`` High Fantasy, Rites Of Passage And Cultural Value `` By...
Suspending Dis belief!
In 1992, Jean Murray Walker, in her essay, High Fantasy, Rites of Passage and Cultural Value , wrote
that children growing up in American Society experience everywhere around them the collision of
powerful interests and values. Even though they may be nurtured within a family structure, chances
are they are NOT indoctrinated into a clearly defined community of values. (Walker 109) Instead,
materialism prevails, and popular fantasy in which good (us!) prevails against evil (them!) is standard
fare. However, Walker contends, and I agree, that the best fantasy provides something more, and
presents complex and clearly defined values, not vacant symbols of of the powerful versus the
powerless. (Walker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Chappell 22) While Gaiman s The Graveyard Book takes a different approach and delves into what
is, by all accounts, unknown and unseen; it more than raises the question of what happens when one
dies and explores the physical world as well as the supernatural. Upon her death, Bod s mother
entrusts her son, a mortal being, not to other living beings, but to those who have already gone before
her those with the wisdom to raise him well. With various cautions along the way, Bod is kept safe
until he learns what he needs to learn to exist as a force for good in the world. Through disobedience
or excess curiosity, Bod sometimes finds himself in perilous situations along the way. Thoughout the
story we are reminded that life indeed is fragile; but death, for most, is not to be feared. The story
explores the existence of other spiritual beings who watch over us (the Hounds of God) and well as
some of the bad guys who once held places of honor in the current physical world. Indeed, the dance
of the macabre demonstrates that death is much closer than we think by it s inevitability and we would
do well to consider the consequences of our actions. In considering Bettleheim s reflections on the
child reader, I agree that most fantasy allows the reader to explore his/her own feelings about others
and/or the unknown from a safe vantage point. As Karen Coats reflects in her essay, Between Horror,
Human and Hope, Neil Gaiman and the Psychic Work of

Essay Television Violence
Television Violence
Violence is one of the most primary and controversial issues in today s society. And true that violence
is on the rise. A major concern for many parents is the violence within television shows and movies,
and the effect on children s aggression. I particularly do not believe that violence in television affects
children s aggression, but who am I to say such a thing, for I am not a qualified psychologist. But I
have many reasons for my accusation and references to back it up. Now television plays a major role
in today s society, and it occupies almost every home in the United States. Parents have such a big
concern for the children watching television, but children throughout the U.S watch an average of

Cartoons play the majority of the role. They have been around for centuries. So why make such a big
deal about them now? Are the cartoons in earlier years any different from newer cartoons? Yes I agree,
but there is a purpose. The
Monaco 2 newer cartoons attract the newer generation. If parents say that cartoons now are more
violent than those of earlier years than why are there so many, and so many different ratings
accompanied with the beginning of every show. What about Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck with Elmer
Fudd, and how many fights and hunting scenes there was. What about Road Runner and how many
times Wylie Coyote tried to kill him. All these cartoons amused many children in earlier years and
present years. So why start complaining now? Can parents not control their children? Maybe parents
should pay more close attention to what their children watch, instead of making excuses and blaming
others for practically their own decisions. Because it was their decision to have children, right? Like
all children s shows and movies, it let s the mind run free, and also let s the children be imaginative
within their own realm of mind. So let s not take these away, and just try to limit what they watch. Let
us rate these shows and movies. Oh yeah, the government did that. But yet parents still let children
watch the movies and shows that they did not want to watch in the first place. Is there something
wrong here? Parents complain, laws are passed to limit what

International Emergency Powers Act ( Iepa )
On November 4, 1979, Iranian revolutionaries stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took several
Americans hostage . President Carter subsequently issued executive order 12170, under the provision
of the International Emergency Powers Act (IEPA), which froze all Iranian governmental assets within
the jurisdiction of the United States . 444 days later Iran agreed to release the hostages in exchange for
the return of their seized funds and the dismissal of all legal proceedings of US nationals against Iran
and... judgments via those pending proceedings ; this agreement is the basis for the Algiers Accords .
Executive orders serve as immediate control measures for crises but often warrant criticism and
further examination.
Before the hostage crisis, Dames Moore Cooperation filed lawsuits against numerous Iranian
governmental agencies. Dames was already furious about slow progress of their case in early 1980,
but Carter s executive order effectively forced the cooperation to relegate the case with the newly
formed Claims Tribunal. Dames doubted the constitutionality of the executive actions arguing that
they exceeded constitutional limitations, so he challenged the executive order directly . Because of the
severity of the events surrounding the executive order, the case was sent directly to the Supreme
Court. Ultimately, the Court upheld executive order 12170; the issues of fund transfer and suspension
of legal claims both proved legal under the IEPA and congressional

Patience Between Caesar And Pompey The Sole Consul
Patience between Caesar and Pompey continued to wear thin, beginning with the dissolution of the
Triumvirate; the three leaders, Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus. Tensions continued to strain when the
senate appointed Pompey the Sole Consul. Appointing Pompey the Sole Consul was not meant to
offend or outrage Caesar, but soon it would become a matter of great importance. The city had been
distracted by frequent street fights between the armed bands of Clodius, a politician known for his
populist tactics; and the armed bands of T. Annius Milo, a political agitator who claimed that he was
defending the cause of the Senate. In one such fights, Clodius was killed; and his death enraged many
followers, resulting in angry mobs and riots. Followers burned his body in the Forum by a wild mob,
and the senate house destroyed during the anarchy. The senate felt obligated to confer power upon
Pompey, and so he was named Sole Consul. Under this title, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

48, Caesar transported his troops from Brundisium across the Adriatic to meet the army of Pompey,
with the few ships he had obtained. There were two battles between the armies of Caesar and Pompey.
In the first at Dyrrhachium (Pronounced: Dyratium), Caesar was defeated. Caesar then retreated across
the peninsula in the direction of Pharsalus, as to draw Pompey and his army away from their seacoast
supplies. In the second and final battle, the two armies led by their generals met in Pharsalus. With
about twenty thousand men, Caesar defeated the army of Pompey, whose army consisted over forty
thousand men. Fleeing to Egypt, Pompey was murdered. Caesar now accomplished the first part of his
plan to rule Rome by taking possession of Italy and defeating the two armies of Pompey in Spain and
Greece. He had established his title to supremacy, and honors were paid to him in Rome. He was made
a consul for five year, a tribune for life, and a dictator for one year. But his ambition had only just

