Comparison and Contrast between Popes
When people think of the Pope, they think of a leader, admirable person, and someone who is willing
to listen to opinions of the people to make them pleased. They have power, and are lead the Roman
Catholic Church when in reign. These are all huge responsibilities and the Pope is judged in every
aspect of these qualities. They carry much accountability and pressure from the people in the
community. Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis are very similar in their styles and ways of working
with the people. They also have differences amongst their philosophies. However; their similarities

The insight on women and their specific role amongst the church is what collides. When watching the
PBS film, it states that even though women are very frequent in the church, their role is very small and
not as important as the men. They don t have a specific role nor importance to the church. John Paul
feels this is the correct way to run the system of the church. He believes this due to the fact that men
can become priests and have the highest role in the church. On the other hand, Pope Francis had a big
issue with this topic that he made comments about possibly changing the system in the future.
According to the article by Spadero, he explains Pope Francis view of women in the life of the Church
by stating, The church cannot be herself without the woman and her role. The woman is essential for
the church. Mary, a woman, is more important than the bishops. I say this because we must not
confuse the function with the dignity. We must therefore investigate further the role of women in the
church. We have to work harder to develop a profound theology of the woman. Pope Francis believes
women can make a dramatic difference in the church can help with the real word decisions the church

Mechanical Engineering Advancements In The Automobile...
Mechanical Engineering Advancements in the Automobile Industry The field of mechanical
engineering is a rather diverse one. Mechanical engineering is involved with everything that moves
which makes it the broadest field of engineering to study. Mechanical engineers focus on creating a
component, machine, or an entire process to supply people with the goods or services they want, need,
or require for life. The automotive industry relies heavily on the field of mechanical engineering to
improve safety, fuel consumption, and emissions control. The advancements in mechanical
engineering over the past few years have improved greatly especially in the automobile industry
where the engines of automobiles are quieter, faster, and more fuel efficient. As technology advances
in society, so do the fields of study that utilize these updated forms of technology. Mechanical
engineers have improved automobile engines based on these technologic advances. Currently, the
areas where engineers are focused include enhancing the transmissions, improving batteries by
changing their chemistries, decreasing the load of automobiles, and creating hybrids. With
improvement to these areas, the automobile engines are able to function more efficiently while
simultaneously decreasing their environmental impact. The transmission of an automobile is
responsible for supplying the torque and power to the wheels of the automobile. The main source of
energy waste in the transmission system is

Sexual Identity Development
D Augelli s Model of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Development
There are several theorists that have presented models on sexual identity development. Many of the
models have stages of sexual identity development suggesting that certain characteristics are present
during a specific period. However, Anthony D Augelli presents a model that suggests processes rather
than stages. These processes take place over the span of one s life and not necessarily in any specific
order or fashion. D Augelli s (1994a) life span model of lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) identity
development takes into account the complex factors that influence the development of people in
context over historical time (Evans et al, 2010). According to D Augelli s (1994) ... Show more

The exiting heterosexual identity process requires a realization that one s feelings and attractions are
not heterosexual as well as informing others that one is lesbian, gay or bisexual. Developing a
personal LGB identity status involves determining for oneself the unique meaning being gay lesbian
or bisexual will have in one s life. Developing an LGB social identity consists of creating a support
network of people who know and accept one s sexual orientation. Becoming an LGB offspring
involves disclosing one s identity to parents and redefining one s relationship after such disclosure.
Developing an LGB intimacy status is the process of establishing an intimate relationship. When
individuals enter an LGB community they make varying degrees of commitment to social and
political action (Evans et al, 2010). It s important to note that individuals can experience any of these
phases at any given time during one s life. A number of researchers have documented many different

I was initially attracted to this piece because of how beautiful the horses are depicted. They re shown
with such great detail, despite it being a black figure painting, and represented as these huge, majestic
beings that are being harnessed by such a small human figure. Black figure paintings were still
common during this period of Ancient Greece but the style was dying out at the hands of the more
detailed red figure painting style. This is an amphora, which was a prize given out at panathenaic
competitions. Based on the content, this amphora was most likely given out for a horse race. On the
opposite side of that show, Athena is depicted most likely waiting to crown the winner of the ... Show

I chose this bronze sculpture because it reminded me of Aphrodite of Knidos in that in both sculptures,
Aphrodite is depicted as naked but covering her genitalia with her hand. Women are normally shown
as clothed in Ancient Greek art, but Aphrodite is the exception since she is commonly the only female
figure presented in the nude. The sculpture is in references the cause of the Trojan war when Paris
chose Aphrodite as the most beautiful goddess and given the apple she is shown holding as a prize.
Aphrodite then gives Paris Helen in return.

Argumentative Essay On Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana Legalization
35 million Americans use marijuana on a monthly basis, while at least 78 million Americans use at
some point, according to a survey by Yahoo News/Marist College (Kate); however, marijuana is an
illegal drug in most of The United States. Marijuana has been outlawed, and the potential benefits of
legalization outweigh the detriments of criminalization. Marijuana can be decriminalized by affecting
the general consensus of the public through social media and removing cannabis from Schedule I of
the Controlled Substances Act.
There are many benefits of decriminalizing marijuana, from the ability to tax to the overall fixing of a
historical problem; however, there is much more the illegality of marijuana imposes. The idea of
marijuana being legalized resulting in increased drug usage rates is a fallacy. Marijuana legalization
will not necessarily skyrocket the rate of which Americans use marijuana: the observed usage rate in
America is 11%, while Norway, a country where the drug is legalized, has an observed rate of 7% (
Marijuana Legalization Leads to a Reduction in Crime ). This information is pertinent because it
nullifies the notion of increased drug use in America as a consequence of legalization; the common
user of marijuana will continue usage independent of the legality. Marijuana criminalization aids in
linking illegal activities to drugs, raising the participation in the illegal activities. Violence,
prostitution, and gambling are associated with

Mediterranean World Continuities
There were changes to the Mediterranean World, but also continuities from the Roman Empire in 100
CE, to the Abbasid Empire in 800 Ce, to Feudal Europe in 1000 CE. Christianity and Islam,
architecture, and the status of women all changed, even though some parts of them remained the same.
Christianity and Islam developed and spread. New architectural advancements were added to the
already existing Roman innovations, and the status of women improved overall.
Christianity and Islam became the dominant religions in the Mediterranean by 1000 CE, and as these
religions spread, they became more dominant in the lives of their followers. At first, the Roman
Empire, which controlled the entire Mediterranean, was polytheistic, but around 300 CE, Emperor

