The Science Of The Earth Essay
Introduction
The science that is connected with planet earth encompasses geosciences or earth science among
others. Containing old histories, this is considered as a part of planetary science while it possesses
holistic and reductionist approaches in the science of the planet Earth. This discipline can cope with
lithosphere, atmosphere, biosphere or hydrosphere. Quantitative understanding has been developed by
the scientists to understand the ground systems with the tools by mathematics, physics, chronology,
biology, chemistry alike that help to know how the universe is evolved.
Deliberations
According to a news release from NASA, coronal mass ejections caused by geomagnetic storms have
been enhanced in strength; as from G1 to G5, they were rated G3 in 2012. The earth planet is
surrounded and by bubbles of magnetic fields while rapid changes in the earth magnetosphere were
witnessed due to activities that happened on sun that caused a geomagnetic storm. With earth s
magnetic fields, coronal mass ejections were mingled; as a result, the wind became mild in intensity
reported in the month of March in the corresponding year (Philips, 2009).
On the other hand, the geomagnetic storms have been intensified and enhanced in their frequency as
magnetic fields of coronal mass ejections indulges with that of the earth that causes change of
direction and leave more radiation and magnetic energy into the environment of the planet earth. Solar

The Importance Of Sustainable Water Practices For The...
Sustainability is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability
of future generations to meet their own needs (World Commission on Environment and Development,
1987). Water is a principal compound for human life across the globe. Although there is of 1.4×109
km3 of Water on Earth, only 0.37% of that is drinkable (Murphy, 2004). The inability to access this
clean water then causes water borne diseases, particularly in poorer nations, such as Cambodia where
only 14% of the population has access to drinkable water (Brinkley, 2011). This is then the reasoning
behind the 3.4million deaths annually by water borne diseases within the developing world (World
Health organisation, 2001). As 70L of water/day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some assumptions made within this report are that clean water is safely stored and does not impact on

2 BIO SAND FILTERS
2.1 Design
There are seven components to a biosand filter design. These are; the lid, diffuser, sand layer, outlet
tube, filter body, gravel layer and the separated gravel layer (Cawst, 2009). All of these components
all contribute to the purification of water. The purpose of the lid is to protect the water from any
external contamination. The diffuser is a plastic sheet with holes drilled into it and protects the
biolayer while the water is being poured in (CDC, 2014). This is achieved through slowing down the
rate of the water. The third component is the sand layer and this removes any suspended solids within
the water. This is able to occur through the use of mechanical trapping and the solids being trapped in
between the grains of sand (Cawst, 2009). The separating gravel layer is purely placed in the filter to
support the sand layer on top while the drainage gravel layer s purpose is to support the flow of water
into the outlet tube. The use of bigger rocks is used for this drainage layer to prevent smaller rocks
accessing this outlet tube (Cawst, 2009). The outlet tube brings the water from the bottom of the

Anne Bradstreet Use Figurative Language In Upon The...
This quote is from Anne Bradstreet s poem, Upon the Burning of Our House, and shows Bradstreet s
belief in God is very strong. In this poem, Bradstreet s house is burning, but instead of being
extremely downtrodden, Bradstreet praises God. Bradstreet believes that God is helping her realize the
value of materialistic items and that He is saving her from being lost in them. In this quote, Bradstreet
uses figurative language and her belief in God to describe her situation. Bradstreet uses figurative
language when she describes her goods which then laid in the dust . She is saddened by her loss of her
favorite items, and how they laid in the ashes of her burnt house. However, she also blesses God for
taking the items away from her. She blest his Name that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

About two hours in the night, my sweet babe like a lamb departed this life... I cannot but take notice
how at another time I could not bear to be in the room where any dead person was, but now the case is
changed; I must and could lie down by my dead babe, side by side all the night after. I have thought
since of the wonderful goodness of God to me in preserving me in the use of my reason and senses in
that distressed time, that I did not use wicked and violent means to end my own miserable life.
This quote is from Mary Rowlandson s Captivity Narrative when she is with her youngest daughter,
Sarah. In Rowlandson s recollection, the family is split apart after Native Americans attack and
capture people in her town. While living in the Native American village, Sarah dies from a gunshot
wound.
Rowlandson is extremely distressed, but feels as if she is saved by God because he preserved her life
in her worst times. In this quote, Rowlandson uses rhetorical devices and imagery to detail her belief
in
God, and also her human frailty. Rowlandson states how her sweet babe like lamb departed this

Student Athletes And The National Collegiate Athletics...
Over 460,000 college students participate in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) in
the United States but research on the cohort is quantitatively and qualitatively unsupportive of athletes
on and off the field. Athletes make up a particularly stimulating population for mental health
professionals as athletes and their teams operate within their own culture and systems allowing for
mental health professionals to expand their innovative skills to deal with the multidimensional realm
of no pain, no gain . There is stereotype threat that follows athletes, the idea that athletes are less
motivated in the classroom and over privileged in comparison to their student peers. In turn, peers and
professors alike create their own biases towards or against the benefit of the student athlete; not
allowing make up assignments for class time missed due to collegiate athletic events or, on the other
end of the spectrum, giving preferential treatment to athletes (in turn perpetuating the negative
stereotype). Although research indicates this threat to be strong, research also indicates that the
stereotype is seemingly unfounded. Student athletes are recruited into university less academically
prepared and must devote upwards of 20 hours a week to their sport while the graduation rate for
student athletes (51%) is virtually equal to that of non student athletes (52%). (Fletcher)

The European Union s Democratic Deficit
The European Union has greatly evolved over the decades since it has begun into a well evolved quasi
state of over 28 countries, and over five hundred million citizens. The European Union has been
regarded as a method to bring democratic stability and economic prosperity to less developed
democracies in East and Central Europe. Although the European Union has a mandate to bring all of
these standards, the European Union lacks these basic standards for their overall institution. This
structural problem has given the European Union its own democratic deficit . The rise of the
democratic deficit has arisen from many undemocratic characteristics of EU institutions, and a lack of
a demos or a lack of a single socio cultural European identity. In order for a political body to remain
legitimate, it must have the trust and support of the citizens it governs, and make changes for the
continuation of its future. In other words, if the European Union does not take action to combat its
democratic deficit, the future of the European Unions institution will be at risk. Another serious issue
is the European Union has seen democratic backsliding of many Eastern European countries. This
paper will discuss the major issues that the Democratic Deficit has caused for the European Union,
and what possible reforms can be done to help fix the democratic deficit. The European Union is one
of the world s greatest economic superpowers. Although the EU does not have the police or military