American Art Project Jacquilynn Weaver HIUS 221 B38 LUO February 28, 2014 It is believable that
John Vanderlyn, in his painting Landing of Columbus, was trying to portray the success of Columbus
and his crew. Columbus heroic stance and elegant expression are made all the more impressive in
comparison to the native people who witness the event. The Native Americans are naked, fearful or
subservient, bowing down before the explorer in awe and reverence. The symbols of empire are
shown in the heroic explorer with his Christian crosses and steel swords symbolizing the significance
in the power of civilization. In 1836 of June, Congress had commissioned John Vanderlyn to paint the

with the upsetting feeling many get from reading the words of one of the Pilgrims, We sang psalms

public because of its deep religious spirit. Also, because of the clever handling of shadowing and
general carefulness, the painting has an admirable technique. In 1836, the United States government
commissioned Robert W. Weir to paint the Embarkation of the Pilgrims and hung in 1843. The

Cuban Politics And Its Effects On The United States
Alberto Korda took two photos on March 5, 1960. One of the still frames would immortalize one of
the most infamous and controversial ideologues to have ever lived. The image being draped over
millions of shirts, posters, and most significantly the Ministry of the Interior building in Cuba. Che
Guevara being celebrated by the Castro s, and his ideals forced upon Cuba by them. The Castro family
has held power in Cuba since the 1960 s. Cuba being ruled by Fidel Castro until recently his brother
Raul took charge. Both men being disliked by the global public and Fidel Castro recognized as an evil
dictator. What is many times overlooked was the fact that Che Guevara was just as pivotal to the
sinister Cuban regime. Che had major effects on the abuse of a society, Cuban politics, and the
justification of evil.
While still idolized by many, Che was far from a hero or a just man. Through the annals of history
there have always been false idols who have abused power. The individuals who lead these great
attacks on not only people that they attack but the good of humanity as a whole. Che Guevara was a
leader of the Cuban Revolution who still represents hope and anti oppression for many. Despite his

A Brazilian Concert Review
I attended a Brazilian concert named Choro das 3 on April 11,2016 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church.
I was expecting this musical to sound very festive, fun and relaxing. The instrumental group consisted
of three sisters and their father. Elisa played the Brazilian mandolin, banjo, and the clarinet. She also
writes and performs on the piano. Lia holds the harmony while she played the seven string guitar.
Their father, Eduardo, gave us the rhythm with the frame drum. Corina doubled n the piccolo. The
music I was exposed to doing the performance was Debussy called Fascia lee played by the piano. I
was not able to get the rest of the composer s entire names that were mentioned in this performance
due to their accents. What I liked about this performance was that it was family oriented and they
seemed very close and support each other in every move they make. However, I did not find anything
I did not like about this performance each selection was very beautiful. They took there time to make

Parallels Between Mrs Dalloway and The Hours
The ongoing relationship between the literary movements of modernism and post modernism is
encompassed by the intertextual relationships between Stephen Daldry s The Hours and Virginia
Woolf s Mrs Dalloway . These relationships communicate the inadequacy of previous writings to
convey trauma, cultural crisis and the deep fragmentation within their respective societies. The
immediate context of these social dialogues creates a clear division between each text, however the
intertextual similarities between minor and major characters create an effective parallel to traverse
decades, years, months and days. This is in order to assess the lasting impacts of society on an
individual s desire to escape either physically or metaphorically. ... Show more content on

The coffee was very slow ... until Mr Whitbread had finished ... Hugh was so very slow the agonising
sense of immediacy both draws our attention back to clock time whilst allowing us to delve into
Clarissa s past as she recalls that Hugh is always so absurdly slow. As reality is blurred in
psychological time, external time punctuates the novel There! Out it boomed. First a warning,
musical, then the hour, irrevocable this reminds the reader that this story is in fact occurring in a single
day and every event experienced outside of this timeframe is a figment of a characters memory. Woolf
makes these memories the focus of the novel rather than external time to create a mobile reality where
she fabricates the sense of movement by traversing time through the consciousness of her characters.
These memories therefore are from a specific point of view and therefore exclude some properties of
the remembered moment and parts of said reality may simply be dissolved in the air as the memory
fades with ongoing time.
Daldry approaches Woolf s tunnelling technique with sensitivity and subtlety in order to unify
Virginia, Laura and Clarissa. The repetitive musical score by Philip Glass creates a sense of the
cyclical nature of time and is evocative of the relentlessness of time. This too creates an illusion of
both time and timelessness as the regular rhythm simulates that of a clock as

program covers over 50 million Americans, including over 8 million disabled Americans (Raising
Medicare s Eligibility Age: A Costly Benefit Cut for Senior, 2014). With the baby boomer generation
coming to the age of Medicare eligibility there is an estimated drastic increase in the number of

There is an increase in health care advances which allows for many aging individuals to be able to live
and work past the age of 65 (current Medicare eligibility age). Some individuals make the decision to
retire at 65, even though they can continue to work, and qualify for Medicare instead of paying for
health insurance through their old employers. If the age was increased to 70 years old and the same
population continued to keep working then it would reduce the need for Medicare coverage for those
that can still qualify for benefits through their employers (Davidoff, 2003). This would continue to
save the Federal government money for Medicare. This also goes along with the life expectancy rising
which means individuals are staying on Medicare coverage for a longer period of time which means
more spending (Khimm, 2013). If the minimum eligibility age was increase then it would line up
better with the life expectancy and continue to save the Federal government more and more

Ode To A Grecian Urn By John Keats Essay
The Romantic Sentiments of Ode to a Grecian Urn. Employing the poetic style of ekphrasis, John
Keats uses his poem Ode to a Grecian Urn to study a separate work of art. Keats narrates the poem
from the perspective of one carefully studying a vase while pondering the depictions of nature, love,
and religious rites on its surface. His observations lead to to remark on the everlasting nature of
emotions evoked by the urn, as well as the beauty of the images it induces in one who would observe
it. These musings throughout the poem offer a strong indication of Romantic view which Keats held.
Romanticism placed a heavy emphasis on the importance of emotion as a source of true art and the
value of imagination. Keats description in Ode ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

negative consequences, from heartbreak to longing due to separation. However, in this single image,
frozen in time, these could never exist. Instead the single, cheerful atmosphere will perpetually
remain, and from it Keats is able to grow a larger scene with the two lovers. Beyond just notions of
love, Keats extends the same logic of the perpetuated emotions to other sentiments. Frequently, a
sense of intrigue or uncertainty is maintained within the poem. All throughout, Keats poses many
rhetorical questions. In examining one scene he asks What men or gods are these? What maidens loth?
(8). Although from following questions a general picture can be formed of men pursuing women in a
wild ecstacy (10), a dominating uncertainty remains. Later, when studying a portrayal of a sacrifice of

Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory
People of the court, here we have Mr. Roy Billy Dawson Jr., formally known as R.J. He is here today
because of an unexpected murder that occurred the morning of May 23rd between the hours of three
and four. Let me remind you that R.J. was not the only one found at the crime scene when the police
arrived. His older sister, Kayla Dawson, and his mother, Ruth Turner, were also present, standing over
a lifeless body and a pool of blood belonging to Mr. Gerald Lee Turner. We could quickly put an end
to this case by sentencing my client, R.J., life in prison, but as a victim also, R.J. does not deserve
such punishment. For 17 years, Mr. R.J. did a lot of observing. Every observation and experience
helped with his choices of actions. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory will explain how R.J. s
behavior was caused by his past.
Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory explains that people develops a skill or habit based on what
they observed during social interactions, experiences, and outside media influences (Santrock, 2011).
Bandura uses a model to explain the factors and how they connect between the environment, person,
and behavior. When discussing the person using this model, I also use his sister, Kayla, as an example
of the person being influenced. The first two reciprocal factors are how the environment influences the
person and how the person influences the environment. R.J. grew up in a whole household, but it was
not the typical American family. Roy Dawson Sr. and,

Trove Character Analysis
How to properly build a character in Trove
Have you ever asked a player on Trove what their power rank is and was astonished by their answer?
Then this is how they got where they are and what you will need to get your character or character up
to the desired level.
The first thing you need to do when it comes to becoming a top Trovain player is to look at what gives
the power to you as the player. There are three big things that make up your characters. The first one is
the level of the character. Having a max level thirty character is one of the first things you need. The
second is to keep your eye on your mastery, each level you add to your mastery you get power rank
added to all your characters. Thus, bringing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another key factor you will notice as you are leveling up your character is you are unlocking gem
slots. This is key to the power rank portion of Trove, and that s why you need to be level 30 because
by doing so you will have unlocked all gem slots and allow you to insert the maximum number of
gems onto that character.
After talking about leveling and gems a little I will go in a little deeper in the matter. To make sure you
can get into the desired portals as you level. Your face, hat, and weapon you should be changing out
with the items you pick up from dungeons if it will give you more power rank. Your end gear type will
be called Stellar gear but you will end up having to buy that from another player using the in game
currency but that will be needed later. So, in the mean time you will focus on what gear you can find
at the end of dungeons. This is also applied to the gems you will get from opening the gem boxes you
receive for completing dungeons. You want to equip the highest power ranked gem which is
commonly received after opening seventy gem boxes.
The prime goal of you leveling and stick on gear is to reach ten thousand power rank and be level
thirty. You should be able to do such by leveling the radiant gems up to level fifteen that you will find
in Uber eight world. Once you get into Uber nine world with your ten thousand power rank then you
will need to change your game play a little on what gems you will equip

Hydraulic Fracturing Is Not The Only Cause For Ethical...
Hydraulic fracturing is not the only cause for ethical concern. Mountaintop removal for the purposes
of coal mining is an incredibly harmful procedure taking place on our planet. This destructive action
being taken by companies looking to access coal underneath mountains is not only damaging to the
earth and environment, but is also affecting humans who live near these sites (The Destructive Process
of Mountaintop Removal). Companies is West Virginia and Kentucky can take virtually any mountain
they choose and level it because laws are created in the favor of coal mining companies.
The process of mountaintop removal is a drawn out process that eventually leaves the earth it is
leveling unusable. First, the mountain is cleared of trees, plants, and topsoil. The trees below are often
cleared as well to make room for the rubble that will take their place. The next step involves blasting
the top of the mountain. Ammonium nitrate explosives are used to blast through up to 1,000 feet of the
mountain in order to access coal seams (The Destructive Process of Mountaintop Removal). During
this time dust and toxic chemicals like silica, fall over surrounding areas sometimes even
neighborhoods and communities. As noted before, silica is known to cause the lung disease silicosis,
so it is disturbing that one of these removal sites is within several hundred yards of an elementary
school (Hoffman). After blasting, the coal companies dig through the debris with enormous machines.

to progression in lung cancer (Culine et al., 1994). However, other Rabs are seen to be down
regulated, such as Rab38 in melanoma compared to normal melanocytes, thus have a key role
(Mueller, Rehli, Bosserhoff, 2009).
Promoting migration is a major function of Rabs as tumour cells need to be able to invade ECM and
migrate to other sites. Rabs, especially Rab25, have roles in trafficking and recycling integrins, which
are cell adhesion molecules providing linkage of cells to the ECM (Arnaout, Goodman and Xiong,
2007), to invasion structures to facilitate migration (Recchi, and Seabra, 2012).
ECM degradation and remodeling is essential to tumour cell invasion and migration. Rabs have a
major role in secretion and activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) at the tip of invasion
structures such as invadopodia. Rabs regulate a the secretion of a variety of MMPs. Rab7 and Rab8

Chinese Influence in Japan
In the early seventh century, Japan borrowed heavily from China, taking many ideas and philosophies.
It was instituted by Prince Shotoku, the crown regent in Japan at the time. He sent emissaries to China
during the reign of the Tang Dynasty, in a movement known as the Taika Reforms. During this time,
Japan was influenced by China to unify the country in order to design a more developed country,
evident with new infrastructure being created and a new system of government implemented.
To begin with, Chinese influence in Japan gave the idea of infrastructure available to the people. First
of all, during the Taika Reforms, many roads started being constructed. This is key to the

Boeing Debt Ratios
Another factor we need to look at in our comparison is long term debt and leverage. Times interest
earned, debt to debt + equity ratio, and debt to total assets ratio are the focus of long term debt and
leverage. Times interest earned provides the relationship between the companies s earning to cover
interest payment and also ability to take in more debt. In calculations above, both companies are
capable of paying back interest payments and take more debts. However, Boeing has higher ability to
take in more debt and pay back interests comparing to Lockheed Martin. By further examine the long
term debt and leverage, debt to debt + equity and debt to total asset ratios must also be assess. These

What Is The Mood Of The Passionate Christopherd To His Love
Difference between The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher Marlowe and The Nymph s Reply to the
Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleigh are pastorals that express the author s feelings and thoughts about
nature of love. These two poems differ with each other in their tone, imagery and point of view. In The
Passionate Shepherd to His Love , Christopher Marlowe shows his idea that love is a passion
expressed by material substance and his hope that love is long lasted by the support of such gifts. In
contrast, in The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd , Sir Walter Raleigh discusses fancy material matters
are superficial as well as fleeting, thus love blustered by materialism will not last over time. ... Show