The Romans were master engineers and were known for beginning to use the arch and dome. An
example of the use of these innovations is the Aqueducts. The Aqueducts were very important to
Rome because it delivered water to the huge population, meaning that the arch and dome helped build
very efficient and useful buildings. The Umayyads and Abbasids on the African side of the
Mediterranean continued to use the arch and dome, but also added their own style of geometric
designs to their buildings because Allah could not be expressed in picture form. This is seen in the
many mosques that were built, including the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The Byzantines and
Feudal Europe both also used arches and domes to build their churches. They also incorporated tall,
arched windows into their unique architectural style. This is where the arch came into play for Europe.
In conclusion, the arch and dome were continually used throughout the history of the Mediterranean,
but other styles from different political organizations also

Imagery of Blood, Light and Clothing in Macbeth by William...
Imagery of Blood, Light and Clothing in Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Imagery, the art of making images, the product of imagination (Merriam
Webster). Shakespeare uses many forms of imagery in his writing of Macbeth. Three main forms of
imagery in this play are blood, light and darkness, and clothing. Within each form of this imagery
Shakespeare incorporates symbols that the reader must understand if they are to interpret either the
passage or the play as a whole. In Macbeth blood symbolizes many things. We have all known blood
to represent life, death, and often injury. In the play, Shakespeare uses blood to represent treason, guilt,
murder, and death. Shakespeare uses the word blood many times throughout
Macbeth. The best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as seen on pg.124 Act I scene v when lady Macbeth asks the spirits Make thick my blood. In this
quote she wants to make herself insensitive towards the deeds that she is about to commit. Towards
the end of the play blood symbolizes guilt. This is best seen on pg. 176 Act V scene ii, when Lady
Macbeth states Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One: two: why, then tis time to do t. In this quote Lady
Macbeth is remembering the night of the murder. It is the guilt in her soul that is making hr have these
recurring nightmares. The last symbolism of blood is on pg.
185 Act II scene viii when Macduff states I have no words: my voice is in my sword, thou bloodier
villian than terms can give thee out! In this quote the imagery of blood again begins to deal with
honor. The second form of imagery Shakespeare uses is light and darkness. In the play
Macbeth Shakespeare uses the witches, the guilt in Macbeth s soul, and the darkness of the night to
establish the atmosphere. The immoral scenes of the play seem to take place at night. For instance, the
vision of the dagger, the murder of Duncan, the murder of
Banquo, and Lady Macbeth s sleep walking. In the opening scene the witches set the mood of the play.
A great storm of thunder and lightning is taking place one of the witches ask When shall we meet

night. Another example of

How Does The Statue Of Liberty Benefit The Economy
The Statue of Liberty, located in New York city, NY, has represented America as a free country for
years, but it is now threatened by deterioration. Lady Liberty is symbolic to millions and helps
America s economy, so it is time for us to return the favor and work to preserve it. Losing the Statue
of Liberty would mean losing the benefit that it gives to America s economy. Lady Liberty benefits the
economy by generating employment options. The statue supports more than 2,000 jobs, as mentioned
on Cnn.com. All of these jobs would be lost if Lady Liberty wore down, whereas more occupations
would be created if construction began on the statue. The Statue of Liberty also provides money for
America. Cnn.com states Liberty Island generates nearly 200 million dollars each year. This money
comes from tours, ferry rides, restaurants, hotels, et cetera. Over time, the expense it would take to
preserve the statue could be made back through the money it brings in. We clearly cannot afford to
allow the Statue of Liberty to deteriorate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I Will Look At 2 Works Of Art

The Last Judgement Triptych. I will describe all the details I see in the paintings and come up with a
conclusion of what the artist was trying to accomplish, and then conducting research to combine my
thoughts with the actual meaning of the artwork. After researching, I will determine if the artist was
successful in what I found they tried to accomplish in this artwork. The first five minutes I spent
staring at the artwork, all I saw were lines, figures, and colors. Two hours pass and I started noticing
details I had not seen before. Through these two artworks, I caught a glimpse into the artist s mind and

window are located, has much brighter colors like white, yellow, and brighter blues. In the center of
the artwork is a red outline of a women. The women is on her knees and hands. The arc in her back
gives the sensation of vulnerability. My first explanation for this artwork is that the artist is showing a
woman reflecting on her past and not being happy with what she has done. Her shadow or her
decisions are haunting her present life. With the white gown, I can make the assumption that she is
getting married and is looking at her past, maybe reminiscing on about another lover. She could have
been young and in love. Made a couple of wrong decisions and was heartbroken. She is now afraid to
love again but knows that she has a brighter future ahead of her which is why there appears to be light
coming from the windows direction. The small women figure in the center of the painting could be a
symbolization of her not wanting to go back to being the vulnerable girl she was. Another explanation
I came up with for this artwork was centered on the anger or maybe even jealousy that her face
expression portrays. By marrying, she will be

discuss the differences between equity and enterprise multiples, show how target or fair multiples can
be derived from underlying value drivers, and discuss the ways multiples can be used in valuation. For
each multiple, we show its calculation and derivation from underlying DCF fundamentals, discuss its
strengths and weaknesses, and suggest appropriate use.

What Is a Multiple?
A valuation multiple is simply an expression of market value relative to a key statistic that is assumed
to relate to that value. To be useful, that statistic whether earnings, cash flow or some other measure
must bear a logical relationship to the market value observed; to be seen, in fact, as the driver of that
market value.
Two basic types: enterprise
There are two basic types of multiple enterprise value and equity:
and equity multiples s s
Enterprise multiples e xpress the value of an entire enterprise the value of all claims on a business
relative to a statistic that relates to the entire enterprise, such as sales or EBIT.
Equity multiples, by contrast, express the value of shareholders claims on the assets and cash flow of
the business. An equity multiple therefore expresses the value of this claim relative

controversy and the main topic of discussion at peace meetings. Although several meetings have taken
place over time to resolve this conflict, fighting continues to rage on. This dispute between the Israelis
and Palestinians threatens the entire world. Now with access to nuclear warheads and chemical

country. These peace talks have always involved multiple countries. The United States has always
been involved as well as the presence of the United Nations. The Israeli Palestinian conflict is
currently a global issue that worries many countries around the world. The United Nations held the
first peace talk in 1967 and named the talk UN 242. This talk outlined an exchange of land for peace
(XXX). This talk established some guidelines that future peace talks would bring up. The next
meeting was at Camp David in 1978. This conference expanded on UN 242 and a peace treaty
between Israel and Egypt was signed. Egypt was the first Middle East country to recognize Israel as
an independent country (XXX). There was no more peace talks until 1991 when tenses became
strained between the Israelis and Palestinians again. This talk that was held in 1991 took place in
Madrid, Spain. Several Arab nations were invited to this conference to encourage more peace treaties
with Israel. Shortly after the Madrid Conference another meeting was held in 1993 that was dubbed
the Oslo Agreement. During the Oslo Agreement, the PLO and Israel agreed to recognize each other
as individual states and Israel said they would pull out of West Bank and Gaza. However, there was
much opposition to this plan, so it was only partly put into practice. This agreement can be considered
the most productive meeting between the two warring countries. There was another meeting at Camp
David that took place in 2000. This meeting went over policies that were covered at the Oslo
agreement and attempts were made to speed up the process of peace. The United States encouraged
Israel and the PLO to negotiate where the borders would be put in place. Again, Israel and the