The September 11th Attacks And Its Impact On The United...
The September 11th attacks became a turning point in the evolution of security systems and models in
the United States. These horrific events also challenged the security status quo around the globe. The
current evidence suggests that the level of planning in the September 11th attacks was truly
unprecedented. The complexity of the activities, systems, resources, and decisions involved eventually
translated into a terrorist attack of enormous scope and magnitude. The September 11th acts of
terrorism set the stage for reconsidering the effectiveness of all airport security methodologies and
techniques. The concern continues to be whether or not the continued improvements that are needed to
ensure that the measures implemented to boost airport security do not violate the rights of passengers.
For the passengers of the four flights hijacked on September 11, 2001, that day became the end of
everything. According to the 9/11 Commission (2004), one of the first flights to be boarded was
American 11 in Boston. In the meantime, passengers of United 175 were checking in for their flight
(9/11 Commission, 2004). The hijackers of both flights passed a number of security checks and,
without any suspicion, boarded both planes. Their aircraft pushed back from the gates without any
delays (9/11 Commission, 2004). At that same time, a group of hijackers was checking in at the
American Airlines flight 77 to Los Angeles (9/11 Commission, 2004). They passed routine security

Plastic Revolutions, Inc.(PRI) is headquartered in Reidsville, North Carolina and operates primarily
on the east coast. The company recycles various grades and forms of plastic scrap and post consumer
plastic, but their focus is on High Density Polyethylene(HPDE). After a basic Google search, we
found a few local competitors including Reily Recovery Systems, Inc., located in Haw River, North
Carolina and New Life Plastic Recycling, Inc., located in Burlington, North Carolina and various
other companies along the east coast. To confirm which companies were main competitors, we
contacted Ed Handy, General Manager at Plastic Revolutions, Inc. He confirmed that KW Plastics,
headquartered in Troy, Alabama and Envision Plastics, also located in Reidsville, North Carolina,
were their main competitors (E. Handy, personal communication, October 14, 2016).

any type of compensation to new customers or transferred prescriptions until October 2008. Walgreens
customers receive an average of four prescriptions on a monthly basis from the pharmacy (WAG
Annual Reports, 2007). With 65% of the sales revenue of the company coming from the pharmacy,
Walgreens declines to bargain with out of pocket customers over price. Regardless of a climbing
prescription drug price trend, demand remains elastic because customers demand choices of similar,
less expensive medications if authorized by their doctor. The amount of reimbursement Walgreens
receives from Medicare, Medicaid, and Worker s Compensation falls drastically, as incremental
revenues from those sources decreases (Stewart, 2006). According to Lueck, Medicare and Medicaid
comprise 25 percent of the federal budget, and the government cannot afford to spend at the current
rate (Lueck, 2008). In order to maintain relationships with customers, retail pharmacies resorted to
buying sections of Medicare Part D insurance companies: AARP Walgreens vs. CVS Caremark

Patriots. The Patriots go to the super bowl mostly every year unlike the Falcons only making 2 other
appearances. They have never won a super bowl title, but the Patriots on the other hand have 5 super
titles. The whole world thought that that patriots were gonna blow the falcons out, but that was not the
case. The Falcons started the game off scoring 28 unanswered points. Starting the 2nd half off the
score was 28 3. Falcons were up, but quarterback Tom Brady embraced the challenge. This was ...

Brady knew it was time for a historic come back. The Patriots did not give up. They kept pushing until

won. I bet they regret doing that. With the Patriots down 28 20, and 2 minutes and 28 seconds
remaining in regulation, Tom Brady did what he does best, and that scoring touchdowns. He threw
another touchdown pass to Julian Edleman. With the patriots trailing 28 26 the Patriots had no choice,

Questions 1 4 refer to Piketty s Figure 9.8
1. The variable measured on the vertical axis of Figure 9.8 is the share of total income received by the
highest decile. What does the term, highest decile, mean in the context of this graph?
The term highest decile means the richest 10% of the population.
2. Does this graph provide information about the distribution of income among social classes within a
nation (or region, in the case of Europe), or about the distribution of income among nations or
regions?

He puts a question mark at the end of the phrase to make people question if it s truly possible for
countries like Asia and Africa to have the same GDP as the rest of the world.
Questions 11 13 pertain to Piketty s explanation of the data presented in Figure 9.8
11. What does Piketty think happens to the distribution of income and wealth if market forces are
allowed to operate without government intervention?
Market forces that are left to follow a natural path without government intervention, lead to an even
greater inequality. The rate of return investment is greater than the rate of GDP, which means the rich
control more of the economy.
12. What forces, in Piketty s view, fostered the movement towards greater equality and the creation of
mass prosperity during the mid 20th century in the wealthy democracies?
World War One and World War Two, The Great Depression, Union Rights, and Labor Corporations
fostered the movement towards greater equality and the creation of mass prosperity.

Fear Represented In The Iron Giant
How Is Fear Represented in The Iron Giant
The Iron Giant is a 1999 Animation flick which gives us a taste of comdey and a bit of sadness plus a
small amount of fear which was intentional . It was directed by Brad Bird, the film is essentially about
a child that is about 6 7 years old who is named Hograth finds a robot lurking near a power station and
starts to bond with the robot. Also this takes place during a time where each country was fearing war
and were scared of each other . This is shown where the American spy is fearing that this was a attack
by the Soviets.

scene. The colour reflects on a charters feelings and the camera angles and ... Show more content on

Let s first talk about the parts when the camera angle changes a entire scene. The segment where the
robot has Hogarth in his hand and shows Hogarth the town the camera angle is really vital when this
scene is first introduced to the viewer because the dolly shot which is the camera angle used in this
scene is a shot taken from a moving terrace and this changes the vibe of this scene and fear because it
is taken from a angle where the camera is under the robot and this scene shows how big The Iron
Giant is compared to Hogarth this adds fear because the viewer thinks that a robot that size can strike
at any moment so the fear and tension rises in the viewers eyes. The angle which also has a effect on
the film is the close shot this is shot is where a camera angle grants the viewer clear detail of the
object but mostly a person it is customary only focusing on the head and shoulder. This can be spotted
at the start of the movie where the sailor thinks he has spotted the lighthouse. But is startled when the
Iron Giant this scene adds fear and fantastic angles of the Giant greet him. The angle shows the Giant
smashing the top of the boat with his torso then the sailor looks up and sees the top half of The Iron
Giant this details the Iron Giants power and looks. This scene has a lot of fear thrown into it , the
viewer knows that there is no messing around with the robot and the sailor looks like he just saw a
ghost also the viewer is petrified of what they have just seen . This is really intentional fear this is
mainly because the director wants every viewer to fear the robot and the camera angle is really
meaningful to the fear aspect because it shows that the robot is show huge that the sailor could not
even se its leg or bottom

American Imperialism In Australia Essay
The reasons for colonisation by the Spanish in the Americas and the British in Australia had many
similarities. These similar factors included, improving trade routes, expanding their colonies for
wealth and power and obtaining new resources. In addition, both groups wanted to explore beyond
their own country. However, there were also a few big differences. For example, the British used
Australia for the keeping of convicts, due to the overcrowded prisons in their own country. They also
wanted to claim the land, preventing settlement in Australia from other countries, such as the
Netherlands (Dutch). An aim for the Spanish, in the Americas, was to convert more people to