Christopher Marlowe believes in the pleasure (2) and delights (23) brought by being in love. By using
of dictions including melodious (8), fragrant (10) and finest (13), Marlowe demonstrates his great

eventually fade (9) away; the beauties of love will become rotten (16); material matters will finally be

High Five Book Analysis Blanchard and Bowles
High Five! The Magic of Working Together Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles High Five! The
Magic of Working Together by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles offers four keys to developing a
highly effective team. The authors use a parable story telling technique about a youth recreation
hockey league, the Warriors, to demonstrate how implementing the four concepts can turn around a
team to success. They parallel the process to show how the same techniques can be used in the
business world. The title High Five is used to express the practice of high fiving , the slapping of
hands in the air by teammates, to demonstrate the togetherness of a group of people coming together
with passion and excitement. The high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four members of my group are all intelligent but every week, as a group, we produce better work
than if I had done it on my own. We laughingly say we have flow and have even written flow on the
wipe board as we begin tough assignments. We have each learned each other s skill set and we depend
on each other to contribute and make the end product better. There is no individual star in our
Medaille study group. Instead we shine brightly as a single, better entity. We choose our name based
on the definition of gestalt. According to the Webster s dictionary online, gestalt is defined as: a
structure, arrangement, or pattern of physical, biological, or psychological phenomena so integrated as
to constitute a functional unit with properties not derivable by summation of its parts (www.merriam
webster.com). I think what the authors are saying has been proven in how we developed our learning
team. We learned that we were better together than we were individually. Our commitment to the team
grew stronger because we recognized our output was better if done collectively. 4. Keeping the accent
on the positive by repeated reward and recognition. The last part of the team performance equation is
that individuals and teams need positive recognition. Concentrating on the positives, rather then the
negatives, allows employees to focus on doing better because they want to hear positive recognition.
The focus should be on how to perform more

Analysis Of The Dance Field By Frank Lloyd Wright
On May 11, 1894 in Allegany City, Pennsylvania soon to be Pittsburg, Pennsylvania a legend was
born. Little did Jane and George Graham know that their last name would have worldwide recognition
thanks to their daughter, Martha. Martha Graham s work in the dance field has been compared to
Picasso s work in visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright s work in architecture, and the influence of
Stravinsky on music. The Graham family moved to California in the 1910 s, and when Graham was
17, she went to see her first ever dance performance. She saw Ruth St. Denis, a modern dance pioneer,
perform in Los Angeles. Graham was so inspired that she begged her parents to allow her to study
dance. Being strong Presbyterians, her parents didn t exactly support the idea. Despite what her
parents thought, Graham enrolled herself in an arts oriented junior college. After her father died, she
started attending the new Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by St. Denis and
her husband, Ted Shawn. What Graham learned there would fundamentally shape her dancing style
moving forward. Pretty soon Graham s technique was strong enough to start working professionally as
a dancer. Her passionate, emotional performance style gained her the attention of the nation. As the
years progressed, Graham transitioned from performer to choreographer. The life of a dancer isn t
always well funded, so when Graham was offered teaching opportunities in New York City, she took
them. In 1926, at age

Understanding Cultural Differences Between The World And...
Introduction: There are around 196 countries in the world and the cultures and values differ between
the different countries. There are still similarities in some of the culture traits. In today s world people
are more willing to engage in global business and for this reason they need to be able to adapt to the
different cultures. As the cultures vary from country to country, people around the world may face
many difficulties during their communication. Many businesses have failed due to the fact that they
failed to fully assess the market they were entering in. The paper will portray three different
approaches that will aid in understanding cultural differences that can be utilized as effective tools in
conducting global business. These approaches are known as the context approach, the cluster approach
and the dimension approach. 1. Context Approach: This is one of the three main approaches to
understand cultural differences. Context approach is considered as the most straightforward as it relies
on a single dimension. In addition, there are two parts of the context approach, known as: (i) High
context cultures and (ii) Low context cultures. The two types of contexts have different cultures,
values, norms, and ways of thinking. In low context cultures such as North American and Western
European countries, communication usually takes place at face value whereas, in high context cultures
such as Asian and African countries, communication relies upon unspoken condition. They

Theory Application Of Learning Mechanisms Of Change...
Theorist Theory Description Characteristics of the Theory Process Application of Learning
Mechanisms of Change Reaction when theory is applied Basic Observation Outcomes Bandura (1977)
Social Learning Theory: Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory believes that learning occurs in a
social context through observation, imitation, and direct instruction. It comprises of attention,
retention, reproduction, and motivation. *Attention *Retention *Reproduction *Motivation *Attention
this implies that to accurately learn by observation, a person must pay attention to the person doing the
modeling and should steer away from any possible distraction. *Retention this is a poignant part of the
social learning process as the behavior may have been observed, but it is not always remembered
which thus prevents imitation or mimicry (McLeod, 2006). *Reproduction this is the process where
the student practices the recently learned behavior, and it is majorly dependent on the physical
capabilities of the observer to reproduce the behavior. *Motivation a person has to value the benefit of
continuously performing the action. Therefore, this development is often driven by positive
reinforcement for demonstrating the behavior correctly or punishment for applying the behavior
inappropriately (Sincero, 2011). Bandura s Social Learning Theory has been used to understand the
behavior of children in a social setting. For example, a new student who observes how his/her peers

Comparing Latency Periods And Amplitude Periods
COMPARISON OF LATENCY PERIOD AND AMPLITUDE OF TWO SIMPLE SPINAL REFLEX
PATHWAYS AND THE INFLUENCE OF THE JENDRASSIK MANEUVER ON EACH
RESPONSE
Jacob Simmons, Adam Middleton, Hamilton Moore, Max Smith, Trey Dickinson
University of Mississippi, Dept. of Biology, University, MS. 38677
A simple spinal reflex is a reflex involuntary, graded, patterned response to a stimulus that is produced
via a single synapse between sensory axons and motor neurons and confined to the spinal cord. In this
experiment, two simple spinal reflexes the myotactic reflex and the H reflex were stimulated. We
compared a) the latency period the amount of time between a stimulus and the effector response and
the amplitude magnitude of an electrical signal of each reflex; then, b) the effect of the Jendrassik
Maneuver (JM) upon the latency period and amplitude of each respective reflex. For the myotactic
response, a mechanical stimulus, a sharp strike of the patellar tendon, was utilized to elicit a signal in
stretch receptors; however, to trigger the H reflex, an electrical impulse was applied. These reflexes
originate from an action potential produced by a sensory neuron when a stimulus is applied. Sensory
neurons transmit the action potentials to an integrating center the spinal cord where a response is
determined. Then, this response is taken back to the effector organ via motor neurons. The reflex
occurs while the brain is becoming aware of the stimulus. Furthermore, the myotactic reflex is