The Pros And Cons Of GPS Tracking
GPS Tracking Stands on One Level with Data Privacy and Security: Fact or Myth
The term Global Positioning System conjures up images of GPS devices being used in space age
technology and vehicle navigation systems. GPS tracking devices have also become a part of our daily
lives today. However, many people are sceptical about the use of these handy devices. Many people
claim that they will face data privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much of this statement
is true? Do others have access to your information unless and until you share them? It is true that the
person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the concerned individual.
With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen security aspects,
the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. Many families and business owners have
started to trust the system and are applying it in different ways. In fact, these applications have made
its way into animal tracking, farming and even gaming technology. Animal tracking helps in

Fahrenheit 451 Personal Response Essay
One of the phrases that I chose to include on the poster is, THE FOOLISH. I chose this phrase because
that is how the general population is perceived in this book. They easily believe what is told to them
and follow the orders of anyone, making them very gullible. Society, at this point, does not really have
any individuality. They follow the group opinion and no longer come up with ideas of their own. So,
THE FOOLISH is the main descriptor of society, or the antagonist, Another word that I chose to
include is, REMEMBER. This word was chosen because it was the duty of the protagonist, Montag, to
remember his part of the story. It was vital for him to do so because it was the only way that the books
were going to survive throughout the war. Montag really struggled with this job because he could
never really quite comprehend what was going on, until he absolutely needed it. In addition to that, I
chose the word, DEPRESSION. This word was chosen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This phase was chosen because throughout the book Montag felt a kind of big brother presence
watching him. An example of this is when the hound is sent to sniff around his house after they knew
that he had books. Also, Beatty constantly knew about what Montag was doing, which made him very
nervous and swayed some of his decisions. This was important because it affected how the reader
viewed the society as a whole. MANIPULATION was also an important word added to my project.
Manipulation was used very often throughout the story, especially with the character Beatty. Beatty
often used long, drawn out sentences with a lot of references to confuse Montag and change his
opinion on the situation. In fact, Beatty s entire role in the book was to manipulate Montag into
believing the things that society did at that time. It had a huge impact on the plotline that was
completely necessary for the story to turn out the way it did, which is why it was

Life in the trenches during WWI was miserable. There seem to be no words that could truly match the
horrific experience, but soldiers tried to conjure images using literature to come close to their
experience. As stated in The World s History, Europe had not warfare on such a scale since the
Napoleonic wars (Spodek 664). Even watching the American Civil War from afar could not have
prepared Europe and the young men that served for the devastation WWI brought. The poems
described the war as a collection of numbed men, simply waiting to die, lines of grey, muttering faces.

Relationship between gods and human: An assessment of The Odysseus in the Homer s epic In the
ancient Greeks culture, the belief that was directed towards the goddesses and gods was strong, and
they influenced most of their daily operations. The activities that were conducted during their daily
endeavours were coined on the intervention of the gods and goddesses. With this strong faith in gods,
the Greeks focused on giving reverence, offering respect, and holding them with high regards when
they are facing issues. They established strong emotional and spiritual relationships with these gods

The History Of The Library Profession
John Ambrosio (2013), reflecting on the history of the library profession, invokes Antonio Gramsci,
who said that a critical understanding of the self also requires the development of an ethical stance, a
set of values, principles, and virtues to guide one s moral conduct (Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). Lacking
such ethics or praxis, librarians are vulnerable to the dominant political ideology. The way to
overcome paralysis is the consciousness of what one really is and knowing oneself. It begins with
taking an inventory of our historical formation with determining how we have been secretly imprinted
by history; how our language, thoughts and identities have been informed by various currents of
philosophical thought and cultural practices (Gramsci in Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). By examining the
history of the library profession a history that conflates neutrality with equality and democracy, staffed
by a cadre of professionals who trace their beginnings to a theory of library economy it is easy to
imagine how neoliberal ideology found a home in the library.
Many theorists recognize the fact that librarians have the potential to make progressive reforms to
society (Raber, 2003, p. 47), if they would only break free of the contradictory theoretical
consciousness and hegemonic norms that hold them back from doing so by suggesting that they
should take no action (Bales Engle, 2012, p. 22). Louis Althusser (2009), in particular felt that
librarians had a social and moral

Gender Stereotypes In Aladdin
The aim of this essay is to investigate the race, sexuality and gender stereotyping that is expressed
through the Disney film Aladdin and how these elements affect the characters. These elements will be
represented within the characters personality and back story which is then visually represented in the
characters design.
In this Disney film there is a great importance to know the history in the world during the time that
this film was established. The history during 1991 is shown through the characters. The filmmakers
established Aladdin in 1991 Gulf War that lasted six months. Conflict was present between Iraq and

Not only do the stereotypes expressed through the characters and the play a vital role, but the
representation through body structure, style and design help create and grant these characters to be

The way in which Disney films help maintain a respectable name for the hero is through justifying the
characters negative actions. This is present in Aladdin as he is portrayed to be a thief as he steals a loaf

The Nature Of The Good Life
Philosophers have been thinking about the nature of the good life since ancient times. The good life
was a central topic during the ancient period of philosophy. Many people say that the good life is
living a prosperous life full of happiness. There are many different ideologies of the good life and each
philosopher has their own values and beliefs. I decided to pick one of the most well known
philosophers, Karl Marx. Karl Marx s philosophy is by far one of the most looked at. He called
capitalism the dictatorship of the upper class. , saying that it was run by the wealthy class solely to
make profit and maximize their own benefits. The end product and goal of capitalism was simply
economic gain. In this philosophy there has to be organized production, which includes the means of
production, such as factories, facilities, machines, and raw materials. Throughout this paper I will
describe certain aspects of Karl Marx s philosophy mainly focusing on why capitalism is not the way
to road to the good life. A good example of this can be looked at by recognizing the class struggle
between bourgeoisie and proletariat, otherwise known as the upper and lower class.
The bourgeoisie owns the means of production and the proletariats are the labor and means of
production. The relationship between these two social classes is very unique. While they both work