In both the Americas and Australia, the native dwellers were forced to relocate and adapt to new
circumstances, due to the taking of land by the Europeans, who felt that they had the right to, due to
their self proclaimed superiority. The weapons of the Aztec and the Aboriginal cultures were also
influenced in big ways after the colonisation; as they adopted many of the settlers more technological
weaponry. The Indigenous in the Americas and Australia were forced to change their religious beliefs,
and become Christians. The Aboriginals in Australia were sent to mission stations, and were made to
forget their own beliefs and traditions, which were seen as nomadic to the British.
The Indigenous people were thought to be inferior by the colonisers, and as a result, were the victims
of injust treatment. In both situations, the Indigenous people were met with torture and abuse, as well
as manipulation. Their rights were cruelly taken away and they were forced to become slaves for the
colonisers, who took advantage of the skills and abilities of the Indigenous people. In Australia, the

Dreams
The average amount a human will sleep in their lifetime is 229,961 hours. Part of those 229,961 hours
sleeping is spent dreaming. What are dreams? This question has fascinated the human race throughout
history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans, to Sigmund Freud in the late 1800 s, till now, people
have queried what the mystical stories that play out in the sleeping mind are and why we have them.
The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100 BC. According to these
stories, gods and kings, like the 7th century BC scholar king Assurbanipal, paid close attention to
dreams. In his archive of clay tablets, some accounts of the story of the legendary king Gilgamesh

During this stage, many people experience sudden muscle contractions preceded by a sensation of
falling. In stage 2, eye movement stops and brain waves become slower with only an occasional burst
of rapid brain waves. When a person enters stage 3, extremely slow brain waves called delta waves are
interspersed with smaller, faster waves. In stage 4, the brain produces delta waves almost exclusively.
Stages 3 and 4 are referred to as deep sleep or delta sleep, and it is very difficult to wake someone
from them. In deep sleep, there is no eye movement or muscle activity. This is when some children
experience bedwetting, sleepwalking or night terrors. Usually, REM sleep occurs 70 90 minutes after
someone has fall asleep. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each REM stage gets
longer, and the final one may last up to an hour. A sleeping individual s heart rate and breathing

Dreams are constantly occurring throughout the sleep cycle so do not believe anyone who says they

understanding of the multiple urban projects that occurred and were developed in Mexico during the

The Athletes Have The Opportunity For Garner Media...
SITUATION ANALYSIS Olympic athletes have the opportunity to garner media attention only once
every four years. Additionally female athletes, unlike their male counterparts, are rarely celebrated for
their athleticism, which decreases their opportunities further. However, the national media has a strong
desire to showcase Olympic hopefuls with captivating personal stories. Media outlets seek to tell
stories of individuals who triumph over adversity. Sage Donnelly has an online presence but her

online presence succeeds in providing general information about her but does not allow opportunities

themselves. CORE PROBLEM OR OPPORTUNITY Sage Donnelly s online presence fails to

Compare And Contrast To My Dear And Loving Husband
In Bradstreet´s To My Dear and Loving Husband marriage and love are presented as dazzling and
foolproof. Problems make relationships substantial and the lack of them would seem too quixotic,
making it very stereotyped and dull for my taste. This poem is a rainbow put into words, it illustrates
an ideal relationship that could be considered mythical. Anne Bradstreet seems to image a matrimony,
she aspired to possess. If ever two were one, then surely we / If ever man were loved by wife, then
thee; (1 2) these lines give you the impression that she has an exaggerate self opinion towards her love
life, which she set side by side to other relationships, to make evident that hers was more valuable
than any other. Next she writes If ever wife was happy in a man, /Compare with me ye women if you

of a low self esteem. However, she includes the religious belief to distract the audience from evidently
finding out she is selfish and she really needs her husband to be with her every time while their

Ethical Challenges In Counseling
Apprehensions and Challenges An apprehension I have as I entered into the counseling field is that I
may unconsciously hold back a part of myself in fear of crossing ethical boundaries, by saying or
possibly doing something that may offend my client. In addition being prepared to take action if and
when an ethical situation arises. I also have to be self aware of any biases I may be hindering that
could or would cause ethical challenges or issues. The Challenge I will have is determining how to
deal with an ethical situation when it arises with a client. When a counselor is faced with an ethical
dilemma, it can be the professional counselors biggest ical challenge in determining what the best
course of action to will be (Forester Miller Davis,1996).
I realize that as I evolve in the counseling field my level of comfort and understanding of ethical
behavior and situations will continue to increase.
There is a level of nervousness I have with ethics regarding counseling. I am thinking with the ethical
policies and procedures the solution is to continue to study the ACA code of ethics and be aware of
what I say and how I interact with my future clients. As a counselor and after exhausting all that I
know to uphold ethics, I feel I will still ask how can I know if I have done the right thing?(Van Hoose

Ergot Essay example
Ergot
Ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul.) is a poisonous fungus that is hazardous to animals and humans. It
appears to be a small, hard, black, elongated structure that grows on and contaminants grains, which is
called scelrotium. The appearance tends to look like mold. When eaten in quantity or small amounts
over a period of time it can be highly toxic. Furthermore, it is a major problem for humans in North
America but even more severe for animals. Humans are susceptible to being contaminated with this
poisonous fungus because ergot can grow on mushrooms, rye, wheat, and barley. These are products
that humans ingest everyday. Ergot is the most notorious poison because it includes several species of
ascomycete fungi with complex life cycles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The infection can occur by insects also.
According to Fuller and McClintock, ergotism has caused so many occurrences in epidemic and the
middle ages was known as St. Anthony s fire. In France many people died from this disease, which
was caused mainly from eating bread made from rye grains contaminated with ergot (p. 20).
Plant Toxin/Derivative Drug
Researchers state over fifty alkaloids are within the ergot sclerotia, but mainly ergonovine (also
known as ergometrine, ergobasine, ergotocine, ergotstetrine C19H23N3O2, ergotamine
C33H35N5O5,ergotcryptine C32H41N5O5, ergocornine C31H39N5O5, ergocristine C35H39N5O5,
ergosine C30H37N5O5, and ergovalide) is present in ergot. Most of the alkaloids contain thirty to
thirty five carbon atoms, although some have a smaller number. Therefore, these alkaloids can be
classified as polypeptides. All ergot alkaloids form lysergic acid. Lysergic acid diethylamide, LSD, is
the most powerful compound known that produces imitations of severe mental disorders. Ergot
alkaloids not only have the indole structure but the other ring system and side chains as well.
Symptoms
Humans and animals common acute symptoms is a convulsion stimulation of CNS (central nervous
system). Chronic symptoms include damage to the lining of capillaries and constriction of the smaller
arterial blood vessels resulting in gangrene of the extremities (Fuller and McClintock,19). Some

Climate Plays an Important Environmental Influence on...
Climate plays an important environmental influence on our ecosystems, and climate changes and the
influences of it affect ecosystems in many ways. Ecosystems are already showing negative impacts
under current levels of climate change. One of the biggest issues that we are facing nowadays is global
warming. With the global warming and the rising of the temperature of sea water, it has great impact
on the species in the ocean. More species is facing extinction and with the rising of temperature, it
could force species in the ocean to migrate to higher latitudes where temperatures are lower and easier
to survive. In this research, I would like to know if global warming would force fish migrate to north
or not. I will test the sea water temperature and the survivability of zooplankton with different water
temperature. By doing this research, it enables us to understand the habit of species in the ocean and to
avoid the extinction of certain species. This research will also prove that global warming influences
the whole ocean ecosystem and we should recognize this issue and think what we can do to reduce
and slow down the damage to the ocean.
As the temperature of water is rising, warm water fish are expanding into areas where was previously
inhabited by coldwater species and cause coldwater species losing their habitats. When waters turning
warmer due to global warming, the area that allow coldwater species to migrate is reduced, and this
might cause some species extinct.