Malcolm Gladwell s Outliers
Like no other before it, Malcolm Gladwell s Outliers gives insight into a world of success only a select
few are able to view firsthand. Gladwell portrays date of birth, economic status, and obstacles that are
overcome by luck rather than perseverance as the key ingredients for a recipe of triumph. Time and
education seem to be the underlying factors while socio economic status also plays a sizable role in
determining who succeeds and who does not. While I do not consider myself an outlier currently, as so
many of my peers and schoolmates enjoy what I enjoy, it is very clear that, given the opportunities
afforded to me, it may not be long before I am considered an outlier and achieve success, both on a
monetary and mental level.
Joe Flom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a young age, accomplishment is associated first with monetary gain and then with going to a
good college. While my peers and I are currently fixated on the latter, Outliers has shown us there is
no need to be. With Nobel prize winners coming from anywhere from MIT to Holy Cross and
Stanford to Rollins (Gladwell, 81 82), success is not determined by the higher learning institution one
chooses to go to, although it certainly does not hurt to attend a prestigious one. As I look to the
application process I am deterred by many things that should send me towards success. Being a
Caucasian, upper middle class citizen, I am perhaps the most replaceable student in the world with
thousands just like me, hoping for the same chance I look forward too. However, I feel it is what I
have done in the summers that will set me apart. Karl Alexander realized that privileged students tend
to outlearn underprivileged children over the summer, something I am beginning to see more clearly.
This past summer, I was fortunate enough to be part of the 6 percent accepted to the Stanford Pre
Collegiate Summer Institutes for Business and Entrepreneurship. It took only a few days to realize that
I was the only true white kid . With the majority coming from Asian descent, the only other kid at the
camp who may have been Caucasian came from a Panamanian family. As I noticed this, I realized

Chronic Chest Pain Research Paper
Chronic chest pain CAD is something that many people may experience at one point in life. Chest
pain may have stem from certain things; the most common is CAD. CAD or Coronary artery disease
is when the major blood vessels of the heart become hardened or narrowed with damage or disease,
like plaque or cholesterol containing deposits. As the wall is damaged plaque and other materials
begin to accumulate in that damaged area; as plaque breaks away the platelets will try to repair the
site, causing a blockage or narrowing of the artery.
When blood flow to the heart begins to decrease, the heart is deprived of oxygen rich blood. This may
end up causing chest pain/angina; it may simulate the feeling of an elephant standing on the patient s
chest. Chest pain can range from a dull ache, a crushing or burning feeling, or a sharp stabbing pain;
this pain may radiate down the neck or shoulder. CAD is thought to begin as early as childhood, some
contributing risk factors may include: smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or
insulin resistance, sedentary lifestyle, and genetic disposition. ... Show more content on

Montag is talking with Clarisee once Mildred read her scirpt : He felt his body divide itself into a
hotness and a coldness, a softness and a hardness, a trembling and a not trembling, the two halves
grinding one upon another (Bradbury 1.207 8). Not only does this show how light and dark are
fighting against eachother, but also how they are referring to Montag. He is offten refered to as light

Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease Research Paper
Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rapidly progressive form of Dementia. Early diagnosis is
important because the underlying cause of Dementia may be treatable. It appears randomly with no
apparent reason, about 10% of those who are infected receive the disease through heredity. The use of
a computerized axial tomography scan (CT) can help rule out other problems like stroke or brain
tumor. The most effective is a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), because it can reveal patterns of
abnormal brain signals and characteristics of CJD. In rare cases a brain biopsy may need to be
performed. A small piece of tissue is removed and it is examined by a Neuropathologist, usually an
MRI is sufficient. When a symptom on set happens, individuals may develop confusion, depression,
behavioral changes, impaired vision and impaired coordination. As the disease processes there may be
a loss of memory, also infected individuals may develop neuromuscular abnormalities. In later stages
of the disease, individuals may have further loss of physical, intellectual functions, a coma, and
repeated infections of the respiratory tract. Some people have life threatening and life ending
complications, that develop less than a year after being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abnormal changes happen in the brain, and it appears as a sponge like holes and gaps, causing
deterioration in the areas of the brain. This can turn into spongiform degeneration that results in the
progressive neurological and neuromuscular symptoms that are associated with CJD. This disorder is
a result from a mutation in the gene that regulates the production of the human protein or direct
transmission with abnormal protein in infected brain tissue. Scientist believe that there is a
transmissible agent that is responsible for causing CJD. This is a slow virus, since it can take many
years from exposure to the appearance of