Value And Its Influence On People s Living
1. Introduction
Money is very important to daily life. It is money that enable people to live a life they want to live and
fulfill the value of life, such as happiness, health , love, and making difference. On the other hand,
values determine every life decision that people makes (Determine the true purpose of money in your
life, 2016).
Value is the monetary worth of something, which has great influence on indivudual s behavior and
attitude. When a purchase decision is made, it involves a value calculation. In general, value is
measured by price. But the price does not really reflect the true value. The most common value is
economic value. Beside economic value, there are cultural value and social value. Value is important
to both individual and business. This essay mainly explores the concept of value and its influence on
people s living.
2. The concepts of value
2.1 Definition of Value
Value is defined as the desirability of something, such as usefulness and exchangeability, also is
defined as the amount of money for a fair exchange for something (paperchain , nd). According to
Adam Smith, the word value , had two different meanings: value in use and value in exchange.George
[1908] mentioned that value of a thing was the largest amount of wealth that anyone was willing to
exchange for. Mises [1934] added that value is always the result of subjective judgments, and
intrinsically related to the worth that the consumer wanted to exchange for. Dewey( 1939) considered

The Importance Of Love And Happiness
As a singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey, once said, When someone else s happiness is your happiness,
that is love. Love and happiness are two qualities that people seek in life; they are correlating factors
in people s lives, like mine, for example. These two qualities are part of the circle of life and many
believe that having the two factors in their life will lead to a good life.
Like many others, I seek for love and happiness as well, but at the same time, I am already
experiencing them. Generally speaking, I can experience these two factors at the same time and by the
same people, but I can also just experience one and not the other or I can experience none. In my life,
particularly, I can say that I often experience love and happiness from my family and friends. There
are also times where I feel love and happiness from others, such as strangers, classmates, or different
forms of entertainment such as: movies, shows, and social media. But of course, life also has ups and
downs, so there may be moments where I experience sadness or hate from the people I love and vice
versa. Which is why it is important to realize that correlation does not equal causation.
The first theory that was mentioned in class was the Union Theory, which is the construction of our
desire to create, maintain, and be engaged in a specific kind of union. I agree with this theory because
I believe that it applies to different types of relationships, such as: friendship, romance, or family.
Between those, there is a bond that is formed between you and the other person(s), love. Like the
definition, I do believe that love is based on one s willingness to show such affection towards another.
As contradicting as this seems, I also agree with the statement, love exists when the distinction
between x s interests and y s interests are not marked anymore because one can love another but that
person doesn t have to show love back. Although x may not love y the same, love still exists because y
may still have some sort of affectionate feeling towards x. I believe that one sided love exists, but I
also believe that love is not pure if two do not love each other the same. In other words, in order to
have true love in a relationship, both parties

A Correlation Between Emotion-Focused Coping With Test...
A Correlation Between Emotion Focused Coping With Test Anxiety And Age Motivation can come
from a variety of factors in an individual s life, stress is one of those factors that can have either a
positive or a negative effect (Deckers, 2014; Heiman, 2004). Stress can appear in an individual
through physiological, psychological and behavioural symptoms (Deckers, 2014). Deckers (2014)
conveys that when an individual has a physiological response to stress, it is the product of hormones
creating the symptom in the body, for example, nausea or sweating. In addition the psychological
symptoms representing stress are identified through the level of stability of an individual s mind and
feelings, and can be rated through measures of anxiousness, nervousness, self confidence, irritability
or negativity of emotions (Deckers, 2014). Behavioural symptoms of stress can be enacted out by an
individual through excessive or dysfunctional conduct, for example, through an increase in
consumption of alcohol or caffeine, an intake of drugs, or poor sleeping habits (Deckers, 2014).
Although the symptoms mentioned have an attached negative stigma, it does not necessarily follow
that all encounters with it will result in negativity. Deckers (2014) explains that stress can be a
motivator to a goal: if a problem arises in the pursuit of the goal, stress can occur, then an individual
could be encouraged to overcome the situation to achieve their goal through coping. Lazarus and

Van De Walle, Karp, And Bay-Williams
Van De Walle, Karp, Bay Williams (2013) describe the importance of using visual representations
such as Area, length and Set models to consolidate fractional concepts. Observations of students
representing fractions through the use of the three models allows teachers to gauge if learners have a
real understanding of the fraction concepts. Area models represent fractions as part of an area. Circular
or rectangular pieces, grids or dot paper, pattern blocks, geoboards and paper folding are examples of
this type of model (Van De Walle, Karp Bay Williams 2013, p. 293). Length or number line models
permit for the comparison of lengths or measurements instead of areas by either drawing and
subdividing them or through the comparison of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Learners may also have difficulty in understanding that a fraction of a group can be found when more
than one object is represented, two fractions can be equivalent even with different denominators and
that objects that are not the same shape can still be the same fraction. In terms of comparison students
may have difficulty in comparing bigger fractions to smaller ones and in associating the size of the
fraction to the size of the whole. Furthermore students may have difficulty is grasping all of the
representations of fractions and the concept associated with fractions greater than one.
Van De Walle, Karp, Bay Williams (2013) discuss the importance of Iterating and partitioning in
building conceptual understanding of fractions and the way they assist students to understand the
meaning of fractions, particularly numerators and denominators and the relationship between the part
and the whole. Partitioning involves sectioning shapes into equal sized parts. Area, length and set
models are particularly useful in partitioning. Iterating involves counting fractional parts and assists
students to understand the relationship between the parts and the whole or the numerator and the
denominator (pg 355). Although Iterating applies to all of the models it is mostly connected with
length models as

Piglet And Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia is an expression used to describe a below average glucose level. Due to young age,
piglets have trouble walking and feeding off their mother (or sow) to get essential nutrients. One of
these essential nutrients is glucose (or sugar). This nutrient is essential because it give the animal
energy to become mobile. When born piglets already have low levels of glucose; however, the animal
body is supposed to compensate by using the low glycogen reserves located in the piglets liver. The
glycogen reserves are supposed to give the piglets a sufficient amount of glucose until the piglets are
able to move towards and to feed off the sow. The piglet is dependent on the sow for energy provided
by the lactose in the sows milk; however, if the piglet is deficient in not getting enough lactose to
maintain the piglets energy, the level of the piglet s energy will suffer from Hypoglycemia because...