The Fool Archetype
The Fool is the fifth card, based off of The Fool card in the major arcana of many other tarot decks.
Here, The Fool represents the conflict asexuals face when coming out, that they do not understand
their bodies, that they are confused, that they are foolish. Other LGBTQ people face these challeges as
well, but much people know much more about being lesbian, gay, or bisexual than they do about being
ace. Of course that is not to say other LGBTQ folks do not face these stigmas as much, the oppression
just operates slightly differently. The archetype of The Fool card from the AALR Tarot deck reads,

Asexual people do not exist to many in the world, and along with bisexuals, pansexuals, polysexuals,
nonbinary, intersex, and many other people, often receive no recognition or acknowledgement.
Asexuals have adopted dragons as a sort of mascot, as the representation of not being real, not existing
to people in the real world. It is not only lack of representation, but denial of struggles, denial of
personhood, and strict adherence to binary categories. People who do not exist within well known
labels, such as gay or straight, are persecuted, mistrusted, invalidated, and oppressed, sometimes by
members of other oppressed groups. When it comes to race, people of color are already
underrepresented in the media, and because asexuality is hardly present at all, asexual people of color
are especially rare to find. When asexual people are represented in the media, they usually are not
explicitly called asexual, or their lack of sexual attraction to others is driven by emotionlessness,
detachment, or apathy. The association with asexuality and mental health disorders such as sociopathy
fails to understand the key component of asexuality, which is asexuals do not feel sexual attraction,
and just that. Asexuals can be completely able to feel romantic attraction, although some do not. No
part of the definition of asexuality says asexuals must be completely cold and heartless. People are
able to be kind and compassionate without forming sexual or romantic bonds with other people. The

Essay on Arthur Mervyn
Charles Brockden Brown s novel, Arthur Mervyn, has been read by people across America from the
late eighteenth century up until today. Brown targeted many audiences in this novel but there is one in
particular that not only had an impact on people then, but can still captivate many in today s society.
That specific group involves people who are fighting an incurable illness, such as the Yellow Fever, as
described in the book. Although it was written in the late 1700 s, people in the twenty first century can
still relate to the characters in the book, and understand what they were feeling at that time. The goal

s time, when people assume the cause is one thing when it could be something completely different.
Mervyn seemed to know at this point that he was destined to die. Most of the fever victims had no
hopes of living once they contracted the illness. He later found sanctuary in the home of Welbeck, in
hopes of breathing his last there, stating, All I sought was the privilege of dying alone (182).
The Yellow Fever is no different than many incurable diseases that we are fighting in today s society,
such as AIDS, Hepatitis A B, Herpes, certain Cancers, Ebola and the Killer Flu. When a person

Everyone has a passion in life. Whether it s gardening, teaching, designing clothes, or whatever else it

passion is baseball. Roy lives, breathes, and loves baseball with all of his heart, mind, and soul. Roy,

is not easy. Nothing ever goes exactly as planned. Malamud puts Roy through phenomenal stress and

because it s not just a baseball book, but a book about the adversities in life, and the willingness one
has to overcome.
Without heroes, we are all plain people and don t know how far we can go (Malamud 154.) This quote

Desire In Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
According to Psychologytoday.com, the term Desire derives itself from the Latin word Desiderare,
meaning, To long or wish for . Desires are often regarded as sexual, lustful urges for pleasure and
satisfaction. However, our desires can be a result of personal insecurities that we may feel and in turn,
we desire to feel secure and comfortable at any costs. A Streetcar Named Desire written by Tennessee
Williams is a play that displays the theme of desire in many scenes but not only in a sexual way.

Stanley tells Stella, ... and when you re swindled under the Napoleonic code I m swindled too. And I

Blanche, the code states that he loses the money too due to the sharing of possessions between
spouses. This is where we first see Stanley s desire for power and control as it is seen that he becomes
angry with the fact that Blanche potentially manipulates him. In many scenes of the play, Stanley s
assertiveness and need for control is seen through his actions. In scene eight of the play, Stella is
angered by Stanley s actions at the dinner table and demands that he wash up and help clear the table.
Angered by Stella s demands, Stanley feels that Blanche and Stella see him as weak. His desire to

Knowledge In Plato s Republic
Knowledge is a central theme in Plato s Republic, particularly prevalent in Book V. In it, Socrates is
telling of the importance of a good ruler, he comes to the conclusion that the absolute best ruler is
what he dubs the Philosopher King . There is an important difference which Plato points out between
true lovers of wisdom, and those who merely appreciate it, a difference which he says is as stark as
dreaming and waking. True Philosophers love the truth and seeking the truth, they will not be satisfied
with a portion of it, nor will they be satisfied with deceiving themselves into believing they know the
full truth; this is like the difference between being fully awake and being in a dream. Those who know
the truth, Socrates says, have knowledge.

Using Windows And Osx ( Apple )
Introduction
In this report I will be writing about the key components which are needed for any computer to be able
to run and work. I will be writing about them in detail to show what they do and how they help make
the computer work. I am also going to go over some extra components which can be added to make
them run better and quicker. Along with the components, I am going to talk about what an operating
system is and why it is needed. To go into more depth with operating systems I am going to compare
features of Windows and OSX (Apple).
Computer Components

The ALU is also where all the final processing is happening before it is sent back to the Register for
the computer to use.
The CU is part of the CPU which directs all the processors operations by conducting the input and

decoding instructions and sending them to get executed by the ALU.
The Register is a form of local storage space on the CPU which holds all the data which is being
processed. It can usually occupy the top most position of memory, in which it provides high speed
storage space and fast access to that data. (Computer Hope, 2014)
Motherboard
A Motherboard is the key circuit board of the computer and is where all the components are
connected, this includes; CPU, ROM, RAM, expansion slots, PCI Slots, SATA, USB, etc. As you can
see by Figure 2, there are a lot parts which make up a motherboard and can also be added to it. A
Motherboard has a chipset which is a collection of chips and controllers. When a new model of
motherboards are made, they have new updated chipsets which work better than previous chipsets.
The bad thing about this is that some older components may not work with this new chipset and will
have to be replaced with newer parts. (Tech Terms, 2008)

became very jealous and skeptical of Athens. After disagreements over the city of Corinth, Sparta had

they still get the supplies they needed. Since Athens decided to stay put because they were secure
behind the walls, this allowed Sparta to surround Athens.

