, income, education, gender, race ethnicity, and age. C. Wright Mills defined sociological perspective as the ability to think yourself away from the familiar routines of everyday life and the vivid awareness of the relationship between experience and the wider society. He explained the difference between personal and social issues. Data has been around forever; we have always gathered information. Paleolithic cavemen recorded their activities by carving them in stone or notching them in sticks. Egyptians used hieroglyphics to record significant events in history. The Library of Alexandria was home to half a million scrolls of the ancient world. Less than hundred years ago, we used punch cards to record and store information. As technology continues to evolve, the amount of data we store continues to grow. We ve come a long way since stone tablets, scrolls, and punch cards. It s important to understand the concept of big data and the impact is has created. This paper will define the classifications of data, explain the challenges of big data, and describe how big data analytics is being used in today s data driven world. Classifying Data Data can be classified into three distinct categories: structured, unstructured, and semi structured. It is important to understand these classifications and the challenges they present. Structured data follows a specific pattern of organization and is easy to access, manage, and store. It fits nicely into rows and columns of traditional database management systems. Unstructured data is unorganized; it follows no specific pattern or order. It does not fit into rows and columns and cannot be easily accessed, processed or searched. This type ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Free trade is about removing barriers like tariffs, quotas, and other restrictions. This ultimately causes the price of goods and services for consumers to be more expensive. Quotas are a limited quantity countries put on imports and exports. Barriers to trade is a government limitation on the amount of international goods and services. At the heart of the debate must be a genuine acknowledgement that opponents views, though disagreeing with our own, are just as morally sound. In granting this we must also approach the discussion with a willingness to change our opinions if discussion reveals a stronger moral position. Deliberation relies on rational participants who do not blindly cling to prior beliefs despite evidence favoring other ones. If, however, deliberators cannot justify leaving their positions after fair consideration, they must make concessions to the opposing side without sacrificing their own views. By eliminating points of contention opponents can reach towards an economy of moral disagreement. We cannot define our self by our others see us, but only by who we truly know we are. I do not feel there is a way that the same person can exist at different times, at least here on earth. There is one person, per body, that has one soul. Once the physical body dies, then the person s soul lives on. I guess someone could look at a person exising at different times, such as their personality traits and qualities in their children. • 45. The Gaze On Women s Cinema Abigail Brill Long Proposal 24 February 2015 The Gaze on Women in Cinema Cinema has a very powerful influence on us, whether we are aware of it or not. Cinema tells us, in a way of reflection, how we are to act and respond as a society. For example, in movies women with body hair are portrayed as shamed, unhygienic, and usually rejects to sexual advances. I ve started to recognize these consistent stigmas, but this is just one example of what I believe makes the male gaze so successfully prevalent in American cinema. Starting in the 1970s, women have been portrayed in film through various misogynistic lenses: the male gaze, voyeurism, and sexual objectification; these lenses are still rampant today in modern American film. Apparently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These films are not creative; they are mere replications of an era in film started as early as the 1960s. American film has been using the enticing appeal of women s bodies to subtlety promote aggressive voyeurism since films such as Hitchcock s Rear Window, and David Lynch s film Blue Velvet. Voyeurism and spectatorship are exemplified in Hitchcock s film Rear Window from 1954. The film is focused around the situation of the main character, Jeff, looking through his binoculars into a woman s apartment across from him. The film employs a powerful photographic lens with its use of cut shots that only show Jeff s optical perspective. Hitchcock uses a standard eyeline match pattern, cutting from a shot of Jeff looking to a shot of what he sees. Since there is no establishing shot that shows both Jeff and the opposite apartment, the Kuleshov effect operates here: our mind connects the two images. More specifically, the second shot represents Jeff s optical viewpoint, and this is filmed from a position on his end of the axis of action. The camera has not crossed a line. We are strongly restricted to what Jeff sees and what (he thinks) he knows. (Bordwell) As Rear Window continues, we see the objectification build up more and more intensity through its technical uses and editing.