  • 2. `` High Fantasy, Rites Of Passage And Cultural Value `` By... Suspending Dis belief! In 1992, Jean Murray Walker, in her essay, High Fantasy, Rites of Passage and Cultural Value , wrote that children growing up in American Society experience everywhere around them the collision of powerful interests and values. Even though they may be nurtured within a family structure, chances are they are NOT indoctrinated into a clearly defined community of values. (Walker 109) Instead, materialism prevails, and popular fantasy in which good (us!) prevails against evil (them!) is standard fare. However, Walker contends, and I agree, that the best fantasy provides something more, and presents complex and clearly defined values, not vacant symbols of of the powerful versus the powerless. (Walker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Chappell 22) While Gaiman s The Graveyard Book takes a different approach and delves into what is, by all accounts, unknown and unseen; it more than raises the question of what happens when one dies and explores the physical world as well as the supernatural. Upon her death, Bod s mother entrusts her son, a mortal being, not to other living beings, but to those who have already gone before her those with the wisdom to raise him well. With various cautions along the way, Bod is kept safe until he learns what he needs to learn to exist as a force for good in the world. Through disobedience or excess curiosity, Bod sometimes finds himself in perilous situations along the way. Thoughout the story we are reminded that life indeed is fragile; but death, for most, is not to be feared. The story explores the existence of other spiritual beings who watch over us (the Hounds of God) and well as some of the bad guys who once held places of honor in the current physical world. Indeed, the dance of the macabre demonstrates that death is much closer than we think by it s inevitability and we would do well to consider the consequences of our actions. In considering Bettleheim s reflections on the child reader, I agree that most fantasy allows the reader to explore his/her own feelings about others and/or the unknown from a safe vantage point. • 4. Essay Television Violence Television Violence Violence is one of the most primary and controversial issues in today s society. And true that violence is on the rise. A major concern for many parents is the violence within television shows and movies, and the effect on children s aggression. I particularly do not believe that violence in television affects children s aggression, but who am I to say such a thing, for I am not a qualified psychologist. But I have many reasons for my accusation and references to back it up. Now television plays a major role in today s society, and it occupies almost every home in the United States. Parents have such a big concern for the children watching television, but children throughout the U.S watch an average of twenty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cartoons play the majority of the role. They have been around for centuries. So why make such a big deal about them now? Are the cartoons in earlier years any different from newer cartoons? Yes I agree, but there is a purpose. The Monaco 2 newer cartoons attract the newer generation. If parents say that cartoons now are more violent than those of earlier years than why are there so many, and so many different ratings accompanied with the beginning of every show. What about Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck with Elmer Fudd, and how many fights and hunting scenes there was. What about Road Runner and how many times Wylie Coyote tried to kill him. All these cartoons amused many children in earlier years and present years. So why start complaining now? Can parents not control their children? Maybe parents should pay more close attention to what their children watch, instead of making excuses and blaming others for practically their own decisions. Because it was their decision to have children, right? Like all children s shows and movies, it let s the mind run free, and also let s the children be imaginative within their own realm of mind. So let s not take these away, and just try to limit what they watch. Let us rate these shows and movies. Oh yeah, the government did that. But yet parents still let children watch the movies and shows that they did not want to watch in the first place. Is there something wrong here? Parents complain, laws are passed to limit what ... • 5. International Emergency Powers Act ( Iepa ) On November 4, 1979, Iranian revolutionaries stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and took several Americans hostage . President Carter subsequently issued executive order 12170, under the provision of the International Emergency Powers Act (IEPA), which froze all Iranian governmental assets within the jurisdiction of the United States . 444 days later Iran agreed to release the hostages in exchange for the return of their seized funds and the dismissal of all legal proceedings of US nationals against Iran and... judgments via those pending proceedings ; this agreement is the basis for the Algiers Accords . Executive orders serve as immediate control measures for crises but often warrant criticism and further examination. Before the hostage crisis, Dames Moore Cooperation filed lawsuits against numerous Iranian governmental agencies. Dames was already furious about slow progress of their case in early 1980, but Carter s executive order effectively forced the cooperation to relegate the case with the newly formed Claims Tribunal. Dames doubted the constitutionality of the executive actions arguing that they exceeded constitutional limitations, so he challenged the executive order directly . Because of the severity of the events surrounding the executive order, the case was sent directly to the Supreme Court. Ultimately, the Court upheld executive order 12170; the issues of fund transfer and suspension of legal claims both proved legal under the IEPA and congressional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Patience Between Caesar And Pompey The Sole Consul Patience between Caesar and Pompey continued to wear thin, beginning with the dissolution of the Triumvirate; the three leaders, Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus. Tensions continued to strain when the senate appointed Pompey the Sole Consul. Appointing Pompey the Sole Consul was not meant to offend or outrage Caesar, but soon it would become a matter of great importance. The city had been distracted by frequent street fights between the armed bands of Clodius, a politician known for his populist tactics; and the armed bands of T. Annius Milo, a political agitator who claimed that he was defending the cause of the Senate. In one such fights, Clodius was killed; and his death enraged many followers, resulting in angry mobs and riots. Followers burned his body in the Forum by a wild mob, and the senate house destroyed during the anarchy. The senate felt obligated to confer power upon Pompey, and so he was named Sole Consul. There were two battles between the armies of Caesar and Pompey. In the first at Dyrrhachium (Pronounced: Dyratium), Caesar was defeated. Caesar then retreated across the peninsula in the direction of Pharsalus, as to draw Pompey and his army away from their seacoast supplies. In the second and final battle, the two armies led by their generals met in Pharsalus. With about twenty thousand men, Caesar defeated the army of Pompey, whose army consisted over forty thousand men. Fleeing to Egypt, Pompey was murdered. Caesar now accomplished the first part of his plan to rule Rome by taking possession of Italy and defeating the two armies of Pompey in Spain and Greece. He had established his title to supremacy, and honors were paid to him in Rome. He was made a consul for five year, a tribune for life, and a dictator for one year. But his ambition had only just ... American Art Project American Art Project Jacquilynn Weaver HIUS 221 B38 LUO February 28, 2014 It is believable that John Vanderlyn, in his painting Landing of Columbus, was trying to portray the success of Columbus and his crew. Columbus heroic stance and elegant expression are made all the more impressive in comparison to the native people who witness the event. The Native Americans are naked, fearful or subservient, bowing down before the explorer in awe and reverence. The symbols of empire are shown in the heroic explorer with his Christian crosses and steel swords symbolizing the significance in the power of civilization. Trumbull, although he added extra people in his painting, depicted a clear message about George Washington and his resignation. The Embarkation of the Pilgrims by Robert Weir affects many people with the upsetting feeling many get from reading the words of one of the Pilgrims, We sang psalms and were merry. The painting is gloomy, hard and uninteresting, but depicts the respect of the general public because of its deep religious spirit. Also, because of the clever handling of shadowing and general carefulness, the painting has an admirable technique. In 1836, the United States government commissioned Robert W. Weir