By doing so the piglet would be getting the energy to continue feeding which in turn will allow
growth. However, if the piglet suffers from Hypoglycemia the piglet is unable to feed off their mother.
When a non hypoglycemic piglet struggles to feed the non hypoglycemic piglet uses its low glycogen
reserves in the liver which compensates for the non hypoglycemic piglet to give in enough energy to
feed off of the non hypoglycemic piglet s mother. If piglets suffer from hypoglycemia the piglet its
deficient in glucose and is unable to use it low glycogen reserves. The piglet that suffers from
hypoglycemia will struggle to move and to survive since it the piglet does not have any energy and
cannot feed. The piglet will go into a coma and later

were then instructed to go find the four locations of the QR codes and answer the questions on a piece

attention. A few students ask what we were doing and wanted to get started, so they downloaded the
app. Nate explained what we were going to be doing, but not everyone was listening still. Students
were asking which QR reader was needed for the activity, so Nate explained any of them will work. It
is what the individual student prefers their app to do. When students started getting up out of their
chairs, the other students finally decided to pay attention and asked what they were supposed to be

Hurston s Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston
Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly. Sometime or ruther,
Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his sowing said Delia Jones (Hurston 1024). This belief
comes true for Delia Jones in a short story Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston. In this story Sweat Hurston
illustrates the obnoxious life of a religious African American woman, Delia who continually suffers
from oppression by her wicked husband, Sykes and explored the struggle between good (Delia) and
evil (Sykes). Fortunately, at the end all the misdeeds of Sykes results in his death by being trapped in
his own tactic to scare Delia with a rattlesnake. The story reveals a sense of revenge ignited in a
desperate life of Delia because of Sykes oppression, which eventually led her to live an independent
life.
From the beginning of the story, Delia s relationship with Sykes is unusual with lots of conflicts and a
sense of revenge. Hurston has characterized Delia as a hard working wash woman who works
diligently to support her family. On the other hand, Sykes is reckless person who has failed to provide
for his family. Although, Sykes does not have a pinch of feelings for Delia, she has been bearing his
mistreatment for fifteen years. Once on a Sunday night at eleven o clock, Delia was sorting clothes
that she collected on Saturday. Meanwhile, Sykes enters and scares her with a bullwhip which looks
like a snake. He even kicks the pile of clothes and puts his dirty feet on white

How The Consumerism Of Buying Changes One s Attitude...
In the United States, companies have created the average American to be a consumer. However, the
consumerism mentality that most Americans have is akin to Godzilla. Rampaging on deals and the
opportunity to take what they think is rightfully theirs. My aim for this project was to discuss how the
consumerism of buying changes one s attitude towards others, ourselves, and our behavior of
responsibility.
Behavior of Others
The Christmas season is upon us, and an event that is always relevant to discuss is Black Friday . This
year, I went pre Black Friday shopping on the night of Thanksgiving before 10 pm. I went to the Wal
Mart, near my home, and I was alarmed; so many people clustered into the same location of the store
hoping to get decent DVDs for $1. I have heard enough horror stories to know that the nickname
Black Friday doesn t always mean good standing for economic numbers. I then went to Target and
The Castle Rock Outlet Mall. When I was at Kohls, I had a strange feeling of consumption, as there
were humorous Christmas shirts for $4.99. Consumerism doesn t just affect how we treat other people;
it also affects how we feel. I felt that certain locations that differ from socioeconomic standing, effects
interaction. At stores where merchandise costs more, there tends to be more friendly engagement; it
felt significantly less hostile.

Psychoanalytic Analysis of Shakespeare s Hamlet
If one wants to truly understand the psychological implications of William Shakespeare s Hamlet, the
primary focus should be on the character Hamlet, and how he develops and modifies throughout the
play. Using the fundamentals of the psychoanalytic perspective of critical evaluation, one would be
able to truly identify and explore the true nature of Hamlet, and the effects that his character has on the
situation surrounding him. In order to gain a true understanding of most of the detail that is implied
through Hamlet s way of portraying himself to others, it is vital to look deep into the actions that are
carried out, and analyze them psychoanalytically. Many have already written works that evaluate the
play using this method, and one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the appearance of the ghost the reader is, whether they realize it or not, being challenged to take
a position on Hamlet s state of mind. At first the reader may take it at face value assuming that a ghost
is a ghost and should be accepted as such. But after a deeper look using the psychoanalytic perspective
of critical evaluation, it becomes believable that the ghost is just a trick of Hamlet s mind used to
justify his urges to avenge his father s death, a sort of madness. It is hard to decide what to think about
Shakespeare s introduction of the ghost because of the two different ways he portrays it. Hamlet is not
the first one to see the ghost, Marcellus and Bernardo were. The next night it appeared to Horatio as
well. It was only after its first two appearances that Hamlet got a chance to see the ghost. At this point
the reader doesn t have much of a choice but to take the ghost at face value. If several characters saw
the ghost there must really be a ghost. It s not until Hamlet s second encounter with the ghost that the
reader is asked to decide whether they buy into the idea of the ghost being real. After Hamlet kills
Polonius, he has a conversation with his mother during which the ghost appears to Hamlet, but this
time he is the only one who ‘sees it, Causing the queen to question his state of mind. Alas, how is t

The Dramatic Significance of Act 3 Scene 4 of The Banquet...
The Dramatic Significance of Act 3 Scene 4 of The Banquet Scene of William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Throughout this scene we can see that both versions have been created to show the best interpretation
of the play Macbeth. Polanski s version is more realistic but I feel that it does not show the play in the
way in which Shakespeare had intended as this version was created by a film producer who had added
extra scenes and changed lines for some of the characters. He also used special effects which made the
play more of a viewing pleasure and helped create the realistic effect. The BBC version is less realistic
as it was a low budget production and was stage produced. In this production there where no ... Show

In Polanski s film, there is much more artistic license because the film isn t faced with the restrictions
that a stage production is. As such, the banquet hall is well lit and the hall is filled with guests and
slaves. Also there is bear bating in a characterisation of line 100, Approach thou like the rugged
Russian bear . This is proof of the greater artistic license that Polanski s version has, as they can even
have live animals on set. A close up of Macbeth is used at this point showing him enjoying the scene,
and this portrays the savagery of the human world. Macbeth is characterised as weaker than in the
BBC version, and the actor is younger.
Almost immediately the first murderer appears and starts to inform Macbeth of the murder they have
committed on his behalf, in the privacy of an empty hall. The murderer tells Macbeth about how they
(the murderers), dispatch d , Banquo, but how his son Fleance escaped their grasp. Macbeth is
unhappy at this news ( I had else been perfect; whole as marble, founded as the rock ), but
nevertheless he is pleased that Banquo is dead. The murderer departs as Lady Macbeth enters the hall
with the promise from Macbeth of, to morrow, we ll hear ourselves again . In Polanski s version the
murderers are killed by Macbeth s men and their blood soaked carcasses are dragged through the
castle leaving the