Character Analysis Of The Movie Full Metal Jacket
Leonard Lawrence, who is a major character in the movie Full Metal Jacket also known as Private
Gomer Pyle, is an overweight, slow minded recruit who becomes the focus of Gunnery Sergeant
Hartman s attention. In the course of the movie, Leonard undergoes a development and a significant
mental change. The character was discriminated and humiliated by Sergeant Hartman because of his
enervate personality at the boot camp. Leonard s portrayal changes when his fellow recruits mistreat
him, which made Leonard become dark and psychopathic throughout the movie. Through Private Pyle
s character, Stanley Kubrick showed that regardless of who you are and what you can do, war will
wipe all that away, leaving the darkness and a killer in you.
Kubrick introduced Private Pyle in the opening scene of the movie, where a group of recruits gets an
introduction to the boot camp from Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, a foul mouthed drill instructor who
bullies, and discriminates his recruits with harsh words. When it was Leonard s turn to be introduced,
Sergeant Hartman insulted him more than he did to his other recruits for being fat and making an

Women Leaving Her Husband Analysis
Butler explains to her readers the ample reasons why wives of the medieval time period would decide
to leave their husbands. In fact, on page 338 of her article, Butler writes, The goal of this paper is to
provide a more comprehensive perspective of husband desertion, including the risks involved in
deserting one s husband, the wife s motivations, and the logistics of desertion (Butler 338). She begins
her article with some background information in hopes to enlighten her readers that at this point in
history, men had all the power in any marriage. Following the brief history of the misogyny found in
medieval marriages, Butler uses the rest of her article to explain to her readers the trials and
tribulations these wives had to go through, the risk of others knowing she wanted to leave, and what
made the wives want to leave at all. Butler first chooses to explain what the risks were when a wife
left her husband during the medieval era. Due to the misogyny found in medieval marriages, if a
woman decided to leave her husband, she had to be well aware of the consequences that would follow.
For instance, Butler points out to her audience that if a woman decided to leave her husband, then

Dugan writes, Analyzing representations of scent as a dramatic trope within two distinct theatrical
atmospheres late medieval civic drama and early modern professional theaters I argue that olfaction

Asian Immigration to the United States Essay
In the 1900s a significant amount of Asian immigration settled in the United
States. Many Asians escaped communist grasp and were lured by the California gold rush. About
30,000 Chinese had already migrated by the 1920s. Risking their lives by escaping the country they
once knew. They head out to America a ticket to freedom. Or so they thought. Violence and
discrimination were upheld against them as they remained in the country. As the rise of communism
becomes a reality of many Asians, families began to immigrate to America seeking freedom and a
better life.

In the
1990 s Pathet Lao deserted communism and changed to capitalism. Political control was
still harshly suppressed by the government. Pathet Lao improved their relation with
China, Thailand, and the United States.
In 1965 1968 China had a immense impact on China due to the Cultural
Movement. Mao Zedong was a communist leader in China and led this Revolution. The
Cultural Revolution s purpose was to reassure Mao Zedong trust or belief in China. Mao
feared other members of the party would try to weaken him and take over his power. Lin
Piao was a Military communist leader, he led china to victory in the Chinese civil war.
Lin gave a speech in September 1965, Lin s speech urged schools and colleges to return
back to their revolutionary state. Mandarin people came in the country not knowing what
a regular lifestyle looks like. Chinese who were academically educational were known as
elites. Many Chinese youths criticized the Chinese communist party, and apparently were
influenced by the USSR Nikita Khrushchev. Then emerged the Red Guards, Red Guards
consisted of a group of youths who criticized those who opposed Mao and his way.
Anyone who criticized Mao whether it s from writers or politics were considered Mao s
enemy. Mao set out and created a cult for those who deliberately was against Chinese
Communist. Mao s purpose was to unite everyone together regardless of hierarchy.

Carlos Salazar Pursuit Of Happiness
Carlos Salazar begins Pursuit of Happiness by creating an idea of the different kinds of happiness that
exist. Salazar states in his thesis that, Happiness is temporarily most of the time but love is the only
happiness that can last the longest (1). Salazar has a roadmap included in his thesis but throughout his
essay he tends to steer off his roadmap. Salazar s main points consist of the temporary happiness that
drugs, sleep, sex, and love contain. Although Salazar includes a roadmap in his thesis and also clearly
connects his topic to Drop City, Salazar needs to stay on his roadmap, come up with a counter
argument, and organize his body paragraphs. Including a roadmap in a thesis is great but what is even
more great is an essay that is composed by following the roadmap that is set in a thesis. Salazar s
claim is that love is a happiness that lasts the longest in comparison to any other kind of happiness.
Even though he does include reasoning of his claim in his paragraphs, in some sections of his writing,
Salazar seems to actually make the claim that in some cases a person s interpretation of happiness is
not actually happiness. They all make people happy but is it worth being happy for the things that they
do or are they just wasting time trying to be happy (Salazar 5). ... Show more content on

I think Salazar should focus on just one topic per paragraph. For example, in Paragraph two, Salazar
begins by explaining how sleep is a happiness that actually does not benefit a person if they are
sleeping to much (2) and then he quickly changes his topic to drugs being beneficial only temporarily
(2). Instead of suddenly changing topics, Salazar can create separate paragraphs for each different
topic. By creating more paragraphs for each topic instead of combining multiple topics into one
paragraph Salazar will help his readers understand his writing in a more facile

Rise Of Sivagami Essay
A Critical Review of The Rise of Sivagami
By Uganeswary Venugopal
INTRODUCTION
SS Rajamouli , a famous movie director while he was directing Bahubali movie ( The Beginning The
Conclusion ) asked writer Anand Neelakantan to pen the story of Mahishmathi. The Rise of Sivagami
is an Indian Historical fiction novel written by Anand Neelakantan. He present this story revolves
around Sivagami, character of Bahubali. I was personally mesmerized when I read Sivagami saying I
swear, I will destroy the Kingdom of Mahishmathi! I kept on reading the book and the sequence of
story was excellent. This paper will review Sivagami s story as well and the struggles faced by her in
the journey of searching the manuscript and its secret.
SUMMARY
The character of Sivagami was started building in the first chapter (Sivagami). She appeared to be
woman of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author portrays brother sister relationship in an improper way. Brother and sister relationship is
the most beautiful and pure relationship on the earth. But in this story this unique relationship is
shown in a wrong manner. For example, Raghava kissed Sivagami when they had a journey to the
mansion. Although Raghava s father adopted her but he treated Sivagami as his own daughter. She
also thought like that. But Raghava had affection with Sivagami and kissed her. He supposed treated
Sivagami as his sister not a lover. This kind of plots may divert the mind of readers to a bad way. The
third weakness is the introduction of Sivagami within first chapter. Telling a character s history
upfront immediately gives readers a sense of formative experiences and character psychology. The
author describes Sivagami s character in stand alone description. Sivagami plays a main role in this
story. The author just mention her name in the story straight forwardly without any description. It will
make the readers to get bored.