to paint the Embarkation of the Pilgrims and hung in 1843. The Mexican war was an event that inspired Weirs painting. The moral and geographic greatnesses were absolutely holey understandings. In other words, when the land was conquered through an event like the Mexican War, it was ultimately acceptable by the righteous promise of the Embarkation. The painting represents significant historical moments leading to the founding of the American Republic. The painting clearly depicts the Pilgrim families gathered around their pastor, John Robinson, for a farewell service on the deck of the Speedwell before its departure from Holland. One of the still frames would immortalize one of the most infamous and controversial ideologues to have ever lived. The image being draped over millions of shirts, posters, and most significantly the Ministry of the Interior building in Cuba. Che Guevara being celebrated by the Castro s, and his ideals forced upon Cuba by them. The Castro family has held power in Cuba since the 1960 s. Cuba being ruled by Fidel Castro until recently his brother Raul took charge. Both men being disliked by the global public and Fidel Castro recognized as an evil dictator. What is many times overlooked was the fact that Che Guevara was just as pivotal to the sinister Cuban regime. Che had major effects on the abuse of a society, Cuban politics, and the justification of evil. While still idolized by many, Che was far from a hero or a just man. Through the annals of history there have always been false idols who have abused power. The individuals who lead these great attacks on not only people that they attack but the good of humanity as a whole. Che Guevara was a leader of the Cuban Revolution who still represents hope and anti oppression for many. Despite his later vile and atrocious acts he is still mistakenly viewed as an icon a facade of what is imagined of him to be. • 9. A Brazilian Concert Review I attended a Brazilian concert named Choro das 3 on April 11,2016 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church. I was expecting this musical to sound very festive, fun and relaxing. The instrumental group consisted of three sisters and their father. Elisa played the Brazilian mandolin, banjo, and the clarinet. She also writes and performs on the piano. Lia holds the harmony while she played the seven string guitar. Their father, Eduardo, gave us the rhythm with the frame drum. Corina doubled n the piccolo. The music I was exposed to doing the performance was Debussy called Fascia lee played by the piano. I was not able to get the rest of the composer s entire names that were mentioned in this performance due to their accents. What I liked about this performance was that it was family oriented and they seemed very close and support each other in every move they make. However, I did not find anything I did not like about this performance each selection was very beautiful. They took there time to make sure every instrument was tuned right. • 11. Parallels Between Mrs Dalloway and The Hours The ongoing relationship between the literary movements of modernism and post modernism is encompassed by the intertextual relationships between Stephen Daldry s The Hours and Virginia Woolf s Mrs Dalloway . These relationships communicate the inadequacy of previous writings to convey trauma, cultural crisis and the deep fragmentation within their respective societies. The immediate context of these social dialogues creates a clear division between each text, however the intertextual similarities between minor and major characters create an effective parallel to traverse decades, years, months and days. This is in order to assess the lasting impacts of society on an individual s desire to escape either physically or metaphorically. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The coffee was very slow ... until Mr Whitbread had finished ... Hugh was so very slow the agonising sense of immediacy both draws our attention back to clock time whilst allowing us to delve into Clarissa s past as she recalls that Hugh is always so absurdly slow. As reality is blurred in psychological time, external time punctuates the novel There! Out it boomed. First a warning, musical, then the hour, irrevocable this reminds the reader that this story is in fact occurring in a single day and every event experienced outside of this timeframe is a figment of a characters memory. Woolf makes these memories the focus of the novel rather than external time to create a mobile reality where she fabricates the sense of movement by traversing time through the consciousness of her characters. These memories therefore are from a specific point of view and therefore exclude some properties of the remembered moment and parts of said reality may simply be dissolved in the air as the memory fades with ongoing time. Daldry approaches Woolf s tunnelling technique with sensitivity and subtlety in order to unify Virginia, Laura and Clarissa. The repetitive musical score by Philip Glass creates a sense of the cyclical nature of time and is evocative of the relentlessness of time. This too creates an illusion of both time and timelessness as the regular rhythm simulates that of a clock as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This program covers over 50 million Americans, including over 8 million disabled Americans (Raising Medicare s Eligibility Age: A Costly Benefit Cut for Senior, 2014). With the baby boomer generation coming to the age of Medicare eligibility there is an estimated drastic increase in the number of individuals participating in Medicare for their health insurance (Elmendorf, 2013). There is an increase in health care advances which allows for many aging individuals to be able to live and work past the age of 65 (current Medicare eligibility age). Some individuals make the decision to retire at 65, even though they can continue to work, and qualify for Medicare instead of paying for health insurance through their old employers. If the age was increased to 70 years old and the same population continued to keep working then it would reduce the need for Medicare coverage for those that can still qualify for benefits through their employers (Davidoff, 2003). This would continue to save the Federal government money for Medicare. This also goes along with the life expectancy rising which means individuals are staying on Medicare coverage for a longer period of time which means more spending (Khimm, 2013). Employing the poetic style of ekphrasis, John Keats uses his poem Ode to a Grecian Urn to study a separate work of art. Keats narrates the poem from the perspective of one carefully studying a vase while pondering the depictions of nature, love, and religious rites on its surface. His observations lead to to remark on the everlasting nature of emotions evoked by the urn, as well as the beauty of the images it induces in one who would observe it. These musings throughout the poem offer a strong indication of Romantic view which Keats held. He claims that happiness in the image is All breathing human passion far above, / that leaves a heart high sorrowful and cloy d, / a burning forehead, and a parching tongue. (27 30). With human passion, there will always exist negative consequences, from heartbreak to longing due to separation. However, in this single image, frozen in time, these could never exist. Instead the single, cheerful atmosphere will perpetually remain, and from it Keats is able to grow a larger scene with the two lovers. Beyond just notions of love, Keats extends the same logic of the perpetuated emotions to other sentiments. Frequently, a sense of intrigue or uncertainty is maintained within the poem. All throughout, Keats poses many rhetorical questions. In examining one scene he asks What men or gods are these? What maidens loth? (8). Although from following questions a general picture can be formed of men pursuing women in a wild ecstacy (10), a dominating uncertainty remains. Later, when studying a portrayal of a sacrifice of a cow, Keats poses more questions, asking What little town by river or seashore / ... is empty of this folk this pious morn? • 15. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory People of the court, here we have Mr. Roy Billy Dawson Jr., formally known as R.J. He is here today because of an unexpected murder that occurred the morning of May 23rd between the hours of three and four. Let me remind you that R.J. was not the only one found at the crime scene when the police arrived. His older sister, Kayla Dawson, and his mother, Ruth Turner, were also present, standing over a lifeless body and a pool of blood belonging to Mr. Gerald Lee Turner. We could quickly put an end to this case by sentencing my client, R.J., life in prison, but as a victim also, R.J. does not deserve such punishment. For 17 years, Mr. R.J. did a lot of observing. Every observation and experience helped with his choices of actions. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory will explain how R.J. s behavior was caused by his past. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory explains that people develops a skill or habit based on what they observed during social interactions, experiences, and outside media influences (Santrock, 2011). Bandura uses a model to explain the factors and how they connect between the environment, person, and behavior. When discussing the person using this model, I also use his sister, Kayla, as an example of the person being influenced. The first two reciprocal factors are how the environment influences the person and how the person influences the environment. Mountaintop removal for the purposes of coal mining is an incredibly harmful procedure taking place on our planet. This destructive action being taken by companies looking to access coal underneath mountains is not only damaging to the earth and environment, but is also affecting humans who live near these sites (The Destructive Process of Mountaintop Removal). Companies is West Virginia and Kentucky can take virtually any mountain they choose and level it because laws are created in the favor of coal mining companies. The process of mountaintop removal is a drawn out process that eventually leaves the earth it is leveling unusable. First, the mountain is cleared of trees, plants, and topsoil. The trees below are often cleared as well to make room for the rubble that will take their place. The next step involves blasting the top of the mountain. Ammonium nitrate explosives are used to blast through up to 1,000 feet of the mountain in order to access coal seams (The Destructive Process of Mountaintop Removal). During this time dust and toxic chemicals like silica, fall over surrounding areas sometimes even neighborhoods and communities. As noted before, silica is known to cause the lung disease silicosis, so it is disturbing that one of these removal sites is within several hundred yards of an elementary school (Hoffman). • 20. Human Migration Is A Major Function Of Rabs As Tumor Cell... More than 60 Rab GTPases have been found, and they each have a particular function in vesicular transport in a cell (Hutagalung and Novick, 2011). For example, Rab 27a and Rab27b are of particular interest in melanoma due to their function of melanosome transport. (Figure 5) Rab27a has been identified as a tumour dependency gene in melanoma (Akavia et al., 2010). 1.4.2 Roles of Rab proteins in cancer Depending on the tumour cell type, there will be differing expression of Rabs. For example, Rab31 overexpression is linked to a poorer outcome in breast cancer (Kotzsch, et al. 2008) and Rab2 is linked to progression in lung cancer (Culine et al., 1994). However, other Rabs are seen to be down regulated, such as Rab38 in melanoma compared to normal melanocytes, thus have a key role (Mueller, Rehli, Bosserhoff, 2009). Promoting migration is a major function of Rabs as tumour cells need to be able to invade ECM and migrate to other sites. Rabs, especially Rab25, have roles in trafficking and recycling integrins, which are cell adhesion molecules providing linkage of cells to the ECM (Arnaout, Goodman and Xiong, 2007), to invasion structures to facilitate migration (Recchi, and Seabra, 2012). ECM degradation and remodeling is essential to tumour cell invasion and migration. Rabs have a major role in secretion and activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) at the tip of invasion structures such as invadopodia. Rabs regulate a the secretion of a variety of MMPs. Martha Graham s work in the dance field has been compared to Picasso s work in visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright s work in architecture, and the influence of Stravinsky on music. The Graham family moved to California in the 1910 s, and when Graham was 17, she went to see her first ever dance performance. She saw Ruth St. Denis, a modern dance pioneer, perform in Los Angeles. Graham was so inspired that she begged her parents to allow her to study dance. Being strong Presbyterians, her parents didn t exactly support the idea. Despite what her parents thought, Graham enrolled herself in an arts oriented junior college. After her father died, she started attending the new Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by St. Denis and her husband, Ted Shawn. There are still similarities in some of the culture traits. In today s world people are more willing to engage in global business and for this reason they need to be able to adapt to the different cultures. As the cultures vary from country to country, people around the world may face many difficulties during their communication. Many businesses have failed due to the fact that they failed to fully assess the market they were entering in. The paper will portray three different approaches that will aid in understanding cultural differences that can be utilized as effective tools in conducting global business. These approaches are known as the context approach, the cluster approach and the dimension approach. 1. Context Approach: This is one of the three main approaches to understand cultural differences. Context approach is considered as the most straightforward as it relies on a single dimension. In addition, there are two parts of the context approach, known as: (i) High context cultures and (ii) Low context cultures. The two types of contexts have different cultures, values, norms, and ways of thinking. In low context cultures such as North American and Western European countries, communication usually takes place at face value whereas, in high context cultures such as Asian and African countries, communication relies upon unspoken condition. • 27. Theory Application Of Learning Mechanisms Of Change... Theorist Theory Description Characteristics of the Theory Process Application of Learning Mechanisms of Change Reaction when theory is applied Basic Observation Outcomes Bandura (1977) Social Learning Theory: Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory believes that learning occurs in a social context through observation, imitation, and direct instruction. It comprises of attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation. *Attention *Retention *Reproduction *Motivation *Attention this implies that to accurately learn by observation, a person must pay attention to the person doing the modeling and should steer away from any possible distraction. *Retention this is a poignant part of the social learning process as the behavior may have been observed, but it is not always remembered which thus prevents imitation or mimicry (McLeod, 2006). *Reproduction this is the process where the student practices the recently learned behavior, and it is majorly dependent on the physical capabilities of the observer to reproduce the behavior. *Motivation a person has to value the benefit of continuously performing the action. Therefore, this development is often driven by positive reinforcement for demonstrating the behavior correctly or punishment for applying the behavior inappropriately (Sincero, 2011). Comparing Latency Periods And Amplitude Periods COMPARISON OF LATENCY PERIOD AND AMPLITUDE OF TWO SIMPLE SPINAL REFLEX PATHWAYS AND THE INFLUENCE OF THE JENDRASSIK MANEUVER ON EACH RESPONSE Jacob Simmons, Adam Middleton, Hamilton Moore, Max Smith, Trey Dickinson University of Mississippi, Dept. of Biology, University, MS. 38677 A simple spinal reflex is a reflex involuntary, graded, patterned response to a stimulus that is produced via a single synapse between sensory axons and motor neurons and confined to the spinal cord. In this experiment, two simple spinal reflexes the myotactic reflex and the H reflex were stimulated. We compared a) the latency period the amount of time between a stimulus and the effector response and the amplitude magnitude of an electrical signal of each reflex; then, b) the effect of the Jendrassik Maneuver (JM) upon the latency period and amplitude of each respective reflex. For the myotactic response, a mechanical stimulus, a sharp strike of the patellar tendon, was utilized to elicit a signal in stretch receptors; however, to trigger the H reflex, an electrical impulse was applied. These reflexes originate from an action potential produced by a sensory neuron when a stimulus is applied. Sensory neurons transmit the action potentials to an integrating center the spinal cord where a response is determined. Then, this response is taken back to the effector organ via motor neurons. The reflex occurs while the brain is becoming aware of the stimulus. Furthermore, the myotactic reflex is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chest pain may have stem from certain things; the most common is CAD. CAD or Coronary artery disease is when the major blood vessels of the heart become hardened or narrowed with damage or disease, like plaque or cholesterol containing deposits. As the wall is damaged plaque and other materials begin to accumulate in that damaged area; as plaque breaks away the platelets will try to repair the site, causing a blockage or narrowing of the artery. When blood flow to the heart begins to decrease, the heart is deprived of oxygen rich blood. This may end up causing chest pain/angina; it may simulate the feeling of an elephant standing on the patient s chest. Chest pain can range from a dull ache, a crushing or burning feeling, or a sharp stabbing pain; this pain may radiate down the neck or shoulder.