Social Control In Hedda Gabler
Henrik Isben s Hedda Gabler is a problem play that deals with several social conflicts that a newlywed
woman experiences when we arrives back to her home town from her honeymoon. As the daughter of
General Gabler, Hedda Gabler has been born into and grown accustom to being at the top of her town
s social hierarchy. Because of Hedda s social status and undeniable beauty she has the ability to
control and manipulate those around her but to a certain extent. The time the play was set in, women
did not have a lot of freedom to do anything outside of getting married, having children and attending
to the house. Hedda did not fit this mould that was created for women of that time. She was not very
maternal individual and reactive negatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hedda desperately needs to believe that the expectations of her society do not control ever person who
dwells within it. Eilert Løvborg serves as living proof to Hedda that a person can live their live the
way they choose to without conforming to the norms of society and she is attracted to as well as
secretly envies him for that eminence. Hedda sits at the top of the social ladder she has a long way
down if she slips up and falls below what is socially accepted and expected from her. And for that
reason she is deathly afraid of a scandal. Eilert Løvborg on the other hand, had the courage to live life
after his own mind (Ibsen 298). He led a life that was considered less than respectable in the eyes of
his community, consisting of alcohol abuse and scandalous visits to the towns women s boudoirs.
Eilert Løvborg had little self control over his actions once he started drinking and would go on binges
for days at a time. To Hedda, Eilert Løvborg was daring brave because he was able to do the very
thing that she was very afraid of which was to live life carefree from the judgments of her society. She
also enjoyed the power and control she possessed over him. When Eilert Løvborg tells her the truth
about his manuscript he confesses that Thea Elvsted has inspired him to lead nobler lifestyle: I ve lost
all desire for that [old] kind of lifestyle. I don t want to start it again, not now. It s the courage and