A Shift Of Perspective On My Family
A Shift in Perspective
Friends,
I would like you to imagine being in a country where your family has moved but you have never
visited before. You do not speak the language. Every word you hear except from the small portion of
your family is unfamiliar and confusing. There is no implicit definition for many of these syllables and
even if there were, you would not know it, but this culture intrigues you. These people live a life like
you have never seen.
In the safety of your family s beautiful neighborhood, you decide to wander. The sun shines above
you. The air is brisk in a way you haven t quite experienced. You are bundled up to protect against this
unfamiliar cool. A hat pulled low to keep the heat in against the February chill.
You find yourself fascinated more with every step. These people lives are so different from your own.
You study this community in awe of what you are seeing. You wander between property lines of
which you are unaware, unknowingly breaking the code of this culture.
This atmosphere of beauty shifts when you are approached by two men clothed identically approach
you from a marked vehicle. You identify them as law enforcers, but you are uncertain of how you will
answer their questions. Their words come too quickly for you to even partially comprehend. A terror
swells in you to find someone to translate and mediate. You need your family here.
You begin to walk in the direction of your son s home, anxious and unsure of how else to
communicate what

Motivation Techniques for Businesses to Motivate the Work...
Motivation Techniques for Businesses to Motivate the Work Force
Introduction ============
For this assignment I am going to look at different motivational techniques that businesses use in
order to motivate their work force, I will then decide on which I feel to be the most effective and why
it is so effective.
Hypothesis ==========
All businesses want a motivated workforce, and expend a lot of time and money in order to attempt to
achieve this, what these people need to look at is the common goals that there employees hold, for
example:
Self esteem: needs for self respect and self confidence, for autonomy, for achievement, for
competence, for knowledge.

In order for a worker to feel happy, they must be in the right environment, if they do not feel happy in
the area they are working in then they may be tempted not to come at all. If a worker does not get on
with his/her colleagues and are possibly picked on by them than this will cause them to be highly
unmotivated, the same goes if the place they are working in is clean or sanitary, for example if a chef
is working in a very dirty kitchen in which they have to spend a long time working in than they will
not produce their best work, or if someone is working in a dirty cluttered office than it is bound to
affect their work motivation. But if they work in a clean friendly environment, then they will be a lot
happier. But there is one problem with there being an environment that is too friendly, and that is the
employees may talk too much and become distracted

Food Dyes Lab Report
Dyes are added to foods so they appear more appetizing to the consumer; oranges are supposed to be
orange and apples are supposed to be red. In this experiment, students gained insight on how different
wavelengths transmit different colors and how the absorbency of a solution impacts its visible color.
Absorbance spectrums show how strongly something absorbs different wavelengths of light.
Absorbency in different regions of the spectrum influences the color that we see. In this experiment,
students used a spectrometer to measure the absorbance spectrum of different color food dyes and
learned how different wavelengths result in different colors. Students gained a deeper understanding
of why a given substance is a certain color and how much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was green. The color absorbed is the complementary color to what is visible, meaning the solution

show this phenomenon. Yellow 5 food dye has a wavelength of maximum absorbance of 426 nm,
meaning the dye absorbs violet light, which has a wavelength range of 400 450 nm. The solution
absorbs violet light, but transmits violets complimentary color, yellow, to be