Pope Francis Research Paper Callie Best Essay Paper #1 Religion 220 Fall 2016 Wed @6pm Dr. Karin Heller Word Count: 1070 Comparison and Contrast between Popes When people think of the Pope, they think of a leader, admirable person, and someone who is willing to listen to opinions of the people to make them pleased. They have power, and are lead the Roman Catholic Church when in reign. These are all huge responsibilities and the Pope is judged in every aspect of these qualities. They carry much accountability and pressure from the people in the community. Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis are very similar in their styles and ways of working with the people. They also have differences amongst their philosophies. However; their similarities made a huge impact during their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The insight on women and their specific role amongst the church is what collides. When watching the PBS film, it states that even though women are very frequent in the church, their role is very small and not as important as the men. They don t have a specific role nor importance to the church. John Paul feels this is the correct way to run the system of the church. He believes this due to the fact that men can become priests and have the highest role in the church. On the other hand, Pope Francis had a big issue with this topic that he made comments about possibly changing the system in the future. According to the article by Spadero, he explains Pope Francis view of women in the life of the Church by stating, The church cannot be herself without the woman and her role. The woman is essential for the church. Mary, a woman, is more important than the bishops. I say this because we must not confuse the function with the dignity. We must therefore investigate further the role of women in the church. We have to work harder to develop a profound theology of the woman. Pope Francis believes women can make a dramatic difference in the church can help with the real word decisions the church is facing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mechanical engineers focus on creating a component, machine, or an entire process to supply people with the goods or services they want, need, or require for life. The automotive industry relies heavily on the field of mechanical engineering to improve safety, fuel consumption, and emissions control. The advancements in mechanical engineering over the past few years have improved greatly especially in the automobile industry where the engines of automobiles are quieter, faster, and more fuel efficient. • 4. Sexual Identity Development D Augelli s Model of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Development There are several theorists that have presented models on sexual identity development. Many of the models have stages of sexual identity development suggesting that certain characteristics are present during a specific period. However, Anthony D Augelli presents a model that suggests processes rather than stages. These processes take place over the span of one s life and not necessarily in any specific order or fashion. D Augelli s (1994a) life span model of lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) identity development takes into account the complex factors that influence the development of people in context over historical time (Evans et al, 2010). According to D Augelli s (1994) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The exiting heterosexual identity process requires a realization that one s feelings and attractions are not heterosexual as well as informing others that one is lesbian, gay or bisexual. Developing a personal LGB identity status involves determining for oneself the unique meaning being gay lesbian or bisexual will have in one s life. Developing an LGB social identity consists of creating a support network of people who know and accept one s sexual orientation. Becoming an LGB offspring involves disclosing one s identity to parents and redefining one s relationship after such disclosure. Developing an LGB intimacy status is the process of establishing an intimate relationship. When individuals enter an LGB community they make varying degrees of commitment to social and political action (Evans et al, 2010). It s important to note that individuals can experience any of these phases at any given time during one s life. A number of researchers have documented many different patterns of LGB ... I was initially attracted to this piece because of how beautiful the horses are depicted. They re shown with such great detail, despite it being a black figure painting, and represented as these huge, majestic beings that are being harnessed by such a small human figure. Black figure paintings were still common during this period of Ancient Greece but the style was dying out at the hands of the more detailed red figure painting style. This is an amphora, which was a prize given out at panathenaic competitions. Based on the content, this amphora was most likely given out for a horse race. I chose this bronze sculpture because it reminded me of Aphrodite of Knidos in that in both sculptures, Aphrodite is depicted as naked but covering her genitalia with her hand. Women are normally shown as clothed in Ancient Greek art, but Aphrodite is the exception since she is commonly the only female figure presented in the nude. The sculpture is in references the cause of the Trojan war when Paris chose Aphrodite as the most beautiful goddess and given the apple she is shown holding as a prize. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Marijuana Legalization Marijuana Legalization 35 million Americans use marijuana on a monthly basis, while at least 78 million Americans use at some point, according to a survey by Yahoo News/Marist College (Kate); however, marijuana is an illegal drug in most of The United States. Marijuana has been outlawed, and the potential benefits of legalization outweigh the detriments of criminalization. Marijuana can be decriminalized by affecting the general consensus of the public through social media and removing cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. There are many benefits of decriminalizing marijuana, from the ability to tax to the overall fixing of a historical problem; however, there is much more the illegality of marijuana imposes. The idea of marijuana being legalized resulting in increased drug usage rates is a fallacy. Marijuana legalization will not necessarily skyrocket the rate of which Americans use marijuana: the observed usage rate in America is 11%, while Norway, a country where the drug is legalized, has an observed rate of 7% ( Marijuana Legalization Leads to a Reduction in Crime ). This information is pertinent because it nullifies the notion of increased drug use in America as a consequence of legalization; the common user of marijuana will continue usage independent of the legality. Marijuana criminalization aids in linking illegal activities to drugs, raising the participation in the illegal activities. Violence, prostitution, and gambling are associated with ... Mediterranean World Continuities There were changes to the Mediterranean World, but also continuities from the Roman Empire in 100 CE, to the Abbasid Empire in 800 Ce, to Feudal Europe in 1000 CE. Christianity and Islam, architecture, and the status of women all changed, even though some parts of them remained the same. Christianity and Islam developed and spread. New architectural advancements were added to the already existing Roman innovations, and the status of women improved overall. Christianity and Islam became the dominant religions in the Mediterranean by 1000 CE, and as these religions spread, they became more dominant in the lives of their followers. The Romans were master engineers and were known for beginning to use the arch and dome. An example of the use of these innovations is the Aqueducts. The Aqueducts were very important to Rome because it delivered water to the huge population, meaning that the arch and dome helped build very efficient and useful buildings. The Umayyads and Abbasids on the African side of the Mediterranean continued to use the arch and dome, but also added their own style of geometric designs to their buildings because Allah could not be expressed in picture form. This is seen in the many mosques that were built, including the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. The Byzantines and Feudal Europe both also used arches and domes to build their churches. • 8. Imagery of Blood, Light and Clothing in Macbeth by William... Imagery of Blood, Light and Clothing in Macbeth by William Shakespeare Imagery, the art of making images, the product of imagination (Merriam Webster). Shakespeare uses many forms of imagery in his writing of Macbeth. Three main forms of imagery in this play are blood, light and darkness, and clothing. Within each form of this imagery Shakespeare incorporates symbols that the reader must understand if they are to interpret either the passage or the play as a whole. In Macbeth blood symbolizes many things. We have all known blood to represent life, death, and often injury. In the play, Shakespeare uses blood to represent treason, guilt, murder, and death. Shakespeare uses the word blood many times throughout Macbeth. The best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such as seen on pg.124 Act I scene v when lady Macbeth asks the spirits Make thick my blood. In this quote she wants to make herself insensitive towards the deeds that she is about to commit. Towards the end of the play blood symbolizes guilt. This is best seen on pg. 176 Act V scene ii, when Lady Macbeth states Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One: two: why, then tis time to do t. In this quote Lady Macbeth is remembering the night of the murder. It is the guilt in her soul that is making hr have these recurring nightmares. The last symbolism of blood is on pg. 185 Act II scene viii when Macduff states I have no words: my voice is in my sword, thou bloodier villian than terms can give thee out! In this quote the imagery of blood again begins to deal with honor. The second form of imagery Shakespeare uses is light and darkness. In the play Macbeth Shakespeare uses the witches, the guilt in Macbeth s soul, and the darkness of the night to establish the atmosphere. The immoral scenes of the play seem to take place at night. For instance, the vision of the dagger, the murder of Duncan, the murder of Banquo, and Lady Macbeth s sleep walking. In the opening scene the witches set the mood of the play. How Does The Statue Of Liberty Benefit The Economy The Statue of Liberty, located in New York city, NY, has represented America as a free country for years, but it is now threatened by deterioration. Lady Liberty is symbolic to millions and helps America s economy, so it is time for us to return the favor and work to preserve it. Losing the Statue of Liberty would mean losing the benefit that it gives to America s economy. Lady Liberty benefits the economy by generating employment options. The statue supports more than 2,000 jobs, as mentioned on Cnn.com. All of these jobs would be lost if Lady Liberty wore down, whereas more occupations would be created if construction began on the statue. The Statue of Liberty also provides money for America. Cnn.com states Liberty Island generates nearly 200 million dollars each year. This money comes from tours, ferry rides, restaurants, hotels, et cetera. Over time, the expense it would take to preserve the statue could be made back through the money it brings in. We clearly cannot afford to allow the Statue of Liberty to deteriorate. ... I will describe all the details I see in the paintings and come up with a conclusion of what the artist was trying to accomplish, and then conducting research to combine my thoughts with the actual meaning of the artwork. After researching, I will determine if the artist was successful in what I found they tried to accomplish in this artwork. The first five minutes I spent staring at the artwork, all I saw were lines, figures, and colors. Two hours pass and I started noticing details I had not seen before. The left side, where the shadow so happens to be located, has darker colors such as black, gray, dark blues and small amounts of red. The right side, where the women and window are located, has much brighter colors like white, yellow, and brighter blues. In