  • 2. The Science Of The Earth Essay Introduction The science that is connected with planet earth encompasses geosciences or earth science among others. Containing old histories, this is considered as a part of planetary science while it possesses holistic and reductionist approaches in the science of the planet Earth. This discipline can cope with lithosphere, atmosphere, biosphere or hydrosphere. Quantitative understanding has been developed by the scientists to understand the ground systems with the tools by mathematics, physics, chronology, biology, chemistry alike that help to know how the universe is evolved. Deliberations According to a news release from NASA, coronal mass ejections caused by geomagnetic storms have been enhanced in strength; as from G1 to G5, they were rated G3 in 2012. The earth planet is surrounded and by bubbles of magnetic fields while rapid changes in the earth magnetosphere were witnessed due to activities that happened on sun that caused a geomagnetic storm. With earth s magnetic fields, coronal mass ejections were mingled; as a result, the wind became mild in intensity reported in the month of March in the corresponding year (Philips, 2009). On the other hand, the geomagnetic storms have been intensified and enhanced in their frequency as magnetic fields of coronal mass ejections indulges with that of the earth that causes change of direction and leave more radiation and magnetic energy into the environment of the planet earth. • 3. The Importance Of Sustainable Water Practices For The... Sustainability is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987). Water is a principal compound for human life across the globe. Although there is of 1.4×109 km3 of Water on Earth, only 0.37% of that is drinkable (Murphy, 2004). The inability to access this clean water then causes water borne diseases, particularly in poorer nations, such as Cambodia where only 14% of the population has access to drinkable water (Brinkley, 2011). This is then the reasoning behind the 3.4million deaths annually by water borne diseases within the developing world (World Health organisation, 2001). As 70L of water/day ... Also, the correct use off the device is assumed. 2 BIO SAND FILTERS 2.1 Design There are seven components to a biosand filter design. These are; the lid, diffuser, sand layer, outlet tube, filter body, gravel layer and the separated gravel layer (Cawst, 2009). All of these components all contribute to the purification of water. The purpose of the lid is to protect the water from any external contamination. The diffuser is a plastic sheet with holes drilled into it and protects the biolayer while the water is being poured in (CDC, 2014). This is achieved through slowing down the rate of the water. The third component is the sand layer and this removes any suspended solids within the water. This is able to occur through the use of mechanical trapping and the solids being trapped in between the grains of sand (Cawst, 2009). The separating gravel layer is purely placed in the filter to support the sand layer on top while the drainage gravel layer s purpose is to support the flow of water into the outlet tube. The use of bigger rocks is used for this drainage layer to prevent smaller rocks accessing this outlet tube (Cawst, 2009). The outlet tube brings the water from the bottom of the ... In this poem, Bradstreet s house is burning, but instead of being extremely downtrodden, Bradstreet praises God. Bradstreet believes that God is helping her realize the value of materialistic items and that He is saving her from being lost in them. In this quote, Bradstreet uses figurative language and her belief in God to describe her situation. Bradstreet uses figurative language when she describes her goods which then laid in the dust . She is saddened by her loss of her favorite items, and how they laid in the ashes of her burnt house. However, she also blesses God for taking the items away from her. She blest his Name that ... I cannot but take notice how at another time I could not bear to be in the room where any dead person was, but now the case is changed; I must and could lie down by my dead babe, side by side all the night after. This quote is from Mary Rowlandson s Captivity Narrative when she is with her youngest daughter, Sarah. In Rowlandson s recollection, the family is split apart after Native Americans attack and capture people in her town. While living in the Native American village, Sarah dies from a gunshot wound. Rowlandson is extremely distressed, but feels as if she is saved by God because he preserved her life in her worst times. • 6. Student Athletes And The National Collegiate Athletics... Over 460,000 college students participate in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) in the United States but research on the cohort is quantitatively and qualitatively unsupportive of athletes on and off the field. Athletes make up a particularly stimulating population for mental health professionals as athletes and their teams operate within their own culture and systems allowing for mental health professionals to expand their innovative skills to deal with the multidimensional realm of no pain, no gain . There is stereotype threat that follows athletes, the idea that athletes are less motivated in the classroom and over privileged in comparison to their student peers. In turn, peers and professors alike create their own biases towards or against the benefit of the student athlete; not allowing make up assignments for class time missed due to collegiate athletic events or, on the other end of the spectrum, giving preferential treatment to athletes (in turn perpetuating the negative stereotype). Although research indicates this threat to be strong, research also indicates that the stereotype is seemingly unfounded. Student athletes are recruited into university less academically prepared and must devote upwards of 20 hours a week to their sport while the graduation rate for student athletes (51%) is virtually equal to that of non student athletes (52%). • 7. The European Union s Democratic Deficit The European Union has greatly evolved over the decades since it has begun into a well evolved quasi state of over 28 countries, and over five hundred million citizens. The European Union has been regarded as a method to bring democratic stability and economic prosperity to less developed democracies in East and Central Europe. Although the European Union has a mandate to bring all of these standards, the European Union lacks these basic standards for their overall institution. This structural problem has given the European Union its own democratic deficit . The rise of the democratic deficit has arisen from many undemocratic characteristics of EU institutions, and a lack of a demos or a lack of a single socio cultural European identity. In order for a political body to remain legitimate, it must have the trust and support of the citizens it governs, and make changes for the continuation of its future. In other words, if the European Union does not take action to combat its democratic deficit, the future of the European Unions institution will be at risk. Another serious issue is the European Union has seen democratic backsliding of many Eastern European countries. This paper will discuss the major issues that the Democratic Deficit has caused for the European Union, and what possible reforms can be done to help fix the democratic deficit. • 8. The September 11th Attacks And Its Impact On The United... The September 11th attacks became a turning point in the evolution of security systems and models in the United States. These horrific events also challenged the security status quo around the globe. The current evidence suggests that the level of planning in the September 11th attacks was truly unprecedented. The complexity of the activities, systems, resources, and decisions involved eventually translated into a terrorist attack of enormous scope and magnitude. The September 11th acts of terrorism set the stage for reconsidering the effectiveness of all airport security methodologies and techniques. The concern continues to be whether or not the continued improvements that are needed to ensure that the measures implemented to boost airport security do not violate the rights of passengers. For the passengers of the four flights hijacked on September 11, 2001, that day became the end of everything. According to the 9/11 Commission (2004), one of the first flights to be boarded was American 11 in Boston. In the meantime, passengers of United 175 were checking in for their flight (9/11 Commission, 2004). The hijackers of both flights passed a number of security checks and, without any suspicion, boarded both planes. Their aircraft pushed back from the gates without any delays (9/11 Commission, 2004). At that same time, a group of hijackers was checking in at the American Airlines flight 77 to Los Angeles (9/11 Commission, 2004). They passed routine security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With 65% of the sales revenue of the company coming from the pharmacy, Walgreens declines to bargain with out of pocket customers over price. Regardless of a climbing prescription drug price trend, demand remains elastic because customers demand choices of similar, less expensive medications if authorized by their doctor. The amount of reimbursement Walgreens receives from Medicare, Medicaid, and Worker s Compensation falls drastically, as incremental revenues from those sources decreases (Stewart, 2006). What does Piketty think happens to the distribution of income and wealth if market forces are allowed to operate without government intervention? Market forces that are left to follow a natural path without government intervention, lead to an even greater inequality. The rate of return investment is greater than the rate of GDP, which means the rich control more of the economy. 12. World War One and World War Two, The Great Depression, Union Rights, and Labor Corporations fostered the movement towards greater equality and the creation of mass prosperity.