the center of the artwork is a red outline of a women. The women is on her knees and hands. The arc in her back gives the sensation of vulnerability. My first explanation for this artwork is that the artist is showing a woman reflecting on her past and not being happy with what she has done. Her shadow or her decisions are haunting her present life. With the white gown, I can make the assumption that she is getting married and is looking at her past, maybe reminiscing on about another lover. She could have been young and in love. Made a couple of wrong decisions and was heartbroken. She is now afraid to love again but knows that she has a brighter future ahead of her which is why there appears to be light coming from the windows direction. The small women figure in the center of the painting could be a symbolization of her not wanting to go back to being the vulnerable girl she was. Another explanation I came up with for this artwork was centered on the anger or maybe even jealousy that her face expression portrays. By marrying, she will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This document will be maintained online and any changes will be posted to our website at www.ubswarburg.com/research/gvg. What Is a Multiple? A valuation multiple is simply an expression of market value relative to a key statistic that is assumed to relate to that value. To be useful, that statistic whether earnings, cash flow or some other measure must bear a logical relationship to the market value observed; to be seen, in fact, as the driver of that market value. Two basic types: enterprise There are two basic types of multiple enterprise value and equity: and equity multiples s s Enterprise multiples e xpress the value of an entire enterprise the value of all claims on a business relative to a statistic that relates to the entire enterprise, such as sales or EBIT. Equity multiples, by contrast, express the value of shareholders claims on the assets and cash flow of the business. An equity multiple therefore expresses the value of this claim relative ... These peace talks have always involved multiple countries. The United States has always been involved as well as the presence of the United Nations. The Israeli Palestinian conflict is currently a global issue that worries many countries around the world. The United Nations held the first peace talk in 1967 and named the talk UN 242. This talk outlined an exchange of land for peace (XXX). This talk established some guidelines that future peace talks would bring up. The next meeting was at Camp David in 1978. This conference expanded on UN 242 and a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt was signed. Egypt was the first Middle East country to recognize Israel as an independent country (XXX). There was no more peace talks until 1991 when tenses became strained between the Israelis and Palestinians again. This talk that was held in 1991 took place in Madrid, Spain. Several Arab nations were invited to this conference to encourage more peace treaties with Israel. Shortly after the Madrid Conference another meeting was held in 1993 that was dubbed the Oslo Agreement. During the Oslo Agreement, the PLO and Israel agreed to recognize each other as individual states and Israel said they would pull out of West Bank and Gaza. However, there was much opposition to this plan, so it was only partly put into practice. This agreement can be considered the most productive meeting between the two warring countries. There was another meeting at Camp David that took place in 2000. This meeting went over policies that were covered at the Oslo agreement and attempts were made to speed up the process of peace. Many people claim that they will face data privacy and security issues on using it. But, how much of this statement is true? Do others have access to your information unless and until you share them? It is true that the person having access to the GPS tracker will know the exact location of the concerned individual. With the advancement of technology and GPS manufacturers striving to strengthen security aspects, the chances of data being leaked have become negligible. • 16. Fahrenheit 451 Personal Response Essay One of the phrases that I chose to include on the poster is, THE FOOLISH. I chose this phrase because that is how the general population is perceived in this book. They easily believe what is told to them and follow the orders of anyone, making them very gullible. Society, at this point, does not really have any individuality. They follow the group opinion and no longer come up with ideas of their own. So, THE FOOLISH is the main descriptor of society, or the antagonist, Another word that I chose to include is, REMEMBER. This word was chosen because it was the duty of the protagonist, Montag, to remember his part of the story. It was vital for him to do so because it was the only way that the books were going to survive throughout the war. Montag really struggled with this job because he could never really quite comprehend what was going on, until he absolutely needed it. In addition to that, I chose the word, DEPRESSION. This was important because it affected how the reader viewed the society as a whole. MANIPULATION was also an important word added to my project. Manipulation was used very often throughout the story, especially with the character Beatty. Beatty often used long, drawn out sentences with a lot of references to confuse Montag and change his opinion on the situation. • 19. The History Of The Library Profession John Ambrosio (2013), reflecting on the history of the library profession, invokes Antonio Gramsci, who said that a critical understanding of the self also requires the development of an ethical stance, a set of values, principles, and virtues to guide one s moral conduct (Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). Lacking such ethics or praxis, librarians are vulnerable to the dominant political ideology. The way to overcome paralysis is the consciousness of what one really is and knowing oneself. It begins with taking an inventory of our historical formation with determining how we have been secretly imprinted by history; how our language, thoughts and identities have been informed by various currents of philosophical thought and cultural practices (Gramsci in Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). By examining the history of the library profession a history that conflates neutrality with equality and democracy, staffed by a cadre of professionals who trace their beginnings to a theory of library economy it is easy to imagine how neoliberal ideology found a home in the library. Many theorists recognize the fact that librarians have the potential to make progressive reforms to society (Raber, 2003, p. 47), if they would only break free of the contradictory theoretical consciousness and hegemonic norms that hold them back from doing so by suggesting that they should take no action (Bales Engle, 2012, p. 22). Many people say that the good life is living a prosperous life full of happiness. There are many different ideologies of the good life and each philosopher has their own values and beliefs. I decided to pick one of the most well known philosophers, Karl Marx. Karl Marx s philosophy is by far one of the most looked at. He called capitalism the dictatorship of the upper class. , saying that it was run by the wealthy class solely to make profit and maximize their own benefits. The end product and goal of capitalism was simply economic gain. In this philosophy there has to be organized production, which includes the means of production, such as factories, facilities, machines, and raw materials. Throughout this paper I will describe certain aspects of Karl Marx s philosophy mainly focusing on why capitalism is not the way to road to the good life. A good example of this can be looked at by recognizing the class struggle between bourgeoisie and proletariat, otherwise known as the upper and lower class. The bourgeoisie owns the means of production and the proletariats are the labor and means of production. The relationship between these two social classes is very unique. On the other hand, values determine every life decision that people makes (Determine the true purpose of money in your life, 2016). Value is the monetary worth of something, which has great influence on indivudual s behavior and attitude. When a purchase decision is made, it involves a value calculation. In general, value is measured by price. But the price does not really reflect the true value. The most common value is economic value. Beside economic value, there are cultural value and social value. Value is important to both individual and business. • 24. The Importance Of Love And Happiness As a singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey, once said, When someone else s happiness is your happiness, that is love. Love and happiness are two qualities that people seek in life; they are correlating factors in people s lives, like mine, for example. These two qualities are part of the circle of life and many believe that having the two factors in their life will lead to a good life. Like many others, I seek for love and happiness as well, but at the same time, I am already experiencing them. Generally speaking, I can experience these two factors at the same time and by the same people, but I can also just experience one and not the other or I can experience none. In my life, particularly, I can say that I often experience love and happiness from my family and friends. There are also times where I feel love and happiness from others, such as strangers, classmates, or different forms of entertainment such as: movies, shows, and social media. But of course, life also has ups and downs, so there may be moments where I experience sadness or hate from the people I love and vice versa. Which is why it is important to realize that correlation does not equal causation. The first theory that was mentioned in class was the Union Theory, which is the construction of our desire to create, maintain, and be engaged in a specific kind of union. I agree with this theory because I believe that it applies to different types of relationships, such as: friendship, romance, or family. Between those, there is a bond that is formed between you and the other person(s), love. Like the definition, I do believe that love is based on one s willingness to show such affection towards another. As contradicting as this seems, I also agree with the statement, love exists when the distinction between x s interests and y s interests are not marked anymore because one can love another but that person doesn t have to show love back. Although x may not love y the same, love still exists because y may still have some sort of affectionate feeling towards x. I believe that one sided love exists, but I also believe that love is not pure if two do not love each other the same. In other words, in order to have true love in a relationship, both parties ... A Correlation Between Emotion Focused Coping With Test Anxiety And Age Motivation can come from a variety of factors in an individual s life, stress is one of those factors that can have either a positive or a negative effect (Deckers, 2014; Heiman, 2004). Stress can appear in an individual through physiological, psychological and behavioural symptoms (Deckers, 2014). Deckers (2014) conveys that when an individual has a physiological response to stress, it is the product of hormones creating the symptom in the body, for example, nausea or sweating. In addition the psychological symptoms representing stress are identified through the level of stability of an individual s mind and feelings, and can be rated through measures of anxiousness, nervousness, self confidence, irritability or negativity of emotions (Deckers, 2014). Behavioural symptoms of stress can be enacted out by an individual through excessive or dysfunctional conduct, for example, through an increase in consumption of alcohol or caffeine, an intake of drugs, or poor sleeping habits (Deckers, 2014). Although the symptoms mentioned have an attached negative stigma, it does not necessarily follow that all encounters with it will result in negativity. Deckers (2014) explains that stress can be a motivator to a goal: if a problem arises in the pursuit of the goal, stress can occur, then an individual could be encouraged to overcome the situation to achieve their goal through coping.