Fear Represented In The Iron Giant How Is Fear Represented in The Iron Giant The Iron Giant is a 1999 Animation flick which gives us a taste of comdey and a bit of sadness plus a small amount of fear which was intentional . It was directed by Brad Bird, the film is essentially about a child that is about 6 7 years old who is named Hograth finds a robot lurking near a power station and starts to bond with the robot. Also this takes place during a time where each country was fearing war and were scared of each other . This is shown where the American spy is fearing that this was a attack by the Soviets. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s first talk about the parts when the camera angle changes a entire scene. The segment where the robot has Hogarth in his hand and shows Hogarth the town the camera angle is really vital when this scene is first introduced to the viewer because the dolly shot which is the camera angle used in this scene is a shot taken from a moving terrace and this changes the vibe of this scene and fear because it is taken from a angle where the camera is under the robot and this scene shows how big The Iron Giant is compared to Hogarth this adds fear because the viewer thinks that a robot that size can strike at any moment so the fear and tension rises in the viewers eyes. The angle which also has a effect on the film is the close shot this is shot is where a camera angle grants the viewer clear detail of the object but mostly a person it is customary only focusing on the head and shoulder. This can be spotted at the start of the movie where the sailor thinks he has spotted the lighthouse. But is startled when the Iron Giant this scene adds fear and fantastic angles of the Giant greet him. The angle shows the Giant smashing the top of the boat with his torso then the sailor looks up and sees the top half of The Iron Giant this details the Iron Giants power and looks. This scene has a lot of fear thrown into it , the viewer knows that there is no messing around with the robot and the sailor looks like he just saw a ghost also the viewer is petrified of what they have just seen . This is really intentional fear this is mainly because the director wants every viewer to fear the robot and the camera angle is really meaningful to the fear aspect because it shows that the robot is show huge that the sailor could not even se its leg or bottom ... These similar factors included, improving trade routes, expanding their colonies for wealth and power and obtaining new resources. In addition, both groups wanted to explore beyond their own country. However, there were also a few big differences. For example, the British used Australia for the keeping of convicts, due to the overcrowded prisons in their own country. This question has fascinated the human race throughout history. From the Ancient Greeks and Romans, to Sigmund Freud in the late 1800 s, till now, people have queried what the mystical stories that play out in the sleeping mind are and why we have them. The Sumerians in Mesopotamia left evidence of dreams dating back to 3100 BC. Stages 3 and 4 are referred to as deep sleep or delta sleep, and it is very difficult to wake someone from them. In deep sleep, there is no eye movement or muscle activity. This is when some children experience bedwetting, sleepwalking or night terrors. Usually, REM sleep occurs 70 90 minutes after someone has fall asleep. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes. Each REM stage gets longer, and the final one may last up to an hour. A sleeping individual s heart rate and breathing quickens. Additionally female athletes, unlike their male counterparts, are rarely celebrated for their athleticism, which decreases their opportunities further. However, the national media has a strong desire to showcase Olympic hopefuls with captivating personal stories. Media outlets seek to tell stories of individuals who triumph over adversity. Climate plays an important environmental influence on our ecosystems, and climate changes and the influences of it affect ecosystems in many ways. Ecosystems are already showing negative impacts under current levels of climate change. One of the biggest issues that we are facing nowadays is global warming. With the global warming and the rising of the temperature of sea water, it has great impact on the species in the ocean. More species is facing extinction and with the rising of temperature, it could force species in the ocean to migrate to higher latitudes where temperatures are lower and easier to survive. In this research, I would like to know if global warming would force fish migrate to north or not. I will test the sea water temperature and the survivability of zooplankton with different water temperature. By doing this research, it enables us to understand the habit of species in the ocean and to avoid the extinction of certain species. This research will also prove that global warming influences the whole ocean ecosystem and we should recognize this issue and think what we can do to reduce and slow down the damage to the ocean. As the temperature of water is rising, warm water fish are expanding into areas where was previously inhabited by coldwater species and cause coldwater species losing their habitats. When waters turning warmer due to global warming, the area that allow coldwater species to migrate is reduced, and this might cause some species extinct. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is not only lack of representation, but denial of struggles, denial of personhood, and strict adherence to binary categories. People who do not exist within well known labels, such as gay or straight, are persecuted, mistrusted, invalidated, and oppressed, sometimes by members of other oppressed groups. When it comes to race, people of color are already underrepresented in the media, and because asexuality is hardly present at all, asexual people of color are especially rare to find. He s frantically working on an essay that he has already spent days writing. He needs to finish this English essay so he can move on to work regarding the speech outline that is due later in the evening. In addition to that, he also has two tests the next day that require a few hours of review each. He never pictured college to be a cakewalk but never did he imagine it would take this much to earn a decent grade. This is the reality for most college students, especially ones in their first year. It s a difficult struggle but everyone that s been through college has been here before: cramming for tests, spending hours writing essays, reading chapter after chapter of thousand page books, the late nights studying... The stress is an atrocious beast everyone with a degree has had to battle. Stress is commonplace among college students, especially ones fresh out of high school due to the newly found freedoms they enjoy conflicting with the colossal amount of responsibility gained at the same rate. How does all of this stress affect the process of learning? First, it must be understood that learning is a biological process within the brain. Robert Leamnson, The author of Thinking About Teaching and Learning , describes the biological process as The establishment of axons between neurons that create synapses. and explains that: The ability of the brain ... It is an organism whose genetic material has been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. Genetic engineering researchers promise the following benefits that GM food will bring: increase crop yields, lower cost of herbicide, and adapt to global climate change. Therefore GM food is believe to solve the problem of hunger due to the ever increasing global population, especially in third world. It restrict farmers to own the seeds of their GM plants, saying that it is to justify money the company invested to the technology. Once Monsanto suspect farmers of their misuse of seeds, they sent detectives to watch farmers and take videos of them. This will mentally ruin farmers. The farmers are innocent in many cases, but they don t have enough money to fight in court, so they can only admit and pay Monsanto. Monsanto contradict themselves because they insist the crop has no difference form conventional natural varieties, but when it comes to patent, they say its completely different and they are in patent. A significant number of research casts doubt on Monsanto s argument. For example, a rat feeding research observed that after the consumption of Bt corn, rats showed slight but dose related significant variations in growth for both sexes, resulting in 3.3% decrease in weight for males and 3.7% increase for females. It also caused malfunction of kidney and females s pregnancy. (Gilles Eric, Dominique and Joel) Another study found the corn s Bt toxin in the blood of pregnant women and their babies, as well as in non pregnant women. (Smith) The cause of death in rats shown in the above research is not because of toxin, but a process that genes are being changed. As the proverb goes, you are what you eat. By eating Bt corn, you might become a person who is coded program to produce insecticide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Women Leaving Her Husband Analysis Butler explains to her readers the ample reasons why wives of the medieval time period would decide to leave their husbands. In fact, on page 338 of her article, Butler writes, The goal of this paper is to provide a more comprehensive perspective of husband desertion, including the risks involved in deserting one s husband, the wife s motivations, and the logistics of desertion (Butler 338). She begins her article with some background information in hopes to enlighten her readers that at this point in history, men had all the power in any marriage. Following the brief history of the misogyny found in medieval marriages, Butler uses the rest of her article to explain to her readers the trials and tribulations these wives had to go through, the risk of others knowing she wanted to leave, and what made the wives want to leave at all. Butler first chooses to explain what the risks were when a wife left her husband during the medieval era. Due to the misogyny found in medieval marriages, if a woman decided to leave her husband, she had to be well aware of the consequences that would follow. For instance, Butler points out to her audience that if a woman decided to leave her husband, then must live with the label of adulteress. This label guarantees that this woman would never be able to claim any inheritance in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. Carlos Salazar Pursuit Of Happiness Carlos Salazar begins Pursuit of Happiness by creating an idea of the different kinds of happiness that exist. Salazar states in his thesis that, Happiness is temporarily most of the time but love is the only happiness that can last the longest (1). Salazar has a roadmap included in his thesis but throughout his essay he tends to steer off his roadmap. Salazar s main points consist of the temporary happiness that drugs, sleep, sex, and love contain. Although Salazar includes a roadmap in his thesis and also clearly connects his topic to Drop City, Salazar needs to stay on his roadmap, come up with a counter argument, and organize his body paragraphs. Including a roadmap in a thesis is great but what is even more great is an essay that is composed by following the roadmap that is set in a thesis. Salazar s claim is that love is a happiness that lasts the longest in comparison to any other kind of happiness. Even though he does include reasoning of his claim in his paragraphs, in some sections of his writing, Salazar seems to actually make the claim that in some cases a person s interpretation of happiness is not actually happiness. They all make people happy but is it worth being happy for the things that they do or are they just wasting time trying to be happy (Salazar 5). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of suddenly changing topics, Salazar can create separate paragraphs for each different topic. By creating more paragraphs for each topic instead of combining multiple topics into one paragraph Salazar will help his readers understand his writing in a more facile ... He supposed treated Sivagami as his sister not a lover. This kind of plots may divert the mind of readers to a bad way. The third weakness is the introduction of Sivagami within first chapter. Hypothesis ========== All businesses want a motivated workforce, and expend a lot of time and money in order to attempt to achieve this, what these people need to look at is the common goals that there employees hold, for example: Self esteem: needs for self respect and self confidence, for autonomy, for achievement, for competence, for knowledge. In order for a worker to feel happy, they must be in the right environment, if they do not feel happy in the area they are working in then they may be tempted not to come at all. If a worker does not get on with his/her colleagues and are possibly picked on by them than this will cause them to be highly unmotivated, the same goes if the place they are working in is clean or sanitary, for example if a chef is working in a very dirty kitchen in which they have to spend a long time working in than they will not produce their best work, or if someone is working in a dirty cluttered office than it is bound to affect their work motivation. But if they work in a clean friendly environment, then they will be a lot happier. But there is one problem with there being an environment that is too friendly, and that is the employees may talk too much and become distracted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Absorbance spectrums show how strongly something absorbs different wavelengths of light. Absorbency in different regions of the spectrum influences the color that we see.
